Not one to go straight to the this place sucks card and I'm not going to here. But suffice it to say that I won't be back again. When I first came in I grabbed a seat and sat there for about 10 minutes before someone finally asked if I had been helped yet. Not the way to start it off. But i figured what the hell, it's a small diner. It will get better. No. It did not. I ordered the special - the steak and eggs - and asked for the steak to be medium well and no hash browns. I received TONS of hash browns - whatever, I can over look that. Strike 1. But the steak was grossly under cooked and still rather cool inside. Definitely not cooked the way I wanted it. Strike 2. Evening the toast was kind of fucked up. Super dry I.e., no butter on it. Strike 3. When the waitress finally came back by to see how things were I had resolved that I wasn't going to eat the steak. She looked down and asked if I wanted a to go box. Ummmm, no. So, no good review from me. And most definitely no return visit. Personally, can't recommend them.

If you are looking for a nice, cozy, comfy, "Welcome, Come On In" type place, then Stone Creek Cafe is it! I can't even begin to tell you how many times I have driven by this place over the years. I've always told myself, that I would stop in one day, as there are always plenty of cars parked outside. Well, since my Dad has moved close by (since my mother passed away), I figured, we might as well give it a shot. I'm very glad we did! Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, you can't make a mistake with any of them. We've had breakfast, lunch, and dinner here, and all three have been good. I am a sucker for just good bacon and eggs, and Stone Creek Cafe has some good ones! I always order "crispy bacon," as I don't like the kind that still taste like it never touched the pan. Some places, when I order "crispy bacon," the waitress gives me a dirty look, and/or the bacon comes out burned. I don't liked burned bacon, I like it crispy. There is a difference. Stone Creek Cafe served up "crispy bacon," and it was given a second thought! Awesome! Lunch was soup and sandwiches, again, very good, nothing to complain about. Dinner was fried chicken, and WOW! Their fried chicken is excellent!!!! I HIGHLY recommend it! Parking - a private lot on each side, so you can't beat that. Service - very, very good! Prices - VERY GOOD!! All in all, a GREAT place, VERY GOOD Prices, VERY Good service, comfortable, warm, and friendly. What else could you ask for? Nothing! See you there! What else

I guess this is what a "greasy spoon" is. The food was actually too oily for me to eat. I literally ate two bites of my "veggie omelette" and half a piece of toast, both of which were drenched and dripping with butter, oil etc... You know when restaurant staff asks how your food was and aren't listening to and doesn't care about the answer? This happened twice before I paid for food I didn't eat and left. It's too bad because I would like a nice breakfast place close to my house.

GREAT burgers and rings! And I absolutely LOVED my waitress! She was very polite and kind, and when serving drinks, she actually handed me my straw rather than tossing it on the table. It's the little things that count. :)

There this morning for breakfast .Let me start with my apology for interfering with my waitress this morning who was more interested in standing around with her fellow waitresses. There is one waitress always with a smile, delivers her hash and coffee with a smile. Come on guys, chat with your customers, try and sound interested, how some of you make a living as a waitress is beyond me. Most diners go to a place that offers good food and service-your food is average on a good day and unfriendly wait staff will take me,my friends and money elsewhere.

My boyfriend and I came here for a quick bite on a Sunday for lunch. It has a neighborhood diner feel to it, very simple, random decor in a medium sized space with lots of booths and plenty of natural light. While Brian claimed that the Mexican food here is good, I wasn't so sure, considering nothing about this place appeared very "Mexican" so I opted for a French dip since I haven't had one in a few years. He got the reuban. SOOOO many fries! They have very large portions here, everything hovers under $10. Servers here were prompt and efficient yet unenthused and not very friendly. I guess I was the same way when I was a teenager so it's all good. Decent value, we'll be back.

Basic place with bland food. 2 people for breakfast was $26.00 not including tip. If you stick to the basics I'm sure it would be good. My boyfriend ordered the Burrito; very tasteless. I ordered the Corn Beef Hash for around $9.00. With a side pancake. So I expected it to be homemade. Nope! When I told the waitress I thought it was overpriced for something that looks like it came out of a can. She replied "because it is"! HA. Enough said; right?!? I use to get a whole can of hash at Walmart for $4.00. But I wouldn't do that either again.

It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it was well worth the visit. Service was excellent throughout the meal, the servings were huge, food was delicious and the prices are great. What more can you ask for? My husband had the grilled salmon dinner and he says it was cooked perfectly, served with a large "side" salad and large baked potato. I had a crispy chicken sandwich that had tons of flavor (with pepper jack cheese, bacon, ranch dressing). The onion rings were some of the best I've ever had. By the time we left almost all the tables were full.

I've eaten here about a dozen times since we moved to the denver area about a year ago and have grown to love it. First off you can't beat the old school diner vibe. The dining space is pretty nice with lots of booths and big windows, a bunch of cool potted bonsai type plants for decoration and led tv's mounted to the ceilings all around in case your eating alone. Friendly and consistently attentive wait staff greet me with a smile and are always happy to fulfill my every trivial request. The beast thing about it is the food. I have yet to have a dish that is in the least bit disappointing, in fact everything I've had has been awesome. The burgers are perfect, made to order with fresh and high quality ingredients, what I really love on the burgers are the house made pickles. In fact, a large part of the menu is house made. They also have a great traditional mexican menu.

Sunday drop in and the first thing to bug me was the entrance which you can access from either side. My complaint is that people who aren't familiar stand there not knowing if they should seat themselves or not and by the time they've asked and done that the other entrance has came in and sat themselves at all the tables. Now you're waiting longer then you should. The plus...the food. It was delicious and I wanted a cinnamon roll but forgot about that after I found something else. Now I have to go back in and take someone else's seat and get one. Service just a ok. Don't get annoyed by people asking if it's sit yourself if there isn't a sign. Losing a lot of new people not knowing your stupid policy

hash browns , pancakes grilled one side only, egg whites runny, had asked for over medium+, steak too bloody I may have detected a pulse, had asked for medium well. Never again, many other places as near offering much better food, larger portions and less costly.

I would like to start by saying yes the food is really delicious! I had the ham and cheese melt and I was not disappointed by that. I do however want to point out that I was very thrown off by the service we received today. Because I am a server myself I can tell the difference between good and bad service and we received horrible service today. When we were seated no smiles or anything toward her costumers. Did not come to check on us once after food came out. Did not deliver our bill when we were finished. And to top it all off she was talking about us in Spanish. Didn't expect us to understand what she was saying but we did and the thing that bugged me the most about what she said was that we were white trash. I may have loved the food but I will not be returning because of the treatment I had received.

We kept forgetting we'd seen this place till a friend had commented on a yummy breakfast here a couple of weeks ago. Made the way over this morning for a good breakfast. Was not disappointed! It's a seat yourself location with friendly staff and very reasonable prices. Tried the 4x4 breakfast which had eggs, bacon, sausage and pancakes (2 ea). We added hash browns which are really thin sliced potatoes cooked perfectly. Definitely a restaurant we will add to our rotation. Lunches looked good too. Burgers, sandwiches, wraps, etc.

Clean, friendly, tasty. Generous portions. I entered the Cafe expecting a typical, dated diner. But I was pleasantly surprised by how nice it is inside. The restaurant is immaculately clean and even looks like it was recently remodeled. Our server was very good. She made one mistake (forgot to bring a salad), but quickly corrected herself and apologized. Otherwise, the service was flawless and very hospitable. The food was also good. In our chips and guac appetizer, the chips tasted a little stale, but that was forgivable and not so bad. I ordered the sirloin steak tips, which came with potato, steamed veg, bread, and a salad! Tons of food for such a low price, and I have enough leftovers for two more meals. The food was all very tasty, too. The steak was well-marinated and cooked exactly how I ordered it, medium rare. The vegetables had just enough butter to be flavorful. Not fancy food, certainly, but homey and comforting.

We moved to the area and were told about this place. Thought we would give it a shot. It's a nice little friendly diner that does what you would expect. Good food that satisfied are hunger, and friendly service. Nothing crazy or mind blowing but good.

I actually applied for a job here when I was in high school at SHS....22 years ago! Despite that, I had never eaten here before, even though we live less than a mile or two away. The wife and I took the kids here for a later than usual Friday dinner around 6:30-7pm ish or so. Don't be put off by the slightly peeling paint on the exterior. It is slightly dated but VERY well cared for. Parking is ample and available on both sides of the building, the only suggestion I would make is perhaps adding a few more disabled spots. There is a very large senior citizen population patronizing the cafe and I didn't see too many spots. That aside, parking is certainly ample and easy to find. The inside is neat, clean and well kept. This is a 'seat yourself' establishment and there is no hostess (we hadn't been aware of this until one of the customers pointed it out to us). We found a booth and within minutes our server, Cynthia was handing out menus and taking our drink orders. I was pretty impressed with the two servers that were on duty (it is a pretty small cafe) as they seemed to be at ease with the remainder of the dinner rush. There was a third employee in the front of the house, but I believe she was handling the cash register (your server is not your cashier). From our booth, I could see at least two back of the house employees working in the kitchen. There were several flat screen televisions tuned into CNN (I do love me some Anderson Cooper) and a flat screen monitor at the front of the restaurant that displayed the day's special, desserts and soup. The dinner menu is pretty complete, yet not too overwhelming. The children's menu is on the back of the dinner menu and is your typical kid's meal fare. Our daughters (whom are getting ready to finish up 2nd grade and were happy to read the menu alone) both ordered junior cheeseburger and fries. The wife ordered the chicken tenders with french fries and mixed veggies. I ordered the beef chimichanga without the green chili (my gut can be rather picky). Although I did not time our order or anything like that....you know, dining with second graders and a couple of TVs can be rather distracting. When our food arrived, it was hot and well presented. The girls' gave thumbs up between mouthfuls of cheeseburger and fries. My wife's food looked fresh and well prepared. We didn't order dessert but it was tempting! We will be back.....hopefully for breakfast!

Five stars PLUS!!!! Reasonably priced! My friend and I had a prime rib dinner for under $11.00. Fresh homemade chicken noodle soup with a thick slab of prime rib and REAL mashed potatoes. Everything is homemade and not out of a can. I saw a couple of "one star" reviews on here. Seriously(?) They must be Yuckies.....I mean yuppies from Cherry Creek. No valet parking here - but EXCELLENT homemade food made with love.

Took the family here and couldn't be more pleased! The service was outstanding and don't get me started on the food! Make sure to order green Chile because it is out of this world good. Will be eating here regularly now! !!

My dad was in town for a few days and we tend to go to breakfast a few times while he is here. I wanted try a new place that I had seen, but never been to. Stone Creek Cafe is located on the corner of Federal and Bellview. It is a cute family joint that I would compare to Jerry Bob's in Tucson, AZ. Cheap food, friendly service, and infested with interesting folks. We sat in a booth, which I was surprised to get since they are pretty busy all of the time. I glanced over the menu and settled on some biscuits and gravy with sausage and my dad got an omelet with just about the kitchen sink in it. The food came out very quickly and served by a very nice lady. I dove into the sausage. It was very tasty and seasoned well. I hate when sausage has no seasonings. I almost feel like you cannot over season sausage. The biscuits and gravy were good, but nothing special. My dad said his omelet was amazing and had great flavor. He ate it all, so I guess he wasn't lying. I think this place is great for a nice, quick, cheap meal. If you are expecting gourmet, then don't stop by the Stone Creek Cafe.

Ahhhh, who doesn't love that good old greasy American diner food once in a while? Generous portions here, for sure! Three eggs, two sausage parties, biscuits and gravy, and hashbrowns for $7.50? Not bad! The biscuits were a bit on the dry side, I'm sure they'll be better next time, and for a lousy $7.50 for a huge plate of food, it's a forgivable mistake. I wasn't expecting the stars in the sky for bargain basement prices. Never seen such a clean interior in a diner before, this place was SPOTLESS. Very friendly and attentive waitress as well. Live close? Work close? It's as good as a cheap diner gets. Stop on in, it won't knock your socks off, but you won't leave feeling like you were overcharged, and you certainly won't leave hungry!

It's a cafe, it's a diner, it's a waste of time. When arriving we knew it was going to be a typical diner experience with so so food. We were giving this place too much credit. Our waitress seemed very very busy, and after we ordered burgers, she came back a minute later to say they were out of burgers and asked if we wanted to order something else. After looking at the menus again, she came back out of breath saying they had burgers for us. Ok.... We also ordered the nacho appetizer. Then we waited.... And waited..... And waited.... She passed our table numerous times.... And we waited..... Finally, after at least thirty minutes she informed us the cook had lost our ticket, dinner was on her, but they didn't have our burgers anymore. With a grumpy/hungry husband and a grumpy/tired/hungry teenager, I told her we were leaving. Needless to say we won't ever attempt this place again. Boo.

Very Clean, Very Friendly, very comfortable environment. Staff is always providing quality service. Food is fresh, every time. Dessert is amazing, breakfast and lunch items are fantastic! I have not had dinner there, but I imagine it being just as great. Coffee could be better, but overall worth 5 stars. I cant see why anybody would rate this establishment any lower. Raters seem to be overly critical, and generally unhappy in their life. Don't take it out on such a hard working cafe. .

Diner food.... God Bless America. This place is pretty good. I am surprised at other reviews that are complaining. If they wanted to get a french fine dining place they should have gone to another place, this place isn't for wussies. It's cage fighter food. This is a diner with awesome diner food. I especially liked the prime rib. It's really good. Don't count calories, just jump in.

Thought we'd give this place a try as it's 2 mins from my home, it always seems to be bustling, plus the weather was totally shitty. SCC offers your typical diner fare - all day breakfasts, burgers, fried everything, salads and a few Mexican dishes. I chose the French Dip sandwich with fries ($7.95) and he ordered the chile relleno/cheese enchilada combo thing (same). We munched on some chips and salsa while waiting for our food. The chips were the usual cold boring cardboard triangles but the salsa was actually really decent - straight out of the fridge, sadly, but thick and chunky with discernable onion, tomato, jalapeno and fresh cilantro. Not bad. My French Dip sammich was pretty ok - the sliced steak was lean, tender and plentiful but there wasn't a whole lot of flavor. The hoagie roll was kinda soggy. The jus could have done with a little seasoning but it was beefy, not at all oily, and ok generally. The fries though, ewww - overcooked to the point that you bit into one and there was nothing inside. His combo was decent. The enchiladas were stuffed with cheese, and their green chili was pretty spicy and very flavorful. The rice was a touch on the crunchy side and the refried beans were just blah. This was an ok meal. The worst part is that their restrooms aren't accessible from the restaurant - you have to go out and around the back of the building. This really sucked on a day like today. 3 stars!

Nothing wrong with a 3 Star for this down home, simple cafe near Bellview and South Federal. When you are looking for a healthy portion of dinner for under $10 per person these folks fill the role. I am writing this review after about the third visit and all of my experiences have been about the same for eating in the 5-630P time slot. Unlike some of the other reviews here we have always found the wait staff be attentive and pleasent which must be hard to do in spot like this where I am sure the tippers are hard pressed to go beyond 15% on a $10 tab. Anyway, a simple menu of American classics and some Mexican choices. Best advice, if you really have a hunger for Mexican continue on north on Federal and try the many choices after you cross Evans. Stick with a burger or chicken here.

  • Donald T.

The food is ok but their prices keep jumping up from the last 6 months or so. Hence, I can only give it 3 stars. For the same quality and cheaper prices, go down the road to Mike's Cafe.

Great homecooked food. It's like Dennys without the INC. The Patty Melt is huge and tasty.

Went with my hubby for breakfast one morning and it was a culinary experience we don't care to duplicate. The waitresses stand up front and yak at each other while they ignore you and the food was very poor - it's hard to screw up eggs and corned beef hash but they did. It was kind of like a breakfast made by someone at home who doesn't know how to cook - you know the type.

It's not a Diner, it's a Cafe and this place is great. It's only missing Mel & Flo.

If they serve your soda in one of those huge, mottled transparent plastic, red (occasionally yellowish-brown) cups covered in old scratches and a worn-out 1970's Coca-Cola logo then you know you've found yourself a cheap, greasy diner. I love it! Huge portions of good, simple comfort food. It will clog your arteries and you're gonna regret it later, but for right now you just sit back and stuff your face. I had a regular ol' chicken burrito smothered in enough green chile to drown an entire village. It was exactly what I was looking for. Yum!

Go here for the breakfast skillets, not the lunch! The Mexican Skillet is the best. The wait staff is great I just wished that Barb still worked there (the nicest waitress in town).

For a simple inexpensive breakfast or lunch, you can't beat Stone Creek Cafe. I've been coming here on a regular basis for years. While I usually have breakfast I've been trying some of the new burgers on the menu, which are not bad. The service is always good and friendly, which is the main reason I continue to come back.

  • Lindsey B.

It's incredibly simple but oh so comforting to have Stone Creek a stones throw (aha!) away from where I live. There is nothing fancy about it but if you are in the mood for good old fashioned greasy spoon grub, this is the place. I only wish they were open for post bar munchies. Try the chicken fried steak, your mouth with love you and your heart with hate you!

Great diner food. If you want the best bisquits and gravy this is your spot. The bisquits are never stale! We come here all the time, service is great and very reasonable with large portions.......yum!
