My girlfriend picked this spot on for a New Year's Eve dinner. It was in the Denver Tech Center (i.e. the burbs to me) and seemed really mediocre (lots of 3 star reviews). Perused the menu in advance and wasn't blown away. Walked in and it was chalk full of 40+ year old folks. And me, Mr. brown man, was holding down the minority fort (hollaaaaa). Expected a miss. Sometimes your expectations are wrong. I was eating crow (well, a large, tasty steak) and am now writing this positive review as my mea culpa. We entered from the street side and there's a weird walk to the hostess stand in the middle of the restaurant (there's also a garage entrance that I'd recommend as it's warmer and dumps you right at the host stand). While that was awkward, the rest of the meal went swimmingly. We started with their fried brie; it's like mozzarella sticks ... but amazing-er. Had a nice crunch with that great gooey brie flavor on the inside. We also split a salad at the rec of the waiter (we were going to order 2 but were told they were quite large). He was right and I appreciated that! I'm a huge steak fan and got their prime rib. I don't do much carbs and love extra meat. I requested this and they happily obliged. My gf is a vegetarian and got a pretty tasty quinoa dish. At the end of your meal they bring out this amazing looking dessert tray. We passed, but wished there was more room for dessert. All in all, it's not a gimmicky spot. It's meat-heavy fare (saw some German stuff which looked good too) that also accommodates vegetarians. The service was excellent and the live music / ambiance was comfy and nice.

Judging by the Yelp reviews, I think Chinook might be the absolute exception where something screws up, ratings go sour, and management takes notice and immediate action; our dinner went off without a hitch. The location is really nice - I had no idea this place existed - and there is both indoor and outdoor seating. They can accommodate large groups in banquet rooms and serve a fixed menu (apps, couple choices for main entree, and a dessert). The staff were stars -- friendly and highly accommodating. Service was a bit slow at points, but they did a great job with getting people's orders right (changes to cooking methods, sides, sauces, etc.). I don't believe anyone's dinner was delivered incorrectly. Bonus for Lavazza coffee! (i.e. HAAAALLELUJAH) I wanted to give 5 stars, but I'm really hesitant without visiting again. If I rack up more tastebud time here, I will reconsider.

I have eaten here twice, once at a company function and once taking a hiring candidate out to dinner. The service was exquisite; our waitress was very knowledgeable and was one of only a few people who can get the German pronunciation of my last name. The food was pricey, but worth it. The guy across from me had a very thick pork chop that he liked. I had a ravioli dish with several cheeses, which I finished. This place is a good for a date to experience upscale German cuisine.

A group of 6 friends ate here on a Saturday night. The service is the worst I've had in as long as I can remember. We were sat immediately, and the waiter came up as we were sitting down to take drink orders (before we'd even picked up the wine list). We asked for more time, and he came back 1 minute later and took our very rushed order. After drinks were delivered, the waiter walked past our table for 45 straight minutes without acknowledging us. Literally, we sat down at 6:25, we weren't able to place our orders until 7:10. This despite eye contact, waving of hands, anything. It was surreal. Our orders eventually came out, the french onion soup was good, but almost room temp. They add a $3 charge to split salads, just greedy. Both steaks that were ordered came out over-cooked...by a lot. When we asked for a steak knife, we were told that there are no steak knives, just use our butter knives. Not easy given the toughness of the steak. One of the plates was supposed to not have truffle oil on the fries. When we asked which one didn't have truffle oil, the food runner took the plates back to the hallway around the corner, and put here nose an inch away from each plate to sniff them for the oil, then brought them back. Just lovely. The waiter never once returned to see how our meal was, if we needed anything, etc. Though he did randomly come by once in a while to fill my iced tea, but never said a word. This was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a very long time, and I will absolutely will not be returning here. Too bad, since I only work about 2 blocks away. As a side note, i saw two managers working. Both had frowns on their faces the entire time. Never greeted anybody as they walked past, and couldn't even be bothered to feign a smile. I'm not surprised the service was representative of their attitudes.

Delicious and great service! I went here with my boyfriend and his dad for dinner and we all left smiling and full. All of our meals were fantastic - usually there's a dish that doesn't taste as good as the others but all of us were in awe of how good everything was. We started with the fig and brie appetizer which was the best brie I've ever tasted. The service was fine and our waiter didn't mind answering all of our many questions. We even ordered dessert which I isually resist but the appetizer and entree were so good I couldn't help myself! Highly recommend.

Today I attended a business luncheon at Chinook Tavern. The event space is excellent and the service was wonderful, however the main course was the worst meal I have ever had at a restaurant. I do not even know what I was eating. It was meat in sauce with pickled cabbage and some kind of pasta that tasted more like scrambled eggs. It was so very odd. Almost every person at my table only had a few bites. I have heard from many that the food here is pretty good so I was quite disappointed with what was served to our group of 50. I was thinking of coming back with friends and family because I love the ambience, but after trying the food I am sad to say I do not think I will return.

Not sure what happened- this used to be such a classy place. The light and ambiance is spectacular! I was excited to show this place off to my hubby. I was pretty embarrassed. The lowdown- we had reservations and we were seated promptly. The waiter took about 15 minutes to come and get our drink order. We were ready to order, but he wouldn't take our lunch order. Then he came back 5 minutes later and took our drink order again. We were confused because we had our drinks. From there it was just a nightmare. It took 45 minutes for a cup of soup to arrive. By the time our lunch arrived my lunch hour was over and I had to get it boxed to go. I was bummed because it wasn't even close to what I ordered. It wasn't fun to eat my reheated lunch for dinner. At $50 for lunch and declining service, I will most definitely go to one of the other deserving area businesses.

I came here for a Regis Alumni cocktail reception. So, for me, other than tipping the waitresses, I did not have to open my wallet on this particular evening. I had not been here before, but had heard it was expensive. As I previously mentioned, that was not an issue for me this night. The beers on tap in the bar area were nicely cold, with some decent selections. For food, they put out trays of sliders, pizzas, and a few other items. I really enjoyed the sliders. These were Classic Chinook Kobe Beef Sliders (artisan buns, caramelized onions, Tillamook cheddar cheese, chipotle mayonnaise), and they were excellent. The pizzas included a pepperoni offering, which was good, one I did not try, and a nice Chinook Margherita Pizza (tomato, fresh basil, mozzarella). The service was very good, and I would like to come here again to try more items on the menu.

Meh...Pretty sure I'm not going to eat here again. Had lunch here this week, and it was plain food with a great space. I have worked in the building for awhile now, and had the chance to check out Chinook this week. The bread on my hot pastrami sandwich was like eating captain crunch it hurt the roof of my mouth so much. The sauerkraut had absolutely no flavor which is tragic coming from a German restaurant (I am part German and grew up with homemade sauerkraut). Service was slow, but the server was really nice. Overall it was bland from the food to the service, if I had to give it a color it would be beige.

Chinook is a short walk from my new office building so it's an easy destination for lunch. They have a nice interior and the ambiance is friendly and relaxed. The lunch menu is very limited and mostly lies in the sandwich realm. I had the BLT, which was served on some flatbread. It was actually really good. The service was also excellent. The waitress came by quite often to check on us. I've heard the happy hours are really happening hear, so I'll give that a shot next time!

Tonight, we went to the Chinook Tavern for a girl's night out during 5280 restraunt week. I am glad that I only paid $30.00 plus a $7 glass of wine for the experience. The appearance of the place is lovely and warm with beautiful wood paneling framing the space from floor to ceiling. I ended up wishing the food had matched the decor. The staff were friendly but gave us the wrong menu initially--if you want to do the fondue you must reserve a particular room--which is okay, but don't taunt us with that yummy menu when we can't choose from it! Our waiter was not very attentive or helpful and we had to ask for enough menus and wine lists for our party of 7. Fortunately water service was good though bread did not come to the table for nearly 45 minutes and only exactly 6 rolls were given. Even though we were all ready to order our food, the waiter insisted that we wait to tell him what we wanted until he came back with our drinks. The food: I was mostly happy with my appetizer, the fried brie with fruit, bread, and lingon berry jam. I did not care for the grilled bread at all, it just did not complement the brie, but the brie was a lightly breaded fried delight. Others had the shrimpcake (very good), the salad (light and fresh)and the lobster bisque which both sent back as too fishy, heavy, and frankly, ugly. My main course was the applewood smoked flat iron steak. I found mine to be quite good but a bit cold, like it may have been plated too early. But the medium rare doneness I requested was spot on with some charring on the outside. A friend who also had the steak felt it was too charred. The sauce and asparagus were melt in your mouth good. I have never had such tender asparagus! Too bad there were only 2 spears of it. The 2 shrimp were a bland afterthought. The almond croquettes were interesting but were basically mashed potatoes rolled in almond batter--more asparagus or something with more contrast would have been better. This meal paired nicely with a glass of stone cellar merlot. Others had the pork with wild mushroom cream sauce and noodles. I adored the taste I had. Perhaps the biggest disappointment of the meal was the dessert. I chose a flourless chocolate torte. It was not only flourless but flavourless too. The menu does not mention nuts but this slab of hard monolithic sorta-of -almost chocolate was riddled with walnuts or almonds-- it was hard to tell which one. The best parts were not the cake but all the things around it: the sweet cream sauce dribbled in miserly proportions around the cake, a chocolate frosting rosette, and the white and dark chocolate twirls on top as garnish...even the strawberries were sadly bland. I did not save the leftover 1/2 to share it--just wasn't worth it. I did get a nibble of the strudel and it was divine...So, I am truly glad that I did not pay full price for the range of food I had. Given the prix fixe menu, the portions were understandably small but it would have been nice if the taste of the showy food had matched the ambiance of the place.

Always fantastic authentic German food! The seasonal white spargel (asparagus) is always worth it and one of the only places to offer it on the front range!! The covered parking and located at a light rail stop make the location ideal. Fun summer patio/biergarten & evening concert series too. So just to level set I work across the street and have been here a few times with my company who spends quite a bit on executive dinners Meeting one of my good friends for lunch today he suggested chinook. Why not? I got there early and ordered a sprite since no beer drinking when u have to go back to work. Well my spite was one and done an he kept filling my glass with water upon refill- no big deal I probably need the hydration I'm a super boring eater so I order the chicken sandwich, only cheese. This seems so simple to me people but I guess not. Fast forward and out comes my meal with mayo avacdo lettuce tomatoes. Yuck. Not my bag. I let the bartender kindly and graciously know it wasn't what I wanted and as it turns out the owner is sitting next to me. Bartender lets me know he put my order into the kitchen as requested but what came out wasn't close ----so why serve it??? So away he takes it. The owner now tries to jump in and offers to make another one but by now my lunch hour has evaporated. I graciously decline and offer to pay for the meal. They then offered to see if another chicken breast was cooking so I cud take a to go order. Nice gesture no such luck. So the bartender brings the first sandwich out AGAIN and suggests I just scrape off what I don't like. Are you fucking kidding ??? If I wanted to do that I would not have even asked originally A 14 dollar chicken sandwich may add. So now I have to run back to work and asked for the bill. Bartender takes my card and returns with a recipet not a bill so allow me to ask again for the bill. One star for cool interior and one star for trying to make it right. Won't be back at least for a long time or until someone from work wants to buy me a beer

We were the 10-year married couple with 2 kids that are 1.5 and 4.5 years old. We love going out. The food was top notch and they treated the kids wonderful. Brought out extras and separated food. The food was AMAZING!! I had the lamb shank and it was off the chart. Good dessert and a fun crew!

One of the snobbiest places I have ever been to... Outrageously expensive for the quality of food/service we received. I met up with my family to try out a new fondue restaurant. Upon arriving I'll admit that we mistook what the waiter was asking us in regards to what type of dinner we wanted so they seated us in the non-fondue section which we did not realize until after looking at the menu. So we politely asked if we could still get the fondue dinner we were hoping for, and our French-accented waiter (I wish I got his name) looked at us as if we'd personally insulted him and they begrudgingly moved us into another section where they served fondue. They acted as if it was the end of the world over this honest mistake, making my family and I feel like a giant nuisance. Keep in mind that this was a WEDNESDAY night and the restaurant was nearly empty, so I don't see why it was necessary to make us feel bad about it and treat us like an inconvenience. The rest of the dinner was terribly awkward and we wanted to leave asap. We were one of two parties in our room and the same waiter who was serving us was overly friendly and attentive to the other table but my family sat there for the longest time without any service and it took forever to get our food, which was mediocre after all. Every time our waiter came to our table he hardly gave us a smile and was very cold to us. The experience was a huge letdown and we will not be returning to this restaurant.

First time here, we came for the live music. Delta Sonics Trio was playing, I follow the well known Denver Blues band all over Denver. A must see band. When we arrived tot he tavern, the hostess was no where to be found. After about 10 minutes of being passed by waitstaff we were finally greeted and seated. It took another 15-20 minutes to get a drink order, water and menus. The patio wasn't busy at all. The staff wasn't to familiar with the patio menu or draft beers. I wanted an IPA and I got a confused look from the waitress, I don't blame here, maybe a training issue. Once more waitstaff came out to the patio to help, our waitress was more attentive and ended up being an awesome server. The food was good, we ordered the pizza and sliders. Like the touch of truffle oil on the fries. Overall a good night, Delta Sonics jammed and being on the patio, the colorado sunset was beautiful. I would like to see a cook to order grill on the patio instead of a limited menu from the inside dining area. And maybe a wider variety of drink items for the patio, or being able to order from the bar inside for the customers on the patio.

I am extremely confused by all the recent negative reviews. I have been here twice - for dinner both times - and have been blown away by both the service and the food on both occasions. Lets start with the ambiance - the feel of the place is warm and inviting, with interesting eclectic artwork, nice lighting, big windows, wood vaulted ceilings, etc. The wait staff is extremely personable and shares the evening with you, rather than just being "the waiter" or "the bus boy". What I mean is if you aren't that person glued to your phone and are actually out to dinner to talk and converse over good food, maybe learn something knew, the waiters here are outstanding. Some people have complained about the length of time it takes to be served - our waitress was at our table within 5 minutes, had our bottle of wine and water within 10 minutes, and had our appetizers ordered in within 15-20 minutes - and we had time to chat about the menus and for our server to make recommendations. To me; this is a FINE DINING restaurant experience. You're not eating at Chili's people - if you want quick in and out dining go somewhere less classy. The food is divine. The chef really does care about the food, and it shows in every dish. We ordered the Escargot and Fried Brie for appetizers, Wasabi-Pea encrusted Halibut, The special White Asparagus with Bistro Fillet, and finally the Strawberry Ice Cream (can't remember the technical name) and the Chocolate/White Chocolate cake. We topped it off with the recommended Cashmere bottle of wine and were very, very happy with each course. The owners both came by our table -twice- to make sure everything was good and we were happy. The one even remembered us from the last time we were here, almost 2 years ago - remembering what we ordered and where we sat! I felt extremely at home and taken care of here. Its expensive - a treat restaurant so we only come on occasion - but it is always worth every penny.

Went here with a big group of about a dozen from work and the manager relocated us to a quieter section as we were originally seated by a large party of 40 plus and we could not hear each other over the crowd - he was accommodating and we appreciated it. The happy hour was decent however they were out of several of the happy hour food items (plenty of booze though)... We were bummed about the featured happy hour items being gone and settled on some pizzas which were OK. Parking can be tricky but there is plenty farther down the road although it was a tad desolate walking to my car alone (buddy system recommended). I also like that their HH runs until 6:30- the extra half hour is welcome. This location is super close to my work so an easy place for a DTC meet up.

This was my first visit to this German/American Restuarant but won't be my last. First let me say this is a very nice place but not a tavern in the traditional sense. Don't expect to get a hamburger and fried pickles. The food is fine dining. I would suggest renaming this place just "Chinook" or ChiGood". We heard this place is busiest at lunch and happy hour. For lunch get there around 11:30 to bypass the crowds. It's restuarant week in Denver and Chinook Tavern is serving what looks like a pretty good dinner. I went with a business associate based on a recommendation from his friend despite the 3.0 rating yelp has given Chinook. A rating that should somehow be adjusted up. Let's rate each item on a scale of 1-5. Service - 10 When I read the reviews most of the complaints were about the service we didn't experience bad service at all. Could be that the place wasn't really busy when we were there but Ali was absolutely the best!!! Greek salad - 3.0 please don't mess with this standard. Not enough red onion, tomatoes, or olives and the greens should never be bitter greens. It wasn't a 2 or 1 but I wouldn't order that again. My only bad review :) French onion soup - 7 tasted like mine so I was very happy! Fried Brie with berries and croutons - 7 not something I should be eating but my friend Jordan ordered this and shared a bite. Veal Jaeger schnitzel with wild mushroom cream sauce 4.5 cut the veal with a fork and the flavor swerve outstanding. House baked apple strudel - 5 just like my grandma made. Salmon - 5 Jordan shared his salmon as well and I would probably order this next time. This place is a keeper! Glad we listened to Jordan's friend and not Yelp on this one.

Food was very disappointing for a place that should live up to their $30/plate on average price point. We had the Brie, beet salad, beef tenderloin and my husband had a pizza. When you see pommes frites on a menu selection that costs $31, one would think some delicious, high quality, well seasoned potatoes of some kind would come out. Not French fries I could get at Wendy's for .99 cents. The tenderloin I ordered medium rare and it came out medium to well done. It was so flavorless, I didn't even bother sending it back. My husbands pizza looked like something you might get at Applebee's, he didn't finish either. Oh and my tenderloin had 2 asparagus pieces. 2. And a pile of cheap French Fries and 3 little pieces of overcooked, flavorless tenderloin. I give this place 3 stars because the service was friendly, and it seems like a nice little restaurant. But it was sat night at 8pm and there was one person sitting in the bar and the restaurant was not even close to full. I wouldn't waste my money again. Too bad because I used to love this place when it was in CC.

The parking garage was easy to find and led us right to the restaurant's front door on a snowy night. At a loss about some of the poor reviews. The food was top notch and the service was exactly what you would expect at a quality restaurant. I really liked the ambiance as well. We will be returning for Valentine's Day.

The food is overpriced and not that good. We got the standard cheese fondue.... And it was mediocre. $36 for a bowl of cheese and chopped up veggies and bread. You can't order for one... You have to order for two. The service was not as awful as everyone claimed it was. My water glass was never empty. I rate my restaurants based on the quality of the food anyways. Beautiful place... Nice ambience... It has potential. The food needs some work. The food would've been stellar if this was a dinner party at someone's house. Don't waste your money here. We left hungry and with thinner wallets.

We were pleasantly surprised by the airy, modern and huge space when we walked in from the middle of an area that more closely resembled Silicon Valley. The high ceilings and cool Southwestern art throughout made us almost forget that we were in the bottom of an office building. The eclectic menu seemed to be a fusion of American, German, Italian, and other European countries. Our service was a bit spotty -- forgetting to bring us bread and not being overly available throughout our meal -- however our waiter was friendly. We enjoyed our appetizers -- fried brie, streudel, and french onion soup. The entrees were less impressive. The steak sauce was overly salty and the salmon special was overcooked. For the price, it was a little disappointing. However, this place definitely fulfills a need for an area not far from Fiddler's Green that is in need of a nicer restaurant.

We came here for Christmas Eve dinner and it was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a restaurant. Granted, I understand the staff doesn't want to be working on Christmas Eve, but it's not an excuse for how horrible our service was. Our waiter took 25 minutes to acknowledge our table. When the waiter came by for our drink order we couldn't even order because we had no drink menus and only one wine menu for a table of 12. Another 20 minutes passed, then we finally put in our food order. Then 20 more minutes later we find out from our server that they are out of ravioli for the night. No apologies, he rudely asked us "what do you want now?". How would we know without a menu? When we finally did get food, my quinoa was incredibly small. I was still hungry after. I understand that the restaurant ran out if something, but half of our table ordered the out of stock item and it took 20 minutes to tell us. An apology from a manager or a free dessert would have done wonders. Instead we all received" $10 off an entree coupons" that can't be combined. We left them on the table and will not be back. Ok food, but the incredibly bad service and management makes this place one of the worst I've ever experienced. Also heads up waitstaff, maybe you shouldn't be rude to each other in Spanish, because a lot of people, including me, understand every word.

Six of us visited Chinook prior to a concert at Fiddlers- like most. Had a really bad experience. Took about 10 minutes to get water initially and about the same for our waitress to get to our table. Took ridiculously long to get our drinks - which eventually came in plastic cups since they ran out of cups. At $8-$10/pop I wouldn't expect solo cups. The sweet drinks were too sweet and the wine I was brought was not the wine I ordered - drank it anyway. Our food was marginal - the French onion soup is billed as "awesome" - it was good - I'd say French onion soup is not a tough one to figure out (although I have had awesome French onion - not here), probably slightly above average. We also had the smoked salmon app - it was ok also - the smoked salmon had a slight "fishy" taste, which I didn't expect and the bread served with the salmon was huge/thick - too much. Finally we ordered the duck confit pizza - which was great in concept, but the execution was terrible. We had to pick out duck bones from the top of the pizza and the pizza was (very) undercooked... There were six of us at the table - we all had some sort of strange issue - we're not complainers, either - this place just fell on its face last night. The owners were clearly running around overwhelmed. Combination of slow service, incorrect service and really poor food (other stuff is forgivable if the food is good). Won't go back. Definitely don't go on a Fiddler's night.

I came in for Easter brunch. It was amazing, the food was delicious I had the Weiner schnitzel and a beet salad. Drinks were good too. The best part was our server Linus. I have been to this bar several times and each time it's a bigger disappointment than the last. I must be a glutton for punishment but when you work upstairs its just sheer convenience that takes over any rational thinking. When my colleagues and I want to go for a quick cocktail during happy hour the entire bar is always reserved with no one sitting in the reserved spots. The actually bar is even reserved. WTF? I grew up in the restaurant and tavern industry and never in my life have I ever heard of a bar reserving the bar space and bar tables. If you want to reserve the bar, then have a private party and shut the bar down. There is also a dining area in another space which is always completely empty and I'm not sure why the management doesn't utilize this space for "reserved" seating. It's completely baffling. Management either doesn't care or doesn't have a clue. I'm sure it's the latter because this bar is always busy simply by the location default. They are probably making a killing. Seriously people, there are other bars in the area. This place is over-priced, 80% of the time the service is terrible and there are never any seats to sit and relax because of all the reserved signs. I wanted to give a better review. Truly. Been here several times. If you arrive when the restaurant is not full you will have a great experience. On the other hand, if the restaurant is full everything (and I mean everything) is so slow. For a lunch spot you simply cannot spend your time trying to find wait staff, the bill, and on and on. The food came out tepid, at best. Because the main restaurant was full we ate in the bar area. Way, way understaffed. It took us over an hour and a half to have lunch. At least half that time was waiting on something. No complaints about the food (except temp). There just does not seem to be a rudder in the water during busy times. I will go back but not when it is busy. Management desperately needs to understand that people do not like to linger over a lunch. Staff the place adequately, get the food out quickly, make sure it is serving temperature and train the wait staff to pay attention to the table. Just silly things like no silverware, no bread plates, no bread until repeated requests. It just has to get better. In looking at other review this is not a new issue. You get one more chance.

This is an excellent restaurant, independently owned, with wonderful food. It is upscale and correctly priced. The menu is more continental Europe, with German dishes, and interesting preparations on other well known, traditional dishes. Specials are offered each day, that are truly unique and special. Decor is modern with a delicate touch, very nice. Service is first rate, and wine recommendations by the staff are always excellent. I have been dining at this restaurant from it's first days, when it was located in Cherry Creek, and it never disappoints. This restaurant is where you come to dine, are treated as a special guest, and leave with satisfaction! It doesn't get much better.

We went for a Restaurant Week. I had read some reviews about poor service so I was curious to see how our experience would play out. The four of us were ALL pleasantly surprised! Not only was the server attentive, but the food and the atmosphere were top notch. For appetizers we ordered the brie and mussels. The way the brie plate was arranged was very artsy (and tasty). The mussels were seasoned perfectly and the portion of mussels was very generous. Three of us ordered the veal schnitzel and the other ordered the flat iron steak as our main courses. We couldn't have been happier. For dessert we had the chocolate cake and the apple strudel. The nuts in the chocolate cake gave the dessert a nice crunch. The apple strudel was delicious and moist. This place is a definite keeper! Thank you for the terrific experience! So glad we discovered this gem. We'll be back.

My work is within walking distance of Chinook, so we decided to walk over on a nice spring day to treat an interviewee to lunch. Upon walking in we were stunned how big this place was, and how most of the people in our office have no idea it exists. The decor is very tasteful and modern, and was a great space to have a nice lunch and chat. Their menu is small to medium sized, but has quite the variety. I had the Pork Jaeger Schnitzel with spaetzle and sauteed Brussels sprouts. The schnitzel was tender (could have used more breading though) and the wild mushroom sauce tasty, but the spaetzle was absolutely delicious! And the Brussels sprouts were seasoned and cooked perfectly - also delicious! My colleagues had the burger and Colorado chicken, and both looked quite good as well. Although Chinook may look a bit pricy at first, it's really not when you compare the quality and uniqueness of some of the dishes to many mid-level chain restaurants. It was the perfect location to host a business lunch in the DTC, and the service was spot on. May not have been the best schnitzel I've ever had, but the whole package combined earns Chinook 4-stars.

I am confused by the poor reviews. We walked in on a Thursday night around 7pm with no reservation. The place was nearly full, but they found a table for us. The service was prompt and friendly. The food was good relative to the price. Overall, it is a nice restaurant that likely deserves better reviews.

We went here for restaurant week and had a 9:30PM reservation. They were very welcoming and did not make us feel rushed at all. Ali was our server and he was knowledgable about their gluten free offerings. The salad was very good. My father said despite the extremely small serving, the crab cakes were fabulous! He also said that the bread was pretty hard and cold, little disappointing. The steak was fine. for my dessert I got the chocolate pudding and sadly when it came out it had a cookie on it -not gluten free. Ali quickly fixed that. He was so great to us! He even took my coffee off of the bill because of that little mix-up. I would definitely consider coming back. Great location - right off the light rail, I'd like to try their coffee bar.

First visit, it took the waiter 25 minutes to take our order. We received no bread or drinks until we had been sitting there for 15 minutes. We had to rush through out lunch to make it back for an afternoon appointment. Second - and will be the last - visit I ordered a simple salad with chicken to go. Granted I didn't check the salad before I left to head back across the street in the blowing snow, but I trusted (wrongfully) that it would be correct. I get back to the office and there is no chicken on my salad. I go back to the restaurant and I'm met with "she didn't hear you say chicken". Once they get the chicken added to my salad, the waiter literally shoves the salad in my face and walks away. Absolutely terrible!

Went here for an event this week and thought it was good. Had a grilled ceasar salad which was great and the prime rib which was HUGE, but pretty fatty. All in all a good experience and a beautiful place, super expensive interior - really nice. ALl in all very good.

I was there for a dinner when they first opened and everything was pretty good. And, having been to the Chinook of years past in Cherry Creek, this place has a VERY different feel. Very pretty and clean, but I was expecting more of the old ambiance (communal dining table in the bar). I hate to say this, but I was there for lunch last week and ordered the Reuben, expecting a lot. All I'm going to say is that the Smiling Moose makes a WAY better Reuben for half the price. (I'm not being fair since Chinook is much nicer restaurant and Smiling Moose is a sandwich joint. Comparing banans to pineapples). (I need to be fair - the corned beef was kinda dry, very little thousand island or cheese. Bread didn't hold up to the meat in the sandwich). My lunch companion got the lobster BLT with avocado. He was very happy with his meal and it was beautiful.

Although the food was attractive and flavorful, the service was horrible. The server was rude, arrogant, and sloppy. Soup bowls were cleared over my guests head, the server talked back to my guests as they asked questions or made requests, and simply acted annoyed that we were there. The server also argued with one of my guests about what he ordered as she dropped the WRONG plate of food in front of him. OUTRAGEOUS!!! The service would probably be better at the local Applebees, or Burger King perhaps. For an average of $15 per plate for lunch, I expect a WHOLE LOT MORE. I will never, NEVER return to this restaurant and I will warn all my friends about it also. DO NOT GO HERE!

This past Saturday night I attended my husband's work Christmas Party here. The decor is swanky and very cool. I love the light fixtures. Disliked the floor - I had on heels and had to hold on to my husbands arm so that I didn't fall flat on my butt while walking it - it was somewhat slick. But I didn't end up on my butt so it was all good. Since it was a large party (40 or so people) I'm not going to be too harsh on the service. It was a little slow and few things were forgotten and we had to ask a couple of times to get but nothing major. What is better than dipping things in cheese? Not a lot. We started with Fondue - it is some of the best fondue that I have ever had. It had big chunks of mushroom and tons of flavor with nice dipping options (apple, bread, red pepper, broccoli, and whole mushrooms). The second course was cooking food on the grill top with little pull-out pans under red hot burners. You can put a variety of things in the pull-out pans but the best thing was the cheese. You put in a slice of cheese and then 1 to 1 1/2 minutes later you pull out the pan and there is melty-goodness waiting to be poured on a variety of items. We had chicken, beef, smoky portabella mushrooms, asparagus, grilled onions, sausages to put on the grill. The chicken took a long time to cook but it was very tasty. The advantage to cooking the beef at the table is that you can have it as well done or rare as you would like - if it gets screwed up it's your own damn fault. There were also pickles and par-cooked potatoes. The potatoes were yummy with melted cheese poured over them. They also offer a variety of dipping sauces but they all seemed underwhelming next to all of the great flavors of items that were cooked on the grill. There was this one that was banana curry. For me this was not a good thing. I love banana but then mix it with curry, it was a huge miss-step for me. There was a greek sauce and then some other red sauce. The mustard for the sausages was nice but then again from the comments at the table the sausages could have been left out and no one would have even missed it. There was more food than you could shake your fondue fork at. I will be putting this on my list to visit again when I'm not there with a party and see the other side of dining.

Great food, great atmosphere...not your standard restaurant since it is evident that time was taken when making decisions. Food options are unique/special. The layout is great (large bar area, special fondue/racalette area, "meeting room", coffee/lounge space) and I can't wait until the warmer weather since I think they may have outdoor seating. I enjoy their happy hour and great energy.Go check it out and see for yourself!

They only offer German beer, which I am still confused about as the place is called Chinook. Anyhow, the beer was delicious. The ambiance was fantastic - beautiful and classily rustic.

Chinook Tavern has been the setting of two very productive committee / lunch meetings and I could not be more grateful. I searched for a restaurant that offered reservations, good food, and a quiet atmosphere in the south part of the metro area and found Chinook. Boy, am I glad I did! The first time I visited, it was snowing and our server explained their daily ravioli special in mouth-watering detail. Everyone at the table had ravioli, some special, some regular menu Wild Mushroom variety. Everyone LOVED it. The portions were generous (we each took home half), the flavors delightful, and the meal was completely satisfying. Oh, and we completed our committee meeting goals, too! Due to the very low volume level we were all able to have a conversation and HEAR what we were talking about! The service has been very friendly and welcoming on both occasions from start to finish. Efficient, knowledgeable, and inviting. Thanks, Chinook, I'll be back!

One of the nicer restaurants in the Tech Center and more upscale then I expected. The bar area is a bit more casual and a great place for the after-work crowd. I split appetizers and dinner with some friends and everything was quite good. We had the fried brie and almond crusted shrimp cakes for appetizers and apple wood grilled porcini dusted beef tenderloin and hand cut agnolotti for the main course. All were wonderfully prepared. The have an extensive wine list as well. The restaurant is fancier than where I would normally dine and was filled with an older crowd (50+), which is certainly not bad, just not my normal scene. Parents would probably love this place.

Says it's a good place for groups...not at all, had no idea what she was doing. Will NEVER go back! Prefer to go someplace where it looks like they've actually done the restaurant thing before. And now for something completely different - I'm writing this review as I sit in the place I'm reviewing on my first visit. Chinook is a cool little spot. It has beautiful hardwood decor, massive windows, and bright colors, so it's bright and cheery. It's about 4:00 in the afternoon, there's a couple next to us, a three top on the opposite side of the bar, and my friend ands I are typing away on our little laptops. The bartenders are trying to figure out the satellite stations to accommodate a request for some baseball, and we have heard a nice eclectic mix of tunes for the last hour. I am sipping on a Paulaner Pilsner, which makes me happy to see on tap, and my friend has finished a strawberry beer that she quite enjoyed. The managers are extremely friendly, the atmosphere is pleasant and soft, and food that I have seen looks delicious. Alas, I must refrain from sampling solid fare, as I am about to attend a good friends birthday party, but I plan to come back. Behind the bar is a small selection of liquor and a lovely looking wine cooler. At least twelve tap handles sprout forth from the tower, and the bar itself is clean, spacious and inviting. This place looks like Gordon Ramsey just gave it a makeover. The restaurant is comfy, also well lit, and my friend is softly but excitedly talking about the fondue and raclette that is offered here, I'm going to go with a tentative 4 stars because of the ambiance, friendliness of the managers, and my friends exuberance, while reserving the right to change the rating when I come back and sample the menu.

If you want to get into the holiday mood by all means this place maybe what you need. It certainly helped me. The decorations are lovely and the tree is funky and fun. It is very festive. Plus the art work is bright. A mixture of contemporary, country and Christmas. I was wondering where I was going to park. The parking angel was with me. I got a parking place in front. I walked into the bar and it was a little busy but didn't know where to go for dinner reservations. I wondered around for a bit and finally found someone to help me. The restaurant was empty but it was only 530 pm. Went back to the bar area till my friend arrived and we went back to the restaurant. They sat us and we ordered a bottle of Malbec. Very nice. I had ruby red trout and my friend had short ribs. The meat was tender and the trout was very good. It was a lovely evening. Being with my dearest friend was the best part of the night. The place quickly filled up and the private room was full of women Doctors. I was glad to see so many people because it is in a area surrounded by office buildings. From Cherry Creek to here. Kind of strange. I hope they stay busy.

Horrible service- We simply wanted a couple of glasses of wine for happy hour. We were sat at a table that apparently was already reserved (she pointed us our table instead of taking us to it). We were kicked out by the guests shortly after. We had to go back in and find the hostess and she pointed out a table for us again. It took 15 minutes for a server to arrive. She was saying rude things to us, I think she was trying to be sarcastic. Tip: Don't try and be sarcastic before you have recovered the guest! The wind ended up causing my wine to spill all over me. We had to try and find some napkins with little success but my friends eventually brought me some. Another 10 minutes later our waitress came by. I had to tell her what happened. She said "Darn mother nature" and walked away. Do I need to say more?

The Chinook Tavern is located in a very business like area which is a little odd for an upscale place like this. It's definitely not your cozy little hideaway. I grew up in Germany and the restaurant is owned and managed by two German brothers. I don't consider their creations German cooking though. If so it is definitely adapted to this part of the Atlantic Ocean. Their website tells you about the extensive training of the chef. That doesn't mean you have to like everything on the menu but I'd suggest that he puts a little more thought into his creations than someone just hired out of school. It also explains why a Wiener Schnitzel on their menu costs a stiff $26. My personal favorite is the duck confit pizza which is also much more affordable. It is very tasty and filling. I love that the deserts are being presented to you on a tray before you order. That's classy plus you know what you are getting yourself into. The ambience is a very unique style of modern with traditional elements like lots of wood. The bar and the patio are nice hangout places. They certainly made the best out of being in the first floor of a commercial office building. Some reviewers have complained about the service and I'd have to disagree. Everyone from the manager to the waiters has always been treating me very nicely. I look at this as a two way conversation similar to being on an airplane. Whatever you put out there is what's coming back to you. I hardly ever get bad service, that's because I do my part as well. Let's remember that we as patrons are dealing with people and not objects :) Long story short: I'll be back.

Hidden location on the Fiddler's Green circle except for the folks who use that Light Rail stop. Lots of rooms, high ceilings, good lighting. Very german style design. Shannon the bartender is sharp, attentive and friendly. The jaeger schnitzel is awesome! Grilled romaine salad is my new favorite.

I've been in twice now. The first was the week they opened, and I must say I was impressed with the decor. There was no sign yet so it was a bit hard to find off the bar/street entrance. Second time we used the garage entrance which truly is a better way to enter the place. Having never been to the location in Cherry Creek I was very excited to finally see them open. We tried the calamari, which was very nice and enjoyed some of the Paulaner's on tap. Watched pizzas and liver and duck arrive next to us which looked great as well. Can honestly say we have yet to get to the main dishes as we stopped in the second time to try the mussels. Was not disappointed! The French onion soup was fabulous and the chicken mac and cheese very tasty. Both times we were in it seemed the staff was still workign out some quirks, give them a couple of months and I think they will be the spot to visit in the tech center1

I came to Chinook to attend a group business dinner, and was fairly impressed. The decor is quite pleasant, with lots of exposed wood beams as well as a wood floor. There are large punches of bright color throughout, and some rather eclectic knicky-knacks that are equally colorful. The dangling light fixtures add a nice touch of sparkling whimsy. Our dinner meeting was conducted in one of the private rooms, which was well-insulated and quiet. The service throughout dinner was unobtrusive and efficient. One of the waiters cracked some corny and lighthearted jokes, and since I'm a sucker for corn, he had me laughing. I was a little disappointed that they didn't make much of an effort to refill wine glasses throughout the dinner, but perhaps that arrangement had been pre-arranged by our hosts. Darn. Since it was a business dinner, we didn't have access to the full menu, and were only given a selection of entrees from which to choose (the salad and dessert were selected in advance). I chose the Ruby Trout while my husband opted for the Jaeger Schnitzel. The salad was a grilled romaine, which was complemented nicely by the drizzle of tangy dressing. The trout was nicely prepared, as was the schnitzel. If you're not a big fan of creamy sauces, the schnitzel may not be the best option for you. It was fairly drowning in the sauce, but if you shovel it aside to get to the meat, you can at least control your calorie consumption a little bit. I was disappointed by the dessert - a macerated berry mixture in a ramekin topped with creme fraiche. It was like eating jam. Increasing the number of whole berries would've helped. I'm glad I now know about Chinook, and would actually like to return to explore the full menu.

Sadly this restaurant is not worth the stop. Appetizers were ok but the entres were mediocre at best. Shrimp was overcooked - for $38?! Everything needed salt not that crowded yet we hardly ever saw the waiter, who in the end tried to overcharge us for our drinks. We pointed out the error and they took it off but did not apologize. Average to below-average food. Below average service. Above average prices. About the only decent thing to write about is the architecture. Drive a little further and enjoy a better meal with better service.

On 14 Dec 2012, my office had our Holiday Party at Chinook Tavern. Although we scheduled the rooms two months in advance (16 Oct), we had several issues as this establishment, making it to the worst party we have had in the history of our organization - and making me (the office POC for the party) extremely embarrassed that I ever picked this place (even though all mishaps were out of my control). We are an AF organization that puts a lot of time into planning our annual party - but we were of no priority or concern to the restaurant. Here is a list of all the things that went wrong: 1) Two days before the party (12 Dec) I went in to pay the event coordinator we were working with for the food. While there I found out that they took away one of the rooms we had rented and booked another party in it. Obviously this upset me (since now 52 people were squished in a room that held 40 comfortably). They never gave me any heads up that they had rebooked the 2nd room and when I complained to the event coordinator (Clemens) he told me that he had originally sad we could have both rooms IF they were AVAILABLE. That is a flat-out lie. I also have the contract showing we had two rooms. It said nothing about them having to be available. They were obviously available when I booked them back in October. 2) I had paid for 52 people and had given Clemens their menu choices. When I got there, we found name tents with the food choices for 46 people. So at the last minute we were scrambling through the list to figure out who they didn't make tags for. Not a HUGE deal - just another example of their lazy quality of work. 3) In addition to that, they only had enough seats set for 50 people (even though I had paid for 52). So last minute we scrambled around to find enough room to place the last 2 people. 4) When I initially looked at the room, there is a big screen TV in it. I was told that it would be no problem to bring in a video to play during lunch. Well that Wednesday I was told I would have to bring in an IPOD for our Christmas music (which I had already made several CDs for) and a laptop to play the movie. Again, not a huge deal - just wish they were honest about it in the first place. Would have saved me a lot of work. And just to NOTE -the people working there don't know how to use that equipment so it took 20 awkward minutes to get the movie started. AND Clemens was NEVER around to help. (Although he'll tell you, we'll take care of this, or that - just be aware you'll have to do everything yourself). 5) The food was scheduled to be served at 12:45, and wasn't severed until 1:45 (an HOUR late). Needless to say, it was an embarrassment and my coworkers were extremely irritated. But at least it was warm. The party next to us got cold food (I know this because there was a line of people complaining about several issues - all parties were unhappy from what I could tell). 6) One of the choices on the menu was a grilled chicken salad. NO ONE'S salad had chicken on it. 7) They had brought us in a small personal bar - but the bartender was there less than half of the time. So, we had to go out to the main bar to purchase several drinks. When we had done that, we found out they were actually cheaper at the regular bar - they were upcharging us in the room for drinks. 8) Everytime the music went off or was turned up too loud, etc- you had to hunt down someone in the restaurant to help. They would say "I'll get right on turning down the music" and never would. All in all, the customer service was TERRIBLE (not from the servers but from management and the events coordinator). The events coordinator is lazy and scatter minded. I wouldn't trust him to plan any event. We have done many holiday party events at several places and have never had such a disaster occur. We will not be going back and just want to warn those that are planning any kind of large party event to look elsewhere. This place doesn't have a clue what they are doing. As we were leaving, I talked to the owner about all the issues we had and how disappointed I was, and his response was "you should shut up and just be happy. It's Christmas." I said "well, I would have been happy if I got the service I paid for, but now I'll just be happy to get out of here and never come back" and he said "good riddance!" Wow. So my entire group left the party early and went to a happy hour at a much better location down the street (Jing) where service was great! Also (just to note) the owners, events planner and head chef at Chinook are all are related. So they won't do anything about your complaints. If you use this place, I hope you have better luck- and I'm sorry (in advance). Looking forward to seeing this place go out of business one day soon so they can put something worth eating at in that location.

Rather unique, urban/cozy atmosphere. No other place like it in metro Denver. Off the chart service, best we've had in years. The menu leans European and has some great offerings. A little heavy on the salt would be my only complaint. We will be back. Great place.

I have been here a few times. The atmosphere is fantastic. Its a nice place for lunch meetings as the place is spacious and not very loud. I really appreciate the spacing of the tables as you don't feel like you are sharing your meal with the people next to you. The food is tasty. I generally order the German dishes and have not been disappointed. The Rote Grutze is yummy. The only down side is the staff is not quite top notch, but they are very worthy of 4 stars. I have never had bad service, but I have been to numerous restaurants that are a step above. A little more polish on the staff and this place would get 5 stars from me.

Walking to the light rail from comfort dental, after the awesome Sugarland concert, I stumbled upon this little diddy. It was around 10:15 when we stepped in, and took a seat at a booth, just to grab some drinks. The waitress we had was one of the most friendly people I've met. She had great suggestions for beers she thought we would like, and didn't rush us at all. The weird part was, shortly after we stepped in here, the manager was denying people entry at the door. Many people were trying to get in because the concert had just ended. The decor of the place, while super cute, seemed a bit snooty looking for a bar... which brings up the question... Is this a bar? Upon entering it seemed to be nothing but a bar, since that takes up half of the allotted space. However, there is a somewhat hidden dining room so it maybe more of a restaurant. After all, the name of this place is Chinook Tavern! Since when do Taverns close at 11:00? Either way, the manager was turning people away at 10:30, and those with me and I ended up feeling rushed to leave, and in fact ended up being the last ones there. When returning home, I checked the website to see what the hours were (considering this visit was on a hopping Friday night), and the hours posted are VERY unclear. Pretty much there is no closing time? They just start dinner at five and that's it? I think it would be in the best interest of the business to post its hours on the door, or to stay open later on a Friday night when comfort dental is a hop and a skip away. They seriously have the potential to be earning a lot more money, and making a lot more regulars. I may or may not come back here.

My husband and I tried this place for restaurant week, and we were very pleased. The prices on the regular menu are a little steep, but the food is very good. We are interested in their fondue/racklette room, and will definitely make a return visit just to try it out.

This is a really good tech center happy hour choice. The happy hour food is all pretty good and the atmosphere is cool. I had called ahead because there was a large group of us and they actually reserved a portion of the lounge for us with couches and tables. This is pretty rare for a bar to do and I was pleased. Another plus is that they serve their Moscow Mules in copper, which I think makes all the difference, but could just make me look cooler. Lots of professionals after work in here, good vibe for us who are getting to be older but still just as fun as we were in our 20's.

During Denver Restaurant Week, we wanted to order signature drinks after we were seated at a dining table. After we asked for the signature cocktail menu, the waiter did not offer to bring one and just said they could make anything. So, I tried to see the drink menu on their website on my iPhone. When we tried to order a few signature drinks, our first THREE drinks were out! This was at 6:30pm on Saturday. Now I know why the waiter did not offer to bring the menu. The waiter asked if we wanted him to bring bread. It sounded like if we really want bread or not. I thought a restaurant would bring bread without questioning patrons. He brought two small rolls in a BIG basket for us. Maybe he should have served it on our bread plate, instead of bringing in a basket. Food was decent. The service was below average. I wish that food and service would be much better to meet with their upscale image.

Like a lot of the reviews say great food horrible service. I went here on my lunch break the other day and I thought since it was after 2pm we would be able to get in and out within 1 hour. Clearly I was wrong. I understand it takes time to prepare a great meal however all we ordered was Calamari, French Onion Soup, and the Blackened Chicken Sandwich. I was a server for over 6 years and I know it shouldn't take an hour to receive these items unless the server forgot to ring something in. I'm not 100% sure that's what happened but that would make the most sense since the kitchen was most likely not busy. Our server also never brought us appetizer plates for our bread or calamari so we had to ask another server that was passing by. Based on the ambiance and pricing at this restaurant I was expecting a little above average service to match the food that is being served. There are so many other great options in this area don't waste your time and leave disappointed like me and obviously many others that work around here.

Chinook tavern is excellent. For Lunch, Happy Hour, Dinner, special sporting and other events. Music etc. I have attended all of these type of occasions at Chinook and am looking forward to my first Oktoberfest there. As well as the John Fox Radio show every Friday before the game. Or this Wednesday September 4th, before the First game of the 2013 season. But it all starts with great food and friendly service. The appetizers and the beer are first rate. these are some of the best appetizers in all of Denver and worth a Trip for happy hour. Or come for a romantic Dinner or Dinner with friends. The Food is excellent. You can tell that Markus the executive chef and co-owner had extensive training in Europe and has created his own flair on some traditional European and American Dishes and Appetizers. His brother Clemens manages the front of the House and each time I have been n there he is walking around, making sure everyone is enjoying themselves. I have over time tried most of the appetizers and Menu items and have never been disappointed. the food has been consistently good. The quality of the Food, the friendly atmosphere at the bar or the comfortable dining in the dining room you must try this place you will not be disappointed.

Worst service I've ever experienced. We went for happy hour and got there before the rush however the short bar manager with dark hair was rude and had an attitude because I asked to move a chair 5 ft from the side of the bar to the midsection of the bar. Then when we attempted to order a drink from the bartender with long long white blonde hair who already flashed a dirty look because I wasn't ready to order couldn't even tell me the different beers on draft. Her explanation was oh a pilsner, a couple dark beers and a stout. Really? And more attitude when I asked for the beer menu. But it didn't end there. They served me a warm martini in a plastic cup. Disgusting! Their only saving grave was a bartender with a smile that knew exactly how to clean up their mess. I will never be going back there and will be letting the group that I was there for about the horrible experience, all 1000+ people. I don't think this place will be open too much longer so don't bother. It's also very cold and industrial looking area. So many other places that serve great food and drinks, decent prices and nice atmosphere I'd rather spend my time and money.

I was unsure about trying this restaurant because it is new to the area and I haven't heard much about it. I'm glad I only tried their happy hour because the food was disappointing. I'm sorry but if you can't cook a pizza or mussels then I will NEVER come back! My husband sent back an uncooked pizza & i decided that it wasn't worth the problem to send back the mussels that were uncooked and the sauce was tasteless - very scary! The service was good but it's clear that other people have the same opinion because the place is empty!

Not impressed with this place at all. We were looking forward to trying Chinook for somewhere new and fun. The customer service was horrible, they seemed to be "out of" or "didn't carry" many things, we had to keep asking for basic things like to have our water refreshed or to have another cocktail. The food was so so, but for the price, it's definitely not wort it. I would never go back here again.

This restaurant is inside the building I work in, so it's very easy for me to get there. However, I don't go there very often. I've had some really great food there, but for the most part it's food that's too expensive and isn't worth the price. The ambience is cool, and I enjoy the artwork (the owner's wife paints it) but it's not one of my favorite places to go for lunch. I usually end up hitting one of the other places nearby.

First of all it's worth mentioning that the menu Chinook offered for 5280 was pretty impressive and they get a huge plus for that. This rating reflects the normal pricing. If the 5280 pricing was always in effect the rating would be a solid 4. Before we even ordered we ran into a little confusion, unfortunately, they offered an onion soup on the menu but when asked about it at the restaurant they refused to honor it and said it was a mistype on the website, the waitress did say we can order it of the regular menu if we wanted. (In my opinion, if it's on your menu and you offered it, if people ask you should honor it.) When it came to the food, the menu appeal is very high and the prices are not too high if each item were to be executed perfectly. Unfortunately, when it comes to execution the kitchen staff falls a little short. Once again, all items were good and some items (like the pork chop) were perfectly executed but almost every part of our meal had some things that just weren't quite right. The corn was way too sweet and didn't have any corn flavor; the pork chop plate looked bland and not very presentable; the veal schnitzel was a tad overcooked; the desert was overwhelmingly sour with nothing to counter it; the pomme frittes were pretty average. Due to all these little inconsistencies in addition to some similar mistakes on our previous visit, i came to the decision to drop a star from my rating, when i go to a restaurant of this quality i expect better.

My wife and I had our rehearsal dinner at The Chinook Tavern in early May of 2012 and we couldn't have been happier. Clemens, the owner, and his team were extremely helpful in the planning process and were willing to accommodate any and all of our requests and work within our budget. In short, the food was great, the private dining accomodations were great, the patio was great and ownership was great. We would highly recommend The Chinook Tavern for a rehearsal dinner party with less than 60 guests.

We paid $170 for dinner which consisted of thinly pounded beef and chicken and some veggies we cooked ourselves on a George foreman style grill and poured melted cheese over and dipped in sauce plus bread and veggies dipped in cheese. Chinook Tavern in Greenwood Village looks and feels very different than it did in Cherry Creek. What it has lost in homeyness, it has made up for in spaciousness, light, and modernity. I can't imagine how they hope to fill the tables in this sprawling space. The menu seems to have more of a pan-European focus than I remember at the old location. You'll find pizzas and lasagna alongside the schnitzels here. Those schnitzels were always the draw, and that appears to still be the case. At lunch they're made with pork, and veal at dinner. I've tried only the pork versions, but both are delicious. The wiener schnitzel is crispy and very lemony. It's "light," if fried pork can be such a thing. You get two smallish cutlets paired with bratkartoffel (sauteed potatoes & onions) and some rather boring mixed vegetables. The jaeger schnitzel is the big winner for me. The two cutlets this time are sauteed, but not breaded, and topped with an amazing mushroom cream sauce. It's paired with those same boring veggies and some spaetzle, which aren't much on their own, but are a perfect foil for that mushroom sauce. There is a large selection of German beer at the ample bar, and it looks like a great place for a happy hour. Lunch is fairly reasonable, but prices on the dinner specialties look about 20% higher than I would expect. Hopefully that will change with time. This is an amazing space and the first great addition to the Greenwood Village restaurant scene in years. I can't wait to explore the rest of the menu.

We also enjoyed Chinook when it was in Cherry Creek and very excited they are now in our "hood". Seven of us dined last Friday night and from that experience we have 2 tips: if you have a large group, ask in advance for a round table (better for conversations than a long narrow table). And ask for a more seasoned waiter. They have an abundance of both - but apparently you have to ask for them. That is exactly what the hostess said when we asked to be moved. We dropped some serious jack for dinner and drinks and our waiter was very young and very inexperienced. The timing was WAY off. At these prices we expect a certain level of service (anyone would). We'll be back, but now we know how the game is played: do your homework and call ahead about the kinds of tables Chinook has and then "ask" for the kind of table best for a group and ask for the kind of service you expect.

Arrived at 7:45 PM after wandering around the concrete and glass emptiness of Fiddler's Green. Entered the restaurant through the bar. The door to the street was propped open by a 2' x3' placard that announced "Chinook Tavern." The circular glass front door did not scream "Enter here..." so we risked entry through the bar. And an attractive bar it was, except for the 50" HDTV with a baseball game blaring out, "The pitcher has the ball, now he scratches..." Not exactly the ambience we expected. So we wandered around, looking lost and hopeless, hoping some kind soul would volunteer to help the lost couple find their way tot the hostess stand. After we arrived there we were advised that the parking garage was the best entrance. Once enlightened on access we were asked to wait a few minutes for a table. So we looked at their very nice wine rack and the contents thereof. We were quickly seated by a very accommodating hostess with a sweet smile and perky personality. By 8:05 no waiter had visited. We waited with our elbows on a table that rocked back and forth to the background bossa nova. We watched the staff scurrying about bringing plates and checks always accompanied by an "I am sorry you had to wait." It has been open 4-weeks and looks to be I'll-equipped to handle a full house, which it was. The website emphasizes "European cuisine." Schnitzel (Germany), pizza and two pasta dishes (Italy) make it European, I guess. The rest of the menu seemed to be "Colorado local" to me. Prices are reasonable for the wine and food. The wine list could expand its pinot noir grape selection. We had an Antinori, a Tuscan blend of Cabernet sauvignon, merlot, sangiovese, and shiraz for $52. Lovely. Nice decor with high ceilings wood and class diminishes the corporate park feel. It has multiple rooms, but the glass and ceiling height do not allow for any hint of claustrophobia. It is open, light, clean and comfortable. Hardwood floors obviate the need for carpet fresheners. We were seated in the geriatric ward with big tables of smiling faces and hair colors ranging from white to overloaded brown dye to hot pink. Interesting. The appetizers were PEI mussels (European?) with a curry (European?) cream sauce that over-powered the sweet small bites of mollusks. The grilled heart of Romaine lettuce with bacon and a creamy caesar dressing was superb. The grilling imparted a sweetness tot he Romaine that made it special. The main courses were an agnolotti with a tomato sauce. The pasta had too much gluten and was chewy, tough and disagreeable. The sauce of tomatoes was sour and unappetizing. My disch of Snake River Pork Duo, loin and pork belly, was wonderful. You've got to try it. At the Cherry Creek location we loved the dessert made with creme anglaise and cherries and boysenberries so we ordered one. The creme was not creamy. It had a gritty texture and the berry base did not have the consistency of the Cherry Creek location. Chinook Tavern is a pretty place, located amid corporate buildings. The decor. layout and art work make it visually appealing. The staff is well-intentioned but perhaps not trained well enough or of not a sufficient number to handle the traffic. We will return. Next time with the kids to get the opinions of the real food critics.

I attended a pre-opening event just over a week ago and their grand opening lunch today. The food is fantastic and the atmosphere is amazing. Today I has the Pork Jaeger Schnitzel and is was delicious. Last week I tasted the brisket and it melted in my mouth along with several other dishes. All the artwork in the restaurant was done byt the owner and it a fun and vibrant. This place is a great addition to the Denver Tech Center.

Third time is NOT the charm. This place has gone way downhill. I don't know how much the ridiculously bad service affected the mediocre food. We sat for 20 minutes and no one came by. Finally, one of us went to the hostess and reported this. Shawn came by and said he was on the job! We got water and then nothing. After a long wait, he said "sorry about the delay but I wanted you to have fresh bread"--a lie since the bread was cold. Food arrived and Shawn never checked: never a "How's the food? Need more wine? Let me pour that wine for you? Looks like you need more water." We never saw him. At great length, he brought cold apple strudel--poorly prepared or had it been sitting long enough to cool off before Shawn finally figured it out? Then the bill: we had been overcharged $24. "Oops," said Shawn, "I'll fix it." Shawn made a mediocre, overpriced place into a truly lousy experience.

Love this place! We've been here a bunch of times with customers and it is a great place to entertain. The food is amazing, the service is great, and the environment is a lot of fun. We've had several large parties in the Zermatt room. I'd never had raclette and fondue before and they are a total treat! A new favorite for lunch near our office, we're looking forward to trying it out at dinner. Ambiance and decor are great, staff is friendly and quite adept, and you get the feeling that the owners are always on hand and interested. On our second visit, I noticed the duck confit pizza just as I was about to order something else. When I asked about it and our server's eyes lit up, I knew I had to try it. I'm so glad I did. What a combination--perfect crust, housin sauce, duck, pears, Brie, and just the right amount of a slightly spicy sauce! Yum! I had trouble stopping when I was full. Great place for a business lunch--nice and open.

It is the harderst review ever for me. Usually for Denver Restaurant Week we like to go to a place we've never been before. But this time we decided to go to Chinook because we never been to new location. I loved the place when they were in Cherry Creek. Now we came to this industrial cold place. First, it was hard to find tha parking. We parked outside but later overheard a waiter telling other patrons that there is a parking behing the building. It is not very well marked. We also could not figure out where the entrance is so we entered thru the bar. I am glad our reservation was for 4:30. The place was empty and I had a chance to tour it. Love the art! The place lost the ambience of the old location but art makes it more palable. Service was mediocre. At first, the waitress said the bread is warming up. We got our appetizers and then bread arrived. It was not warm but it was definetly fresh and tasty. On top or regular 5280 menu we ordered our favorite mushroom strudel. Unless my memory is failg me it used to taste different. Almond Crusted Shrimp cakes, all two of them, looked funny on 10" plate. They probably made smaller portions for smaller price. But they would look great on a smaller plate. Here is the worst part of the dinner. We picked to come early so there would be no crowd and chef would not be rushed to cook our food. Was I wrong! My daughter and I had to send back our salmon because it was undercooked. Also, we were not impressed with dessert. They became very modern but it is not as inviting as it was at Cherry Creek. We will probably come here again but not during 5280 and not very soon. It was not worth the money.

Let's start with the positives. Food is pretty good, not off the charts, but decent. The decor is pretty chic and it's spacious inside, so you get lots of privacy. And that's it. Service is HORRIBLE. Stunningly so. Waited about 20 minutes for someone to come to our table (restaurant was fairly empty, even during restaurant week). No bread was offered or served during our long wait. Apps arrived. Still no wine. 4 minutes later entrees arrived and then no fewer than 4 people tried to take our apps (which we had just started). "are you done?" Same thing happened with entrees. "Are you done, finished, can I clear that?" So rude. Are you finished with that?" Ugh. After we finished our entrees, aout 20 minutes till we saw our waitress who looked generally annoyed to have to ask about dessert. Dessert was ok, bill came "Do you want to pay that now because I have to go do a few other things." Seriously. You get better service in IHOP. Chinook, if you are going to charge what you do for your food, step it up and get some trained wait staff. I will never be back. Plenty of other places to eat with better food and classier service.

Terrible evening at Chinook. "Attitude" in the bar was such that we left before even eating. Cold, industrial atmosphere and mostly empty spaces made us wonder what all the attitude was about. When I asked about the size of a half liter beer glass I was told with a snarl that it was "a half liter!" We used to love this place in Cherry Creek North with it's warmth and great service. That restaurant no longer exists. Not kidding - don't go!

Anyone who's visited the old in Cherry Creek and now the long-awaited new Chinook Tavern can't but compare on the two main points of ambiance and cuisine. For the former, I felt I walked into a corporate dining room had the sterility of such not been betrayed by the multi-headed "Bierzapfsaeule" that once seemed to dominate the old bar but is now dwarfed by the massive new "Theke". The massive expanse of plate glass allows plenty of light into the dining, bar and boardroom-like conference rooms with little to lend "Gemuetlichkeit" that once endeared the old cellar to diners. The new fondue-/raclette-only Zermatt room intrigues with its array of special-purpose dual Euro-kera ceramic cooktop tables, begging the question of how Herr Georg and co. would accommodate a large in-season party of 8 or more. But again, only the telltale modest array of export-only beer steins belie the owners' Teutonic heritage. But the cool and somewhat sterile digs didn't seem to be keeping away the denizens at the bar where nary an empty stool was to be had...not that they would have noticed the aesthetics. Food. We savored the raclette for two. Having bought one but not having dusted it off at home for almost a decade, we decided to leave that one lie and try the profi version. Mo, our waiter, provided faultless service of a variety of veggies, cheese, shrimp, Wuerstchen with an intriguing garnishment ranging from an improbable tsatsiki and lingonberry mix to a couple others that I liked but have since forgotten. They worked quite well on the roll-your-own mini-pan roasted raclette arrangements. Another neat trick was Mo's use of a rosemary twig to spread the hot olive oil on the roaster tray. Once the twig had been sauteed and crisped in the process, she stripped the aromatic needle-like leaves into a small dish for us to use as we wished. It added a delightful touch and I'm going to remember it for home use. I've chosen to say only "A-OK" on the overall rating only by comparison with menu choices at the old Chinook Tavern. I like Wurst with sweet bavarian mustard and sweet/sour Kartoffelsalat, OK?? But the Wurstplatter is no more. Leaving behind this and other tried and true standbys lessens the draw for me. All in all, besides the Zermatt Room's mandates there's little to say, "Ja, vee haf old country Essen" other than (Austrian) Schnitzel with Spaetzle and sweet red cabbage. It wasn't until the dessert when the ubiquitous low German/Danish raspberry rote gruetze reared its little creme anglais-topped head that another sign of the continent appeared, bringing back recollections of labskaus, Strammer Max and Gaenzefett mit Speck. Mors mors and more of the old, bitte. Doesn't anyone do Maultasche in der Bruehe? As for drinks, the sumptuous wine list offers all one might want but for me is irrelevant. Raclette for me is essentially "meat and potatoes" so I ordered a Paulaner Oktoberfest from the hydra-headed zapfer behind the bar. I could have had a Paulaner Hefeweizen, a Paulaner Lenten Molipoliwoodor or Paulaner lager or Paulaner...you get the idea. There were a couple of other non-Bavarians there, but a paltry few in this land of vaunted craft brews. It makes me wonder who holds the deed on the place. Bottom line: the new Chinook Tavern has left downtown but has gone uptown. I have no truck with the quality of what's offered. Just soften the hard-edged decor, deaden the noise in the Zermatt room and bring back some of the old world things that worked before and are not to be found elsewhere in Cow City.

Went with my family for brunch. The food was good, but the service was sub-par. I asked the waitress quite clearly if the omelette had any meat in it, and she answered clearly that the omelette had no meat (she didn't just say, "No", she actually said, "no meat.") The omelette comes back with ham, of course. I'm sure it was delicious, because the waffles that I ended up eating were great, but it was an example of bad customer service. Also, the high ceiling means that the acoustics were terrible. We couldn't hear each other talk, even though it was easy to listen to people talking across the restaurant. It was an ok place with good food, but it needs atmosphere and better service.

We had family into town and went to the new Chinook Tavern in DTC because of our experiences at the old Cherry Creek location. While the restaurant is beautiful inside (though located in an office park), we were extremely disappointed with our experience. The food was okay but the service was terrible. At first, we couldn't get the bartender to even wait on us in the bar while we waited, even though it wasn't very crowded. Then our server had a resentful attitude from the start. She refused to answer questions about the menu, and then failed to bring us our bottle of wine even after we asked about it two separate times. It took us an hour to even get our appetizers served, and another hour for our entree. The waitress seemed to get surly when we even asked when we might expect our entree. I can understand a restaurant getting backed up, or busy, though it didn't seem that crazy crowded to us. But as a former server myself, the server's attitude makes a big difference. She seemed to act as though the whole thing was our fault somehow, and resented even being asked about a drink she'd forgotten. In the end, it was an extremely disappointing experience overall, and I was embarrassed that we'd selected that restaurant for our out-of-town guests. We'll never go there again, or recommend it to anyone.

The decor is very nice with interesting bold art work through out the restaurant. Our meal was good, quick to the table with fresh ingredients. The restaurant was quiet but they needed more then the one sever they had on staff. Overall a pleasant experience and I am sure we will return.
The restaurant is beautifully appointed, charming wait staff, and interesting menu. But the food is less than any of us expected. There was five in our party and we ordered a variety from soup and salad to full meals. I ordered a wasabi crusted halibut that was overcooked, dry, and tasteless. The mashed potatoes it was served on was runny. Not worth the price.

Visited Chinook on a Saturday night as part of a moderately sized group. The decor/ambiance is wonderful. A little "artsy" but not over-the-top. The service was fair. The restaurant was not crowded but there were a couple other similar sized groups. But it was slow, and a bit careless. Had to ask for drink refills multiple times. We had a few under-aged members of the group and the waiter never took their drink order until we told him they need drinks too. The food was good but not great. I had the Weiner schnitzel ala Holstein. It was tender, and cooked right but seemed a little lacking in flavor. The portions are large though. Others in the group tried the pizza, beef tenderloin and chicken and all seemed to have the same impression... Good but not great. A little on the pricey side too. I would not make a special trip to return but I wouldn't turn down an invite either.

The Chinook, nestled in the ground floor of an office building, has two parts, both a traditional restaurant, and a raclette / fondue room. We chose the latter, and had a very tasty raclette dinner. The ingredients provided were all good (we supplemented with some beef and chicken, without which it would have been a bit sparse. The wine list was varied but fairly conventional. The service was friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be back to try one of the fondue setups, all three of which sounded good, as well as the "normal" restaurant. I don't see it becoming a regular stop, but it's definitely worth a try.

We were a group of 8 in the fondue room. We managed to enjoy ourselves, mainly by laughing about the terrible service and mediocre food. After trying for 10 minutes to get someone to take a drink order, our waitress passed by and kept walking as she told my wife she didn't have time to help us right now. Most entertaining was the technical problems with our fondue table. After various people crawled under the table while we were sitting at it... They brought out an orange 50 foot extension cord, complete with spots of missing covering. I have pictures. Of course nobody apologized, and we were presented with a full bill. We laughed some more, paid it, and left 20% tip out of pity. Recommend you avoid the fondue room!

This restaurant is stunning! Absolutely beautiful! My sister and I split the lunch special (tortellini with a side salad) and a bowl of the white asparagus soup. YUMMMY!!! Great presentation, they split it for us and good portions. We were glad we split it. Great location right off the light rail, nice parking garage, friendly staff. This place is great! Looking forward to checking out the live music on Sundays.

I really liked this place! We came here for a work lunch a while ago and I was really pleased. I'm not sure what I expected, but it certainly exceeded my expectations. The interior of the restaurant is a little more modern than I expected it to be, and they have a fabulous outdoor patio. The entrance is a little wacky in that if you come in from the street and not the garage, you have to walk through half the restaurant to get to the hostess stand. Service was great even though we had a bigger group and all of our entrees came out in a reasonable amount of time. Everyone loved their dishes - soups, salads, burgers, etc. I didn't try any of the German food though I wish I had. I guess I'll just have to go back!

Had coffee here first one morning. It was adequate. Service was extremely friendly. Also had lunch later in the day. I was surprised (shocked?) to see a few German dishes on the menu! I had the jagerschnitzel which was excellent, very tasty mushroom gravy. It came with a size of spaetzle which was out of this world: beautifully crispy, just done to perfection. Service at lunch was also very friendly and attentive.

My girlfriend picked this spot on for a New Year's Eve dinner. It was in the Denver Tech Center (i.e. the burbs to me) and seemed really mediocre (lots of 3 star reviews). Perused the menu in advance and wasn't blown away. Walked in and it was chalk full of 40+ year old folks. And me, Mr. brown man, was holding down the minority fort (hollaaaaa). Expected a miss. Sometimes your expectations are wrong. I was eating crow (well, a large, tasty steak) and am now writing this positive review as my mea culpa. We entered from the street side and there's a weird walk to the hostess stand in the middle of the restaurant (there's also a garage entrance that I'd recommend as it's warmer and dumps you right at the host stand). While that was awkward, the rest of the meal went swimmingly. We started with their fried brie; it's like mozzarella sticks ... but amazing-er. Had a nice crunch with that great gooey brie flavor on the inside. We also split a salad at the rec of the waiter (we were going to order 2 but were told they were quite large). He was right and I appreciated that! I'm a huge steak fan and got their prime rib. I don't do much carbs and love extra meat. I requested this and they happily obliged. My gf is a vegetarian and got a pretty tasty quinoa dish. At the end of your meal they bring out this amazing looking dessert tray. We passed, but wished there was more room for dessert. All in all, it's not a gimmicky spot. It's meat-heavy fare (saw some German stuff which looked good too) that also accommodates vegetarians. The service was excellent and the live music / ambiance was comfy and nice.

Judging by the Yelp reviews, I think Chinook might be the absolute exception where something screws up, ratings go sour, and management takes notice and immediate action; our dinner went off without a hitch. The location is really nice - I had no idea this place existed - and there is both indoor and outdoor seating. They can accommodate large groups in banquet rooms and serve a fixed menu (apps, couple choices for main entree, and a dessert). The staff were stars -- friendly and highly accommodating. Service was a bit slow at points, but they did a great job with getting people's orders right (changes to cooking methods, sides, sauces, etc.). I don't believe anyone's dinner was delivered incorrectly. Bonus for Lavazza coffee! (i.e. HAAAALLELUJAH) I wanted to give 5 stars, but I'm really hesitant without visiting again. If I rack up more tastebud time here, I will reconsider.

I have eaten here twice, once at a company function and once taking a hiring candidate out to dinner. The service was exquisite; our waitress was very knowledgeable and was one of only a few people who can get the German pronunciation of my last name. The food was pricey, but worth it. The guy across from me had a very thick pork chop that he liked. I had a ravioli dish with several cheeses, which I finished. This place is a good for a date to experience upscale German cuisine.

The only thing that keeps me from giving this restaurant a better review is the friendliness of the staff at the restaurant. We had the calamari, fried Bree, and shrimp cakes as appetizers. There were four of us, we had two bottles of wine and meals the bill was approximately $500 I thought it was a little expensive for the quality and the presentation of the food.

A group of 6 friends ate here on a Saturday night. The service is the worst I've had in as long as I can remember. We were sat immediately, and the waiter came up as we were sitting down to take drink orders (before we'd even picked up the wine list). We asked for more time, and he came back 1 minute later and took our very rushed order. After drinks were delivered, the waiter walked past our table for 45 straight minutes without acknowledging us. Literally, we sat down at 6:25, we weren't able to place our orders until 7:10. This despite eye contact, waving of hands, anything. It was surreal. Our orders eventually came out, the french onion soup was good, but almost room temp. They add a $3 charge to split salads, just greedy. Both steaks that were ordered came out over-cooked...by a lot. When we asked for a steak knife, we were told that there are no steak knives, just use our butter knives. Not easy given the toughness of the steak. One of the plates was supposed to not have truffle oil on the fries. When we asked which one didn't have truffle oil, the food runner took the plates back to the hallway around the corner, and put here nose an inch away from each plate to sniff them for the oil, then brought them back. Just lovely. The waiter never once returned to see how our meal was, if we needed anything, etc. Though he did randomly come by once in a while to fill my iced tea, but never said a word. This was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a very long time, and I will absolutely will not be returning here. Too bad, since I only work about 2 blocks away. As a side note, i saw two managers working. Both had frowns on their faces the entire time. Never greeted anybody as they walked past, and couldn't even be bothered to feign a smile. I'm not surprised the service was representative of their attitudes.

Delicious and great service! I went here with my boyfriend and his dad for dinner and we all left smiling and full. All of our meals were fantastic - usually there's a dish that doesn't taste as good as the others but all of us were in awe of how good everything was. We started with the fig and brie appetizer which was the best brie I've ever tasted. The service was fine and our waiter didn't mind answering all of our many questions. We even ordered dessert which I isually resist but the appetizer and entree were so good I couldn't help myself! Highly recommend.

Today I attended a business luncheon at Chinook Tavern. The event space is excellent and the service was wonderful, however the main course was the worst meal I have ever had at a restaurant. I do not even know what I was eating. It was meat in sauce with pickled cabbage and some kind of pasta that tasted more like scrambled eggs. It was so very odd. Almost every person at my table only had a few bites. I have heard from many that the food here is pretty good so I was quite disappointed with what was served to our group of 50. I was thinking of coming back with friends and family because I love the ambience, but after trying the food I am sad to say I do not think I will return.

Not sure what happened- this used to be such a classy place. The light and ambiance is spectacular! I was excited to show this place off to my hubby. I was pretty embarrassed. The lowdown- we had reservations and we were seated promptly. The waiter took about 15 minutes to come and get our drink order. We were ready to order, but he wouldn't take our lunch order. Then he came back 5 minutes later and took our drink order again. We were confused because we had our drinks. From there it was just a nightmare. It took 45 minutes for a cup of soup to arrive. By the time our lunch arrived my lunch hour was over and I had to get it boxed to go. I was bummed because it wasn't even close to what I ordered. It wasn't fun to eat my reheated lunch for dinner. At $50 for lunch and declining service, I will most definitely go to one of the other deserving area businesses.

I came here for a Regis Alumni cocktail reception. So, for me, other than tipping the waitresses, I did not have to open my wallet on this particular evening. I had not been here before, but had heard it was expensive. As I previously mentioned, that was not an issue for me this night. The beers on tap in the bar area were nicely cold, with some decent selections. For food, they put out trays of sliders, pizzas, and a few other items. I really enjoyed the sliders. These were Classic Chinook Kobe Beef Sliders (artisan buns, caramelized onions, Tillamook cheddar cheese, chipotle mayonnaise), and they were excellent. The pizzas included a pepperoni offering, which was good, one I did not try, and a nice Chinook Margherita Pizza (tomato, fresh basil, mozzarella). The service was very good, and I would like to come here again to try more items on the menu.

Meh...Pretty sure I'm not going to eat here again. Had lunch here this week, and it was plain food with a great space. I have worked in the building for awhile now, and had the chance to check out Chinook this week. The bread on my hot pastrami sandwich was like eating captain crunch it hurt the roof of my mouth so much. The sauerkraut had absolutely no flavor which is tragic coming from a German restaurant (I am part German and grew up with homemade sauerkraut). Service was slow, but the server was really nice. Overall it was bland from the food to the service, if I had to give it a color it would be beige.

Chinook is a short walk from my new office building so it's an easy destination for lunch. They have a nice interior and the ambiance is friendly and relaxed. The lunch menu is very limited and mostly lies in the sandwich realm. I had the BLT, which was served on some flatbread. It was actually really good. The service was also excellent. The waitress came by quite often to check on us. I've heard the happy hours are really happening hear, so I'll give that a shot next time!

Tonight, we went to the Chinook Tavern for a girl's night out during 5280 restraunt week. I am glad that I only paid $30.00 plus a $7 glass of wine for the experience. The appearance of the place is lovely and warm with beautiful wood paneling framing the space from floor to ceiling. I ended up wishing the food had matched the decor. The staff were friendly but gave us the wrong menu initially--if you want to do the fondue you must reserve a particular room--which is okay, but don't taunt us with that yummy menu when we can't choose from it! Our waiter was not very attentive or helpful and we had to ask for enough menus and wine lists for our party of 7. Fortunately water service was good though bread did not come to the table for nearly 45 minutes and only exactly 6 rolls were given. Even though we were all ready to order our food, the waiter insisted that we wait to tell him what we wanted until he came back with our drinks. The food: I was mostly happy with my appetizer, the fried brie with fruit, bread, and lingon berry jam. I did not care for the grilled bread at all, it just did not complement the brie, but the brie was a lightly breaded fried delight. Others had the shrimpcake (very good), the salad (light and fresh)and the lobster bisque which both sent back as too fishy, heavy, and frankly, ugly. My main course was the applewood smoked flat iron steak. I found mine to be quite good but a bit cold, like it may have been plated too early. But the medium rare doneness I requested was spot on with some charring on the outside. A friend who also had the steak felt it was too charred. The sauce and asparagus were melt in your mouth good. I have never had such tender asparagus! Too bad there were only 2 spears of it. The 2 shrimp were a bland afterthought. The almond croquettes were interesting but were basically mashed potatoes rolled in almond batter--more asparagus or something with more contrast would have been better. This meal paired nicely with a glass of stone cellar merlot. Others had the pork with wild mushroom cream sauce and noodles. I adored the taste I had. Perhaps the biggest disappointment of the meal was the dessert. I chose a flourless chocolate torte. It was not only flourless but flavourless too. The menu does not mention nuts but this slab of hard monolithic sorta-of -almost chocolate was riddled with walnuts or almonds-- it was hard to tell which one. The best parts were not the cake but all the things around it: the sweet cream sauce dribbled in miserly proportions around the cake, a chocolate frosting rosette, and the white and dark chocolate twirls on top as garnish...even the strawberries were sadly bland. I did not save the leftover 1/2 to share it--just wasn't worth it. I did get a nibble of the strudel and it was divine...So, I am truly glad that I did not pay full price for the range of food I had. Given the prix fixe menu, the portions were understandably small but it would have been nice if the taste of the showy food had matched the ambiance of the place.

Always fantastic authentic German food! The seasonal white spargel (asparagus) is always worth it and one of the only places to offer it on the front range!! The covered parking and located at a light rail stop make the location ideal. Fun summer patio/biergarten & evening concert series too. A great experience from the service to the food to the location!

So just to level set I work across the street and have been here a few times with my company who spends quite a bit on executive dinners Meeting one of my good friends for lunch today he suggested chinook. Why not? I got there early and ordered a sprite since no beer drinking when u have to go back to work. Well my spite was one and done an he kept filling my glass with water upon refill- no big deal I probably need the hydration I'm a super boring eater so I order the chicken sandwich, only cheese. This seems so simple to me people but I guess not. Fast forward and out comes my meal with mayo avacdo lettuce tomatoes. Yuck. Not my bag. I let the bartender kindly and graciously know it wasn't what I wanted and as it turns out the owner is sitting next to me. Bartender lets me know he put my order into the kitchen as requested but what came out wasn't close ----so why serve it??? So away he takes it. The owner now tries to jump in and offers to make another one but by now my lunch hour has evaporated. I graciously decline and offer to pay for the meal. They then offered to see if another chicken breast was cooking so I cud take a to go order. Nice gesture no such luck. So the bartender brings the first sandwich out AGAIN and suggests I just scrape off what I don't like. Are you fucking kidding ??? If I wanted to do that I would not have even asked originally A 14 dollar chicken sandwich may add. So now I have to run back to work and asked for the bill. Bartender takes my card and returns with a recipet not a bill so allow me to ask again for the bill. One star for cool interior and one star for trying to make it right. Won't be back at least for a long time or until someone from work wants to buy me a beer

We were the 10-year married couple with 2 kids that are 1.5 and 4.5 years old. We love going out. The food was top notch and they treated the kids wonderful. Brought out extras and separated food. The food was AMAZING!! I had the lamb shank and it was off the chart. Good dessert and a fun crew!

One of the snobbiest places I have ever been to... Outrageously expensive for the quality of food/service we received. I met up with my family to try out a new fondue restaurant. Upon arriving I'll admit that we mistook what the waiter was asking us in regards to what type of dinner we wanted so they seated us in the non-fondue section which we did not realize until after looking at the menu. So we politely asked if we could still get the fondue dinner we were hoping for, and our French-accented waiter (I wish I got his name) looked at us as if we'd personally insulted him and they begrudgingly moved us into another section where they served fondue. They acted as if it was the end of the world over this honest mistake, making my family and I feel like a giant nuisance. Keep in mind that this was a WEDNESDAY night and the restaurant was nearly empty, so I don't see why it was necessary to make us feel bad about it and treat us like an inconvenience. The rest of the dinner was terribly awkward and we wanted to leave asap. We were one of two parties in our room and the same waiter who was serving us was overly friendly and attentive to the other table but my family sat there for the longest time without any service and it took forever to get our food, which was mediocre after all. Every time our waiter came to our table he hardly gave us a smile and was very cold to us. The experience was a huge letdown and we will not be returning to this restaurant.

First time here, we came for the live music. Delta Sonics Trio was playing, I follow the well known Denver Blues band all over Denver. A must see band. When we arrived tot he tavern, the hostess was no where to be found. After about 10 minutes of being passed by waitstaff we were finally greeted and seated. It took another 15-20 minutes to get a drink order, water and menus. The patio wasn't busy at all. The staff wasn't to familiar with the patio menu or draft beers. I wanted an IPA and I got a confused look from the waitress, I don't blame here, maybe a training issue. Once more waitstaff came out to the patio to help, our waitress was more attentive and ended up being an awesome server. The food was good, we ordered the pizza and sliders. Like the touch of truffle oil on the fries. Overall a good night, Delta Sonics jammed and being on the patio, the colorado sunset was beautiful. I would like to see a cook to order grill on the patio instead of a limited menu from the inside dining area. And maybe a wider variety of drink items for the patio, or being able to order from the bar inside for the customers on the patio.

I am extremely confused by all the recent negative reviews. I have been here twice - for dinner both times - and have been blown away by both the service and the food on both occasions. Lets start with the ambiance - the feel of the place is warm and inviting, with interesting eclectic artwork, nice lighting, big windows, wood vaulted ceilings, etc. The wait staff is extremely personable and shares the evening with you, rather than just being "the waiter" or "the bus boy". What I mean is if you aren't that person glued to your phone and are actually out to dinner to talk and converse over good food, maybe learn something knew, the waiters here are outstanding. Some people have complained about the length of time it takes to be served - our waitress was at our table within 5 minutes, had our bottle of wine and water within 10 minutes, and had our appetizers ordered in within 15-20 minutes - and we had time to chat about the menus and for our server to make recommendations. To me; this is a FINE DINING restaurant experience. You're not eating at Chili's people - if you want quick in and out dining go somewhere less classy. The food is divine. The chef really does care about the food, and it shows in every dish. We ordered the Escargot and Fried Brie for appetizers, Wasabi-Pea encrusted Halibut, The special White Asparagus with Bistro Fillet, and finally the Strawberry Ice Cream (can't remember the technical name) and the Chocolate/White Chocolate cake. We topped it off with the recommended Cashmere bottle of wine and were very, very happy with each course. The owners both came by our table -twice- to make sure everything was good and we were happy. The one even remembered us from the last time we were here, almost 2 years ago - remembering what we ordered and where we sat! I felt extremely at home and taken care of here. Its expensive - a treat restaurant so we only come on occasion - but it is always worth every penny.

Went here with a big group of about a dozen from work and the manager relocated us to a quieter section as we were originally seated by a large party of 40 plus and we could not hear each other over the crowd - he was accommodating and we appreciated it. The happy hour was decent however they were out of several of the happy hour food items (plenty of booze though)... We were bummed about the featured happy hour items being gone and settled on some pizzas which were OK. Parking can be tricky but there is plenty farther down the road although it was a tad desolate walking to my car alone (buddy system recommended). I also like that their HH runs until 6:30- the extra half hour is welcome. This location is super close to my work so an easy place for a DTC meet up.

This was my first visit to this German/American Restuarant but won't be my last. First let me say this is a very nice place but not a tavern in the traditional sense. Don't expect to get a hamburger and fried pickles. The food is fine dining. I would suggest renaming this place just "Chinook" or ChiGood". We heard this place is busiest at lunch and happy hour. For lunch get there around 11:30 to bypass the crowds. It's restuarant week in Denver and Chinook Tavern is serving what looks like a pretty good dinner. I went with a business associate based on a recommendation from his friend despite the 3.0 rating yelp has given Chinook. A rating that should somehow be adjusted up. Let's rate each item on a scale of 1-5. Service - 10 When I read the reviews most of the complaints were about the service we didn't experience bad service at all. Could be that the place wasn't really busy when we were there but Ali was absolutely the best!!! Greek salad - 3.0 please don't mess with this standard. Not enough red onion, tomatoes, or olives and the greens should never be bitter greens. It wasn't a 2 or 1 but I wouldn't order that again. My only bad review :) French onion soup - 7 tasted like mine so I was very happy! Fried Brie with berries and croutons - 7 not something I should be eating but my friend Jordan ordered this and shared a bite. Veal Jaeger schnitzel with wild mushroom cream sauce 4.5 cut the veal with a fork and the flavor swerve outstanding. House baked apple strudel - 5 just like my grandma made. Salmon - 5 Jordan shared his salmon as well and I would probably order this next time. This place is a keeper! Glad we listened to Jordan's friend and not Yelp on this one.

Excellent food, but shitty service. My wife booked a Thursday night dec 11th, Christmas party one month in advance for a 11 people. We eat rolls for an hour or more before they managed to get us our salads. We then waited another hour for our entries. We know a couple that ate the week before, also very slow service.

Food was very disappointing for a place that should live up to their $30/plate on average price point. We had the Brie, beet salad, beef tenderloin and my husband had a pizza. When you see pommes frites on a menu selection that costs $31, one would think some delicious, high quality, well seasoned potatoes of some kind would come out. Not French fries I could get at Wendy's for .99 cents. The tenderloin I ordered medium rare and it came out medium to well done. It was so flavorless, I didn't even bother sending it back. My husbands pizza looked like something you might get at Applebee's, he didn't finish either. Oh and my tenderloin had 2 asparagus pieces. 2. And a pile of cheap French Fries and 3 little pieces of overcooked, flavorless tenderloin. I give this place 3 stars because the service was friendly, and it seems like a nice little restaurant. But it was sat night at 8pm and there was one person sitting in the bar and the restaurant was not even close to full. I wouldn't waste my money again. Too bad because I used to love this place when it was in CC.

We had an excellent dinner on Christmas evening. They had an excellent special menu for the holiday. The parking garage was easy to find and led us right to the restaurant's front door on a snowy night. At a loss about some of the poor reviews. The food was top notch and the service was exactly what you would expect at a quality restaurant. I really liked the ambiance as well. We will be returning for Valentine's Day.

The food is overpriced and not that good. We got the standard cheese fondue.... And it was mediocre. $36 for a bowl of cheese and chopped up veggies and bread. You can't order for one... You have to order for two. The service was not as awful as everyone claimed it was. My water glass was never empty. I rate my restaurants based on the quality of the food anyways. Beautiful place... Nice ambience... It has potential. The food needs some work. The food would've been stellar if this was a dinner party at someone's house. Don't waste your money here. We left hungry and with thinner wallets.

We were pleasantly surprised by the airy, modern and huge space when we walked in from the middle of an area that more closely resembled Silicon Valley. The high ceilings and cool Southwestern art throughout made us almost forget that we were in the bottom of an office building. The eclectic menu seemed to be a fusion of American, German, Italian, and other European countries. Our service was a bit spotty -- forgetting to bring us bread and not being overly available throughout our meal -- however our waiter was friendly. We enjoyed our appetizers -- fried brie, streudel, and french onion soup. The entrees were less impressive. The steak sauce was overly salty and the salmon special was overcooked. For the price, it was a little disappointing. However, this place definitely fulfills a need for an area not far from Fiddler's Green that is in need of a nicer restaurant.

We came here for Christmas Eve dinner and it was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a restaurant. Granted, I understand the staff doesn't want to be working on Christmas Eve, but it's not an excuse for how horrible our service was. Our waiter took 25 minutes to acknowledge our table. When the waiter came by for our drink order we couldn't even order because we had no drink menus and only one wine menu for a table of 12. Another 20 minutes passed, then we finally put in our food order. Then 20 more minutes later we find out from our server that they are out of ravioli for the night. No apologies, he rudely asked us "what do you want now?". How would we know without a menu? When we finally did get food, my quinoa was incredibly small. I was still hungry after. I understand that the restaurant ran out if something, but half of our table ordered the out of stock item and it took 20 minutes to tell us. An apology from a manager or a free dessert would have done wonders. Instead we all received" $10 off an entree coupons" that can't be combined. We left them on the table and will not be back. Ok food, but the incredibly bad service and management makes this place one of the worst I've ever experienced. Also heads up waitstaff, maybe you shouldn't be rude to each other in Spanish, because a lot of people, including me, understand every word.

Six of us visited Chinook prior to a concert at Fiddlers- like most. Had a really bad experience. Took about 10 minutes to get water initially and about the same for our waitress to get to our table. Took ridiculously long to get our drinks - which eventually came in plastic cups since they ran out of cups. At $8-$10/pop I wouldn't expect solo cups. The sweet drinks were too sweet and the wine I was brought was not the wine I ordered - drank it anyway. Our food was marginal - the French onion soup is billed as "awesome" - it was good - I'd say French onion soup is not a tough one to figure out (although I have had awesome French onion - not here), probably slightly above average. We also had the smoked salmon app - it was ok also - the smoked salmon had a slight "fishy" taste, which I didn't expect and the bread served with the salmon was huge/thick - too much. Finally we ordered the duck confit pizza - which was great in concept, but the execution was terrible. We had to pick out duck bones from the top of the pizza and the pizza was (very) undercooked... There were six of us at the table - we all had some sort of strange issue - we're not complainers, either - this place just fell on its face last night. The owners were clearly running around overwhelmed. Combination of slow service, incorrect service and really poor food (other stuff is forgivable if the food is good). Won't go back. Definitely don't go on a Fiddler's night.

I came in for Easter brunch. It was amazing, the food was delicious I had the Weiner schnitzel and a beet salad. Drinks were good too. The best part was our server Linus. I remember his name cause he made a home about not having a blanket. He was attentive, funny and made pur dinner one of the best. We will be back and hopefully Linus will be working.

I have been to this bar several times and each time it's a bigger disappointment than the last. I must be a glutton for punishment but when you work upstairs its just sheer convenience that takes over any rational thinking. When my colleagues and I want to go for a quick cocktail during happy hour the entire bar is always reserved with no one sitting in the reserved spots. The actually bar is even reserved. WTF? I grew up in the restaurant and tavern industry and never in my life have I ever heard of a bar reserving the bar space and bar tables. If you want to reserve the bar, then have a private party and shut the bar down. There is also a dining area in another space which is always completely empty and I'm not sure why the management doesn't utilize this space for "reserved" seating. It's completely baffling. Management either doesn't care or doesn't have a clue. I'm sure it's the latter because this bar is always busy simply by the location default. They are probably making a killing. Seriously people, there are other bars in the area. This place is over-priced, 80% of the time the service is terrible and there are never any seats to sit and relax because of all the reserved signs. The food is nothing exciting and you can get a much better, non-over-priced meal at many establishments in the same area.

I wanted to give a better review. Truly. Been here several times. If you arrive when the restaurant is not full you will have a great experience. On the other hand, if the restaurant is full everything (and I mean everything) is so slow. For a lunch spot you simply cannot spend your time trying to find wait staff, the bill, and on and on. The food came out tepid, at best. Because the main restaurant was full we ate in the bar area. Way, way understaffed. It took us over an hour and a half to have lunch. At least half that time was waiting on something. No complaints about the food (except temp). There just does not seem to be a rudder in the water during busy times. I will go back but not when it is busy. Management desperately needs to understand that people do not like to linger over a lunch. Staff the place adequately, get the food out quickly, make sure it is serving temperature and train the wait staff to pay attention to the table. Just silly things like no silverware, no bread plates, no bread until repeated requests. It just has to get better. In looking at other review this is not a new issue. You get one more chance.

This is an excellent restaurant, independently owned, with wonderful food. It is upscale and correctly priced. The menu is more continental Europe, with German dishes, and interesting preparations on other well known, traditional dishes. Specials are offered each day, that are truly unique and special. Decor is modern with a delicate touch, very nice. Service is first rate, and wine recommendations by the staff are always excellent. I have been dining at this restaurant from it's first days, when it was located in Cherry Creek, and it never disappoints. This restaurant is where you come to dine, are treated as a special guest, and leave with satisfaction! It doesn't get much better.

We went for a Restaurant Week. I had read some reviews about poor service so I was curious to see how our experience would play out. The four of us were ALL pleasantly surprised! Not only was the server attentive, but the food and the atmosphere were top notch. For appetizers we ordered the brie and mussels. The way the brie plate was arranged was very artsy (and tasty). The mussels were seasoned perfectly and the portion of mussels was very generous. Three of us ordered the veal schnitzel and the other ordered the flat iron steak as our main courses. We couldn't have been happier. For dessert we had the chocolate cake and the apple strudel. The nuts in the chocolate cake gave the dessert a nice crunch. The apple strudel was delicious and moist. This place is a definite keeper! Thank you for the terrific experience! So glad we discovered this gem. We'll be back.

My work is within walking distance of Chinook, so we decided to walk over on a nice spring day to treat an interviewee to lunch. Upon walking in we were stunned how big this place was, and how most of the people in our office have no idea it exists. The decor is very tasteful and modern, and was a great space to have a nice lunch and chat. Their menu is small to medium sized, but has quite the variety. I had the Pork Jaeger Schnitzel with spaetzle and sauteed Brussels sprouts. The schnitzel was tender (could have used more breading though) and the wild mushroom sauce tasty, but the spaetzle was absolutely delicious! And the Brussels sprouts were seasoned and cooked perfectly - also delicious! My colleagues had the burger and Colorado chicken, and both looked quite good as well. Although Chinook may look a bit pricy at first, it's really not when you compare the quality and uniqueness of some of the dishes to many mid-level chain restaurants. It was the perfect location to host a business lunch in the DTC, and the service was spot on. May not have been the best schnitzel I've ever had, but the whole package combined earns Chinook 4-stars.

I am confused by the poor reviews. We walked in on a Thursday night around 7pm with no reservation. The place was nearly full, but they found a table for us. The service was prompt and friendly. The food was good relative to the price. Overall, it is a nice restaurant that likely deserves better reviews.

We went here for restaurant week and had a 9:30PM reservation. They were very welcoming and did not make us feel rushed at all. Ali was our server and he was knowledgable about their gluten free offerings. The salad was very good. My father said despite the extremely small serving, the crab cakes were fabulous! He also said that the bread was pretty hard and cold, little disappointing. The steak was fine. for my dessert I got the chocolate pudding and sadly when it came out it had a cookie on it -not gluten free. Ali quickly fixed that. He was so great to us! He even took my coffee off of the bill because of that little mix-up. I would definitely consider coming back. Great location - right off the light rail, I'd like to try their coffee bar.

First visit, it took the waiter 25 minutes to take our order. We received no bread or drinks until we had been sitting there for 15 minutes. We had to rush through out lunch to make it back for an afternoon appointment. Second - and will be the last - visit I ordered a simple salad with chicken to go. Granted I didn't check the salad before I left to head back across the street in the blowing snow, but I trusted (wrongfully) that it would be correct. I get back to the office and there is no chicken on my salad. I go back to the restaurant and I'm met with "she didn't hear you say chicken". Once they get the chicken added to my salad, the waiter literally shoves the salad in my face and walks away. Absolutely terrible!

Went here for an event this week and thought it was good. Had a grilled ceasar salad which was great and the prime rib which was HUGE, but pretty fatty. All in all a good experience and a beautiful place, super expensive interior - really nice. ALl in all very good.

I was there for a dinner when they first opened and everything was pretty good. And, having been to the Chinook of years past in Cherry Creek, this place has a VERY different feel. Very pretty and clean, but I was expecting more of the old ambiance (communal dining table in the bar). I hate to say this, but I was there for lunch last week and ordered the Reuben, expecting a lot. All I'm going to say is that the Smiling Moose makes a WAY better Reuben for half the price. (I'm not being fair since Chinook is much nicer restaurant and Smiling Moose is a sandwich joint. Comparing banans to pineapples). (I need to be fair - the corned beef was kinda dry, very little thousand island or cheese. Bread didn't hold up to the meat in the sandwich). My lunch companion got the lobster BLT with avocado. He was very happy with his meal and it was beautiful.

Although the food was attractive and flavorful, the service was horrible. The server was rude, arrogant, and sloppy. Soup bowls were cleared over my guests head, the server talked back to my guests as they asked questions or made requests, and simply acted annoyed that we were there. The server also argued with one of my guests about what he ordered as she dropped the WRONG plate of food in front of him. OUTRAGEOUS!!! The service would probably be better at the local Applebees, or Burger King perhaps. For an average of $15 per plate for lunch, I expect a WHOLE LOT MORE. I will never, NEVER return to this restaurant and I will warn all my friends about it also. DO NOT GO HERE!

This past Saturday night I attended my husband's work Christmas Party here. The decor is swanky and very cool. I love the light fixtures. Disliked the floor - I had on heels and had to hold on to my husbands arm so that I didn't fall flat on my butt while walking it - it was somewhat slick. But I didn't end up on my butt so it was all good. Since it was a large party (40 or so people) I'm not going to be too harsh on the service. It was a little slow and few things were forgotten and we had to ask a couple of times to get but nothing major. What is better than dipping things in cheese? Not a lot. We started with Fondue - it is some of the best fondue that I have ever had. It had big chunks of mushroom and tons of flavor with nice dipping options (apple, bread, red pepper, broccoli, and whole mushrooms). The second course was cooking food on the grill top with little pull-out pans under red hot burners. You can put a variety of things in the pull-out pans but the best thing was the cheese. You put in a slice of cheese and then 1 to 1 1/2 minutes later you pull out the pan and there is melty-goodness waiting to be poured on a variety of items. We had chicken, beef, smoky portabella mushrooms, asparagus, grilled onions, sausages to put on the grill. The chicken took a long time to cook but it was very tasty. The advantage to cooking the beef at the table is that you can have it as well done or rare as you would like - if it gets screwed up it's your own damn fault. There were also pickles and par-cooked potatoes. The potatoes were yummy with melted cheese poured over them. They also offer a variety of dipping sauces but they all seemed underwhelming next to all of the great flavors of items that were cooked on the grill. There was this one that was banana curry. For me this was not a good thing. I love banana but then mix it with curry, it was a huge miss-step for me. There was a greek sauce and then some other red sauce. The mustard for the sausages was nice but then again from the comments at the table the sausages could have been left out and no one would have even missed it. There was more food than you could shake your fondue fork at. I will be putting this on my list to visit again when I'm not there with a party and see the other side of dining.

Great food, great atmosphere...not your standard restaurant since it is evident that time was taken when making decisions. Food options are unique/special. The layout is great (large bar area, special fondue/racalette area, "meeting room", coffee/lounge space) and I can't wait until the warmer weather since I think they may have outdoor seating. They only offer German beer, which I am still confused about as the place is called Chinook. Anyhow, the beer was delicious. The ambiance was fantastic - beautiful and classily rustic.

Chinook Tavern has been the setting of two very productive committee / lunch meetings and I could not be more grateful. I searched for a restaurant that offered reservations, good food, and a quiet atmosphere in the south part of the metro area and found Chinook. Boy, am I glad I did! The first time I visited, it was snowing and our server explained their daily ravioli special in mouth-watering detail. Everyone at the table had ravioli, some special, some regular menu Wild Mushroom variety. Everyone LOVED it. The portions were generous (we each took home half), the flavors delightful, and the meal was completely satisfying. Oh, and we completed our committee meeting goals, too! Due to the very low volume level we were all able to have a conversation and HEAR what we were talking about! The service has been very friendly and welcoming on both occasions from start to finish. Efficient, knowledgeable, and inviting. Thanks, Chinook, I'll be back!

One of the nicer restaurants in the Tech Center and more upscale then I expected. The bar area is a bit more casual and a great place for the after-work crowd. I split appetizers and dinner with some friends and everything was quite good. We had the fried brie and almond crusted shrimp cakes for appetizers and apple wood grilled porcini dusted beef tenderloin and hand cut agnolotti for the main course. All were wonderfully prepared. The have an extensive wine list as well. The restaurant is fancier than where I would normally dine and was filled with an older crowd (50+), which is certainly not bad, just not my normal scene. Parents would probably love this place.

And now for something completely different - I'm writing this review as I sit in the place I'm reviewing on my first visit. Chinook is a cool little spot. It has beautiful hardwood decor, massive windows, and bright colors, so it's bright and cheery. It's about 4:00 in the afternoon, there's a couple next to us, a three top on the opposite side of the bar, and my friend ands I are typing away on our little laptops. The bartenders are trying to figure out the satellite stations to accommodate a request for some baseball, and we have heard a nice eclectic mix of tunes for the last hour. I am sipping on a Paulaner Pilsner, which makes me happy to see on tap, and my friend has finished a strawberry beer that she quite enjoyed. The managers are extremely friendly, the atmosphere is pleasant and soft, and food that I have seen looks delicious. Alas, I must refrain from sampling solid fare, as I am about to attend a good friends birthday party, but I plan to come back. Behind the bar is a small selection of liquor and a lovely looking wine cooler. At least twelve tap handles sprout forth from the tower, and the bar itself is clean, spacious and inviting. This place looks like Gordon Ramsey just gave it a makeover. The restaurant is comfy, also well lit, and my friend is softly but excitedly talking about the fondue and raclette that is offered here, I'm going to go with a tentative 4 stars because of the ambiance, friendliness of the managers, and my friends exuberance, while reserving the right to change the rating when I come back and sample the menu.

If you want to get into the holiday mood by all means this place maybe what you need. It certainly helped me. The decorations are lovely and the tree is funky and fun. It is very festive. Plus the art work is bright. A mixture of contemporary, country and Christmas. I was wondering where I was going to park. The parking angel was with me. I got a parking place in front. I walked into the bar and it was a little busy but didn't know where to go for dinner reservations. I wondered around for a bit and finally found someone to help me. The restaurant was empty but it was only 530 pm. Went back to the bar area till my friend arrived and we went back to the restaurant. They sat us and we ordered a bottle of Malbec. Very nice. I had ruby red trout and my friend had short ribs. The meat was tender and the trout was very good. It was a lovely evening. Being with my dearest friend was the best part of the night. The place quickly filled up and the private room was full of women Doctors. I was glad to see so many people because it is in a area surrounded by office buildings. From Cherry Creek to here. Kind of strange. I hope they stay busy.

Horrible service- We simply wanted a couple of glasses of wine for happy hour. We were sat at a table that apparently was already reserved (she pointed us our table instead of taking us to it). We were kicked out by the guests shortly after. We had to go back in and find the hostess and she pointed out a table for us again. It took 15 minutes for a server to arrive. She was saying rude things to us, I think she was trying to be sarcastic. Tip: Don't try and be sarcastic before you have recovered the guest! The wind ended up causing my wine to spill all over me. We had to try and find some napkins with little success but my friends eventually brought me some. Another 10 minutes later our waitress came by. I had to tell her what happened. She said "Darn mother nature" and walked away. Do I need to say more?

The Chinook Tavern is located in a very business like area which is a little odd for an upscale place like this. It's definitely not your cozy little hideaway. I grew up in Germany and the restaurant is owned and managed by two German brothers. I don't consider their creations German cooking though. If so it is definitely adapted to this part of the Atlantic Ocean. Their website tells you about the extensive training of the chef. That doesn't mean you have to like everything on the menu but I'd suggest that he puts a little more thought into his creations than someone just hired out of school. It also explains why a Wiener Schnitzel on their menu costs a stiff $26. My personal favorite is the duck confit pizza which is also much more affordable. It is very tasty and filling. I love that the deserts are being presented to you on a tray before you order. That's classy plus you know what you are getting yourself into. The ambience is a very unique style of modern with traditional elements like lots of wood. The bar and the patio are nice hangout places. They certainly made the best out of being in the first floor of a commercial office building. Some reviewers have complained about the service and I'd have to disagree. Everyone from the manager to the waiters has always been treating me very nicely. I look at this as a two way conversation similar to being on an airplane. Whatever you put out there is what's coming back to you. I hardly ever get bad service, that's because I do my part as well. Let's remember that we as patrons are dealing with people and not objects :) Long story short: I'll be back.

I've been in twice now. The first was the week they opened, and I must say I was impressed with the decor. There was no sign yet so it was a bit hard to find off the bar/street entrance. Second time we used the garage entrance which truly is a better way to enter the place. Having never been to the location in Cherry Creek I was very excited to finally see them open. We tried the calamari, which was very nice and enjoyed some of the Paulaner's on tap. Watched pizzas and liver and duck arrive next to us which looked great as well. Can honestly say we have yet to get to the main dishes as we stopped in the second time to try the mussels. Was not disappointed! The French onion soup was fabulous and the chicken mac and cheese very tasty. Both times we were in it seemed the staff was still workign out some quirks, give them a couple of months and I think they will be the spot to visit in the tech center1

I came to Chinook to attend a group business dinner, and was fairly impressed. The decor is quite pleasant, with lots of exposed wood beams as well as a wood floor. There are large punches of bright color throughout, and some rather eclectic knicky-knacks that are equally colorful. The dangling light fixtures add a nice touch of sparkling whimsy. Our dinner meeting was conducted in one of the private rooms, which was well-insulated and quiet. The service throughout dinner was unobtrusive and efficient. One of the waiters cracked some corny and lighthearted jokes, and since I'm a sucker for corn, he had me laughing. I was a little disappointed that they didn't make much of an effort to refill wine glasses throughout the dinner, but perhaps that arrangement had been pre-arranged by our hosts. Darn. Since it was a business dinner, we didn't have access to the full menu, and were only given a selection of entrees from which to choose (the salad and dessert were selected in advance). I chose the Ruby Trout while my husband opted for the Jaeger Schnitzel. The salad was a grilled romaine, which was complemented nicely by the drizzle of tangy dressing. The trout was nicely prepared, as was the schnitzel. If you're not a big fan of creamy sauces, the schnitzel may not be the best option for you. It was fairly drowning in the sauce, but if you shovel it aside to get to the meat, you can at least control your calorie consumption a little bit. I was disappointed by the dessert - a macerated berry mixture in a ramekin topped with creme fraiche. It was like eating jam. Increasing the number of whole berries would've helped. I'm glad I now know about Chinook, and would actually like to return to explore the full menu.

Sadly this restaurant is not worth the stop. Appetizers were ok but the entres were mediocre at best. Shrimp was overcooked - for $38?! Everything needed salt not that crowded yet we hardly ever saw the waiter, who in the end tried to overcharge us for our drinks. We pointed out the error and they took it off but did not apologize. Average to below-average food. Below average service. Above average prices. About the only decent thing to write about is the architecture. Drive a little further and enjoy a better meal with better service.

On 14 Dec 2012, my office had our Holiday Party at Chinook Tavern. Although we scheduled the rooms two months in advance (16 Oct), we had several issues as this establishment, making it to the worst party we have had in the history of our organization - and making me (the office POC for the party) extremely embarrassed that I ever picked this place (even though all mishaps were out of my control). We are an AF organization that puts a lot of time into planning our annual party - but we were of no priority or concern to the restaurant. Here is a list of all the things that went wrong: 1) Two days before the party (12 Dec) I went in to pay the event coordinator we were working with for the food. While there I found out that they took away one of the rooms we had rented and booked another party in it. Obviously this upset me (since now 52 people were squished in a room that held 40 comfortably). They never gave me any heads up that they had rebooked the 2nd room and when I complained to the event coordinator (Clemens) he told me that he had originally sad we could have both rooms IF they were AVAILABLE. That is a flat-out lie. I also have the contract showing we had two rooms. It said nothing about them having to be available. They were obviously available when I booked them back in October. 2) I had paid for 52 people and had given Clemens their menu choices. When I got there, we found name tents with the food choices for 46 people. So at the last minute we were scrambling through the list to figure out who they didn't make tags for. Not a HUGE deal - just another example of their lazy quality of work. 3) In addition to that, they only had enough seats set for 50 people (even though I had paid for 52). So last minute we scrambled around to find enough room to place the last 2 people. 4) When I initially looked at the room, there is a big screen TV in it. I was told that it would be no problem to bring in a video to play during lunch. Well that Wednesday I was told I would have to bring in an IPOD for our Christmas music (which I had already made several CDs for) and a laptop to play the movie. Again, not a huge deal - just wish they were honest about it in the first place. Would have saved me a lot of work. And just to NOTE -the people working there don't know how to use that equipment so it took 20 awkward minutes to get the movie started. AND Clemens was NEVER around to help. (Although he'll tell you, we'll take care of this, or that - just be aware you'll have to do everything yourself). 5) The food was scheduled to be served at 12:45, and wasn't severed until 1:45 (an HOUR late). Needless to say, it was an embarrassment and my coworkers were extremely irritated. But at least it was warm. The party next to us got cold food (I know this because there was a line of people complaining about several issues - all parties were unhappy from what I could tell). 6) One of the choices on the menu was a grilled chicken salad. NO ONE'S salad had chicken on it. 7) They had brought us in a small personal bar - but the bartender was there less than half of the time. So, we had to go out to the main bar to purchase several drinks. When we had done that, we found out they were actually cheaper at the regular bar - they were upcharging us in the room for drinks. 8) Everytime the music went off or was turned up too loud, etc- you had to hunt down someone in the restaurant to help. They would say "I'll get right on turning down the music" and never would. All in all, the customer service was TERRIBLE (not from the servers but from management and the events coordinator). The events coordinator is lazy and scatter minded. I wouldn't trust him to plan any event. We have done many holiday party events at several places and have never had such a disaster occur. We will not be going back and just want to warn those that are planning any kind of large party event to look elsewhere. This place doesn't have a clue what they are doing. As we were leaving, I talked to the owner about all the issues we had and how disappointed I was, and his response was "you should shut up and just be happy. It's Christmas." I said "well, I would have been happy if I got the service I paid for, but now I'll just be happy to get out of here and never come back" and he said "good riddance!" Wow. So my entire group left the party early and went to a happy hour at a much better location down the street (Jing) where service was great! Also (just to note) the owners, events planner and head chef at Chinook are all are related. So they won't do anything about your complaints. If you use this place, I hope you have better luck- and I'm sorry (in advance). Looking forward to seeing this place go out of business one day soon so they can put something worth eating at in that location.

Rather unique, urban/cozy atmosphere. No other place like it in metro Denver. Off the chart service, best we've had in years. The menu leans European and has some great offerings. A little heavy on the salt would be my only complaint. We will be back. Great place.

I have been here a few times. The atmosphere is fantastic. Its a nice place for lunch meetings as the place is spacious and not very loud. I really appreciate the spacing of the tables as you don't feel like you are sharing your meal with the people next to you. The food is tasty. I generally order the German dishes and have not been disappointed. The Rote Grutze is yummy. The only down side is the staff is not quite top notch, but they are very worthy of 4 stars. I have never had bad service, but I have been to numerous restaurants that are a step above. A little more polish on the staff and this place would get 5 stars from me.

Walking to the light rail from comfort dental, after the awesome Sugarland concert, I stumbled upon this little diddy. It was around 10:15 when we stepped in, and took a seat at a booth, just to grab some drinks. The waitress we had was one of the most friendly people I've met. She had great suggestions for beers she thought we would like, and didn't rush us at all. The weird part was, shortly after we stepped in here, the manager was denying people entry at the door. Many people were trying to get in because the concert had just ended. The decor of the place, while super cute, seemed a bit snooty looking for a bar... which brings up the question... Is this a bar? Upon entering it seemed to be nothing but a bar, since that takes up half of the allotted space. However, there is a somewhat hidden dining room so it maybe more of a restaurant. After all, the name of this place is Chinook Tavern! Since when do Taverns close at 11:00? Either way, the manager was turning people away at 10:30, and those with me and I ended up feeling rushed to leave, and in fact ended up being the last ones there. When returning home, I checked the website to see what the hours were (considering this visit was on a hopping Friday night), and the hours posted are VERY unclear. Pretty much there is no closing time? They just start dinner at five and that's it? I think it would be in the best interest of the business to post its hours on the door, or to stay open later on a Friday night when comfort dental is a hop and a skip away. They seriously have the potential to be earning a lot more money, and making a lot more regulars. I may or may not come back here.

My husband and I tried this place for restaurant week, and we were very pleased. The prices on the regular menu are a little steep, but the food is very good. We are interested in their fondue/racklette room, and will definitely make a return visit just to try it out.

This is a really good tech center happy hour choice. The happy hour food is all pretty good and the atmosphere is cool. I had called ahead because there was a large group of us and they actually reserved a portion of the lounge for us with couches and tables. This is pretty rare for a bar to do and I was pleased. Another plus is that they serve their Moscow Mules in copper, which I think makes all the difference, but could just make me look cooler. Lots of professionals after work in here, good vibe for us who are getting to be older but still just as fun as we were in our 20's.

During Denver Restaurant Week, we wanted to order signature drinks after we were seated at a dining table. After we asked for the signature cocktail menu, the waiter did not offer to bring one and just said they could make anything. So, I tried to see the drink menu on their website on my iPhone. When we tried to order a few signature drinks, our first THREE drinks were out! This was at 6:30pm on Saturday. Now I know why the waiter did not offer to bring the menu. The waiter asked if we wanted him to bring bread. It sounded like if we really want bread or not. I thought a restaurant would bring bread without questioning patrons. He brought two small rolls in a BIG basket for us. Maybe he should have served it on our bread plate, instead of bringing in a basket. Food was decent. The service was below average. I wish that food and service would be much better to meet with their upscale image.

Like a lot of the reviews say great food horrible service. I went here on my lunch break the other day and I thought since it was after 2pm we would be able to get in and out within 1 hour. Clearly I was wrong. I understand it takes time to prepare a great meal however all we ordered was Calamari, French Onion Soup, and the Blackened Chicken Sandwich. I was a server for over 6 years and I know it shouldn't take an hour to receive these items unless the server forgot to ring something in. I'm not 100% sure that's what happened but that would make the most sense since the kitchen was most likely not busy. Our server also never brought us appetizer plates for our bread or calamari so we had to ask another server that was passing by. Based on the ambiance and pricing at this restaurant I was expecting a little above average service to match the food that is being served. There are so many other great options in this area don't waste your time and leave disappointed like me and obviously many others that work around here.

Chinook tavern is excellent. For Lunch, Happy Hour, Dinner, special sporting and other events. Music etc. I have attended all of these type of occasions at Chinook and am looking forward to my first Oktoberfest there. As well as the John Fox Radio show every Friday before the game. Or this Wednesday September 4th, before the First game of the 2013 season. But it all starts with great food and friendly service. The appetizers and the beer are first rate. these are some of the best appetizers in all of Denver and worth a Trip for happy hour. Or come for a romantic Dinner or Dinner with friends. The Food is excellent. You can tell that Markus the executive chef and co-owner had extensive training in Europe and has created his own flair on some traditional European and American Dishes and Appetizers. His brother Clemens manages the front of the House and each time I have been n there he is walking around, making sure everyone is enjoying themselves. I have over time tried most of the appetizers and Menu items and have never been disappointed. the food has been consistently good. The quality of the Food, the friendly atmosphere at the bar or the comfortable dining in the dining room you must try this place you will not be disappointed.

Worst service I've ever experienced. We went for happy hour and got there before the rush however the short bar manager with dark hair was rude and had an attitude because I asked to move a chair 5 ft from the side of the bar to the midsection of the bar. Then when we attempted to order a drink from the bartender with long long white blonde hair who already flashed a dirty look because I wasn't ready to order couldn't even tell me the different beers on draft. Her explanation was oh a pilsner, a couple dark beers and a stout. Really? And more attitude when I asked for the beer menu. But it didn't end there. They served me a warm martini in a plastic cup. Disgusting! Their only saving grave was a bartender with a smile that knew exactly how to clean up their mess. I will never be going back there and will be letting the group that I was there for about the horrible experience, all 1000+ people. I don't think this place will be open too much longer so don't bother. It's also very cold and industrial looking area. So many other places that serve great food and drinks, decent prices and nice atmosphere I'd rather spend my time and money.

I was unsure about trying this restaurant because it is new to the area and I haven't heard much about it. I'm glad I only tried their happy hour because the food was disappointing. I'm sorry but if you can't cook a pizza or mussels then I will NEVER come back! My husband sent back an uncooked pizza & i decided that it wasn't worth the problem to send back the mussels that were uncooked and the sauce was tasteless - very scary! The service was good but it's clear that other people have the same opinion because the place is empty!

Not impressed with this place at all. We were looking forward to trying Chinook for somewhere new and fun. The customer service was horrible, they seemed to be "out of" or "didn't carry" many things, we had to keep asking for basic things like to have our water refreshed or to have another cocktail. The food was so so, but for the price, it's definitely not wort it. I would never go back here again.

This restaurant is inside the building I work in, so it's very easy for me to get there. However, I don't go there very often. I've had some really great food there, but for the most part it's food that's too expensive and isn't worth the price. The ambience is cool, and I enjoy the artwork (the owner's wife paints it) but it's not one of my favorite places to go for lunch. I usually end up hitting one of the other places nearby.

First of all it's worth mentioning that the menu Chinook offered for 5280 was pretty impressive and they get a huge plus for that. This rating reflects the normal pricing. If the 5280 pricing was always in effect the rating would be a solid 4. Before we even ordered we ran into a little confusion, unfortunately, they offered an onion soup on the menu but when asked about it at the restaurant they refused to honor it and said it was a mistype on the website, the waitress did say we can order it of the regular menu if we wanted. (In my opinion, if it's on your menu and you offered it, if people ask you should honor it.) When it came to the food, the menu appeal is very high and the prices are not too high if each item were to be executed perfectly. Unfortunately, when it comes to execution the kitchen staff falls a little short. Once again, all items were good and some items (like the pork chop) were perfectly executed but almost every part of our meal had some things that just weren't quite right. The corn was way too sweet and didn't have any corn flavor; the pork chop plate looked bland and not very presentable; the veal schnitzel was a tad overcooked; the desert was overwhelmingly sour with nothing to counter it; the pomme frittes were pretty average. Due to all these little inconsistencies in addition to some similar mistakes on our previous visit, i came to the decision to drop a star from my rating, when i go to a restaurant of this quality i expect better.

Went to Chinook on Easter for brunch. Food was excellent, atmosphere was upscale but still comfortable and casual enough. Food service was a bit slow but we were in no hurry. We had made a reservation for 7 people and they were ready for us right away. Overall great experience.

My wife and I had our rehearsal dinner at The Chinook Tavern in early May of 2012 and we couldn't have been happier. Clemens, the owner, and his team were extremely helpful in the planning process and were willing to accommodate any and all of our requests and work within our budget. In short, the food was great, the private dining accomodations were great, the patio was great and ownership was great. We would highly recommend The Chinook Tavern for a rehearsal dinner party with less than 60 guests.

We paid $170 for dinner which consisted of thinly pounded beef and chicken and some veggies we cooked ourselves on a George foreman style grill and poured melted cheese over and dipped in sauce plus bread and veggies dipped in cheese. The atmosphere was stunning but next time we'll try the restaurant where they cook the food.

Chinook Tavern in Greenwood Village looks and feels very different than it did in Cherry Creek. What it has lost in homeyness, it has made up for in spaciousness, light, and modernity. I can't imagine how they hope to fill the tables in this sprawling space. The menu seems to have more of a pan-European focus than I remember at the old location. You'll find pizzas and lasagna alongside the schnitzels here. Those schnitzels were always the draw, and that appears to still be the case. At lunch they're made with pork, and veal at dinner. I've tried only the pork versions, but both are delicious. The wiener schnitzel is crispy and very lemony. It's "light," if fried pork can be such a thing. You get two smallish cutlets paired with bratkartoffel (sauteed potatoes & onions) and some rather boring mixed vegetables. The jaeger schnitzel is the big winner for me. The two cutlets this time are sauteed, but not breaded, and topped with an amazing mushroom cream sauce. It's paired with those same boring veggies and some spaetzle, which aren't much on their own, but are a perfect foil for that mushroom sauce. There is a large selection of German beer at the ample bar, and it looks like a great place for a happy hour. Lunch is fairly reasonable, but prices on the dinner specialties look about 20% higher than I would expect. Hopefully that will change with time. This is an amazing space and the first great addition to the Greenwood Village restaurant scene in years. I can't wait to explore the rest of the menu.

We also enjoyed Chinook when it was in Cherry Creek and very excited they are now in our "hood". Seven of us dined last Friday night and from that experience we have 2 tips: if you have a large group, ask in advance for a round table (better for conversations than a long narrow table). And ask for a more seasoned waiter. They have an abundance of both - but apparently you have to ask for them. That is exactly what the hostess said when we asked to be moved. We dropped some serious jack for dinner and drinks and our waiter was very young and very inexperienced. The timing was WAY off. At these prices we expect a certain level of service (anyone would). We'll be back, but now we know how the game is played: do your homework and call ahead about the kinds of tables Chinook has and then "ask" for the kind of table best for a group and ask for the kind of service you expect.

Arrived at 7:45 PM after wandering around the concrete and glass emptiness of Fiddler's Green. Entered the restaurant through the bar. The door to the street was propped open by a 2' x3' placard that announced "Chinook Tavern." The circular glass front door did not scream "Enter here..." so we risked entry through the bar. And an attractive bar it was, except for the 50" HDTV with a baseball game blaring out, "The pitcher has the ball, now he scratches..." Not exactly the ambience we expected. So we wandered around, looking lost and hopeless, hoping some kind soul would volunteer to help the lost couple find their way tot the hostess stand. After we arrived there we were advised that the parking garage was the best entrance. Once enlightened on access we were asked to wait a few minutes for a table. So we looked at their very nice wine rack and the contents thereof. We were quickly seated by a very accommodating hostess with a sweet smile and perky personality. By 8:05 no waiter had visited. We waited with our elbows on a table that rocked back and forth to the background bossa nova. We watched the staff scurrying about bringing plates and checks always accompanied by an "I am sorry you had to wait." It has been open 4-weeks and looks to be I'll-equipped to handle a full house, which it was. The website emphasizes "European cuisine." Schnitzel (Germany), pizza and two pasta dishes (Italy) make it European, I guess. The rest of the menu seemed to be "Colorado local" to me. Prices are reasonable for the wine and food. The wine list could expand its pinot noir grape selection. We had an Antinori, a Tuscan blend of Cabernet sauvignon, merlot, sangiovese, and shiraz for $52. Lovely. Nice decor with high ceilings wood and class diminishes the corporate park feel. It has multiple rooms, but the glass and ceiling height do not allow for any hint of claustrophobia. It is open, light, clean and comfortable. Hardwood floors obviate the need for carpet fresheners. We were seated in the geriatric ward with big tables of smiling faces and hair colors ranging from white to overloaded brown dye to hot pink. Interesting. The appetizers were PEI mussels (European?) with a curry (European?) cream sauce that over-powered the sweet small bites of mollusks. The grilled heart of Romaine lettuce with bacon and a creamy caesar dressing was superb. The grilling imparted a sweetness tot he Romaine that made it special. The main courses were an agnolotti with a tomato sauce. The pasta had too much gluten and was chewy, tough and disagreeable. The sauce of tomatoes was sour and unappetizing. My disch of Snake River Pork Duo, loin and pork belly, was wonderful. You've got to try it. At the Cherry Creek location we loved the dessert made with creme anglaise and cherries and boysenberries so we ordered one. The creme was not creamy. It had a gritty texture and the berry base did not have the consistency of the Cherry Creek location. Chinook Tavern is a pretty place, located amid corporate buildings. The decor. layout and art work make it visually appealing. The staff is well-intentioned but perhaps not trained well enough or of not a sufficient number to handle the traffic. We will return. Next time with the kids to get the opinions of the real food critics.

I attended a pre-opening event just over a week ago and their grand opening lunch today. The food is fantastic and the atmosphere is amazing. Today I has the Pork Jaeger Schnitzel and is was delicious. Last week I tasted the brisket and it melted in my mouth along with several other dishes. All the artwork in the restaurant was done byt the owner and it a fun and vibrant. This place is a great addition to the Denver Tech Center.

Third time is NOT the charm. This place has gone way downhill. I don't know how much the ridiculously bad service affected the mediocre food. We sat for 20 minutes and no one came by. Finally, one of us went to the hostess and reported this. Shawn came by and said he was on the job! We got water and then nothing. After a long wait, he said "sorry about the delay but I wanted you to have fresh bread"--a lie since the bread was cold. Food arrived and Shawn never checked: never a "How's the food? Need more wine? Let me pour that wine for you? Looks like you need more water." We never saw him. At great length, he brought cold apple strudel--poorly prepared or had it been sitting long enough to cool off before Shawn finally figured it out? Then the bill: we had been overcharged $24. "Oops," said Shawn, "I'll fix it." Shawn made a mediocre, overpriced place into a truly lousy experience.

Love this place! We've been here a bunch of times with customers and it is a great place to entertain. The food is amazing, the service is great, and the environment is a lot of fun. We've had several large parties in the Zermatt room. I'd never had raclette and fondue before and they are a total treat! Chef Markus obviously has a passion for great food and his bread and desserts/pastries are amazing, and his brother, Clemens is a ton of fun and excellent host.

A new favorite for lunch near our office, we're looking forward to trying it out at dinner. Ambiance and decor are great, staff is friendly and quite adept, and you get the feeling that the owners are always on hand and interested. On our second visit, I noticed the duck confit pizza just as I was about to order something else. When I asked about it and our server's eyes lit up, I knew I had to try it. I'm so glad I did. What a combination--perfect crust, housin sauce, duck, pears, Brie, and just the right amount of a slightly spicy sauce! Yum! I had trouble stopping when I was full. Great place for a business lunch--nice and open.

It is the harderst review ever for me. Usually for Denver Restaurant Week we like to go to a place we've never been before. But this time we decided to go to Chinook because we never been to new location. I loved the place when they were in Cherry Creek. Now we came to this industrial cold place. First, it was hard to find tha parking. We parked outside but later overheard a waiter telling other patrons that there is a parking behing the building. It is not very well marked. We also could not figure out where the entrance is so we entered thru the bar. I am glad our reservation was for 4:30. The place was empty and I had a chance to tour it. Love the art! The place lost the ambience of the old location but art makes it more palable. Service was mediocre. At first, the waitress said the bread is warming up. We got our appetizers and then bread arrived. It was not warm but it was definetly fresh and tasty. On top or regular 5280 menu we ordered our favorite mushroom strudel. Unless my memory is failg me it used to taste different. Almond Crusted Shrimp cakes, all two of them, looked funny on 10" plate. They probably made smaller portions for smaller price. But they would look great on a smaller plate. Here is the worst part of the dinner. We picked to come early so there would be no crowd and chef would not be rushed to cook our food. Was I wrong! My daughter and I had to send back our salmon because it was undercooked. Also, we were not impressed with dessert. They became very modern but it is not as inviting as it was at Cherry Creek. We will probably come here again but not during 5280 and not very soon. It was not worth the money.

Let's start with the positives. Food is pretty good, not off the charts, but decent. The decor is pretty chic and it's spacious inside, so you get lots of privacy. And that's it. Service is HORRIBLE. Stunningly so. Waited about 20 minutes for someone to come to our table (restaurant was fairly empty, even during restaurant week). No bread was offered or served during our long wait. Apps arrived. Still no wine. 4 minutes later entrees arrived and then no fewer than 4 people tried to take our apps (which we had just started). "are you done?" Same thing happened with entrees. "Are you done, finished, can I clear that?" So rude. Are you finished with that?" Ugh. After we finished our entrees, aout 20 minutes till we saw our waitress who looked generally annoyed to have to ask about dessert. Dessert was ok, bill came "Do you want to pay that now because I have to go do a few other things." Seriously. You get better service in IHOP. Chinook, if you are going to charge what you do for your food, step it up and get some trained wait staff. I will never be back. Plenty of other places to eat with better food and classier service.

Terrible evening at Chinook. "Attitude" in the bar was such that we left before even eating. Cold, industrial atmosphere and mostly empty spaces made us wonder what all the attitude was about. When I asked about the size of a half liter beer glass I was told with a snarl that it was "a half liter!" We used to love this place in Cherry Creek North with it's warmth and great service. That restaurant no longer exists. Not kidding - don't go!

Anyone who's visited the old in Cherry Creek and now the long-awaited new Chinook Tavern can't but compare on the two main points of ambiance and cuisine. For the former, I felt I walked into a corporate dining room had the sterility of such not been betrayed by the multi-headed "Bierzapfsaeule" that once seemed to dominate the old bar but is now dwarfed by the massive new "Theke". The massive expanse of plate glass allows plenty of light into the dining, bar and boardroom-like conference rooms with little to lend "Gemuetlichkeit" that once endeared the old cellar to diners. The new fondue-/raclette-only Zermatt room intrigues with its array of special-purpose dual Euro-kera ceramic cooktop tables, begging the question of how Herr Georg and co. would accommodate a large in-season party of 8 or more. But again, only the telltale modest array of export-only beer steins belie the owners' Teutonic heritage. But the cool and somewhat sterile digs didn't seem to be keeping away the denizens at the bar where nary an empty stool was to be had...not that they would have noticed the aesthetics. Food. We savored the raclette for two. Having bought one but not having dusted it off at home for almost a decade, we decided to leave that one lie and try the profi version. Mo, our waiter, provided faultless service of a variety of veggies, cheese, shrimp, Wuerstchen with an intriguing garnishment ranging from an improbable tsatsiki and lingonberry mix to a couple others that I liked but have since forgotten. They worked quite well on the roll-your-own mini-pan roasted raclette arrangements. Another neat trick was Mo's use of a rosemary twig to spread the hot olive oil on the roaster tray. Once the twig had been sauteed and crisped in the process, she stripped the aromatic needle-like leaves into a small dish for us to use as we wished. It added a delightful touch and I'm going to remember it for home use. I've chosen to say only "A-OK" on the overall rating only by comparison with menu choices at the old Chinook Tavern. I like Wurst with sweet bavarian mustard and sweet/sour Kartoffelsalat, OK?? But the Wurstplatter is no more. Leaving behind this and other tried and true standbys lessens the draw for me. All in all, besides the Zermatt Room's mandates there's little to say, "Ja, vee haf old country Essen" other than (Austrian) Schnitzel with Spaetzle and sweet red cabbage. It wasn't until the dessert when the ubiquitous low German/Danish raspberry rote gruetze reared its little creme anglais-topped head that another sign of the continent appeared, bringing back recollections of labskaus, Strammer Max and Gaenzefett mit Speck. Mors mors and more of the old, bitte. Doesn't anyone do Maultasche in der Bruehe? As for drinks, the sumptuous wine list offers all one might want but for me is irrelevant. Raclette for me is essentially "meat and potatoes" so I ordered a Paulaner Oktoberfest from the hydra-headed zapfer behind the bar. I could have had a Paulaner Hefeweizen, a Paulaner Lenten Molipoliwoodor or Paulaner lager or Paulaner...you get the idea. There were a couple of other non-Bavarians there, but a paltry few in this land of vaunted craft brews. It makes me wonder who holds the deed on the place. Bottom line: the new Chinook Tavern has left downtown but has gone uptown. I have no truck with the quality of what's offered. Just soften the hard-edged decor, deaden the noise in the Zermatt room and bring back some of the old world things that worked before and are not to be found elsewhere in Cow City.

Went with my family for brunch. The food was good, but the service was sub-par. I asked the waitress quite clearly if the omelette had any meat in it, and she answered clearly that the omelette had no meat (she didn't just say, "No", she actually said, "no meat.") The omelette comes back with ham, of course. I'm sure it was delicious, because the waffles that I ended up eating were great, but it was an example of bad customer service. Also, the high ceiling means that the acoustics were terrible. We couldn't hear each other talk, even though it was easy to listen to people talking across the restaurant. It was an ok place with good food, but it needs atmosphere and better service.

We had family into town and went to the new Chinook Tavern in DTC because of our experiences at the old Cherry Creek location. While the restaurant is beautiful inside (though located in an office park), we were extremely disappointed with our experience. The food was okay but the service was terrible. At first, we couldn't get the bartender to even wait on us in the bar while we waited, even though it wasn't very crowded. Then our server had a resentful attitude from the start. She refused to answer questions about the menu, and then failed to bring us our bottle of wine even after we asked about it two separate times. It took us an hour to even get our appetizers served, and another hour for our entree. The waitress seemed to get surly when we even asked when we might expect our entree. I can understand a restaurant getting backed up, or busy, though it didn't seem that crazy crowded to us. But as a former server myself, the server's attitude makes a big difference. She seemed to act as though the whole thing was our fault somehow, and resented even being asked about a drink she'd forgotten. In the end, it was an extremely disappointing experience overall, and I was embarrassed that we'd selected that restaurant for our out-of-town guests. We'll never go there again, or recommend it to anyone.

The decor is very nice with interesting bold art work through out the restaurant. Our meal was good, quick to the table with fresh ingredients. The restaurant was quiet but they needed more then the one sever they had on staff. Overall a pleasant experience and I am sure we will return.

I see a ton of potential in this place, but it did seem very disjointed and lacking focus. The parking is awkward (garage across the street) and not free (which is bizzare in this area of town). When you walk into Chinook, the restaurant portion can only be accessed by walking quite a distance through the bar portion (complete with sideways stares from bartenders); it seems like 2 different restaurants. This is highlighted by the fact that there is no cocktail menu or beer list available for tables in the dining room (they just tell you that *anything* is available), but a full wine list is provided at the table (wierd!). The service is nothing special, but prompt. She took our order & brought stuff out, but at a place like this I desire a bit more! Our Rosé was yummy & fairly priced. The fried Brie has potential to be great, but the bread was slightly over-charred for my taste. The mushroom ravioli is good, but nothing special (sauce is a bit too thick and plain). The suggested dessert (can't recall the name) was great, but the dessert tray is such an antiquated concept which takes this place down a couple notches in class. Some of the decor is breathtaking (under bar lights, white globe lights, wood interior), but the various art displays around the restaurant (assorted paper mâche chickens) are a bit confusing and distracting from the amazing architecture. I would maybe return for happy hour (the bar area is very pretty) and maybe to try the fondue just for kicks, but I'm not going to seek this place out as a new favorite. Perhaps management will tap into its potential someday soon!

The restaurant is beautifully appointed, charming wait staff, and interesting menu. But the food is less than any of us expected. There was five in our party and we ordered a variety from soup and salad to full meals. I ordered a wasabi crusted halibut that was overcooked, dry, and tasteless. The mashed potatoes it was served on was runny. Not worth the price.

Visited Chinook on a Saturday night as part of a moderately sized group. The decor/ambiance is wonderful. A little "artsy" but not over-the-top. The service was fair. The restaurant was not crowded but there were a couple other similar sized groups. But it was slow, and a bit careless. Had to ask for drink refills multiple times. We had a few under-aged members of the group and the waiter never took their drink order until we told him they need drinks too. The food was good but not great. I had the Weiner schnitzel ala Holstein. It was tender, and cooked right but seemed a little lacking in flavor. The portions are large though. Others in the group tried the pizza, beef tenderloin and chicken and all seemed to have the same impression... Good but not great. A little on the pricey side too. I would not make a special trip to return but I wouldn't turn down an invite either.

The Chinook, nestled in the ground floor of an office building, has two parts, both a traditional restaurant, and a raclette / fondue room. We chose the latter, and had a very tasty raclette dinner. The ingredients provided were all good (we supplemented with some beef and chicken, without which it would have been a bit sparse. The wine list was varied but fairly conventional. The service was friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be back to try one of the fondue setups, all three of which sounded good, as well as the "normal" restaurant. I don't see it becoming a regular stop, but it's definitely worth a try.

We were a group of 8 in the fondue room. We managed to enjoy ourselves, mainly by laughing about the terrible service and mediocre food. After trying for 10 minutes to get someone to take a drink order, our waitress passed by and kept walking as she told my wife she didn't have time to help us right now. Most entertaining was the technical problems with our fondue table. After various people crawled under the table while we were sitting at it... They brought out an orange 50 foot extension cord, complete with spots of missing covering. I have pictures. Of course nobody apologized, and we were presented with a full bill. We laughed some more, paid it, and left 20% tip out of pity. Recommend you avoid the fondue room!

This restaurant is stunning! Absolutely beautiful! My sister and I split the lunch special (tortellini with a side salad) and a bowl of the white asparagus soup. YUMMMY!!! Great presentation, they split it for us and good portions. We were glad we split it. Great location right off the light rail, nice parking garage, friendly staff. This place is great! Looking forward to checking out the live music on Sundays.

I really liked this place! We came here for a work lunch a while ago and I was really pleased. I'm not sure what I expected, but it certainly exceeded my expectations. The interior of the restaurant is a little more modern than I expected it to be, and they have a fabulous outdoor patio. The entrance is a little wacky in that if you come in from the street and not the garage, you have to walk through half the restaurant to get to the hostess stand. Service was great even though we had a bigger group and all of our entrees came out in a reasonable amount of time. Everyone loved their dishes - soups, salads, burgers, etc. I didn't try any of the German food though I wish I had. I guess I'll just have to go back!

Had coffee here first one morning. It was adequate. Service was extremely friendly. Also had lunch later in the day. I was surprised (shocked?) to see a few German dishes on the menu! I had the jagerschnitzel which was excellent, very tasty mushroom gravy. It came with a size of spaetzle which was out of this world: beautifully crispy, just done to perfection. Service at lunch was also very friendly and attentive.
