We have always come here to get a drink before a show and decided to try it before coming to see Annie (thanks, Yelp!) since it is so conveniently located next to the Temple Buell theatre. This place is overpriced with sub par food and small portions. My husband ordered the gnocchi which was about 6 oz of food for $20. The salumi plate only had 8 thin slices of 3 different meats that weren't spectacular. I ordered the wedge salad and it was ok but nothing to match the $9 price tag. For dessert, we ordered vanilla bean creme brulee and although the custard was delicious, it had a thick layer of burnt sugar on top that I had to use moderate force to break. Our server was decent at first, but as it got towards the end, service became very poor. My husband had to hunt down a pepper shaker for me for my salad. I am definitely disappointed in this place for $72.

Went there tonight for a quick dinner before our show. Took the waitress a long time to greet us, therefore we were concerned we might not make our show time. Rudely she assured us we would....by 7:15 we were trying to flag a staff member down to get our bill and pay so we could get to our seats for our 7:30 show. Service was slow and our waitress seemed as if she wanted to be anywhere but there....this is a restaurant designed for theater goers so we were assuming they would be timely in their service.....they were not. Food was alright but we will not be going back.

Amazing staff and great food it was like we had a full staff in our home Chef Nic Weber and team created some very well thought out dishes and the bar manager Eric couldn't have been nicer or more attentive to our needs, our waitress who's name escapes me (so sorry) was like an old friend we felt like family and it was our anniversary they really put out the best dining experience we have had in Denver ! I recommend going here for any occasion.

We went here prior to seeing Jersey Boys and loved it! The food was outstanding. My pepper steak was one of the best I have had. The food was served fresh and timely. The appetizers were excellent and the tuna tartar was fresh and flavorful. Liking in Hawaii I am usually skeptical when I have fish outside of the island but theirs was good. The desserts were absolutely incredible. I had the fried peach cobbler with fresh vanilla bean ice-cream. It was soo good. Sure, the place is more expensive and may seem crowded at times but that's what happens when you are directly across from the Temple Buell.

Excellent food (but expensive and small portions) Excellent staff (polite, humorous and authentic) Excellent service (accommodating) Advice: Make a reservation just in case. On one occasion, I missed my reservation and it was very busy. I had to sit at the bar which was ok, but the bartender and servers forgot about our orders then had to rush the order so we did not miss our show. On another occasion, due to traffic we missed our reservation and the place was totally dead so we were sat immediately regardless. I cannot compliment the staff ENOUGH... They were very kind, very accommodating and even made positive remarks about the shows we were going to see. Suggestion to Establishment: Consider having a portion of the menu that is lower priced entres so people can still have a classy experience without having to ruin their credit. Perhaps pastas. ;) Observation: When it is busy, the service is pretty bad. When it is slow, the service is impressive.

The decorations are tacky.. It's not theme-y enough for it to be its own thing.. But it's not nice enough to justify 30$ plates. The food was good. We ordered a crab cake for an appetizer.. Enough for a bite a person for four. I got the scallops we also had the lamb and tenderloin. The meals were delicious but came very late... "Sorry the kitchen is behind". We were nervous about being late to our play. Not sure if we would go back. But the food was good.

My husband and I went here this past weekend with his parents before catching a show. My first comment as we waiting for drinks, "How come we have never come in here? It's fantastic" The energy and decor is fantastic. VERY much like an old 50's bar. Clean lines, great pop of color and a classiness that seems to carry over to the wait staff and their food. Food: Appetizers: Meatballs - YES, YES / Truffle fries... OH YES... those are the winner! Meals: I have no idea, I had the Macaroni and Cheese and it was amazing! I am a macaroni and cheese freak, so this was divine. My husband even ate more of my lunch than I did.. BTW, when you order chicken with it, they put the chicken on the bottom. It's in there, I promise. Dessert. I didn't get any, I was too full! The alcoholic refreshments: Every drink I had was amazing. I love their use of bitters, it seems so many tenders have issues getting that right, so it's nice to have some drinks that don't fail at that. Dress up, go out for a night on the town and go here. It's worth it!

Pretty disappointed with the menu, speed of service and quality of meal. Things came out cold. Kids Mac and cheese too fancy for kids to eat, Bloody Mary made with Clamato. Just lots to complain about.

A great place to hang out right before a musical/play at the Buell Theater! This isn't exactly the first place that comes to mind when i want to hang out with friends. However, the ambiance, atmosphere and bartender are great! Prices are a bit higher than your run of the mill restaurant, but look at the area it is located. I have been here twice and ordered a good amount of drinks, wine and some appetizers. I distinctly remember the beef carpaccio. The capers and mustard dressing do a great job of dressing up the dish. The beef is a bit too thin but when you wrap it up with the breadstick, everything comes together nicely! I would recommend Limelight if you are in the area but nothing that would draw me specifically here if I were in the area. A pleasant lounge to relax in and soak up the light modern atmosphere.

The tuna tartare is terribly good! Great service. I always run in here during intermission at a show at the performing arts center for a beer and tuna tartare. Cheaper than the theater bar and they always get me in and out in 15 minutes. Also great for a leisurely meal before or after the show. Menu is somewhat limited and not quite as good as other Kevin Taylor restaurants, but prices are reasonable.

We stopped by here before heading to the Buell for the Blue Man Group. I've never been but my fiance has been a few times and he likes it. So me being a good sport and not looking on here first (which is a rarity) agreed to go. Ok, so it was also a last minute thing as time was tight. I had the mahi mahi and him the halibut. Mine was very well presented and tasted excellent. Yes I would definitely order it again. Kinda wish though the portion was bigger. But the main reason why I'm only giving it 4 is because they ran out of bread and were only giving a couple breads per table. We asked why and they weren't prepared for the rush. Really? You don't plan for rushes. Umm yea, I was thinking of what Gordon Ramsey would say to that. Too explicit to put here. I really would have wanted more bread. Oh well. Maybe next time we can get more bread. Yes the bread peeves me.

Where do i even start? We showed up right at 6, and were promptly seated. We waited and waited and our waitress walks by and says, i will be right with you.,,,10 minutes later we ordered our drinks and dinner items, which consisted of ALL appetizers (another one would have been ordered but they were out) One was a salad, one was cheese, one was fries, one was pork and the other muscles. Finally we receive our drinks. By now, it is 26 after the hour....26 minutes for a drink??? We wait and wait for our food to come out, and notice a lot of people around us getting their orders that ordered after us!!! We ask where our food was to another server in the area because ours was ever absent as she was most of the night.... who knows!!! i observe a couple of ladies at another table who are talking to a server about their entrees. after about 10 minutes i noticed why... their first course of 1 soup and 1 salad arrived AFTER their entrees!!! it now has been 45 minutes since we arrived, and still no food. Our food finally shows up, it is now almost 7 oclock. Oh and i will say the muscles arrived 6 minutes after the other apps.... We are checking things out, and this "pork" appetizer looks and smells like tuna. i take a small taste. it even tastes like tuna.... This was also supposed to be in slices, and it showed up looking like tuna salad. The "burrata" was not good either, cold as ice... it is usually slightly heated or room temperature. The muscles....fishy fishy fishy, ate one a stopped, don't want to get sick!!! We sent those 3 items back so now we have a side salad and fries for dinner. A couple of ladies are seated at 7 and are also going to the play that starts at 7.30. i told them, you will never make it if you order food!!! Turns out they couldn't order food anyway!! THEY RAN OUT!!!!! SERIOUSLY?? explains the tuna-pork, must have been someones lunch. now it is 7.15 we need to get over to the theater. we hunt down someone to run our card, and make it out of there with 5 minutes to spare before the show....WOW terribly bad!! never experienced something so bad

We stopped in here right before going to Doyle and Debbie Show and thought it was a very classy place. The drinks were a bit steep, but you could get a beer for a reasonable price. The staff was very friendly and very quick with orders. We only stayed for a quick drink so I can't really say much more than I will definitely be back.

The boyfriend and I went to Limelight for the last night of Restaurant Week. Approaching the mostly-empty restaurant for our 8pm reservation was a little disconcerting... what kind of restaurant is completely dead at 8pm on a Friday night? I had seen the Restaurant Week menu online before making the reservations... Poached Pear Salad with arugula and fried goat cheese? Bison carpaccio? Seared seabass? Pork Tenderloin with prosciutto? Sign me up! Sounded amazing. Unfortunately, that is NOT what was offered. Not even close. There were only 2 choices for each course (as opposed to the online menu with had 3-4 choices per course). 1st course was a simple salad with cherry tomatoes, parmesan, and balsamic vinagrette, or butternut squash soup. We got one of each. The salad was average at best. The soup was actually good, though lukewarm. 2nd course was a choice of seared sea scallops and a ribeye. Again, we got both. The ribeye looked good, but it turns out that literally 1/3 of it was fat. Not the good kind of marbled fat throughout; rather, it was just a hunk of straight up fat. It was disgusting. The rest of the steak was cooked at a perfect medium rare and it tasted good, but not because of any brilliant seasoning. I could have made myself a steak that was just as good at home on my grill. The steak came with exactly 3 small fingerling potatoes, halved, and about 1/2 teaspoon of blue cheese butter. I am not exaggerating. The sea scallops were served and I just couldn't help myself from laughing out loud as soon as the server left. My boyfriend was served exactly 2 sea scallops on a giant white plate. I would say a total of 1.5 oz of sea scallops. It was comical, and I laughed everytime I thought it about it for the rest of the night (and now!). The third course was a choice of oreo cheesecake and creme brulee. The cheesecake that my boyfriend ordered was about twice the size of his entree - no kidding. It was good, but it was obvious that it was not made fresh in-house. My creme brulee with berry jam was tasty, but again - it was gigantic. It was at least the same size of my steak (at least the edible portion of my steak). So bizarre. The boyfriend ordered a gin martini and it was average at best. My glass of wine was definitely on the short pour side. The service was... not great. I expected much more from yet another "classy" Kevin Taylor restaurant. i'm not a super "uppity" type, but the plates were served and cleared on the wrong sides and the waitress both served and took away my boyfriend's plates before mine. That really bothered both of us. It was clear that she was trying to be proper, but obviously was absolutely NOT in real life. Really irritating. The restaurant lacked ambiance; rather, it felt sterile, cold, and completely uninviting. The portion sizes were laughable, and the service was not good. Overall, we were both incredibly disappointed. This was my 2nd Kevin Taylor restaurant in 2 weeks, and I absolutely will never eat at another Kevin Taylor restaurant ever again. Coming from Chicago and experiencing truly great food, I can say with certainty that if this restaurant operated in the way that it currently does with the food that comes out as it does, it would be laughed out of Chicago. I believe that the only reason that these Kevin Taylor restaurants do good business is because they are so close to (and within) the performing arts complex. The experiences themselves certainly do not live up to the hype that I heard, and there are MUCH better places for a great meal in Denver.

UNIMPRESSED! Wow, I'm so disappointed, but honestly not that surprised. Service was horrible, food was meh, atmosphere was nice and a good bottle wine list were the only good things. A few months ago when we were going to see The Book Of Mormon, we called ahead of time to see if we could at least put our names on the waiting list while we were on our way into downtown, as we got the BOM tickets last minute and I failed to make reservations. The person on the phone is incredibly rude and needless to say we ended up eating a delicious meal at Oceanaire. We decided to give Limelight a second try when we saw the matniee show of Mamma Mia on Super Bowl Sunday. This time I did make reservations. But will never go back to this restaurant again and here's why: 1. It took AT LEAST 10 minutes for our waitress to even acknowledge our presence and bring us water. 2. Wine took forever, taking our order took forever, she never came back to check on us after the food was delivered (or before for that matter) unless we chased her down to get something. 3. We ordered a soup to share (we just wanted to try it and didn't really want our own in addition to the meal) and it was brought with the meal instead of as an appetizer. 4. We ordered sandwiches that included fries but they only brought out one little pot of ketchup. When we asked for more ketchup we were told that they "may be out of ketchup." Seriously??? What restaurant runs out of ketchup in the height of the lunch hour when half of the menu comes with fries?!? She said she'd try to wrangle some up for us but then came by and said they were completely out of ketchup. Ok whatever. 5. The steak sandwiches were open face with no condiments. Weird. The fried onions on top were good and once I put some horseraddish on top was pretty tasty but not what I expected. 6. The lunch menu was very small and offered little variety. The presentation of the food was unimpressive, like the items were thrown haphazardly on the plate. 7. Did I say how much the service sucked?

Terrible food and even worse service! The prices this place charges are incredible considering the quality of food. Went here with my mom before an afternoon show on Saturday. Walked in at 12:10 pm, waited 15 minutes before we were even acknowledged at the table. The servers were confused as to who was waiting on what table. Finally our waitress comes, we order drinks and food, 20 minutes later we get our drinks. We ordered soup and salad (not rocket science?)which finally arrived at 1:30. Salads had rotten lettuce in them and unedible. Wow! For such a hoity-toity place it sure was crap! By the time we were able to pay and get out of there we had 4 minutes before the show at 2. Save your money and go somewhere that has good food and service! We won't be back!

I wanna give this place 3 stars . . . but I prayed to the Lord and he told me to be a truthful doggie. So I gotta be honest and give this place the 4 stars its earned on both of the occasions my honey girl and I have visited. Each time we only had an hour before a DCPA show, and both times they cruised right through, giving praise-worthy and fast service, and excellent food and drink. Having read a bunch of the other reviews that are lower than this one, I don't know what to say. I'm usually a harder grader on restaurants than many in Yelp, but this place has rocked each time we were there. I can only suggest that you give it a try. (And maybe say a little prayer beforehand:-). "Praise the Lord. Feed me gooood" might help.

We had Wicked tickets tonight, so I made reservations at Limelight. The staff was friendly and we were able to finish our meal without being rushed to make it next door for the show. The decor is a bit bland, matching the food. The huge windows facing the theater are what makes dining here interesting -- it's great for people watching. All in all, you could do worse and you could do better, but the convenience factor of this restaurant can't be beat.
(3)

The only reason I am giving this two stars is because it was fast and the service was good. The food was terrible and overpriced - overpriced to the point I felt more than ripped off. If you are going to the theater, make sure to leave time to go someplace good.

The cream of corn soup is quite literally the best soup I have ever had. So astonishingly good that I returned the next night to enjoy it again and I signed up for a Yelp account to sing its praise! General manager, Patrick, and all of the staff I encountered provided superior service. I arrived 45 minutes before a show. They had my appetizers delivered within minutes and the excellent salmon main course delivered within 15. I also loved the grilled artichoke w/ butter and aioli. My hat is off to the chef. If you're heading to the theatre, RSVP for a wonderful dinner before the show. Double-check the restaurant hours, which are influenced by the threater schedule. I'll be visiiting my new favorite restaurant every time I'm in Denver.

Never again. What a disappointment.I'm a season subscriber at DCPA, so I've eaten here many times. I must say it's gone downhill recently. I took my mom there for dinner to celebrate her 87th birthday. The first disappointment was my martini, which was more vermouth than vodka. Why did I bother to order a premium liquor? Hmmm. The second let down was no tobacco onion strings on the menu. I was so looking forward to those. Third disappointment - my overcooked filet. Brian agreed it was overcooked and offered to take it back, but time was short so I declined. After all, Mom only has one 87th birthday and we need to get to dessert, right? Sadly, service was so slow that we didn't get to order a birthday dessert. All in all a very disappointing birthday dinner.

Really nice quiet place to unwind after work and before a show. . .my date had the fish and she thought it was "light and delectable". The waiter talked me into the pork chop (I love a good steak) I was blown away it was about three inches thick and perfectly prepared in a fantastic sauce! overall I have eaten here many times in many years and Brandon and the chef do a marvelous job, it is an excellent value as well. . .Bravo Limelight keep it up and see you the 26th! For Wicked!!!

I have eaten at Limelight many times and really enjoy the food and the location. But, we had an early reservation for 4 people on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, wanting to get parked before the Parade of Lights started, so we could enjoy a nice meal before the Colorado Symphony concert. On Friday afternoon I received an email from Open Table saying Limelight had cancelled our reservation! I called the restaurant to find out what the problem was. The very indifferent woman who answered said"Oh, we have a private event scheduled so the restaurant is closed to the public" Not a word of apology or sympathy or understanding of the difficulty of finding another place on one of the busiest nights of the year. If the Kevin Taylor group had to cancel at the last minute like that, why wouldn't they call all their affiliates and make arrangements to accomodate these guests somehow? This is the worst customer service I have EVER received.

I've been in twice and the food was superb, service was fast and professional, and I felt like a regular. On a personal level I think Kevin Taylor is a tool, but what the hell, this restaurant is convenient for shows (and the Corner Office SUCKS horribly, unless you want a oral or cocaine in the bathroom), and the staff is top notch.

We felt like we were having dinner at an old folks home! Not really our crowd. Decor is very flat too. Nothing outstanding about this place, but at least it's close to all the theater action. Can't beat the location if you're trying to grab a quick bite before a show!

Limelight sits in the heart of the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, and offers the patrons a classy place to grab a bite and a cocktail before heading into or out of a show. The facilities are clean and the staff energetic, pleasant, and professional.

The 1st time we ate here must have been an off night. Not only was it X-Mas, but they had kitchen issues; I guess too much sipping on the EggNog. We returned here (mostly because of a $100GC), and was pleasantly surprised, enough so that I wanted to update and upgrade my original review. Our starters was a salad topped with poached Lobster. YUM!!! Not sure if $15 a salad yum, but yum, the same. The Hub-To-Be re-tried the Osso Busco, and this time it was falling off the bone delish---4 1/2 stars !!!! My seared scallops were the only miss of the night. 3 lukewarm, bland scallops sat atop the worst cauliflower I've ever tasted. It was just plain weird. It wasn't whipped and it wasn't whole pieces.....it was.....what's the word, chopped maybe. That wasn't the worst part, it had an awful taste to it. Just plain bad. We couldn't eat it. We're not huge desert eaters and nothing leaped off the page, so we ended our meal there. On a bright note; it's not an expensive restaurant, super Theatre location, and really does hold promise. We'll be back at the DCPA in Feb, so we're hoping that 3rd time's a charm -- Looking forward to upping those stars !!!

A great place before or after a show! Was here, once before, for apps. Really good meatballs. Today, came for Sunday brunch. I had the shrimp and grits. Delicious! My dad had the breakfast burrito, filled with chorizo. Mom had a corn chowder soup and beautiful looking salad. Terrific ambience and good service! We will return!

Do not even bother. We got here at 6pm and were told they weren't serving the whole menu because a table of 14 was supposed to be here at 5 and just got there. The kitchen was backed up with their order. So, if you show up late for your reservation you get your food, but if you are on time you can get the fries on the shortened menu.

We've had better nights than what happened to us at the Limelight earlier this week. 1. Our reservation was lost. 2. Waited at the bar for a table for 15 minutes - which wasn't too bad. It was a busy night before the show at the Buell. 3. SLOWWWWW service. We finally got dinner 1 hour and 15 minutes after arriving at the restaurant. 4. My wedge salad was great - but the Scottish Salmon was way too small for $25 - and not that good. See my photo. 5. Had to rush through the main course to make it to our seats at the Buell only 2 minutes ahead of the curtain going up. 6. Very expensive, small, and rushed meal. It wasn't fun. Sorry, Limelight- epic fail! Needless to say, we won't be going back to the Limelight.

My guest says, "I feel like we're in a Denny's." Two olives, while technically extra, is not extra olives in my dirty martini. The TVs at the bar are super tiny. Martini served in a hot glass (that had just come out of the dishwasher). Took waaaaaay too long to get my drink-- the place was slammed and understaffed. Having said that, though, the joint's gotta get three stars because the bartender-- although showing his frustration and overwhelmed-ness-- handled it like a champ. He acknowledged me several times as I stood at the bar waiting, and waiting, and waiting. He accepted help, was courteous to the servers who were on him for their drinks. Ultimately, it came down to staffing, and the opening night of Motown (which was amazing, bee tee dubbs) requires more than one bartender. My man was doin' his best to hold it together, but everyone in the joint was waiting on something or other. The staff were dope, but grossly outnumbered.

Oh Limelight Limelight Limelight. For years now I have tolerated your mediocre food at expensive prices because of your location, but no more. Today you had 1 hour and 15 minutes to feed me and my kids 2 burgers and a soup/salad. After waiting 1 hour and 10 minutes, you delivered 2 burgers with burnt buns and an inedible "Corn Chowder" that tasted like liquid smoke. We rushed across to see our show without time to stop at the restrooms. I will never, ever, ever go back.

Used to work here, went back the other night just to check out the new menu. It's the best it's ever been. It's under new management by an extremely qualified and knowledgeable guy that can tell you anything you want to know about wine. The new chef has turned things around as well with great attention to detail. The food was excellent, our server was prompt, the drinks were great as well. This deserves 5 stars.

We expected worse traffic from COS to the Buell in Denver and arrived way early. The Limelight is directly across from the Buell's doors and has a patio, but we sat indoors where the glass walls of the bar allowed us to watch the crowds. I had cocktail that involved Glenfiddich and saffron bitters, served on the rocks. My wife had a chocolate martini. Both were excellent. Curious about saffron bitters, I asked the barman if I could get just a drop on a spoon. He warned me against that but suggested and brought a sample mixed in sparkling water for me to sample. We just wanted small plates so the wife-unit had a delectable vegetarian soup and I had a crab cake. Thew soup was great, at least the spoonfuls I sampled. The crab cake was so-so and cost Limelight a star. The service was excellent with only one slight delay because our server was also the barman and was mixing someone else's drinks. I noticed that staff was added as we were there, so they ramped up to meet anticipated crowd. I believe we were the last to be served by the barman and his duties became confined to manning the bar.

**based on one visit thus far** I was starving before the show I went to this past Friday, so my friend and I decided to hop into this semi-casual but could be dressy/romantic spot that is conveniently located across from the Buell theatre. After perusing the menu, we decided to share a snack and get a couple drinks. Well, nope, they were out of the drink I wanted (why wasn't it crossed off the menu then?). We order our snack and I get that it was a cheap table to serve, but it'd still be nice for you to refill my water when I requested it. I'm guessing the mark up is b/c of the location, but now I know to snack at home before going to the show. I don't think I'll come back here. To sum up: pricey food that's not worth it, IMO. Service is meh. Waiter knew we were attending the show and was still pokey (probably b/c we only ordered one app to share).

Happy birthday to me. A martini and Evita. Perfect. I also tried the pork belly sliders. I just had to really they have been calling my name since the last time I was at Limelight. I thought they were good but the buns were just yummy and sweet. I am glad I got my fix and probably won't eat them again. It is a little uncomfortable sitting at a bar by myself but I drank through it and had a nice evening. I will review Evita here shortly. Just got really busy this week.

I have been going to shows at the DCPA complex for years. I have always avoided the restaurant in the complex because of a bad experience many, many, many years ago. We were in town for a performance of "The Nutcracker" and wanted dinner before the show. We tried several restaurants in the area and all had long waits which we were informed of by legions of ill-trained, eye rolling hostesses. On a whim we tried the Limelight. We were greeted by one of the most professional hostesses I've seen in a long time. She was glad to see us and when we asked if they had room for 3 for dinner she cheerfully told us there wasn't room in the dining room but if we would be comfortable in the lounge she could get us a table there. She was such a refreshing change from the eye rolling hostesses of our past 30 minutes! We were promptly greeted by our server and we had cocktails on the table in no time. I had a cucumber infused martini that was amazing! We just had light dinners of selections off the appetizer menu and weren't made to feel we were taking up space. We had salads, tuna tartare and cauliflower soup. Everything was delicious. I have sent them an email to get the cauliflower soup recipe. It was a revelation. I have been in the service industry for a long time and I was extremely impressed with the Limelight. It is a sophisticated blend of casual yet high end service. I will always make them a part of my theater going plans.

Great place to go before heading to an event at the DPA. Nice contemporary place. Bartender, Josh, is really fantastic and is such a charmer. You are going here for the location and convenience but the food and selection are good. We have not had anything that was not a good meal or bar snack and the service - including JOSH - is great.

I love the outdoor area of the Limelight for drinks before a play. It has a heated area for cold nights with heat lamps above. They told us it will be open even in the winter. A new feature is you can buy your drink there, and carry it over to the theater and right to your seat with it. It worked great. I got an IPA and off I headed right before the show. I can't wait to see what it is like in the middle of winter with the heat lamps going.

Great dinner before a show - I always eat here before attending a performance, the food is good if a bit pricey and the location makes trip logistics easier. I enjoy the crowds and atmosphere, gets me charged up and ready for the show. Also a great place to see and be seen... Staff are always very courteous and welcoming. I have only limited experience here as an out-of-town traveler coming to see a show but what I have had I liked very much.

An Awful Evening at Limelight My boyfriend and I had tickets for a play and wanted to have a drink and a few appetizers before the 7:30pm show time. We arrived at 6pm and asked to sit on the patio. We were told that it would be a 10 -15 min wait. We went to the small bar outside and ordered a drink and patiently waited for a table. 10 min, 15 min ticked by as we stared at the 8 open tables on the patio. Finally after 20 min my boyfriend went back inside to inquire and the hostess said she was just coming to seat us. We were seated and given menus and glasses of water and then we waited again... Eventually after 15 min without any acknowledgment I flagged down the hostess to ask what the likelihood might be of us getting to order drinks and food before our show. She said she would send a server over right away. We contemplated leaving and heading over to The Corner Office - they have great food and are very accommodating when it comes to making a show on time. Another 10 min passed by and finally a server came to take our order. We ordered 2 Cold Snap cocktails, wedge salad, pork sliders, tuna tartar, and truffle fries. About 10 min later we got our drinks and they were delicious! 10 min later the fries were delivered and although they had a good flavor they were extremely salty and we could not finish them. A few min after the fries came we received bread and butter that we thought should have arrived before our food. About 10 min later we received the tuna and pork sliders. The majority of the pork on one of the sliders was all fat and inedible not to mention that there was no sauce for the bun which was much larger than the small portion of pork. The tuna was lack luster and the accompanying avocado sauce was tasteless. My salad never came and at 7:10pm we flagged down the waitress for our tab. She never asked how are food was which I found strange since there was a lot of it left on the plates that was inedible. She brought us the bill and we asked her to run our credit card. When she returned the bill was $12 more because she had forgotten to add one of our drinks and rather than explain this error she pointed out that she had given us a friends & family discount of 10%. All in all I would say the service was dismal, the food was just mediocre, but the drinks were fabulous. We made it to the box office by 7:20pm only to find out that we had come on the wrong night! Next weekend when we come to see the show we definitely will not be dining at Limelight if ever again!!! but I might be tempted to have a cocktail.

Not impressed, $12 for Mac and cheese that looked like a plate of macaroni with cheese sprinkled on it. $4 to add about 1 oz of tasteless chicken.

Service is slow - food is fair, decor is a cross between a village inn and a motel restaurant, coat check is a rolling rack with a sign taped to it. Overpriced for limited menu selection - my filet was a sirloin ...... Brown lettuce in the salad. This was our first and last visit.

Stopped by for a drink and a quick bite before going to see a show at the Buell Theater just across from it. Great atmosphere, very "cool". We sat at the bar, and the bartenders were both attentive and very friendly. We tried the Mahi Mahi Ceviche and Boneless Wings small plates. Both were absolutely delicious, but when they say small plates....they mean it. There's not a lot of food on there, so don't think you're going to fill up on just one or two. While we were eating we noticed a bottle of some sort of infusion behind the counter and asked about it. It's a spiced whiskey (with oranges, cloves, cinnamon and vanilla). My husband is a whiskey lover so we got a glass to try. I am not usually a whiskey lover, but even I liked this one, and the smell was incredible. I highly recommend you give it a try. I would definitely stop back by here before a show again. Great little spot.

I used to love to come here before going to a show! The past 2 years, though, everything has REALLY tumbled downhill. Service is unbelievably slow, portions have shrunk, soup has been watered down....just consistently disappoints. There are never enough staffers on duty, even on a Friday or Saturday evening. Do not plan to return---I've given it several tries the past 2 years, & it just keeps getting even worse.

Went to the nutcracker with the family and stopped in for a drink. We were are party of 6 and were refused sevice. We asked for two smaller tables and still would not be seated. The place was half empty, we asked for the manager and her said they would not seat us so we left. Would rcommend going nearby to somewhere that is not rude and is interested in doing business.

Limelight is a place we didn't plan on going, but ended up going to. Basically a traffic jam, limited time before a show and 2 starving people lead us to the place directly across from the Temple Buell. Their pre-theatre lunch menu for matinees has maybe a dozen items on it (including appetizers, soups, salads and entrees). While the limited menu was a little disappointing it was nice that our waitress asked if we were going to the show and knew we had limited time and therefore needed expedited service. We went easy: cheese burger (Swiss) and fries. They brought out bread before the meal which had a good flavor, if not a bit hard. The burgers came out quickly and they were nice big hand formed patties practically encased in cheese with a big pile of fries. I have to say my the burger was mighty tasty and the fries were crisp and salty. Not to mention it was pretty cheap for a Kevin Taylor restaurant and has a terrific location. Perfect for people watching before or after a show. I think the dinner menu is more extensive (steaks, lamb, etc...). Plus they have a big bar area if you want to pop in to get a pre/post drink. I would definitely do Limelight again. It was a pleasant surprise.

I wrote a fairly negative review of Limelight awhile back but, for some reason, Yelp has deleted my review. I'd hoped to review it before posting about Limelight again. Anyway, in that previous review I'd mentioned that we'd had a very bad service experience and probably would never return. Well......we did return and we were delighted with Limelight. Our waitperson, Trista Z., was wonderful. We had a chat with her at the start about our needs and expectations and she met every one of those with grace, charm, and good cheer. The food was excellent and served just as we'd asked by the food runners. They, too, were a cheerful lot. My wife had the scallops and I had a very nice filet mignon. Martinis were spot-on superb. Our very excellent experience was doubly surprising because Limelight was absolutely packed on Friday evening, 11/7/14, with pre-show diners, including us. Now, we're glad we gave Limelight another go because it seems to have returned to its previously wonderful service levels. The cuisine has always been good, in our view. By the way, for you hipsters out there, Limelight was FULL of grandmas and grandpas (just like my wife and I), so perhaps Limelight won't be for you (if you don't like old folks).

I really want to like it here and yes I keep going back as it is close to the theater and oh so convenient but I just can't get past the service or tiny portions for big prices. Was running late due to an accident on Speer but half of our table was already seated and ordering and spending $$$ so did not appreciate when we were admonished for being tardy. I felt at any moment we were going to be called into the Principal's office. After we gave our mea culpa we ordered some drinks which took a good 10 plus minutes to come and which mine was missing. Another 15 mins passed and our waitress came back saying she was slammed and were we ready to place an order - yes was our answer as we were starving, I was thirsty and time was a ticking! We started placing our orders and in conversation I mentioned to my sister that I would share a ravioli with her and I was immediately told we were going to be charged a plate sharing fee! She had ordered her own app but we were still going to be charged $5 and the waitress made it clear that was happening so what could I do at that point? Nada. There really was no point so I just prepared myself to bite it on the check. The ravioli was sweet potato and tasty but we were each given 4 tiny bits and told it was a larger order since it was a split order - I would hate to see the reg order - def not worth $26! The 4 of us were however having a nice time so I had to let it roll and still left 20 percent in spite of being scolded and given poor service. I chalked it up to maybe she was having a bad day.
PROS: Very convenient to the theater Attractive design & decor CONS: IMHO the food is not on the level of other Kevin Taylor restaurants. The limelight is literally across the sidewalk from the Buell theater which makes it very convenient for a pre-theater dinner. The ambiance is a light contemporary feel and the menu is fairly straight forward meat, seafood and poultry. We have always had friendly service but something is just amiss with the whole experience. The Kurobuta Pork Chop is really great but most of the menu is just okay for the price point. I think since this restaurant serves as first stop for the evening it has a feeling of hurry-up and get you served and out the door which makes it feel more like a lunch rush than an elegant evening for dinner. Maybe I should try dinner on its own to see if it is just me or the fact that dinner is just a prequel to the show. Anyway, I would opt elsewhere with all the great downtown dinner options available.

I went there with a large group prior to seeing Memphis at the Buell. The atmosphere there is too sterile for me,I like places that have some character. The service was good but I was with a large group with a private room so we had our own servers. The salad was lettuce with pear slices, just okay. The beef tenderloin was good, cooked just right ( medium rare ), the serving size was small. The bill was covered by the company that invited my date so I can't complain about cost. I saw the menu prices online and I wouldn't put out that amount of money for this food. I wouldn't go there on my dime and would be hesitant in any circumstance.

We came on a Saturday recently on a last minute gambit due to rush hour and our commute to downtown taking an extra 45 minutes. We still had an hour before the show so we figured it was plenty of time to eat since we could literally walk 10 feet to get at the Temple Buell's front door. The service was fairly quick and painless and the waitress came over every time we needed her. I'm knocking 1 star off for the fact that lunch menu was very limited (literally seemed like there were only a dozen things to choose from), but I got the cheeseburger with bacon and fries and it tasted spectacular. Lunch was also fairly cheap ($25 for 2 people), altho their dinner menu looked insanely expensive. I think I'll definitely come back!

Great food, good service, beautiful restaurant, and it's right across the walkway from the Ellie and the Buell. I had dinner with a group last night before seeing Green Day's American Idiot at the Buell. We arrived about 15 minutes early to find our table ready and waiting. After a bit of a slow start with drinks, we were on our way. Orders were taken, appetizers and entrees were brought out evenly, and there was event time for dessert for those who really wanted to indulge before the show. On a side note, I definitely recommend the roasted chicken. It was outstanding, and the potion is huge (I just finished having the leftovers for lunch). The service was professional and friendly, and you definitely can't find a better location if you're seeing a show at the DCPA.

I went to Limelight again last night with my previous review in my mind. I felt I might have been a little harsh, considering when I walked past the restaurant I was pleasantly happy with the design aesthetic. I sat at the bar again, and the poor bartender Eric got slammed within minutes. I imagine it was due to the the Denver Theater not opening their doors until 6:30 and all the early birds looking for a way to get out of the cold. It took a bit to even order, which in this case was fine since I was waiting for my friend before I ordered. Once we were served, I was decently happy with my salad, but at $9 for a few leaves of lettuce, a 1/4 of an apple, a bit of cheese and a tablespoon of nuts, they must be making a huge profit on this. My friend got the crab cake appetizer and it was one hockey puck sized crab cake with a leaf of cilantro, a wedge of lemon, and some sauce on the side. I'm not sure if she liked it or not, but she ate it all. I'm still torn I guess. It seems like they want to be higher end with these prices, but the food just isn't there for me. And obviously it's hard when the one server for 10 people gets slammed, but as a server in my previous life, if this happens all the time it should be something you get used to and not act like it's something difficult to handle. If it is something difficult to handle, perhaps don't work behind the bar on opening night at the theater. The decor is nice, and themed, and it works well. I was harsh on that last time, but this time I liked it more. Either way, it's not a bad place to kill some time prior to going into the theater.

We wanted to try a new restaurant before our show. Dinner was a huge disappointment. Food was marginal. We received over cooked salmon, the gnocchi is doughy with no sauce, flavors with the scallops are odd and over powering. Butternut squash soup is delicious. Our server was very nice and gave a wonderful wine suggestion. Will not dine here again by choice.

(3)Ben W.

(4)Floyd R.

(2)Eden R.
(1)Tara L.

(4)Aaron B.
(3)Elizabeth L.
The only reason I am giving this two stars is because it was fast and the service was good. The food was terrible and overpriced - overpriced to the point I felt more than ripped off. If you are going to the theater, make sure to leave time to go someplace good.
(2)Gabriel A.

Amazing food and an amazing chef. New different flavors. Quick & friendly staff. Lamb and scallops were cooked to perfection. Amazing dessert as well. Great wine selection. I can't wait to eat there again. Yum!

(5)Seth J.
We felt like we were having dinner at an old folks home! Not really our crowd. Decor is very flat too. Nothing outstanding about this place, but at least it's close to all the theater action. Can't beat the location if you're trying to grab a quick bite before a show!
(2)Peter M.
Limelight sits in the heart of the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, and offers the patrons a classy place to grab a bite and a cocktail before heading into or out of a show. The facilities are clean and the staff energetic, pleasant, and professional.

Bit of a slow start For the food , but once we got our food we were very happy, tasted fantastic ! I had the scallops my wife had the salmon both of the dishes we loved Service is a little slow But well worth it

Kurobuta pork chops. In and out in less than an hour. Extensive spirits list. Friendly service. To-go wine to take to the theater lounge.

Great food. Wait staff was very attentive and friendly. Definitely will go again. Perfect place to stop in before going to the theater. Yes, the price for the food was slightly on the higher end but so was the quality of the meal.

(4)Nancy F.

(2)Melissa R.

(5)Jen W.

I hovered between 2 and 3 stars for Limelight, but decided to go with 3 because my sister really liked her meal and she was the birthday girl, so that's all that mattered. We went into Limelight just yesterday after seeing La Cage a Folle (hysterical, btw), and were seated relatively quickly. The place was rather empty and the two people behind the hostess podium didn't really seem to care too much that we were there or had a reservation. We were seated by the window and it took a little longer than average for our server to come over. My sister ordered a glass of wine and I ordered The Secret Garden (cucumber infused vodka, lavender syrup and a few other goodies.) Unfortunately when the waitress came back with the wine I was told they were out of the Secret Garden - not sure which exact ingredient they were out of, but it made me wonder if it was all pre-made. No real worries though - I ordered a blueberry/lemon martini and it was passable. For starters my sister ordered the sweet corn chowder with coconut milk and cilantro - I didn't sample, but she said it was really good. I opted for the poached pear salad, spinach, goat cheese, toasted Walnuts, and red wine vinaigrette. The pears tasted nothing like pears - just sweet gobs of pear-shaped fruit, and the goat cheese and walnuts were pretty sparse. Lots of spinach, good amount of dressing, but honestly it just didn't look "fresh." Like it had been premade and someone just took it out of the fridge and removed the saran wrap. Definitely "meh" on the salad. For entrees my sister got the filet, with a mushroom fricassee, and béarnaise. She totally enjoyed it (again, that was the important part.) I got the ribeye, with fingerling potatoes, haricot verts, and mustard demi-glace. I ordered it medium and literally the left side of the steak was uber-rare, the middle was medium and the right side was bordering on medium well. I have no idea how you do that to a steak! The steak was large, but even for a ribeye it had way more fat than I was accustomed to. And there was absolutely NO hint of mustard in the demi-glace. Location-wise, Limelight is great. The prices weren't too outrageous, and like I said my sister enjoyed her meal thoroughly. But next time I'll check out a different venue pre- or post-show.

(3)Terry G.
(2)Jason J.
(4)Stacy P.
