It is billed as the best burger in Durango and since I only ate one burger while in the city, I can't really confirm that fact. Well when you walk inside it clearly has that burger joint smell and it is a pretty greasy, but intoxicating odor. Burgers are half pound, hand formed and cooked on the flattop grill. The sides are frozen, but upper level frozen if that makes sense. Beer battered fries were slightly battered, but crispy and a good choice. My burger was once again cooked well and adding bacon (could have been crispier) cost me $1.50 on top of the $8.00 price of the basic burger. It was a tasty burger and TV's are available for games. My favorite beer was the Durango dark lager, but they have a ton of choices for suds.

Hands down the best burger in town. If you don't believe me, they get voted it by the locals! If you're a burger fan... you have to swing by. Burger night is Monday night... and they have TVs so you can watch whatever sporting event you would like. I've also enjoyed chicken fried steak on Thursday and tacos and margaritas on Friday nights... I've never had a bad meal or drink there. They also have a good selection of draught beer! I definitely suggest this place!

No wait but we beat the train crowd. I ordered the bison sliders which were cooked perfectly (bit of pink). My husband ordered one of the other sandwiches. We both got tater tots which were really good! The place filled up pretty quickly so a wait is probably normal.

Great place to bring the fam;) The sports bar atmosphere is great. Try the bison sliders and the tater barrels; they're delicious. Ask for Veronika; the best waitress ever;)

My experience here is purely based upon the amazing service that I received from their employee, Leah. She was perfectly timely and professional, as well as being super attentive with any need my family and I had with our experience. We enjoyed the great location and good burgers. All in all, good burgers, but we will be returning if Leah is able to assist us again.

We walked by this place on the way to Carvers brewing. An unruly and undisciplined dog as well as a Sunday crowd drove us back to Olde Tymers. What a stroke of luck that was. They have this gem of a patio hidden in the back that was an absolute shady, welcoming delight. Not to mention that was without a doubt the best bison burger I've ever had, hands down. We were also able to tie our dog outside on the sidewalk and he was within 6ft of us so we all felt our neuroses take a breather.

While the burger was solid but not particulalry memorable, the space is a delight. In an old drug store ( I mean 120 year old), the old tin ceiilng survivices. Our congenial waitress added to the fun. My wife had an interesting drink served in a copper cup. Im still not sure what it was, but she loved it. This is not ar elaxing environment, it brisk and busy, lots of TVs for sport viewing. Fun!

Stopped by Olde Tymer's Cafe on August 30th around 3PM. Waitresses and waiter were very friendly but the bar tender was rude not only to me but other customers at the bar. She wore a shirt that read we rip off tourists and drunks which is kind of funny until you realize she has zero interpersonal skills. Appetizers were pretty bad but a great place to catch some football and I liked the location and decor etc...

Food was great, prices and value really great for Durango. The property is nostalgic, and the service was wonderful. We had burgers and hot dogs, and everyone was very happy and satisfied. We will be back in the future, and would recommend this as an easy going pub that provides a great value!

My uncle's pick for lunch. Solid place for a burger and fries. I was sorry my husband and I both had a momentary break from our sanity and had ordered one to share. Be prepared to eat off hours or wait. It seems to get very crowded.

This place was recommended by locals for having great burgers, and the bison burger was very good although kinda pricey for what you get. The atmosphere is pretty cool, but the service was lousy. Do not bother checking in here - the menu says "Check in using any social media and we'll give you something cool." When I asked our server about it she didn't have a clue and went to ask the b*itchy blond bartender. The two argued (in front of us) and our server came back and said you get nothing. I had to point out they have this printed on their menu and the staff pulled one open and acted like they saw it for the first time. The servers all agreed they should remove it - this is just bad customer service and inexcusable. They could've given me a book of matches and I would have been ok. Beyond that servers were doing crossword puzzles while food got cold sitting in the window. There are better places to go and not be treated poorly.

Olde Tymer's Cafe has a divey burger joint feel to it and coincidentally, offers the best burgers in Durango. They have daily specials, which are worth checking out and vary from day to day. The staff is fantastic. Not only are they friendly, but the waitress we had last week was downright helpful. The Brewer and I got there at 3:15 on Monday and were waiting for 4:00 to roll around so we could order the $4.95 burger special. Our waitress knew that, and she got our orders and put them in at 4 o'clock on the dot so we wouldn't have to wait longer to eat. That was extremely thoughtful of her and much appreciated by the hungry duo. I plan on returning for German night, which has specials on brats and beer, and the next time I want a $5 dolla burger and killer fries. Did I mention this place has beer? Well it does, and they offer domestics and local micro-brews for some of the best prices in town.

Must be a locals place. They don't take too kindly to tourists. 35 minutes to wait for an order of wings seemed a little extreme, and they weren't busy. Cool name. Maybe an ok place for an after hike beer, but I wouldn't recommend this place.
(1)
Calin D.
This place fills up fast, but they do have a second floor, so you're likely to get a seat no matter what. The wings here looked great, so I made sure to order mine extra spicy. They were good, and though they didn't quite have the "melt off your face" heat I was looking for, the green chili tater tots were quite yummy. (If you get them, you might want to hold the cheese and order extra green chili instead.) There was plenty of food, and even though we sat on the second floor, the spry wait staff hustled to make sure we never ran dry of drinks, which was nice. The place is known for their (meat) burgers, so if you have a vegetarian in your party be sure to order the fish and chips or grilled cheese.

This place is a fun, funky, local cafe located in the heart of the historic district of Durango. My sister and I stopped here on our road trip from Vegas to Denver looking for a fun stop to have lunch after our Mesa Verde hikes. It was just the type of place we were looking for. We sat at the bar. The bartender was extremely helpful even though we only ordered water and food. He gave us some suggestions of places to see and things to do there. The food was delicious and came out quickly. I ordered a French dip with French fries. The horseradish sauce was the perfect blend of cream and spicy - some restaurants are not able to get that flavor, but they did. The beef was juicy and not dry at all. It was such a fun restaurant that took over an old druggist shop. They still had some of the old trinkets and bottles from the druggist era that gave the cafe a classic feel. If I pass through Durango again, I will definitely be here again!

Burger was pretty good-ordered it since it was their signature. Pretty slow on a Sunday afternoon...only 3 other parties seated inside with two already having food. Host didn't give me a menu and when I ordered my burger it took them 30 minutes at least even with 3 people working the kitchen. 3 stars for friendly waitress and 8/10 burger.

It has a great charm it reminds you of the old Durango charm. Every day they have specials and you cannot go wrong with them.

Family ate here while on a winter vacation in Durango. We had a late lunch and the place was still packed. I ordered a cup of the red chili with cheese and onion. The chili was served warm and had a great spicy hearty taste but not so spicy it was not pleasant to the palate. For the main course we two of us split the Colorado Plateau angus burger which had bacon, Colby jack, ham and green chili on it. The burger was okay but I would have said it was great had it not been overlooked and dry. Had it been served cooked properly I would definitely have been on cloud nine. I will definitely give them another try because I enjoyed the entire experience except the temperature of the burger.

We were greeted with a smile and seating was a breeze, it was simply the ordering and delivery of food that was sub par. A few of us were planning on ordering the fish and chips, but they happened to be out (and unfortunately our waitress never thought to mention it...) so when we went to order it, we were QUITE disappointed. no fish. "oh but we have the batter" ah, thank you! I started by ordering a beer, and it took around 15 minutes to get to my table... Then grandma ordered a margarita, and it took at least 25 minutes. This might have been passable had the restaurant been packed, but it was maybe half full. We were verbally unhappy about how long things were taking, and nothing was done to fix the problem (maybe comp the margarita... or the beer... or SOMEthing...) It's a classic traditional diner with some slow, slow service.

Cheap burgers on Mondays! I think they were like $4.99. Juicy burgers, served on onion buns with really great fries (or sub for potato salad, side salad). Everyone I was with had burgers, but I actually went with the cobb salad. It was delicious, and huge. Beers were cheap too. $1.50 for Bud, PBR, etc. Also have a few local beers like Ska. Great service, and a nice little patio out back too. Got the impression everyone was a local. The waitresses and other visitors knew eachother by name.

It had nice atmosphere but the service was a bit slow & the food was not bad but not amazing either. It was kind of expensive too for the small dishes everyone in my group got too. All in all it was just okay!

Finally had the Fish and Chips we didn't get the night before. Great service here, friendly, fun staff with T-Shirts with the saying "We cheat tourists and drunks". Fish was cooked to perfection, not huge pieces, but adequate for a good sized meal. Fries were very good, and of course topped off with a good beer. It's on our Durango list now.

Sunday nights = $2 pints of Ska Brewery beers, which is my all-time fave beer. They have True Blonde, Pinstripe Red Ale, and Nut Busters Brown Ale on tap. The food is your standard pub fare, so don't expect anything better. I got a grilled cheese sandwich with fries and a salad, and it was good. I think it was about $6. If you're in town on Sunday night, check out this place for the $2 Ska Brews (brewed in Durango). Otherwise, skip it.

I ordered a soup and my friend ordered a burger. My friend said he really enjoyed the burger but I had qualms about my soup. It was mostly water. There was so little chicken that I felt I was drinking chicken broth. The broth was tasty, don't get me wrong, but I feel like the whole bowl had fewer than 150 Calories and that's not really worth the money for me. A bag of Skittles would have filled me up more. The service was good though. Our waitress was nice and she offered suggestions on what burger my friend should get. The soup I originally wanted to order was no longer available, which I was disappointed about because if you advertise a Soup of the Day then you should have it on that day. I am combining my experience with that of my friend to make this a 3 star review. Otherwise, I would have given 2 stars and he would have given 4 stars. (We actually talked about this because he uses Yelp but said he was too lazy to review this place.)

I was told that Olde Tymer's had the best burger in town per a former native...he was wrong. It was a decent burger but I've had better (see Carver's...). The service was good and I wish I had been able to see some of the old pharmacy antiques. Monday's I believe are $5 burger night, so I think my money would've been better spent on a Monday.

Our food here was overall OK. Nothing to write home about. There were some issues, however. Food was slow in coming. Perhaps to be expected on a Saturday night. Something on the kids meal cheeseburger & fries was spicy. I couldn't tell if it was the burger or the coating on the fries because my mouth and shortly thereafter my stomach was burning from the roast beef sandwich with roasted pepper slices and cheddar-pretty good by the way but the menu should specify between roasted peppers and roasted jalapeno or hot peppers. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy spicy food but I don't enjoy needing Pepcid AC or not being able to taste anything else. The BLT with Guac standard was spicy. Served to a kid as well. The buffalo wings were tender and meaty and the buffalo sauce was very hot. My wife got the Saturday special, all you can eat ribs. The first portion was tender and flavorful-it pretty much fell off the bone. 4 bones for the first portion. The second portion was not as tender and again 4 bones. The third portion was on the chewy side and drowned in sauce. The fourth portion-again sloppy and even tougher. Coincidence that each successive portion was tougher and sloppier? Perhaps, but one wonders. I did enjoy that the umbrellas were secured in the upright position with pencil's, 6-penny nails or whatever was handy.

Service was good. Food, not so much. Got a turkey sandwich, which was dry and not much taste. The people I was dining with weren't pleased with their meals either (in fact leaving much of it behind on the plate). We wouldn't go back.

One trip here was enough, for me. Sat on the patio, drinks took approximately five hours apiece to make their way to our table, waitress once looked RIGHT at me motioning her to our table and kept walking. They were out of the one dish I wanted to try, and what I ended up getting instead was just .... meh. As was the gut ache I got shortly after THAT. Too many great patio bars/grills in Durango to give this one another go. I bumped it up from one star to two because the patio has a nice vibe after dark.

Excellent burgers; deserve whatever award they've won. (And the tacos are great, too. ) Very friendly and efficient service. Only criticism is that they need to get at least one IPA on their beer list.

Best Friend and I met my Brother for lunch. The ambiance of the Cafe is fun. We ate on the patio. Our server, Savannah was in training, but she serviced us with complete competence and friendliness. She is a true asset to here employer. We ordered Potato Skins--- Yummy, and zucchini strips- too thick, with heavy breading on them,, not a winner.
(4)
Susan K.
I love this place, so Durango! Friendly, casual, unpretentious, great service, hardworking staff, simple but lovely patio dining. Best potato skins in the west. Green chili with pork that is addictive and down home chicken fried steak, yum. When we are in town, we go 1-3 times a week, maybe 100 times total. Just skip the 'ta ta' and eat!

Durango locals must expect poor service with crappy food. The food is very cheap compared to other local restaurants but is that really an excuse? The patio area and bar are very nice. That's where it pretty much ends. Our server needs to seriously find a new job. We asked for water and got none, she asked the table next to us if they wanted dessert and just dropped our check, and she refilled the ketchup putting new on top of old. And I wondered why the ketchup tasted like mold. Cold ketchup sitting in 80 degree plus temperatures all day, no thanks. The food is nothing spectacular. We ordered a reuben and the cheese steak. The cheese steak was decent ( no where near a true philly ) and should be eaten with a fork since the the roll absorbed all the grease. The reuben was edible but a far cry from anything you can get from a good deli. Note to the kitchen staff: when you say toasted on the menu, it really needs to be toasted and not half assed. Save your time and effort, eat somewhere else.

We came in on a Tuesday night because of the advertised "German Night Special" on a chalk board in the front window of the restaurant. The place was a bit crowded and disorganized, people did not know where to wait for a table and some came in waited a few minutes and then walked out. There were empty tables but.....We waited 30 minutes before we were led to a vacant table on the second floor by a waitress since "the hostess does not work on Tuesday nights". Waited another 15 minutes before another waitress came up and took our drink orders. We were ready to order our diner but she was too busy at that moment to take the order. When she returned with the drinks, two glasses of warm water with a couple of ice cubes in each glass we then placed our order and at that time she informed us that they were out of the "Tuesday German Night" special that was still advertised on the chalk board in the front window of the restaurant. It wasn't even 7:30 pm! When I pointed out to the waitress that the special was still advertised she just shrugged and said that it happens all the time. I ordered a "Ruben" sandwich and my son had a burger that he enjoyed. The Ruben was ok, not good or exceptionally bad. I spent the next three days sicker than I have ever been and after returning home and visiting my personal physician I was diagnosed with food poisoning. Needless to say the quality of the food was horrible and the service was indifferent and minimal at best. I will never go back.

This is what Durango is all about. Nothing beats beer on the back patio while enjoying burger or taco night. Sure, it may get busy at night but that's because it's a damn good place and everyone wants to be here.

Service was slow but food was great - both had burgers and their fries - fabulous!

Bad service... really bad. Go here if you want to wait 15 minutes for a beer and even longer for a messed up order. Everything was such a hassle for the server.

Great Drink Specials!

At lunch it's always jam packed and there's always a wait, but there's just something about Olde Tymer's that makes it worth it. Great everything.
