Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

Very, very average Chinese restaurant, nothing to go out of your way for. Family owned for 20 plus years but don't expect great service, especially if you only want a hot soup and hot tea. You won't win over this sister owner duo with small orders. My best recommendation is to go if your craving Chinese food and see what you think. I'll be curious to see your reviews.

Way too slow on service, surly waitress. Disappointing.

I guess I am not a connoisseur of Chinese takeout...but I eat it and enjoy it and this place is just as good as most others I've tried. I usually get the szechuan chicken...it's not as spicy as I would like it but it's always loaded with chicken and veggies and has great flavor. Eggs rolls and hot and sour soup are pretty good here too. We've never done delivery so not sure if they do or if it's any good...but we have sat and had some hot sake while waiting for our order...which was pretty darn good sake:) (I know not Chinese...but whatevs) Really love this on a cold snowy day in Evergreen when you just want to get takeout so you can veg out, stuff your face and watch movies.

Love this place, the owners are wonderful people. The whole family is always very friendly and cares that your dining experience is pleasurable. The food is always fresh and well prepared. My husband & I are always greeted warmly. Love this place. Tim & Glenda

The food here used to be alright but now it is awful. Do not waste your time going here. I have been so many times and it disappoints each time. Food is dry and boring and service is poor and snotty. If you are looking for good Chinese in evergreen, try Phoenix Chinese. It is amazing and family owned.

Female owner was extremely rude and seemed mad that I brought kids in. Final straw was when she snapped at my daughter for asking a question about the menu. Being a jerk to grown ups is one thing but do not act like a jerk to little kids. Very average to below average food. I never understand when owners of a service oriented business are rude to customers. Just stupid.

Family run traditional Americanized Cantonese style. Some review said this is the best Chinese restaraunt in Evergreen. It is the only one as far as I can find. The rice served with each dish is poor quality. And the side fried rice is not fried. It is cooked brown rice. BarbQue pork lunch was a good value but the egg rolls are horrible. Pay extra and get the Shanghai roll with better skin. Veggies served in dishes are good and fresh! There are 2 other places in the shopping are there by Evergreen Lake.

Delicious as always. Coal mine Dragon is our regular carry out Chinese restaurant. Today we had time to relax in the dining room there and watch the snow fall over evergreen lake. Great food, fabulous view, and the staff is top-notch. Worth the trip!

This was our second visit to Evergreen and to this restaurant in 5 years -- and it did not disappoint. First and most important -- NO MSG. I love smart restaurants. We got the Pu Pu Platter appetizers all around and everything was just fantastic. Great fried wontons and skewers of beef, egg rolls, fried shrimp etc. Individually, we got a plate of pork fried rice, a mu shoo pork, and a lemon chicken -- and everything was yummy -- it took 3 boxes to take the leftovers home, and made a great lite supper the next evening. I can't remember anything about the atmosphere except that it was very simple -- but who cares when the food is this good.

Apparently no more lunch menu. $50 for lunch for 2 adults and 2 kids. Wish we would have went somewhere else but it's hard to walk out with the kids but easy not to walk back in again. Wish I could say the food was woth the price but it wasn't.

The food is decent but the staff are rude. And it takes a really long time to get served here sometimes because there's only one server. Sadly it's the only Chinese place in Evergreen, so when we have a craving for Chinese we go here. We would probably go here more often if the server lady's weren't so rude. Bummer.

A little pricey for Chinese food. I've ordered take out twice from here now. My shrimp fried rice was AMAZING, it seriously was probably up there on best fried rice I've had with one small complaint, I hate when the tails are still on the shrimp and you have to pull it off yourself. The other thing I had another time was the shrimp lo mien, it was pretty good, I've had better lo mien. (same complaint about the tails of the shrimp) I am knocking off another star for the fact the menu doesn't have descriptions, so the other person who ordered with me ordered orange chicken and it was not the traditional breaded deep fried orange chicken, that pretty much everywhere else makes it like. So it wasn't at all what he wanted and he didn't end up eating his dinner. So menu descriptions would be helpful especially if deviates from 'traditional" Also my egg rolls were beyond terrible. Small and dry and chewy and flavorless. (edit stand corrected the menu does describe the orange chicken - just wish it was the traditional breaded deep fried kind) Overall I feel like their menu is a little weird. I wish they had a salad and some delicious ginger/sesame dressing. And I also feel like their portions are small for what you are paying.

Eat here all the time - take-out mostly...but sometimes we eat in. Great lunch specials, they can make things as spicy as you want (Be careful..!!) Ladies up front are a little feisty and the place is simple, but they get it fast and get it done right!

For under $14 a person form soup, an appetizer and an entree, I am not sure you can do much better. The sweet and sour soup was the perfect blend of tart, spicy sour and sweetness, the egg roll was crispy and light and the foil chicken appetizer had a bit of a funky consistency, but a great taste overall. The fried rice and beef and broccoli were typical, nothing to throw a parade in honor of but nothing to turn up one's nose up at either. A solid choice and a great value with appetizers that leave me to wonder if there isn't an entree equally delightful that I just happened to miss and will discover on a future visit. Special bonus: If you like quirky fortunes, you may be in luck. Mine read " One line is shorter than the other." Ummm....thanks, I guess.

I remember coming to the Coal Mine Dragon with my uncle at a very young age, and being impressed with the Pu Pu Platter. Many years later, it's still the best Chinese food in Evergreen. AND it looks out over the lake. Just perfect.

Way too overpriced for what you get and not too friendly of staff. The wonton soup didn't have meat in it, and it only had 1 wonton in the soup (which was only dough).

Ditto the unwelcome mat. Ordered lunches to go at the end of the lunch period. Not impressed.

I wish I could give them 0 stars! WORST PLACE EVER!! PLEASE BE WARNED. My family last night placed an order with the Coal Mine Dragon for about 6 people, and since this place is pricey. We paid almost $100 for our order and had a LOT of food. When my Mother-in-law went to pick up the food the woman at the counter read back the order, note we had ordered VEGETABLE lo mien. Which is what she did read back to us, but what were in the boxes was not our order. So, forgive us for not checking all 10 boxes of food to ensure accuracy of each one. Usually you can trust a well-established company to make sure large orders are accurate. Well, turns out we were given pork or beef lo mien instead. This specific vegetable order was for my younger brother who is a vegetarian and cannot eat a meal that contains meat in it. So we called them up and said, instead of vegetable lo mien we got beef lo mien, they asked us to come back down there and they would get us vegetable lo mien. So while the rest of our order gets cold after getting home and realizing the error, we drive back to the restaurant to get our vegetable lo mien for our veggie eating brother. Once we got there the woman was SO RUDE to us and demanded we paid for it. I'm sorry, but usually if an order is messed up and you have to come back to get it the veg. lo mien would be free. We had already paid for veg. lo mien and did not receive it. The woman told my Mother-in-law that she was a liar and she gave us the veg. lo mien. The woman across the counter was yelling at us in her own store saying how we were wrong and are lying and she read back the order to us, so therefore, whats in the boxes are exactly what she's reading on the order. Uhm? No. We refused to pay for it and be treated with such abuse and left. Maybe they are the only Chinese restaurant in Evergreen which is why they are still there, but they are HORRIBLE and treat their customers like shit. My family will never eat there again, hopefully this review will alarm any potential customers as well.

Consistantly good food and great service. They treat you like family and it shows in the food they serve. They do a unique twist to Orange Chicken which is very tasty. Reasonable prices make this place even better!

We stopped by Coal Mine Dragon for a dinner on a Monday night. The restaurant was half full. We ordered three dishes, Chicken Lo Mein, Mo Shoo Shrimp and Yu Sho Three Meats. All three were excellent. Service was very good, we were waited on in a timely manner and got our food in less than 10 minutes. We had one Mo Shoo pancake left over and it was very good the next day.

The Coal Mine Dragon gets a bonus star for sentimental reasons. Years ago, when I went to high school in Evergreen, my friends and I would hit up the Dragon on a regular basis. Other than a new location since then, not much has changes. Tasty food at a tasty price. Makes for a great lunch spot if you get a hankering for Chinese!

Being the only Asian to be writing a review about this place, I feel like I have a bit more weight than the other yelpers. Coal Mine is a cool place to eat... the view, the authenticity, the service, the comfort... everything is top notch. This is a solid solid 4 star restaurant (on my yelp rating system).

Old friendly service, food is ok. Great location next to evergreen lake. Its your prototypical chinese restaurant.

Really good dumplings, mushu, lo mein.... And Amy and Lynn, sisters who run the place are great. Be nice and give them a chance!
