I will try Marion's again next time I'm in town, and I might upgrade my rating based on the food. My food was good today, but I ordered something pretty easy to get right. Ambiance gets a 1, but this is a working-class mountain town so one could adjust to a context-considered 3. Top marks for service and friendliness. The only negative was the taste of my water, either a bad freezer burn or dirty ice machine.

The breakfast burrito is a must before a day of skiing or boarding! Service=2 star Ambiance=3 star Food=4 star Price=4 star

We stopped here in spite of Wildfire looking much busier Think we caught Marions in a momentary lull as it filled up while we were eating. Five star breakfast. The pecan pancakes were phenomenal. Western omelette very good and they subbed mushrooms for onions and bacon for ham. Lots of crispy bacon! The green chile sauce was a fantastic pork stew. Too much food for us. The dogs were really stoked!

Comfort food at it's best. The omelets rock!

Based on yelp reviews, we decided to try Marion's of the Rockies. It did not disappoint. Breakfast was served piping hot, and included generous portions. There were four in our group, and each person ordered something different. We were all really pleased. There was even a yelp check-in bonus that gave us each a free drink (yeah!).

Since we spend my birthday in Idaho Springs every year, Marion's is generally where I eat breakfast in jubilation the day after. I am a huge fan of their breakfast burrito. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and definitely geared toward the whole family. The service is great. They always make sure your coffee is warm and full. They serve up so much food I've never been able to clean my plate. If you are in the Idaho Springs area and need a good hearty meal, I recommend Marion's.

I just had the BEST omelette I have ever had in my entire life. It seriously was that good! If you like green chile go for the Mexican omelette. DE-LISH!!! The people were very friendly and service was good too! We usually stop at Beau Jo's when we are coming down the mountian but were in the mood for breakfast food today. Sooo glad we picked this place. We will be back!!

Good food and service. The breakfast was good. Eggs. Toast. Hash browns. And bacon. They made my bacon crunchy like I like it :)

Big breakfast. Good service. It probably helps that we woke up at our campsite in Golden, Colorado with fresh snow on the ground and mixed sleet and snow coming down. So a fresh cup of coffee and a hot breakfast could have been just about anything to make me happy. But the fact that both Shelby and I left part of our breakfasts on the plate as there was more then we could eat is pretty amazing.

I really wanted to like this place based on other reviews. Don't fall for it! The egg Benedict with sauteed mushrooms was hollandaise soup with inedibly salty canned mushrooms and mealy tomatoes. I couldn't even eat it. My husband's fries were coated with seasoned salt (mostly MSG). Nothing in the interior has been replaced or refreshed in twenty+ years. Two stars instead of one because the service was efficient, if rather chilly.

This is the quintessential breakfast spot to go before heading up to the mountains. It has become an institution for my family. First walking in, Marion's looks like nothing special and is filled with cigarette smoke. Don't be put off...the breakfast your about it eat will make you want to come back time and time again. I usually get the chocolate chip pancakes (the kid in me)! I dream of a breakfast at Marion's simply for the reason that it reminds me of my early mornings as a child, strapping up in all my ski gear, getting ready to hit the slopes!

I visited Marion's on a whim driving back to Denver from Vail with my mother. I had been craving fried chicken and we decided to try this place in the hopes that they would have it on the menu. We had tried a couple of other restaurants in Idaho Springs, but they were pretty lackluster. The place is dated and dingy, yet still has a quaint sort of charm to it none the less. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We walked in and saw that fried chicken was the lunch special that day! I was pretty psyched and the waitress told us that people in town often call to see if they have the chicken on the menu that day so it must be good! I have to say, I was very satisfied. 3 pieces of chicken, a side and soup or salad for $9. The chicken was moist, flavorful, juicy and crunchy. I am a fried chicken lover and am disappointed more often than not 80% of the time. Not here! It is great, and I will be making a special trip here for the chicken the next time I visit my mother!

Really good affordable breakfast. So much better than an ihop or village inn. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful and the food was wonderful. Good sized portions and good prices. Would definitely recommend if you're in town looking for some good breakfast

We stopped in here for Breakfast before our mountain adventure. -The blueberry pancakes were huge and delicious. -The hash browns were good and not too greasy. -prices were fair -Good service My husband had the mushroom omelette, it was packed with shrooms and looked tasty. Decor was a bit outdated, but who cares, the food was great!

This is not your trendy Colorado brunch spot, but it's definitely tasty. I had the breakfast burrito with half green chile and half sausage gravy per another Yelper's recommendation and it was fantastic. If you're thinking about Biscuits & Gravy, I'd recommend instead to go with the Breakfast Burrito smothered in gravy (they also have vegetarian gravies of each kind). If you're traveling like we were and need a spot to jump in and fill up I'd definitely recommend dropping in.

I ate the Country Burrito at Marion's about three weeks ago, and I'm still full. My wife and I stopped at Marion's on a road trip between Breckenridge and Boulder. Marion's is on the main drag in Idaho Springs. We stopped in on a Saturday morning, and had to wait about ten minutes to get seated. Looked like a lot of families in the area and ski-goers stop by here. The interior is pretty straightforward, you can tell that you're here for the food. The wait staff was incredibly friendly, chatting both me and my wife up and talking through the various menu options. Back to the Country Burrito for a moment: This thing is covered in gravy and filled with cheese. It's also larger than any burrito I've ever seen. Unbelievable. The gravy was easily the best part of the burrito. I started picking around the potatoes and tortilla at the end, and left about a quarter of it still on the plate. Prices were reasonable (not super cheap, but on par with a lot of diner trips I've made recently). I'd definitely recommend to folks in the area looking for a good bite to eat.

Floral rugged interior welcomes you into a quiet breakfast stop. The menu contains your basic breakfast wants. Ordered the Denver omelette and the pecan pancakes. My wife had eggs Benedict. The food was average breakfast taste. We were not wowed by the presentation or flavor. The coffee was par. Eat here for a quick breakfast and coffee with two locals..... Nothing more, nothing less.

The food was pretty good - actually biscuits and gravy was real good - but the place needs a facelift and service was slow (and it wasn't THAT busy). Based on the crowd (mostly older people) maybe I'm missing the charm of the place.

  • Mike R.

Mexican skillet is the best! Get tortillas instead of toast and make your own burritos. Be a little patient with the service. They're working hard and are very accommodating once you're at your table.

Ok, So the night before was a long one. MY girlfriend had a friend in town and..... lets just say the Lower Downtown (Lodo) bar crowd will be something I do not miss. I was hung over, and so was the girlfriend. We had this plan of breakfast of some kind, and she went on that village inn was not what she wanted. She wanted a family place. So I thank Yelp for finding this on our day trip to Summit County. We walk into the place and there was a line, Some old guy is pissed and wants to go somewhere else. We waited 10 minutes, got seated and ordered. Next was the most amazing moment of my food life. The Country Burrito, this massive wrap of goodness smother in gravy AND cheese! Good lord, I want that every day for the rest of my life. If you are looking for a good, family style place. Go here. Quick, easy and filling. I will always return.

I can't imagine much has changed over the years when it comes to Marions, whether it's the food or the decor and that's what makes it so amazing. The portions are gigantic, everything is made from scratch and the service is fantastic. The biscuits and gravy was incredible, the biscuits were soft and chewy yet dense enough to hold up to the rich and creamy sausage gravy. The Evans Benedict is clearly the highlight of the menu and is way too big to finish in one sitting. Highly recommended if you are looking for a place to eat on i70.

Locals eat here. Huge portions and great breakfast menu. Eclectic decor. I had eggs Benedict which were cooked perfectly with a side of hash browns . Could not finish it.

The perfect not-fancy-but-delicious spot. I had the pork chops, nice thick cuts. My hubby had the chicken fried steak-soooooo good! My son had a cinnamon roll which was warm and delicious. I also had a bloody mary which was great. The prices are right and the service was quick and friendly. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

The minute you walk in to this restaurant, you're greeted by a comfortable atmosphere and friendly staff. My party and I came here for breakfast, and weren't disappointed in the least. First of all, let me tell you the diet soda is delicious, especially for fountain, the waitress was so nice and didn't pressure us, nor were we ignored. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with a side of sausage, it arrived hot, and for me, the perfect portion size. The biscuits were fresh and tender, with a delicious covering of country gravy which had flavor, and no excessive fat or flour. The hash browns were cooked to a golden-brown, with pure flavor and light on the oil unlike a lot of other dining establishments. We followed our meal with a baby-cake (choco chip) and let me tell you it was the best pancake I've had anywhere around. (served with hot maple syrup and real warm butter) Everyone was friendly, and sociable, the music, while not my choice, wasn't too loud, and the conversations of other people weren't overpowering. Restrooms were spotless, well-stocked, and smelled lovely. I highly recommend this as a stop when you're in town.

Gotta love these small Rocky Mountain diners. It was wonderful to find a place to stop during a trip into the mountains. We went for breakfast and had a great experience. Service was good, and the food was delicious. Great french toast, eggs, bacon coffee and tea. Would definitely stop here again on the next trip out.

Long review, but please read. Customer service is key, and the owner, has none. Every time I've been there, the food was okay, the atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired. It's pretty dumpy inside, but I'm giving Marion's one star due to the horrible customer service I received the last THREE times I've Interacted with the staff. I tried calling numerous times to speak with a manager, regarding how I was treated, but was always told to call back at 8:30 PM (they close at 3 PM), so nobody ever picked up after hours. Finally I stopped in on my way down the mountain and left a message for one to call me. The owner, Scott Martinez, called back, but I was on a business call, so he got my voicemail. Upon hearing my business message, he immediately assumed I was calling to solicit something and he left a very rude message on my phone, then sent me a rude text. He told me to "quit stopping by, quit calling, quit soliciting, and just go away"! He ended the message saying "I hope to never hear from you again". The text read, "Left a voicemail do not contact me again". My response was, "well that was rude". To which he replied, "Yup, Go away!!". When I tried to explain why I was trying to get in touch with him, he still insisted I was soliciting something. HE THEN CALLED MY BUSINESS TO MAKE A COMPLAINT ABOUT ME! My business had nothing to do with why I was calling. I'm not surprised the staff was so rude, with an owner like him! I'll never ever go back, nor will I ever recommend Marion's to anyone in the future!!

I cannot say enough about Marion's. We have only had breakfast here, but everytime we have been here, it has been delicious. My boyfriend believes these are the best pancakes in the world. The portions are huge, yes, but they are so good. Waitress is always friendly and service is quick. Highly recommend stopping here!

Amazing absolutely amazing. I had the Evans Sandwich- think ham and cheese sandwich with worlds best eggs benedict on top! Cause that's what it is. The service was stellar and attentive with out being over bearing. I had a Virgin Mary and the spices were wonderful! Tried the pancakes and biscuits and gravy too (from other people's plates at my table) and it's all homemade family owned and quality made. Delicious beyond reproach. If you're in Idaho Springs or even passing through, make one of your stops Marion's.

My fiancee and I have eaten here twice now, and have enjoyed it both times. Our waitress was the same on both occasions, and she was always in a good mood. She seemed like she was enjoying her job, which makes the atmosphere of the place all the more welcoming. Everything we've ordered has been very tasty and doesn't seem to be lacking in any area.

We have been going to this place for as long as I can remember when we do mountain road trips. And it's always consistently good. Not GREAT, but yummy for sure. I had the breakfast chili relleno on the last go around - YUM. A little too much grease, but dangit, that's a tasty relleno for a mountain town. Hubs' belgian waffles (gluten free) were awesome, he said. Mark down for service this time around, unfortunately. She seemed less thrilled to be there, and more forgetful than anything. But overall another good experience.

We have been here twice now and loved all of the food! Service has been great. They serve breakfast all day. My daughter has enjoyed the chocolate chip pancakes. (2 plate sized served with individual warm syrup for$6). Have had great soup, fish and chicken, patty melt, and breakfast burrito! Fries are seasoned and crispy. Great value and dependable good food by family owned and operated restaurant for 30+ years!

Best eggs Benedict I have ever had .. and I have had a lot. The waitress was very friendly and greeted us with a big smile. Food being delivered to other tables looked just as spectacular.

Great small-town joint. All the things we got were excellent. Breakfast burrito was good sized and filled with quality ingredients and smothered with good pork green chili. I had pancakes, which were basically like a desert. Some of the best I have ever had. Staff was very nice and were prompt in their service. I will be back!

  • Jon R.

Was good. Good quick service. Biscuits and gravy were better than average (fluffy biscuits). Country burrito was filling (quite large). We didn't have some of the things others reviewed because we are headed hiking right after and I avoided anything remotely spicy.

  • Lorenzo S.

Good, hearty breakfast. I ordered the Chorizo Scramble with three eggs and the portion was very large, more than enough for two people. I also saw they had apple smoked sausage on the menu so added that to my order. I guess my eyes are larger than my stomach because I also added the blueberry pancakes. Everything was delicious and service was good. Next time I shall use discretion and not order enough for an army.

The best pancakes you will ever eat! You have to try the Evans eggs Benedict.... It's to die for! So much food.... We split!

  • Larry T.

The service was slow as they were short a cook. In spite of a dining room full of impatient screaming children, the waitress was sweet and efficient. The fried chicken and mashed potatoes were quite good. The salad was fresh but heaped up on too small a plate. The place looks like a dump but the good was good.

  • Jack H.

Good food at a good price. Staff was very friendly and the waitress was kind enough to point out that we got free coffee if we checked in on yelp.

I liked this place! I had the country breakfast consisting of scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon plus pancakes. It was a LOT of food, which of course my husband ate half of. He got the breakfast burrito and liked it -- though he thought the green chili was a bit salty. I am pretty sensitive to salt, however, and didn't think so ... I don't usually like breakfast burritos but I liked his a lot. There are a lot of old timers here, and you can see why. The place is homey and casual and the service is extra friendly and accommodating. While it did take a bit long to get our food, when it arrived it was hot, tasty and there was a lot of it. The only recommendation I'd make is to use real cream for coffee, and not the little cups of half and half. I hate those --- they taste strange. But I'd definitely go back!

Okay, okay, you guys talked us into it. After roughly 21 hours of straight driving from Dallas, my friend and I were absolutely wiped out. He suggested Idaho Springs, and me not being familiar with the area, looked into any restaurant that would open within the next few hours. Sure enough, this little gem opened at 6am, and we were already whipping through Denver at 4:30, so we ended up parking in front of the building and passing out until they opened... ok, maybe we overslept. We were greeted by the sweetest lady (I believe her name was Kathy), who honestly made me feel like I had been there dozens of times. I'm pretty sure she had spotted me sleeping in the car and smiled at the giant red circle on my cheek where my hand had been holding my head up. At our booth, I go straight for the kill. A coffee and the country burrito. Surprisingly enough, my friend just got a plate of simply french toast and a coffee. Needless to say, "burrito" really shouldn't be in the title of this particular plate. This beast was massive, covered in enough cheese and sausage gravy to cause congestive heart failure at the sheer sight of it. It was glorious. Stuffed with hashbrowns, eggs... I'm reliving it as I type. Get it if you're ready for a food coma. A phenomenal experience. What caught me off-guard is when my friend absolutely RAVED about his french toast. I didn't think there was much to them, but for someone like him, a self-proclaimed "French-Toast Connoisseur", he said they were fantastic. All-in-all, I wish with all my heart I could hook this place up to the back of my car and take it across the country with me. Alas, I will not be so selfish. Great food, stunning location, and incredibly friendly staff. This was a perfect decision. Thank you for allowing me to experience it!

Go once a year when in town. It's always a busy place for breakfast or lunch and have to wait a little bit. But totally worth it. Always great food. I always get a Belgium waffle. My mom got the carnitas special and that was good as well. Great place!

The building itself looks like it could use some updating and tlc, I raised an eyebrow when we walked in, and that's where my doubts ended. Bottomless coffee, unobtrusive service with a smile, huge breakfast portions. Reasonable prices. Oh my, the country burrito! It is a solid breakfast joint. If you are in Idaho springs stop by and enjoy!

Yesterday was National Cheeseburger Day and the Husband and I decided that would be the meal for the day: a cheeseburger. Our search for leaf viewing led us to Idaho Springs and a quick glance at Yelp showed that Marion's was a solid favorite. It is not the fanciest by any means but Marion's of the Rockies has great food. Breakfast is served all day and there are blue plate specials; of course, we got a cheeseburger. I got the All American and the Husband got a Classic. They were cooked to our requested temperature and served with a side. I had soup of the day and the Husband had a large pile of fries. The service was a bit slow but we did not mind as it was a leisure day for us and the food was worth the wait.
