Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

High Blood Pressure at Pizza Hut

Fast-food restaurants like Pizza Hut are not recommended to dine-in if you are diagnosed with high blood pressure. High Cholesterol at Pizza Hut

Whether large, medium or small, a pizza can boost your cholesterol levels instantly. You shouldn't eat more than one slice of any pizza your order at Pizza Hut. If you're concerned with your high cholesterol, then it is wise to take your friends to Pizza Hut and share pizza among them slice by slice. You can also try pasta at Pizza Hut but ensure that you are not adding any dressing or extra cheese as you order pasta.

This is one of the best pizza places in town. Really good food, really friendly workers. I work at Republic Plaza so I get to go here as often as I want. I just wish I could get them to deliver on weekends.

This is one of my favorite lunch spots! They have pizza by the slice and pasta that's already been prepared for the lunch rush, or you can cook-to-order. It's a bit pricey for a few slices of pizza, but it really hits the spot! The guys in there are always super friendly and very laid back. I am a huge fan of their pasta, it is so good but even better when it's a daily special! Highly Recommend!

Have been here a few times and each time has been a wonderful experience. I come in with my father to grab lunch now and then and each time the guys have been super nice, on point and even remembered us today after we hadn't been in for a month or two. Made us feel special and that these guys take care of their customers. Will keep coming back always!

Excellent customer service and delicious food! The pan for the pasta special was empty and they were so busy I figured I'd need to order something else. The staff made me chicken marsala pasta to order in record time while keeping the line moving and serving happy customers. The short wait for the special was definitely worth it.!

They have great pizza at a great price ($3 a slice?), but they are only open until 3 which precludes any sort of late lunch or a slice of pizza before the commute home.

This is a first class establishment! I had lunch at Colore yesterday and the gents who work there are incredibly nice, helpful and genuine. Great for a slice of pizza, and their pasta looks delicious as well. If you are craving a quick bite of pizza or italian food downtown for lunch, this is the place to go. They are only open until 3, so make sure to get there before then!

Never fails at it best tasting original hand made pizza and sauce ! This pizzeria is the best in downtown Denver hands down ! The brothers who make their own place feel like coming home every-time I'm in town , I feel like la familia ! Grazie my friends and brothers for the best lunch pizza every time !

Great place for a quick lunch. Great pizza, pasta, and salad. You can buy pizza by the slice or as a whole. Also great for catering office lunches.

I got the Americana. 3 meats (pepperoni, steak, turkey) 3 veggies (shiitakes, bell peppers, onions). Needless to say this deep dish destination slayed me!!!! Like Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger said......"I'll be back!";-). Giving four stars because they warmed it up instead of making it from scratch on the spot in front of me.

Going to Pizzeria Coloré is always a pleasant experience. The portions are large & delicious, whether ur in the mood for slices or lasagna. Love their pizza & the veggie lasagna is one of the best I've had. The staff members are always friendly & welcoming. I really like going there for lunch, its pretty much my first choice.

Best pizza in town! The selection of pizza was unreal, it took 10 minutes just to decide which slice I wanted! And my decision couldn't have been more spectacular. As a New Yorker it is extremely hard to find good pizza out of state but these guys NAILED it. I will never go anywhere else for pizza in denver. If you haven't been you are missing out. On top of the amazing pizza, the customer service was impeccable. The owners are young and know how to run a business. It was my first experience but there will me MANY more in the future.

Such a great spot for lunch downtown! Their pizza is delicious, and they make so many different interesting types (eggplant white pizza, hello, yum!). They also have a variety of pastas, sandwiches, and other Italian foods. Their prices are reasonable and they are a crazy convenient walk through the alley from the Republic Plaza.

Pizzeria Colore is by far the best pizzeria in Denver. From the Foccacia bread, to the lasagna, to the pizzas, and salads; everything is made fresh and delicious no matter what you are craving. AND DID I MENTION THEY SERVE BREAKFAST. It is so hard nowadays to find a place to eat in Downtown Denver that's quick but is quality food. Yes, you can go to McDonald's, Noodles and Co., or Taco Bell but all of these are franchised, made days even weeks before you order, and warmed up from the freezer (Call that fresh? No.) Pizzeria Colore is fast, fresh, and made to the order. Whenever you are downtown and looking for a quick bite to eat I strongly recommend walking past Noodles turn the corner and try out Pizzeria Colore's Penne Pesto Pasta :) That by far is my favorite but you can't go wrong with anything you order!

I typically come here a few times a month. Pizza, vegetable lasagna, and caesar salads have always been AWESOME. I always leave full and happy. The staff is always very accomodating and quick, and I've never experienced a rude employee there. They make their caesar dressing from scratch, and it's literally the best I've ever had. The chocolate mousse is crazy good, and they just started carrying muffins (I got a blueberry one today, and I thought I was eating moist cake). If you work downtown, I highly recommend. I just need to make one of the younger guys there my boyfriend, so he can make me delicious food, because I don't cook.

Definitely has some of the best pizza in Denver. The owners are awesome, super friendly and always do their best to serve their customers quickly. This is one of the few places in Denver you can get a slice of white pizza and it is delicious. Also their pasta dishes and chicken parm is amazing. Worth the wait and priced reasonably for the amount of food you get.

WHOA!!!!! I am trying to get back to work after eating a slice of pizza from this place but all I can think about was how tasty that pizza was!!!!!!!!!! ONE SLICE of pizza with tomatoes and mushrooms cost ~$4. Thought it was kind of pricey but after eating it.....worth every penny. I am totally satisfied. Definitely will go back!

  • Renee K.

This place is doing some things right. Service is knowledgeable, friendly, prompt. The selection of pastas and pizzas is fantastic; classics mostly. But ... it's way overpriced, especially for an order-at-the-counter place. And the side salad is ridiculously plain, just mixed greens and tomato. The other salads are priced around $10, so I can't say that I've tried them.

    (3)
  • Stephanie C.

This place is across the street from my office so I go there quite a bit and I have NEVER been disappointed. The opposite, in fact. It is very difficult for me not to always order the pizza because it is so great. NY style, chewy, cheesy, saucy, all at the same time. But I frequently order the pasta special of the day...they make it right when you order it. I have tried a calzone and it was amazing. Today I tried the lasagna with meat sauce. SO fresh, so delicious. again - cheesy and saucy. My husband got the vegetable lasagna and said it was better than what I ordered. I do believe anything you order will be fantastic. Those guys are in there busting their butts every single day. In a way I wish it wasn't so good - it is dangerously close to my office.... :)

Everyone has a favorite pizza place, and without a doubt, many Denverites would regard Pizzeria Colore Express is exactly that. It's located right in the heart of downtown Denver on Court Place near its intersection with Broadway. Colore's main draw is definitely its New York Style Pizza that it sells by both the slice and by the pie, which come in a standard style in addition to a white pizza. Whichever style you might choose, you won't find a pizza anywhere near Denver that can rival it. But Colore's excellent food does not stop there. Numerous pasta dishes, very hearty lasagnas, and a surprisingly good sub are included on the menu. The service is very speedy during the lunch hours compared to other business-lunch-hour joints. The only draw back, as you might imagine for top-notch pizza, is the price. Anything over two slices and a Mr. Pibb (everyone knows Mr. Pibb goes best with pizza) and you are looking at quadruple digits. If you have visiting friends from New York over who want to trash Denver food, or if you need a once-a-month treat to indulge in, than Pizza Colore Express is worth investigating. Unless you are wearing a suit to work everyday, then it probably won't wind up as your everyday hangout.

I used to really enjoy this place - however the quality has been on the decline for the last six months. Don't go here. Unprofessional employees, i.e., poor hygiene, bad attitudes, etc., over priced for the quality, and just not as good as other places. Wouldn't recommend to anyone. Also 1 star is 1 too many! But required :|

I have been going to this pizza place for nearly a decade. I am never disappointed. They not only have fabulous pizza, but also pastas, salad, a blue plate special, calzones, canollis, and fruit salad that is super yummy. The woman who opened this shop left her sons in charge, and they have stuck to her tried and true recipes. I love this place and i won't go anywhere else for a slice.

  • Drea F.

This place is certainly a gem if you like some tasty handcrafted pie. It is obvious that these guys know a lot more than how to toss some dough, because everything here is delicious. I am always happy to discover that a little place such as this has some cooks with a knowledge of food, as well as a passion for it. Salads are great. Pizza is fabulous. AND if you ever get a chance, you must have their breakfast sandwich with pepperoni and Jalepeno on foccacia!!! Only wish I was downtown more often!

  • Ted C.

I like Pizzeria Colore! I have only ever been for lunch and have yet to be disappointed. Its a order at the counter, wait for your food and take it to your table kind of place. I'm actually still not sure if you are supposed to clear your table after or not, so I do, just to avoid being THAT GUY. I have had the Pizza and the Calzone. Pizza comes out quick and is a great way to get out of the office but only be gone for a half hour. The Calzone took a bit to cook and so don't order that unless you have some more time. My coworker always gets the pasta and it looks delish so I think if I can be disciplined enough to not get a slice I'll try that next time, but that's kind of like asking Cookie Monster to pass on a double chocolate chunk in lieu of a hot fudge....

    (4)
  • Kate L.

Colore offers an excellent variety of lunch dishes. My favorite dish by far is the vegetarian lasagna - layers of spinach, mushrooms and other veggies layered with perfectly cooked noodles with just the right amount of red sauce, mozzerella and ricotta. Seriously, whoever makes that lasagna knows exactly what they're doing and never makes a bad batch. Their meat lasagna is equally satisfying. The staff is friendly, fast, and understands that you're both ravenous for lunch and in a rush to get back to the office. There is plenty of space to sit by the counter or toward the back of the restaurant.

  • Amy F.

close to work. I love pizza! Prices are decent. Service was fast and friendly. the Pizza was just right. lots of other items on their menu- pastas, sandwhiches, calzones, side salads, etc. Will go back!

Expensive prices for pizza. It was obvious that their food was made hours prior and they simply heated up when requested.

I usually get the special on a salad. Today I had the pasta special modified - half the pasta, twice the meat and veggies. AMAZING penne with sausage, peppers, artichokes, tomatoes, onions, spinach in a light tomato cream sauce. Delish!!! Pasta is an approved "base" when drinking on a school night is involved. I approve!

Since my office moved a few months ago I have been on the hunt for a cheap, tasty lunch spot within walking distance. After grueling, intense study I think I have settled on this adorable little spot. It gets pretty hectic in there, but the staff works happily and quickly so I'm always in and out in less than 10 minutes. I don't know if it's name is "Pizzeria Colore Express!" or just simply "Pizzeria Colore" but I certainly hope for the latter, because I'm all about the unnecessary exclamation points. For a grab-and-go pizza joint they always have an amazing selection of by-the-slice pizza, and at $3 a good-sized slice I don't even have to feel bad for my sad little bank account. Warning: although they do accept credit cards, it's only for charges above $5. There's no signage to warn you about this until you get to the register, either, so you might end up having to stack on an impulse-buy dessert in order to pay up. If you find yourself in this situation, I strongly suggest the rice pudding. It's wonderful and makes me feel like a little kid licking the spoon in my grandmother's kitchen.

    (4)
  • Tiffany Y.

Friendly staff, short wait, $4.05 (incl tax) for a slice of yummy spinach and tomato pizza. No complaints. They have a sign posted saying that credit card transactions must be at least $5 but they didn't adhere to that policy.

This is a place I would probably have to write two reviews for as I've had vastly different experiences. Most recently though I have been getting breakfast there. First, the food is very good, fresh and made to order. The reason for the one star is the quality of service, and though the food is exceptional, I do not plan on supporting this restaurant for a while. This morning I went in for breakfast and received grief upon walking in the door. It seemed like I am bothering them to make me breakfast. I did not ask for anything outrageous, just merely ordered off the menu. If you don't want to make people breakfast DO NOT SERVE breakfast!!! This was the second time I have felt this way in this establishment, and I am not alone as I have coworkers that have had similar experiences. I for one will continue to support restaurants that make me feel welcome, but if you don't want my business then I won't give it to you.

  • Joe P.

This is a convenient lunch spot for quality pizza, pasta, etc. It's not just pizza and sandwiches here either. It's an opportunity to load up on asagna, baked ziti, or pasta with giant meatballs. There are also good-looking salads for sale. A complementary piece of tasty bread comes with every pasta order. If one forgoes soda for a cup of water, the prices aren't bad. Where else can one go in downtown Denver for Italian-style lunch selections like these under 10 bones?

    (3)
  • Mit B.

Consistency is the name of the game here. I eat here for lunch or breakfast at least once per week and it consistently delivers quality. If you are looking for a $5.00 lunch, this is not the place for you but if you like quality food and do not want to go to a sit-down place, this place delivers. The egg sandwiches in the morning are mouth watering.

    (5)
  • Ken K.

The staff is super-friendly and fast here and while I appreciate their hard work scrambling during lunch hour, I simply have never been blown away by Pizza Colore's pizza. It's never bad, but it's also never amazing. Why Colore? They serve pizza with your choice of three sauces: standard red tomato sauce, pesto, or white olive oil style. They also have baked ziti, chicken and mushrooms, and other quickserv American-Italian food. The place is small and given the downtown lunch crowd, it might be hard to find a seat during peak hours. If you want pizza and enjoy variety, it's a good bet.

  • Christopher S.

I absolutely love the other restaurant, so I was happy to see an express version on the opposite end of downtown. They may still be working out some kinks here, but I'm willing to give them a few more tries. The slice was high quality and a modified version of the single serving whole pies you get at the Writer's Square location. A very good slice. My salad was a disaster. About half was so rotten (not just wilted, and yes, I know what red leaf is) it was sticky and slimy. The staff was good enough to make it right with a refund, so that warrants further visits. We'll see how it goes. I'm hoping for good things. I do not mind paying a bit more for quality, but the quality needs to be there. Go Pizza Calore, I'm on your side and hoping you make it.

  • A T.

The pizza in this joint may be tops in Denver, definitely reminds me of a NYC Pizzeria. I would have given it five stars, however, the customer service is quite fickle. Your experience will depend upon whom serves you. I've had super friendly service and utterly clueless service. I'll agree with a previous commenter in saying some of the staff can sincerely make you feel unwelcome, and as if they're doing you a favor by taking your order, etc.. I'm not sure if I'll return after my last experience, as I'm hoping to find equal or similar pizza downtown, any suggestions?

Good place to eat. I had the Italian combo sandwich and it was great. Lots of meat, fresh cheese, with the dressing in the side. I will go back.

Consistency is the name of the game here. I eat here for lunch or breakfast at least once per week and it consistently delivers quality. If you are looking for a $5.00 lunch, this is not the place for you but if you like quality food and do not want to go to a sit-down place, this place delivers. The egg sandwiches in the morning are mouth watering.

Huge and tasty pizza slices, decent prices, but I really wish they'd stop calling me "miss."

There is plenty of space to sit by the counter or toward the back of the restaurant.

close to work.

  • Tiffany Y.

Friendly staff, short wait, $4.05 (incl tax) for a slice of yummy spinach and tomato pizza. No complaints. They have a sign posted saying that credit card transactions must be at least $5 but they didn't adhere to that policy.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
