Oh my god! This place was so good! We got there and right away were asked if we wanted to try a falafel sample (of course we do!) then I couldn't decide between that and portobello and the gentleman informed me I can get both! I got falafel, portobello, veggies, tabouli, tzatziki, feta, and Kalamata olives in a pita.. I also got mint lemonade! My bf got pomegranate lemonade and a steak pita. So yummy and it was filling! All together it was a little over $20.

We tried this place once before with no problem. Food was fresh, tasted great, service quick and helpful. Our second visit was alot different. My wife asked for a separate plate for the serving of hummus because she doesn't like all the food crowded on one plate which can make it difficult to eat, "Chris" asked why and stated "it all get mixed once you eat it" something neither of us wanted to hear before we ate, let alone being questioned on how to we eat food. Its one extra plate, I would have paid for it I needed to. We were both taken aback by his snarky statement and I didn't have time to respond and just wanted to get our food and sit down. While we were eating we overheard "Chris" rudely speaking to another couple, two senior ladies asking about the menu options and they walked out. My wife and I decided to say something about his attitude. We told him that he can't speak to us or anyone else like that and its his job to answer questions and serve the food. He said he could only answer so many questions a day and didn't have time for us and that we should find the door and leave. A family of 3 or 4 that was in line saw the transaction between Chris, the two older ladies and us and said they were going somewhere else to eat. By this point I was fuming and ready to leave without finishing our meal. What was planned to be a nice quick dinner turned into a great big annoying insult. Until Chris the manager gets fired, we will not be returning to this location and this review will reflect that. SHAME ON YOUR chris FOR YOUR POOR ATTITUDE AND BEING A BULLY TO CUSTOMERS.

Skip this location - While I generally love this restaurant chain, this one is not up to par. My first experience several months ago was so-so. The meat and rice were really dried out though. I decided to give it another try this evening. Chris waited on us. I ordered a plate and he asked a strange question. Rather than the typical question white or wheat pita, he asked "do you want your pita?" When I asked, "What?" He repeated the question but shouted it loud enough for everyone in the restaurant to hear. When my companion responded with, "you don't need to yell." Chris became more rude and condescending. We were ready to leave at that point but we were short on time so we continued down the line. It was then that we noticed the state of the food. They were out of chicken and steak and we were going to have to wait for them to cook it. When we heard that one woman had been waiting 20 minutes, we decided to leave. I hope this location gets better ..... For now I'd suggest skipping it. #garbanzo #garbanzodenver #leaveitbetter

I liked this place. It was our first time here though, and I felt like the staff was not very helpful with explaining the concept. After some confusion my husband and I finally decided to get the plate option. We also got the gluten-free pita which was awesome. The sauces were delicious. Overall it was a good experience.

I love Garbanzos! Super nice staff, good food, and I feel like it's generally healthy. Its also a great place to introduce your friends to Mediterranean food because it's pretty simple and easy to order, not at all intimidating.

A healthier fast food alternative. I ordered the gyro plate but asked for half gyro and falafel. It's like a huge salad and you pick your toppings- pickles, hummus, tabuleh, veggie salad, and so much before. Before you know it your plate is filled high with fresh yummy stuff to try. They have 4 different sauces- my favorite was the Tzatziki sauce and the red sauce for spice. It's a lot of food and it was $10 for my plate and iced tea. A great lunch value and it's quick through the line even when busy. The parking lot at this location is always busy and it's hard to find a parking spot during lunch time. They even have outdoor tables too. Qdoba, Garbonzos, and Subway are favorite fast food restaurants.

I used to love Garbanzo and was a super frequent visitor. I stopped in today, the first time in a few months and I left with my takeout super disappointed. First they have changed their menu a bit. While they have added gyro's they have taken away the grape leaves and good majority of their sauces, which is a huge bummer for me. I always get the greek salad and had I known their weren't as many sauce (dressing options) I probably would have left, but my food was already made so...... and lastly, the guy finishing up my salad forgot the olives, feta cheese, and peppers, (Unfortunately, I didn't notice till I was home with my salad as it could have been an easy fix) He asked, I said yes, I walked by him to pay as to not hold up the incredibly long line, I didn't think I had to monitor every step of the process. So, I am now eating my salad take out and it is nothing compared to what I raved about in my previous review. I understand you have to go with what sells, but what is selling point for me is gone and forgetting my favorite salad items isn't helping my bummed out mood.

Pros: generous portions, fast courteous service, healthy lunch option, moderately priced Cons: nothing like real Greek food. It's America's mass produced version of Greek food. Like I said, it's a good healthy lunch option that won't break the bank but don't expect to be transported to Greece upon your first bite

Yesterday was a first for me and my wife. Enjoyed it very much! The price and serving size were great. Flavors were enjoyable. Cons; felafel was a tiny bit over cooked (unless you like it crispy), ice in the pre-made drinks was long melted away, although the the drinks were still delicious (lemon aid and tea). If you're after a quick seemingly very healthy and filling fast food, don't be shy, come on in.... Oh, and the baklava was pretty good too...

What a let down. Food tastes fine, but the service is remarkably bad! Stopped in around 8 pm for some easy dinner and the whole crew (a bunch of high school kids) basically had one foot out the door. They didn't have all of the ingredients out on the assembly line, every fountain beverage tasted like soda water, and we made the mistake of sitting near the soda fountain and silverware so someone was basically standing on top of us doing their side work the whole time we were eating. These kids were banging stuff around in the back, yelling, and generally acting like a bunch of idiots. Couldn't wait to get out of there and we won't be back any time soon!

I almost didn't come here because I saw some low reviews on this site. But I am glad I did. Quinoa, fresh veggies, falafel, tasty rice, hummus, dolmades, pita, well seasoned juicy meat. If you get the plate, you easily have two meals from it. You really can't go wrong getting a delicious and healthy meal from here with a variety of awesome ingredients. Also, the service was incredibly friendly. Yes, you order the items you want in your bowl or pita from behind a glass case. But that doesn't mean you should call it Chipotle and scoff like you are some foodie who is above it all. Take a step back and lose the arrogance. You are walking into a restaurant next to the mall. Yes, it is fast. But I don't think that is reason to attach the stigma of "fast food." No, you arent going to be magically teleported to Greece. But you must be an idiot if you go into this place with those expectations. I would normally give this place a 4, but I need to combat these unjustified haters. Moral of the story: Mass-produced franchise restaurant does not always equal bad.

YUM. I could describe this place in two words: "Mediterranean Chipotle." Same concept, but the ingredients are fresher and tastier. Anyone who loves falafels will love this place. (They give you free samples while you wait!) And talk about the amount of food you get...it blows Chipotle out of the water! I usually get a plate of some kind (chicken, beef, falafel) and pile on the goodies, everything from hummus and baba ganoush to tzaziki and olives. Really, you can't go wrong.

This is one of my favorite spots to eat lunch. The plate option with or with out a meat is always great! It's a ton of great food and only 7 bucks. I really don't like chain restaurants but this one is a go-to option for sure and will not let you down!

I have been to this location many times without anything less than a tasty dish, the trip I made today was not so pleasant. The workers were very sweet and attentive to everyone's needs, but they all seemed stressed, and that they were not enjoying their jobs. (I mean, I've been there, done the fast ish food thing) but they looked like they wanted out. I believe this had something to do with a man who seemed to be the manager (probably 5'7 man in his 30's tan skin and dark hair) Once he came out from the back, he was not smiling, helpful or even nice. He seemed even more stressed and was being quite snippy and rude to those men and women who were there working for him. I get that people have their bad days, but if this is a running business, it needs to be sincere. And the vibes being put off were very uncomfortable. Again I believe this was a managerial issue, the line workers were very accommodating. I don't write reviews EVER, and I think this may just be my first on yelp, but the only other reason I'm writing is because my chicken is pink! The vibes are off here, if everyone just slows down and worked together I feel like this could have been avoided.

I'm not crazy about Garbanzo's - it's middle-of-the-road fast food, IMO - however, the servers here were absolutely lovely. Everyone, from the people packing our food to the cashier, was friendly and happy. SO refreshing! I would come back just for the smiles.

Very good food! Nice people! Just make sure that they have enough food. lol. A couple times we've gone in there during a dinner rush and they are completely out of half their food items. But if it is all there than they are more than happy to help serve you. Definitely recommend this place to friends!

Good Med. food prepared in front of you (similar to Chipotle). There are plenty of fresh sides for your plate or gyro and a choice of protein; I like the traditional gyro meat. They have plenty of seating.

In town on business, from California. Stopped by the one off 6th in golden, co and was impressed. Quick, delicious, and fairly healthy. Staff was very nice. People can't complain about it being a knock off Chipotle. It's just a genius business plan. Plus it's Greek not Mexican. If you get the opportunity to try, and love Greek food, then stop in.

Love this new location of Garbanzo close to home, but Garbanzo is pretty consistent from one store to the next. Nibble on a free falafel while you choose your order. Entrees include falafel, shwarma, kabobs, portobello, Greek salad and very good soups. Order it as a plate, wrap or stuffed pita. White or wheat pita. Fresh salads adorn the entrees - as many as you want from hummus, red cabbage, vegetable salad, babaganoush, tabouli, lettuce, red onions. Add in some seasoned rice. Choose your sauces from red chili, cilantro, tahini, tzatziki and Mediterranean garlic. I recommend that you make it a "meal" - another $3.00 for homemade kettle-style chips, dolmas, falafel or apple plus a soft drink. Including the meal deal you eat in or take out a great meal in the $10-$12 price range. It's fast and it's food, but it definitely isn't conventional "fast food." Clean stores, pleasant and knowledgeable staff, good food, lots of it, good value and consistency from store to store. You even have the feeling that you're eating pretty healthy at Garbanzo. Hard to argue with that recipe.

What the? No. I'm sorry, I know this place is popular, and yes I realize they're capitalizing on the success of a Chipotle-style wrap and service, but a Mediterranean burrito? Doesn't work for me. The hummus tasted sharp and weird and the babaganoush was just plain odd. Ordered my wrap with chicken and found maybe four pieces in the whole thing. The wrap was a huge mess of all kinds of things I couldn't make out. Lots of filler. The restaurant itself is new and nice enough, plus the falafel was fair - to - good, so two stars for that. But that's it.

Seems like a lot of reviewers didn't know what to expect. As they've said, Garbanzo is a fast casual Mediterranean spot. Think Chipotle with hummus. It's not particularly authentic, but then again neither is Chipotle. It is fast, and tastes good, and you have the chance to choose a large amount of vegetables, which is welcome, for me at least. Other reviewers are also spot on that the staff is always friendly. It's reasonably priced, and headquartered in Colorado. Would I choose Ali Baba instead? Of course, when I have extra time on my hands. But being on the south side of Golden during work, I'm very happy to have Garbanzo down the road.

I am insane in the membrane for Garbanzo's...when I noticed the newest location near my office i knew I needed to go! A quick call to the Good Doctor to meet for lunch and BOOM! I was getting my hummus fix! Its all good here...new location, lots and lots of staff, line moves quickly, food is fresh and the service has already been reasonably well-trained! I think there are some coupons floating around too if you live in the neighborhood so watch for those and go hit them up for some mediterreanean deiciousness!

Finally! Something fresh & new on this side of town as an option for lunch/dinner. I ventured over here the other day and thought I would hit it before the lunch rush. HA! The place was packed and me thinks it's because of the reason stated above. I have never been to a Garbanzo's before so I was excited to try it. The set up is much like a Chipotle or QDoba as far as the ordering. I did find it strange that there were about 7 people crammed in the small space behind the counter to do the different types of food prep and I am not sure if it made things go faster or not. I like the fact that they give you 1 free falafel to munch on while you are waiting in line and putting your order together. Compared to other places I have been where I have had falafel, I felt like it was a little overcooked but it wasn't bad. I ordered the chicken shwarma in a pita and I was impressed. The chicken had a nice flavor to it and everything else that was stuffed in the pita (hummus, lettuce & some other fresh veggies) was great. The only downfall to the location is the parking lot seems small for all that is going on over here - so parking is a pain. Anywhoo, I am sure I will be back when I am in the mood for something different for lunch that is relatively healthy.

Why, oh why, did I go here instead of driving a mere 5 minutes to Kipling & 10th and Saffron Grill. Garbanzo is the McD's of Middle Eastern food.

This is a pretty darn good falafel! I didn't love the flavor of the hummus but that's ok, I will do anything for a good falafel :) Much better than Falafel King and nicer employees too! I will be back.

Wow I'm so excited Garbanzo is finally open on the west side of town! I've been wondering for ages when we'd get one over this way and then imagine my excitement when I googled the construction I always drive past at Colfax & Indiana and found out, among other things, there was a Garbanzo coming! If you don't know, Garbanzo is like a mediterranean Chipotle. That's all you need to know. Just go - you won't be disappointed! You pick if you want a plate/pita sandwich/etc and then you go down the line and they put whatever you want in it. The food always tastes fresh and it's reasonably healthy compared to other fast food options (and depending on what you get) but most of all it's always delicious! I went late on opening night and there were a ton of staff there (they said it had been busy) but there were no real hiccups in service or quality. The only hiccup was walking in right behind three girls who had never been and didn't know what anything was or what they wanted. The staff were all very friendly even though they must have had a rough day. I'm so happy Garbanzo is here and I'll probably be back a little too frequently...

I tried Garbanzo's in the Colorado Mills mall area on 12/15 for lunch, hoping it would become our 'go-to' place for Mediterranean food. It won't be. For the high prices they charge (not advertised until you get there), I was expecting something other than a mediocre product. The Lemon Chicken soup with Orzo was mushy. The Orzo was overcooked and had soaked up whatever broth the soup was supposed to have. It wasn't really soup. The lentil soup wasn't much better. And the dolmades were slimey, packaged in a plastic bag, and quite tasteless. Of the four dolmades, I threw away 3 1/2. I had the steak plate with falafel. The steak was overcooked and chewy, and the falafel hard. The rice was ok, but not more than that. My wife's and my lunch, with no drinks, was over $23, so the food quality should have been there. It wasn't. My first visit to this fast-food version of Mediterranean cuisine will be my last. If in Golden, save your money and go to Ali Baba Grill instead. By the way, my dog liked the leftovers. I might ask for a refund. 1/4/13: I wrote to corporate headquarters throught their website on 12/17, explaining my experience and requesting a refund. I heard nothing back from them. On 1/2/13, I then wrote to the President of the company, and guess what? Within 8 hours I received an apology from the Customer Relations Manager. She authorized my refund. Not a good way to build customer loyalty.

Fine for what the options are around this area, but not truly authentic. Garbanzo bean soup was fresh, not overcooked. Sides weren't too bad. Quick service.

I LOVE Garbanzos very much. I have always liked them, after the first time I went there I knew I'd be back. I have tried most of the stuff and they will let you try anything on the line for free! It's so great that way you can make sure you like it BEFORE you get it. I love that. It's like the subway of Mediterranean places and they are pretty quick. I've really enjoyed the experiances I've had there and now they have Mint Lemonade...I'm totally in love...hmmm lunch is coming up very soon, might be time for a trip

Delicious addition to the Denver West eating choices. Garbanzos just opened up and already it's a hit with the lunch crowd. Be prepared to wait in line 7-10 minutes, which is not a burden considering the bliss that will enter your mouth after the wait. The food is fresh fresh fresh and tasty. I had the chicken shwarma/ falafel platter with hummus, babaganoush, and the cucumber salad. Lunch was light and healthy. YUM!

Healthy, fresh, fast and delicious! After driving by for weeks waiting for Garbanzo to open, my boyfriend and I were stoked to see the 'Now Open' sign yesterday so we screeched into the parking lot on 2 wheels with great anticipation! The staff were friendly and gave out free samples of falafel (YUM!), while we decided what type of mediterranean plate we wanted. We tried the Chicken and Steak Falarma plates with hummus, baba ganoush, and all the fixin's along with the mango hibiscus tea and loved all of it! I'd say we ended up with so much food, we had to ask for 'To Go' containers so we could finish it all later. Overall, definitely worth the price (comparable to Chipotle) for the amount of deliciousness piled on our plates. We rank this as one of our new favorite places to eat for healthy, fast and fresh food made to order, and decided Garbanzo reminds us of a mediterranean Chipotle (also echoed by another reviewer below :) This is a MUST try for those interested in a tasty fresh and fast alternative. Suggestions to make this review 5 stars: 1. Add a little more Shawarma (meat) to the plates to balance out the abundance of veggies/salads. 2. Provide a 'To-Go' menu with prices for those in the area who would like to order food to go for lunch at work and need to plan ahead (pricing, etc). Update: 1/1/2013 Went back a few days ago and decided to order my food online and pick it up to go. After paying online it said my food would be ready by 1:05pm. Upon arrival, apparently my order did not "print out", so they had to prepare my order right then which took another 10-minutes. Not helpful if you are in a hurry and trying to save time. After getting home, I realized one of my orders was incorrect (but still delicious, so we ate it anyway). My previous review was 4 stars, but after this last debacle my review dropped to 3 stars. I will be back but hesitant to order online again.

This is one of my favorite places to go for lunch. I really crave fresh, healthy food. This place has fast, fresh, delicious food. I love the steak falarma (steak and falafel). The mint lemonaid is also very very refreshing. I go back here very often, and will continue to do so. My only complaint is that the seating area is not nearly large enough. I have often had to wait and scope out a table for myself, my baby, and my friend and her baby. I wish they had double the seating, then they might have enough.

  • Bo B.

Went here for the first time today. The staff is nice kind of unorganized but the best part of the meal was probably the mint lemonade the rest was just mediocre. The rice was a bit sticky. The gyros meat was idly cut into percent rectangles just looked odd to me. The gets cheese is actually very good but you have to pay an extra .89 to have some sprinkled cheese on your food. The pita bread was tasty crispy and fluffy at sand time. He chips had an off taste don't know his to explain I. Might give it another try maybe next time I'll try a salad.

To say that this location was much better or worse than any other location of Garbanzo would be fatuous. If you've seen one, you've pretty much seen 'em all. That of course is the good news. Consistency across a set of chain restaurants is desirable. This section of retail shopping near Colorado Mills Mall is still under construction which might explain why the parking situation is a bit, umm, choked. Parking aside I had a fabulous lunch of falafel, hummus and various side salad dishes here. The iced green tea with lemon and ginger is a delectable blast of refreshment. Little did I realize it was Garbanzo's fifth anniversary day so they were awarding all loyalty members five times the loyalty points. I just thought they were super busy because the food is good, reasonably priced and relatively healthy (if you order right). That's all true as well, but bonus points for the bonus points.

My husband, daughter, and I attended the pre-opening practice night tonight. None of us had ever eaten at a Garbonzos before but I was very impressed. Despite the huge line, it moved fast and there were plenty of tables clean and ready after we ordered. It was super loud (like I said long line and full tables) but they still did a great job with the orders. I had the soup and half a stuffed pita with steak. My husband ordered a plate and a chicken laffa. My 3 year old daughter had the half a stuffed pita kids meal with an apple. It was all delicious but I was especially impressed with how much my daughter liked her meal! The prices were typical for this sort of order at the counter the sit and eat style restaurant but I felt like the portions were appropriate for the price. I thought the kid's meal was a great deal and I liked that they had typical kid friendly options (PB&J and grilled cheese) with a Mediterranean twist (both on pita) as well as smaller portions of the adult entrees. My daughter chose the stuffed pita and love it! They had a bit of an abbreviated menu tonight so I look forward to returning when they are less crowded and have the full menu available - but return I most definitely will! Additionally, the staff tonight was amazing! They were very well organized with people at the door to greet, someone to give a quick rundown of the menu and answer questions, and plenty of people behind the counter to prepare the food and cashier. Plus, they had a few people both inside and outside the restaurant offering samples. Well done Garbonzos!

I love Garbanzo so much that it was what I had this year for my B-Day dinner. I was so happy to see it go up and even happier when I tried the food for the 1st time. The staff is always friendly and the food is always fresh. I would highly recommend it.

I was shopping at Colorado Mills Mall, and driving around I spotted the new Garbanzo Mediterranean Grill. Sounds good, I think. Back home, I checked out their menu on-line to see what they offer, thinking perhaps I'll stop by this week for lunch. So, I go to their web-site, and all their menu items have calories listed, but no prices! How bizarre! What restaurant doesn't reveal their prices? Do they secretly charge per calorie or something? How is anyone to know what to expect to pay for a meal unless they've already gone out of their way to get there? As a devoted foodie, I'm not so much interested in what's offered by calorie, but what's offered by price, because price is a direct indication of ingredients, quality, and effort involved. Hmmm... I'll hold off judgement (and eating there) until I get a priced menu. If any fellow Yelper can scan and provide one, I'd be appreciative! Cheers! (P.S. This review was inadvertently posted on the W 32nd, Denver, Garbanzo Mediterranean Grill page, and I'm sorry for any confusion that may have resulted.) I stopped by the new Garbanzo Mediterranean Grill at Colorado Mills today (12/11) at around 11:00 AM. I wanted to see their operation (clean, nice and bright, many employees eager to please), and I wanted to get a paper copy of their menu that I could take back to work to share with my friends. To my puzzlement, the paper copies on premises don't have prices! Neither do the fax-in menu forms. This is weird, because these menus are for this outlet, not to be confused with the 14 other franchisees. Several employees were puzzled as to why the menus didn't have prices. One very helpful employee offered to write the prices down on the paper so I could take that with me, but unfortunately I didn't have time for that. They all thought that the prices were on the web-page, even though they aren't. Is this typical practice among similar types of restaurants? Chipotle, Tuk-Tuk, and Tokyo Joe's, by comparison, post their prices. What's up with Garbanzo's keep-them-guessing-until-they-arrive-at-the-counter approach to marketing? Does this tactic help them compete in a cut-throat market? Do people no longer really care what lunch will cost them and their friends at a new place? Is this the wave of the future with franchised concept eateries? Fellow Yelpers, your opinions, please!

I struggle to capture the essence of this place; it is, frankly, just not that good. As a lover of Middle Eastern food, I was thoroughly disappointed with this jloint. It's clean- that's a plus. It's just really not that good. Go to Chipotle instead (or better yet, walk across the street and buy your middle eastern food from Whole Foods.)
