I was a little apprehensive about staying in a B&B, but a friend's wedding in Evergreen limited the lodging options for out of town guests. I was so wonderfully surprised by my brief stay at the Bears Inn that I regret not expecting more than just a place to sleep for the night. Upon arriving, Vicki was so warm and welcoming, and walked me through the ins and outs of staying at the Inn and even set the tv to a music station to make my room more cozy. I had the Marshdale Room on the first floor, with what may be the most comfortable bed I've slept in outside my own home. When I returned from the wedding around 9 PM, I could hear other guests moving about in near-by rooms, but by the magical quiet hour of 10 PM, it was Magically Quiet...and I was directly across from the front entrance and stairs! What truly sets the Bears Inn apart, is the breakfast. I was unsure of how comfortable I was with being assigned to a table of strangers for a sit down breakfast. But somewhere between that poached pear with raspberry sauce on a plate of yogurt, and the homemade watermelon salsa on the scrambled egg tostada, I made 4 new friends, whom I should point out were both couples returning to celebrate their wedding anniversaries at the Bears Inn. Nothing speaks louder to an establishment's quality of service than returning customers. It is the little touches, the welcoming signs with your own name on it, and an unforgettable breakfast that will help you feel comfortable, relaxed, and charmed by this wonderful hidden gem!

The Bears Inn will not rent you a room if you have a baby. I just got an email from them saying, "Thank you for your inquiry, however we do not accommodate infants in the Inn." Must be a great place to stay if you want to stay away from children.

Each room in this Bed and Breakfast has its own distinct theme. I was in the Poets Corner room for a weekend getaway for the girlfriend's birthday. The inn itself is just off the highway in beautiful suburban Evergreen. Like a romantic rural Bed and Breakfast, Bears Inn is over-the-top cute and an equally cute dog roams the place accepting pets from traveling strangers. Vicki, the manager, is energetic, professional, and very courteous in helping you with whatever you need. The (vegetarian) breakfast was absolutely amazing. Really. Unfortunately the coffee shop just down the highway is closed on Sunday, but the drip coffee at Bears Inn is gourmet. The only drawback was the shower. The antique shower head had several clogged holes that resulted in the handful of working holes spraying water at sound barrier breaking speeds.

Time warp back to 1920. Comfy, artsy with elk, deer and a hot tub. Pricing is in line with similar accommodation in the area. The setting and personal service sets it apart. It is also next-door to the best restaurant within a light year, The Bistro at Marshdale.

I stayed here after a wedding near Evergreen, Colorado. The location was absolutely perfect. Especially since we didn't want to drive back to Denver intoxicated. Nestled in the pines at an elevation of 7755 feet, the historic Bears Inn is located 3 miles South of Evergreen and 30 miles West of Denver in the small community of Marshdale Park. The building itself looks like a large rustic mountain home built into the rocky slope surrounded by evergreens. We took advantage of the hot tub behind the main building with a wonderful view of the stars. It sure felt nice to soak after a long wedding dancing in dress shoes. For breakfast we had the inside or outside choice to eat breakfast. As the summer morning was perfect, we decided to take our breakfast outside. 2 other couples joined us and had wonderful eggs, potatoes and fruits.
