It's pretty good and close to work.

Me, my husband and 4 year old went there last night for dinner. To start, the place is in major need of a makeover. The tiles out front are falling apart, cracked and missing and the inside is dirty and falling apart. The bathrooms could win a contest for the ugliest bathroom. Overall it just felt dirty in there to us. We ordered a plain cheesesteak for our son, a 'biggie' mushroom to split and an order of fries. Our food arrived and I absolutely couldn't believe that I was staring at canned mushrooms on my cheesesteak! I am not a fan of canned mushrooms and found them gross on the cheesesteak. Besides the mushroom debacle, the cheesesteak was just 'ok'. It was very salty and VERY VERY peppery (so much so that my 4 year old could not eat his). The fries were ok but I am not convinced that the containers of ketchup on the table was Heinz brand. The bread was also ok, but not the typical Amoroso bread. All in all, I will not go back to Pat's. There are places in town that have better cheesesteaks.

Some former coworkers loved Pat's. Not sure why - I take it or leave it. It's a sickness, I think - the staff is the most redeeming quality of the place. It's JUST cheesesteaks :p

I'll admit I didn't expect much when I came here but it was close to where I was working and I had a cheesesteak craving. My expectations were even lower when I saw some pieces of french bread nailed to the wall, depicting the differences in sandwich size. I was expecting a crusty, hard dried out roll as opposed to a nice soft Amoroso roll. I was wrong, this was a very good cheesesteak. Way better than the original "Pat's" in Philly. The bread was soft, meat well seasoned and not overly greasy. And unlike Pat's in Philly, I can get lettuce mayo and tomato without being scolded. I was a bit disappointed in the price, $9.28 for a medium cheesesteak and a medium drink, but whatever, I can expense it anyways. Also, it was a bit tricky trying to figure out how to actually get to the parking lot (tip you have to enter a block away as if you were going to the la quinta hotel, and circle back up).

Amazing cheesesteak but even better onion rings!!!!!

  • Hal B.

The best cheesesteaks in Colorado (try them with hot relish). And the fries are good too. Only negatives are that service is variable and on rare occasion the food prep is a little off. I've been eating here a couple of times a month for years, so a rare off day hasn't weakened my love of this place.

  • Matt W.

In my opinion they have the best cheesesteaks in Denver. That's it and that's all you need!

Stopped by Pat's for the first time for lunch today. Didn't get a sub as they didn't have roast beef but I had a hamburger and fries. I was first brought out 2 cheese steaks which was sort of confusing but it was corrected pretty quickly. Both burger and fries were good, nothing spectacular though. May or may not return.

Meh...says it all. This place came highly recommended so my wife and I thought we'd stray from our normal philly place and see what Pat's was all about. Average at best and we will not return. It honestly made me question what the hell my friends are eating that is so good. The traditional philly was near meatless, lacked taste, and was nothing special. My wife also got a buffalo chicken sandwich. It was not only boring, but lacked flavor for even her typically bland taste. Thanks...but no thanks!

Have not been to this location in years. Very glad that we decided to go tonight. Ordered regular cheesesteaks and fries. The sandwiches were great. Served hot and perfect. The fries were also hot and crispy. The girl that took our order, Jamie I believe, was so friendly. Even though they were getting ready to close she took the time to check on us and made sure we were happy with our sandwiches. The restaurant and restrooms were clean and well kept. We will definitely be returning soon.

I love a good steak and cheese (I'm from New England, the land where we pronounce the word "aunt" correctly, and we do not call them cheesesteaks. The steak is not made of cheese, it's steak and cheese on a sandwich, but I digress.) It's not fancy. It's not even really nice. But the guys that work the counter and run the food are fast, friendly and genuinely fun people. The sandwiches have always been top-notch, the fries nice and thick and...well it's hard to screw up fries that come frozen in a giant bag. And a soda is just a soda. But I must say, the subs are pretty tasty and do not disappoint. Definitely a fan and will continue to drop in every few weeks for lunch (you know, once I run 150 miles to burn off the calories!)

This place takes you back. Back to when you were a poor college or high school student, couldn't afford great food, and didn't notice the decor (let alone grade on it). The cheesesteaks are pretty average. The place looks like it should be in the heart of a college town - on the side street, a little more seedy than the main drag. When I'm really in the mood for a Philly, I go North to Taste of Philly. This place will do in a pinch though. Just don't go in with huge expectations. On a positive note, the people are nice, and the food is consistent - not great, but consistent.

  • Jim C.

The one star is for service. The girl at the counter was nice. They should change the name from pats. I have been to Philly and this just wasn't right. The cheese wiz was off the mushrooms wrong steak wrong (they forgot to put any in I think) We were so excited to eat here too. Extremely disappointed in my meal.

    (1)
  • Joanna H.

The staff was grouchy, the fries were cold, the sandwiches weren't the ones we ordered. Had to give the second star simply because it's Pats, so even if everything else sucks the sandwich is still good

Chicken cheese steak? Yes please! I got the medium sized steak with fries, and the thought of getting the large steak actually crossed my mind. If I would have done that, I would have been down for the count for the rest of the day! Big cheese steak, good flavor, I got all the fixings on it so it was messy - just how I like my cheese steaks! My only constructive criticism would be is lower your prices - we all know cheese steaks and fries don't cost $11 in Philly! :-)

Staying at the Best Western right behind Pat's and ate here for lunch today. The service was good and the food was great! I like to base my reviews off others, especially the negative ones, and I must say that I went in actually in search of the bf things, but didn't find them! The gentlemen at the counter was polite and explained the menu. The dine in experience isn't nothing fancy but was comfortable and inviting. I had a Philly cheesesteak and it was awesome! The bread was good and the portion of meat was good as well. I got a medium and it was about 8" and the perfect lunch portion. I'm not a huge fan of mushrooms and onions so not having to say exclude this was great! All that it comes with is meat and cheese and you tell them what you want added. Every place has people who may not have the best experience but this place is worth the visit! We're not in Philly so I didn't expect it to taste "just like philly." So for a CO cheesesteak this place is a winner!

  • Terresa E.

Menu on website is for downtown location only. The Arapahoe location doesn't put onions or peppers on the cheesesteak unless you specifically request them. I didn't know this and it wasn't explained well when I called in my order. Doesn't come with chips or macaroni salad as stated on the menu either. Result is a bland sandwich that is not worth the price. Probably would have been pretty good with onions and peppers.

Not good. Ordered my food then waited over 25 mins in an very uncrowded restaurant until I asked what was going on. Was "rudely" told they had a big order come in. That's great but at least tell the customer that upfront before they order. They were so focused on this big order apparently, that they didn't care that the few of us were left waiting. End result was a expensive cold sandwich and rushing back to the office to eat at my desk. Difficult to get to as you have to do a U-turn to even get there. Won't be going back.

  • Tyler D.

Not that great...mediocre cheesesteaks. Last time I was there I ordered a Philly with cheese whiz. To my surprise it was Nacho cheese...like the nasty huge can of cheese kind. The guy said that is the cheese wiz that they use. Pretty gross. I'd rather go to Taste of Philly any day.

  • Melanie K.

This was a nice sandwich shop. Great steak sandwich and wings! Price was fair.... The only thing that would have made it better was if they wore a belt. Eating lunch and I looked up and there was blue boxers! Overall we will be back!

  • M K.

I thought the service was bad when I wrote my original review and it's only gotten worse. Much worse. Had to wait 25 minutes after placing my order today for my food. Sunday afternoon (1pm), 5 people in the restaurant. Absolutely no excuse. Good food is meaningless if I have to wait forever for it.

Visited on 5/21/2014 Stopped in for lunch while in CO on a business trip. Be warned, this place can be a bit tricky to find. Sure, it is visible from the main road, but you've got to navigate a couple of parking lots and side roads on the way to its parking lot. I went for a large steak hoagie (steak, lettuce, tomato, mayo, salt, pepper). It was huge, and very tasty. Upon walking in I was a bit apprehensive as the inside could certainly use an update, but don't let that scare you off. It was a great sandwich, great service, and I'm definitely going back.

  • Jasmine G.

I have never had anything from here except the Philly cheesesteak, but I love it so much that it's all that I get. I'm not from Philly or anything, but I just think it's an excellent sandwich. I love how they put the sweet peppers on it, it's absolutely delicious. I really like the fries here too. Every time I go to any of the locations, I can always count on a consistently great sandwich. The employees are usually pretty friendly and attentive for the most part. The Philly cheesesteak is so good, I crave it at least a couple times a week. I like that they have two locations so that I can go to the one in the tech center, as well as the one in south Denver.

  • Scott B.

Tried this place for the first time today. All I can say is WOW. Had the mushroom cheesesteak and got crab fries that were on special. 8 hrs later and I'm still thinking about the sandwich and fries. I was fat and happy today. Only downside to this place is I'm going to have to hit the gym daily just so I can eat here more often. MMM great job.

    (5)
  • Brian H.

What a joke. I ordered Cheez Whiz and onions (that's "whiz wit" when actually in Philly). I got about 4 pieces of diced onion and a bunch of molten Cheez Whiz poured over the top of my sandwich (stale bread, of course). If this place makes cheesesteaks I'm Ron Jaworski.

I've been working near Pat's for going on 2 years, and finally got a chance to visit. It had also been far too long since I had a Philly cheesesteak, so my visit was indeed a good day. I opted for the mushroom cheesesteak, which was a pretty solid representation. When I visited Philly I learned that there are two kinds: chopped and folded. This refers to the meat (chopped vs. a folded over sheet). I did not enjoy the folded when I was there, so I was glad that Pat's does it chopped. The bread was awesome - fresh and the perfect blend of firm but yet tender. The meat was also tender, but could have been a tad greasier / flavorful. Mushrooms were perfect. Cheese seemed to be either white American or a poor provolone. Would have been much better with sharp provolone, but that seems to be hard to find outside of Philly (*sad face*). Overall, I'm really closer to a 3.5, but guess I've had better cheesesteaks. That said, this definitely hit the spot, and I'll be back. Found it very odd that, upon entering, all you see is menus for burgers and wings on the wall. Guess they're trying to branch out, but if you grab the menu you'll find their Philly selection...which is what you want, isn't it? I know, weird. Whatever, the ambiance (a.k.a.: lack there off) inside definitely let's you know that you're in the right spot.

  • Ryan S.

I love Pats! Their cheesesteaks are great. I like mine simple. Cheeze Wiz and meat maybe I get crazy sometimes and add peppers and onions. They have Tasty Cakes too! I have never ordered anything else at this place. They do have hot wings and burgers plus plenty more. The place isn't pretty but really you're in the wrong place if you're expecting fine dining. The only negatives would be the price. It's not cheap. And the location. Getting to the place is a little tough the first time.

    (4)
  • Jessica T.

It was hot, it was fast and it hit the spot! (That's what she said...). But seriously, it was very good. I ordered the small Mushroom Steak w/ banana peppers. It was fresh, the bread delicious, the meat was good and perfect amount of cheese. My only issues were there were very few mushrooms, I even had to dig at one point to make sure I did in fact have them, and I wish there had been a bit more meat to properly fill the sandwich. More mushrooms and meat would have bumped this to a 4 star review for me. The service was good. I could tell they were a bit backed up when I got there, but they acknowledged me and fixed their backlog quickly enough that once I ordered it was ready in minutes. I will go here again when at work and the craving for a cheesesteak hits.

Where's the beef? I may be biased since I ate at Pats in Philly but sir this is no Philly steak sandwich. First it wasn't packed for lunch it took forever and not only that there was hardly any meat and it was so salty I had to refill my drink so I didn't dry out today. Sorry people anyone who believes this is a cheesesteak hero does not know what they are talking about. I give it 1 star because the young lady behind the counter was the only good thing. I have to say Fuggit about it!!!!!

  • Daniel L.

I placed a call for a pickup order and the person that answered the phone instantly advised me that they were closing at 8 p.m. Their stated hours on their add says 11 a.m. To 9 p.m. I was then advised that, if I got there before 8, I could place a counter order. Got there at 7:55 and the lights were out and the door locked. I like Pat's subs, but their customer service SUCKS! The person who answered the phone should take a course in courteous service!

  • Anaiah L.

Great sandwich! It was super filling and for the price, I'd say it is worth it. I've been to the Pats in Philly, although it might not be the same, it's still really tasty. The manager was working the register and was super friendly! As for the steak, I'm not sure why people are saying there isn't enough, there was a good amount of steak in the sandwich. Overall, it was good.

After consuming one too many beverages, NOT catching the bouquet and dancing the night away, this girl woke up with one massive hangover. oye. What's the way to cure a hangover? WITH A BIG FAT PHILLY OF COURSE!! The philly's here are delicious, fresh and pack a punch! I ordered a philly with lettuce, tomato, onion, mushroom with lots and lots of cheese to only be pleased with how great it was! Perfect size, perfectly cooked, and made for great leftovers. The prices are decent and they offer killer wings :) MMMMMM!

  • Jerry N.

My experience wasn't a good one. This is a overpriced dirty restaurant with mediocre service. Their cheesesteaks are OK, but not great. Denver Ted's and Taste of Philly have better cheesesteaks. I certainly don't see myself returning here.

    (2)
  • Nickey C.

I Ordered a large Philly cheese steak sandwich with grilled onions the cheese whiz was only nacho cheese I would not recommend this place they should change their name,

  • Leslie L.

Nothing fancy here, just a good ol' Philly. Been here several times and never have been disappointed!

    (4)
  • Christina R.

Definitely not as good as the downtown location. All I can say is meh..

  • Samantha S.

I'm a fan..... i drove by this place, and it is so plain on the outside that I just assumed it was closed.... the parking lot and the place next door are falling apart, and it doesn't help this place scream " Try me!" I was trying to look for something new and drove it because i saw a few cars. It is the same on the inside as the outside. A little run down... a small area where you can eat and watch some football on the tv's... or wait for your food. I got a Tangy Chicken Tender Sandwich and fries and one of those Taste-Cakes? Boo on the cakes... didn't like them... but the food was GREAT. They gave me a LOT of fries, i could have shared with 3 friends.. but I came home and ate... and was very satisfied.. However, I must pick when I come here as I think my waistline would be objecting to too many visits to this place!!

  • Adam S.

A cheesesteak is one of those foods that is simple for a reason (because simple works well for this dish). A lot of restaurants try a little too hard to reinvent the wheel with this dish. It is thily sliced, chopped steak on a roll with provolone or cheez wiz with onions and peppers optional). There isn't supposed to be a sauce or chicken or green peppers or anything else. Theoretically, you should be able to get a good Philly anywhere as long as the preparer stays true to basics. This place stays pretty faithful to basics. I don't like that you can't get it with wiz, but this place is "good enough."

    (3)
  • Gil S.

I lived in Philly so naturally I would compare this to Philly (also, the name of the place kind of asks for this comparison doesn't it?) and unfortunately the best steak sandwiches I've had are still in Philly. However this is still a decent place to have a quick lunch. Prices are reasonable and food is good. The place is far from being fancy but it's clean and the location is good.

  • Nicole W.

Fun staff, easy menu, yummy options - go for everything!! (except vinegar and oil) I've been to the downtown location and it's a little dark for summer time, so having another location so close to the office is fun! Lots of windows and seating. You order at the counter, so that makes it cheaper and easier. They have a ton of staff so there is no delay - when your food is ready, you get it! This is another entertainment book coupon location - although today my friend had a different coupon and it worked out well! I went with the mushroom cheese steak with EVERYTHING!! The guy thought i was nuts, but it turned out fabulous! I was able to eat 1/2 in the sandwich format, and the other half i just ate out of the bread! There was avlot of gooey goodness in there! Delicious and not too expensive!! 4 sizes, multiple options - i have a lot of work to do to enjoy the whole menu!

I used to be a regular customer of Pat's many years ago. Since he opened this location and the one downtown however, it has gone downhill on a fast train. Seems to me he has devoted most of his time, energy and best people to the flagship on Market St while the other places that provided him the means to expand onto such prime real estate in the first place are left to wither on the vine. This location was a dump when it opened and having recently returned there after a long hiatus with some hope of finding improvement, I was disappointed to find that it's still a dump and the food definitely not as good or special as it used to be. If I want a quick, decent cheesesteak or a chicken cheesesteak with no bones or gristle in it- I'll just find a Jersey Mike's. At least when I leave- I won't feel the need for a shower, and they have Tastykakes, too.

Had a Buffalo chicken sandwich, spent the rest of the evening in the toilet, feverish with chills. Never again.

  • Nicole R.

I thought the boneless wings were delicious. They did not have too much breading on them. I have heard the Philly Cheese steaks are a must here! It has great service and good food. If you like cheese steaks, this is a great place to go.

  • Jason N.

Pat's on Arapahoe is a hidden gem. The outside is not much to look at, the inside needs a good scrubbing, and the employees are always terse, but I love me some Pat's food. My favorite sandwich there is the Gobbler. It is a Thanksgiving meal jammed into a hoagie roll. Many places try, but Pat's is the only place in Denver that does it right (at least that I have found so far). The restaurant is decked out in a "Philadelphia/Rocky" theme common to places that specialize in Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches. Overall it has a feeling of dirtiness. Some kind of sports (usually football) is playing on two or three TVs. Pat's does get crowded if you are there for weekday lunch. Try to get there early.

  • Seth J.

I'm no connoisseur of cheesesteaks but this hole in the wall seemed pretty authentic to me. I got the Pat's Phatty. The bread was toasty, the meet and onions were great. I dumped a bunch of ketchup on top, which added to the flavor. Great service - they brought my sub right out to the table. The interior needs a face lift. Not a very exciting location but it's extremely convenient.

    (4)
  • J P.

I used to really like this place and go every week or two for lunch but it has gone down hill drasitcally. The last time I was in my cheesesteak barely had any meat in it, it used to be spilling over in the past. Also, they are now serving burgers and other menu items which is typically a sign of last resort for a restaurant that should be focused on it's core product. If the first thing you see when entering a cheesesteak resraurant is a big picture of a hamburger it's probably best to go elsewhere.

    (2)
  • Wes B.

two stars is Generous, the I ordered a large cheesesteak with mushrooms and cheese. They were skimpy on the cheese and skimpy on the mushrooms. The meat was overly salty. The staff was nice but not nice enough for me to come back. This is no Philly Pat's

    (2)
  • Rob T.

All I need to say is I had Pat's for the first time today for lunch. When I got back to my desk I opened up my calendar and thought "hmmm, my friends are coming to town in about 40 days.....if I take the long way back from the airport......I bet we could stop by Pat's!! That's the ticket!" Planning a month in a half ahead of time to make excuses to go to Pat's 30 mintues after eating there....yep they are that good. Fantastic Cheesesteaks. In fact they are so good they make me feel a better about a town that boo's Santa Claus and signs Michael Vick....ok I take that back...

Their steak is always fatty and chewy. The chicken has bones in it. Sorry, but it's true.

    (2)
  • Louis C.

After my second visit, this will be the last. My latest experience consisted of ordering a cheese steak with cheese wiz and onions and ending up getting a cheese steak with Monterey and no onions. Must take too much effort to make a cheese steak outside the norm!?! The sandwich and order of fries were nothing spectacular, especially for the price...$11 and some change including drink. Pat, I'll be going else where's for my cheesesteak fix from now on.

    (1)
  • Alexis S.

I ordered a medium cheese steak, and it was good but not anything too special. The employees were friendly and helpful, although the wrong order was brought to the table at first. The food came quickly, so there was not much waiting. Overall it was a good experience, but it would not land on top of my list of places that I would recommend.

    (3)
  • Barbi P.

I am not a big fan of Cheese steaks, so I can't really comment on theirs. I do however love their other subs. I usually get the Mobes. It is turkey, thousand island and coleslaw. I hate coleslaw but it works just right with the rest of the sandwich. This location is way different than the downtown one, both are worth going to. This use to be the old buck a scoop Chinese place, a legend in its own right. It isn't fancy....at all. But it isn't the kind of place you take people to impress them in that way. It is however a great place to grab a sub for lunch or a good stop on your way home from work.

  • Manu M.

This is my first time with cheese steak, so if you are checking the quality of cheese steak here, check elsewhere. i am a newbie in this. That being said, i liked my first experience with this philly delicacy. I had a large cheese steak with fries. I haven't liked the french fries anywhere till now, this wasn't any different. My GPS (a garmin) took me a on world-tour before getting to this place (which i did on my own in the end). The place is just .3 -.4 miles after you get off the I-25S when you come from, well DTC on belleview. But i went around all the place because the damn gps was finding where it wasn't. The place is fast in service, and they have got onion newspaper for reading material, which is great.

Absolutely horrible. Truly EPIC FAIL. I blew $9 for a horrendous cheesesteak - terrible cheap bleached white bread with a measly portion of gristle "meat", ultra-processed "cheese", and 0.001 oz of "onions". It didn't fill me up 1 bit. I frowned pitifully at my lunch partner - she said it was because the "cheesesteak" was 100% artificial - how could it possibly fill you up, you didn't eat any real food! On top of that it took forever, the restaurant was dingy, and just gloomy. How terrible.

If Ted's and Taste of Philly had to go head to head in a contest, you'd have something like what has been going on in Philadelphia for years with Geno's Steaks and Pat's King of Steaks; same style of sandwich that is prepared slightly differently (or completely different depending on your taste) with droves of followers to each side. That is why I place Pat's at a close 3rd to those two. I prefer the downtown location but the one on Arapahoe is very convenient. Yes, the decor is average and the place seems like kind of a dump but what do you expect from a place that was originally a Day's Inn Breakfast Place? They are renovating the exterior and we would hope the interior would be next on the list of improvements!?!? The sandwich comes on a nice warm French roll and is filled with the grilled steak + many items you can choose to add. It's on the greasy side and the cheese oozes out of every bite plus peppers can add a good spicy kick. You get a ton of thick, long cut fries with an order. Its right along the same price range as the other places and TastyKakes are available in many flavors! The menu is a little more involved and may require you to ask a few questions on your first visit. Otherwise the place serves you fairly quickly, employees are good natured and it's very popular during lunch time. Some of you Philly's need to try it and get your feedback posted on here!

  • Josh P.

As cheese steaks go, I thought Pat's was just okay. I thought the bread could be better and I didn't care for the spicy pepper relish. Personally, I think the fact that it's kind of a hole goes with the territory. Who wants to eat a philly sandwich on a white linen tablecloth?

    (2)
  • Larry D.

Two words....Canned Mushrooms...what the freak man. Denver Ted's is still the best...Don't waste your money on a $12 load of crap.

Freaking fantastic! The BEST philly cheesesteak sandwich I have EVER had! Aparently everyone in the DTC agrees because this place is PACKED at lunch. Come early or expect a line, because their food is in high demand.

  • Vanessa H.

Sooo good - they have very excellent subs and fast! They are always so HOT and JUICY and CHEESY! My mouth waters just thinking about them. Their food is always so fresh and hot and great! If you want a real good quality cheese steak you HAVE to go here!

  • Tony G.

Yo adrian! I will not go back! First impressions are what you always remember. Bread was cold.. meat was gross, fries were also cold! I bought a side of ranch and got buttermilk instead. Any suggestions for a better Philly please message me.

I have lived by this Pat's for almost two years now and finally tried it through a Living Social deal. I had heard a lot of buzz about the downtown location - more about the bar at Pat's though than the food. I must say though I was thoroughly impressed. We placed our take out order through Living Social and were pleasantly surprised to find upon arrival our food was ready to go and still hot. They made it to our exact requests - no issues. I got their cuban sandwich - my new fav - and the BF got the cheese steak - his new fav. They have a large selection as well as burgers and hot wings (though you cannot order those from the menu on Living Social for some odd reason). We have been back already within about a week from our last visit. The place is a little daunting as it's hidden in the corner of a lot where an old Bennigan's is and the paving is a disaster - take it SLOW, your car will thank you! But the place is very clean inside and the employees friendly. We will be back again!

I go here once in a while for lunch. Their phillies are excellent. Great bread, and great steak. You can add anything else you want (I ask for Jalapenos). The 'medium' is 12 inches and I've yet to see anyone order a 'biggie' but I guess some extremely hungry people might just do so... Only draw backs to the place are when you arrive at the same time as large packs of high school kids, it can get a little noisy, and they now charge for hot sauce (for some reason they took the containers off the tables, and now you have to ask nicely for it.) Mildly annoying, but I always have a good filling lunch when I go there.

Pat's is the closest thing to a real Philly cheesesteak that I've found. Get it with the Whiz to make it a true Philly cheesesteak. I've been to the downtown location as well as the Arapahoe, and I like the Arapahoe location better. It seems more like the cheesesteak joints you'd find in Philly. The sandwhiches are a bit greasier than I'd like, having tried them in Philly at Geno's, but they're still very tasty. You get a lot of food for the money here, just be prepared to have to work out extra after eating here.
