While on vacation here in gorgeous (but too touristy) Estes Park, my bf and I ate at Claire's three times in 9 days. Their breakfast is great! Generous portions, delicious dishes and a lovely patio on which to enjoy your meals. I had, in the following order of consumption and of excellence; the strawberry cheesecake waffle, the Cuban Eggs Benedict, and the Blueberry Lemon pancakes. All were each in their own way amazing, but the waffle was hands down the best I have ever had!

First: ignore Yelp's directions as it is totally wrong. This place is at the park by city hall and library. Easily found on the main drag. Wife and I went at 11:30, she had eggs Benedict, fried potato cubes, pancake. I had lunch of French onion soup and a Reuben with cole slaw. The WORST French onion soup I've had in my 57 years on the planet. Served in a bowl rather than crock- first clue. Melted as if by microwave blobs (3) of cheese and 3 croutons. Purple onions not fully sautéed in a water base- couldn't finish, no taste but for the crunch of the purple onions. Reuben average, slaw was dry and tasteless- no one mixed the slaw before putting in the little bowl. My wife's OJ was something like Tang or Sunny Delight and NOT orange juice. Fried potatoes were as crunchy as potato chips and had to be softened in the eggs Benedict sauce. They have a great spot overlooking the park and shops (eat on front porch), but really no effort on the little details that would cause us to return. 2 stars for location and wait staff. Sad.

Last time we came here, everyone had mediocre food except my mom who wisely ordered the trout. Her trout was amazing. So this time when we went to Claire's, we wised up, everyone had the trout... which was disappointing. I'm not sure what was so different this time but the fish was just okay. Not only that but the menu clearly listed what came with the trout (rice and green beans), and what actually came out was rice and asparagus. This is awesome if you like asparagus, but if you absolutely hate asparagus this is an unpleasant surprise. Not only that, but the waiter tried to convince me there WERE green beans on my plate. The capers on the fish were "green beans." He did bring me fruit out of pity when it was clear I didn't buy into the capers are green beans theory. So expect surprise substitutions no matter what the menu says. Also the food is disappointing for the price point. We won't be going back.

This was a perfectly acceptable meal. My friend and I both had a burger with onion rings and the baby had french toast. Baby devoured literally everything we put in front of her and threw only a fraction of an ion ring on the floor, which for her is a five-star review. The burgers were surprisingly good, and the homemade ranch was some of the best I've ever had. The reason for three stars instead of four is the service and atmosphere were both just meh, and I expect better for the pricing even in a tourist town like Estes.

The food was good and the staff was very good. You can either sit outside and watch people walk by or set inside out of the sun. The cost is a bit spendie, but for what you get it is well worth it. When we go back to Estes Park, I will definitely keep this place in mind.

The food in Claire's so far has been excellent, I had tonight the Dynamite Burger, I wish the waitress should advised me about how hot this thing was! The burger was good but, make sure you ask the waitress to put the hot sauce on the side. This is a burger for hot, hot food lovers, not a semi hot food lover like me!! The fried calamari was ok, the sauce was ok, kind of sweet-spice Thai sauce however the calamari were damped in grease. Have had them better before here, not sure why the inconsistency!

We went here for breakfast almost every day of our honeymoon. The first day was like this: I was delighted to discover that Claire's serves pineapple juice, which is the best I've ever tasted -- and I used to live in Hawaii! The juice was quickly forgotten when my Bananas Foster French Toast showed up. The delicious caramel sauce had me leaving the syrup untouched, which is something I never do. Another thing I never do is finish a massive plate of food, and yet, somehow, I inhaled the entirety of my breakfast plate, and several diced potatoes off my husband's! No, it wasn't that I was hungry... Claire's food (and fresh juice) is irresistible! A+ food here. Don't miss it. Service was quick, even on a busy (Broncos game) day. Servers were polite and friendly; they recognized us the 2nd time we came in. Dogs welcome on the patio. Ignore the bad reviews... this place is AWESOME.

Breakfast was great. Walked up to a line waiting for a table. We were seating in less than 10 minutes. Served immediately. Banana nut French bread. HIGHLY recommend but enough to share.

How does this place only have 3 stars? The patio alone is worth that! Sunday brunch in spring while having their crab cake eggs Benedict and coffee!! Incredible! Cat was my server and she was wonderful and super polite. Definite brunch awesomeness!

The service was terrible and messed up our order multiple times. The food was mediocre and the servers seemed to have no idea what they were doing. I would not come back here again.

The view alone would get this place to 3 stars, beautiful. Mimosas were tasty. My husband got the breakfast burrito and he would order it again. I got the Cuban eggs Benedict with chipotle hollandaise which had a nice flavor but was not overpowering. Waiter was friendly and not too pricey. Overall a good choice.

Stopped in for breakfast and it was good. We got there around 7:30 and it was starting to fill up. So go early or expect a crowd. Very nice patio and staff was attentive. The food was good and plentiful. A good way to start your morning before heading off to Rocky Mountain National Park or heading home.

First off Siri sent us up a mountain road and told us to hike the rest of the way to the restaurant- stupid Siri! This restaurant is right in the middle of town square, by the town hall. No hiking involved lol The food was good, a little pricy but not bad. I ordered Estes park Benedict and my husband got the biscuit and gravy- yummy! The biscuits were fresh and tasted delicious. The bacon Bloody Mary is also worth getting :) the service was friendly. I would come again.

We arrived early for dinner since we wanted to get back to the hotel prior to the storm forecasted for the evening. The service was nice and fast. We started with the crab cakes. Not bad. Tasted more like salmon patties. We both ordered the Cajun tilapia. The mister opted for the sides of veggies and sweet potatoes and I had the veggies and side salad. Even tho I am on vaca, I am still trying to watch my caloric intake. They didn't offer any low-cal dressings, which really is unheard of nowadays. I ended up with the homemade ranch dressing... Like a fricken drug after being on the wagon for a while. Eyes rolling back good dressing, damn it. The veggies were cooked well and not mushy. The Cajun spice was not spicy at all so I ended up dousing it with cholula hot sauce. Huge portions, so easily enough to share a plate.

Nasty. Service was poor from when we walked in the door. Everything was sticky. Food was undercooked. Cold breakfast potatoes, cold sausage I sent back, English Muffin didn't even look toasted.

The more I think about this, the more disturbed I get. When we were there in person, they were very excited to work with my fiancee and I for our wedding brunch. When we phoned them a week later, we mentioned our names. I have a traditionally male name, but am female. My fiancee has a male name. Once they heard two people with traditionally male names were trying to have a wedding brunch for 20 people, they are booked for the entire month a full month a year in advance? We were not trying to rent out the whole place and the brinch would have been on a Tuesday. I'm pretty sure this place is an anti-LGBT. Fiancee and I will never go back there. Sure would love an explanation from them that suggests my understanding about them is wrong. Unti then, I suggest not supporting this business.k

Food was pretty good and filling. Also had the mimosas which were pretty good. Service was adequate even though it was extremely busy for a Sunday morning

Agree with previous comments that the patio alone should give this place at least 5 stars! We sat on the patio for breakfast Saturday morning with views of the mountains and the town. Absolutely gorgeous. The food is traditional breakfast stuff with a lot of choices. I got the roasted tomatoes Benedict which included avocado. It was great! Husband got a couple fried eggs, toast, nothing exciting but said it was good. Manager on site was very friendly and eager to please.

Went here for brunch. Bloody mary, eggs benedict (vegetarian version!), and patio were all awesome.

  • SamBob D.

Very disappointing. They nickel & dime you here like crazy. The prices are way too much for what you get, even the side items ($1.50 for MAYBE half a banana) and the portion sizes of meals are just too small. The coffee is exceedingly average and I could have saved two dollars by just using a keurig myself. The service was not great, the wait staff seemed more interested in hanging out and chatting with each other, dragging out my time at this place. The quality of the food was mediocre at best and they charged extra for gluten-free bread, more than most restaurants in Estes Park. Avoid Claire's, there are simply better options everywhere for breakfast, including McDonald's down tge street. Save yourself time and money, and make yourself more comfortable.

Sweet little spot for breakfast off the main square. There was a big crowd with the same idea, but even though we were told it was a 30 minute wait, we were seated quickly. Our waitress was great, and kept our coffee cups full despite our enthusiastic chug-a-lugging. Breakfast hit the spot. The waffles were thick and slightly crisp (yum!), and served with whipped butter. The bacon was HUGE- literally the thickest slices I have ever seen. I would love to come back next time we're in Estes Park!

The food was excellent. Our table enjoyed trout, French toast, biscuits and gravy, and corned beef hash. We went twice while in Estes Park. The first time we had great service and the second time our server seemed overwhelmed and was not attentive at all. Other than that I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great breakfast in Estes Park.

Wonderful meal on the deck outside. I am very surprised this is not a more highly rated restaurant. Best in Estes Park if you ask me. Excellent fries, great portobello mushroom chicken sandwich.

I was very disappointed with our visit to Claire's yesterday. It wasn't particularly busy yet our service was sub-par. Mainly because of our waitress - wait time between drinks, apps, ordering time was at least 15 minutes every time. She would forget to bring our drinks we had ordered - more than once. We had to ask to get silverware and napkins. The food was good - no complaints about its quality. However, it was priced on the higher end of what you'd expect at a cafe. With that cost, I would think the service at the restaurant would be better organized. After waiting for the check a really long time - we had to send it back for being incorrect. It came out a SECOND time also incorrect. We had to go inside to find a manager. The manager was unconcerned about our poor service. She took 15 minutes to correct check with no real empathy for the 45 minutes we had spent since first requesting a check. I will not be returning to Claire's.

I really would never return to this restaurant. The hostess and waitress were nice, but the food was really bad with lots of canned things instead of fresh, and it tasted like it. PLus the atmosphere was terrible. Really, the owners should rethink the copper tabletops because the whole place smells like blood. Super appetizing....

Dinner was fabulous. The dish presentation was beautiful and the food absolutely delicious. Chef is fantastic. Service was great. We also had breakfast here and it was fabulous. This was the 2nd year in a row that we have been to the restaurant. Consistently great!

My husband and I went to Claire's after a weekend staying at the YMCA. The place was busy, however not loud. Claire's doesn't have a lot of tables but during the off season in February, you don't need many. Mainly locals with their newspapers on a Sunday morning and some tourists that are enjoying a last day in town. I had the trout breakfast with hollandaise on the side. It was perfect. Mix that with some 1/2 price mimosa's and coffee. It was a PERFECT morning! Staff was lovely, price was good and for a nice Sunday morning, it was a satisfying meal. (I wrote this on another account but am now moving it to my main one)

I thought this was a breakfast-only sort of place, but happened upon them at lunch. Great service. Great food. This would be my go-to American style restaurant in Estes Park.

Food is mediocre at best as you would expect from a place that is overrun by tourists as it sets out to be. Service is atrocious.

Want some simple and tasty breakfast food? Clare's is your place. Great location and awesome patio (I didn't get to enjoy it since it was cold the day I visited-darn!). Service was quick and the food was just what you'd expect. We tried the French toast and Rocky Mountain Benedict and both were good. Will it rock your world? Probably not. But for a decent morning meal it's worth a visit.

Charming spot with a flowery mountain garden just off of the main drag- Adorable! You can eat inside or out, enjoy the views... However, the food is only so so, the service is only so so, and we have one incidence of violent food poisoning from this restaurant so we won't go back. We ate breakfast here three or four times- it was fine. Just fine. When we ate dinner here, my daughter got violently ill after eating the salmon special and was sick for 48 hours. Unfortunately, for us that is a reason to never go back, which is a shame, because the spot is adorable.

We were quoted a 10-15 min wait and waited more than 30 minutes, stay clear if you're on a time constraint!! There were so many empty tables, horrible staff service!

We come up to Estes park all the time and this is the first time here. I thought it being mid day on a Saturday, we wouldn't get in or have a long wait. Not the case, the staff was friendly, the place was neat and orderly. Food was good and I was pleasantly surprise. I will come back again.

This little restaurant is so wonderful. Service was excellant. The food we ordered was brought very quickly and was so good. I had Fish Taco's. The sauce and flavor of the grilled fish was excellant. It came with a little salad. One of the best flavored Fish Taco's I've had in a long time. My husband had Chicken Salad on a Coissant which came with a Roasted Red Pepper Soup. WOW!! Fantastic flavor. I heard someone say that the breakfast here is also wonderful. We will go back for that also.

We stumbled upon Claire's and decided to give it a try. We have had very hit or miss experiences with restaurants in Estes Park, so we were not expecting too much. The place is very charming inside and out and the waitstaff are very friendly and helpful. The menu was diverse and had something for everyone, which is a nice thing when you have people in you group with varied tastes. Service was fast and efficient, and we were never left wanting for anything. The food was delicious. The benedicts had the best hollandaise sauce I have ever tasted. We will definitely visit Claire's again the next time we are in Estes Park.

2pm: The food was really bad...like greasy spoon in Nebraska bad. And we paid a lot for it! I wish there were a few decent restaurants in Estes Park. 8pm:...I've returned to leave a comment about our lunch at Claire's. My kids and I got pretty sick tonight. I think the cook should be forced to eat his own food for a few days. *ralph*

The people here are very friendly and very accomadating to those with disablities. Its a bit hidden off of main street if you are not looking for it, but it's a great place to go to hide from the rain. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We ordered the crab cakes, they were decent for being in the mountains, they were moist and easy to digest.

  • Michael D.

The service was so great even though they were slammed from it being a free day for getting into the NP. The food was not so good. My wife said her eggs tasted like dish water. I wanted a side salad with my pulled pork sandwich. It was $.99 if I skipped the side that usually came with the sandwich or $4.99 if I still wanted my side. All of the sides available were around $4.99 or a little less. That seems excessive for things like garlic mash potatoes and potato salad. I opted to skip the side and had a pretty good side salad. But when my sandwich came the pulled pork was extremely dry. Also, on my plate with the sandwich was enough salad fixings for another full side salad. I guess I didn't know to ask what to expect with the sandwich. Another suggestion is offer two kinds of BBQ sauce. I am sure the KC style sugar BBQ sauce was great but having the choice of a vinegar bases sauce would make the dry pork palatable.

Ugh, I so want to give this place a good review. The food just isn't that stellar though. Let's say this with the disclaimer that all the food choices I've found in Estes leave you wondering where the quality food is. You'd think that vacationers would be willing to spend during their visit; perhaps the place to go isn't in downtown? Service = pretty good. Food = adequate, didn't seem to be particularly healthy or have an emphasis on quality ingredients (not that I think those two necessarily go together). I thought the prep and presentation was good though. You can sit inside or outside here, both seemed reasonable options. My bottom line - walk downtown, if you don't see anything that seems good enough (how many burgers and pubs do you want to eat at?), give this place a try. Maybe I just put my finger on it - people aren't looking for a full sit-down meal when visiting?

This restaurant has 3 qualities that can be attributed to a successful eatery: Friendly Staff; from greeters to servers everyone had a smile and was friendly. Great Food! I ordered the crab cakes for breakfast...it changed my life. Delicious! Clean Environment; because food tastes better when the restaurant is clean. Haha. Great experience, we'll definitely be back next time we pass through Estes!

The service was fantastic, waitress and host were both polite and attentive. With that said, the food was some of the worst i have had in a very long time. The coffee was horrible, worse then what you find at most gas stations. I ordered a eggs benidict and it was covered with watery hollandaise and pools of oil. It was borderline inedible, and i took most of it home to give to the dogs. The potatoes it came with were just your basic deep fried breakfast potatoes but by far the most appetizing thing on the table. As good as the service was, the food was so bad that i will not be back, and i live only a short drive from estes park. As a professional cook myself, i do not eat out much and places like this are why. I have no sympathy for a kitchen that can't even prepare simple breakfast food.

I was so excited to try this cute little place for breakfast on our last day in Estes Park, the only thing I can say is don't do it!! I had barely edible eggs benedict and my husband had the prime rib and eggs. Both of them were terrible!! We couldn't even stomach the idea of finishing our food so we paid our bill and left hungry.

Cool spot. Good bar that is close to the hotel area. Food was fresh. Waitress's was attentive. I had the beef barley soup which was quite good. Wife had BBQ sandwich served on some fancy bread. She liked it. The also has hot cider which was good.

We went back to Estes Park and tried Claire's again on a cool and windy day.( maybe it is always cool and windy here). Again we had a very good lunch. I had a great burger and my wife had the veggie wrap again. Both were very tasty. Everything was delicious and service was excellent.

My husband and I were looking forward to finding a cute breakfast spot in downtown Estes, so of course when we spotted Claire's on the Park, we walked right over. It seemed to be quite busy, but we were promptly seated and we were told our sever would be with us shortly. A solid 20 minutes went by and not a single person acknowledged us or asked if we had been helped. There were several waitstaff who walked right pass our table. My husband and I decided to leave after 25 minutes and take our money and time else where.

As pretty regular visitors to Estes Park, we've tried a lot of the restaurants. We've decided Claire's is now in our rotation for all future visits. Both times we've ordered burgers and we've been quite happy with them. We admit to being burger snobs and these are very good. And we especially liked the battered fries that we ordered as a side. Probably some of the best fries I've had in the last few years. It's just so hard to find good fries anymore. The sweet potato fries were pretty good, but we'd probably just get the regular fries next time. Haven't tried breakfast yet. Actually, we intentionally wait for lunchtime so we can order the burgers. See ya next trip, Claire's!

We ate here and enjoyed our experience overall. It was a little more expensive, however the Bloody Mary alone made everything worthwhile. It has BAKON vodka in it (and a bacon strip). Yum! I had the mountain trout baked (lemon pepper flavoring). It was not over or undercooked, which was delightful. I do like to eat the skin, but stopped after I found a scale and some pin bones. I stopped eating it and had no problems after that. Hubby got a cheeseburger. He said it was good, but not special in any way. Mom had mushroom spaghetti. She wished there was more spaghetti, but still enjoyed it. Dad got the salmon. He enjoyed it, no complaints. Service was good, drinks were good, food was pretty good, but I do wish that the fans above the tables were clean. It seemed as if months of dust was caked on them and I kept hoping none of it floated down into the food.

My husband and I went to this place for breakfast. The service was fantastic! We never had to ask for refills and the food came out very quickly. I had an omelet and my husband the French toast. Everything tastes amazing. The best part besides the food was that the pricing was very reasonable. We plan on going back before we leave Estes.

Decent bar/grill fare. The have some gluten free options. The brisket sandwich was flavorful but dry, and the sweet potato fries were a bit cold and limp. The Reuben sandwiches and onion rings got rave reviews. Their BBQ sauce was my favorite part, set and spicy! A bit pricey for the quality.

I wasn't really hungry, so ordered the turkey wrap with potato salad. It was still a lot of food with two large BLT type wraps & a generous portion of potato salad. The food tasted good. This is a large, casual restaurant that is very popular.

We really enjoyed eating at Claire's during our weekend away from the city. As a vegetarian and pescatarian, they had many options for us and were happy to substitute as needed. The food was delicious and came in good time. Our waitress, and the rest of the staff for that matter, were very attentive and pleasant. They greeted us as we arrived, thanked us as we left, made sure our cups were filled and that we enjoyed everything but didn't come by so frequently it was overbearing. 2 for 1 mimosas were a win. Somehow I drank that, coffee, ate a chocolate chip waffle, two eggs and potatoes. All of this on top of the cleanliness of the facility and calm atmosphere earns Claire's another pair of long term customers. We will be back next time were in Estes!

  • Jessica B.

This was ok. We had ordered a Philly cheese sandwich with fries and a pulled pork and cheese burger with fries. You could tell the fries were frozen. The burger was dry and over cooked. The the cheese steak was very bland. The place was very crowded. They have crammed as many tables as they could. Hard to walk around and very loud

Group of us went here the morning after our friends wedding and they were MORE than accommodating. The service was great and the server did a great job with the chaos that was our group. The breakfast burrito with green chili was pretty good. Their bacon Bloody Mary was fantastic and will be stopping by again for another one the next time I am in town.

We visited this restaurant after a day trip up to RMNP. Initially I was skeptical when we walked in because there were only a few other people eating (granted, it was only 4 in the afternoon) but by the end of our meal we were impressed! The waitress was friendly and the food was brought out in a timely manner. We both had the hamburger and it was delicious! The fries were fresh and the portions were large (which was great because we had been walking/hiking all day). I would highly recommend visiting this establishment.

  • Leslie O.

The food isn't terrible overall, just overpriced for what you get at breakfast. The breakfast burrito will likely come with red sauce even if you order green. That sauce has the consistency of canned soup and a flavor far from that of a good, fresh salsa. The potatoes are good at least.

Will never return here! Maybe it was an 'off' day for them, but the staff was incredibly rude! The two servers clearing tables out on the patio looked like they would rather be getting stung by hornets, and the tall-ish gentlemen with an iPad strapped to his hands couldn't have been more loud and disrespectful if he tried. I'd pass on Clarie's and get quality food & service right down the road.

I used to love diners, and if I had gone to Claire's then, I would have given it 4 or 5 stars. But now, Claire's Colorado version of diner food was too heavy for me. From the outside, Claire's looks like a cool hippy-style restaurant, which was more what we were in the mood for. But once inside, the furnishings and approach was more standard, and the views weren't really available. We went for breakfast during the winter, so couldn't sit outside. At 10:30, they had the blinds drawn against the outside sun, so although the restaurant would have had nice views if the blinds were open, with them closed it was more like a rectangle cave for the person facing the back. I got the South of the Border omelet, because I wanted green chili. I shouldn't have bothered - the sparse chilis were pretty obscured by some ketchuppy salsa. I guess I was expecting eggs smothered in green chilis, but the smothering was done by melted cheese - more heaviness. The whipped butter was nice with the English muffin. So-so home fries, nothing special, little uniform cubes. Coffee was standard weak diner coffee. Bright spot was all the servers, from the friendly hostess to our wonderful waitress, who was just the right amount of attentive. Claire's wasn't awful or anything - if you're looking for a good old diner, Claire's may do you just great.

Staff was great, friendly, quick and helpful. Environment was great, location is great. Always love to take a trip up and check out any new work at the studio a few doors down. I had an Omelette and a bloody mary and I can't say that anything with my order was really that good. The omelette was just scrambled eggs with ham mixed in and then a piece of cheese thrown on top afterwards. It had the ingredients there to make it good, but it wasn't. The home fries with it weren't that good, I've had equally as good from the freezer aisle. The drink was fair. It tasted as if I was drinking a mix that was to be blended, the spice kick was brutal. I've had spicy and liked it,but never like this.

We had the girl with foreign accent never got her name cuz she never told us! When we finally got our food my breakfast burrito was cold to the point of not even being room temperature, my boyfriend ordered something with the potatoes and you could tell they were made hours prior!!! Sorry but no one likes anything cold that has anything to do with fries or breakfast potatoes! When she took my burrito back it came back with a fingerprint on the top as if someone did not believe it wasn't hot, i could only hope they were wearing gloves, just disgusting!! At the end when we paid we put 44.00 in the book on a bill that was 23.86. She walked by and asked if we needed change, sorry but you don't ever do that you bring back the exact change owed and the customer decides what they are going to tip you. We put 24.00 and an extra 20.00 for change for a tip she brought back a 10 and 2 5's even if I tipped her 15% that's not even 4 bucks so then we had to ask someone else for change. Oh and by the way she didn't even bring back all of our change just the bills!! Been coming here for years and will never come back.

Hawaiian French toast was amazing. Good coffee and great view in the morning. Definitely would come back here. Mimosa was half off!!

Deeply average. Nothing special, nothing terrible. Service was casual. Our omelettes were cooked pretty well, but didn't have much flavor. We shared the vegetarian omelette and a cheese omelette. Potatoes were okay. Toast arrived slathered in about an inch of butter - maybe that's okay for you, but it was too much for me. Everything was just okay, except the price, which was a little steep for what we had. I was chatting with a couple of Texans later about breakfast at Claire's, and they said, what do you expect? Estes Park is overpriced in general; it's a tourist town. I said, yeah, but, if I'm going to pay Chicago prices, I want really tasty food, and we didn't get that at Claire's. The server came by a couple of times. She never smiled at us. She did say good morning. She never checked to see if we liked our food, or if we needed anything else (that's a big server's mistake - you pass up the opportunity to sell more food/drink and increase the bottom line, hence increasing your tip). We had to sit for a while, staring off into space, before she reappeared to give us our check. There were only 3 other tables occupied for a weekday breakfast, so it wasn't like she was slammed. I started out rating Claire's at 3 stars, but after reading my own review, I took it down to 2 stars. We had breakfast at Claire's our first morning in Estes Park. That breakfast did not prompt us to return to Claire's during the rest of our stay. Did not, and will not, return.

We had dinner here this evening and the food and service were both excellent! Definitely worth trying.....I heard they have a new chef and I hope they keep him forever. My daughter had the Grilled pork chop, with scalloped potatoes and fresh green beans, the potatoes are to die for and the pork chop was perfect! I had the Fat tire battered fish and chips and they also were amazing! They have a pretty amazing bacon bloody mary too.....Our waitress was very nice and checked back often to make sure everything was good.

this quaint looking spot is located just on the edge of the outskirts of the little tourist town. however, if you're looking for a place to dine, this one should be avoided. ATMOSPHERE. if you didn't bother to read what i said about eating here, you should at least have a seat outside. the scenery is magnificent. CUISINE. when you unfold a menu and you see 63 selections, what's the first thing that runs through your mind? for me, it's the feeling that none of them can be great. a few of them might be good... and mostly, you should stick to something fried, just to be safe. i didn't bother following my intuition and ended up with a pulled pork sandwich. it was edible. VALUE. prices are as you would expect in a tourist town. you have to increase each fare by 25% to account for the air you get to breathe -- because it's definitely not for the quality. OVERALL. the service, while they were serving you, was fine. getting seated was prompt. it was pretty funny since the hostess had to don her sunglasses each time she took patrons to the outdoor seating area. it wasn't that bright. seriously. we waited for well over 30 minutes to get our entrees. we watched as other tables seated much later than us were served. this is a sign of a kitchen that has far too much variety on their menu. it was pretty frustrating, actually. i guess when you get to sit outdoors, nestled in a quaint mountain town, surrounded by scenery you don't get at home, it's easy to overlook the little things... like taste, value, service.

Great breakfast! Best I had all week. The service was very good, we sat on the patio which was very pleasant. The food was superb - Crab cake eggs benedict, hash browns and hollandaise sauce; my bride, traditional eggs over-easy, fruit and hash browns. Everything was perfectly cooked and served straight off the grill - hot! as it should be... Heading back tomorrow AM for another breakfast before we head for home.

I enjoyed breakfast here so much that I came back for seconds the next day. My waffle and thick slab bacon with eggs was delicious. The staff was personable and as a solo diner, I was seated in the booth with a view of Long's Peak. Claire's takes the time to not only serve delicious food, but to make a traveler feel welcome. Definitely worth the visit.

Enjoyed the food and location but the waitress made the whole experience miserable. She was not the only one with a bad attitude. We also experienced a flippant condescending attitude from other staff members.

Just driving through town and chose Claire's. Not sure about these other reviews but our meal was awesome! Mountain Benedict was perfect. The ribs were literally fall off the bone. I didn't use my fingers once. The smoke flavor was something my ex always strived for! Definitely recommend Claire's and will come back for sure.

Breakfast this morning - we were seated right away, inside even though there was a table for 2 unoccupied and set up outside. Very busy place, which should bode well, right? Our less-than-cheery waitress (frankly, nobody on the staff seemed particularly happy to be there) pretty much demanded that we order on her first approach, which was fine because we'd been seated for about 8 minutes at that point, so had plenty of time to peruse the menu. Two diners, two dishes....the arrival of which we then anticipated for 30 minutes. The cranky waitress came by and refilled our coffee once during this wait, about 20 minutes in, reporting to us curtly that the kitchen was really backed up. In reply to my question as to how much longer, she spat out, "I don't know." And then walked off. When our food finally arrived, my burrito had red sauce instead of the green chili I had ordered, but at that point, I didn't have the energy or desire to complain, wait another 30 minutes, get pushback, or anything else that might not bode well for my culinary journey. Food was good - not great but good. And not good enough for the unpleasant service experience.

On our second time through Estes Park we stopped here for lunch, not expecting much. Everything we ordered was delicious. We shared a robust club sandwich with fresh ingredients, homemade beef barley soup with large chunks of meat and not too much salt, garlic mashed potatoes with just the right amount of texture, and a rich chocolate mousse to finish. The service was lovely, plenty of natural light and spacious booths. We'd return any time we happen to blow through.

Visiting from Pennsylvania, I took the recommendation of a local to try Claire's. My server was charming and attentive. I ordered a mushroom soup that was satisfactory and the portion was better than average. I then had fish tacos. The portion was a bit small, but the fish chunks inside were fantastic! I was happy with the flavor, I just hoped they were larger or more of them for the price. I would return, for sure.

Yea, sorry Claire, but it wasn't great. I had the blackened chicken sandwich. I didn't choose wisely. The chicken breast (or half breast?) was beaten too thin and was over cooked. I mentioned how thin the chicken breast was to my wife and she commented; "it must be tender". "Yea, you'd think"; I replied. She took a bite and chewed and chewed and chewed and chewed and... well I'm tired of writing that over and over and over... oh, sorry. My wife chose more wisely. She did like her meal. Now Claire, when you are overrun by guests coming from the glow parade last year, consider that it might happen again this year. The whole place just fell apart when about 50 people walked in the door immediately after the parade. Trust me, I've spent plenty of years in this business. This was a lot, but it wasn't unmanageable. All the customers could have enjoyed their time there rather than what happened. They actually admitted to us that the same thing happened last year. Oh, and please, I know you were in a hurry, but stir the powdered hot chocolate mix a little more. Hitting those floating pockets of undissolved powder was unexpected and unpleasant. For what I paid for that drink, I should have been able to enjoy it. If you're in the same position as us, where all the restaurants have an hour long wait, so you start to look for a place just off the main street. If you can walk right into Claire's, do it, just know what to expect.

I have breakfast here at least once while in Estes Park. I always order the waffle with fresh strawberries and whipped cream and it is always is just what I need before a day of hiking. I have never once had to wait for a table and the service is always on point. It is a little more expensive than your average breakfast joint but feel it is worth the quality of food and service you get. I have tried most all of the other breakfast places in Estes and this is by far my favorite.

In town for the Rocky Mountain National Park tour of certain trails. Came to Estes Park to see the town and get something to eat. Came upon Claire's and had a good meal and a good view. We sat outside in mid-afternoon on a warm day. The food choices were many and the meal was not disappointing. Worth a visit. It was good.

My boyfriend and i had breakfast here last weekend. It is now our favorite breakfast spot in Estes Park. I had the Estes Benedict, the eggs were cooked perfectly, topped with artichoke hearts, tomatoes, and asparagus hollandaise.....so good! My boyfriend had scrambled eggs, bacon, and potatoes. The bacon was VERY flavorful. He decided to order a side pancake, great decision.....it was the size of the dinner plate it was served on.....and was delicious.

This place has nothing special going for it..... We stop for breakfast on the way to a hike. It was convenient and open. The food was okay. The service was good. The atmosphere was as if a dinner and sports bar had a restaurant. I'd was say it's one step up from a chain. That said it may have other things going for it later in the day, but I'm sure the food still lacks any lovin'. I'd eat here again, but not before trying other places in Estes Park.

When going here, you better pack your patience. We went there for breakfast. We were seated pretty quickly and ordered right after we sat down. However, it took over 30 minutes for us to get our food. We watched people who were seated after us get their food before us. Our waitress, although very nice, we hardly saw her. She never acknowledged us having to wait for our food. The food was average for what the prices were. I won't be going back.

Chose to eat here because it is local. Poor choice. Vegetables on the Benedict were canned and flavorless. My family's meals also lacked flavor and freshness. For the price we expected more. Will choose the chain down the street next time. Unfortunate experience.

We thought this place looked kind of cute from the curb and decided to try it for the 6 of us in mid-afternoon. While the food was edible, it sure didn't have any WOW! factor at all. Prices were rather steep, but of course, it IS Estes Park. Everyone in my party had various sandwiches, and everyone agreed that everything was OK.....service was OK but really-should have been GREAT, considering there were just two other tables filled while we were there. While I was dining, I started thinking about how I'd review this on Yelp. Omigosh--what does that mean!? Aggghhh! Must be getting hooked on Yelp...?

DISCLAIMER: I am not a local. The Good: :: there is plenty of seating, inside and outside :: seems like a place even locals go to :: very friendly staff :: breakfast is good! :: clean :: good sides :: located off the main road, which was nice b/c there were fewer tourists there than the other restaurants on elkhorn (main artery through estes park) The Bad: :: the trout wasn't amazing, and it should be, considering it's caught there in the rocky mountain waters. the trout was a bit overbaked :: service was a little slow, even though the restaurant wasn't completely crowded The Ugly: :: none. Would I go back? Probably. The service was friendly, and the fact that it was off the main street made for a nicer, less touristy experience. This place is IN.

Do not go here if a member of your party has food allergies. The waitress was totally unhelpful when i tried to ask her to help me figure out something that was safe for my 9-year-old daughter to eat (main allergies are to dairy and eggs). I finally convinced my daughter to just have the corn chips and salsa and we'd go somewhere else to get her a meal. Then the waitress came back from the kitchen and said she couldn't even serve us the chips because "they came in a bag that didn't have the ingredients on it." How can a restaurant not know what ingredients are in the food it is serving (especially when it claims the chips are homemade)? As I was leaving, I talked to the manager, and his excuse was that "there are a lot of liabilities that come with serving people with food allergies" so that is why apparently they teach their servers/cooks not to serve people who have allergies. This is ridiculous. Also, the food is overpriced and my Chicken Parmesan tasted okay (pretty salty) but looked terrible, and there is dirty carpet in the interior.

So disappointed as this looked from the outside like a winner. The menu is pretty average and uninspired, but the service was dreadful. Our waiter ignored us for awhile, finally took our order, and then delivered the appetizer with the warning that "better eat this fast, your entree is almost ready." Then, we waited forever again for drink refills. The search continues for a decent lunch in Estes.

While on our way out of town we could smell the BBQ from Claire's and it lured us inside. We tried the brisket and the pork sandwiches, with fries. The patio was quite nice, our waitress was not pleasant per se, but fine -- very business-like. The beef was good, real tender brisket with a real smoke ring, not too dry and not fatty. The sauce was an average Western tomato based sauce, but it was tasty. The pork was good, moist and a lot of it. The fries were nothing great, i think they are the same seasoned fries you can get at any IHOP or Denny's. Soda/water/lemonade comes in a giant plastic cup (remember to hydrate at elevation, kids!)

Mother's day was great in Estes, eating at Claire's was a great experience too ! Husband, self and two children dined here for a Mothers day lunch. I had the burger with fresh avocado, bacon and cheese. The bacon was so thick and crunchy, yumm! The avocado was also freshly sliced and perfectly ripe. The fries, very good too! My husband had the fish tacos, he said they were very good. We each had a dinner salad, i had the homemade blue cheese, well done Claire! Kids grilled cheese was very cheesy and on whole wheat bread. Nice bar area, draft was fat tire, blue moon and coors. Red diamond wine, one of my favs was on special. Our server was very attentive, very nice and professional. Owner was making rounds making sure everything was good. Very good experience !

We went for breakfast. The place is clean and neat, nothing fancy about it. The price is the same as the other restaurants around here, but they give you "HUGE" portions which makes it a better value. We had great service, the food was good, and we had no complaints. Give it a try for breakfast at the minimum. KC from Austin, TX

Wow bad - where to start. We're hungry so ate early at 5:15 - so we're the only ones in the restaurant. Server brought wine out - couldn't open it, got the bar to do that. Then she just sets it on the table and walks off. The main courses were all bad. Steak was overlooked, spaghetti sauce tasted like it was from can, and some fettucini was just plain bad. The desserts looked good by their descriptions but we didn't dare. Went to DQ instead - but that is another story for another review. After two bad meals in two nights, I am convinced that Estes Park is the worst food place in America. We'd been better off eating fast food, but I always try to give locals a chance - big mistake in Estes Park.

I don't recommend the prime rib sandwich. Service sucked and we were rushed out the door without being offered dessert BEFORE closing time. Also, the Brie was flavorful but not easy to eat and we were not given any extra plates. By the time our waitress came around we had already eaten it.

Had tomato bisque very very bland. French fries were awesome. Loved that when I asked for hot tea they served a basket to choose from. Service was fine but really felt it was overpriced for quality of food. Won't go back.

2 stars for the food. 3 stars for the porch. There was line, but the place was half empty because of a waitress shortage. Would I have handled it differently? you betcha. Explain the delay yes, but sit people down, get them a water or coffee, and let them linger over the menu. But they didn't ask me. We both ordered Benedict with asparagus and artichoke hearts. The plate was huge, but what good is huge when it's full of mediocre food? The eggs were poached perfectly, but the canned asparagus was a big disappointment. The Benedict was smothered in about a quart of hollandaise, and based on the canned vegetables, I'm guessing it's from a package mix. The potatoes, crispy and uniform, had a suspiciously "food service" look about them. Unless I get a craving for Sysco flavors, I'll keep walkin' by this place.

While in town for the Scandinavian Festival we were SO happy to find a restaurant close by that wasn't the greasy food offered at the festival -AND- they have beer (and booze) unlike the festival. We expected Estes Park prices but really, $10 for a burger isn't bad no matter where you are. Food, service, and location are all good, even with the busy weekend we were there. We had the pleasure of spending a lot of time at the bar chatting with Claire herself and will absolutely be returning!

This place is alright, went for breakfast. It's right downtown so it's convenient when walking around looking for a place to eat. Was a little to cool and windy to sit outside. Had to squeeze five of us into a booth because they wouldn't let us have a bigger table that sat empty the whole time we were there. I had biscuits and gravy and they were alright, not great. The bloody mary was good. Next time I'm in Estes Park there are other places I'd rather eat at than Claire's again.

    (2)
  • Michael H.

Not bad. The service was a little slower than expected considering it was pretty early and there weren't many people there yet. The food wasn't terrible, but pretty subpar. I got an omelette and my eggs were slightly burnt. Overall I wasn't dissatisfied but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.

Ok service, food was awful. Eggs Benedict Estes Park used canned asparagus, old artichoke hearts, minute sliver of avocado, tasteless hollandaise. Serve with fhash browns I would have enjoyed better from the freezer of my grocery store. Nice view, nice people, poor quality food.

Beautiful little breakfast spot right off main square in Estes Park. Large mimosas and fairly basic breakfast options. Took the waitstaff awhile to figure out who our table belonged to, but once our oder was taken, food arrived promptly. Again, very basic breakfast, but no better way to start the day then with a mimosa on the front porch and sweeping views of the Rockies all around you.

After a horrible dinner this was an awesome turn around first thing in the morning, well almost noon I will admit. The homemade split pea soup was heavenly and the dinner salad was large and filling. The belgian waffle and eggs looked sooooo delicious and my BF ate it up too quick to even try to taste. The restaurant was clean, service was good and the atmosphere was calm and welcoming. We will be back : )

The restaurants in these little tourist towns almost always disappoint. We waited at least 15 minutes before even being acknowledged. A nice waitress came over and took us over as a charity case since our waiter was "busy with a big table." We waited another 35-40 minutes before finally getting our food. The manager apologized but then said our order had only been in "20 minutes," in effect invalidating her apology. The food was not memorable or worth the wait. We will never return, even though we'd made it a camping tradition.

Great breakfast place in Estes Park. The French Toast Supreme is amazing! Delicious French toast with eggs cooked the way you want and bacon or sausage. And the price was very reasonable. Would definitely recommend Claire's and go back again the next time I visit!

I'd give it two stars but for the good server and crab benedict. Claire's was recommended by my cousin who was getting married this past weekend. We had a reservation for up to 14 made by another cousin. Alas, they lost that information but they were almost dead at 10 am on a Saturday so it didn't take all that long to set up a table for us. Someone said that the first weekend in June is not peak season. Surprised the hell out of me. This place is full of hits and misses. Hits: * Thank you yelpers! I had the Crab Benedict and it was delicious. * We had four kids with us and their food was brought out before ours so they didn't get grumpy. * Our waiter was friendly and rather efficient. Didn't do the best with drinks but overall he was a hit for the group. Misses: * The kids' pancakes were difficult to cut with a knife. * The veggie omelet had too much cheese. * A lot of their outdoor seating is in the sun. Instead of returning here, I would head over to The Other Side in a heartbeat. Even with a wait for seating there.

No, no, and no. Although I gather from the other reviews that this is more of a breakfast place, which is why I'm giving it the two-star benefit of the doubt. I went for dinner after a day hiking in RMNP - we came down to town at the exact wrong moment - when everyone else did - and we were starving. Every place in town was overrun with people wait times were outrageous. My trusty cell phone and yelp led me to Claire's, slightly set back from the main drag in a yellow house. It looks really cute on the outside, but once you are in, the furniture is dreadful patio furniture, in the dining room as well as on the patio. Service was very friendly, and my house salad was fancy mixed greens with lots of veggies as opposed to the usual brown at the edges wedge o' iceberg. But that's about it. I had the brisket, it was average. My dining companions had the fettucine alfredo, veggie sandwich, and I forget what else. It just didn't stand out to me as a place I ever need to return to. Sorry Claire's.

The view from the porch is incredible. You can see the mountains to one side, and a stone hut and nature trail to the other. The food was average, ordinary breakfast food. I had a yogurt & fruit parfait, pretty normal. My husband had Estes Park Benedict, with artichoke hearts and tomatoes. Nicely flavored, but on the runny side.

  • Kathy B.

My husband and I decided to give Claire's another try. He had eggs benedict this time and did not like the sauce. I had biscuits with sausage gravy on and hash browns....thought it was very good. The coffee was lousy. Served from those sort of plastic "keep coffee warm" containers, my coffee was barely warm, the waitress nuked it for me and then it was better. The coffee also was very expensive for a small cup and not good coffee. If I'm going to be charged a lot for coffee I want super good hot coffee!

After work I like to have a glass of wine and a home-cooked meal. Once a week or so, I meet my husband at Claire's and that is just what I get! She has a nice, basic wine list and some really good normal food entrees. It is reliably good. My favorites are chicken dijon and tilapia in white wine sauce. I usually get mashed potatoes and steamed veggies. Yum! The chicken marsala is nice, too. My husband starts with the soup and it is always delicious. He gets a beef dish of some kind, and yes, often fries. The selection of sides is varied, but I am a creature of habit. We eat out in Estes at least 3 nights a week. The night at Claire's is the one I look forward to. I would say "As good as it gets in Estes Park!"

I finally received an apology and a list of the ingredients of the food I had that made me break out in a rash. I am increasing the number of stars from 1 to 2. I'm not giving more stars because the service was bad and the food was just ordinary. Also because I had to ask for an apology to receive one.

The food was mediocre to bad. The reason I describe it to way is because my food was decent I had the longs peak which is a omelet served with green peppers, onions and ham a side of potatoes. My wife's food on the other hand was not. She ordered scrambled eggs and a waffle with bacon. The waffle was over cooked like the bacon and eggs. We asked for the eggs to be replaced as they were not pleasing to the palette. The other items were bearable. The replacement eggs we asked for were supposed to be over medium but they were browned and very hard. When our waiter came with the check we complained to him about the meal, he went and brought back his manager who had a very negative attitude and explained to us that we had ordered over medium eggs which are prepared browned. The waiter was nice but the manager needed a course in proper customer service.

I would have only given Claire's two stars but my wife really liked their french toast. We ate there twice for breakfast and the food was okay at best. The coffee is dreadful. Weird things set me off. I was annoyed by Claire's because they have banners saying they have "prime ribs," and on their specials board it said the soup was "lential." Okay, so that's about as minor a whine as you can get... Anyway, the french toast is quite good. It's made from Hawaiian bread which really holds up to the batter well. They have a variety of eggs benedict dishes and the one I had was okay. The hollandaise was a little thick and they had thick patties of sausage that were a bit too much. The side potatoes were plain, dry potato cubes that had almost no seasoning. They tasted like the potatoes you get in a supermarket freezer. The next time I had a Denver omelet (they actually don't call them Denver omelets in Colorado, it seems) that was very dry, the eggs were somewhat overcooked and they oddly melted the cheese over the omelet instead of cooking the cheese into it. The bacon was dry and plastic-like. Not a horrible place but one I wouldn't run back to unless my wife wants french toast again.

A decent breakfast experience that is up-to-par with chain places like IHOP or Denny's. I compare it to chains because while it is good, it is nothing spectacular. Their breakfast potatoes are good and fresh, and they had some good scrambled eggs. My biscuits and gravy was very average however. Service was OK. Overall I would recommend, but I plan to try out some other places for breakfast in Estes Park.

Stopped into this place on our way through the town. The town is a bit of a tacky tourist spot and so needed just a good, normal, food place. Claire's delivered. Very well executed diner food and service was very good. When it comes down to it that is what matters.

  • Dave B.

This place is solid -- not exceptional, but not terrible. We stopped here for lunch after visiting RMNP. We had a nice table outside on the patio under an umbrella. They have a standard selection of sandwiches, wraps, salads, plus a kids menu. Service was very good, though it took a while to find the server to pay the bill.

We ate breakfast here on our last day in Estes Park. The food was pretty good, but I had had my fill of eggs over the past few days so I went with the biscuits and gravy. Good choice tastewise, but not for my overall health! The bloody mary hit the spot. The only complaint I have is the atmosphere. We sat outside and it was a pretty blah area.

The food was unsatisfying here. I order the turkey melt and it was sandwich meat. My wife ordered a salad and was unimpressed. Just don't expect much. The service was fine

Good service and food. Recommend the mimosas and nice selection of eggs Benedict options. I would request less sauce next time but it was yummy.
