Love this place! You walk into a diner and really don't know what to expect. The service is great, and the food never disappoints! I am shocked this place isn't five stars. While the prices look high, you get sooo much food. The sides salads are like regular-sized salads at other restaurants. I seem to always get the fish, but their appetizers are always great, and I love how everything smells and looks so fresh. I can't get enough of it! I love that every time I order something, i know I will have enough to bring home for leftovers. So yummy!

Let me Tarantino this review and give you my conclusion first: This place is the biggest let down I've experienced while dining in Denver and should be avoided. Now let's give some back story... My sister and I are both from the metro Detroit area, which like Chicago, has a prominent Greek population and some of the best Greek cuisine. Both of us were feeling a bit home sick and saw what else but "Pete's Greek Town Cafe" as a hopeful slice of home. Boy were we in for a let down. First, our server seemed like she could have been high as she forgot our drink order then proceeded to walk to the kitchen and dining area with no purpose, and was just out of it. She then proceeded to forget our soups until our check arrived, while largely ignoring us throughout the meal. Next, the food: The saganaki was the only redeeming aspect of the meal, but with a close to $10 price tag, it was very overpriced (saganaki in the Detroit area would be $6 tops, even at a high end restaurant). I had the leg of lamb and my sister the chops, both being just okay, but again extremely overpriced. The sides consisted of frozen steamed veggies and plain rice. It was one of the most depressing looking plates I have ever seen. Normally Greek sides will be stewed green beans, peas, rice with Greek tomato sauce or roasted potatoes. Most these items seem to not exist here. To make up for this, we asked for tomato sauce for our rice and got what tasted like Prego mixed with a jar of Greek spice packets. Let me just say that I absolutely hate the fact that I have to give this place 1 star, as all I wanted was a legitimate Greek restaurant that wasn't a Lebanese place masquerading as Greek to give me a slice of home. Instead we got a half assed dinner that any non Greek could make better at home with a McCormicks Greek seasoning shaker. If I owned this place, I would be ashamed of what I was serving as a representation of my heritage. Save your money and go elsewhere. Oh and the worst part is this guy owns almost every Greek restaurant downtown, which further shatters my hopes and dreams.

The cold syrup on the lukewarm pancake wasn't a great place to start but the pancake was only going to get colder. The country skillet was actually quite delicious. Ugh, stepped into the bathroom and it was vile, vile absolutely vile. Luckily I had sanitizer in the car. Friend had the meat lovers skillet and raved about it. Another friend had the Gyro sandwich with waffle fries and he enjoyed it as well.

Gyro and waffle fries were decent but nothing really memorable. As much as I love halibut I couldn't justify paying that price for a quick lunch. Plus Denver is nowhere near the ocean. The menu was fairly large. If I ever return here I'd probably try something different.

It looks closed from the outside, but don't keep driving! Very neat little greek place with plenty of non-greek food as well. They have a separate room that looks like they host parties in there, complete with DJ. Nice staff, many of them seem happy to work there. Will be back.

Ordered taste of greek combination platter. Very satisfied with the portion, variety of grilled meat, and seasoning. However, wine was certainly on the pricey side, for a relatively casual Greek restaurant. I will come back for lunch - but not for dinner. The place is akwardly too big and missing the intimacy of "cafe".

Well that was, um yeah. So no joke, there we were, driving down Colfax, looking for something that was open New Years' morning and wound up at what had been one of the hubs' favorite restaurants. Still decorated for Christmas (but I'm not judging since my tree is still up) and 1 other table occupied we got our pic of seats in an enormous dining room. The breakfast menu is fairly large, with a choice of omelettes, benedicts, french toast, skillets and even a variety of meat and egg options. The portions are pretty large, and the food comes out fast. The Italian sausage was very salty, but the eggs were perfect. My husband's gyro pita breakfast looked much better, but he found it under-seasoned. We waited several minutes for the check, then approached the register, turns out our waitress was busy eating her own breakfast. I'm not necessarily ruling Pete's out, but I'm not making a special trip either.

It appears the two servers on duty this lovely morning arent getting along, as they are arguing over coffee duties. My server is in a big rush this morning, as she started walking away while I was still ordering, and a quarter way through she brings our to go box and bill. "Damn lady, you gonna offer me a refill on coffee first?" Well it appears not.. she didnt come back to our table until I was putting food in our handy to go box. Overall my son and I love this place, but ive developed an itch for yelp so I suppose I better speak my mind about todays service. The country skillet is my favorite, and overall the food is good. I suppose I will come back again, but not for a while. Too many other good joints to try

Pete's Greek Town Cafe is suprising delious! I had my first Saganaki "Flaming" cheese experience... Don't forget to say "Opaaaaaa" when they light it on fire for you. The Cheese was so perfect. Than I tried the Grilled Halibut for my main course... cooked perfectly and seasoned very well. But... my memory of dining here was actually The Service... I felt like I was at a 5 star restaurant.. Elizabeth at the Lounge was phenomenal with her attention to detail and with her suggestions and recommendations... she is a outstanding Bartender as well mixing cocktails so perfectly where they actually were flavorful. Besides her wonderful personality and big bright white smile... she is absolutely goregous :) Go to the Lounge at Pete's... and I promise you will be moved and will become a regular once you get to experience the food and attention from Elizabeth...

I love Pete's! Very authentic, amazing Greek good at a great price. I used to live by Pete's University Cafe and went there all the time. I now live by Pete's Central but my parents said it was very empty and uninviting there, we made the trip to Pete's Greek instead, never disappoints! I'm Greek myself, (moms last name is Papadakis, doesn't get much more Greek than that!) I am very picky about my Greek food, this place is the real deal. Highly recommend!

I adore the stuffed peppers here. I literally dream about them, just ask my husband. He's been dragged to Pete's on more than one occassion becuase I just "NEED the peppers!". I hate sharing them, I must have my own plate. The Tzatziki is also fabulous and I love that lemon chicken soup in the winter. Also great hummus. The Greek salad is fabulous and I've only met amazing waitstaff here. I adore Pete's but I will stick to my normal order here (well one reviewer might have sold me on the Greek Spaghetti...) because the two times I've deviated I've gotten a brittle spinach pie that lacked seasoning and very lack luster Moussaka. But please still try it! Just make sure you order well!

Ordered a large spinach pie. Paid $15. Opened it at home to find 3 sad limp pieces jammed in a box. Incredibly irritated. I went out of the way to get this for a party and now I'm hugely inconvenienced and paid way too much for a pitiful looking 'large pie.' I can't bring this to a friend's house! How embarrassing!

I ordered the chicken fried steak with mash potatos & gravy. Since it was dinner time I had to get the dinner with a salad which consisted of one/1 tomato wedge, one/1 slice of cucumber, one /1 dried up olive and the remaining of lettuce. I ask for an extra dinner roll and when I got home I found that they gave me two/2 hoagie rolls ... really two/2 ten inch sandwich rolls without butter. The veggie like so many other have stated was a California blend with one/1 broccoli floret, one/1 cauliflower floret, three/3 carrot slices and the remaining of broccoli stalk. I paid over $18.00 which included the tip for something I could've saved at least $8.00 by going to the Black Eye Pea and getting fresh veggies and hot wheat dinner rolls with butter. This is what I get for working in the yard all day with just having eaten two donuts and a large coffee all day until this HUGE MISTAKE @ 20:30. This is the reason its been fifth teen years since I have eaten at this place ... no wonder when I see the place I keep driving on and not looking back ... will start doing so again. Also, the prices are Too High for the quality of food which is of a high school cafeteria level.

So good! This place is totally cheesy and kind of a dive, but the food and service are great. GET THE FLAMING CHEESE APP! Delicious. All of the entrees were have had have been good, we love the Moussaka and the Greek Spaghetti. The BAKLAVA is a must! YUMMY!

Ordered the taste of Greece and Grecian combo plater for a family of 4. Definitely a ton of food for all of us! The lamb was very nice. However, listening to the waitresses complain about customers while they sat at the counter was a total turn off. After getting a disgusted look when I asked for a water refill, I have to say these ladies need to get a better understanding of customer service.

The food here tastes exactly like what you would find at Pete's Kitchen; it's edible, but in a mediocre sort of way. Everything is just so bland. The atmosphere is less diner and more geriatric. The location is convenient, especially given that they have free parking, but I don't really go to restaurants for the parking lot. I won't say that I'd never go back here, but I also can't see why I would. There's so many better options out there, like Gyroz or Jerusalem.

Tried the stuffed peppers, greek spaghetti, chicken/lemon/rice soup and yogurt sauce with pita as a group. The food was decent but nothing meriting the high prices, especially knowing how much the same ingredients would have cost at a grocery store. Easily spent $18 a person, can find the same thing elsewhere for half the price. I definitely felt a bit ripped off walking out and will not be returning.

Pita bread is amazing. The salads are very good as well although I wish they served the type you get in Greece with huge chunks of feta, green pepper, tomato and onion without the lettuce. The gyro is a little too salty for my liking. The service was spot on and gives you that home style feel that you get in Greece. Overall, great experience and I will definitely be back!

I love that I live near PGTC (as Mark T. dubbed the location). Have been here several times with different friends--we always leave stuffed and satisfied. The calamari here is just right, with lemon wedges and delicious dipping sauce. I usually either go for the moussaka, pastisio or the combo of both. These are two Greek dishes I hadn't tried before coming to this restaurant. So hearty and unique! I am surprised when other people order the gyros or Mediterranean plates you can find in other Greek/Mediterranean establishments. Try something new and different, folks! Get a real taste of Greece from PGTC. Highly recommended!

I've driven by this place so many times and finally tried it one Sunday afternoon. The portions are huge! My gyro platter was decent but nothing special. The restaurant was really dirty inside and they need to wipe down the menus, mine had hair and food stains on it- nasty. I can see how this would be a late night drunk place to eat, but I won't be back.

My son and I went for a late lunch/early dinner. Staff was incredibly friendly and very attentive including making recommendations since it was our first time there. The dinner salad was huge with lots of veggies, maybe a bit heavy on the dressing. My son had the Gyros plate and loved it, had tons of it leftover to take home. I had the Vegetable Moussaka, oh my goodness! So delicious! The side of veggies left a bit to be desired, seemed like a basic frozen California mix, good but nothing special. All in all, a really great meal!

Ugh, so conflicted about this place. I stopped here Sunday morning before the rest of the world was awake to grab a quick bite to eat. Quick being the opportive word here...... I walked in and there were maybe three or four other tables seated in here, mostly solo diners like myself. I was promptly greeted my one of the two servers working there and she sat me at a booth near the front door. This place 70's diner written all over it and I dig it. I hate the new flashy, trendy diner out there that try to be all fancy pants and I rather have an old school place like this that focuses on the food. Well they definitely focus on the food at Pete's just not the service. Flo (names have been changed to protect the identity of someone who needs to take a Hospitality 101 class) greeted me and dropped off the menu before I could even tell her that all I wanted for the moment was a cup of coffee. She left then went to a eight or nine party table to take their order so I wistfully just sat there, admiring their drinks and wondering what a cup of hot coffee would taste like at that very moment. She finally came back and I was sure to order everything at once there before god knows when she would be back again. She brought me over a cup of coffee and I wish I would have stuck with water because it was seriously the worst cup of coffee I've ever had. Like worse than car dealership meets church coffee. That stuff was rank! The worst part was that once again I was having drink envy by staring across the street at the Starbucks with happy people walking out of their with their hot java drinks. Sigh. I took a chance on one of their funky skillets and went with the Greek skillet with gyro meat, hashbrowns, onions, kalamata onions, peppers and fresh pita bread with tsaziki sauce. A little unorthodox for early morning breakfast but I can respect getting ethnic before it hits 9am. The food made up for every bad instance that happened before this. It was absolutely delectable and such a huge portion I couldn't finish it all. I made little mini gyros with the pita, tsaziki sauce and gyro meat and it hit the spot! Even though the meal made me happy it also frustrated me because that will definitely make me come back for more but the lack of service will make me think twice before stepping into this establishment again.

The atmosphere is VERY old-school, but the food was good/very good. I had the "Pete's Greek Town Plate" with mousaka, pastitsio and spinach pie. I thought the mousaka was good and that the pastitsio and spinach pie were very good.

I love it here! I have been eating here for years and every time I'm in Denver and want greek food this is where I go or their other place just a block down the street! The services is always good and the food is yummy! You get lots of food for the price. I always end up having some left over for the next day :) Thanks for the great years!

I recently went here for the first time in quite a while, and it was pretty okay. The service was nice and fast, and the the food was pretty decent. We had some hummus, just okay. I ordered the 'veggie with meat' gyro. The fillings were bountiful but the pita was too hard to chew, so I used some of the leftover pita wedges from the hummus for scooping. The potato salad that comes with it was alright, possibly store bought? My boyfriend ordered the mousakka upon my suggestion, I am a fan of this dish but turns out he is not-too rich for him. They give you a huge portion, with a great side of stewed green beans and tomatoes, and a small block of feta. This meal would hold me over for the entire day! *I am a big fan of the spicy feta dip, feta lovers try this!

My husband and I absolutely LOVE this place! We go at least twice a month, and the service is always wonderful. The waitresses are very friendly and don't look alarmed when my husband asks for a bowl of lemons (which he does at practically every restaurant) to go with his food. Our favorite item is the Grecian Combo Platter, which is enough food for us to share for dinner and the leftovers are generally used for my husband's lunch the next day. This is definitely our go-to Greek restaurant because of the friendly service and delicious food!
Kudos for being open on Christmas eve as my two other choices (hound and 3 lions) were closed. The gyro plate is ridiculously huge tho its usually hit or miss if its too greasy or the bread kinda stale so I decided to try the cajun chicken and shrimp fettuccini. The chicken wasn't overly spicy and the shrimp were huge, some had tails on them and some didn't? Friend had the leg of lamb and it was a tad dry but still tasted good tho some mint sauce would of helped. Soup was good but the salad was drowned in dressing. Fast and friendly service and they have a full bar.

I never wanted to leave this review. Food: I friggin love their food. The hummus is super garlic-y, and the gyros are exactly what you should expect. I've never had a bad meal here, honestly, but we usually stick to salads and sandwiches, and I've never gotten breakfast food. I occasionally crave it! Service: Our waitresses have always been nice and prompt. Management: DISGUSTING. We went in for a lunch the other day and witnessed the most uncomfortable, disturbing, and disgusting behavior from the older, fit, gray, shaggy haired man behind the counter (is this Pete? If so, he should be ashamed). The meal went totally fine. We were patiently awaiting our check as we finished up when I looked over at the register and caught this guy touching the waitresses ass. She looked furious, and told him "If you pinch me again..." loudly, before trailing off, finishing the interaction with "The customers are watching." You poor, poor girl. It took every ounce of my willpower to contain myself. I'm ashamed that I didn't say anything, and for that I am so sorry. No one, NO ONE, should ever be subjected to that. EVER. Please, please quit. I'd have thrown a plate of gyro meat in his face or broken his nose with a quick and vicious jab. When you leave, report him. As much as I love the food, I can't stomach supporting this behavior with my presence in any of the Pete's establishments. Makes me sick just thinking about it.

If you go here with a friend, you must get the Grecian Combo Platter. I've never eaten in the restaurant, but my brother and I get takeout from here often when he comes over to watch football, and this is the perfect meal for two. Not only do you get enough veggies to make multiple salads, you get delicious hot pita bread, HUGE hunks of feta, and enough meat for huge carnivores like my brother. Everything is seasoned perfectly, and doesn't need Tzatziki (although it's delicious). Follow it up with the baklava and you've got one heck of a meal for a really reasonable price. Love this place!

Had a Gyro Sandwich: oily bread with meat, onions, and a tomato slice. It was a mess. There was way too much meat in it. The bread was dripping in oil and hard to chew. A quarter of the meat was burnt to a crisp. And the "good meat" was bland with little taste. The sandwich ended up blowing up on me, and I had to attack it with a knife and fork. Despite the bland taste, the aftertaste is brutal - its yucky and oily, and your gonna need some soda or ice cream or something to cover it up. The potato salad side was... average. Nothing objectionable, but definitely nothing to write home about. The service was good, and the waitress was very nice. She was very prompt with refills and attentive. The restaurant itself has pretty tacky decor. The atmosphere is dark and gloomy. And the yelling in the kitchen towards the end of the meal definitely didn't help. Some cook made a mess and didn't clean it up - causing it to burn onto something? I didn't finish my food. I would give this restaurant a 1 star, the food was terrible, but I only tried 1 dish. And so I'll give them 2, maybe I just got the only bad dish. Save yourself $4.00 and go to KFC or McDonalds. It'll taste better.

I've been to Pete's Cafe a gazillion times but just tried Pete's Greek Town Cafe for the first time last week. The place is huge - I had no idea - and sadly on a weeknight around 6:30 pm it wasn't terribly crowded. I will say that the service was outstanding, which isn't surprising based on my visits to the cafe. Pete must really emphasize customter service in his training and expectations of his staff. Two thumbs up to that. We started with the spanakopita which we both liked flavorwise. It wasn't terribly hot and you could tell it had been microwaved. A little dissapointed with that. I had the greek salad with gyro meat and my husband had the gyros sandwich. So we essentially had the same thing but mine was a salad and his was a sandiwch! Nevertheless, we both enjoyed our entrees and the portions were so large we took leftovers home for lunch the next day. I thought the tzatziki was AMAZING. I could eat that on everything. Everyday! Overall a very enjoyable experience.

When not in the garden state, I always do my best to seek out the closest thing to a NJ diner. With Pete's Greek Town Cafe, I struck gold. We first went to one of Pete's other locations further down the street, which stated on the website, is open 24 hours. Well as it turns out, this particular location was closed, yet there was a man outside who provided us with a voucher for 10% off at this location (everywhere I went in Colorado, I got 10% off!). We learned that there are a number of various Pete's location around this same area of the city (how Greek of them!). We happily were seated in a booth and ordered the veggie mouusaka and a gyro with waffle fries. Everything was super yummy and the fries were piping hot! (always a plus). Our waitress was friendly, the food was great and priced right, and the restaurant in general had a cozy feel to it. Now, if you are looking for traditional diner food you will want to go elsewhere because with the exception of a few items, Pete's is almost strictly Greek food only. Pay Pete a visit and yell OPA!

I don't generally go to this one, but when I want a Greek salad, this is more the place.. They add Klamaths and dolmades, which Pete's kitchen doesn't even offer.. Once, I was feeling a bit adventurous and ordered the vegetarian moussaka.. I will never eat that again.. It was. It good at all, and it was not anything like the moussaka I have made and eaten before. They are getting four instead of five stars because they serve such disgustingness.. On the flip side, this particular Pete's has the BEST pancakes in town.. For real!!

I am a greek transplant from California and have been on a quest to find good greek food in Denver. Sadly, this is NOT it. It is so beyond americanized that you would not even recognize the food as greek (due to a serious lack of flavor and care) had it not been for the names. The meat was dry, the vegetables old, and there were very few if any seasonings used. I would not recommend this if you are looking for any semblance of quality, authentic greek food.

We gave Pete's Greek Town a try today because we were both craving Greek food. I was under the impression that this place was more of a cafe, but it's really just a diner. The inside is pretty dingy. I wouldn't go so far as to call it dirty, but the decor leaves a lot to be desired. We ordered three small plates to get a good feel for what Pete's offered. The spanakopita was pretty good. It had the right balance of spinach and pastry, and had a nice flavor. We also tried the saganaki, which was ok in and of itself, but the accompanying pitas were a little dry. Same holds true for the tzatziki: the yogurt itself was fine, but the accompanying tomatoes were white, and the cucumbers were bitter. Service was also spotty. Our waitress handed us menus and then immediately asked if we were ready to order. We had hardly been in our seats for 30 seconds. There did seem to be a pretty good crowd here, so Pete's Greek Town may have a following as a diner, but it's a little disappointing as a Greek restaurant.

Dirty. I really don't like giving only one star, but I have to in this case. The service was friendly. The food wasn't very good. It was like fast-food Greek food. The portions were huge. The food was very greasy. It was just reheated to order. To be fair, our order included spanakopita and moussaka, which aren't normally made-to-order. I was glad, though, that the cooks didn't make our food then and there, because...one cook was PICKING HIS NOSE in the kitchen. Repeatedly. And that right there brings it down to one star.

I get the chicken kabob for lunch quite a bit, thus my duke-dom, *breathes on nails and polishes them on a ripped shirt*. To be honest, this place is kind of weird in a way that fascinates me. It is massively huge but seems to be mostly empty. They run around speaking Greek. I don't care how they pay the bills as long as the delicious food keeps coming.

My wife and I live one block away, so it's real easy to just walk there. The place is decent and the staff is pleasant too. The food is hit or miss, depending on what you order. Obviously, ordering Greek will get you a pleasant meal. Ordering a Philly cheese steak will be disappointing. Otherwise, the place is clean and nice.

My (very Greek) friend has been encouraging me to check this spot out for months. And, since a craving for gyros struck fast and hard yesterday at lunchtime, it was my destiny (or, as George McFly opined, it was my density) to visit this spot just up the street from my office. I went with a basic gyro and fries plate. The meat was spectacular and the pita was soft and delicious. The fries were outstanding, too - perfect traditional diner fries. I will say this - there were enough onions on my sandwich to feed a small onion-loving army. Holy hell was I fragrant for the remainder of the day. The service was fantastic and the guy behind the counter was especially friendly. We got right in and out. I'm excited to go back in the evening to try one of their dinner platters.

honestly i really liked this place. i just wanted to go out and grab a quick bite to eat with my friend because i didnt feel like cooking dinner and i stumbled upon this restaurant. when we walked in the waitresses smiled as they greeted us and were very quick to seat us. My friend and I were served by a very nice blonde greek girl who was quite good at serving (she knew when to be quick and when to give us a few minutes). the food was awesome. the meat was seasoned just right and everything went extremely well together. even the owner was extremely homey. he made sure that my friend and i had a good experience. he almost reminded me of my grandfather with the way he carried himself in a sense. he was an extremely respectable man. the only complaint i have has to do with one of the line cooks though. right after my friend and i ordered, i found out that my friend had never had greek food so i wanted to have him try a traditional gyro. my waitress had already turned in the ticket(as she should have to get food out in a timely manor and did so faster than a lot of wait staff ive seen) and had to change my tables order. i had a problem with the cook barking at my waitress for my last minute change. he said something like "figure out your orders before you turn them in." i would understand him getting mad at this if he had already called it and it was busy but i came in much later than the last rush. my guess is he might have had two to three small tickets if any at all. i also had just added on a dish which should have made it easy for him. it would have been my waitress who would have had the confusion when writing the check. i wanted to walk up to him and ask him to bring his complaint up to me because i had heard and seen him as he said it to her. over all, though, i will be recommending this place to whoever is looking for a good spot to eat. i liked everything about this spot and i will definitely be here again. this place had good food, a nice cozy feel and great service.

This place has delicious food and awesome service. The atmosphere was a little lacking and felt more like a diner than a Greek cafe, but the delicious food made up for the lack of character. Their fries are absolutely wonderful, very crispy and fresh and their sandwiches are absolutely delicious. The food is very fresh!

We ate here twice in one week while in town and it would have been more if we'd have thought about it sooner. This place was excellent, it had character, taste, and personality. I felt at home here and I think it's open 24 hours. There's no free wifi but there weren't many places in town that offered it. The omlets are not to be missed, especially the Greek omlet!

I stopped in to order takeout. As I sat at the counter in this diner-style restaurant, I noticed the smell of cigarettes. First I thought maybe it just smelled from years of allowing smoking (and not changing paint?). But it was too strong for that. When I used the restroom and passed by the lounge, I saw folks in a smoking lounge of sorts. Perhaps it's a glitch in their HVAC, but the smell is not contained to the smoking area. That would definitely keep me from returning here to eat in. I ordered two combo plates. One had moussaka, pastitsio, and spanikopita. By the time I got home, the spanikopita was no longer hot. But what was upsetting was that it had a rubbery texture, as though it had been reheated in a microwave for me. It makes sense that spanikopita would not be baked to order, but heating it in a microwave for a to-go order is just silly. I think that nuking any pastry is an abomination, so I didn't take a second bite. The Ambrosia combo included a Greek salad of sorts, a bit of pita, plus some meat. The chicken and pork was all tossed together in the same container. The tzatziki and other sauces were very good--we saved the leftovers and used them with other meals later in the week. Everything was fine (save the spinach pie), but not mind-blowing. The avgolomono soup was a standout, a lemony chicken soup that was comforting on a cold night. But at $40 for two takeout entrees, I doubt I'd return. I do like Greek food, but I couldn't help but think of what $40 in entrees could have gotten me at other area restaurants. And I don't mean quantity; we had Greek leftovers for brunch the next day. It just fell far short of my expectations and was a bit too expensive for what we got. Plus, I'd already decided that takeout was my only option after experiencing the dining room, so it's definitely out of my takeout budget.

Solid place that we enjoy. Often late at night. We generally always split a greek salad with the grilled pork on top which is always amazing. Service is always good and desserts are tasty. We generally are in the area after 9pm and they are open and friendly.

I really like this spot. The ambience is a bit IHOPy but the food is great for a decent price. The Taste of Greece appetizer is enough for a meal for two. It's awe-inspiring. I loved everything on it and there was so very much on it. We got it with souvlaki and I was ecstatic throughout it. The Greek Town Plate had a little of everything delicious for the lady, who could eat only about half of it. I got the beef tips over rice they had on special. I wasn't expecting much--what can you really expect from beef tips?--but they really did deliver some great food. This place is great, but it isn't anything special--it's just a solid, stand-up diner. It's the kind of place where you should be a regular if you live near it, but probably not a spot for special occasions.

I vote Pete' s Greek Town Cafe as the best place to sneak off early and have breakfast alone before work. I love to sit at the counter, read the paper, and the food is great for breakfast. It's also a surreal sort of place to meet a writer friend in those odd hours--sit in the big front room with the fascinating murals that you wish were somewhere in your house, just to look at when you don't want to think about anything. If you are used to NYC Greek diners you will feel right at home here.

The six-block stretch of East Colfax known informally as Greektown houses, perhaps unsurprisingly, a number of Hellenic restaurants and other amenities to help you get your Greek on. Of these, Pete's Greek Town Cafe is particularly noteworthy. Part of Mr. Contos's large food empire, PGTC takes the best elements of a specialty restaurant and a greasy-spoon diner to come up with quite an interesting eatery. On my last visit, I sampled the Greek Spaghetti. I have always loved this dish, with toothsome (what's the Greek word for "al dente" anyway?) noodles tossed with the firm, flavorful cheese called Mizithra, butter, and a little garlic. So simple, but so delicious, and PGTC does it right - by me anyway. I often find it tastes better by itself, without the sliced grilled chicken that can accompany it (for a small fee of course!) But yes, they also have Moussaka, Souvlaki, Pastitsio, Saganaki (OPAAAAA!!!), Dolmathes - is your tongue in a twist yet? - or many other native dishes for you to try. So be adventurous - you can have that burger somewhere else. To drink they have juice, tea, coffee (Greek or otherwise) and a number of other beverages. I always go for the blueberry/yogurt smoothie called the Santorini Shake, with colors evoking the Greek flag. Hey, you're still reading this? Go eat already!!!
So, my girlfriends and I are all swankily dressed up and wanted to go out to eat at a reasonable place before seeing Wicked. Well, this place may not strike you as a before-show spot but it's in my hood and its cheap so it fit the bill. Let me say, three ladies dressed to the nines stuck out like a sore thumb here! But that's ok. You don't come here for the ambiance, that is for sure. It's a great place with decent food and no waits! I decided on the egg-lemon soup and chicken kabob sandwich. The soup is just what you need for a cold winters night to warm you up!! I loved the sandwich, with the very flavorful chicken on a warm pita. May I also suggest the hummus for an appetizer too!! However-I had leftovers, and I decided to leave those leftovers in my car while we were at the show. So when I came back at the end of the night, my car reeked of Greek food. It even reeked this morning still. So be warned...this stuff is potent. And I'm sure my roommates hate me for stinking up the fridge too.

Not an awesome experience. Upon arrival the staff was kind of a mess and kind of acted like they had never served humans before. I made a take-out order with the owner/manager (well, the guy in the button-up). When my order was ready, he and the waitress had a little quarrel about how to hand a receipt to a customer? Awkward for all involved. I ordered the Gyro platter. When I asked the guy if I could have something other than potatoes, he said no. Annoying. The meat seemed reheated, the vegetables were not fresh and over steamed. They didn't give me any pita bread (they saved me from myself, but I really was looking forward to it. So I was disappointed when it was missing form my order). I won't be going back.

I have breakfast here 3 times now. Each time my service was prompt, courteous and clean. My food has been prepared exactly how I wanted, too. I truelly have no complaints. Last time, my friend noticed that the ceiling tiles looked like they were gonna fall on our heads but we were informed that renonvations are about to commence soon. The staff has always been nice and professional. Yay! What a novel idea...who'd a thunk?

Ate lunch here on the patio. Was a small patio but tidy and had flowers. Had the hummus, gyros, and baklava. Excellent pita with the hummus. Good gyro. Most excellent baklava - the best I've had in a very long time : large serving, very light colored honey with a corresponding very light taste. SO good! Moderately to moderate/high priced. Was about $35 for two for lunch, with sodas. Good service even though we were on the patio.

Yeah, I wouldn't bother. I had dinner and breakfast here because it was convienent to my hotel. Dinner was pretty bad, dried out Gyros and breakfast would have been better at Denny's. The decor and staff all made it seem a bit depressing. Will not go back.

Great place, great food, no waiting, no hunting for parking and close to City Park. So, we were headed to Tour de Fat this year and I was looking for a spot for us to meet up for breakfast before heading over to the park. Thanks to Yelp, we discovered this great Greek restaurant, only 2 blocks from the park. It even had it's own parking lot (yay! no hunting for parking). I expected the place to be packed, since it was so close to where the ride was to start, but no, no waiting for our table for 8! Saturday, at a brunch place, and no waiting? That's pretty freakin fantastic! The food was quite good, not knock your socks off fantastic, but fast, good and filling (and not to mention inexpensive). I had the Greek skillet, which consisted of potatoes (really fantastic potatoes, not that Denny's crap), olives, eggs, peperonchinis, greek yogurt and falafel. Yum!!! I will most definitely be back for this dish. Good things were heard around the table about the french toast (I think my friend licked the plate clean), the mexican skillet and the breakfast burrito. The service was good as well. Our server gave our buddy Dan a hard time, brought me a big pitcher of iced tea (I was downing them after riding 7+ miles to get there) and was just pleasant and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place and would happily accept an invite to join you for breakfast here :)

I can't help but come here for the gyros, ambrosia plate, steak sandwiches, tzatziki sauce, warm pitas, waffle fries, Greek inspired entrees, best ever carrot cake and sweet waitresses. A large cafe in the heart of Colfax Ave. Honestly, all their food is savory and filling! Their greek entrees are good for two. Choose to be seated cafe style or banquet room. They even have a small bar and lounge in the back. Its fun when you hear a loud Greek Family dine in having a great time and you hear them yell out "OOPAH!!!" Too bad I didn't get to see them break plates ;D

I would actually give this place 3 and 1/2 stars. I agree with people on pricing, it does seem high for portion size but I had the gyro with potato salad and I was very happy with my meal. With the gyro and soda it was 10.90, the gyro was smaller than I'm use to but I was okay with that, I still had a little to take home. Overall, I can understand people's aversion but I wasn't expecting a fine dining experience, I was expecting a Greek diner and that's what I got and I was pleased. Shish kabob still has the best gyro in town though.

I realize that Pete's is a Denver staple and there are people that love it and I feel a little bad that I don't have anything positive to say about it. I'm not sure if we hit Pete's on a bad night or what. Years ago, I was at Pete's for brunch and maybe I liked it, but I can't review it because it's been so long ago. However, my boyfriend had the suggestion that we go there for a quick bite of dinner. I wasn't thrilled about the idea, but I said, "OK, that sounds fine." WRONG! We sat on the enclosed patio and had to wait a good 5 minutes before we were greeted, which was a bit strange, small place, not busy. Anyway, I chose the French Dip and my boyfriend ordered the pita with the lamb in it. (Forgot the name of the dish). Anyway, my dish was just terrible. It was bland and the bread was mushy and it tasted like it had been in saran wrapped for a day. I couldn't even tolerate it, I was disappointed. Our waitress was nice enough, but just had no flair for going the extra mile. She took a while to refill our beverages and my boyfriend asked for extra sauce, and she took a while getting that too. In fact, I wondered if she went to Greece to get the stuff. Overall, I was thoroughly unimpressed and won't be going back to Pete's. I was expecting alot more from a much loved Denver staple. Bummer.

Atmosphere a bit outdated, but I didn't mind. Service was good. Food was average at best. I ordered veggie moussaka and my husband got the gyro plate. Eaten at many Greek restaurants and in Greece, but didn't find the food to be very tasty here.

4-stars for breakfast, but I can't give you much to go on for *lunch/dinner, but the menu selections look like traditional greek plates along with burgers and sandwiches. Good selection of vegetarian options for all meals (Some Vegan options, but you need to be creative as usual). I've been coming here for breakfast (once for lunch) for a while and haven't been disabpointed so far. It has a dinner feel to it. The portions are big so I usually need a to-go-box. The restaurant is pretty big and usually not packed during the week or weekend. The service sometimes can be slow to fill coffee sometimes, but I'm sure if you got their attention they'd take care of you right away. Otherwise, the food always seems to come out pretty fast after ordering. One of the choices for toast is pitas (comes with the gyros sauce) which is kinda nice. Pay the bill left on your table at the front register. There is outdoor seating during the warmer times or you can sit inside at the large counter, regular table/chair, or booth (they always let me sit in one all by myself). *So breakfast is really good, but like other reviewers I have to point out that my lunch/dinner plate definately had frozen veggies for a side. Gross, we all know the taste. However the standard house salad that came with my meal was fresh, very decked out in greek flare and delicious. Finally, they have a full bar along with some beer/wine selections available all the time. Though I don't really see to many people drinking much there on the mornings when I've been.

Um...i know diners and this place is far from it other than the fact that it's family owned. I only tried the gyro, potato salad and waffle fries but that's probably the most ordered and basic dish at a Greek diner and they failed miserably.

This place is ok. I love the breakfast burrito supreme-the bomb. Everything else....ehh not great to be honest. Not sure why Pete's Kitchen got higher scores as it's basically the same place/same owner w/out hipster points. The breakfast burrito supreme here is bigger and better than at Pete's Kitchen.

Delicious Greek fare cooked by friendly Mexicans and served by beautiful Russians; Pete's Greek Town Cafe is a multi-cultural experience. They've also got a bar, if your dining experience needs a little extra "oompa!" The bathrooms are pretty dirty, but it is a Colfax based establishment, so that sort of thing is to be expected. But, the food is good, the waitstaff is good looking, and so you forgive things like a messy john.

Bad food and atmosphere. Both my wife and I ordered food here and felt sick after eating it. there is not much atmosphere at the restaurant and the server didn't seem like she cared much for being there either. There were no fresh ingredients on either dish (veggie musaka and veggie pasta with alfredo sauce). All vegetables were frozen, sauce was from a jar. I would not recommend.

What You must Know About Pete's Greek Town Cafe: 1. Greek food is of the quality you would get in Greece. 2. Everything screams typical about this place. 3. Atmosphere is typical diner old person vibe. 4. Service is average. We had to wave the waitress down a couple times. 5. Prices are average. You definately don't feel like your getting a deal. 6. Food is average/good. 7. Had a parking lot and full bar. 8. Average price is $8-$15. 9. Good Greek food. There are other options with more personality in menu and environment that I can't recommend this place.

Today I have been craving a gyro and sadly I did not get one. :( However it did remind me of one of my favorite gyro places in Denver and Pete's Greek Town Cafe comes up as one of my favorite all time places to go to get a gyro. Every time I come here I almost always get a gyro because they are just too good to pass up! Pete's has lots of restaurants around town but this one is a little bit more fancier and a place where you can really get into relaxing as opposed to some cafes where everyone seems to be running at a frenetic pace in front of you so they can keep taking customers in and sending them on their way. I don't get that impression here at all and that is fine by me!

I wanted meat and I wanted it right away. Where can you get a pile of meat on a pita- a Greek restaurant. I met a friend here last night and we both enjoyed their Gyro with french fries. And somehow we found room for the Baklava and it was so good. I could eat that with a pot of coffee any time. I didn't have coffee last night because it was so nice and warm out, but another time. This was actually one of the first places I ate when I came out to CO 11 years ago to check out CSU and see what Denver was like. It's close to down town and now it's much more developed with all the shops that have opened.

So I was in the mood for hummus and avocados. No, I have no idea what was wrong with me and no, I'm not pregnant. My boyfriend found a place where I can get both... The food was really, really good. I kept commenting on how I loved the texture of the hummus we ordered. I got a California burger (avocados, please!) and he got a burger as well (I can't remember which) and we both were in love. The quality of the meat is really good and all of the ingredients were fresh and tasted wonderful. And yes, as others have mentioned, the waitresses are very pretty. If anything, let that make you MORE inclined to visit this establishment! We can't wait to go back!

Great comfort food!! My boyfriend and I are making a point of hitting all the Pete's restaurants in town. And as we go through this process, we keep finding ourselves pleased. I had the pleasure of working in Greektown in Chicago for four years and found myself spoiled by the Greek fare when I moved to Denver. After 4 years, I've finally had a meal that reminded me of the food of the windy city. We started with the hummus plate. The hummus was very creamy and mild in flavor, but still quite good. I really liked the pita they use as well. I ordered the Greek Pasta with chicken. Not exactly typical for Greek food, but still satisfying. It was full of broccoli, cauliflower and carrots in addition to the delicious grilled chicken. The dinner came with a salad that was tasty and I ordered a cup of the lemon chicken & rice soup. My boyfriend ordered a chicken sandwich with what may be the best potato waffle fries we've had in town. Seasoned and cooked perfect. The atmosphere feels a little like a diner pretending to be "nice." The service was very kind, maybe a tad meek even. Overall - we were happy to stop in on a Sunday afternoon for great comfort food.

We sat at the counter as it was really crowded and busy. I thought we would get better service. Our waitress was doing her best - she was friendly and tried to be attentive with such a crazy rush. My greek skillet was disappointing once again. The last time I ordered it, it was extra greasy. This time, it was all potatoes, and almost NO gyro meat. I asked about it and our waitress offered a side of gyro. After I ordered my side, another waitress told her that she needed to wrap silverware in napkins, and our waitress explained that she was too busy to do so (serving customers!). The b*tchy waitress continued to complain to her, and then about her for basically the rest of our meal. So bad that I was a heartbeat away from bitching her out. I know sitting at the counter means you get a little more insight into what happens behind the scenes, and that is fine. This in fighting that the b*tchy waitress started was way out of line. And what was she thinking anyway...trying to take our very busy waitress away to do busy work??? This review is based on many visits and similar experiences.

I've been to this restaurant 3 times, twice for dinner, once for breakfast. Would come here often if I was a local. Can't go wrong with their Grecian Combo platter: 4 types of meat, and enough to feed three hungry people for $20. Try getting this price at Whole Foods! I would give it five stars if it wasn't 2,000 miles away. The cafe has no hint that it is a Greek place inside--looks like a typical diner. There is a parking lot in the back.

Pete seriously knows his stuff. I took one star off because it is kinda pricey, but the waitresses have always had a smile, been attentive to our table, and has never let us wait for water, condiments, or extra tzatziki. The layout of the restaurant goes like this: when you walk in, to your left is a hallway leading to the bathrooms and the lounge. Directly in front of you is the counter with bar stools, which stretches almost the length of the restaurant. It faces the kitchen where you could watch the cooks above the kitchen window. To the right of the restaurant are plenty of tables. They definitely would be equipped to seat large parties, especially with the extra room on the side. The management always strikes up witty conversation before assisting the waitresses in serving us, and when Pete is in he gives us a complimentary and celebratory shot of ouzo. It seriously burns going down the hatch but I'll take it, thanks Pete. You're a gentleman. I hear you give other girls roses though. Caught! The last time I was there, I was wondering about the baklava when management brought a plate of it to me and said I could try it on the house. Completely sweet and amazing. My mouth's watering for your hummus (especially when the pita bread is a bit crispy on the edges) and the flavor-packed vegetarian gyros just writing this review. The food is seriously good. My best friend is a huge fan of the dolmades. Did I mention everytime we get the saganaki flaming cheese as an appetizer, the kitchen crew and waitresses all yell "Opa!" Everytime they do that it reminds me of Wedding Crashers. I just wanna stuff my face with baklava, make out with the bride, and get carried out of the restaurant.

Pete Contos owns six restaurants in Denver and four of them are along Colfax. Three of them, Pete's Kitchen, Pete's Gyros Place, and Pete's Greek Town Cafe serve more or less the same food and are all excellent. This review is about a breakfast omelet at all three places. Over the years I've had breakfast at one or the other maybe a thousand times. I've come to like a variation of the 'Greek Omelet' and therein lies a tale. In the past couple of years I've come to order, when I want an omelet, one with Greek olives, Peperoncini (Greek peppers), and Feta cheese (pita bread please). The basic Greek omelet also includes sweet green pepper and onion. This past year I've come to find out that for some reason the cooks at Pete's Kitchen won't modify the Greek omelet, the cooks at Pete's Gyros Place always screw it up, but Pete's Greek Town Cafe gets it right every time! That and the cooks at Pete's Greek Town Cafe seem to take more time with the hash browns and they are just like I want them. You can eat at any of Pete's restaurants and you'll get a great meal at a great price, but if you want my version of a Greek Omelet, go to Pete's Greek Town Cafe.

Greek food is one of those things that I've never really understood--I mean, what exactly is Greek food? It's got olives in it. Olives and, um, feta. Yeah, feta. Maybe add some flatbread (called "pita," apparently). And tzatziki. Or tzadziki. Or tsatsiki. It's quite delicious though. And at Pete's, it's pretty good but more expensive that I'd think for those types of simple ingredients. I got the gyros plate; pita was soft and delicious, tzatziki was creamy and good and the meat was very tender and flavorful. Cousin Sheila in from DC got the steak salad which was literally a big fat steak on top of a salad with excellent dressing, SV got the vegetable moussaka which was essentially Greek lasagna layered with eggplant, mushrooms, cheese, potatoes and more cheese. All of it was good and there was so much we did have leftovers for lunch. So to summarize: - Greek food does indeed have olives and feta (all of our dishes did) - Tzatziki can be spelled however you want, I spell it T-A-S-T-Y. - Pita bread dances on the palate - Pete's is a little pricey

Hit the Lounge!!!! I have eaten at the Greek Town Cafe many times and have always been satisfied with my food (sometimes the wait staff are very nonplussed), but last Friday, we decided to try the lounge. The lounge is totally cool, not crowded, pours big stiff drinks and I was able to change the channel on the big flat screen to watch soccer. The place has a great vibe. So the next time you are looking for a pre-night warm up, a dive bar, a lounge, an after-concert spot, or just a place to hang out and down some -- get into the lounge at the Greek Cafe. Forget the P&S ($$ to the same folks anyway), Atomic Cowboy (they really want to be cool there, but come on . . .), Sengers (uh huh), and get in here!!

Pete's Greek Town Cafe is like comfort food for me. Quite a few of my 'best. night. ever.' memories end at this place. I don't think I've ever ordered anything besides the gyros sandwich with two extra sides of tzatziki, though, because I just can't pass it up whenever I'm in the neighborhood. Their tzatziki is killer awesome and even though I've already had some today my mouth is watering just thinking about it! Whenever I want to introduce someone to Greek food, this is where I take them. It's decently priced and a great place to hang out.
Molly was awesome!! Our euros were at petes standard goodness its a little amazing bar/restaurant off the beaten track. Sit in the bar area and Molly will make your time amazing!!!,

Honestly I just go there to ooogle over the Ukrainian waitresses lol. HOT for real. The food is good to but the James Bond feel you get from watching those hot chicks is pricesless. And they are so nice too. There is no casual conversation really because they are so focused on just working which is ok. I just love love love them....

I went to Pete's yesterday with my family for a post-holiday meal. We went in around 3 p.m. and were some of the only people in the place - but to be fair it was the day after Christmas and we were there at a very odd time. Everyone enjoyed their food - I had a Greek Salad (per the ushe...) but this time with Souvlaki. My husband had the Souvlaki plate, my mom a Greek Salad with chicken, my sister the veggie Mousaka and my dad had a Gyro sandwich. All meals delicious and the wait staff was awesome. Just two girls were covering the tables and they worked so seamlessly together it felt like we had double the attention. I love Pete's and I'm so glad that it's close to where we live! I will visit Pete's often. Enjoy!

The food was fine. But this is supposed to be a Greek restaurant, right? It's got gyros. And I think spanakopita. Maybe dolmades...? But can a brother get some oktopodi?!? Or some good fish? Once again, I got spoiled by living in Baltimore (WTF... did I really just type that?!?!?). Baltimore has a tiny little Greektown, but the restaurants there are top notch. I just haven't found anything to compare here in Denver so far. This place is fine... it's just... .... .... it's fine. And that's really all I can say about it. Disappointing for someone who was looking for more, but maybe Denver doesn't have a large enough ethnic population to justify a more 'authentic' restaurant. Where's the alabaster Zeus statue?!?! :)

Dang, Pete...You bummed me out again! I thought we were back to cool, but nope, and this time I'm done for a while. It was anticipated that you would be busy in all your restaurants, being new year's day, but Greektown is the biggest and there is always room somewhere to sit. Even with sitting at the counter it took 15 minutes to get our orders taken. I could see Danny SLAMMED in the kitchen, harder than I've seen him working in some time. Our server is such a sweet lady, and trying so hard to get it all handled. But what is up with Donya? I have seldom met such an unpleasant person! Our waitress had 8 tables, was in the weeds, had to solve a complaint, and still was smiling. Donya and another waitress were apparently so caught up that they had time to roll silverware. ( I don't understand how this could be with every seat in the house filled!!) She attempts to force my server to stop serving me and start helping them! Really? Are you SERIOUS? This lady was running her *ss off and all you got is "you have to roll silver?" How bout if you have soo much dang time on your hands, you could do it? Another thing, there was food in the window, how bout running some of it?? Mine sat there for 4 or 5 minutes 3 feet from me. I almost just grabbed it myself! I thought the point was to serve the guests not bitchy infighting in front of them!! The incompetent management observes all of this, and yet does nothing about it...Why is that? So, Pete, here we are. I'll still go to Central 1, but other than that, I'm done. So very done.

Love this place... sort of reminds me of an east coast diner with a little more of an emphasis on the Greek stuff. Mostly everything I've had here has been great. Tzaziki is a delicious but a garlic bomb. greek style roasted potatoes are a must! Last time I came I tried the roast leg of lamb which was flavorful but just a tad bit dry.

If you're looking for upscale Greek cuisine, Pete's is not the place. However, if you're looking for something different, at a decent price, Pete's is worth a visit. If you walk out of there hungry, it's your own fault. i recommend the Saganaki to start. Yum! I had the Pastisio, the person I was with had the Leg of Lamb. We both really enjoyed what we had, and were cherry-picking off each other's plates. The portions are very generous. We both ended up with "to-go" boxes, and also ordered dessert to-go. The portion size of the to-go Rice Pudding was a little on the small side, but the Baklava was generous. Both were very good. Would definitely go back, and would definitely recommend. The decor leaves a little to be desired. It looks a bit like a renovated diner that's seen some almost pre-fab expansion. However, don't let that, nor the handwritten signs attempting to shoo local high school students away, dissuade you.

Can't add much to what other reviewers who gave this place three or more stars have already said. This was my first visit, and I chose it for breakfast based on Yelp reviews. I had the chicken fried steak country skillet. It was delicious, but I couldn't finish it. It's way big enough to share. My waitress was an absolute sweetheart. Gonna try it for dinner some time soon.

Pete's has great diner food at reasonable prices. I usually come here for brunch or lunch and I admit that my expectations aren't all that high. I want a delicious gyro sandwich with fries (or maybe the plate), a yummy breakfast (nothing too fancy) and I want my kids to be able to get pancakes if they want them at 2:00 pm. (I hate places that shut down their grill at 11:00 on a Sunday!). Frankly, I think it's great that one kid can get pancakes and eggs and the other can get chicken fingers and french fries - I have a chance to eat my gyro sandwich in peace and that's about all I need to be happy. We always have good service when we are here and usually leave satisfied.

I love this place. I love sitting at the diner style bar for a quick lunch, or sitting in the back lounge for a cocktail. The service is always friendly. I love their Greek lemon chicken rice soup (the name escapes me right now, starts with an A), but it reminds me of a soup my grandmother used to make. I've even bought 10 bowls at once to take to family gatherings. The place has just a nice chill atmosphere, and the price is right.

The greek salad here is the best I ever had. Full of cucumbers, peppers, a whole plank of the most delicious feta cut right off the block, olives, and dolmades! I am addicted! I usually always order it when I come but I have also had other things like the flavorful pastitsio, and I have a friend who nearly cries over the avgolemono soup. The only thing I am not all that keen on is the hummus, but that is not at all to say it is bad, it just isn't as good as my all time favorite over at Jerusalem. But I let that slide because I love everything else I have ever tried.

Very pleasant surroundings and pretty servers; decent Greek food for the price. We had no trouble with service, but other reviews indicate it can be erratic. Pete's been a steady popular fixture on E. Colfax for decades (at the Kitchen, then Safire, then various locations added all over town) so he must be doing something right.

I love going here for breakfast! As long as you are ready for some curt, diner-like atmosphere and a good bit of greasy yumminess, you're golden. Get the breakfast burrito with gyros inside and you'll never find a better example of breakfast burrito in Denver. Breakfast aside, I think some of Pete's other places are a bit better for dinner. I'd probably go to Pete's Central One if that was my objective. The atmosphere and straight-up dinner food is better.

I found the Greek Town Cafe to be very average. The hummus was bland, the gyros average and bland and the souvlaki bland. I did enjoy the greek potatoes (lemony) and the fries. The service was attentive and friendly.

O.K. I need to start by saying that my ONLY criteria for giving 5 stars is CRAVING food when I'm not there. Cherry Creek Grill's French Dip is one. The Shrimp Santorini appetizer (not the pasta entree) is another. This is like the crack of Denver cuisine. Don't die of leave Denver without eating it. Their pitas are fabulous and their gyros are absolutely top notch! Get extra tsiasiki! We always go on off afternoon/early dinner hours so we don't know the after club crowd service... but us late 30 somethings (one from Manhattan, the other from Omaha.. both big foodies) love this place.

The gyros are good - nothing exceptional. Nice size, but you pay for it. There was pretty good cole slaw and potato salad. The service was average. I'd say go ahead and try it if you're in the area and are craving a greek fix.

Greek food is a fine melody of the finest pressed olive oil, fresh fermented bread, colorful vegetables, juicy meat, sea food all cooked in spices and fresh rosemary. The people from Greek were great scholars who aimed to excel in everything they do. The results are quite visible in their food as they are the inventors of olive oil which is beneficial to health. Greeks also made different type of wines from the best quality of grapes fermented in controlled environment.
Today, you can find hundreds of restaurants offering authentic Greek food or popularly termed as Mediterranean cuisine in New York city alone. People wait in line to taste the exotic Greek dishes like saganaki, taramasalata, souvlaki, loukoumades, spanakopita, moussaka, and many more. One thing which most people like about these authentic Greek dishes is abundant use of lemon juice, olive oil, fresh rosemary and sea salt. A smart mix of few ingredients can virtually take you on the pebble streets of beautiful city of Greece.
For those who don't have time to enjoy fine dining should try tasting the famous souvlaki with pita which is type of meat dish, also a trademark Greek fast food. For those who are vegetarian, or vegan can try different versions of Greek Salad. So, if you wish to enjoy a hearty yet healthy meal that tastes divine then try dining at the best Greek restaurant in your city. Greek cuisine not only tastes good but also help maintain your body in a natural way through healthy diet.

(3)Mark G.
Gyro and waffle fries were decent but nothing really memorable. As much as I love halibut I couldn't justify paying that price for a quick lunch. Plus Denver is nowhere near the ocean. The menu was fairly large. If I ever return here I'd probably try something different.
(3)Mila G.
It looks closed from the outside, but don't keep driving! Very neat little greek place with plenty of non-greek food as well. They have a separate room that looks like they host parties in there, complete with DJ. Nice staff, many of them seem happy to work there. Will be back.
(4)Chiyoko Y.

(5)Cindy S.
(4)P. D.
The servers her are always very sweet! The food is comforting and delicious and GIGANTIC portions!
(5)Mallory O.
(1)Larry M.
(1)Natalie L.
So good! This place is totally cheesy and kind of a dive, but the food and service are great. GET THE FLAMING CHEESE APP! Delicious. All of the entrees were have had have been good, we love the Moussaka and the Greek Spaghetti. The BAKLAVA is a must! YUMMY!
(4)S K.
(3)Jason O.
(2)Megan M.
(2)Charlie K.
(4)Helene K.
(4)Caley M.
(2)Cathy L.

(2)Monica L.
The atmosphere is VERY old-school, but the food was good/very good. I had the "Pete's Greek Town Plate" with mousaka, pastitsio and spinach pie. I thought the mousaka was good and that the pastitsio and spinach pie were very good.
(4)Jeanne J.
I love it here! I have been eating here for years and every time I'm in Denver and want greek food this is where I go or their other place just a block down the street! The services is always good and the food is yummy! You get lots of food for the price. I always end up having some left over for the next day :) Thanks for the great years!
(5)Alissa R.
(3)Elizabeth R.
(5)Beau W.
It was tough trying to convince my girlfriend to go to a Greek restaurant. She is really picky. I kept bugging her and she caved. We ordered some Hummus and pita. It was really good. My girlfriend ordered a club sandwich. At a Greek place? Really? It was a basic club. Nothing to write home about. I had the mousaka. Layered eggplant, sliced potatoes and seasoned ground beef, topped with béchamel cream and kapama sauce. served with vegetables and feta cheese. It was great! It was very savory an rich. I can't wait to come back and try some other traditional Greek stuff. Btw, Don't let the word cafe fool you. They serve beer here too. Usually if it says cafe in the name, they don't have beer.
(4)David C.
(3)John M.
Been here many times. The service is always very good and the food is consistently excellent.
(5)Jason L.
Decent diner. I enjoyed a Greek salad with Gyro meat. It was a large portion, with very fresh ingredients.
(3)Elly D.
(1)Rose M.
(4)Priscila P.
It was a very nice experience. I love Greek food and it's was my first time at one of Pete's places and can't wait to go back! Great service and tasty food. I got the Greek salad topped with Gyro, amazing!
(5)Chris B.
(2)Stephanie L.

(4)Ambra G.
For real!!
(4)Sophia C.
(2)Safford B.
(2)L A.
(1)Alex W.
(4)K. R.
(4)Christopher C.
Great Greek skillet, everything else is the same as all of Pete's places, but the skillet is a must have.
(4)Dave T.
Clean and nice. Great calamari! They have different seating environments, from diner style to nice tables. Many more things on the menu I would like to go back and try.

This place is conveniently close by.They offer the best hummus and gyros! Friendly staff, quick and efficient service.

I initially thought the prices were a bit high but the food is fresh and does not disappoint. I have to go off on a bit of a tangent here- but their house salad, a simple little salad, was AMAZING. It truly was the highlight of my meal. I wish I had ordered ten. It consisted of fresh lettuce, feta, a couple kalamata olives, beet!, cucumber, tomato, garbanzo beans, onion, and some zesty homemade vinaigrette. I liked the simple, delicious dressing so much, I actually hid my plate away on the other side of the table because I didn't want the waitress to take it away. I actually wanted to LICK the plate. I would have, be sure, had I been at home. My daughter, prior to this visit, has not liked salad OR olives, and after eating both of ours, she now loves both. NICE! I had only had lemon soup, Avgolemono, (it's one of their standard soups of the day) once before in Athens, Greece at Easter, and I remember thinking it was amazing. This soup was good. I thought in Greece it was actually tripe, not rice, but, whatever the case, I enjoyed this very lemony soup. I really did. So did my two year old. Not the same as the Plaka at Easter, but delectable either way. Our waitress seemed to be having a bad day but gave us top notch service nonetheless. She was on her game and we lacked for nothing. My friend had the gyros and it was superb. It was served with fresh lightly sautéed onions (just perfect), pita, fresh vegetables, and absolutely to-die-for roasted potatoes. Are you kidding me? Those potatoes were pure potato perfection. It pained my friend to even let me try them. They really were that good. My daughter had the very fairly priced grilled cheese with fresh vegetables ($3.25) - you need to ask for non-french fry options, and was also given crayons and stuff to color. Overall, I was very impressed and delighted with my experience, Just a really good place to eat with fresh, delicious Greek food.

Huge and amazing Greek salads!

(4)Erika L.
(4)Gary A.

Im usually with the church group on Sunday Nights and we get treated better than we deserve. Always impressed with the positive attitude. And great salads and sandwichs, too.

(4)Jennifer Y.
Please add felafels to the menu. Other than that YUM! :)
(4)Faith M.

(3)Ian M.
(4)Anhers M.
Um...i know diners and this place is far from it other than the fact that it's family owned. I only tried the gyro, potato salad and waffle fries but that's probably the most ordered and basic dish at a Greek diner and they failed miserably.
(1)Ryan Q.
(3)Michael S.
(3)C R.
(1)Mark S.
(3)Alden C.
(4)Meredith G.
(3)Alyson A.
(4)Rachel F.
(4)Suzy S.

Great food and service. Especially their chicken/lentil soup with lemon. Been there twice and still same quality of food, definitely recomennded.

GREEK SALAD!!!!! GET IT!!!! i love it and frankly ... this is one of the biggest and loaded I have seen ..... its not cheap but i like it and I like the dressing and I love the block o feta you get on top!!!! Get it with GYRO and I personally get dressing on side.... take half home and am a happy woman! Comes with a pita...taz sauce(I get an extra side) and dolmades.... and veggies and peppers!! never packed get a booth and check out the old school register!! its kinda cool... I gotta grab a pic next time... yum yum yum.....

Great place to go even on a weekend! Plenty of seating and convenient to Bluebird. Went to a show Saturday night and Pete's was close by and open. Food was delicious ..lemon soup was yummy, as was the hummus.

(4)Frenchie C.
(4)Thomas S.
Pete's Greek Café is epically bad. Service is bad. Our waitress spent the evening huffing and giving us the stank eye for asking for a menu. The food is mediocre at best. My dinner came with a veggie medley that seemed like it was made from one of those grocery store pre-cut steaming bags. Flavorless and rubbery is the best way to describe it. The gyros were okay, but a bit too dried out. The price is ridiculous for this quality of food.

Enjoy!

Love going to this place later at night. Great mix of people, interesting wait staff and the Denver police eat here, c'mon. Veggie sandwhich and the greek potatoes? Good stuff.

Cajin pasta was the shit... Best I've tasted~ Big portion that will leave you super satisfied... If you're not, there's something wrong with you... But I love this place~ The food here is excellent...

Excellent food! Especially love the lemon chicken soup!

The food and service were great. It wasn't too exensive and it was clean enough. Their Pita was delicious.

i love Pete's Greek Town Cafe -- the food is great. Service can be a little slow. Good that they have a parking lot -- a lot of places in this part of town don't. Nice patio, and a heated enclosed one for colder weather.

Consistent food quality and super large portions. The interior decor could use some work but I have yet to have poor service or food.

I had a wonderful experience. Great food and great service. I had the fettuccine shrimp and it was great.

Interior looks and feels like a Denny's but the food was alright. Not the best greek I've had, but better than decent. Wish it didn't smell so stale and feel so empty.
