Welp, I'm done. I gave them one last chance. Right after they remodeled, we went in and were treated very rudely by the hostess. She acted like we were idiots because we were disappointed the salad bar was gone (BIG mistake) and was simply cool and barely polite. We went as a family with my daughter and granddaughter, and my daughter looked at me and said, "Mom, I think we should just leave." We did. We told the PR person how we were treated and she said she would take care of it. Sure. We went back yesterday - the SAME hostess was there. Didn't look up or acknowledge us! The girl that seated us was ok, but when my husband asked her if that was the same girl from almost two years ago (I may be off on my time line) she said let me see! I'll find out. She never came back. A waiter whizzed by us and said I'll be back when my husband had a question. He neve came back. Our waitress, who was nice, made us wait and wait to order our beer. So....we left again. And this time we will never be back and we will tell everyone about our experience. When management doesn't listen to customers, things are going to fail. The attitude of The Moot House is ridiculous. It's not that good. Really. My guess? The Moot House has run it's course.

The Moot House used to be my "go-to" restaurant for great food, reasonable prices and excellent service. With their recent remodel that is no longer true. I think they spent way too much emphasis on the decor and lighting and expanding the bar area. The food is so generic and tasted just ok. Everyone in my family had the prime rib and they were disappointed. One of my family members suspected either chemicals, tenderizers or msg present in the beef because he had a rough night that evening....his system cannot take it....so that was bad. No salad bar, no bread with honey butter - these were things you guys used to have that was like a "signature" thing - what do you have now? Pretty lighting? hmmm. I wish you paid a bit more attention to the food and menu than to just making more money off the bar area. You are supposed to be a classy place, yet I was handed a one page, large, laminated menu. yuck. Choices were average. Steak prices were too high - especially for the quality - not so good. 3 Members of our party ate their meals with their jackets/coats on because it was so cold in there......the new fake wood flooring makes the place super noisy...and by taking out the salad bar you have a huge wasted space there where all we see is people rushing around...not relaxing.....why did you renovate again? oh yes, the bar area....gotta get those Bar dollars!! The beer people are taking over.....too bad you did not allow for a better food area. And are you ignoring the gluten free trend? yes. Ok, I guess you can ignore it - but gluten free people like to have great meals presented to them as well...... I guess we now will travel to Greeley for our steak...aged nicely...no chemicals....can't mention that place here or we'll never get a seat over there! I am very sad you renovated.

In the past I have enjoyed the moot house greatly, this last time in was much different. First the appetizers came out well, very tasty, this began the night off great. Then all down hill. When we even saw our waiter it was for a brief moment, he seemed to busy with other tables to give ours any attention. It got worse, his service was horrible and politeness did not exist. He turned out to be a real jerk off. On top of bad service the food was dry and overcooked. I will not be returning and for future guest avoid Morgan as your server, or expect a similar experience.

The Chef's Special -- Wild Boar Meatloaf was spectacular! The best I have ever eaten! Mushroom appetizer was delicious as was the Prime Rib! Fast, friendly and professional service! Clean and classy venue, booths were private and quiet enough for conversation! 18 beers on tap, and bartender allowed me to sample until I found one I liked. Love this restaurant!

Great place to eat the menu is short and simple. The bar tender is super kind and always makes sure you drink is full. The Ruben and clam chowder is out of this world good!!! Super fresh I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. It is always very clean and the prices are good.

Quickly becoming a favorite place to come for happy hour and transition into dinner. Crab stuffed mushrooms at the happy hour price is a straight up STEAL. Same serving size and half the price. I have had the fish & chips, bison meatloaf (a special that night), the pan seared chicken, and the Guinness short ribs and everything has been fantastic. I would also recommend the calamari appetizer. The light, crisp batter and asian chili sauce is a fun way to have a ho-hum dish amp'd up!

It is with a saddened heart that I give this place 2 stars . Growing up in the area I had always wanted to come to the Moot House and since it has been around for so long I was sure 30+ years later that my taste buds were about to have their bids blown. We asked to be seated in the fabulous newly redone patio only to be sat in the back of it at the old dirty iron table sets as we jealously gazed at the pretty people they sat in the front comfy new chairs. Next we ordered the crab stuffed mushrooms. They were a huge disappointment. Something tasted thawed and re-heated and I don't like my crab or my mushrooms that way. I don't remember what our main courses consisted of if that gives you any idea how "good" that went. What I do remember is that I'll never go back unless I have to and I'm not paying.

For years, the Moot house was our "go to" for a consistent dining experience. While we were disappointed that the restaurant made the changes, we thought we would give the new concept a try. Our very inexperienced server dropped an open bottle of ketchup on the floor adjacent to our table, I picked it up for her (she was balancing their dinner on a tray) and set it on the edge of our table. To my surprise, after thanking me, she PLACED IT ON THE TABLE OF THE NEXT DOOR DINERS! really? I ordered medium rare prime, ($23). What I received was a well done butt cut. I would have requested a different cut, but never again saw the server until time for plate pickup. She delivered our deserts, along with an apology, "sorry, we ran out if dessert spoons, so I figured you could use your coffee spoon". I swear! I'm quite disappointed with the overall experience and won't be coming back. Coincidentally, the restaurant was less than 50% occupied at 6:20pm on a Wednesday evening. Perhaps ours is not an uncommon occurrence.

Yummy bison burger! Lots of different local beers on tap! Calamari is amazing! Clean and great staff!

We came in town for a visit. We were looking for a place to eat and discovered Moot House. Our server, Audrey was awesome and took great care in serving us. This party of 6 ordered a variety of food and it was very good. We order prime rib, roasted chicken and the bangers and mash. The food was great.

I had a business lunch on Wednesday and it was perfect. Great service, great food, great atmosphere. Love the upscale/casual feel to the place; it's nice without being pretentious, ideal for business. Wait staff is attentive without getting in the way, which isn't easy. Let me say, they did such an excellent job of remodeling. They modernized and still managed to keep the Moot House look and feel. Well done! And I love that Moot House is three blocks from my office in Midtown.
(4)Kim H.
My husband and I had a lovely late dinner on the patio tonight. The food was delicious, the waiter provided excellent service, and the owner/manager even checked in to make sure we were happy with our meals. The Moot house is a great place with a wide variety of beers and wines, delicious food, and a nice atmosphere.

I ate here with some friends on a Sunday after church. It's a great place. I loved the decor/ambiance. It was very German Tavern. I ordered the Bread Pudding French Toast. It was SO good!!! It had a fruit compote. I'm not sure what kind of fruit, but it was tasty. It already had maple syrup on it. Their hash browns are unlike any I've had before. They had cheese in them. So good and perfectly offset the sweetness of the french toast. My friend got the biscuits and gravy. Her biscuit was huge and had an herbed cream gravy on it. I took a bite and it was also very good. Made me wish my tummy was bigger so I could have had both. :-) Our server was super nice. I wished my other foodie friends could be there with me. I see a road trip in the future. :-)
(5)Jaysi B.
I've been there a couple of times - it's a bit pricey but by far the best Philly cheesesteak I've had in town.
(4)Martin D.
Moot House has always been a safe multigenerational super consistent restaurant for many years. When change comes many resist but congratulations on the new look! The recent changes have not taken away from the original concept but just brought this up to date. In fact the fresh look broadens the appeal of this local landmark. The addition of the bar is a wonderful addition. Happy Hour offerings were great! Special kudos for the mushrooms, calamari, falafel, pretzel rolls! Beer Nuts while nice and hot lacked seasoning of sweet and salty. Most of all the highlight of all of this groups restaurant is their ability to hire and TRAIN great staff! Thanks for always focusing on staff development! It shows! New loyalty program is nice addition also. PS looks like people will come back and quickly even if you take out the salad bar! Funny how short memories can be if things are executed well!
(4)Jessie J.
Moot House just misses the mark. There's just nothing interesting going on in here. We showed up and were promptly sat and got drinks. The staff was friendly and attentive but didn't know the menu and the food missed the mark but the calamari was outstanding. We got the steak and crab ($32) and salmon ($20+). the steak was small and thin, probably 7 or 8 ounces but was cooked and seasoned well. The TWO crab legs were shitty and cold and tasted way off. The salmon was good but way over salted. In short we would have gotten better food and at a far cheaper price had we gone to Outback. The value is just far too poor. I added a few pics I took as well. We'll never go back and honestly I feel ripped off.
(2)Lany S.
Went here this morning and tried their brunch menu from their new menu. 3 of us each tried something different --- all 3 items were extremely delicious. The brunch menu was very small (only about 8 items), but really good! I don't need a giant menu if everything is done well. The service was great. Plus --- fresh squeezed orange juice. yum!!!! Prices were great. Haven't tried any lunch/dinner food yet.
(5)Brendon C.
Well I wasn't very impressed with the email I was sent... basically said sorry you don't like the new look.... However, I did go back and things were much more dialed in. While I didn't check out the room I sat in last time (the one with the fireplace) the rest of the place looked very nice. The outside was finished and functional and looking great. But most of all the food was WAY better. I think they must have hired a new chef. Not only were the items plated differently, but the prime rib was incredible and the best I've ever had there. Things just tasted fresher, hotter and tastier. Having been here a dozen times before the remodel and twice since I can say things are much improved.
(5)Brent H.
Excellent all around! Atmosphere: we've kinda been waiting for the remodel as it seemed like a restaurant geared primarily to the more mature population. The new look is more conducive to younger generations, very classy. Food: Delish...great value. I get bummed when I spend $50-100 and I leave feeling like we could've done just as good for far less at home. Not the case here. Service: My wife and I were very impressed with how incredibly cooperative and cohesive the service was. All of the waiters worked as a team. They made us feel like they were super attentive to us. It was pretty awesome.
(4)Raygina K.
We've never been here and saw they served brunch so we thought to try it. The service was very good, drinks never ran out and we were checked on. The food was amazing. The cheesy hashbrowns are wonderful and the french toast was wonderfully sweet without being overbearing. Overall I left full but not miserable. The price was pretty good so I believe we'll be back, perhaps for a different meal.

My family celebrated "just being together" - a special evening we planned over the holidays, by seeing the movie, Les Miserables, followed by dinner at the Moot House. What a wonderful evening! The movie is awesome, but this review is about one of our family's favorite locally owned restaurants. Our dinner was relaxing, with great service and delicious food, including their unparalleled salad bar with every offering fresh and interesting. Our entrees included the top sirloin steak, pork tenderloin and tavern chicken, all very tasty and well presented with seasonal veggies. Excellent wine selections, reasonably priced, and delicious, icy martinis, as well. We loved being together, dining at this local institution where we are so comfortable and yet always impressed.
(5)Ty B.
When a salad comes out on a freezing plate - I'm always a little nervous because it means it was made much earlier. When a Caesar salad is flavorless, I get even more nervous - because how hard is it to run out and buy some tasty dressing if you can't make it in the kitchen. When a $27 NY Steak is filled with fat and is just average tasting, it means this restaurant has some serious work to do. This may have been a great place 30 years ago, but not any more.
(2)Catalina J.
I had a very bad experience here! When looking at the menu there was very little selection making it hard to choose. However I order some type of chicken and my boyfriend order the Moot Burger. My chicken had no flavor and very little rice so I wanted to take a bite of my boyfriend's burger which looked more appealing. When I took a bite of my boyfriend's burger, there was something crunchy in it. At first, I thought it was nothing but it turned out to be GLASS!!! WORSE EXPERIENCE EVER!! My boyfriend and I were grossed out and could not eat anything after that.
(1)Bruce E.
I use to call this the Ponderosa or Sizzler of Fort Collins. But they have changed. New decor, Front Range beers and great mushrooms. Well done
(4)Kathy B.
Was super yummy! special on prime rib, 8 oz. $12.95....with garlic mashed potatoes, veggies, choice of salad, warm fresh rolls and butter, had a Guinness, YUM!! Only problem was it seemed to take a long time to get our beer and then one of us had the salad bar and they didn't serve our salads on time so we could all enjoy our salads together. Service was great but just a bit slow getting started. Still I was very satisfied with the whole meal! Would definitely go back!
(5)Sean T.
We walked in at 730 on a Saturday night, and only had to wait for about 5 min to get a table. Typical classic Prime RIB style restaurant. I can not complain really about anything, The prime rib was excelent, the waitress was very attentive, and the salad bar war good, and the beef soup was great. My wife and I had a small and a mediunm prime rib meal, and 2 glasses of wine and the bill was about 60 bucks. The place is average, not new and exciting, but sometimes a quiet, traditional place is whats needed.
(3)Cielo G.
Upscale falls short on the food. Nothing spectacular for the price. Great waitress though.
(3)Genevieve S.
If I could zero stars I would. I was very surprised at the service, the food, and basically every aspect of this restaurant. Knowing that the moot house was owned by a group who owned Austin's Steakhouse and Big Al's, I expected a lot more. The food was over exaggerated in every way as well as the restaurant. Nothing tasted fresh and the menu was even blander. I can see this place closing very soon or maybe the waiters should start wearing costumes because there attitude is even worse.
(1)Steph P.
We ate there on 3/22/2014. We were celebrating that evening and called to request a nice table. When we arrived, we did have a nice table. However, the food was not very good. The didn't offer much in the way of steaks. I ended up with a sirloin and it was not cooked all the way even though I told the waiter I wanted mine medium well.when I got my steak I thought they had slaughtered it on my plate there was so much blood. Not to mention it was a poor quality steak. There was so much gristle in it you could barley cut though it. I sent it back and requested a new steak and they returned the same one back but cooked more. I refused it since it was inedible. The manager did bring me a piece of prime rib but by this time, I was so grossed out, I couldn't eat my dinner. Our waiter was a dud. But if you take all that away, the steak was 24.00 and that didn't include a salad. They almost charge Ruth Chris prices but they're a Western Sizzlin place. I have no problem paying $$ for a steak but I expect it to be cooked the way I've asked and I need to be able to eat it. Big disappointment. We wanted to try them out since they remodeled. We won't be back.

Hello there I am jack I am ur kid reviewer I will rather give them a stamp of approval or a stamp of not kid friendly Moot house is a fun restaurant that brings back old English pub styles. good burgers but weird starters (escargot) great place but not really for kids
(3)Jaylon W.
This is a nice place to have dinner or lunch. The calamari was awesome. Couldn't get enough of it! Everything was definitely worth the money And I would love to go back.
(4)D.R. F.
Great lunch Remodel is beautiful and I am holding back a little as I want to try more on the new menu. Miss the salad bar! Service is awesome as always.
(3)Emily J.
Having been here countless times, I still enjoy this restaurant. I am a huge fan of salad and their gourmet salad bar does the trick for me. I always get the salad bar and usually the jumbo coconut shrimp for my entree. This is a great place to go in the winter especially because of it's cozy, pub-like atmosphere. The service is usually great, but kinda hit and miss at times. The hostesses are usually kinda ditzy and will rarely remember your reservation if you choose to make one. All in all a good place to go though!
(4)Kristin M.
In the years that I've been reviewing restaurants in Fort Collins, I've found that each place has it's own personality, it's own atmosphere and experience. Some places are fun, some are exciting, some are dull and boring. When it comes to dining at The Moot House, "classic" is the word that comes to mind, but I think they are really trying to branch out a bit to the more modern gastronomes in our city. It's almost like a split personality. The Moot House has been a Fort Collins landmark since the early 1970's. Since 1998 they became part of the Hot Corner Concepts company that also owns Austin's, Enzio's Big Al's and Austin's Homestead at Pelican Lakes. With their English Tudor-style architecture and decor, it definitely has a "Lawrence Welk goes to a German Country Club" feel (as coined by my dining date, Angel). The dark wood-paneled walls, paintings of people playing polo, and leather wing-backed chairs gives it that old masculine feeling of cigars, New England, Whiskey and steak. Because The Moot House has been around for so long (in Fort Collins dining years), they've developed a loyal following of old-time local residents. People have come to expect a certain menu, a certain style and a certain atmosphere from the Moot House. It's a place where consistency can be counted on - until you attend one of their beer dinner events. Then all familiarity goes out the window and you're brought into a world of culinary adventure, expecting the unexpected. I've attended a beer dinner event and have been inundated with emails from readers telling me about their night at the Moot House beer pairing dinners. Every single person loves them, and raves about what a spectacular dining experience it was. Fortunately, this is a monthly occurrence, and priced very fairly, so you shouldn't miss out on these pairing dinners. I think this bi-polar-ness works for the Moot House - keeping loyal families happy with a consistent classic menu, but it also encourages the more adventurous to explore a creative culinary experience with local craft beer. If I had to chose which personality I like best, you bet it's the craft beer pairing menu, and my dining guests wholeheartedly agree.

I love this restaurant. I've been coming here for probably 15 years and it is delicious each and every time. I usually enjoy the "Pub Chips" appetizer which is out of this world. Also, try the Wedge Salad. Delicious. The reuben is wonderful- made with fresh house made sauerkraut. Yum! Try the Bloody Mary- ask for it extra spicy. They top it off with a splash of Guinness which is awesome.
(5)Nick D.
The food here was just okay for the price paid... Will NOT go back.
(2)Andreas H.
I truly don't see what the big deal is with this place. The food is fair, nothing to write home about. In fact, the more that I think about it, the less I feel like it was worth spending any money there. There are so many better "special-night-out" places to eat in Fort Collins. The Good: The service has always been great. The Fair: The food is hit or miss, but never stellar. The Horrid: The decor and location. Please... it reeks of trying to hard.
(3)Kenni M.
I attended the February's beer dinner at The Moot House. All I have to say is, you gotta try it! AMAZING!
(5)Janet B.
I was at the Moot House with friends for a late lunch last week, while visiting the area. I was underwhelmed, to say the least.. The food was ok, but over-priced ... Service was the very worst. It was fairly slow, and the server was far from attentive. What should have been an hour lunch dragged on and on due to lack of attention. I felt as if the restaurant could care less that we were there! Soup came out at the same time as the shrimp salad ordered as the main fare- that was a first! We waited so long for the person to bring the bill and then never came back to take it! I had to go up front and pay myself. Next upcoming visit I'll choose another restaurant.

So my family used to go to the Moot House fairly often because my mom loved their salad bar.....not so much anymore!!! We hadn't been there in about 5 years and we were not missing anything at all. The last 2 times I've been there have been the worst service!! Let me explain #1 We were quoted a wait time of 30 min. So we sat at the bar and ordered a bottle of wine. After 35 min, people that came AFTER us were seated BEFORE we were. The hostess said they were call ahead seating...ok understandable. After 45 min, we check one more time. A manager came over and offered to by us a glass of wine from the bottle we ordered as an apology for the confusion..oh $5 off wooo! NOT Finally we were seated and the server was rude. Hated it! #2 Easter Sunday! My entire family, about 14 people came for their "brunch". Motel 6 probably has a better brunch. The thing that got me was when my 7 yr old cousin asked if on her kids plate (1 piece of toast, 1 scrambled egg and 1 slice of bacon) she could have another egg instead of a slice of bacon because she is a vegetarian. The waiter said no he would not do that. He didn't even attepmt to say in a polite way. Jerk. How rude. They have officially lost my business, as well as the 14 members of my family (not that they care)
(1)Alden C.
The previous times I have been to the Moot House have been great. However my last time there the steak I ordered seemed tough and not possessing the usual tenderness from previous visits. I was very disappointed with their Bloody Marys they put Guinness in their mix recipe for this drink making it taste watered down and just blah. Did this place go through a ownership change?? Again I did not have a horrible meal but not anything from what I have had in the past here.
(3)Adrielle M.
I came here for a five year anniversary celebration with my boyfriend. The service was great! I loved the food and environment. Very old english feel. I felt the menu was a little small, but that salad bar was GREAT
(4)Evil W.
How anyone could rate Moot House at less than five stars amazes me. You can't get any better than this for service, quality of the food, and atmosphere. Unless you have some problem with dark wood paneling (I'm male so maybe women don't like it or something) Moot House defines class, elegance, and excellence. Everything that I have ever eaten there was excellent. I suggest dressing up for this place - it adds to the experience. Of course, if you are under forty, maybe the quality is lost on you, which might explain a couple of the lackluster reviews I see (and the misspellings and grammatical errors). So if you're *mature* and have some cash (because good food ain't cheap) this is my vote for the best place for steak in Fort Collins.
(5)Tanya W.
The moot house is OK. I have been here a number of times although unfortunately the prices seem to keep getting higher and the quality does not seem to follow. It is typically fairly quiet and seems to fit the older crowd well. However, it you are looking for value (which given the economy, you are crazy not to be), there are places with much better value.
(3)Jeff B.
Great food and great service. Creme Brulee is awesome
(4)R P.
Not much good to say about this place. The food was overpriced for the quality, and the atmosphere was lackluster. It had the feel of a glorified Marie Calendar's. I would not recommend this place to anyone under the age of 70.
(2)Sally S.
Enjoyed friendly service at the bar and at the table. Loved the salad bar, menu was limited, but very tasty. Have had basic burger (Great flavor!), The open face prime rib sandwich (Decent sized, great taste) and chicken (I think Florentine!). Have always walked away happy with value and service. Been going to lunch a couple of time a month for 4 years and not one disappointed visit.
(5)Dawn P.
The Moot House is one of our favorite special-event-night-out in Fort Collins restaurants. I've never been disappointed with a meal at the Moot. The English-style pub bar is also a great place to kick back and relax. I love taking clients out for lunch at The Moot -- they can eat light at the salad bar (one of the best in town), or live large with the prime rib sandwich and fries. I've attended several group business lunches, and they are great at accommodating a large crowd. A real delight.
(5)Josh C.
I have been in twice since the remodel and loved both experiences! The staff has been incredible and never leave me waiting. The Prime Rib is the star of the menu, in my opinion. I actually live/work within walking distance, and the smell of Prime Rib in the air makes my mouth water! Always perfectly cooked and seasoned. I usually get the biggest cut (16oz, I think) and can never finish it. But, my dogs sure do love the leftovers (generally mostly fat) and if they could write a review, they'd give it 5 Paws! If you're into cider, try the blackberry pear cider. You won't regret it. It's crisp, it's refreshing and it's delicious! If you're new to the area, go check this place out! You won't regret it and you are sure not to forget it. The locals love it, and you know why when you visit!
(5)Courtney L.
We went to The Moot House for my husband's birthday dinner. Our food was wonderful, and the service was exceptional. They were attentive, knowledgeable about the menu and incredibly friendly. I had the Ancho chicken mac and cheese and it was fantastic! My husband and in laws all had the prime rib and said it was perfectly seasoned and cooked to their liking. But above all, our server was amazing. Thanks for a great experience. I would definitely recommend!
