A place to bring your pups and allow them to be off-leash while humans enjoy libations and food?! Sign me right up! As a frequent visitor to the WB since the spot opened, I've seen this place openly listen and take feedback from patrons on changes to make the WB the best it can be. Unfortunately, there are not many dog bars from which to follow an example, and I really believe this place has done an awesome job of flowing and embracing a small learning curve, and it really has become one of my favorite bars. They recently revamped their whole staff and introduced a new menu. And last time I was there, I heard that they may be introducing brunch and yoga on the weekends :) next time you're in, try the soft pretzels or cheese fries- you won't be disappointed! The layout inside is really awesome as well, they have pool tables and different arcade games, plus a slew of events every week. I really love the paint nights and poker tournaments! All in all, fairly priced drinks and food are a cherry on top when you can bring your four-legged best friend :) this is the only place of its kind in Denver, and it does an awesome job!

We came here with a Groupon last night as we're always on the lookout for new places. The concept of a dog bar is certainly attractive, (even though we don't have a dog), as so many people in Denver bring their pups everywhere anyway. Jess arrived before me and sat at the downstairs bar. The bartender told her very nicely that there was about to be poker and it was going to get loud, so she opted to move upstairs. It's nice that they have that option. We bellied up, got beer, and looked at dinner. They offered standard pub grub, we opted for a 6 piece order of honey sriracha wings and an 11 inch pizza. The food came out quickly, but they never gave us plates or silverware to use, just assumed I suppose that we would be using the napkins available. The wings were big and meaty, the sauce was decent in taste but truly had zero heat at all to it. Given that it was sriracha we expected a bit of spice. If we hadn't have built our own pizza I would have sworn it was a frozen pie that was pulled from the freezer when ordered. I expect the crust was, but really the entire thing reminded me of a low end 'za from the frozen food aisle. Their beer list was mediocre, they have a basic range but nothing impressive. They seem to like to focus on shots and specialty drinks but we aren't those people so we stayed away. The biggest complaint I see in the other reviews was service. I'll say this, the two bartenders I interacted with were nice, WHEN we interacted with them. They were frequently missing, and when they were present they were sitting off to the side talking, eating, or texting on their phones. They were slow to refill beers, slow to take our order and slow to follow up. "Meh" describes my experience perfectly. I really can't see myself coming back here.

I wish I could give 0 stars.. I have gone to the watering bowl 3 times and each time has been worse. Last night I received the worst service I have ever had to date. First off, the waitress was horrendous. She came to the table and as we were giving her our drink orders, she turned around to give a great big hug to a passing employee who was drunk off his ass. When she was done with him she finally turned back around to get our orders which she promptly forgot and had to ask us for twice more (1 bud light, 1shirley temple and 1water). It took forever for her to come back to the table to get our food orders and she was incredibly rude and seemed to be annoyed at the fact that she had to wait on us at all. This awful service continued the rest of the night. We were there to watch the UFC fights which they advertise showing. It was 7:15 and I had to flag down the waitress to ask if they were going to turn off the music and turn on the volume for the fights and she said, rudely, "Yes, at 7." I pointed out thst is was currently AFTER 7 so she (again, seemingly very annoyed) turned on the fighs. After the prelims were over and the pay per view started, they realized they had NOT ORDERED the fights yet. The incompetent staff then spent 35 minutes trying to figure out how to order the fights and we missed the entire first fight and then some. We also got no apologies from anyone, of course, AND they charged a cover fee. The waitress and the rest of the staff continued to be rude and unprofessional the rest of the night. At one point, the waitress was on the 2nd level screaming for a guy named Justin to come upstairs and was throwing menus at him from up above to get his attention and taking shots behind the bar while ignoring customers. When we finally found someone to get our bill and pay the guy that helped us was even more rude than the waitress. I have never in my life left 0$ tip (I always tip at least 20%) but I felt they deserved absolutely nothing from me and in fact I should have asked for a refund (at least for the cover charge). What a joke of a place. I wish it was a good bar because I love the concept and it's close to me. This place will be out of business by next year and I'm honestly surprised it has lasted this long. I will never be going back and will make sure everyone I know will not waste their money here either. P.S. I have also never felt compelled to write a review this long!

Wow. I have tried to come here at least three different times and it's closed. Private party, early for the evening, whatever. I have tried to call this place no less than 20 times. They never, ever answer. I wanted to love you but I never had the chance. 2 stars because I love the concept

The idea and atmosphere is great, but the food is only decent and the servers are absolutely horrible. We have been here once before and it was fine, which is why we came back today. We came in and were greeted immediately, but our server chose to either not listen or did not have the capacity to remember things. Each time we ordered (1. Drinks, 2. Appetizers, 3. Meal), we had to repeat our order at least twice. We only saw our server when she was bringing others their orders or when she brought us our orders. Of course, we had to flag her down each time to give her our order and as expected, we had to repeat our order again. Also, our server didn't have a great personality and seemed to hate her job. The other server wasn't any better as she seemed to be annoyed that we flagged her down to get our check when our server was nowhere in sight. I like the premise of this establishment, but the service is highly disappointing. Definitely not a fan and definitely will NOT be coming back.

Good tasty fried bar food and a good atmosphere for letting your dog run around -- terrible service. I've been there three times, and each experience was soured by the poor service. The first time I walked in and went to the bar, I was simply ignored by the staff. There wasn't anyone else being served, but the two servers just continued chatting with each other behind the bar for five minutes before one finally came over. In each of my first two experiences there, they gave our food to the wrong table, which we found out after 45 minutes of waiting without getting our food. What's worse is that they weren't even apologetic about it. Last night was the worst yet. After placing our order (chicken parm sandwich, cheese quesadilla, and onion rings) we had to wait over 70 minutes to get our food. The server said they were backed up due to the rush, but we had arrived and ordered well before the rush, and during our wait we saw many people that arrived 30 minutes after us getting their food. The saving grace was that the food was hot and delicious when it eventually came out. Also, I'm not a fan of the cups. Beside the fact that they're clearly not cleaned well, they give the false impression that you're getting a lot more beer than you actually are.

Awesome concept, crappy patrons. We were so excited to be able to bring out dog here and let him run around. The outdoor space is pretty open, but I think that the layout could use a little work. There is patio seating right in the middle so dogs are running around almost on top of you. The drink prices were ok, a little bit more than you would normally pay at a bar but it's about the experience. We've ordered food before and the serve pizza and sandwiches, they were out of pepperoni, seriously? As I mentioned before the concept is great but the patrons were awful. People were just getting drunk and allowing their dogs to do whatever and since they obviously weren't watching them, they weren't cleaning up after them. I love being able to enjoy a drink outside with my dog and he's certainly not perfectly behaved, but it's frustrating when literally 5 or 6 unsupervised dogs are running out of sight from their owners. All in all, I think I'd rather just take my dog to a dog park to play and run around.

Please come with reasonable expectations! If you're bringing your dog, be realistic. Positives: The wings are amazing! They've just changed the menu again, so I can't speak to much else. We love these so much; I don't even want to try anything else yet. The drinks are very decently priced. We usually try to go during dog-peak times instead of happy hour, but I've still always felt like they have fair prices with well-poured drinks. The outdoor space is pretty perfect for dogs. The turf is easily cleaned, so you don't feel like you're walking around your average dog pit. They must enforce their cleaning fees, because I've never once seen a customer NOT clean up after their dog. They have lots of space for the dogs to run, and the tables are spaced out just enough to give both humans and dogs fun, safe interactions. Negatives: I don't know what the service is like indoors, but the service is never great outside. I get that it's hard to staff both areas, but it does mean that you occasionally have to leave your dog unattended (with strangers and new dogs) outside to go order. They do bring your food out to you, though, so at least there's that. I've also seen one owner allow his dog to be on the tall picnic tables... WHILE we were trying to eat there. He didn't even bother to help after we called out to him to control his dog. Another time, there was a woman changing her baby's diaper on the table. Gross. Just plain gross. The only thing that could possibly make this place better would be having enough employee coverage outside to prevent these few negative customer behaviors. I'd just throw my money at them if they could at least schedule an outside-only server during dog-peak hours.

  • Vicki S.

I really was excited to finally come here. Loved the dogs. The service is horrible. We had to go inside for food and drink requests. The bar girls would come outside and look at us and then run back inside. Never asked us if we needed anything. No eye contact. Too bad. Would be a great place.

The Watering Bowl is a bar with a dog park in it. Every year they have a crawfish boil, and this was the 6th annual event. I heard about it, because I work across the street. I have a dog. I like crawfish. I like being outdoors. Done. The tickets were kind of pricey ($30 each) but if you think about how much crawfish cost, it was worth it. I thought it was just all you can eat crawfish, but it was much more. Hamburgers, hot dogs, cole slaw and beans were other items you could get. Plus, cooked with the crawfish were corn, mushrooms, sausage, potatoes and bell peppers. It was pretty much a 4 hour feast. They just kept cooking and I couldn't seem to stop eating. We definitely got our $30 worth and I will jump in again for next year! Great crowd, you can bring the dogs, and fantastic food!

This bar is fabulous! I love the rules here. They actually have a carpet in case your pup has to tinkle a bit. This is a place that you can literally let your dog enjoy himself and play with the rest the neighborhood while you enjoy a beer. The beer isn't exactly the cheapest, but it's cold, and fresh. They have these great bucket specials but they're only good if you came with atleast one or more people or make a friend or two while you're there. (Theyre about 5 beers) Overall, a great place, I will be back!

Ok, this is not 5 stars in the normal sense- average to good food, the place has some rough edges, etc. But if you like dogs, there is NOTHING more fun than being here on a sunny day drinking and eating while a crazy variety of dogs run around being dogs. Friday eve there was hilarious. And dog people are generally the nicest people you'll meet. Great draft beers, lots of parking, dogs can go inside if leashed. If you need a good laugh to turn your day around, this is the spot. Maybe you don't own a dog; fine, get your canine fix and a cocktail together. Big fun. Probably not cool for kids or anyone fragile. But every kind and size dog gets along fine there in my visits.

This is a great place to take your dog to socialize while you have a beer. The service was extremely slow, so just sit back and relax. You can always go into the bar and get a drink. I didn't order food, but several people next to us did and it looked alright. I probably wouldn't get food here. The beer was cold and my dog had a blast.

I've been wanting to bring my dog here ever since I started passing it on the way to the gym. What a great concept! Hang out, grab a drink, and zero guilt because you bring your dog to do the same thing! Some of the negative reviews delayed me for awhile. The first time I came was a few months ago for a canine-free event, that was an awesome time! Today my husband and I were on the way to get some stuff done on the house, and had our dog with us. It sounded like a crazy beer pong tournament inside, but in the outdoor dog area it was pretty chill. My dog had tons of fun! My husband and I ordered lunch and let him play! The food was okay, not spectacular but not bad either. The super cute bartender was incredibly sweet, took our food order and even brought it out. Hope weather holds out long enough to bring the dog back!

I've been here so many times - how have I never reviewed it? This is really your average dive bar with a couple projection tvs, dogs allowed, and a very small food menu. (To be fair, the menu is small because of the pooches, and they're so cute that the trade off is pretty minor.) Why 4 stars, then? The owner has been SO welcoming of the hordes of kickball players on Wednesday nights, and the tap lines actually taste clean. (Yeah, that last part shouldn't be notable, but let's be honest: it totally is.) The patio is a good size, and considering that the bar is right on Leetsdale, you don't really notice the traffic noise. Also, giant Jenga, cups for flip cup and beer pong, and ping pong available all the time. All wins in my book.

While at the watering bowl, we sat down outside because of a nice day and there was a husky outside who needed attention. This place is dead we are the only ones here. The guy politely said please don't feed his dog, OK cool. Well our service sucks as we had to get up and leave. We were not happy and not coming back!

This isn't our scene, but we stopped in with friends for a women's rugby social that was full of singing and dancing. The beer selection is okay, with at least an IPA, vanilla porter, and milk stout on tap. Could be better, could be worse. Pet friendly, with a pool table, dart boards, and giant jenga to keep you entertained. We didn't try the food, but the pizza that passed by looked like we made the right choice. They had a special: $10 for a pitcher and a pizza. We might have taken them up on this offer if we had been given a better beer option than Coors.

Have visited twice more in the latter half of 2014 to give them a chance, and they have definitely improved things. There are now signs that warn dog owners about being fined if they do not pick up after their dogs (THANK YOU!). Whether or not they are enforcing this is questionable, but at least they are making an effort. I still saw some poop around, but on both visits it was much less than before. Beer selection is average (nothing exceptional and not a huge selection). Food is improved as well - I can now recommend the onion rings and fried green beans as being delicious and worth the price. The patio is still astro-turf and sloping, and the best day/time to visit is when it is sunny. They have a ton of space and could benefit from re-organizing the furniture selection and layout, but at least this is a place now I can feel comfortable bringing my dog back to. You can't change irresponsible pet owners, but you can change the policies of your establishment to mitigate the irresponsible pet owner behavior - thanks Watering Bowl.

This place is down right expensive. Food is not very good. They hold some trashy fighting club here. Meh... the only good thing is it has a lot of places for the dogs to run.

It's a great place because you can bring your dogs, eat, have some drinks, hang out.. Food is OK, it's bar food so what do you expect. But the service is terrible. We were ready to go, asked for our check and the waitress clearly forgot. Wouldn't be a big deal but she came back outside 3 times, only checking on the one table that clearly had some regular customers because she ignored the other 6+ tables outside every time. I even made eye contact with her all 3 times and she ignored me. I had to go inside to get our check then go back in to pay, after splitting the check up between our table myself. Regular, local customers are great but do your damn job and check on ALL of your tables-- we must've been sitting there for 20 minutes before I gave up and went in to get the check myself. Probably won't be going back anytime soon. I've seen several reviews complaining about the service, you'd think they'd do something about it!

I think this place has a lot of potential, but has a ways to go. I came by shortly after they opened on a sunny day. It has snowed the night before. My initial impression was that they were not really ready for customers. There was still some trash, and dog dropping left over from the night before. They had not made much of effort to clear the snow off of tables, chairs, and the paths. Over the next hour, they took care of most of this. I had my dogs with me (why else would you come here?) and found a nice table in the sun for us to hang out. My dogs were able to explore and do some socializing with the people and other canines that showed up later. I soaked up some rays while enjoying some nice Breckenridge Brewery Vanilla Porters. They serve the beer up in a smallish plastic cup (at $5 a pop), but it was cold and tasty on this day. I had a Groupon with me, so I knew I would be ordering at least $20 of stuff. My server was very helpful, and she steered me toward the pizzas. When my pizza arrived, it did not look overly substantial, but it was piping hot, and the flavor was quite good. It was an Italian combination with salami, and I enjoyed it. So, I enjoyed hanging out, I liked my server, and I think it is a great concept here. They did not seem overly organized, and I felt the management (or at least one gentleman) could have spoken more politely to my server (or at least have done it out of earshot of customers). Prices are a bit high, but I look at it as paying a bit more for the privilege of bringing your fur-kids with you.

A friend and I tried this place for the first time today with our dogs, for Sunday lunch. It was LAUGHABLY inept service and mediocre-at-best food. So why give it two whole stars? To be honest, it's a great concept that I really wanted to like, and my dog had a good time. THE HUMAN PART: Grade F We sat outside in the dog park area. It seemed like we were the only people ordering food and not drinking alcohol. I expected table service, but once we ordered, the waitress asked if we wanted to "start a tab?" It was a weird question for a drinkless lunch order at a restaurant. Order Attempt #1: My friend ordered a southwestern wrap, which took about 20 minutes to arrive and tasted fine. I opted for simplicity and ordered a grilled cheese sandwich. The time from my initial order to when I actually had food put in front of me was - no joke - 90 minutes. In the meantime, various servers gave me intermittent updates on the status of the grilled cheese preparation. Apparently "the equipment" was not cooperating. (I suppose my understanding of grilled cheese prep is shamefully unsophisticated? I don't imagine much more than a stove top, or even a toaster.) After about 45 minutes, I was asked if I'd like to order a back-up item in case the grilled cheese attempt failed completely.... Order Attempt #2 was a BBQ sandwich. Twenty plus minutes later I receive a new report: For some incomprehensible reason, they are unable to make the BBQ sandwich. I'm given some rambling excuse about a microwave(??) or something. Eesh. Whatever. Order Attempt #3: This time I let our server suggest to me what was within their power to produce. How about some fries? Yes, I'll take an order of fries to snack on, since my friend finished eating over 30 minutes ago and my stomach is starting to collapse into its own emptiness. I also ordered a cheese quesadilla, with fingers crossed they could manage it. The fries came out very quickly and were fine. And after 10 or so minutes.....*drum roll*..... Cheese quesadilla appeared! Success!! ...Except it tasted like baseball-park-style melted cheese on crispy overly-flavored green tortilla. In all honesty, it was gross. :( My friend had to get up and hunt down a server to request our bill. We wanted to look it over to make sure we weren't overcharged for the failed items and also split up our meals, but the bill wasn't even itemized. And once again, we had to go find someone to please take our money please. It seems like a 90-minute wait for a meal that most 5-year-olds can make might just warrant a comp or a discount or something? No such luck. (I think the fries were free? But who knows, since the check did not offer much information on the subject.) THE DOG PART: Grade B My pup is generally very shy around other dogs, but she was more outgoing than I've seen her! Dogs of all shapes, sizes, and ages were walking about off-leash, greeting each other, playing every once in a while. But it wasn't a high-pressure social situation like most dog parks (yes, my pup is sensitive). So my girl could chill under our table or go interact as she pleased. As you'd expect, there were dog factors. Such as: One dog taking a big smelly dump right next to our table as we ate. One fairly aggressive humper. And a big bold golden retriever shamelessly grabbing fries off my plate, not once but twice. But, dogs will be dogs, and I wouldn't expect any less. There were water buckets around, balls and toys, and lots of things to sniff. THE VERDICT: I suppose there was a reason no one else was ordering food... It was pretty substandard even for bar food, and certainly not worth braving the service risk. As far as I could tell, the staff were teenagers who knew next to nothing about how to do their jobs. I'll try it again, but with substantially lowered expectations.

Okay, I have been to the watering bowl several times and it's cool, but it's kinda changed. 1. You can't bring your dogs in on the weekends. Like even if your dog is sitting in your purse asleep, he still can't come in with you. This kinda defeats the point of a dog bar. I get that it's busy and chaotic, but uh, what did you expect? 2. They don't turn on the heaters outside? I mean there are all of these heaters and I stood out there freezing my little arse off for my one single beer. Guh. If the heaters were on maybe the whole "dogs outside" thing wouldn't be so annoying... 3. The food is good! Like above average bar food. I am impressed by it. 4. Most of the bartenders are really cool and I enjoy talking with them. Would be neat in the summer, but a no-go on cold days. You'll be stuck outside in the freezing cold.

I gave them three stars because of the service. Took forever to get taken care of, then they forgot basic things like water, forgot that they were out of the food we ordered, and I could not get anyone out there so I could pay. Finally went inside to find someone and they were all standing around flirting and talking. However it's an awesome concept and the inside of the bar was really cool too. Lots of games and fun decor. Drinks are cheap and food was pretty good. Now to tell you about the patio, simply to inform you if you plan to bring your dog or eat outside. Has nothing to do with my rating since these things are out of the restaurant's control. Love that you can bring your dog and have them off-leash playing while you "relax." I say "relax" because the one thing I wish people would be better about is watching their dogs. Yes it's a social atmosphere and you're going to be distracted talking to others, yes you're probably going to be sitting down, eating and drinking, focused on your meal, but you still need to keep an eye on your dog. I believe all the negative comments below would be fixed if people just watched their dogs. It would be cleaner because people would notice when their dog makes a mess and hopefully pick it up. Also couldn't believe that people would allow their dogs to climb up on the tables that people were eating on. Dogs will be dogs and do naughty things. You don't need to get mad, just walk over and correct them with a command or by physically leading them off the table and on to something else. A lot of dog fights also would have been avoided if people watched the "beggars." The dogs who sit at the base of whichever table has food. The begging doesn't bother me because dogs are naturally going to try to get the scraps that fall and if you don't like dogs staring at you while you eat, you probably shouldn't come here..the problem is when you have 5 or 6 dogs crowding around under a table and they start to get snippy with each other and resource guard, fighting over who is going to get the dropped food. All people have to do is pay attention, and if you see your dog begging at a table or in a mass of 5 other dogs, come over, and lead them somewhere else, maybe give them a tug toy or something else to distract them.

I love the idea of a place to hang out, have a drink and some food, and let your furry children run about around you. Everyone there definitely made it pleasant as it definitely creates the type of atmosphere to meet your fellow patron. The pawbender option on the menu for the pups is a great addition. I wish there were more! Also, I wish there was the possibility of separating off small and large dog or low and high-end play areas. But, all and all, it was a great place to spend a few hours on a sunny afternoon with your furry friend.

I stopped in today with my friend and our two dogs for a beer and some appetizers. We had such a good time! The beer selection was nice and pretty inexpensive. There was only one server working all of the outdoor patio/dog area so we just decided to go in and order at the bar. The service was friendly and they remembered exactly who we were when they brought our food out. We loved letting our dogs play off leash while enjoying ourselves as well. Service is not extremely quick outside but it goes with the relaxed nature of the bar. We also noticed they have corn hole and a beer pong table... How fun! We will definitely be back.

The service wasn't that great, they weren't very friendly. Bartenders and servers... The nicer you are, the more tips you might receive. The bartender also charged me for two drinks when I only ordered one. Not to mention I gave $1 tip but they charged my card with a $2 tip. Don't think I'll be going back there again.

I'm glad I didnt let the previous reviews stear me away from this place like they almost did until a friend told me to check it out. It is not dirty at all! Very clean in fact. I even saw a sign that said you would be fined if you don't pick up after your pooch. The service was decent (she did forget to open my beers)- but they came around offering complimentary fresh cut watermelon slices. I didn't try the food (I'm excited they have gluten free pizza) but at $16 for a bucket of stella... I have nothing to complain about! I will say I was worried about this concept... I was imagining people getting drunk and not paying attention to their dogs running wild, but the atmosphere was relaxed and no doggie aggression that sometimes worries me at the dog park. Don't take my word though, go check it out for yourself! !

I love that I get to bring my pup, but the staff seems like they don't really want to be there and are grab assing half of the time. We have never had our dog get mauled, but I have seen a few owners who are more concerned with their beer selection than watching their dogs. Also, if your dog is aggressive do us all a favor and leave them at home.

my dog had a great time and everyone was so nice...I picked up after my dog and so did everyone else...so that was not an issue...can't wait to bring my friends on a warm summer day to just hang outside with our pooches:). the inside was beautiful as well...wasn't expecting that. The staff was very friendly and on it. I've read some of the reviews on here and I'm surprised and dissapointed at some the low ratings cause I didn't experience that at all....I would love to see however maybe some of those heaters for the outside when it gets chilly...but all in all it was a happy day for me and my pooch

Watering Bowl is a dog park with a bar attached! Fantastic idea!!! Without the dog park feature, this place wouldn't really be my scene. The staff is friendly, but the inside of this place is a frat boy's dream, complete with beer pong. The beer selection is limited, and I did not try the food. Now if only I had a place like this within walking distance.

Been here several times with and without the pups in tow. It's pretty darn great. The dog space has always been clean when I've been there. Inside, there's games, and plenty of variety in table setups. The bartenders are usually pretty quick, but maybe not much for conversation. The food selection is pretty limited, that's the only reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5. But really, who could go wrong with bacon-wrapped meatballs.

Very cool new bar! I stopped in to check this place out after a pal of mine told me that he would be dealing in a free bar poker night there on Tuesdays and Thursdays... Very different from the traditional bar scene, and a few things really stand out. First, this is a dog friendly establishment, so lots of patrons show up bringing their pooches in tow. Next is the huge vaulted ceiling, which makes the place feel very airy and open. Additionally, there is fooseball and billiards for those looking for some gaming action, as well as a great outdoor patio area. All in all, great spot to catch a game, play a game, put back a pint, etc... I wish them the best of luck!

I would absolutely stay away from the Watering Bowl. They cancel events the night before and leave you to figure out where you will have your party for 70 attendees even with a down payment. After we put the payment down to hold the space for our 65th Birthday Party celebration we came in and ordered food. The pizza was less than average. The fried green beans were the best part of the entire menu. I'm definitely not returning nor am I recommending the use of this event center. Too bad I was super excited when I located the spot.

Welp, no dogs allowed anymore (as of yesterday?). They're only allowed outside, and servers cannot go out there. I guess you can still order, but have to take it out yourself. The guy at the front said that it was only today because of St. Pattys day- but the girl at the bar said never again. It was too chilly outside for us to want to eat there, so we had a beer and left. Guess it was a nice idea while it lasted! We would have been regulars.

Confusing place!! Great concept but they can't deliver. Just a rundown building. No business hour posted on the building and hours shown on Yelp is wrong. They only open from 4pm. So our attempt 1 for lunch didn't happen. Came back for attempt 2 on Monday, greeted by someone who told us that they only host a private party every Monday. Where did it say that? Anyway, finally the 3rd time isn't the charm either. Very limited food selection. And then was shocked to know that the cook has an errand at 6pm!!! and won't be back another 10 mins to make our wings! What a place! Business concept as a dog park/bar isn't there. I wouldn't bring my dog to the place where people are allowed to smoke where he runs around.

Do not go here. There are many places that allow dogs that are so much better than this place. It's dirty, like disgusting. There is dog poop everywhere. I mean EVERYWHERE. I get that it's dog friendly but you should be able to walk around the actual bar and not step in it. On top of that, the service was horrible. The food... Ordered boneless chicken wings. Inquired about them, she said they would be "chucks of chicken breast". I waited at least a half hour for them and they came out stone cold. Clearly frozen. And they were basically chicken nuggets. There is a difference, a significant difference, between ground up chicken nuggets and chicken breast. I was incredibly disappointed and would never return. If I could get 0 stars, this would get negative. Seriously just because it's dog friendly, doesn't mean you need to lower standards for cleanliness, service, and food quality.

I'm not sure where to start with this review. I like the idea of having a dog park and bar together. We went with a group of people with my 1 year old puppy and the service sucked. The waitress didn't ask if we wanted to start a tab and we hardly saw her. Once we did find a waitress it was some other one but was still helpful. One of the guys on my group got chicken wings and bacon cheese fries. The fries should have been cooked longer and the wings seemed to have been in the frozen and just warmed up. The coors light that they had seen flat and I wasn't the only one saying that. Near the end of the visit a very aggressive dog attacked another dog in my group, the owner not knowing then the same dog attacked another dog not even 5 minutes later. When we said something we where asked to leave we but he was aloud to stay. The owner followed us out to the parking lot yelling and screaming and ended up braking a friends pair of sunglasses. I will not be going back to this place, horrible service, food wasn't that good, beer wasn't that good and aggressive dogs. This place needs to be shut down. I would rather take my puppy to a dog park to run around

Worst. Wings. Ever. Management made an effort to make amends by offering mediocre onion rings, but the pub grub here is terrible, overall. Decent beer selection and WTF with all the dogs. DO NOT come here unless you are a dog person.

Gross. Gross food. Gross place. Gross service. Just gross! Food: Minimal effort here. And for what you pay, it's grossly overpriced. We waited 45 minutes for our food, didn't finish it, dropped $40 for the three of us and then went to Sonic. Fail. Place: Inside is decent, but no one goes in there because they came with their dog and dogs are only allowed outside. And for some odd reason, the downstairs, which is the coolest part of the venue, is closed to the public. What? The patio outside had poop smeared on the astroturf as well as a few piles of vomit. Next to said vomit were a pile of beer pong balls and beer pitchers. Ick! Made food seem even more gross. Service: So there's no service on the patio, which - again - is where all the people are. So you have to go into the bar to order your food and get your own drinks. If I was a waitress here, I would quit because they can't make much in tips. Once your food does come out, you have to listen for the server to auction it off behind the gate. "Brandon? Is there a Brandon here?" They need to have service on the patio including a patio monitor that calls peoples attention when their dog gets out of hand - like trying to jump up onto your table to eat your food - or to clean up the poop. Granted, most of this would be solved if the patrons were courteous and cleaned up after their own animal, but just like everything else at this establishment, that's just expecting way too much. You have to really love your dog to come here. You're better off just going to the park with a sixer. Never again.

I'd like to start by saying that I have an australian shepherd puppy, if you know what that means then you know that my boyfriend and I are generally desperate for anything that will allow us to get her some exercise! Sometimes though, dog-parks can be a little intimidating since a lot of people don't train their dogs properly before letting them loose in the parks. That being said... The Watering Bowl is PERFECT! The owner, Justin, is very friendly and down-to-earth and succeeded in making us feel comfortable the moment we walked in. He gave us a full tour and you could tell that he put a lot of love into this project. Here are the highlights: - Awesome Happy Hour & Drink Specials throughout the week (Wednesdays are ladies' night with 2-4-1 specials). - Every dog owner I have met at the Watering Bowl is respectful and responsive to their pets' behavior. No one wants to lose the privilege of enjoying a beer while being good dog owners! - HUGE outdoor patio with space heaters, plenty of seating, & more tennis balls than our little monster knows what to do with. - Dogs are allowed OFF-LEASH outside and ON-LEASH inside. Making life so much easier on us puppy lovers when we need a beer but also need our little one to be worn out before we can relax. - Great selection on tap - Try the oven baked wings! Healthier and tastier than most I've tried in Denver.

So, we've been to the Bark Bar and to the Watering Bowl -- both have their pros and cons. Whenever we go to either one, we're never there for the food, just the drinks and dog aspect. Human lounging area winner goes to the Watering Bowl. They have a TON of chairs and space for humans to hang around and just chat. We went there with another couple on a Sunday afternoon with temps in the 40's/50's (call us Colorado crazy, but it was warm!). There were 4 more dogs there, so it was very relaxed and a lot of open space. We ended up staying for a few hours since we weren't having to stand around (which is more of the vibe at Bark Bar) Drink winner goes to the Bark Bar. The Bark Bar has friendly staff that serves us as soon as we walk in. They also have doggie inspired cocktails + full coffee/tea setup, which is great for the colder days. In addition, the Bark Bar has a much larger beer selection (if you're a beer person). Prices are about the same ($5-6 for a beer). Other PROS/CONS Bark Bar - Small yard to play in and gets REALLY crowded on a Saturday. In residential area, so always feel bad when the pup barks. LOW fences along VERY busy street. Specifically a dog bar/play area, there's no confusion about that. They OWN their identity and know who they're marketing to. Watering Bowl - The Watering Bowl seems to have an identity crisis. HUGE projection screen for games, dog area, 'lounging area' with couches, poker night, etc. From other reviews, seems like the food isn't that great. They need to pick a concept and run with it. They don't have a double fenced entrance/exit, which can be really dangerous (but they do have grates, which dogs don't enjoy walking on, to deter the dogs). They too, have low fences. Final verdict, if it's just the two of us, we'll head to the Bark Bar, just because it's closer (or the actual dog park that is less than a mile away). But if there's going to be a big group of us, we'll head to the Watering Bowl. But, you can't go wrong with booze and a dog park -- it's a Coloradan's match made in heaven!

A few friends and I went out for drinks decided to give this place a try. We and our Great Pyrenees, Jake, had a blast! The Watering Bowl has everything that I could could desire in a social hangout. The drink selection and prices are great and the amenities are top notch. The building is architecturally intriguing and creates an intimate place to relax with friends and pups, watch the game, or play foosball and pool. Outside is a really neat off-leash area that is covered in turf (protocol is to clean up after your dog and the entire area is sanitized daily). Jake and the other canine patrons were thoroughly pleased. There is plenty of space to run and the fence keeps the perimeter secure. Several tower heaters keep the area pleasant for those without fur. The staff were notably attentive and friendly; they alone would would warrant a five star review. Apparently there's also a full kitchen as well but we had already eaten. We found out that The Watering Bowl fully opened just two days before we arrived. The crowd was light which gave us the opportunity to meet most of the other patrons and their dogs. Jake and I will most certainly be back.

My expectations were rather low (it's a new place, and with the novelty of the concept they don't have to try very hard in order to draw in patrons and make a profit) but the Watering Bowl rose above! The food was better than I expected, though the service was quite "relaxed" (this was fine because we weren't in a rush). Beer selection is slim but $4 mimosa are pretty awesome. I loved that there were water and balls everywhere and they dumped a big bucket of ice for the dogs. The other patrons were friendly and the dogs were well controlled. Awesome spot to spend an afternoon with the pooches, my girl is dead tired after all that activity!

So many times I want to grab some beers but feel bad about leaving the dogs at home. But now we have the Watering Bowl!!! It's an amazing concept. Outside area is great, esp the heaters this time of year. Inside has 2 big bars, cozy spots and fun games. Have you ever seen a beer pong arcade game? It's the tits! Everyone friendly, dogs have a blast. Can't wait to spend time here in the warmer months! Dennis was great bartender :)

My faithful friend and I LOVE this place. Really relaxed atmosphere, good food and incredibly friendly staff. I asked first, but ended up bringing my computer here to study, relax with my dog and have a drink. They were totally fine with this, despite the strange request and were even overly-accommodating, asking if I wanted the lights turned up, etc (it was a slow weekday night) My dog loves playing with other dogs who are sitting near us and running around outside. Perfect place to entertain the pup but also relax and socialize.

Great concept! Our little 8 lb dog was intimidated for a few minutes at first but got used to it. Good beer selection, didn't have food so can't comment on that. Really liked the atmosphere of the inside and outside!

Called to see what this place was about, guy picks up phone and says "Yep?" what happened to identifying yourself and your business? I asked where they were located, to which he replied "Isn't the address on the website?" I said "Sorry to bother you" to which he replied "OK"... will never go here... learn professionalism!

Don't go here unless you want to deal with the biggest jerk of an owner I've ever met in my life. We had a simple question about a mistake on the tab and his immediate response was to call us thieves for asking about it, pretend to call the cops to throw us out of the bar. I've never met such a disgusting person.

  • Jake L.

RIPOFF!! I bought four (4) shots of their standard advertised $4 shots of Patron & got my $16 tab, proceeded to pay with $10 cash + $10 Gift Card from I won a week ago, to which the staff had to "run by the owner", who says since I'm paying (part mind you, not ALL of my tab) with a house cash gift card I won previously my shots are now $8 apiece and my new tab is $32

  • Cassie H.

Awesome place! food was great, beer was good and outside areas was clean. they are very strict on picking up after your dog (in a nice way) which is how it should be. our waiter/bartender was awesome - he made up his own shots for us to try and they rocked! All dogs were behaved. Only disappointing parts is that its so far from Westminster where I live!!! my dog was beat from all of the activity - definitely going back SOON!

The food is YUCK! And it is super annoying that the outdoor heaters never ever work. But, there are positive aspects to this place. You can bring your dog, and the other patrons are cool. I hate going on the weekends or during busy times, it's nothing but a disorganized clusterf*** of angry people and dogs trying to hump you. But, I LOVE going on weekday afternoons as soon as they open. The regulars are nice, the atmosphere is laid back, and the all-you-can-drink happy hour is FOR REAL! So glad this place is walking distance to my apartment.

I like the fact that you can take your dog there but that's about it. The patio is filthy with dog poo everywhere. They have heat lamps outside but they seem to be broken. We ordered onion rings and beer. Onion rings arrived burnt.

Do you like and care about dogs? Like delicious drinks and good service? Then AVOID THIS AWFUL PLACE!!!!! The service is complete crap. If I could give this place -10 stars, I would gladly do so. Better yet, if I could shut this place down immediately I would do so with a big smile on my face. They constantly have dogs that are not spayed or neutered (so likely without any vaccinations as well). The service was so awful that I was completely disgusted, the food was disgusting and still priced incredibly high. The bartenders had no idea what they were doing an should probably go finish middle school. Everyone employed in this bar was rude beyond belief and their nonchalance about the behavior of the patrons and dogs on their patio is disgraceful. On top of everything, there were multiple people on the patio attempting to SELL dogs....really?? Not to mention the people that were dumping their dogs on the patio to go inside and get wasted beyond belief just hoping someone else would take care of their horrendously behaving dogs. If you are a regular patron of this establishment than you should be embarrassed to be a part of the human race.

I really want to love this place and I really love the idea of a dog bar! On the upside, I think they have a decent selection of beer and the space is pretty cool. However, they need to improve on a number of things. First off, I think they need to hire an experienced manager who knows how to run a bar/restaurant. Customer service is lacking. I notice the bathrooms are rarely stocked with soap or tp and are dirty. They are understaffed and my bill has been wrong a number of times (usually in their favor). They need an attendant or at the very least rules in the dog park for folks who don't pick up after their pets and for banishment of dogs that aren't friendly. They stopped allowing dogs inside on the weekends or during events (like we need any more dance clubs in Denver), which kinda defeats the purpose of being a dog friendly bar. I recently heard dogs weren't going to be allowed inside at all anymore, which will certainly curb my visits. To top it off they never seem to have the heat lamps on outdoors for people when it's cold out. I really love the idea of this place, and I would like to see them succeed, but they need to improve on a number of things if they are going to make it.

Good concept for a bar, me and my fiance came here with our dog on a weekday night. Wasn't too busy and not a lot of other dogs around, but our puppy still had a good time. There are two levels on the inside, the upper level seemed to be where most people would hang out, the bottom level seemed unfinished. We ordered a pizza and onion rings, and the food was marginal at best. There was one bartender and a waitress who was serving the poker players. We had trouble getting service from the bartender (he spent a lot of the night on his cell phone, but was nice enough when we tracked him down for drinks), the waitress on the other hand was vey helpful and courteous even though we weren't in her area. This bar will be good once they put the finishing touches on the place. We will be coming back (but will probably eat somewhere else first).

  • Nathan H.

So I think the concept is cool, but executed really poorly. The menu and food is awful. The staff didn't seem to care about anything. Everything served came ready to eat, always a bad idea if you want to make any money on it. Oh get some tvs outside to came to watch the game with my dog and had to leave her outside. If you want some consulting I'm available.

Let me first say that I have only been to the outdoor area, but on a sunny day this place is great! We brought our Golden Retriever there on a Saturday and had a good time. We didn't order food and I don't think I ever will want to order food at a place that has dogs running all over the place. We had a few beers and hung out while our dog played. I am sure we are not alone in having a dog who has endless energy, and our walks can only do so much. This gives us a new way to get him exercise...and we can drink beer at the same time!

  • John Q.

This is a great concept for a dog-friendly restaurant and I hope it's here to stay. The food is your basic pub variety and they also have a great beer selection. The real attraction, though, is the canine accommodations. There is a good-sized astro turf play area outside with plenty of tables. This area also has a tented portion with propane heaters for bad and/or cold weather. The inside area has picnic-style tables downstairs and a lounge area upstairs. Dogs must be leashed, but they can run free outside. If the prices seem a little higher - or if it's slightly stinky - customers are paying for the dog amenities and they are worth the price.

I've been a couple times now, and I'll just say don't go hungry. The food...not so good. I ordered the spinach artichoke dip, it was a runny mess. I also ordered a $5 Blue Moon, seems a bit pricey. It was a Thursday afternoon and there was apparently only one person working? But my dogs enjoy it, but they're not eating the food! :) I'm not sure how likely I am too return. It really could be a neat place, just not right now.

Sooo I went here and of course I had to wait 22 minutes to get a beer. I would have left but my dog was really enjoying another puppy, so I decided to humor myself and see how long it would take to even be noticed. I will never be going back. It smells like piss and bad attitudes.

Very cool place! Good food, I had the wings and a couple pizzas. Wings were nice and served dry, with sauces on the side. A nice change! Pizza is small but delicious - I think it was the super buttery-tasting crust. Environment was great, huge vaulted ceilings and friendly DOGS! Huge projector screens for watching the game. Highly recommended

I stopped here for a quick beer with my dog. She was having so much fun that I stayed for another. Small amount of craft beer offered, and they always have drink specials. The play area for the dogs was clean but was a little cluttered. I appreciate that they have a parking lot that will accommodate their patrons.

Only bar I know that you're able to bring your pup to and order food. Owner and staff are super friendly. Wish I lived closer. If you hate seeing those sad puppy eyes when you're leaving the house to go to happy hour, you don't have to anymore, go to the watering bowl.

This place is a good concept but it's poorly executed. When I entered with my dog, I had no idea where to go or if there was a procedure--the place could use some signage. After being ignored by staff bustling past me, I asked a patron how to get to the outside area. Turns out, you have to go through a bit of a labyrinth to get there. So I went outside and chose an empty table (and hoped that's how it worked) and then I sat there for nearly 30 minutes while staff came and went without even glancing at me. There was what appeared to be an aggressive dog tethered nearby so to be cautious, I kept my dog on her leash until I could get a better idea about the questionable dog. I finally gave up on getting served and so I gathered up my stuff and took my dog to the bar inside, where I was informed that food and drinks should be ordered there. Did I mention they could use some signs? I took my drink and my dog and my bag and everything back to my table. Soon after, the aforementioned questionable dog lunged at my tiny Bassett hound and pulled on his leash so hard that he toppled over the woman's chair that he was tied to. She was clearly drunk and after several obnoxious minutes of her chewing out her "bad dog", she gathered up her other 3 dogs (you heard me) and left. My pizza arrived at my table a few minutes later and I had to wrap my arm around my plate to keep dogs away. And watching multiple dogs take a poop during my meal was less than appetizing. Especially since I was apparently sitting near an industrial sized barrel of poop. The food was average but it didn't matter because my desire to eat was gone. I wanted out of there as fast as possible. Again--- this is a great idea, but very poorly executed.

I've been here twice with my girlfriend, dog, and friends. This place is really fun! Their drinks are every good! It's very nice to be able to go out after a long day with my friends, and take your dog who's been home alone and bored all day! Like knocking two birds with one stone. I will keep comin here for delicious drinks, fun atmosphere, dog loves it, and to play pool.

We were there on a Tuesday afternoon. Dog poop everywhere, ugh. The metal steps with the big drain holes scared a lot of the dogs. The food.......the overpriced food.......was REALLY BAD. We had a $10 southwestern wrap which was bland and had very little meat. The $3 ones at McDonald's are better. If you can't find the staff, they're out on the porch smoking. We won't be back.

The Denver Watering Bowl has a interesting concept that has been successful in other businesses but unfortunately flopped into failure. As I walked in with friends both dogs and humans we were greeted with the smell of something burning. Not a food burning smell but something just wrong. Almost as if a homeless man had a tire fire in the back. I order a over priced drink and went to the "dog park" which looked more like a tacky put-put golf course. Shortly after sitting down my friend pointed out that our table was surrounded with dog shit. We should have just left but we went back inside to face the smell and the music. I payed 10 bucks for what tasted like a microwave oven pizza and left. Pretty unsatisfied. I will never go there again. It is probably going to close in a year just like every business that has occupied that building.

This is a great place to go to on a nice day. The dog area is nice and big. Only cons are that the management is not the best at keeping the year 100% poop free and that the door is not super amazing. I will be returning.

I was excited to check out this new concept with my pup. Great idea, poor execution. I think the Watering Bowl has potential, but it just isn't there yet. I attended the Dogoween event which ended up being the opening night. The outdoor dog park has great space, but the gate leading to Leetsdale Road and the parking lot didn't even latch and opens outward. Yikes! There are stairs outside that have holes easy for a smaller dog to get legs caught in. The night I was there, all of the beer lines were not full yet. Only Sam Adams choices. Perhaps that will change. The $20 I paid for entrance didn't include anything but entrance and a costume contest. At $5 a pint it was an expensive evening. The kitchen wasn't open as stated and there was no valet like the ticket promised, but there was a food truck. I understand growing pains, but the guests should have been compensated for the difference than what was promised. Even a drink special would have been nice. I will not be returning unless I hear some changes have been made. I don't feel like I could relax with my dog in that environment until some kinks are ironed out.

I have been to the watering bowl about 4 or 5 times now. The first couple times were great, very friendly dogs and staff. The last time I went was AWFUL! When me and my friend first got there we were told that they wouldnt be opening for another hour. Then once we came back once they were open, we were helped out and everything was great. They even gave me a couple of shots for free. Once it was time to pay I had a groupon deal and decided to use it. My total was 40.57, but with the groupon it ended up being .57. So being I server, I know its always nicer to get cash tips rather than someone tipping you on a credit card. So after I signed I decided to not leave a tip on my card and that I would leave a tip in cash on the table. Once I went back out to the table and got my money out I looked up and saw our waitress standing there. She then said to me "I know you had a groupon but you cant tip me". I then told her I had left her $10 which is over 20% of what my bill was. I found this to be very rude and it really makes me re think coming back to the Watering Bowl. If I were you I would stay far away.

What can I say? This place is an undiscovered gem of Denver night life. The concept alone is something to make you sit up and pay attention - a bar where you can bring your canine companions and let them do some romping while you wine, dine, and socialize. We took our dog and checked it out on a Saturday night. It's only been open a short time, so there wasn't a crowd. We were greeted immediately upon walking in the door, given a quick tour and shown to the upper level patio, which has a couple of turf-covered and fenced play areas, chairs, and heaters (definitely a plus in the chilly evening!). The kitchen was closed when we arrived, so we didn't get to try the food, but the menu looked great. Drinks were reasonably priced, comparable to many other bars and better than several other places I've been. (Love that they have Dry Dock and the wells don't start at bottom-shelf.) The patrons, the staff and all the dogs were friendly and seemed to be enjoying themselves, which just adds to the great atmosphere at this place. (The owner's gorgeous Rotties were really the life of the party.) It's a beautiful building, and the big screens and game tables provide plenty to occupy you once you're done being outside for a while. I'd definitely recommend hitting the Watering Bowl before the word gets out, because I fully expect this place to be packed out the doors within a month.

The gate issue really needs fixed. Someone left the gate open and my friends dog ran out to the busy Leetsdale Street. She was able to catch him but someday someone may not be so lucky. This is an accident waiting to happen. At least put in a spring action door so that it closes automatically if you can't implement a double door at this time. I understand this is enter at your own risk but this is just dangerous.

This place is Fantastic!! The dog park is large and well fenced (there is a latch on the gate despite what someone here had said). The staff is super friendly, beer selection is good and the building is unique. What more could you ask for! It was a great change from the regular bar and I foresee it becoming one of my regular hangouts!

Great idea, poorly executed. I went there the first week it opened. I wasn't really impressed, but I knew it was new, and they were probably still working out the kinks. The second time there was to watch the Broncos play the Chargers. It was too cold outside for humans and dogs, so at least the dogs were allowed indoors. However, the screens were difficult to see and the service was less than great. No one stopped by the table to take my order--ended up going to the bar, and that still took forever. The third and last time was today for the AFC game. I sat outside for 30 minutes with no service, even though I let the server know I was there. Then, to add insult to injury, there were no tv screens or radios outside...what a disappointment to those of us being responsible dog owners by staying with our dogs (there were a handful of people outside and the dogs outnumbered the people--not safe).
