Now there is fried chicken from KFC, and then there is fried chicken from Wishbone. Wishbone's chicken is perfectly cooked and perfectly crispy! Really, really delicious. The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere, although it is in dire need of an update, reminds me of the diners in the midwest so for me its a little piece of home. We also enjoy the mashed potatoes and the texas toast. Put some honey on your toast, yum! Sadly, I have yet to try anything else here. We don't eat out much so if we go to Wishbone I always order the same thing. 4/5 stars only because of the atmosphere. Food and service are wonderful!

We had a pleasant experience here last night. Our server was very nice and made sure we were well taken care of. My husband had the full chicken plate and I had the chicken fried chicken. She did drop one of my chicken patties and had to bring me another one, but she was very apologetic and offered to discount our meal. We had a nice dinner and will definitely be back. Pleases check out our travel blog at ourtravelingblog.com to read about other restaurants we have enjoyed.

I wasn't satisfied at all with this so called "restaurant"! I ordered a hamburger, my coworker ordered the chicken fried steak. My hamburger was horrible. I don't see how you can call yourself a restaurant and serve frozen hamburger pattys. My coworkers chicken fried steak was good. Although the gravy was an odd bright yellow. When i confronted the owner about my dissatisfaction, he wanted to argue with me. Telling me every restaurant serves frozen patty's. I beg to differ! Wouldn't suggest eating here.

We've been dining at Wishbone for45 years (including their previous locations on 84th & Huron as well as Federal & 17th). It is surprising how consistent their quality of service and food remains first class year after year. The prices are a bargain and the serving size always exceeds the amount a person Should consume.

If you want good comfort food... This is the place. Amazing fried chicken. Great sides. Leaves you full and with food coma afterwards. Great local owned restaurant.

This is our go to place whether dining in or picking up. They are consistent and their portions are nice and large. The staff is friendly and helpful. We always recommend it to friends and take our out of towners there. We usually can be in and out in less than 45 minutes.

Excellent family restaurant with friendly wait staff. Had the combo appetizer with my party. We ordered onion rings, fried mushrooms, chicken gizzards, and hot wings. All of the items were delicious that even my 9 year old daughter gobbled up the gizzards. We all had ordered chicken dinner combos. All times were equally as delicious as the apps, it was moist and crispy. The mashed potatoes with their chicken gravy was mmm mmm good. The chicken was even better the day after!

I can't deny the comments posted by the other users in terms of the clientele whom frequent this place, but honestly I have to say that it's never stopped me from eating in a place before. I'm not only speaking of body type, but just people in general. Anywho that aside, the food is pretty decent. The fried chicken is amazing. I kind of prefer the chicken fried chicken, mostly because I'm lazy and I don't really want to deal with the bones. Those two are really the only things I'm able to vouch for. Some of the other menu items are edible, but not always consistent. I used to like their beer battered fish, but the last time I had it, it was too breaded and the fish was pretty fishy. Their vegetables seem to always be reheated canned stuff and their gravy can gather skin while sitting (that frightens me). And who can forget their Texas toast, thick toasty goodness which can be smothered in honey. The food is usually prepared very quickly and the servers are friendly and usually pretty good. The owner is almost always there when we go and he usually recognizes our family, maybe because we go there so often. And when you leave they give you a free tootsie pop sucker, not bad. Might want to stay away from this place over the weekend, it usually gets pretty busy.

if this place was closer, i'm sure my family and i would have made this our number one spot for fried chicken - not popeye's (i am NOT saying i prefer this over popeyes - i refuse to choose because popeye's is cajun style, totally different). this has been a favorite since i was a little girl. we've gone for family dinners but also have gotten take out countless times. the fried chicken is, well, fried chicken. delicious always. the fries are just how i like them, heavy, crispy, and greasy. the texas toast - gasm in your mouth i tell ya. never really had the mashed potatoes, i'm a fry girl. the gravy is the highlight, i pour it on my fries and chicken haha. and yes, the texture can get a little jell-o like (only when i get it for takeout i've noticed though) but it's nothing a little stirring can't solve. i also had the sante fe salad once - grilled chicken, black beans, southwest ranch - tasty. sigh. i miss this place.

if you're looking for a some good ol fashion home cooking , wishbone is the place to go. i was surprised by their extensive selection of meals to choose from. they specialize in fried chicken, which is always tasty . i had their chicken tenders with mashed potatoes , which was hearty and flavorful ! some Denver locals told me it has been around a long time , and is a family-owned place. i'm glad we made the visit. we were happy when we left!

Good fast food. I can't say it is the most delicious place around to eat. But the service is better than most places and the fried chicken is some of the best in town. I had the chicken fried chicken which was crispy but not too dry. It came with good French fries and (presumably boiled) vegetables. The toddler had chicken nuggets and fries which came out fresh and hot. All in all it is a good basic restaurant that isn't presumptuous. If all you want is a fast meal, good service, and basic comfort foods, then stop by if you are in the area.

Consistent food and staff. Food is good except the veggies. Seem like frozen veggies.

First time to the Wishbone and have to say it lived up to the hype. 1st time ever had the glass filled with ice the brim then added the iced tea, that alone is worth going back. Second the chicken was also great not greasy and putting honey on fried chicken, never tried that but it was delicous. No left overs tonite. Left felling very satified. I totally recommend it if your near 97th and federal and love fried chicken.

If you like fried chicken, this is THE place to go. It's served in a variety of orders with a few dill pickle slices, Texas toast, honey, choice of potato, and chicken gravy that is one of the highlights of the meal. My son loves to dip French fries in that gravy. If you want to give a nod to veggies, salads are extra; but most people fill up on their chicken plates. The chicken is often so fresh out of the fryer that you can't even touch it for a while. So good! Their chicken soup is homemade and pretty tasty, thick, and chunky. They don't stay open late. When they say family restaurant, they mean family. No booze, either. But the chicken is worth it. Warning: The turkey dinner is processed turkey roll. Not something you want to be eating when you see other diners chowing down on the fried or roasted chicken. I always have the feeling that all the rest of the menu is just for people avoiding fried food. Poor things. Go to splurge on cholesterol; it's okay once in a while, unless you're in desperate shape.

This restaurant is one of the only survivors of the good ol' days of Denver fried chicken. The old restaurant on 84th and Huron was our mecca of fried chicken. The restaurant on Federal serves the same great freshly fried chicken to the same very-large middle class crowd that it has for decades. It also has daily specials ranging from cod and whitefish to meatloaf and grilled liver w/onions. Cholestrol and carbs reign supreme here but for the afraid, try the roasted chicken which is also cooked perfectly hot and moist. tip:separate the meat from the bone when it arrives at the table if you order white meat (breast). Otherwise you might have to wait too long to eat it

If you're in the area, check out Wishbone. The fried chicken -- in all its various forms -- is damn good. The sides leave much to be desired, and for me, the best part of a friend chicken dinner is the sides. The veggies were canned, the gravy was a little too much like Jello, salad wasn't too fresh. But the chicken makes up for it. I've been in a number of times, and the clientele is, well, older. Staff is friendly and service is good. No alcohol on the menu, though. And the prayer place mats were a bit over the top.

GREAT FRIED CHICKEN!!! This place is in the "ghetto" on North Federal. And honestly I would have driven past it if my buddy didn't tell me to eat there. The place is real simple and kind of reminds me of a truck stop restaurant. But the food reminds me of Grandmas cooking. The Fried Chicken is delicious and their mash potatos are pretty good too. I would have rated them higher, but it not the best that I have had. But it's good enough to go back.

First time at this place, and I can honestly say it's my kinda place...the service was excellent! ! Food was pippin hot. ..n cooked as requested....pretty clean, and nice vibes. Got fried chic. And it was very tasty...although the mashed potatoes could have been made in house. ..instant worked just fine! ! Very very good....I have found, my new spot. Highly recommend if your seeking comfort food!

Food: Ordered the #1 Fried chicken dinner. Leg and thigh were good but not amazing. The breast was dry. Breading was tasty with the right amount of salt. Mashed potatoes were not fresh mashed, most likely production dried style. Gravy was yellow and thick and not good. Atmosphere: As others have mentioned, at lunch this place is packed with retired 60+ year olds. Very outdated decorations and building. Price: $11.13 before tip

Wish I could give ZERO stars. If you order takeout be very specific and request every menu item specifically. You will not receive the same quality of food you get if you dine in. Same price but VERY different food. Our salads consisted of a bowl of lettuce. The menu called it salad NOT a bowl of lettuce with a side container of dressing. The chicken fried steak was absolutely disgusting. The meat may have possibly been edible if it wasn't swimming in a pool of artificial chicken gravy that is so extremely salty it's unpalatable. When I called back to ask about the salad and suggested a manager taste the gravy I was informed that for takeout you only get lettuce.

Love it for exactly what it is: simple, delicious food that is simply terrible for you! I rarely fry at home, so this place is always a treat. I give it five stars for a casual dinning place. You can easily get the chicken pieces you want. My fav is 3 legs. The breading is crisp and not pretentious.Texas toast is perfect and all the chicken dishes come with classic chicken gravy(that's why it's yellow) even if you don't get mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes are boring, but their fries are amazing, thick, well-flavored and crispy so that's why still 5 stars. The staff is super friendly and obviously well trained. You can tell it's family owned and run. It's place I would bring my Midwest grandparents if they visited, yet I also feel comfortable organizing a dinner with my foodie friends. If they'd complained I'd say, "It's kitschy, Darling!"

I have eaten here several times and it never disappoints. Family owned places like this that focus on service and quality seem to be disappearing in favor of chain food garbage. I love how the chicken is so crispy on the outside and juicy in the middle. I like the atmosphere and the service also.

This place is pretty good. We don't come here often but always get good quality food when we do. I usually get the chicken fried steak which is very tasty. I recommend trying.

Take out here is wonderful. Fast and hot, pricing is great and much better value than other chicken restaurants. Sides are awesome and you dont get dried hard tiny chicken. Is my favorite place for chicken, they also cater.

  • Ascary M.

Not bad good chicken, you get a lot of gravy that is why I call it fat people chicken. I'm not making fun just spreading the love. Also tried the club sandwich very good. The burger not soo good, I'll stick with the chicken.

  • Khampha K.

I like their fried chicken. Not so greasy and very crunchy. Mashed potatoes are good but the gravy is yellowish in color and questionable. Fried shrimp are huge!! You also get Texas toast with your meals. I like to drench mine in honey. Tastes like a good old fashioned home cooked meal. My parents even enjoyed it. When my parents found out they sold fried chicken gizzards and livers that made their day. Great comfort food and a big family meal that everyone will enjoy.

I have always wanted to try this place but my husband never seemed interested and finally his mom suggested we go there for lunch. We both got #6's which is the all white 4 piece with your choice of potato and Texas toast with honey. It's only $12.95 and you can seriously eat twice off of it. You get two large chicken breasts and wings that are the most crispy wonderful pieces of heaven ever. It's seriously the best chicken I've ever had in Colorado and we can't wait to eat there again. It was so juicy and the wait staff is very friendly. The décor could use some updating because I don't think it's changed since the place opened but the food is fantastic.

Love this place. Some of the best fried chicken in Colorado and coming from back east, I'm picky. Never had a bad meal here and will keep coming back.

Everytime I am near Federal and US36, I gotta make a trek to this place. Its kinda like coming back home after the long journey. Warm greetings by the owner and the servers alike. Big plus in the days of chain restaurants. My favorites are of course the fried chicken wings combo #24. Its the 3 pc that comes with Texas toast, gravy and mashed potatoes. Its not the Franks hot sauce type of wings but the original fried kind. Yes, lots of people complain about the smell of grease, the clientel and how the food arrives but.. after all, its family run restauarnt so not too many ties sitting at the board room trying to improve the place.. and cant complain about the customers who has been coming to their favorite restaurant for more than 30? years.. afterall, I will get old too and hopefully no one complains of me enjoying wings. At least the smell of grease eats the expired perfume old folks are wearing.. If you are fan of wings.. this place is a must stop over location.

This place is really great, it's really close to my house and they are always busy. It seems like we always have to park in the street, this place has been around for a long time and a friend told me about this place. So one day I tried it, they have all fresh products and there chicken is some of the best chicken I have ever had, they also have the best homemade fried pickles and I didn't think I would like them there great with ranch. Whenever we have visitors from out of town and there looking for a good place to go with alot of choices we like to take them to Wishbone as service is good and food is yummy.

  • Sara B.

What can I say that has not already been said about the Wishbone? True, their sides leave a lot to be desired, but that is not the reason that I come here. Two words: Chicken gizzards. YUM! Their gizzards are fried to perfection without being chewy beyond edibility and once you dip them in the gravy, they become heavenly. Gizzards aren't your thing? That's ok! Their chicken really is delicious. Fried to a golden brown crisp without being greasy and they even manage to keep the chicken nice an moist. This is a great place to order take out if you need last minute ideas for dinner or even entertaining. Don't expect everything to be amazing here because, sadly, it's not. Go for what they specialize in and leave happy and full.

Chicken, gravy, texas toast and a potatoe..... need I say anything else??? We have never been, but we will go again, you betcha! Prices - good. A meal of 3 pieces of chicken, a baked potato (or fries or instant mashed), texas toast, and yummy gravy = $9. You really can't beat that! Yummy! Delicious! Hits the spot! Food - good, actually quite good! They also have salads, steaks, and some appetizers, and of course, desserts! Interior - bright, open, nice blues and browns, large interior, can easily accommodate large groups. There were 7 in our group today. Parking - private lot with plenty of parking spaces. Service - good. See you there!

I've been hearing about this place for years, how it has the best fried chicken, etc. So I was glad to finally get here and learn there's a lot more to choose from than just chicken. The owner was there by the entrance the whole time greeting his guests and shaking their hands, that made us feel very welcome. The place is huge and looks very nice after the renovation. The only confusing thing is its two entrances, one for sit down dining and one for take outs (where the Elvis statue is) and we didn't know if they are through so we swung back out to get to the main entrance. The fried chicken, like other Yelpers have mentioned, had crispy skin and tender, juicy meat. I like how the skin wasn't deep golden but a light yellow color which made me feel they used "clean oil" to fry. And it was neither too salty nor too greasy. But because Wishbone is so far away from where I live, I'd settle for King Soopers fried chicken than having to drive so far to get some here. Anyone wants chicken that are not fried MUST try their chicken salad sandwich, it was both pretty to look at and yummy! Very creamy without being sweet (you know how some chicken salads can have a sweet hint), a perfect companion to the rye breads. Another amazing treat was their Hawaiian Salad. Oh My God, if I'm driving all the way to come back here it'll be to have this salad again, fried chicken second. I'm not kidding, the Coleslaw dressing they use is so delicious I've never had anything like that before! We also had BBQ baby back ribs off the specials menu. It was sliding-off-the-bone tenderness, but a lot of diners can achieve that so there's nothing too special about this dish. The fries were good, Texas toasts were wonderful, mashed potato and gravy were tasty even though it was box mix mashed potatoes. BBQ beans looked like they were from a can, fruit salads were definitely canned, cornbread stuffing didn't look too promising to be homemade. Therefore, 4 stars!

With their good old home cooked 'comfort food', this is the place to go. Those in our party had fried chicken, salads and liver with onions. Everyone left satisfied and full. A comfortable family setting, this restaurant is perfect for larger groups. We will return.

Wishbone is my go to place when craving fried chicken. The pick up area is big and allows a sneak peak at how big their kitchen is. Tons of meal options for mixing dark and white meat orders. Most meal are big enough to split.

Fried chicken and sidesare better at a grocery store. This is old people food. No spice at all and the flavor of mild clay.

    (1)
  • Bill R.

Before Wishbone there was the Denver Drumstick for those who lived here back then. That was the best chicken here in the 60's and Wishbone carried that same chicken forward, thank heaven. We used to dip the crispy crust into the chicken gravy - mmmm good thanks Wishbone !!!

  • Laurie S.

I really enjoy eating here, its old fashioned family diner combined with a great chicken place. The chicken is moist and delicious, the chicken gravy is pretty tasty and the pumpkin pie was yummy. The place is usually pretty busy and a good sign that this is the place to eat some great fried chicken.

I always enjoy going to wishbone, either to dine in or take-out. The staff is so friendly and the food speaks for itself.

  • Michael T.

This place is my gastronomical refuge and blast to the past! The good old-fashioned three piece crispy chicken dinner with Texas toast, a potato and their signature gravy is reminiscent of the Denver Drumstick back in the 50's and 60's! I absolutely love this place and feel that when it comes to fried chicken, nobody outdoes the Wishbone Restaurant as it's simply the very best in town...a real Denver delight for out-of-town visitors and locals alike! Check them out if you never been there!

The last time I remember coming was like 20 years ago when I'm sure my grandparents brought me. I actually tonight they were out of business. Came In today after a yelp search found them in search of fried chicken. $40 plus tip for 2 entrees and an app. Not sure it was worth that much but the food was decent and I left full. Chicken wasn't that flavorful but it was good enough. Will be back !

I've been on the hunt for good fried chicken with mashed potatoes & gravy like my mom used to make. This place has AWESOME fried chicken. But! We were frankly pretty appalled with the rest of the food: side salad with literally only iceberg lettuce & 2 slices of cucumber for $2.25 then dressing that came in foil packets. Gravy that tastes like it's from a can... The server (who was great), dissuaded me from the mashed potatoes when I asked if they were real, steered me towards the baked potato "w/ everything". "Everything" equals sour cream in foil packets & "whipped butter spread" in plastic containers. Really?! That said, if it weren't so far from my home, I'd go just for the chicken. Since it isn't, I'll happily just get fried chicken from Albertson's deli!

  • Wellington C.

So my fellow coworkers said that this was the best chicken place in Denver so I had to give it a try since the local churches chicken near my hotel closed down. Since they hyped it up I was thinking that this must be the most bomb ass chicken in Denver, unfortunately i didnt think that it lived up to the hype. Now dont get me wrong, the food was good and the chicken was good too but i thought that it lacked in seasoning. Now granted I know your suppose to use the chicken gravy too but for me the chicken just needed more kick. Now for 9 bucks the meal is rather filling and the portion sizes are good. If you get the #4 chicken dinner it comes with 3 chicken legs, gravy, side of potatoes. Also another cool think is the price of the root beer float, only 25 cents more than a regular soda and they give you a big generous scoop of ice cream. As an appetizer we had the jalapeno poppers which came out nice and hot and were very tasty. The place is pretty empty during lunch time but i was told that this place is pretty busy around 4:30 pm since a majority of the patrons here are retired.

The fried chicken is above mediocre, loved the texas toast, wasn't overly greasy and crispy on edges soft towards the middle. I like how they give you an extra side of gravy. What makes me give Wishbone four stars is their chicken salad sandwich! Most memorable chicken salad sandwich I've had. :)

  • Kyle P.

This place is amazing. The fried chicken is the best I've ever had, and the French fries are indescribable. The service is super fast and extremely friendly. 10/10, would bang.

    (5)
  • Adam H.

Yeah the fried chicken is good, moist and greasy. The place feels like an old cafeteria. The clientele can be old, large, in desperate need of a quadruple bypass, etc.. but, The best part is knowing you are helping out a Denver family owned spot stay in business. Every item on the menu may not be the best you've ever had but overall it's pretty good.

Down home stick to your ribs comfort food. I grew up with wishbone and havent been there in 25 years but the food tastes exactly how I remember it. Definitly worth it.

The fried chicken is lovely and my goto fried chicken joint near Broomfield. The fries are pretty decent as well but most of the other sides are fairly mediocre. The mashers are done from a box which just isnt right and the other sides I have tried tend to be generic diner food. But "DAMN" the chicken is to die for. Really it is good. Crispy consistent crust with very juicy meat but not greasy. I always wonder how their chicken can be so yummy but their sides so average? I would rate them a 2 star diner without their chicken and a 4 star diner if their sides matched the quality of their chicken. Love that Fried Chicken! hint: If you order the King Size you get 4 lovely pieces of chicken with choice of potato ( get the fries) for only around 10 bucks.. great deal! happy eating Steve

  • Jason M.

The fried chicken is THE BOMB! And you should know that I mean that, because I have never said anything was the bomb ever before. The chicken is crispy, juicy and tender. They have honey for the Texas Toast which, apparently, is how it's supposed to be eaten? I really don't know, but I'll honey they hell out of it, sure I will. Eating in reminds me of Sunday afternoons with the grandparents, and it's really easy to imagine running into the other patrons at Bingo Night down at the Elks Lodge. This place has that kind of old school vibe.

Like most of the reviews say... Great food and service. I really like the owner (sorta of a Maitre d') who helps with the sitting and always has a warm friendly smile to all his customers, kinda of makes you feel at home, even if you never been there before. Family owned handed down from father to son. Nice atmosphere setting with take-out available...

  • Deb L.

Sorry, but the food is awful. Baked chicken was greasy, the fruit cocktail comes from a can, the gravy can't possibly be from scratch and I'm pretty sure the salad comes from a bag. The reason it's been open all these years is it is affordable to seniors and the wait staff is attentive. Not a healthy option for anyone that likes to eat out.

    (1)
  • Chizzie L.

My first time here. The waitress was awesome. I had the chicken fried steak, with mashed potatoes and peas. It good. Except for the gravy. It warm and no seasoning what so ever. I'll be back. But the gravy needs seasoning or I won't be for a third time. The atmosphere was dynamite.

I hadn't heard of this restaurant when I saw the coupon in a newspaper and decided to give it a try with one of my friends. We had a great time, service was wonderful, friendly and fast. We had the meatloaf that was the special of the day. It was very good. My friend and I couldn't help the "Mmmmm" that slipped from our mouths as we tasted the food. I also ordered the gizzards. I hadn't had them in many years, these were tender and light. I loved the sauce that came with it. We left with happy bellies. I'm definitely going back there. By the way, I didn't notice any "greasy" smell and I'm usually very sensitive to that kind of thing.

A friend of mine RAVED about this place, so I made a trip up to check it out. It's a huge place with big plates of chicken traveling back and forth and lots of people who look like they've been coming here for years. It was OK, but I like Church's and Popeye's better. I simply don't understand the hoopla, there was nothing special about this chicken, the mashed potatoes tasted instant, the gravy tasted instant, the vegetables looked previously frozen, and the salad was iceburg. I miss Kapre Fried Chicken in Five Points, where the bird was hand-floured and fried in a skillet. THAT was something delicious, unique and reminiscent of Southern home cooking at its most authentic. (By the way: If you aren't Caucasian -- as my two guests aren't -- prepare to have a lot of people stare. It is exhilarating, by the way, to tell a couple using walkers and oxygen, "It's rude to stare, didn't your mother teach you manners?")

We tried this place based on the comments about "Amazing, to die for" fried chicken. True, the fried chicken is moist without being greasy and the portions are huge BUT IT HAS NO FLAVOR. No salt, no pepper, no seasoning at all that we could detect. No wonder people put honey on the chicken here. I ordered an appetizer of fried Chicken Livers just to try them. Same story. A giant portion of totally tasteless livers. I dumped salt & pepper on them and dipped them in the supplied chicken gravy which made them edible. The mashed potatoes were instant (or at least tasted like it) and again no salt or any other seasoning in them other than the just OK gravy on top. My friend had grilled salmon and he also described it as completely bland and kind of dry. He said even the vegetables were bland. We both had a side salad which was basically a big pile of iceberg lettuce with two slices of cucumber. Very boring, however the lettuce was plenty fresh and the dressing had a good flavor. The texas toast was average but probably had more flavor than anything. The service was OK once we finally got waited on but we sat for a solid 12 minutes before the waitress appeared to tell us she'd be right with us. Then it was another 4 minutes before she took our order. She did apologize for the wait. The prices were reasonable for the quantity of food but I'd rather have paid twice as much money for half as much food that had some flavor to it. I should have known since the place closes at 8pm. They clearly cater to a clientele who's digestive systems can not tolerate the slightest bit of spice.

One of the main reasons I am giving this place 5 stars is because I have gone here forever, since I was a little kid and I just love the place. The owner is so friendly, he treats everyone like he knows them already. I love their homemade chicken noodle soup. Its my favorite from any restaurant. I also love their fried chicken and my favorite is the chicken nuggets. I think the mash potatoes are instant, but I love them! And the little dixy cup of chicken gravy that they give with your order...every fried chicken place should do that. Who doesn't love having extra gravy? Call me crazy but I just love this place...even if it is filled with overweight people pushing 80! Ha ha

It has been around forever. If you eat there often, you won't be. But that is OK from time to time.

The chicken and gravy are awesome! Sure you feel like your heart is going to explode after you eat it but thats how you know it is good.

I've been going there for years. I like the food and the fries are yummy. The prices are reasonable and you get plenty for your money. It caters to an older crowd who probably has also been going for years. I like lunch...not as crowded Easy parking too.

Ah, the Wishbone. If you've ever been in Westminster and wondered where all of the elderly hang-out other than the M.A.C Center, you must not know about this place. (I mean no disrespect-- most of my neighborhood is filled with elderly people). I have only eaten here a couple of times and got my order to go, and each time I felt pretty weird about the clientele. I'm FAR from the right person to judge others given my own rotund figure, but I really feel like most of the people there should not be eating there because they can barely fit in the chairs, are on oxygen, etc. It's certainly a reminder of what eating such food way too often will do to you. Anyhow, on to the food. I feel like they do the midwest interpretation of a fried chicken meal. It's just kind of bland and not the southern style meal you'd expect. The chicken itself is okay, but the skin has a weird texture and flavor which doesn't seem natural.. I'm not sure if it's the oil it's fried in or what. The sides are forgettable-- the mashed potatoes taste like they are from dehydrated 50 lb bag of Sysco potatoes, and the white gravy also tastes like it came from a pre-made packet. It's rare to find good white gravy to go with fried chicken and theirs is definitely not up to par. I think it's over hyped, and eating inside would be a weird experience. Honestly, the fried chicken at the King Soopers deli is better.

Great fried chicken and chicken gravy, the fries could use a little work but they are edible. My favorite thing from this place is the texas toast (with honey of course) They are pretty quick only about a 15-20minute wait for food and do both carryout and dine in. The dine in crowd is usually pretty old and don't appreciate the ruckus my kids make so we usually take out. But for the times we have dined in the wait staff is always really good with the kids and they have highchairs and booster seats.

If your fried chicken experience is served by a Kentucky Colonel, you should treat yourself to a meal here. This is how fried chicken used to be made - without all the oil. Warning, people with heart problems may want to shop elsewhere as fried food is king here.

This really is as good as it gets. The fried chicken is the best in town, along with the fried chicken livers. The chicken salad sandwich is also amazing. Finish it off with texas toast topped with honey and you're good to go!

This place sucks. The food is bland and the wait staff are snarky.

Hubby's all time favorite! You cant live in the north metro area and not at least try Wishbone. You will smell like fried chicken and grease and uggg when you leave, but you will be happy. The chicken is good, but if you are not a fried chicken lover, like myself, the fish is great as well. Not to mention the fried zucchini...yum. The wait staff is superior and they treat you like you have been best friends forever. The clientele is a bit on the + side, but everyone is extremely happy and friendly. We have never had bad service here.

Family Restaurant is the best way to describe this place. I'm pretty sure that most of the times I've been there I've been the youngest person in the room. In any case, the fried chicken is excellent. Crispy on the outside, while still moist and tender on the inside. The chickn dinner is served with a choice of potato, chicken gravy, and texas toast with honey. I can't speak for the rest of the menu since I get fried chicken every time. That said, most of the menu items are deep fried, so don't go expecting to find something healthy. There is sort of a vintage feel to a place that serves Dixie-cup ice cream and liver and onions though. The best thing about this place is the value. Two people can eat for under $25 and leave absolutely stuffed.

The fried chicken here is outstanding. The fish, shrimp, and sides are all sub par, thus the low overall rating. The most interesting thing about this restaurant, however, is that it is an index for the sorry state of our nation. Why do I make such a claim for a fried chicken restaurant you ask? Because, when you arrive you will notice that the clientele are septuagenarians (if not older), a majority of them are severely overweight, several are dining alone, and almost none appear to be happy about eating here. While it is tempting to attribute a causal connection between age and a love of fried chicken, the explanation for this scene is more disturbing. These folks dine here because the food is dirt cheap--and I expect that seniors receive further discounts. So in they flock...when you're pushing 80, and your kids and grandkids can't be bothered, who the hell feels like cooking? Wishbone it is! The problem is that this food is extremely unhealthy. You might reconsider dunking your fried goodness into the little plastic tub of neon yellow "gravy" they give you when the man at the table next to you fires up his life support system just so he can suck down his supper. LET ME BE CLEAR HERE: I have no problem with the elderly or infirm. My point is that these folks are more-or-less forced to eat here because they have few other options. Yes, the fried chicken here tastes good. If you can stand the heartache of watching the last of "The Greatest Generation" kill themselves on it...then enjoy.
