Ever since my wee days in Wee Wersey there have been fond memories of salty sensations tingling my taste buds. The question that alludes my super sensei is: why is it so hard to find a salt bagel west of the Mississippi? Picture yourself in my shoes, pants, and a dirty Dr. Dre t-shirt with the cover of "The Chronic" and a stain from that time you spilled mustard that refuses to come out. It's small and you're probably the only one who notices it (like a bad hair day), but mildly bothersome. You're rolling down the 93 going slightly under the speed limit with 25 extra minutes to blow since you left Boulder far too early. Not only are you donning a fantastic shirt that everyone loves, but you also are far from rushed and you've got a tummy that cries "feed me". Enter Big Daddy Bagels...BIG DADDY Bagels. A name like that deserves some capitalization. I don't consider it terribly original since I've seen it prefixed with just about every food ever (Big Daddy [bagels, pizza, burgers, et. al.]) but it does sound like something Dr. Dre would subscribe to. And it's all about WWDDD? What Would Dr. Dre Do? Now, please excuse the vulgarity for a second. This is going to hurt you more than it's going to hurt me. "Shut the fuck up and open up your fucking taste buds. I'm going to toast a mother fucking salt bagel -- the kind that shoots major lasers into an orbital orgasm that explodes all over your face. And you know what? I'm going to serve that with a smile." Those were the words of the dude behind the counter (abbreviated and intensified). With a nose ring, flat black square shaped spectacles, and a skippity-do-dah attitude, he was happy as a bubble bath to cook up my salt bagel and lather it in a white creamy texture and the tears of Zeus. He gave me that bagel and at that point, the memories of that stain on my t-shirt had long faded away. My only thought was: how soon will it be 'til I can insert that (salty synonym) into my mouth? And there I was, at the counter ready to pay when I spot on the sign -- "FUCKING Smoothies!!!!!11111one1one!!!" Yes, please. Si, por favor. Oui, s'il vous plaît. And it's only $2.99; that's a great deal! Go to Jamba Juice or the Whole Foods juice bar and you'll pay seven bones for grass out on a cow farm covered in feces that all the hippie gaper yup-fucks in Boulder go ape-shit over. No, thank you, I'll get my smoothie from Big Daddy's. Not only will you not have soggy intestines, but you can start contributing to your 401k. Dr. Dre's words, not mine. So if you're mocked by the recession of 3005 and you've got a salivating hole in your face that just needs something in it besides a phallic object, then head on down to Big Daddy Bagels in Golden. Nothing phallic about this place, nope not at all. ¿WWDDD?

I love the bagels, they're chewy with that kind of hard outside shell. Cranberry Oatmeal is my favorite. Before a 5k or 10k race, I'll grab one and eat 1/2 of it without anything on it about 1.5 hours prior to the race. Egg and cheese on an everything bagel hits the spot every time! The pizza, yum. I rarely meet a pizza I don't like as they're slightly different every where you go, right? Here, the crust is very good, not too thick, not too thin, and the cheese must have enough fat in it to make it a tiny bit greasy... which makes it more delicious! I like the Mocha - it's pretty good (not SB exactly, but still decent).

The bagels and bagel sandwiches are much better than their pizza. Good deal for two slices and a drink, $5.75 plus $.25 for toppings. The pizza is only ok. The folks that work there are friendly and efficient.

I tried the boulderite in a spinach wrap. Hummus, avocado, sprouts tomoatoes and cucumbers. Sooo good. We also orders a sesame bagel with plain cream cheese an egg, cheese, and sausage bagel and strawberry banana and Apple smoothie. Soooo good. Staff is okay they need to smile more and be more friendly.

I'll start out by saying that I've been coming to this place since they opened however many years ago that was. I come here because the food is basically good, and I live in the neighborhood across the highway, making it very convenient. Those are the two reasons why I come here. Oh, and my order every time is easy enough for them to get basically right. The real problem here, is the customer service. I've worked in customer service my whole life, I understand how easy it is to act friendly to a customer, even if you're having a rough day. Every time I go into this restaurant I feel like I'm either greeted by empty glares, or nothing at all. Today it took 5 minutes for someone to even come to the counter and acknowledge my existence, let alone take my order. I've ordered smoothies here, where instead of bringing them to my table when they're ready, they yell or wave at me to get my attention to come get the smoothies from them. Seriously. Both of those things have actually happened. The employees here are lazy, uninterested, and, frankly, could be replaced by dogs with better customer service than them. If the owner of this restaurant saw the way they act around customers, I would hope he or she would be appalled. That said, the food is actually very good though.

I want to give this place another chance, but unfortunately wasn't too impressed with the service on my visit. No one smiled or seemed to know what my order was. My coffee was definitely over priced or they gave me the wrong size. I never heard my bagel order get called but the lady behind the counter picks a bagel up asking, "who ordered this?" and it was mine. For a total of $6 plus a tip, I wish I would have received more. Good (super tiny) coffee and the Nagel and cream cheese were yummy, so I'll come back another time with my husband!

Anyone who has every spoken to me knows that my only regret in moving out west has been the serious lake of a decent bagel sandwich. We have breakfast burritos coming out our ears, but no one can put some breakfast food on a bagel and make it edible? What's with that? I recently moved in pretty close to Big Daddy Bagels, and I obviously made a good choice in location. Finally - someone west of the Mississippi who can make a bagel! They are the perfect consistency. But even more important than that, they understand that when making an egg sandwich, the egg to cheese to bacon ratio is important, and they totally get it right. The cool vibe and friendly staff is an excellent bonus!

Since having Rosenberg's next door, I now have really high standards and this bagel is okay. Their fillings are really good though. The 14er: sprouts, ham, sun-dried tomato spread and spicy Mexican cream cheese was a great combination. And my hubby loves their green olive cream cheese. But their bagels are okay, not much to them. They are nice and crispy on the outside, but not much bagel in the the inside. A good spot to go before hiking toward the Golden or Boulder area.

Food is good if they ever get your order right, which in my case they never did. How hard is it to remember a bagel and a sandwich that is listed on the menu. Put my order in 3 times and they kept coming back with the wrong thing each time.

Cool spot for breakfast. There are quite a few sandwich options and unique bagels you may have never seen (Parmesan?) I really liked the 14er sandwich on everything; ham, mex sauce, pepper spread, and alfalfa sprouts, it was pretty great. The bagels aren't anything like NJ/NY bagels, but they were alright. They also have alot of coffee options, more so than most bagel shops I've been to....AND you can order pizza after 11AM!

This is more like a 3.5 stars review for TAKE OUT. Was here with Hubs and C. Time was for Lunch @ 12:20hrs. There are many items such as Bagels, Sandwiches and Pizza to choose from the menu. They offer Daily Specials on the hand-written board. Waited about 10 to 12 minutes or so for our order to be ready. Do take note, if you opt to order a Pizza, this will take awhile since they Bake The Pizza To Order. This establishment was kept clean and there are a couple of tables and seats if you intend to have your meals dining in. If I am not mistaken, Hubs opt for a Roast Beef "Wrap" Sandwich ($5.95). Inside the "Wrap", Hubs opt for lettuce, tomatoes, red onions and pickles. While I opt for a Portabello Mushroom Melted Bagel ($6.50). My order comes with Marinated Portabello Mushroom, SunDried Tomato Spread, Feta Cheese and Melted Provolone. Both Hubs and I like our order. C opt for a Small Cheese Pizza ($10). The total cost for the Lunch was $24.20 with tax. Do not mind returning to this Big Daddy Bagels, Golden Location when needed. @145/2012

The quality of a good coffee shop can easily be accessed by its drip coffee. Oh Big Daddy, come to Mama with that Snickerdoodle coffee. I have been in here every flippin' day since I moved to Golden. I haven't even been able to try a "fancy" coffee yet because the drip is so good I can't get enough of it. The price for Organic, Locally sourced coffee is GREAT!! They also have a coffee club (if you are going to frequent this joint, do yourself a favor and join) and you get free coffee on Mondays. FREE! The bagels are awesome! Never hard, never too thick...juuuuust right. The real prize here, though, is the staff. Super friendly and nice. Also, I have been coming in here and working for several hours each day and no one has ever questioned it at all...they let me do my thing in peace and I really appreciate that. They ALSO have great music playing all the time. This is a hidden gem in Golden and I LOVE that it's just up the street from me. I haven't tried the pizza yet, but if the bagels are any indication of "how they do"...I know I am in for a treat.

Not thrilled with this bagel shop. I love cream cheese, yet they put so much on there, it could have covered two bagels with plenty of the stuff. I didn't think the bagels or cream cheese were especially noteworthy. I ordered a chai and it was made so dang hot that I couldn't even try to sip on it half an hour later. We had to hold the cup by the top/bottom because it was still too hot even with one sleeve over it. I was thinking about giving this place two stars, but the staff is very friendly and the atmosphere of the shop is pleasant. I just don't think we'll return.

Convenient, low-key bagel joint, and the bagels are way better than Einsteins. Some people are put off by the inconsistent service, but the staff is doing their best. It's probably hard keeping track of all those orders when you're high.

Um....well this place has promise but I think the employees were having an off day today. The menu is full of options and the bagels are quite tasty. HOwever, make sure you remember your order because you will have to repeat it and they may still forget what you ordered. I will be returning and hopefully upping the stars on this place because I really want to like this place...just having a hard time right now.

Big Daddy has made me a very jaded bagel person. I went elsewhere for a bagel recently, and it was just so disappointing. We live about a block from Big Daddy, and it is a quick and delicious breakfast or lunch. Their bagels have a great texture, with a crunchy exterior and a chewy interior. I really like their salt and "Italiano" (everything) bagels. A bagel with cream cheese will run around $2.5 and they have a nice drink selection. The only thing I wish they'd have more of is cream cheese flavors. They have a nice overall variety but none really do it for me, even though I often try to convince myself otherwise. So, lately I've stuck with plain, which is tried and true. You can buy their cream cheese is to-go containers, and you can get packs of day-old bagels for about $.50 per bagel, which is a great deal, especially if you're bringing snacks for a work meeting. They recently expanded to do more of their sandwich and pizza options, which will hopefully make them a more obvious lunch option.

Every now and then I will drive all the way from Wash Park out to the Big Daddy Bagels in Golden for breakfast. They have super delicious, big, dough-y bagels and the best cream cheese (which I believe they make in house). The cream cheese is piled on which is a huge plus for me. My fav is the Sundried Tomato Bagel with plain cream cheese, so yummy!

Pretty standard bagel/sandwich place. I have been to other bagel places who get pretty impatient when you are indecisive but they were really friendly and helpful here. I also liked the fact that they allowed me to have my pup on the patio when I ate. Dog friendly is always a plus. I didnt try the coffee, only a bagel and cream cheese. I will be going back again to try out more of their items.

Best bagels around!!!! Sorry Panera Bread Company:( The texture is just perfect... chewy on the inside and crunchy on the outside...just like a GREAT bagel should be. Tim Horton's back East could take a lesson from BIG Daddy's on how to make a GREAT bagel. I think $6 for just a sandwich is to much, no chips, no drinks, no more sandwichs:( The staff was very nice. Wish there was one closer, but will make the drive cause we love them so much.

I was driving home from Boulder a couple of days ago when all of a sudden the stark realization that I was starving dawned upon me. Having passed a building marked by a "pizza" sign everyday for the last 2 years, I decided to finally give big daddy's a try. I bought 2 slices of pizza - one cheese and one with bacon. Here is a breakdown of their pizza: The crust, which is the star of the show in any good pizza, was too chewy and floppy - clearly indicating an overworked doe. Also, the pizza slices didn't have enough tomato sauce on them, which yielded a relatively flavorless pizza. However, the only part I did agree with on the pizza was the proper cheese to bread ratio - the best way to ruin a pizza is to put too much cheese or toppings on it. Overall, the pizza wasn't horrible, but I wouldn't call it good by any means - just alright. I might be back to Big Daddy's again at some point, but will probably just opt for a bagel next time.

My whole family was in town visiting my brother and we needed a good breakfast/lunch before hike 2 of the day! We ordered three bagels with the gourmet cream cheeses. Loved them! (low-fat strawberry on a blueberry bagel, green olive on a marbled bagel and sun-dried tomato on an everything bagel) We also ordered one of the new pizzas - it was SO GOOD! I got an Oregon Chai to go - I thought it was a really good Chai (way better than starbucks!). Lastly, all of the employees were really friendly - that's quite refreshing for a morning visit. I would definitely recommend this place and return next time i'm visiting.

Good little bagel joint. Bagels are a bit on the small side, but good for the price. They also don't over-cream-cheese the bagels like other places (I'm looking at you, Moe's). They have a ton of cream cheese flavors, and they don't have stupid cutesy names for them like other places (I'm looking at you, Einstein's with your "shmears").

What happened to this place? I've gotten bagels here, but it had been awhile. The bagels used to be really good. Went there for lunch for the first time, and first: the place was filthy. You know it's bad when my 9 year old spontaneously comments on how dirty it is. We ordered pizza by the slice and it took over 20 minutes. Isn't the point of by the slice is that it's quicker? They told us it took so long because the pizza "broke when they took it out of the oven." What? We also got a bagel and it was stale and hard as a rock. I know it was lunchtime, but come on. The employees stayed in the back the whole time--doing god knows what. They should have been wiping down something to get rid of the filth. I'm giving this place two stars instead of one, only because the bagels USED to be really good.

I found this place because I was on a bagel kick a few weeks ago! I definitely like their bagels! WAY better then Einstein's. Probably the best bagel in the Denver area. If I find one better I will update the review! :) (the garlic ones are my favorite)

The bagels themselves are the best I've found in the area but the rest of the experiece left something to be desired. The lox cream cheese had literally one spec of lox in it but that didn't keep the price down. The staff was not exactly friendly either. Despite these shortcomings the bagels remain moist and delicious.

Have to downgrade my review a bit. The bagels are still great but the quality of the service (and it seems to be an ever rotating crew of employees) is quite inconsistent, and generally not very good. Some of them are sooooooooo slow, or can't remember a thing you said. Some give you way too much cream cheese, some give you way too little. One guy didn't bother to ask for clarification when my husband asked for lox when he meant lox spread. Who gets just lox on a bagel? Every once in a while I have a good customer service experience, and it's enough to keep me coming back, but usually when I do I say to myself, "why do I bother coming here again?"

Great bagels! The best I've had in Colorado for sure. Not a 5 star because "as good as it gets" is in NYC;) We stopped here last Friday morning before heading up to the mountains. I was starving and got a salt bagel with butter and raspberry jam. And I had a half of an italiano with cream cheese and tomato. DELICIOUS! Bagels were fresh and crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside. I also appreciated that they have organic coffee. It was a little weaker than I like but still good. The hubby had a breakfast sandwich with egg and cheese and really liked it as well. We spent close to $20 but got breakfast and lunch to take on the slopes. Just a bagel with cream cheese and coffee is about $3.75. We will make this a regular stop on our way to the mountains for sure!

Tried it for the first time about a month ago... (since i work at an italian joint myself)... it's always nice to venture out and get something a little different. Just got a sandwich to-go, but it was amazing... I believe it was the Buffalo chicken sandwich... MUST TRY!!!! Cant wait to get another day off to venture back that way.

I checked this place out for the first time today and I'll definitely be going back again in the future. Friendly staff, though not very helpful or patient when you're indecisive. There'll be a line if you're there early, but fear not - it goes fast. My favorite is the green chile bagel, toasted with plain cream cheese. They've got good smoothies, but the muffins tend to be bland.

Good sandwich, if you are willing to wait... Went in on 3/1/13, in the evening, asked if they had pizza by the slice, which they do not in the evening, OK, so I ordered a sandwich instead to save time, since I really didn't have 20 mins to wait for a whole pie. Some twenty-something brunette took my order, asked if I wanted the sandwich hot, I said yes, and she promptly disappears in the back- to heat up my sandwich, perhaps? After about 10 minutes, a male employee appears and tells me that my pizza will be ready soon, so I tell him I didn't order a pizza, and he apologizes, then proceeds to make my sandwich... don't know where the original girl went, probably out backing smoking weed or something. She did finally come out of the back, and of course did not offer an apology or any explanation. All in all, I was probably there over 20 minutes, I should have just ordered a pizza, it wouldn't have taken as long! The guy that ended up making my sandwich was fine, very apologetic, but come on!!! How hard is it to make a sandwich??!! The sandwich was OK, not anything special, and honestly I was so disgusted with the service that I didn't even really feel like eating it. Oh, and to top things off, the ONLY other customer in there was a gentleman who was waiting for a replacement pizza since the employees burned his first one... Management needs to do some serious housecleaning (and I don't mean the floors) I expect this kind of service at McDonald's, and even their service far exceeds Big Daddy Bagels on the night I visited, yikes!! I will not be back :(

Stopped in here one morning on the way to Boulder. I don't stop in Golden very often, I also don't eat bagels very often. But found this place to be a great bagel destination. I had a blueberry with butter and my boyfriend got a bagel breakfast sandwich. We gobbled them down and went on with our day, thinking, "well that was a good, nice random breakfast stop for us".

Employees are rude and have a terrible atittude. Food is average, but not worth the experience

I had the southwest bagel, definitely a fan. Good price, fresh bagels. Perfect stop on the way to the slopes!

I thought the folks behind the counter were pleasant and efficient and, more importantly, my bagel was fresh, chewy and yummy. Plus - there was a green chile bagel that I absolutely have to try soon.

Great sandwiches and the staff is really nice. Try the Santa Fe bagel sandwich-it rocks.

Rude owner. Mediocre food. SLOW service. This place is lame. If you go put your tail between your legs, don't make eye contact and beg.
