This little dive has awesome green chili and their guacamole tostadas were excellent, made just way I like them, lots of cheese. Will definitely be going back there soon!

Great little lunch type counter restaurant. While we are our delicious mexican burger several locals came in as well - gets a lot of traffic. Dive-y north Denver style restaurant super small menu: burritos, tacos, enchiladas & burgers to name a few. Done well, great to grab a bite to eat. Was not disappointed by their delicious green chili and the burger was done to perfection.

THE definition of "hole in the wall" Mexican food. It is awesome. I he the supreme pork burrito - smothered in green chili, cheese, lettuce and tomatoes. The chili has just enough spice to make it delicious but not too hot- but this is just my opinion. It may be too hot for gringo types ... Lol. The folks behind the counter are very nice and attentive so the service is just as good as the food. Try this place, you'll enjoy!

I've only had this place a few times since the location is close and the fid has been fair each time. Just don't order close to closing, I made that mistake and got food poisoning.

The location on Pecos is a dive. The food is mediocre. Out of all the burrito places in north Denver this is at the bottom of the list. Don't expect too much from this place and you'll be OK. On the plus side, the staff is friendly so I'm sure they do have plenty of regulars.

Incredible juevos rancheros. That's all I ever get, so that's pretty much all I can comment on. The green chili is so good and has the perfect amount of heat. I have gotten all of my family members hooked on this place.

Best chicken tacos ever! The chorizo is flavorful for breakfast burritos any time of day. If your not in the mood for Mexican the hamburgers are cooked to perfection. My favorite burrito is potato, beef, bean, chilli and cheese. The creamy beans and crisp potatoes create a textural contrast to compliment the delicious flavors. The north Denver location is my favorite of the locations but all of them have good service and great food so stop by your nearest LUCEROS!

I have only been to the location in Westminster, but these guys make the best breakfast burritos in town! Big, delicious strips of bacon cooked after you order! Drool! My whole office is obsessed.

Just finished my combo smothered burrito and it was fabulous! Just the right about of heat in the green chile and my tummy is full, full! Great prices on items and didn't have to wait long for my take-out order. This will be the lunch post when I'm craving good Mexican food and some spicy green chile!

Nice little find right up the street. I tend to stay off this section of Pecos because of the damn train that always sits on the tracks just north of Lucero's. But, every now and again, I venture up there to head north and I get lucky... no train! One time I headed up there, I noticed this little Mexican joint with a faded sign. I told myself I would be trying it very soon. On a night where I felt like a decent meal without cooking it myself, I decided to give Lucero's a try. This is not a fancy place... just order at the counter and wait until your order is called. The kitchen is small, as is the dining area. Most people, I assume, just order and take it to go. But, if you want to stay, you can certainly do so. My wife and I both had the combos (includes a bean tostada, bean burrito, and a beef taco (all smothered in green chile)). The taco shell was a little stale and the beef in it tasted like it was reheated a few times. But, it was tasty nonetheless. The green chile is what makes this stand out. It looks a little soupier than most, which I liked! Good quality meat and chiles in it. Not too spicy, but just the right kick. All in all, a place I will go back to... Oh, and it only took 4 mins to get my food from the moment I ordered... A+ for service!

After visiting Lucero's Westminster location on Saturday, what better way to follow it up than with a trip to the Denver location? Yes, yes...my weekend was full of gluttony. I wanted to have my BF taste their delicious food, so off we went. The menu here is slightly different than in Westminister (no chile relleno on the menu, to my great disappointment). We ordered up two egg, potato, and chorizo breakfast burritos and dug in. Very delicious, and I am continuing my love affair with their green chile. GAWD it is delicious!! It sets your mouth on fire and keeps your lips tingling. I had forgotten about Dug's huevos rancheros review until the couple at the table next to us got theirs served. WOW - I will definitely get this next time. It was a gut bomb to be sure, but what a gut bomb it looked to be! This location is definitely more "hole-in-the-wall". A little grungy and rough around the edges, but the food still shines.

I heart this place! Viva Huevos Rancheros! Hands down the best Heuvos Rancheros I have ever had! I like food and food likes me and this in one of those gems that I love hitting up when in the area! From the green, bacon, beans, eggs, cheese and tortilla everything goes to make perfect blend of tastes and spices! YUM, the only way these could be any better is if I was eating them with Salma Hayek Jiménez, and still I would be paying more attention to this dish! A little sketch from outside but take a risk stop grab a bite its worth it, Dug E Fresh says so!

I finally sampled true Colorado-style green chile yesterday and I'll be back for more. When I moved to Denver I was totally grossed out by the less authentic slimy stuff I saw poured over burritos at Pete's Kitchen. But the true Colorado-style green chile slathered on top of breakfast burritos, "Mexican burgers" and pretty much everything served here is tasty, authentic and a perfect example of a uniquely Colorado cuisine.

Ever wonder what an aluminum can laced with salt tastes like? Wonder no longer. At Lucero's you too can be served green chile that tastes EXACTLY like the inside of a can, and for your eating pleasure they will salt your food so heavily that you will think you are drinking the ocean.

This restaurant is such a hole in the wall. The problem with this place is its green chili is sooooooo good. If they took more time to keep the tables clean I would happily go in every day. My suggestion to everyone is get your chili to go.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
