Odyssey is about so much more than the food-which is fantastic. The ambiance is great. The hospitality is as vibrant and authentic as the Sicilian flavors.

WOW!!! I grew up in the Denver Metro area and hands down this is the best Italian restaurant I have ever been to. From the minute we arrived I felt like family, as if I was walking into my grandmothers kitchen. The service is the absolute best in town and the food to die for. A+ to Ignasio for the Bananas Foster that was cooked right at our table. A special thanks to Jena, our server, that is a true professional and made our experience the best I have ever had. Not to mention she is absolutely beautiful. And the rest of the Odyssey staff. The food is AMAZING, the service is incredible and we are already planning our next visit with a group of friends!!

We came here last week when I was scrolling through 1,000 point tables on OpenTable and seen all the great reviews I figured we would give it a try. The server Mike was great , personable and got us everything we needed. The chef (I think also Mike) was very funny, made good conversation and even made my fiance a sample dish of a dish that's hard to find in Colorado Italian restaurants . (And he nailed it!) Chicken Scarpellio . Wonderful atmosphere and amazing food. We'll definitely be back. Thanks guys!!

I'm not why this place is receiving these positive reviews - perhaps they are enamored by mediocre charm and/or the live violin? We really wanted to enjoy the food as we made our decision based on Yelp. What a disappointment. The food reminds me of a subpar "italiano" restaurant you might find in the Midwest or perhaps one of those places in Little Italy that has a guy out front promoting the accent and offering 2-for-1. The bread is of the fluffy white sort with a balsamic dip; not bad, but definitely not italian. We ordered house salads, with their famous house dressing; it was ok. For entrees, we ordered the Fettuccini Carbonara and Fettuccini Bolognese. The Carbonara was essentially an alfredo sauce with moist pruscuitto, some peas and maybe some leeks - no egg, no pancetta and no apparent black pepper. Since I was looking forward to the signature carbonara silkiness with aforementioned egg yolk, I asked the server why it was missing and she responded that "sicilian carbonara" is different and doesn't include egg. So naturally I Googled it and found this not to be true; at least with most of the recipes in the resulting search. As for the Bolognese, it was simply bland -- I will go out on a short limb and say they used some basic ground beef, rudimentary bolognese ingredients and some cinnamon. More importantly, I definitely did not taste the rich depth of bolognese flavor that typically emerges via wine as a crucial ingredient in the reduced sauce, so not sure it was added in any significant way. Also, the actual pasta itself in both dishes is slightly overcooked, clumpy and doesn't justify the premium prices that one might expect from homemade or in-house made pasta (theirs is not). In the end, this place feels a little like a sham.

I think this is hands down one of Denver's best restaurants. Everytime we have company in town we bring them here now. Even my friends who are food snobs are constantly impressed with this place. The atmosphere is fantastic, it is very cozy and intimate inside, and there is a very nice patio outside. The service is fantastic, I always feel like I am part of the family here. The servers also cook up some basic appetizer dishes in the seating area and bring them around as free samples for the tables. I think the food is fantastic and I have loved every dish I've had. It is also very reasonably priced for what you get. I don't understand the couple of one star reviews I see here, every who I have taken there loves it.

We came here on Friday evening and were seated right away. It was a true dining experience. The owner and his son are very passionate about the food and provided very good customer service. We ordered Osso Bucco, Pasta with tomato and basil, and dessert (Cannoli). Osso Bucco was perfect. It was not too salty like most places we have eaten in before. The pasta was good as well, simple dish but just how I wanted it to be. We will definitely be back to try other dishes.

Open late on Christmas Eve, this was quite a gem to find when you're wanting to dine out so close to a major US holiday. David was our server, and he was amazing and wonderful. A nice warm fire was burning in the section where me and my partner dined. Intimate setting (might want to use the torch app on your phone to see the menu clearly). The bread was fabulous, and melted in the mouth. Antipasto plate had mozzarella balls, delicious pitted olives, red bell peppers, banana peppers, bologna and salami. I'm not a fan of pork products, normally, but this stuff was really good. I had the shrimp fra diavolo, and my partner had the red snapper Florentine. the shrimp were large, about as fresh as one can get in Denver, and the red sauce (I normally can't stand tomato-based sauces) was heavenly with chunks of garlic, fresh roma tomatoes, and jalapenos for spice. The red snapper was buttery and melted in your mouth. The staff was very attentive and professional. Also they seemed very welcoming to working so late on Christmas Eve. Best Italian food I've had in Denver thus far. It's right across from Angelos' on E. 6th Ave.

Absolutely loved this place. The atmosphere was amazing and the dining staff were super friendly. They made it feel more like an experience instead of it being just a place you go to get food. The food itself was delicious. Would recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a romantic date with their partner or just wants to have a more sophisticated girls night out

I must say coming from NYC I have been to many fantastic Italian restaurants, but Odyssey truly embodies the sicilian hometown feel and has an amazing atmosphere. The staff is absolutely some of the best I've ever seen, as owners Michele and Ignazio do everything within their power to make your meal and experience of the highest quality. They truly care for their staff and customers and treat everyone who walks through the door like family. Above and beyond the amazing atmosphere and stellar service, the food is to die for. Great wine specials, pasta dishes, and classic sicilian dishes, each one made with love and care. I do not typically write yelp reviews, but this place truly deserved to be ranked as one of, if not the outright, best italian restaurant in Denver. Grazie, Odyssey, job well done!

found this on yelp while visiting Denver. It was fabulous, the chef/owner greeted us and gave us a brief history. the place is a converted house and cozy. food excellent service excellent, all excellent. I would consider moving to Denver to eat here often. .We ate an early dinner so the place was not busy yet and it was pretty private/quiet...just what we were looking for.

A wonderfully quaint neighborhood spot to get solid and reasonably priced Italian food. When making the reservation, I told them it was a special occasion, and they gave us the coziest spot in the house. When we arrived, there were rose petals on our table and everyone who greeted us knew it was a special day. That warmth made the evening for us! Yes, the lights flicker and the food is good, yet not out of this world. But the welcoming atmosphere and sincerity of the staff are the key attractions here.

I couldn't explain to you how excited I am to go to dinner here each time that I do. A friend of mine lives just up the street, and so we frequent this restaurant, and it is hands down the best Italian restaurant I have ever been to. The manager is the sweetest guy ever and the whole team provides the best service that I have ever experienced, not just in the food industry, but in any service industry. The food is incredible and they have a nice wine selection. If you go here, take the time to get to know the staff. They're what make this restaurant not just great, but over the top spectacular.

This is a great little neighborhood restaurant. Right away we were greeted by friendly staff and felt very well taken care of. I had the fettuccine alfredo with chicken and mushrooms, it was delicious. My boyfriend had the fettuccine carbonara which was very good as well. We also ordered dessert which was prepared table side and was very good. The chef was hilarious and kept us very entertained. I highly recommend this place to anyone!

They're trying, but not hard enough. Pasta was super bland, sauce a mix of canned and fresh tomato with no depth of flavor. Not worth $16! The dining room reeked of fryer oil since they deep fry most of their apps for some reason. Service is friendly. Not recommended.

I moved from the NJ to denver about 10 months ago, and had been having a hard time finding good food in the denver area. Odyssey is the best restaurant I have been to yet, and by far the best italian food. It is also one of the best dining experiences I have ever had, in general. first of all, the aesthetics are stunning. The building has a lot of history, and use to be a house, renovated into a restaurant. It's just stunning with a fireplace, beautiful paintings, little lights, lovely curtains, roses, etc. The next thing we quickly noticed was the fantastic service. The owner and his father are Italians from NYC and all their recipes are old, family recipes..delicious! They talked with us throughout the night, made jokes, and they brought out a complimentary mini-appetizer, as well as DELICIOUS true italian bread, hot out of the oven. They also brought out a second loaf of bread, at my boyfriend's request, and didn't charge. They made penne alla vodka for us, even though it wasn't on the menu, and they brought out a complimentary dessert. The owner (who was also the waiter..and clearly lives for this place!) recommended a fantastic Riesling for us, which we loved. Also, it was pasta monday so every pasta dish was only 8.95!!!! it was a fantastic price. It really doesnt get better than this place..please visit this gem!!! theres also outdoor seating. enjoy!

This is the best Italian place in town, period. I have been there three times now and not only does the owner make a pointed effort to visit my table every time, but I have yet to go there without being offered something (wine, oysters) compliments of the house. The food is fantastic, the atmosphere is delightful, and the price is about 25% less than it should be. I literally cannot imagine a better dining experience. If you're looking for a romantic night out with a significant other, you will hit a home run here.

Just had a wonderful time at Odyssey tonight. Wondered in by chance and am thankful to have found this little place. The service was impeccable, the Owner, Mike, couldn't have been more gracious. The attention to detail was noticeable and appreciated by all there. I will be back many times and in fact made a reservation for a future evening. I encourage everyone to give it a visit. You will not be disappointed. Just as long as I can still get in!

I REALLY wanted to love this place. A colleague of mine recommended this place and she even wrote a raving rewiew on yelp. However, based on my experience I cannot give The Odyssey a good review. Let me first say that I had no issues with the food. The menu was extensive and the food was very tasty. Also, our waitress was very professional and attentive. However, I made a reservation for my family (5 people) for 8:45, we arrived at 8:40 and were told that our table was not ready. The bartender came out and was very pleasant and asked us if he could get us cocktails while we waited. This was great and much appreciated. After we finished the first round the table still wasn't ready, they offered us another round. We accepted and continued to wait. The waitress brought us a cheese plate, which again was very nice. Also, the owner or owner's son (not sure which) came to chat with us while we waited and told us that he would bring over a "special plate" of goodies once we sat down to make up for our troubles. We did not sit down until 10pm! Here's the kicker...when we sat down the bartender came over and asked us how we wanted to settle up our tab! We had to pay for both rounds of drinks that we consumed while waiting for our table for over an hour! Geez! Also, the "special plate" we were promised while waiting never arrived, nor was it mentioned again. Although the food was good, the bad taste the whole experience left is not enough to earn my business again. Before I wrote this review I called the restaurant to try and let them know what had happened and give them the opportunity to make it right. I left a voicemail with my name and number and never received a call back. So after much consideration I felt I had to write this review to let others know. My advice is to make a reservation but only for small parties (2 max) and it will probably be an okay evening. If you are a large party make sure you have the first reservation of the evening.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
