Good spot for brunch, cute patio + interesting menu options. If you're out for brunch get one of their mimosas. They are 8/9ish a glass, which is more than a lot of other places, but they have fun flavors and they're a fun addition. At first glance, they don't have a lot vegan wise. But with a couple easy omissions from menu items, there a few fun options. FYI: Dogs (exception service animals) are not allowed on their patio. I've seen people attach dogs to the tree across the sidewalk, but the pups usually can't see his/her people from that spot. If your pup needs to see you to feel safe, I wouldn't necessarily recommend bringing them here. You could always way for the table right by the tree. Street parking can be annoying at times.

Not surprised that this place gets bad reviews!! For the first time, we were just there with our 7 month old baby and the place in fact looked a bit sad. We were hungry and decided to give it a shot. 10 minutes wait which is not bad for a holiday but 20 minutes passed and the family that came behind us were seated and we were still waiting. Are you kidding me!!! We were there before and had a baby! Let me mention that there were empty tables

As soon as we walked in we thought we should turn around and leave; the vibe was just that bleak and sad, but we decided to press on. Every server in this place looked like the walking dead. They all wore sad and depressing faces, and could care less about whether or not you're being helped or happy with your food/service/order/etc. The poor demeanor of the staff made us really wonder about the owners/managers. As the saying goes, staff are only a reflection of management/leadership; I get the impression there is neither at the Egg Shell of Cherry Creek. Things only got worse from there. Our coffee mugs had lipstick on them. The food was bland and boring. Potatoes were clearly frozen, and the corned beef in the Corned Beef Hash Skillet appeared to have some freezer burn. The jam is a soupy watery mess. Heck... we've had better at Denny's. I could go on about the kitschy decore, but now I'm just nitpicking. We wanted to love this place for its location and convenience, but there's not one redeeming quality. We'd give it zero stars if we could. Save your dollars.

The highlight of this breakfast was that I got to stare at my sexy husband during the unreasonably long wait for our food. When we finally got it, it was way over priced, small portions and low quality. The low quality part is the most annoying- clearly frozen potatoes (and way too salty), cheap meat...NOT GOOD. An additional frustrating aspect was the sllllloooooow/negligent service. We sat outside and our waiter barely ever came out. We and the guests around us who were being served by this guy were forced to flag down the waitress who was actually present out there, and ask her to get our server- but it didn't seem to have any effect. The table next to us had to ask for their check several times and just sat there, waiting. My husband and I asked for more syrup and hot sauce THREE times before our waiter brought it to us. *It is incredibly aggravating that a restaurant gives you a tiny portion cup of FAKE, CORN SYRUP and then they have the nerve to be stingy with it?! Ridiculous. I expected real maple syrup, due to the prices* NOT GOOD.

I had some time to kill before an appointment in the morning and thought, "Hey I'll get some breakfast!" Meandering the area I ended up at The Egg Shell. I will say that I love the concept. I love the decor and the mismatched chairs and coffee cups. Though being seated at a table with a "Las Vegas Grandpa" mug was a wee bit strange for me. I opted for a mimosa and the California Benedict. The mimosa was quite tasty as was my Benedict. Sadly it seemed like the kitchen staff was a bit disorganized, as they tried to bring me another table's order. Bummer! I was also under some pressure from the time (self imposed mind you) but I did everything I could to expedite the process. I ordered food at the same time as my drink and I requested a box and my check just before completing what I planned on finishing of my meal. All that effort and I was still seven minutes late for my appointment. Darn it! Oh well... It would be worth swinging back in when I could savor the experience more and perhaps with some company to share it with!

Was looking for a little breakfast/brunch spot and stumbled upon this little place while charging my electric car just around the corner. Ordered the biscuits and gravy and they were tasty. I also had a bloody which included some pepper infused vodka which was spicy and well made. The bartender was friendly and knew the menu. Better TV placement would be a plus here.

All the side potatoes are made with bacon fat or something and are not labeled or described that way. Not a fun thing for a vegetarian to discover on her own - please label your menu items. Not planning to come back.

My waitress was really sweet but the management/owner made a huge deal after I had already been seated saying the kitchen is closed. If your waitress seats a 7 month pregnant woman then you take it up with your staff, not the patron. The manager came to my table and said "what do you want to order and I'll see if the cook will reopen the kitchen and you'll have to pay for your ticket up front." Mind you they close at 3:00 and I was arrived a solid 20 min. before they closed. I practically inhaled my BLTA and smoothie just to get out of there. I wanted to like this place because I love to support quaint local businesses but there are just too many restaurants to choose from to go back to a place with such poor management.

    (1)
  • Bob L.

I dislike this place because of its high price food with the poor portion of the food. Imagine eating a small BLTA for $9?? Reasonable? No, Higher than the real price? Super. Also tried their Caesar for $9. The same poor portion, cant see myself enjoying myself because I was very disappointed in the portion of it.

I admire the cleanliness of this place. I've been having my breakfast here for a lot of times and now and I never had bad experiences about their food and service. Omelettes and benedicts were my top choice. Best benedicts and omelettes.

Very nice establishment. Very clean and comfortable. I had the breakfast burrito smothered in pork green chili and it was nicely presented. However, it was a bit bland. The service is inviting and at attentive, Tyler did an excellent job. In all I would return.

    (3)
  • Chris C.

The food was rather bland and took forever to be brought to us. The owner/manager criticized her employers in front of the customers. The "flow" of how the workers accomplished their tasks was very stuttered and broken (not that they weren't trying to get the job done...just poor management). The staff themselves were friendly and courteous. If the management gets their act together the staff has the potential to make the place rock.

  • Jon L.

A pleasant surprise after reading the reviews. My wife and I gave it a go after a ridiculous wait time at Syrup! The staff was awesome! So friendly, so helpful. They worked as a team to take care of us. Our food came quickly and was delicious. The outdoor seating was a bonus because it was a beautiful morning. The only critical thing I would say is the portions aren't huge and it isn't inexpensive but the benefits out weigh the drawbacks. We will be back!

  • Julie R.

Every time I eat here there is always something wrong with the order. The service is slow and the food is just okay. I would not recommend eating here with all of the other great places in and around Cherry Creek North.

    (2)
  • Sheila B.

This place is terrible.... There is a reason you can walk in without a wait on a weekend... Slow.. Food is bland... Our waiter thought a mimosa was white wine and oj. Bad service. I will never go back and hope I can spare you from wasting your money.

We're visiting from The Woodlands, TX. Very cozy restaurant. Came before 7 AM so we were the only ones there. Ordered banana bread French toast, country fried chicken and waffle chicken. They were all good but a little pricey compared to the other breakfast place we've been too. Coffee was $3.50 and side of egg and bacon was $3 each. Overall, we loved the food and service was great.

    (4)
  • David B.

The foods was good. I had a Fillmore omelet which has feta, kalamata olives and spinach. They happily substituted bacon for the gyro meat, though the sauce was supposed to be on the side, but wasn't. Not a big deal. The service was very slow at two points. I will say that when we ordered, the food came quickly. I was seated quickly and got coffee and a refill while no one was in the restaurant (7:30 am). However, when we wanted to order and get our check, our waiter had disappeared. I finally had to get up both times to get someone's attention. So, good food, below average service.

  • KC C.

Overpriced food, slow service, and an okay food. Nothing spectacular about the food. If I pay over $10 for a skillet, I'd like to have more than just potatoes. Mine was supposed to be corned beef hash, but couldn't tell if they'd put any corned beef. Eggs were cooked fine though. Rude manager (?) or owner (?) yelling and mistreating her employees in front of her guests. How unprofessional. Never will return again nor recommend this place to anyone.

The Cobb salad is a must! Large and delicious. A large space for groups and nice couch like seating in some areas. Been twice and both times it's not been busy

I LOVE The Egg Shell. It is one of my all time favorite breakfast spots. The space is unique and homey, service has always been great (though you can expect every breakfast joint in Denver to have a wait and slower service on the weekends) and I am quite literally obsessed with their breakfast burrito. I bring friends here ALL the time after a night out - it's the best!

I came from Loveland to meet a friend for breakfast, and I had a wonderful experience. The server gal was so nice, and the veggie omelette was amazing. They let me change the veggies, no problem. I had like 3 cups of coffee it was so good. Thanks!

Best breakfast in cherry creek. Not sure why reviews not great. Bloody Marys are solid, food is very good. Believe it or not they have the best Mac & Cheese I have ever had. Have to try it.

  • Kelly A.

The potato pancakes were super mushy and greasy. I wish they had a firmer texture. Ice coffee isn't bad. Nice outdoor seating. No one was there for Saturday brunch so I got my pick of patio seating. Nice wait staff.

    (3)
  • Jason S.

Not the most innovative name but they have several great dishes whether you're trying to keep it healthy or nurse a hangover with some greasy goodness. Multiple seating options as well. When it's nice out try the patio which is great for people watching (but you may have to wait for a spot). They also have indoor seating and there's an indoor 'atrium' as well which provides a nice hybrid.

We thought the menu looked yummy. Unfortunately, we were not able to tell. After 50 minutes, during which time we had been served one cup of coffee and had to ask for silverware so we could stop stirring our beverages with our fingers, one fried egg appeared. We complained to the manager, and then foundthe bagels and lox we had ordered had not made it on to the ticket. Another ten minutes and we were informed that the lox looked suspicious and the kitchen was reluctant to serve it. We asked for the check, and rightfully were told there would be no charge. There will also not be a return visit.

I almost didn't come here because of the rating, but it's really close in the neighborhood so I had to check it out. Everyone was very nice, I was greeted as soon as I came in, the place looked clean, and I got a pretty large breakfast sandwich in just a few minutes which was delicious.

It was a shock to see so many poor reviews for the Egg Shell. We have been regularly going here after the gym when we don't feel like waiting for hours and hours at the other more popular breakfast places in town. Every time we've been here, the food is always super hot and fresh. On Saturday, I ordered the kitchen sink skillet - which came with all kinds of meats, AMAZING potatoes, and eggs of your choice. My partner ordered some greek omelet which came with kalamata olives, gyro meat, feta cheese and some other stuff. My skillet was super delicious and hit the spot after a hard morning of Pilates. All-in-all I will say that our experience was pretty good. The only complaint I have is at the end when it came time to get (and then pay for) our bill, it took a little over the standard amount of time one would expect. I will give our server the benefit of the doubt as when we were finished with our meal the place did get pretty hoppin.

In coming here, I violated probably the only rule I have about trying new restaurants - I didn't check it out on Yelp first. I completely fell for the concept of all-day breakfast, thinking, really, who can screw up breakfast? Oh, let me tell you, it can be done. I should have known what I was in for when the waitstaff all shared the same, "We don't really want to be here" look on their faces. But...pancakes! French toast! Waffles! At 1:00 on a Friday afternoon! Yay! Many things on the menu sounded good, from the chicken and belgian waffle to the buttermilk biscuits and gravy to the banana bread French toast. I am now pretty sure it is all bad, based on the Swedish pancakes and turkey sausage I ordered. The pancakes tasted like slightly undercooked dough that also managed to be kind of burnt in spots - even the lingonberry sauce couldn't mask this mishap. The turkey sausage came as two flat hockey pucks, with a flavor so strange I'm still not sure it was meat. Because I was starving, having been up since 5:00 am with only a Starbucks pumpkin bread to sustain me, I ate everything - which was hardly anything. It was so unsatisfying, I was practicing my response to the expected, "How was everything?" from my waitress before she got there to clear my plate. I couldn't say, "Good," of course - that was a lie. I could say, "Fine, " or, "Okay," which implied dissatisfaction - but still wasn't true. Or maybe I'd just smile with my eyes? Well, in the end, I didn't have to worry, because she never asked. And I don't chalk that up to bad service. I chalk that up to a realistic perception on her part of the food and experience at this bad restaurant - and for that, I award them 1 more than the single star they otherwise deserve. Bravo, honesty.

What an unfortunate difference a change in location makes. Egg Shell has gained a nice patio and a convenient pay parking lot but has lost a lot in the kitchen. We used to frequent Egg Shell at its former home and even took several out of town guests there over the years. The food was always excellent, portions were always huge, and we had no complaints. We've been to the new location twice now and were thoroughly underwhelmed both times. We went most recently for Sunday brunch. It was around 11:00ish and there were maybe four or five people waiting for a table(s). We told the hostess we'd take the first available table (either inside or outside) and she said it would be about a five minute wait despite the fact that there were several unoccupied tables inside. We did only wait about five minutes and were seated on the patio. Our service on the patio could have been better but the waiter was pleasant and I think the lack of speed in getting everything to our table was due to the kitchen, not our server. The reason we won't be back is the food. I ordered a traditional benedict and Mr. P. had the Sunrise Sandwich. Both meals included the usually divine signature herb potatoes. The vast majority of the potatoes on both our plates were fried to a crisp. Mr. P. reckoned that the delay in getting our food was because they were waiting for the potatoes to finish burning. The poached eggs on my benedict were flat and slightly overcooked and the dish was just ho-hum. Mr. P. felt the same way about his sandwich. To top it all off, there was an extra benedict added to our bill, which took even more time to correct when we were ready to leave. I'm sad to say that we have removed Egg Shell from our list of go-to breakfast places.

This is our "go to" of breakfast spots. There is never a wait even during peak hours on Saturday. We have never sat inside we are always out on the patio. I will agree with others that the service is always sub par but the food is always great. The biscuits and gravy is one of the best I've had. The pancakes are always delicious and the omelets are tasty. It's not a very "hip" place and it's my fancy by any means. But this place is reliable and consistent so it keeps us coming back for more. One strange thing I will say..... We've had to send back our coffee on multiple visits as it is full I soapy bubbles. Kind of strange?

I am from out of town, but we did get the opportunity to visit here as we were staying in the area. After trying to go to the popular Snooze we saw the huge wait and thought well we should try Egg Shell. We went there two days in a row, it was conveniant and the food was real good as well. They have real good Mimosas in all different flavors and the Bloody Marys were very well made compared to others we tried in the area. The ambience is a different story the first day we went there was not so busy since was a week day, but the Saturday was a way different story, a little stuffy, and snobby crowd! But the servers were very good and the food was served quickly so I guess that is what matters most. I go for the food not the crowd, hahhhaa

I was here on a Friday morning, so it wasn't busy. It's a nice, big pleasant space, though the windows face what looks like an indoor mall is a bit off putting. The patio is very nice, however. Several waiters were milling about. I was seated fairly quickly and did get a cup of coffee - and then waited. Eventually I called a waiter over, who looked surprised, then took my order, almost immediately followed by a different waiter who asked if I'd ordered yet. And then I waited again. Eventually an admittedly very good Denver omelet and buttered toast arrived, and I enjoyed it. And then I waited again. And waited. Eventually a third (!) waiter came by and gave me my bill. I had a gift certificate so I gave them that. And waited. And waited. Eventually I decided the remaining value on the gift certificate wasn't something I planned to use. Good food, nice patio, but the organization of service is somewhat lacking.

We decided to disregard the 2.5 stars and give it a try. I can't comment on the food, because we didn't get that far. The restaurant was nearly deserted, 11AM on a Wednesday. We were sat and never approached again, despite the numerous glances from the disengaged staff. After 20 minutes, we left. Went to Syrup and the service was spectacular. Without a serious staff overhaul, this place won't survive. EXTREMELY UNINVITING!

This is not my favorite breakfast spot in the local area... I actually didn't get breakfast at all. The salad was okay and the spicy bloody Mary was good.

New place for us. Fine breakfast dining with a relaxed ambience. Great surroundings. I ordered the trout and eggs which was very tasty and eclectic for breakfast. My wife thought that the accompanying raspberry sauce was delicious. I would bring my family back here.

My original review said I would never go back here. However, the owner of the Egg Shell was kind enough to reach out to me and ask me to give it another chance, his treat. So how could I say no? I got my food carry-out again, so I still can't review the service. But I will say the breakfast quesadilla is very good. Packed full of thick, fluffy eggs and green chiles, it was very filling and satisfying. It normally comes with bacon as well but I requested it without since I do not eat meat. The potatoes still didn't do anything for me though, and breakfast potatoes are a big deal to me. They were at least much softer and easier to bite into this time. But they taste a bit like they're cooked in bacon grease or lard, which I hope isn't the case. I decided to give the Egg Shell 3 stars because the owner was concerned enough about my poor experience to contact me personally, and because I really enjoyed the quesadilla!

Great food, location, and service. However, the drink prices are OUTRAGEOUS! We went there for brunch this morning. My girlfriend paid $9 for a pineapple mimosa and I paid $12 for a Blood Orange mimosa (apparently it was a "specialty mimosa") Mind you these came in small flute style glasses. When there are so many breakfast/brunch locations offering bottomless mimosa's for around $10 we were shocked and appalled at the arrogance of the Eggshell. It is located in Cherry Creek, not Manhattan. Needless to say we will not be back until they change their drink prices.

Despite a power outage that shut down nearby restaurants, The Eggshell was able to serve a delicious iced coffee. Whew!

Great relaxing breakfast place. Loved the atmosphere and food was good. Lattes are wonderful. I also had a bloody marry spicy, it was perfect! The only thing was my order was wrong other then that I would recommend this place.

I have no idea why there are so many negative reviews of this place. Had brunch here Sunday and it was good. I ordered the kitchen sink skillet and others ordered the fried chicken n waffles as well as the potato cakes breakfast. My friend ordered the biscuits and gravy and he wasn't happy with the consistency of the biscuits. Very hard to cut through. Other than that... We enjoyed our time and food.

Okay, I'll start by saying we had lunch not breakfast or brunch. I ordered the Cobb Salad which is an entrée salad. When it arrived my husband asked me why I had ordered a side salad, it was that small. I told him I had ordered the Cobb and then he asked if I had ordered half. Needless to say, I left hungry and it was a $12 salad. He ordered the gyro and it was sliced lunch meat. It was a poor texture and poor flavor. Also the French fries where undercooked and soggy. He upgraded to the truffle oil fries which had no flavor. Very disappointed. I guess our first clue should have been that there was no wait while the rest of the restaurants that we passed had lines out the door. It was during Cherry Creek Arts Festival.

If I am going to pay $12 for an omelet, I expect silverware, napkins and salt & pepper to be on the table. Miserable service, a hostess that can't seat correctly and a server that does not say thank you when you leave. I am going back to Snooze and not coming back here. Which is a shame because the food is good.

  • Peggy C.

First the good news. The space is very pleasant with great light. I had the Denver omelette. It came with a slab of unmelted, cold Gouda cheese just slapped on top. Not only visually strange but inedible. The potatoes were dry, colored with paprika (not by carmelization). The coffee was good but it was $3.25! So for $18 I got a very, very so-so breakfast. Would not recommend this restaurant.

I'm really shocked to see this place has an overall 3.5 stars.. I had a great breakfast here! (With one small exception). The 'Traditional' breakfast of eggs, toast, and home fries was reasonably priced ($7). The eggs were great (and they added cheese for no extra charge), the home fries were AWESOME, and they give you option to swap out toast for an english muffin. Everything was delicious! The only thing I didn't like is that they "buttered" the english muffin for me and it was definitely fake butter. We sat at the bar inside, which was very cute! There's a patio outside, too!

Hmmm, I'm actually quite glad that I didn't see these reviews before going here on Friday! We had a wonderful time and I'm quite surprised at how many negative reviews there are. After looking for a breakfast spot in Cherry Creek, we stumbled upon The Egg Shell. Brightly coloured umbrellas line the patio and the inside portion of the restaurant is huge. There were limited patrons here at 10am, which meant prompt seating and service. I ordered a coffee and was brought a medium sized coffee carafe so I could take care of any refills necessary. I ordered the breakfast burrito and the bf had a cheese omelet. Limited time passed and our food was brought out to us. Everything was nice and hot and delicious. As I see one of the pictures below where I'm typing, I'm instantly hungry as it's exactly what I had. I love the option of white or whole wheat tortillas and pork or turkey green chili with the meal. The tortilla stayed intact, instead of getting mushy and the small sides of lettuce, tomato, and sour cream provided some relief to the mild heat of the chili. After a disappointing Mexican dinner the night before, this was heaven. The cheese omelet went over well and the portion sizes are large enough that neither of us could finish. Overall, I would give this place a chance and will definitely be back on the next Denver trip. The menu is huge with tons of choices and food is fresh and hot.

I have given this place 2 tries, which was one time too many. The first time the food was equivalent to Denny's quality and the service was slow. Second time was worse. Heavy food, poor service, and bad management. Overpriced for what you get. Don't bother - go to Devil's Food, Snooze, Jelly, True Foods, or Gaia for a much better breakfast.

Maybe it was an off day or maybe the servers were just being rude but when there are only TWO other tables inside the entire restaurant and there are 3 tables outside I don't understand at all why you have to a) be rude b) ignore me after taking my order and c) just ruin my morning. Food tasted fine but was slightly cold, english muffin was burnt to a crisp and it took me 10 minutes to flag someone down to get a new one. Ultra annoying. Even more annoying? My server was nowhere to be found, first one server asked if I need something since I was glancing around trying to flag down one of the SIX staff on hand. Then the hostess? manager? came over and did nothing for me. All I wanted was an english muffin that wasn't burnt to eat with my eggs. I think I'm done with the Egg Shell unless someone drags me back, there are plenty of other places to get eggs and good service.

We were fish-tailing our way through the slippery streets of Cherry Creek after Denver got slammed with snow last week. Two friends with very poor timing had flown in from D.C. and we were crazy enough to try to take them out to breakfast. Unfortunately, all our favorite restaurants were closed due to the weather. We were about to give up and hit McDonald's when we skidded past the Egg Shell and saw that it was open. Good enough, we thought. Well, good enough only if there aren't any other options. I ordered an omelet while the others in our group ordered breakfast burritos. The food came out quickly (it probably helped that we were one of three groups who managed to make it out to eat despite the storm). My omelet was the opposite of fluffy and the cheese gooped over the top was only partially melted. Everyone devoured their breakfasts because we were famished, but we were sadly left with that uncomfortable feeling that comes with knowing your meal could have been a lot better, and you just wasted precious spit chewing sub-standard food. An extra star cuz our waiter was a handsome and attentive gent.

I really enjoyed the "kitchen sink" skillet that I ordered -- scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, the whole 9 yards. The potatoes were wonderfully crisp, and the eggs cooked just the way I like them. Very good, and very satisfying.

The food is absolutely amazing! The service was terrible. It took more then 5 minutes for the bartender to approach us, then another 10 minutes to make a bloody Mary. There was only 2 other tables in the establishment. I would love to come back and enjoy their skillets, but they need a new front of the house staff.

After returning to town from a long business trip I grabbed my fashion mags and headed out on a Saturday to have a long solo breakfast. At The Egg Shell I parked myself at the bar and let the bartender take over. Curses to me for not remembering his name, because he was the perfect combination of chatting with me because I was alone, and leaving me alone to be alone. I had a bloody Mary with some homemade concoction of super spicy vodka. That day they were having a special of eggs with chilequiles which were sooo delicious! You have to go here and sit at the bar!

I am really sad to give the Egg Shell such a low rating. I have been going there since I was a kid and it used to be in my top 5 breakfast places in Denver. However, after the new ownership took over maybe two years ago I feel like it's been going downhill on many levels and on Sunday I went there for what I think will be the last time. It is the end of an era for me! On Sunday we arrived around 9:45 and got seated right away in the bar area. Our waitress came by and took our orders and that was fine. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. Until I (and I am TERRIFIED of doing this type of thing) said 'excuse me, can you check on our breakfast?' to the waitress. She said she'd take a look (I think it had been at least half an hour, during which two tables right near us who arrived after we did got their food). 10 minutes later she came back and put our food down without a word. Um, what? The food was fine - I had a Greek omelet with wheat toast and a side of fruit, and the omelet was nicely cooked. It wasn't super thick, and it was almost a little crispy at the edges. The fruit was only about half melon which in my estimation is awesome. After we ate we then waited for our bill for 10-15 more minutes. The waitress brought it and I am really not one to read into waitstaff's behavior but it seemed like she even did that in a resentful way. Maybe she thought she was already getting a bad tip? I don't know. It was definitely the worst service experience I've had in months. I've also noticed the prices creeping up since the new owners took over, so at $27 for two people, it's really not worth it. Sorry, Egg Shell, our time together after 20-plus years is over!

Humm.. Just returned home from breakfast at the Eggs Shell... Looking at the reviews here I am a bit surprised. Almost makes me wonder if someone has it out for them. Nice place, good service , not real busy. I had the Kitchen Sink Skillet and I was very happy with my food. The plate was prepared very well. The spinach was obviously added at the correct time during the preparation , the tomato was firm and still sweet, the potatoes were well cooked and seasoned nicely and the eggs were cooked precisely as I asked. Good coffee as well. I like a lighter roast and this was a little darker than I prefer but not over the top imo. (I tried a dazbog once , dumped it out, I drink Pablo's usually a light roast.) My daughter had the sunrise sandwich and it too was prepared nicely. Whoever was in the kitchen this morning obviously has some talent and knows what they are doing. She also had a chi and said it was good if but a little sweet for her taste. I noticed a customer at another table had the California Benedict and it looked very good and once again looked to be prepared by a person that knows their way around a kitchen.. All in all breakfast was enjoyable, ingredients were fresh, spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms, potatoes, and everything we had was very well prepared. IMO cost is not out of line with the product being served. The portions were quite generous. You can do a lot worse, like stand in line for 45 minutes for a $4.50 single pancake if you know what I mean.. zzz Maybe I was just lucky and happened in on a day when the #1 kitchen staff was there. I will be back for sure to see. jmo: maybe if they would relax the ambiance a bit they would find a larger clientele base... but I do appreciate the fact that they do not expect you to sit in your neighbors lap just to squeeze a few more bucks out of their service...

In town for meetings and the Egg Shell was near the JW Marriott where I staying. A brief walk and I was seated in a pleasant large dining area. I ordered a traditional (2 eggs over medium- potatoes and an English muffin. The coffee was bitter-- the eggs fair ( a little over cooked) -- the potatoes WAY too salty to consume and the jam was a raspberry concoction that was rather tart. Service was reasonable and polite but not friendly..... I should have trusted the other reviewers and looked harder for someplace else.

What a great find! We walked in around 11 am on a Saturday and were seated immediately. Service was great. Ordered biscuits and gravy- to die for, chicken and waffles and a Benedict. The food was great, atmosphere was relaxing. We will definitely return.

I had Kip's favorite here, which was a combination of eggs, meat, potatoes, and cheese. I expected all the ingredients to be separated, but instead they were thrown together in a hash. But you know what? It worked. And for that reason, I like this place. They surprised me, in a good way. The service was good, and on a Sunday morning the wait was 5 minutes. I can do that, and the food is worth it.

I use to come here a lot during college, not so much any more. I can't complain about the food, it's breakfast, it's kind of hard to screw up. I usually get a skillet, the Mexican Star or the Desert Star. Fast, easy and cheap.

I went there when they first started doing their late night menu since they normally closed in the afternoon. Nobody was there so I was greeted right away by a nice hostess that ended up also being our waitress. The price and portion size was just perfect for a late afternoon brunch for burgers and other items. However, they did have rather expensive items on there as well. This place is pretty much a nice and cheap place to go among the tons of expensive posh places on this strip for snobs.

Wow! My family and I just now walked out of this place and will not bother to return. It's upsetting because the food is actually pretty decent here. However, the rudeness of the waitstaff and management simply drove us away. When we walked in the door, we were greeted by a confused guy in glasses. He and who we perceived to be the manager had a somewhat hostile debate right in front of us about "where to stick them". Bewildered, we looked around the room and noticed it wasn't busy at all, so this kind of debate seemed unwarranted. It felt right away that small children were not welcome. The man with the glasses said he would seat us in the atrium, but then led us to an unset table in the middle of the room instead. Before we sat down, he asked an angry looking blonde server if she could "take them". Gruffly, she replied, "That's NOT my table". We sat and waited and waited and waited. Finally, my husband asked the woman who appeared to be the manager, if someone could please take our drink order. The manager rudely answered, "Yeah, we're still trying to figure out who's taking you." She finally did send someone over, but, we'd seen enough, and decided to go someplace else. There is no excuse to treat guests this way. Avoid!

OOOOO those potatoes made me want to give it 5 stars, but I will restrain my pallet from being the only factor... I had never tried this place and probably wouldn't have if I would of read these reviews on here... My experience here on a Sunday was just fine....I was seated promptly, attended to promptly and liked everything I got...did I mention those potatoes? I ordered the salmon benedict, and for kicks a half order of french toast. The beni was PILED high with smoked salmon which was a pleasant surprise, the hollandaise seemed very freshly made and the potatoes...I am just seriously in love. Its like they're not just fried, its like maybe they baked or boiled them a bit before frying them, they are soooo light and fluffy inside each deep fried bite of heaven...oh God let me stop becuase I had to punish myself at the gym the next day..but anyway....I had to go back to work but saw the couple next to me enjoy like a million flavors of bottomless Mimosas and i was very jealous...very. For the price of those I was sold....melon...blueberry...something or another every 15 minutes really made me want to quit my job right then and there. The servers I did notice seem a little too intense for a breakfast shop..maybe they got yelled at for all these reviews lol...but I had several servers keep an eye on me when my server was busy or away, and thats good service if you ask me..team work. I could say the prices are leaning on the slightly high end of breakfast, but I just chalked it up to being Cherry Creek North, where a t shirt could set you back a few hundred bux and so if breakfast indulgances set you back around $25?... did I mention Cherry Creek? Im pretty sure I will be back when I get a little extra spending money...oh and when I don't have to go back to work...oh and when I'm taking a taxi lol

I'm surprised by the bad reviews. My experience at Egg Shell was outstanding and I will go back again. The service was great. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the beautiful weather. There was no wait. Their breakfast potatoes are some of the best I've ever had and they alone will bring me back. I would recommend Egg Shell and I plan on taking out-of-town guests there.

Read the reviews, but still checked it out. Atmosphere was good. Busy on a Sunday morning, to be expected. Initial wait was a bit long, but the waiter was running his tail off, very nice and apologetic. When we asked for something he literally RAN back to get it. Good kid. Menu is extensive. I thought the food was pretty decent. I didn't see any of the things from other reviews - however, I'm a sample-size of one. Overall, service was a bit slow (not the staff's fault), but the experience was good. We'll give it another go sometime soon... :)

Good god this place was horrible!!! More or less, everything was inedible, I had a free meal & couldn't even eat it. Believe it or not, the service was even worse than the food, it took 20 minutes after the food arrived just to get silverware & I ordered coffee with cream & sugar when we first arrived and had to get creative mixing it due to the disappearing waiter. If the politically powerful eat here we are all really doomed, especially if they don't know that the awful house, or I-plop have better coffee for half the price & their fries don't taste like they were reheated from last night's dinner rush.

Tucked away in Cherry Creek North, the Egg Shell is a pretty good place to grab a hearty breakfast or brunch with friends. When my sister and I went there it was pretty dead but the dining room is spacious with an ample patio on Filmore street. I ordered the breakfast quesadilla, which was good but not nearly spicy enough for me, even after I drenched it in hot sauce. My sister got the granola French toast, a better choice than mine I think because it was unique to the establishment. They took a croissant, rolled it in granola, then made it into French toast. I don't want to know the calorie count but it was very tasty. Like most breakfast/brunch places, the Egg Shell seems to be one of those places that has their regulars and has an older clientele, making it good place to take the family to or maybe nurse a hangover in their quiet, calm atmosphere.

Beautiful patio seating this past weekend, but that was it. My server got my order wrong (she was very apologetic), then brought me the correct plate that had been sitting under a heat lamp in the kitchen for 15 minutes or so (and my server admitted this). Tasted absolutely terrible, and it's pretty hard to mess up breakfast IMO. I should have sent it back, but everyone else was almost done with their meal and I had lost my appetite. I won't go back.

Mediocre at best. Presentation was okay but food did not live up to the description. I had the ultimate chicken sandwich.

1st timer & not a good experience - eggs cooked poorly, ingredients left out of an omelet, wrong side & our bill was messed up (charged incorrectly) - definitely won't return

Two stars= VERY generous. Its only bc the food is actually good. Just got back from breakfast with out of town friends. The service was HORRIBLE for the second time in a row. Friend is a veggie. Made sure what she ordered was veggie. Was assured it was by our waiter. Started to eat her meal and discovered meat. Waiter insisted it was veggie until we pointed out all of the meat in the green chili sauce. Only offered one fill up of water. Had to continuously ask for more water. Asked for assistance from another waitress who was VERY annoyed we asked for water. Was never offered refill of coffee. Asked for refill of coffee...never came. Hostess was flustered and we waited about 10 min (with 5 other parties) before we could even put our name on the list. PLENTY of empty tables. What was quick? The service when it came to clearing our table and giving us a check. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE SERVICE. Never will I go here again. PLENTY of brunch and breakfast places in town to choose from where the food is as good or better. Back to my faithful Snooze that never fails to impress on food or service.

Reading some reviews before I ate there today made me nervous - I was expecting mediocre food and slow service. Perhaps it's that way on the weekend, but for a mid-week morning meeting I found the Egg Shell to be yummy, quick and convenient! I had a California Benedict with the sauce on the side. It could have been a bit hotter, but the fruit was great (substituted instead of potatoes) and the avocado portions were generous. The coffee was hot, the water kept flowing and the service was speedy. Overall, I can see how it might fall short on a weekend, but I am glad I found it and do plan to suggest future breakfast meetings at that spot.

I have visited this place 3 separate times for breakfast and each time the service wasn't that great. The wait staff seem friendly enough it's just that the food takes forever to come out. There was even one time where my friend's first omelet went to another table by accident, the waitress was apologetic enough but when she brought out the replacement, it was the wrong omelet. By the time she got her 3rd replacement we had to leave and she didn't have enough time to eat it. The worse part is that they didn't even offer to comp it for her.

Real nice place with a great patio. The services was amazing. The kitchen was a little slow but our server was very polite and made it extremely enjoyable. (i believe his name was Mike). The food was good but just took awhile. We will def go back but I'm going to request to sit in Mike's section.

Wow, you can sit down right away and get food served to you eventually!!! Other than that I cannot stand this place!!! I have given it 2 chances and both times I had the worst service ever and the food is very mediocre for what they're charging. Sorry, the only thing special about this place is their location.

  • Pedro S.

AVOID!!! This place feels SNOOTY and is POORLY MANAGED. We waited 45 minutes for a table with NOBODY ELSE AROUND. When I confronted the manager, she rudely told us she was too busy. The typical loser manager who knows she's bad, but will still go out of her way to ruin your day. The waitress was -- oh my god - RUDE as well. No surprise. From start to finish, she ignored us completely. The food was cold and the eggs were not so fresh. We left in disgust and actually ended up down the street at Zaidy's (MUCH better). By the way, due to the street location at the Egg Shell, parking is TERRIBLE.

The food was great but the service was terrible. It took forever to get our food and our check. The staff was really nice but I think they were just seriously under-staffed. One couple stormed out saying "just so you know, we were never served." So unless you have a lot of time to spend here I wouldn't go.

The worst breakfast service I have ever experienced. It was so bad, It's hard to figure out where to start. Here's the short version. Our two-top table waited over an hour and half and did not receive our food order. When we asked to speak to the manager we got the run around and were eventually told that there was no designated manager on duty and they were "splitting manager duty" amongst a couple people. Even after repeated time checks for our meal they were unable to give a reasonable time expectation. Eventually our patience had run out waiting for any kind of sustenance to show up so we got up, thanked our server (she was the only staff member that seemed truly concerned with our situation), tipped her $10, and walked to chipotle. Everyone else sitting on the patio waited at least an hour and 15 minutes and the table next to us received an undercooked order after waiting all that time. The "hostess" told me that the owner had been called and advised of the "situation". The owner should know that they lost two local neighborhood frequent customers because of today's failure. again, a nice and competent server with zero staff backing her up.

I ordered a small of OJ in a large glass, topped up with soda water out of the gun. I got a small OJ and a large glass of soda water, both brimming--not easy to mix, but I didn't say anything. The waiter came to take our order, not having brought us menus. My poached eggs were over easy, a single flat disk. My sourdough toast was made from white bread. "Housemade" preserves had no discernible flavor. Waiter asked if we wanted anything else, we said no. Over the next twenty minutes or so he came out to the patio, but avoided our table. We finally gave up, put some cash on the table, and left. Won't be back.

Horrible! My mom and I used to eat breakfast here when I was little and I loved it. Now that I moved back to the neighborhood, I've gone on three separate occasions and each time the service has been terrible. Actually, beyond terrible! The first two times I justified it as an off day, this last time however I made the decision (as my blood was boiling) that I would never go back and furthermore that I would write a Yelp review once I calmed down. It all began with my waiter begrudgingly coming to my table and slamming a glass of water down. He later brought my coffee and immediately walked away with such hostility. His attitude was so surprising I didn't have time to realize that I didn't have cream or sugar. I looked around the room and noticed that ALL the servers, including the hostess and bartender were MIA. After about 10 minutes they came out from the kitchen. Several minutes passed before he even approached my area. When I finally caught his attention, he actually rolled his eyes at me! He brought my skillet out and rushed off again, and of course I realized that I didn't have salt, pepper, hot sauce or water at my table. And yes, again, he was off along with all of the other servers. New customers were coming in and there was no one to great them. I stood by the bar for about five minutes before the staff came out again. And this time when they did, they raced to the TV to watch the Patriots game. And the new customers were waiting. Part of the reason why I go to breakfast, is to treat myself to not having to cook and also, to get pamper a little. I will never go back to this place, which is unfortunate because they have really good food. The service however is killing it. (And I'm still wondering - why were they all going to the kitchen for so long?)

Ok, so its a decent place to get breakfast--but nothing more than that. I guess maybe I have something against places that use vinyl tablecloths. The natural light from the wall of windows was really nice, but other than that the atmosphere was nothing different than something like The Egg and I. It was all one large dining room with tightly packed tables. I ordered a skillet which was good, but again, nothing more than that. I like their potatoes and I like that they offer several different breads for toast. The skillet I had contained spinach, tomatoes and mushrooms. Those parts were yummy but it was the herbed cream cheese that messed it up for me. My runny yolk on the top didn't taste great with the cream cheese. I'd advise against that skillet if you want runny yolks--maybe scrambled eggs would have been alright. Our server was kind and helpful--no complaints there. I probably won't be back though.

One word: HORRIBLE. We waited 1.5 hours for our food and when we receieved it, it was unedible. During our 1.5 hour wait we were not approached by management or provided a single apology for out wait from anyone other than the bartender. I am only giving this establishement one star because I have to do so in order to write this reveiw.

My husband & I ate breakfast there this weekend, and I was sorely disappointed. I wasn't terribly hungry, but was craving something sweet. So I ordered a blueberry muffin and a mug of hot chocolate. I can honestly say that was the single worst muffin and hot chocolate I have ever had. The muffin was dry and tasteless, and the hot chocolate was clearly made from a powder, and it tasted just plain terrible. I don't understand why a restaurant would go out of its way to have this gigantic menu if they aren't going to make EVERY SINGLE item on that menu great. I cannot stand it when certain items on a menu are an afterthought. Just b/c all I want is a muffin and hot chocolate doesn't mean I don't want a GOOD muffin and real, homemade hot chocolate. It was a real waste of our money, which is beyond annoying when you go out to eat.

I brought my brother hear to cure our Saturday Football Hangover. The food is great, but the fact that it took 40 min. to get our food is why I gave my review 2 stars. They have coffee waiting for the people on the wait list, and they brought us rice crispy treats to tide us over. I just don't eat sweets that early. I think toast or muffins would have been more appropriate.

The Eggshell is by far, my favorite breakfast place in Denver. We've been going there for over 20 yrs, and if I am not mistaken, there have only been 2 owners. The selection is good, food delicious and the price is right!

Very slow service on a not-very busy Sunday afternoon made what would have been a nice place somewhere that just left me frustrated and with a poor brunch. I ordered the smoked salmon benedict.... after waiting about 40+ minutes for it to arrive, it clearly had been sitting under a heat lamp for quite some time - the hollandaise had a skin on it, the poached eggs had solid yolks and the smoked salmon was cooked through. If they got their act together, this could be a nice place to have brunch.

    (2)
  • Eddie H.

First, the service was pretty bad. Second the prices were borderline overpriced. Third, a dish that was supposed to come with avocado, had no avocado. Apparently the kitchen forgot. Fourth, and in my mind the most unforgivable, the "hollandaise sauce" tasted like it came out of a package, which is absolutely unacceptable. Despite the fact that it's a 10 minute walk from my home, I'm in no hurry to go back, which is a shame because the restaurant itself is quite nice.

  • l t.

Overpriced. It cost me $18 for breakfast an omelet when I asked them for no potatoes, no bread. They charged me $3.25 for a spoonful of cottage cheese. Food is overpriced and nothing to write home about. Will not go back. Do not recommend.

Yikes, been by this place several times and decided to stop in and check it out. Big mistake. Dining room looks nice but that is the extent of the positives. Service very, very slow. Had to chase down our waitron unit for original coffee order and bottomless mimosa (trust me you will see the bottom). Waffle and chicken special was cold and the waffle was way overlooked and dry served without butter but never saw our waiter to ask. Wife ordered chicken and egg, cold and inedible. Bill was over $40. Better places in Cherry Creek north

I was not overly impressed with the Eggshell. It's nestled in the garden level of Cherry creek with very limited windows and seating. The food was a poor rendition of diner food. If you're looking for somewhere quaint (very much lacking in ambiance) with moderate service and food, you've found it.

Ifound the other reviews far too critical with the exception of Lori who was pretty much right on. If you want great food, great service a d clean and bright this is for you. Amazing non greasy with large portions of every imaginal breakfast food you could want. Yes you do have to wait to be seated but with great food at the right price it's no wonder.

I recently went to the Eggshell for a birthday weekend celebration. We sat at the bar and had EXCELLENT service from our bartender. He was incredibly busy but was still very attentive to all of our needs in a timely manner. The food was great. My only complaint is that the rest of the staff made all of us very uncomfortable every time they came to the bar for drink orders. They would just stare at our party of 6 and I found it very rude. But other than that, A+!

The Eggshell leaves a lot to be desired. The food isn't bad, but it isn't great by any stretch. The service is okay. The crowd is a strange mix of families, yuppies, and hungover DU kids. Have fun!

I walked in to pick up lunch to take to my work a block away. I stood by the bar and nobody was there to even acknowledge me. I waited a few minutes just in case someone had just stepped away. The owner was at one of the tables against the wall on her computer and she couldn't care less that I was standing there. After 10 minutes, I couldn't even find a menu much less find someone to tell my order to. The owner actually walked past me 3 times without any desire to acknowledge me. I am a professional woman who works in Cherry Crteek North. The owner walked past me again back to her computer. Finally I grabbed one of the waitresses and asked her for a menu. She handed me one and then got lost again for another 10 minutes even though I told her that I just wanted soup and sandwich to take out. I basically went back to work and warned all of my employees what terrible service they have. Terrible food reviews too.

So, I have been having this craving for pancakes and waffles w/eggs. Last weekend we ate there, I ordered the dish with eggs, sausage, and pancakes. The pancakes were very dry and flaky and seemed like they forgot to add milk and eggs to the batter. They fell apart every time I tried to take a bite of them. This weekend, we went back and I ordered the same dish and asked if I could substitute french toast for the pancakes... the server came back and said it would be $3 extra. So, I asked for a waffle instead. The server came back and said it was $3.50 extra. Ugh... I definitely did not want the dry pancakes again so I ordered a simple egg breakfast with sausage and potatoes and toast. My boyfriend ordered the breakfast sandwich. After 20 minutes later, my food came out first. Then 10 minutes later the breakfast sandwich came out, with the wrong side... fries instead of potatoes. The server apologized and said the kitchen was confused and brought him the potatoes. So after all that, I would've rather gone to Ihop and gotten my damn pancakes!!!
