Good Margs but food is overpriced and comes in small portions. After a $37 bill I should not leave hungry. The shrimp tacos are a joke. One little shrimp on a tortilla chip is what $10.95 gets you. I won't waste my money again.

Good happy hour menu and drink specials, although the tacos are a little sad and the salsa is too ketsup-y. The place has a good vibe and trivia nights.

You know I have my priorities straight when I review a restaurant and start out talking about how I love their unsweetened skinny margaritas (agave on the side). Umm, umm, hangover good. And they fulfil 4 out of your 5 daily food group requirements (alcohol, fruit, sugar, and salt (missing only being "deep-fried" to make them an entire food group pyramid of fun). Bottom line: Marg's has one of the best margs in town. I frequently get their 2-3 taco combo meal but this time switched to the shrimp-stuffed chipotle and their jalapeno poppers. Probably won't do that again. This is a street taco joint and that's what they do best. As mama would say: Always go with your strength. This experience was a 3.6 and 'cause I'm a little tipsy I'm rounding up to 4. Pre-P.S. Other folks' reviews are right: With TVs blastin' and concrete surfaces everywhere, the patio's the place to be (unless you don't wanna talk to your date . . . then by all means stay inside and break out your device, complaining loudly about how noisy it is so that you can't talk:). Sincerely, David "Take me to the patio please" M.

This place sucks. They blasts music that makes you feel like your shopping at a forever 21 store while eating the most unauthentic mexican food ever. You pay $10 for 2 tacos that only come with a 2oz size of rice and beans. Very over priced and our server seemed overwhelmed by having 3 tables. She refilled our drinks at the end of our meal, I guess lip singing R Kelly was more a priority.

Been here twice. The margaritas are ok at best and that's being very generous. The food is dog poo or maybe horse poo... I typically don't eat dog poo, but if I were too, I would put it on a flour tortilla and call it Margs... that would fit! The service was rude when we sat at the bar, and slow and incompetent at a table. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, anytime, or anywhere.

We enjoyed! The food was fresh, beautifully plated, yummy, and the decor was a great mix modern, trendy and sweet! Groupon turned us on to Marg's. I'll be back next time I'm in Denver!

It has been awhile (ie a couple of years) since I have been to this restaurant, but it still sticks out in my memory as one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had. Things may have changed, so if you hear differently about this place, by all means give it a try. However, the experience was so negative that I have not dared go to any Marg's taco bistro since. We ordered chips and guacamole first. The guacamole was pretty good, but the chips were from the bottom of the bag and it was essentially impossible to eat it without dumping the chip crumbs into the guac and eating it with a spoon. Lame. The tacos were alright, but way too spicy, even for my boyfriend, who would eat a raw jalapeno just to freshen his breath. They didn't give us new napkins when ours were clearly used up wiping away the tears brought on by the tacos. Our waitress was really young and was having some difficulty keeping up with her tables, but she was trying hard. It was also in my opinion pricey for what you get. Again, things may have changed (I noticed a lot of restaurant responses to the Yelp reviews, which is great), but I have absolutely no intention of going back to find out when I visit Denver.

Met an old friend here yesterday and sat outside, very cute location and concept at this place. Our server was Angela and she was pretty prompt for the most part. I like that she brought us pico and tortillas to munch on while we waited for our order. I ordered the skinny marg, $9 later I didn't really feel a buzz. I also ordered a shrimp taco with 2 tiny pieces of shrimp in it, and a chicken taco that to my dismay was a dark shredded chicken rather than grilled white meat. Tacos here are not worth the price based on the meat ingredients, the compliments that come with them and flavors are good though. I think it is very ghetto how they serve their water in a sauza bottle, the cheapest, nastiest tequila, I hope that wasn't what was in my margarita. I thoroughly enjoyed catching up with my old friend and I loved that we got to sit outside and enjoy margs on a beautiful day. However once it got crowded, the table next to us was very close and got very drunk/loud. The cloud cover started to come in and Angela was no where to be found when we were ready to leave. After she dropped off the bill she took a while to come back for the payment. I think she was busy inside because she seemed to be running around quite a bit. Maybe they have something confusing going on with the sections here, as a server I once had part of my section split further away from my main one and it was very difficult to be accommodating so I understand. Overall good experience but honestly I don't think their prices make sense for what they are providing.

We were looking for a quick bite and this place hit the spot. I like the street style tacos. They were t-a-a-a-a-a-sty! We were looking for a hot comfy beverage- which the Bistro sadly doesn't supply, but happily we were invited to feel free to get our hot cocoa from across the street and bring it inside. Our server was impeccable: polite, knowledgeable, professional, and responsible. We felt taken care of. And during down-times, she was actually cleaning around the bar areas. We've seen enough reality restaurant/bar shows to know there's bad places out there where this gets neglected. This woman neglected nothing, and did everything with a great attitude. We'd love to return again and again, as well as bring visitors there to sample how cool Denver eateries are. This place is a good representative. They also have a pint-sized shuffle board table there, where the table is cleverly half-length, but the "stones" bounce easily off the opposite wall so that the end goal zones are right by where you're standing. fun, fun.

I'm going to give this place an ok review. Definitely has room to improve. First things first, this particular location is very loud inside so if possible Id recommend eating on the patio. I ordered the two taco platter which comes with rice and beans. The side of rice and beans is totally ludicrous as it's put in a tiny cup that most restaurants use to serve ketchup/condiments in. They shouldn't even bother with the sides if that's what they think constitutes an adequate serving. As for the tacos, I enjoyed the sweet salsa served with my tacos al pastor but the banh mi had way too many jalapeños in it which overpowered any other flavors present. The Paloma drink I ordered was great so kudos on that though my friends mentioned their margaritas were over salted. A little pricey for what you get is the overall conclusion here.

I love love love Marg's! I usually go to the cherry creek location, but bought a groupon for Uptown! Our waitress, Jenn, was awesome! She gave us great recommendations on what we ordered, and was so kind and attentive during our dinner. Plus she is just adorable and small. Definitely will be back! Best tacos and guac evaaaaa!

If you are looking for tacos, this is the place. Cool/casual atmosphere, and oddball sports on TV. Loved me some Cadillac margaritas and unique tacos. If you go, ask for Britney! She rocks and will take great care of you!

Please don't get the food. Okay maybe with 5 margaritas you need food. Go for the taquitos or maybe some chips. Flour tortillas don't belong with tacos, that's what I believe so I come here for the tequila. Their happy hour margs are strong and you don't need many to get a buzz. They also have many flavored ones, like coconut and strawberry, there's a skinny one and a spicy one. They are all good really, maybe too good. The waitstaff is nice and it has a chill atmosphere.

The margarita gets 5 stars for creativity and delicious. And the guacamole is hardy and full of flavor. But the Service at the bar gets 2 star. The bartender was disengaged. It was apparent that we were an inconvenience. Could not get a smile or thank you or hello from him. And we were the only two people at the bar. I like the location and the atmosphere. Did using a groupon influence our service level? I tipped him 20 percent of the amount of bill before groupon discount as i normally would, but i did so reluctantly.

We really enjoyed this place--came three times in two days. Really enjoyed the margaritas and bottomless mimosas during brunch. I had the caprese tacos and chips/guacamole and enjoyed both. The tortillas are delicious.

Organized a happy hour at Margs for the Uptown neighborhood association. The staff were great in helping us pull the event off, reserving space for us and offering extended happy hour specials. Service was fast and friendly and the drinks were great, as usual.

No secret that Denver has a plethora of upscale taco and tequila joints. Nonetheless Marg's is unique in its innovative and diverse selection of tacos and margaritas. While they do have some standard options like carnitas, steak, etc., they have a bunch of tacos that are a very tasty fusion of Mexican and other flavors, like Italian, Indian, and Asian. Absolutely not "traditional" but that can, and is, a good thing if you're looking for something different. They're equally creative with their margaritas-- For example their "Strabanero" which combines real strawberries with the kick of habaneros. Overall, a very solid, and unique option in Denver's taco scene.

Everything sounds good in writing on the menu, but most of what we got on plate was disappointing. The reason for 3 stars then? Good service and strong margaritas. We opted for the salsa sampler to start, letting our server choose his 3 top favorites (don't remember them). None of the 3 were bad per say, just each lacking a pop of flavor-save for the pineapple-and those condiment sizes? Kind of a rip off for $7. For tacos, I went for the 3 taco platter with the lamb, the chicken club, and the banh mi. The lamb came open faced on corn tortilla, the meat was cooked nicely, but the toppings needed to be stronger in flavor. The chicken club was served wrapped in a flour tortilla and was pretty bland save for the super crunchy bits of bacon-I couldn't even make out the guacamole on this one. The banh mi was also served wrapped in a flour tortilla and the most boring, and this baffled me because it was the one with the most ingredients! The platters come with rice and beans, but they shouldn't even bother, both were not worth mentioning at all. Our server was very pleasant and the food did come out fast. The house margaritas were $5 all day because we dined on a Monday. Now, those are a force to be reckoned with! I could barely finish my 2nd one, I actually had to share it with my friend-something that rarely happens to me. And it looks like a future visit to Marg's Taco Bistro will be one of those as well.

I've always wanted to visit another Marg's Taco Bistro. This uptown location has a totally different vibe than Cherry Creek. I'm afraid to say I prefer the latter's interior design. But as long as they have the same quality hand made tortilla, all is well! And they do! I also found out you could place an order of just their flour tortillas to go, in dozens, I assume.

Great service (shoutout to Jen and Britney! They are always super nice, efficient, and easy to talk to), excellent food, killer margaritas, and right across the street from our apartment. What more can you ask for?!?

Tacos were just OK and pretty over priced. Our server seemed to be the hostess, too and only checked on us a couple times. Probably not going back.

If I could give a 3.5 I would. I really like Marg's Uptowns patio in the summer. And their house Margs are delish. Their Guacamole is really good and they probably have some of the best flour tortillas I have tried. I enjoy their variety of tacos, even the out of the ordinary ones like the caperse and the marg's club. That being said, I think their prices on regular margs (7-11 dollars) are pretty steep for how much ice they use. I also think a late night happy hour might help their business, because it is a neighborhood joint and I have found it pretty dead on week night in the winter. I just wish this place could be more affordable for people who want to have more than one drink. Two margaritas at 14 dollars is steep.

It's probably not fair to review this place, considering we only consumed two things, but alas! We wanted the delicious churros at D Bar, but when we saw how many people were waiting to be seated, we decided against D Bar and walked across the street to this place (whose sign outside says "Margs Uptown"). We were seated at a table and realized immediately that it's more of a bar than a restaurant. Neither of us could hear a single thing the other person was saying the entire time -- loud music and lots of drunk yuppies! I ordered a Margs Mojito which was okay -- nothing special. It was very minty, with plenty of booze on the top. We also ordered the churros and an ice cream dessert. They were out of the ice cream dessert. The churros were certainly not the fresh ones made across the street at D Bar; they likely came from a frozen pack at the grocery store.

This place has a great look and fantastic patio....but....completely underwhelming. We went the other day and the problem is that the food on the menu and it's descriptions seem so modern and inventive and then you get your food and it's so basic and lame. And SMALL. And the rice and beans come as if your at a cafeteria or Casa Bonita sad little plastic cups. I honestly would say unless you want to sit on a nice patio, just go to las delicias across the street . 10,000 times better and more affordable .

Bland taco fare seems a contradiction in terms but Marg's eclectic offering of tacos is just that. I don't think the kitchen possesses any seasonings, even the guacamole screamed for some salt. The meats were all flavorless from the lamb to chicken or pork. Grilling and some seasoning could heighten the flavor of the meats. The food we ordered which included a tortilla soup wasn't served hot enough. The only bright spot was our superb waitress and the other assisting wait staff. The kitchen staff should be replaced!

  • Jimena M.

The food is pretty good. I really liked the mahi mahi ceviche. WARNING on the stuffed jalapeños: they're not breaded like you find at most places. It's a jalapeño cut in half and then stuffed. So if you like spicy foods, this choice is just right. I also like that they have shuffle board and board games to play at your table.

I love the tacos here. I had a tempura lobster one that rocked, the other was a pulled lamb with mint cream. Damn..! Don't be fooled about the portion sizes though. Order three tacos or you will feel cheated. I wish my server had talked me out of ordering only two because for a dollar more you get the third. They are creative and yummy.

I would give the downtown or cherry creek margs four or five stars, but don't waste your time with the margs in uptown. The food isn't as fresh as the other locations, the waiter is unresponsive, and the food was, frankly, a waste of time/money/calories. There was food in my water. We waited five minutes to be sat in an otherwise empty restaurant. There was dirt on my plate. Our margaritas (a skinny and house) got messed up when served (we recognized it because we've dined at the other margs). When we ordered gluten free our waiter said, "Ok, so no cheese." We got food that wasn't gluten free which we had to call to his attention. We never got the requested salt and pepper. He messed up identifying the order for he table next to us. Plus, on top of it all, the food that was served accurately was meh at best. I normally complain at a restaurant directly because I am invested in the restaurant improving (and that's the only way a good restaurant can improve), but here complaining seemed hopeless and all I wanted to do was leave. Also, there's a typo in their drink menu (redundant item). Overall, sloppy all around. Go to the other Margs. Don't waste your time with dirty dishes, bad food, and bad service.

Used a groupon for this place. They have really good tacos and they are not very expensive at all. The menu is good, so are the drinks. The Margaritas kinda kicked my butt a little. The service was also good. I will def go back to this place.

I've been to the Margs in cherry creek and liked it a lot, with a little more parking options I decided to head to the one in uptown for some tacos goodness. Sunday night, it wasn't busy and a lot of people at the bar which was nice. I ordered the shrimp and chicken taco which were good. Lots of flavor and just the right amount with the rice and beans side. Also tried the skinny margarita which was great, no complaints there. Overall, the vibe of the uptown location is nice, relaxed more my speed.

Written some time ago. (Finding a queue of draft reviews). Nice waitstaff, good place to watch football on Sundays...if you don't mind utterly subpar food. The brunch menu has some nice options at a good price, but execution is a problem. When I asked that my eggs be over medium (fully cooked white, runny yolk), I was told that the kitchen didn't really know how to do that, but that the server would try to get the request across the language barrier. (WHAT???) This raises many, many questions, the most relevant of which are: why do you have kitchen staff that doesn't know how to cook eggs? ("Fry the shit out if it" is not a proper egg temperature IMO) Why do you have eggs on the menu when you don't have the ability to cook them? Attempt #1 saw a single cooked egg, and a single nearly raw egg. Like, whites almost not cooked at all. Attempt #2 was good. Pancakes tasted good but literally crumbled in the butter-spreading portion of the meal. Bacon was first brought out barely cooked and in a paltry serving size, the second try was better but the bacon was too tough to eat since they'd just thrown the old stuff back in the fryer. Try #3 was the keeper. The steak and egg tacos were decent, but the side of rice on the chilaquiles was chewy. On the upside, the server and manager were very nice and took all the sending back in stride. But, PRO TIP it's time to hire cooks who know how to make eggs and how to know when the rice is undercooked.

Before I even go on, I will try this place again, with hopes that the review will improve or be better. My first concern (from a competition standpoint only) with the uptown location was its proximity (across the street) from Los Delicias, a landmark and outstanding mexican restaurant. In merely looking at the menu, no worry here - this is a taco "bistro" with VERY non-traditional, more mexican-fusion food. If you are expecting straight up mexican dishes, go across the street, and get there quickly because the place gets packed. Back to the review - Super cool menu with a variety of tacos like I've never seen before, with ranges and combinations of flavors that clearly show deep and bast food knowledge. The chips are fresh and delicious, ample, and perfectly salted - and not greasy. The variety of salsas is a nice touch. We ordered three, and the tomatillo was our favorite (with more than a hint of garlic). First sign the place is not-traditional - chips and salsa are $5, not included. Not a fan. We ordered the poppers which were good, and REALLY like the sour-cream-raspberry sauce. If you order these because you think they are going to be bacony, they aren't; and I wish they were cooked more. A couple of the jalapenos were just about raw, and merely warmed by way of cooking. We split a 3-taco plate, and ALL of the ingredients were amazingly fresh. The first was the Taco Al Pastor on a corn tortilla which was small, and get soggy quick. I wanted more meat, but the sauce was good and had a balanced level of "spice" and flavor, without being overwhelming. Second Taco: Mahi fish - better. Two strips of fish that were well spiced, with apple pineapple slaw that added a fruity component, which also resulted in a great surprising crunch. Quasi-satisfying, butt I wanted a more robust flavor, and definitely more stuff in the taco. Even if all of the same ingredients, more. The flour tortillas are homemade and REALLY good. The last taco was my favorite - the Banh Mi (Vietnamese). These was recommended by the server and was the best. Enough meat ingredients, and the flavor level I was expecting. The beans (black beans) and rice are nothing to write home about. The presentation was very bistro-like, which is not a complaint. I just wanted more IN the tacos, and more flavor. The service was really good. Our server was attentive, and knowledgable, and kept our sodas refilled before the glass became empty. He didn't smile - but got the job done! The bartender was super friendly when we walked through to the patio, and was very inviting and welcoming; and the bathrooms were clean. Somewhat of a sterile environment inside, and admittedly, empty at lunch-time. I want to try their specials on other days throughout the week, and of course, the margaritas!! We had a groupon, which made our price reasonable, but given that I was expecting a little more by way of content, quality and "vibe" - I will try it again with hopes that my thoughts will improve.

  • Kara A.

I really thought this place was just alright. The environment was warm and inviting but the tacos were just so so. I also wasn't impressed by the salsa. If you want something similar to this but good and are willing to take a drive, hit up Machete in Cherry Creek. Might be a good spot for happy hour since it has outdoor seating. There's a lot of apartment buildings and condos in this neighborhood (including mine), so it'll probably survive.

Just moved here this week. Having this place so close to home is/was a godsend. Taco Tuesdays are awesome ($2.50 for a Calle taco with steak, chicken, or pork). And their $5 margarita happy hour makes Friday, or any day, better. As I write this review I am polishing off their guacamole and house chips. This appetizer also came with one of their hand pressed soft tortillas and extra pico. Long story short, this place makes me happy and I will be frequenting quite often.

Hooray, Marg's Uptown finally opened on Saturday! We went in tonight hoping they might have reverse happy hour starting at 9:00, but it's only the typical late afternoon hours. They're still not 100% ready - some paint missing on the walls, no pear juice for Prickly Pear margaritas, etc. but the place is beautiful and has a great vibe. Uptown needed a good Mexican restaurant that isn't classified as a hole in the wall (don't get me wrong, I like La Pasadita Inn). I love their unique taco choices! The Colorado Lamb taco is one of my faves; for some reason they brought mine out on a flour tortilla even though it says it's served on a corn tortilla. Great gluten free options too - chips, salsa, beans, and several taco varieties on corn tortillas or lettuce wraps. Their rice is not gluten free. Our bill was $46 for two people; we had a skinny margarita, kiwi-jalapeno margarita, chips and salsa, and three street tacos each. Not bad, but if you're a big eater like my date, three tacos won't fill you up. Overall, Marg's Uptown is off to a great start! Our server was all smiles, very helpful and knowledgeable. We'll be back soon. And often!

Yummy brunch with mimosas on a lovely patio. Who could ask for more. I did feel a bit out of place with the uber hipster crowd in attendance. Blue hair nose rings tattoos from nose to toes on servers and guests alike I guess I am more of a traditionalist so I provably won't return but a good experience overall.

Left feeling hungry, disappointed, sober and ripped off. Went there for dinner last night and had 4 (vegetarian) tacos, 2 margaritas and we shared a salad. The bill was $50! What?! Why?! Didn't taste a drop of alcohol in my margarita and the tacos were sorry. When I asked what their hottest salsa was for my tacos the waitress offered me "Umm, Ta-Patio?" Really?! She meant Tapatio the bottled hot sauce?! Geez. I will never go back. If you want Mexican food walk across the street to Las Delicious. I totally regret trying something new instead of going to a Denver staple.

i got the 3 item special- korean pork, carnitas and carne asada. it was good. but, i eat a lot of mexican food and this didnt really rank up there with the spots that are by my house. maybe it was an off night? i get to Denver about one a month so i may give it another try.

Delicious Mahi Mahi tacos! Being from Southern California I am a tough sell on fish tacos in Colorado, but these were awesome and full of flavor. The wait staff was really nice and so was the owner, who was there also. I'll be coming back!

Always consistent in their offerings, solid taco choices and some quality pico make Marg's a worthwhile place to frequent on lunch. Always pretty quiet during lunch (never been for dinner or late night) with usually one or two servers so sometimes it takes longer than I would prefer for a quicker lunch. All in all a good place to grab a unique taco.

Service was fine, vanilla coconut margarita was amazing. Everything was pretty average other than that. A decent spot to have happy hour with adequate street parking. I didn't have any food besides chips and guacamole, but it was good enough. I'll probably check out the LoDo location at some point.

Finally! In a neighborhood with WEAK happy hour options, Marg's is a welcome addition. Occupying the storefront that has sat empty for a long time (at least as long as I've been here... 2.5 years?), this place offers a wide variety of margaritas and tacos. While a little pricier than surrounding options (Bella Vista, Las Delicias), I think it's worth it. I work in the neighborhood, and I'm relieved there is finally a happy hour option here that isn't Wahoo's. The patio is a wonderful addition, and I imagine this place will get plenty of business with the warm weather to come.

I've been back a few times since my last review. The service is hit or miss at this place. I gave them a decent review previously but after my last service experience it has dropped a few stars. We were completely ignored by our waiter at brunch the last time we went in. Luckily the other staff occasionally filled our mimosas but our waiter was brash and didn't check up on us to see if we needed refills on mimosas or anything else, we had to flag down other staff for help. Disappointing to say the least. I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon. Also, they kept raising the prices of their mimosas. I brought in a lot of business for their brunch, but we all stopped going when the mimosas kept going up in price.

Margs Taco Bistro continues to be the best taco and margarita place in Uptown. The drinks are stiff and the taco options are incredible. Even the quesadillas and salsa samplers are top notch.

Wow....I'm not sure how this place does it. Marginal food, terrible service, but they keep adding locations! Came here pretty much prime time on Saturday night (6:30-7ish). It was basically empty, which is obviously a bad sign. After being seated, had to wait 15 minutes (maybe more) for anyone to even ask us for our drink orders. The drinks were the highlight of the entire experience. It went downhill from there. The server was possibly the worst I have had in at least a year or two. And she managed to get a simple food order wrong. She would disappear for 30 minutes at a time. At least. I could go on, but why? I've been to all 3 of their Denver locations and have never been impressed. As others have said, if you're looking for your 'street taco' fix, there are far better options all over the city. Save your money and just avoid this place.

I want to love this place...margaritas and sports is my idea of heaven. I love the patio (if you bring your dog, they will bring water for the pup to sit on the other side of the fence), and $5 Margarita Mondays have definitely been clutch after work on many occasions. The house margarita is the way to go - the flavored ones tend to be a bit too sugary for my taste. The food is where I struggle though. Their vegetarian options are seriously lacking, and when my vegan family was visiting, there was almost nothing available for them on the menu. Definitely don't go for brunch - it's a complete disappointment. The plain tortillas are great though!!

I hate to say it bit if you are looking for a good taco look further. There are way better options in Denver then this. Also, you are bound to find a margarita better. I just don't feel like you are getting any bang for your buck here.

Had a late lunch here recently and enjoyed the outdoor patio area. We tried the pork tacos but found they were lacking in seasoning and not very substantial for the cost for 2. The chicken quesadilla was nice and crunchy texture and decent flavor. Nice variety of salsa flavors to choose from. Mojitos are good and have options for strawberry or watermelon flavor added. Nice wait staff, everyone seemed very friendly.

Tried the new menu again, fish over-grilled so much it was crispy and the service was the worst. Better off going to McDonald's a few blocks away. Three months since we've been here - have no intention to come back.

First time eating the food . Stopped in with Lilly for an late afternoon lunch and margarita's. And I can tell you , I love a taco's. And these were amazing and creative. And after chatting it up with the bartender we were talked into a house-made Margarita, Apps and a lot of taco's .Great atmosphere with a pleasant staff . I will be back and really soon ....

Got the chips+three salsas but we ran out of salsa way before the chips, so asked for more of two of the salsas, and they charged me an extra $1.50 per each tiny cup... LAME. If there was any potential of me returning after the mediocre food and exorbitantly priced margaritas, you just killed it with that fun little surprise on the bill.

I love Margs but the service at the Uptown location is consistently terrible. Definitely go downtown or cherry creek. Avoid uptown.

This place is right across the street from our apartment so we come quite a bit. While I normally prefer the traditional tacos, Marg's does a good job with theirs. I try and hit the weekly taco Tuesday special, and their regular happy hour is a pretty great deal. The main reason we come back is the staff and the service. We always sit at the bar, catch a game, and are always treated incredibly well.

Margs? Hmm feels like they are so close to getting it right.. I have been here a few times and must say its a pretty cool atmosphere.. And to some people that's pretty important.. As for me, I'll eat off a plastic crate in a strip mall if the food is good. Fist off the fresh tortillas are good, we can almost all agree on that.. It's what they're filling them with that's suspect.. I've yet to have one taco that I would order again.. Some of the flavors and textures are just off.. And that a shame because I'm a person who doesn't ever order flour tortillas but these are excellent.. It's too bad they're not being utilized.. Service has also been spotty at times and if I had to sum it up.. I've never left thinking I'd return.. Hopefully they can step it up.. Uptown is in need of more great restaurants..

It's always refreshing to see new business open up in this part of town because I frequent the area often. Instead of the usual Winston pizza or the family owned Mexican Restaurant or American bar eatery, it was nice to try a Mexican sports bar theme with flat screens everywhere!! For being a recently opened restaurant in that part of town it was nice and clean with a big bar! As for the food, I ordered the two taco meal with rice and beans (R&B) for $8.95. The three taco meal would have cost a buck more. The Philly cheese and chicken caprese tacos were both tasty. The black beans and Mexican rice was also very flavorful served in small plastic ramekins. My only disappointment is in the pricing of meals being quite high compared to great eats like Pinche Tacos. Granted Marg's is right across the street from the cafe I study at, it won't be the last time I visit due to the convenience when I'm starving like I did this last visit. It's a new place with a reputation to build and to hang out so I can't complain too much. Next time I'll try the tortilla soup that my friend ordered as a cup but to me looked like good decent bowl size and very yummy! Until next time Marg's.

We were here for a birthday party. While the waiter was nothing short of awesome, everything else kinda fell short. The bill for 2 of us at the end of the evening was $114.00. For tacos. Six of them. And drinks. Okay, we've identified the problem. Drinks. $14 for a shot of Milagro Anejo? That's insane. I wish I knew this before I took down 3 of them. The margaritas arent much better. Overpriced and sugary seemed to be the theme.

Maragrita was ok. Ceviche was good. Everything else just isn't. I have no idea why anyone rates this place above a 2. Service is slow. Ambiance screams mall food court. Food tastes like it's put together without intention. Don't waste your money. We had a Groupon for brunch and came late. Seriously, I'm not going to use the groupon. That bad.

This is a place begging for better management. We arrived at a normal dinner time around 6-pm on a Sunday. They were heavily understaffed. As I was reading a review about this place and their devastatingly slow service on Yelp; the man next to us got up and told the bar tender that he had been waiting for his chips CHIPS for 30 minutes and stormed out. This sealed the deal for us. We had waited about 10 minutes before the bar tender even made eye contact with us for our drink order. The Margaritas are overpriced (ranging from 9-15 dollars) for what they are. We ordered the 2-taco plate, which was good but the rice and beans were about the size of a thimble and were also overpriced for the size and quality. Save yourself a few bucks and go over to La Pasadita Inn on the corner of Clarkson and 20th which is about 3 blocks east. It's not the staff's fault. They were working hard but seemed inexperienced. They just need a few more people to manage their front end and some better cooks on the back end.

I consider myself a taco aficionado and this place definitely has the 3 V's....variety, valumptuous and very good tacos. I'll assume the margs are also good, I mean they had a good variety but the one I picked kind of sucked, it had jalapenos in it, which I love spicey stuff just not in my drinks.....but back to the tacos, they had about 12 to choose from, all different styles and flavors. On a scale of 1-10, they score an awesome.

My boyfriend and I just finished looking at apartments in the Uptown area and were looking for something to eat. We heard that this place had an array of unique tacos. Unfortunately, we arrived when they only had their brunch menu but decided to stay anyway. I had the huevos rancheros and it was delicious. It was two perfectly cooked eggs smothered in green chili. I think the green chili is what really made the dish excellent. This is a great location and it is wonderfully decorated. I hope to come here more often!

Staff are usually very friendly. Unfortunately, their kitchen doesn't seem too keen. I've ordered their house salad about 7 times and only once have they gotten it right. (I mean, all the ingredients are listed on the menu -- how hard is that to mess up?!!) I wasn't too keen on our waitress's snooty response last time I attempted to order the salad, either: true to their habit of leaving at least one thing out, there was no avocado. When I pointed this out to the waitress, there was no apology; rather, she said, "Fine. I'll go get you some more," like I I'd made a ridiculous request and was really imposing on her time with the one other table that was occupied. Oh well. Tortillas always taste fresh and delicious, though, and the pineapple-habanero salsa is muy delicioso. House margaritas are a little on the sweet and syrupy side, but I haven't tried their specialty drinks that my friends seem to thoroughly enjoy. Patio seating is nice and will be nicer once the construction across the street is done.

Been 5 times. Mediocre food, weak drinks. Slightly loud. Service ok. Aspiring-upscale atmosphere and slightly pricey unappealing food. $15 for chips, salsa and 3 weird tasting tacos. Would be 3 stars but ALL their salsa just does not taste good. Seriously, Baja Fresh and Chipotle have way better salsa than this joint.

Fifth star happily awarded! The service was stellar last night!!! Super good food and amazing service so well appreciated that I completely forgot to 'check in' on Yelp. After our first experience two weeks ago we dared to tempt fate by bringing "visiting from out-of-town" family here. From the very pleasant person on the phone taking the reservation for our herd - to the guy pulling plates off the table when we were done = this place gets all 5 stars plus more if Yelp would allow. I opted for the 2 taco plate of Marg's Club and the Langostino. On the menu the tacos are served with R&B. Put your thinking cap on and try hard to sort out the code on your own. Otherwise you'll be embarrassed that in a taco bistro you had to be told it's rice and beans. But here is the best part. Both the R and the B's are really, really very good. When is the last time you could actually taste the difference between the lake of refried 'something' laying next to the mount of tinted rice on your plate at any other Mexican food hang-out. Not here! Two well-sized ramekins (google it) arrive on your plate containing the R's & B's separately. This is a nice touch as both small cups manage to wrangle the contents on your plate rather than seep inappropriately under and around the tacos. This leaves the tacos free from that messy rice/bean residue situation. The rice is very flavorful and the black beans have a wonderful chipotle smokey flavor. Both additions worthy of their well earned capital letters = R&B. Seriously, we enjoy many places in Denver as our 'default' dining - and this one just shot to the front of the list.

Stopped in for a first time visit and I have to say pleasantly surprised! I love Mexican food and I'm usually out for a hole in the wall the wall type place with some authentic street tacos. While Margs is definitely more gourmet style Mexican food I thoroughly enjoyed it. The mahi mahi taco was cooked perfectly, the shrimp taco was also tasty and had more than just one shrimp...we all know those places, and the chicken with basil and mozzarella was fresh and something new. My girlfriend had the grilled steak salad and it was yummy also and a huge portion! All recommended by our great spunky server Angela! It was also nice when we told her we were looking for healthier options she told us the shrimp could be done grilled instead of fried and the tacos could all be done in lettuce wrap style! Oh and the roasted poblano pepper app was AWESOME!! If your looking for a great atmosphere, great location and some fresh food with lots of options give this place a shot! I'll be sure to stop by next time for Happy Hour!!!

Great margs -- AWESOME tacos... cool atmosphere --- may up my rating in the future, but for now it's 4 stars for what it is -- a stylish margarita/taco place in my neighborhood... PS - The Habanero Margarita is F#CKING AMAZING!

This is such a great addition to Uptown! We sat out on the patio and ordered a few happy hours margs (strong and tasty) and then ordered some chips and salsa (spicy and tasty) and then decided to split a few tacos. The bf got the langustine taco (tempura lobster) and I had the Belle (portobellos) and we shared the rice and beans. He was impressed with the lobster taco - it came with a sizeable chunk of lobster! The Belle taco was pretty good - but next time I might try another taco and substitute tofu for meat, which I think is such a great option. The beans were smoky and yummy but I thought the rice was a little greasy and flavorless. In any event, I love that we have such a cool spot in Uptown and it's going to be hard to resist stopping in here any time I have a hankering for a cool marg and some spicy flavors!

I don't get it....how is it that so many places find it difficult to properly do a taco? They don't need to be fancy or outrageous, just well made and fresh. Marg's apparently decided that fancy/outrageous was more of a draw than delicious because I had some of the worst taco's I've had in a long while here. I didn't have high expectations after looking at the menu. Words like vindaloo, caprese and banh mi made an appearance. We ordered some chips and salsa and received a basket of some crispy, some soggy, chips with some pretty bland salsas. I then ordered 3 tacos with beans and rice, which is normally quite a spread....but at Marg's, its a light lunch. Out came the tiniest corn tortillas with some chopped up pork and veggies on them...along with the smallest ramekins of rice and beans. The tortillas were stale and chewy and the pork was absolutely parched. Bright side? The service was lovely, friendly, and prompt. I think the only further experience I will have with Marg's will be a quick glance from the window of their new neighbors: d-bar.

My company decided to try this establishment for happy hour had a really disappointing. The margaritas were good but when it came time to close out our tab there was an issue processing our credit cards...all four of them from two different people. We were told by the manager, Shannon, that it was, "Definitely us." I have never had something like that happen before. It was embarrassing, really unprofessional, and clearly was not our issue as they ended up breaking up the tab to multiple charges which went through without issue. Needless to say we will not be coming back.

I'm new to the area and recently went to Margs taco bistro and our experience was amazing! Our server Angela killed it and was great. She offered us some samples of some new stuff they were trying there and it was bomb. And the bathrooms were spotless!

Definitely one of my go to places. They get you drunk off of one margarita. I have two because I am a lush. The bartenders are super friendly. The tacos are tasty and very unusual - in a great way. Would definitely recommend.

I came in with a few friends for happy hour on a Friday night. They have a really interesting taco menu and great margaritas. The shrimp taco was my favorite! I would've given them a higher rating if it weren't for our server. She seemed truly bothered every time we ordered something and she'd quickly walk away before we were finished talking to her. I would like to give them another try because they have an interesting menu but I hope the service improves!

I really wanted to like this place because it looks great and is steps from my apartment. I have been there several times since it opened but I've never been impressed. I assumed it was just that they were new and were getting things right, but at this point I give up. The food is average at best, but the service is horrible. Even when the place is empty the staff can't be bothered to care.

Menu is small but creative. I love how you have a choice of gluten free lettuce wraps, corn or flour tortillas. Very good flavors. Brunch menu is small but good. They have great big screen TVs to watch any games that are playing. Good cocktail list. Great location for uptown residents.

Try the ceviche. The drink specials with a beer and a shot of tequila are great. I love the fusion tacos - the vindaloo is seriously spicy, the bahn mi is fresh and delicious, and the korean pork is amazing.

The quesadillas ruled! And the margaritas were perfectly mixed ( I'm really picky about how margaritas are made). I will definitely come back.

The restaurant was bright and open. Our server Jonathan was great at explaining what the different sauces were and checked on us enough to be efficient but not intrusive. I had a 3 taco plate with the greek, vindaloo and korean pork, all of which were equally delicious. Good value for money and great service.

The service at the new Marg's is bad bad bad! It was not super crowded at 8pm on a Thursday, but there were probably 4-5 tables of people inside, and another 8-10 out on the patio. There appeared to be just one server inside, so I will cut the guy a little bit of slack...although the hostess could have probably stepped in to help out. It was 100 degrees outside and the water arrived about 10 minutes after we did. Drinks were another 10 (+ they sat at the edge of the bar for at least 5 minutes before our server picked them up). Chips and salsa were slow (surprise, surprise), but tacos arrived shortly thereafter. Unfortunately, of the two tacos I ordered, only one was correct...lobster was mistaken for lamb. I'm a big fan of the tacos at Marg's in general, and this new uptown space is very, very cool (a great addition to this neighborhood), but the service has got to improve before I'll consider coming back.

I try to like this place, but its the price that disappoints me. I have had ok mexican food, good mexican food, and great mexican food. This place falls right in between ok and good with a price tag that says its amazing. The thing that disappoints me the most is they don't do an all day taco Tuesday.

Not sure if it was because it was a slow Saturday or what but my breakfast burrito (from the brunch menu) was just a disappointment. I mean - what does it say when the best part of the burrito is the green chili that it's smothered in? The insides all seemed like they were prepared well in advance and just put together for this fairly small-for-$6 burrito: dry crumbly bacon, dry potatoes, and dry eggs. It would've been inedible if it weren't for some solid green chili. I guess the chorizo was good so that's something. I'll give it another try whenever they aren't only serving brunch (at 1 pm on a Saturday, I think I should be able to get lunch too, right?) and see how the tacos are, but overall I should've gone to Las Delicias.

  • Janet S.

I will raise this when they get some consistency with the food! We live at uptown and go there because it's convenient. Who can beat tacos for 3.50? Well I guess you get what you pay for. Sometimes the tacos are great, full of flavor, just as the menu describes, sometimes the same food is soggy and has a completely different taste. Ex- Philly taco and the linguista taco, awesome one day, mush two days later! yikes!!! Service was great every time but if I weren't living in uptown square, I would not come back. Come on guys, get rid of the person making mushy tacos!

  • Wayne S.

A little too loud for my taste, but I cannot deny how good the food is. I tried to go the one in Cherry Creek, but I was not willing to wait an hour for a table. On a friend's suggestion, I tried the Uptown location. I'm glad I did.

Not happy! I live above Margs and have been down a few times for bevs and food. The margs are decent, but food is not so great. The service is a different story it's always so slow and typically unpleasant. I This last visit my girlfriends and I sat at the bar for 5 minutes and did not so much as get a hi. I have given this place enough chances but this was the last time- won't be back.

One of the first places I visited downtown and still a favorite! I haven't had a taco I didn't like and the drinks are super fresh and tasty. My only complaint is that seating can be hard to come by on a busy night. We've ended up standing at the bar.

So happy to have a Marg's in Uptown. I've been to the other locations several times and was thrilled when I heard it was opening near me. The beanless dip is amazing. I'm a big queso fan and this is the best I've had in Denver. Order it with the fresh tortillas instead of the chips. You will be hooked. Margaritas are fantastic as well. So many choices and haven't found one I didn't like yet. The uptown location seems to be kind of slow as they are opening, but the patio stays pretty busy. I would definitely recommend checking it out.

Great night out! Wife and I just soaked up the mid 70 evening temps on the patio of Margs. We were served by Tomas and had a very pleasant experience. Couple of margs, a nice ceviecha and 6 great tacos. Service was attentive and timely. Food was quality and drinks fit the bill. Happy that we were able to get a chance to dine. Looking to go back for another ceviecha as a happy hour snack. Would suggest greater quality control of flower tortillas, ours were undercooked resulting in a doughy texture. However the corn tortillas were great. All-in-all, happy to go again.

Only came here for the margaritas. My friends and I ordered different kinds, frozen, strawberry, skinny etc. Overall, we all agreed they were all strong. So if that's your thanggggg then by all means, you'll enjoy this place haha. Great atmosphere in a nice location. Outside patio is a great area to chill and hang out and beat the heat on a hot summer day!

Five is for the drinks! We had the strawbannero, a kiwi marg, the vindaloo, the korean, and the queso. The margs are super delish and unique. The food was unfulfilling. I'll def be back for drinks but skip the expensive, small, bland food. Maybe during a happy hour, I'd get the korean taco again at more appropriate pricing

I came here because I really wanted a good ole frozen strawberry margarita. And i figured this place would be good because well, marg is in their name! I did like the outside seating and the waitress kindly charged my dead phone for me (bless you) but the margs were just very meh. They were too strong and too sour. I had to dilute mine with water and even still I couldnt' finish it. My friend got the nacho with queso dip and it was way too salty. I've definitely been to way better places that serve frozen margs and chips and dip.

Come here often. It's never busy. Much much better than Las not-so Delicias. That place is filthy anyway back to Margs. Well, just ran across a spider in our booth. Gotta Los a star for that again more webs by the window. Cmon people clean.

Went there for lunch. Food was gross, I mean really gross. The shredded pork had weird, gray sinewy tendons running throughout. Not fat, tendons-- gray. Eeww. The service was terrible. Place was empty and it still took the waitress 20 minutes to take our order. I ordered tacos a la carte, yet she brought me a platter. Tip booster perhaps? We were running late so I didn't bother complaining. However, $9.50 for that?? Stupid. $7 for chips and salsa?!?! Give me a break. Waste of time and $. Won't make that mistake again.

You cannot beat the happy hour margarita prices here. And they have some cool specialty margs if your feeling adventurous. Gaucamole is decently priced for its size, we ran out of chips and they gave us a whole new basket when we asked for one. The queso is also delicious. I think the appetizers and drinks make this place special. The tacos are good and lots of options. But I just love the appetizers and drinks that I don't even want the tacos after I've been there for a while. There is always the same guy behind the bar when I go and he's always attentive to refilling drinks and checking on any food orders (it's a good place to go and graze on a few items over a period of time). Also has some nice TVs to watch the game.

There are definitely places that fully take advantage of their location. Marg's Taco Bistro, for example, conveniently sits in the midst of one of the most popular and increasingly expensive parts of town. Right across the street at One City Block rents start at $1300 a month (for studios) and go all the way up to $2500. So I guess Marg's Taco Bistro can take advantage of that fact and can offer fairly overpriced tacos to people who aren't really interested in a taco but rather a yuppie simulacrum of one. After all, if you really wanted a taco, you could go to the city's many (more) authentic Mexican restaurants and get tacos that are both better and cheaper than the ones served at Marg's. Not that the Tacos at Marg's aren't good....I think they are fine in the fusion-y "tacos can be whatever" kind of way. But when I have the choice, I'd happily pick a more authentic Mexican restaurant over Marg's. And in this case, there happens to be one catty-corner. But then again, I'm not one who spends $1400 on a studio (really nice ones actually) and $12 on two tacos with mediocre rice and beans on the side, so I may not be the target demographic.

Pros: Great location and patio seating. Service was fast, even with the refills and the check, and courteous. Cons: Small portions, especially of the black beans - which were honestly the best thing on the plate. I had the three - taco combo that lets you sample three of the "world flavors" - for me, that was banh mi, vindaloo, and mahi mahi. The tacos seemed to have relatively accurate ingredients, but still managed to miss the flavor profiles of the dishes they were named after. Maybe the problem was that we arrived towards the end of the lunch hour, because nothing tasted fresh, exactly, and the taco fillings had all largely come to the same consistency: mushy. Even the tortillas tasted stale. I'd come back for Happy Hour. After a few drinks, those tacos would totally taste like they were worth the Happy Hour prices.

Come here for the drinks. Not for the food. I read made in house tortillas. Tastes like everything comes out of a can or package. Cheese tastes like easy cheese. If you want mexican, eat at delicias across the street. However. The margarita is excellent. Come to watch the game.

We came to Margs on a sunny Saturday afternoon, on a whim. We were able to grab the last table on their packed patio (the inside was empty but decor is lovely) and found service to be very quick. Our server was a giant help with suggestions, whether we asked for them or ordered something he guessed we might not actually enjoy (happened a couple of times). I had the ginger mint and watermelon mint margs, and a mexican mule and enjoyed them all. Margs are served in a pint-sized glass and so there's no fear of receiving a tiny cup for a large price. The mule came in a standard copper mug. Our server suggested against the vanilla coconut marg per it being super sweet, though that's the one I had wanted to try. I wouldn't hesitate to return or recommend this restaurant. Only suggestion is to sit away from the balconies on the patio. The patron on the top patio directly above me kept tossing bits of something down and it was gross.

I am not sure what people see in this place. I enjoy their margaritas and.... that's about it. We went for happy hour twice and tried the tacos but they were so unbelievably spicy that they were inedible. I like spice, I love hot sauce, this was mouth numbing, stomach turning, spicy. I will be back for the booze and that's it. Good skinny, loved the two spicy options (go for the spicy chili salt)

Something must be wrong with this place, because the Margs downtown is awesome. We came in on a Saturday at like 12:30pm and it was empty, except for the waitstaff hanging around the bar checking their phones and looking like they wanted to kill themselves. No one said anything to us, so we awkwardly stood around for a minute then sat ourselves at a table. Someone finally came over to us and brought us a menu, but it was only a brunch menu. When he came back I asked if they were serving their normal food and he said no. I think it's weird that at nearly 1pm a restaurant wouldn't be serving both their brunch and lunch items. Sooo then we left. I don't think I would ever come back to this location, mostly because of the terrible service.

Unfortunately, I really just was not wowed by my experience here which was for brunch/lunch over this last weekend. I met my brother and girlfriend here at 1 - brunch runs until 2 so we decided just to wait and snack/drink until the lunch menu came out (well, we didn't really PLAN on doing that but time flies when you're drinking). Overall, this was a very lackluster experience, starting with the first mimosa that came out with some sort of substance stuck to the inside of the glass, so we sent that back (to note, if you don't like pulp, these are NOT the mimosas for you. Also, they make them by the pitcher where I like them by the glass as you generally end up with more champagne...the more transparent the mimosas, the better, which was not the case here). When it came to the food, again, not that impressed. We started with some chips and guac and while the guac was good, the chunks of avocado were so large we wiped most of it out after just a few bites. I decided to get the quesadilla, asked for it not spicy, and to my great suprise my damn lips were on fire after the first bite. I am not sure if it was the crema on top or what but yea, HOT. I could only eat half the quesadilla before throwing in the towel and that was because I was just SO hungry! I gave the rest to my brother who made an effort but gave up after a few bites. My brother ordered 3 tacos and only ate 2 and even then, was because he was hungry as he did not care for the taste of them much at all and finally just stopped after biting into the 3rd. While our server was nice, he was a bit scattered. Again, my quesadilla was hot and when my brother declined another beer received one anyway. I mean, he drank it of course, but we just thought it amusing that it appeared to be opposite day there and we just didn't ge the memo. No plans to return.

  • Garrett G.

Margs is a great spot since I live literally across the street! With a name like Margs one can only assume they make a strong margarita, and so they knew exactly what they were doing when they named this place. I can attest to this being true. Their margaritas are strong for days. This is one of those place that after 2 of just the regular house margs you are forgetting your day! So take it easy when you order some. However probably even better than the Margaritas is the fact that they have an amazing lunch and dinner menu. My personal favorites are to start out with a cup of the Chicken Tortilla Soup. This is literally one of the tastiest soups I've had! Like seriously it's so delicious on a cold day in Denver like we are now. Other than that, the tacos are pretty good too! I'd say the best is the Club taco with chicken. They do some pretty crazy and interesting combinations, so if you are feeling daring give some of their more exotic tacos a try. Overall rock solid place. Can't complain. Will be back.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
