Enjoyed our meal here! Wednesdays are half price wine bottles, so we took advantage of that. We got 6 plates off the menu to share: - Sweet potato fries/plaintain chips were an okay start to the meal for nibbling. The sweet potato fries weren't very crisp, but the lime crema that came with them was quite yummy - Braised beef gorditas were completely delicious, and next time will definitely order more! They were a good combo of textures and flavors - loved the habanero salsa. - Pumpkin soup had great flavor, but it was more on the thin side (a true soup instead of a puree like I was expecting). Would have been nice to have a larger portion for the price. - Tropical salad was a great blend of jicama, orange, apple, greens, and mint. Again, great combo of flavors and textures! - Skirt steak and chimichurri was cooked perfectly (it is hard to get a skirt steak perfect med rare, but this was spot on). The fries were nice and crispy, but the chimi was red and not green, and had too much worcestershire sauce, making it reminiscent of A1 sauce. - Slow roasted pork belly was a standout! Crispy, fatty pork belly was served with whipped, spiced sweet potatoes, pineapple sauce, and some of the habanero salsa that I enjoyed with the gorditas. - Dessert was a trio of creme brulee: coconut, mocha, and vanilla bean. Although the interior of the custard was cold, the flavors were great. If I had to pick, mocha was my favorite, followed closely by coconut. I don't think this restaurant is particularly expensive, but they could probably do a better job of indicating on the menu the smaller plates vs. larger plates to serve those with larger appetites a bit more. Our meal plus a bottle of wine (less tip) was about $110 (if we didn't get the wine, the meal would have been just over $60), which I think is completely reasonable for the amount of food we got. We were full, but not uncomfortable. They also have a nice patio, which would be perfect in the summer for happy hour! We'll be back.

Limon has been consistantly good and I love the personable and friendly service and best of all the food is excellent. Everytime I went it was either on a Friday or Saturday evening, which happens to be very busy. Dispite the wait, Limon has a nice lounge/waiting area where the bartender greeted us and took our drink order. Their cocktails are all awesome (yes, I've tried them all), my favorites are the Pisco Sours and the Caipirinhanas. Their mojitos are also very good. Everything on the menu is done just right. My favorite dishes is the tuna tartare with plaintain chips, calamari, ceviches, and their lamb and beef dishes in any form are excellent. The atmosphere inside is very comfortable, cozy without feeling pretensious. In the summer their outdoor patio is great place to be. I'm also disappointed about the other reviews here on Yelp. I have been here a number of times and never was disappointed -- they should give Limon another chance, because they don't know what they are missing. There are not many Peruvian restauants in Denver, and I'm glad that Limon is here in the Uptown neighborhood.

So this is just based on drinks. Stumbled in on a "busy night". They were really short staffed with 2 waiters and no one at the bar. Got the white sangria and my friend for the margarita. Sangria was ok, didn't taste mixed enough, I could taste each liquor as I sipped more. Everyone else seemed to be having a good time so I'm sure I'll give it another shot to try some of their food.

I cant figure out why they call this a Peruvian restaurant when they have food from all over South America?! Came here on a Thursday night and the patio was full but we scored a 2 seater table in the corner inside. The service was a little slow but our waiter answered every question we had and was spot on with the wine descriptions. My date got the Skirt Steak and Chimichurri (Argentina) with fries and I got the Crispy Chile Rellenos (Ecuador). The waiter claimed that if they weren't the best chiles rellenos I have ever had then he would refund my money. Well to be honest I have never had them stuffed with black beans, corn and plantains so its kinda hard to compare, ha! Also I have traveled extensively around Ecuador and don't remember them being made like that however they were pretty darn tasty so who cares :o) Its a pity they don't have south american pricing tho apart from that the whole dining experience was ok. For desert we shared the Spiced chocolate crusted Cheesecake (Chile) but it wasn't anything special.

So we have been wanting to try this for quite some time, we drive by it daily!!!! So we did finally get in there, the waitress was not really what I would call friendly, she came up after we had been sitting for 10mins or so and said have you been helped, when we let her know that we had not she said well I guess I can help you. It was odd.. But the cebiches were great $5 for Happy Hour!!!! Wow, the Wine list looked great too. So overall I think we may go back and hope the service gets better.

Went there for brunch on the second Sunday since they started serving brunch. I have to say that I was really pleased with my food, and I had been a little worried after reading some of the other review on here! I had the Bananas Foster Sopes, with caramelized bananas, candied walnuts, whipped cream and chocolate and caramel drizzle. It was totally dessert for breakfast, but damn was it good. My other half had the Crispy Chile Rellenos, and they were stuffed with corn, cojita cheese, and black beans. We also really enjoyed them. We have a groupon to use for dinner, so we will be going back, and I'll update more then.

A neat little place. They aren't Mexican, they aren't Cuban, they're a little of everything. Their menu lists a variety of Latin American dishes, each one with the region that inspired the dish, which is a neat touch. The food's a tad on the pricey side, but it definitely has a touch of fine-dining flair to it. If you're in the mood for Latin American food but don't exactly know if you're feeling like Mexican or Cuban or Brazilian or Columbian, Limon is a great place to go. Protip: they have an entree-size sampler which has 4 different small plate dishes in it, each from a different country. It's a great way to try different things out, but it's not officially on the menu, so you have to ask for it.

I have had a hard time penning this review, simply because I had good service and we enjoyed our meal. I have been here once before and enjoyed the drinks, although I thought food was ok. We purchased a Living Social deal and decided to redeem it on my birthday. We arrived in time for Happy Hour and ordered our mojitos, which are good. We sat outside on the patio and ended up ordering 3 mojitos each. The mojitos with house-infused pineapple rum is especially delish. We ordered appetizers of yucca and plaintain chips with limon salsa, which was good and we demolished it. Service was a little slow while waiting for our entrees, especially since it was a Friday night, but the restaurant was not crowded. For our entrees, we ordered mahi y bunuelo and the carne al cerdo. Our food was really delicious, although I feel the prices are too expensive for the portions. Although I have to say I am not one who likes to receive huge portions of food, it just felt that the menu was a tad expensive. However, with that said, since we had the LivingSocial coupon, we thought the price would be doable with $30 off the food, but not happy hour drinks, which was understandable. Although I enjoyed the food, this is not the type of place that makes me think I can't wait to come back. Now, this is not a rant, but I was extremely displeased that I provided my server with the LivingSocial deal (from my iPhone app) and then marked it as used. When the server brought out the bill, it did not include the $30 off. We paid $92 for our meal, which also included dessert (creme brulee). We left and while on our way home we discussed that it didn't seem like the deal saved us anyhting and then realized when we got home that the deal wasn't applied. We called the manager and based on our total, he agreed that we weren't given the discount. After discussing our options, we agreed on a refund of the $30. I came back 3 days later and now the manager and the server have a different story, where the server presents me a copy of the revised bill with the $30 deducted from the bill; however, she never gave us that bill. I disputed it with the manager and the server, but as we paid cash, we were basically screwed and the server got a nice fat tip. She received a total of $115 for our total bill, which if we had the revised bill, she would have received a nice tip, but surely not an additional $35??? What's done is done, but I am not happy with this manager nor server. I think the establishment lacks integrity and this server has no honesty. I certainly would not recommend this business to anyone based on how they do business. I'm very disappointed with Limon. It put a huge damper on my birthday celebration to feel that I was cheated out of a discount that I paid to use.

I too went here with a Groupon. The food was decent, but the portion sizes were very small. Way too expensive for pretty unmemorable flavors. I won't be back. I would suggest going to Bar Next Door to get the Red Snapper tacos for $2 (which are the same ones served at Limon for $9). Disappointed since I really like the Limon in San Francisco (I was deceived by the name - this one has a different owner).

This was the worst restaurant experience I've had in a very, very long time. We were the only people in the restaurant at 7 pm and it took the server 20 minutes to bring us wine after placing our order. She brought me the wrong wine - twice - and didn't apologize or offer to bring me the correct wine (I ordered a sparkly wine and I was served a wine that wasn't and had never been sparkly). At the busiest, there were 4 other tables with customers in the entire dining room and the service we received was really underwhelming. Our water glasses weren't refilled for the last 1.5-2 hours we were there (more on that below) and we had to go to the bar to ask for the check because the server just never came back to our table after serving our entrees (she was hanging out at the bar and serving other tables, so it's not like she left for a break). The food was just OK. The plantain chips on the appetizer menu were way over cooked and were like shoe leather and the entree portions were a little on the small side, but the fish tacos were pretty good. Still, there are several other places I'd choose in Denver any day over Limon when it comes to food, especially for that price range. Overall, I'd give them 2 stars for food. And then came the real kicker. My friend had a Living Social deal that she wanted to use on our meal. Because we had ordered appetizers and wine, they would not let us use the deal because it was "Girls Night Out" (wine by the glass and appetizers were 1/2 off). What did they do? They tried to charge us full price AND refused to honor the Living Social deal. It took over 90 minutes to sort out the bill and we still weren't able to use the deal we'd purchased. The server and the "manager" were both VERY rude during this entire process and I have never been treated so poorly in a restaurant in my entire life. Limon offers a standing "theme" each night of the week - Tues is Girls Night Out, Wed is Happy Hour all night, etc. The Living Social deal is only valid Tues-Friday, which is when they always have their theme nights (this is NOT listed in the Exclusions of the deal) and you can't use your deal if there is any other "promotion" going on in the restaurant. Basically they've made it so you can never use your deal after you've purchased it. Genius! We were there for over 3 hours, and it was a very frustrating 3 hours. Not our idea of a fun night out, by any means. We've had Living Social (they have GREAT customer service, by the way) refund our deal purchase because we won't ever be going back!

I have to go with a so-so rating for Limon. Having had authentic Lomo Saltado, their version was a bit weak and lacking flavor. Claiming to be "Denver's eclectic Peruvian lounge", I think it falls a bit short. Leave Peruvian our of your description. More accurate would be a general South American lounge. The menu is full of South American dishes and what we had was OK, but I don't think I'd go above a 2-star rating. Needs more flavor. The staff was friendly, but could be a little more attentive.

Yikes! I had no idea so many people disliked this place! I went to the restaurant a long time ago before it even had its grand opening and there was a lot of chaos because they were trying to get their menu down and train their waitstaff. But I did like the food so I decided to go back last week to give it another go. Before I start, I should state that I lived in Peru for about 8 months, so I am pretty familiar with the flavor and recipes of typical cuisine. We went on a Tuesday and got a seat on the patio. I immediately ordered a Pisco Sour (which are 1/2 price on Tuesdays!), the traditional drink of Peru. It was super strong and yummy. It's a different tasting drink, but they've really nailed the flavor, though the consistency could be a little thicker. We orders the Sea Bass Ceviche to start, and it was pretty good, but I didn't really like the way they cut the fish (I like small cubes, theirs were sort of mini fillets), but the spices were pretty good. I had the Atun con Tacu Tacu and he had the Quinotta con Hongos and both were pretty darn good. The service was at a good pace, but not too fast for the type of restaurant that Limon is. I never felt rushed, but the food didn't take too long and our server was very pleasant. The real reason everyone in the world should go to this restaurant is the Lucuma Ice Cream. Lucuma is a fruit that is pretty much only grown in Peru and, I think Chile. It has a sweet nutty flavor and a slightly gritty texture. It is the most glorious fruit ever. Ever. These guys import the fruit from Peru and have it made into fresh ice cream by a local ice cream place (Liks or something like that). But it is the only place in town that has this flavor. Go and order it. If you don't reach sweets nirvana, then I don't know what is wrong with you. Overall the food is very good, but I would like to make an emphatic statement that, with the exception of a few dishes (pisco sour and lucuma ice cream), this is NOT an accurate representation of Peruvian food. This is a white guy's attempt at Peruvian fusion food. And that is what slightly irks me about this place. While the food is good, traditional Peruvian food is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better. The fact that that try and pass themselves off as authentic Peruvian cuisine bothers me. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't go. The food is great, the service is good and the Lucuma ice cream is heavenly.

I brought a large group (16) for a birthday party, on a weeknight with a reservation a week in advance. The food was fine, but the service was terrible. We ended the meal with 16 empty water glasses because there wasn't enough staff to get our food out, much less offer us water. When the check came, we were told we couldn't have it split, and apparently it said this on the menu. When I suggested it would have been nice to mention that when I made the reservation or when we arrived, the manager became really confrontational. I expected Limon to be happy with so much business on a quiet weeknight, but the manager treated us like she didn't want us there. I'm happy to oblige.

Last night was my first time at Limon. I discovered that it is under new ownership and the owner was our server. We had a wonderful experience. I had the empanadas and I have to be honest and say that I was hesitant to order them because I've never had an good empanada. I was very pleasantly surprised. They were wonderful. We also ordered the Sea Bass which was delicious. Cooked perfectly and very tasty. Cristina made the comment that the preparations and flavors of our dishes were like "down home" peruvian and she's right. Delicious and beautiful but not overreaching. So often restaurants try too hard and in the process ruin the food. Not the case at Limon. Oh and the margaritas are terrific as well!!! Cristina's had a dash of cinnamon - something I've never encountered and while I prefer traditional it was really good.

I went to Limon for my first time last week. We showed up around 8:30 with no reservation, but only ended up waiting about 30 minutes for a table (the place was packed!)...not too shabby. Right from the get-go, the service from everyone we interacted with was really great! We ordered a few of their specialty cocktails (Sangria and Tortuga) and the garlic and curry prawns to start. Yum! We ended up ordering several items off of the small plates menu to share, all seafood items. Everything was very delicious, though my favorite was the red snapper tacos. My god those were good! We rounded out the meal with one more set of specialty cocktails: Ron-Yki-On and the Pisco Sour - awesome! The pisco sour was the most unusual drink I've had in a long time but I highly recommend it if you're into unique cocktails. We, too, used a groupon...but I'd definitely go back again without one! The ambiance was warm, friendly, and cozy...and it made for a great date night!

I was really looking forward to trying Limon. I'd heard some good thinking about it, although, I probably should have checked here on Yelp first. I started with their signature drink, the Pisco Sour, on the advice of someone who knows South American cuisine well, (Thanks CB!) We ordered the plantain and yucca chips as an appetizer - which we good, with the exception of the sauces they served with the chips. My friends and I wanted a salad before dinner, so our waiter asked the chef to make "house salads" for us -- they don't have anything like that on the menu -- and honestly, this was the best part of the meal. Mixed greens, red onions, beets and olives tossed in a cilantro vinaigrette. We were impressed that the chef just whipped that up. I had the paella and my friends both had the tuna. Both meals were OK. Not offensive but not terribly memorable. Maybe my expectations were too high; nevertheless, it's not a favorite and I probably won't return.

Do NOT go here with a coupon or deal!!!! As with other reviews, they do not do well with coupon deals. Very bad experience, but the food was good. Unfortunately, I probably won't go here again.
So me and my boyfriend went to Limon last night to use our Groupon. It was about 8pm and we sat out on the patio because it was a gorgeous night. We were the only ones out there the entire time which made it very romantic. Our server Lisa was very nice and friendly and very attentive. We started with an appetizer: "Conchas a la parmesana" which is baked scallops with parmesan cheese. It was very tasty. We then had the "Mango verde y langostinos cebiche" which was just awesome. The right amount of sweet and sour with a bit of spiciness. Prawns were a bit scarce but the flavor was excellent. Our entree was "Seco de cordero" (lamb stew) which we shared. The lamb was very tender and flavorful. The stew had an interesting, but delicious taste that I couldn't quite put my finger on. I'd definitely order it again. We shared a bottle of red wine. I don't remember the name but it was a medium bodied wine full of flavor. For desert, we shared the cheesecake which was the perfect ending to our romantic meal. It was creamy and very fresh. I really enjoyed Limon and will visit again.

Last night I had the worst dining experience at Limon. I invited 3 girl friends to dinner on my LivingSocial coupon. What a mistake! The dinner coupon can only be used on Tuesday - Sunday (5pm to 10pm). I advise that you don't go with a coupon on Tuesdays (Girls' Night Out), Wednesdays (HH All Night), or on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of a month (Date Night). The LivingSocial coupon cannot be used in combination with the events or "promotions" on these nights. Unfortunately, this was communicated very untactfully and unprofessionally last night. I presented the coupon before we ordered. It wasn't until we had consumed over $100 of wine and appetizers that I found out I couldn't use the coupon in combination with the Girls' Night Out 1/2-off pricing on wine and apps. The server took my coupon and said she would see what she could do. There was a lot of confusion about splitting the bill (it was split 2 ways across 4 people for whatever reason), and a lot of miscommunicaton about how the the coupon would be applied (at first it was stated that it would come off one of the 2 bills, but then it didn't, and then it couldn't). The staff wasn't proactive about explaining how they were ringing up bill. They'd disappear with the credit cards and come back with little explanation for the charges, which seemed to come out wrong over and over again (based on the Girls' Night Out event pricing, or the application of LivingSocial coupon). During this 90-minute time period, customer service was not good. The staff had trouble looking me in the eye and explaining what was going on, which was uncomfortable. In the end, I paid the entire tab, was unable to use my LivingSocial coupon, and was mortally embarrassed to my friends for putting them through the experience. The next day, the GM called me to find out what went wrong. (He had my phone number from the reservation email I had sent.) I explained the situation, and how I've never come across such a misunderstanding with a Groupon or LivingSocial coupon before--and I've used dozens at restaurants around town. I recommended that the verbiage in "the fine print" could be more explicit about how the coupon could not be used in combination with the calendar of events, promotions, offers, or whatever else. I appreciated his proactive call. It was the right thing to do. Thank goodness LivingSocial granted me a refund on on my unusable coupon. I don't see myself returning to this restaurant for a long time, if ever.

Limon: what happens when you don't make a reservation at Parallel Seventeen on Friday Night. Starved, we stumbled over to Limon two doors down. I kept saying, "I don't like Limon" but I couldn't remember exactly why. The server was... weird. Made a bunch of blunders, and just stared at us all night, except for the 10 minutes after our entrees were delivered, when I couldn't find him to complain that the Mahi was WAY overcooked. Starved, I ate it, and kept my mouth shut. The sauce Charon was delicious, thankfully. Right at 9, their new "jazz club" next door cranked up the music, and our quiet dinner was over. It's meh at best, won't be back.

Happy Hour 5-7pm, all night Wednesdays. $5 Cebiches and Mixturas, $3 Drafts, $4 Mojitos or Margaritas, $5 Wine This was my first experience with Limon and first time eating Peruvian food. I have to say this place was really nice, very upscale vibe. I love trying new types of food and culture so this was a treat for me. There were not very many people in the restaurant, but I'm guessing it's usually a lot busier. The service was great, being my first time trying Peruvian food I had a lot of questions and the server was very friendly and helpful. Drinks Great selection of drinks for happy hour. I think they had 4 beers on draft - all excellent beers! I got a Deschutes Amber that was very tasty. My friend ordered a Mojito, which she seemed to really enjoy. They have a large wine list and if wine is your thing you should go on a Monday when all bottles are 50% off. Food I wasn't really sure what I was exactly ordering, but I was feeling adventurous. We split two items off the happy hour menu: Atun tartar y Tabule de cereals andinos (Ahi tuna tar-tar, Andean grain salad with avocado mousse, plantain chips) and Yucca and Plantain chips with Limon salsa. The Tuna Tar-Tar was different than anything I've ever eaten before. It was a mound of packed grains with sushi-grade tuna and a creamy sauce on top. It was delicious and the presentation was beautiful! The Yucca and Plantain chips would be the equivalent to chips and salsa, but very different. The salsa was chunky, not really a sauce at all, but more of a solid. You get two types of chips (Yucca and plantain), both very tasteful and unique. I would definitely recommend Limon's Happy Hour when you're feeling adventurous and up for something a little different. My guess is you will love it and be back again.

OK, so I purchased a groupon for Limon and decided to try this place thinking I had nothing to lose if it was less that good. I made a reservation for 630 and when we arrived we were promptly seated and given menus to look over. After 12 mins I knew the menu by heart because no one came to our table. We were not offered drinks or asked if we had any questions about the menu, but then again why would they since we had studied it and knew it by heart by then! After 12 mins and making eye contact with 2 employees, still no luck, so we left. I can't tell you about the food, but I can tell you to check out my review for Caminito Tango, the place we ended up and were glad we did!!!!

We had high hopes for the Colombian dishes, having spent time in Colombia- and were sorely disappointed. LIMON has such a great concept- South American dishes and cocktails- but if you can't do it well, then don't do it.

I kinda dig this little joint! The service has never lacked...although I have never been there on a busy night. Only having tried shrimp ceviche in the past, I was excited to try their traditional ceviche...which featured seabass. It was really good with a strong citrus flavor. The main courses were selected from our servers recommendations...my brother chose the crispy chile rellenos (which is always my choice at any latin restaurant...dang it, I had to pick something else!) and I had the skirt steak with chimichuri sauce. The steak was a little tough (which, according to my brother, is pretty typical of that cut) but had nice flavor...and the chimichuri sauce was awesome. But, I probably won't order it again...because the relleno had me at hello! It was stuffed with cheese, black beans and corn...and on top was a green banana pancake (the server said that they normally use plantains, but the green bananas are a nice alternate). Jealous...I totally should have ordered the rellenos! I noticed they have GNO on Tuesday nights...which offers half price glasses of wine and appetizers to the ladies. So, a few weeks later, I grabbed one of my favorite gal pals and we headed to Limon after a long day at work. We hashed out our work frustrations over some ceviche, calamari, empanadas and red wine. The calamari was delicious. It had a nice spice to it, but was also coated in sweet coconut. I wasn't too keen on the empanadas...they were a little dry and salty. Not going to stop me from stopping by to try more appetizers...and digging my teeth into some rellenos!

I feel like I need to give this place some credit.. the reviewsI read were quite opposite of what I experienced. We stopped in on a Friday night just looking for desert and coffee (D bar was packed and full of D bags..). Our service was outstanding. We were seated outside on a perfect evening, prompt delivery of our two coffee drinks, the cheesecake was fantastic, our server was very attentive even though we were only ordering desert. Additionally, this older couple was sitting next to us celebrating an anniversary and the chef came out to see how their meal was, and even brought some free desert. I really liked this atmosphere, so when I go back to try the food I'll update this post, but it is definitely a place that has started out on the right foot. First impressions are huge, and this place has me sold already.

I enjoyed Limon, but I can see why some might not. It is a quaint dining spot, perfect for couples on a night out, offering attractive low-lighting and close tables. The food is good. My date and I stuck to seafood which I found to be superb. The rice was appropriately seasoned as well to create a satisfying complement. This was my first exposure to "cebiches" - a Peruvian appetizer type dish wish very lightly cooked meats. I wasn't too impressed with this portion of the meal. Price wise it was about what I expected. I dropped $85 (with tip) on two entrees, an appetizer, a dessert, one coffee, and one mixed drink. Limon is strikingly similar to The Ninth Door in LoDo. DO NOT GO HERE. This restaurant is complete garbage. Avoid at all costs. The wife and I set out to try a new spot and we chose this place because it looked unique, and had a nice ambiance. We were severely disappointed. First we ordered the "Prawns" off the menu as an app. They brought us out 6 minuscule shrimp which were flavorless and completely overcooked. The fact that they advertise prawns and serve tiny frozen shrimp should have made us walk out and leave on the spot, but unfortunately we stayed for dinner. I had the skirt steak, which was a chewy (and cold) piece of meat served with french fries. Not fancy frites, or something like that, just basic McDonalds french fries. My wife had the sea bass. It was also served cold, and uncooked. Not undercooked, but uncooked. Plus it was unseasoned, and disgusting. Not only would I consider this basic, bad steakhouse food, but the portions were tiny, and the bill was outrageous. $75 for the food, and 1 drink each. They advertise fine dining, they deliver school lunch food. I don't write reviews for restaurants because everyone's tastes are different and someone may like something I do not. But this place is so universally bad that I want to help keep everyone away. If you're looking for similar pricing in Denver, and want a good meal, try Root Down, Steubens, Duo, Lola's...........Man I'd recommend Applebees before I'd recommend this disaster. STAY AWAY FROM THIS RESTAURANT.

So my wife and I were in Denver for the weekend looking for housing, and I know the chef (so he says, but he was waiting tables when I was there) so despite the reviews (I never go to a restaurant with less than 3 1/2 stars on Yelp since they usually are a waste of money) I decided to go to support an old friend. Well I thought he was a friend. I figured out that the only reason why he told me he wanted to hang out was to get my wife and I into his restaurant because after we dined I never heard from him after when he was supposed to show us around(just goes to show the values of the staff). I digress, and for fellow Yelpers I assure you this review is not based on my "friend" being an all round jerk. We went for their brunch since we woke up hungry and had plans for Rio Grande later that day. I have never been to Denver before, but after seeing the town for 3 days earlier, I felt that the location of the restaurant was a bit iffy. It looked like it wants to be a high class restaurant in a ghetto neighborhood. It just seems very out of place for the prices on the menu. The interior is nice, but honestly when you go out to eat you are there for the food not the nice wooden chairs or lighting. The menu had a nice assortment of items, but it seemed a bit over priced. I read on the menu that coffee whether it was a cappucino or latte or americano was $4?? I don't even spend that much at Starbucks. My "friend" introduced me and my wife to what appeared to be the owner, but I wasn't sure since he was also waiting tables (which is fine, but I was unsure of his role there). He wasn't very personable and seemed too busy talking with the table next to us who he knew, than to see if we had ever been there before or what might be good on the menu. I had the arepas and chorizo "biscuits and gravy" with potato and poblano hash, and my wife had the yogurt and oatmeal. We also ordered the raisin and sweet potato empanadas, but my "friend" forgot them and never brought them out. Tip: If you don't use a pen and paper to take orders you better have a good memory. The food was just OK. Nothing to write home about. The arepas and chorizo were almost room temperature, not hot so I knew it had been sitting there for a minute, and I couldn't tell where the chorizo came into play. There wasn't any pieces of chorizo in the gravy or on the plate, and I couldn't taste it so I have no clue why it's in the description. The cheese on the arepas had a film on it from sitting there so that's also how I knew it had been waiting for a minute. The potato hash was not seasoned properly and was sort of bland. My wife's yogurt and oatmeal was overpriced and nothing special. Getting a coffee refill was almost impossible, and when we did get a refill my cup was only half full and my wife's wasn't refilled because they had to make more coffee. Its a brunch people?? Why don't you have coffee continually brewing? I didn't even think about getting more water because they were so unorganized running around everywhere. I tried to feign interest in the business for the sake of my "friend", so when the "owner" came around to our table I said that for their first day doing this that they had a good turn out (it was their first day for Brunch). The "owner" evidently thought that I was an idiot and told me that they had been cooking for years. He didn't understand that I was commenting on the fact that their first day doing Brunch they had a good turn out. He sounded very condescending with his response and that was enough to make me never want to come back. They were definitely understaffed as there was just the two of them waiting tables, running food, cleaning tables, and showing guests to their seat. At one point in time I saw a family and the mother was pregnant come in. It took almost 5-10 min for them to be seated when there were plenty of tables open. If I were that husband I would have walked out simply because they made my pregnant wife wait that long to sit down. I felt bad for them because they waited very patiently. This is a poorly managed restaurant. If they aren't properly staffed at 11:00am how is the service during dinner?? We loved Denver and will be moving there in the near future, and I had been warned that Denver's restaraunt scene isn't as developed as Chicago but is growing. This establishment seems to be one of the ones I was warned about. Overpriced, pretentious, and a bad value. I would not recommend this restaurant even if my "friend" hadn't done what he did. It's just not worth spending your hard earned money.

Went for Valentines Day and got a 4 course meal for 2. The food was really unique and tasty, and made for a great date night. Help spread the word about this place, absolutely great food for the value. I recommend the Tamale!

We ended up here on a Monday evening dog walk. Our original plan was to have a drink at St. Mark's/Thin Man, but it was far too boisterous over on that side of 17th for our skittish dog. So we wandered over to Limon because we had noticed it looked really inviting, but only 1 other couple was seated outside on the patio. As we were looking at the menu posted outside, an off-duty server came out to greet us and asked if we had any questions. Since I inquired about beer and she didn't know the list offhand, she brought the bar tender out to answer our questions. They were both super pleasant and eager to host both us and our dog, who we tied to the outside of the fenced in patio area next to our table. They immediately gave her a bowl of water. We ordered an amber beer of some sort and a Mojito - both were super. They came to check on us and chit-chat, but not excessively. Later my boyfriend ordered a dirty martini, which i'm told was "pretty damn good". We didn't order any food, and although the veggie-friendly options were at first glance limited, the bar tender took a moment to go over the menu with me and tell me which items could be revised to suit me. There is plenty to choose from. I will definitely be back for more drinks and food, probably as soon as this weekend.

If I could've given zero stars I would have! My wife and I go out to eat all the time and this is by far THE WORST RESTAURANT we've EVER been to (without a close second)! We really love the 9th door downtown and imagined this place to be somewhat similar with small plates and all...the concept they describe sounds great, but execution is HORRIBLE! Let's start with the service...we walked in on Saturday night at 8PM and there were only 3 other tables seated...should've been our first sign to leave!!! With that being said, the waitress didn't come to greet us for at least 5 minutes, and after glaring around we finally got some service. Throughout our dinner, it was slow, and the waitress flat out lied to our face about the food! The food (which is most important)...I repeat...worst EVER!! We asked the waitress about the calamari, which had a fantastic description on the menu, and she said it was awesome, so we ordered it. Wow...worst calamari ever...small pieces, BURNED to hell, and their definition of making it spicy and "coated" in coconut is to sprinkle red pepper and flavorless coconut flakes on top!!! A 5 year old could make that!!! We should've left then...but we made a mistake of staying! Oh, and when we complained about the calamari, the waitress asked if we want her to bring us MORE??? Is this a joke??? Next item..."ceviche"...notice the quotation marks. We lived on the east coast and had good ceviche, this was a bunch of fish and veggies cut up (way too largely cut) and dumped in vinegar and lime juice!!! This was so acidic both my wife and I had heartburn after two bites!!! NO FLAVOR at all....correction....only the flavor of vinegar and lime juice! HORRIBLE! Yet still...stupid us...we ordered one more thing...fish tacos. Best thing we had, while still HORRIBLE! Way too much vinegar and lime, overpowering anything else on the plate! In summary...biggest waste of 50 bucks ever!!! I'd rather eat at Wendy's next time. If you're ever interested in trying what the worst food you'll ever have tastes like, make your way to Limon immediately!! Otherwise, stay away as far as possible.

We really enjoy Limon. It's close by and we're able to share lots of little appetizer plates. We like the beef sopes and the corn/bean empanadas best, but their ceviche is not bad (thought it's a bit tangy and strange), their plantains are acceptable, and their ham croquettes are ok. Their drinks on the weekend are very good, and you can share pitchers of sangria for very reasonable prices (their drinks during the week are not as good - there is hardly anyone in there and they staff their bar with waiters). Our waiters are always really good, and several of them are very friendly (which I haven't found much of in Denver so far). Although most of their desserts are not good (the chocolate cake was nearly inedibly dry), their creme brulee is spectacular. This place can be pricey if you order their entrees (which we've only done once), but you can have a reasonably priced meal if you share apps, pitchers and desserts. I probably wouldn't drive to come eat there, but if you're in the neighborhood, I would ignore some of the awful reviews (I'm not saying they're not valid - I'm just saying that this place has on nights as well), and try it for yourself like we did.
My second trip to a restaurant called Limon in less than 2 weeks. Granted, the other Limon is in SF, but it's still Peruvian like this one. (Did Peruvian restaurants run out of names? What gives?) We came in here just to get some pisco sours, but it was totally dead at 8pm on a Thursday. I guess that wasn't normal. The bartender/waiter was kinda slow and we waited a long time even though we were the only ones at the bar. I think this place would be good for a happy hour or a quick dinner if you're in the area. It's a cool vibe and the drinks were tasty . That's all I really care about. (LUSH!!! jk. ...sorta...)

I generally like South American restaurants and tend to be more forgiving of food quality as a result. With Limon, I'm not too sure how forgiving I can be. Sure, the food was fine, but you don't want fine in a restaurant with such high prices. If the restaurant isn't good, you want it to go down flaming. You want them to take chances and try something that hasn't been tried before Limon falls far short of taking risk. They accept bland, call it something that sounds more flavorful, and serve it up for a high price. There are far better options in town, both in this price range and in South American food. One plus side - their caipirinhas are damn good.

I went here this weekend and have mixed things to say. First, the atmosphere and decor were nice. The service was very friendly and helpful (our waitress helped me navigate my food allergy). The caipirinha I ordered was good, and strong. The scallop appetizer was very very tasty. My husband got the sea bass cebiche and it was also delicious. I also sampled a potato cake dish (they are called "causa"). Maybe it just wasn't what I was expecting (more like potato mash cut into wedges--I was expecting something shredded or stuffed), but I wouldn't order that again. I also got the chicken kebob appetizer it it was just "eh." The plantain chips were not much to speak of either. So, some very good, some not so good, but a nice place to be overall. Add to that the fact that the portions are small and the prices high, and I have to give them three stars.

This place has decent food and friendly wait staff, but it is overpriced. Ordering is confused since each entree has two portion sizes: half sized which is way overpriced, and full-sized entree that is still too much for what you get or what goes into it. If your into the hipster-Peruvian food then I guess this is your place, its just not mine.

I've been twice and my experience was great both times. Honestly I was surprised by the negative reviews, which seem legit. Won't stop me from going back because I love the Pisco Sour and the food seemed cheap to me. But like I mention the bad reviews are odd to me. This place is really close to my house... and it has a great happy hour. I decided to try it even though the reviews were SO bad. I have nothing but good things to say about this place. They have happy hour until 7--even on Saturdays. The scallop appetizer was very good. The sweet potato appetizer was different, but very tasty and the sea bass cehiche was excellent. We had a nice waiter who answered all of our questions. They have a great patio and the interior of the restaurant is very cute and welcoming. I do not understand all the horrible reviews of this place. I totally recommend it.

I went here with a group one night, and although the food was good, the service was the worst I have ever experienced. Our entire table went 3+ hours without a single refill on water. When we got the check, it got ridiculous. I have never been treated that way in a restaurant; she was incredibly rude. Regarding us asking to split the check onto a few credit cards, with amounts specified, she said, "Just watch how long this takes me!" Really?? The restaurant was pretty much empty besides us, but apparently she would have rather made no money that night. Oh, and a 20% tip was included, so she knew she could treat us poorly and we couldn't do anything about it.

I went specifically for the tres leches which I had a while back when they first opened, and I thought it was amazing. Since then, they've changed. For the worse! The host, Alex, argued with me whether I had a reservation, then when I proved it on my smartphone, he said that he accepted it on his phone and basically said it wasn't reliable. The Pisco Sour was NOT sour, and the Tres Leches was more like banana bread soup. We also had the Ropa Vieja, calamari, and snapper tacos. The tacos weren't bad but the other stuff was just simply overpriced.

We were going to go to P17 for Happy Hour, but noticed Limon when we pulled up and decided to try it, since we had already been to P17 for happy hour, and Limon is right next door. We decided to sit at the bar and even though it was Friday evening, the place was pretty empty. We ordered some drinks and the bartender was accommodating, as we requested margaritas made without the sweet and sour mix. The drinks were good, but my margarita glass was swimming in salt on the side. Waaaaaay too much salt on the glass-looked really sloppy. We decided to stick to the appetizer menu, as it was on the happy hour priced menu. The chips/salsa plate had great yucca and plantain chips, but not enough of the salsa-teeny tiny little ramekin, maybe 4oz. at most. Then we ordered the potato stack, but that ended up just being super bland and I remember commenting that I regretted being so hungry because I don't have the best tasting judgment when I'm starving. Finally, we decided to try dessert-a true test of a place. We ordered the apple/caramel/cheesecake type thing. It was pretty good-you could tell the dulce de leche was made in-house, but the cheesecake itself was very dry. Overall, I'd say we will probably not return. It wasn't bad, per se, but it wasn't stellar and there are so many more amazing eateries in this town where I'd rather spend my hard earned money.

I first went to Limon for dinner, when it opened in 2006. At the time, it was very busy and both the food and the service were good. For some reason, we never went back, though, probably because it was also a bit expensive. I had forgotten about the place until a friend with a Groupon invited me there last night. This time, it was happy hour and although the place was rather empty early on, more people came as the night progressed. I found the service to be helpful and very good- my water glass was never empty. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and have nothing to complain about, but the place somehow doesn't wow me. It seems sort of quiet and lacking in any excitement. That is great for an initimate dinner or conversation and it is definitely comfortable and welcoming, but I don't know that I would make a special effort to go back.

we're new in town and saw that Limon had been written up in a local paper (forget which) so tried it last Friday. It was a disappointment, but happy to say the first one since moving here. Limon is quite simply over priced for what it offers. We had the potato cake shrimp sandwich for an appetizer. As I bit into it for the first time I experienced a whole lot of nothingness. Very bland... and there were only two shrimps on the entire thing. I had the a beef dish that was described as being "infused" with sun dried tomato. Basically it was an average tasting filet (a bit on the mushy side) and I don't remember tasting any sun dried tomato at all. The best part of the dish were the vegetables it came with. My wife ordered the other beef dish (medallions). Basically, it was okay, but tasted like they had used a McKormick chili seasoning bag for the sauce. Don't get me wrong, the food wasn't bad, but it certainly wasn't good either. The server was a bit flighty and not terribly attentive. Add to that the prices and we're down to two stars.

My boyfriend and I walked into Limon at 9pm this past Sat and were seated right away. Neither of us had been there before but we had the groupon. I wasn't hungry or in the mood for a drink at the time, but the groupon was going to expire and we thought we could go for some appetizers. I ended up getting a drink - the Ron-Yki-On and WOW! It was perfect. Served in a martini glass, not too sweet, not too sour, and just the right amount of alcohol for a warm buzz but not put me to sleep during the midnight movie we were heading to later. He had a couple of beers. We decided to order entrees instead of apps. I had the Conchas de quinoa tostado and he had the Carne de Cerdo. Both very delicious. Modest portion sizes, so I wouldn't go starving, and a bit pricy. We also shared a dessert - Manjar Blanco y Coco Pastel - described on the menu as dark chocolate cake with carmelized milk and lavender whipped cream. But this was no ordinary chocolate cake - crumbly and gooey fudginess with a kick of cayenne. Loved it! We were pleasantly surprised by this place and will definitely be going back to try more of the menu and have drinks.

I have visited Peru with my Peruvian college roommate and learned a lot about what makes Peruvian food great. When I found Limon - after Piscos closed - I was elated. The ceviche, the pisco sour, the caipirinha (which is technically Brazillian), Atun Tacu Tacu, and the Peruvian Paella dish all were very close to what I remember about my best meals and drinks in Peru. The staff was friendly, not rushed, and made excellent recommendations. Sure, its expensive (for a broke college student) but totally where I might want to have my second to last meal.

Nice looking little place with food that doesn't quite live up to the expectations of a higher-end restaurant. The ahi tartar with guacamole mouse was decent, as was the lomo saltado (wok-prepared beef, tomatoes, onions, potatoes cooked in soy-sauce), but both of these dishes left me thinking I've certainly had much better. I actually thought the seafood paella tasted kind of peculiar, and I don't care much for their ceviche, which seems like a hard food not to like (or to prepare well). Also, they put the tables-for-two wayyyyy too close together - not a big deal in a normal setting, but it's a little hard to enjoy the romantic candlelit atmosphere when you're practically on top of the couple next to you.

My husband and I used a Living Social deal for brunch this week and it was UNBELIEVABLE! The mimosas were the best I've had in a long time, just the right amount of good champagne and fresh OJ. They were bottomless and I never got close to seeing the bottom of mine! Excellent service, and the food was amazing. I have Celiac's so it's really nice to find a place where 90% of the menu is gluten free. They use corn for almost everything. I had the Eggs Havana which were amazing, the beef was super tender and the poblano hash was so good, and my husband had the tamales which were just as good. I can't wait to go back and try dinner! I highly recommend checking this place out.

As the second stop on a sort of culinary world adventure, I really wanted to like the Peruvian offering at Limon but sadly, our dinner fell short. We ordered the coconut shrimp for our appetizer--a very generous serving of 6 shrimp pieces on a bed of rice. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. The dish was topped with a lime aioli sauce, which added nice flavor. Eager to sample a variety of Peruvian fare, we order 3 tapas-size servings: Quinotto de hongos de Montana (quinoa and vegetables), Seco de cordero (lamb stew), Arroz con Mariscos (Peruvian Paella). The entrees were served while we were still eating the coconut shrimp appetizer--poor timing is a peeve of mine at upscale restaurants--which the server attributed it to an efficient kitchen. The lamb stew was a huge disappointment--the stew contained more potatoes than pieces of tough and chewy lamb. And the dish was absent of any remarkable or outstanding flavor. While better than the lamb stew, the Peruvian paella was another disappointment in that it lacked flavor. The paella was served with 2 mussels, 2 pieces of shrimp and 1 scallop. Sea bass was nowhere to be found. The winner of the night was the quinoa dish--a nice and flavored pairing of cotija cheese, roasted red peppers, spinach, mushrooms, and quinoa. For 1 appetizer, 3 entrees (tapas-size servings), and 2 glasses of wine, our bill came to $70. Limon should've offered a more memorable and pleasing dining experience for that price.

My happy hour app lead us to Limon for $5 Margaritas. When we ordered the happy hour margarita we were asked if we were 'ok with the happy hour size?'. The waitress explained their happy hour margaritas were smaller than the regular priced margaritas. Really? Then call it a small margarita for a smaller price, don't call it happy hour. We continued our meal with some happy hour apps. They were OK but very little food. The service was slow and we were asked twice if we 'had a voucher'. I guess they do a lot of groupon business. I've only eaten at Limon' once and I've been wanting to go back ever since. It's a little pricy for the portions you get, but the food is delicious! I pulled up their website and found the dish I ordered, "Seco de cordero tender lamb stew prepared in a traditional Peruvian style with black beer, cilantro and aji Amarillo. Served with garlic rice and salsa criolla." It was absolutely amazing! Coupled with one of Limon's 10 Cane Mojitos, it's an experience worth passing on. Parking, as with almost any downtown Denver establishment, is somewhat difficult so be prepared to walk a block or two during "peak" hours.

This place flat out SUCKS! Wanted to try it for a long time, cause it seemed cool. Went to dinner with a friend. I had the ceviche, which literally tasted like dirty, pine sol impregnated, mop water, or at least what I'd imagine dirty mop water to taste like. It was accompanied by the most stale and tasteless banana chips or plantains. Whatever they were, they ate like cardboard. My friend had something equally horrible, and also had a mojito which consisted mostly of flat soda water and sugar. Yuk! Normally I tell people to try a place out, since tastes do differ, however if you like this place you've just been released from Gitmo after 5 years of bread and water, or you've sustained some sort of brain damage that has rendered your taste buds defective.

Wow, Denver has changed a lot since I lived there back in 2002. Sure, there was always upscale, delicious and hip dining downtown, but that concept is pretty new to this neighborhood. So score one for Limon! The food is good. I had the traditional beef stew (made with beer), which was like a 3 out of 5 stars as it was pretty bland. My parents' dishes were incredible though; my dad would barely share his fish dish with me, and my mom's pork dish was fantastic. (Okay, Dad did share. I could tell he didn't want to but he did anyway.) The ceviche is okay. The problem is, it's hard to beat the ceviche at Fresca in SF, so nothing will ever compare favorably for me. But still, it was decent. I liked the atmosphere too. The only problem was that the server kept coming back ad nauseum to see if everything was okay. Like literally, every eight minutes. My mom, bless her heart, said that was because he was coming to check me out. That's sweet mom, but those days are long over! (But you can keep believing, it's okay.)

I made reservations online for date night for 4, for my husband and my sister and her husband visiting from Washington D.C. Limon replied back online. When we got there, they did not have our reservations and refused to honor the date night deal. I asked for the manager and they said he wasn't there and was told he was the one who said "No date night tonight." We went ahead and ordered 2 appetizers-plantain and calamari-both with sauces that were quite good. The Chlie Sea Bass melted in your mouth and the marinated wok fried beef was tasty, but the skirt steak and chimicurri was better with 2 excellent sauces. I forgot to take pictures b/c I was so taken aback of how we were treated initially. Waiter was hauty about the situtation. I also had a LivingSocial coupon and he said I couldnt use that in conjunction with date night. I said, "But you arent honoring date night!" So he relented and took the coupon. Drinks were really good, not watered down or too strong. Everyone really enjoyed the food. The 3 pot creme brulee we all split and was a yummy dessert. Five sisters converging in Denver chose Limón because the menu sounded interesting and because the restaurant was participating in the "Angel Heart" benefit program for providing meals to homebound patients. The drinks from S.A. countries were a bit sweet and off on the spices, so they acknowledged our suggestions and remade the drinks to our satisfaction. The Ceviche and Crispy Chile Rellenos were the outstanding choices of the several items we ordered, while the chowder could use more zip. The seafood used in all items was fresh and nicely done, the tres leches was unique and delicious. Service and ambiance were great if a bit noisy, request Ian #2 as your server!

I went over to Limon for dinner the other night with my brother. It was a Tuesday, and we were one of about 3 or 4 other tables there. The ambiance is great, I think this place would be nice for a romantic date. Very cozy. Our server, it turned out, was either one of, or the, manager. Needless to say, we had great service, he was really professional (but was also friendly and chatty when my brother started a conversation about liquors with him after we finished dinner). We got the Pisco Sours as well, because they were half price for Tuesday nights. I had never tasted one before, and thought it was interesting- a nice change of pace, because sometimes I get tired of ordering the same old drinks. Uh, for the record, I have not been to Peru, so My experience of the food is not really going to be really concerned with the 'Peruvian authenticity' that several of the other reviews are. We got some spicy prawns on cilantro rice for an appetizer. It was tasty, but not astounding. My brother ordered a beef and tomato plate, which he enjoyed. I got a seafood plate with a fried fritter. My brother's portion was pretty large, and mine was a very normal size portion for a nice restaurant. Actually, it was nice because you can finish the plate without feeling totally stuffed full. I thought my dinner was pretty tasty, I would order it again in the future if there were not other things on the menu which I also wanted to try. Oh, as a plus- I don't eat meat, but I do eat seafood, and I was pretty excited about the large selection entrees that were seafood, like other restaurants. My only star-subtractor is because it is pricey. Nice place, but I can think of comparable places (ambiance/service/food-wise) that are cheaper. It was a nice dinner though, great service.

This past Saturday, I planned a dinner for my close friend, and chose Limon. I called last Tuesday for the reservation, and thought my name was in. A few days later, one of the others called to ask if we could bring in a cake, and they didn't even have the reservation. We were re-established; she was told a cake would be no problem. We arrived at the restaurant, I told the manager that we had a few that couldn't make it, and I hoped it wasn't a problem. He told it actually was a huge inconvenience. Fifteen minutes later, we were finally seated- the solution had been to remove a two top- not exactly fifteen minutes worth of work. The restaurant was nowhere near capacity. We ordered dinner; the food was mediocre at best. I had the risotto, which completely lacked flavor. When it came time for the cake, they brought it out, totally unlit. It was supposed to be a surprise. They finally lit them, and she blew out the candles. They took it back to the kitchen and served us 7 pieces. The check was brought, and there was a $20 Open Food charge. When we inquired, we were told it was the fee to use their plates and forks- don't they own those? The waiter said it would be removed, but instead, the manager, the first man I had dealt with, came over and informed us he would not remove the charge, and that he thought it was totally acceptable that the fee was charged to us, that it was standard. I have never heard of doing this! We told him we would never come back, and he said, "fine, don't bother." We finally paid the incredibly high bill, and walked out. It took an extra 30 minutes since the waiter had ignored us upon this all occurring. The one saving grace was the incredibly nice bar manager, Timothy. Oh yes, and the manager is the owner! I have never heard of an owner being so horrendous. I would never set foot in this place again. They are rude and inconsiderate to customers, and the food quality does not match the prices they charge. Spend your money elsewhere!

Went here the other night and had a great meal and wonderful experience. The service was exceptional; being both personal and professional. They have a nice list of unique cocktails and a good wine list... Speaking of the wine list: they do half off bottles on Wednesdays. The food was all very well prepared and had lots of good spice! Let me recommend that you save room for desert. They banana tres leches is one of the best things i have ever tasted!

We have been to Limon twice with Groupons. Last time we had a wonderful dinner. We opted for small plates this time. My husband had a bowl of soup and he said it was outstanding. I had the spinach salad with jalapeno dressing. It had halved grapes in it and it was fresh and delicious. We had Ahi Tuna, shrimp, and several other plates. For dessert we chose the 3 choices of ice cream. One was caramel and it was so good. Presentation was perfect and service was excellent. They have a happy hour until 7:00 p.m. $5 glasses of house white or red wine and small plates discounted. We will definitely be back.

We all like to go out to eat, no? Try new places, have new experiences. Six of us went to Limon for dinner. We shared 8 entrees and honestly thought that everything we ordered except the chili rellano, which was way too spicy, was good. Nothing spectacular but again, good. And, the service we received was excellent and it was reflected in the generous tip. What is not good and why none of us would ever return or recommend Limon, is that fact that they waaaay overcharge for meager portions of alleged "tapas" style plates. A few tiny plates and a big, fat bill, do not equal a pleasant dining experience.
Surprised that the entire inside of the restaurant was empty on a Wednesday at 6 pm. We sat on the patio with 2 other tables. Others showed up after 7. Ordered El Diablo and Mojito el Piña both tasty and refreshing but a little expensive at $10 each. Also tried the red and white sangrias at $7 each. Both good and flavorful. White was peachy, red was a little spicy but sweet. Didn't see happy hour mentioned anywhere. Started with ceviche and guac. Guac: not fresh. Thin film of brown on top. Good ingredients but not the best flavor. Ceviche: great combo of veggies and flavoring but missing any other fish besides shrimp. Served with good tortilla chips. Entree shared crispy rellenos. One relleno on a plate with Spanish rice that was meh. And a salty tangy slaw. Flavors of the relleno were Excellent! That would have been enough food for me (shared with husband) but he was still hungry. So we ordered beef empanadas as well. Same slaw and rice on the side with 3 e's. A little greasy but very good. Ask for more of the green sauce. Overall is a nice change of pace and good place to try several South American flavors in one sitting.

Got a Groupon for this place and I am SO glad I did so. It was an amazing experience with delicious food. Definitely deserves more than three stars. We started with a couple of beers (the craft draft selection wasn't what I'm used to at most CO restaurants) which were reasonably priced considering they weren't on happy hour. The menu is separated by country of origin: Central America, South American, and the Caribbean. The food is Tapa style (READ: smaller plates that restaurants like to charge as full plates because of the fancy name haha) so we ordered four dishes. First off were the Potato and Ham Croquettes...we felt like the potatoes needed additional seasonings because they tasted slightly bland. I don't recommend them. Next, we ordered the Black Bean and Corn Empanadas which were great! I specifically enjoyed the jalepeno crema that was used to top them (next time I would order a small side of that sauce to dip them in!) After, we got the Potatoes Portaviejo which were also delicious. They included a chorizo-tasting sausage, potatoes, and red peppers. The sauce that the dish was bathed in (likely salty fatty residual deliciousness from the sausage) was what tied everything together. Last, we got the Shepard Tacos. These were SO GOOD. Seriously, I'm still fantasizing about them a little over a week later. They came with a delicious pico that really put the icing on the cake Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 (kudos-- he mentioned he was a new server and he did an incredible job!) Ambience: 5/5 (great date night spot) Price: 4/5 (A slight $1-2 decrease per plate would really do the restaurant well. Other than that, the Groupon/happy hour pricing is a great way to go!) We were kind of surprised it wasn't busier as there was nothing wrong with our dining experience (except maybe price). I liked the restaurant more than my date! Haha.

Well a nice enough place I've driven by it a few time and was all ways interested in coming in . Decided to get together this new years eve with four or my good friends and girlfriend. From the time we walked into the restraunt we were told that we only have an hour and a half to eat and be on our way. (note there was a reservation made) One of my friends made a comment to out waitress. She seemed to justify why it was ok that we were told that. Apparently the guy at the door was/is the owner. Odd to be told that by the owner. Felt rather unwelcome from the time we walked in. Let's hope the food is better than the service so far... Food was good I would come back for the food. However I won't be back due to the staff handling of customers.

I definitely think it is worth more than 3 stars. Ambience - A restaurant with a quiet intimate setting, great for dates or small groups. My group of 10 went there and I was thinking, "Crap, we are going to ruin the dates around us with our noise." The restaurant also had to call in extra help to serve our large group. Food - My group ordered almost everything on the menu. Two dishes that stuck out were the meatballs and calamari. Please order the meatballs. I think I had three servings of them just because it was delicious. The sauce covering the meatballs was made to perfection and the meatballs was a little crispy on the outside as I think it was slightly baked. The calamari was also amazing. Even though the servings was small for the price, I thought that the taste compensated for it. The steak fries was meh, nothing good about it. Dessert - I was already bloated after all the tapas, but everyone has an extra tummy for dessert. I think I have two stomachs for dessert. We had the cheesecake and the margarita sorbet. I would not recommend the cheesecake because it was not any special compared to the margarita sorbet. I have never had that AMAZING sorbet. I could taste the margarita taste in it and the sorbet was extremely soft that it melted immediately inside my mouth. I would go back for their margarita sorbet. Yummy !

Limón is a "tapas" style restaurant... It was my second time there, once for lunch and this time for dinner. The decor is thoughtful, the ambience is nice, the menu is broad and the food presentation is good... That said, I felt the service was adequate (our server was eating her dinner in plain sight at the bar) and the dishes were overpriced (we shared 4 dishes, totaling $46, and the portions were quite small). The Med in Boulder is a good example of a similar calibre restaurant that is priced more appropriately. It's not bad, but it's not a good value and I would definitely not recommend it.

It had been a couple years since we last stopped at Limon', so I wasn't certain what to expect. We stopped in on a lark to use a Groupon that was about to expire and neither of us was disappointed. The food was very tasty (the calamari was a bit bland) and we were very satisfied with the portions (the Groupon included three (3) plates, we ordered four (4)). When we return it will be during the spring/summer/fall time frame so we can enjoy the outdoor seating.

Were greeted, checked in, and seated right away. Our server, Summer, was very friendly, efficient and fast. I liked the cozy decor and the place was very vibrant. We had a Groupon and gave it to her right away and she immediately suggested what wines they had. We chose a red and white wine for our meal. This restaurant serves small plates (tapas). Chose one Central America dish-Pork Picadillo Tamale, $10, one South American dish-Skirt Steak & Chimichurri, $14 and one Caribbean dish-Slow-Roasted Shredded Beef (Ropa Vieja), $13. All of them were quite tasty, especially the Skirt Steak & Chimichurri, which was a really good portion. We ended the meal with the Banana Tres Leches with one Americano coffee and a double expresso. It was very tasty. Even though we had a great experience, I would only come here for Happy Hour or if I had a Living Social or Groupon deal. The prices were a little expensive without a coupon.

Was excited by the menu posted outside and the price seemed right...until the waitress mentioned they were a tapas restaurant. Food and atmosphere are ok. Prices are outrageous! $12 for 4 incredibly overboiled and super tough shrimp - recommended by the waitress! $8 for 3 tiny tacos (just ok, the "roasted" garlic was very crunchy and raw) $8 for 3 decent meatballs (but it is hard to mess up a meatball) We started off with a beer and these three plates. A few meager bites later, we are out $42 and out the door. If we had both had a real dinner there, I imagine the bill would have been 3x that. I'm up for laying down $60 on a meal, when the food is incredible, imaginative and/or just straight up delicious. Obviously, Limon missed the mark on the latter but it totally fine sticking you with the former. TL;DR: $$$$$$, Gives tapas a bad name

I think many tapas places are overrated, and Limón is one of them. Yet, I keep trying different tapas because when you find a great one, its all worth it. We had shepherd tacos, plantains, calamari, dick confit, 2 crispy rellenos, and shrimp ceviche. All were just average...but ghe size of the tapas was smaller than an average small plate, and way more costy. Our bill was over $100, yet we still left hungry. Is that possible after 7 tapas dishes? Wow. I think our bill would've been over $130 but we got most of our tapas and mojitos at happy hour price. Rob

Three of us just had tapas at Limón and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. We ordered Guacamole , white fish tacos, spicy meatballs and calamari. Each was just right for the three of us to share. The calamari was exceptional. Before writing this I read a couple of reviews that complained about price and feeling rushed. We didn't experience either of those issues. We finished with creme brule for three. Each dish was around $8.50 and shared three ways, so not too expensive.

"Latin American restaurant? Well you can't fool real Latinos! Or even if you are familiar with how Latin American foods are supposed to taste like. It was severely overpriced for tiny portions. We had the shrimp ceviche, lomo saltado, and the chipotle meatballs. They were all ok, but certainly not authentic nor worth the price. I don't know if it was just that night's blunder, but the pisco sour was AWFUL. Couldn't even finish it; it tasted like laundry water. Service was pretty good, there was only one girl serving all the tables. Overall, atmosphere was ok, (I wish they had played Latin music instead of weird indie/hard rock), food was not bad but certainly not worth the bill, and service was pretty good. I'd recommend this place if you're looking for someplace new to eat and are not familiar with good/authentic Latin American food, but other than that I'd probably go elsewhere for Latin American food.

Had a TravelZoo coupon with a fixed price AND fixed meal. The food was good and contrary to what the waitress said and other reviews, the portions were generous for tapas! We didn't order extra or leave hungry. I would go back just for dessert! I had the creme brulee trio (paid extra to the deal but totally worth it) and my boyfriend had the spicy chocolate ice cream. The wine menu options seemed okay but the one we got was a really good estate and paired with our food exceptionally well. Salad was meh, soup was yum. Entrees had great flavor. Overall, food was really good and we would return even at full price as it is comparable to other trendy places. Finally though, our waitress seemed annoyed the whole night. I know we were there on a Tuesday night (totally dead and there was a friend's baby there) but we tried to chat but she obviously just wanted to get out of there. Even though she was cheery and smiling, it was so very fake. Oh! And parking is easy enough; it's downtown street parking but no meters and more (competing) restaurants are moving in so I think the tapas style is perfect for the area so you can hop around and try things. Side streets could use more lighting though but overall I felt safe after 9pm.

I had a really nice dinner with my friend Jennyfer we shared 3 different plates and a dessert, I was completely full. I highly recommend the Crispy Chile Relleno black beans, raisins, corn, cotija cheese -$10. Also, the Wok Fried Beef (LOMO SALTADO) aji Amarillo, onions, tomatoes, house fries, garlic rice-$14, was really filling. The cuts of beef though it took a while to come out were super tender and the presentation made me say Yippy! Though it wasn't packed on our visit the space isn't extremely large so reservations are suggested. Our bill was less then $60 for 3 different plates, dessert, and two house glasses of wine. Watch for periodical Groupons as well for large savings (I used one for this visit), as it makes the bites more affordable! My wife and I ate at Limon last night. There is no parking lot, but it was easy to find a place on the street in a short walking distance. The ambiance is good with dark woods and black paint -- the focus is on the person at your table. The waiter was prompt, attentive, and friendly. They converted recently to a tapas (small plates) menu and we enjoyed both the idea of multiple small dishes as well as the execution. It's obvious there is a chef rather than a cook in the back because the dishes represented unusual flavor combinations and textures. They were all nicely executed. We had a pork tamale dish (very small example of the breed), coconut and chile calamari (fair to good), skirt steak and chimichurri (very tasty, but be aware that it is skirt steak and not tenderloin), crispy chile relleno (excellently done -- unusual flavors melded). Presentation was uniformly good. For dessert, we tried the Dark Chocolate ice cream (a touch of cinnamon - ole!) and the flan (the best I've had anywhere). I agree that some dishes were too oily -- perhaps the deep fryer needs to be a little hotter? While it's true that prices are $$, but the restaurant is a nice change of pace. My wife and I will be returning and introducing the place to some friends.

This was our first visit for dinner using a $35 Travel Zoo coupon for 4 small plates and 2 desserts. They were located near Parallel Seventeen and down the block from D Bar. They share the kitchen with the Next Door Lounge. I had made reservations through Open Table for 100 points. We were the only ones there. Maybe because the Broncos were playing in the AFC Divisional Playoff. The Next Door Lounge was packed and we could hear the people cheering for the Broncos through the walls. We were greeted right away and seated at a small table. The restaurant had really nice decor, but the light was dim and it was difficult to see the menu. We ordered 4 small plates: The Spinach Salad ($8) had baby spinach, halved red red grapes and candied walnuts tossed in a jalapeno buttermilk dressing. The dressing had a kick to it. The Coconut and Chile Calamari ($10) came out about a minute later. I hadn't even dished out the salad and wanted to eat the calamari while it was still hot. The breading was a light corn dust, not too heavy. There were large pieces of tentacles and rings of calamari served with a lime aioli. This was one of the best fried calamari I've had in along time. We both ordered the Skirt Steak & Chimichurri ($14 each). The meat was perfectly seasoned and cooked to medium rare. It was skirt steak, so it was a little chewy and tough but that's to be expected for that cut of meat. The chimichurri was red. I prefer the green version. The fries had the skin on them. They were served on top of the steak on a small plate. We had to eat the fries before we could cut the meat with a steak knife. We then ordered dessert. My husband ordered the Three Pots of Creme Brulee ($7). They came in Vanilla Bean, Mocha, and Coconut. He actually liked the Mocha the best because it was different. He couldn't really taste the difference between the vanilla and coconut. I ordered the Yucatan Flan ($7). It was dense and creamy. The tequila infused pineapple slices and piece of peanut brittle was a nice contrast to the flan. They have a Happy Hour from 4-6pm with limited tapas. Too bad the Calamari isn't on the Happy Hour menu. We probably won't be back without another coupon.

I love tapas. And I basically love food. So combine little plates of food (which really means lots and lots of variety) make me a happy girl. The interior of Limon is very nice. Dark. Wood. Deep colors. I totally get the style and I like it. But I didn't go to dinner to sit and admire the furnishings. I like Limon. The food is pretty good but the prices are a little high for what you get. We ended up getting about 8-9 dishes including dessert. I would say most of them were well executed and successful as far as flavor goes. There was really only a couple that we didn't care for and one of those was recommended by our waiter. The other was supposedly a Peruvian favorite. The Lomosaltado had great elements of flavor .. but the meat didn't impress me. I do believe in 3's though. So I do get slightly miffed when a plate comes out with 2 items. Maybe make them smaller so you can adhere to the balance of odd numbers rule or something. Plus it made the 3 of us eating weird because someone always gets more. 3 small empanadas would have been better than 2 medium sized ones. Just say'n. Also .. apparently the Pisco sour didn't have enough zing. And this is straight from a Peruvian's mouth. So maybe a little more brandy?

I came here for a random dinner with my date on a Saturday evening, looking to try a new place to eat. My date and I were thinking of ordering a few of the smaller tapas plates, and then an entree to share. We ordered the beef empanadas and the steak and fries entree, thinking that surely both of these plates would satisfy the two of us. The 3 empanadas, while small, were actually quite good, and the Spanish rice that comes with it was great as well. The steak and fries entree, however, was a major dissappointment to say the least. I should have known something was funny when the waiter didn't ask how we wanted the steak cooked. I do not understand how a place can charge almost $20 for a piece of red meat that was literally smaller than the size of my palm (and I have small hands). The steak had come pre-cut into six pieces and had been covered in the fries, probably to hide how tiny it was. Oh, and you better be sure I counted how many fries came with it; 13, and they were small also. The steak also came with more rice. Whoopty-doo. Bottom line, this entree wouldn't have been enough for one of us. While my mixed drink was killer, it isn't worth coming back here. If you are looking for a meal that is worth every penny, I suggest the reader pay attention to all of the other low reviews for Limon because every single one is accurate. Take your money to The District, or even to the pricier Humbolt across the street, where you won't feel like you were just robbed.

We bought a Groupon for this place - totally worth the money! If you like spicy, GET THE CHILE RELLENO! So. good. Everything was tasty, including the cocktails (I had a jalepeno-infused tequila margarita and my lady had the house sangria). The best part was our attentive server - I wish I had remembered to get her name! She was very informative about the food, kind, and attentive (but not overly attentive or annoying). We also ate the tres leche cake...omg. I don't order dessert very often, but this was wonderfully sweet and moist. Topped it off with a decaf coffee. All around good stuff here. The one draw-back is that it's pretty pricey for a more low-key joint.

I went in with a travelzoo coupon; actually told them up front about it. He came to our table and complained that we reserved a table on opentable and that we had bought the travelzoo coupon together. Listen, if you don't want to pay a per head fee to open table, don't use it; and especially don't complain about it to your patrons. I also don't want to hear you complaining about how dead your restaurant is during the week and the coupon / opentable should be used on the weekend. Again, you should had made a stipulation for that in the coupon. Also, don't stare at my gf and try to look at both of your patrons in the eye. Slow service, mediocre tapas, and a complaining gm who served us made for a bitter night out. No wonder you need a coupon to fill the tables. Ridiculousness

I wanted to like this place more than I did. The food was a bit boring in my opinion, especially for the money. I would have given it a second try but when I got the bill and I saw they charged me $7 for a San Pellegrino, uh nope. That is just unnecessary gouging. Not sure whats going on there if you need to almost double a bottle of water. It would have been fine if the food had more attention. The server/slash hostess was nice but seemed very apathetic and like she just got out of bed. Sorry, just over the ego of restaurants. If you are going to charge a lot of money, you should make it worth it.

A friend and I ate here last night and it was wonderful! Our service was excellent, the bartender, who served us, gave us great food and drink recommendations and was just lovely. Tried this place because we had a groupon. Its a tapas restaurant so the plates are not huge. But it seems like the food is pretty good. They also have a decent happy hour which ends at 6. Drinks are good. They have a pretty decent Mojito and margarita. I'll go back. Its def worth a try if you like spanish tapas.

One of the best restaurants we visited during Denver Restaurant Week 2013! I made six reservations for restaurant week this year at places all over Denver. This one definitely stands out. They have a small bar area, where I enjoyed a cocktail while waiting for the rest of my group to arrive. They did not do happy hour pricing during restaurant week, which was odd, but not a big deal. They encouraged me to come back after restaurant week was over for their happy hour. I had a tasty mojito-esque cocktail with gin and cucumbers, yum! When we were seated for our reservation, we found out that the selections listed on the restaurant week website were incorrect. This caused some consternation, but our server offered us individual desserts to make up for the misunderstanding. And, for some reason, the restaurant saw fit to "cancel" my reservation on Open Table, even though I checked in and hung out at the bar for an hour before our reservation, and all of us were in attendance for our reservation. Annoying. The food was incredible. Meredith is right, the white fish is outstanding! And, their plates are larger than tapas, but not quite a full-size meal. This means that rather than select one entree, you can try a few different dishes in a single meal. I really like this! I will most definitely be back, probably with a MeetInDenver group in tow!

I'm glad to see that the dollar sign rating has been adjusted accordingly. Definitely warrants a $$$ versus a $$. The flavors were great and the service was pleasant but as the boyfriend astutely observed mid-meal, "each bite is a dollar." I enjoyed the shrimp ceviche and the Mojito. We were shocked to discover that the most expensive thing on the menu ($14) came in the form of one...ONE scallop. The most filling item we ordered was the steak skirt, mostly because of the fries. The other four dishes lasted a few bites and set us back double-digits in dollars. Basically, great ambiance and favors but NOT worth it. Our tab came up to over $100 for two cocktails, a fat tire, a coffee, and 5 tiny tapas plates. Ooooof. It still hurts.

We stumbled upon this place one frigid night as we were wandering around the city. It seemed very welcoming with the romantic atmosphere, the pleasant music playing at just the right volume, and the friendly staff. We sat at the bar and had drinks. The bartender was extremely talented and gave us the VIP treatment. Initially, we had only planned on having one drink to warm up, but we ended up staying for several because he had an infinite set of extremely unique and delicious cocktails. We tried a few appetizers as well, which were also really decent. We will definitely be back!!!

I was surprised when I saw most everyone touch on how overpriced this place is... Very very true. I used to go but has been a very long time since I've gone back. Food (back then at least) was phenomenal! Truly. But the prices really are above average, even P17, another upscale restaurant charges. You can walk out of P17 with spending around $30 and getting something descent. Not here more like $45+. You think the owner would have gotten the point by now. However he's still in business he probably doesn't need customers... Food, Awesome! Prices, terrible.

We went to Limon on a Sunday wanting to have the Brunch with our Groupon, was told by the owner they stopped honoring the Groupon for Sunday Brunches. I was so surprised I froze for a second, then I explained we came all the way from Lakewood and the Groupon would be expiring in a few days.... Finally got in. The waiter was nice, grabbed our water quickly and seemed friendly. He did pretty well till the very end, after we handed him the Groupon, he re-did the bill and brought out the rest of what we owed, we left him cash on the table including tips. As we were going out he asked us if we had a Groupon. We were like, but you just took it! He seemed geniunely surprised as if he'd forgotten the whole incidence....! As far as the food, their presentation sure is better than their taste. We ordered the Eggs Havana and House Tamales, both should be comfort foods but they were so "fancy" that you just don't remember what they tasted like afterwards, all you remember is what they looked like because you couldn't help but snap pictures of them. Now if everything I've written can be forgotten, this can't: DON'T ORDER THE Bananas Foster Sopes!!! They sound delicious but the sopes (sopaipillas I assume) are very dry, tastely, and super doughy. I don't know what the waiter was thinking, to bring this out at the same time as our other dishes, this was supposed to be dessert and if it had come out at the end of the meal, maybe it would've been crispier. So, maybe it was wrong execution but still, this dessert could hardly impress! As a matter of fact, we overheard the owner checking with the other table who also ordered the Bananas Foster Sopes and the guy was being so honest and told the owner it was terrible! The restaurant itself is pretty cute, great wall colors, just a very chic place to hang out.
Went for restaurant week tonight. All the food we had was super yummy and our server was great. Pumpkin soup - awesome, spinach salad-okay, wok fried beef-unbelievably amazing, clams and chorizo- broth was great but clams were miniscule, crispy duck - fantastic taste but not crispy, crispy relleno - delicious, Mexican ice cream - uber rich dark chocolate with yummy bruleed banana, and dulce de leche - perfectly balanced and not super sweet. They ran out of creme brulee which made me very sad because we were really looking forward to it after talking to the table next to us. Glad we came during restaurant week because we still threw down a hundy plus tip after ordering one of their $20 bottles of wine, which was pretty darn good too.

Being big fans of wine, we decided to try this restaurant out on their Wine Down Wednesdays. They have half-priced bottles of wines and $5 glasses of wine...great deals! It's a cute location, cozy building. I was surprised though that there was only one waiter working...and even though I'm sure he was busy, he wasn't very attentive to anyone. We ordered a bottle of wine and waited about 25 minutes before we received it. It took so long, we were even thinking of potentially NOT ordering dinner because we were so hungry. During the long wait, we had decided what to get, and although it took a bit of time, the food was actually pretty amazing. I highly recommend the Braised Beef "little fat ones" -- maybe get two of those! The tamale was delicious, and the pork belly was pretty good. My two companions really enjoyed the skirt steak but I could've done without -- it didn't come with nearly enough fries, and the chimichurri wasn't phenomenal (I wasn't the only one to say that). Regardless, it has a really good gluten-free selection, good wine selection (and price on Wednesdays) and good food! I will give this restaurant another shot because hey, maybe it was a bad night and someone called in sick.

An update: I took my in laws here on their recent visit, and I swear it was the only place I picked out all weekend I think they liked. :) It seems like a lot of the negative reviews are about groupon complications. While a restaurant should only offer one if they can execute well, I think those experiences should be taken with a grain of salt. The rellenos are out of this world and the margaritas are delicious.

this place is amazing. it's cozy and upscale without feeling confined or stuffy. the food is outstanding - we didn't have one bad bite. and the cocktails? the cocktails were magical. we ordered the pork tamale (the sauce is something pretty yummy), the coconut lime calamari (loved the sauce - it had just the right amount of heat), the white fish (INCREDIBLE - and someone (the owner, perhaps?) told me how to make it MYSELF) and the chimicchuri steak (INCREDIBLE). we had the cheesecake with apple compote for dessert which was also outstanding. we'll be back. Cozy, inviting and unique. Interesting menu, spanning South America, Central America and the Caribbean. We had the 5280 deal, which allowed us to chose 4 different dishes. We enjoyed the food, but I found a few dishes oversalted. The owner was in the room most of the time and came to talk to us. The two brands of Tequila recommended by the waiter and the owner were excellent. Chocolate creme brule was very tasty too.

I will have to agree with other reviewers that it is far too expensive for what you get. Also, can Yelp change the star rating please?? We were looking for someplace to get in on Saturday night fairly early (6pm) but with no reservation, and I saw this place was nearby and it was reasonably priced. Or so I thought. First off, people looked frantic when we told them there were five of us and had no reservation. I get it, Saturday night, but part of your job is to make people feel comfortable and welcome, so chill the f out and let's figure it out. My friends and I are flexible. We can do bar seating or a high top, which is what we ended up with. No one gave us menus when we sat down, and our server approached and asked for our drink order. I forget her name, but she was very nice. It wasn't until after we ordered drinks that we saw the menu, which is unfortunate, as I would have certainly tried one of their signature drinks. Our server notified us that they recommend each person getting two or three items from the menu (all of which are tapa style, smaller portions). Each item was at least $10 and some as much as $15. NOT TWO DOLLAR SIGNS! We ended up ordering one dish per person since we were not prepared for that price range. We had Clams with Chorizo, Chilli Relleno, Sea Scallops and other things that were apparently not memorable enough to mention. The three things I listed above were very tasty, but so rich that I ended up having to dash home for some, um...new socks.... before continuing our night out.

Well surprise surprise I enjoyed my meal did no expect to because of the yelp reviews I read. Bloody Marys and mimosas 10.00 for all you can drink. They were strong drinks which I like if I am drinking calories. They will even give you a half Bloody. I have never asked for a half only doubles and a few triples. I asked our waiter what his favorite item was and he said the rellenos which was my first choice anyway. There were two nice sized peppers they had a very nice light batter surrounding them. Inside was corn, a few raisins but not too sweet and the Mexican white cheese. Oh yes and black beans. It wasn't stuffed full. I liked that. I ate both which surprised me because I was full plus I had a few Bloody Marys to help start the meal. One of my friends had eggs and shredded meat. He said it was good. Then added "I like bacon better". I am not sure what the others had but we ate, drank and best of enjoyed each others company. I gave this a 4 because the Bloody Marys was too thick. It was spicy and the thickness thing is just me. I still drank a few plus 1.

I really like Limon and I always find it kind of baffling that it's never that crowded. It's nice cause you can usually walk in and get a table, and it's got pretty sweet happy hour deals. It's in my neighborhood and not as crowded or noisy or annoying as it would be to go to LoDo for a HH. It is a bit expensive but I think the dishes are well crafted and I have never been disappointed with the quality, really. Sometimes they are smaller portions but your server will let you know (no judgment) if you're hungry and want value what to get. On that note, I think the best part about Limon has always been the service -- servers are friendly, hands off but attentive, and always just really nice people. Overall I really think it is worth a visit if you're on 17th!

My wife and I went here and had a decent time. The ambiance was nice and the decor pleasant. The waitress was friendly but not very attentive. I had the Lamb stew and my wife ate vegetarian, both dishes were decent but not great. I also had the cheesecake which was too small but ok. My wife ordered a drink that was watered down. Overall we had a decent experience but nothing memorable. If we had not had a groupon I don't think we would have gone, and without the groupon the price was too high for the food.

I should have read the reviews before eating at Limon. I found a Groupon for $30 which I thought was a steal--until I saw the portion sizes. Very, very small and the quality of the food was quite average. My boyfriend and I shared 3 small plates one of which was scallops on a bed of veggies with salmorejo sauce (Spanish soup). It came with ONLY 2 scallops and the retail price was $14! Seriously?! Also, the Groupon was misleading, it said that 2 glasses of wine (up to $17) were included which I assumed meant that the patrons had the liberty of choosing their own wine. Not the case at all, the choices were a house white or a house red (which was reminiscent of Crane Lake, or 2 Buck Chuck). Needless to say, we won't be coming back.

Overpriced and over-fried. Everything is oily and tastes o.k., (because of the massive amounts of fat) but leaves you feeling terrible after. Perhaps the largest disappointment was my $10 mixed drink which was bitter and left me wishing I had spent my money elsewhere. My boyfriend was much more pleased than me...but after spending $20 each on our meals, (and this was after a coupon deal) I somehow left hungry and feeling sick at the same time. Its a smaller restaurant with a good concept, but I'm not sure they are hitting it quite right. Maybe that is because I'm from Boulder and we have The Med (who knows tappas) but I'm not sure. The meals were intended to be 'small' sizes that we could share. The portions varied greatly between a lot and not enough. They were also rather expensive considering the sizes of each meal. The quality of the food was good, but it didn't rock my socks or anything. I venue itself was attractive and well decorated. However, we had a reservation and were sat at a high top by the bar... which would have been very cold if it was the dead of winter. It was also rather strange that the bartender (who was very busy) was also our waiter. They took care of this by sending another staff person to take care of our order. However, it was awkward. I'm glad we have good company. The conversation at our table was very interesting. This was probably assisted by the drinks, which were excellent BTW.

As with seemingly everyone else who ate here recently, we had a Groupon. I made a reservation easily the night before for 7pm on a Saturday night. We got here, and the place was practically empty, which I thought was weird. I guess the uptown crowd is just too hip to eat at 7, because the place was pretty full by the time we left. The restaurant is small and the decor is pretty plain. Lots of browns. We were seated in the corner, and within seconds we had water and our waiter was there to take our drink orders. We ordered some martinis which were tasty and strong, the two qualities I most look for in drinks. We had the parmesan scallops for an appetizer, which tasted like scallops and parmesan. As is often the case, the dish was only two scallops, but there were other little scallopy things that we didn't recognize as well, and a tasty sauce. Tanya had the quinoa risotto, and I had the scallop tostada. Because we'd been eating chips at Lola for the past hour, we both ordered the half-sized entrees. Both dishes tasted fine, but a little plain. I liked that the food was different than what you can get at most places, and the food seemed well-executed, but it just didn't hit me as something special. For dessert we had the dark chocolate cheesecake, which sounded amazing on paper, but was a pretty middle-of-the-road affair when it came out. The dark chocolate crust was not flavorful, and the cheesecake itself was nothing to write home about. The place also seems a little pricey for what you get, but it's not outrageous. Our waiter was attentive and friendly all night, without being overbearing, even after the restaurant filled up. I'd recommend this for those occasions when you want to try something different, but it's not a place I'll be coming back to regularly.

Good concept..but TERRIBLE execution!.. We had... APPS *Shredded Beef Sopes - Beef had absolutely no flavor, couldn't see or taste the other components of the dish *Potato and Ham Croquettes- not bad. portion was pretty good for app. _Both apps had a silly shredded cabbage and carrot garnish. ENTREES *Duck Confit Enchiladas- Probably the MOST DISGUSTING THING I HAVE EVER TASTED in a restaurant. I bit into it then SPAT IT OUT.. unfortunately, i didnt realize how AWFUL it smelled until after the bite.. There was something ROTTEN in the enchiladas. I couldn't believe they served it. Called the waiter he said he smelled it from where he was standing...WOW..what is going on in that kitchen?!!! _Had that same stupid shredded cabbage & carrot as my veg side. *Sea Scallops Tostada-Not Bad but not great either...Scallops were tiny..wouldve rather seen 3 larger scallops than 4 tiny scallops. DESSERT Spiced Chocolate-Crusted Cheesecake- Dry cheesecake covered with apple pie filling & Hershey's syrup..weird flavor profile with the apple chocolate combo..looked super amateur. I was highly disapointed..the menu descriptions sounded SOO good but the food just couldnt live up to it...never again.

You get what you pay for period! I'm not sure why all these people read reviews then show up and are surprised that a meal for two with one drink will be +$50. C'mon! If you want cheap and plat full of crap go to Chili's or someplace like that. Limon's food is FABULOUS, period! Great flavors, ingredients and presentation. Yes you might pay 10% above what one would think, but would that really prevent you from enjoying a great meal, with superb service in a lovely location. My wife and I sat at the bar and Matt (the manager I believe) was awesome! He recommended a reasonable priced bottle wine and was VERY clear on the menu style of NOT Tapas which are small bites, but plates a bit larger than traditional tapas but still share. He recommended 3 to 4 plates to share. We had 4 plates, a bottle of wine and each had an additional drink. Our bill was $94, which I felt was a GREAT VALUE considering we left with a full belly and a cool buzz. If you are cheap and like to complain about things like good ingredients, well thought out dishes and smashing staff, but get focus on paying maybe 10-15%, then go to a burrito stand and get a gut bomb of a burrito that costs $6. So here is the deal, if you're going to just eat, $20 per person, if your going to drink raise that $5-7 per drink per person. Now that you know, just go and enjoy. We'll keep coming back for sure. FYI: Clams & Chorizo amazing, Pork Belly was unreal as well!

We have been to this restaurant on a total of 4 visits and have never been disappointed. The staff is great and friendly. We are about 2/3 of the way through the menu, sampling at least 4 different dishes each time, amazing every time. Next time you go, have Michael (the manager) mix your drink, he is a top notch bartender too. (He even hooked up my friend with a non-alcoholic drink that was almost as good as my pisco sour!) It can get pricey, but this is definitely the place to go if you want something a little bit different for dinner or a special night out.

Enjoyed our meal here! Wednesdays are half price wine bottles, so we took advantage of that. We got 6 plates off the menu to share: - Sweet potato fries/plaintain chips were an okay start to the meal for nibbling. The sweet potato fries weren't very crisp, but the lime crema that came with them was quite yummy - Braised beef gorditas were completely delicious, and next time will definitely order more! They were a good combo of textures and flavors - loved the habanero salsa. - Pumpkin soup had great flavor, but it was more on the thin side (a true soup instead of a puree like I was expecting). Would have been nice to have a larger portion for the price. - Tropical salad was a great blend of jicama, orange, apple, greens, and mint. Again, great combo of flavors and textures! - Skirt steak and chimichurri was cooked perfectly (it is hard to get a skirt steak perfect med rare, but this was spot on). The fries were nice and crispy, but the chimi was red and not green, and had too much worcestershire sauce, making it reminiscent of A1 sauce. - Slow roasted pork belly was a standout! Crispy, fatty pork belly was served with whipped, spiced sweet potatoes, pineapple sauce, and some of the habanero salsa that I enjoyed with the gorditas. - Dessert was a trio of creme brulee: coconut, mocha, and vanilla bean. Although the interior of the custard was cold, the flavors were great. If I had to pick, mocha was my favorite, followed closely by coconut. I don't think this restaurant is particularly expensive, but they could probably do a better job of indicating on the menu the smaller plates vs. larger plates to serve those with larger appetites a bit more. Our meal plus a bottle of wine (less tip) was about $110 (if we didn't get the wine, the meal would have been just over $60), which I think is completely reasonable for the amount of food we got. We were full, but not uncomfortable. They also have a nice patio, which would be perfect in the summer for happy hour! We'll be back.

Limon has been consistantly good and I love the personable and friendly service and best of all the food is excellent. Everytime I went it was either on a Friday or Saturday evening, which happens to be very busy. Dispite the wait, Limon has a nice lounge/waiting area where the bartender greeted us and took our drink order. Their cocktails are all awesome (yes, I've tried them all), my favorites are the Pisco Sours and the Caipirinhanas. Their mojitos are also very good. Everything on the menu is done just right. My favorite dishes is the tuna tartare with plaintain chips, calamari, ceviches, and their lamb and beef dishes in any form are excellent. The atmosphere inside is very comfortable, cozy without feeling pretensious. In the summer their outdoor patio is great place to be. I'm also disappointed about the other reviews here on Yelp. I have been here a number of times and never was disappointed -- they should give Limon another chance, because they don't know what they are missing. There are not many Peruvian restauants in Denver, and I'm glad that Limon is here in the Uptown neighborhood.

So this is just based on drinks. Stumbled in on a "busy night". They were really short staffed with 2 waiters and no one at the bar. Got the white sangria and my friend for the margarita. Sangria was ok, didn't taste mixed enough, I could taste each liquor as I sipped more. Everyone else seemed to be having a good time so I'm sure I'll give it another shot to try some of their food.

I cant figure out why they call this a Peruvian restaurant when they have food from all over South America?! Came here on a Thursday night and the patio was full but we scored a 2 seater table in the corner inside. The service was a little slow but our waiter answered every question we had and was spot on with the wine descriptions. My date got the Skirt Steak and Chimichurri (Argentina) with fries and I got the Crispy Chile Rellenos (Ecuador). The waiter claimed that if they weren't the best chiles rellenos I have ever had then he would refund my money. Well to be honest I have never had them stuffed with black beans, corn and plantains so its kinda hard to compare, ha! Also I have traveled extensively around Ecuador and don't remember them being made like that however they were pretty darn tasty so who cares :o) Its a pity they don't have south american pricing tho apart from that the whole dining experience was ok. For desert we shared the Spiced chocolate crusted Cheesecake (Chile) but it wasn't anything special.

So we have been wanting to try this for quite some time, we drive by it daily!!!! So we did finally get in there, the waitress was not really what I would call friendly, she came up after we had been sitting for 10mins or so and said have you been helped, when we let her know that we had not she said well I guess I can help you. It was odd.. But the cebiches were great $5 for Happy Hour!!!! Wow, the Wine list looked great too. So overall I think we may go back and hope the service gets better.

Went there for brunch on the second Sunday since they started serving brunch. I have to say that I was really pleased with my food, and I had been a little worried after reading some of the other review on here! I had the Bananas Foster Sopes, with caramelized bananas, candied walnuts, whipped cream and chocolate and caramel drizzle. It was totally dessert for breakfast, but damn was it good. My other half had the Crispy Chile Rellenos, and they were stuffed with corn, cojita cheese, and black beans. We also really enjoyed them. We have a groupon to use for dinner, so we will be going back, and I'll update more then.

A neat little place. They aren't Mexican, they aren't Cuban, they're a little of everything. Their menu lists a variety of Latin American dishes, each one with the region that inspired the dish, which is a neat touch. The food's a tad on the pricey side, but it definitely has a touch of fine-dining flair to it. If you're in the mood for Latin American food but don't exactly know if you're feeling like Mexican or Cuban or Brazilian or Columbian, Limon is a great place to go. Protip: they have an entree-size sampler which has 4 different small plate dishes in it, each from a different country. It's a great way to try different things out, but it's not officially on the menu, so you have to ask for it.

I have had a hard time penning this review, simply because I had good service and we enjoyed our meal. I have been here once before and enjoyed the drinks, although I thought food was ok. We purchased a Living Social deal and decided to redeem it on my birthday. We arrived in time for Happy Hour and ordered our mojitos, which are good. We sat outside on the patio and ended up ordering 3 mojitos each. The mojitos with house-infused pineapple rum is especially delish. We ordered appetizers of yucca and plaintain chips with limon salsa, which was good and we demolished it. Service was a little slow while waiting for our entrees, especially since it was a Friday night, but the restaurant was not crowded. For our entrees, we ordered mahi y bunuelo and the carne al cerdo. Our food was really delicious, although I feel the prices are too expensive for the portions. Although I have to say I am not one who likes to receive huge portions of food, it just felt that the menu was a tad expensive. However, with that said, since we had the LivingSocial coupon, we thought the price would be doable with $30 off the food, but not happy hour drinks, which was understandable. Although I enjoyed the food, this is not the type of place that makes me think I can't wait to come back. Now, this is not a rant, but I was extremely displeased that I provided my server with the LivingSocial deal (from my iPhone app) and then marked it as used. When the server brought out the bill, it did not include the $30 off. We paid $92 for our meal, which also included dessert (creme brulee). We left and while on our way home we discussed that it didn't seem like the deal saved us anyhting and then realized when we got home that the deal wasn't applied. We called the manager and based on our total, he agreed that we weren't given the discount. After discussing our options, we agreed on a refund of the $30. I came back 3 days later and now the manager and the server have a different story, where the server presents me a copy of the revised bill with the $30 deducted from the bill; however, she never gave us that bill. I disputed it with the manager and the server, but as we paid cash, we were basically screwed and the server got a nice fat tip. She received a total of $115 for our total bill, which if we had the revised bill, she would have received a nice tip, but surely not an additional $35??? What's done is done, but I am not happy with this manager nor server. I think the establishment lacks integrity and this server has no honesty. I certainly would not recommend this business to anyone based on how they do business. I'm very disappointed with Limon. It put a huge damper on my birthday celebration to feel that I was cheated out of a discount that I paid to use.

I too went here with a Groupon. The food was decent, but the portion sizes were very small. Way too expensive for pretty unmemorable flavors. I won't be back. I would suggest going to Bar Next Door to get the Red Snapper tacos for $2 (which are the same ones served at Limon for $9). Disappointed since I really like the Limon in San Francisco (I was deceived by the name - this one has a different owner).

This was the worst restaurant experience I've had in a very, very long time. We were the only people in the restaurant at 7 pm and it took the server 20 minutes to bring us wine after placing our order. She brought me the wrong wine - twice - and didn't apologize or offer to bring me the correct wine (I ordered a sparkly wine and I was served a wine that wasn't and had never been sparkly). At the busiest, there were 4 other tables with customers in the entire dining room and the service we received was really underwhelming. Our water glasses weren't refilled for the last 1.5-2 hours we were there (more on that below) and we had to go to the bar to ask for the check because the server just never came back to our table after serving our entrees (she was hanging out at the bar and serving other tables, so it's not like she left for a break). The food was just OK. The plantain chips on the appetizer menu were way over cooked and were like shoe leather and the entree portions were a little on the small side, but the fish tacos were pretty good. Still, there are several other places I'd choose in Denver any day over Limon when it comes to food, especially for that price range. Overall, I'd give them 2 stars for food. And then came the real kicker. My friend had a Living Social deal that she wanted to use on our meal. Because we had ordered appetizers and wine, they would not let us use the deal because it was "Girls Night Out" (wine by the glass and appetizers were 1/2 off). What did they do? They tried to charge us full price AND refused to honor the Living Social deal. It took over 90 minutes to sort out the bill and we still weren't able to use the deal we'd purchased. The server and the "manager" were both VERY rude during this entire process and I have never been treated so poorly in a restaurant in my entire life. Limon offers a standing "theme" each night of the week - Tues is Girls Night Out, Wed is Happy Hour all night, etc. The Living Social deal is only valid Tues-Friday, which is when they always have their theme nights (this is NOT listed in the Exclusions of the deal) and you can't use your deal if there is any other "promotion" going on in the restaurant. Basically they've made it so you can never use your deal after you've purchased it. Genius! We were there for over 3 hours, and it was a very frustrating 3 hours. Not our idea of a fun night out, by any means. We've had Living Social (they have GREAT customer service, by the way) refund our deal purchase because we won't ever be going back!

I have to go with a so-so rating for Limon. Having had authentic Lomo Saltado, their version was a bit weak and lacking flavor. Claiming to be "Denver's eclectic Peruvian lounge", I think it falls a bit short. Leave Peruvian our of your description. More accurate would be a general South American lounge. The menu is full of South American dishes and what we had was OK, but I don't think I'd go above a 2-star rating. Needs more flavor. The staff was friendly, but could be a little more attentive.

Yikes! I had no idea so many people disliked this place! I went to the restaurant a long time ago before it even had its grand opening and there was a lot of chaos because they were trying to get their menu down and train their waitstaff. But I did like the food so I decided to go back last week to give it another go. Before I start, I should state that I lived in Peru for about 8 months, so I am pretty familiar with the flavor and recipes of typical cuisine. We went on a Tuesday and got a seat on the patio. I immediately ordered a Pisco Sour (which are 1/2 price on Tuesdays!), the traditional drink of Peru. It was super strong and yummy. It's a different tasting drink, but they've really nailed the flavor, though the consistency could be a little thicker. We orders the Sea Bass Ceviche to start, and it was pretty good, but I didn't really like the way they cut the fish (I like small cubes, theirs were sort of mini fillets), but the spices were pretty good. I had the Atun con Tacu Tacu and he had the Quinotta con Hongos and both were pretty darn good. The service was at a good pace, but not too fast for the type of restaurant that Limon is. I never felt rushed, but the food didn't take too long and our server was very pleasant. The real reason everyone in the world should go to this restaurant is the Lucuma Ice Cream. Lucuma is a fruit that is pretty much only grown in Peru and, I think Chile. It has a sweet nutty flavor and a slightly gritty texture. It is the most glorious fruit ever. Ever. These guys import the fruit from Peru and have it made into fresh ice cream by a local ice cream place (Liks or something like that). But it is the only place in town that has this flavor. Go and order it. If you don't reach sweets nirvana, then I don't know what is wrong with you. Overall the food is very good, but I would like to make an emphatic statement that, with the exception of a few dishes (pisco sour and lucuma ice cream), this is NOT an accurate representation of Peruvian food. This is a white guy's attempt at Peruvian fusion food. And that is what slightly irks me about this place. While the food is good, traditional Peruvian food is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better. The fact that that try and pass themselves off as authentic Peruvian cuisine bothers me. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't go. The food is great, the service is good and the Lucuma ice cream is heavenly.

All of the small plates were delicious. The experience was enhanced by incredible mojitos - which were quite, quite strong!

I brought a large group (16) for a birthday party, on a weeknight with a reservation a week in advance. The food was fine, but the service was terrible. We ended the meal with 16 empty water glasses because there wasn't enough staff to get our food out, much less offer us water. When the check came, we were told we couldn't have it split, and apparently it said this on the menu. When I suggested it would have been nice to mention that when I made the reservation or when we arrived, the manager became really confrontational. I expected Limon to be happy with so much business on a quiet weeknight, but the manager treated us like she didn't want us there. I'm happy to oblige.

Last night was my first time at Limon. I discovered that it is under new ownership and the owner was our server. We had a wonderful experience. I had the empanadas and I have to be honest and say that I was hesitant to order them because I've never had an good empanada. I was very pleasantly surprised. They were wonderful. We also ordered the Sea Bass which was delicious. Cooked perfectly and very tasty. Cristina made the comment that the preparations and flavors of our dishes were like "down home" peruvian and she's right. Delicious and beautiful but not overreaching. So often restaurants try too hard and in the process ruin the food. Not the case at Limon. Oh and the margaritas are terrific as well!!! Cristina's had a dash of cinnamon - something I've never encountered and while I prefer traditional it was really good.

I went to Limon for my first time last week. We showed up around 8:30 with no reservation, but only ended up waiting about 30 minutes for a table (the place was packed!)...not too shabby. Right from the get-go, the service from everyone we interacted with was really great! We ordered a few of their specialty cocktails (Sangria and Tortuga) and the garlic and curry prawns to start. Yum! We ended up ordering several items off of the small plates menu to share, all seafood items. Everything was very delicious, though my favorite was the red snapper tacos. My god those were good! We rounded out the meal with one more set of specialty cocktails: Ron-Yki-On and the Pisco Sour - awesome! The pisco sour was the most unusual drink I've had in a long time but I highly recommend it if you're into unique cocktails. We, too, used a groupon...but I'd definitely go back again without one! The ambiance was warm, friendly, and cozy...and it made for a great date night!

I was really looking forward to trying Limon. I'd heard some good thinking about it, although, I probably should have checked here on Yelp first. I started with their signature drink, the Pisco Sour, on the advice of someone who knows South American cuisine well, (Thanks CB!) We ordered the plantain and yucca chips as an appetizer - which we good, with the exception of the sauces they served with the chips. My friends and I wanted a salad before dinner, so our waiter asked the chef to make "house salads" for us -- they don't have anything like that on the menu -- and honestly, this was the best part of the meal. Mixed greens, red onions, beets and olives tossed in a cilantro vinaigrette. We were impressed that the chef just whipped that up. I had the paella and my friends both had the tuna. Both meals were OK. Not offensive but not terribly memorable. Maybe my expectations were too high; nevertheless, it's not a favorite and I probably won't return.

Amazing atmosphere, loved the cocktail menu, chile relleno was out of this world. Unexpected ingredients, not overly cheesy and stayed crispy on the outside. Creme brûlée trio was delish too! The manager waited on us and he was friendly, knowledgable and prompt. Can't wait to go back!!

So me and my boyfriend went to Limon last night to use our Groupon. It was about 8pm and we sat out on the patio because it was a gorgeous night. We were the only ones out there the entire time which made it very romantic. Our server Lisa was very nice and friendly and very attentive. We started with an appetizer: "Conchas a la parmesana" which is baked scallops with parmesan cheese. It was very tasty. We then had the "Mango verde y langostinos cebiche" which was just awesome. The right amount of sweet and sour with a bit of spiciness. Prawns were a bit scarce but the flavor was excellent. Our entree was "Seco de cordero" (lamb stew) which we shared. The lamb was very tender and flavorful. The stew had an interesting, but delicious taste that I couldn't quite put my finger on. I'd definitely order it again. We shared a bottle of red wine. I don't remember the name but it was a medium bodied wine full of flavor. For desert, we shared the cheesecake which was the perfect ending to our romantic meal. It was creamy and very fresh. I really enjoyed Limon and will visit again.

Last night I had the worst dining experience at Limon. I invited 3 girl friends to dinner on my LivingSocial coupon. What a mistake! The dinner coupon can only be used on Tuesday - Sunday (5pm to 10pm). I advise that you don't go with a coupon on Tuesdays (Girls' Night Out), Wednesdays (HH All Night), or on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of a month (Date Night). The LivingSocial coupon cannot be used in combination with the events or "promotions" on these nights. Unfortunately, this was communicated very untactfully and unprofessionally last night. I presented the coupon before we ordered. It wasn't until we had consumed over $100 of wine and appetizers that I found out I couldn't use the coupon in combination with the Girls' Night Out 1/2-off pricing on wine and apps. The server took my coupon and said she would see what she could do. There was a lot of confusion about splitting the bill (it was split 2 ways across 4 people for whatever reason), and a lot of miscommunicaton about how the the coupon would be applied (at first it was stated that it would come off one of the 2 bills, but then it didn't, and then it couldn't). The staff wasn't proactive about explaining how they were ringing up bill. They'd disappear with the credit cards and come back with little explanation for the charges, which seemed to come out wrong over and over again (based on the Girls' Night Out event pricing, or the application of LivingSocial coupon). During this 90-minute time period, customer service was not good. The staff had trouble looking me in the eye and explaining what was going on, which was uncomfortable. In the end, I paid the entire tab, was unable to use my LivingSocial coupon, and was mortally embarrassed to my friends for putting them through the experience. The next day, the GM called me to find out what went wrong. (He had my phone number from the reservation email I had sent.) I explained the situation, and how I've never come across such a misunderstanding with a Groupon or LivingSocial coupon before--and I've used dozens at restaurants around town. I recommended that the verbiage in "the fine print" could be more explicit about how the coupon could not be used in combination with the calendar of events, promotions, offers, or whatever else. I appreciated his proactive call. It was the right thing to do. Thank goodness LivingSocial granted me a refund on on my unusable coupon. I don't see myself returning to this restaurant for a long time, if ever.

Limon: what happens when you don't make a reservation at Parallel Seventeen on Friday Night. Starved, we stumbled over to Limon two doors down. I kept saying, "I don't like Limon" but I couldn't remember exactly why. The server was... weird. Made a bunch of blunders, and just stared at us all night, except for the 10 minutes after our entrees were delivered, when I couldn't find him to complain that the Mahi was WAY overcooked. Starved, I ate it, and kept my mouth shut. The sauce Charon was delicious, thankfully. Right at 9, their new "jazz club" next door cranked up the music, and our quiet dinner was over. It's meh at best, won't be back.

I have to say this place was really nice, very upscale vibe. I love trying new types of food and culture so this was a treat for me. There were not very many people in the restaurant, but I'm guessing it's usually a lot busier. The service was great, being my first time trying Peruvian food I had a lot of questions and the server was very friendly and helpful. Drinks Great selection of drinks for happy hour. I think they had 4 beers on draft - all excellent beers! I got a Deschutes Amber that was very tasty. My friend ordered a Mojito, which she seemed to really enjoy. They have a large wine list and if wine is your thing you should go on a Monday when all bottles are 50% off. Food I wasn't really sure what I was exactly ordering, but I was feeling adventurous. We split two items off the happy hour menu: Atun tartar y Tabule de cereals andinos (Ahi tuna tar-tar, Andean grain salad with avocado mousse, plantain chips) and Yucca and Plantain chips with Limon salsa. The Tuna Tar-Tar was different than anything I've ever eaten before. It was a mound of packed grains with sushi-grade tuna and a creamy sauce on top. It was delicious and the presentation was beautiful! The Yucca and Plantain chips would be the equivalent to chips and salsa, but very different. The salsa was chunky, not really a sauce at all, but more of a solid. You get two types of chips (Yucca and plantain), both very tasteful and unique. I would definitely recommend Limon's Happy Hour when you're feeling adventurous and up for something a little different. My guess is you will love it and be back again.

OK, so I purchased a groupon for Limon and decided to try this place thinking I had nothing to lose if it was less that good. I made a reservation for 630 and when we arrived we were promptly seated and given menus to look over. After 12 mins I knew the menu by heart because no one came to our table. We were not offered drinks or asked if we had any questions about the menu, but then again why would they since we had studied it and knew it by heart by then! After 12 mins and making eye contact with 2 employees, still no luck, so we left. I can't tell you about the food, but I can tell you to check out my review for Caminito Tango, the place we ended up and were glad we did!!!!

No, no, no. Drinks are fun and delicious- but the tapas sized small plates are so bland and expensive, it's ridiculous. We had high hopes for the Colombian dishes, having spent time in Colombia- and were sorely disappointed. LIMON has such a great concept- South American dishes and cocktails- but if you can't do it well, then don't do it.

I kinda dig this little joint! The service has never lacked...although I have never been there on a busy night. Only having tried shrimp ceviche in the past, I was excited to try their traditional ceviche...which featured seabass. It was really good with a strong citrus flavor. The main courses were selected from our servers recommendations...my brother chose the crispy chile rellenos (which is always my choice at any latin restaurant...dang it, I had to pick something else!) and I had the skirt steak with chimichuri sauce. The steak was a little tough (which, according to my brother, is pretty typical of that cut) but had nice flavor...and the chimichuri sauce was awesome. But, I probably won't order it again...because the relleno had me at hello! It was stuffed with cheese, black beans and corn...and on top was a green banana pancake (the server said that they normally use plantains, but the green bananas are a nice alternate). Jealous...I totally should have ordered the rellenos! I noticed they have GNO on Tuesday nights...which offers half price glasses of wine and appetizers to the ladies. So, a few weeks later, I grabbed one of my favorite gal pals and we headed to Limon after a long day at work. We hashed out our work frustrations over some ceviche, calamari, empanadas and red wine. The calamari was delicious. It had a nice spice to it, but was also coated in sweet coconut. I wasn't too keen on the empanadas...they were a little dry and salty. Not going to stop me from stopping by to try more appetizers...and digging my teeth into some rellenos!

I feel like I need to give this place some credit.. the reviewsI read were quite opposite of what I experienced. We stopped in on a Friday night just looking for desert and coffee (D bar was packed and full of D bags..). Our service was outstanding. We were seated outside on a perfect evening, prompt delivery of our two coffee drinks, the cheesecake was fantastic, our server was very attentive even though we were only ordering desert. Additionally, this older couple was sitting next to us celebrating an anniversary and the chef came out to see how their meal was, and even brought some free desert. I really liked this atmosphere, so when I go back to try the food I'll update this post, but it is definitely a place that has started out on the right foot. First impressions are huge, and this place has me sold already.

I enjoyed Limon, but I can see why some might not. It is a quaint dining spot, perfect for couples on a night out, offering attractive low-lighting and close tables. The food is good. My date and I stuck to seafood which I found to be superb. The rice was appropriately seasoned as well to create a satisfying complement. This was my first exposure to "cebiches" - a Peruvian appetizer type dish wish very lightly cooked meats. I wasn't too impressed with this portion of the meal. Price wise it was about what I expected. I dropped $85 (with tip) on two entrees, an appetizer, a dessert, one coffee, and one mixed drink. Limon is strikingly similar to The Ninth Door in LoDo. If you want to avoid the crowds of the bustling LoDo scene and are looking for a tapas type restaurant, Limon offers a solid option.

DO NOT GO HERE. This restaurant is complete garbage. Avoid at all costs. The wife and I set out to try a new spot and we chose this place because it looked unique, and had a nice ambiance. We were severely disappointed. First we ordered the "Prawns" off the menu as an app. They brought us out 6 minuscule shrimp which were flavorless and completely overcooked. The fact that they advertise prawns and serve tiny frozen shrimp should have made us walk out and leave on the spot, but unfortunately we stayed for dinner. I had the skirt steak, which was a chewy (and cold) piece of meat served with french fries. Not fancy frites, or something like that, just basic McDonalds french fries. My wife had the sea bass. It was also served cold, and uncooked. Not undercooked, but uncooked. Plus it was unseasoned, and disgusting. Not only would I consider this basic, bad steakhouse food, but the portions were tiny, and the bill was outrageous. $75 for the food, and 1 drink each. They advertise fine dining, they deliver school lunch food. I don't write reviews for restaurants because everyone's tastes are different and someone may like something I do not. But this place is so universally bad that I want to help keep everyone away. If you're looking for similar pricing in Denver, and want a good meal, try Root Down, Steubens, Duo, Lola's...........Man I'd recommend Applebees before I'd recommend this disaster. STAY AWAY FROM THIS RESTAURANT.

So my wife and I were in Denver for the weekend looking for housing, and I know the chef (so he says, but he was waiting tables when I was there) so despite the reviews (I never go to a restaurant with less than 3 1/2 stars on Yelp since they usually are a waste of money) I decided to go to support an old friend. Well I thought he was a friend. I figured out that the only reason why he told me he wanted to hang out was to get my wife and I into his restaurant because after we dined I never heard from him after when he was supposed to show us around(just goes to show the values of the staff). I digress, and for fellow Yelpers I assure you this review is not based on my "friend" being an all round jerk. We went for their brunch since we woke up hungry and had plans for Rio Grande later that day. I have never been to Denver before, but after seeing the town for 3 days earlier, I felt that the location of the restaurant was a bit iffy. It looked like it wants to be a high class restaurant in a ghetto neighborhood. It just seems very out of place for the prices on the menu. The interior is nice, but honestly when you go out to eat you are there for the food not the nice wooden chairs or lighting. The menu had a nice assortment of items, but it seemed a bit over priced. I read on the menu that coffee whether it was a cappucino or latte or americano was $4?? I don't even spend that much at Starbucks. My "friend" introduced me and my wife to what appeared to be the owner, but I wasn't sure since he was also waiting tables (which is fine, but I was unsure of his role there). He wasn't very personable and seemed too busy talking with the table next to us who he knew, than to see if we had ever been there before or what might be good on the menu. I had the arepas and chorizo "biscuits and gravy" with potato and poblano hash, and my wife had the yogurt and oatmeal. We also ordered the raisin and sweet potato empanadas, but my "friend" forgot them and never brought them out. Tip: If you don't use a pen and paper to take orders you better have a good memory. The food was just OK. Nothing to write home about. The arepas and chorizo were almost room temperature, not hot so I knew it had been sitting there for a minute, and I couldn't tell where the chorizo came into play. There wasn't any pieces of chorizo in the gravy or on the plate, and I couldn't taste it so I have no clue why it's in the description. The cheese on the arepas had a film on it from sitting there so that's also how I knew it had been waiting for a minute. The potato hash was not seasoned properly and was sort of bland. My wife's yogurt and oatmeal was overpriced and nothing special. Getting a coffee refill was almost impossible, and when we did get a refill my cup was only half full and my wife's wasn't refilled because they had to make more coffee. Its a brunch people?? Why don't you have coffee continually brewing? I didn't even think about getting more water because they were so unorganized running around everywhere. I tried to feign interest in the business for the sake of my "friend", so when the "owner" came around to our table I said that for their first day doing this that they had a good turn out (it was their first day for Brunch). The "owner" evidently thought that I was an idiot and told me that they had been cooking for years. He didn't understand that I was commenting on the fact that their first day doing Brunch they had a good turn out. He sounded very condescending with his response and that was enough to make me never want to come back. They were definitely understaffed as there was just the two of them waiting tables, running food, cleaning tables, and showing guests to their seat. At one point in time I saw a family and the mother was pregnant come in. It took almost 5-10 min for them to be seated when there were plenty of tables open. If I were that husband I would have walked out simply because they made my pregnant wife wait that long to sit down. I felt bad for them because they waited very patiently. This is a poorly managed restaurant. If they aren't properly staffed at 11:00am how is the service during dinner?? We loved Denver and will be moving there in the near future, and I had been warned that Denver's restaraunt scene isn't as developed as Chicago but is growing. This establishment seems to be one of the ones I was warned about. Overpriced, pretentious, and a bad value. I would not recommend this restaurant even if my "friend" hadn't done what he did. It's just not worth spending your hard earned money.

We ended up here on a Monday evening dog walk. Our original plan was to have a drink at St. Mark's/Thin Man, but it was far too boisterous over on that side of 17th for our skittish dog. So we wandered over to Limon because we had noticed it looked really inviting, but only 1 other couple was seated outside on the patio. As we were looking at the menu posted outside, an off-duty server came out to greet us and asked if we had any questions. Since I inquired about beer and she didn't know the list offhand, she brought the bar tender out to answer our questions. They were both super pleasant and eager to host both us and our dog, who we tied to the outside of the fenced in patio area next to our table. They immediately gave her a bowl of water. We ordered an amber beer of some sort and a Mojito - both were super. They came to check on us and chit-chat, but not excessively. Later my boyfriend ordered a dirty martini, which i'm told was "pretty damn good". We didn't order any food, and although the veggie-friendly options were at first glance limited, the bar tender took a moment to go over the menu with me and tell me which items could be revised to suit me. There is plenty to choose from. I will definitely be back for more drinks and food, probably as soon as this weekend.

If I could've given zero stars I would have! My wife and I go out to eat all the time and this is by far THE WORST RESTAURANT we've EVER been to (without a close second)! We really love the 9th door downtown and imagined this place to be somewhat similar with small plates and all...the concept they describe sounds great, but execution is HORRIBLE! Let's start with the service...we walked in on Saturday night at 8PM and there were only 3 other tables seated...should've been our first sign to leave!!! With that being said, the waitress didn't come to greet us for at least 5 minutes, and after glaring around we finally got some service. Throughout our dinner, it was slow, and the waitress flat out lied to our face about the food! The food (which is most important)...I repeat...worst EVER!! We asked the waitress about the calamari, which had a fantastic description on the menu, and she said it was awesome, so we ordered it. Wow...worst calamari ever...small pieces, BURNED to hell, and their definition of making it spicy and "coated" in coconut is to sprinkle red pepper and flavorless coconut flakes on top!!! A 5 year old could make that!!! We should've left then...but we made a mistake of staying! Oh, and when we complained about the calamari, the waitress asked if we want her to bring us MORE??? Is this a joke??? Next item..."ceviche"...notice the quotation marks. We lived on the east coast and had good ceviche, this was a bunch of fish and veggies cut up (way too largely cut) and dumped in vinegar and lime juice!!! This was so acidic both my wife and I had heartburn after two bites!!! NO FLAVOR at all....correction....only the flavor of vinegar and lime juice! HORRIBLE! Yet still...stupid us...we ordered one more thing...fish tacos. Best thing we had, while still HORRIBLE! Way too much vinegar and lime, overpowering anything else on the plate! In summary...biggest waste of 50 bucks ever!!! I'd rather eat at Wendy's next time. If you're ever interested in trying what the worst food you'll ever have tastes like, make your way to Limon immediately!! Otherwise, stay away as far as possible.

We really enjoy Limon. It's close by and we're able to share lots of little appetizer plates. We like the beef sopes and the corn/bean empanadas best, but their ceviche is not bad (thought it's a bit tangy and strange), their plantains are acceptable, and their ham croquettes are ok. Their drinks on the weekend are very good, and you can share pitchers of sangria for very reasonable prices (their drinks during the week are not as good - there is hardly anyone in there and they staff their bar with waiters). Our waiters are always really good, and several of them are very friendly (which I haven't found much of in Denver so far). Although most of their desserts are not good (the chocolate cake was nearly inedibly dry), their creme brulee is spectacular. This place can be pricey if you order their entrees (which we've only done once), but you can have a reasonably priced meal if you share apps, pitchers and desserts. I probably wouldn't drive to come eat there, but if you're in the neighborhood, I would ignore some of the awful reviews (I'm not saying they're not valid - I'm just saying that this place has on nights as well), and try it for yourself like we did.

My boyfriend and I went here recently and I am sorry to say that this is the worst restaurant we have ever been to together. This was a special night for us, and we thought that we could go out and use a groupon we bought a while ago for a nicer occasion than just the "normal date night." We experienced *very* long wait times like others have said on this thread. The food was unremarkable at best, the drinks were the only saving grace of the dinner. We were both joking about skipping dinner (since it was taking so long to get any sort of service)- to walk over to d bar a block down the street and just get dessert. We should have just done that. There were not very many people in the restaurant when we went on a week night, and every component of our service was incredibly slow- except when the (HIGH!) bill was presented. We only had our water filled once, at the end of dinner when he brought the bill- but our glasses sat empty except for the ice through our most of our entrée for both of us. Now, of course we saw the prices when we ordered and we can do math, so no fault with being surprised the total of the bill - however, what is shocking is that we expected a much better experience for the $70 price tag we had on our 1 app. 2 entrees, and 1 drink each. When we presented our Groupon the server said "oh you have a groupon" almost in a "you're being cheap" kind of a tone. The groupon was the only reason we went there in the first place, and if they are going to be snide in tone about groupons being presented, then they should not have done a groupon promotion in the first place, and we could have saved ourselves from this experience.

My second trip to a restaurant called Limon in less than 2 weeks. Granted, the other Limon is in SF, but it's still Peruvian like this one. (Did Peruvian restaurants run out of names? What gives?) We came in here just to get some pisco sours, but it was totally dead at 8pm on a Thursday. I guess that wasn't normal. The bartender/waiter was kinda slow and we waited a long time even though we were the only ones at the bar. I think this place would be good for a happy hour or a quick dinner if you're in the area. It's a cool vibe and the drinks were tasty . That's all I really care about. (LUSH!!! jk. ...sorta...)

I generally like South American restaurants and tend to be more forgiving of food quality as a result. With Limon, I'm not too sure how forgiving I can be. Sure, the food was fine, but you don't want fine in a restaurant with such high prices. If the restaurant isn't good, you want it to go down flaming. You want them to take chances and try something that hasn't been tried before Limon falls far short of taking risk. They accept bland, call it something that sounds more flavorful, and serve it up for a high price. There are far better options in town, both in this price range and in South American food. One plus side - their caipirinhas are damn good.

I went here this weekend and have mixed things to say. First, the atmosphere and decor were nice. The service was very friendly and helpful (our waitress helped me navigate my food allergy). The caipirinha I ordered was good, and strong. The scallop appetizer was very very tasty. My husband got the sea bass cebiche and it was also delicious. I also sampled a potato cake dish (they are called "causa"). Maybe it just wasn't what I was expecting (more like potato mash cut into wedges--I was expecting something shredded or stuffed), but I wouldn't order that again. I also got the chicken kebob appetizer it it was just "eh." The plantain chips were not much to speak of either. So, some very good, some not so good, but a nice place to be overall. Add to that the fact that the portions are small and the prices high, and I have to give them three stars.

This place has decent food and friendly wait staff, but it is overpriced. Ordering is confused since each entree has two portion sizes: half sized which is way overpriced, and full-sized entree that is still too much for what you get or what goes into it. If your into the hipster-Peruvian food then I guess this is your place, its just not mine.

We bought the groupon for this place since it is in our area. i thought the food was good the portion could have been bigger since it said the actual value was $60. the wine was good, a full sangia and two nice pours of wine for the other glasses. the service was nice and friendly.

I've been twice and my experience was great both times. Honestly I was surprised by the negative reviews, which seem legit. Won't stop me from going back because I love the Pisco Sour and the food seemed cheap to me. But like I mention the bad reviews are odd to me. Mostly because I am very critical of restaurants and I really haven't found anything to dislike about Limon.

This place is really close to my house... and it has a great happy hour. I decided to try it even though the reviews were SO bad. I have nothing but good things to say about this place. They have happy hour until 7--even on Saturdays. The scallop appetizer was very good. The sweet potato appetizer was different, but very tasty and the sea bass cehiche was excellent. We had a nice waiter who answered all of our questions. They have a great patio and the interior of the restaurant is very cute and welcoming. I do not understand all the horrible reviews of this place. I totally recommend it.

I went here with a group one night, and although the food was good, the service was the worst I have ever experienced. Our entire table went 3+ hours without a single refill on water. When we got the check, it got ridiculous. I have never been treated that way in a restaurant; she was incredibly rude. Regarding us asking to split the check onto a few credit cards, with amounts specified, she said, "Just watch how long this takes me!" Really?? The restaurant was pretty much empty besides us, but apparently she would have rather made no money that night. Oh, and a 20% tip was included, so she knew she could treat us poorly and we couldn't do anything about it.

I went specifically for the tres leches which I had a while back when they first opened, and I thought it was amazing. Since then, they've changed. For the worse! The host, Alex, argued with me whether I had a reservation, then when I proved it on my smartphone, he said that he accepted it on his phone and basically said it wasn't reliable. The Pisco Sour was NOT sour, and the Tres Leches was more like banana bread soup. We also had the Ropa Vieja, calamari, and snapper tacos. The tacos weren't bad but the other stuff was just simply overpriced.

We were going to go to P17 for Happy Hour, but noticed Limon when we pulled up and decided to try it, since we had already been to P17 for happy hour, and Limon is right next door. We decided to sit at the bar and even though it was Friday evening, the place was pretty empty. We ordered some drinks and the bartender was accommodating, as we requested margaritas made without the sweet and sour mix. The drinks were good, but my margarita glass was swimming in salt on the side. Waaaaaay too much salt on the glass-looked really sloppy. We decided to stick to the appetizer menu, as it was on the happy hour priced menu. The chips/salsa plate had great yucca and plantain chips, but not enough of the salsa-teeny tiny little ramekin, maybe 4oz. at most. Then we ordered the potato stack, but that ended up just being super bland and I remember commenting that I regretted being so hungry because I don't have the best tasting judgment when I'm starving. Finally, we decided to try dessert-a true test of a place. We ordered the apple/caramel/cheesecake type thing. It was pretty good-you could tell the dulce de leche was made in-house, but the cheesecake itself was very dry. Overall, I'd say we will probably not return. It wasn't bad, per se, but it wasn't stellar and there are so many more amazing eateries in this town where I'd rather spend my hard earned money.

I first went to Limon for dinner, when it opened in 2006. At the time, it was very busy and both the food and the service were good. For some reason, we never went back, though, probably because it was also a bit expensive. I had forgotten about the place until a friend with a Groupon invited me there last night. This time, it was happy hour and although the place was rather empty early on, more people came as the night progressed. I found the service to be helpful and very good- my water glass was never empty. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and have nothing to complain about, but the place somehow doesn't wow me. It seems sort of quiet and lacking in any excitement. That is great for an initimate dinner or conversation and it is definitely comfortable and welcoming, but I don't know that I would make a special effort to go back.

we're new in town and saw that Limon had been written up in a local paper (forget which) so tried it last Friday. It was a disappointment, but happy to say the first one since moving here. Limon is quite simply over priced for what it offers. We had the potato cake shrimp sandwich for an appetizer. As I bit into it for the first time I experienced a whole lot of nothingness. Very bland... and there were only two shrimps on the entire thing. I had the a beef dish that was described as being "infused" with sun dried tomato. Basically it was an average tasting filet (a bit on the mushy side) and I don't remember tasting any sun dried tomato at all. The best part of the dish were the vegetables it came with. My wife ordered the other beef dish (medallions). Basically, it was okay, but tasted like they had used a McKormick chili seasoning bag for the sauce. Don't get me wrong, the food wasn't bad, but it certainly wasn't good either. The server was a bit flighty and not terribly attentive. Add to that the prices and we're down to two stars.

My boyfriend and I walked into Limon at 9pm this past Sat and were seated right away. Neither of us had been there before but we had the groupon. I wasn't hungry or in the mood for a drink at the time, but the groupon was going to expire and we thought we could go for some appetizers. I ended up getting a drink - the Ron-Yki-On and WOW! It was perfect. Served in a martini glass, not too sweet, not too sour, and just the right amount of alcohol for a warm buzz but not put me to sleep during the midnight movie we were heading to later. He had a couple of beers. We decided to order entrees instead of apps. I had the Conchas de quinoa tostado and he had the Carne de Cerdo. Both very delicious. Modest portion sizes, so I wouldn't go starving, and a bit pricy. We also shared a dessert - Manjar Blanco y Coco Pastel - described on the menu as dark chocolate cake with carmelized milk and lavender whipped cream. But this was no ordinary chocolate cake - crumbly and gooey fudginess with a kick of cayenne. Loved it! We were pleasantly surprised by this place and will definitely be going back to try more of the menu and have drinks.

I have visited Peru with my Peruvian college roommate and learned a lot about what makes Peruvian food great. When I found Limon - after Piscos closed - I was elated. The ceviche, the pisco sour, the caipirinha (which is technically Brazillian), Atun Tacu Tacu, and the Peruvian Paella dish all were very close to what I remember about my best meals and drinks in Peru. The staff was friendly, not rushed, and made excellent recommendations. Sure, its expensive (for a broke college student) but totally where I might want to have my second to last meal.

Nice looking little place with food that doesn't quite live up to the expectations of a higher-end restaurant. The ahi tartar with guacamole mouse was decent, as was the lomo saltado (wok-prepared beef, tomatoes, onions, potatoes cooked in soy-sauce), but both of these dishes left me thinking I've certainly had much better. I actually thought the seafood paella tasted kind of peculiar, and I don't care much for their ceviche, which seems like a hard food not to like (or to prepare well). Also, they put the tables-for-two wayyyyy too close together - not a big deal in a normal setting, but it's a little hard to enjoy the romantic candlelit atmosphere when you're practically on top of the couple next to you.

My husband and I used a Living Social deal for brunch this week and it was UNBELIEVABLE! The mimosas were the best I've had in a long time, just the right amount of good champagne and fresh OJ. They were bottomless and I never got close to seeing the bottom of mine! Excellent service, and the food was amazing. I have Celiac's so it's really nice to find a place where 90% of the menu is gluten free. They use corn for almost everything. I had the Eggs Havana which were amazing, the beef was super tender and the poblano hash was so good, and my husband had the tamales which were just as good. I can't wait to go back and try dinner! I highly recommend checking this place out.

As the second stop on a sort of culinary world adventure, I really wanted to like the Peruvian offering at Limon but sadly, our dinner fell short. We ordered the coconut shrimp for our appetizer--a very generous serving of 6 shrimp pieces on a bed of rice. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. The dish was topped with a lime aioli sauce, which added nice flavor. Eager to sample a variety of Peruvian fare, we order 3 tapas-size servings: Quinotto de hongos de Montana (quinoa and vegetables), Seco de cordero (lamb stew), Arroz con Mariscos (Peruvian Paella). The entrees were served while we were still eating the coconut shrimp appetizer--poor timing is a peeve of mine at upscale restaurants--which the server attributed it to an efficient kitchen. The lamb stew was a huge disappointment--the stew contained more potatoes than pieces of tough and chewy lamb. And the dish was absent of any remarkable or outstanding flavor. While better than the lamb stew, the Peruvian paella was another disappointment in that it lacked flavor. The paella was served with 2 mussels, 2 pieces of shrimp and 1 scallop. Sea bass was nowhere to be found. The winner of the night was the quinoa dish--a nice and flavored pairing of cotija cheese, roasted red peppers, spinach, mushrooms, and quinoa. For 1 appetizer, 3 entrees (tapas-size servings), and 2 glasses of wine, our bill came to $70. Limon should've offered a more memorable and pleasing dining experience for that price.

Disappointed with the food unfortunately. Everything was bland and not very exciting. The descriptions sounded so good and then what was on the plate did not meet expectations set by the beautifully-worded menu. I got the ceviche (which was the best out of everything we had), black bean soup and the bass. The service was great however, and they have a good wine selection. Maybe just go for happy hour?

My happy hour app lead us to Limon for $5 Margaritas. When we ordered the happy hour margarita we were asked if we were 'ok with the happy hour size?'. The waitress explained their happy hour margaritas were smaller than the regular priced margaritas. Really? Then call it a small margarita for a smaller price, don't call it happy hour. We continued our meal with some happy hour apps. They were OK but very little food. The service was slow and we were asked twice if we 'had a voucher'. I guess they do a lot of groupon business. Really cute place but probably wont be back.

I've only eaten at Limon' once and I've been wanting to go back ever since. It's a little pricy for the portions you get, but the food is delicious! I pulled up their website and found the dish I ordered, "Seco de cordero tender lamb stew prepared in a traditional Peruvian style with black beer, cilantro and aji Amarillo. Served with garlic rice and salsa criolla." It was absolutely amazing! Coupled with one of Limon's 10 Cane Mojitos, it's an experience worth passing on. Parking, as with almost any downtown Denver establishment, is somewhat difficult so be prepared to walk a block or two during "peak" hours.

This place flat out SUCKS! Wanted to try it for a long time, cause it seemed cool. Went to dinner with a friend. I had the ceviche, which literally tasted like dirty, pine sol impregnated, mop water, or at least what I'd imagine dirty mop water to taste like. It was accompanied by the most stale and tasteless banana chips or plantains. Whatever they were, they ate like cardboard. My friend had something equally horrible, and also had a mojito which consisted mostly of flat soda water and sugar. Yuk! Normally I tell people to try a place out, since tastes do differ, however if you like this place you've just been released from Gitmo after 5 years of bread and water, or you've sustained some sort of brain damage that has rendered your taste buds defective.

Wow, Denver has changed a lot since I lived there back in 2002. Sure, there was always upscale, delicious and hip dining downtown, but that concept is pretty new to this neighborhood. So score one for Limon! The food is good. I had the traditional beef stew (made with beer), which was like a 3 out of 5 stars as it was pretty bland. My parents' dishes were incredible though; my dad would barely share his fish dish with me, and my mom's pork dish was fantastic. (Okay, Dad did share. I could tell he didn't want to but he did anyway.) The ceviche is okay. The problem is, it's hard to beat the ceviche at Fresca in SF, so nothing will ever compare favorably for me. But still, it was decent. I liked the atmosphere too. The only problem was that the server kept coming back ad nauseum to see if everything was okay. Like literally, every eight minutes. My mom, bless her heart, said that was because he was coming to check me out. That's sweet mom, but those days are long over! (But you can keep believing, it's okay.)

I made reservations online for date night for 4, for my husband and my sister and her husband visiting from Washington D.C. Limon replied back online. When we got there, they did not have our reservations and refused to honor the date night deal. I asked for the manager and they said he wasn't there and was told he was the one who said "No date night tonight." We went ahead and ordered 2 appetizers-plantain and calamari-both with sauces that were quite good. The Chlie Sea Bass melted in your mouth and the marinated wok fried beef was tasty, but the skirt steak and chimicurri was better with 2 excellent sauces. I forgot to take pictures b/c I was so taken aback of how we were treated initially. Waiter was hauty about the situtation. I also had a LivingSocial coupon and he said I couldnt use that in conjunction with date night. I said, "But you arent honoring date night!" So he relented and took the coupon. Drinks were really good, not watered down or too strong. Everyone really enjoyed the food. The 3 pot creme brulee we all split and was a yummy dessert. They gave us 2 coupons for free drinks or appetizers for next time, but weither they will honor that when the time comes is a mystery. This was my 50th birthday dinner, by the way!

Five sisters converging in Denver chose Limón because the menu sounded interesting and because the restaurant was participating in the "Angel Heart" benefit program for providing meals to homebound patients. The drinks from S.A. countries were a bit sweet and off on the spices, so they acknowledged our suggestions and remade the drinks to our satisfaction. The Ceviche and Crispy Chile Rellenos were the outstanding choices of the several items we ordered, while the chowder could use more zip. The seafood used in all items was fresh and nicely done, the tres leches was unique and delicious. Service and ambiance were great if a bit noisy, request Ian #2 as your server!

I went over to Limon for dinner the other night with my brother. It was a Tuesday, and we were one of about 3 or 4 other tables there. The ambiance is great, I think this place would be nice for a romantic date. Very cozy. Our server, it turned out, was either one of, or the, manager. Needless to say, we had great service, he was really professional (but was also friendly and chatty when my brother started a conversation about liquors with him after we finished dinner). We got the Pisco Sours as well, because they were half price for Tuesday nights. I had never tasted one before, and thought it was interesting- a nice change of pace, because sometimes I get tired of ordering the same old drinks. Uh, for the record, I have not been to Peru, so My experience of the food is not really going to be really concerned with the 'Peruvian authenticity' that several of the other reviews are. We got some spicy prawns on cilantro rice for an appetizer. It was tasty, but not astounding. My brother ordered a beef and tomato plate, which he enjoyed. I got a seafood plate with a fried fritter. My brother's portion was pretty large, and mine was a very normal size portion for a nice restaurant. Actually, it was nice because you can finish the plate without feeling totally stuffed full. I thought my dinner was pretty tasty, I would order it again in the future if there were not other things on the menu which I also wanted to try. Oh, as a plus- I don't eat meat, but I do eat seafood, and I was pretty excited about the large selection entrees that were seafood, like other restaurants. My only star-subtractor is because it is pricey. Nice place, but I can think of comparable places (ambiance/service/food-wise) that are cheaper. It was a nice dinner though, great service.

This past Saturday, I planned a dinner for my close friend, and chose Limon. I called last Tuesday for the reservation, and thought my name was in. A few days later, one of the others called to ask if we could bring in a cake, and they didn't even have the reservation. We were re-established; she was told a cake would be no problem. We arrived at the restaurant, I told the manager that we had a few that couldn't make it, and I hoped it wasn't a problem. He told it actually was a huge inconvenience. Fifteen minutes later, we were finally seated- the solution had been to remove a two top- not exactly fifteen minutes worth of work. The restaurant was nowhere near capacity. We ordered dinner; the food was mediocre at best. I had the risotto, which completely lacked flavor. When it came time for the cake, they brought it out, totally unlit. It was supposed to be a surprise. They finally lit them, and she blew out the candles. They took it back to the kitchen and served us 7 pieces. The check was brought, and there was a $20 Open Food charge. When we inquired, we were told it was the fee to use their plates and forks- don't they own those? The waiter said it would be removed, but instead, the manager, the first man I had dealt with, came over and informed us he would not remove the charge, and that he thought it was totally acceptable that the fee was charged to us, that it was standard. I have never heard of doing this! We told him we would never come back, and he said, "fine, don't bother." We finally paid the incredibly high bill, and walked out. It took an extra 30 minutes since the waiter had ignored us upon this all occurring. The one saving grace was the incredibly nice bar manager, Timothy. Oh yes, and the manager is the owner! I have never heard of an owner being so horrendous. I would never set foot in this place again. They are rude and inconsiderate to customers, and the food quality does not match the prices they charge. Spend your money elsewhere!

They have a nice list of unique cocktails and a good wine list... Speaking of the wine list: they do half off bottles on Wednesdays. The food was all very well prepared and had lots of good spice! Let me recommend that you save room for desert. They banana tres leches is one of the best things i have ever tasted!

We have been to Limon twice with Groupons. Last time we had a wonderful dinner. We opted for small plates this time. My husband had a bowl of soup and he said it was outstanding. I had the spinach salad with jalapeno dressing. It had halved grapes in it and it was fresh and delicious. We had Ahi Tuna, shrimp, and several other plates. For dessert we chose the 3 choices of ice cream. One was caramel and it was so good. Presentation was perfect and service was excellent. They have a happy hour until 7:00 p.m. $5 glasses of house white or red wine and small plates discounted. We will definitely be back.

We all like to go out to eat, no? Try new places, have new experiences. Six of us went to Limon for dinner. We shared 8 entrees and honestly thought that everything we ordered except the chili rellano, which was way too spicy, was good. Nothing spectacular but again, good. And, the service we received was excellent and it was reflected in the generous tip. What is not good and why none of us would ever return or recommend Limon, is that fact that they waaaay overcharge for meager portions of alleged "tapas" style plates. A few tiny plates and a big, fat bill, do not equal a pleasant dining experience.

Stopped in on an amazon local deal ($22 for $40). (always tip on the original bill, folks!) Service: 5/5, friendly, patient, helpful, and attentive. Cleanliness: 5, no sticky tables or grotty bathrooms here! Atmosphere: 4 but empty on a Saturday night. It looks like the last one on that busy strip of 17th, which probably hurts business. Maybe they could draw more of a crowd if they offered a craft beer sampler or specials on a bottle of wine. I didn't try any of their fancy cocktails (full bar! Extensive tequila selection!) this time, but the list looked solid. We ordered iced tea, house guacamole and chips, shrimp ceviche, pork tacos, and the creme brulée, all for $40. It was all fresh and tasted okay. Honestly, I don't know if I'm spoiled in the bay, but the food, especially the guacamole and pork, could've used a little more kick. Not necessarily heat, but flavor in general. Then again, I hear there are people in some places (cough Ohio) that love bland food... I understand that tapas = full price for half plates, but those half plates should be your pride and joy, not mediocre filler - use some spices, marinades, citrus and maybe even burn it a little! If we hadn't had a deal, it would have felt like a ripoff. I don't know what people think this place is doing wrong to be so empty. Come out and support them! And Limon, please add some flavor and drink specials. Look at the competition next door.

Surprised that the entire inside of the restaurant was empty on a Wednesday at 6 pm. We sat on the patio with 2 other tables. Others showed up after 7. Ordered El Diablo and Mojito el Piña both tasty and refreshing but a little expensive at $10 each. Also tried the red and white sangrias at $7 each. Both good and flavorful. White was peachy, red was a little spicy but sweet. Didn't see happy hour mentioned anywhere. Started with ceviche and guac. Guac: not fresh. Thin film of brown on top. Good ingredients but not the best flavor. Ceviche: great combo of veggies and flavoring but missing any other fish besides shrimp. Served with good tortilla chips. Entree shared crispy rellenos. One relleno on a plate with Spanish rice that was meh. And a salty tangy slaw. Flavors of the relleno were Excellent! That would have been enough food for me (shared with husband) but he was still hungry. So we ordered beef empanadas as well. Same slaw and rice on the side with 3 e's. A little greasy but very good. Ask for more of the green sauce. Overall is a nice change of pace and good place to try several South American flavors in one sitting.

Got a Groupon for this place and I am SO glad I did so. It was an amazing experience with delicious food. Definitely deserves more than three stars. We started with a couple of beers (the craft draft selection wasn't what I'm used to at most CO restaurants) which were reasonably priced considering they weren't on happy hour. The menu is separated by country of origin: Central America, South American, and the Caribbean. The food is Tapa style (READ: smaller plates that restaurants like to charge as full plates because of the fancy name haha) so we ordered four dishes. First off were the Potato and Ham Croquettes...we felt like the potatoes needed additional seasonings because they tasted slightly bland. I don't recommend them. Next, we ordered the Black Bean and Corn Empanadas which were great! I specifically enjoyed the jalepeno crema that was used to top them (next time I would order a small side of that sauce to dip them in!) After, we got the Potatoes Portaviejo which were also delicious. They included a chorizo-tasting sausage, potatoes, and red peppers. The sauce that the dish was bathed in (likely salty fatty residual deliciousness from the sausage) was what tied everything together. Last, we got the Shepard Tacos. These were SO GOOD. Seriously, I'm still fantasizing about them a little over a week later. They came with a delicious pico that really put the icing on the cake Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 (kudos-- he mentioned he was a new server and he did an incredible job!) Ambience: 5/5 (great date night spot) Price: 4/5 (A slight $1-2 decrease per plate would really do the restaurant well. Other than that, the Groupon/happy hour pricing is a great way to go!) Very accommodating to my food allergies! The food was good, but the portions were on the small side. Limon wasn't very crowded. We had the dining room to ourselves and there were a few folks outside. We were kind of surprised it wasn't busier as there was nothing wrong with our dining experience (except maybe price). I liked the restaurant more than my date! Haha.

Well a nice enough place I've driven by it a few time and was all ways interested in coming in . Decided to get together this new years eve with four or my good friends and girlfriend. From the time we walked into the restraunt we were told that we only have an hour and a half to eat and be on our way. (note there was a reservation made) One of my friends made a comment to out waitress. She seemed to justify why it was ok that we were told that. Apparently the guy at the door was/is the owner. Odd to be told that by the owner. Felt rather unwelcome from the time we walked in. Let's hope the food is better than the service so far... Food was good I would come back for the food. However I won't be back due to the staff handling of customers.

I definitely think it is worth more than 3 stars. Ambience - A restaurant with a quiet intimate setting, great for dates or small groups. My group of 10 went there and I was thinking, "Crap, we are going to ruin the dates around us with our noise." The restaurant also had to call in extra help to serve our large group. Food - My group ordered almost everything on the menu. Two dishes that stuck out were the meatballs and calamari. Please order the meatballs. I think I had three servings of them just because it was delicious. The sauce covering the meatballs was made to perfection and the meatballs was a little crispy on the outside as I think it was slightly baked. The calamari was also amazing. Even though the servings was small for the price, I thought that the taste compensated for it. The steak fries was meh, nothing good about it. Dessert - I was already bloated after all the tapas, but everyone has an extra tummy for dessert. I think I have two stomachs for dessert. We had the cheesecake and the margarita sorbet. I would not recommend the cheesecake because it was not any special compared to the margarita sorbet. I have never had that AMAZING sorbet. I could taste the margarita taste in it and the sorbet was extremely soft that it melted immediately inside my mouth. I would go back for their margarita sorbet. Yummy !

Limón is a "tapas" style restaurant... It was my second time there, once for lunch and this time for dinner. The decor is thoughtful, the ambience is nice, the menu is broad and the food presentation is good... That said, I felt the service was adequate (our server was eating her dinner in plain sight at the bar) and the dishes were overpriced (we shared 4 dishes, totaling $46, and the portions were quite small). The Med in Boulder is a good example of a similar calibre restaurant that is priced more appropriately. It's not bad, but it's not a good value and I would definitely not recommend it.

It had been a couple years since we last stopped at Limon', so I wasn't certain what to expect. We stopped in on a lark to use a Groupon that was about to expire and neither of us was disappointed. The food was very tasty (the calamari was a bit bland) and we were very satisfied with the portions (the Groupon included three (3) plates, we ordered four (4)). When we return it will be during the spring/summer/fall time frame so we can enjoy the outdoor seating.

Were greeted, checked in, and seated right away. Our server, Summer, was very friendly, efficient and fast. I liked the cozy decor and the place was very vibrant. We had a Groupon and gave it to her right away and she immediately suggested what wines they had. We chose a red and white wine for our meal. This restaurant serves small plates (tapas). Chose one Central America dish-Pork Picadillo Tamale, $10, one South American dish-Skirt Steak & Chimichurri, $14 and one Caribbean dish-Slow-Roasted Shredded Beef (Ropa Vieja), $13. All of them were quite tasty, especially the Skirt Steak & Chimichurri, which was a really good portion. We ended the meal with the Banana Tres Leches with one Americano coffee and a double expresso. It was very tasty. Even though we had a great experience, I would only come here for Happy Hour or if I had a Living Social or Groupon deal. The prices were a little expensive without a coupon.

Was excited by the menu posted outside and the price seemed right...until the waitress mentioned they were a tapas restaurant. Food and atmosphere are ok. Prices are outrageous! $12 for 4 incredibly overboiled and super tough shrimp - recommended by the waitress! $8 for 3 tiny tacos (just ok, the "roasted" garlic was very crunchy and raw) $8 for 3 decent meatballs (but it is hard to mess up a meatball) We started off with a beer and these three plates. A few meager bites later, we are out $42 and out the door. If we had both had a real dinner there, I imagine the bill would have been 3x that. I'm up for laying down $60 on a meal, when the food is incredible, imaginative and/or just straight up delicious. Obviously, Limon missed the mark on the latter but it totally fine sticking you with the former. TL;DR: $$$$$$, Gives tapas a bad name

I think many tapas places are overrated, and Limón is one of them. Yet, I keep trying different tapas because when you find a great one, its all worth it. We had shepherd tacos, plantains, calamari, dick confit, 2 crispy rellenos, and shrimp ceviche. All were just average...but ghe size of the tapas was smaller than an average small plate, and way more costy. Our bill was over $100, yet we still left hungry. Is that possible after 7 tapas dishes? Wow. I think our bill would've been over $130 but we got most of our tapas and mojitos at happy hour price. Rob

Three of us just had tapas at Limón and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. We ordered Guacamole , white fish tacos, spicy meatballs and calamari. Each was just right for the three of us to share. The calamari was exceptional. Before writing this I read a couple of reviews that complained about price and feeling rushed. We didn't experience either of those issues. We finished with creme brule for three. Each dish was around $8.50 and shared three ways, so not too expensive.

"Latin American restaurant? Well you can't fool real Latinos! Or even if you are familiar with how Latin American foods are supposed to taste like. It was severely overpriced for tiny portions. We had the shrimp ceviche, lomo saltado, and the chipotle meatballs. They were all ok, but certainly not authentic nor worth the price. I don't know if it was just that night's blunder, but the pisco sour was AWFUL. Couldn't even finish it; it tasted like laundry water. Service was pretty good, there was only one girl serving all the tables. Overall, atmosphere was ok, (I wish they had played Latin music instead of weird indie/hard rock), food was not bad but certainly not worth the bill, and service was pretty good. I'd recommend this place if you're looking for someplace new to eat and are not familiar with good/authentic Latin American food, but other than that I'd probably go elsewhere for Latin American food.

Had a TravelZoo coupon with a fixed price AND fixed meal. The food was good and contrary to what the waitress said and other reviews, the portions were generous for tapas! We didn't order extra or leave hungry. I would go back just for dessert! I had the creme brulee trio (paid extra to the deal but totally worth it) and my boyfriend had the spicy chocolate ice cream. The wine menu options seemed okay but the one we got was a really good estate and paired with our food exceptionally well. Salad was meh, soup was yum. Entrees had great flavor. Overall, food was really good and we would return even at full price as it is comparable to other trendy places. Finally though, our waitress seemed annoyed the whole night. I know we were there on a Tuesday night (totally dead and there was a friend's baby there) but we tried to chat but she obviously just wanted to get out of there. Even though she was cheery and smiling, it was so very fake. Oh! And parking is easy enough; it's downtown street parking but no meters and more (competing) restaurants are moving in so I think the tapas style is perfect for the area so you can hop around and try things. Side streets could use more lighting though but overall I felt safe after 9pm.

I had a really nice dinner with my friend Jennyfer we shared 3 different plates and a dessert, I was completely full. I highly recommend the Crispy Chile Relleno black beans, raisins, corn, cotija cheese -$10. Also, the Wok Fried Beef (LOMO SALTADO) aji Amarillo, onions, tomatoes, house fries, garlic rice-$14, was really filling. The cuts of beef though it took a while to come out were super tender and the presentation made me say Yippy! Though it wasn't packed on our visit the space isn't extremely large so reservations are suggested. Our bill was less then $60 for 3 different plates, dessert, and two house glasses of wine. My wife and I ate at Limon last night. There is no parking lot, but it was easy to find a place on the street in a short walking distance. The ambiance is good with dark woods and black paint -- the focus is on the person at your table. The waiter was prompt, attentive, and friendly. They converted recently to a tapas (small plates) menu and we enjoyed both the idea of multiple small dishes as well as the execution. It's obvious there is a chef rather than a cook in the back because the dishes represented unusual flavor combinations and textures. They were all nicely executed. We had a pork tamale dish (very small example of the breed), coconut and chile calamari (fair to good), skirt steak and chimichurri (very tasty, but be aware that it is skirt steak and not tenderloin), crispy chile relleno (excellently done -- unusual flavors melded). Presentation was uniformly good. For dessert, we tried the Dark Chocolate ice cream (a touch of cinnamon - ole!) and the flan (the best I've had anywhere). I agree that some dishes were too oily -- perhaps the deep fryer needs to be a little hotter? While it's true that prices are $$, but the restaurant is a nice change of pace. My wife and I will be returning and introducing the place to some friends.

This was our first visit for dinner using a $35 Travel Zoo coupon for 4 small plates and 2 desserts. They were located near Parallel Seventeen and down the block from D Bar. They share the kitchen with the Next Door Lounge. I had made reservations through Open Table for 100 points. We were the only ones there. Maybe because the Broncos were playing in the AFC Divisional Playoff. The Next Door Lounge was packed and we could hear the people cheering for the Broncos through the walls. We were greeted right away and seated at a small table. The restaurant had really nice decor, but the light was dim and it was difficult to see the menu. We ordered 4 small plates: The Spinach Salad ($8) had baby spinach, halved red red grapes and candied walnuts tossed in a jalapeno buttermilk dressing. The dressing had a kick to it. The Coconut and Chile Calamari ($10) came out about a minute later. I hadn't even dished out the salad and wanted to eat the calamari while it was still hot. The breading was a light corn dust, not too heavy. There were large pieces of tentacles and rings of calamari served with a lime aioli. This was one of the best fried calamari I've had in along time. We both ordered the Skirt Steak & Chimichurri ($14 each). The meat was perfectly seasoned and cooked to medium rare. It was skirt steak, so it was a little chewy and tough but that's to be expected for that cut of meat. The chimichurri was red. I prefer the green version. The fries had the skin on them. They were served on top of the steak on a small plate. We had to eat the fries before we could cut the meat with a steak knife. We then ordered dessert. My husband ordered the Three Pots of Creme Brulee ($7). They came in Vanilla Bean, Mocha, and Coconut. He actually liked the Mocha the best because it was different. He couldn't really taste the difference between the vanilla and coconut. I ordered the Yucatan Flan ($7). It was dense and creamy. The tequila infused pineapple slices and piece of peanut brittle was a nice contrast to the flan. They have a Happy Hour from 4-6pm with limited tapas. Too bad the Calamari isn't on the Happy Hour menu. We probably won't be back without another coupon.

I love tapas. And I basically love food. So combine little plates of food (which really means lots and lots of variety) make me a happy girl. The interior of Limon is very nice. Dark. Wood. Deep colors. I totally get the style and I like it. But I didn't go to dinner to sit and admire the furnishings. I like Limon. The food is pretty good but the prices are a little high for what you get. We ended up getting about 8-9 dishes including dessert. I would say most of them were well executed and successful as far as flavor goes. There was really only a couple that we didn't care for and one of those was recommended by our waiter. The other was supposedly a Peruvian favorite. The Lomosaltado had great elements of flavor .. but the meat didn't impress me. I do believe in 3's though. So I do get slightly miffed when a plate comes out with 2 items. Maybe make them smaller so you can adhere to the balance of odd numbers rule or something. Plus it made the 3 of us eating weird because someone always gets more. 3 small empanadas would have been better than 2 medium sized ones. Just say'n. Also .. apparently the Pisco sour didn't have enough zing. And this is straight from a Peruvian's mouth. So maybe a little more brandy?

I came here for a random dinner with my date on a Saturday evening, looking to try a new place to eat. My date and I were thinking of ordering a few of the smaller tapas plates, and then an entree to share. We ordered the beef empanadas and the steak and fries entree, thinking that surely both of these plates would satisfy the two of us. The 3 empanadas, while small, were actually quite good, and the Spanish rice that comes with it was great as well. The steak and fries entree, however, was a major dissappointment to say the least. I should have known something was funny when the waiter didn't ask how we wanted the steak cooked. I do not understand how a place can charge almost $20 for a piece of red meat that was literally smaller than the size of my palm (and I have small hands). The steak had come pre-cut into six pieces and had been covered in the fries, probably to hide how tiny it was. Oh, and you better be sure I counted how many fries came with it; 13, and they were small also. The steak also came with more rice. Whoopty-doo. Bottom line, this entree wouldn't have been enough for one of us. While my mixed drink was killer, it isn't worth coming back here. If you are looking for a meal that is worth every penny, I suggest the reader pay attention to all of the other low reviews for Limon because every single one is accurate. Take your money to The District, or even to the pricier Humbolt across the street, where you won't feel like you were just robbed.

We bought a Groupon for this place - totally worth the money! If you like spicy, GET THE CHILE RELLENO! So. good. Everything was tasty, including the cocktails (I had a jalepeno-infused tequila margarita and my lady had the house sangria). The best part was our attentive server - I wish I had remembered to get her name! She was very informative about the food, kind, and attentive (but not overly attentive or annoying). We also ate the tres leche cake...omg. I don't order dessert very often, but this was wonderfully sweet and moist. Topped it off with a decaf coffee. All around good stuff here. The one draw-back is that it's pretty pricey for a more low-key joint.

He came to our table and complained that we reserved a table on opentable and that we had bought the travelzoo coupon together. Listen, if you don't want to pay a per head fee to open table, don't use it; and especially don't complain about it to your patrons. I also don't want to hear you complaining about how dead your restaurant is during the week and the coupon / opentable should be used on the weekend. Again, you should had made a stipulation for that in the coupon. Also, don't stare at my gf and try to look at both of your patrons in the eye. Slow service, mediocre tapas, and a complaining gm who served us made for a bitter night out. No wonder you need a coupon to fill the tables. Ridiculousness

I wanted to like this place more than I did. The food was a bit boring in my opinion, especially for the money. I would have given it a second try but when I got the bill and I saw they charged me $7 for a San Pellegrino, uh nope. That is just unnecessary gouging. Not sure whats going on there if you need to almost double a bottle of water. It would have been fine if the food had more attention. The server/slash hostess was nice but seemed very apathetic and like she just got out of bed. Sorry, just over the ego of restaurants. If you are going to charge a lot of money, you should make it worth it.

A friend and I ate here last night and it was wonderful! Our service was excellent, the bartender, who served us, gave us great food and drink recommendations and was just lovely. Tried this place because we had a groupon. Its a tapas restaurant so the plates are not huge. But it seems like the food is pretty good. They also have a decent happy hour which ends at 6. Drinks are good. They have a pretty decent Mojito and margarita. I'll go back. Its def worth a try if you like spanish tapas.

One of the best restaurants we visited during Denver Restaurant Week 2013! I made six reservations for restaurant week this year at places all over Denver. This one definitely stands out. They have a small bar area, where I enjoyed a cocktail while waiting for the rest of my group to arrive. They did not do happy hour pricing during restaurant week, which was odd, but not a big deal. They encouraged me to come back after restaurant week was over for their happy hour. I had a tasty mojito-esque cocktail with gin and cucumbers, yum! When we were seated for our reservation, we found out that the selections listed on the restaurant week website were incorrect. This caused some consternation, but our server offered us individual desserts to make up for the misunderstanding. And, for some reason, the restaurant saw fit to "cancel" my reservation on Open Table, even though I checked in and hung out at the bar for an hour before our reservation, and all of us were in attendance for our reservation. Annoying. The food was incredible. Meredith is right, the white fish is outstanding! And, their plates are larger than tapas, but not quite a full-size meal. This means that rather than select one entree, you can try a few different dishes in a single meal. I really like this! I will most definitely be back, probably with a MeetInDenver group in tow!

I'm glad to see that the dollar sign rating has been adjusted accordingly. Definitely warrants a $$$ versus a $$. The flavors were great and the service was pleasant but as the boyfriend astutely observed mid-meal, "each bite is a dollar." I enjoyed the shrimp ceviche and the Mojito. We were shocked to discover that the most expensive thing on the menu ($14) came in the form of one...ONE scallop. The most filling item we ordered was the steak skirt, mostly because of the fries. The other four dishes lasted a few bites and set us back double-digits in dollars. Basically, great ambiance and favors but NOT worth it. Our tab came up to over $100 for two cocktails, a fat tire, a coffee, and 5 tiny tapas plates. Ooooof. It still hurts.

We stumbled upon this place one frigid night as we were wandering around the city. It seemed very welcoming with the romantic atmosphere, the pleasant music playing at just the right volume, and the friendly staff. We sat at the bar and had drinks. The bartender was extremely talented and gave us the VIP treatment. Initially, we had only planned on having one drink to warm up, but we ended up staying for several because he had an infinite set of extremely unique and delicious cocktails. We tried a few appetizers as well, which were also really decent. We will definitely be back!!!

Food (back then at least) was phenomenal! Truly. But the prices really are above average, even P17, another upscale restaurant charges. You can walk out of P17 with spending around $30 and getting something descent. Not here more like $45+. You think the owner would have gotten the point by now. However he's still in business he probably doesn't need customers... Food, Awesome! Prices, terrible.

We went to Limon on a Sunday wanting to have the Brunch with our Groupon, was told by the owner they stopped honoring the Groupon for Sunday Brunches. I was so surprised I froze for a second, then I explained we came all the way from Lakewood and the Groupon would be expiring in a few days.... Finally got in. The waiter was nice, grabbed our water quickly and seemed friendly. He did pretty well till the very end, after we handed him the Groupon, he re-did the bill and brought out the rest of what we owed, we left him cash on the table including tips. As we were going out he asked us if we had a Groupon. We were like, but you just took it! He seemed geniunely surprised as if he'd forgotten the whole incidence....! As far as the food, their presentation sure is better than their taste. We ordered the Eggs Havana and House Tamales, both should be comfort foods but they were so "fancy" that you just don't remember what they tasted like afterwards, all you remember is what they looked like because you couldn't help but snap pictures of them. Now if everything I've written can be forgotten, this can't: DON'T ORDER THE Bananas Foster Sopes!!! They sound delicious but the sopes (sopaipillas I assume) are very dry, tastely, and super doughy. I don't know what the waiter was thinking, to bring this out at the same time as our other dishes, this was supposed to be dessert and if it had come out at the end of the meal, maybe it would've been crispier. So, maybe it was wrong execution but still, this dessert could hardly impress! As a matter of fact, we overheard the owner checking with the other table who also ordered the Bananas Foster Sopes and the guy was being so honest and told the owner it was terrible! The restaurant itself is pretty cute, great wall colors, just a very chic place to hang out.

This place was a dud. We had a groupon for 2 drinks a dessert and 3 entrées. The service was slow. The portions were ridiculous for the price. We had to order a 4th. I had the chipotle meatballs. They tasted like poor quality ground beef (overcooked and dry) with chipotle puree and that's it. No depth of flavor or proper seasoning. I wanted to go back to the kitchen and chastise the Chef. As a Chef/Restaurant manager I was flabbergasted. It gets worse. I ordered a clam dish that had more sand and broken shells than anything else. They replaced it. It was surprisingly boring for a dish with strong flavored chorizo sausage in it. The Chile Relleno was good, but it was little consolation after the cheap crap they were trying to pass off as fine dinning. Don't let their semi-fancy plating fool you. They obviously use inferior ingredients and need a more knowledgeable and creative chef. BTW, if we didn't have the groupon, it would have cost 85 dollars. Lame. To Management, If you guys want any pointers, or a new chipotle meatball or clam and chorizo recipe (as I have put similar but better versions on menus of some of my past restaurants) . Pumpkin soup - awesome, spinach salad-okay, wok fried beef-unbelievably amazing, clams and chorizo- broth was great but clams were miniscule, crispy duck - fantastic taste but not crispy, crispy relleno - delicious, Mexican ice cream - uber rich dark chocolate with yummy bruleed banana, and dulce de leche - perfectly balanced and not super sweet. They ran out of creme brulee which made me very sad because we were really looking forward to it after talking to the table next to us. Glad we came during restaurant week because we still threw down a hundy plus tip after ordering one of their $20 bottles of wine, which was pretty darn good too.

Being big fans of wine, we decided to try this restaurant out on their Wine Down Wednesdays. They have half-priced bottles of wines and $5 glasses of wine...great deals! It's a cute location, cozy building. I was surprised though that there was only one waiter working...and even though I'm sure he was busy, he wasn't very attentive to anyone. We ordered a bottle of wine and waited about 25 minutes before we received it. It took so long, we were even thinking of potentially NOT ordering dinner because we were so hungry. During the long wait, we had decided what to get, and although it took a bit of time, the food was actually pretty amazing. I highly recommend the Braised Beef "little fat ones" -- maybe get two of those! The tamale was delicious, and the pork belly was pretty good. My two companions really enjoyed the skirt steak but I could've done without -- it didn't come with nearly enough fries, and the chimichurri wasn't phenomenal (I wasn't the only one to say that). Regardless, it has a really good gluten-free selection, good wine selection (and price on Wednesdays) and good food! I will give this restaurant another shot because hey, maybe it was a bad night and someone called in sick.

An update: I took my in laws here on their recent visit, and I swear it was the only place I picked out all weekend I think they liked. :) It seems like a lot of the negative reviews are about groupon complications. While a restaurant should only offer one if they can execute well, I think those experiences should be taken with a grain of salt. The rellenos are out of this world and the margaritas are delicious.

this place is amazing. it's cozy and upscale without feeling confined or stuffy. the food is outstanding - we didn't have one bad bite. and the cocktails? the cocktails were magical. we ordered the pork tamale (the sauce is something pretty yummy), the coconut lime calamari (loved the sauce - it had just the right amount of heat), the white fish (INCREDIBLE - and someone (the owner, perhaps?) told me how to make it MYSELF) and the chimicchuri steak (INCREDIBLE). we had the cheesecake with apple compote for dessert which was also outstanding. we'll be back. YUM!

Cozy, inviting and unique. Interesting menu, spanning South America, Central America and the Caribbean. We had the 5280 deal, which allowed us to chose 4 different dishes. We enjoyed the food, but I found a few dishes oversalted. The owner was in the room most of the time and came to talk to us. The two brands of Tequila recommended by the waiter and the owner were excellent. Chocolate creme brule was very tasty too.

I will have to agree with other reviewers that it is far too expensive for what you get. Also, can Yelp change the star rating please?? We were looking for someplace to get in on Saturday night fairly early (6pm) but with no reservation, and I saw this place was nearby and it was reasonably priced. Or so I thought. First off, people looked frantic when we told them there were five of us and had no reservation. I get it, Saturday night, but part of your job is to make people feel comfortable and welcome, so chill the f out and let's figure it out. My friends and I are flexible. We can do bar seating or a high top, which is what we ended up with. No one gave us menus when we sat down, and our server approached and asked for our drink order. I forget her name, but she was very nice. It wasn't until after we ordered drinks that we saw the menu, which is unfortunate, as I would have certainly tried one of their signature drinks. Our server notified us that they recommend each person getting two or three items from the menu (all of which are tapa style, smaller portions). Each item was at least $10 and some as much as $15. NOT TWO DOLLAR SIGNS! We ended up ordering one dish per person since we were not prepared for that price range. We had Clams with Chorizo, Chilli Relleno, Sea Scallops and other things that were apparently not memorable enough to mention. The three things I listed above were very tasty, but so rich that I ended up having to dash home for some, um...new socks.... before continuing our night out.

Well surprise surprise I enjoyed my meal did no expect to because of the yelp reviews I read. Bloody Marys and mimosas 10.00 for all you can drink. They were strong drinks which I like if I am drinking calories. They will even give you a half Bloody. I have never asked for a half only doubles and a few triples. I asked our waiter what his favorite item was and he said the rellenos which was my first choice anyway. There were two nice sized peppers they had a very nice light batter surrounding them. Inside was corn, a few raisins but not too sweet and the Mexican white cheese. Oh yes and black beans. It wasn't stuffed full. I liked that. I ate both which surprised me because I was full plus I had a few Bloody Marys to help start the meal. One of my friends had eggs and shredded meat. He said it was good. Then added "I like bacon better". I am not sure what the others had but we ate, drank and best of enjoyed each others company. I gave this a 4 because the Bloody Marys was too thick. It was spicy and the thickness thing is just me. I still drank a few plus 1.

Interesting dish concepts, but flavors and execution could be much better. Entrees are way too expensive for what you get. The restaurant has such a great location, but barely had any patrons during our outing, which is a bad sign. I'm really rooting for Limon, but they need to make some big improvements to the back of the house if they're going to survive.

I really like Limon and I always find it kind of baffling that it's never that crowded. It's nice cause you can usually walk in and get a table, and it's got pretty sweet happy hour deals. It's in my neighborhood and not as crowded or noisy or annoying as it would be to go to LoDo for a HH. It is a bit expensive but I think the dishes are well crafted and I have never been disappointed with the quality, really. Sometimes they are smaller portions but your server will let you know (no judgment) if you're hungry and want value what to get. On that note, I think the best part about Limon has always been the service -- servers are friendly, hands off but attentive, and always just really nice people. Overall I really think it is worth a visit if you're on 17th!

My wife and I went here and had a decent time. The ambiance was nice and the decor pleasant. The waitress was friendly but not very attentive. I had the Lamb stew and my wife ate vegetarian, both dishes were decent but not great. I also had the cheesecake which was too small but ok. My wife ordered a drink that was watered down. Overall we had a decent experience but nothing memorable. If we had not had a groupon I don't think we would have gone, and without the groupon the price was too high for the food.

I should have read the reviews before eating at Limon. I found a Groupon for $30 which I thought was a steal--until I saw the portion sizes. Very, very small and the quality of the food was quite average. My boyfriend and I shared 3 small plates one of which was scallops on a bed of veggies with salmorejo sauce (Spanish soup). It came with ONLY 2 scallops and the retail price was $14! Seriously?! Also, the Groupon was misleading, it said that 2 glasses of wine (up to $17) were included which I assumed meant that the patrons had the liberty of choosing their own wine. Not the case at all, the choices were a house white or a house red (which was reminiscent of Crane Lake, or 2 Buck Chuck). Needless to say, we won't be coming back.

Overpriced and over-fried. Everything is oily and tastes o.k., (because of the massive amounts of fat) but leaves you feeling terrible after. Perhaps the largest disappointment was my $10 mixed drink which was bitter and left me wishing I had spent my money elsewhere. My boyfriend was much more pleased than me...but after spending $20 each on our meals, (and this was after a coupon deal) I somehow left hungry and feeling sick at the same time. I will not be going back!

Its a smaller restaurant with a good concept, but I'm not sure they are hitting it quite right. Maybe that is because I'm from Boulder and we have The Med (who knows tappas) but I'm not sure. The meals were intended to be 'small' sizes that we could share. The portions varied greatly between a lot and not enough. They were also rather expensive considering the sizes of each meal. The quality of the food was good, but it didn't rock my socks or anything. I venue itself was attractive and well decorated. However, we had a reservation and were sat at a high top by the bar... which would have been very cold if it was the dead of winter. It was also rather strange that the bartender (who was very busy) was also our waiter. They took care of this by sending another staff person to take care of our order. However, it was awkward. I'm glad we have good company. The conversation at our table was very interesting. This was probably assisted by the drinks, which were excellent BTW.

As with seemingly everyone else who ate here recently, we had a Groupon. I made a reservation easily the night before for 7pm on a Saturday night. We got here, and the place was practically empty, which I thought was weird. I guess the uptown crowd is just too hip to eat at 7, because the place was pretty full by the time we left. The restaurant is small and the decor is pretty plain. Lots of browns. We were seated in the corner, and within seconds we had water and our waiter was there to take our drink orders. We ordered some martinis which were tasty and strong, the two qualities I most look for in drinks. We had the parmesan scallops for an appetizer, which tasted like scallops and parmesan. As is often the case, the dish was only two scallops, but there were other little scallopy things that we didn't recognize as well, and a tasty sauce. Tanya had the quinoa risotto, and I had the scallop tostada. Because we'd been eating chips at Lola for the past hour, we both ordered the half-sized entrees. Both dishes tasted fine, but a little plain. I liked that the food was different than what you can get at most places, and the food seemed well-executed, but it just didn't hit me as something special. For dessert we had the dark chocolate cheesecake, which sounded amazing on paper, but was a pretty middle-of-the-road affair when it came out. The dark chocolate crust was not flavorful, and the cheesecake itself was nothing to write home about. The place also seems a little pricey for what you get, but it's not outrageous. Our waiter was attentive and friendly all night, without being overbearing, even after the restaurant filled up. I'd recommend this for those occasions when you want to try something different, but it's not a place I'll be coming back to regularly.

Good concept..but TERRIBLE execution!.. We had... APPS *Shredded Beef Sopes - Beef had absolutely no flavor, couldn't see or taste the other components of the dish *Potato and Ham Croquettes- not bad. portion was pretty good for app. _Both apps had a silly shredded cabbage and carrot garnish. ENTREES *Duck Confit Enchiladas- Probably the MOST DISGUSTING THING I HAVE EVER TASTED in a restaurant. I bit into it then SPAT IT OUT.. unfortunately, i didnt realize how AWFUL it smelled until after the bite.. There was something ROTTEN in the enchiladas. I couldn't believe they served it. Called the waiter he said he smelled it from where he was standing...WOW..what is going on in that kitchen?!!! _Had that same stupid shredded cabbage & carrot as my veg side. *Sea Scallops Tostada-Not Bad but not great either...Scallops were tiny..wouldve rather seen 3 larger scallops than 4 tiny scallops. DESSERT Spiced Chocolate-Crusted Cheesecake- Dry cheesecake covered with apple pie filling & Hershey's syrup..weird flavor profile with the apple chocolate combo..looked super amateur. I was highly disapointed..the menu descriptions sounded SOO good but the food just couldnt live up to it...never again.

You get what you pay for period! I'm not sure why all these people read reviews then show up and are surprised that a meal for two with one drink will be +$50. C'mon! If you want cheap and plat full of crap go to Chili's or someplace like that. Limon's food is FABULOUS, period! Great flavors, ingredients and presentation. Yes you might pay 10% above what one would think, but would that really prevent you from enjoying a great meal, with superb service in a lovely location. My wife and I sat at the bar and Matt (the manager I believe) was awesome! He recommended a reasonable priced bottle wine and was VERY clear on the menu style of NOT Tapas which are small bites, but plates a bit larger than traditional tapas but still share. He recommended 3 to 4 plates to share. We had 4 plates, a bottle of wine and each had an additional drink. Our bill was $94, which I felt was a GREAT VALUE considering we left with a full belly and a cool buzz. If you are cheap and like to complain about things like good ingredients, well thought out dishes and smashing staff, but get focus on paying maybe 10-15%, then go to a burrito stand and get a gut bomb of a burrito that costs $6. So here is the deal, if you're going to just eat, $20 per person, if your going to drink raise that $5-7 per drink per person. Now that you know, just go and enjoy. We'll keep coming back for sure. FYI: Clams & Chorizo amazing, Pork Belly was unreal as well!

We have been to this restaurant on a total of 4 visits and have never been disappointed. The staff is great and friendly. We are about 2/3 of the way through the menu, sampling at least 4 different dishes each time, amazing every time. Next time you go, have Michael (the manager) mix your drink, he is a top notch bartender too. (He even hooked up my friend with a non-alcoholic drink that was almost as good as my pisco sour!) It can get pricey, but this is definitely the place to go if you want something a little bit different for dinner or a special night out.
