Wow what a wonderful surprise this evening. I have eaten ate all the best foodie places in Durango and I had the best meal in Durango I have every had at Eolus tonight. I had the saffron cappellini and it was simple incredible. I have had compelling food moments in SF, NYC and while traveling and I have to put this meal in the top 5. I am still wishing I was still eating that wonderful dish. The saffron tomato broth was simply a delight and full of depth and flavor. Scallops, salmon, lobster, shrimp, calamari and oh so much love. It was so fantastic. The flavors were buttery and luscious yet somehow light and well balanced. I have spent so much more for meals that did not compare to this dish and I left thinking "that is why I try new places". Gems like this keep the foodie in me always hunting.. If you get a chance please try this dish. Damn I wish I were staying another day so I could go back and eat it again tomorrow. :) happy eating!

30 minutes to get a drink. Starter of pan seared sea scallop with prime rib bacon on a sweet potato chip... In-cray-ob-lay!!! Duck confit with fig risotto, now that's a well done dish. Great flavors! Crab stuffed chicken was my wife's entree and she says "I can't describe just how much I love it because my mouth is still full"! Needless to say we both cleaned our plates. Now I'm wondering where our tempura blue crab sushi roll is that we ordered? It never arrived and was supposed to be our second course. We were not charged for it but that's not the point. At least 4 other tables got their sushi roll but not us. Our waiter was obviously not having his best night. Other than that, dinner was sensational.

We have visited Durango several times in the past, and Eolus had always intrigued me from the street. When we finally made Durango our home last month, I knew that I wanted to treat my family to a special celebratory dinner (our anniversary and my birthday) here. I loved the ambiance, the lighting and decor. We had a party of five and were seated inside at the very back of the restaurant in a little dining nook. I tried to reserve a rooftop table, but there were none available--not surprising as it was the Fourth of July and it's a prime fireworks viewing spot. We were happy that Eolus features some bottles of wine for $30 or less so we shared one among four of us. Their beer selections are good. I chose the Grilled Hanger Steak, medium rare. It was melt in the mouth delicious. The chili glaze wasn't too spicy, and the garlic Gorgonzola mashed potatoes were fabulous. My husband had the crab-stuffed chicken which he loved. Beet salad? Delicious. My daughter had the grilled pork chop. She's not normally a huge eater but she left only a bite of her Mac and cheese on the plate. My son had the marlin special and loved it. The bill for the five of us including drinks and tip was just over $300--pricey for us, but as I said, this was a very special occasion. I'll be back someday!

Its been one year since my husband and I ate here on our honeymoon and we were excited to come back to celebrate our anniversary. This place is incredible. We had reservations and were going to be seated inside. When we asked for the rooftop balcony instead, the hostess made it happen, no problem. The view is incredible: downtown Durango and the mountains. Our reservation was at 7 and the sun was beginning to set, the lighting was divine. Our server, Zel, greeted was a smile, bringing us water and bread as starters immediately. We wanted to start with a celebratory sparkling something and we were impressed with Zel's knowledge of the restaurant's good (but not overwhelming) selection of wines. (We overheard him suggesting wine pairings for other tables and it was obvious he really knew what he was talking about.) We went with a sparkling rosé called "J" which was absolutely the right choice. Dry but with a very small hint of sweetness to enliven the palette. Now to the food. The restaurant is farm to table and I guarantee you will not be disappointed with anything you order--its clear this restaurant takes pride in their food AND the experience-- but you HAVE to start with the Seared Sea Scallops and Prime Rib Bacon: sweet potato chip +truffle honey mustard +Turtle Lake pea vines. Mouth watering yet? For dinner, my husband ordered the Surf and Turf: butter braised Maine lobster tail +asparagus +beurre monte; filet +mashed Stubborn Farm local potatoes +peppercorn sauce. I ordered the Hamachi Volcano Roll: avocado +cucumber +wasabi sauce +green tobiko +volcano sauce +basil. This is hands down one of the best meals we have every eaten and we've been all over Europe. The food was delicious, the service was incredible and the view unrivaled. Perfect anniversary spot!

Three words sum this gem up in the mountains. Service, hospitable, and authentic. The people and the organic and gluten free options are amazing, this is the best restaurant Durango has...by the way, the rooftop experience is top-notch.

Really great meal. Highly recommend this place. I walked by three times before going in. I was a little confused by the name and the menu. I thought it was a sushi place because the appetizers are heavily influenced by sushi dishes. The entree menu was more diverse. We had the appetizer special which was a fried rice cake with a tuna layer and a fried jalapeño slice and avocado slice with a fabulous sauce drizzled on top. Great service too! I was so pleasantly surprised by this place. I look forward to eating here again.

We had a great experience at Eolus. The bartender was so much fun. She was truly a passionate mixologist. The food was very good. We had a Thai style soup that was as good as it gets. The sushi roll was delicious and the scallops were superbly prepared. Our server was great and accommodated our eclectic style of dining and made sure all was perfect. The salads were the weak spot. My Caeser was overdressed and soggy. The lettuce wasn't cold enough. Tina's salad was also heavily dressed. Fix the salads and this is a solid 5 star in Dueango... Would go back in a heartbeat

I stopped in Durango for a business trip. Locals had mentioned how great Eolus was, and it lives up to the praise. Eolus is the former Cosmos. I guess not much has changed except for the name. Service was top notch and seating is offered both inside or on the rooftop, which offers incredible views. I had to try the lobster burger. Yes, it sounded very odd to me, but I had to try it ($25). It was very good, very decadent. The beef was cooked to a perfect medium, which is what I ordered. I also had the Mexican Lager on draft and a bottle of Durango Brewing Co's Amber ale. The amber was a great pairing with the burger. I will definitely return to Eolus if I return to Durango.

After successfully dining at Ken & Sues we decided to give Eolus a try. Nice modern decor and a solid set of menu choices. My wife and I both had grass fed locally raised beef entrees which were great. The kids were happy with the kid choices as well. It is 4 stars because our waitress was not that good and also it isn't the great value K&S is. We certainly would visit again.

Always strong on food quality and taste, but a bit uneven at times when trying to get our order correct. I don't know how many times we have asked for no aioli only to have it slathered or drizzled all over our burger, sushi roll...sometimes more than once on the same visit! Nonetheless, but food and drinks are so good, I still have to give it 4 stars!

I visit Durango often and I was excited to try the lobster burger at Eolus and sit on the great roof top patio. I have eaten here in the past when it used to be Cosmos and I was thoroughly impressed. Mainly, with the great service. Good, polite service is sometimes hard to come by in Durango and EVERYONE from the hostess to our waiter was exceptional and took great care of us!

First a comment about the review on here that complained about the restaurant's prices. If the reviewer can't afford to eat at a nice restaurant, they should go eat fast food or cook at home. Don't give a bad review about a restaurant that you haven't even tried! Now about my visit here: Service was top-notch! The server handled our special requests gladly and did not have to be asked twice for any of the special requests. In addition, I asked several food specific questions and If the server did not know about something I asked about, she was very willing to find out from the owner or chef. And I asked several questions most servers would not take the trouble to ask. My water was dutifully refilled without ever asking or even allowed to get much below half full. I drink a lot of water and its nice to have service that is attentive, yet not intrusive. I ordered the "Prime Rib Two Ways". It had great flavor, but it was not marbled like I expect USDA prime rib to be. This different dish has the outer ring of the prime rib removed and rolled then smoked, and then the inner "eye" is marinated and grilled. Perhaps when it is smoked a lot of the marbling was cooked away, but I found the preparation of this cut to be very lean and un-prime rib like. The Caesar salad was tasty and they were very accommodating on adding anchovies pieces as requested. My drink was well made with good ingredients. My dining partner had the chopped salad, the menu does not mention that it is deconstructed, and for that reason, he did not expect what was served, but that was easily fixed by stirring it all together. He commented that his mojito was the best he had tasted, refreshing and not overly sweet. He ordered the grilled pork chop and was very pleased with it. The shrimp & calamari appetizer has a tasty sweet (chili?) sauce, but for my tastes, a a little less sauce would be better or perhaps serve the sauce on the side.

After a breathtaking visit to Mesa verde, drove to Durango for dinner. After browsing the three blocks comprising Main Street settled on eolus enticed by the warm lighting and general ambience /decor. We had a fabulous meal. The beet salad was perfectly flavored. The seared scallops wrapped in tenderloin bacon( a first for me) was exquisite and the smoked prime rib and ribeye doublet was sensational. To finish off had their beignets with lemon curd - better than cafe du monde. A wonderful surprise to end the day.

Initial greet service and sitting was done very well. Primary server was excellent and on-point in every way. The appetizers, entrees, and desserts were all excellent. A wonderful dining experience and will certainly go back when in town again. Thank you!

I have to agree with highland s. on their prices. this place is ridiculously expensive. now, we did not eat here, we only came in for drinks while celebrating a birthday but any of the small collections of cocktails they have are going to cost a minimum of ten dollars. they are quite good though, we tried the wildflower and big Apple, both run ten bucks. one of our group did a mohito, 12. my boyfriend got a glass of the 16 year old Islam scotch, not even two fingers will run you 18 dollars! for eight people to have one drink and one person got a plate of sushi that ran almost twenty dollars, our tab came to 110. our birthday boy wasn't even given a free drink, even though waiter said he would. this place has an absolutely wonderful atmosphere and the staff are professional, courteous and social, the food smelled excellent and looked just as well and the menu descriptions make them appetizing, unfortunately this place is just too expensive for any restaurant in this area. if you want a wonderful meal head to The Palace at the end of Main. you will not be disappointed.

Rooftop is romantic and heated - you can enjoy it all winter! The salads were delicious and creative. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. Can't wait to go back

Great meal and atmosphere. My wife and I had dinner on there rooftop patio and it was perfect. I would recommend the lobster corn dogs and the scallop appetizer. For the main, the pork and duck was delicious. We paired it all with the duckhorn sauvignon Blanc, which went very well.

Since we are from out of town we chose this restaurant due to the reviews on Yelp. Unfortunately, our experience this evening did not live up to the Yelp reviews. We ordered the pork chop and hangar steak. My husband's steak came out and the server tried to give me another meal that I did not order. He brought it to me twice assuming, I suppose, that I was confused about what I ordered. By this time my husband had started eating thinking my plate would be out shortly. At one point the waitress came over and said the food server had mixed up the orders and that my husband was eating a steak that belonged to someone else. It was almost as if we were the source of the confusion. No apology from her. She said my meal would arrive "in a little while." The meal did arrive "in a little while" but my husband has already finished eating. I began eating the pork chop but it was so tough I was barely able to cut it with a steak knife. There were chewy tendons in the chop that defied chewing. I have never had a pork chop this tough. Let's just say I was seriously disappointed. With all the problems we were experiencing, I would have thought the manager would have come by and at least offered an apology--but not even a nod from him as he passed our table. We left the restaurant with a distinct feeling of dissatisfaction--food (marginal) and service (poor). I will never go back. Durango has enough very good restaurants without having to risk another meal like this one. I do have to say that the snap peas were good--but snap peas do not make a meal!
