2:30 PM Tuesday afternoon. Walked in stood at the counter for 6 1/2 minutes nobody said one word to me so I turned around and walked out. Before I walked out I went to the bathroom to wash my hands. Judging by the looks of the bathroom I'm probably really glad I didn't eat in this rat infested filth hole.

Came here recently after celebrating with friends downtown (don't worry, I was NOT drinking and driving!) and ordered a breakfast burrito. I honestly do not think I have ever consumed anything so quickly. It was the BEST late-night mexican food I have ever had (exceeds taco bell cravings by a long-shot), and I woke up hangover-free for the first time in months!

Do not go here. Awful service and they will give you the wrong order. Tonight my bf did a take out order. We called them to inform then that they gave us the wrong burrito. The jerk started arguing and blaming my bf. He even hung up on him twice. Customer service is non existing here.

This place has changed their menu and now it sucks. I'm not sure why they changed the food, maybe new owners but it's not the same and we won't be back. This place used to have great food but not anymore. Blehk!

Chicken fajita burrito was delicioso! But kinda weird that the potato chorizo taco had french fries in it haha. Overall pretty good though and i liked the menu.

This location was filthy! The tables weren't clean or wiped down, one of the tables had spilled soda under the floor, this left it sticky. Also it took five minutes to place our orders with no line, and they charge 21 cents for a small container of extra salsa. Lame! On the food side it's good, but recommend drive through only.

I've been coming to this viva location since they first opened, it's sad to see a good restaurant slip so far after coming so far. The last two times I've came in have really been bad. Each of the two last visits I ordered the same thing, the chorizo breakfast burrito.... First off the over all appearance of the burrito is the same, the great tortilla, but here is where they have lost their way...... The potatoes used to be diced fresh potatoes cooked to perfection. Now they are mushy chopped up French fries, that's horrible no one want to eat that... Yuck... The salsa has lost its flavor as well, and the color looks wrong to boot.. It's not the same any more and that's sad because it used to be real good. The restaurant is a bit shady on the out side, it has always been that way... But that's ok the food used to be real, and real good. I don't think I'll be back... And that's sad... I used to really love this place. I used to stop in on Friday mornings and pick up twelve breakfast burritos at a time and bring them into the office for all the crew to enjoy....

I love the breakfast burritos here, but 20 minutes to get my lunch doesn't work with my schedule. I'll stick to weekend mornings and avoid lunch here in the future. Management should take another look at their staffing during lunch hours. The staff that was working was very friendly!

  • Ashlee F.

Usually love their food however today the entire business was closed, due to an employee who didn't show up. At first I went through drive-through called out for two minutes no response finally went in and was told that no one could serve me because the one person who speaks English and can work the register didn't show up, terrible costumer services I've seen in years

This was my 3rd visit or so during lunch time. The staff is well spoken and friendly. I ordered chile rellenos combo and went to the restroom to wash my hands.. no paper towel, hand dryer out of order. dang.. this bathroom was checked over 4 months ago.. thats what the bathroom check off sheet said.... had to wipe on my pants and got out. about 5 minutes later my meal came out.. humongus pc of chile with side of generic lettuce and beans.. and a drink for about $7. I guess it's pretty good deal from fresh mexican meal.. food tasted pretty good and i thought it was very good value for the money.. this place needs major updates.. original jack in the box many many years ago and nothing has been updated since then.. BYO towels. this is just an after thought.. how does staff dry there hands?

I love this place. Fast, good, hot food!! I always get the H burrito which is the breakfast version of the potato steak burrito. YUMMM! The .99 tacos are amazing too!!

I have been going to Viva Burrito for many, many years. It is not close to where I live, so I must go out of the way to get there, but it is very worth the trip. I have tried many of their items and they are always good. But what keeps me coming back are the scrumptious breakfast burritos available anytime, but seem to taste better in the early morning hours. I get the "B - Bacon Breakfast Burrito add sour cream." -faints- With these breakfast burritos, which are served on homemade flour tortillas, the price is right, they are hearty to the extreme and I always leave with a smile on my face. Who could ask for anything better? If you live near or far, there are many locations, and it is worth the drive. Also pick up a horchata while you are there. You'll be glad you did.

This place used to be half way decent but it has deteriorated rapidly, not to mention my wife became violently ill after she made a trip to eat there.

Love this hole in the wall place, looks can be deceiving, it needs some fresh paint but they def keep it affordable and delicious. Food is good and quality! Only thing is they need to redo the bathroom. But overall I love the food.

Date(s) visited: about 2 times. Food/Drink: 3/5 Service: 4/5 Atmosphere: ? Price: 5/5 Parking: 5/5 "FOR MEXICAN FOOD ON THE GO" Food/Drink: Average Mexican food. The good thing is they do have the Pickled Carrots, Jalapenos, and Onions. Good place to come if you have the munchies...Lol Service: Average... Atmosphere: The good thing is this place has a drive-inn if anyone is too lazy to get out of their car. I unfortunately can't give a fair review on the restaurant's atmosphere since I have yet to eat inside of the restaurant. Price Cheap... Parking: Free parking in front of the building. MY THOUGHTS? Nothing fancy to write to mom about but...I'd still come back if I were Lazy AND Hungry... RECOMMENDATIONS: Ummm..their Chicken Burrito?

Real mexican food! My husband and I are from AZ. We have been here one year and have not found real good az mexican food till today! Love this place and will be back!

  • Bianca S.

This place is always open which is awesome!! They have super yummy breakfast burritos, my favorite has to be the steak one. They have the best salsa to put on top. The food here doesn't taste white washed and cheap like most "Mexican" food does in Colorado. Their burritos are definitely the perfect hangover cure!! I love that they have a drive through too.

  • Mari F.

Carne asada burritos and fries are bomb every time I order. Always delicious, but they are stingy with extra salsa. Im a pretty regualar customer and always get what I want, but today I got a kids meal with a burrito and wanted to make the small drink a larfe. They didnt charge an up size fee but charged for a whole large drink. Drive thru was really slow just for the happy meal and I got a quesadilla instead of a burrito even though my receipt did say burrito.

    (3)
  • Solowonnme G.

Takes me back to my drunken college days at the university of az.. Where viva burrito began! But this one is so cheap! 27 cents for extra salsa get real!

    (3)
  • Mark J.

Fast. Simple. And real Mexican food. Love the breakfast burritos in here. Location and parking us convenient. Dining in is not 5 star but it is what it is. And it's still in business for a reason right? Hell yeah!

    (5)
  • Alexis G.

I must confess, Viva Burrito is my go-to place for those late night cravings. I get the fish tacos every time. They're tiny, but they pack big flavor with that tangy tartar sauce. Things to know before you go: This place is a total dive. Only use the drive-thru. Seriously, the dining room is not an option. Also, Viva is totally cheap -- you can get a meal for less than $5.

    (4)
  • Phung L.

This place is okay. Opens late and is affordable. A step or two above Taco Bell. I always get the California burrito which has all the typical ingredients but with fries in it as well. Though I'd very much prefer Tacos Rapidos, Viva Burrito is closer so it will have to suffice.

    (3)
  • Talia H.

Alright here's the deal... don't come here for a comfortable dining experience. Come here for the best Mexican/best fast food in Colorado. Super cheap. Super good. I can eat their rolled tacos (think tacquitos) all day long! You get tons of food for very good price. Just don't eat inside... 24 hour open drive-thru... so good...

    (4)
  • Rad S.

Average. The tacos are deep fried and were soaked in oil. Maybe they have other things on the menu that are better, but the tacos were a little gross. If I ever come back I'll try something else.

    (3)
  • Eryn H.

My order is almost always wrong. I ask them to leave something off and they end up adding extra of what I don't want and leaving out something key like guacamole. The staff takes forever to get orders filled. Used to be better, very disappointed. Tastes great when they can manage to get it right, but that's rare. Can't deal with it anymore, gonna have to find a better burrito joint.

    (1)
  • Joe R.

For a fast food mexican place it really doesn't get much better than this. I've had the carne asada burrito several times, and have been happy every time. They don't fill it up with rice like qdoba or chipotle, just a tortilla stuffed with beef, tomatoes, onions, and guacamole. The salsa is great too. Don't go expecting a gourmet mexican meal and you won't leave disappointed.

    (4)
  • Larry L.

The best handheld Carnitas or Carne Asada burrito around, and at double the flavor for half the price of the big chains, this is a no brainer.

    (4)
  • Chris D.

I go out of my way once a week to treat myself to one of their breakfast burritos. The burritos are awesome - homemade tortilla, large in size, amazing salsa. Truly, the salsa makes the burrito. Without the salsa, the burrito tends to be sort of dry. I've been going here probably for a couple years now. On the last few visits, I have only been getting one salsa container. I have to ask for a second. Hasn't been the case since I've been going the last couple years. If there is a change, let us know. The last visit which prompted me to write this, I got an extra side of attitude. Some new punk kid was there and gave me attitude. I am hoping this is an isolated incident. I'll continue to go but if it happens again, I am done.

    (4)
  • Ash S.

Really not great. Food was kind of gross and I didn't get what I ordered. Upside was it was super cheap! I wont be back.

    (2)
  • Stephen B.

Wow pussies. Complain about the atmosphere more. Its a fast food joint. The burritos are amazing (try the California) and everything's pretty cheap.

    (5)
  • Tracie B.

This place is a bit in need of a facelift but the food is good. The carnitas burrito was a great value at $4.99 ($3.99 + $1.00 for green chile). Moist, but not greasy pork (and lots of it) piled in a large tortilla topped with innocuous green chile sauce and served with overly smooth guacamole. The meat was by far the best part of the meal. (They need to work on their green chile sauce). My hubby's fish taco looked dry and unappetizing and his ham torta was inconsequential. I'd recommend the burrito however I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

    (2)
  • Nate B.

More than anything, it's close to my house. Secondly, the super nachos are outstanding and worth the six bux! Breakfast burritos are great but a bit pricey and lots of potatoes.

    (4)
  • Courtney B.

Such terrible service. We stood at the counter for 5 minutes and no one said a damn thing. They looked at us many times, but no "Hello" or "just a minute" or anything. The food was ok, nothing special...

    (3)
  • Daniel C.

Some of the most worst excuse for Mexican food let alone food period. Their sign even says authentic Mexican food, despite the fact that the employees had Taco Bell on their back counter! First off crunchy Taco Bell looking tacos are never authentic. Second their torta was a mess. If I just brought a handful of guys from a taco stand in LA I'd have the best Mexican food in all of Colorado. Food and place garbage.

  • Ricky S.

Went in and tried this place after driving by it.. Tried 3 items, Bacon, potato, egg, Burrito. Beef and bean burrito and Tamales. Tamales were really dry and missed the spot as far as tamales go. Beef and bean was OK at best. Breakfast Burrito was big as both the burritos were. Just missed being average by about a notch.Place did need some cleaning up in the ordering area and in the dining room.. There are better Mexican food joints in this town.. Saying that, being open 24/7 is a bonus because when you have been at the bars, any food is better then no food.. I give it a D+...

    (2)
  • Amy F.

Drunk Munchies or a Hangover, then this place is alright. Breakfast burritos are cheap, big and pretty darn good. The tortillas make all the difference, I think. They only have Pepsi products-Boooooo!

    (3)
  • Bob L.

The three stars are well deserved. It is not, I repeat, NOT, high quality Mexican food. The best way I could describe it would be, a semi-authentic taco bell. The burritos are too small, there is no salsa bar, and the chips are absolutely atrocious. They came out cold with chopped tomatoes on top. That's really it. I am almost tempted to give it two stars. Seriously, the food is not good. I got tacos one time, and they were as dry as an Afghani desert. ¡Por favor! La lonchera tiene tacos mejores. En serio...

    (3)
  • Ben F.

Viva's breakfast burritos are money! I'm a fan of the machaca, also remember to have them put your salsa inside the burrito. Tasty and cheap, good for late night cravings or a good hangover cure.

    (4)
  • Les G.

Bacon Breakfast Burrito was dry and more potato than anything else. Pssssst Bacon should actually include some bacon! J/S!

  • David C.

This is one of several locations, and I've been to it a few times since it's close to home. Burritos are decent, though the tacos are probably a little better. They have a good mix of meats, though inexplicably they were out of carnitas at 6 pm on a Saturday when I stopped by on the way out for the evening. I enjoy the adobada and carne asada tacos the most, though at some point I'd still like to try that carnitas plate. Their salsa is pretty runny, and I prefer it to be thicker, but other than that it's fine. The food is cheap, and they even have a drive-through if you want to do it that way. They're open late as well if you need some food and want something better than the usual options at that hour. It's nothing outstanding, but it'll do if you need something quick.

    (3)
  • Daniel S.

My favorite local taco joint. Yeah, it looks dirty. Yep, sometimes the drive-through is slow. And no, there isn't much ambiance. But the food is cheap, it's always relatively fast, and it's tasty. Since tacos are 99 cents, always hot and fresh. I eat here a couple times a week, vary what I get, and always spend about six bucks. It keeps me happy.

    (4)
  • Dave B.

2.5 stars and I know that is cheating. We ate lunch here on whim this Sunday and had an OK meal. Tracie's carnitas burrito was tasty and filling. She is having the leftover for breakfast tomorrow. My ham torta was boring. I expected way more flavor. Lack of condiments is a problem. Even Taco Bell has a better selection.

    (2)
  • Megan T.

This place is what you'd expect from a small random place that looks like it may have been an old fast food location- below to average food and decent service. The best thing is the drive through.

    (3)
  • Cassandra F.

I was looking for a great breakfast burrito and found this place. They have a variety of fillings to choose from, and the burritos are really great! It looks like a run down little restaurant, and it'd be easy to pass by, but you should definitely stop to try it out. I've only been through the drive thru, but that's all I usually do for a late night breakfast burrito. I'll definitely be going back there again, and often! Great for a late night meal after a night on the town.

    (4)
  • Emily L.

It's not a place I'd go in to eat but it is around the corner from my house. Not only is it open 24/7 but it's WAY better than the Taco Bell around the corner. They give you tons of salsa and each time it's different (guessing it's made there?). The food is cheap and delicious. My favorite place to go, especially after a night out at the bars! My boyfriend loves it. :)

    (4)
  • Hollie W.

Viva, your an unreliable vegan friend. Although I can't eat here anymore, I would still recommend it to vegetarians :)

    (3)
  • Jeff J.

I am giving this place an A for its breakfast burritos. I have to tell them to hold off on the potatoes or the whole burrito is potatoes. I get egg bacon and cheese, and both sauces are thin, but good. I haven't eating anything else from this place ...so can't say how anything else is.. It doesn't seem like the cleanest place, but most of these mexican dives aren't.. BREAKFAST BURRITOS ARE GREAT (WITH NO POTATOES)

    (4)
  • Blake H.

Simple no frills type of fast Mexican food. I like their carnitas burritos and every taco but the chicken... Make sure you ask what's in the burrito before you order it. That way you know what you're getting. Always use the salsa they give you, it's delicious. The beans are made with real lard, at least they taste like that. Anything you get here is way better than anything you can get at Taco Bell.

    (4)
  • Ben M.

While I can't say that everything here is great (I haven't tried much), I enjoy their Carnita's plate very much! It isn't as good as a sit down restaurant, but for 7 dollars and at three in the morning, their carnitas aren't bad at all. It is a hefty amount of food too and I am a big guy and it fills me up. I have tried something else from them and it wasn't great, so I say just tread the waters cautiously.

  • Alyssa R.

Review is for breakfast burritos as this is my go-to place for breakfast burritos and it is all I have tried on their menu although I want to try more... My habits for breakfast get the best of me. Ok, after reading the reviews I was surprised... This place is fantastic!! For cheap burritos that fill you up it is great! Most of the time I can only eat half of mine and half a snack for later and it is less than $4! Inside isn't up to date but it is spacious and quiet, which is nice. Drive through is fast and this place is just so affordable. I get two breakfast burritos for $7.75 and they come with the best salsa. If you can't ask for the green because they usually come with the red but they both are fantastic with the burrito and a must have. Yes, there is a particular drive through worker who isn't very customer service oriented, but the food is fast and delicious so I can't really complain.

VIVA BURRITO! My husband went and got us breakfast burritos from here last weekend, because unfortunately Santiago's stops serving them at noon. So I figured we'd give this place a try and, I am very picky about my Mexican food, ESPECIALLY my breakfast burritos. I had the sausage, egg, potato, and cheese burrito.. and to say the least.. Their tortillas are homemade which is kind of nice but you can taste the sugar in them, and not anywhere near as good as the tortillas from Taco Rapidos! The burrito was full of potatoes, and didn't have very much sausage or egg, and the potatoes pretty much was the light of my burrito which was very dis-satisfying. I maybe ate 4 bites before I put it down, because it was plain, and nothing to get over the top about. My husband thought they were pretty good so that was ok for me, but I will not be back here. I would rather drive the extra miles to get the best burritos in town at Taco Rapidos! Yumm

  • David B.

There are three rules for having an enjoyable Viva Burrito Experience: 1. Only eat there after 10 at night 2. Only Drive Through and DO NOT EXIT YOUr VEHICLE 3. Order Orchata and avoid any meats whose names you are unfamiliar with.

    (2)
  • Jeff P.

Sloppy in a good way. Not the best, but very good in a comfort food kind of way. Prices are reasonable. I like this stuff a lot better than chain store Mexican fast food like taco bell. Their smothered burritos are great.

    (4)
  • David V.

I have been a loyal viva customer for years now. However, I strictly stay with the breakfast burrito menu. The option C (or chorizo) burrito is great. They are huge, filling, and inexpensive. Make sure to apply the provided salsa inside the burrito. I would stear clear of the other menu items. The nachos are really no bueno. Just stick with breakfast and everything will be alright.

  • Jenn P.

I take my breakfast burrito quite seriously. This is often due to the fact that I am most unfortunately hung over and need to pick my remedy with care and concern for my well being. Such decisions are not to be made lightly. Today however I was hangover free and my friend came rolling by my pad on his Harley early this morning. What was that noise ??? Ummm it COULD have been my hungry tummy rumbling but I tried to play it off as ...well anything. So after admitting we were both starved we ventured out on the bike for a burrito in close proximity to home. Viva Burrito fit the bill. Does this place produce the same caliber of breakfast burrito as Chubby's, my all time, cure it, fix it, no you aren't dying Jenn, place? No it doesn't. Am I still alive after eating here? Yes I am! It wasn't half bad. It was pretty darn A-OK ! Salty comes to mind. But it could have been worse. The bacon was plentiful and the potatoes were yummy. We ordered a B and a C and two medium drinks. The total was just over 10 bucks. It seemed like a fair "ish " price to pay but it was not all fat and perfect like my Chubby burrito. It was good though, really, and I was sober! The place was super clean and that is always a bonus. We have all been to places that cause you to wonder ...should I be eating here? Should I be here after dark? Should I be here at all? I didn't get that oh so scary "Survivor" vibe here, which is good. I was full and have half left. It's waiting for me in the fridge ... my "in case of emergency" burrito. It is almost the weekend after all!

  • Kelsey C.

Love the chips and guacamole here, a big portion of hot chips and a considerable amount of guac topped with a little bit of white cheese for only $3. I'm also a fan of the churros, they are so coated in a cinnamon-sugar and big and HOT, so crispy outside and fluffy inside. The sugar gets everywhere, but that's okay by me. Those get 5 stars I would recommend avoiding the Super Nachos; it gets cold fast, there's not really any cheese, the steak isnt the best quality steak, and in plain it's just...not that good. I had a beef burrito and it was seriously bland shredded beef with onions and bell peppers. That's it! so disappointing. And I mean BLAND, it shouldve been called pot roast. But as a night owl I love that it's open 24 hours

    (3)
  • Jeff V.

I've spent many drunk nights waiting in this drive through and all I can say is that I'm completely over it. If not for the nights of debauchery at bars/clubs, there is no way i'd be caught buying food from here. I've come here sober and the only thing that tastes as good sober as when you're drunk are their dry starchy breakfast burritos. Simply not the best but good for an after bar/club grab. Not the cheapest prices for quality of food but hey it's not the worst either. I'll be back either driving drunk friends or in the passenger seat of a car, drunk myself.

    (2)
  • Jill L.

I give this place 1 star for horrible first experience. I'm a pretty big fan of breakfast burritos ...I ordered the standard breakfast burrito (egg, potato, cheese, bacon and chile) to go, and I was totally let down ! When I took my first bite ... all egg shells ... totally disgusting. I will not be going back to Viva Burrito - no thank you.

  • MoMo M.

We stopped here last night for some after bar food...would have been better off going to taco bell. Carnitas torta, carnitas burrito, 3 rolled tacos w/ guac, 2 carne asada tacos, chips = $20 Do not order the rolled tacos, they taste like the burnt delimex version you find at Sams. The carnitas burrito was literally meat and tortialla, no beans no rice, no salsa. It was weak. They did give us a lot of salsa, but pretty sure we were charged for it. The torta was reasonable but like the burrito, extremely plain, meat, lettuce, maybe a smidge of guac. Why can't el taco be open late!!

    (2)
  • Philip W.

The more I come here the more I like. The carne asada tacos are still my favorite, but the carne asada burrito is great too. The California burrito is a little heavy on the french fries, otherwise it's tasty. The burritos look a little small if you're used to super burritos from taquerias, but they're still filling and probably a lot healthier. Their combination plates with enchiladas are good, so are their beef tacos.

  • Caitlin G.

What can I say? The food is questionable but cheap. The place is not exactly clean but I hear the ceiling used to have a massive leak and that's fixed now, so that's good. J and (some of) his high school friends are devotees to Viva, and I've heard its praises for years. So when I finally tried it, I don't know if I knew just how questionable the experience would be. For $2.75, I got a chorizo breakfast burrito, which was fine but made me feel nervous just eating it. The real serious winning feature of this joint is the horchata--the sweet, wonderful, gigantic horchata. Do NOT miss that.

    (2)
  • Jennifer J.

In two words: good, cheap. This is a little hole-in-the-wall joint with pretty good carne asada burritos and really good fried tacos. If you've never had fried tacos, you are not living life to the fullest. Everything is better when it's fried. The downside: the meat is pretty low quality (i.e. taco bell would look down on them in disdain), and if you don't speak at least "restaurant Spanish" you will have a hard time communicating. Even with the low quality of the ingredients, this place has its own little niche in my heart.

I have been meaning to review this place for a while. Generally, genuine mediocre mexican food. But tonight ordered the beef enchiladas - no lettuce, no onion. I recieved two soggy rolled somethings filled with yucky peppers and onions, one had a small peice of shredded beef in it. Seriously, I have had several thousand enchiladas in my life and never had one with peppers. The reason!?!, its effing horrible! If you want to try something different, by all means, but let me know that it is your idiotic take on it. These would be better advertised as fajitas with crappy sauce. Truth be told, I will hit them back for their breakfast burritos, they are marginal, and they actually use french fries in them, which seems a little ghetto, but 3 minutes as opposed to 20 for Gomez often wins.

Viva Burrito is good, not great. We went there last night and while the lady at the register seemed nice and upbeat, our orders were all messed up. There's usually a different girl there, who is not very friendly...but, at least she always has our order right. I'd rather have a cranky person giving me food as long as I get what I ordered over a friendly girl who just isn't listening. I got the carnitas plate and that was really good; I was full after. My husband always gets the chicken and cheese enchiladas with the green sauce. Their green sauce is so good, very spicy. He always says it reminds him of his moms...which is why he always gets that. This is the only place out here that even comes close to what we're used to back home (in Chicago). The other plus they're open 24 hours and the kitchen seems pretty clean back there. It's our late go-to place.

OK one of the things I miss the most in Denver is the Mexican food if you can not tell! Viva Burrito is as simple as this, want a late night meal and Taco Bell crosses your mind! Say screw Taco Bell and go to Viva Burrito! The best last night snacking in Denver!

I'd say this is one of the best burritos in town. I haven't tried much else, because I stick to the goods when I find them. It's authentic in that yeah you might get a little grizzle with your carne asada, but its so tasty for less than $3.50 a burrito. The breakfast bacon or chorizo burritos are top notch. I used to drive past this place on the way home from boozing downtown and it never disappointed, if I'm in the area I make sure to drive thru, yeah don't go inside it will make you not like it. Oh, and I just found out the have a salsa verde after 4 years and its good, ask for both green and red.

. I went to the drive thru to get a chorizo burrito. I had to repeat my order at least twice. Either they need better equipment or the lady at the drive through needs to listen better. I got up to the front of the line and she wanted to charge me $13 for one burrito. She was actually trying to charge me for 3 burritos and a diet pepsi which I ordered. I got upset and got into an argument. I have been here before and got sick after eating the food. Not sure why I went back. I blamed it on a sensitive stomach. This same employee pulled the same trick one other time and tried to get me to pay for 2 orders of super nachos. This woman is young and very rude and did not try to diffuse the sitution or try to acnowledge her "mistake". I am giving the place 2 stars because I liked the burrito. I will not go back.. I do not like people trying to scam me by making me buy extra burritos. The first time it happened, I thought it was a mistake. They have the attitude that the customer is always wrong! There is mexican food on every corner. I will take my business elsewhere.

I didn't think this place was that bad at all. Yeah the inside isn't that great looking, there was a bullet hole in the window, and they put the food on styrofoam plates and give you plastic utensils. The quality of food at their prices makes up for it though. They really aren't as bad as some of the reviews I've read since I have been to quite a few horrible traditional Mexican restaurants.

This place is actually pretty good! If you can't handle the interior, which isn't super clean - navigate your way through the 4x4 drive-through. The chicken tacos are really good - white meat chicken in a crispy corn taco shell. Carnitas tacos are savory and they are generous with the meat (these are soft flour tacos). I think you can switch up the taco shell type if you ask... Ye, the breakfast burritos are heavy on the potatoes but Viva Burrito is WAY faster than that Santiagos on Leetsdale if you're jonesing for one. Plus, i think you get a free coffee with each order (which i have not dared to try). They've also got 'filled' churro for a incredible sugar-high if you're into that kind of thing. Is it the best place in the world? No. But given that the closest really, really good tacos (Tacos Y Salsa) are on Peoria and Colfax, this'll do for a quick taco-break.

So this place is as sketch as it looks. It is open 24/7 and the food is edible, but the service was terrible and you would think that a chorizo or chicken burrito would have enough of the main ingredient to warrant being called a chorizo or chicken burrito. You would be wrong. Think of all of their burritos as potato burritos with minuscule bits of meat in them and you will not be disappointed.

This place is terrible. I've gone 4 or 5 times now because when given the choice between a large chain(Taco Bell) or a smaller company I always like to go for the little guy. I keep going and I keep hoping that they get better. The employees are rude and the one time I ate in the lobby there was a rotting jalepeno pepper wedged between the wall and the bench where we first sat. It had clearly been there for a couple of weeks and was very visible from standing position(does anyone clean the lobby??) Avoid this place, it's not worth your money.

First of all, what the hell are potatoes doing in any burrito? Second of all, what are they doing in a "normal" burrito for lunch? This place is pretty skanky. The bathroom was a scary mix of permagrime and the smell of disinfectant, reminding me of my youth in Baltimore's public school system (see The Wire, season 4). The burrito was decent for the very low price. But I wouldn't recommend it, either. I would just go find a real burrito, or a Taco Bell (high road, low road, just not this road). Why two stars? The guys here were really nice.

The food is good, yet the place is kinda really bizarre..and I mean that. I saw what I think was a rat on the outside next to the dumpster? I do like the Carnitas Tortas thou...just drive thru and don't look... good food, strange place...

5 stars for being open 24/7 and their Carne Asada Burritos!

the best Mexican fast food , great nachos, tortas and burritos. The meat is well cooked and the guacamole is just like a gourmet made avocado mix. I love the drive thru service and all my family appreciate that.

I work near here, (no I won't say where) and around 3 a.m. I am always so sad that my only food options seem to be McDonald's or diner joints off Colfax. Viva Burrito is an institution. It's one of those places either you love and defend, or hate and slander. No middle ground. The drive through is 24 hrs and the menu is outdated and the intercom sucks. The staff are all sorts of young folk that pretend they don't understand your order. The food is CHEAP GOOD EATS! I mean really cheap! The chicken burrito, the carne asada, the tejuano potato burrito are all awesome. The best part is a watery rip your face-off salsa. Also, even when ordered and requested I have never gotten the free coffee that's clearly advertised on the menu when you order a breakfast burrito. The place is a dive, it's dirty, it's questionable at best for it's sanitary conditions. I love it! None of my coworkers will eat here....but I will defend it to the end. I always mean to go poke around the foreign markets in the strip mall behind the leetsdale location.....looks very intriguing!

Breakfast burritos were solid, totally fast Mexican food. Mmmmmm churizo egg and potato - yum!

is this really the only 24 hour taco shop in town? the food is okay, I mean it does the trick at 1am. the meat and chicken is always dry, has almost no flavor and you have to drowned it in the cheap, but hot, salsa. I think they are obsessed with potatoes, they put them in everything, it seems. maybe you can lead me to a better 24 hour joint.

I do like their burritos. Be prepared to wait a good 10 minutes in the drive though for your meal though. I've thought about turning the car off, that's how long I've waited sometimes. There have been a couple times where the people in charge of the drive through are perhaps busy and talking to each other and messed up my order. I was missing a burrito one time, and I guess they put in a bunch of extra salsas instead of the second burrito. I definitely do appreciate the convenience of this place though. It's in a great location for me too.

So I live right next to Viva Burrito. I am very disappointed about their service. First I order a bacon burrito and there is literally no bacon in it. I am wondering if they are trying to rip everyone off or they just like to put two little pieces of bacon bits every time I go in. The one good thing about the place is the tortillas are amazing. Yesterday I asked for extra bacon and two other burritos. They didn't mark which was which burrito so my friends and I had to open them up and touch each others food which was a little gross to me. Another thing I went to the restroom for number 2 and there was no toilet paper. When I looked around I saw two dirty poop whipped panties on the ground. So disgusting. It seems like most of the employees don't give a shit. I hope the owner sees this and can male some changes.

Huh, I thought I was touching up a review a few years old here with a repeat visit -- but nope, just a blank slate for me. So be it... Viva Burrito's a good place if you're looking for a fairly wide assortment of burritos. It also has other standard offerings in the genre as well: tacos, tostadas, enchiladas, etc. There are a number of burrito style offerings: Carne Asada, Machaca, Chorizo, Beef, Chicken, Carnitas, Fish, Veggie, Tejano, Pollo Asado and so on. I even found 1 offering on the menu here, the "Arizona", which *does not exist for Colorado* -- apparently either these signs get created in a big general location which doesn't specify options for different states, or this store got a sign destined for Arizona -- either way, it's a valid burrito choice -- but *only* in their Arizona locations. I stopped by about 2:45p on a Tuesday so not too challenging a rush to get through: I was the only one in the store, in fact. My server was polite but not overly energized. Fair enough, it was a cloudy Tuesday after a lunch rush. Chatter went back and forth between my order taker and the food preparer in Spanish. Viva Burrito's website is much more useful than the actual ordering board in the restaurant is, so you might want to peruse that first. After going back and forth between 2 choices I picked the Tejano: red chile chicken, sour cream, potato and cheese. 1 more comma would have helped here, because I was expecting chicken marinated in red chile sauce of some sort -- nope. You get the ubiquitous 2 tubs of chile sauce found in most non-chain burrito places. To their credit, it's not salsa -- it's slightly runnier and *does indeed* have red chiles in them: skins and/or seeds were encountered. The burrito itself was lacking: VB seems to be leaning towards the "let's squeeze what we can out of this" by massively upping the potato content and downsizing the meat. That is my only gripe; the tortilla seemed fairly fresh, the cheese and sour cream were definitely present. I might be wrong about this and would have loved to have seen my old review (almost positive there was one) and see how that compared to this visit. I think this place is decent enough and is a staple of the area, with enough followers that it might still be around in another 5 years -- but...lots of delicious places to go for food in Denver. Better pick up your game, Viva Burrito, or you might find your franchise packing it up and leaving. Maybe for Arizona. (touching on that option I mentioned, heh heh) As an aside, I can also 2nd Joe M's recommendation that if you're *really* craving a meat-stuffed burrito where the flesh is delicately grilled and has the perfect flavor of meat and a bit of salt in, head 'cross town and try Tacos Rapidos. I don't often get down there and when I do, I buy in bulk -- it's that good.

Love this place.... So much better than Taco Bell or rusty taco. I always get tacos. The rolled ones are great. I also like carne Asada and the steak and cheese. Reasonably priced and delicious!

  • Bre H.

Love the chicken fajita tacos. You have to be specific with these people otherwise they'll give you a hard shell taco with chicken on it and no Pico lol...who does that? Um taco bell...but I wouldn't expect that from more of an "authentic" mexican spot. They ruined my order too many times so I stopped going. The line is never long but expect to sit in the drive thru for a good 15 mins...yeah they're slow...I think they're open 24hrs so this is another one of those "I'm drunk and hungry" stops on the way home.

    (3)
  • Mark O.

I'm giving these guys five stars only because it's a million times better than tb for late night drunk food. There are better options during sober hours, in fact I wouldn't go here sober.

I didn't encounter any rude service, but the service was quite slow, even though there were only a few people inside. They have "Now Hiring" signs all over the place, so I guess I can understand that they're understaffed... Worth noting that the prices on their web site are wrong, and everything has gotten more expensive - almost $.50 cents more for a breakfast burrito. But, the food isn't good. I got the rolled tacos with guacamole, and while I was certainly not expecting fine dining, everything about them was....well, pretty gross. The tiny little bit of meat was fried to within an inch of its life, to the point that it was actually black. I'm not sure what kind of meat it actually was, to be honest. Grease meat. And, the guac. Well, they're generous enough with it - there was a huge dollop on top of my taquitos, but it's neon green and way too smooth. No taste really to speak of. This stuff came out of some generic jar, it isn't even pretending to be made fresh. The cheese on top was just unmelted, "fake" cheese. The bottle of orange juice I got was great, though! /sarcasm

It's 3 AM, and I'm absolutely furious. This isn't my first time at this establishment, most the time it's actually a very pleasant place to come. But this time around, it was absolutely awful experience. I ordered two burritos as well as one tamale, and an XL horchata.. Because supposedly that's the only cup size they had. But, because this establishment has been so great to me I purchased it. I spent eight dollars to only receive one burrito, A bag full of salsa, and watered down horchata. I called multiple times to receive my money back, because this meal wasn't even for me. And, of course the number didn't work last time I'll come back.

We LOVE this place!! You can always count on viva burrito for a quick delicious meal, any time. Their green chili pork burrito is great, as are all of their breakfast burritos.

Terrible service! Ordered 2 burritos through drive thru but was only given 1. Had to drive back 20min to pickup the missing burrito and the server wouldn't do anything to compensate for the missing burrito. Not did he apologize. Instead, he was terribly rude about the whole situation.

    (1)
  • Al J.

I like the vegetable burrito but the guac is a fake shade of green and has a weird flavor. The chips are bad as well. I have had the tamales in the past and liked them but my last visit they weren't the same. I don't understand why they don't have green chili.

Let me start by saying I'd rather have their steak burrit over a chipotle burrito any day! I've been to Casa Bonita before so I know what good Mexican food tastes like! It's even better that they have a drive thru here too. Always order a churro! Way better than the ones at Costco.

Mediocre at best. Steak chimi was just ok. Rice was poor. Beans from a can. Uninspired guacamole. Weak service. Dirty bathrooms. Overpriced for what it is.

Just moved to the area and a friend said they had good burritos. I tried them and my friend was right! Inexpensive and tasty. I've only used the drive-thru so I can't comment on the service inside but I've been there several times and have been happy each time. It's certainly nothing fancy but if you're looking for a good plain old simple burrito I recommend them!

I waited in drive thru for 25 mins. There was 1 car ahead of me (although he was out within 5 mins). i ordered a breakfast burrito smothered w green chili and onions, tomatoes and lettuce on top and 1 fish taco. when i finally received my order it was just a burrito. clearly not correct. i said thats not correct the lady huffed and l puffed i said really? I just sat here for 20 mins for u to screw up my simple order and and then get snippy. By the way when i got home my order was still messed up and treated horrible and they lost or my fish tacos that i paid for. Never going back

Choices are limited at 2am on a Sun morning. The drive through is open 24/7 and it gets fairly busy with taxi drivers and grave yard workers. Asada and Pollo burritos are around $5 and breakfast burritos are $3 and it wasn't the best burrito that "I have ever had". For what it is, the food is alright for that midnight hunger. If your on the west side, try Tacos Rapidos. Eat like a slobber but always drive sober, or get pulled over.

Horrible service!!! I ordered 12 tacos, 1 hour in advance. I walked in and they act like I was bugging them. I waited 20 minutes for my food. Then another worker came in and they both started talking about drinking and going to court, etc. Just horrible

Not the best Mexican but far better than Taco Bell or other corporate drive-thrus . Try the carne asada fries.

This place is terrible! The pictures on the menu make every menu item look so good. I got a chicken burrito was expecting lettuce, salsa, all the normal toppings for five dollars. The only thing it had and it was a little bit of shredded chicken nothing else...I was so disappointed I called to let them know and they hung up on me. Don't eat here you'll be thoroughly disappointed.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
