Best authentic Mexican food! The Colorado Burrito is the best!

You cannot go wrong at Tacos Rapidos! Great portions... large burritos. One of my favorite places to go for quick Mexican food and delicious Carne Asada fries.

My son was on his way home late at night and asked if I wanted something from Wendy's, where he planned to stop. "Yeah," I responded half asleep, "bring me something good." Blessings on him for stopping at Tacos Rapidos instead. He got super nachos, a carne asada burrito, and a selection of flautas. The flautas looked pretty but had hardly any filling in them. They were topped with plenty of guacamole and cheese, and the ones that survived the night in the fridge were still crispy the next day. Okay so far. But oh, those super nachos and ah, that burrito. The chips in the nachos stayed crisp despite being inundated with marinated steak and cheese. Rounding out the toppings were refried beans, sour cream, and guacamole. Fantastico. The burrito was stuffed with the same delicious marinated steak and guacamole -- no beans. The carne asada was delicious. It's all I can do to restrain myself from zipping over there right now to order more.

Mexican fast food that definitely hits the spot! We ordered CARNE ASADA FRIES, carne asada burrito, and chile relleno. So good especially for something that is fast food.

New Location! Horray! Same, exact, amazingly good food, but closer to downtown. Oh, and good news! They have an indoor seating area. No more standing outside, in the snow, waiting to get your food and eat it in your car. Not that this is bad, it is kind of part of the charm. However, tonight it was a very welcome addition. The location on Evans will continue to be the icon that it has become for my husband and I. It will be visited regularly, but it sure is nice having one closer to home. Just one more reason to love some Rapidos.

  • Celeste M.

Definitely better service the the other one off of Evans , portions are plentiful for price and delicious!

Screw truffled fries and lobster mac-n-cheese. The carne asada fries from Tacos Rapidos are my guilty pleasure. French fries topped with chopped carne asada, cheese, sour cream, green chile, and an obscene amount of guacamole. Throw on a couple pickled jalapenos and carrots from the salsa bar, and don't forget to grab some salsa. Chairs that are permanently affixed to the floor, and squeaky plastic booths remind me of sitting at the kid's table at Thanksgiving. They are open 24x7. This place is in a so-so neighborhood. The building hasn't been updated since, well.... I don't think it's ever been updated. At least it's clean. You'll get over all that when the first bite hits your mouth. If not, that's why god invented drive-through. Do yourself a favor. Put on your fat pants and get over there.

My new spot for mexican food. Open all day, every day; Huge portions; Cheap; Fresh green salsa; Spicy red salsa; & bonkers delish. What more could one ask for!? Def. try the Carne Asada Fries!!

  • Yvonne C.

Finally! A place with amazing and flavorful carne asada that is not smothered in green chili. Jared and I decided to go here after a long day of snow boarding and we over ordered...slightly. A lot, actually. We ordered a carne asada burrito, carne asada chips (if only they had fries!!!), the carnitas burrito, and a chicken taco. We ate this for a few meals, thankfully, but I will need to exert a significant amount of self control to keep myself away from this place. This place reminds me of the Mexican food places in So Cal and I can see myself coming here more than I should. This place is so not going to help with my 2011 weight loss goals.

  • Dan N.

I'll just add to the growing positive comments by saying that this is as authentic as a fast food Mex place can get in Denver. The carnitas burrito is less than $5 and you get a giant homemade tortilla stuffed with perfectly seasoned steak, fresh guacamole and pico de gallo. No rice fillers here. They'll add beans and cheese for a little extra but why ruin a great thing, Hombre? It's a pretty basic place and service is quick. Chipotle and it's rip-off cousin Q'doo-doo are pretty much set on their food profiles so they'll never match this place. Just hope that if Tacos Rapidos decides to take it to the next level, they do it very slowly and methodically so as not to lose the good flavors. Andale, pues!

  • Joanne K.

I'd give this spot 5 stars if it weren't for the window people being a little abrupt sometimes, maybe they're just tired of drunks as this place gets hopping when the bars let out. For good reason, great burritos. Try the colorado, it kills.

    (4)
  • Jared L.

Drive thru real mexican food? Wow! The spicy means spicy and the breakfast burritos are great! Try this place if you are looking for the best d*mned mexican drive thru in town!

  • Andrea B.

Since I'm living in the 'burbs right now (boo), there tends to be a lack of good Mexican food down here. As much as I love Qdoba, it just doesn't cut it when you get that craving. Lucky for me, Tacos Rapidos is on my commute home, for when I get a hankerin'. And it has a drive-through - Woot! p.s. I don't recommend the crispy beef taco, it's just your run-of-the-mill boring, but everything else is awesome. Yummy yummy stuff. The red and green sauces are fab, as well.

    (4)
  • jon b.

Get the cheese quesadilla and a side of pico de gallo. 1 star off because I got bad beans once. But goooo foooo!

  • Kyle B.

If you are looking for a burrito that doesn't need sloppy smothering to make up for what it lacks this is it. I lived in San Diego for 10 years and have been scouring this town endlessly for a decent burrito that wasn't open-ended or smothered. Their carne asada is legit, and their Colorado Burrito is as close to San Diego as it gets. If burritos are what you seek, look no further.

  • Thor C.

I've been to this location several times. If I'm around that area I'll drive thru for a carne asada burrito. Mostly meat with some guacamole and pico de gallo. I haven't met a burrito there I didn't like. Good juicy chicken, lengua (beef tongue), carnitas, not to mention the carne asada! I tried a chicken tostada today along with my CAB. Biggest tostada I've ever had. The chicken was plentiful, juicy, and tasty, the only down side to that was the "shell" was definitely a store bought tostada, and not fried on the spot. I still ate it all, though, and I'm stuffed! -Stay away from the "rolled tacos." These are grocery store variety taquitos. That was my one experience with those, and I won't try those again. The carne asada fries are definitely worth a try!! Mmmmmmmmm.

You would think that because this place is open 24 hours, it'd be an indication that it's drunk people food, but you'd be wrong. They don't screw around, they do it right. Pictures of food exactly as it'll be served to you. Sauces are amazing too. I suggest the Colorado Burrito. These burritos are beasts- you'll get a couple meals out of one of them. Don't pass up the opportunity to order some delicious drinks you normally don't get the option of- pineapple, mango, and coconut drinks are included as soda choices.

    (5)
  • Kay R.

I always get a chicken quesadilla. It's super tasty! I hear the burritos are awesome as well!

Fast. Tacos. The name really says it all. Ok but I'll tell you a little more. Cheap American-ized Mexican food with some more authentic and traditional specialties mixed in. Their tortas are fantastic, and their street tacos are nothing to sneeze at either. The best part though? They're open 24/7, so it's a perfect post-bar 3 AM cheap and delicious meal. Just gotta find someone to drive you there...

Fries + beans + green chile = four stars. Crazy delicious.

  • Junam L.

This is a real hole in the wall place. They have exact same menu as Albertacos down in Colorado Springs, and they both taste exactly the same. No difference. I usually get breakfast burrito with large horchata. I love drinking horchata! Although they are not freshly made, but that doesn't bother me as much. I haven't been there since February because I got really sick after eating their breakfast burrito. I don't know if they under cooked the eggs, potatoes, or bacon but I got really, really sick. I want to try to avoid eating at this place for a while. If you do end up going there, make sure the meats are cooked thoroughly or else you'll end up getting sick.

I found the Calimex food! Thought I was going to go crazy without it... I had carne asada fries and a bean and cheese burrito that me & the bf split. bean and cheese hit the spot. It was hot and gooey and made just right. Carne asada fries were good, but not great... a little on the salty side, but still very tasty. did I mention they are open 24 hours? yes! I will definitely be back.

  • Doug Y.

My cursor jumped back and forth between three and four stars several times before I clicked on the four stars! This is what I think of as more what my friend Matt P calls San Diego style mex as opposed to Colorado chicano mex or Mexicano mex food and as such of the places I've tried with SD style food I give them a 4 star. In the hierarchy of Denver mex food though I'd give them a three. I guess what prompted the higher rating is the "open 24 hours" factor. I've had breakfast burritos, tacos, tortas, and carne asada fries from here and they were all pretty tasty! I used to eat at their W. Evans location fairly often and I think I might prefer that location's flavor a little bit more but this location is closer, has seating, and is newer so when I need a late night Cali mex fix. Here I'll be. (numero cuatro)

  • Crystal F.

I drove up to the drive thru, a guy says "what can I get you?" Not 'good morning', not 'hi there', just "what can I get you?" I got the number 3, the cheese enchilada plate. What i got was cold shredded cheese in a room temperature tortilla. I also got a side of quacamole and I could tell it came from a bag. It was so disappointing! I will try it again, but this experience was highly disappointing.

Tacos Rapidos is the lighthouse of the food culture of Federal Blvd., if only because it is open 24 hours. I personally have taken many late night trips to this Denver institution. It is appropriate for it to be allowed as the standard bearer for my exploration of of Denver's food Mecca. As for ambiance, you are clearly among the people, and while sitting at the well-worn eating benches in front of the restaurant, it is common to hear various versions of boom-tick trunk music. For the price (~$2.50-3/TACO), you certainly get value. For people who claim to deliver "La Mejor Comida Rapida," the asada is both the main event and the sideshow; cilantro and onions simply season the steak. The corn tortillas are thoughtfully protected from the juiciness of the asada by a barrier of guacamole. I was surprised and refreshed to find the chicken TACO in the more traditional "gringo" style. Large chunks of cut chicken are housed in a crispy shell, with shredded cheese, julienne lettuce and diced tomatoes. I was amply provided with colorful, yet indistinguishable salsas. The red and green salsas were overly viscous and provided little flavor, although they did provide some heat. Overall, Tacos Rapidos provides a simple and forgetable TACO-eating experience, and may be enjoyed for its consistency.

I have been eating here for years and at this location since it opened. I love the Chiles relleno burrito. Today I ordered one, waited 20 minutes in the drive thru with one car ahead of me at about 3:40 pm. The price is $ 4.60 + tax. I was told at the window the total was $5.97. I asked the young man several times how could it be $1.37 in tax. He told me that was the price. There is some scamming going on here, and I'm not automatically giving you $1 tip. The service was slow and gratuity is earned. I have always left money in the tip jar, but apparently no one is over seeing what's going on here. I did not pay it and got my money back. What a waste of my time and the owner's food costs.

I love this place. Sure it's a divey looking drive thru (with some tables inside), but they turn out some great tacos and burritos. They do a very classic baja style fish taco, that always hits the spot. Some of my other favs are the rolled tacos with guac and the bean burrito. The bean burrito is really how I judge a place like this. If you can't make that great, then I question the rest. But, no need to worry because Taco's Rapidos make a great one. Awesome tortilla warmed on the grill - the tortilla is such a key component and the wrong tortilla can ruin the burrito. But don't worry, not here. Then filled with their yummy refried beans and a handful of salsas in the bag to drown your burrito in. Add cheese or onions if you like, it's great with both. You have to love a place that looks like such a dive, but yet you can see pots simmering away on the stove as you wait at the window for your order. And while the name is Tacos Rapidos is can be a little slow on a busy night, but it's worth the wait. Oh yeah and drive thru is open 24 hours if you need a late night fix... or are just hoping to sober up a little ;)

Yeah, it looks like a dump ....... BUT ... Yeah, the gal behind the counter has a big butt ....... BUT ....... They've got the absolute best Grilled Chicken Burritos anywhere. Stuffed with tons of tongue tantalizing tasty grilled chicken. I have them add guacamole + green sauce. Mamacita!!! Speaking "of" tongue, as opposed to speaking "in" tongues ....... The Lengua Burritos are equaling enchanting. Amazing what some folks can do with their tongues, and that holds true here. On Thanksgiving night, we were jonesing for Mexican food. They were open. Woo Hoo. They are not close to us, yet we make the pilgrimage at least once a week.

It's open 24 hours, and it's definitely a better choice than the usual Fast Food places to grab a quick Nosh at Night. The staff was friendly (I went in since I'd never been there before and wanted to peruse the Menu Board.) For around $5, you can get a combo plate with beans and rice and your choice of entree. I sampled the Carne Asada and Peppers Burrito and a Cheese Enchilada. I sampled some of their Spicy Salsa Verde (Which I preferred to their Salsa Roja) and some Guacamole, too. I took it home, and even with my late night, I'm hungry, get home quick driving, it held up well. (See photo.) Still warm, not soggy. I liked the texture of their flour tortillas, and I want to go back and try a Carne Asada Quesadilla and some rolled tacos. I enjoyed it. Is it the best Mexican food I've ever had? No way. But are they open all night, clean, friendly, and pretty darn decent? You betcha.

  • Janetce R.

Absolutely love this place. They are always fast and friendly. There carne asada fries are the best ever!

    (5)
  • Matt A.

Not necessarily rapido (it always seems they start making my call in order when I show up to pick it up), but it is delicious. Breakfast burritos and carne asada fries are the picks here.

  • Courtney D.

So bummed. Tired, got off work, wanted to grab food. First off the lady was pretty rude... But hey I've worked in food, so I can understand, but it seems like they're always pretty rude to be honest. Anyway, ordered chorizo and eggs burrito. Halfway through...eggshell. Gross. The one of Evans is nicer and I have never had that problem there! Seriously? Eggshell? Gross...and I'm talking BIG, NOTICEABLE chunks of eggshell. I had to wash out my mouth because it was kind of like chewing sand.

  • Denver B.

Lots of hulla-ballu over the food here. It's ok, nothing special for regular Mexican or Tex Mex or Cali Mex... probably voted highly when people were in need of a food fix when they're drunk, recovering from a drunk or just plain old stoned! The portions are ample but I never have been impressed with their 'smothered' option. Not much smothering goes on! If you like meat, you'll love this taco shack. I've had better and worse. El Taco De Mexico is much better and preferable to Rapidos. Don't get me wrong... Rapidos is good but all the five star reviews... like I said... they must have been written by folks while they were stoned or drunk! LOL!

So, when you want greasy tacos fast...excuse me - rapidos, then this is your go to spot. Truly a fast paced, late night eatery, Tacos Rapidos makes some mean burritos stuffed to the brim with all the greasy essentials: rice, beans, meat, peppers, and so on. The most interesting and perhaps most gluttonous item on the menu has to be the french fries smothered in all things nacho. We are talking ground seasoned beer, sour cream, chives. Basically the fries constitute the chips. Good at the time, but makes you feel real bad about yourself in the morning. Let's just say it hits the drunk/hungover proverbial spot. I am not so sure if this is your normal or nutritious lunch or dinner destination. But, damn, is it fast or what?

We like, We like it so much... I suggest to Hubs about Tacos Rapidos, since one, they are open late, and two its along the way to be back home from the other side of town. Was here with Hubs on Friday Evening April 6th 2012. Time was about 21:15hrs ish. Yes, you order at the counter, and wait for abit for your order to be done. They will call either your name or the order you opt for. You take salsa or jalapenos from the "self-service" counter just next to where you order your food. From the MENU above the Order Counter, there are plenty to choose. So these were what I could recall we ordered that eveing : * #18 Carne Asada Burritos with Rice and Beans (Hubs Order) ($7.25) * Fish Tacos ($2.60) * Lengua Tacos ($2.60) * Carne Asada Tacos ($2.60) Like about 10 to 15 minutes of wait time, our order was ready for our hungry rumbling tummy. Man, when I look at Hubs order, that #18 Carne Asada Burritos looks "massive". After the evening, Hubs told me, he liked the #18 Carne Asada Burritos he ate. As for me, the portions are huge. I decide to eat, the Fish and Carne Asadas Tacos at Tacos Rapidos, while I packed the Lengua Tacos to go. Man, just with those two tacos, actually turns to be "4" tacos, was indeed filling for my tummy. I also like the 2 salsa sauces, which is SPICY for my taste bud. When the next day, I ate the Lengua Tacos, I like it. Just "nuke" it in the microwave for 1 minute, and ate it. Hubs was right, since he suggested to me, to eat the Lengua Tacos the last, and definitely, it was the "BEST" from the tacos, I ordered from Tacos Rapidos. Parking is available though slightly "limited" at this Tacos Rapidos. There is also a drive-thru and ample of seating areas in the Tacos Rapidos itself, in which we decide to dine in that evening. The dining area in Tacos Rapidos is indeed kept clean. From all the "loot" we ordered the total bill, with beverages was less than $20 with tax and tips, and we left Tacos Rapidos, belly/tummy happy. The prices of the food are worth to the portions we received that evening. DEFINITELY Potential of many returns, to try other food from the massive menu. @63/2012

Tacos Rapidos is the best Mexican fast food in Denver! I recommend the Colorado burrito or the Lengua Tacos washed down with their delicious Horchata. Whenever we come back to Denver from the East Coast, Tacos Rapidos is literally the first place we go.

  • Jenn M.

I love the potato, egg and cheese burrito here. The only improvement would be to add fresh green chili in the burrito. They seem to make it fresh which is great on taste but tough if you are in a hurry. Ordering in through the drive through is a bit of an inconvenience. Not sure if it's due to a bad headset or a language barrier but sometimes we end up with a wrong order or double our order.

As others, I too am from San Diego. This place is good ol shack. Only place around that I could find a real shrimp burrito. Big Burrito in Arvade has better carne asada meat and beans but them or ralibertos do not offer shrimp.

Just moved to the neighborhood. Got a hankering for something to eat and you fellow yelpers did God's work by making this place sound great. I got one beef taco which was a hard shell with some veggies cheese, pico and a ton of shredded beef. No ground fake beef mixture here. I also got a carnitas soft taco which came with two tortillas and enough pork and fixings to roll 2 huge tacos. So stuffed in fact I ate a mini taco salad out of what fell out. Both the red hot sauce and the green were great, could have used some more heat. But for that amount of good food for less than 6 bucks I'll be back!

I am still a fan.. But this place can be VERY VERY slow.. Just keep that in mind when it's 2 am and you are STARVING!! Or at least you think you are :)

Carne asada fries were delicious! My fries came with Guacamole, cheese, sour cream, carne asada and of course fries. Everything was nicely balanced out it wasn't too much of a certain ingredient and it was so yummy! I've also had the yummy breakfast burritos here as well which consisted of egg, sausage, potato, and cheese. I highly recommend this restaurant and I'm sure anything on the menu would taste just as good.

I am so disappointed with my visit to this drive-thru. I'd been running errands all day and desperately needed a quick bite to eat. I passed this place while headed west on Alameda and remembered the positive reviews I'd read on Yelp. Surely they have something I can eat, I thought to myself, so I headed back to try it out. Problem #1: For a place that touts itself as an affordable 24-hour drive thru, you'd think they'd invest a little bit of money into making the menu board easy to read. Well, they haven't. The board is extremely difficult to read because they have so many menu options (not a bad thing) crowded on there. To top it off, they picked a horrible font. I know it sounds like I'm being unnecessarily picky but I struggled for awhile trying to make sense of it all. This leads me to: Problem #2: The girl asks me through the speaker, "what can I help you with?" I asked her to hold for just a second because I was trying to find a vegetarian item to order and meatless options were not clearly marked. She says okay. I continue to squint at the board until I finally locate cheese enchiladas. "I'm ready." I announced. "I would like to order two cheese enchiladas. She says okay. I pull forward and patiently wait for my meal to be prepared. Finally, she hands me a bag with a styrofoam container and some plastic utensils. I drive off, starving, headed toward my next errand. When I finally stop to eat. I am blown away that I did not get cheese enchiladas at all. Instead there are two gargantuan pork-filled enchiladas. I can't do a damn thing with these. I'm starving and I just wasted my money. I'm dumbfounded by the confusion. If there is one thing I do well, it's annunciate clearly. How you confuse "cheese" and "pork" is beyond me. Besides, didn't I tell you I wanted a meatless option? Whatever, Tacos Rapidos. In addition to me not having the time, the pork enchiladas didn't even look good enough for me to go back and have you correct the problem. Done.

Not a big fan. Their breakfast burritos were certainly no better than all the hundreds of other breakfast burritos you could find in a five to ten mile radius. In fact they are worse, particularly the burritos with chorizo -- the latter of which came out burned to a literal crisp. Come on, take some pride in your product. They also serve the drive-thru patrons before the customers who actually, you know, get out of their cars and walk into the establishment. This is annoying. Waiting in line to give your order while MULTIPLE cars (most of which pulled up after you walked in) pull through and order is bad business and rude. Good rule of thumb? People who walk in should get priority. And as for the restaurant? Depressing and low rent. Last, having your cooks eat openly in front of waiting customers (because you're still serving the drive-thru!) is unprofessional and potentially unhygienic. Are these same cooks then turning around and using their hands to roll my burrito? Gross. Guess who won't be back? Me!

I have yet to experience anything rapidos out of this place, but your safest bet is a shorter wait in drive through. Food is what you'd expect, but at 5x the price of the Taco Bell late night menu. I'm certainly between two and three stars here, just because the food is relatively okay, but the service has never been impressive enough to give it a 3.

From the outside there isn't much to make this place appealing to eat at but the food will make anyone forget the appearance of the restaurant. When first entering the restaurant there isn't much but a small dining area and the counter at which the food will be ordered. Everything is just simple from the dining area all the way to the menu. The menu isn't like any other menus you will see today because they don't have many pictures, its just mostly words so all the trust is put into the cooks to make an exceptional meal. I have eaten at many Mexican restaurants and this place is nothing like the others, in a good way. Tacos Rapidos is a restaurant that sounds just like its name. You can get tacos or many other items such as a burrito or quesadilla rapido, which means fast. This place isn't like a Taco Bell where its Americanized and fast food but this restaurant is all authentic Mexican food just made faster than other restaurants. It is a great place to come in for a quick meal that is well worth your money because it isn't very expensive and for the amount of food you get the price is not bad at all. I ordered the Carne Asada (steak) burrito and the fish taco. I would have to say that both were definitely worth the money spent, $5.50 on the burrito and $2.85 on the taco. The Carne Asada burrito is unlike any other steak burrito I have tried. First off the amount of steak that they put in the burrito is already worth the 5.50, unlike other restaurants, they don't put rice in their burritos and personally I like that they don't do that because sometimes the rice will dry out the burrito or it will soak up the juices and make the burrito soggy. The way they cook the meat is just perfect because unlike many places I have been to they tend to cook the meat more towards well done but at Tacos Rapidos the steak was cooked to perfection where it wasn't tough to bite into and with the burrito they use a nice and soft white tortilla and also add other items such as guacamole and pico which make it delicious. The second item I ordered was the fish taco and this was one of the best fish tacos I have ever eaten. They fry this fish to where the outside has crispy golden brown batter coating and when biting into it I got this perfect crunch and texture where no other place has done that before. For the taco, they used soft corn tortillas with finely chopped pieces of lettuce, with pico and this special sauce that they put only on their fish taco, which is what makes this already good taco into a great taco. Everything at this restaurant is great from the service to the food and overall the authenticity of the place. The worker who was taking my order was nice and patient when taking my order and repeating my order to me to make sure she got everything right. Then to when I got the food and everything was cooked exceptionally well and made this one of the better Mexican meals I have had. If you are a person that is all in for the food and not for the looks of the restaurant I would definitely recommend that anyone who loves to eat Mexican food to go and try this place out even if you aren't close around the area, find a time to go and try Tacos Rapidos out because I'm sure you won't regret it.

Great food, but anything but rapidos. The wait times are sometimes unbearable, but no wait is too long once you taste their offerings.

I am now HOOKED on their Shrimp Quesadilla! It's more of a Shrimp Burrito (but isn't rolled like a Burrito) due to all the filling in it -- a half-dozen large shrimp (not the skimpy "salad" size), pico de gallo, rice, cheese and green chile in a jumbo tortilla. This is a meal, not an appetizer. I have also become a regular for their breakfast burritos, hot and delicious. I took one for my boss at an early meeting and now when we have early morning (6:30am) strategy meetings with department leaders, I bring enough for the group... and after our third breakfast burrito meeting, it has been noted everyone was early. The next meeting I have been requested to send an email for orders. I said absolutely NOT! I've been to restaurants with these people and some of them don't feel like they've done their job until they've made substitutions. A couple of my coworkers have asked me, "Did you try their carnitas or chicken enchiladas?" There are definitely some new fans in the office. This place won't at all appeal to people looking for a slick suburban fast food outlet. It cracked me up to read some jerk call it "low rent." How do I put this: IT AIN'T LOCATED IN GREENWOOD VILLAGE. It is remarkably clean -- you can see the kitchen from the ordering counter and drive thru, and the bathrooms are beat up, but the two times I've used the Mens, it has been very clean. If you want Del Taco, go to Del Taco. Lastly, when I am ordering to take home for dinner, but have somewhere to stop first, if what I've ordered comes with lettuce or guacamole, I order it on the side. They haven't made a mistake on this yet: Bravo! Oh, did I mention their beans? Theirs are DEEEElicious! Rice is okay here, nothing special, but I LOVE their beans. I always order "no rice, all beans."

Bleh, ordered carne asada fries yesterday. Not a favorite; SKINNY french fries, and it looked like it was microwaved! I was also wondering why the box was so light when I was heading home... They're skimpy! Perhaps I should stop comparing to California portions/quality.

Tacos Rapidos knows how to grill their meat so it's amazingly delectable; it tastes a bit buttery and a bit salty and it's amazing. Amazing amazing amazing. You pay $5.50 for a burrito that's somewhere between Taco Bell and Chipotle-sized -- but they don't jack around, it's 90% meat. YUMMO. *BUT*... I went there yesterday (Labor Day) with my cousin and ordered 2 burritos (I always get 1 to take home because I'm rarely in the area); the lengua and the carne asada. This one time, the time I let my cousin try it and have first bite, he wasn't impressed -- I had a bite; for whatever reason, the cooks had charred the lengua. It was still edible, not charcoal-y or beyond consumption; but it was not what I've come to expect from Tacos Rapidos. For that and for the fact at 5-6pm on a national holiday, they had 2 people staffing a kitchen with an endless line (kept wobbling between 6 and 9 cars in line) of patrons hungry for what they had to offer, I'm giving this location 4 stars. Better kitchen planning would allow the poor running-around cook and cashier to handle their job better and not char the meat; which would result in happier customers. 2 other people, or even 1 more, would have probably left things at a manageable load.

The tacos here are cheap and loaded with meat! Need I say more? I'd rather eat here over any other fast food place any day! They're open 24 hours a day, so you can fill your taco craving at any time. The asada tacos or the carne asada fries are some of the things everyone should try.

Oh my... This was our favorite when we used to live here. Known for their San Diego Style Mexican Food.... Well it's hard to compare to what we had in Washington...but here goes... I ordered a Chile Relleno plate.... Opted for no pico de gallo and more rice (instead of beans), I also asked for no Enchilada Sauce (but they put it on). I just scraped it off, oh well, I'm hungry. Guacamole doesn't look fresh (turning brown) and tastes salty. Also the rice is salty. The cheese doesn't look fresh either. The Chile Relleno was good though. My hubby got a steak (carne asada) burrito, which was good. The kiddos got 5 rolled tacos with guac and cheese. They didn't eat it up like they usually do. We also ordered a Large Horchata. Surprisingly super sweet and concentrated. Had to add lots of water and ice. (I guess that's a good thing if you want more Horchata!!!!) :) The staff is nice and the premises is relatively clean. Just a bit bummed of the quality and taste of food. Too salty :( That being said...This is a 24 hour place, so if you're hungry, want Mexican food, this is still a great place to go.

Having a late night conversation with one my employees one Saturday morning, we were talking about where to get some decent food that did not consist of McDonald's or anything of the sort. He told me there was this place he would go to after getting drunk called "Tacos Rapidos" and got this stuff called carne asada fries. I was kind of confused, I mean what in the hell is that? He explained to me that it was a heaping portion of fries, topped with sour cream, guac, cheese, and enough steak to feed 2-3 people (I guess that's why on the menu they call it a "side" item). He told me the drive through was 24 hours, and there are 2 locations. After doing research, I found out this would be the closer of the locations. My first time trying, I had just gotten off work. It was like 4AM. Of course, I was the only person to order. I told them I wanted the carne asada fries ($7.99), and a large coke. Unfortunately, they only sell Pepsi products (boo). The total came to $11.16. After seeing the size of the drink, I knew I would be wet if the fries were of the same size (huge). Shortly after, I got a bag- with the food, napkins, a fork, and some salsa. I won't lie, the first time I pulled from the drive through, I immediately opened up the food and starting going to town. IT was sooo good, and SOO much food. I sat in the parking lot at an angle, chomping for like 5 minutes. I decided it was time to go, so I drove home while eating the plate! By the time I got home, they were gone. I was proud of myself, as it was about a 2-3 lb plate of food. Like Chubby's, I couldn't get this stuff off my mind. So I kept going. And my drivers who were making deliveries in the area, I made them stop and get me some as well! I even brought my roommate. He liked the size of the burritos. Needless to say, this place is hearty, and full of value and flavor. And it will give you heartburn if you are not careful- but who gives a shit- it is so worth it! Don't worry, this place isn't limited to just fries and burritos, but I can assure you, when I roll through, I am getting the carne asada fries! I am shocked I haven't turned into a potato yet... Oh yea, they have free coffee in the AM when you dine inside!

Holy terrible! How can anyone like this place? I was excited for it's opening, as it looked like they'd done a lot of renovation from the previous Hamburger Stand. Also, it's only a few blocks from my office. I ordered a combo with a cheese enchilada and a crispy beef taco. When I opened it up, all I saw was lettuce and a lump of nasty-looking gray beans. I dug through and found my taco- it was smashed into tiny little pieces. No way that happened on my very short drive back to the office with the bag perched safely on the passenger seat. The enchilada was just a mess of gross enchilada sauce and stringy cheapo cheese. I was honestly afraid to eat this food. I would not in a million years go back here. Cross the street and stop in at Rico Pollo instead. Or even better, trek a little ways down Federal and go to Tacos y Salsas.

great cheap mexican food around the clock. Every city needs one of these and it seems like Denver has a couple! This place does it right, $4 burrito hits the spot, and is usually good for two small meals, especially when it's this hot outside.

Good fast cheap Mexican food.. Used to visit the one on Federal and Evans all the time. That one is my favorite! And it's open 24hrs!! But the one on Alameda is good too, and there is also Burrito Express in Green Mountain. Overall they do a good job at a fair price.

Yeah I like this place: big, fat, tasty burritos prepared fast and at a reasonable price. Don't love their salsas, but otherwise this is a good place.

I eat here every Saturday because I work .1 miles away. I always stick with the breakfast burritos and haven't ventured from that too much. I prefer green chili over red generally but I actually prefer their red over their green. I also like dogs better than cats but I like kittens better than puppies. So to clarify, it goes dogs, kittens, puppies, and then cats. Wait, what?

T R never disappoints. I have been to both locations many times and I have to admit they are my favorite. Food quality is always really good as well as service. Great value considering portion size. We all have our favorite menu items but dont get into a rut here. Try new things, they are all really good.

This is the worst mexican food i have ever eaten. I am sorry to say. First, my bean and cheese burrito was messed up, then i gave them a second chance and they messed up my breakfast burrito and finally, one last chance, they messed up my heuvos rancheros. Three strikes and you are out. The place is always empty. No wonder. It is in a prime Latino neighborhood. All the other restaurants are filled with latino families enjoying good food. I suspect that the cooks do not care or have pride in what they prepare. There are too many good places to go to like La Sierra on Alameda with the owner checking everything before it goes out. Beware. This is not what good Mexican food tastes like.

Got some take out since I was in the area, price prices are good and the service is friendly and very fast. Ordered a fish and beef taco, and the green chili plate. The fish taco was very good, with fresh salsa, crispy flaky filet. The beef taco was dry and chewy, almost like it was made a few hours earlier. The green chili was extremely salty and almost inedible due to the salt. Will give it another shot and see if other menu items are better.

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
