4.5 stars. Glad I hadn't seen the lowish avg on yelp or I might not have stopped! We wanted to get something between standard lunch and dinner hours, and ended up bailing on Gazpacho's b/c of no seafood options. Nini's hit the spot. It's Chipotle, but with more options and more local. Staff was cool / laid back but still provided good service. I had pork burrito and bf had fish tacos, both were quite good. Not insanely good, but plenty good for a quick bite to eat at a reasonable price, and good enuf we went back the next day to get something to go for the road. My 2nd burrito wasn't as ideally balanced or as warm as the first, but still got the job done. Chips and gauc also recommended!

Wow! Their sign says Famous Margaritas, which I highly suspected but they turned out to be hand made, great drinks for $4.50. We had the nachos and chicken tacos which were excellent. Try their sauces. Great! And, if it looks crowded, don't worry, they have a large sitting area out back.

This is a great place to get either take out or just sit around and enjoy, The service is very fast, the portions are big, and prepared before your eyes.

3 stars because the staff was very friendly and very helpful. But the food, not so good. Shredded lettuce tasted old and the chicken tasted weird. Maybe it was just me but i wouldnt recommend. The beans, cheese n the chips were good. Maybe i should've got nachos instead :(

Just had lunch here today and I was really impressed. I was tired after driving 5 hours and just wanted to eat something quickly. This place is situated right next to Starbucks (good call on location there) so I was able to hit both one after another. The decor (as someone else noted) is really cute. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the prices were actually really moderate in comparison to some places I have seen. The food was really great and well portioned. Would definitely go back. The guac and tomatillo salsa were excellent!

If you are in Durango, CO check this place out. Yes, you could go and get authentic Mexican food in the area. However, if you want some great, tasty food, go check out Nini's. Huge portions. My pork burrito was amazing and bursting with flavor. Counter service which is friendly, helpful, and most importantly, FAST!

Smelled so good when we walked by that we specifically came back for lunch. Really yummy! Great selection, great twists on the usual menu items, awesome salsas, and very nice, friendly people. I would happily eat here again - and plan to.

The food might be good but we'll never know. Website said they are open every day. Front door of restaurant after walking several blocks on a Sunday to get there said otherwise. We weren't the only ones peering through the door wondering why they weren't open when the website said they were. I guess "Every Day" to them means "Never on a Sunday".

Great food for a low price. Nachos were awesome and the small ordered filled the two of us! Staff was friendly, helpful and service was fast!

Yum! I was walking around the Historic Main St of Durango, CO yesterday and realized it was lunch time! I really had no idea what I was in the mood for, but something told me to stop into Nini's. It was simply adorable and inviting inside. The two people behind the counter were so friendly and helpful. I ordered these delicious nachos with shredded beef. Prices were a little high for nachos. But they had a delicious assortment of salsa's to choose from. And they make ti the way you want it, no questions asked.

Good stuff. stopped by on our way home to utah. This place wont disapoint at all. tacos a big. got twontacos with blue corn tortillas and barbacoa beef and fish tacos. Wasnt the best i have ever had but its a solid choice.

Awesome food and service! Owners are very friendly and had a fun sense of humor. Had homemade guac, chicken tacos, fish tacos with mango salsa...all were stand out. Great outdoor patio and local beer selection.

Kid friendly, good quality food, decent value considering high traffic location, huge nachos and burritos. My only "complaint" is that they need to add an IPA to their bottle list. Ska Mexican Logger w lime good tho.

I had high hopes for this place but the food was way too salty for my taste. I had the carnitas tacos and my boyfriend had the beef burrito. Both were so salty that I had to get sour cream to cut the taste.

5 stars without a doubt! Friendliest service in town. Made a custom quesadilla that was to die for. Beef with cheese, beans, rice and pico inside. Then with a side of mango habanero and roasted tomato salsa. Wish it was a menu item!!!
(5)
Aimee V.
The decor is adorable, the staff awesome, meat is delicate and savory. The salsas, though... They are insane!! We live in Texas and go out of our way to stop by Nini's whenever we can. The variety of flavors-- sweet, hot, tangy... All delicious, all unusual, all addicting. Highly recommend! Be adventurous and try some new flavors!!
(5)
Lowell Z.
Excellent food.....Many, many options for burrito fillings, and if you're veggie or vegan, you can eat very well here. An extensive selection of (expensive) salsas to suit every taste and heat requirement. Odd to charge for salsa, but understandable, I suppose. Highly recommended.
(4)
Ross B.
"it was fine!" Great food with mediocre, unhappy service. it's hard to say that any of the employees so much as pretended to be enjoying their job. The food was very tasty, they have a good selection of salsas but, again... the service (even though it's a walkup and order..) was a bit unsettling. Great food, rough service.

Pros -Friendly staff -Reasonably sized portions -Tasty Margaritas -Decent carnitas Cons -Extremely pricey (especially for a food-counter establishment) -The corn tortillas were awful -The barbacoa was a bit bland

Nini's is just ok, definitely not as good as Zia Taqueria. The best thing going for it is the convenience of the downtown location. Also has nice outdoor seating in the back.

Save your money. I had fish tacos- #3 at $9.95. On the plus side they use blue tortilla soft tacos. On the negative side they are stone cold as is the fish they put inside. Dry too and such a limited amount I might as well had gone for a veggie dish. The plus side is their salsas which are tasty. Probably the reason the other reviews are so positive. My husband had carnitas and they too were dry although his salsa helped extend the taste. There is so much good food in Durango that I think you could safely leave this one to others or perhaps eating early in the day would help the food. One other note, there was no soap in the bathroom. When I reported it to the staff they told me the other bathroom had soap. Am I missing something.....if my hands are dirty (or if theirs are since they prepare food), doesn't it make sense to have soap in both bathrooms? Just try somewhere else is what I recommend.

I have been lucky enough to spend a portion of my summers near Durango for the past few years. This is the one "must go there" restaurant on my list every year, nay, every DAY that I'm in town! Tacos are fresh and tasty, I have tried several combinations of ingredients and haven't been disappointed yet. The staff has always been friendly and helpful when I have been there. I can't wait to get back to Nini's this Summer!

Great place for a quick bite! Chicken tacos with mango salsa were among the best I've ever had. The four women inside were super friendly and got our complicated order for the five of us just right! Awesome stuff!

Excellent burritos, tacos and nachos. Amazing selection of sauces as well. Staff is always friendly. I come here often for lunch and never leave in satisfied. Best deal has to be the nachos. The small is plenty for two people.

Passing through on the way to Telluride, stopped here for lunch. Food was fine, I got the veggie burrito which has all the traditional ingredients and then some odd ones like jicama. It was super hot and they provide free water. They've got a ton of salsa choices and you might find yourself feeling decision fatigue with all the choices you have to make. The restaurant is Ferdinand the Bull themed and has nice decorum and a large outdoor patio for dining. Bathrooms are very small and more like converted closets. If you can't find them that's cause they are "labelled" with flower pictures instead of a recognizable bathroom symbol.

Fast, Delicious, Lots of options. Nice staff, able to answer questions about ingredients, although we had prior knowledge of what to order. Soy-free/Vegan - order naked with beans, rice & salsa. Unfortunately the wraps were not safe (soy) for some in our party, and no Daiya available. However, for a fast meal it was delicious. There are so many salsa options to try. It is clean, and you can watch them make your food. I would visit again & highly recommend.

My husband and I ate here back in late March. We were attracted to the type of food here but also the outside inviting appearance. It is a cute little restaurant in downtown Durango, across from the train station. Everyone inside was very friendly and helpful. They were accommodating as well to our little family. The inside appearance was a bright and colorful and the outside. The only thing we though might be a problem for others in a wheelchair would be the steep entrance into the restaurant but with a little push it shouldn't be too difficult. The food was delicious-- even our toddler gobbled it up! It appeared to have fresh produce and just looked overall yummy. They offer a variety of salsa as well. We will definitely be returning!

Super fresh, tasty burritos and delicious side dishes. The slaw was loaded with cilantro and my $4.50 margarita was surprisingly awesome. There's a patio out back, very quiet and a little hidden.

Great lunch today! Very friendly staff. Had the carnitas taco with mango habenero salsa which was hot and awesome. I also had a chicken taco with the tomatillo salsa which was also excellent and a lot more on the mold side. Inexpensive and quick. Will definitely visit again the next time I am in town.

Delicious, fresh tacos, burritos and nachos. Very casual and cozy. The 9 salsas are made in house. I love the seasonal (not always available) pineapple pico with the shredded beef on a blue corn tortilla. Cookies are made in house too. The coconut bars are to die for.

While in Durango for a spot of fly fishing gave my lunch direction to good old Yelp to find some of the best Tacos In town with some friends. We weren't let down with a taste test of meats and hot sauces. An appropriate margarita on the rocks topped the meal and we left full, satisfied with our choice, and rightfully boozed. Enjoy.

Truthfully, when a place smells as good as Nini's, they don't need my Yelp review to help them. Honest to God, the smell literally drew us off the sidewalk and into the store. And as usual, following one's nose did not lead us wrong -- our burritos were delicious. But you know what's so great about Nini's? What places it, in my mind, above Chipotle? The choices. There are five burrito filling options (sauteed veggie through barbacoa), nine salsas, two rices, two beans, and two tortilla sizes (10-inch means no more painful burrito-baby belly!). They have great sodas (Durango soda company!) and hot sauces on hand (sadly, I'm still looking for the one from Arizona).
(5)
Fred T.
Visiting in Durango, our kids took us here. I had an excellent burrito (a bit like a Chipotle type burrito, but possibly better) with truly outstanding habanero mango salza. Don't order this unless you like hot (which I do). Small, not fancy, but downtown close to everything. Very nice.

If I have a couple extra minutes to park and eat while in Durango, this is the place I like to go to. It's not very large on the inside, but for me its all about the food and the food here is awesome. It's a fairly simple menu that doesn't overwhelm you with options and what they do offer they do very well. I am a really big fan of their chicken burritos and I LOVE their homemade salsas. Totally awesome.
(5)
Annabelle N.
This place was average in my opinion - definitely a lot of food for the price, which is a plus, and they have a ton of different salsa options which is kind of fun. The nachos easily would serve 3 people and they looked very hearty. My chicken tacos were a bit too spicy for my liking (even with the "mild" salsa) but everyone else seemed pleased with their food. Be advised, I am a chicken when it comes to heat, so that is definitely swaying my opinion. There was no seating on the back patio, so we sat in the front area which was tight but we did carve out some space for our group of 7. It definitely has a fun vibe, with quirky local art on the wall and friendly staff. I would try this place again, and maybe attempt to find something with less spice. Other than than the heat, this place is worth another shot.

I work just down the street and can smell the wonderfullness that wafts from this tiny bastion of goodness all hours of the day. Nini's has a few things going for it: Awesome service, the most amazing mango salsa I've ever tasted, and MOUNTAIN OF NACHO! If you're down this way, stop by, have a fish taco with mango salsa and spicy coleslaw and forget about that place named Chipotle.
(4)
Maggie M.
I like this place and try to stop in when I am in Durango. Always fresh ingredients and if you are vegetarian, you can choose between black and pinto beans for your soft tacos. I prefer the chicken over the beef but that is me. Love their salsas, lots to choose from. My favorite is the chipotle. Ambiance is super casual, good for kids.

I have to admit I was a little weary when I walked in: another burrito shop? Where would it fall? Near the bottom with Chipotle or in the middle with Free Birds? Well, I can tell you I was happily surprise! I ordered the barbarcoa which was really good. The tortilla was fresh, so additional points there! The serving size was HUGE -- so I have dinner now as well. I had a choice between black or pinto beans. (I was a little disappointed that they did not know what burracho beans were, but it is Colorado, so what was I thinking!?!). I chose black beans. The owner even went so far as to add fresh jalapenos upon my request. Overall a good experience and good food. I will eat here again!

I love the Carne Asada Quesadillas! The food here is great, and it is a perfect place to eat if you are low on time. The service is quick and consistently good. I have never had a bad experience here!

Great taqueria - with lots of salsa options, and large portions of their flavorful entrees. My husband and I stopped in for dinner - and I had just a chicken quesidilla - which was plenty large enough for a dinner entree! With a side of just their regular "pico" salsa - which was very fresh! - and a drink - I was stuffed, and happy. My husband decided to mix-and-match an order of three tacos with three different meat/salsa combinations. Three soft tacos was enough to fill him up for dinner (impressive!) - and the staff was very friendly and helpful in suggesting meat/salsa combinations to try. (He particularly liked the fish taco with the mango habanero salso - but warns, it's hot!) A great find - for a great casual meal at a great price.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

If you're down this way, stop by, have a fish taco with mango salsa and spicy coleslaw and forget about that place named Chipotle.

Ordered a pretty standard burrito. I couldn't finish it.
