I had to head over to Kiowa, the Elbert County Seat. I decided to grab lunch while I was there, so I stopped into the Kiowa Creek Cafe. I had wanted to go here before, but they are open Mon-Sat 7am to 2pm, and I had always been in the neighborhood on a Sunday. The place is not much to look at from the street, and it is a bit of a "hole in the wall". The inside is pretty dated, but comfortable. However, do not let first impressions fool you. The food here is very good, and the service is excellent. The place is a bit of a "cell reception dead-zone", but they offer open and fast Wi-Fi. Unlike Patty Ann's cafe next door, the Kiowa Creek Cafe does accept credit cards. My waitress and cashier was "Sam". She was very friendly, efficient, and helpful. The special of the day was three pieces of fried chicken with sides of corn and potato salad. Sam recommended it, and she did not steer me wrong. The chicken was "double-fried", I did not catch all the cooking process details, but suffice it to say that is was some of the crunchiest coating I have ever had on chicken. It was also incredibly moist. The seasoning was very basic (maybe just some salt). The pieces were average-sized. The corn was excellent; the little bit of butter made it quite tasty, and the potato salad was just fine.
