I have come here multiple times before deciding to write a review. Without a doubt, Zen is the go-to place for quality sashimi and rolls in the Stapleton, Northfield areas. Aside from the nice presentation which is icing on the cake, the fish here always tastes fresh, and the rolls are uniquely created with interesting ingredients and combinations. Some of my favorite items on their menu are: crab wontons, I.L.U. 0321, salmon toro sashimi and baked salmon. Currently, they are having summer cocktails with very interesting Asian-oriented flavors. I tried the Ginger Blossom and loved it: fruity and tangy flavors with sufficient EtOH to put me in a zen-like state. The restaurant has ample space for large parties, as well as for individuals who prefer to sit at a bar. The staff are consistently wonderful every time I come. Overall, I highly recommend this place.

The first clue to this place was the fact there was only one other diner when we walked in. We took the fact that it was 3 in the afternoon as a factor for the emptiness...nope. The sushi was gross. I honestly can't think of a better adjective to describe it. Disgusting? Revolting? Yuck? Tasted almost frozen at times. We will NOT be returning. About an hour later--my stomach is NOT happy with me...I'm so upset we even walked in the establishment.

I have never had worse service in my entire life than I experienced at Zen last night. First, there were multiple tables open for our party of 7 throughout the restaurant and no one in line and it took them 15 minutes to prepare a table. OK, that's fine. Once we sat down, the waitress did not introduce herself, did not explain the menu, or bring us water. We were basically ignored for 10 minutes in an empty section for a 7-top. During this time of 10 minutes of ignoring by the waitstaff, we had to swat 4-5 bugs swarming one of the tables. That should have been the straw which broke the camel's back, but we decided to give Zen the benefit of the doubt. However we were completely disappointed. After finally getting drink orders and putting in appetizers, 3 of our 6 needed refills within 10 minutes. Again, ignored. After getting new drink orders refilled and getting entree orders in, we were then ignored for yet another 10 minutes with one of our members of the group at one point standing up with his beer glass holding it in the air for 2-4 minutes, completely ignored. I remind you, this was an empty section. At that point, the waitress finally got the hint and brought out entrees for half the table. She smelled like she went out back and smoked a half a carton of cigarettes. Explains the absence. So while half the table had their food, sitting there, getting cold, while the other half of us were begging them to eat, our entrees came out 15 minutes later when our group was done. Pathetic. I do give the waitress credit, she sure was on point to bring us our tabs and try to grab them from us when we were done. FOOD: Food was very meh, some rolls were inventive and tasty others were bland and fish didn't seem the most fresh. My fiancee and others had the stirfry and described it as "icky". DRINKS: Had like 6 beers on tap and SURPRISE SURPRISE they were out of 3 of them. No IPA option on draft. We're in micro-craft brew capital of the world. That is an embarrassment. TL;DR - Don't give them your money. We should've waited the 45 minutes for La Sandia.

The weather outside is COLD. We don't want to drive across town to have Dinner, hence we "settled" to have our Dinner here. This recent visit was on Tuesday December 30th 2014. Time was about 19:30hrs ish. When we enter this establishment we are ushered to one of the Booth Seats available. There are several patrons dining in, but with this much space of Retail, the establishment seems so DEAD EMPTY. Perhaps for one, we came on a Weekday Night, and outside is somewhat bitterly cold etc. We have been to this establishment when it was named something else many moons ago. Some of the booth seating have seen their better days aka some it worn-off or "torn"... From the Menu, they offer SUSHI and "Americanized-Asian-Fusion" Cuisine. I opt to have the following items : * Yakika ($10.00) * Crab Caviar ($7.00) * Tabiko Wasabi ($4.95) * Amaebi ($6.00) * Kaibashira ($5.50) * Aburi Hotate ($6.50) * Fried Oyster ($6.95) * Tamago ($4.00) While Hubs opt to have Crispy Duck ($16.95) for his Main Entrée Dinner and Coffee as part of his beverages. The service was OK and the food came out on a timely manner. I wanted to order UNI, but they do not offer it that evening. *BIG BUMMER & SAD FACE* Hubs like his order of Crispy Duck. But to my understanding from their Menu, this dish should be with some kind of Peanut Sauce, but when we received it, it was cooked with some kind of "Soy Sauce"... Hmm... Well its kind of "misleading" but since Hubs is happy with his Dinner and like it, I am OK. After we had our Dinner, if I am NOT mistaken, one of the staffs, I think he is the Manager of this establishment, took his time to talk to us. If I am NOT mistaken his name is Richard Morse. From the conversations we shared, he said, if the UNI is NOT to the standards of the Sushi Chef, the Sushi Chef wont order it. If I am NOT mistaken, the Co Owner and the Master Chef for Zen his name is Chef Aaron Deng. Hmm... Now I know... The Manager added, that the Sushi Chef specifically will make sure all the SUSHI/NIGIRI or Frozen Items are of GOOD QUALITY. Then he pointed out in the future, they WILL NO LONGER offer the Crispy Duck in their Menu. *ANOTHER BIG BUMMER* Coz from the Restaurant point of view, if they is NO DEMAND, Its NOT FEASIBLE to provide those items in their Menu. They are in the midst of preparing a NEW MENU and this establishment SHOULD NOT BE CONFUSED to another Sushi Restaurant which has the same or similar name up in Westminster, or something. From the conversations, we had with the Manager, I also said, that they OVER-FRIED the SHRIMP HEADS, in which NOT to my liking, aka OVER-BATTERED and it was slightly salty. From my order of Sushi/Nigiri or Sushi Menu, the HIGHLIGHT dishes were : * Yakika * Fried Oyster * Aburi Hotate, aka Seared Scallops Take note, the Yakika, is WHOLE GRILLED SQUID. I did not expect this dish to comes with SALAD on its side, in which it can be filling to some. The Whole Grilled Squid is grilled to perfection, done right and good to eat! I so wish, those Salad on its side, comes with other Greens which appear to be just GREENS... Err where is the "creativity" or "uniqueness" in which I hope Zen Asian Sushi Bar & Grill can excel in the future. Above anything else, they have room for improvement in my books. I don't mind returning when needed in the future and perhaps see how my review will differ. Overall its more like 3.5 stars in our books. We wish them well in their business undertakings and hope they can remain competitive in the SUSHI and Asian establishment in this part of Neighborhood. Left this establishment about 21:00hrs ish. They are open DAILY with the following hours : * Monday - Saturday : 11 am to 10 pm * Sunday : 11 am to 9pm ZEN ASIAN SUSHI BAR & GRILL, 8354 NORTHFIELD BLVD, #1710, Denver, CO 80238 Tel : (303)-371-4644 @20/2015

Came here for lunch with my family (my son & boyfriend). They have a decent lunch special. 2 rolls for 9.95 or 3 rolls for 12.95. This place is much better now that it's under new management and not part of the Ling and Lou's franchise. We order the Asian nachos for an appetizer, and it came it surprisingly fast. It looked delicious but as soon as we took the first bite, we knew it was all looks. It was very cold and the chips had a stale taste to it. The waitress took it off our bill and returned it to the kitchen. I wouldn't recommend it. We also ordered the 3 rolls for 12.95. I had the California, shrimp tempura and a crunch crab roll. They were very tasty however very small in size so I was still hungry after eating the 3 rolls. Overall this is a decent place to get some type of Asian flavor in north field, I would recommend the sushi and possibly dishes from the menu, but stay away from the Asian nachos!

The restraunt itself is large with plenty of seating, they have a sushi bar in one area. I found the restraunt to be clean there is also a bar area with plenty of seating. The Food is great, I ordered the sushi as it's a lunch special at less than $6.00 . They have happy hour from 3pm until 6pm. I recommend this place for lunch or dinner anytime.

With unused gift cards from my birthday and desperately needing to catch up with Chelsey M, we decided to chat and nosh over our favorite....sushi!! Now this place was previously Ling & Louies, a favorite of mine. The food was cheap, the drinks were good and the staff was so nice. Since the establishment has changed, ALOT has changed. 1. The food was great! We ordered the happy hour [buy two rolls, get one free] and the sampler which consisted of a vareity of things, perfect for the two of us to split. Fried oysters, wontons, and more filled the plate and our bellies! MMMM! The rolls themselves were delish, filling and hit the spot! HOWEVER..... That was the extent of the positives. The negatives include... The service was painstakingly slow. We came in around 3pm and took advantage of the happy hour deals. there were 2 people working the bar, and the place was far from crowded. It took about 10 minutes for the bartender/server to even greet us. By the time she got to us we had figured out what we wanted to drink and eat and ordered right away. Chels ordered a tequila sunrise while i opted for an alcohol free drink, as i refuse to drink and drive, again. She took ANOTHER 15 minutes to get our drinks to us, didn't deliver our food, and took a good 15 minutes to get us our check. Our trip reflected her lack of service and i'm determined to not go back due to the service, plain and simple. I've been a waitress time and time again and understand the usual rush and how busy you can instantly become....but she had 3 people she was helping. not okay. Prices were okay, but not awesome during happy hour. $4 for a bud light is just stupid. The atmosphere is interesting....very similar to L&L but with their own added palm trees and flair. Kind of a random mix of things! After dining here, i'm not sure i'll return. #sorrynotsorry

Can't beat delicious sushi within walking distance! Can't go wrong with any of their speciality rolls, especially the Hot Lover's Roll, though the price adds up quick!

I'm not sure why this place doesn't have better reviews. First it is beautiful inside. Lots of seating with a beautiful ambiance. The staff is super friendly. Our waitress was great and had good recommendations. But the best part is the food. We ate strictly sushi. The menu is large and clearly a pan asian restaurant but it seems that sushi is their specialty. We started with the baked mussels, mouthwatering. And continued with the low carb Zen Naruto roll, red phoenix roll, and tuna and salmon hand rolls. Everything was really great. I've been to Tokyo and this fish wasn't far from. They had specialty uni and toro sushi that just melted in your mouth with each bite. This is my first time in Denver but I highly recommend this place if you are in the area and looking for sushi.

I have been coming here regularly for lunch ever since Zen was Ling and Louie's and I have always had delicious food with exceptional service. Some of my favorites include the Honey Walnut Chicken, the large Tom Kha Gai, and the sushi rolls are delicious. Bree and the other bartenders are wonderful; they are both attentive to your meal and drinks as well as great to share a conversation with. I've never had trouble getting a table, or a spot at one of the bars, and I'm always greeted with a warm smile on the way in, and a pleasant farewell when I leave. I am certain you will have a similar experience as I have and I trust that if for any reason you are not completely satisfied they will do their best to make it right. Thank you for taking such great care of me and I look forward to returning soon!

Attention: Owner/GM- Fix the service problem. First, we arrived and the hostesses were arguing about where to seat is. Then they could not fight out who was our waitress, as three came and introduced themselves at different times. Some good news in that we received our appetizers rather quickly, but after we finished eating them, we waited an additional 30 minutes for the entrees. The waitress stated that the kitchen was backed-up. To top the night off, the dish that they brought me wife was the wrong dish. Read the other posts......consistent theme is average food with HORRIBLE service.

I really wanted to like this place even though the other reviews are pretty bad. We need a good sushi spot in this area so we gave it a go. The service from the front host as well as our waitress was good today. They were both on their game. But that's really were very friendly. We ordered hot tea, vegetable tempura appetizer, sesame chicken, and the 3 roll lunch special and picked the Jacky Roll, Salmon Skin Roll and Yellowtail and Jalapeño Roll. They did not have house green tea, instead we were served hot water with a packet of Republic of Tea, lemon and honey on the side. No refill offered on that. The waitress never asked how our food was....maybe she was afraid of the answer. The tempura was super heavily breaded like fried fish. Blah! the texture was just way off. See the pics. Not light and crunchy as tempura should be. You could hardly tell what veggie it was. All the sushi rolls "looked" nice but again the flavor was just way off. I have NEVER left tempura or sushi on my plate, so today was a first but it was the worst sushi and tempura I have ever had. My kid did like the sesame chicken though and it came with fresh steamed broccoli. As we were leaving we stopped by the clean bathrooms but both soap dispensers were empty. Yuck, big gross factor for me. Unless the staff here has a private bathroom full of soap in the back it makes me wonder. Also there was a manager walking around trying to help out the staff but it looked like he kept trying to deliver food to the wrong tables. He was being directed by the wait staff instead of the other way around. Unfortunately this was a big hot mess and we will not be back.

I'm glad they changed the name and the menu at this place. I have been here twice since the changes were made and I have been happy so far. The Pad Thai is ok. Not my favorite but just Ok. The Sesame Shrimp Was OK too I Did Have THIS Fried Flour After Taste Just A Little.... The Baked Mussels were good and so were the wontons.

This is a weird part of town to try to find something decent to eat -- shopping and retail everywhere -- so it is a crap shoot. We came in for a late lunch and sat in the restaurant booth area -- not the sushi area. Servers and host were nice, but the place is slow (as in slow-pace, slow-service) and seems understaffed. Our waitress would disappear for long periods of time, and I saw her serving people over at the bar also (where was the bartender)? I asked for an entree recommendation from the waitress, and she pointed me toward General Tso's (insert chicken, beef, tofu). I usually don't order that, but if it's a house specialty I'll give it a shot. ... Result was a big fail. It is marked as "spicy" on the menu, and come on it's "the General" right? Not spicy, not tasty, just sugary syrup. Pretty disappointing. I guess this is "fusion"? The curry dish was only OK -- nothing special. For a large bar they seemed to have a very small beer selection, only a few draft beers and one of them was "out". Makes me think this place is just barely hanging on . . . The atmosphere was nice, and food so-so. Value for the money is not great either -- it was $80 for 3 people to have appetizers, entrees, and 2 very run of the mill "house" drinks. And the waitress never brought us water. If you're stranded in this part of town and need to eat, you might just be better off going to the Wahoo's down the street for a couple of fish tacos or a salad, and getting on with your life. Or at least try this place for the sushi and skip the "fusion" in the restaurant.

We tried this place out after a movie and it has become our favorite. The sushi is very fresh and master sushi chef Aaron is very talented in creating unique and creative rolls on and off the menu. The staff is incredibly friendly attentive even during busy nights with packed tables and a wait it is well worth it. The full bar and Japanese beer on tap is another plus. I would suggest our favorites but honestly everything was tasty.

THE ATMOSPHERE: I can't believe I haven't discover this little gem in the Northfield shopping district sooner! My girlfriend and I decided to give the happy hour at this place a try after shopping on a Friday afternoon. From the outside this establishment looks like many other restaurants around the area with its blue neon sign and dark tinted windows. But once we step inside those double doors we were nicely surprised by the ample lighting and spacious seating arrangement. The restaurant is separated into the bar to the left and dinning seats to the right and back. We decided to take a seat by the sushi bar because hopes of fast service of food and drinks. The sushi bar was packed by 6 pm, noise level was high but I didn't have to yell to have a conversation. THE PEOPLE: We were seated right away at the bar, and the waiter was right there and then to get us drinks and menus. Not sure if there are multiple waiting staff taking care of one seating section or what, but there were multiple servers bringing our food and drinks. They were friendly and provided suggestions for special rolls and just right balance of attention and space. We started chatting with one of the sushi chief name Aaron, friendly guy with fast, delicate hands. He made all our rolls, and really put in great efforts judge by the presentation. THE FOOD:The happy hour drinks were reasonably price, and we decided to stick with sushi since its buy two get the third roll free. This is a bistro, they serve other Asian fusion dishes in addition to sushi! We stuck with sushi instead and ordered Crispy Tuna, Spider roll, California roll, and Yellow-tail sashimi. The fish tasted fresh and food was serve within 20 minutes. I recommend getting the sake bomb for people looking to start the night, it came with big bottle of beer hitting just the spot. FINAL THOUGHT: Base on our experience, we recommend this place for people who are looking to start their Friday nights on the right note. The service was fast and friendly and the food is on par with other sushi restaurants in Denver and DEFINITELY one of the best sushi bars in Aurora. We would come back and eat at the sushi bar in the near future.

Went there for lunch, and food was delicious. Ordered lunch special and was pleased with the pricing. Very nice staff and waitress. Only reason not a five: the miso soup was standard and have had better elsewhere. Didn't see any new special rolls unique to restaurant. Will be s return customer. Oh, they also serve a full menu besides just sushi.

Zen is definitely the best sushi place in the area. Is it the best I've ever had? No, but it is not bad. Zen offers a hefty selection on their menu which is nice, but can be a bit overwhelming. I, personally, go to a sushi bar for sushi, so it doesn't bother me that much. The sushi selection is also very large, which is fantastic. There are many rolls to choose from unlike another sushi bar in the area with an incredibly limited selection. The rolls taste very fresh which is always a plus.

Can't go wrong with any of the specials. I could decide between the Goat Cheese or Blue Cheese tuna so I ordered both!

This has become our favorite sushi hangout here in Denver! You really can't beat the Happy Hour 3 for 2 special, and the house wines (at $3 per glass) are pretty good, too. Try the Pink Lady Roll or the Volcano Roll! I do think the service is a bit slow, and they obviously got off to a slow start. But I've been there about 10 times now and haven't had a bad experience.

    (5)
  • Wil L.

Ambiance was ok but the sushi was bad. It wasn't fresh. The waitress wasn't sure of the specials either. Overall the subpar taste was the biggest factor in deciding not to head back.

I had a great experience here! It is a nice upgrade from Ling and Louie's. I sat at the sushi bar and the atmosphere was great as well as the service. I would recommend the edamame as an appetizer...great seasoning, large portion. The sushi was also great. Had a rainbow roll, mango tango and a spicy tuna roll...all were great and the presentation was top notch.

Compared to Blue Fin sushi in Stapleton, this sushi place is a cut above when it comes to the quality, quantity and presentation of the sushi. It is also, remarkably, less expensive than Blue Fin. (I am comparing Zen with Blue Fin because they are the only two sushi restaurants in the area.) One drawback is the service. We have been here three times and they either get our order wrong or forget to bring water, extra napkins, more saki! lol

We had a private party and our waitstaff Adrienne & "Nacho" Ignacio were FANTASTIC. Very attentive, professional & friendly. Our entire party (25 +) were happy with Zen's food, atmosphere, and their employees. Thank you, Adrienne & Nacho!

Great PF Chang's type menu. Always love the Asian Nachos. Huge menu with lots of good variety. Hubby had sesame chicken which never disappoints and I tried something new this time with the Zens Buddha Feast with Filet minion which was succulent, tender, and flavorful. Would recommend for sure. Good value for quality of food and portion sizes. The service was slow and disjointed ( really their only downside). Manager was very responsive and receptive to comments. I hope they fix it because the food is reliably very good and I am excited to get to try more of their menu items.

My husband and I ate at the sushi bar and asked Justin, our sushi chef to make us a roll with salmon. He was delighted to work off the menu and our surprise roll was delicious. The service was very good although the music was a bit loud for conversation. We will definitely go back

I couldn't of ask for a better place to go. The food here was fresh and reasonably price. The wait staff and sushi cooks were wonderful and polite. I'd you get a chance wonder in and ask for Aaron the sushi chef he's cool as hell.

I love coming here! This restaurant is by far the best place to get sushi in the Stapleton /Northfield area. The staff are very friendly and they always make sure to check up on you. The owners of this place are also very welcoming to their guests and would personally come chat with you from time to time to get some feedback and check to see how your food is. I highly recommend this place if you are in the area for lunch or dinner! --SamAnTha

Ambience is nice. Sushi presentation is excellent. That's where it ends. Service is below par for Denver, more like Portland. Whoever made the rolls, heard of a knife,? And the spicy tuna? Not spicy, and soggy. 2 stars for ambience, 1 for presentation.

Great Sushi Restaurant in Denver, I can only compare it to great sushi restaurants in Las Vegas and Los Angeles. I had the "I love you roll" and it was amazing. the deep fried desert was amazing as well. Overall great place to have sushi!

I was walking around Stapleton and found that Ling and Louie changed to Zen. I decided to give it a try. This is the freshest sushi I have had in a very long time! I often go to Sushi Den for my sushi fix in Denver... but for half the cost, you get a better experience and better quality food. I was very pleased with my visit. My boyfriend doesn't eat sushi but he ordered the meat loaf and he said it was delicious. Another family member ordered the sliders...OH EM Geee! The meat was sooo tender! Everything we ordered was good. It included the crispy tuna, flat bread with beef, parmesan fries, heart attack roll, banzai roll, all sorts of sashimi (yellowtail jalapeno is my favorite), asian nachos, and more. The facility is clean and beautiful. The staff is wonderful and super helpful! I would highly recommend.

Last weekend our friends through us a North to Alaska party at Zen Asian Sushi Bar& Grill. Our servers were Adrianne and Ignacio. This was Ignacio's first day on the job. There were approximately 25 of us, and our orders cam out seamlessly and all the tabs were correct. This was quite a feat as we were all moving from table to table chatting. Great customer service!!! Our table ordered sushi. It was fantastic. Very fresh, lovely presentation. They have happy hour in the bar on Saturday from 3 - 6. We will be planning another soiree at the Zen Asian when we get back in October.

We went to Ling & Louie's (L&L) to find that it had changed hands and was now Zen. There weren't many people in the restaurant on Sunday afternoon, so we were initially concerned that it might not be as good as L & L. The décor is same + nice Sushi Bar that was not there previously. The menu was more extensive than L&L. The food was great! - The Filet Slider's were worth returning for by themselves. The Asian fair, including Imperial Chicken, Teriyaki Chicken, and Pad Thai were all very tasty and portions were decent for the price. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. Only negative was it took a little longer for our food to arrive at table than what I typically expect at Asian restaurant. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and will definitely return.

Me and a buddy came here after shopping at the outdoor world nearby.. We expected to have some decent sushi, but what we found was an absolutely awesome atmosphere and super fresh fish. The staff was awesome and I would recommend this place to anybody!!! Prices were pretty good and the amount of food you got was great!! If you do decide to go here the volcano rolls were excellent and the dragon rolls were even better!!

  • Lu T.

I wanted to give this place a chance after it switched from Ling and Louie's. It offered classic Asian fusion. The menu is interesting with some common Chinese items, a sushi list and then some unexpected and bizarre items like meatloaf and burgers, which seemed a bit strange. I ordered the Royal Chicken which was overdone and included burnt cashews which was disappointing. The highlight was the volcano lava cake which was good. The price for the meal is a little high and the food is only OK. The service was pretty good though. The alcohol selection is quite limited and being in Colorado, you would expect more local beers - but none were appealing. I am sad to say, I miss Ling and Louie's... while not amazing, they were at least predictable. I would eat elsewhere if in the Stapleton area.

In fairness because I am not a sushi person I have to rate this establishment at a two. The service was horrible and the food was not flavorful or had wrong flavor. The restaurant states they offer a gluten free substitutions but the waitresses do not know this which makes for an irritating experience for those of us with celiac disease. The scenery is beautiful and the sushi looks really good but the pad Thai and fried rice is terrible. My bf did not like his sesame chicken either. To me it was not authentic. But a good try.

I was pleasantly surprised with the food here. We had several sushi rolls, a shrimp wok entrée, and sesame chicken. Everything was good, especially the sesame chicken which was super crunchy and had all white meat! Had to take away a star for the slow service, and limited alcohol selection.

Sushi is awesome here! And let me tell you that I personally know that the Chef Aaron picks out his fish daily from fresh, high end distributors that get there fish flown in fresh daily, similar to sushi den. The quality and atmosphere are great for this area and honestly beat out closer sushi places such as Blue Fin, etc. Behind the scenes many people don't realize that there are really bad sushi distributors in Denver, Chef Aaron definitely steers clear of these and you can taste it in his relentless passion for quality.....

Wife and i went there for happy hour. We ordered one shrimp and one veggie tempura plate. The shrimp plate had only two really small shrimp with tons of veggie. both plates were enough food for 3 people only thing is that they were greasy. I would never go there again!

Came here for a family lunch while out shopping since we thought it looked good. Food was decent, the "spicy" dish had no heat at all. The problem is the service. Waited 10 minutes to get greeted, server had no knowledge of the menu, app came out at the same time as the entrees, then waited another 30 minutes to get the check and pay. The food dictated that we might come here again, but the service means we will never return. Advice: get off your phone and check on your table every once in a while.

Went here with several friends from work for lunch. I ordered the Thai Drunken noodles and so did one of my friends. No spice in this dish at all....tasted like chicken and noodles with some basil....very disappointed. We told the waitress and she brought over some sauce to put in our noodles. Ok.....why don't you prepare it like the menu says....my friends and I were very disappointed. We work close by and are willing to try it again as it seems to be hit or miss. I was here before they changed to Zen. Wish it was the other menu, although they say they have some of the older dishes. Waitress seemed polite but didn't really seem like she cared if we were happy with our food at all. It was about noon when we got there and not very busy either. Like the old Menu much better. Clean restaurant. Nice atmosphere. Just not sure I would come back as the area has several restaurants in walking distance. Too bad.

We were getting bored of going to the same sushi place so we decided to try out Zen. We'd been there before but never got sushi. Now, we may never go again withOUT ordering sushi! It was amazing... fresh, creative and delicious. To make it even better, we sat at the sushi bar and got to watch it being made by the owner Aaron himself. He was super informative and friendly. The whole meal was incredible. Highly recommended!

Went here last Saturday. We sat at the Sushi bar and ordered several items. Starting talking with the one of the guys preparing the Sushi and it was Aaron an owner. He shared he had worked at Sushi Den for a few years and decided to open his own place. We really liked the creativity of each roll. Also the Nigiri was very fresh. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend Zen Asian.

Amazing service and fresh sushi. Co-owner Aaron made our sushi and chatted the entire time showing us different interesting things about the fish they use. It was the freshest sushi we have ever had. Will never go anywhere else. So glad to have one closer to us.

Decided to try it for lunch. Promptly greeted and seated. Our waitress was rude and took long taking orders and checking on us. Ordered pad Thai and peanut curry. Both dishes were flavorless ant not spicy at all. Not recommended at all

Got the volcano, caterpillar, and golden mango rolls. All three were delicious! Had a bad experience across the street at Toby Keith's so this mended our broken hearts. Adrienne was our waitress and she was great..definitely recommend this place!!

Have to update this review since the name change to Zen. Much better than Ling and Louie food wise anyway. Had the Pad Thai this time flavorful, right amount of spice. Others at the table had drunken noodles. Disappointed:(. Had to ask for hot pepper sauce. Getting there:)

I like this place. Been here for lunch and dinner. Sushi is good; hot plates are good; service is solid; decent kids menu. I will come here often. It isn't ever super busy and they have happy hour too. Nice to see some decent places moving into Northfield.

I really miss the Ling and Louies that used to be here. I called to place an order based upon their online menu. I was never given a total and they told me it would be ready in 10 minutes. Once I came into the restaurant there was no one at the counter (suprisingly because I came around the lunch hour) and had to track down a waitress who said she would grab the host for me.(on a side note, when the new management took this place over they didnt remove any of the Ling and Louie decor and even kept their previous restaurants awards on the wall which I thought was odd.) the The young man came to the counter and quoted me $18 somthing dollars for a lunch portion sesame chicken and some crab chesse wontons. I asked how that was possible considering their website had said $6.99 for the entree and $3.95 for wontons. He said he wasent sure, so I asked him to remove them off of my bill and take them back. Once I got back to work, opened a very tiny container of sesame chicken and rice which did not even look like a lunch portion. The sesame chicken was watery and unflavorful. I will not be visting this location again and wish I could give it no stars.

The two employees ignored us at the entrance. There were less than 5 tables seated in the whole place but it took almost an hour from entering to get appetizers. Waitress forgot to put order in said manager when he came out ten minutes after the bartender/other waitress came over and asked us which two sushi rolls we ordered because their computer was down and she didn't drop our order off. Also our waitress couldn't be found by the other waitress that's why she came to ask. The manager smugly told me he was less likely to help us out because I "dropped the f-bomb" and I said I get aggravated when starving and so was my dad who was up since 3am and we just picked up at the airport. So the nasty appetizers came out, but no sushi. Then the sushi came out and it was the worst looking sweet potato roll I've seen in my 15 years eating them. Also we said 10 times NO EEL. Of course there was eel. The sushi also came with the bill, which is abnormal from a timing perspective but they wanted us to know we would be receiving no discount whatsoever.

First time at Zen since it was Ling & Luie ... Wow what a difference. Ordered the calamari.... Tiny rings and like eating cardboard. Closer examination revealed the rings looked freezer burned ... Next came the soup...nice flavor until I got to the little bites of chicken... Some of them really tasted like old chicken bites. They tasted as though they were prepared and bagged up several days before. We will not return...
