Stopped in for lunch yesterday and was pleasantly surprised! The waitress was very nice and accommodated my rushed schedule. I had the Chicken Val'dostana and it was delicious! Breaded chicken with melted cheese stacked on top of of mashed potatoes and steam asparagus. The au jus was a perfect complement to the dish. They also offer half orders, which was perfect for lunch. I think I found my new favorite restaurant!! I'll be bringing my husband and friends back here.

Let me start by complimenting the chef -- the food was excellent. We enjoyed every bite of our Sunday brunch. I'm not a big omelette person, but the power green omelette looked appealing and ultimately did not disappoint. Id order it again if I had the chance! My gluten intolerant husband thoroughly enjoyed the Papusas. Great food all around! However, the service we received was practically nonexistent. Our water glasses remained empty (and our mouths parched) for so long that, after waiting and waiting, I had to get up and take them to the bar where the hostess and our server were to ask for a refill. Our bill came equally as slowly -- as if two completely empty plates and is donning I our winter gear again wasn't a big enough clue. I would love to enjoy the delicious food here again, but I would not want to suffer through service like that a second time. Between two servers and a hostess, and only a handful of tables, I expect better. Saying the staff was neglectful and not very observant is an understatement. We were really excited to try a new place, and I hope I can talk my husband into going back to try their dinner menu out one day. I'm doubtful, though. He was quite frustrated with the lack of attentiveness from our server.

I was looking for somewhat healthy takeout for dinner and this place caught my eye on Yelp with the mention of gluten free. I had the Brussels sprouts appetizer and Chicken Marsala and both were delicious. The eerie neglected shopping plaza in which this place is located caused me concern when I arrived. I wasn't even sure the bistro was open or still in business despite having just placed a takeout order on the phone. But lo, the door was open! And the inside was pleasant. The dinner menu in the restaurant had many more options than the menu online. The Brussels sprouts were small ones but a lot of them. Cooked tender with a little char, tasted savory and sweet with the sauce and topped with apple slivers and pistachios. The Chicken Marsala chicken was moist and the sauce was thin and pale but so flavorful and savory. The wine flavor was strong and perfect with the mushrooms and risotto. The server taking my order on the phone was very helpful with talking through gluten free options. They didn't have any utensils for takeout orders so bring your own fork.

This restaurant is closed and it's no loss because the owner could be surly, the service could be pretty bad and they didn't pay their rent. Usually pretty good food though.

My favorite place around. We relocated to Broomfield in the summer, and found this gem. The breakfast options and specials are outstanding, the lunch/dinner entries are so good, I don't want to share. My wife often orders the thai dishes, I get the Brussels sprouts for an appetizer. The Salvadorian breakfast features has me craving it all week long.
(5)Robert H.
Service was horrible at Sunday brunch (30 minutes to get our food, and it was almost empty), but the food was delicious. I had the pad Thai, and my son had the pancakes. Both were great.

Food-4 stars, Service 3 stars Husband had the prime rib sandwich and thought it was amazing. Cooked perfectly and melted in his mouth. He thought the cheese and prime rib were delicious together. I had a burger, it was just a burger. A $10 burger. The fries were fresh and crispy, topped with some parmesan cheese. Now on to the service...it was kinda bizarre. We came in on Sunday after church and no one said anything to us. There were employees sitting at the bar watching soccer. We sat down at bar table and 2 waitresses come over and tell us the same specials. They didn't seem to know the menu, maybe they were new but I say 'fake it until you make it'. Husband asked for the IPA on tap and waitress looked super confused. I seen some employees drinking beer, but hey, I'm not here to judge anyone's day drinking. It was Super Bowl Sunday. But probably best to hide the beer drinking from the patrons.

I was excited to finally stop in at the bistro. First, the ambience is really nice. They had some smooth jazz playing in the background the decor adds a touch of class to the dinning experience. Next, I ordered the Power Green Omelette for brunch and was quite pleased with its taste and portion: not a meager size at all. The staff was very friendly and catered to our needs. It was not that busy and they may have been a little to in too of things. My only complaint would be the lack of an espresso machine. My friend ordered and Americano and they said they did not have an espresso machine. Kind of odd since they had a full service bar. If you looking for a place that offers friendly device and a nice environment, I would suggest the bistro. The food was tasty and he staff was also friendly.

This is our all time favorite place for dinner. The chef is amazing and the location is pleasant. He has great beer on tap and delicious desserts.
(5)Rick S.
This place was hard to find, but a good find. In the shopping center next to Jax ranch supply. The restaurant layout/floor plan is odd, but the food was awesome. We ordered the chicken Marsala, and the chicken voldastana. Large portions and great presentation. We were even approached by the chef during our meal to see if we were enjoying it. Will go back here again when in Lafayette.

We went to this establishment for the first time on Thursday. It is a bit hard to find sitting in the back of a strip mall area of South Boulder Rd. I had read reviews and thought it would be good to try. It was fabulous. The atmosphere is very relaxed. We walked in and the waiter just asked us to pick our spot. During the meal there were couples coming in and out but the place never filled with noisy patrons. The food was excellent. We started with tasty bread with an infused butter which just wet our appetites. I had the special which was Scallops on a bed of parmesan risotto. Best Scallops I've had outside of San Francisco. My daughter had the Carbonara which was not the standard carbonara fair. It was very fresh and tasty. My wife had the Chicken Marsala which also was very good. Nothing was greasy or too over powering. This was a nice and peaceful place to have dinner. The food and conversation was able to be enjoyed without having to fight with either. We will definitely be going back.
(5)Clayton B.
Breakfast was incredible. I ordered the Polska kielbasa. The flavors were incredible. One of the best breakfast dishes I ever had. The breakfast potatoes were also the best I have ever had. This place is worth a try, it's worth two tries!
(5)kari b.
Don't give up on this place because you cannot find it! It's worth the search. I am SOOO happy about such a wonderful find for a very quiet dinner. Sometimes the noise and the crowds are just way too much on a Friday or Saturday night out. The atmosphere here is amazing. So quite, plus the service was attentive and cheerful. More importantly than the pleasant atmosphere, the food was out of this world! I had the duck with polenta, and my friend had scallops which were also divine. Yum all around. Cannot wait to get back.
(5)Regina M.
Everything we've had (and we've had most of it by now) is incredible!!! We order the Brussels sprouts and grilled cesar every time. The chicken marsala is the best we've ever had. I can barely resist ordering the chicken picatta every time but anytime I "branch out" with something new I love it! We've never had a problem with the service. Occasionally it takes longer but we're happy chatting and enjoying the food. I think if more people came to the restaurant they could afford more staff.
(5)Carmen O.
Best food ever!!! Had new york steak w mushroom sauce and rissotto... To die for!!!! You definitely need to check out this place!!!

If you can get over the fact that this restaurant has a bit of an identity crisis, you'll likely enjoy this place. They make good food, it's a comfortable place and the waiters/waitresses are very friendly. The day I went they were playing Mexican music, which made me crave Mexican food, yet there were no Mexican food items on the menu. The menu is fairly random, with seafood items, breakfast foods, burgers, ribs, even a pad Thai dish. There's no rhyme or reason to it, other than there is something on the menu for everyone and maybe that's what they're going for? The decor has pictures of Spanish dancers, and also of an Italian village. The tables, chairs and bar are dark wood and give the feel of a local tavern. All part of the "identity crisis," but it was a cute place and I like that it's local and in bike riding distance. And there are $5 mimosas for brunch. Prices for breakfast food are reasonable; higher than village inn but better quality too. For two people we spent $30 including tax and tip, no drinks. Their entree items for dinner seemed high, in the $18-$24 range, but there was also a lot of shrimp on the menu. I think there were some $12 or $13 items too, like the burger for example. I'm not a foodie but I like brunch, and I'd go again. I wouldn't have known it was even in this shopping center but for a sign they posted on the corner about brunch. They would do well to advertise on groupon or in some way that is more obvious to people because it's a great breakfast place to have in our town. I've lived here for over 30 years and usually know when a new place pops up, but had no clue this place existed. They would do well to advertise a little more.

WOW! I just ate here for the first time and man...was I impressed. I am a huge cook myself and have a deep appreciated for food...4 stars doesn't come easy for my palate. Ado, the chief, has done a fantastic job. The menu is interesting, eclectic, and very reasonably priced. The portions are big. I had the pork chop which was perfectly cooked and came with the mushroom risotto topped with this heavenly ginger, garlic bourbon sauce. Um...yeah...fantastic. My boyfriend had the Chicken Marsala and it did not disappoint. I can't remember the name of the dish my friend had but it came with the forbidden black rice and holy sh*t...I understand the name now. This place is a total GEM! Most definitely the best place to eat in Lafayette and surrounding towns. It rivals most places I've been in Boulder. I would love to see Bistro 503 move into a place on S Public with some more exposure...because it seems like that mall area has some big changes coming in the future. I wish Ado all the luck in the world. Do yourself a favor and go eat at Bistro 503...and then eat there again, and again, and again...
(4)K W.
Sea scallops with risotto were sublime. Reasonable price for the great food. Loved the jalapeño margarita too.
(5)Bee H.
If you've never got to 503 Cafe, now it's bigger and better as Bistro 503. Same great food! Friendly staff! My favorites are: The Salmon Dish, the NY Strip special, the pupusas, well, I guess I like everything. Some great wines to be had also. Be sure to check it out! And more great business are now at or coming to this location: The farmers market, a great bakery and a cheese shop and a brewery. This is a destination!
(5)Angela T.
I like Bistro 503. I've decided it's one of the better restaurants in Lafayette/Louisville. The salads are really good. I had the salmon salad for lunch today and salmon was cooked perfectly. From past experience the grilled Caesar salad is delicious and so are the fried brussel sprouts. People need to get over there and try it. I don't want them to go out of business :)
(4)M M.
SO impressed with this restaurant that I felt the need to leave a review. Two of us had lunch there last week. We had 2 different entrees and shared a appetizer-- mushroom crepes. One entrée was marsala chicken. Not sure of name on other. But it was chicken dish with sauce, asparagus spears over garlic mashed potatoes. Besides everything above being so awesome. The bread was to die for. Best bread I've ever had. Environment very relaxing and quiet. Quick service. I'd checked their menu online before going. But was pleasantly surprised when I got there and there were many other choices. I just can't believe there is an exceptional restaurant like this in Lafayette. This is NOW my favorite restaurant.
(5)Chris D.
Fantastic food that outshines any place we've been to in Boulder or Denver so far, particularly when you factor in price. My wife and I go to nice places like this maybe once a month, and get really irritated when we spend a lot of money and feel like we've had better meals at fast casual places (yes, these are first world problems). We have made it a point to try out Boulder's top rated places and found this place much better - food was high quality with quality ingredients and service was friendly and fast. We typically don't go to strip malls for dinner but the Lafayette Marketplace is genuinely cool with a thai place, brewery, bakery, coffee shop, mexican, and this place. They all seem to be working together. Oh, and we had the scallops (ridiculously good), chicken picatta, and mushroom crepes. Overall, I picked up a vibe like this place is trying to get the word out, particularly given its somewhat hidden location - but I think the east Boulder County crowd is now discerning enough that this place will thrive. All the good places in Lafayette are now packed, which to me indicates an undersupply off great food like this place has. If its good, people will find it.
(5)Jocelyn G.
We are new to the area and just went to Bistro 503, it was delicious! This is such a find! We had a great experience. The servers were friendly, the atmosphere was intimate, and we were able to meet and thank the chef. The best items on the menu were the mushroom crepes, the carbonara pasta, the salmon, and the forbidden rice. All were so yummy!! The chef is amazing! We will definitely be back soon!
(5)Theresa S.
It's not super obvious, but if you park in plentiful spaces around the Taco Bell and then just enter the main building, you can walk through it to the south side which is where this restaurant is. There's a lot of parking on the south side of the building too, but it's not readily visible from the street. I had the Chicken Marsala that comes with mushroom risotto, and this is the BEST FOOD I've eaten in Lafayette in the past 9 years (except maybe for the departed Kasbah restaurant). Will be going back!
(5)Jamie G.
This place is amazing. Their scallops and zucchini risotto is the most delicious thing ever. It isn't on the menu but it is their special 24/7. Order it. You won't regret it.
(5)Patrick P.
This place is worth finding inside the shopping center at the Southeast corner of S. Boulder and Hwy 287 in Lafayette. The fried brussel sprout appetizer was delicious and plentiful, and our entrees of Stuffed Chayote (great risotto!) and Salmon Salad were perfectly prepared. Everything was reasonably priced, and the service was excellent, with appearances by the owner/chef as well as our server. We're heading back for brunch/Lafayette Farmers Market on Sunday morning!
(4)Justin T.
We ate there last Friday night. This is a great restaurant and we were surprised it was fairly empty around 7 pm. If this place was in Downtown Denver, it would be packed. The food is really good and the service too. I had the scallops for my entrée (a daily special). They were perfectly done and the accompanying sauce was quite tasty. We highly recommend it. It is hard to find. It is next to Jax in the mall.
(5)Sumanth C.
Tasty food, every time! Here are my recommendations: the Fried Brussels (appetizer), the Stuffed Chayote, and any dish with Forbidden Black Rice. The place is slightly hard to find the first time, but certainly worth it!
(5)Robert K.
A little hidden gem. Have tried several dishes and all were good to great.
(4)Shana W.
I've been here twice now and both experiences were decidedly mediocre. The first visit, I had a cobb salad that sat under the heat lamps for several minutes (despite me being basically the only person getting food in the restaurant) and was wilted by the time it got to me. The second time, I got a grilled artichoke (that was so overcooked it tasted like boiled broccoli) and an overpriced meh pork chop. If the price was lower, I wouldn't have minded, but it just wasn't worth what we paid. Also, the service by the owner was gruff and distinctly unwelcoming. The Boulder area food scene is way too good to get an overpriced dish with service from someone who seems to be inconvenienced by your presence. I won't be back.
(2)Mark R.
First time here was for dinner just after opening and we were blown away. Delicious food. Then a few weeks later we came back and breakfast is incredible! I'm a huge fan of the omelets. They are very well prepared and the vegan breakfast was great too. Staff is great. Not a complaint from any visit here.
(5)AE S.
The most amazing Gem in Lafayette. Initially we found this place searching for food on Yelp. The Chicken Marsala is my favorite. However, all dishes I've tried have been amazing. The food is fresh, flavors are bold and the owner is customer service driven. It's always a great experience. I agree with another reviewer in that it's unfortunate that the ratings for 503 Cafe didn't carry over. YUM!
(5)Marce O.
We went with our family of 4. Worried at first they didn't have a kids menu but they did grilled cheese and chicken strips. I had scallops and hubby had chicken both very good. Great food and service!
(5)david s.
Another great experience at Bistro 503. This time breakfast. My wife and I had the Eggs Benedict. Wow! The best Benedict we ever had. They even made gluten-free polenta cakes specially for us. We did have to call ahead the day before but they were happy to do it. Beautifully crafted dish with the extra special addition of a light basil pesto under the polenta cakes which were lightly coated with fontina cheese. I don't often do hollandaise sauce so when I do I want something special. This hollandaise atop the eggs was perfection. The addition of crispy prosciutto took this dish to another level. This is truly a first-class restaurant tucked away in a nondescript shopping center in Lafayette. Don't miss it.
(5)Mike L.
Went their for a dinner meeting. I was astounded at how good the food was. Nice atmosphere. Tucked away in a mall I didn't know existed. Definitely will return to try out more items on the menu.
(5)Kyle G.
Let me start by pointing out how great the food here is. Modern-style mix from American cuisine to Latin American, Italian, and also Chinese. I have eaten here many times and the food never disappoints...that is, when I get it. I would essentislly give 5 stars if I was talking PURELY for the /taste/presentation/quality of the food. However as I am having to review the entire restaurant experience, I have no choice but to give a 2 stars instead for the reasons stated below. I just have to talk about the front-of-house service (or unfortunate lack thereof). This is a reoccurring theme here at Bistro 503 and I hope that some time soon this is talked about/dealt with:) by staff here: Today will be my example of the overall service. I walked into the restaurant at 12:20pm on Sunday. At 12:23pm a waitress came to seat me. I told her that I was a party of one and as with most single parties, she obviously asked if I would like to sit at the bar. I walked over to the bar which was empty and without lighting. It was clear to me that there was nobody working the bar but I sat down anyway. At 12:35pm a waitress walked to the register next to the bar, looked over to me and asked that surely I had been helped already, to which I admitted that I hadn't. She apologized, and told me that she normally would just take my order -which takes no more than ten seconds - but that she had just gotten a big table of seven and told me that someone would be over soon to take my order. 12:40: another waitress walked by and asked if I had been helped. Repeated my answer that I gave already. She took my drink order and came back within a minute to drop that off. Being right next to the register, I could easily overhear the watresses talking about how "Give table xyz a discount" "These guys get 50% discount because they have been waiting 45 minutes" ect, so it was clear to me that they were completely understaffed, or improperly trained. At 12:43 a waitress came to take my order. I ordered Eggs Benedict which is always delicious here. It is now 1:05pm and my order just arrived. I would like also, to point out that just now another waitress brought me a second pair of silverware even though I clearly already had a set right next to my plate. I mention this to show the obvious lack of communication that is going on amongst the front of house staff; literally running around aimlessly as if they are lost in the wilderness. Edit: 1:51pm: I have left the restaurant after a great meal and terrible service. Being next to the register I overheard my "waitress" ask another waitress if she could "have a dollar and I will repay you later". What for, you ask? To give me the proper change on my bill of $13 and some change. Not sure why she was low on money being they were extremely busy today. And as a matter of fact I ended up getting $1 more in change most likely because waitress had no coins. Definitely some things there that have to be sorted out. Regardless, the food is so good that I will probably go back again in a week!
(2)Jenni K.
Outstanding food!!!! The flavors are great and the variety of ingredients are so unique but so flavorful. Love this place. Have to check out the new location yet, but I would eat here every day if I could, Mushroom Crepes are awesome!!!!
(5)Brianna P.
I'm really surprised by all the positive reviews of this place. I went for brunch on Sunday and the service was awful. I ordered the steak breakfast burrito, which was suppose to come with sauce on it so I asked for some extra on the side, well they didn't put any on the burrito and the side barely covered the bottom of the ramekin. I asked for an additional side only to receive less than the first time and then charged 2.00. The steak were little balls of meat...questionable steak. The table next to me ordered a Bloody Mary and didn't get it until half way through his meal, which I'm pretty sure they were still charged for. They didn't even put ice in my water. The potatoes were good, but not so good to ever return. I had to get up to get any condiments I needed for the meal. Part of the reason people go out is for the service, what's the point if it's going to ruin an entire meal. Will never return and word of mouth is a powerful tool!
(1)Sharif A.
Yum ! Excellent food. We had the grilled artichoke appetizer followed by the seared scallop on risotto special. The flavors were well balanced, the textures wonderful in the mouth. Service was friendly but not gushy ... just the way we like it. The atmosphere is simple and classic. This restaurant is in the Plaza Lafayette building on S. Boulder Rd. You have to either drive around the back of the complex or walk through the atrium to find it, but when you do find it, it's well worth the visit.
(4)Wendy K.
I ate here for dinner last night with a friend and absolutely loved it. We were greeted by the owner/chef who was attentive throughout the meal. I had the chicken Marsala with risotto and my friend had the steak special with onions and peppercorns. We each had a glass of wine and both were quite good and reasonably priced. Everything was delicious. We had a chocolate cake for dessert that was rich and moist. The food here was better than I have had in some of the fanciest places in Boulder. The atmosphere is great. You should check it out.
(5)Margo S.
Make sure you try this one. It's a little hard to find - better signage would help. The food is really good. The sea scallops were amazing, the risotto delicious, the salmon was terrific - and the brussels sprouts. Who knew? Just awesome as an app or a side, huge portion. Mushroom crepes were yummy. Wine list is quite brief but each choice is decent for sure. The hostess and servers are quite young. They need training. The owner/chef waited on us, and he was great, so it all worked out, but truly... The service needs to up its game to match the caliber of the food. Spread the wrod!
(4)Dale Z.
Went there around 8 pm on a Sat night there were maybe 3 tables with customers and a few people at the bar. We ordered 2 chicken dishes I asked about the Chicken Piccata dish and the waitress said it is salty. I asked if the 2 chicken dishes we ended up ordering were salty and she said no. When our food came the waitress literally threw both plates down saying the plates were hot, she had no eye contact and just walked away. The Chicken Marsala which my husband ordered was salty but not as salty as my chicken so we switched and I had his. The waitress did not come back until my husband was 75% done with his meal when she saw we switched plates I told her how salty mine was, she said do you want something else. Maybe had she come over 15 minutes earlier we may have. Aside from being to salty the chicken was tender, the sides were OK nothing special. The couple behind us kept looking for our waitress so they could get the bill, they finally had to get up and find her. Now I could see if the place were crowded but it was not at all. The bill for the 2 chicken dishes and one draft beer with tip and tax was $48. Maybe if we decided to go back we would order something besides the salty chicken, and hope to get better service.

Fine food in a casual atmosphere. Incredible crab cakes, luscious mushroom crepe. Grilled pork chop with corn mushroom risotto is sooo tasty. As was the grilled strip with mushrooms and tomatoes and Parmesan risotto. Good for families or dates.
(5)ty o.
Just tried this restaurant on yelp recommendations. The food was amazing and bursting with flavor. We started with the crab cakes which were very good. Followed with the artichoke which was the only miss as it was undercooked. Shared the scallops and a chicken dish (can't recall the name). These were some of the best dishes I've ever had. I've been to all of the restaurants in Boulder and most in Louisville. The food here is near the top.

It's too bad that the reviews from the old location didn't carry over, but if you've read them, you'll get a good idea of why I've become a regular at 503. One of my favorites at lunch is the prime rib sandwich, but I may have a new lunch favorite - I'll call it "Chicken Jim", a new special I had on Friday. The base sandwich is a freshly ground chicken patty, lightly seasoned with fresh ginger, encrusted in prosciutto and cooked perfectly, then covered with a wonderful pineapple chutney (with sautéed onions, red bell peppers and a touch of peppercorn). The top bun has a delightfully cool sauce made from fresh avocados and sweet El Salvadorian sour cream. I don't know what 503 will call it, but "Chicken Jim" is a fabulous upgrade to any chicken sandwich or burger you've had any where else. Plated beautifully with their homemade Russian potato salad, the dish is beautiful to look at. The sandwich is light, summery, and filling (just under a half pound of chicken) and love at second bite. The first bite is wonderful, but it's the second bite that wakes up the taste buds. The sweetness of the chutney begins to kick in and you'll get a small after kick from the red peppers and peppercorns, all tempered by the coolness of the new sauce. I don't like beets, but enjoyed the accompanying Russian potato salad. Neither heavy or overpowering, it was a nice complement to the sandwich. (You may be wondering - why have that if I don't like beets? For the same reason I have their signature Brussels sprouts appetizer dish when I hate Brussels sprouts - 503 culinary magic that just messes with your taste buds to allow them to e joy the stuff you hated as a kid). For now, it looks like "Chicken Jim" will be an occasional lunch special, and, if popular enough, may find a place on the regular menu. In the meantime, taste on for yourself and help figure out a proper name for it - "Chicken Delight" or "Colorado Summer Chicken" come to mind as other options. If you try this sandwich and like it, please let the folks at 503 know and maybe we will see this on a regular basis. I've learned a lot about food and flavors since we've become 503 regulars, but the biggest thing is to try things that sound like they may be out of my comfort zone (the eggs Benedict at breakfast, the prime rib sandwich at lunch and the fabulous chicken Masala at dinner). I've found at 503 if something sounds good, it just is. I'll add more reviews at a later time - there are still some growing pains at the new place - not unexpected when they now have 3 or 4 times the space they had before - and there are big plans for menu, bar, and entertainment options down the road. For now, be patient, but be prepared to experience great food!

I went into the Bistro 503 tonight. It was a shame to see how slow it was. the service was outstanding by their only server who was working. The food was outstanding, freshly prepared and quickly served. I will be back. I had no idea they even were here until I used Google to find this place. Outstanding - thank you.
(4)Robert P.
Very pleasantly surprised. A friendly neighborhood restaurant. We have been wanting to go here for a while and finally made it. We had scallops and salmon and both were very good. Atmosphere is relaxed and service was good. It is nice to have casual dining that is not a chain.
(4)Alan L.
Been there twice for dinner. Both times the food was great. Shrimp and scallops specials were really good. Wish they had a few more veggie friendly dishes on menu.
(5)Jill L.
We went to Bistro 503 for breakfast when it was still on S Public and really enjoyed it. We hadn't made it to their new location until last night. It was empty when we showed up at 7:30 but people showed up later. The space itself is a little strange- all tables, no booths, so it felt a little cold. But the food made up for it. We had the scallops and mushroom crepes. Both were outstanding. The server was very nice, had the daily specials speech down perfectly. We were extremely and pleasantly surprised by the food and service. We will definitely go back. We just hope that they stay in business since it was so slow on a Thursday night.
(4)Scott L.
I sat alone at the bar for lunch and the hostess accommodated me by turning on the TV, and offering a local brew as well as a recommended pairing, a steak sandwich with a choice of salad or french-fries. I chose the Caesar Salad. I finished my first beer before the salad and sandwich appeared. It was a surprising wait considering the sparse lunch crowd. I ordered another beer, and wished I'd been able to stop the lunch from appearing. When it did arrive I was amazed that the salad was a wilted head of Romaine lettuce sliced lengthwise in half with a drizzle of dressing? What? Chef did not have time to cut lettuce? He also did not have much time to make a decent steak sandwich: No steak, but plenty of mushrooms and melted cheese that made a complete mess when I attempted to lift the snot-like pile off the plate. Gross. Fortunately, I like mushrooms, but even the buzz from the beers could not make me bite the salad.

Awesome food and great service! The chef came out and introduced himself which was so nice. I hope to try this place again sometime soon.

I really, really wanted to like this place as I am a very big supporter of locally owned and operated establishments. Unfortunately, it really missed the mark. My Mom was visiting from out of state and I thought it would be a nice treat for her first night in CO. She is 2hrs ahead so she was ready to eat early. We arrived at 5:00 and there were no other customers in the restaurant. We opted to sit outside which was nice. We ordered crab cakes as an appetizer. They were okay, but tasted a bit too out of the package/freezer. Very dense and slightly overcooked and the overall texture wasn't pleasing. The bread was just okay as well. The flavor was okay but it tasted like it had been made the day before and was fairly close to being stale. The herb butter was good. My Mom ordered the shrimp pasta and was unimpressed. I tried it and agreed. Very bland flavors and very heavy and huge fettuccini pasta that was too al dente. I was really looking forward to the scallop special, but alas, another disappointment. :( The scallops were prepared well but the dish has way too much going on flavor wise and the risotto was overcooked. Rather than balance, the multitude of flavors and textures were duking it out on the plate and palate resulting in an overall unpleasant experience. We left around 6:00 and we saw only 2 others who had just arrived.

Awesome food with great variety and super service. Their new place is much larger and is already busy. Bistro 503 is a great addition to Lafayette.

First time at their new location. Outstanding breakfast, both quality and value! Visited former location many times and always impressed by many of his dinners, and expect the same here. Ambiance of new location is much improved. No need to travel to other hot locations for an excellent meal. GO to Bistro 503!

Went this evening (Sunday) for dinner. The chicken piccata was OUTSTANDING. The waitress recommended the Arcangelo Negro red wine, which was very very good. The restaurant has an elegant really beautiful interior. Beautiful bar area, too. Wine selection good and affordable priced by the glass. There is an outdoor patio on the back side of the shopping center. The outdoor patio is raised, faces a pretty promenade and pavilion, has umbrella-ed tables and cushioned chairs. It would be a great place for a happy hour with friends. Restaurant would also be appropriate for a corporate dinner. We were very impressed but concerned not more people in the restaurant - you have to know they are there. They are next door to Jax sporting goods on South Boulder road. The closest entrance and patio are actually on the back side (like if you drive around back of Jax). Entrees start at $14. It's reasonably priced for the quality of food -- you get a really gourmet experience. The dinner comes with warm herbed bread and herbed butter.

I had lunch at my favorite Lafayette Restaurant today, Bistro 503. As always, the food was delicious!! The owner and the servers are great people. Always willing to make you feel at home. They recently re-located and are still working out the kinks, but it is worth the time to go and try it. Like any good and worthwhile establishment sometimes the customer has to be patient especially when the food is prepared to order. We have never had a bad meal there. The ambiance and decor are great for the International Cuisine they serve, and they are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner! We highly recommend Bistro 503!

I'm not quite sure what all the praise is about. We dined here last Saturday. Walking in, the atmosphere felt very stark, cold and uninviting. There were only a few tables seated yet it took almost 10 minutes for any wait staff to come over to us. We were just about to get up and leave when someone finally came by. As for the food, I ordered the stuffed chayote, when it arrived it was cold and really had no flavor at all. My wife ordered a cobb salad that she said was just ok, nothing special. We really wanted to like this place, maybe we were just there on an off night, but for the price and poor experience, I really don't think we'll be going back.
