I must get two things out of the way before I write the detailed review of this place. #1 The people who have given this place less than 5 stars are out of the their minds and clearly have their heads---well....use your imagination. #2 I hate it when I find an amazing place and feel the need to tell everyone about it because that means people will KNOW about it and it won't be my special place anymore...in fact, that means there will be a wait for me to get in and I'll get annoyed with that... Ok, those two things being said. I live in the close vicinity to this restaurant and had no idea it was there---I probably passed by it on a weekly basis since they opened in October 2013 and had no clue they were there until I read a Facebook local neighborhood group posting where someone asked where good places to go for brunch were in the 'hood. I'd never heard of it and decided I MUST go there especially it being so close. [So marketing people for this restaurant---step it up---and then open another location so people will go there instead of this place because, like I said, once people know about this place, it will no longer remain easy for me to get in---you have a great logo and your printed collateral are great (I'm a Graphic Designer, so I was very pleased with your presentation visually---NiCE JOB)] We decided to try the place for today's Sunday Brunch. WOW! What a great menu! I'm always worried that you go to a new place and worry about portion sizes--they were perfect. Not too little, not too much, just right. I had the breakfast tacos. DELISH. My son and husband had the Breakfast burrito and loved theirs. My mother in law had a basic egg breakfast. She and the rest of us were THRILLED with the 'hashbrowns"/"thin fries...they were great and different. Perfectly cooked. I ordered a basket of the breakfast breads for the table to share and they were GREAT. Presentation of the food was beautiful and creative. Customer service was great... The prices were wonderful...not too pricey like new, trendy places tend to be. The atmosphere---very hip and current---reds and blacks (my favorite colors). I approached the manager to ask if they would be interested in doing a fundraising night for my son's school---so they could get people to know about them and help market their restaurant. They said they were wanting to do this and were thrilled at the prospect. Negative: My only two negative comments would be: #1 I would have liked the server to explain the Mimosas that they offer better. I read it on the menu and I thought I got it, but then when mine came, it was smaller than what I saw other people drinking so I think she could have made more suggestions and explained that better--or at all---she didn't. #2 I was disappointed that my green chili that came with my breakfast tacos wasn't PORK green chili....I'm always disappointed in Denver when I get a green chill that doesn't have pork in it. PLEASE ADD PORK TO IT! We will definitely be back----and I have already shared my experience over on Nextdoor.com ---a private social networking site for neighborhoods---so people on that site from all the neighborhoods surrounding this restaurant (Montbello, Northfield, Parkview, Stapleton, Green Valley Ranch, Park Hill, etc.) will now be clued into this place... And unfortunately for me, fortunately for the restaurant, there will be a line for me to be able to get into the place---I really should learn to keep my mouth shut... If it gets this way, PLEASE TAKE RESERVATIONS so I can still be a patron here. FIVE STARS, PEOPLE!

WTH. Wow, an awful experience. So a week night with not a soul in the place and we had a horrible experience. The service and food were so slow and it was mediocre at best. What really was annoying was the fact that the waitress didn't have any clue what beers they had and then when I asked about wines I was told the brand of the house wine...no further detail such as the type, I.e. cabernet. After further prompting she came up with a couple but never brought drink menus or mentioned prices. I was really annoyed to see my bill later on and see my non descript wine was $15. We will not ever go back and I will be letting neighbors and friends know.

This place was fantastic. The service was very good, the people were real and on top of our needs. The food was super tasty. We got Sliders, and Ribs. The ribs were the best, the sliders were also good. More people need to eat here. Good beer selection, the only complaint is nothing on tap.

Went for brunch after a procedure at the UC hospital based on the Yelp rating. Was not impressed. The server had little to no knowledge of their beers, and no beer list was offered. After ordering a bottled beer, I then had to ask for a glass. My partner got the mango mimosa, which was probably the highlight of the meal. I ordered the breakfast burrito, and my partner the pork belly Benedict. Both portions were smaller than expected from the price. And both came with what the restaurant calls hashbrowns, but crispy potato shavings are a casserole topping, not a breakfast side. The burrito was pretty tasteless on the whole. The best thing about it was the melted cheese on top. The pork belly was WAY overcooked. And the hollandaise was the quality of some kind of powdered mix. In addition, we had to ask for silverware when our plates were brought. On the whole, this meal provided sustenance and did not make us sick. But it was nothing to seek out, and we will not be back.

They the GREEN salad if you want a healthy dose of nutrition! This place has high quality food! Service is a bit slow, but the staff is super friendly!

Hidden gem in Denver! Six friends and I were on our way back from Nebraska to California and were looking for breakfast, I am so glad to have stumbled on this place. The prices were more than fair ($5-$8), there were so many tasty menu items I wanted but chose the steak and cilantro empanadas rancheros and was thoroughly delighted. To my surprise they served Starbucks coffee but I decided on a trio of bloody Marys (classis, bbq garlic, and habanero) which I would highly recommend. The servers were very friendly and the decor made me feel like I was dining at a much more expensive restaurant. I cannot wait to visit Denver so I can treat myself to a wonderful dining experience again and again.

Decided to try something new for breakfast this morning and head to an area of town I don't usually frequent. The 4-star Yelp rating seemed promising. The restaurant seemed to really be the only restaurant in a largely industrial, office area. Michael was my server - he did a nice job. I was initially disappointed because there are very few gluten-free options outside of the omelettes - thankful that I'm not celiac, but try to steer away from it when I can. Ordered the traditional Bloody Mary - which was very good, but wished I had tried one of their specialty bloodies. I ordered breakfast tacos and was disappointed that I didn't catch they were served in flour tortillas not corn. Chicken, eggs & green chili - I found them to be incredibly bland. The green chili had less green chilis and more tomatoes. Very pricey for a disappointment. I can't think of a reason why I would return.

I am pretty surprised by the bad reviews.. we had such a great experience! We live in Stapleton and there aren't a ton of options, so we were really excited to try this place. My boyfriend and I went for brunch on a Sunday and were really pleased. We had excellent service and the food was good, too. My boyfriend had the empanadas racheros and they were particularly good! There are a ton of coupons out there on the web, so if you're unsure about it- give it a shot! We will certainly be back.

This was our first time here and we came for brunch. We had the French Toast (yummy), the breakfast burger ( out of this world) and the Steak Ranchero Empanados ( very good except for the green chili). Everything was excellent except the green chili. Needs more heat and substance. Our server Austin was awesome and the music kept us singing and moving! We also had a 50% off coupon and a free beer for checking in on Yelp. Great experience and we will definitely be back soon!

This place may be OK for breakfast or lunch, but our experience at dinner was poor. We had dinner salads which had wilted greens and ordinary dressing. Service was slow because there was only one waitress for the entire restaurant. Will not be going back.

Wow! What a great place. We had a Goupon so we gave this restaurant a try. It is just off I70 on Havana. Very easy to get to. When you arrive you are greeted with a smile and the service is exceptional throughout your visit. The restaurant opened in October so everything is nice and clean and shiny. The menu is wonderful offering a good verity. I highly recommend the coconut shrimp as an appetizer. They are large, fresh and cooked to perfection. The fish tacos as a main course are outstanding. The burgers are a good choice as well. Give this place a try. You will enjoy it.

I have been to The Grubbery several times for breakfast. Every time, the staff is cheerful and attentive. I get an omelet which is always tasty and very big (more than enough food). The location is family friendly and really pleasant decor. I will continue to eat here once or twice a week!

  • Amanda H.

We have been here several times now. Brunch on the patio is our favorite. The drinks are fantastic, food is cooked perfectly with quality ingredients, and the service is above par. I highly recommend and can't wait for the day we have to wait to sit. Stapleton people, this is such a great close option. Try it!

I went to this restaurant for my lunch break. Service was not very good. Menu selections were limited. I got the wrong food even though the waitress asked me what I wanted twice. Good place to go if you work in the area for after work drinks and you like cheese and bread. I would only go back to this place because of the lack of other options in the area.

Good food. Quick for a pickup. The whole family liked the flat bred. I had a good burger. The wife's sandwich was tasty she said. I'll order out again. Great prices for how much good food you get.

I'm writing this at the beginning of my third visit. The first time finding this place was a treat. The second time, I brought my family. This time, it just seemed right! The portions are enough to leave a hungry guy like me satisfied. The atmosphere is relaxed. The food is a step above your average diner, and it's very clean. Also, they have an awesome beer selection! Overall this is a great place to go if you want a cool little diner without the wait of places like Snooze or Jelly.

Grubbery? More like flubbery ! Three strikes and you're out baby. Messed up my omelet twice - once with wrong ingredients second time by not cooking it. Waffle and chicken ? Cold waffle and overly hot wings. Seems like you don't know how to cook things in proper order Other items clearly had beer under the heat lamps too long .... Ya Know because the cheese on top of the omelet was browned. If not for our waiter it would've been a complete bust. The wait stuff was very good. Sorry Grubbery but get your act together ! You are the weakest link. Goodbye.

Used a groupon, but didn't end up saving much money. Still glad I found this place. Mac N cheese bites were awesome. Great selection of craft brews - none on tap tho :(

Loved it! Came here for an afternoon brunch and it was great. Good atmosphere, and no wait at all, which is huge for brunch. Had a good comfortable feel with some character. Really nice to have a non-chain option near stapleton. Very nice staff. Food was good. Got the basic breakfast, wife got biscuits and gravy. Everything was done well. Homefries were crispy strands (much more like a fry than a potato) which I love, but may not be for everyone. Sandwiches looked good, would like to try next time. And the total came to $14! We'll be back!

Excellent restaurant with attentive service. We had breakfast there twice on our recent trip to Denver. The food is made to order and is very good. I really enjoyed the Biscuits and Heavy, and my wife liked her Mediterranean Omelet (which was nicely prepared with herbs, a bonus).

    (5)
  • Heather B.

Stopped in for lunch one day to try out something new. Servers were nice but slow and not attentive. Tuna burger was small and overcooked as was the quarterpounder...which was more like a tiny burger on a big bun. Unfortunately, we won't give it a second shot.

Mmmm- gravy fries! Super nice service and very close to our house in Stapleton- we'll be back for sure!

  • Anna J.

Super tasty! I ordered the Mediterranean omelette (I asked them to make it with 2 eggs instead of three) and it was the perfect amount of fillings and cooked perfectly. The hash browns are entirely different than anywhere else and worth getting. Hubby had the breakfast empanadas and I was a little sad I didn't get those they were so good! They offer Starbucks coffee, but the drip was perfect- no need for "Fourbucks" there.

Tried this place while visiting Denver. Bought a Groupon in advance. Food was pretty good. We had the gravy fries and burger. The gravy was a but salty but still good. The burger was ok. Service very good. Out of towners - if you are staying downtown this is a pretty expensive cab ride.

Brunch was very good. Their hash browns are very good everyone liked them. Our kids really enjoyed their meals. My husband got the chicken fried steak the gravy was delicious. I had the steak and eggs the steak was cooked correctly and could have had a little more seasoning it was a little bland. The mimosas and blood marys rounded out the meal well. We will be back for sure!

So nice to have something North of I70 that isn't in the middle of busy, busy Northfield - and isn't a chain! Easy access from Stapleton and especially from Conservatory Green in Stapleton. Nice atmosphere, good service and good food. Happy Hour from 4-7. Kid friendly, but also full bar service. We started with the coconut shrimp, which was very good. I had the portobello sandwich with a great goat cheese spread. My husband had the Cuban burger, which is a meat lover's dream. They are new and seem eager to create an atmosphere for regular clientele. Give them a try.

Nice surprise in an odd area. It's a quick drive from Stapleton. The food was surprisingly solid (I only say 'surprisingly' because the place has a chain-y vibe so my expectations were such.) Our waitress, Abby, was very attentive, but didn't badger us even-though we had to wait for an hour for our friends to arrive. She was very nice, too. They have 2for1 happy hour from 4-7 which is a rare find in Denver anymore. We're going to put it on our list of bike-to joints this summer.

Tried The Grubbery for lunch last week. It did not disappoint. I had the special, a wrap with chicken and greens with a blackberry sauce and fries. Delicious! Where else can you find a lunch special that is less expensive than the menu average? Loved it. Staff was wonderful. Water glass kept full with a smile. We will return!

Good stuff. Nice wait staff and good food. The wings were tasty, the ribs were very good. My son and I went back two days later for lunch and the burger was good. I had a $3 bloody mary which was very tasty.

We found The Grubbery ahead of flying out of Denver. I started with a Bloody Mary. It was yummy. The waitress recommended Cream Brûlée French Toast. It was the best French toast I've ever had. I was shocked at how reasonable the menu was. The restaurant is new and tastefully decorated. We will be back! Oh, I almost forgot. They have Starbucks coffee and Tazo tea. Now I'm hungry!

Kind of a strange location, but the decor works whether you are stopping in for lunch or a family dinner or a casual night out. The service is excellent and engaged and the food is surprisingly very good. I had the Kobe sliders and the only detraction were the standard buns. If they put them on ciabatta or sourdough they would be incredible!

3rd time here and every time service and food have declined from the first. This will be my last visit. I notice every time I'm here that it never seems to be that busy, yet servers disappear - somewhere. First time, brunch was great, service was great. 2nd time for happy hour - service severely lacked, even though there appeared to be two taking care of us. We would wait and wait for food, then when a server finally came back they would have no idea that we ordered anything from the other server. This happened at least 3 times resulting in every annoying delays on drinks and food throughout the night. We were also told next time we come back to not sit in a certain area because they sometimes close it off later in the night and forget about people - even though it was in eyeshot of the bar and pretty much anyone working here. It's not like tables are hidden with the layout they have here. Interesting.... Anyways, last straw today was the brunch - translucent gravy and dry, pre-packaged(?)biscuits & gravy and a BYO omelet that literally had a slightly-melted slice of cheese on top - which constituted the amount of cheese in/on the whole thing. On the bright side, their breakfast potatoes, ranch, fruit and wings are great! Not enough for me to come back though.

I work in this building and I have tried the restaurant three times. I worked in restaurants for +20 years and had never seen such a hot mess as this. The first complaint are the prices. $10.00 for a salad with chicken is dumb. My first order was the Reuben sandwich. Very dry. Not enough 1000 island and the meat was dry and flaky. The second was a breakfast burrito. It was a cold tortilla with scrambled eggs and non melted cheese, and I believe tomato. Essentially it was a cold egg wrap with a side of bland salsa. My third attempt was the Mac and Cheese topped with grilled chicken. I took this to go. I got back to my office and discovered the menu item that pushed me into outright WTF? I opened the to go box and discovered a watery orange mess. I believe the cheese sauce was thrown onto a bunch of pasta that was not drained and the chicken thrown on top. The last straw was going down to order a soda to go. The bartender had no to go cups, left the bar to get them and returned with ONE cup. Not only did he show up with only one to go cup, but his finger was on the inside of the cup. Gross. Why wouldn't the bar be stocked and why would a bartender only grab one with his fingers on the inside of the cup?! Why wasn't the bar stocked during the lunch hour. Does this restaurant have recipes they go by with a manager to QC it? If they were smart they would convert this place into a cafeteria style restaurant, and bring in a true kitchen manager. and chef.

Very friendly service, good beer selection, and surprisingly good food, which I mean is much better than most bar food. Happy hour until 7 is another huge plus! You can take your family here or we just sat at the bar and ate, either way, we'll be back!

Our Company was so happy to finally have another restaurant near us that would deliver. We have ordered it quite a few times and been disappointed every time. :( Their service is GREAT very fast delivery but the food is another story. Every sandwich i have had there is smothered by huge buns with little meat and the bread is usually on the chewy side. The french fries looked like they were going to be awesome but they tasted like they had been sitting in the window all afternoon. We gave them a few shots to get it right but they have fell short every time. If you have never tried it at least give it a shot once and see for your self!

The place looked neat and the waitress was really nice, but the food was terrible! We had the coconut shrimp appetizer and got 5 small shrimp...although pretty tasty 10.00 was pretty steep. We also ordered a pork belly slider and one of the pizzas under the happy hour menu. The pork belly slider looked like a slice of chinese sausage in between a sorry looking bread roll. LOL The $3 pizza for the value was not bad, but the chicken on top of it was dry. For entrees, we ordered the country fried steak and the Jalapeño popper burger. Country fried steak was okay, the mashed potatoes better. But my jalapeño burger had a dry, stale wheat bun that was hard to bite through, and the 1/2 lb patty was two 1/4lb pattys together. Not very juicy, not much flavor. I was just happy I didn't pay full price for the meal because we had a groupon. Was really hoping this place was as good as the other reviewers said, but I was sadly disappointed.

This has been a regular after-work stop for us, for over six months. When we started coming here they had really good happy hour specials, and then a change of ownership happened. Most of the specials went away, but they still have 2-for-1 beers and half-price appetizers. The main reason that keeps us coming back is the phenomenal service we always get from Sarah. It is top notch!!

Wasn't sure what to expect from this place but I was surprised to find that it was exactly like any generic chain restaurant available. The food was fine - uninspired and bland. But it was cheap, convenient, and fast. The service was quick and attentive. There is a ton of parking and it's on the way to the airport. Nothing special but nothing wrong with it either.

This place was ok..but I was hungry as shit.. ordered nachos and blt .. bly was good, nachos newded more toppings (s our cream, tomatoes, etc) the potato wedges were gawd awful... cold, nasty spice on them, and chewy.. service was good

I would say that their Sunday Brunch is not worth $25/person. I'm glad they had a special that was 2 for 1. They don't have a drink menu. The omelet guy was slow and looked like he hated his job. Service was mediocre. Restaurant is clean with many muted TVs. Prices are average. Location is out of the way.

  • Anna Z.

This place was kinda in the middle of nowhere but the portions were great, service was speedy and attentive, and food quality was pretty darn yums. I would come back! They also serve Starbucks in here which is a plus. We ordered pancakes which were fluffy, not snooze standard but pretty good and they were huge! And it comes with this cute side of fruits. I got the denver omelet which was ginormous and flavorful. They serve the ketchup to you in these cute little silver containers which I really liked. My friend got the basic breakfast which was only $5 and it includes eggs, bread, sausages, and hash browns. Very filling and the hash brown was these interesting strips that were crunchy and delicious with ketchup. Overall, I was pleased.

Really underwhelming. Everyone is friendly here, and the food certainly sounds good, but it didn't really deliver. We started with jalapeno poppers. My first, delighted impression of them is that they were HUGE. Not the little bite size things you'd find frozen at a grocery store, these looked like some effort went into making them. But then I took a bite. What a let down! The breading was overcooked and didn't really stick to the peppers, they were a little too hot (in the Fahrenheit sense of the word, not the Scoville sense. They didn't even register on the latter scale), and overall they just weren't all that impressive. Then the entrees... my wife had a salad. It didn't look like anything special, and she didn't look impressed. I had a jalapeno popper burger with added ghost pepper cheese. It wasn't all that bad, it was just... boring. You would expect something like a jalapeno and ghost pepper burger to be memorable, right? Sadly, after I started dipping it in ranch dressing to give it some kind of flavor, I realized that it really reminded me of something you'd find at Village Inn or IHOP. Bland and forgettable.

I would not recommend this place to anyone. We had to wait more than an hour for our order to arrive and when it did, the portion sizes were miniscule. Even the coffee took 15 minutes to arrive. All in all, an experience I would like to forget.

I'd give this place a 10 on stars for service if I could. And not the annoying, re-filling your drink after a sip, asking if you're OK every second kind of service; just attentive and genuine. And I couldn't care less about service normally unless I get zero attention. Anyhow - the food is really solid. It isn't 'holy crap' good, but it's very good and I'll definitely come back when in town. I had the trio of sliders which were jerk chicken, pork belly and kobe beef with really creative sauces as well as chips and artichoke dip. Really solid stuff and I'd imagine I'll be back soon.

This the best breakfast I've ever had! I ordered the empanadas rancheros topped with two over easy eggs and green chili sauce. It took a while to arrive but well worth it. The waiters were friendly and made sure you were taken care of. I will definitely be back for more.

Came for brunch with a party of 6 and it was very enjoyable. Had a young man named Nick as our server and he was excellent. He told us right away that he was new, and once we ordered he came back and double checked a few things which we appreciated. He was extremely attentive and was always on top of our bottomless mimosas! I had the smothered breakfast burrito which was great, and the table ordered an extra plate of creme brûlée French toast to share and it was worth it. No complaints here.

I've been here twice now, both times on a Sunday. The first time was in the afternoon (3ish) and there was nobody in the place and the service was poor - the food was GREAT. Last Sunday we went in with friends and the patio looked busy, the inside was not so busy. The food was again, GREAT. We had the Breakfast Croissant, the Crab Cake Benedict, the Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs and the Ranchero Omelet. All were really tasty and filling. Everybody was very pleased with the food. The staff seemed clueless, however. Getting coffee/drinks/water was a challenge. Asked for cream from the waitress and got nothing, and then the bartender, both said oh sure and it never came. Not too long a wait for the food, and it arrived hot and steamy and all at once. Both this visit and the last getting a check was not so easy and paying even harder. It is a shame, since this is an awkward location that the service isn't a better draw. It wasn't busy enough that any lack of service was excusable. The food, however, worth tolerating the staff for. Hopefully they'll keep the chef.

It must be a good sign when you pull up and see 4 or 5 police cars in the parking lot, right? Yes! Location: easy to drive right by :( look for Scott's Liquid Gold and you'll find The Grubbery Service: Excellent! Melissa, our server was attentive without being annoying. The manager checked in with us about halfway through the meal; you can tell they are a fairly new place. Hopefully, they maintain this kind of service. Food: Hubby got the Breakfast Burger. I got the Biscuits and Gravy. Hubby raved about the Burger, said it was perfectly cooked and moist and yummy. Biscuits and Gravy were average. The Grubbery has a nice vibe. Based on our meal (and observation of other meals around us), we'll be back!

  • Tammy M.

The food was the only good thing about this place. If you have an hour to wait for your meal then come on in for lunch. On a Thursday. An hour? Ridiculous. Plus the only reason I decided on this place was because there was a free beer when u checked in with yelp and pretty good stars....when I told the server Bethany that she said it isn't valid anymore and they need to take it off. Then literally walked away to the kitchen. I should've left then but there was 10 of us. Then when I said it wasn't daughters 4th bday she said all they had was Danish and cheesecake. Wow. Exciting! Not. Just don't bother going here. I guess that's why the restaurant is situated where it is far from where you would think a restaurant should be. It caters to certain kind of people and that's what kind of pleasant service you will get out of the staff members. When it was all said and done it was false advertisement that brought us in here. Don't waste your time.

Checked out The Grubbery shortly after it opened . It's an interesting place - it's in the lower level of a really nondescript office building off Havana St. You would never know it's there! According to the menu, they do coffee, breakfast, lunch, happy hour, and dinner, plus they offer coffee and catering delivery services. We checked out the happy hour. They offer sliders for $2 each - the best was the jerk chicken! "Chips and Dip" - which is artichoke dip and homemade potato chips was $2, and flatbread was $3. The homemade potato chips were super good! They also have 2-for-1 beer and wine. I didn't check out the wine selection, we just did beer. They have the typical domestics on draft, and they have a selection from Great Divide Brewery in bottles. We opted for those since I like the idea of local businesses supporting local brewers. =) We also had the banana hazlenut bread pudding, and it was TO DIE FOR! It has nutella on top...enough said! The place was pretty empty (it's brand new this week), and it's clear that the wait staff is new at this, but overall we liked it and will try it again! It's a little off the beaten path, but very close to Stapleton, North Park Hill, Montbello, and GVR. The price was right for HH and the food was good, so I'm sure we'll be back

Had an hour to kill before the Post Office opened so I went down the street to give The Grubbery a try. Am I glad I did. Although I was the only one in the place, just me and the manager Mellisa, I was impressed. I have driven past the place at lunch hour and it looked by the amount of cars parked close by, that the place was packed. And I can see why, great layout, tastefully put together, not crowded, just a totally pleasant atmosphere. I ordered the standard breakfast, couple of eggs, hash browns, bacon and toast. The food was great and for $5, you cannot ask for more. Chatted with Mellisa while I ate and drank my coffee. Personable, cheerful and someone who clearly enjoys her job. This place will do well and will enjoy a strong following among those who like good food in a great environment. I know, I will go back and probably often.

Skip Snooze, Jelly and trendy breakfast spots. Hell skip IHOP. This place is tucked in the industrial neighborhood near Montbello and Northfield Stapleton. Busy on Sunday but no hour wait, got seated right away. Food was great for the price. Friendly attentive service. No fluff no frills but clean modern ambiance. Lots of coupons online since they are relatively new so we got a great deal as well. We aren't into sports but they have lots of flat screen tv's and a full bar, maybe a good after work happy hour spot. Worth going a little out if the way for less crowds, reasonable prices, good foods and supporting local business.

I expected more from this restaurant but maybe I just chose the wrong day to try it. At the brunch buffet there was no serving utensil for the fruit, quiche was rubber, at one point there were no plates at all, the blueberry pancakes had crunchy seeds from raspberries or blackberries which was unexpected, and I stood in front of the prime rib for nearly five solid minutes while two people worked right next to me without acknowledging my presence. I gave up and walked away so the food on my plate wouldn't get cold, then when I went back the entire prime rib was gone. The salmon was the only bright spot on the buffet. That was fantastic. Otherwise I'm very disappointed.

As you can see only one star because Yelp won't allow NO STARS!!! What a disappointment this place was! There were maybe 5 tables when we arrived and it still took about 40 minutes to get our food after we ordered. I ordered the Cuban burger and got what appeared to be their regular hamburger. How could a resturaunt screw something up that badly with so few customers. Our wait person took the blame for it, then stormed into the kitchen in a huff. My thought was it wasn't the first order this night that came out wrong. I was hoping a manager would come by & say something to us but that didn't happen. She did comp us for the burger for the mistake. The menu indicated the hamburger was a quarter pound yet I've seen more meat on a White Castle burger then there was on my burger at this place. Please do yourself a favor & eat somewhere else!!!!

In a word, disappointed. Not worth $20.00 for the buffet. The buffet food was cold and hard. The taste was nothing to write home about. The service was sub par. In hind sight I guess I should have ordered from the limited Sunday menu... Oh well I'll never know because I'm not willing chance it. #negativestar

Really wanted to like this place but have been disappointed on two separate visits, one for weekend brunch and one for a late weekday lunch. While the design (both of the interior space and the graphic design) seems well-thought out here, the same attention has definitely not been paid to training the staff. During both visits my group experienced poor service (from different servers). In addition to seeming a little out of the loop in terms of training, the people working here have been apathetic and even downright unfriendly. My first visit wasn't too long after they opened, so I wanted to chalk up a lot of the mishaps to them getting the kinks worked out, but even then there is no reason a dish should have to come to the table four times before it's what you actually ordered. The food itself is all over the place. There are temperature control issues coming out of the kitchen such as hot items being served cold because they've been sitting around instead of being made to order. As with the design, there are hints that this could be a great restaurant but things just aren't clicking. I live nearby and would love another great independent eatery where I can go spend some dough but sadly this isn't it.

Went for brunch, my chicken fried steak was good and so was the Serrano Bloody Mary but my girlfriend's "s'more pancakes" we're literally regular pancakes topped with marshmallows/chocolate morsels(not melted). You'd think you could be a little more creative like actually adding chocolate/marshmallows/graham cracker into the batter or atleast melting the stuff and drizzle it on top.

We have had the Reuben, the ribs, basalmic chicken, and the steak sandwich so far. The food is awesome and the sides are just as good. Great fresh chips and fries. I also loved the coleslaw. Can't wait to try the $10.00 all you can eat wings on Wednesdays after 3:00pm. Happy Hour after 4:00pm 2 for 1 Parking is a challenge right now but they are working on it.

Excellent atmosphere, excellent service, the food couldn't be better, I had a tough time deciding which meal to order. The hash browns and bloody Mary's are unique and both delicious. Overall a great place for a meal! GO MATADORS FSAE!

Tried this place twice. Bought a groupon and ordered something that wasn't allowed for the groupon so couldn't use it the first time(my fault). Came back to finally use the groupon. My thoughts: 1st trip) $60 for our meal consisting of chicken, ribs, coconut shrimp, beer = not worth it. Ribs were dry and one note. Chicken was dry and one note as well. Coconut shrimp had good flavor and were probably my favorite thing. Honestly, I cook better than this at home. 2nd trip) $30 for this meal and still not worth it to me. BF tried the sliders - they were small and came out cold. I had the buffalo mozarella ravioli, good but nothing special. This time they burnt my coconut shrimp. Again I can cook better than this at home. Don't know if brunch is better but dinner is just not their thing. Expensive for the price/portion/quality. It sucks cuz I wanted to like this place, I tried, they have the whole ambiance & decor down...but ultimately the food is what matters. I won't be coming back.

I went here for a happy hour with coworkers, and was really kind of disappointed. I ordered one little pork slider, and it came out at least 10 minutes after everyone elses' appetizers. One little pork slider. And it was fatty, greasy, and flat. The flatbread specials sound like a good deal for $3 on HH, but they're all bread, and only covered with cheese and toppings on the inside part of the bread. Then, random waiters and waitresses came to our table at least 4 times with other table's orders, looking around bewildered, hollering out the meal to us. Why don't they know what table they're going to? Our waitress brough my drinks fine, but failed to bring my check. After 15 minutes, people started clearing the table and I still had no check. So I went to the bar. I'll likely never go there again.

First off, I so want this neighborhood eatery to succeed. I had Sunday brunch with a girlfriend and was sorely disappointed by the food and the slow service. This was my second brunch experience here and same issue, marginal food with slow service. The wait staff is friendly, but the excuse heard again on this visit is that they were understaffed. I didn't receive my entire order and there isn't an efficient way to replenish coffee or hot water for tea. When there are a myriad of options for good food and service, I would not go out of my way to go back or to recommend The Grubbery to my friends.

  • J C.

I really wanted to like this place, but I was disappointed. Most of the good reviews are for brunch, so their brunch food must be better than their lunch/dinner menu. Our little family went here for dinner and started out with the coconut shrimp, which was on the greasier side but had a flavorful dipping sauce. I got the steak and pesto sandwich, but it should be called a grilled onion sandwich as I only got two bites of steak. Hub ordered the sliders and one of out of three was good, but the other two weren't worth three bucks a piece. Kid and the parents got to taste kid's mac n cheese and chicken nuggets after our server brought out a wrong order. Sadly, I make better packaged Mac n cheese and nuggets from Costco. Chicken nuggets were overcooked and Mac n cheese was lacking cheese! The server must have been distracted, because she was not a good listener all night. In addition to mixing up the kid's order, she charged us for a side order we never received (which they refunded), brought us a box for the leftovers after we told her we didn't need one, and brought a different beer than I ordered (which was still a good local beer). It was a disappointing night. I probably should have tried brunch at this new joint, but after the service I don't think I'll try them again.

We've had three great brunches at The Grubbery. But I wanted to try dinner before leaving a review. We arrived at 7pm on a Monday. There appeared to be only one waitress; she was also having to double as a bartender. The manager was moving around a lot, but didn't seem to be helping. We waited 10+ minutes to be asked even for a drink order. We looked around the restaurant and realized there were multiple tables in our state. We decided to leave. We'll give it one more shot on the basis of good brunches and a coupon I've got.

Coming in from out of town, The Grubbery was simply on our way. The staff was remarkably attentive and accommodating, and the food was excellent. I have never had french toast like theirs, and I went back because of that specific item!

Really impressed with the weekend brunch. Great food, awesome brunch drinks - KILLER bloody Mary, and only $3! Service was attentive, they have a full Starbucks menu (not just regular coffee, but also lattes and such). Really excited that there's finally a nice, locally owned restaurant that's convenient to North Stapleton (our house is just north of Northfield)! We'll be back for sure.

I was super excited to try this place after reading reviews- and to have their bottomless mimosas! My bf and I went. Everything on the menu looked and sounded amazing! I got the breakfast burger and hash browns, bf got the chicken fried steak and hash browns. I ordered my burger medium and it was definitely well done. Boo. Lettuce was too wilted to use, and food was barely warm. The 'hash browns' were more like potato chips? Definitely not what I was expecting. I ate my food, but it was really just meh. If it had came out hot and was cooked properly, I may have enjoyed it more. BF's chicken fried steak was not as good. Very overcooked and the under seasoned gravy barely covered the whole piece of meat. The place is super cute, and the menu definitely has promise.... Not sure if I'd give it another try though. Disappointing.

I was in town for business and saw this place on Yelp. It is not much from the outside, but I would come back again. I had the pork belly eggs Benedict. Really tasty. The English muffin was dense and chewy, not store bought. My server, Ian was great. Very friendly and proficient at his job.

My party enjoyed their crazy habanero/bacon Bloody Marys. Everyone enjoyed their food as did I. There is nothing really spectacular or unique about the food. That being said, the food was good and the waitress,Veronica, was very nice and perky. The manager sort of came off as a tool and he did something I HATE. My brother had cleaned his plate and the manager said "oh I guess you didn't like it at all." No one wants someone commenting on how much they ate because it's rude and awkward. He stopped by at the end of the meal to see how it was which is nice, but my last impression was him making me feel uncomfortable. Not good. If that awkward exchange hadn't occurred I would have given it a higher rating.

This place was awful. It was a gorgeous day out so we wanted to sit on the patio. The waitress who was seating us huffed and replied "Well, fine but that means I will have to take care of you because the other girl can't handle another table". There were only 4 other tables that were sat out there. The service continued to go down hill from there. The waitress slammed our drinks on the table in a hurry and then huffed something about needing to yell at the kitchen before she could take our order. Honestly, I would never visit this establishment again. Poor, poor service.

Denver is chalk full of great brunch spots and the Grubbery deserves a place at the top! Friendly inviting atmosphere and the management is authentically committed to making the experience yummy and memorable. Treat yourself to a BBQ garlic bloody, you won't be sorry!

I saw some great reviews about this place and decided to try it. The atmosphere was great and service was average. I got the eggs Benedict (one of my absolute favorite dishes) and was thoroughly disappointed... Whatever the meat that they put on it is, it was incredibly salty and frankly unappetizing. The eggs were way overcooked and the dish as a whole was just bad. I hate giving local restaurants bad reviews.. Just don't try the eggs Benedict. Not worth it.

So nice to have this type of restaurant on this side of town and close to work! Been to the Grubbery twice now, once for lunch & once for dinner. Was equally impressed by the food and service each time. The coconut shrimp are a definite fave. Definitely recommending this place to all of my coworkers and will continue to be a regular patron. Keep up the good work!

Service was extremely slow - wait staff and especially the kitchen; expect an hour or more to be seated, place an order and for the food to arrive. The quality of the food was average. Overall this restaurant is pricy for the quality/type of food and slow service, notwithstanding the fact that the waiter discounted our bill 10% for the slow service.

This was the worst unorganized service I have ever seen for a breakfast/ brunch establishment on a Sunday morning. All four employees working are running around like chickens with their heads cut off. No hostess to seat people standing for 10 min+ at the door that says please wait to be seated. Didn't get a class of water for 20 min sitting with my mom and infant daughter. Management needs to figure out how to run a business and staff a competent manager to run this restaurant. I'm ready to get up and leave. I've been waiting for creamer for 20 min for my coffee now.

I tried to be patient , as I have worked in the Service Industry for many years. The Service was shockingly bad . We sat in a booth never greeted , I grabbed a bar tender to finally get a menu. Once greeted , server was Nice at least. Ordered lattes , they never came only to find machine is broken. Ordered food, sat for an additional outrageous amount of time, server no where to be found . The entire time we waited no drink refills nothing . The bummer is the Burrito and Waffles and Chicken were tasty , but not tasty enough for the Service . Bummer.

We all make mistakes. Let me help you avoid making one: don't go here. I dismissed the other reviews complaining about the service as something that had hopefully been fixed, but after eating here today it's still clearly an issue, and worse, one that management doesn't appear to care to fix. The wait for everything (water, drink order, drinks, food order, check) was the worst I've experienced in years (on a Sunday during brunch when they claim to be a brunch place no less). It was so bad in fact that several tables around us just left because they'd been there so long without being helped. A table behind us left $5 for their drinks after their food order took 40+ minutes (don't blame them). Us specifically? There was a long wait for water (a guy in chef's clothes helped bring them out, what?). Waited another 10 minutes before someone came by for a drink order. We asked to put in our food order as well at that time to avoid another long wait, and waited a good 30-45 minutes for the food and 20 minutes for the drinks. There was no hostess seating people, there were 2-3 servers but only 1 looked like she was doing anything (and she spent most of the time half-jogging around the place, looking super frustrated, and occasionally going into the back and immediately yelling at someone). The food? Meh. I asked whether the Chicken Fried Steak or the Chicken and Waffles was better, and was tricked into the Waffles. I was served a single waffle that could have come from a do-it-yourself hotel buffet and the 3 pieces from a KFC bucket that I would choose last to eat if I had a choice. All this for just $12! The woman at the bar was the only one who kept her cool the whole time, seemed to know what she was doing, and did a decent job of providing service while apologizing the whole time and trying to keep everything in the whole place from blowing up. I won't be back here ever again, and unless you're the only table there or they have 10+ servers working, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

Went in for lunch after the lunch rush and was left outside w menus for 30 mins no drinks. Had to get up and leave because I only have an hour for lunch and the wait staff didn't even run out to ask us to stay. Was eager to try this place although it has bad reviews and now I know why.

Let me get right to the point, overall I had a good experience here and would come back. The reviews from you fellow yelpers was either the service was horrible and I'll never come back or was fantastic. The two of us tried to have the different egg Benedict dishes, and they were both good. The price was eight to $10 and the potatoes that came with mine were seasoned well and didn't need any sort of condiment. Our server was Jeremy and he was attentive and kept our coffee full and hot. This was about 9 AM on a Sunday morning and the restaurant was not very busy

Went there on the strength of the Yelp pics and ordered the country fried steak dreaming about those recommended hash browns only be told that they were out after I ordered. Asked if it came with biscuit or toast, and it doesn't so was told an English muffin would be added, but it never came. Waitress was nice. Don't get what the hype is about.

Zero Stars... I work in the neighborhood and have been to the Grubbery many times and since my first experience, this place has gone EXTREMELY downhill. Unfortunately, we have limited options for lunch, so we decided to give it one more shot today. Overall... slow, incompetent, poor training of staff, disgusting food, orders come out wrong, no professionalism... it is just bad. Probably one of the worst I've seen. Today, I called in my order with two co-workers during lunch. We decided to get takeout because of meetings we had to make.. The Grubbery was the WRONG choice for time efficiency. The guy taking orders over the phone was new, so I can't blame him too much, but he had no support or help. He could not put in separate orders and charged us for ingredients on our salads that were listed as being on them on the menu. To put in a quick takeout order I was on the phone for 10 minutes. When we arrived we ended up waiting for about 30 minutes just to get the payment figured out, then waited another 30 minutes to get our food after that. This was over an hour after calling ahead for a takeout order. While waiting for our food I heard staff members barking at each other and saw staff members rolling their eyes at each other and customers. I heard a man tell his server "I would like to get the cobb salad, but last time I ordered it, it came back with not a single ingredient correct, so this time, can we make sure we make the right salad?" During this time, there were at least 3 tables who came in, sat down, ordered, were given food, and left by the time we received our food. When the food finally arrived, we made sure to check each salad out because we knew something was going to be wrong. One of the salads was completely wrong with none of the ingredients listed except lettuce topped with a cold, hard piece of steak that was covered in fat. It was disgusting. I wish I took a picture. When we showed one of the frazzled employees the salad, she said, "This is unacceptable, I am so sorry!" and offered to make a new one. We were now 10 minutes late for our meeting and had to go, and didn't trust the kitchen (all the salads looked bad.. but we picked our battle), so we gave them the salad back and asked for our money back. She took another 10 minutes to give us the refund because she was too busy venting to someone on the phone about the situation. A little history. As I said, I work close by and the Grubbery catered an event of ours a year or so ago, and they did a fabulous job. Food and service was so great that we decided to start going to the Grubbery for after-work happy hours. They had a server in the beginning that knew our names and orders, and did a great job. Food was great, service was great, and staff were fun and laid back, yet completely on their game. Since then, which was probably a year ago, I have not had a single positive experience. I will not be back. Someone needs to find an adequate general manager and managers. This has such a great potential. It is in a great location, because there are so few restaurants and so many business around there. It is in a cool building and is easily accessible. Unfortunately management is functioning so low that it is hurting itself. Bad hiring, bad training, bad food, bad service... just bad.

This place is a train wreck. Service was horrible. Food was decent when it finally got there, but several problems with the order and missing items, which only got resolved after I had to ask the manager for help. It was two hours by the time we got out of there. Find somewhere else!

Zero Stars: only 1 waitress when we got there and it got fairly busy. We waited over an hour for an easy breakfast order and we finally walked out. During that hour we only got 1 cup of coffee even though we ask for a refill several times. We were nice realizing they only had 1 waitress but our patience ran out and we walked out because 1 of 6 meals came out and it was extremely cold. No excuse for this. If you are thinking of checking this place out for breakfast skip it!!!!!

My friends and I used to frequent The Grubbery almost every weekend because there's not much else in the area. Going back a year or so the menu was varied, the breakfasts were tasty and the food presented nicely, and the service was very good. The prices were reasonable too. During my pregnancy we didn't go there for a while, morning sickness and all that, but when we did return a few months ago they had a Sunday brunch buffet instead of the usual menu. We gave it a go and wished we hadn't. $20 per person for cold spaghetti, rock-hard biscuits, and greasy potatoes. I asked for a side of toast and they didn't have any bread. I ordered tea and the server didn't know how to use the filtered pot, so she spilled hot tea all over the table and all over me. The manager was unapologetic, citing this as the server's first day. The service had gone downhill drastically and all of the competent staff had gone. This weekend past we wondered if we should give the place one last try as we heard they'd ditched the dreadful buffet. Well, we didn't bother going back. We called and they told us they stop serving breakfast at 10:30am...on a Sunday...

My waitress was awesome. And there is a full bar, so I'll be back! The smothered burrito was excellent. The coffee is really good too, even though they don't have any milk substitutes. If you're from the south I don't recommend the grits, but the bacon is really good.

Living so close by, I'm kicking myself for not knowing about this place before! I would probably give three stars for the food... The benedict was overly rich for such a large portion, and my over-easy came out over-hard. Anyone who knows me however, knows that on days off of school I judge a good brunch by the quality/quantity of the mimosas. Bottomless for $9.99 is a great deal when they serve you an entire bottle of champagne in a jug with just a splash of not-too-pulpy OJ. I can't wait for my next three day weekend to come back!

We came here for Sunday brunch...which is a mediocre buffet at an astonishing $20 per person. And no you are not allowed to order off the regular menu. I'm going to lead off with that. I was looking for a nice breakfast place to take my Nana and brother. Someplace nice, near her retirement home. The Grubbery pops up on Yelp! Good reviews, the pictures look fantastic, the name even sounds cool. Jackpot, it's our lucky day! I call ahead since it is prime brunch hour on Sunday...around 10:30am. I ask if we need to make reservations, and the hostess giggles and says that won't be necessary. Hmmmmm weird. I've never heard of a good Sunday brunch that isn't packed to the gills, but OK. Also - no mention that this is a buffet, no regular menu. We show up, the place is about 30% full. WEIRD. And not a good sign. I ask about menus and the waitress tells me it is buffet only on Sundays. At this point, I normally would have left, because buffets are generally the worst things in the universe, but I had my Nana with me and I wasn't about to drag her all over town looking for a decent brunch place. To sum it up...there's an omelette station, a pasta station, a carved meat station, and about 10-15 hot items. EVERYTHING was mediocre...like just barely above hotel free continental breakfast status. I'm actually surprised there wasn't a DIY waffle station. The salmon, chicken, and veggies were inedible - so dry and overcooked. The biscuits and gravy were more like undiluted cream of chicken soup and hockey pucks. An hour and $85 bucks later, I left hungry and irritated. $20 per person?? This isn't Vegas or even downtown Denver for that matter. And I would have killed for some of that creme brulee french toast that somebody posted a picture of. WHY must you tease me oh fellow Yelpers?? It would have been cheaper and by far more delicious to go to any other independent breakfast joint in Denver. I mean...Denver has some radical food! Needless to say, I will never be back. Even my Nana said, we should have just gone to Denny's (face palm). As far as service goes, we actually had good service and the ambiance wasn't bad either. Kind of like a sports bar. This is the only reason why they get 2 stars instead of 1.

Absolutely the worst service I've had in a long time. It was a Sunday morning and not very crowded. We were there for over one and a half hours at which time they never cleaned one table. Three people got up and walked out and they never even knew they were gone. Expressed opinion to manager but she didn't seemed very concerned with making anything right. We ended up just leaving money on the table because no one ever came by to give us our check. On a plus side the food was good once it finally came.

My husband brought me here for a meal before our movie night, and it was adorable inside! Tucked inside of an industrial area, which is odd, but the building is gorgeous. The place was empty, there were probably 4 people in there that weren't staff, which made me nervous, but I figured maybe the crowd went home already. The appetizers were really good, and the food was delicious! I would go back anytime! The staff was super nice too! Everything was clean, and fresh.

The staff is really the best part about this place. The foods ok, the atmosphere isn't my cup of tea, but the staff is super nice and very attentive.

It was a little hard to find, but so worth the effort. I had the classic egg breakfast with grits and the hubby had the French toast. Both were delicious, but the French Toast was heavenly with a creme brulee flavor. Our server, Josh was friendly and helpful. He went and asked the chef how the French toast was made for me. We'll be trying to duplicate it at home in Arizona.

Breakfast was not good. I ordered chicken and waffles. Waffles were room temp and soggy. Chicken was way overcooked. The other person with me ordered chicken fried steak with a side of potatoes. There was no steak it was all batter and what steak there was, was awful. The potatoes were probably the worst part they were not even hot and were so overcooked from sitting on a steam table. Best part of my meal was the glass of water I got with it.

The Grubbery is located of the Havannah exit on your way to Downtown Denver in Stapleton. There is an Embassy Suites off the Exit, and it just a half mile further in an industrial looking complex. Everything on the menu is only $6-7! Except I saw a pasta dish for about $10-11. Seriously a deal. The service was great- super nice and attentive. The food was huge and fresh and delish. THey have alcohol- free wine or beer when you check in on yelp- this place is a no brainer 5 star. I got the apple bacon grilled cheese and a salad and they were perfect. THe nutella banana bread pudding dessert was enough for 4 people! And it was $6! I love the grubbery- it is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and you should go.

This is a really great place with an interesting menu. The staff is very friendly and helpful and works very hard to insure they provide prompt service. It's a new place and they are doing a great job. It's my second time here and everything was perfect again. Also, the beef is natural and grass fed, so you won't be ingesting antibiotics and extra hormones, which are very important things I look for in a restaurant. This will be a regular spot for me whenever I'm in this neck of the woods

Went out to meetup with some friends here last night. This hidden Breakfast mainly place does not disappoint for HAPPY HOUR. 2-4-1's on bottle beers AND a FREE BEER/WINE Yelp Check In. Food was great as well. 1/2 Price Pizzas for HAPPY HOUR I had the White Chicken pizza which is on a flatbread style crust and has a creamy pesto sauce. Pretty good- but a great deal for the price. I'm sure this place a great for the breakfast/ brunching crowds. But I must recommend it for HAPPY HOUR if you are ever out in this area

Excited to try this place once I saw they had a good deal for check in. Granted, I know it's father's day but they should've mentioned the buffet price was $25/ person. Pretty ridiculous for the minimal spread they had. Pretty disappointed and cash poor after a couple pancakes and bacon slice.

The food at this place is good. Not amazing, but tasty and reasonably priced. Also, this place is right near my office and it's really nice to have at least ONE decent place to have breakfast in the area. I'm very glad they're around for that reason alone. However, during my most recent visit I spent more time waiting for all the things before and after the meal than I did actually enjoying the meal itself. The wait staff were all super friendly but seemed poorly trained: there were 3 people serving 5-6 tables total and I waited 15 min with an empty coffee cup, an empty water glass (no refills were offered for either), a very obvious stack of dirty dishes, and my credit card sitting out before someone who was not my server finally noticed that I was ready to go. And that was after all 3 walked past me several times. Maybe they are all new... Anyway, this place is worth a shot for sure. It's SO much better than hitting one of the fast food places nearby and just as convenient, being right off I-70. Just don't have super high expectations. I will go again for sure and try to remember my own advice.

This place was AWESOME. Great food, in BIG portions, at amazing prices. This is a great place to come if you're trying to pack in a lot of food after a workout. I had a cheesesteak, which was made really well. I'm not an authority on authentic cheesesteaks, but what I had was delicious. We had the loaded nachos, which were covered in cheese, green chile, and jalapenos. It was great. It's tucked a little out of the way, but we are in the Northfield area a lot, so this will be a frequent visit for us. Oh, and the service was awesome!

Surprised by the high rating of this place. Perhaps it's purveyors haven't been to the downtown Denver eateries? The restaurant is in the middle of an industrial area and serves Applebee's quality food but at a higher price. $10 for a salad that has no meat. A burger - requested medium rate - served well done and swallowed up by a huge bun. The Mushroom Swiss burger with truffle oil had no hint of truffle oil. The server was friendly and prompt, but talked the food up a little too much.

Don't come here for the service. The 2 for $25 brunch with $2 mimosas was nice but the service, or severe lack there of, made it a not so pleasant brunch experience. I saw our waitress leave the restaurant multiple times and yet not once did she check to see if we needed anything before her odd departures. It got so bad that a lovely waitress from another section came over and told us to let her know if we needed anything to just let her know. So she clearly noticed the other waitress wasn't quite with it. Our waitress was also overly-chatty. Don't get me wrong, we are super friendly and all about friendly convo but she just went on and on about skiing in a bikini over 30 years ago and about riding Harley's.....yeah that actually happened. Then she gave us someone else's bill at the end. We had to tell her what we had bc she couldn't recall. THEN, another waitress came to pick up the bill since our older, blonde haired waitress went MIA yet again. So service with THIS waitress was rather awful. We MIGHT give it another go only bc it was a good deal and the other staff seemed friendly. Also, kind of an odd and out of the way location. Seems to be in the middle of an industrial park type area but we live in Stapleton North so it was easy for us.

Not impressed. Server was dropping food off at a table while we waited to be acknowledged at the door. She offered to bring waters then passed us onto the bartender who was busy making drinks. The bartender took our order, brought one coffee and sat down to eat her own breakfast. For not being busy, the 25+ minute wait for the food and still no waters till after our food was delivered, is pretty disappointing. She apologized said she thought the original server was bringing them at least, but staff communication/ table awareness could be improved. The food was pretty good for the price, but the French toast wasn't the most filling. The breakfast burrito and omelet were. I would suggest including a side in ALL meals especially since mine was the smallest of the three. The Jamaican reggae playing seemed totally out of place. Would not recommend at least as far as breakfast goes. Not worth the wait, for food, drinks, to pay the bill, etc. Kind of ironic they have 1 hour parking limits on their spots since they barely got the 3 of us in and out in that time. Their only saving grace is that they don't have much competition in the area.

I was so excited about this place! I had heard about it on the radio and from other friends. Bonus - it could be our on the way home from the airport in rush hour place to wait out the traffic. Location: Industrial and apparently where all the people from the planned communities come with the kiddos. The restaurant is in the bottom of a "tall" building. Restroom: Not in the restaurant, leave the restaurant into the lobby of the building, head around the elevators and women's is to the left. Not at all creepy to be wandering around an empty office building to a hidden bathroom where no-one can hear your screams... Staff: very nice, seemingly very inexperienced in the people part - ackward - how is it conversation - which i can't explain why it was, but it was either the full eye contact, long pause after they yes... i dunno, i felt weird... that's never happened to me before. Food: so disappointing. Fried mac n cheese - meh, the cheese wasn't flavorful enough to put up to the frying fried artichokes - meh - although the sauce to dip them in were great. kobe sliders - adorable, but meh The booze - there was a great special on - 2 for 1 happy hour and we had a yelp check in and get a beer free. We also had a groupon which apparently the staff didn't know how to deal with their daily specials or couldn't combine the items, so we paid full price for all our beers. I can understand not combining specials - but have the decency to tell me, not just assume i wont notice. All in all, if we go back, it might be for the 2/1 happy hour and maybe to try the flat bread. The one bonus - it was Gaypleton night. Amazinhly cool to have a bunch of gay fellows in basically a family friendly place and see the fams freak out a bit! Tee hee!

Went in yesterday for breakfast! Was greeted quickly with a smiling face, super nice. He quickly got us our drinks, even offered to flavor my mimosa! My husband's Bloody Mary was good too! I had a great breakfast, filling, but not too greasy. I highly recommend this place. Definitely will be back. Needed a good breakfast place in the area!

This place is fantastic! Very good buffet with prime rib and omelette stations. They have a great drink special with different flavored of mimosas. The service is excellent and there is always plenty of places to park love this place!

Loved everything about our our dinner at the Grubbery. Great service, amazing burger and Turkey Club Sandwich. Steak fries were excellent. Staff was attentive and nice. Location is Hard to see from the street, but super fun interior, great music playing. Really recommend the Grubbery very highly!!! Happy Hour prices are awesome!

Really enjoyed the breakfast at the Grubbery. We had the breakfast burrito & the Eggs Benedict. The burrito was awesome, had it with sausage & veggies and it was one of the best I have had. The ambiance is nice and I would definitely go back!

Major Disappointment! I was here a few months ago for brunch and remembered it was pretty good, not mind-blowing, and certainly the best part of that experience was the company, but enough to keep them on the radar. It's because of that experience that my husband and I stopped in yesterday. I won't hold it against The Grubbery that they were on to their lunch menu and we really wanted breakfast. Just keep that in mind if it's just before noon and you are craving pancakes. On a positive note, the staff was VERY friendly. Unfortunately, the food was not as pleasant. Don't get me wrong, it was still edible, just not as well executed as we were expecting. We started with bacon stuffed jalapeño poppers. They were enormous! Also, they were not so much stuffed with bacon, as garnished with it. The breading stood up on its own, and totally slid off the jalapeños. I ordered the Cobb salad. It had luncheon meat rather than grilled chicken. The portion was on the small side, which would be fine if higher quality ingredients had been used. My husband ordered a jalapeño popper burger with ghost pepper cheese. He *never* feels restaurant food is spicy enough, so it was no surprise the burger failed to live up to that standard. It was surprising that a burger topped with jalapeños, jalapeño cream cheese, and ghost pepper cheese was so devoid of flavor. Good thing there are plenty other lunch options and places with extended breakfast hours in Denver.

Pulled pork sandwich was really good, everything else was nothing special. Ordered the shrimp and grits which our server said was delicious. Shrimp was not sautéed, but boiled and overlooked. No sausage, no Tri-color peppers, little flavor. Mac and cheese no better flavor than Kraft Mac 'n Cheese. Server was gracious and took care of it. Probably worth returning if you order the right things!

Worst restaurant I have been to in a while. Horrific service, mediocre food and a staff that is incapable of providing service of any kind. 20 minutes to order drinks, haven't come 25 minutes to order food after asking who our waiter was 3x. Absolutely awful and I have a hard time seeing how they are in business.

My husband and I were on our way back from the Denver International Airport and needed food immediately, we were both pretty "han-gry" if you've ever known the feeling. This restaurant wasn't anything special. It was fairly small, quiet, not very busy. The menu, for lack of better words, was plain. I ordered the eggs benedict and it was delicious! Like I said, it wasn't anything special just what you would expect, no jazz. When I "checked-in" with my Yelp app I received a promo for a free beer which was nice. If you're looking for some quick grub I recommend this restaurant- if you're looking for a "little more" then I'd keep on driving.

I went there this past Saturday at 9 am (yes, a bit early) with a friend for breakfast. There was hardly anyone in there but as we left it was a lot busier. I ordered the burrito with grits as my side. The food was excellent, the Bloody Mary spicy like I asked for and the coffee was great. I even loved the coffee presentation. I need to go in at night and have beers! Service was excellent!

This place was such an interesting find. We were headed up to the Northfield/Stapleton area to visit the T Mobile store, Target, Home Depot, etc, and I wanted to grab a bite to eat. I consulted my good friend Yelp, which suggested this place, right off of Havana Street. At first, we drove right by it. It's in an odd location, in the bottom floor of an office building in an area chock full of warehouses and other randomly placed office buildings. But we eventually found it. On the weekends, they only offer brunch, which wasn't a huge deal for us since we LOVE brunch. I ordered the pineapple coconut pancakes and a strawberry mimosa. My fiance ordered the Smores pancake and a beer (free with a Yelp check in!). We also shared a Classic Egg Breakfast (eggs, hashbrowns, english muffin, bacon). The strawberry mimosa was delicious. It was your typical mimosa with strawberry puree in the bottom. They also offer other flavors, such as mango or pineapple. My fiance loved the Smores pancake and highly recommends it. It had a decent amount of smores topping on top and between each pancake so you never felt as though your pancakes were dry or too saturated and rich. My pineapple coconut pancakes really weren't my favorite. The problem was that they had a small amount of pineapple sauce on top, but no pineapple sauce in between the pancakes. I felt that they were dry. I asked for syrup, but it didn't make a difference. They were just very dry pancakes. The Classic Egg Breakfast was delicious. At first, I was concerned about the hash browns, which were similar to very, very, very thin fries. They were a cross between french fries and chips, but they were good. The English muffin is what made the meal. I'm pretty sure it was homemade and it was delicious. They also have bottomless mimosas for $9.99 a person and deliver lunch during the week - I could see these being major benefits for some people. Overall, I recommend checking this place out if you're in the Northfield/Stapleton area. If I'm ever in the area, I'd like to check out their non-brunch options.

Why do I keep torturing myself with The Grubbery? Ok it is very convenient that is why I went the first time, then new ownership...now I am just not sure. An hour and ten minutes to get our food (we were the only 5 customers) the fish tacos were cold and devoid of any flavor -del taco does better than this. What a poor overall experience AGAIN! At least the waitress was pleasant - It's not her fault the kitchen can't remember to buy shrimp for their new signature dish.

We had our company's quarterly meeting here. We had about 30 people. The staff was great! We had drinks and appetizers. The potato chips are incredible. Love the cheese bites. A huge shout out to Tyler one of our servers! He is fantastic. Our company comes here at least once a month for meetings. We love this place! Great eats and super customer service. Thanks for a great meeting! See you next quarter if not sooner!

Food is cheap but pretty terrible. Yelp rarely steers wrong, but this is one of those times. The cheese on the cheese fries definitely came from a squirt bottle, like ballpark nachos. The "grilled pears" on my wife's salad came from a can. If you're deciding between this and a microwaved gas station burrito, I guess it's ok.

Maybe you're not supposed to go to this place on weekends... I don't like being critical but this place was bad, terrible! A cup of gumbo and chicken wings for appetizers, the gumbo tasted like it came straight out of a can, and we paid 4 extra dollars for 4 scrawny shrimps. The wings were just ok, small and over cooked. Oh, we didn't get the appetizers until our entrees , a burrito and chicken and waffles . The burrito was topped with 7-11 nacho cheese..in fact it may have been one of those frozen 7-11 burritos. The waffle was almost warm, but closer to cold and the 3 chicken wings were big, but over cooked and flavorless. The service was ok and the place was clean with a pretty cool decor.

Where do I begin? The first time we came here, we had to wait a long time to be sat, despite nobody being in the restaurant. Then our server disappeared and it took FOREVER to get our order in and (eventually) our food. The food was ok, but nothing special. Getting a refill on coffee and water was impossible. We decided to give this place another shot, but it was the exact same thing all over again. This time it was Sunday, so we got sat and were informed that the only option was the buffet. We rolled with it, had the worst service I've ever seen (the server couldn't even bring us napkins... Come on) and when we got the bill, it was 25 a piece for the buffet! The food definitely isn't that good and the service is the worst I've ever had. Being a former server, I tend to be forgiving, but this was unacceptable. We won't be back ever again.

Maybe ordering off the menu is better but their brunch buffet should be avoided at all costs. The service was good but the little bit of food I had was disgusting. Pancakes where the baking soda wasn't mixed in correctly, overcooked prime rib, muffins so dense it took some actual work to chew them. More than half of what I took back to the table I couldn't have more than one bite of and there was nothing I wanted to go back for seconds for. With only two other tables there at 10:30 in the morning on a Sunday I should have realized something was off. My wife was no more impressed than I was and after two buffets, and two sodas, our total with tip was almost $70. Not at all worth it.

Friday November 15th 2013, since we don't want to travel or drive far to this establishment we went. We knew some what that there was one new establishment in this part of Neighborhood, since Hubs have driven around this area many times. Time was about 20:00hrs. When we arrived, there are like 2 other couples dining in. Yes, the establishment is spacious, filled with dark mahagony wood tables, plenty of TV screens to catch whatever they are showing. We opt to be seated at one of the many booths, nearest to the entrance of the door. Our lovely server her name is Abigail. She gave us the menu. From the simple menu, Hubs wanted to order the Meatloaf, but they ran out of it. We opt to have the following items : * Coconut Shrimp ($10.99) * BBQ Chicken Flat Bread Pizza ($6.49) * Macaroni & Cheese with Grilled Chicken, Jalapenos & Green Onions option. ($9.99) At first I ask our lovely server whether I can have a sample of the House-made Spicy Sauce. She brought one out aka the spicy sauce in a dipping bowl, and I don't fancy their House-made spicy Sauce, hence I don't order the wings. Then during our dinner, I ask our Server again if they have Jalapenos or something Spicy. She brought me out Fresh Jalapenos and the House-Made Pickled which are of Jalapenos and Serrano Chiles. The House-Made Pickles indeed intrigue us. Our food came out piping hot. The Coconut Shrimp was HUGE, though it was Over-Fried to my liking. The Coconut Shrimps were hand battered, dipped in fresh coconut and served with Coco Lopez dipping sauce. The Coco Lopez dipping sauce was like a Light Yogurt or perhaps Coconut Milk with Pineapple Bits. Sweet but I don't fancy the Coco Lopez Dipping Sauce as much. The BBQ Chicken Flat Bread Pizza comes with Grilled Chicken, Cilantro, Red Onions and House Made BBQ Sauce, was just A-OKAY. Hubs like his order of Macaroni and Cheese with Grilled Chicken, Jalapeno and Green Onions, option. Hubs said the Cheese that they put in his order was light, and I was surprised with the amount of Macaroni and Cheese, he managed to clean the whole bowl and was happy with his Dinner. *THANK GOD* Hubs opt to have Hot Coffee ($1.65) which are re-filled several times during the evening, while I opt to have water. All in all, the food is 3.5 stars and we don't mind returning coz Hubs wanted so bad to eat the Meatloaf that they ran out. Is that a good sign that they ran out of Meatloaf? We sure hope so. Our server Abigail RAWKS big time. She took several times to make sure we have what we need and answered many of our questions. If I am not mistaken the Manager also came by to say Hello and see how are things for us. NOT forgetting one of the Chefs, that took his time, to answer my questions about their housemade pickles... We like The Grubbery and we don't mind returning. *PLEASE DO NOT RUN OUT THE MEATLOAF* Perhaps I should call them before we go again and "pre-order" the Meatloaf dish. *Wishing to the Meatloaf GODs* The Grubbery 4880 Havana St Denver, CO 80239 Tel : (303)-407-9040 Manager : Roger Kerns grubberydenver.com @245/2013

With limited options for food in Stapeton this place is a welcome surprise! The food was fantastic and the waitstaff was friendly. I only hope they get more people to keep coming in because you can not keep a resturant open with little business. Yes, it is strange walking into an office building for a resturant, but do not let that fool you. The inside is all new with very nice decor. They also deliver! Tell all your Stapleton friends about it!

Second visit was a three star experience for the food but five for the service. Came for Sunday brunch and the place was busy but not packed. The Boy ordered biscuits and gravy, I ordered chicken fried steak. Both came with "hash browns" which I put in parentheses because The Grubbery apparently does their own spin on what you would normally think of as hash browns (it would be nice it the menu, which is pretty descriptive, would warn you of this). Grubbery hash browns are more like shoestring potato chips. They weren't terrible or anything but it was not what I was expecting or looking forward to eating. I also had problems with the chicken fried steak. The gravy was delicious and the quality of the meat was good but it was a very small portion and way overbreaded. I ended up trading in my meal for an order of biscuits and gravy and subbed the "hash browns" for fries (which the Grubbery does very, very well). This was a much, much better meal. The gravy as I mentioned earlier is delicious and the biscuits were soft and moist - clearly fresh. The manager was super cool about subbing out my meal and replacing the hash browns the neither of us enjoyed with fries. We will come again just on the basis of the service; we're just learning that the menu can be a little hit or miss.

We've been having lunch here for a couple of months, but today's meal was very disappointing. They've changed the menu, taken off many items, like bbq pork belly, several sandwiches, and replaced their awesome chips with way over seasoned, half cooked potato wedges. Half of my burger was beyond well done. Hard as a rock! So sad. 11/11/14 - received a call from Melissa at the establishment, they want to make it right. That in my book is what customer service is all about. And I didn't write the review to get anything from them, just to let them know we've gotten awesome food before & this meal just didn't hit the mark. We love this place. Thanks Melissa for the call, made our day.
