There's not a huge variety of food at the buffet, but what they serve is very good. All two dozen or so times I've eaten here, the buffet has been freshly stocked. Waitstaff is always happy to see and to serve you. It's already pretty cheap, but if you bring in a coupon, you're down in the $8 per person range. Can't beat that for as good as the food is. They also let you reuse the coupon as much as you want. Always finish off your meal with some rice pudding and fruit!

How did I not know about this place? Had the buffet there tonight with the family. We were all surprised and quite pleased. The cost of the buffet is a little more than some others but well worth it with fresh and flavorful food. The spinach sag was clearly fresh spinach, made me wonder what the others are using, maybe frozen spinach? We all liked the Tandoori chicken. The eggplant curry was delicious and a little spicy. The shrimp Aloo (uh oh, I am forgetting names and spelling) was really yummy. My son said the lamb curry was really good. We all agreed that the rice pudding was creamy and delicious. We will be back!

Favorite place in all of Fort Collins. GO TO THE LUNCH BUFFET! This place doesn't look like much from the outside but MAN, the food the AWESOME. I'm usually not a fan of vegetarian dishes or even eggplant -- but the eggplant curry is a must. If you still don't want vegetarian -- their tandoori chicken is perfect -- moist and seasoned well. Their naan is the best I've had. Service is quick and attentive -- no waiting around for my drink to be refilled or plates to be taken away. Prices are great, too. This is my go to place to take friends who are visiting from out of state for a nice lunch.

Food remains great. Value remains great. Sadly now ruined by a VERY RUDE server girl. There were three of us for lunch, we were doing the buffet so wanted easy in and out, not a booth.' She REFUSED to allow us a table since she claimed they were all reserved for parties of six. Well, none of them were used and it is little surprise that the restaurant was not very busy. She is so unpleasant. There used to be a concept that "the customer is always right":. Then it was "treat the customer as though he is right". Not this girl. She generated a bad review by her idiocy.

I think I wrote a review last time I was in Fort Collins, but what I wrote, this time I was a bit disappointed. The food taste was okay, but quite frequently the food at the buffet ran out and we had to wait for more to be prepared. There were not that many people in the restaurant so I don't quite understand how they managed their kitchen staff...it was way too slow.

Yummy and nice twist to regular North Indian food. I enjoyed the Nepali flair and flavors. Great menu choices. The daal was a bit too bland for me. Garlic naan, samosas and palak paneer was amazing.

A most positive experience. I usually do not like buffets, but everything on this one was fresh and home made. As a vegetarian, I really appreciated all the vegetarian options and nice selection of fresh fruit... Rated Best Ethnic Buffet in Fort Collins.

Yum!! I can't stop thinking of this place. Can't wait to go back. The staff were great too!!

This place has the friendliest wait staff ever! There is always this older gentleman who takes care of us when we get here. Even though he is the only one (or one of the few waiters) available, he is really good at checking up on us and making sure we don't run out of water. When we paid, we wanted to use a coupon for our meal. He gave us the coupon discount on our check, but told us we could keep the coupon itself so we can use it next time. Such a sweetheart! I enjoy the food, but I feel like I only enjoy certain things at the AYCE bar. I get their naan, rice, chicken ticka masala, shrimp aloo, and vegetable samosa. There is a lot of other things to try, but I'm not a huge fan. Maybe it's just my preference. My favorite thing here though is their rice pudding. I love the hint of cinnamon. I would love to take home a container to save for a hot day.

Delicious meal. Went for the buffet. Chicken Masala rocks! Had a couple bones, which means it is the real deal rather than processed.

  • Amanda D.

Homemade hot sauce is essentially creamy tomato salsa.... not very spicy afteralll Saag is on a less creamy side...right down my alley The downside is...warm white wine, none all of the dishes are ready until 1 hour after they open. All I can say is: get your stuff together for the house guests.

Buffet food was OK but overpriced at $15 (with tax) for dinner. Dessert section was a joke. Inattentive staff to say the least.

  • Patrick B.

Great tasting food, for the items that were available. Best sag and baingan bharta I've ever had. Waitress was checked out inattentive. They have a full menu and a buffet but it seemed when we tried to order off the menu, the only things available were the items already on the buffet. The two things we really wanted to try were not available. Would not recommend.

As with any Indian eatery, you can expect a lunch buffet here... unfortunately, the grub was no different than a typical "Indian Buffet." I didn't find anything particularly "Nepalese" here, but maybe that's both my ignorance and the restaurant's desire to cater to American palates playing in. It might be more advantageous if you are searching for some of their more traditional dishes to err on the side of ordering an actual meal. It seems that the buffet is pretty mainstream, in general. Staff is nice, and the decor is attractive. A good choice for ethnic grub if you are craving that in lieu of Fort Collins pub grub.

This review applies to take-out only, as I have not dined there (or even been there, myself). Inconsistent food, large portion sizes, good value. Food was QUITE good the first time we ordered, but much less so the second time. Hoping to try the buffet before I give up on them completely.

  • Adrianne R.

Don't go here for dinner. We thought $9.95 was a good price. There wasn't much selection and of what curries were there, they all tasted the same. Nearly everything was spicy too. The eggplant curry and samosa were.... pretty good. But the buffet was hardly worth $9.95. We figured it was a fair buffet price. When we went to ring up it was $15 a plate! Immediate regret followed. The staff is kind, but not very attentive. We kept running out of water trying to drown the spice. For me, the spice was mild. Maybe ordering off the menu is better, but I won't be going back.

Believe the great reviews. (Can't believe I've been going here for 10 years.) The buffet is a consistently good option, quick and easy. Their chai tea on a cold winter day is heartwarming. The owners (Dawa and Thubten) have always treated me graciously and I continue to support them.

  • Juanita L.

Very disappointing. We had the lunch Buffett which disappointing. The Buffett was pretty much empty and was told food was on the way out but it never came out. We are was there waiting for the other dishes but hardly anything came out. We were served water when first came in but never offered anything else to drink. The restaurant was clean but the lack of food was disappointing. Sorry but we will not return.

The best Nepali food place I have ever had! I especially love their vegetable samosas and the naan bread. My parents insist on eating here every time they come to visit. The buffet is wonderful and reasonably priced! Also there are always coupons we get in the mail that are totally reusable!

  • Kandi A.

Killer Indian/Nepalese cuisine. This place is authentic and the staff is sweet and accommodating. Come here and have the buffet because why would you order anything else?! Their samosa's will rock your world.

    (5)
  • Ann G.

First time having Nepalese food and enjoyed it very much. We went there for the lunch buffet. Reasonable priced and variety of dishes that can be enjoyed by meat eaters or vegetarian. Most stuff is curry based with a kick of spice.

Arrived as they were closing after lunch. Still accommodated us. Very friendly staff. Stew, stuffed naan, samosas, and Him chicken curry. Delicious. Very pleased.

If you are in the mood for a great Indian/Tibetan buffet, look no further. This place is my guilty pleasure! I could eat their samosas and naan all day every day. Of course, their curries are wonderful and very flavorful. I have only ordered the buffet, so I can't say anything about the menu items. Well, except that that they all looked great and has larger than normal portions. Try this place out! Great place to eat lunch while your clothes are being washed in the laundromat next door.

Love their eggplant curry! It's has nursed MANY a hangover. I absolutely adore who I believe is the owner. He's always there and always so sweet.

  • Jenn F.

My favorite Indian food by far! The buffet is killer and is always stocked. Their Naan is amazing, as well as the saag paneer. The owner is always around, filling up waters and saying hello and is super sweet!

  • Corinna P.

I freaking love this place! I think I eat here twice a week on average, and their buffet is awesome. Shrimp aloo is freaking bomb, along with their rice pudding and naan. I wasn't a fan of curry dishes until I tried their chicken curry dish and shrimp aloo. So so so good.

Went for dinner and it wasn't horrible like the previous reviewer noted...My date loves the place and he goes back again and again...

  • Staci S.

I eat at Mt. Everest cafe regularly, as in just about every other week (in the winter probably even more). The food is sooo tasty and I have in probably close to 100 visits there has only maybe been one time that the buffet was sparse when I got there, but was restocked shortly. I can't eat a lot of food in one sitting, so buffet is not usually my thing, but the best thing about these guys is that you can ask for buffet to go and they will give you a huge to go box, a soup dish and bake you a fresh sheet of naan. I take home enough food, paying a single buffet price, to feed two of us dinner AND have lunches left over for us both!

Got to-go and had one of the best meals I can remember. Service was great and the portions were huge.

Yelp led me here and the reviews are on point. Buffet had a decent selection for lunch, although I was hoping for more vegetarian/vegan selections. The curried vegetables, Dahl soup, and rice pudding were excellent. The staff was friendly and greeted me right away. The place was clean and welcoming.

I was really looking forward to trying this place because the reviews were largely glowing. Sadly, this is one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to! The buffet during peak dinner hours was sad and the manager strongly discouraged us from ordering anything from the menu. He said it would take a "very long time" even though the restaurant was less than half full and the buffet wasn't being replenished. Against our better judgment, we forged ahead and tried the buffet in hopes that it would be freshened up soon. It was scarcely stocked with any dishes at all and the few pieces of dried out chicken that were left were flavorless and inedible. The scant offerings appeared to have been sitting out since lunch. Any naan that was brought out was promptly devoured by the tables seated closest to the buffet. To top things off, I found a hair wrapped around a piece of tandoori chicken -- SO gross! The atmosphere is also not as nice as most reviewers say it is. The seats were ripped up, floors were dirty and the place looked like it hadn't had a good cleaning in years. Don't get me wrong, I love a good dive -- but this place is trying to disguise itself as a $15 a plate joint and it's just not right.

Dropped by for the lunch buffet, will definitely be back again! Delicious dahl soup, eggplant curry, and some of the best naan I've ever had. Plus fresh strawberries with delectable rice pudding to top it off. Kudos! Will be bringing friends and family here in the future.

Good service but bland, mediocre food. We definitely won't be eating here again.

I've been a Mount Everest customer since they opened. I love their Sherpa Stew, Momos, Chili, and lentil soup. The buffet is great as well. The food is similar to Indian but lighter, with hints of middle eastern. Mt Everest is run by a nice family and I encourage you to to give their food a try.

A good place to try. The Indian spices are mild enough for all to enjoy. The staff is friendly, and the prices are very reasonable.

True Nepali food that is to die for. Wonderful staff and an excellent experience. The Dal Baht is mind blowing.

  • Nicole R.

I ate here for the first time tonight and I was impressed. There was a nice selection of curries which weren't too spicy but there were lots of yummy sauces to kick up the heat. The eggplant curry was delicious scooped up with the fresh naan. Everything looked and tasted fresh. Service was friendly. We pulled up a coupon on our phone and got $2 off our meal each.

I LOVE going to this place. I always leave FULL and HAPPY. I've only ever done the buffet because I just can't get away from it! I love being able to try many different options. I really like the family who owns the place, even though some of them don't speak English very well. There is an older gentleman who usually seats me when I go to Mt. Everest, and he always seems to remember me. He says, "Buffet and Chai Tea?"... haha LOVE IT. I will ALWAYS return to Mt. Everest!

  • Jason L.

This is one of the best Indian buffets I've ever been to. The curry chicken, samosas, meaty tandori chicken, hot chewy naan, everything is just awesome! The highlight is the curried eggplant. Its unbelievable. I would comeback if that's all they offered.

  • Linnea A.

It's hard to find a good, quality buffet in Fort Collins. Mount Everest makes the cut, though. From the samosas, to curry, to rice pudding, I've never eaten a bad meal here. The staff is friendly and attentive. I would recommend eating here at more peak meal times, like the lunch or dinner hours, because the food seems to be fresher and better.

    (5)
  • Zhu Y.

The buffet was very fresh. It includes the lamb, chicken, shrimp soup vegetables and yogurt. They were very delicious. The atmosphere was clean. The service was friendly. I would come back.

Despite a public negative review from a local food blogger, actually because of it, I was anxious to return to one of my favorites. Just had to see if it could have possibly gone so far downhill since my last visit only a few months ago to warrant being described as "slop" in the newpaper. With the review fresh on my mind, Mt Everest popped into my head for last minute dinner plans on February 14. I'm not a fan of Valentine's Day (actually forbid overpriced flowers and cards) and we always say we are going to stay home and cook. As often happens after working all day, we end up going out to a local, non-fancy type place. Although busy, the restaurant is large with plenty of booths, we were able to be seated upon arrival This was my first time for dinner in all the years of coming for the lunch buffet. I had to peek at the dishes ordered off the menu brought to one couple's table, everything looked and smelled delicious and they seemed quite content. Not usually a buffet person but with this type of cuisine there are several dishes I like to enjoy. As usual, one side of the bar is filled with vegetarian offerings and the other has a shrimp & potato entree , tandoori chicken and other meat dishes. Naan, saag, samosas, lentil soup, vegetable korma, spring salad mix, yogurt dressing, etc The SUPER STARS: Eggplant Curry- creamy, spicy, heavenly! Our TOP Favorite! Homemade Hot Sauce- not too spicy but good flavor- dip samosas or naan with saag They stepped it up for the Feb. 14 "holiday" with chocolate covered strawberries, a chewy fried banana (very interesting texture) and the usual Khir (homemade rice pudding). Happy to see the place was packed! Lunch 3/19/2012: Returned sola for lunch before writing this review. Plenty of options on the buffet- onion pakora, several chicken dishes, vegetable curry and of course the reason that I return- the eggplant curry. About 10 tables were full at 12:45pm and several turned over while I was there. Seemed to be some other happy customers! Overheard several comments from different tables: "This dahl soup is so good...wow it's really good" "This is my new favorite restaurant" "Got some homemade hot sauce for us to try...not very spicy but so good" TIPS: It's NOT fast food, if something runs out, they will replace it- After it's prepared Closed mid-afternoon With only water, the bill is just under $10- about the same as some sandwich combo I've been a fan since they opened and will continue to return. One person's 5 star experience is another person's 2 star meal. My opinion of the food here is based on 5 years of returning (not just 2 visits) and the high rating does favor my drool-worthy opinion of the super star items mentioned above. Decide for yourself.

I'm visiting Fort Collins and so glad we decided to try Mt. Everest for the dinner buffet. Thanks for the advice Yelpers! Since we avoid meat and dairy, we wanted to make sure there were options beyond salad before we signed up. The sweet gentleman who seated us took us over to the buffet bar and pointed out what was for us - dahl soup, vegetable korma, rice, steamed broccoli. He even asked the kitchen to make 3 additional dishes special for us without dairy. Delicious eggplant curry, naan and spinach among them. All dishes boast rich flavors and none are too spicy. They also have a fruit and dessert part to the buffet. Happy to support a nice family-owned business that serves tasty food.

Oh man this place is so good. I usually don't really like buffet style food but Mt Everest definitely gets my vote regardless. Staff are great, food is affordable, GO THERE!

It was the end of a long day. I was hungry and trying to decide choices for take-out. The wait staff ensured I had a nice place to sit with a glass of cool water. Friendly customers made recommendations and staff gave options making it easy to choose. Not only did they package my selections carefully, they brought out fresh naan just from the oven. Oh yes. Earlier in the day, a local mentioned that the owners built a playground for a school yard in Nepal and that they were good people. These good people can also cook. The food is delicious and abundant enough for left overs. I'm a visitor to Fort Collins and I recommended this to you travelers and locals who haven't been to Mount Everest yet.

Fort Collins has a lot of restaurants, but Mt Everest Cafe is my favorite. They always have fresh curries, rice pudding, and nan! I love their buffet and I love how coupons are ubiquitous to find.

This was my first Indian food experience in Northern Colorado and I chose Mt. Everest based on Yelp reviews and was not disappointed. As others said it was very quiet (went on a Friday night) with only two other parties in the place. We skipped the buffet as it appeared a little depleted and ordered off the menu. I highly recommend the naan, I went with an order of cheese and one of onion, both were excellent. With 2 beers, 2 orders of naan and 2 entrees the bill was under $40. Very cool place with excellent food, I would definitely go back.

  • Karen H.

I went for the dinner buffet. The waitstaff were great, very friendly and accommodating. The vibe is a bit barren- it was isolated for a Saturday night and the lighting is dim, giving it an off feel. I remember booths but don't think they had any tables. The food is fine, I've had better. This is primarily an Indian restaurant. I recommend the meat dishes over the vegetable ones. Samosas and naan were good as well. Veggies could use a tad more spice.

  • Carla G.

Mount Everest is a buffet style restaurant. They have a nice selection of food. I was happy that nothing was over the top spicy. I was definitely full, but made room to try the dessert options. This restaurant was unique for me & seems like authentic food. The place was filled up so it must be a hit for others. I think the pictures posted well represent my experience. Definitely worth the drive to check out this place, I would come back.

I eat out a lot but I only ever write reviews if the restaurant is really good or really bad. Mt. Everest Cafe is really good!! Buffet selection is great and the food is really fresh and tasty. Great choice of meat and veggie dishes plus fresh fruit and salads and tasty deserts. Service is great. The place is tucked away a bit but it must have a good local reputation because it was busy when we ate here on a Wednesday night. One of the best North Indian buffets I've had and well priced too.

Best. Food. In. Foco. This food was not "Americanized" in the same way as most of the Asian restaurants in town. Hands down the best meal I've had since moving from SoCal several months ago.

  • Allison M.

I have eaten a lot of indian food and I LOVE this place. I guess they serve food from Tibet and Nepal. Not sure what is what in the buffet line, but I loved it all. New favorite place in town. The Eggplant curry is to die for. Oh, and unlimited naan. Can't get that at Star of India or Taj Majal. Oh, and it's sherpa owned and operated!

  • Ciara H.

Mount Everest is most definitely my favorite restaurant in Fort Collins. The eggplant curry, samosas, naan, and rice pudding are all things that I could eat every day. They are perfectly spiced, and so tasty. I have to say that I am surprised and disappointed by some of the negative reviews on here. I generally look on Yelp before trying a new restaurant, so I hope that negative comments don't discourage people from trying Mount Everest.

  • Bran H.

We've been going here for years. Their selection is good and tasty, just don't go near closing, it seemed that they don't really replenish the food then. I wouldn't say their food is top quality but certainly acceptable for a buffet. We've always enjoyed our dining experiences there.

    (3)
  • Tina p.

The buffet was so fresh! My meat loving family was totally satisfied with all the vegetable offerings. My 13 year old picky eater especially loved the samosas! We will definitely eat here again. The atmosphere was clean and bright, most tranquil. The service was very friendly as well. great parking for our huge truck too.

After reading the reviews, we went to see what it was like. We went around 1pm. There was no option given us other than the lunch buffet which while the food was good, was very limited. The service was good, until we tried to pay. 15 minutes before the waiter came and took the card. I was considering going next door to break some big bills so we could pay cash and leave. All things considered for an Indian food buffet I prefer Star of India.

Completely undercooked chicken kabob, soggy veggie momos, Luke warm but tasty chai...disappointed. Came with hopes high looking at the reviews.

Over this last summer, I was fortunate enough to go on a week-long rafting trip on the Rogue River in Oregon. OARS hired me as a freelance writer to create a short narrative essay about my first experience with white water rafting. We were in the middle of the Wild and Scenic part of the river, detached from the rest of the world. We were surrounded by black bears, towering evergreen trees, and the thrill of the river, all while leaving technology and the comforts of home behind. Yet, despite the lack of kitchen conveniences, we ate like royalty. This happened to be a culinary wilderness trip, and we ate dishes like ceviche, pan-seared filet mignon, and berry cobbler. It blew my mind to realize that it is very possible to enjoy gourmet cooking in the middle of the wilderness. While dining at Mount Everest Cafe here in Fort Collins, a Sherpa-owned and operated restaurant that features cuisine from Nepal and Tibet, I thought that maybe years of cooking experience on one of the most harsh and dangerous mountains on the face of the earth would yield similar skills - the ability to make food taste amazing no matter the environment. But after my first bite I realized that it was a lost hope, and discovered that it tasted more like campsite grub that you gratefully devour because you just survived a bucket-list expedition, and not necessarily a taste that you enjoy while dining in a college city. One afternoon I had a lunch meeting there with my business partners to hammer out the details of our upcoming marketing agency. We decided to go for the lunch buffet, just like everyone else there. I tried just about everything on the line, and was extremely disappointed. Everything was bland, greasy, mushy, and tasted like cafeteria food. The worst part was the tough chewy texture of the beef in the beef curry. The only saving grace was the eggplant curry - this dish was downright delicious with a slightly sweet and savory flavor, and a very mild spice. Everyone at the table agreed that this meal was a flop. I came back again for dinner. We ordered the chicken MoMo appetizer - These looked like familiar Chinese pot-stickers, but they were poorly made. The dough was thick and chewy, and even undercooked at the pinched edges that sealed the dumpling together. The chicken stuffing was greasy, with globs of yellow grease pouring out after the initial bite. I could only stomach one, and didn't want to continue with any more. I ordered the lamb korma, but they were out of lamb, and I had to chose beef korma instead. It was supposed to come with sides of rice and dahl, but only the soup made it to our table. The dahl had a chalky gritty texture, where the lentils had pretty much disintegrated. For a soup that is supposed to be heavily spiced, it was basically flavorless. The beef korma did have a good flavor, and I really enjoyed dipping my pieces of naan in the sauce, but the beef was horribly tough and stringy. Quite frankly, it's the worst beef I've chewed on in a very long time. It was no different than the incredibly tough chunks of beef in the beef curry dish I previously ate at the lunch buffet. After getting full on naan and korma sauce, and leaving a full dish of rubbery beef and oddly chewy dumplings, I left Mount Everest Cafe with a feeling of relief knowing that I'd never have to eat there again. After living a gourmet experience on the Rogue River, knowing that rustic wilderness is no excuse for bad cooking, I had hopes for Mount Everest Cafe's Nepalese and Indian cuisines. Sadly, we pretty much ended up eating cafeteria slop.

I wanted to try something new, so we headed over to Mt Everest on Friday. I had read reviews on Yelp beforehand and saw that several people complained that the buffet never gets refilled, so we were sure to get there early just in case. However, the owner seemed attentive the whole time we were there and would refill the dishes that got low. I really liked the food here - the variety and quality of the buffet seemed better to me than the one at Star of India. I loved the eggplant curry and the naan, and my husband enjoyed the rice pudding and dahl. The only reason that Mt Everest doesn't get five stars is because I'm a super big wimp and thought the food was just a tiny too spicy... I would have liked to eat more, but I was drinking too much water to sooth my tongue. Again though, I can't handle spice at all so if you like even just "mild" spice, you'll probably be fine. Also, the salad portion of the buffet was underwhelming (baby spinach and baby carrots). I'll definitely be back in the near future!

I have eaten the food at Mt. Everest Cafe twice now. Once for their lunch buffet and once for take out. I highly recommend it! The buffet had a lot of variety and was fresh. Their naan is great as well as samosa and chicken curry. I order chicken Momo for carry out. It was cooked perfectly (not undercooked with yellow grease coming out?) they made both a spicy and a regular sauce for me and both were great! The staff was very polite. One of my new favorites in town.

My wife discovered the place when it opened up several years ago and by far we come here more than any other restaurants. We love the food and ever since Mt Everest Cafe opened, we have been skipping the trek to Taj Mahal. Great family oriented place and great food and great owners. We usually get the buffets and have ordered the momos (dumplings) and sherpa stews off the menu...they are excellent! Definitely worth giving it a try. The buffet is to me Indian cuisine and the other dishes on the menu but not in the buffet are Nepalese...but keep in mind India is a massive sub-continent with many regional cuisines...so I am over simplifying here...e.g. just like saying Chinese food - but in reality there are many styles of Chinese cuisine - Szehuan, Cantonese, Hunan, etc...

I grew up eating very authentic Nepalese food from close family friends. This food is the most authentic, restaurant, Nepalese food I've had. I'm not a fan of spicy so I love that they have options of both. It's buffet style and thankfully they always keep the food stocked, hot, and ready. I have been multiple times and don't plan on stopping. Their customer service could improve (we always have to find them and ask for the check) but other than that the only complaint I have is that I get too full to move for a couple hours!

I've had bad experiences here as well as good ones. So I'm on the fence about this place. Depending what time of the day you come here they either have a wide selection of food or not very many things at all. The owner is a very nice gentleman and is very welcoming. The food is so good that its going to make me keep trying this place out. I think everyone should go here and try out the samosas...deliciousness.

Good food, highly recommend the mango lassi, made from homemade yogurt. Ah, yum! Guys who own the restaurant are so pleasant. Love eating here.

I highly recommend this to any vegetarian or anybody who likes food in general! The service is excellent, the food is delicious and I love the atmosphere as well. Get the buffet for dine in or get a take out box, either way your belly will thank you. They do a great job refilling your water (as a thirsty gal, I appreciate that!) and are always so friendly. One time I forgot my wallet and I was extremely embarrassed. The gentlemen who waited my table was very understanding and said I could return with payment later. I offered to leave him my cell phone so he would feel comfortable with me leaving without paying, but he refused. He just trusted me. I rushed back minutes later and thanked him profusely. Great place!

Let me qualify this. We arrived for a late dinner, and the restaurant was catering two weddings that evening, so both food and staff were stretched thin. The salad looked pretty decent with Romaine lettuce. The onion bahji was good. The shrimp dish looked good. The lamb curry was good. I finished the pan, and the folks that arrived after us were left without any lamb. The chicken curry was a bit thin. The vegetable curry was good, as was the chicken makhani. They were out of tandoori chicken. I would give them another shot, but wife says no.

Not a bad place to go at all if you want Indian food. The buffet is great. The food seems to not have as much spices as what I usually associate with Indian food though.

So my dining companions and I had no idea what to expect out of this place. As it turns out, it's an extremely serene and fairly dressy-looking (though totally casual) place that serves Nepalese (essentially Indian) food. As delicious as my dahl and [gigantic portion of] sherpa stew was, however, it was the naan that really made me never want to leave. My friends had very good things to say about the iced chai, as well. The service was amazing, partially because we were the only party in the entire restaurant for most of our meal. lol Still, though, considering the fact that the man who seated us and waited on us proooobably also cooked our meals (he was literally the only employee we saw), it was a pretty impressive evening. A great place to visit if you're in the mood for something different, and certainly something delicious. Just DO NOT miss out on the naan.

If you want authentic nepalese food that is as good as it gets, coupled with gracious service, then look no further. The buffet is an incredible deal and the quality is excellent. Similar food downtown isn't any better, just more expensive. Mt. Everest is an absolute gem! I love it. It's probably my most frequented restaurant over the past year.

4-1/2 if I could. My lunch buffet experience was a taste treat times ten. Honestly, I think I went around the buffet at least 10 times! Eggplant curry to die for. Great dahl. Nan just ok, not impressive, but not bad. Homemade hot sauce so complex I'd kill for the recipe. And can I request a quart of that homemade yogurt sauce to go, pretty please? Gracious hosts made this such a nice change of pace, so I will definitely be back.

Probably worth 4 1/2.. great lunch buffet and great spices... plus, some of the best hot chai tea in town. Added benefit to this food was for some reason it filled me up soo much that I didn't have to eat most of the rest of the day. Now how's that for value? Do try this place if you are in the area, looks like a coffee cafe, but ohh, it's soo much more.

Such a cute restaurant with some of the nicest people working there, not to mention that their food is great! They have probably the best Indian food in Fort Collins! Their lunch and dinner buffets are such a deal, especially when you consider how much I eat when I go there. The same amount and variety of food would cost you an arm and a leg at Taj Mahal. My favorites include the naan, samosas, sag paneer, tandoori chicken, tikka masala, and eggplant curry. Also, check out the rice pudding and bannana panang with carrot chutney (?) for dessert. I want to make sure more people keep going there, because I always feel sad when the restaurant is nearly empty. It would be such a shame for such a great place to close. PS. Great place to take a crowd of hungry people since everyone can eat right away and whatever they want with the buffet. This is actually what I did with my family for graduation!

Oh yum! Food is great, try the mango lassi. We usually do the buffet, kinda high priced, but delish. One of my most fav. places in FC.

Definitely a fan of this place, though it's been a while since I've had a chance to go. My first trip to the Everest Cafe was actually back when it first opened. My office mate was from Nepal and we had gone down to FC from Laramie to do some food shopping at the Asian market nearby when we discovered this place. We went in and had a bite to eat. I thought the food was amazing and my office mate was so pleased to find it. We then went back a few times with friends and family members. My favorite thing there was a little dumpling called a momo. OMG .. so delicious! Food at this place was great. Service was really good too.

Been coming here since it opened. Hit the buffet on a Saturday around 1:45 pm. It was delicious as usual...my only complaint is, that they close at 2:30 and didn't replenish the buffet line much even though there were a still alot of people in the restaurant. My advice: go early so there is a wider selection of items available. Great place, great food, great staff!

The samosa was sooooooo good and the egg plant curry and chai went there for lunch buffet which is always my fav to try so many items

I really enjoy eating out at different Indian buffets. This is OK, not the best, not the worst. The service was very courteous. I'd go back again, but am still looking for a killer Indian restaurant in Fort Collins.

Love love love this place!! The owner is a older gentleman and seems to be the server and not to mention one of the most hospitable people I've met. Very polite and kind and always greets us with a bow. Also he is always on top of our water being re-filled in our glass goblets. I believe he is one of the Sherpa the restaurant talks about. Either way, so delicious. Wonderful mango lassi, they have items that I haven't seen at any other Indian buffet (steamed broccoli mostly) but I believe it is to add to the Tibetan theme. Also although they have somewhat of a small selection, it's always top notch and satisfying. Needless to say, "we'll be back!". :)

Don't go here. Buffet food is old, don't top them once the dishes are empty. Very bitter experience, will never go there.

This was my favorite dining experience since moving here from New York. I'd given up on the idea of finding good Indian food here, until I tasted the delicious offerings here. If your vegan or vegetarian, you'll find plenty to eat off the menu or at the buffet. The dahl soup, the eggplant curry, and the Sherpa stew were delicious. The restaurant is family owned and operated by real Nepalese Sherpa and service is friendly and welcoming. I can't wait to go back.

Great Food! Basically Indian fare (curries, naan, etc.) plus a sherpa stew with lamb in it, and Chinese-style dumplings (made fresh there) that are dipped in a red curry-dairy sauce. Couldn't stop eating the yummy fried appetizer. My husband wasn't as fond of the chicken curry (a yellow curry). Dark meat was used. Overall super good. I highly recommend.

If you're tired of lackluster indian food in Fort Collins then why not try the Mount Everest cafe? The food is beyond excellent, they have a very friendly staff, and a dinner buffet that can't be beat!

I might be addicted to this place. I've been here three times since discovering it in May, and that's as regular as I've ever been to one spot. I don't like going to the same place too often. I went with the husband the first time for the lunch buffet and it was an amazing value! Under $9 for a great variety of dishes. Their homemade hot sauce is quite good, as is their tamarind sauce. Their dahl is the absolute best in town! The stuff is highly addictive. I mean, it's just lentils, but it's so darned tasty! The saag is rich savory goodness in my mouth. It's not so overwhelmingly heavy with ghee like most places make it, so you can actually eat more than two bites of it without feeling sick. Good stuff! The naan! Soft, pillowy, chewy, with perfectly crisp exterior... Need I say more? I don't normally like to fill up on bread, but I can't help it with their naan. The tandoori chicken is moist, flavorful, and a little smoky--everything chicken should be. The second time was two weeks ago. I went for dinner with a friend. We ordered off the menu, and the food was excellent! We shared three items and there was enough food left over for me to get two more meals out of it! We got the saag, the himalayan curry with shrimp--extra spicy, and the sherpa stew with lamb--also extra spicy. The sherpa stew was incredible! I don't know what it was that made it so delicious, but it was soooo delicious! Lots of veggies in an intensely flavored broth and quite a bit of lamb. Some of the lamb pieces were a little gristly, and I know that a lot of people get freaked out by that, but it really doesn't bother me that much. I mean, it happens. If it bothers you, get different meat. After that last time there, I couldn't stop craving their food, so I went back tonight with a different friend. My goal is to introduce all of my friends to this restaurant so that they can all become addicted as well. Locally owned restaurants that serve great food and have amazingly sweet and attentive owners that actually care about their guests deserve to do well. Anyway, we had the dinner buffet. It costs a little more than the lunch buffet, but you have more options to choose from. I couldn't eat as much as I wanted to because I kept drinking the super inexpensive beer! $2 for a pint of local brew! I feel like I'm somehow ripping them off! I'll drink beer there even if I'm not craving beer! As usual, the food was very tasty. Wish I had eaten more...

I wanted Indian and my boyfriend suggested Mount Everest Cafe. The chicken curries were pretty yummy. It seemed fairly close to Indian cooking.

not that bad at all, just fancy other places in town more. they have great momo, and the staff there is super nice and friendly. i will give this place another try here soon, just to rehash some new opinions, if there are any.

This place is Awesome! I could eat the samosas and homemade hot sauce every day. The to go buffet is an awesome value. The family that owns the place are always so nice. They usually give you a free chi tea or dessert while you wait for them to make you some fresh baked naan bread. This place is everything you could ask for in a restaurant: Great food, great service, great value and its family owned and operated.
