Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

We order from here quite often because it's convenient and close to where we live but the quality is always hit or miss. We've had meals that have been fantastic and then the next week we order the same thing an sits not nearly as good as the time before. The prices are also pretty high compared to other places though Chinese food in general is somewhat had to find in the Uptown/Cap Hill/ Five Points area. We tend to order Kung Pao Chicken, Cashew Chicken, Sesame Chicken or Pad Thai. The spring rolls are fine but nothing special. I'm sure we will continue to order from here because of convenience but it's disappointing that the quality is always so inconsistent.

When I was little(r) I really tried hard to get a star on my work product. So maybe that's also Wok Uptown's idea. Well they've wildly succeeded. By serving me a dish made with oil that tasted rancid they get that coveted star review. Congratulations, WU, you totally "eek-ed" me out. Sign me, David "No 'Ni Hao' " M.

DO NOT TRY!!! We wanted to try a new Asian restaurant on a Sunday. Looked on GrubHub and found this place. Most places that deliver on GrubHub charge a delivery fee. This one was $5. We also tipped on top of that. Got a call from the driver when he was 5 minutes out asking which door we would be at. When asked if he was coming up to our apartment, he said he never goes to the specific door and that we'd have to come down. That was annoying as we paid for delivery PLUS TIP, but we brushed it off. Upon opening our food, we discovered that the Chicken Panang Curry was more Veggie Panang with a few SCRAPS of chicken. NOT EVEN ENOUGH FOR ONE FULL SERVING!!! Crab Cheese Wantons were also over cooked and not great. We'll NEVER order from here again! DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!

This is a true story. Although the names have been changed to protect the innocent, everything is exactly as it happened. We ordered from Wok Uptown a couple weeks ago and it was great. We decided to order again the following week. The person who answered the phone. Let's call him "James" (who I suspect was also the delivery driver) was rude and curt. At one point, he asked me what kind of rice I wanted with my meal. I foolishly blurted out "steamed!" My girlfriend said "no hon, fried." The guy heard her and said "steamed? Fried? Steamed? Fried? WHICH IS IT DUDE?" I let that go. Then he rushed me through the order. I felt like I was on a time clock. And if I didn't get his answers correct, he was going to hang up the phone. Weird right? So an hour later, the food shows up. My girlfriend volunteers to go down to the lobby to meet him and get our food. When she gets there, he says to her that he was expecting some guy, but that she was so beautiful that she made his night, blah-blah-blah. Was she flattered? No, she was creeped out. The food was cold but good. So the next day, we decided to order from them again despite what had transpired earlier. This time, when she met with him to get the food. He asked her out! She politely declined. He then proceeded to continually text her to ask her out on a date. Keep in mind that he got her number because she ordered food from the restaurant. Not because she wanted to be harassed by the delivery guy! When we got our dinner, I think there were 3 pieces of chicken and it was cold and over done. So I agree with one of the reviewers when he said this place was "hit or miss." Bottom line? Between the rudeness, late delivery, hit or miss cuisine and the harassment, we will never order from here again!

We used to order lunch from here more frequently, but it really seems it's just gone down hill. We ordered the sesame chicken and the lo mein lunch specials today and I'm very unimpressed. The lo mein was greasy, overcooked, and hardly had any meat. The sesame chicken was overbreaded and chewy- in a bad way. The consistency was just really off. I won't be dining here again, and seriously if anyone has a suggestion for good chinese food in Denver- I AM ALL EARS!
(2)Nick J.
The food quality has continued to decrease from Wok Uptown over the years tremendously! The last 3x we have ordered food from them has been really horrible. It almost feels like their business isn't doing well so they have been cutting numerous corners in order to save profits. This in return equals crap food most of the time for their customers. I would suggest with all the new competition in town that they step-up there Chinese game or else bye-bye!

I really wanted to give this place the benefit so we gave it a try. I walked in and was greeted promptly. We ordered food to go. There were 2 of us and we ordered what would be a basic meal at a chinese restaurant. 1 appetizer, 2 dishes and some noodles. The price? Almost 60 bucks. I was a bit shocked at the prices, but we were there and I didn't feel like going anywhere else. Rude? Not at all. The staff up front were very friendly. They offered us tea while we waited for our to-go order and then brought it out promptly. So aside from the high prices, so far the experience warranted maybe a 3-star review. I get home, open our food and as I start to dish out the sesame chicken, there is a very long, black hair mixed right into the food. Absolutely disgusting. Had this been dollar chinese food I would have said, "Ya get what you pay for." But with the price we paid for this food, that is absolutely unacceptable. Like I said earlier, I was tired and hungry and it was cold and snowing outside so I was in no mood to go back to the restaurant to complain. We simply tossed the sesame chicken out and ate the rest. The rest of the food was ok. Seriously, nothing to rave about. Overall, the quality of the food is not worth the prices they are charging and the lack of quality that resulted in a long piece of hair in our food leave me no choice but to rate this place with one star. Get it together Wok Uptown!
(1)Mario G.
The food here is great but an hour an a half to get the food to eat it. Not on my A list.
(3)Alex D.
Absolutely terrible food. Disgusting. Delivery is fast-ish and that's the only perk, but I won't be calling them again.
(2)Jeff G.
I've only been here once but I have to say I'm surprised by the low Yelp rating on this place. Service was top notch from the beginning to the end of the meal. My Thai green curry was among the best I've had in Denver and my girlfriend's Lo Mein was exactly what she (a Lo Mein connoisseur of sorts) looks for. They forgot an order of rice that came with our meal but they brought it out quickly after it was brought up, comped our crab cheese wantons (which were also great) and gave us some free cookies after apologizing profusely. Prices were moderate - not sure what $60 order person got but I'm guessing it wasn't just two entrees. Atmosphere was quiet and pleasant, especially considering this place is located on a very busy street corner.
(5)Sta C.
I've never left a review before but I just have to say im glad the driver forgot half of my order because this was the absolute worst beef and broccoli I've ever had. It's literary inedible. Furthermore the rest of the food would pass for a hospital cafeterias attempt at Chinese food. An hour later and my stomach hurts like hell. Ugh
(1)Shea W.
I'm surprised to see all the negative reviews on service! When I called to order, I thought the 2 people I spoke with were very polite! Nothing amazing or earth shattering customer service wise but I'm not exactly sure what you expect when ordering takeout? The most I expect is a "hello, what would you like. Ok the price is ___" and that's what you get. Who need frills on the phone when ordering Mu Shu Pork? Anyway, rant over. Delivery guy was so friendly and the food came in about 40 minutes which I've found is pretty typical for my busy neighborhood. Mongolian beef is EXCELLENT. Its one of my favorite dishes and I'm always looking for one that that is extra peppery and onion-y. This place delivered on that. Also the beef was maybe the most tender I've had from a delivery place! Wontons are basic wontons, which of course means they're good and ours were free! I'm not sure why but I say anything free is A-OK! Orange chicken: great. The aforementioned Mu Shu Pork: Delish. Overall, food is delicious, delivered quickly and with a smile. A pretty cute delivery boy smile, if you ask me. They DID forget one of our orders of rice which was pretty sad because I was looking forward to trying the fried rice. I will absolutely be trying this place again! Huge menu with lots of basic meat, vegetable and sauce combinations.
(3)Charras H.
Food is awesome lots of good flavors good on delivery. The people on the phone tries to rush your order on the phone, but other then that food is Good.
(4)Tobin H.
I liked my food, the Cantonese Noodles. The price for a single person, small egg drop soup and a meal, no drink, for takeout...$18. Ouch! Not worth it, not even close.

Number 1 COMPLAINT is this: 4:30 pm - 9:30 pm on a Saturday?! When they open at 11am on every other day of the week. :( I love this place, they are the only Asian delivery place that caters to gluten free in my area(or at least the only one I have found and can trust). But I hate that when I wake up from my TGIF night of drinking, that I can't order any Chinese food. WHY on a Saturday do they not open until the evening??? Can't they open late on a Monday or some useless day during the week that no one cares if they only open for dinner. I gotta say... it's really disappointing. I get delivery from here more than any other place in Denver and I feel like they are loosing out on alot of orders due to the Saturday hours. PLEASE open at 11am on weekends!
(4)Amy J.
This place is great. Everyone that answers the phone when you call for delivery is amazing. There is a girl named D that is so kind. The food is great and very consistent. Its hard to take calls all night from cranky people that need to eat and I think we all can appreciate the space they live in.
(5)Thaddius B.
If you like very average to below average Asian food with little vegetable variety with nothing unique or tasty about it then you may be OK with this place. For me there is just way to many other options out there that are less expensive and better tasting. I thought this same thing years ago but decide to give it another try and that will be the last time. The food is not awful just not that good. People who rate this place high have not had good Asian food before or have found things on the menu that I have not.

I WILL NEVER GO TO WOK UPTOWN EVER AGAIN. I ordered on a Sunday afternoon at 2:30p. They said it'd take an hour for delivery, which I already anticipated and understood. Then, the driver absolutely ruined my experience with Wok Uptown. At 3:35p, he called to confirm at which entrance to meet me and that he'd be at my complex in a few minutes. So, within 30 seconds of ending the call, I went to wait for the driver at the door I directed him to. I stood outside for 5 minutes (from 3:35p to 3:41p), and did not see any delivery drivers (only 2 cars drove by during that time, both full of passengers). He called at 3:41p to say he was leaving "because I never met him." After I explained that I waited outside for 5 minutes by the door, he argued that "I must really not want my food so he doesn't want to deliver it." After he threatened to not deliver my food, he finally decided to meet me. (Really? How grateful of you to meet me for the service I PAID YOU to perform.) I immediately went outside again and he STILL wasn't there. Then, he came speeding around the corner, stopped in the middle of the road and he yelled again "I DONT HAVE ALL FUCKING DAY TO WAIT FOR YOU" as he threw my food at me through his open window, and then started to speed off again. Before he left, I explained AGAIN that I waited 5 minutes before going inside for 30 seconds to get his number to call. He was absolutely the RUDEST person I've ever dealt with (and that's coming from a long-time restaurant worker). If that's how he interacts with Wok Uptown's customers (or if this is indicative of how all of their employees act), then you all need to understand that's not how you treat/talk to paying customers. This was my first experience with Wok Uptown and it will be my last. He didn't leave a name anywhere on the receipt, but I have his phone number if the business owner cares enough to correct a horrible, horrible employee. So, if you still want to give business to Wok Uptown after this review, then the food was mediocre, at best. And (not surprisingly) it was cold when it arrived.
(1)Erica G.
I've eaten here in the past quite a lot and always thought it was good. Recently, I got take out and wow was it not good. It wasn't horrible it just had absolutely no flavor. I got Happy Family, two egg rolls, a wonton soup, miso soup and Pork Fried Rice. We could have made it ourselves at home with a recipe and been this good. It was so disappointing. There is really no good Chinese in Denver. Little Ollies in Cherry Creek used to be amazing and again ate there recently and blah...
(1)Gordie R.
Service was terrible. Ordered for a delivery within a mile. Called close to an hour after and they noted a time to the minute that would make an hour because 58 minutes is not an hour. Driver called to let us know he was in the lobby. Assuming he would bring the food to the apt we waited. He called back and said they "dont do that" so we said we would be right down. Driver left and when we called the delivery line again we were told pretty much nothing and were given no options for the problem to be remedied. I laugh at all the responses from the owner on google reviews. If you have to keep explaining yourself the blame likely isnt with the people complaining. Never ordering from here again. Food has been far below average in the past so blessing in disguise I guess.
(1)matthew b.
The food is the least of their problems. Called for delivery, and was told the food would be here in 45 minutes. An hour and a half later my wife called and was told off by the guy who answered the phone. I called and talked to a different guy who insisted there was NO WAY they'd originally told us the order would be there in 45 minutes. He then said, "We can throw the order away if you want. This is Wok Uptown, we are too busy to get deliveries out in 45 minutes." When I said it as ridiculous that it had already been an hour and a half he shrugged it off and said, "This is the best Chinese restaurant in Denver..." With rude, disrespectful, arrogant asses manning the phones it won't be long until they are dead enough to get food out in a reasonable amount of time. If you have a couple hours and a desire to be disrespected by a 20 year old employee, then by all means order from Wok Uptown. If you'd actually like to eat, order from someone else. Oh, and when the food finally arrived I chatted with the delivery driver who was a really nice guy. He apologized for the attitude I'd run into, and added that the people answering the phone had cost him tips on numerous occasions. I ended up giving him a tip. It's not his fault they hamstring him before he even leaves the restaurant with late food and argumentative customer service. The food was nothing to write home about either. Salty brown beef and broccoli, and syrupy sweet orange chicken is cheaper at Great Wall, and they are only a-holes if you're a homeless guy loitering in the lobby.

Never again.... The Delievery guy was so rude! I said thank you and he turned away without saying anything! I ordered take out about 2 months ago.. Got soooo sick. I thought I would try it again & yes got sick again! Had sweet & sour chicken. Their chicken is not cooked throughly. Stay away from this place. Bad service & horrible food.
(1)Pedro S.
the rudest staff in denver -- also be advised we suffered food poisoning on our last order and the manager refused to even speak to us. avoid this place !!!!
(1)Ahmed T.
Very RUDE people. My wife was home with our sick baby, she ordred some food for dlervery the driver wanted her to go downstairs to the loby to meet him. He said those are the rules, he was very rude and said if you don't like it just cancel the order. Never going here or ordering from here again ...
(1)Christina A.
I went in just once. I've ordered delivery from there more than a dozen times. For a while it was the only option in the area. Thankfully, that's changed. The food is sub-par. The ambiance in their restaurant is non-existent. I can get past that. The service? Horrendous. Nothing like having your server roll their eyes when you flag them because you need something, and they're doing nothing but standing around and gossiping with the other employees. Really? Sorry to interrupt your convo, chica, but in case you didn't notice, you're at work. Let's talk delivery: they suck. The delivery times are horrible. Twenty minutes? Try more like an hour- and your food will be cold. I live in a condo, and they're simply too lazy to ride an elevator to deliver. They require that every unit in here (all 150 of us) meet them in the lobby. They are the only delivery in town that demand this. Most in our building have boycotted them. Besides, there are others who have better food, want our business, and have no problems being nice to their customers.
(1)Jennifer J.
I was very disappointed with their service. I called to place my order and ask a question and the "manager" on duty raised his voice with me and sassed me with his responses. I then continued my order and he continued to be rude and said so what do you want do, you want to place your order or not. I placed it, but then decided to call back and ask to speak with the manager he said he was he manager, which at that point I decided I didn't want to give this establishment my business and cancelled the order and he raised his voice again and hung up on me. I will be calling back tomorrow to ask to speak with another manager and/or owner. I will not eat here or recommend it to any of my friends based solely on their terrible customer service!!
(1)Gab C.
VERY RUDE! Terrible customer service! I was hung up on because I didn't give them my credit card info fast enough! I called back and spoke with a manager and he sounded very disinterested and said he'd talk to the guy and then call me back. He never called back. The food is okay, but I'll never be ordering there again. They have been rude in the past, but never that severe. Luckily there is better Chinese out there anyway.
(1)Michael R.
Decent grub, but $14.00 for dinner (x2) Add the Delivery charge 2 bucks, add the tip! $50 bucks for this!
(1)Chava D.
I was so disappointed. The ladies working the counter were very nice and the restaurant cute. I had driven by this restaurant many times over the years but never had the opportunity to dine. I ordered the sesame tofu. It was a little pricier, at around 11.99, than I normally pay in my wash park neighborhood. It had no vegetables with it so I asked if they could add some. I expected a few extra dollars but it was close to $6.50! Almost $25 for wonton soup and 1 entree with veggies. Wow! I could of dined in somewhere and gotten a fairly substantial meal for that price. At least I thought I would have leftovers. First the wonton soup. The broth was nice but the wontons had little filling and, maybe it's not authentic, but there were no veggies or fried noodles to put on the soup. The entree - I expected a fairly nice side of vegetables for 650 but I only had 1 box with the sesame tofu and about a half a cup of veggies. The sales ticket said I would have snow peas, broccoli, onions and carrot. There was 6 broccoli tops and about 12 snow peas. I almost never call to complain about things or send food back but $18.50 for 1 entree of fried tofu and a few vegetables- rediculous! The lady I spoke to on the phone was very nice and apologetic. She offered to give me a free appetizer when I came in next. I didn't want a free appetizer just some money back. They took $4 off the vegetables and told me I could still have a free appetizer. Though I appreciated their kindness, for the prices this place charges, for what you get, I will try my luck at another restaurant.
(1)Carly B.
Boring...served with a side of "I might fall asleep just thinking about it." I've recognized that we live in a delivery void of Denver. We live just outside of Wokano's deliver area and it's a crying shame. This place seemed close enough that free delivery would be available. WRONG. It's $2 because we're about four blocks out of the free zone (which is a rectangle). Mind you, according to their map, free delivery can be had as far southeast as 3rd and Colorado which is definitely twice as far as we are. I know it's just $2, but we ordered $30 worth of stuff and the map should be reconfigured. On to the food. It's okay. Fortunately for me, I tend to overeat when we order Asian delivery, but my garlic eggplant entree didn't have me clamoring for more so I didn't overstuff myself. Think light sauce with little to no spice/garlic flavor and really boring, limp veggies (cabbage, bamboo shoots, peppers and onions). Veggie eggrolls were really greasy. Wontons were a tad on the dry side. Hot and sour soup was pretty standard, a bit on the sweeter side. Dinner entrees will run you about $11 which is waaaay too much for standard Asian delivery fare, especially with so many other options (that are just a tad out of delivery reach). I'm willing to give it another chance. Maybe they're really awesome at noodles or egg foo yong. But next time I have a craving, I'm just driving to Wokano and picking it up.
(2)Alex W.
I always pick the food up because it is right by my house, the delivery times can be pretty long. I think it is consistently really fantastic food, the sauce is great and not too salty, the veggies are fresh.. as in it doesn't succumb to the normal problems cheap Chinese food usually does.
(4)Leah R.
Awesome for delivery and I've even been inside for take out and didn't get creeped out! Granted we've only ever gotten the General Tsao's and Kung Pao but we keep getting them so...
(4)Mewstertu M.
Just got delivery and I will absolutely order again. Finally a place with good Thai food! I've tried 6 Asian restaurants in Denver and they are all not worth writing about. The chicken here is good, not chewy. The panang curry actually had flavor. They also throw in a free order of crab cream cheese wontons with orders over $25. So good! The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because I was told it would be here in 45 minutes but it took 1:05. The driver was nice though. Edit: I used to enjoy this restaurant but after a few times, I realized the food was ok but not authentic Thai. I love Thai and Wok Uptown is one of the better Thai restaurants but not great. I change my review from a 4 to a 3. Go to Thai Monkey Club. Amazing authentic Thai.
(3)Sherri K.
This is a neighborhood favorite - it's close and it's fast. That being said, the service leaves a little to be desired. Please do not turn the lights off in order to "hint" to me you are ready to close. A polite sentence, "excuse me but we will be closing in 10 minutes" would have been more appropriate. The portions are huge - easily shareable. Probably "take-out" would be the better choice, to get the best effect of this restaurant, but they put the tables in, not me.
(3)LaTonia W.
I hate to have to do this but the food is just not worth the price. I feel like we got a good amount for our delivered order but it was just not that good. The Lo Mein noodles were SUPER DRY and there was like barely any shrimps in it. WTHeck! If I order shrimp in a dish, I want to be smacking on some shrimp in just about every bite. The sesame chicken was all dark meat and was just okay in flavor. The mongolian beef was the best but it was so something (don't even know what to say) that I would pass on it the next go around (not that there will be a next go around). The food stinks (not literally) and I DEFINITELY WON'T BE BACK! Sorry Wok Uptown. For those prices, you really need to get your ACT together. That was a waste of $41 (in a recession might I add) for our family which could've been well spent somewhere else. SMH!
(1)Andreas H.
What a nice surprise. I stopped in here for lunch yesterday and had the double cooked pork lunch special ($7.95). The pork was delicious, the sauce was very nice, and the veggies were crisp and sweet. I was impressed with how UN-greasy it all was. The only thing that was truly average was the eggroll and the fried rice. On top of the tasty food, the lady working the counter (server, host, etc.) was extremely friendly. Long story short, this little restaurant would easily be on my speed-dial for delivery if I lived in the area.
(4)Shelby J.
I could take or leave Wok Uptown. They are close to my apartment and the food was okay. Word of caution though the dinner portions are huge! I shared a plate and some edamame with my husband and we were both stuffed by the end of the meal. I will probably come here again when I am craving super americanized "chinese" food which doesn't happen very often but it does in fact happen.
(3)Jessica B.
I have lived in Denver for the past year and have ordered delivery every time except for once and have yet to have a single delivery problem. I am not sure if I have just been lucky after reading the reviews, but each time it has been one of two guys delivering. They are always early and polite. I was quite surprised by the reviews with complaints on the delivery service. The food is yummy for "delivery" and the portions are large. All and all I am pleased. My only complaint would be that when I ask for "extra spicy" it's never hot enough.
(4)Zahara S.
No, not if you want delivery. Sub par service. Owner has a greater than thou attitude. Try a different place and spare yourself. Greasiest egg-rolls I've every had. Fried rice is tasteless. Just because they leave off the MSG doesn't mean you are getting healthy food. Sometimes it's necessary to just push back and say life is to short to put this garbage in my body. Those of you who dine at McDonald's occasionally may not understand that.
(1)Leah A.
Actually I recently ordered delivery from Wok Uptown. I had no problems with them at all. My food arrived about a half hour after I ordered it, and it was nice and hot.
(4)Alissa R.
i am so P.O.'d right now. i work in a hospital and by myself on this particular day, upon ordering i left instructions on how to get to my office as i am unable to leave it due to the nature of my job. the driver left my order halfway across the hospital at the emergency room security desk! (the guard there said that the driver told him 'HE WAS TOO BUSY TO DELIVER TO MY OFFICE!') i was not even able to sign the receipt. i called the restaurant back and was like "WTF?" and they basically did nothing but call the driver back to come get the food TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE RESTAURANT (not me!) i had to ask the hospital supervisor if they could bring the food to me, still waiting to see if that happens....i will update my review in a bit IF i actually get the food, which by the way was 17.00 for one person.... so, i finally got the food after the driver left it at the wrong location. the food is horrible, there are ingredients missing, the shrimp are rock hard, it is just super horrible all around. i called back to speak with a manager, but i got the guy who poorly delivered my food instead(super rude), his name is supposedly "june". upon asking for the managers name i got this response "well, do you speak chinese because thats all he speaks" i asked again for the managers name and he replies "um...well, okay, i guess i am the manager" huh?? anyway, i asked if i could have a refund, his response "no you got the food" i asked to speak with his REAL manager again and he says "listen, its not a big deal, get over it" i reiterated about the missing stuff and poor quality of the food and his response "get over it, don't eat here anymore". he went on to be even more rude and refused to give me the managers name. i am floored at how terrible the whole delivery system is, and not to mention the bad food. DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE, SAVE YOUR MONEY and choose thai basil or one of the other many asian places around. *i called back to explain that i would be disputing the charge, the same "june" answered and said "fine, have fun paying the 25.00 fee to do that." and hung up on me. 30 minutes later i get a call at work from a POLICE OFFICER(i checked it out, and yes it really was a cop) the officer stated she was investigating a possible 'theft"from wok uptown? WTF? that since i had accepted the food already, disputing it with my cc company could result in a "theft" charge! blah blah blah. this is SOOOO ridiculous. i am in complete shock over this. consumer affairs here i come! and i still disputed the charge, intimidation no work on me.

This evening we finally made it here! We have seen this place many times on our way to Colfax from home. Definitely a cute place! Not a ton of seating but we went early and had no trouble! Also not a ton of parking, so that could be tough on a crowded night! The staff was very friendly, my water glass was always fun, and the food was great! Hubby got Mongolian BBQ and will be ordering it extra spicy next time! I got the beef with broccoli- extra broccoli - and it was very good. We started with Crab Rangoon, it came out quickly, hot, and yummy! We'll definitely come here often for take out! Can't wait to try the other options!

The best thing about this place, for me, is the free wontons since we always order enough to get them. The food is okay but their meat is questionable. I now stick to the beef entrees since I have had some 'experiences' with the chicken entrees.

At its best, Wok Uptown is some of the best Americanized Chinese in Denver. (If you want real Szechuan, go to China Jade in Aurora). But it's important to know that the menu is a little hit or miss. Of the dishes I've tried: Delicious: Drunken Noodles with Chicken Lettuce Wraps Vegetable Moo Shu Panang Curry White Meat Sesame Chicken Orange Chicken Szechuan Green Beans (with or without chicken) Beef Chow Hor Fun Master Lee's Healthy Rice (hint: it's not all that healthy, but it is delicious) Good But Nothing Special: Crab Cheese Wontons Egg Rolls Wonton Soup Lemongrass anything Sacha anything Ma Po Tofu Lemon Chicken Singapore Rice Noodles Terrible: Hot & Sour Soup (I know. WTF?) Sesame Tofu Pad Thai If you dine in, the atmosphere is quite casual and the service is hit or miss -- they mostly do takeout and delivery. Takeout is AMAZINGLY fast. Delivery is almost always accurate and reasonably fast (45 mins) or else super-fast (15 mins). Oh, and you get free stuff (egg rolls, crab cheese wontons, chicken salad) if you order over a certain $ amount. Who doesn't like free stuff?
(4)Keith C.
I liked it. The food was good, lo mein soft and tender tho I do wish the pork was a bit more fried. The Orange chicken was tasty but could have used some thai chilis or pepper flakes make a tad more spicy. Still was tastya dn teh chicken was fresh and tender (very important). But it did have a San Francisco Chinatown type whole in the wall of a place which I love and grew up on.

Oh, Wok, my relationship with you is much like my dating life for the past year. You look good on paper, and everyone talks so highly of you. I keep running into people who know you, and you know what they say about coincidences. We started texting, and you tempted me with your honeyed words. And our first date was pretty great! But at the end of the day... it just ain't working for me. Am I just picky? I've waited this long for awesome Chinese, why not wait a little bit longer? Maybe it's me, not you. Maybe I'm ordering the wrong things. You attempted to butter me up with those free, hot and greasy eggrolls with spicy or sweet dipping sauce. You impressed me with your accurate delivery timing. Your delivery peeps are even so nice and friendly I want to hug them every time. But my verdict doesn't go above a-ok. Everything has been okay, but I'm just not feeling the chemistry. Note: I wasn't joking about the texting. Sign up for their text program and get 15% off your first order.
(3)Audrey G.
I was pretty disappointed in the lunch I ordered from here. I ordered the chicken lomein and got a big pile of greasy noodles with 4 or 5 tiny pieces of chicken. This wasn't worth the price or the long wait for delivery.
(2)Erica K.
Food is alright but every time we get it delivered they take forever, forget something, etc service for delivery sucks
(2)Erin H.
This place is amazing. Well we have never visited the actual location but do order for delivery at least once every other week. First, lets start with the soups. The war wonton is to die for! While all of the other soups are on par for the standard soups, this soup sets Wok Uptown apart. The broth alone is sensational. My Fiance loves to order a large for himself alone! Now on to aps. While these are fresh and good, the quantity received of everything other then the crab rangoons, leaves something to be desired. For the price you're paying, at least for me, I expect more. The dumplings, both steamed and fried are great. The egg rolls are tiny but nummers. I'm not super impressed with the beef skewers, they are not consistent and tend to be dry. The entree portions, for both lunch and dinner are however well worth the price. If you like spice, always ask for extra extra spicy. My favorite entree is the Chicken with Hot and Spicy Sauce. It is perfect! Its an amazing combination between sweet and sour chicken and very spicy chicken. I can not get enough, and to be honest this is from a women who can not stand sweet and sour chicken because its so sweet. In almost any other dish I do suggest opting for the beef or shrimp over the chicken. I don't know why but the chicken is often off in everything but the Chicken with Hot and Spicy.

Horrible customer service. Will never order from this place. The food was nasty & was delivered cold. Big waste of money. Never going to recommend anybody to this restaurant . Customer services was a big 2 thumbs down. 10/14/13
(1)Melissa T.
Let me preface this by saying I'm pretty easy when it comes to food. I'm quite picky about service, but as far as cuisine goes I'm extremely easily impressed. But even I and my unsophisticated palette were underwhelmed by the food. We got garlic vegetables with brown rice, egg rolls, and crab cheese wontons. The veggies were bland (a dish marked as spicy!), the egg rolls didn't have any flavor either and seemed stale, and even the wontons -- deep fried cheese! -- were just okay. The dough part seemed sort of hard and crunchy instead of golden brown and more crispy like at other places. Now, I will give them credit for lightening fast delivery! But if that's the highlight...
(2)Boba F.
i can only speak to the general tso's chicken. i'm guessing there was chicken in there but all i could identify was rock hard little breaded clumps covered in bland sauce. maybe their other dishes are bolder in flavor but everyone knows general tso is chicken.

Wok-a-wok-a. If you've never been, it's a charming little joint that has your traditional Chinese fair, but nothing spectacular. Perfectly pleasant for a quiet dinner , and I hear that they do a good job delivering, if you feel like staying in. Be forewarned, however, that unless you are in their 'convenient' proximity, they will charge extra to deliver. I, living only 10 blocks away, was surprised to find out that they charged an extra $2 bucks to deliver to 'my side of town'. Lame. Still, food was pretty good.
(3)Shawn S.
By far the best Asian food delivery in Denver. There isn't an item on the menu that will disappoint. The meat (which I'm extremely picky about especially with Asian take-out) is good quality, vegetables always fresh and the overall taste is p.e.r.f.e.c.t. You wont be disappointed.
(5)k s.
I repeat, do not listen the people who rated this place a 3, 4, or 5. I did takeout and the receptionist said the food would be ready in 5-10 minutes. RED FLAG. Take out that takes that short of time means that it's already been made and just sitting in the kitchen, getting soggy. I'm chinese and southeast asian, and ethnic mom and pop restaurants should be owned by people of that nationality if you want QUALITY FOOD. This isn't a panda express franchise with a preset menu that anyone can purchase. If you don't understand what I'm saying , then you're probably someone who rated this place a 4 or 5. Their popular sesame chicken was EXTREMELY soggy, not crispy like they claim. The fried dumplings were undercooked. The crab rangoon was undercooked. The lettuce wrap meat was plain, dry and undercooked. The lemon chicken sauce was pretty much made of corn syrup and lemon extract. "real people" reviews on yelp are extremley unhelpful for people who have real experience with this kind of food. Asian Americans will HATE this place, it's the worst asian-american food I've ever tasted. If you're used to eating panda express or chinese buffets, you'll probably like this place but the PRICE is NOT worth it. Actually, Panda Express is BETTER than this place. Do NOT eat here, you will enjoy a place like panda express more.

I just called Wok Uptown for delivery and I was treated with the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. The girl was not only rude and short with me on the phone but when I asked to do two transactions she said "it's easier for us to do one so why don't you do one and figure it out later." when i asked to speak to the manager she informed me she was the manager and when i tried to issue a complaint about the service she said it was "their policy" to be that way. Really? Its your policy to be disrespectful and unabiding to customers? as a worker in the restaurant industry i am insulted that this girl was so rude for no reason. Do not support their business. They don't deserve it.
(1)Chris A.
Really, REALLY poor service. I've even tried delivery but they take forever. I just called to order (it's the day after St. Pats- it's decent hangover food) and they no longer deliver to my building because "they had too many issues with us at this location". They won't deliver to 160 units down the street? Does this make sense to anyone?
(1)Adrienne L.
Since my husband is out of town this weekend, I'm too sad/lazy to cook. There aren't many delivery options in Denver that aren't bad pizza, so I thought I'd try Wok Uptown, which I drive by at least once a day. When I called, they said the wait for delivery was a little over an hour, which surprised me due to what I've read on Yelp. But my food arrived in about 35 minutes, so yay for that! Yes it was a little pricey, but the food was decent. I appreciate the option to select all-white chicken (p.s. I ordered orange-flavored), but there were a few questionable pieces. The serving is GIANT and good enough for three nights. But they didn't give me enough rice for all three nights, and as a half-Filipina, I just can't eat chicken without rice, so it may go to waste! :( Probably the best option for my arteries, though. If you're tired of delivery pizza, check them out.
(3)Alexis M.
I've never been to the actual location, but frequently have it delivered. The food is decent and they give you a lot for the money. No matter what I order, they always throw in a free order of crab cheese wontons which instantly earns them an extra star. The guy that usually delivers it might be the happiest, most friendly person on the planet. I've never had a problem here and find it to be better than many of the other similar delivery restaurants in the area.
(3)john W.
We've driven by Wok Uptown a few dozen times. Finally decided to swing by for dinner. I gotta say, yum. Mongolian beef, and beef with broccoli, both 4 star! I didn't think we'd ever find good chinese, but Wok Uptown did it. Not sure if there's better, let me know. Until then, Wok Uptown is my favorite Chinese joint
(3)Stephanie S.
It was fast but not good. The Canton style noodles were so greasy and so was the chicken/veg mixture. Very oily, cheap food for the price.
(2)Ali W.
Being Chinese, I have high expectations of my own people's food as presented in another country. I usually stay away from Chinese take-out places because they are as authentic as Pizza Hut is Italian. However, one day, I was run down with the flu, was weak all over, so cooking dinner was not an option. I got take-out at this place, and was pleasantly surprised that the food was acceptable. I got the sesame beef, orange flavored chicken, and wonton soup. All were acceptable in taste, but the wonton soup only had 1 wonton in it, so it was really like just broth. I refrained from getting General Tsao's chicken, because what the heck is it? It's just like sesame chicken, but without the sesame, so...just chicken. Anyway, no one in China knows who General Tsao is. 1 star off: over-priced for a Chinese take-out 1 star off: having General Tsao's chicken under "Chef's Specialty"
(3)Kelly S.
Ordered food for delivery. Food took twice as long as their longest estimate. Food arrived cold. Called to complain and the "owner" on the phone said that I was welcome to not order there again. I won't.
(1)Meaux C.
WOW can't believe all the poor reviews on delivery!! I have never had an issue and I have been ordering from here for several years (Like 7 or 8) My food always comes fast and hot. The staff has always been friendly to me whether by phone or in person. I am over by Manuel High school. First off the food can be a little hit or miss - but all currys are consistently good, the Chinese chicken salad is good, the white meat sesame chicken (ask for extra spicy or its too sweet) is good, Singapore noodles are great, the beef chow hor fun is super yummy, the lettuce wraps are super tasty and I really like the pork fried rice. I don't care for their egg rolls and agree with other reviews that they are greasy - usually means they aren't being fried at a hot enough temp. And I think their pad tai is bland but I admit I haven't tried it for several years. The crab cheese won tons are so so. IMO in general they rely too heavily on broccoli to fill out their veggies. They DO keep your cc on file, and I would bet money there is a PCI compliance issue there. You can ask to have it removed. As other reviewers have pointed out, Denver has yet to have the great delivery options of other larger cities - for me Wok Uptown fills the void and is a terrific Friday night treat after a long week.
(4)Zach J.
Chinese food is one cuisine that I will not eat in a "divey" place I am really hesitant to eat it anywhere. I have had Wok Uptown a few times now and it has always been consistent. That might be because I always order the same thing, but hey, its good. The sesame chicken, egg roll, white rice, egg drop soup. I have NEVER got even one piece of mystery meat which is rare, it even happens at PF Changs. The portions are so large I can usually make 3 meals out of it too. My girlfriend always orders some kind of seafood mixture soup with noodles and says its very good (I am not that daring). We always have it delivered to our place in Cap Hill, usually they say around 45 minutes but have always been early. Even at lunch hour during the storm on Wednesday. The driver said he had already been in 4 minor accidents! So if you are looking for a good, always consistent Chinese food place, try it. Unless you like mystery meat.

Don't heed the haters (for delivery anyway). In Denver on business and this was the only delivery option to my hotel as a night of Power Point toil awaits. I am delighted with my order. I'm a vegetarian and the drunken noodles (which I requested with tofu and vegetables) were outstanding. Perfectly seasoned, tofu cooked perfectly, nice kick from the basil and the perfect soft degree of heat (which I added to with chili paste). The veggie egg rolls were fantastic and made even better with a dredge in the hot mustard. Great stuff.

What a joke! First off let me say this is based off of principal and lack of customer service not $$$. I have ordered from this establishment a few times to mix it up and thought it was ok but tonight changed my mind going forward. Tonight I was informed that on top of my $2.00 delivery fee (which I did not know I was charged before but would be ok with if I'm outside or the delivery radius.) I would be charged an additional $2.00 "weather fee". When asking what a "weather fee" was the guy taking my order said "it's because its cold out and the roads are bad" I commented that we live in Colorado and was wondering what the $2.00 on every order went towards. If it was a supplemental insurance rider for drivers or something similar I could understand it. The guy got a quick attitude and questioned me on if I had been out on the roads driving today which I said I had and he refused to answer me on what the additional $2.00 was for and passed me off to a manager who was worse than him! Finally after asking her what it goes towards and having her be extremely rude she said "its additional tips for the drivers to make up for them going out in bad weather and some people not tipping". Coming from a family of 4 with an average ticket price of $60.00 20% is my standard especially on delivery. I'm happy to say Jett Asian Kitchen will be getting my business tonight and I'll find another less RUDE establishment to mix it up going forward.

Probably would not eat here again. The food was alright and they delivery
(2)SYLVIA R.
I do take out and the service is so polite and super fast. The food is WONDERFUL, the all white meat sesame chicken is to die for. Great egg rolls, and they give you a little extra, like an almond cookie! I love the food, and they are where we go for chinese food every time. I have never used delivery, I just go there, the parking is EASY!
(4)Dan H.
We ordered dinner from these folks while enjoying a staycation in downtown Denver. Big mistake. The two stars is because the woman who took our order and the guy who delivered the food were both very friendly. The food was terrible. I ordered Sesame Tofu and it was the worst I have ever had. Not sure if it would have been better had I eaten it there. The tofu was WAY overcooked and the batter on the tofu was too think. It just didn't work for me. I wouldn't order from them again.
(2)Kendall B.
After reading the reviews, my beau and I decided to give this place a try. We had always just laughed at the cleaver name when I drove him to work in the mornings, and once we saw that it actually might be good we decided to give it a try. He got beef with broccoli and I got the moo shu pork. The beef was decent, and I really enjoyed the moo shu (and portions were generous as others have noted). As usual with any moo shu I could have used more wraps, and given my obsession with hoisin, I will definitely order extra sauce next time. We liked the included eggrolls. They were light and crispy, and not too oily like some reviews have said. I loved the almond cookies, which were a really nice change from the disgusting and generic fortune cookies (don't worry they still give you fortune cookies too). One star comes off because the food was absolutely amazing, and the second star off is because they charged us a $3 delivery fee (which is unfortunate because it just means the delivery boy gets a smaller tip). We ordered on a particularly cold and snowy/rainy night, so I can understand why they might justify charging extra, but not quite. They also don't give their hours on their website which is annoying. I will for sure order from there again. It made a nice change from Thai Basil which is our norm.
(3)Phil H.
They say you get what you pay for, and that is certainly a mantra I've found to be true-- especially when it comes to chinese food. Wok uptown may be a bit pricier than the other places, but the quality and quantity of the food is beyond reproach. I had the orange beef, and my friends had veggie egg rolls (they even threw in a couple extra) and egg drop soup. Large, tasty portions (and an extremely short walk from my place!) have ensured that I will be ordering exclusively from the wok uptown whenever possible in the future and recommending it to all my friends downtown.
(5)Rachel P.
Two words. Food poisoning. Also horrible customer service. We ordered food for delivery. The person that took our order was short and snarky. I should have rethought my restaurant choice then, but I pressed on. Food was delivered in a timely manner by the owner (who seemed less than enthused about having to work). Food was just OK. Fried rice was completely tasteless. But the worst part was to come about 2 hours after eating their food. I got completely sick. We called to let them know, ask if anyone else complained, and to see if they'd consider trying to save face by offering a partial refund. They were very rude and unapologetic. Needless to say Wok Uptown gets a HUGE THUMBS DOWN!
(1)Clint J.
I've been unimpressed with the dozen or so Chinese restaurants I've been to since moving to Denver, but I've got to say that Wok Uptown provided some of the best Chinese takeout I've ever had. I ordered the Drunken Noodles with shrimp and some steamed chicken dumplings, and my girlfriend ordered the Lemon Chicken. The shrimp were spicy, the noodles were not greasy, and the vegetables were fresh. Portions were quite generous. Later in the week, Mongolian Triple Delight and Thai Fried Rice were had . . . both were extraordinary. Even the free egg roll was good. Fried Calamari? Quite possibly the BEST fried calamari I've ever had. Order a double portion of fried Cthulhu and a double portion of steamed chicken dumplings if you're in the mood for finger foods and you will not be disappointed. The Hot & Sour soup was unremarkable, but the Egg Drop Soup was better than expected. General Tso and Sesame Chicken were above average. This is, quite possibly, the best Chinese take-out in Denver. Not perfect, but it is very good. This is primarily a take-out place, but the option to eat there at a table does exist.
(4)Andrea M.
Totally solid Chinese take-out place in Denver. Parking can be a bit tight when you're pulling in to pick up your order, but its no big whoop. This joint is definitely built to be a "to-go" kind of place, as it only has room for a few tables. The staff is always super-friendly, and our food is literally made in around 5 minutes from the time we call. I love, LOVE that their crab-won tons are made of faux crab (can't do the real thing), and we usually get the free, veggie egg rolls with our order. We usually snag the Szechuan Chicken or Garlic Chicken with brown rice. One order is PLENTY for two people to split, with a little left over for a 2nd helping! It took us a while to finally find a solid Chinese take-out place, but we're so glad to have found Wok Uptown.
(4)Suzy S.
Well, I guess you cannot do two updates on one place, so I took my original three star review and posted below my five star review so I could do an update to the update. So after getting an email from the owner asking me to give them another chance, my next two experiences were quite good - delivery was fast, food was spicy and veggies were crisp. Tonight, my regular order of General Tsao's Chicken is not only void of any spice, it's mushy. Normally even if the dish is bland I will eat it, but this is going into the trash due to the texture. I called and talked to the owner who was very nice and understanding. She offered me a free entree, but I told her I want my Visa credited as I will not be giving them another chance. It has been too much of a roller coaster ride I am afraid.
(2)Josh V.
Came here for lunch one day. Nice small little restaurant obviously there primary business is take out/delivery. The wait staff was very friendly and very attentive. We had requested everything spicy so she brought extra mustard and chili sauce without being asked to, which I enjoyed. I got the Mongolian pork which was great except I wish the pork pieces were a bit bigger. My friend got some good looking curry and it tasted quite good. The prices were decent as well. Def some of the better Asian restaurants in the area. I will be heading back.
(4)Lynn L.
Okay, so I love the Pooz. The Pooz loves Wok Uptown. If A = B and B = C then A = C, right? Wrong. Well, at least in the case of Cooky and Pooz. I got delivery from Wok Uptown, as I was in the mood to try something new. So, I read up on Yelp and ordered a lot of the things that Jessica H. recommended (since I love her too!): Hot and sour soup Crab Wontons Chicken Lettuce Wrap Kung Pao Tofu First, the soup - like a previous reviewer said, it was really gelatinous. Like it had a ton of constarch in it as a thickener. If you could get past the texture, it wasn't too bad - chock full of mushrooms and tofu. However, I found it neither hot nor sour. So, meh. Crab wontons - usually one of my favorites. There was a lot of filling, to be sure, but it was almost all cream cheese. Hardly any imitation crab at ALL - a stray scallion here or there, yes, but not much crab. :( Chicken Lettuce Wrap - this was the best of the bunch. I like that they have this healthier alternative on their menu, and it was pretty tasty. The portion was hugemongus - I had plenty left over for the next night's lunch AND dinner. Kung Pao Tofu - okay, this was really weird. You know how sometimes you taste something and it smells weird? But it doesn't smell that way on its own - you have to taste it to get the weird smell? This happened to me with this dish. You know what it smelled like? Urine. I have no idea what could have caused it, but I do know that I didn't finish it. The eggrolls that came for free were SUPER greasy, so be sure to blot before you eat. So, I'm willing to give them one other shot and I'll order some of my standards - lemon chicken, sesame tofu, and apparently, this mongolian beef that everyone is talking about. But if I'm going on my first impression, I won't order from them again.
(2)michael f.
This place is a joke. $4.50 for a large wonton soup is about a buck higher than Great Wall and has nothing but broth and wontons (4) in it is a joke. Pork, scallions, etc. Is the norm for every chinese restaurant wonton soup. 2 stars is for the not bad wontons but certainly nothing special. Avoid this ripoff, a lot better options nearby.
(2)F P.
Worst service!! Called them to make an order and they told me it would take 45 min to deliver. I called an hour later asking where my order was and they said they were running behind and it would be another 15 min. After waiting an hour and 20 minutes they called me and said I had given them the wrong number and I needed to go out the the delivery car to get my food. 1) I gave them the wrong number?? Why the hell would I do that?? They weren't smart enough to look at the caller ID like they did the last time they called me? 2) They want me to go outside to the drivers car when I'm paying for the delivery?? 3) They would not let me talk to the manager or owner - what kind of business is this? 4) Instead of giving me a discount they said they would just cancel the order. I gave them 1 start because I had to... I recommend Spicy Basil which is close, fast delivery, amazing taste and huge portions. Crazy Asian Cafe and China Star are also close options.
(1)Angelica H.
This place has AMAZING food! When I move away from Denver next month, I will miss this place more then anything else Denver offers! The Fire Red Panang and Tropical Thai Fried rice, and sesame chicken are 10x's better then then anywhere else I have ever eaten. The staff is friendly and the service is FAST! Gotta stop writing and go get me a lunch special of the Szechwan beef with brown rice!!!
(5)Shannon W.
I'm surprising myself by giving a typical chinese take-out/delivery place 4 stars, but... this was good! Very good. So much better than what I was even craving. You know how sometimes you just crave greasy noodles and the flavors of sauces that probably came out of a can and pathetic little shrimp and gloopiness? Well, that's what I was craving two days after I moved to the Mile High City, and my tired, sweaty, grumpy self would have been satisfied for mediocre. But instead I got a bunch of crispy-fresh veg, large-plump shrimp, and grease-less fried rice and noodles. I was impressed. And stuffed. I also hate myself a little for saying this, but... the phone order-takers are awesome! No problems making substitutions, always friendly, always accurate with the delivery times. I guess what it boils down, why I hate to sound like some xenophobic arse, is that me hablo ingles y un poco de espanol, pero no asian languages of any kind, and these ladies have no problemo with that-o. Only negative, and am I smoking crack? But since when does sesame *anything* come in balls of deep-fried dough? Perhaps it's just the treatment for sesame tofu, since I can't speak for the more typical chicken variety, but it was literally cubes of tofu in these balls of dough. Odd. Oh, and not spicy as the menu advertised, either.
(4)Chloe K.
yum...yumm..yummmmm I summoned yelp tonight to help me find my dinner for the evening....Wok Uptown came up. Now this is what i love most about this site. I love the recommendations from my fellow local yelpers! Wok Uptown is overpriced, you were right about that and the food was great! I didn't just eat a lil either, I ate almost everything..blah, now bloated and fuller than full I feel good about my purchase and once again trusting the yelpers in my community. FYI, the Sacha Chicken rocked my world, with the spice and tons of veggies. Awesome! I will definitely order from them again. The driver was so sweet too, he shook my hand and introduced himself to me. So cool. try them out and see for yourself.
(4)Katie T.
I have heard nothing but good things about Wok Uptown. So for lunch, I thought why not, let's switch it up. About an hour after eating sesame chicken, my stomach was not happy. It was a disappointment because it had great taste, but honestly the after effects are not worth it.
(2)Courtney B.
Love Wok Uptown!!! I've been ordering here for a couple years and I've never had a negative experience. They are always friendly when taking an order and each time I'm amazed how quickly they deliver!! Their food is always delicious and very affordable. Love the free egg rolls....
(5)Abbie Rae H.
Pretty okay takeout. They've screwed up the order a couple of times, but have always been great about correcting it. The staff is super friendly, the vegetables are crispy, and they know how to do tofu. My favorite is the lemongrass tofu.
(4)Victoria S.
If you are a sucker for chicken lo mein as I am,... this has the best! Not sure on their other dishes, but love the lo mein
(4)A J.
This has been within walking distance of my place now for years, and somehow I had never eaten there 'til last week. So I ordered for delivery at 11AM, thinking I had better order early to avoid any lunch rush. They said it'd be the standard 45 minutes. It took between 1.5 and 2 hours. My beef noodles were fine, a little greasy, but good still. But man, I have never had worse hot & sour in my life. Well, until today when I tried a canned variety, but that's another story. I love hot & sour soup, and order it everywhere that has it, and this was bad. Sweet, and thick. I like the brothier, hotter version. This was horrible. And then I'm also pretty critical of egg rolls, and these were bad too. Not necessarily cooked bad, just that thin crispy style that I can't stand. The kind that leaves egg roll wrapper all everything when it crumbles apart. There aren't many Chinese options downtown, but I don't think a lot of people know about Crazy Asian Cafe in Wash Park, and that they do deliver to Capital Hill/Downtown. I would highly recommend calling them before calling this place.
(2)Edward T.
Must admit, I didn't have big expectations for this place. I was just feeling extremely lazy and hungry and didn't want to leave home. Authentic Chinese, this place is not.... Menu is sort of reminiscent of PF Changs. Try finding general's whatever in Beijing.... No matter still good and just what I needed. A little bit pricey compared to other Chinese take out. Potions were good. Will definitely order from this place again.
(4)Sherry W.
Oh people of Denver - I wanted to trust your chinese. First of all - the best thing I can say is, yes, it's fresh. I am staying at a hotel and was totally craving Egg Foo Young. So I trusted my fellow yelpers and went with one of the only chinese deliveries in this area that sounded good. Maybe they had a bad night?? They forgot my soup, AND brought the entirely wrong dish. I know they were aiming for my order because my brown rice was there, and my request of hot mustard. The receipt read correctly, but my order was not. Plus, they delivered to my hotel without napkins or plastic ware. Boo Wok Uptown. You fail.
(2)Samantha C.
Hungover and craving some chinese food, I got on yelp and looked for some good chinese near me. I stumbled upon Wok Uptown. Based on the reviews I decided against delivery, noting that others said their delivery took a very long time, and this hangover couldnt wait. 10 minutes later I picked up my food. I ordered the vegetable low mein and it was apsolutely delicous. Seriously packed with fresh veggies, a ton! And a sweet savory flavor. It was very hot and just all around good, I will definetely be coming back. I took off one star due to the girl at the counter. She seemed super bored and pissed, and a little on the rude side. After I paid she stood there for a while and talked to the guy next to her about what she wanted to eat, and I could see my order right behind her. She took her time to finish her conversation and turned around and grabbed it. I wouldnt be super happy working the front desk at a chinese restaraunt either but cmon.

I ordered again and accidentally gave the delivery guy a 100 dollar bill instead of 20 and he told me...I would have never known and he could have walked away with it. Very cool!

Let me preface this review by saying I only have had their wonton soup and egg rolls, which isn't a whole lot to base my review off of, but then again, if an Asian place can't get those staples right, I am a little uneasy about trying anything more complicated. I was having a craving for wonton soup tonight, so decided to stop into Wok uptown, which is pretty close to my house. The people who took my order were nice, but when I got back to my house, the food was not so nice. The wonton soup only had two wontons in it, and they were VERY doughy. The wonton wrap was somehow so thick and chewy that I could hardly taste any of the filling. Maybe it's just me, but when I want wonton soup, I don't want broth and dough. No thanks. I also decided to throw some egg rolls in my order at the last minute, but when I got home, there was no sauce to go with them. I am definitely a sauce person. Maybe I should have checked, but then again, I have never been to an Asian restaurant and gotten take-out or delivery without them automatically putting sweet and sour or some other sauce in there. Overall, the snack that I was craving all night was incredibly disappointing. I doubt I will be giving this place another chance.

I really wanted to love Wok Uptown, but I couldn't. I dined in and had exceptional service. We had the fried chicken dumplings, sweet & sour chicken, and BBQ ribs. It was good, not excellent. Basically, just tasted like all every other place. I will give them another chance and go with the sesame chicken next time.

Wok Uptown has amazingly great Chinese food despite being in a building that is a renovated gas station! The crab cheese wontons are easily the best in town. The Sesame Tofu is the stuff of Legend. I've yet to hear of a bad entree from all the out-of-towners I've paraded through that place. When I worked downtown, I would frequently order delivery and they began to recognize my voice and treat me like family! Embarrassing, but heartwarming as well. It's quite cozy inside and if you come in on a cold day, they might even offer you a cup of hot tea while you wait.

I guess people have their own taste for different chinese spots, but I have to say this is one of the best in Denver. I stumbled upon it my first week in Denver and have not strayed. The food always tastes really fresh (enough to mask the fried-ness, even though it is obviously still there) for dine-in and delivery. It's a little pricier as far as Chinese goes, but I'd say it's worth it for the taste, service, and overly generous portions. The staff is always friendly and recognizes me when I order on the phone or come in. Great little gem.

Great food, and generally good delivery and phone service. I would have given it a 4 star, if it were not for an order that I placed once, where they left an entree out. Which was a mistake anybody could make, but they handled it unprofessionally. I called to let them know that we were missing an item, and the woman taking the order accused me of trying to get an item for free. I would have been happy to pay for it, I just wanted my entree. It was towards their closing and they did nothing to bring the missing entree.

I LOVE Chinese food. It is my favorite go-to take out. When I moved to Denver last year I began searching for my favorite Chinese place. Wok Uptown was the 4th and last place I tried. I just can't bring myself to order anywhere else now that I have had their Cantonese Pan Fried Noodles. I also love how you can order white meat versions of any of their chicken dishes. Seriously yummy Chinese food.

There was what appeared to be a wad of spit on top of my food that was delivered after about 90 minutes. I called to speak to the manager, and they were nothing but rude to me accusing me of making it up. Stay away!

I find it odd that my review has been taken down on this place

I'm somewhat on the fence about this place. On the plus side, their food is rather tasty, original and its a cute little place. On the bad side, they are rather pricey for Asian food, long wait, oh and they gave my ex-boyfriend radioactive runs for like 3 days. At his urging, don't order anything with neon orange shrimp, it will cause quote, "nuclear meltdown."

Some of the best Chinese food to date. The delivery comes pretty quick and when dining in even faster. They're always friendly and sometime you get free stuff. Only draw back is the very small dining area so your best best is call or stop by and get your meal to go.

Exquisite Chinese Food! I've only had it to-go but the food is hot and the vegies are fresh. They'll even deliver to your workplace. It's a buck or 2 more than your usual Chinese Food Joint but well worth it. I'd pay 5 bucks more if I had to!
