Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Patrick, owner (of Gaia, Kaos, too) is a great guy and this place was much anitcipated and needed. Cons: as you've read above 1) WAY TOO NOISY, my god, a few egg cartons on the walls would help 2) Cash only? This would be a fair trade if prices were more reasonable. Yes the ATM is a scam because of the fee. Altho I may use it for cash normally since the fee is only $1. 3) Tiny tacos are a bit pricey for what you get. PROS: Owner and sis -Trish and bartender Louis are delightful (unlike owners/staff at 1472 up the street). Food is decent to good-hoping for a little more spice. They use fresh local ingedients as much as possible (in a cold weather climate) Tequilas and margs are darn good. Atmosphere is fun but small (and NOISY). Its early-heres hoping theyre listening as there will be more choices on S. Pearl soon. Ok, lets call it 3.5 of 5 stars (for their great attitude)

overwhelmed with severe dislike for the cash-only policy; on top of the inconvenience and--granted--small fee, it smacks of insult after the expensive tacos. is there no other way around this--perhaps a debit machine like some other mexican joints that i've patronized have? tab for 2 was over 100$ with tip--tho consider we did try an abundance of items: 2 margs each, 2 apps, and a bunch of tacos. but if i'm going to throw down that kind of cash at a sitting, i'd just FEEL better if you absorbed some of the cost of doing business...and take a credit card (carrying my checkbook everywhere in this day and age is also ridiculous). and, sorry, but i've had much better and more substantial tacos out of trucks on the roadside. and you were out of ceviche (on a sunday). but your margs were tasty, and the apps were good (the corn and salad). i just can't see going back just for the good bits, especially given the chronic lack of hard cash on my person.

Good food (street taco), fun atmosphere, family friendly, but they also have bar seating which makes it a nice place for happy hour. The staff is very friendly and they make you feel very welcome. Prices are ok... A bit high, but it just goes with the area.

Came back this weekend to give this place another chance and had a great time! everything was great.
(5)Kim H.
Delicious! The guacamole is amazing, the pork belly tacos are sinful, and the the carnitas are phenomenal. The location is small so it can fill up quickly at busy times. The staff has been delightful every time we've gone. My only critique is that there aren't any hot adult beverages I've seen- we walk there and since it's winter I'd love a hot drink by the time we get inside. But I guess not many hot drinks would go very well with spicy food, so certainly not a deal breaker... So glad there's a great Mexican food place in the area now!!

After reading unfavorable reviews we decided to still give it a try. I'd like to say we had the chance to try the food for ourselves but the service was so lousy it was pretty much nonexistent. We stood at the front door for a minute or two confused if we were to seat ourselves or not, there's no sign saying what to do. The only visible employee was the bartender so we sat ourselves at the bar. There were only two other customers and the bartender was so intent on hitting on one of them that it took over five minutes for him to give us any attention whatsoever. Finally, he just handed us two pieces of paper to fill our order out and didn't even ask if what we would like to order for a drink. The bartender didn't even care what we wanted to drink !? second strike. My husband began to time how long it took for him to pause his pursuit of the poor girl that couldn't even begin to eat her order as he was constantly grilling her. Finally after over five minutes again we just got up and left. He just looked at us and said " oh, did I take too long"? in very doesn't give a fff tone. Seriously? We live in the immediate area and frequently meet friends for dinner but this is one place we will never revisit.

It was my first time at Uno Mas just today 11/8/13 for lunch. The service was great. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. We ordered two different tacos each. They came out really nicely plated and everything looked so fresh. It was really tasty and I can't wait to go back again. I also loved their skinny margarita. It's a casual and affordable and great fresh food.
(5)Stacey L.
Looking at the reviews so far, I think Uno Mas just had a rough start. My boyfriend and I were there for dinner last night. It was delicious. The happy hour cocktails we had were the most delicious tequila drinks I think I've ever had. The service was good, food excellent and the bill for 2 was only $40 which included appetizers and cocktails. And yes, we got to pay by credit card. We were actually talking about making a Tuesday night dinner ritual there since we live close by.

We tried this restaurant last night and we were really looking forward to having some Mex in the neighborhood. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. The house margarita was below par and the white sangria was not good. We then ordered guacamole which was just okay....way too creamy and I've had better at Chipotle. Tacos were okay, but a little expensive for what we got. We might go back at some point just because we can walk there, but definitely won't be recommending this place.

My husband and I were curious to try this new place since the previous one never attracted us. Tacos were ok - but very small for the price - my biggest complaint is that the small glass of wine was 8 $ ... no happy hour ... and wasn't even good ... We liked the new decor and the changes brought to the place. The hostess and waiter were both friendly. We might give this place another chance ...
(3)Michael R.
Throwing this out there while it's fresh in my mind. Uno Mas was a back up plan for Labor Day and we're glad it worked out! Not the sexiest place, simple but clean inside, but the staff is nice and the back patio provided some relief from the heat. Tacos were great, actually liked them all. Highlights were: Langoustine - was the special of the day, taste fishy/like the sea (in a good way, like a langoustine should) and it was a heaping portion Lengua - perfectly cooked, nice with the corn It was also priced well compared to a couple of other "upscale" taquerias. Would like to go back for a torta.
(4)Dan A.
Pretty good food. The smoked meat is redonkulous!!! Salas' great shrimp taco good prawn taco - fishy city!!! Drinks are poured heavy - a good thing. Bar dudes were super cool. Chips not home made but rocked it. Tortillas - righteous, and prices tough to beat. Carne Asada was ok and I mean just ok. Get anything smoked they smoke it all out back and is darn goodness. Ambiance was fun upbeat good crowd fun for a simple night out date night. Great tequila selections.
(4)Amy T.
Great place for happy hour, a snack, or a meal. Uno Mas' happy hour specials are a steal. The guacamole is delicious, and a full portion is big enough to fill you up. Make sure you save room for the rest of your meal. There are so many different types of tacos to try. The barbacoa, carnitas, and frijoles are my favorites.

Traveling to Denver for the first time, and was recommended this place by a coworker of one of my hosts. There were three of us for dinner, along with a toddler. They were busy, but we were seated quickly, and our drink orders were taken quickly. I had the house margarita which was yummy. The decor was pretty typical, and the atmosphere loud and a little crowded, but not to the point of being uncomfortable. It was "Taco Tuesday", so the menu was largely comprised of a variety of street tacos, along with some appetizers and a couple of other options if tacos weren't your thing. The kids' options were chicken or cheese quesadillas. The menu is done Sushi style (one menu, write a quantity next to the items you want) which was a little awkward when ordering Mexican, for whatever reason. We got the chips and guacamole which was really good. Very heavy on the onions, so if you're not an onion fan, you might not be as thrilled. We ordered a cheese quesadilla for the kiddo and variety of tacos for ourselves. Three each were enough after the app. The tacos came out pretty quickly and were delicious. I got the chorizo, el pastor, and the seafood one (it had a clever name I've since forgotten) with the shrimp and sea scallops which were sizable and perfectly cooked. Curiously, the quesadilla didn't come out with the tacos. The waitress said it would come out shortly...but it didn't. Nor after we were done with our tacos. It became apparent that the quesadilla order didn't get placed. Should have been a quick fix, but it took quite a while for that thing to finally arrive, by which point junior had stuffed so many tortillas in his face, that he only ate about a quarter of it. I helped him out with the rest. To her credit, the waitress totally made it right, comping the tardy quesadilla and giving us free churros which were superb. It was an honest mistake, but one that I feel would never have happened if the restaurant had the wait staff take orders instead of trying to be needlessly trendy. I'm still going to give them four stars, as the food was all superb, and the price was extremely reasonable.

Love the food here but they close surprisingly early(as do most places in Colorado but 8:45?!? Wtf?!? Your supposed to close at 9 on weekdays). I asked the what looks like the manager why they close so early? And she said they just get to slow but I saw a couple people walk in before their actual closing hours just to get turned away. People eat past 8:30 and definitely past 9:00 p.m. Sure your not a "bar" as the manager put it but come one 9 p.m. To close and still close earlier then that. 8:45?!? That's way to early. I was actually eating when this happened I just saw people come in and asked why they got turned away and why the restaurant closed so early but man if you open till only 9 p.m. At least stay open as long as your sign says.... Food is amazing here by the way but the owner could find some new front of the house staff for sure. -edit- also watched bar staff and supposed manager drinking while on clock at 8:57 p.m. 7-7-15

This place is awesome! So, so good. Been here many many times and I always find the service and the food awesome! Their guacamole is pretty good, their hot salsa has a really delicious and unique flavor that I really dig. Of all the street tacos that I has done tried here, the duck tacos are out of this world. The flavor and crisp on the duck is spot on. The shrimp tacos are also delicious! Love Uno Mas!!!!

Great little gem on Pearl! I was lucky enough to swing in here for a drink and bite to eat Monday night and really enjoyed the place. I was a bit surprised that a group of 20 had a reservation that was going to take up a lot of the dining room seating in such a small venue, but was happy to sidle up to the bar to eat. The bartender was slammed when we sat down but acknowledged us right away. She came back and told us their specials for the night and happily gave us suggestions as well. I went with fish tacos and pork tacos. Both came out delicious but I think the fish were just a bit better. The couple next to us had guacamole and it looked fantastic. Wasn't super hungry but will try some next time. Service was quick, food was great, staff was friendly. I'll be back.
(4)Tarena Z.
The space is small but they maximize seating with an adorable (and pretty desirable) patio out back. The food is fresh. The chips came out warn and crisp. The salsas and guacamole were great. I could of had JUST those and been fine. The House margaritas are the perfect amount of strong and tasty! The tacos are all served without sides. It's nice to have a selection of super affordable choices. You can mix and match from a menu of creative choices. The pork belly tacos were super tasty. The fish tacos are made with Mahi Mahi but had too much sauce for me. There is only 1 bathroom and its kept SUPER dark, heads up!

Yum! I'm a huge fan of tacos, especially ala carte tacos so Uno Mas automatically gets points right there for that. My colleague and I stopped in after a work shift and I was stoked to see they had happy hour going on. We sat at the bar, enjoyed a $2 Pacifico and tacos. They had some happy hour specials going on with chips and guacamole but we passed (I think one of the few times in my life where I've passed on guac). I ordered two tacos so I could get some food in my system and went with the portobello mushroom taco along with the porkbelly taco because I cannot resist porkbelly ever! The portobello was good but nothing drool worthy, but the pork belly was what dreams are made of. Topped with a nice portion of avocado and covered in an ancho and coffee rub, it was absolutely delightful. I took small bites so I could enjoy as much of it as possible. For street tacos they're a little pricey ($3-$4.50 each) so if you're looking to gorge, you may want to rethink but then again, all tacos are $3 on Tuesday so this would probably be the day to celebrate and go wild and order the beef tongue taco!
(4)Jen W.
This is the husband's favorite place to grab a marg and taco. They have a great happy hour that we frequent - on the usual rotation: three pupusas for $6, 1/2 order of guac -$3 and drink specials of the day. The pork belly taco is my fav - sometimes it can be a bit dry but most of the time it comes out plump and flavorful. They put out solid food and drinks and the service we get is fantastic. In particular Lucio, Brian and Gabe always make us feel welcome and pay special attention to my husband's dietary needs (red meat and nut allergies). It is wonderful peace of mind not having to worry about cross contamination. Other random thoughts: It can definitely get loud during the busy times but we often go at the beginning or end of HH so it is a more relaxed atmosphere. The tables are close together so you will get to know your neighbors. An outdoor patio offers more space. There is only one bathroom so that can be problematic at times.
(4)Frances G.
The crawfish taco is divine. But the Mexican mule is even more divine. I also like how the tacos are al a carte. You can order a medley of different tacos or just one to satisfy your hankering for soft corn tortilla tacos. The space, though small, is cozy. Not necessarily conducive for large parties or moving around in general. It's narrow and packed with two top tables and a long bar serving up Pacifico on tap. The small space is also not favorable of noise. Let's just say we couldn't hear our convo due to the super loud party nearby. The service was attentive and the salsas were zesty and fresh, however I'm still not sure the price on one taco, two drinks, and a beer warranted the price we paid. Nevertheless, I'd like to return and enjoy that delicious Mexican mule during their happy hour!
(4)Caleb S.
Meh. This places was just ok. Got the chips guac and salsa and the flavors were just not Good. We then ordered 11 tacos 5 different kinds. All the flavors were boring. The only one we liked was the pork belly. I wouldn't go back.
(2)Food E.
I have enjoyed the food each time I come here. The tacos are huge so two is enough but I always manage three. Yeah I am a glutton for tacos. The "al pastor" has a pineapple chili marinade that's delicious on the pork.
(4)Andrea K.
We love tacos! We stopped into this newish taco eatery to have a sampling of their fare. It was on Sunday and Uno Mas hosts HH on Sundays from open (11:30, I think) - 5:00, Woo hoo! I enjoyed a $5 marg that was pretty good and not too sweet. We also took advantage of the discounted guac which was tasty but seemed like it was from the day prior. (A wee bit brown, you see?) We ordered 4 tacos: Pork Belly- this had pretty good flavor and wasn't as dry as it appeared. I'd possibly order this again. Queso Y Frijoles- Hubs enjoyed this one more than I did. We were sharing and I didn't get nearly as much of the queso as I would have liked. Seafood- it had shrimp and scallops and was ok. I wouldn't order it again. The shrimp was overcooked and the flavor combo was off. Roasted Portobello- this was my favorite taco. It kind of had a "pot roast" type of flair to it but I really enjoyed it and would certainly order it again. We tried all of the salsas but didn't care for any of them. The main salsa has lots of oregano and is quite overpowering. The "hot" salsa was my favorite of the 3 but it wasn't very memorable. We like that it's local with a decent happy hour so we may return to try a few other tacos but we're not in a rush.
(3)Sarah G.
Tried a few little plates with chips and guacamole & and a tecate Duck confit awesome A+ Pork belly b+ cause kind of tougher than expected Guacamole A+ though not a fan of the texture the green onion added. The rest was on point and can't really complain. Service was better than expected on a crowded busy night. Love the style with the cool bandana napkins Great visit, will return if in colorado again
(5)Jacqueline F.
Service was amazing even though he was the only server on with over 6 tables. Food was even better! I'd definitely recommend the pork belly and duck tacos.
(5)Allison S.
I will admit, the food and drinks at Uno Mas aren't the best I've had around town, but the ambiance and staff completely make up for that. Love that it's a welcoming, cozy, neighborhood joint where you will see a wide range of people hanging out and enjoying themselves. Don't get me wrong, the tacos and margs can be REALLY yummy, but sometimes (especially when they're busy) a mojito might get a little less attention than it needs or the fish for your taco might be slightly overcooked. Still completely yummy, just not always as good as it can be. Favorite tacos are the carnitas, fish, smoked chicken, and al pastor. The queso y frijoles is good, but spicy, and the seafood taco is sometimes great, sometimes not so much. Another benefit? They deliver. Fast. Like...last time I ordered they apologized that it would take 25 minutes kind of fast. If you haven't been to Uno Mas, I'd definitely suggest you check it out--plan to spend a few hours, enjoy some drinks and eats, and soak it all in!
(4)Steve S.
Have you ever had a craving for tacos and margaritas? Have you ever wanted to sit in a quiet place while consuming beef tongue and other exotic meats? Have you wondered why a review has some many questions in it? Ok, go to Uno Mas and stop reading this review. It is going to be the best taco you've had this week, way better than some other locations (Machete **COUGH**, **COUGH**) and has some of the nicest wait staff to boot. The ordering process is as simple as the eating process. 1. Read the menu. 2. Mark down your selections of tacos, tortas or other items. 3. Hand to wait staff. After all of that, enjoy and come back the next day. You'll want to, I promise.
(4)Alex B.
We stopped by for happy hour on Small Business Saturday (HAPPY HOUR! ON SATURDAY!), and this place was so great! Chips and guac were delicious, and we got to try a beer I hadn't seen on tap anywhere else. We sat at the bar, and the bartenders were super friendly while leaving us to our conversation (best balance ever, right?). I can't wait to go back and try the tacos!
(4)Laura S.
Really good, but the tacos are tiny. So if you're really hungry get several. Chips and salsa come out with three different salsas. Guacamole is good.
(4)Rebecca M.
This is my favorite place to get Tacos in South Denver... I have loved it all :) The carne asada is phenomena & I crave the queso y frijoles taco. I recently tried the pork belly--it was so delicious! A favorite neighborhood spot!
(5)Dustin M.
Worst meal I have had in Denver. I hate to be negative but if you like filling out a paper check list for a menu of how many terrible tacos you want this is the place. Great location but a food truck is better at less than half the price. The trash cans in the bathroom were overflowing with garbage and the food was worse than Taco Bell. Avoid at all costs in my opinion. We are always looking for a new discovery but this one was a dud:(
(1)Adam B.
Best street tacos in Washington Park! There is another place, walking distance from my home, but we much prefer Uno Mas for tacos, margs and salsa!
(5)Troy R.
I have come here about four times since moving into the neighborhood a year ago. If you are in the neighborhood, its iconsistent but can be ok if you don't walk in with expectations. Its not a destination, i.e., don't go out of your way to come here. Tonite will be the last time I visit. Other than the first time, I come in by default like tonite. On a busy night on Pearl Street South, it had the only available seating. I grabbed a seat at the bar. When my chips and salsa were delivered, the server/bartender, from my side of the bar, was too touchy "feely" on my shoulders and back. I don't like that. Then a server had two friends that wanted a seat and not wait. So they relocated me to a less comfortable seat. When another server delivered my tacos, she says with a smile, "I know, really tight quarters, huh." I felt so uncomfortable, I just wanted to leave and did not enjoy anything. I never received water, and was beyond midway thru my meal before I got a napkin and utensils. A previous visit, I complained to the bartender, the owner's wife, the chips were stale and not good. She said "Oh, I know, we didn't heat them up." No apology, new chips, or compensation. The food has been hit or miss. They are a Pinche wanna be. I don't like their salsas. The habanero has too much sugar, the traditional is below ok and has an odd chop to the ingredients that makes it cumbersome, and I simply don't like tomatillo salsa. I tried a torta once. I could have done as well at home. The guacamole is good and a good size. I like the bean and cheese taco (they use a fancier name). A special taco once was lamb, which was excellent. The margaritas are average at best.
(2)Jeremy G.
My boyfriend and I just ate here within the last couple hours and we can not get it out of heads how boring, bland, tasteless and foul the meal was. When I say foul I mean the shrimp and scallop taco smelled like dead fish. Every taco was flavorless and bland. Please buy some salt. The menu descriptions where the most enjoyable part of the experience. After we ate we began to look at some reviews and saw that there are a lot of rave reviews and a small amount of poor ones. (Mind blown) the poor reviews had a copy and paste reply with a generic apology and states that they were surprised the the food lacked quality as they had recently won top honors at TOP TACO (an annual taco competition featuring 40+ local restaurants). I urge you to check out the REAL winners of TOP TACO 2015. diningout.com/denverboul… Why would the management of Uno Mas lie about being top taco when they are clearly the worst. I can get much better tacos for half the price at Taco Mex.
(1)Alice G.
Fantastic Taqeria in Platte Park! THANK YOU THANK YOU for coming to the hood! We have needed some flavor and margaritas in the neighborhood for some time! Honestly, you can go wrong with anything. Order the tacos that speak two you- two or three per person is enough, Decide on a margarita and you are good to go! Tacos are a little upscale and a little gourmet ( duck, anyone?) and priced a litttle high. Seating is tight, crowded, and there is no waiting area... the atmosphere is VERY LOUD. All that said, a great energy, and great food. The back patio is also great, but over run with locals' large dogs, which was a turn off to me.
(5)heather s.
Food was good, service a bit slow at times and margs just ok. Nice small intimate patio out back.
(3)Olivia S.
Close to my house. I like to meet friends here for their great happy hour. HUGE $5 margarita's, good gauc and delicious tacos. We mostly come for the margarita's and location. It is small.
(4)Michael R.
My new favorite Mexican restaurant. Casa Bonita has been dethroned. Ok admittedly, I love Casa Bonita for the ambience. No Mas' tacos are GREAT!!! I tried four different varieties and they were delectable. Get some!!!
(5)Roger G.
I had just a few minutes to stop and eat in this gem of a place. They have quite a few tables and a full bar. But the food was the star for me. I ordered tacos all of different types. First I tried the barbacoa taco. The beef was tender and flavorful and cooked with poblano peppers, delicious. The al pastor was lovely and done with a fresh pineapple salsa. Then I tried the Tacos de lengua which are a favorite of mine. The tongue was tender and flavorful. I had asked the chef for a taste of the torta ahogada sauce (salsa Guadalajara) and it was so wonderfully smoky that I kept dipping the lengua in it. I can't wait to go back and try more. Great find!
(4)Mike G.
Best tacos in Denver. Try the salsas and chorizo.
(5)Brianna B.
Decided to stop in here after taking a walk down Pearl and looking for something affordable and tasty. We decided you can't go wrong with tacos and margaritas. Uno Mas has a great selection of tacos and appetizers. The food is tasty and well rounded. The salsas are all very good as well. They're riding that trendy taco craze right now and off to a good start. Hopefully they can keep that momentum going.
(4)Seth M.
Great food, drinks, and atmosphere. Location on Pearl Street cannot be beat. Prices a bit high for tacos... But top ingredients, creative menu, and strong margs
(4)Kate M.
So the drinks here are strong. And delicious. And did I mention strong? You have to pay for chips, which bummed me out but they brought three different salsas, so all was forgiven. The service was quick and friendly, affordable but not the cheapest. My sangria was out of this world, no complaints about Uno Mas!
(5)Erica G.
Been here twice now - great little spot! The tacos are delicious and expertly crafted and the churros are a great treat. Service was really awesome one time and pretty good the second time. Don't come here with a big group - if there are more than 4 of you, there really isn't room in the dining room for your party.

I was excited to hear that the owners of Gaia had opened a taco spot, so I decided to stop in for lunch with my mom. The atmosphere of this place seems tight, brightly colored, and pretty well-worn. Considering this place hasn't been open very long makes me think they just threw some paint on the walls and called it good without updating any of the worn-down parts that remained from the restaurant that was here before it. Service was dreadfully slow and then vanished after we had eaten. Nothing worse than having to flag someone down for your bill. Food had good flavor but the salsas that came with the chips seemed weird. The "spiciest" one smelled like soy sauce so I didn't even try it. Also, the waiter just set them down in front of us, pointed and said "mild, medium, hot" not "this one has this in it or that" but just no explanation. Great, thanks! Tacos came out all on the same plate like sushi. In fact, the ordering system/menu was just like sushi where you mark your number next to each box. Why in the world do places do this? Sure, it makes sense in sushi land but I really hate the fact that trendy street taco restaurants really seem to think this is a "cool" idea. No, no it's not...give me my own plate! I mean, since it was my mom and all I was at lunch with, it didn't bother me to share off the plate with her, but just the fact of it bothers me. Especially because there were a lot of business lunches happening around us and why would you want to share your plate with a co-worker? That seems so odd to me. The special was shrimp tacos...not my cup of tea. My mom opted for a carnitas taco ($3.5) and I had a veggie taco (also $3.5) consisting of black beans with cheese, I did like my taco so that was a plus and my mom said she liked hers, but sadly the food alone won't do it for me here. Service and atmosphere make up a large chunk as well.

So I gre up eating Mexican food in Colorado, Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and in Southern California...there are a lot of different styles depending on where the cook came from. With that being said, the closest comparison I have locally to this place is Pinche Tacos in Highlands. This place doesn't have quite the ambiance that Pinche does, but some of their food is on par if not better: 1. Homemade salsa and fish tacos are quite delicious 2. Chicken tacos are made an old fashioned way - melt in your mouth yum! and 3. The tab was less than what I remember paying at Pinche Only thing they're missin is the pablano tacos~ ;)
(4)Valery L.
Some happy hour margaritas can be disappointing, but not here!!! As far as the food, it wasn't the greatest in the world, but I'd go back. The tacos were good but there was a lack of variety; the chips & salsas were good and they gave lots of refills.
(4)Ed W.
Group of friends and I dropped by for happy hour at their back porch and VERY pleasantly surprised! Relaxed atmosphere with speedy service and delicious food and drinks at great prices. We ended up getting the guacamole w/ chips, carnitas tacos and some papusas (they're kind of like pancake shaped tamales) - Let me tell you, nobody walked away hungry or unsatisfied at an all-in cost of ~$10 per person. Highly recommended!

This place was a most pleasant surprise. Normally I am eating at the fancier and pricier joints on this section of Pearl St, but my friends took me here and Uno Mas did not disappoint. Firstly, we were able to eat the bar! This is always preferred, especially since you can kinda peek into the kitchen when sitting at the far end opposite the entrance. And get the best look at the selection of beers and liquors. Secondly, the prices are delightfully lower than expected. And finally, the food was surprisingly delicious! I ordered two tacos: pork belly and duck confit. When dining out, normally I would never have had the opportunity to have two of my favorite foods together, but not tonight! Both were scrumptious and highly recommended. We didn't stay long, but there are so many other things I would like to try off that menu! I will be back! I am mad my friends never took me here before!

I was hoping for a Pinche Taco experience closer to our house, but this fell way short. I walked in with my husband and eight-month old, and immediately noticed the wait staff seemed stressed out. We were unceremoniously sat at a table in front which was cramped between the bar and a tiny two-seater table. Horrible first impression: no menus, no offer for a high chair, no offer to be brought water... nada. We just sat there waiting for a pretty long time. We placed our order and the food arrived without too much of a wait. I had to stop our server from running away after she delivered the tacos to ask what was what. She didn't seem too confident in pointing out what we ordered... in fact, I'm fairly certain she got it wrong. After we got our food, we did not see our server again until we asked for the check. No offer for more chips, no offer to bring more drinks... nada. When we got the check, I realized we weren't given the happy hour price for the guacamole, so I brought that to our server's attention. She came back saying that happy hour ended at 6PM, and we sat down at 6:08. (She checked, she said.) We actually arrived before 6, but were not given any attention from the wait staff until about 10 minutes later so... she was right, I guess. All in all, the tacos were small (street taco size) but tasty. The guac was tasty. However, for the price, I expect either higher quality or larger portions. In any case, I expect better service. When I need my next gourmet street taco fix, I'll go to Pinche... and I will enjoy the food and atmosphere so much more.

This place is good! I really enjoy their pork belly, chorizo and their "Catch of the day" tacos. Their chips and salsa are delicious too!!! Although, the service could be a little better. I'm so glad that I moved just three blocks away. I'll be coming here often.

Was there today and was so disappointed. The chips and guac were ok. I ordered a house margarita and it was undrinkable. Worst I've ever had. My wife ordered a similar cocktail and she couldn't drink her's either. Way too bitter - too much lime. They did not charge us for the drinks and did offer another choice but we were pretty much done with our meal by then. We both had the Street Tacos and felt they were uninspired. We had been there about a year ago and enjoyed it. What happened?!

Since we live close by and were in the mood for tacos and margaritas, we decided to try this place. I normally go to Pinche Taco on York, but I figured there could not be that big of a difference...WRONG. Upon our arrival, we chose to sit on their patio. Against the backdrop of their walk-in cooler, the mood was set. Haha. No big deal, just a terrible patio. We ordered two margaritas. Two sips, just to make sure our first sip was real. The margs might have been the worst I ever had. Tasted like minute maid lime concentrate. Instant heartburn and they were just not good. So we pushed them aside and they were never removed from the table. Our server asked us how they were and we replied not good at all. However, being in the industry myself, I do not like to make a big deal. We just simply did not want anything else. Then came the tacos...bland, no seasoning and just all around flat. The only halfway decent food item was the guacamole. Unsatisfied and wishing that we had a slight buzz from a margarita (we didn't get one off two sips). We asked for our bill. The server returned and said that her manager would only allow her to take off one marg and our half order of guacamole. The margs were $8. I paid $8 for a sip. First time I have ever written a review and first time that I have been so dissatisfied that I felt the need to write one. I am shocked that people give this place good reviews. Mark my words, this place will not make it through the winter. Sorry for the harsh review, but the truth and hurts. Oh and with a little bit of effort the staff and energy of the place might have helped our experience, but like the food, everything just fell short of mediocre.

Came in for happy hour and what a happy hour it was! First off, the ambiance is fantastic. Vibrant colors, good music, great art. It draws you in. Sit at the bar. The bartenders are so awesome and friendly and I notice the regulars have developed an awesome rapport...but I immediately felt welcomed too - by both the staff and the people next to me! The folks next to me ordered one taco too many so my intro was a carnitas taco from the lovely woman to my left (mutual gut feeling for kind people I suppose). Their happy hour is excellent. Discounted drinks and food. HOWEVER, even outside of happy hour their beers are actually affordable - $3.50 bottles and they have some delicious options. The food, oh the food! There is no skimping on the tacos. Two corn shells filled. In addition to the carnitas I had al pastor and duck confit. All three were incredible. My friend and I also shared the happy hour pupusas and guac. All in all, it ended up being one taco too many food wise but everything was incredibly tasty. Go here for the great happy hour, tasty foodstuffs, excellent ambiance and fantastic service. Definitely worth it!

This place is wonderful!!! Their tacos are the beat I've had in Denver. It's definitely street tacos, which is awesome... You don't get that authentic feel in Denver very often. I feel like this is why some give a lower review... They just aren't used to the street taco flavour! They are on the pricey side I guess, but I thought my food was worth it. The guac and salsas are also amazing. If you go, trying them is a must. Uno Mas not only has great tacos, but also a good atmosphere, the giant chicken on the wall gives a nice Mexican feel. Their bartender has a talent... Great drinks all around! Be sure to try their more adventurous drinks... You won't regret it!

This is by far the best taco place in Denver! And that's saying a lot. If you're into mostly-authentic-but-slightly-trendy tacos, this is your place. It's in the same style as Pinche Tacos, but just has straight up better food. From the gravy and french fries on the barbacoa tacos to the unique deliciousness of the duck tacos, they don't miss any of the little details that take each taco to the next level. On top of that, it's completely unheard of to find a true farm-to-table restaurant at such reasonable prices. And I'm sure the quality and local freshness factors into why the food is so enjoyable as well. Highly recommended.
(5)Josh F.
I love the simplicity of doing one thing really well. The tacos are creative and very tasty - with a a lot of taste between the different kinds. Service was friendly and the patio sunny and comfortable.

Tried three restaurants on Pearl could not get one to serve us at 3pm Sunday.. Decided to try the little taco joint. Good call. Brian the Bartender and server was friendly and upbeat. We ordered skinny margs which were excellent nice recipe with grapefruit juice Ordered at least 2/3 of the menu taco ... Guacamole was great chips were excellent Tacos were really good too . Shrimp taco was simple but with excellent quality seafood . Pork belly was basically a killer bacon taco - Awesome. Chorizo taco special was great to. Very cool patio that just opened. People complain about kids being there???? Nothing but adults today... I could hang on their deck for hours Fresh, fast, tasty and fun... Will be back!
(4)Emily M.
This place was right down the middle A-Ok. The al pastor taco and chorizo were the table favorites. My friend and I each had 3 tacos - they're small street tacos but packed with flavorful meat and toppings. It was Saturday Happy Hour, so I got the sangria roja - solid tasty sangria. Overall this place boasts of multiple taco combinations and tequila drinks. The chips were served warm, which was a huge plus!
(3)Jayme W.
Uno Mas indeed!! When you are thinking of taking a mid-day break from the cube, the shop or the corner, take yourself on over to Uno Mas... And DEMAND TACOS! This is a rather small place which really adds to its appeal. It is the kind of place you will definitely go on a Saturday, Sunday or right after you tell your boss that you won the lottery and are now at liberty to tell him/her about your fiasco with his/her daughter/son!! The variety of tacos will only sweeten your day no matter what you have gotten yourself in to.., oh, and don't forget $2 Pacifico on happy hour... I'm not sure if anything else I say would encourage you to visit this joint. Be there or be lame... Lame and without tacos!
(5)Wayne C.
Awesome! The house coin margarita is a delicious must. Great street taco's and delicious salsa just wish it was a bigger portion of salsa or maybe bottomless.
(4)Adam H.
The reviews are correct. This place is awesome. We had the shrimp, mahi mahi and carnitas and continuously tried to figure out which one we like the most. All were awesome. The atmosphere is appropriately laid back and the service was warm and welcoming and also appropriately not formal. The drinks menu is as creative as the food. Overall, great experience.
(5)Kris S.
Stopped in to give this place a try. I had the smoked chicken and the tongue which were perfect tons of flavor in the smoked chicken. Can't wait to go back still plenty on the menu to try
(5)Hunter W.
Our waitress was rude & quite clumsy with her attention to detail. We had a large group and like many servers, she assured us that separating the bill at the end would be the easiest way to finalize each tab. That was certainly not the case. Long story short, she didn't split the bill correctly and when we approached her about it, she snapped back at us saying she had done everything correctly (she hadn't but we didn't want to argue with her any longer). She also forgot to charge someone's card who had already left & since we didn't have the card anymore, she held us responsible for that amount. It was just a mess. She was apologetic towards the end but when you make the mistake, the consequences lie on you, not your guests. I understand that large parties can be stressful but if you do your job correctly, you'll be more than compensated for your work. It's just too bad b/c although the food/drinks were good, we were left with a bad taste in our mouths.
(2)Jeanne B.
We literally tripped over Uno Mas last Sunday night and could not believe our good luck. The waitress (married to the cook) was wonderful and the tacos to die for. The menu also had the largest margarita and tequila selection I have ever seen. Except for the fact that we live in California, we would probably be eating there right now. I highly recommend it.
(5)caitlin M.
Mmm Uno Mas is delicious! Sometimes the service can be a little spotty but I don't think they always staff accordingly for how busy it gets. All the people who work there are really nice, even if they don't get to refill your water or get your order in asap. The tacos are super fresh and unique. My favorites are the smoked chicken and grilled shrimp. I think we've tried almost all of them! Go for happy hour and get their yummy, super freak guacamole and margaritas. They have some fun flavors, like pineapple jalapeño and cilantro ginger.
(4)Ashley D.
Shrimp & carne asada tacos were phenom! Great margs! Absolutely LOVED their Pineapple-Jalapeno Margarita and Kale-Passionfruit marg!!! Its owned by the same people at Gaia Bistro and Kaos Pizza, and if you know the neighborhood, that counts for a LOT. Great for a fun light date - its quaint and bright and they have small plates avail for a quick bite. The manager/bartender Luis is a pleasant and friendly conversationalist which makes for an entertaining outing. If you live in the neighborhood you should DEFINITELY try it out! And they do take credit cards.

Ugh, this place is really only worth 1-1/2 stars. Don't bother going unless 1) you really love lime and cilantro, and food that tastes like nothing else; 2) you're not vegetarian; and 3) you enjoy eating in Romper Room. First, everything tastes like lime and cilantro here, regardless of what other ingredients are in the food. I couldn't taste a difference between the guacamole or the portabello mushroom taco. The black bean taco had a little kick to it, on top of the lime and cilantro. Even my sangria tasted like lime (no cilantro, thank goodness). Unfortunately, i also couldn't taste any alcohol. I'm normally a cheap date, but i got no buzz from that sangria. Hubby reports that his house margarita also had little alcohol. And tasted like nothing but lime. Very tart lime. When we got home, we both rushed to brush our teeth, to get rid of all the lime and cilantro! Second, there's not much for a vegetarian to eat. The portabello taco and the black bean taco are it. Although slim pickings, that probably would've been enough, if only they didn't serve them with the meat tacos. All of my vegetarian tacos had meat juices drizzled all over them. The server was kind enough to replace them, but they arrived later. As did the guacamole, which arrived in time for dessert. Third, the place is packed with kids. Our table was the only one with no kids. At first we thought we had accidentally stumbled on one of those fundraisers for a local elementary school, but the server said the restaurant was always crowded with kids. After i saw the food being served to the kids, i think i understood -- the food off the kiddie menu looked way better than the food served to grown-ups. :-\ A lot of other reviewers complained about portion size. I must say, while the portions looked small, they were quite filling. I was full enough after two veggie tacos, and hubby was full after three of his tacos (two meat, one veggie). Unfortunately, the food didn't taste very good, but we were plenty full. For what that's worth ...

It's cramped and cozy and even though the gamecock mural disturbs me, I like the food. When it's elevated, it's taco nirvana. When it's not as good, it's still a good solid taco. The carne asada and fish tacos are my faves.
(4)Joe R.
Amazing tacos and tequila selection. I stopped in yesterday mid-day and left pleasantly satisfied. They also recently added an outdoor patio which is amazing.
(5)Will D.
What a great restaurant. We went here for our 5th trip last night. Inventive taco dishes (everything from smoked chicken to cow tongue to bbq goat to pork belly). Fresh ingredients, impeccable service. And an impressive list of tequila and mezcal to boot. Everything is reasonably priced. The decor is original, bright and fun (love the 10 foot tall rooster mural). And you gotta respect an establishment that can live without a giant flat-screen tv above the bar. I love the simplicity of this place. It really delivers on the things that matter.
(5)Kelly A.
The guac is AMAZING. Came on a Saturday and got the happy hour: full order for $6 & it came with 2 scoops of guac, 3 different (and incredible) salsas, and a big bowl of warm corn chips. The red sangria was also wonderful!!
(5)Jay P.
THEY NOW ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS, so let's get that out of the way. My wife and I went last night had a meal that consisted of 3 tacos each, 1 beer each and we shared the flan for desert...total bill was $35! Not sure what the gripe is with the prices in some of the reviews. The more I go there the more we like it...the tacos are very tasty (I've had the beef, fish and pork) and we love the grilled corn appetizer, one of the best apps I've had. The place can be very noisy when it is filled up as the sound resonates off the walls and ceilings. Seems like it would be really easy to fix...maybe attach some Mexican blankets to the walls or other acoustic treatment. I hope management will solve this problem...our 1st night the dining room and bar room were full and we wanted to stay longer and buy more beers but we couldn't take the noise. Personally, I think the place is a great value and I recommend it.

The cash only thing is a pain in the butt. We hardly ever carry cash, plus it's a cantina. Asking most adults to do simple math after a few too many is quite a game show, but on S Pearl it's just plain mean. There was 4 of us, so we went early (5:30pm), and we got a table in the bar area next to the permanent diner, the ATM machine. It sucks having that there because people are using the machine your entire dinner. ATM charges a dollar by the way. They had a high chair for our 7 month old, that was good. We started with the Denver Beer Co beer special for this place. It was ok, and since they only have two drafts, it was the better of the two. Toward the end of the beer it starts to have a wine cooler taste. If you dislike the 80s don't drink this beer, as you'll be sent back in time. We also got chips and salsa, that they themselves rave about. Chips out of a bag, salsa not hot. We then chicken scratched our order onto their menu, by their choice. The tacos came out and they were served family style. Waitress didn't know what was what. It took the chef coming out to tell us what everything is to finally eat our food. Tacos were great. Pork was very tasty. We also got some kind of hoagie. It was ok. Finally, we ended with tres leches cake. It was nothing exciting. Tab was $100, which I thought was steep ($25/person), but they disagreed and still gave us the check. Waitress kept asking us if she could grab the check and payment. She did this three times in a matter of minutes. This bugs the hell out of me. What happened to waiting until we are done to get paid. Really, this is my biggest pet peeve. Overall, good experience. I would go back every so often. Once the Tavern moves in I may just go there, at least during football season. Good food, and expensive.
(3)Meghan H.
Really love this place. Kicks Comida in the butt and takes Pinche for a ride. They render and smoke ALL of their own meats - the guac is fantastic - the chips are always warm. To think that one would go to a taqueria with someone else (or a group) and not share plates is silly talk - get over yourselves people, and relax! I don't drink margs so I can't speak to that, and Denver Beer Co is NOT my idea of good Denver craft beer, but my Negro Modelo was cold and the lime was plentiful. They just opened a small patio out back and it's a nice change to the small and often packed inside. Check out the al pastor taco (yummity yum - but you best like pineapple on your taco!) and the carnitas. Excellent flavor, really delicious. Never had bad service here, but I don't go to restaurants of this size at peak hours, either.
(4)JJ N.
Uno Mas has the typical crazy Cantina colors and corny decor. It is a small place and gets packed. Typically it can be extremely hard to find a seat at the bar or a table. The tacos are great though. Love the brisket and pork. If they are really busy I hope you aren't in any type of rush to eat. It may take a while. In my experience there is a manager there that doesn't help pick up the slack so to speak.
(4)Vic M.
Great tacos and sandwiches. Small place with not the greatest atmosphere however the food and service were excellent. We'll come here again.
(4)Katherine S.
OBSESSED! I am gluten and dairy free, but eating here is so so easy. I have taken tons of friends here and they all feel the same way. Don't get too exciting on the drinks though. The house Margarita or the sangria are a good choice as well as their beer. Whatever you do, do not pass up the chips and salsa.
(5)Kat S.
Whoa, this place is awesome. The bar was a bit too loud but the food was amazing. From the margs to the chips and guac, to my tacos... I couldn't get enough. The barbacoa taco was hands down the best, as was the shrimp. My least favorite of the three, though still very delicious, was the mahi mahi taco. I can't wait to go back!
(5)Nicole F.
We've been here several times and I just have nothing but great things to say about it. Husband and I live right down the road and it's a great place to come by for a drink and good food. Great street tacos - we have loved every one we've tried (smoked chicken and chorizo are our favorites) - and their salsa trio is awesome. I'm a harsh guac critic and theirs is really quite good as well. Great drinks (especially the mojitos!), fun atmosphere, good food....definitely a local favorite of mine.
(5)Corinne T.
These are the best tacos in Denver!! The guac is ridiculously good. For tacos, our server recommended his favorite which is just the simple bean and cheese taco. I am so glad I trusted him because it was so good I ate the whole thing without putting it down once. From the great atmosphere to the high quality of food, this place is an amazing new addition to Pearl Street.
(5)Akin P.
delicious! favorite tacos were the fish, chicken, and even tongue! the tacos are all unique and so tasty, lots of time put into each one and lots of attention to detail. the medium salsa is to die for, could have bought a gallon of it and the guac is really fresh! Also ordered a torta sandwich, not the biggest bread fan and it definitely has a lot of bread to it. The service here was great, you can tell everyone is passionate about it and together create a small family. Wish there was some music playing. Also wish there were salad options!
(4)J A A.
Sat at the bar - service was good, bartender really cool and food tasty Good to have them over in that neighborhood - before sushi den owner buys the whole freakin block
(3)Johnny U.
Patrick did it again! I was skeptical that a man who opened Kaos, and Gaia could succeed with a Mexican restaurant. I'm happy I was wrong. This does prove that heart and soul can make anything succeed. Pearl Street had longed for Mexican food. Small place, small tacos, but huge flavor. Priced a bit high for a la carte, but it's Pearl Street. What what once a blue collar neighborhood is now very white collar. It's good and bad at the same time. You're not going to get the cheesy Tex Mex here. Simple small street tacos. The quac is very good as well. Nice spices. Haven't tried the chips and salsa yet. Looking forward to going back. Grab the local newspaper. " the profile" has coupons periodically for $8 off $32. Now were talking!! Hey Patrick, buy that old garage down the block and put in old style Italian. I'll never leave the neighborhood.
(4)Zach P.
I can't believe there is finally an authentic Mexican restaurant in Wash Park!!!! And they deliver. I have been there several times since they have been open and I think the food tastes wonderful. The staff has always been kind to me and, overall, has always been a great experience. I will always brag about this place!!!
(5)Carmen V.
The ambiance is off the charts - now granted that is for a cantina feel which is what this restaurant is all about. It's full of life and friendly locals. The owner Patrick is oftentimes popping in to check on things and will check in personally on your enjoyment of his establishment and your meal. My husband and I love to come for a happy hour margarita and some guacamole, which are both out of this world delicious or a weekend afternoon taco, posole (my personal fav) or torta(which have a wonderfully light fresh bread- changed my opinion about tortas forever...tasty).
(5)Casey S.
THEY NOW ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS! My boycott is over. I'll be walking over or having tacos delivered soon and will write a complete review!
(4)Mark G.
Great tacos, good happy hour deals, nice interior. It's the best upscale mexican we've had in Denver. The black bean-queso tacos and the guac both have been too salty both times we've been there. They use different fishes in the fish tacos, and last time I was there it was some kind that I'd never heard of and they were incredible. This time, they were Mahi Mahi and merely good. But this is a nice place and better in our neighborhood then Adelitas, with less of a bar-vibe (aside: what is it with most Denver restaurants and their bars? It seems like every restaurant in town has a 50-50 bar/restaurant split. I thought Coloradans were sporty and healthy, but I'm starting to think they all are developing cirrhosis). Anyhow, try Uno Mas.
(4)Tiffany B.
Delicious! Had the duck tacos, pork belly tacos, tongue, and bean tacos. All were delicious. Took a little bit to come out, but we enjoyed the mojitos. Friendly bartender, too!

Taco flavored misses! We eagerly anticipated the arrival of yummy, fresh street tacos on South Pearl Street, dreaming of regular visits from our nearby home. We frequent sister eatery Gaia and appreciate the fresh local ingredients, commitment to ethical farming practices, and of course, delicious food. We noticed the so-so reviews and criticism that Uno Mas only accepts cash (thanks for the heads up, yelpers). However, already committed to our new relationship with Uno Mas, we had all but written the 5 star review to counteract the nay-sayers. With cash in hand, we headed over to eat, enjoy, and fight for our adored street taco vendor. Perhaps we were a bit premature. By far the biggest deterrent is the lack of noise mitigation. This place is over the top noisy and not in that fun kind of way. It is excruciatingly painful-to-the-ears noisy. Please Uno Mas, you need professional help! As already noted, the taco fillings are skimpy. At the $4 price point, it puts a lot of pressure on those little tacos to deliver flavor and punch. The filling to tortilla ratio sadly does a disservice to the quality ingredients and makes the fillings taste more bland than they deserve. A bit more generosity in the fillings and bumping up the flavors will go a long, long way. Our server was friendly, helpful, and timely. We enjoyed our drinks, especially a tangy little number with grapefruit juice. We love Gaia way too much to give up on Uno Mas. We'll go back and hope for less noise, more flavor, and an updated 5 star rating soon. Bring earplugs, though, just in case.
(3)Alix W.
Love, love, love this place. Their street tacos are amazing - wait until you hear the specials before ordering. The duck taco is amazing, and if the langostino is on the specials, don't pass it up.
(5)Damian H.
Great street tacos with complex flavors, not too expensive.
(4)Evan L.
The good: Tacos were solid. A variety of options and good flavor. Carnitas and smoked chicken were the highlights. Not as good as Pinche, but pretty good nevertheless. The bad: Cash only. Look, I'm sure restaurants have their reasons for this, but it's 2013 and we don't all carry cash at all times. Yes, they have an ATM but, unless there's no fee, that's not a viable alternative. Cash only is a serious inconvenience and it's a reason for me to not go back to a place. The ugly: The space is incredibly loud. It was less than half full on Sunday afternoon and I still had to yell for my wife to hear me across the table. Making matters worse was the juicer they have for cocktails. The machine sounds like a combination of a power drill and nails on the chalkboard, turned up to 11. Ruined the meal, as the bartender was using it non-stop. They need to invest in a quieter juicer. I'll be back to give it another try, but the first impression was just ok.

My boyfriend, roommate, and myself were looking for a place to eat. Our roommate is new to Denver, so we like to show him new places (especially good places for dates). We were trying to decide where to eat while walking down Pearl, and almost ate somewhere else...thank god we changed our minds. We started with the chips and salsa and a round of margaritas. I loved that there were 3 different salsas. All were really good with the perfect amount of spice. The margaritas were strong, and super delicious! Then came the tacos. Oh man...we had no idea what we were in store for! We each got one of the goat tacos, the boys got carne asada (my friend got 2), my friend and I got the brisket taco, I got the portobello taco, and the boyfriend got the shrimp and duck tacos. We were floored! Each bite seemed to be better than the next. Not a complaint about any of them. When the waitress first brought the food, she explained which was which. We couldn't remember which was which, so she came back and told us again. Everything about our experience was on point. We're still raving about it, and figuring out when we go back! As far as the cash and check only policy, it makes sense because it's a new restaurant (our waitress said they've been there 2 months, so far), and those merchant servicing fees can get crazy, and $1 for ATM fees is very reasonable...they even provide the ATM! So, be aware of the payment policy, but don't let it sway your decision...you will be missing out!

No Mas! Last night was my second try at Uno Mas, and again I wasn't very impressed. The food isn't all that great. We ordered two tacos each - a fish taco, and the black bean taco. The fish was overcooked and dry, and was a tiny piece. For 4 bucks, the portion should be a little bit larger The black bean taco was better, though still small. I used both limes and hot sauce on that taco to try and squeeze a little more flavor out of it, but it was decent. My girlfriend had a fish taco and a pork taco. She said the pork was good, but she agreed the fish was overcooked and dry. We also split a mushroom torta that was pretty tasty. So, overall mixed reviews on the food. What was annoying was that she found a hair in one of her tacos. What was really strange was how the waiter handled it. She mentioned it to him when he came by and he picked up the hair and took it with him, but left the plate and taco she didn't want to finish. No apology and really he didn't say much about it. Just walked away with the hair. What he did with it I have no idea. Aside from being somewhat inattentive, the waiter was really nice, just seemed like he was a rookie and had not much of an idea on how to handle situations when a customer finds hair in their food. When he did come back he still didn't say a word about it. I asked him if he was planning on bringing her another taco, and he responded that he was. Another taco was soon delivered but of a different type which was fine. Uno Mas isn't terrible, but it still seems that have some kinks to work out.

Like many of the reviewers on this site, we were looking forward to "street tacos" in our neighborhood, but were disappointed at the price of the tacos. Four of us went to dinner and each had a margarita and the bill was over $100. Now, I will spend $100 on dinner many times, but not for the amount and type of food I was eating. While the quality was very good and the tacos were tasty, it was hard to justify $4-$5 a taco when I have my favorite place on Federal that I can get much better handmade tacos for $1.50 each. I understand the rent rates are higher on Pearl, but I felt we paid way too much. Will eat there occasionally, but not often.
