Chili Verde Plate!!! When I planned our weekend getaway to Grand Junction, I have to be honest. Las Marias Mexican Restaurant was on my mind. I visited GJ last year in September and we visited this restaurant. We visited this time and I ordered the Chili Verde meal. I asked for some extra tortillas because that is what heaven is like to me. In Utah a lot of the Mexican restaurants I visit cover everything in cheese and call it a day. This place serves Chili Verde that is so good, I may have to consider retiring in Grand Junction. I don't have the writing skill or vocabulary to articulate the wonderful taste. Until we meet again Las Marias, i'll be thinking about your wonderful Chili Verde!

In a town like Grand Junction which is full of options for Mexican food, if you want to open a family style restaurant, you had better BRING. IT. Sorry to say.... It was not brought. Mojitos made with sugary sweet mix and no fresh mint. Enchiladas were cold in the middle and blazing hot on the edges, a sure sign of being reheated in a microwave. And there is no way that sauce didn't come out of a can. Do yourself a favor and go to El Tapatio on North & 12th. Service was adequate. Bathrooms and dining areas seemed clean.

I am from a town where Mexican food is pretty prevalent, so I am picky about it. I haven't been impressed with the Mexican food in GJ until I found this place. First of all, let me say the ambiance is a bit lacking. The decor is kind of tacky and out of date. If the owners could update this, I think the place would look quite nice. The service was prompt and courteous despite the restaurant being quite busy. Our drink orders were taken immediately, and they brought us three brimming baskets of tortilla chips along with some tasty salsa for six people. My mom and I ordered margs, and they were quite cheap but not very good. This is my only true complaint about the place. I'm used to the fresh lime margaritas some of the other Mexican establishments and Edgewater (yum, best marg in town!) serve, and this tasted like a super-sweet bottled mix. I will probably get a Dos Equis next time. The food, however, was awesome! I got shrimp fajitas, and they brought me out a HUGE plate full of shrimp, onions and peppers. They were extremely tasty, and I had enough for three more meals! I did ask for corn tortillas and they brought me flour, but that isn't a huge deal. My husband ordered three tacos (carne asada and pork), and they were also filling and tasty. They do not skimp on the fillings! My mom (who is EXTREMELY picky about Mexican food) got a tamale and green chile and said both were great. The green chile is very hot but delicious. My dad really enjoyed the red chile on his enchiladas (not as spicy), and my in-laws thought their dishes were good, too. The best part is the fact that this yummy food was super cheap! My fajitas were $13 but came with enough for four meals! The other dishes were equally as affordable. I would highly recommend this place despite the rough interior. That might turn off some people, but try the food; you will not be disappointed!

Stopped in on Cinco de Mayo and ordered the Super Burrito with a marg. Who doesn't have specials for the one Mexican holiday American's celebrate all over the country? I thought that was very odd. To find a Mexican joint that doesn't have deals set for that special day where I come from would be like winning the lottery. Anyways, The decor and atmosphere were pretty typical. It was quite clean as far as Mexican restaurants go. The service and drinks were both good. The food was different from what I am used to, but I enjoyed it. I wasn't a fan of the shrimp, but the chicken was tasty. The salsa was very fresh and had some good kick to it. That was probably my favorite part. All-in-all, I enjoyed my visit. I will give another place a try next time I am looking for Mexican in GJ, but I wouldn't be opposed to a return trip.

Seriously yummy Mexican food. Easily the best meal during my recent business trip to Grand Junction. I opted for a burrito with shredded beef & chicken. I wasn't sure how the 2 meat idea would work, but it ended up being 1/2 & 1/2 - one end beef and the other chicken. Both meats were delicious. And it came with cheese, lettuce, tomato, green chili, sour cream, and guac. Way more than I could finish, but my tastebuds wanted to keep eating. I also had a midori margarita which was quite good. Service was timely and friendly. Maria herself dropped by to see how our table was doing as well.

Hard to see the sign for this restaurant because it's covered by trees. The chips are fresh and the salsa is perfectly spicy. I had a lunch plate with beef enchiladas and green chile ($7.50). They brought out some extra homemade flour tortillas. Great food, great price. Yum!! If I lives in Grand Junction, I'd be here all the time!

I always get the chicken à la plancha, which is the healthiest dish I can find on the menu. Servings are generous and the service is generally very good. The restaurant is in a transitional place, so the decor is nondescript and a little lacking. I would hope that when the restaurant makes its move to Colorado Avenue, the atmosphere is improved upon. The menu has a wide range of choices. The menu is affordable.

Awesome happy hour!! Even their regular margarita and draft beer prices are great... But the best thing about this place is the food. It's the best Mexican food in town. Their fajitas are huge and we always come home full and with leftovers. The service is really good and the manager walks around and visits tables regularly to make sure everything is good. We love it!!

Great food, and very reasonable prices. Love to come in here and get the taco plate with authentic carne asada. The chips and salsa served with every visit are also awesome. This is me and my wife's favorite place to eat and is even better now that it located downtown.

Friendly staff and delicious food. We were greeted and seated immediately after walking in the door. The waitress (Myra) was prompt to refill drinks. Tables were quickly cleared and cleaned when guests left. The food is similar to Fiesta Guadalajara or El Tapitios. Very good, would recommend.

In Grand Junction craving good Mexican food. The lady at the front desk of the hotel recommended this place. Large menu, and ordered a combination with a taco, enchilada, and choice of tamale or chili relleno. Went with the relleno based on the waitress's suggestion. Relleno was disappointing, green chili was kinda funky, and the taco was tossed unappetizingly on the plate smack in the middle of the refries. Service was ok, but food was nothing to write home about. I'd try a different place before going back.

So I think I could officially be known as a mexican food connoisseur! I was born in California raised on great mexican food there, lived in Az, Tx, and spent some time in western Mexico... not a huge fan of Tx-Mex but I tolerate it... much prefer authentic mexican. Which brings me to Las Marias! Oh happy day! my husband and I ate there together and he hates mexican food! (crazy huh, I know) anyway he had breakfast and loved it... everything was cooked right for once, he said. I had the enchiladas, chicken with green sauce, cheese & onions, spinach. everything so good, beans and rice also. The red (traditional) is perfect! their green sauce is really good but different than other green sauces i've had. (if your not sure have them bring you a sample) I tried the tamatillo (sp) it's very different, tastes great, but not what I would expect for that kind of sauce. I have a gluten allergy and they make all their sauces with corn starch! that is huge for me! Plus Maria is very familiar with what does and doesn't have gluten!!!

Living in Phoenix, AZ I have had my share of Mexican cuisine. When I come home to Colorado, I usually have lowered expectations for Mexican food. Las Marias is the first Mexican food that I have found to be authentic and tasty. We ordered the nachos which were really good. I wish we could get nachos like this in Phoenix. I had the evening special of 3 enchiladas, rice and beans. I requested half red half green salsa and found both to be very flavorful.

My favorite place to eat! I try to go once a week. I love the cheese and onion enchiladas with green chili. When ordering they ask if you want mild red sauce or spicy green. The green isn't that spicy to where it's unbearable. It has a great flavor with a touch of spice.

We stopped by to check out this place and were disappointed. The music was too loud and there were no 'sound deadeners' (fabrics, soft chairs, etc). The food was okay. We didn't order drinks. It was tough to talk on our date because of the loudness of the atmosphere. We won't be back.

Great Mexican. We are not from GJ but went here after a day of biking. Great happy hour margs and great salsa. Had the enchiladas one spinich, one shredded beef and one chicken with spicy green salsa and whole beans and rice. Very good! Also had the guacamole with our margs before dinner. Excellent. Prices fair service good. Atmosphere nothing special but this is not a fancy place. I suggest checking it out.

Friendly staff. Good food. The portions are huge. My chimichanga had so much shredded chicken breast stuffed in it. I like the new downtown location. Lots of space and nice windows to look out.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
