I have ordered takeout from this little gem for over 10 years and the food has been consistently good. I've read some negative reviewers' remarks and determined that these people consider themselves "foodies" and are actually very misaligned as far as rating a neighborhood takeout restaurant according to their impossibly picky standards. Through the years, I've seen them expand their menu from a good basic set of Chinese dishes, and venturing into Thai territory. They've added good basic Thai offerings and DELIVER them to your door in a reasonable amount of time. Barring extreme weather conditions, the majority of my orders have gotten here quicker than was promised. Delivery folks are always personable and professional. Think about this: this restaurant does a lot of business, and probably has the occasional late delivery or dish that did not meet a self-proclaimed "foody's" standard. And that disappointed individual has Yelp as their podium for delivering their "valuable insight". With all the choices available to spend their hard- earned cash, the one time something went wrong--look out small neighborhood business--you will suffer the "foody's" wrath. For me, this place has never delivered a bad dish. I think they have perennially strong dishes like Kung Pow Triple Delight and Moo Shu in any combination. I will concede I don't care for their crab cheese wantons for the simple reason they have carrot bits in them. I like all their soups. they always include plenty of spicy mustard, sweet and sour sauce, napkins, utensils, fortune cookies--they pay attention to that stuff, and that's reassuring. The accusations that Sweet Rice is a front for something illegal is a pretty mean and cheap thing to slander at a legitimate well-liked neighborhood business. These reviewers are more interested in a pathetic attempt to come off as compelling, rather than informed...and probably watch too much TV.

We got Chow Mien and a spicy shrimp dish, I can't remember its name, the Chow Mien was weak sauce but the spicy shrimp was great. I think its a little pricey for Chinese take out but the portions were big and the food was pretty good. I vote it a good neighborhood restaurant. Nothing special but not too disappointing either.

I ordered here based off the menu stuck on my door. I saw the yelp! reviews and was a little weary but gave it a shot. I ordered Green Chicken Curry and my husband got Teriyaki Chicken, two completely different meals obviously yet both were really good. Everything tasted fresh, good size portions, etc. The only reason I am deducting a star is because the delivery dude was about 40 minutes late dropping the food off! I totally get being stuck in traffic or running behind but he called us after he was already 30 minutes late to tell us he got lost and took another 10 minutes to get here! When a delivery dude tells you, "I'll be there in 40 minutes" you watch every car go by like a dog with it's head out the window. Having to wait an additional 40 minutes really irritates a hungry person.

I gave them a 5 star because they're definitely not a 3 star, So I gotta tilt the scale a little. In reality I'd rate them a 4-4.5 It's been a neighborhood favorite of mine for almost 15 years. I've tried several different dishes and every one comes through delicious. Huge portions too. Fast delivery and fast take out, Can't recommend enough.

I read the reviews but thought I would check it out anyways since it was so close. First of all, this is a take out/delivery place only...do not think you can come there to eat as they only have two crappy benches outside. The food was okay at best. The sauce was water down and the rice was cheap. I was really disappointed since the price was so high considering the amount and quality of food you got. The fortune cookie was stale and I "think" there was a small piece of glass possibly in my food but I can't confirm it but it was hard and grainy. I would avoid almost at all cost and go to any of the many other Asian places around the area. Heck, I would go to Panda Express over this place again.

Live relatively close and have ordered from here every so often. The restaurant is in a older strip mall in the middle of the neighborhood. Today I order the Kung Pao Triple Delight, lunch special. The food was finished cooking as I arrived, exactly when they said it would be ready. The place was staffed today by two older men. To address review that said this place is not clean - The walls at the front of the store where you pick-up could use a new coat of a paint and it's not super well lit, which gives a weird vibe. You can see the entire kitchen area to the back; visually seemed clean. Checked the Denver gov site inspections history; no horrible violations I didn't taste any crab flavor in the crab cheese wonton, and I don't think there is any crab or krab in the mix. Also, yes, to confirm another review, there are bits of carrot in the cheese. The good news is that means they make these there in the restaurant. The egg roll had cabbage, carrots, etc... the usual mix. it was a pretty thick layer of eggroll wrapper before you get to the filling. It tasted fine. The Kung Pao Triple Delight is very good. There were 3-4 shrimp in the mix and a good amount of chicken and beef. The vegetables were correctly stir-fried so they had crunch. There were bamboo shoots and water chestnuts in the mix too, and good sized pieces. The sauce was actually pleasantly spicy and not overly sweet like other places I have reviewed. The portion is very generous for lunch, I saved half for dinner.

This is a small Chinese restaurant tucked away into a strip mall. I came here after going to Dancing the Soul, which is next door. I walked in and loved how good it smelled. It is a takeout place only - most of the restaurant is composed of the kitchen, with a table and a couple of chairs if you haven't called ahead to get your food. I didn't want a big meal, so I ordered the wonton soup. It was still piping hot by the time I got home. It was full of shredded cabbage and carrots, along with four plump wontons. The broth had a fantastic flavor as well. Best wonton soup I've had in a long time!

Sweet Rice Cafe is our local Chinese take-out spot. It is fast, convenient and in the neighborhood. It is a destination type spot, if you blink you might miss it in the dated strip mall. The best Lemon Chicken that I have had in years!!!

Just received a flyer. My first time at Sweet Rice. I ordered delivery, made it here in 25 minutes, not bad for a Friday evening. Food is excellent, the driver was friendly. Can't ask for more than that. I'll be giving them another round. Thanks.

We've been getting delivery from Sweet Rice for about 3 years now...and they have been consistently good. I think every restaurant has 'off' days...and Sweet Rice has their share of 'off' days...but overall I think they do a good job. Maybe it depends on the chef that day? Some days the orange chicken is out of this world! But the next time it's average - but still good. I wish we could figure out if this is linked to a chef...we would then order on the nights he/she is cooking. Delivery is lightning fast...true we live only about 10 blocks away...but it's still really quick - and always steaming hot when it arrives. Nothing worse than ordering sesame or orange chicken and finding a luke-warm soggy mess after a slow delivery...never an issue with Sweet Rice.

I too am surprised to read the other negative reviews. I have lived in this hood for years now and we find Sweet Rice to be a consistent, quality and reliable take out place. What could a girl be more thankful for than that? A great go to place when you can't think of what to do for dinner, are having a hankering' for Chinese or just can't bare the thought of washing one more pan. It's good stuff. Good delivery times when I have smallish people who can easily ask 12 times a piece when the dinner will be here is a huge plus. Never had a wrong or jacked up order, also big plus. Once I only had a large bill in which to pay and when I asked if it would be a problem, they said the driver wouldn't be able to make change but we'd just take care of it " next time", this is a really cool way to do business with a repeat customer. So the place is not the BEST I've ever had, China town in Chicago is the best I've had.I have however not been able to find better take out in a close, easy, reliable place ANYWHERE! Their chicken and pea pod is super good, egg foo young... pretty satisfying, mung bean thread... my kids LOVE this, hot and sour soup, coconut shrimp, Damn Skippy! Now I'm hungry for sure. I dig this place and see it in my immediate future.

Ugh. 1) Is sesame chicken supposed to stick to your teeth like carmel? I really thought I was going to pull out a filling. 2) Is wonton soup supposed to be filled with lettuce and ONE wonton? 3) Should it take an hour to deliver two entrees two blocks? How are they in business so long? Is this some money laundering front? All these questions make me angry. Chinese food should be good, not induce rage. I won't order from them again.

I am actually really surprised by the negative reviews Sweet Rice Cafe has received. I am always looking for really good Chinese food. If you are anything like me, you know it isn't easy to find. Sweet Rice Cafe is, without a doubt, the best Chinese food I have had. Everything that we have tried so far has been amazing. I especially recommend the Firecracker Shrimp and the General Tso's Chicken. Truly, truly excellent.

I haven't been to this place in 2 years, I used to live right across the street and ate there quite frequently. The food was great, their chicken is hands down the best I've had. The delivery is quick...but I lived across the street, so you know... All the workers speak broken English, not that this is bad, we are after all the "melting pot," but it does get a little hard to get your order in over the phone. The actual restaurant (if you can call it that,) is a few chairs outside and a small space to pick up your food, obviously not meant to stay and eat. The food is a little overpriced in my opinion, my meals (entree and white rice) were usually around $9-10.

Not good. There are a few places near mayfair that are better, including golden dragon, which doesn't say much. It's a good location for a good Chinese place but they are wasting the opportunity.

The food is great but best bet - call beforehand and pick up, or just have it delivered. Both times I went to Sweet Rice (which is the sweetest little Asian cafe) I took my kids to the park just across the street and waited patiently. It is worth the wait, by all means. I ordered the egg foo young and my daughter ordered curry beef, we always get wontons, egg rolls, and fried rice. The food is always flavorful with the perfect amount of spice. They have a traditional Chinese menu with a few Thai specialites (which are very good). Lots of vegetarian offerings and great soups. Note: There is no seating for dining in, only a table for waiting orders. There seemed to be just as many delivery drivers as workers on site- so, again order in ;)

I found two mealworms in my leftover rice. BOO! I hate to review so harshly, but this is the second time I've ordered from them and I just wonder how much extra protein I got the first time? Sorry Mealy Rice, I mean Sweet Rice, but we're breaking up.

I don't understand the negative reviews for this place. I live in the neighborhood and we tried delivery from here on a whim when we moved in last year. We haven't looked back. It is always excellent.. they're consistent, fast, and reasonably priced. The Ginger Chicken is amazing.. Every dish I've ordered has always been made with very fresh ingredients and is always very good. Highly recommended.. and I would also question the negative reviews, because we order from here at least once a month and it is ALWAYS good.

I went to the Art Institute and this is located across the street from the dorms. After moving out and graduating, I still find myself needing their Kung Pao Tofu. It's amazing. The only problem is that I am now literally one block outside their delivery range and they refuse to deliver to my apartment, so I go to my friends house (in 80218 instead of 80203) which is two blocks away and have it delivered there. Sometimes it's so incredibly fast (especially being 5 miles away) that I wonder if they have esp on me.

I tried Sweet Rice Cafe again and, this time, it was horrible. I barely ate any of the food and threw most of it away. I would say that it was the worst pad thai I have ever had but I have a hard time even calling it pad thai. More like bland noodles with a slight pad thai flavor. I dumped peanut sauce all over it in hopes of making it edible and, while it did taste a bit better, I was still aware that I was eating noodles with peanut sauce dumped all over it. The change between this time and the last time was that I didn't order any of the americanized entrees. No honey-walnut prawns, no general tso's. So I suppose if you only like American-style Chinese food, you'll be happy. If you like real Chinese food, you'll be horrified. Also, this time I made sure to tell them that I wanted it to be really spicy and it tasted exactly the same as it did the first time when I didn't.

We've been ordering from Sweet Rice for 6+ years. We always stick to the Chinese part of the menu and mostly the deep-friend American Chinese, but I looove their sesame tofu (great texture, unlike almost anywhere else), and we always get the green beans. They are prompt and friendly, a great little neighborhood spot. I haven't found anywhere else as good in Denver. Also love that there is no MSG. We've occasionally had "off" days from them, but never ever a one-star level disappointment. Their lunch specials are a really good deal with an egg roll (or thin, fried spring roll, really), crab cheese wonton, and enough entree and fried rice to make the next day's lunch, too, for $7.25 or less.

I'm not feeling it. No. No. No. Some days when I am at the park across the street, I get whiffs of their deep fried fun and think maybe they are worth another shot. Nope. Soggy general chicken that tastes more like a crappy sweet and sour is not worth the calories.
SPEND YOUR MONEY LITERALLY ANYWHERE ELSE. Wow... We will NEVER order here again. These guys came around the apartment complex, sticking flyers with a coupon on everyone's door, and boy did they fool us. We ended up getting the food, trying it, throwing it away, and cooking dinner anyway... Called to order this evening, and the woman on the phone was downright rude. I felt like I should be apologizing for asking her to take my order... it was clearly not something that she wanted to do. I had her on speaker while ordering, and we were both trying not to laugh it was so rediculous. We ordered orange chicken and been lo mein, and had a coupon for a free eggroll, which the lady acknowledged on the phone, and then which was not honored when the delivery guy came with the receipt. About an hour later, we had the food, and started with the soggy egg rolls. They're mostly cabbage, and mediocre is probably generous. The lo mein was typical, certainly nothing to get excited about, and was rather bland. I ate a couple of bites and became disinterested. The orange chicken was the kicker, however. It looked terrible and tasted worse. Completely and totally inedible. Orange chicken typically has some sort of delicious orange sauce, but not this time! We got dry breaded and fried chicken which was all doughy. Took one bite and spat it back out again. Couldn't even eat one little piece, this was so nasty. There aren't a lot of good Chinese delivery places nearby, so we were excited to try something new, but this is quite literally the worst food I've ever had delivered. It's expensive to start with, but when you have to throw it away, this is just a HUGE waste of money. Eating 28 one dollar bills would have tasted better. Yuck.

Have been ordering delivery for awhile here until they decided to hang up, have me wait the 2nd time I called to have them take my number and call me back...3rd time was unfortunately not there charm. When I told them this issue the girl ordering didn't apologize or show any remorse for their poor service. DO NOT ORDER!!!! Can cook & eat lunch & dinner by the time they take their order. Order from actual China!!! In the time it takes to order & get food from SWEET RICE CAFE!!!

After receiving a flyer advertisement, I decided to call them for delivery. They have a deal where if your 3 miles away or less, it's a free delivery. The man who took my order was kind of short with me on the phone, but it was a quick ordering process. It came so quickly, within 30 minutes, that I even wondered if it could've been them at the door. Unfortunately, they don't bring utensils like I had hoped. They have nice portions though. I ordered the sesame chicken. I will definitely be calling them again when I'm in the mood for delivery. It's nice, because it's a little healthier than ordering pizza all the time. I never would have found them if it wasn't for that flyer on my front door. I would definitely recommend trying them.

We recently tried this place for delivery after we had a menu dropped off. We had the pad Thai and a chicken dish. The food was decent, but probably not good enough that it will become a regular stop for us. Portion sizes are quite large as many others have said. I will compliment the spice. We asked for added spice on the pad Thai and they delivered!

It is as good as it gets for Chinese Take-Out in the Mayfair area. Always fast delivery, good portions and fair prices. It fits the bill when I have a craving for Chinese, but it also always leaves me a bit wanting...We had sooo many great Chinese restaurants in Houston. The food is good. Not great, but good. Nothing really stand-outs but nothing has ever been gross either. This is definitely a take-out and delivery place only.

This place is awful! That being said, I've only done take out so I can't speak for how it is when you go there. How do you mess up egg drop soup and crab cheese wontons? I don't know, but this place gets an A+ in doing so. The egg drop soup had so much corn in it they should have called it 'corn drop soup'. The wontons tasted like they had been dipped in sewage water first. This place serves some of the worst food I've ever had- do yourself a favor and skip it!

Awful, awful, awful!!! For some reason we got take out here instead of from our mainstay, Spicy Thai (go there instead!) We split an entree of sesame chicken, it was awful it must have been the cheapest fattiest cuts of chicken, I didn't have any white chicken at all, the crab wontons were horrendous, I told my husband that the inside tasted like thousand island dressing and there were all these chunks of orage stuff in them (carrot maybe? Who really knows) they were absolutely awful, we defintely didn't fight over them. Spicy Thai is even a tiny bit cheaper and the food is great and the quality is so much better. How does this place stay in business???

I'm still looking round for good places that deliver. This is not one of them! They were fine until the last time I ordered, The chicken was old, not just not fresh but really old. It smelled disgusting. and makes me really question the hygiene and cleanliness of the restaurant. It should be inspected for rotten foods.

Warning: gigantic portions of good Asian food! This is a small little takeout and delivery place, so you'll have to get your food to go if you stop by here. It's in a strip mall that not many people know about, but it's worth the visit. I've tried a few of the noodle dishes, of course, and am slowly making my way through other parts of the menu too. The mung bean thread noodles are quite good, and a little different than what's on the rest of the large menu, which is pretty standard, predominantly Chinese dishes. They make everything fresh when ordered, and you can watch your food being made if you stand there and wait for it. They only have a couple of people working at any given time since the place is so small, so it might take a few extra minutes to get your order. But they are always very friendly, and you get a huge amount of good-quality food for a reasonable price. That works for me.

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

Eeewwww, funky chicken and beef, watered down hot & sour soup, no go if you ask me. Try spicy Thai on Oneida if you want Chinese food delivered to stapleton.

I found two mealworms in my leftover rice. BOO! I hate to review so harshly, but this is the second time I've ordered from them and I just wonder how much extra protein I got the first time? Sorry Mealy Rice, I mean Sweet Rice, but we're breaking up.

I have had bad food from this little place, but it has been years. Huge portions, fresh ingredients, friendly people, a nice local business which supports the community. I am especially fond of the eggplant and tofu.

We just moved here a couple of weeks ago and I found a flyer on our door from Sweet Rice Café. We were hungry and too tired to go out from moving and unpacking boxes, so I called them. Long story short, I've ordered from them twice in the past two weeks and have found their food to be surprisingly good (I'm always skeptical of businesses that leave flyers on my door). Both times I ordered was on a weekend night and the order arrived at our house both times in less than half an hour (less time than quoted). Fast delivery and good food! And leftovers! What more do you need when you don't want to go out?!

Even in the snow storm, they delivered to my house part of our order that was left behind when we got take out. Thoughtful family owned business. Egg drop soup was yummy.

Four meals later, still a huge fan. It's gotten so I won't order local takeout / delivery from anyone else.

While I cannot stand behind the food, as a resident of the area I must express my gratitude to Sweet Rice Cafe for keeping the stray dog population under control.

This place is unclean and the food and service is terrible !! I have to wonder how they stay in business, and are they just a front for something else ?
