Pinocchios Menu

The family met here for breakfast for the first time this Saturday and we had some mixed results. Great points: the fantastic aroma of Italian cooking as we entered, we were seated very quickly, we enjoyed the big mugs of coffee (wish the coffee were better) and it was not overly crowded and noisy in the dining room. The menu items were not your usual run-of-the- mill breakfast fare. Some definite italian inspiration in there and I must say that although green chile is not typically Italian, everyone whose plate included their green chile really enjoyed their spicy version. Our server worked all the tables in our room and she did a great job managing all the occupied tables, approximately 5-6 different parties. Some room for improvement: our party of 5 did not receive all our breakfast plates at the same time, our poached eggs were all poached "hard" and some people even said theirs were cold! I had the green chile benedict and the wonderful flavors on my plate more than made up for the hard poached eggs on top. Hubby had their spicy omelet with green chile and they offer a "low carb option" meaning no potatoes or fruit muffin. Hubby and I will definitely be back, but some of our group may not be as excited to return.

This is probably more of a 3.5, but I'll round up. This place is pretty solid, quality of food is good with many gluten free options. I highly recommend the toasted ravioli, it's amazing. I went for breakfast as well and it was also a pretty good meal.

Pretty good for Lafayette. If it was in boulder I'd only give it 3.

We went for lunch and found the food to be less than great. It was very salty and the gluten-free noodles weren't very good. I felt sick after we ate there. We won't be going back.

went for the first time last Friday night. Service was good (I think his name was Joshua), but the food was the worst "Italian food" we ever ate. Veal was tough, and tasted like is was poached in dishwater instead of sauted. my wife's dish was just as bad. The waiter noticed we didn't eat more than a couple bites and offered to "box it up", but I wouldn't have fed it to my dog. They were on a wait for dinner, so someone must like it there, but we wont be back.....

I like Pinocchio's very much, although I have found that some dishes are better than others and sometimes food can be fabulous and other times just good, so it is a bit inconsistent. My favorite dish is the Radiatorre Annie, very creamy and the taste is just delicious with the sundried tomatoes. Service tends to be good, although it can be slow at times. I recommend going earlier in the day to avoid the crowds during dinner time. They also have a good selection of kid meals.

Me and my mom couldn't figure out what we wanted. So my mom suggested this place. Never been, so I said why not. Let me just say before I comment on the service the food was good. I did enjoy that part. Anyways, We got there pretty empty place being it was a Monday night. I thought awesome faster food service, I was pretty hungry. We looked over the menu and the waitress, I don't know her name well because she never introduced herself, took our drink orders. She left for 3 mins and then took our appetizer order. I got soup and pizza rolls to start. We only took 5 minutes to look over the menu. Like I said I was hungry. The soup came out 15 minutes later.10 minutes after that the pizza rolls. I love ranch so I asked for that. Apparently the phone was more important and out of the 6 other staff members she is the only one that could answer the phone. I waited patiently considering she was on the phone. Another ten minutes and I grabbed another server. He didn't look thrilled to be sooooo caught of guard. *insert sarcasm here.* She eventually gets off the phone and then 30 minutes later we got our salad. How long does a salad take? Seriously. Ok so after another 15 minutes we get the main course by that time I'm full, not their fault of course. While we are waiting to come back over she decides to use her gift of gab and sit down with other staff like they are bored and hate their job. You got a job be happy, most people don't. Finally we get the bill and leave. What a disappointment on the service. I will never go back and I don't want anything from them. Hopefully they will think twice about their actions. As a server you're always on stage whether you think you're being watched or not.

Just OK food, pricey for what you get.

Really pricey for something really average.

This place is pretty good overall. They have toasted or fried ravioli which is pretty hard to find in CO. Love the downtown Lafayette location bringing business back to small main streets. Go check it out!

Great Italian restaurant if you're GF! The prices are definitely more for GF, and some of them are not quite worth it because you don't get as much food, so beware. (The ravioli, The fettucine alfredo, I think?), but some of them are to die for. Huge GF menu. And it's nice to have the options for appetizers to share with other people, and staff that is knowledgable so you don't get sick.

So disappointed we came here. The flat iron steak was half inedible because of grisel and the pinnochios linguine was purely awful. Blech. Expensive blech.

We haven't been here since it changed management. Did not care for the food under the old ownership. I am expecting much more, menu look solid.

Just OK Italian food and inexperienced wait staff. I was also surprised that they did not serve bread. What Italian restaurant doesn't serve bread?

  • Nichole F.

My husband and I had dinner here a couple of times when it was Sweet Tomato and he never cared for it. I convinced him to give it another shot since it is now Pinocchios and we were both very happy. Our server, Kevin, was excellent and recommended a wonderful mid range wine. The dinners and dessert were fantastic and we had a great time. Definitely going back.

  • Melissa H.

Did you take it down? There was a little plaque that my mother pointed out to me last time we were there. I almost took a picture and I should have. If you are dishonest too we certainly won't be back.

  • Al L.

Food is okay but when they have the pasta all you can eat stay away. They are just going for volume and are sacrificing quality. When not busy the food is very good. The kitchen staff cannot give adequate attention to the food when rushing.

We were delighted to discover this restaurant while looking for a place for a gluten- and dairy-allergic man to enjoy a birthday dinner with vegan friends. Piocchios had something delicious for everyone, including meat- and cheese-free dishes, gluten-free pasta, and even gluten-free chocolate cake for the birthday boy! I hadn't thought such a place existed!

  • Emily M.

I loved my experience here!! Very timely service, one of the best meals I've ever had (stuffed salmon), and the prices were reasonable compared to other date-like restaurants. The wine list is short (id recommend the Malbec) but the atmosphere and great menu are what really mattered to me. We will definitely return!

  • Kim M.

Loved everything about it. the food (chix picatta and lasagne) for me and my husband. the drinks(cabernet and draft coors light). the service (Judy). and the homey ambiance We will be back - just me and my hubbie and with his mom and others... so glad there is a place like this nearby.

We made a reservation for 8 ppl at 7pm and at 745pm we were told, apologetically by the server, that the owners wanted us out at 830pm. That would have been good to know when I made the reservation. Our server was very sweet and tried to make up for the downfalls of her employer but it was nearly impossible. It wasn't hard to figure out why this restaurant was empty at dinner time. The owner sent out bad vibes from the beginning. You'd think she would want revenue? I ordered the Pinocchio Penne and it was AWFUL. It was like they didn't drain the noodles and just served that as the "sauce" - it was clear that I didn't eat more than a bite and instead of refunding it on the bill we were charged automatic gratuity. gee, thanks. I was a server for 10 years and I know how added gratuity works for large parties - you don't add it if you aren't confident your service is worth that or more. This place was a complete disappointment - we eat out locally at least twice a week. We were hoping to add to our favorites list and instead we found a place we will NEVER go back to and never recommend. Advice to our nice server: Find a new job. You are better than your boss let's you be.

I used to love Pinocchio's. The portions were generous and they made the best calzones & pizzas in town. It was a place we took out of town visitors and special guests for a guaranteed delicious affordable meal & a great time. Sadly, the prices have gone way up and the quality of the food has gone down, especially the pizzas. Thin crust with scant smattering of cheese and almost no other ingredients for nearly $20 just does not cut it in this little town. The calzones are still good but used to come with a delicious garden salad. No more : you have to buy the salad a la carte, which just isn't worth it. The staff is friendly if slow. I would like to give a higher rating but don't want to mislead folks. This place can get expensive fast, and certain dishes are disappointing, so please be forewarned.

  • Justin S.

Terrible food, slow service! I was craving a pizza, so I decided to try a new place. The main dining area was dirty, curtains full of dust, many cosmetic repairs were fixed with tape, etc. The waitress looked like she rarely showered and needed drug rehab. The pizza sauce was so watered down that it actually made the dough soggy. I've had bad pizza, but this by far is the worst yet! Aside from terrible food, the crackhead we had waiting on us took 20 minutes to run my card. Don't bother trying this place!

    (1)
  • Julia S.

Super fast service was the highlight. The food was ok but the portions were quite small. We normally being home leftovers for lunch but neither of us had anything left. The main dining room was very loud and crowded so it was hard to enjoy. We would sit on the other side by the bar if we came again. Prices were higher than I expected for the area.

  • Megan D.

Very tasty handcrafted Italian pastas and great pizza! Staff was very friendly, great service, and even catered to our two crazy kiddos. So glad we found this gem so close to home!

  • Shalon M.

I've been to this location many times in the past years. I moved away, came back and went to Pinocchios - it definitely did not disappoint!! The restaurant has a great location, cute atmosphere, very attentive staff and great food!! The pepperoni rolls & artichoke dip are both so good, I have a hard time deciding which to order as an appetizer :-) The breadsticks that come with the side salads are also to die for! As far as the main courses, my husband and I haven't had a bad meal. We have tried the chicken parm, veal parm, spaghetti w/ meatballs & the chicken piccata - they are all delicious! If you are anywhere near Lafayette & feel like a great meal, I would recommend you give Pinocchios a try :-)

  • John ..

Don't go here. Absolutely the worst dinner experience ever. Not only was the food terrible, the owner made us feel like it was a pain that we were there. We are local and like to support local businesses but this place is not deserving. We won't be back. Don't waste your time or money.

  • Vickie S.

Visited Pinocchios last night for my birthday dinner. We wanted to go somewhere close to home. It was a great choice. The service was exceptional! By the way, if you go and are lucky enough to have Gina as your server, you are indeed fortunate. The food was flavorful, served hot and with nice presentation. The serving sizes are quite large for the price point; certainly more than we could finish so we happily brought our leftovers home which will be a nice treat for lunch. ;) We will definitely be going back when we get the urge for another "Italian night."

  • Jennifer K.

This review is based on breakfast. I won't go back. Bacon was so overcooked it just shattered when eating it. No silverware until after food was delivered. Sausage in the omelette was Italian sausage not breakfast sausage. They should advertise it that way, since they offer breakfast sausage. The servers and hostess was very friendly. I will come for dinner, spaghetti, and do a review for that. Again, this review is based on breakfast. Although I will say the blueberry pancakes were pretty yummy!

  • Jimmy B.

I ordered the Sausage Sandwich from the lunch menu. When it arrived I was really disappointed. There was a massive bun, a little cheese and almost no sausage or peppers. The taste was ok, but it was just a sad little depressing sandwich. The service this visit was like it was on my first visit, annoyed to have guests. Our server was never overly rude, it just seemed that she was frustrated to have tables. Ours and the other 2 in her section (it wasn't crowded or busy). When it came time to pay we asked for separate checks, what we got was the check split equally between the 3 of us. OK Food, Poor Service there are other options for lunch and I would recommend you try them first

    (2)
  • Sandy D.

I ordered the Hawaiian calzone - alot of bread and cheese. Hardly any ham and pineapple. Son got the gnocchi and it was mostly sauce. Desert was a carmel cake - paid $6 and the serving was a third of what was shown on the desert photo. Service was good. The west door into the restaurant did not close all the way, so it was really cold. The expensive meals lacked main ingredients that we definitely paid for!

  • Diana B.

We were very excited to try Pinocchios, but we were disappointed with the service. We were pretty much ignored by the two older female servers and my bf had to put his credit card on the table to get the ticket when we were ready to go. The young girl that was busing tables was friendly and attentive to us as well as the entire dining area. Kudos to her! We will be back, to give it another try as the food was pretty good. Hopefully the service will be better the second time around.

Not a good experience at atll. First,It was 1 o clock. And our waitress was drunk. She slurred her words and was shaky. The food was not presented very well at all. I think my Gnocchi was frozen. We had to send the tiramisu back. It was old and dry.The wine glass was dirty. We had to send that back also.Went there a year ago, and it was much better.

  • Joe G.

Great service staff. Very pleasant servers. The bruschetta was toats lish. The caesar dressing was homemade... Yummmmyyyy! Minestrone... Homemade and yummmooooo! I had the gnocchi with pesto cream sauce, cream sauced my pants it was so good :)

Ever in Lafayette, Pinocchios Italian Restaurant is a must. Their meatballs and sauce are out of this world! In a pinch for dinner? I have two words "Carry Out" Their homemade pizzas and calzones are amazing. Looking for something lighter- try their blackened salmon salad.......WOW. Great staff, great service, great food!

    (5)
  • Kimberly G.

Amazing presentation. More gluten free options than the average restaurant. Great homemade bread/noodles(gluten free). Wonderfully friendly staff, thank you Judy for all you do.

Worst experience I have ever had at a eating establishment. My family and I made reservations at 7, we ordered and received our food about 745. We were then told by our waitress that the owner said we had to be out by 830, even though the owner had been sweeping behind us, she had to tell her waitress to tell us. The owner is flat out rude. We then brought our own cake & asked for a knife.. Which the waitress said the owner is scared we will cut ourselves so they wouldn't allow it. The food was terrible, wouldn't even refund two plates in which didn't get touched because it tasted like shit. This place is utterly horrible. The waitress was nice at least. But I will never be returning here again for the fact of how the owner acted. I'm now throwing up because the food made me sick. Save your money don't come here!! It's sad because it was my brothers birthday and he personally chose This place, & after we left he apologized for picking pinocchios.

I think this is a great option for dinner in Lafayette- great service, very friendly, and awesome food- and you never have to wait! We were in and out in 45 minutes which was nice considering it was later in the evening on a week night. Great take out as well if you order in. Thanks!

I came here on a date the other night. The service was great, most of the food was excellent. I wasn't impressed with the quality of my main dish for the price I was paying.

Have tried many things here now. Gnocchi is delicious, salads are very good, and the staff is great. This is the best bet for Italian food anywhere around!

  • Isa B.

not going back. the food took for ever, we were the only table and the quality of the food was not even decent. My friend says the sauce is not made in-house....

    (1)
  • Jacob C.

The food was fairly decent, but the service was really bad - we were there for almost an hour and a half waiting for two standard short order breakfasts, nothing special in any diner anywhere in the country. The wait staff took forever, the check took forever to show up, it took a very long time to get coffee, and their only comment on the matter was that they were just slammed, which they weren't. Sure the place was full, but there wasn't a huge line or anything like that. There were four waitresses, plus busser and hostess, and they just couldn't get the service down at all, even though none of the waitstaff should have been overwhelmed in a place that size. It would probably be great in off-hours, but on a weekend morning, don't go unless you have plenty of time to kill and want to be ignored.

  • Zachary E.

Service was excellent. Very attentive staff, and quite knowledgeable about the menu, which was very helpful to my client (dining companion) and me. Bartender had a little trouble with his work, but acceptable. One of our dishes was somewhat overcooked, but the flavors were quite delicious and the sauce was very well done. I'd go back for another try without a doubt.

First time eating here and will not go back. Glad I had A living social deal. The service is horrible. Food is good but I can't get passed the service.

Had the spaghetti special with meatballs and the meatballs were amazing! Not to mention very inexpensive, person with me had the spinach salad which was full of blueberries, strawberries and Bacon! Quite yummy full of goodies and protein to boot! 3 of us at and were quite full for 30$ with tip! That of course was because of the specials. I have had 5 other entrees there and have loved them all. Motto mention they make there own vinagarette! Yummy. And Judy our server was great!

  • Candice B.

I'll start off by saying that when I go to restaurants, it's usually long after the dinner rush when it isn't busy, so that impacts my reviews. Pinnochio's is decent. Food is okay, but not exceptional. The staff has a tendency to stand around and socialize with each other at every given opportunity. The air conditioning is up REALLY HIGH. I can say that our waitperson was pretty good about refilling drinks at the right time and leaving us alone otherwise. The spicy sausage is REALLY spicy and delightful.

Had dinner on a Thursday evening with our small kiddos. I love northern Italian cuisine and ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo. It was fabulous. My husband ordered an entree and it was ok (can't remember which one). One of my girls ordered meatballs and the other buttered noodles. The buttered noodles had way too much butter on them and were almost not edible. The meatballs came *just* as 3 meatballs with nothing else. We mixed and matched dinners so that everyone had something they were satisfied with. For the price, we will only be going back to try again once more. I'm hoping for a better experience. Service was fine, a tad bit on the slow side. The place was very busy - a good sign on a Thursday night.

I absolutely LOVED this place!! I came for lunch. Got the lunch special, perfect proportion, perfect price! Excellent service. Very nice, greeting staff when we walked in. My favorite part was the homey feeling I got there!! The food was so awesome. Definitely will be back visiting soon!!

It's Friday night in July at 7:30pm, this place should be packed with a line out the door! Unfortunately, this is Lafayette, so moderately busy will have to do. It's mostly quiet empty nesters with a few younger couples obviously on dates. Not too many people with kids. The server was very attentive and friendly, and the food was good. The kids enjoyed it and we will come back.

  • Cori C.

Our second experience here was even better than the first. My husband had the Gnocchi and Meatballs, and I had the Tiana Chicken with potatoes, which was absolutely delicious. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. (She's the one that suggested the Tiana Chicken.) I don't mind that they don't offer a bread basket like most Italian restaurants do, because they give you a tasty breadstick with your salad when you order an entrée, and you can order them as an appetizer if you want more. That keeps me from filling up on bread so I can enjoy my main course. And compared to the other Italian places I've eaten around here, their food is actually good!

I was so excited to try the local Italian restaurant but particularly because of the extensive gluten free menu. I'm from Chicago originally and have missed good Italian for years. I decided to take my daughter here on her very last big sister date (as her brother is due in a few weeks). Things went like this: 1. Requested gf children's plate and was told there would be a $3 up charge, which is the same markup on adult plates. My attempt to query this was not understood by the waiter. (Smaller portion=smaller markup? No? No.) 2. Our artichoke dip came out cold. (Kept my mouth shut.) 3. Our meals came out halfway through the app. (Um.. K.) 4. My gf ravioli was actually crispy, as in way undercooked. I let the waiter know and he had no idea what to do... I asked if they would remake it (the sauce was delicious and I said so... I was nice, is my point) and he said yes. 15 minutes later he apologized and explained the gf pasta takes longer. 30 minutes later, my daughter is done and squirming in her seat and my meal is yet to be seen. At this point I just requested it be boxed and got dessert to go. 5. 5 minutes later I received my piping hot meal with the tiramisu set on top from the hostess, wordlessly. 6. My check was $50. 7. I asked for a manager, was rudely told there wasn't one, then begrudgingly directed to the only waitstaff over 21. 8. She was very apologetic and gracious and first offered a gift certificate (heck no, lady) then took half off the bill (yes, that is appropriate). 9. Got home and dug into my dinner... Which consisted of 4 crunchy ravioli (seriously?!) and 5 slices of way overcooked chicken... In a delicious sauce. 10. The tiramisu was great. Moral of the story: best of luck to you. Don't order the gf ravioli and don't skip dessert. We will not be back. The end

The portions are extremely small and I felt totally ripped off. I spent $60 for a meal for two and we both left hungry. Don't go there unless you want to spend alot of money for very little food. I definitely wont return

The food is par at best, service..like your bothering them, no management team on site except for the poor 16 year left in charge. I asked for easy over eggs & received over hard. After informing the waitress and she told the cook, she came back for the originals to prove to the cook that they were in fact cooked over hard (the cook didn't believe it), nice move to tell & do in front of customers. If your meal comes with pumpkin bread & you would rather have wheat expect to pay an up-charge for the bread preference. Also, don't go in there with large bills or you may see your waitress bolt across the street to the bank for change while you wait and hope that the bank doesnt have a long line. Never again. I will tell everyone I see & know about the poor food, service and customer care. Save your money and buy a tv dinner, it will taste better. Gave this place 1 star only because this site will not allow no stars.

We went there for the first time and was so disappointed. Everything was so bland. I could have made better pasta. I ordered the classic meatball pasta and the sauce is very watery. The meatballs were so bland. I asked the waiter if the sauce was homemade (I already knew the answer in my head), she bluntly said no! Unbelievable. My husband ordered the gnocchi and it was way to chewy. DO NOT GO!

This place always has excellent food and service! I am local to Lafayette for over 3 years and this place has always been a favorite of mine. Great pasta dishes as well as real calzones, and delicious salads and desserts. You have to try their original recipe of a " Radiatorre Annie" UH-mazing, and then my next fave would be the Pesto Ghnocci, so good, always cooked right. Also the Spinach dip and pepperoni rolls are perfect appetizers. Buon Appetito!

A good family restaurant. Casual dining. Decent Italian food at a reasonable price. They have an all you can eat spaghetti night that is a hit for my daughter. There are a couple of stand out waiters, hopefully you get one of them!

Started off poorly on a Friday night...had to wait 20 minutes for a table despite having a reservation, and seeing a few empty tables. Nobody behind bar to get drink or even some water while waiting (was pretty hot inside). When finally seated, server took sometime getting to us. They had very large wedding party that was monopolizing servers and kitchen. It took long time for our food to come out. When it did it was scalding hot...several burnt tongues at our table. Besides the boisterous wedding party, several parents let their kids run around the dining room. That's all fine and good, but not when you're expecting a more upscale italian eatery. Food was okay...will try again on a slower night.

Chicken Tiamo was outstanding. Most flavorful meal I've has in months. They allow dogs on the patio.

We're new to the area and have been slowly working our way around through restaurants in and around our community. On the recommendation of a friend we went to Pinocchios in Lafayette. As we drove up we noticed a bit of a wait...usually a good sign right. Parking was adequate (Saturday night) and it turns out we only waited 10 minutes for a table. While we were waitiing we also notice other families (we have a 3 year old in tow) and felt reassured that we wouldn't be getting any nasty looks over dinner (whew). We had checked out the website ahead of time and knew they had a kids menu...which was reassuring. Great service by our waitress, very good bread/salad as an appetizer. We had the house ravioli (amazing!) and the chicken parm (solid). All their sauces are made on demand...the extra bit of waiting was worthwhile! We look forward to our next visit and we're excited to try a few other items off their "just right" menu! Thanks for a great dinner!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
