Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

I live really close and get take out a couple times a month. Prices are good, inexpensive if anything. I usually opt for a chicken dish. Quality of chicken used is ok. Doesn't compare to my favorite Chinese restaurant Red Coral on Colorado Blvd that closed (which is main reason I opt for Sunny Gardens). I have not tried the mock meats yet but do have a question for those that mention them as being really good: -aren't the mock meat dishes cooked on the same grill/cook top as all the meat items? Is there any guarantee that the grill top has been throughly cleansed in order to avoid the juices from poultry, beef and fish from being cooked into a mock meat dish? I'm just curious if a vegetarian has inquired about that. I will certainly give a mock meat dish a try.

I decided to come here today with my niece and it was absolutely scrumptious . I ordered the shrimp with veggies in brown sauce and it was loaded with shrimp! , my niece ordered the kids seamse chicken it was so yummy yum her words . I am so happy that my favorite gal is back she left for a while and I stopped coming here due to her leaving . I have been coming here since 2008 the food is consistently good and that is a plus in my book. So I guess that is called loyalty.

You know that nasty queasy feeling you get after eating Chinese food? I'm certain it's b/c of all the gross oil they use for their dishes.. but I did NOT get that nasty feeling after eating at Sunny Gardens! :) So I was a little hesitant when I first walked in with my friend because it smelled kinda funky.. like wet mop... and it was relatively empty.. But, we saw the menu and were definitely intrigued. There is a 100% vegetarian section on the menu.. and I think my friend read something about them using less oil and healthier ingredients? I tried the kung pao shrimp plate which comes with fried rice and 2 fried crab cheese wontons. Everything was delicious! My friend ordered the vegetarian kung pao dish.. which came with meat substitutes.. and it was also pretty good... I'd just rather eat actual meat.. so I would never order anything from the vegetarian section hehe. I think the key point is that the food was good and I didn't feel unhealthy eating it even though it was Chinese food. They just need to market themselves better.. and probably use a cleaner mop?

Sunny Gardens is a hidden gem, tucked away in an unassuming strip mall near Monaco and Yale. I decided to try it after receiving a mailer from them, and have returned several times since for both takeout and dine-in. The service is always fast and friendly. I live about a mile and a half away, and my food is always ready when I get there to pick it up, and stays hot on the drive home. Their dining area isn't large but does accommodate a few tables. The lunch combinations are my favorite - you get egg fried rice, an entree, and two crab cheese wontons for $6.75 with tax. SCORE!

I've ordered her for the past year, and the first time I ever ordered it took an extremely long time to get my order delivered, but now they know my address and me and one of the delivery guys are actually friends now. Very nice people. I recently ordered pick-up. The restaurant is small and quiet with the kitchen at the door. It's a sit down restaurant for sure. I always order crab meat cheese wontons, chicken Lo-mein, and egg drop soup. All three of these are wonderful. I don't recommend 're heating anything else but the lo mein. All are extreme portions for what you pay for. I always have leftovers of something. I order here at least twice a week now because transportation is tough and they have so many things on their menu to choose from, it never gets boring. I live about .8 miles away and I think my delivery eta is around 30 minutes. From what ive noticed, only regulars or people who order frequently get their food quicker. Which isn't fair, but I'm not one to complain. This place and the food reminds me of a Chinese place I used to go with my grandma when I was a kid. As long as I live at my address, I will keep ordering from here.
(5)Jason M.
This is my favorite Chinese restaraunt. The mock meats are the best. The food is consistently great. The dine in experience is very casual and low key. Service is always perfect. These guys crank their food to a tasty 11/10
(5)Blair M.
I always order delivery or carry-out from here, so I can't comment on the restaurant's dine-in atmosphere, but the staff I've encountered is always friendly and helpful, both at the front counter and the delivery drivers. Every time I order (which is more often than I care to admit) my order is always correct with hot food and quick delivery times. The delivery charge (based on distance) is $5 for where I live, which is a bit higher than the many other Asian restaurants in my area but is well worth it for the product. Personally, I love the Lo Mein dishes and the appetizer combo, but have always enjoyed anything I've ordered from Sunny Gardens. It's great portion sizes for a great price considering there's always enough for two people (or leftovers) with every entree. Definitely one of my favorite places to order from when I don't feel like cooking or going out.
(5)Pamela L.
Okay, so probably not as good as it gets, but for Denver not being a gourmet's dream city, it's good. Compared with all the bad Chinese food around, this is definitely better than most. Portions are good size - 2 meals for most of us. Delivery was quick - 30 minutes even though Grub Hub estimated 1.5 hrs! The meat is real meat, not pressed cheap semi-meat stuff. The rice was fresh. And the sesame chicken wasn't sitting so long that the meat shrunk inside! Based on this meal - about my third from them - absolutely no reason not to give them a 5!
(5)Matthew B.
I grew up in Southern Colorado, so I don't have much expertise on Chinese food. What brings us here is there good location & vegetarian options. I'm a huge fan of their spicy edamame!
(4)Mitchell G.
The worst experience with Asian takeout. We ordered dinner portions of sesame chicken and Mongolian beef, both of them were supposed to come with cheese wontons... No wontons to be seen. When I called to let them know, I heard the young man get yelled at for 5 minutes about wontons... That is deplorable, then when we actually got our food it was dry and bland and were definitely meant for children as they were not adult dinner portions.... I WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN!!!! Shame on them to call this a restaurant, this is a meager attempt at an eatery
(1)Lace M.
Order to-go pick up and she told me 15 min but ended up waiting over 30 min. I understand they were busy though. The food was decent, the sesame chicken was a little too fried, too many crunchy pieces than chewy. Family dinner was a good deal.
(3)Priscilla The Cat ..
We have been searching for a good vegetarian friendly Asian restaurant since we left San Francisco, and this place was a good choice! Lots of mock meat and healthy veggie options. Portions were generous and food tasted great! Service was friendly and fast too. Restaurant was clean, and so was the ladies room. We will be back for sure!
(5)Shana H.
Inexpensive menu, good food, efficient staff... The rice that comes with the combo is just the plain fried rice ...no veggies.
(3)Samuel W.
The food was bland and the egg drop soup tasted funny. Only thing keeping this from being 1 star was the fast delivery! Eat somewhere else!
(2)Rene B.
I appreciate this place for their vegetarian and vegan menu. The mock meat is so good that my vegetarian daughter said that she would want a quart of just the mock chicken so that she could just eat that. We have ordered for delivery several times and it came in a reasonable amount of time. It's easy to order online, and the prices are reasonable. If you were a vegetarian or vegan I would definitely check this out.
(5)julie n.
Found this place on Yelp and gave it a shot even after the 1 star review. The have a fancy website that makes online ordering fast and easy. Delivery charge is a $1 and they have arrived ahead of schedule both times we ordered. The sesame chicken and lo mein are very good. Cheap too. Great little take out place.
(5)Brian S.
I came here for lunch on a random Tuesday, and while there were three people ordering take out and two people sitting down, I wasn't acknowledged for about 4 minutes and then was told to "sit wherever" and the punk-looking kid waiting on me said "you want to drink something or something?". So the service went like that all lunch, but whatever, I guess you get what you pay for, and for $7 lunch with soup, rice and wontons, I can understand. The Sesame chicken was just okay. Not great by any means, kind of had a weird aftertaste. The wontons were good, as was the hot and sour soup. This place will do in a pinch or for a cheap lunch, but not recommended if you're looking to impress a date or a client.
(3)Max K.
Sunny G is a really good spot. Having been a customer for 5 years and watching them grow I know they have good food. The quality is always high. Obviously I think their food is much better in the restaurant, but there take out is still very good. The staff is extremely friendly. Whenever we have guest in town we order Chinese from Sunny!
(4)David B.
Picked up my order not 20 minutes ago. The food is substandard. Nothing tastes very good. The shrimp in the lo mein couldn't be more disappointing, it doesn't even look like shrimp. It looks like imitation crab meat covered in what seems to be a poor excuse for seasoning The plain white rice doesn't even taste right. For their prices I expect better.
(1)Kera T.
This is our go-to carryout Chinese restaurant. The dinner plate combos are good - Hunan Chicken, szechuan chicken, shrimp w cashews, sesame chicken (ask for white meat), kung pao - not to disappoint! And their vegetarian fake meat options are pretty good too! Friendly young staff :)
(4)G S.
This was the worst chinese food we have ever had.
(1)Xan A.
The food is always good and the cost is always low. My family found this place when it advertised as having vegetarian Chinese food. It was the best veggie Chinese I had ever had. When we stopped being vegetarian we continued to go and we have still never been disappointed. We order delivery and usually order when we are almost there because their delivery speed is so quick. If you are a vegetarian try their veggie meat. It's manages to have great taste and texture.
(5)Jamie R.
Mixed wonton and egg drop soup was good. Shrimp with snow peas and chicken & broccoli were both really gross. Broccoli was soggy and bathing in a nasty salty dressing. Chicken was dry and inedible. Shrimp was mealy and overlooked. Snow peas were majorly overcooked. Waste of money. Delivery also took almost an hour. $5 delivery fee unnecessary.
(1)Caleb S.
Yuck. Hunan Chicken was bland. Sweet and Sour Chicken was soggy and was served with thin, watery sauce. Wontons were under cooked. Plus, the delivery guy was rude as hell when we pointed out that we had already tipped but it wasn't showing up on the order slip. Not ordering from here again.
(1)Gregory B.
We ordered from EAT24 for delivery tonight and after 90 minutes called and asked for an ETA. At that point, we were told that our driver was on his way and that the food would be there any minute. Fast forward to 30 minutes later when we STILL had not received our order and we called again. Again, we were told that the driver was supposed to have called us and that it would be there any minute. Sorry...but we would rather watch grass grow than wait almost 2 hours for delivery. We cancelled our order and went elsewhere. Avoid this place for delivery and avoid the EAT24 APP for their horrible customer service!
(1)Amanda H.
The vegetarian options are sketchy. I get sick every time I eat their food. So, I'm not eating there anymore.
(3)Benjamin E.
This place is the only good Chinese place I've found in the area. Tried others but this is the only one that is consistently awesome. The starters are not really worth ordering but the entrees are awesome, sesame and general tsaos are amazing.
(4)Jean A.
Was craving Chinese food so badly the other night, but wasn't sure where to turn being new to this area. Sunny Gardens had great reviews, so thought I'd give it a try, via Grub Hub. Food was delivered a whole hour early than what was estimated, and the person who delivered was so friendly. On Grub Hub, you can automatically add a tip to your bill, but it didn't show on the receipt he gave me from Sunny Gardens...I hope he got it! I ordered the chicken lo mein meal/combo, and it was delicious (not to mention still piping hot, and great value for all of the food you get)! The chicken was seasoned perfectly, not bland or rubbery or cold like some chicken prepared in Chinese restaurants, and the noodles were delicious. I will say they were a little too oily to my liking; there was a shallow pool of oil in my tray by the time I got to the bottom, but the flavor was incredible! The meal also came with a huge helping of egg fried rice and 2 crab cream cheese wontons--both were amazing. I also ordered some pot-sticker dumplings as well (I told you I was craving Chinese). I shared with my roommates, who are connoisseurs of Asian cuisine, and they seriously enjoyed them. Definitely recommend giving this place a try! I know I'll be ordering from them again soon.
(4)Holly B.
My husband and I love this place! We've ordered delivery twice and both times the food arrived in under 30 minutes. We saw a few reviews about missing chopsticks so we asked for some and got them. The food is very good for the price. We had the egg drop soup, vegetable egg rolls, chicken lo mien, sweet and sour chicken, and steamed white rice. Everything was wonderful.
(5)Shari A.
This is the worst Chinese food I think I have ever had. The food is very mushy, greasy & flavorless. I tried it on 3 different occasions since I have seen good reviews. Each time was equally as bad. Unfortunately, I cannot come up with one redeeming quality for this restaurant.
(1)Jamie L.
I ordered delivery from Sunny Gardens to surprise a friend returning from a long, long, long day of driving and other stuff. Suffice it to say, coming home to a hot, good meal was the perfect thing to do. And Sunny Gardens pulled it off. They gave me an accurate delivery time, and I was able to pay both the bill and tip online with my credit card. Reports from the friend? Food was GREAT. It arrived HOT and the delivery driver was friendly. Cheese Wontons, Eggrolls, and Wings were all an immediate hit. The Sweet and Sour Chicken and Fried Rice hit the spot too. So: We're very pleased. Just one complaint: I wish I lived within the delivery area!!
(4)Natasha B.
The only thing that stopped me from giving 5 stars is that I have only tried this place once. We called in our order, the lady on the phone was very nice. Our food arrived quickly and it was delicious! We had the pork eggrolls, shrimp lo mein, Mongolian chicken and vegetable fried rice. If you live in the area..try it out. You won't be disappointed.
(4)Nate F.
Excellent Chinese food. I get the cashew chicken with broccoli and it's delicious. Friendly employees, fast delivery and conveniently located off of Yale and Monaco. Give this place a try.
(5)Wally B.
After Westword wrote a glowing review about this place, I stopped in and ordered my favorite dish " Happy Family".. I'm certain no family would be happy eating this travesty of the name. The dish was flavorless and even adding a packet of soy sauce did nothing to improve the taste or flavor of this soulless dish .The "Pork Egg Rolls" were flavorless and if there was any pork in them, it must have been pork spray as no pork was visible. There are many better Chinese restaurants who can prepare a significantly better dish. Don't bother eating here ..you will be disapointed! Wally
(2)Tif D.
Good chinese! Tasty soups and apps, typical menu choices. It's family run, but the children are the face. Don't plan on having a dining experience here, to go is the way. Don't like that they charge for the good mustard and duck sauce. They seem to forget Kung Pao has chili peppers; I ask everytime and the cook forgets, I send it back and tosses some in but the dish needs to be made over, the smoke from the chilis are what flavors the whole dish, putting them in afterwards is not gonna cut it. The veggie meat is really good, you can't tell a difference so if you are trying to do some vegan meals this place is allright.
(4)Angela A.
This is my new joint for Chinese delivery. Not sure why I didn't know about it until very recent but I'm glad at least I did find it. We have ordered from here a few times now & I can say the food is consistent, tasty, delivered hot, and fast. Just what I look for when I need something delivered. I honestly do not understand how they deliver the food as hot as they do, especially on cold, winter nights! It is piping hot, too hot to even eat right away. When it comes to Chinese I always revert to my standby, shrimp lo mein and rice. They have a combo here that comes with that and 2 crab cheese won-ton's for under $10 that I really like. I have looked at the extensive vegetarian menu and do want to explore that more. They have some amazing sounding specialty meals as well. As a note I do feel I need to mention the last time we ordered our won-tons were not cooked fully, they were edible but not crisp and crunchy. Once we popped them in our toaster oven for a few minutes they were nice and crispy. Somewhat of a flaw but not enough to deter us from ordering again. If this turns into a trend, then no more for sure.
(4)Travis S.
Initially I had a bit of sticker shock with a total of $37.63 for two entrees and egg rolls. I ordered General Tso's chicken, combo Lo Mein, and pork egg rolls. It was delivered in about 45 minutes during prime time on a Friday night. The food was clearly better than average. It was delicious! I'd pay that price again and again for food this good.
(4)Elle N.
I just ordered from here for the first time. I got the orange chicken and the sesame chicken. I will say I really liked the sesame chicken but wasn't as big of a fan of the orange. But that wasn't due to anything other than it just wasn't my taste. It was cooked well, both were, and they were fresh with big pieces of veggies. The portions were generous. What I really like is I ordered online and it gave me an estimated hour and a half for delivery time, normally I would pass and just pick it up but it's snowing pretty heavily outside. To my surprise, they were here in less than 35 minutes. The driver was even polite enough to make sure my dog didn't run out of my apartment. I'll def order from here again.
(4)Mac X.
I don't know if chef has been changed or not. Sichuan beef is way so salty!!! I'm very disappointed. No more Sunny Garden.
(1)Barb M.
Firstly, read the older vegan reviews with a grain of salt - Sunny Gardens has switched their mock meat product and it DOES NOT contain egg powder! It's a gluten based product made with mushrooms and other veggies, but no egg or dairy. totally vegan. My understanding is that for a while they were using a product that contained egg powder, but no longer. Okay, now that's out of the way... Their vegetarian menu is WONDERFUL! It's so nice to be able to experience my 'old favorites' like sesame "chicken" again. Also, they'll veganize anything on the menu if they can. Sweet n' Sour chicken wasn't listed on the vegetarian menu, but they made it for me. My favorite part? The veg menu is right on the front page! It's nice when a restaurant doesn't make me feel like a second class citizen just because I don't eat animals.
(5)J. Sara S.
I was taken here by a family member. I really was not wanting to go, but what the heck! OK, I better start trying these little places that I drive by thinking that they can't be much, because they are small and hidden in a strip mall. I have to say their Sesame Beef was really good! I had a lunch special and I liked the Hot and Sour soup ,Crab Won tons and Sesame Beef all cooked fresh and hot! Excellent! The fried rice that came with it was fresh, but lacked flavor, that was my only complaint. I would visit here again when in the area! The place was small, but very clean! $ price very fair!
(4)sarah C.
I'd really like to give this like 4.5 stars, but eh, whatever. I really enjoyed this place. I LOVED that they had online ordering WITH 24hr live chat so you can check the status of the order. I ordered some Vietnamese pork rolls, uh.. YUMMY, sticky huge rolls dipped in saffrony sauce, drop or 2 of soy sauce. very tasty and just what i wanted. As a lover of wonton soup and egg drop soup, they have the best of both worlds. TRY THIS SOUP if you like them both like I do. AAH. I was in heaven. No. Proper. Words. For the grande finale, I ordered combo lo mein. I think the only think i would change is not getting the pork in there. i really only wanted the shrimp and chicken, (since i had the pork rolls) so the pork was just kind of in the way. Healthy portions which I loved. super americanized Chinese food, but it was so good. I will definitely order from here again. I know some people say that SG didnt read the special online requests, well in my case, they did. I received the extras I wanted and the stuff I didnt want, well I didn't receive. Perfect. Give this place a try! Tons of options.
(5)Courtney B.
The service leaves much to be desired, but the food is really solid. I had some of the best snot soup ever! (Egg drop) and our entrees were portioned well, cooked to order, and yummy. Next time I have a crazing for greasy chinese, this is where I'm going.
(3)Scott M.
Hard to rate the food when you can't eat it. They couldn't even include a 2 cent pair of chopsticks for delivery to the hotel I am staying at. When I called back (1 minute after the driver left), they said they could get me utensils in 45-60 minutes. I guess the bright side was that the wonton strips were tasty while waiting for my soup to cool so I could DRINK it. Come on Sunny Gardens, splurge for the two cents...
(1)Becca R.
This is American chinese. The meal sizes are great for the price. The soup was really delicious. The meal was tasty, but made my stomach church for quite awhile afterwards. Also the cream cheese rangoon are probably the worst I have ever eaten and should've been a dessert, so don't waste your time on that, but otherwise an okay place to get a cheap Chinese fix.
(3)Jenni A.
Super Delicious. Ordered delivery and it was so easy and quick. I did it all online and I have never ordered Chinese food so quickly. Pork buns were amazing and the Egg Drop Soup was even better. The dinner combinations are a great bang for your buck. All of the food I have tried has yet to disappoint me.
(4)Ellen L.
After several years in Denver I am still searching for a great Chinese place, and unfortunately this is not it. There was nothing terrible about the food but it did not inspire enthusiasm. The Tofu with Mixed Chinese Vegetables and the Shrimp with Broccoli, Zuchinni and Carrots had the same bland taste. The "chow fun" was not made with the traditional flat, wide noodles. The Pad Thai was sweet and not spicy hot as advertised.
(3)Jeff N.
I have never had a bad meal at this place. All of their food is really quite good. They offer a few vegan choices and a few Thai choices as well. We usually eat here about once a week or so. They offer delivery which is fast and courteous. The dine in option is pretty good. The place is clean and the folks who own it are so nice to everyone. Maybe the most important thing here is that the food quality is always consistent. We really like it and will continue to dine here.
(4)Kyle G.
I was very impressed with the variety of vegan options on their menu. As reported in another review, I did inquire if their veggie meats were truly egg and dairy free. They are now, though they did admit to an issue before. I had the vegetarian spring rolls and the Kung Pao Tofu with Brown Rice. All were excellent. Usually Kung Pao is very basic from a vegetable perspective, but their version had zucchini and broccoli in addition to the typical green peppers, onions, and water chestnuts. The sauce was rich and nicely spiced without being overly salty or too hot to enjoy. The Tofu was nicely fried and had a very pleasing texture. I don't know how often I'll get back into Denver from our current base in Estes Park (which is Chinese food challenged), but I'll certainly try and get back to Sunny Gardens to try some of the traditional "meat" dishes I do occasionally miss and give their veggie meats a try.
(4)Max M.
This is our favorite screw it lets order delivery place. Its more americanized, but its tasty and the people are friendly. The menu is huge which can make it a bit of a time consuming process to pick out what you want. You can order online which has actually been a better experience for me compared to calling my orders in.
(4)Kim S.
I have been coming to this family owned restaurant for as long as I can remember. First off, Tit's always clean. The family that runs it are very friendly and the service is always top notch. The food is always consistent and the flavors are spot on. When I come home and visit in Denver, I stop here when I am craving a little Chinese food. The Szechuan chicken is always a good choice!
(4)Macks R.
I ordered from Sunny Garden for lunch today and I'm not sure if it was because I ordered within a few minutes of them opening or not but my food was horrible. The reason I ordered from this place was because they had the highest score on yelp but in all honesty this was the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten in my life. The sesame chicken was hard as a rock and tasted like it was made 3 days ago, and I could swear that they didn't even cook my crab cream cheese wantons because it tasted like raw dough. I didn't even try the soup because everything else was so horrible. Very disappointing. I will not order from here again.
(1)David S.
If it is purely Americanized Chinese food you crave for comfort, Sunny Gardens is your place. Not a single item on the extensive menu that I could imagine would dissuade you from eating at JJ if you are looking for real Chinese food. But for properly fried and not overly sweetened sesame chicken, fried rice and other comfort foods, this is a great choice. Prices are typical. This is a nice, clean, family-run restaurant in the Safeway strip mall. Plenty of parking. They also deliver and offer take-away.
(4)Amy F.
So now I've been here twice, the first time I had no internet access so does that mean I need to write that review and then do an update? Beware, this may be a fairly long review as it'll be two in one. Sorry :( I'll start with the first go around, did the online ordering for delivery. Easy enough to figure out. Only downside is if you want to edit an item you have to go back to the beginning. Anyways, the delivery time was at 1:45. Ok cool, 45 minutes for delivery during lunch time. Not bad. But 20 minutes till 1:45 food shows up literally still hot. This time it was Vietnamese Spring Rolls, the pork buns for appetizer. And egg drop soup to try. And a beef dish that now I can't remember what it was lol. So I'm only going to comment on the appetizers. Loved the bbq pork spring rolls, they are exactly what I thought they'd be. The pork buns were good, but a little doughy. Would get the spring rolls again, the pork buns, not so much. Update to second go around. Again ordered online but this time for pickup at 12:30. Went to Safeway and drove around a bit before heading back to the restaurant. I was immediately greeted upon entering which was cool. My order was ready at 12:26. What is up with this restaurant delivering better than average customer service? Absolutely love how I can go in 5+ minutes before my order should be ready and have it ready. This time I got the shrimp spring rolls and sesame chicken extra spicy. Unfortunately this wasn't the greatest like last time. Gggrrrr. Really wish this would have been better. I agree with another reviewer on the crab cheese wanton. Different taste than what I've been used to. Don't think I could eat those again. And the shrimp spring roll was good, though a lot of the sprouts were brown at the tips and the shrimp tasted like it was store bought from Safeway. And the bad thing about the shrimp? I still have the fishy smell on my hands. To me that screams bad seafood in general. So no, I would not recommend their seafood. The chicken on the other side was white meat, though it had no spice at all. Somewhat bland and quite a bit of small pieces. The fried rice was pretty good, but again rather somewhat bland. Disappointed I wasted $13 on lunch (that was with tip). May try to find another place that delivers that's just as good. Yea I'd recommend it, but beware of what you order.
(3)Michael C.
Good delivery Chinese. A very solid b+ Delivery is fast.
(4)Michelle M.
I order here (via grub hub) each time I visit my mum....Love the szechuan tofu, steamed veggies and vegetable soup.....prompt delivery....nice delivery guys.....saves me from a fast food fix.....
(4)Tiffany G.
Worst hot and sour soup I've ever had. Not spicy and barely anything but broth. I called to let them know my dissatisfaction and that was a waste of time. Coupled with the fact that the driver didn't have change for the cash I gave him. I would certainly not recommend ordering from here. Nor will I ever choose this establishment again.
(1)Jill L.
I admit, I love American Chinese food. The location is fantastic, the service is always super nice and the wait staff are all family which I love. The food here is consistently good, I don't even have one negative thing to say about Sunny Gardens. We hit this place up at least once a month and always feel happy when we leave. The delivery is also fast, organized and delicious.

Oh Sunny Garden. Looked around online for a place that delivered orange chicken and sweet & sour pork, anything I found with a decent rating wasn't serving pork; #weird. Sound found Sunny Garden ordered up the previously mentioned with some pork fried rice and regular fried rice, wontons came with. Delivery was super quick even during a game night. The veggies looked fresh, the fried food didnt have black spots and the red sauce(not sure what its called) wasnt chunky and had great flavor. Overall def going to order from Sunny again.

WARNING: First impression review. Unless I am just visiting from out of town, I do try not to write these kinds of reviews. Truly. But my delivery experience was just so....meh, that I am not even sure I will be back. First, if you order online, they don't pay any attention to special instructions. Which is unfortunate...because I am allergic to chicken. So asking for my Pad Thai without chicken didn't quite work. Don't worry. I'm still alive (it isn't that kind of allergy). Just a little ticked. Pros: Delivery was fast. Food was super hot. Cons: The food kind of sucked. I had vegetable egg rolls which were HORRIBLE. I wish I had bought grocery store ones instead. The pad thai was also pretty not good...really sweet, and no other flavors in it other than "sweet". Oh, yeah and chicken. Which I can't eat. The Schezuan Shrimp was so-so....nothing that I would order again though. I may give this place another chance in person, but only on the recommendation of some dishes from people who have tried them.

Late delivery and the food was, well, less the MEH, it was BLEH.... I ordered the Pork Lo Mein, Kung Pao Chicken, Mongolian Pork, and Sesame Chicken. Only the Sesame Chicken was passable. The flavor in the Kung Pao and Mongolian Pork was bland, at best. The Lo Mein took top honors in a mediocre line up, with the Sesame Chicken being flavorful, but mostly fried breaking with little chicken. Took them about an hour and 20 minutes to get the delivery to a location only 2 miles away. Order elsewhere or be prepared for something extraordinarily BLEH!!!

Sunny gardens has an extensive menu. Which I love because I love choices. I talked my friend into going here with me for dinner and I liked it alot. I am very into places that are family owned and not chains. This place is very very family owned. We were sat by whom I believed to be the daughter of the owners (mom and dad) who were in that back cooking. Our food was then brought to us by a 13ish old son of the family. I needed extra sauce but I didn't want to ask him for it because I felt i was violating some sort of child labor laws. It' wired asking for things from a young child that is not your own. As we were eating the entire family including 4 more kids came in and had dinner as a family. Then the older kid went back out to the parking lot to work on his car while my waiter went outside to play tag with the other younger kids. The food was really good, they have a ton of vegetarian items. I got the sesame fake chicken and tofu. I wish the tofu was a bit firmer but the fake chicken was good tasted like mushrooms. They served me enough for 3 meals. Soda comes in a can. I will go back to this place when I get a hankering for for fake mushroom chicken.

This ought to quiet the people who I've heard think I'm a shill for Elements massage because I don't have a photo up yet. ;) Anyone who knows me well knows I'm a slut for noodles, especially certain types of noodles, like for example udon noodles slurped up, delicious European spätzle, pesto cavatappi, or my favorite, lo mein. It's my comfort food -- not the best thing for me with all those carbos, but screw it! -- life's too short to never play decadently and with wanton abandon. Ha, that's funny, I almost made a pun with that 'wanton' comment...like 'wonton'. Which leads me into a bizarre segue for Sunny Gardens. The decor is fairly uninspired, but that's strip-mall for you. There are some nice touches, like small colored Japanese-style paper lanterns about the size of tennis balls strung from the walls. [ WOW, the gods love me -- we took a power hit at work and everything went down, but my Yelp review stayed intact! (*BIG* freakin plus for Yelp!!! :) ] The restaurant appears to be family-owned or at the very least majority-worked-by-the-family, who are always pleasant and ready to serve with a smile. The food however, is excellent. About 75% of the time I go there I get the combo lo mein, and you get a LOT for your money - liberally dosed with whatever add-in you like, chicken, pork, shrimp and/or tofu. There is a menu board up behind the ordering counter that has specials that are not on the menu, some of them are quite excellent. I'm also a sucker for good tempura, and while SG doesn't do the best I've had, they're pretty solid in that category -- tasty, crispy for the most part and a good amount. The nice things that are standouts for Sunny Gardens is every few months they are always slipping new things onto their menus to try out and many of them taste amazing; there is a full menu of both standard type foods like fried rice, lo mein, Happy Family, General Tso's chicken, etc, but also 'fringe' dishes as well that aren't what you'd expect at a mainstream Chinese restaurant in the malls. I *believe* they do Thai as well. And of course, like every other person on here has raved, they have an extensive vegetarian *and* vegan menu that people just love. Off I-25 and Yale to the east about 2 miles, in a plaza on the SW corner of Monaco and Yale, this place is a gem to experience if you don't need atmosphere and ambience and just want good, tasty food in a quiet little nook.

Mmmm tasty! I just moved to near Yale and I-25, and I don't think I'll find a better veg. restaurant close by! Not that this is a veggie restaurant, but i do not eat meat and their veggie beef, chicken, and shrimp are tasty! Went there today after reading Yelps about the place, and the Orange Beef was excellent and served with a bunch of veggies on a big pile of steamed broccoli - yum! The veggie beef was firm and tender but crispy on the outside, and the tangy orange sauce was not too sweet but could have had more of kick if you ask me...I likes it spicy! And like the other reviewers said. definitely a family place! A girl and her brother bantered in Chinese over whose turn it was to use the laptop, and she had her flute there to practice in the middle of the day, I was able to convince her to play me a song! Cute kids, and nice to support a family run business that makes great food for health conscious people. Yum - I ate the whole plate!

Love love love Sunny Gardens! We moved out of their delivery area (barely!) recently, bummer, but we still order from here and actually get off our butts and pick it up. That's how much we like them. We use the Eat24 app and it works great. Delivery was always ridiculously fast, and when we place an order now it's always ready when we get there. Their lo mein is the best I've had in a long time and the sesame chicken is super yummy. Anything else we've tried has been good as well. Including the awesome pork and vegetable egg rolls!

One of very favorite things about the internet is that I can have food delivered to my door without ever having to speak to another human being. This fact may taint my opinion of Sunny Gardens. I've never been into Sunny Gardens. I don't even know where it is. I just know that you can order online and they bring food to my address. That rocks. The fact that they are pretty quick and the food is good is just icing on the cake. We normally get some pork egg rolls, beef lo mein, sweet and sour pork (for our 5 year old who gobbles it up), and fried rice. It's all good. I think their friend rice is among some of the top fried rice I've sampled. The only thing I've not been a fan of is their egg foo young. It was abnormally saucy. And I mean that it was slathered in a not so tasty goo, not that it had attitude. Also - they put a lot of condiments in with the food. It's nice not to have to ask for them or have them be all stingy.

One of the few Chinese places that delivers chicken that isn't soggy and inedible within twenty minutes of it cooling off. I can actually eat the leftovers, and the veggies in the dishes seem fresh as well. I'm not a huge fan of the wontons, but everything else I've had has been good. I've sat and ate there once for the dinner plate, which was good, reasonable, and the service was good. It's clearly family-owned, and some of the kids sat in a corner and quietly did homework. They are always very nice and bring you exactly what you ordered. I won't get Chinese from anywhere else in the area.

I've eaten at Sunny Gardens about 5 times. I'm not sure what else is out there, but this place is average. I order chicken usually and it's hit or miss, a lot times it's tough and stringy. You know it's over cooked or old chicken when each bite lingers like chewing gum. It's great they have so many Vegan/Vegetarian options (Well it's great for Vegans and Vegetarians). I tried their sesame tofu, and it was pretty good.

We went here a few days ago on the recommendations of Yelpers. It was a place we could both agree on, that was both ethnic yet not too 'out there', and also had something we could both eat, vegetarian and meat. Needless to say, this is a GREAT Chinese restaurant we would definitely come back to. My boyfriend ordered the General Tso's chicken, and really enjoyed it. He said the amount of spice was perfect, not too over-powering, but not weak either. I really liked my vegetarian version of Moo Shu (sp?) chicken. I had never tried this before, and I was pleasantly surprised. The consistency of the mock-chicken was perfect, not too tough and (most importantly) not too soft! You know they don't know how to do vegetarian dishes when the fake meat is too soft! Good job, Sunny Gardens. My boyfriend even said he would eat the fake chicken on a regular basis, it was that believable and good! I was a little perplexed as to what to do with my rice "tortillas", as we called them, but my boyfriend liked them a lot. The only reason we docked it a star was due to the vegetarian eggrolls. They were basically the same thing you could get at Trader Joe's, just fried a little better. The insides WERE yummy, and I would order them again, but my boyfriend didn't think they were worth it. I love the fact that I can order this to be delivered!

Awsome food. We ordered for delvery via the online menu and ordering system. It was super easy and the delivered very fast. But the best part is the food, we has the vegitarian dinner for two, rice, soup, veg egg rolls and two dishes vegitarian chicken low mein and veg sesame chicken. I'm not a vegie but my wife is she loved all the food I was really impressed with the aftificial meat. That aside the veggies were fresh and crisp all the sauces were delious not to sweet, excellent flavor. The food here is refreshing among Denver Chinese food, Great prices ,fast delivery, online menu and ordering, but the best thing is the food. Super awsome you should eat here or order for delivery mmmm delivery.
(5)Courtney T.
seriously I've been waiting for my food for over an hour now yet they cant seem to find my order..........seriously they cant seem to get their orders together and then its going to be cold an nothing is going to be done seriously don't order food from here
(1)McKenzie G.
Um...have they been lying to us regarding their vegan meats? A friend undercover took a picture of one of their labels: plixi.com/photos/home/68… . They are using egg in their vegan meat? Can this be true? Sad state of affairs.

I've been ordering from Sunny Gardens for at least 9 years now and their delivery service has always been extremely fast & friendly. I do live close by. The food dipped in quality a little about 4 years ago and I wondered if it had changed hands. I've also seen the menu undergo a few minor changes. Originally, a very nice family ran the place (their daughter, who was adorable, sat and did her homework in the dining room in the evenings when my Mom & I would go in for a quick dinner. Later, when she was a little older, she worked behind the counter too and was always very cute and sweet) I also liked that when I went in to pick up an order they had a large pot of hot tea available as a serve yourself perk. Lately, I would say the food has gotten better again. We love the large sized bbq pork ribs, the chicken chow mein is a great American-Chinese staple if you don't like spicy or you're feeling under the weather (it's got garlic and onions in a white sauce with white meat chicken and lots of veggies and crispy noodles) I also like the Sesame Chicken, but it is hard to get them to make it spicy. (they will but sometimes it's just barely got a little heat and others theres no heat at all). They do a very thoughtful job of packing up delivery and to go orders... they leave the sweet & sour sauce separate so things don't get soggy, they give you lots of packets of hot mustard, duck sauce, soy, etc. and they always reinforce the bag w/ cardboard so it doesn't all end up on the floor. Sometimes it's the little things..... If you're looking for above average Americanized Asian food with fast friendly service and good prices I would highly recommend Sunny Gardens.

Totally awesome! Resturant was clean and staff was friendly. New to the menu is Edenama (sp?) the Vegetarian Meat Soup was so flavorable, out of this world. Great vegan and vegetarian menu! And they deliver too!!! Our meal was: Crabmeat Cheese Wonton: yummy and light Edenama Vegetarian Meat Soup Vegetarian egg rolls Vegetarian Chicken with Broccoli We will be back... or calling to for delivery. Outstanding.
(5)C. T.
BEST Chinese food in Denver for vegetarians. They have an entire vegetarian substitute side of the menu. BOOYA! Also, family owned= awesome.
(5)Erin J.
Okay... Went back again even though I said I was done with it... Ordered the lemon chicken combo meal, my hubby got the chicken and broccoli and both were AMAZING. So good that I even ate the left overs the next day. I could become a loyal fan again...

I am, sadly, forced to make an unfavorable update. Sunny Garden claimed to have vegan food, but the last time we were in, a server there informed us that there has always been egg powder in all of their fake meats. He claimed it was still vegan because it wasn't an actual egg being used, "just egg powder". Is it made from real eggs? Yes. I am very disappointed. We no longer trust them enough to even eat a tofu dish they offer. We will not be back.
(1)Jaimie S.
We get delivery from this place at least once a week...everything on the menu is great. We always get fried rice, creaky chicken, and spring rolls.
(4)Suzy S.
Many Chinese restaurants offer a large vegetarian selection, but rarely do you see such a vast selection (if any) of VEGAN items. It was really cool to go with Stacey and Scott and all order off the vegan menu and tray some faux meat. Being a carnivore, I was really intrigued by the way the "beef" and "chicken" were made. I enjoyed my sesame "chicken", but found the orange "beef" to be really convincing. The sauce for both dishes was great! How did they do that without using any animals??? One star off for the ambiance, or lack thereof. Even if it is in a strip mall, there is a lot of room for improvement - do a little decorating and turn the heater on please!
(4)Brian M.
Great crispy shrimp, but I recommend ordering it with the orange sauce instead of the spicy pungent sauce that comes with it. Sadly this the beef lo mien and the fried rice are the only stand out items I've had. I see all the great reviews in regards to their vegetarian menu. I will have to give that a whirl. They are pretty quick with the delivery. Typically around twenty min's.
(3)James P.
This has the most extensive vegetarian Chinese menu I've seen in a long time, and the food is great. Reminded me of Taiwan.
(5)Jerad M.
now this is a pretty good chinese restaurant. the atmosphere is a bit questionable. there were 2 kids (the wait staff) doing homework at one of the up front tables, our table was sticky, which creeped me out. we got our egg drop soup, and crispy snack things, but got no sweet and sour sauce. and none of the tables had salt and pepper. we asked for pepper, and they brought it out. then when our meal was brought out they asked if we were done with the pepper. funny, but we were so... but... the price, and the food were both great. i had the orange chicken, which was big pieces of white meat. great flavor, easy to cut. the combination came with soup, fried rice, 2 wantons, and your main meal. all for like $6.25 i think. drinks are $0.75 more, still not bad. hot tea was was from a bag, but was surprisingly good.

Sunny Gardens is saved in my cellphone as "Yummy Garden," because I mistakenly remembered the name as such and since then it has stuck. I love this place. It's a little bit of a drive, and as with most places in Denver, I pretty much order the same couple of things here, so I can't comment on the entire menu. But this place gets big thumbs up from me for having delicious vegetarian/vegan mock meat dishes. The vegetarian sesame chicken with tofu is GREAT (you can also get it without the tofu), and i also enjoyed the veggie orange chicken -- a nice mild sauce instead of some sticky syrup as orange chicken sometimes consists of. I really prefer the veggie chicken dishes to the veggie beef, but my vegan significant other (who is the inspiration for finding these random places that surprise us with vegan items on the menu) actually prefers the veggie beef items. Having lived in San Francisco I was used to many Chinese food places having mock meat dishes, but I think this is the first I've found in Denver. They really are so tasty that I start to crave it on random evenings. All Denver area veggies should check out Yummy Garden -- I bet you'll be adding it into your cellphone with that name as well :)

Not top 100 in US. When compared to Chinese food in Los Angeles, San Fancisco and Vancouver BC, this food is average at best.
(3)Lee C.
The take out menu is more extensive than the in house it seems, I'm sure you can get whatever. Found this on yelp and it was close went for a try. I was scared when he brought the egg rolls without any sauces then disappeared. We had to find him to ask for sauce and only then were they brought out. It's a pretty standard thing to have those brought and I would suggest to them they at least offer it vs. assume people don't want it. That said, my mood certainly changed once the meals were brought. I had the sesame chicken and my girlfriend had the beef and broccoli. Both were outstanding and ample. Egg roles were good, but missed something we couldn't put our fingers on. Cheese croutons were a bit soggy but still tasty. And we got outta there for $25 including tip. Will definitely go back and am looking forward to it.
(4)Megan D.
This was pretty good for fake meat. The texture was great on the fake beef and chicken. I was pretty dissapointed in the sauces though. They were pretty much water and flavorless. I would go here in a pinch but I'd make the longer drive to Imperial, it's worth it.
(3)Miranda M.
I've never been to the restaurant, but do order delivery from here more frequently that I should. They have an awesome vegetarian section with natural vegetarian meats and they cook their tofu well which is a big decider for me. They usually deliver pretty quickly. On average about 30 minutes.
(5)Greg H.
I live near this little family run eatery and so maybe I am a little biased. It's delicious. The sesame beef with crispy wonton combination is my personal favorite. The meat is fresh and the vegetables are crisp. The sauces are not greasy and you can taste the quality of all the ingredients. They are very friendly and it's easy to become a fan. The BBQ Beef is also very good.
(4)Aaron L.
Awesome vegetarian friendly and fake meat options. Love it!

We recently returned to Sunny Gardens for some take-out. Grabbed the mock Orange Beef, mock Sweet & Sour Chicken, and Veggie Lo Mein. All dishes were very tasty and we won't be waiting so long to go back.
(4)T P.
This place is excellent...for a strip mall atmosphere, best chinese I have had in Denver....go for food not chinese dragons and ostentatious decor!!!! I will def be back-also has delivery....
(5)Stacey B.
attention vegans and vegetarians, go here! it might be slightly out of the way, but the mock chicken and beef are delicious! i really liked their tofu as well, though the size could be a bit much to handle for those who don't particularly enjoy tofu. you definitely get the real flavor and texture of tofu here, whereas i've found that most eaters of tofu usually want it very firm and untofu like. on to the mock meat, the menu said it was made from tofu and mushrooms and some other things, if any of you have ever had quorn products from whole foods, it's very much like that, very very yummy. i had the sesame mock chicken and it comes surrounded by beautiful green broccoli that's cooked just right, not too raw, not too overdone. perfect. i really wish they had a general tso's, i know it's american, but sue me, i love it. oh and it was incredibly cute that right as i we sat down a seven year old took our drink orders.
(5)Scott B.
Great little family run strip mall American Chinese place. Which would not be remarkable in itself, but a menu that includes vegetarian mock chicken and mock beef is. I've had this stuff in many places, and this example was about as good as it gets. Had the Orange "Beef" and "Chicken" with Eggplant. Both were excellent- perfect sauce, fresh veg, good seasoning. The mock beef was especially good, although it's not particularly beefy. It doesn't need to be though, it's good on its own merits. Cheap too.

Trying to find good lunch options when your business partner is a hardcore vegan can be a challenge for someone like me. I will eat everything that gets in my path. I am occasionally a very indiscriminate eater. stale cornnuts found in my drawer? ok, I'll try a few- kinda eater. yep, I've eaten freegan meals before and thought "well that was tasty!" So to have a partner that won't even eat honey is occasionally tough. Sunny Gardens restaurant is in a nondescript strip mall on Yale and Monaco, across from the racquet club. They offer several mock-meat offerings that are fantastic! very unlike anything else I've had in town, although I do hear talk of it being common on the coasts. The mock orange beef was delicious and very convincing to my meat-loving mouth. chewy, with texture and sub-flavors very akin to good meat. The staff was very friendly, and the rest of the menu looks ok, but I haven't gone there, I like the mock items too much. For those weaning off meat, looking for an alternative, or already vegan and bored, try Sunny Gardens and the mock meat menu! S

i love this place. I'm vegetarian and I totally approve. Speedy deliver service and online ordering makes it super convenient for me.
(5)Jonathan S.
I'm pretty sure that eating this food will one day kill me but I've had Sunny Gardens twice and both times it was excellent. I especially enjoyed the General Tsao's chicken and the Chow Fun (which all Seinfeld fans should know is a broad noodle). One great thing about Sunny Gardens is that you can submit your order online and they deliver very quickly.
(5)J C.
Pretty good, but better exists. Good choice for take-home food. While I've never been a fan of egg foo yung this place is an exception. All sauces are good, as are the meats too. The fried rice isn't up my alley, but all else I've been pleased with. I haven't tried the vegetarian selections.
