Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

The food was pretty standard pasta and red sauce style cheap Italian. Great meat balls and sausage, boring marinara, plain iceberg lettuce salads with two pepperoni slices and a bit of grated mozzarella. The lounge side had a fun, if amateurish, band playing pop, funk and motown classics, and the restaurant side was dull, florescent lit, and felt a bit like a cafeteria. We might give it another chance to try the pizza or check out a different band, but we definitely recommend the lounge side. The menu is cheap but limited and nearby places like Carl's and Patsy's make it unlikely that this will ever become a favorite for us.

I hate reviews that insist everything must be "authentic" to be good. You might not find food like this back in the old country, but this is old school Italian-American food, and I love it.
(5)Demitri R.
My friend took me here, and i Love it. The Cannolis are awesome. And you must get a pint of Spaghetti Sauce. Im not sure why people are hating on this place. Its a Lil Whole in the wall and i love the atmosphere. THe Cannolis are inexpensive and make a nice little meal.
(4)Jared R.
I discovered Lechuga's in the summer of 2004 and I absolutely love this place. Their little devil canolis are awesome. I think it's Tuesday nights when they have a spaghetti night that is super cheap, but hits the spot. Especially considering the price, I have to give it 5 stars. ** Update ** I am drooling over the little devil canoli as I type this....
(5)Paulette B.
Except for the little devils, it's the worst Italian Food ever. As far a night life the Bouncer kenneth is rude to the patrons and is a convicted con man, who spends his time drinking and flirting with younger women half his age.
(1)Kyle M.
They came from....hell. (In a good way). No, I'm not talking about the questionably tacky interior of this place. I'm talking about the "little devils," which are a take-out MUST if you either live in the area or are passing through. They're like little canolis, but they pack some serious heat due to the spicy peppers they roll them up with. Order several, because one won't be enough. The dough they use tastes really hearty, and the sausage is legit spicy italian sausage (not the cheap knock-off stuff some places are using these days). Order them with a side of the red sauce because it'll moisten them right up (some of them can be a little dry sometimes, but that's not the usual case). I've never dined in at this place, and I'm positive I never will. However, those damn little spicy devils will be in my take-out top 10 for some time to come. Tip - get them earlier on in the evening, because I've gone later a few times and they had run out of them. Soooo hard to resist, and they'll continue adding size and cushion to love handles all over North Denver for some time to come.

So me and a friend were looking to try a new place we haven't been before and we had heard good things about Lechuga's. The place is very unassuming from the outside. When you walk in have choice of normal restaurant seating or sit at the lounge area. It is self seating so we grabbed seat in lounge area and place is actually quite large from looks outside. We ordered the little devils and the sausage meatball canolis and the garlic bread. The little devils are the best as I like the spiciness of them but all of the food was decent. There was also a live band that played a variety of music (they were okay but just made the atmosphere fun). It was just a fun night with decent food at great price! Nice to find little hole in the walls like this that can offer good times.

So... I was a bit disappointed with this restaurant. Having read so many reviews about how I absolutely have to try the "little devils", I was thinking, "AWESOME! I MUST EAT THIS SPICY DELICIOUSNESS". I am not even sure what I was expecting. I guess I should have paid closer attention to the actual reviews. I had a good laugh off of the buckets of spaghetti on the menu. It hearkened back to a day when I managed a Little Caesars (*YOU* are jealous of this sweet job on my resume... I know) and we sold buckets of spaghetti. The server barely spoke English, which was fine, but she screwed up our order. We asked for the "little devils" to be covered in cheese and sauce. It came out dry. The little devils are described as canolis with jalepeno and sausage. It was just regular bread dough wrapped around the ingredients and then baked. It was dry and not spicy enough. When I think spicy, I want to eat with my fingers, forget to wash my hands, go to the restroom and end up screaming like the little girl I am for the next 20 minutes. This was not even close to that spicy. Ah well, I suggest going somewhere else... unless you like super divey places with buckets of spaghetti.
(2)Rob M.
Crazy cheap: $13.25 was my bill for a beer, a glass of wine, a side salad, and an entree. Couldn't believe it, because the food and service were actually very good. Kind of a hole-in-the-wall kind of place, but good. When you're used to spending $50-$75 for a meal like this, it's a pleasant surprise. I will certainly be back.

Lechuga's what can you say! This place has been here for years.. I remember as a kid messing around in the back of the kitchen watching the cooks make Italian sausage my Ma's friend owned the place when in the 80's when it was known as Carbone's..Sometimes I still call it that. They do have a mean Calzone.. but here it's called a Cannoli.. I know that's the Dessert.. but hey this was Old School North Side Italy back in the day.. and that's what they called it.. and still do.. You just can't go wrong with the Pizza.. square in all it's glory.. the Cannoli's are the best in town.. they have that old Italiano feeling to them.. jus have to try it... They also serve it with a slice of green chili inside called the "devil" but don't let that scare you.. commo'n it's a northside tradition. Everything is good here .. and cheap you just can't go wrong.. PS the only drawback /complaint is that the wait staff or lack thereof of kinda slow.. specially if the get the older lady that cracks dry jokes, but she's cool .. If you get her you'll know what I mean. But Overall Hey it's Carbone's man! a.k.a. Lechuga's
(4)Whitney S.
Legit in everyway - gangsters at night, damn good Italian food all the time, a short but sweet love affair with Max (85 years old) out on the dance floor. I'd bring my big fat Italian family in here and be rest assured LeChuga's would impress.
(4)Zach J.
Ive been going here pretty much my whole life, my grandparents used to go when they were in High school even. Pretty much everything is good here I prefer the elegante canoli or the spanoli plate and a salad with ranch. If you are in the mood for pizza try the sausage, mushroom and chili strips. Lechugas is nothing fancy, go somewhere else it is just simple, good and cheap. Their lunch specials are super cheap also.
(5)Daniel B.
I had a cannoli, which was awesome. The pizza was not that great. It was a neighborhood bar and it was hopping. The bartendess with the floral tatoos down her arm was one of the hottess women I have seen in many moons.
(4)Craig D.
My wife and I eat out a lot. We live a block away from this place and one night while trying to decide where to go, we settled on Lechuga's. This is the worst restaurant I have ever eaten at, hands down. Italian food? I think not...try sauce out of a can, bland everything. The decor is completely outdated and so is the menu. I don't even think our server knew how to speak, let alone serve a table. I wish it didn't have to be so harsh but if you're deciding to go here, keep walking and go to Gaetano's.
(1)Case B.
This place is fantastic. Old school Italian places are disappearing from the neighborhood so I hope this one stays forever. Great 'little devils', home style noodles and I like the pomadoro pizza. It's a great, casual place that is also excellent for takeout.
(4)Denver D.
Very good food, give this one a try!!! Prices are also reasonable.

I'm so confused by Lechuga's. In 9th grade Spanish they taught me that lechuga means lettuce. And as of late, I've learned that Lechuga can also be a Latino surname. But at Lechuga's Restaurant they serve "canolis", which are not the same as cannolis. So is this place Mexican? Or Italian? Or what? Anyway, Lechuga's is cool because it's a neighborhood joint with old fashioned prices. Their canolis are something like four bucks! Imagine--dinner for four bucks! Although, I still haven't totally figured out the canoli thing. Is it Mexican or Italian? The middle is a fat Italian sausage = score 1 for the Italians. The next layer is an Italian hoagie roll baked on to the Italian sausage = score 2 for the Italians. The next layer is a bland salsa-ish tomato sauce smothering the roll = .5 for the Italians, .5 for the Mexicans. And then they top it with lettuce and shredded cheese = score for the Mexicans. But the place is called "Lechuga" which sounds more Mexican than Italian. Final score Italians 2.5, Mexicans 2.5. I'm not loving the canolis, they're OK. But they're definitely unique and really, what's not to like about sausage and bread covered in tomato sauce? Overall its cool because is a neighborhood institution, its unique, and it's cheap.
(3)Alex g.
My buddy brought me here when I was visiting CO. He told me they take sausage and wrap it in a dough - almost like a big pig in a blanket, but better. BETTER it is! I took his advice and got what he got - hot spinolli, I believe. It's two small sausage rolls with jalapeno and spaghetti covered with sauce. Although the sauce was bland, the sausage made up for it. It was so good I thought of going back a couple of days later. A must if you're in the area.

They sell buckets of spaghetti here. And I'm being literal. I did not eat here, but I did spend a night with Marie the drunken karaoke MC and saw a lady wearing a fanny pack with sweatpants. She was carrying a holster of hand sanitizer. I dont want to know. This place is filled with some straight up fuckery, man. Marie the Karaoke MC (Formally known as Take Two with Marie) sings the same song over and over with her eyepatched husband and when I was there she got so drunk that my friend actually had to take over for her and MC. Yeah. The decor is amazing, and previously lived only in my dreams. There is glow paint on the walls, and more mirrors than I have ever seen in my life. If you fancy yourself to be a classy person, you will stand out, as most of the people who are regulars look like they live in storage units and have spent time in prison. The bartenders are nice, but you should also be aware that this place closes at like 11:30 (WTF?)
(3)Rachel M.
I dream about these canolis. If we happen to have a party, or need to serve a group of more than eight people, I'll be the first to shout "Lechugas!!!" Their lil' devil canolis have extra hot peppers in them, and if left unattended around a plateful, I'm sure I could eat five of them without blinking, they are so good. Dip them in Lechuga's marinara sauce and you are in little Italy heaven. This place has gone through a couple changes of ownership, but their food has stayed consistent for several decades. Their marinara sauce is a little on the thin side (which I happen to enjoy), and if you really want a good feel for the place, sit in the back. Something about the dimly lit atmosphere and interesting array of jukebox selections make you feel like you could be in an episode of the Sopranos. Their pizzas are pretty delicious as well and you can get a bucket of spag and marinara to go if you are serving a big group.

It is not Highland....It is North Denver...Highland my ass...This place is till a dump...always has been...The food is good though....don't order spaghetti or some dumb ass meal....Get the Little Devil, canoli or a deep dish pie....It is the same since 1975......

First visit Thursday 6/14...not impressive. Ordered food to go and sat in the lounge at 5:00pm - very much a dive bar scenario in the lounge area. Did not check out the dining room. The menu is very limited with no white sauce at all - bummer. The bar did not have a great selection of booze either - no Kettle 1, no Stoli....they do not even carry any Italian beers. The food was okay, but reminded me of frozen food that had been reheated. Won't be coming back.
(2)Danielle B.
Service sucks here tonight but the food was good. It took for ever to be served and the waitress was very rude. I doubt I will go here again.
(2)Susan B.
I cannot believe how much this restaurant has gone DOWNHILL-- we asked for olive oil for the antepasta and the reply was that they dont have any. What italian restaurant doesnt have olive oil? The dinner salad right out of a bag of salad with two pieces of pepperoni--the antepasta nothing but cold cuts and some onion slices with some jarred peppers served with bottled italian dressing and cold untoasted french bread! Spaghetti was reheated pasta that was not even drained well and diluted what seemed to be a jarred/canned sauce. Instead of the garlic bread and antepasta before the dinner it all came at once. Waitresses could use a lot a people skills. I had been going here for over 30 years but this was my last trip!
(1)Sharon M.
The little devils remind me of the cannoli's my Grandma used to make. The bread always smells so good in the car, I can never make it home without eating one.....or two or three!
(4)Jodi A.
My friends and I came here to listen to another friends band, eat dinner and get our drink on. I had heard raves about the canoli's....they call them canolis but they really are a burrito sized pizza roll. I thought canoli's were for dessert. I ordered the "Elegante'"....People...this is not Italian food ! It was smothered in red marinara type sauce and had lettuce on top (hrm, like a smothered burrito???) I found more tell-tale signs of non-italian culture in this food....italian sausage with JALEPENO PEPPERS inside!?!? They should just give in and serve Mexican food. The music was even Santana that they piped in before the band started. This place has some identity problems. In a fancier neighborhood, with better decor, they could probably claim to be a "fusion" of Mexican and Italian...if they cooked it better. The crust on the canolli was hard to cut into, and the insides slid out while I was trying to eat it. (Which was a whole sausage...if you can picture how attractive that was..) The flavor was overtaken by the hot peppers...the red sauce was like a less spiced version of perhaps....enchilada sauce? I really wanted Mexican food at that point....the psuedo-italian was non-satisfying. The service? The service at the bar was outstanding. but..when we moved to a table, I resorted to walking back to the bar to get refills. The place is really a dive-bar....really. They are a confused bunch. Good place to get hit on though...my self-esteem was up a few notches, as even a guy (whom I had never even seen before or noticed in there) followed me half way to my car asking if I was leaving so soon? So if you are a woman, of any shape or size...go to Lechugas....fish in a barrel.
(1)Aspen B.
The place is a little run down but don't let the outward appearance fool you they have the absolute best food in town! I love the cannoli smothered with sauce and cheese, yummy! Great cheap food! Beware of the bar, a little shady and you might not want to use the restrooms, very run down. With all of that said the food is amazing and I always go to get take out.
(5)Danielle S.
I have trouble eating around people who are missing most of their teeth and/or have fat rolls hanging out of their clothes. If that makes me snotty or pretentious, I'm OK with that. Dive bars/hole in the wall restaurants can be great, and the funky decor (or lack of) can be charming if the food is something special. Sometimes, they're just holes in the wall. In this case, I'm afraid it's the latter. I had spaghetti, which was fine, with a tasty sausage and an iffy-textured meatball. My salad was mostly dressing and cheese - very little in the way of actual salad. Garlic bread was cold and pretty mediocre. It seems the "cannoli" or pizza is the way to go. In any case, I was underwhelmed.
(2)Mona L.
Whenever we're in the neighborhood, this is always a pit stop for us. We order a dozen or more canolis to go. Canolis= Sausage and chile strips wrapped in homemade dough and baked to perfection. (you can also order them without the chile strips). Included is a marinara dipping sauce. They are always a treat for our family. I havent been there for awhile, since I am here in Miami, but I believe they have the smaller canolis that we order and large as well. They're very good! Great for parties, or just to snack on. Try them!! I'm giving this 4 stars, because I am not familiar with the restaurant, only the takeout area.

Last weekend my lady-friend and I wanted to go out for some Italian food without breaking the bank. We were also feeling guilty for not exploring all the food options The Highlands has to offer. Thanks to this very website, we decided on Lechuga's and were very pleasantly surprised. It ain't much to look at, the place feels like 80's Jersey, but that all kind of adds to the charm. The portions are just right, enough to fill you up, not so much that you'll have leftovers or feel bloated and the prices can't be beat. I ordered the canoli & spaghetti (think an Italian version of a pig in a blanket), a side salad, a side of garlic bread, and two glasses of Chianti and I paid 17 bucks, tip included! Also, they had a band playing all of your lounge act favorites. I look forward to going there again sometime soon...
(4)Dave A.
Old school North Side hangout that brings back memories of innocent days spent getting Carbone's takeout and eating it at my Grandparents house. Forget about authentic and drop the pretention, if you're Italian-American and grew up in Denver you know that the canoli served at Lechuga's is a regional treat not to be confused with the dessert. If you really want to make it good buy a bag of canoli's, a side of gravy and head over to Carbone's and buy some goat cheese romano.
(5)Jill C.
I can't believe how much food you get for the money here. My boyfriend and I each got an entree, cocktail, split a carafe of wine and an appetizer. The bill with a 20% tip? $35. Incredible. My manicotti was fantastic! the atmosphere is nothing special but if you go into the other half of the restaurant, there is a nightclub where you can also eat. The service was very good and we were stuffed. We'll definitely be back.
(4)Mariko Y.
We stopped in here to see the Thermal Spyders play and were welcomed by jamming beats and a grooving crowd. I don't know that I would go here for the acoustics, but the thing that really interests me about Lechuga's are the extremely cheap canolis! For $4 I can get a two link dough wrapped wonder that I can munch for two meals. The only downside of my visit was that for a pretty lengthy time the wait staff forgot/got confused and didn't take our drink or food order (even though they were able to visit the other tables on the ground level a few times) We finally ended up popping into the front to the take out section and just picking it up and taking it to our table. I got warned about the sauce being on the sweet side, but didn't find it excessively so. They also had some home made pizzelles made by a little woman who comes in each week. I didn't have the stomach room or the buddies to share them with, but I am getting them next time, buddies or not.

This review is for the canolis and bucket o marinara. I have gone several times recently in order to try the rest of the menu, but, all I've eaten there in 20 years in the canolis and the spaghetti bucket. I get a dozen lil devils and a pint of sauce, and a bucket of pasta. the "unfinished " sauce goes on the spag, and generally it gets eaten between dinner, midnight, and by 10am the next morning the whole thing is gone by me alone. The problem is that they are across the street from La Casita de Manuel, which has the only tamales blessed by the pope in Denver as far as I know, and the best for several states! (see texan slurred review) I get to the intersection and lose it. Which food should I eat/ Hmmmm mmmm, yeah, ok lots from both is the only true answer. first canolis then tamales then bucket of spag, then more tamales,. You get the picture. Lechuga's you taught me to eat spaghetti for breakfast and I thank you for it ! S
(5)Tony S.
Lechuga's has the old-world charm of a mom-and-pop or family-owned italian restaurant. no cookie-cutter chain italian, but like the others in this neighborhood, its also just not that good. The spaghetti sauce is simple and uninspiring, the home-made spaghetti is nothing special (thicker would be better), salads are simple and plain. Its not bad, by any means, but nothing to write home about. The lunch special is a steal, the Tuesday-night spaghetti-night is well worth it, and the take-out bucket is great for the lazy family, but Lechuga's just doesn't stand-out in a neighborhood full of similar family-owned italian joints.
(2)Amy G.
Cheap good Italian... nuff said.
(4)Danny C.
The little devils are amazing!!!!! As a matter of fact i think I'm craving one right now!!!!!
(4)tina b.
The food is great for the price. If you are looking for atmosphere then this isn't the place. Super cheap and laid back. Service was amazing, I went through 3.5 dr. peppers and she was all over my refills. Glad there are still neighborhood joints around. Tuesday night spaghetti special is friggen awesome. for 3.99 you get a salad, meatball or sausage, 2 pieces garlic bread and homemade noodles and sauce. We showed up when they were supposed to be closing and weren't bothered one bit by having us there. And they didn't rush us out.
(4)Patty G.
I had driven past this place a number of times and finally decided to take my Italian Dinner Group there. This place is fantastic! Not only did they warmly welcome us, they completely accommodated our walk-in group of 22! One girl waited on our entire group and did a spectacular job! She provided great service and even gave all 22 of us separate checks. The food is delicious. I did not hear one complaint from our group. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The Little Devil canoli was very popular....and tasty too. And, my homemade (thick) spaghetti and meatballs/sausage was delicious. I will totally go back to this place again and again. Price was right too.
(5)Allison W.
This place is BIZARRE. I'm afraid, even 10 hours later I am still as confused as when I walked into the joint. First, there doesn't really seem to be a clear entrance. There is a glass door that seems to lead to an area that looks like perhaps it is a cashier, but, it also looks like the leftover parts of a kitchen (think steel and metal) and of course a glass case with food for sale. Is this a bakery? Is this a gift shop? Is this the entrance to the restaurant I'm trying to visit? We chose door number 2. A door with no windows that said "Lounge Entrance" (I still feel that there isn't a clear entrance - clarification below). This lead us to the most confusing eating space I quite possibly have ever encountered. It is like a 40's lounge had "sneak out the next morning" sex with a tacky sports bar.......and a strange little hybrid 40's sports lounge baby was the result. The lighting was horrendous and I could barely talk to my husband over the interesting clientele sitting at the bar using obscenities in every sentence NOT in their indoor voice. We landed at Lechuga's around 8 on a Tuesday. Lechuga actually means tongue in spanish, right? Tuesday hosts the pasta special...Spaghetti, bread and salad for $4.25. $4.25??? Whoa, that's a deal! But really, nothing on the menu is really more than $7 so you're going to get out of there on the cheap regardless if you go with the special or not. I mean, heck, my bud light was only $2.50. My hubs ordered the pasta special...which he equated to store bought everything. I ordered the little devil canoli. MORE CONFUSION! Is this thing a burrito? Is it a calzone? What the heck is it? After eating about half, I determined it was two piece of sausage sprinkled with a tiny bit of jalapeno, wrapped and maybe baked in a bread like wrapping, topped with cheese, pasta sauce (Ragu or Prego, I couldn't decide). topped with more cheese. It looks like a burrito. I was an edible Italian burrito. We each had two beers and our dinner and I ordered a half side order of bread for mine. Our tab was $20.21. Cheap? Yes. When we were leaving, we looked through the strange little metal kitchen room holding the cashier and the glass cases and saw THE REAL DINING ROOM. It didn't look nearly as strange. Hence, no discernible entrance. Apparently going in the glass door gets you to the normal part of this place. Cheap? Yes. Terrifyingly tacky and confusing? Yes. Going back? Nope. I'd go to Gaetanos or Patsys.
(1)Andrea W.
let me say this -- my five star review is based on the cannoli's NOT anything else on the menu. i've eaten at the actual restaurant a few times and i learned my lesson -- i only do take-out now and the only thing i take out are cannolis! my family is from denver and every time i go visit either my dad or my sisters, i ask how many cannolis they want me to bring to them because they are THAT delicious.
(5)David S.
$3.75 for a tasty sausage canoli (a dough wrapped sausage)? No way not since 1978 you say? HA! Lechuga's is a must for anyone looking for a tasty bargain meal. You can find me here at least once a week getting lunch for myself and the rest of the office. My four year old loves the canolis too.
(4)Doug Y.
Lechuga's is what remains of the old Carbone's italian restaurant. It's the same food, same menu. They do a large square deep dish pizza with an overly sweet sauce that isn't bad. It just isn't good. The main draw here are their sausage or meatball canoli's. The Devil has a spicy/hot green roasted chile pepper with sausage. The Super has sausage with a mild chile strip and cheese. The Tooty-toots is a meatball canoli. All three are good sized and easily a meal and they also have mini versions of the mild or hot sausage canoli's too. The bread dough used to wrap their canoli's has always been very good (ever had Carbone's Italian Bread? It's got to be the same recipe.) and the sausage too is nicely spiced and very tasty. If you go there to eat in, head to the right when you enter to go into the restaurant (go into the light) if you want to see what your eating ( the left side is a dark lounge atmosphere) but the canoli's are piled in the heated cases as you walk in the front door so buy a few and head to the park or take them back to work to enjoy. The three stars are for the canoli's. The pizza would only get 2 or 2 1/2 stars.

Lechuga's is an interesting place. It's old school, been around since all my friends were in diapers. I haven't actually dined there before, I have only been to the counter for a Devil. These things are hand-held food heaven. A Devil is basically 2 hot Italian sausages and a couple strips of green chiles wrapped up in what I presume is their pizza dough. It's a fancy pig in a blanket, if you will. The flavor is excellent, though, and if you like spicy food, the Devil is the way to go. The Supers are basically the mild version of the same thing, I believe (please correct me if I'm wrong there). They also sell "Mini-hots" and "Mini-milds, which are, you guessed it, miniature versions of the Devils and Supers. A full size Devil will run you about $3.50 + tax or so, add a buck if you want it smothered (with marinara and mozzerella cheese). I usually just go for the Devil and a small $.50 side of sauce and I'm good to go.

i hadnt been here in ages. the place has not really changed. go to the left you hit the bar. not appealing at all go to the right your in the restaraunt. the food is the same as it was before. good. price is good. we ordered salads which came 10 minutes after we ordered. we were a party of two a party of 8 came in after us got salads drinks and bread before us. hmmm maybe its best to go in with alot . we didnt get crackers we didnt get bread. service is not a plus here. but the food was very good.

What a dump - nothing like when the Carbone family had it...again, once it leaves the family, it'll go downhill.....
(1)Londell J.
wonderful pizza!!!
(4)Stacey L.
The Lasagna and Spaghetti & Meatballs from Lechuga's is so good The staff is great, quick and very friendly. They even gave us some extra items when the order ran a bit late one of the times we ordered take out. Would go back again!
(4)Jeff V.
I have loved this place for years and I am glad whom ever bought it is making it better but still has that north Denver feel!!!!
(5)Lucy H.
For the prices and quality you really can't beat It! I will say one of the people in our group ordered wine and it was served in a rocks glass. Maybe that would be my suggestion for management- appropriate cocktail ware. Other than that tiny thing it's a great place!
(4)Sara B.
I was worried when I heard that Lechuga's was under new ownership. They have been a North Denver staple for so many years and I grew up eating their canolis. Nothing comes close to them. So imagine my surprise when my husband and I came in for dinner and the new owner came over to introduce themselves and assure us that they are keeping their menu and that the canolis will stay exactly how they are. It's like she read my mind. We came back a couple of months later and, true to the owner's word, nothing changed. It is still the same Lechuga's that I love and they are still the same canolis that I binge on whenever they are in sight. I am a very happy camper.
(4)Annalisa S.
This place is pretty far out of my way, but I'd been told to try the lil devils numerous times so I decided to give it a shot. My dad and I had the smothered lil devil and smothered cannoli each and shared. We also ordered manicotti to go, for a later meal, as well as a side of meatballs. the manicotti was amazing and I'd totally go there for that again. The other stuff was pretty tasty, but I felt a little overhyped by my friend. I wouldn't complain about going there again, and their prices were great, but it's enough of a drive where I don't see myself going often.
(4)Michael K.
Devil's are the bomb! Sausage and jalapeno wrapped in fresh bread, not too hot....just right. Fresh and good for lunch
(5)Todd O.
Good food great prices nice family atmosphere, I can't believe I've lived in Denver 10 years before finding Lechuga's. It's easy to find Mexican restaurants here but good Italian is a little less common. Their Tues, Spaghetti night, is a cheap way to see if you like it. It's only 4.75 for a generous portion of good spaghetti a salad and garlic bread. Hard to beat a deal like that
(5)Angel B.
Lechugas has been around for yrs in the North Side!!! It has never failed me even after the changes its been thru! Lunch is a must try so delicious and the prices are damn right on point. You can get a lunch special for only $4.25! I recommend the Spaghetti with lil Devils (hot) and if your still hungry snatch up some items to go!!!
(5)Ryan W.
One of denvers best old school Italian food. Smothered lil devil (smothered in red sauce cheese and lettuce) is the way to go. Their gravy (red sauce) is incredible. Staff are as wonderful as the food. A+ in my book.
(5)Robert G.
So you know how it is when you remember a time when you had this particular dish and no matter what eating establishment you find yourself in you just can't seem to find the same item? That is exactly what I have been going through since the last time I ate a original sausage canoli. I haven't had one of these since someone brought them to the dealership for lunch. From that very first time I have been trying to find where they came from. Tonight after taking a wrong turn down Tejon I found it! These Sausage Canoli's (get the Hot) are exactly as I remembered.....Fantastic! Thank God some things don't change.
(4)Anthony P.
I love their lunch special! Recently I've noticed their improvements & much better service in the dining room! I would love to see Lachugas stick around for another 30 years.
(5)Laurie G.
Going to Lechuga's is like going back to my childhood. Different city, but I grew up going to an Italian restaurant with the same atmosphere. Fancy -no. Retro-feel - yes, especially on the larger south wing of the building where the bar and dance floor are located. Feels like a supper club. Friendly staff, good food, and reasonably priced -yes! They have great lunch specials - my favorite being spaghetti and meatball with the thicker noodles. It comes with a salad and garlic bread. The 'Little Devil' canoli much to my initial disappointment, are not the sweet, Sicilian dessert staple, which I would have caught if I had paid attention to the spelling. However, I deviated from my lunch favorite to try a little devil which is spicy Italian sausage rolled up and baked in pizza dough, then smothered in sauce. No wonder they sell so many of these! I was always wondering why there would sometimes be a line out the door at lunch time with people waiting to get their canoli to-go, but now it all makes sense. Ownership of this landmark restaurant recently changed. Another iconic Italian restaurant down the street sold to investors quite a few years ago: got a facelift, spiked up the menu prices, and left me with a very poor customer service experience - I haven't gone back. I'm hoping that the new owners of Lechuga's keep the essence of the place the same - it's why I go there.
(5)David M.
The atmosphere was really strange. There was a stage that has not been used in ten years. The music was awful. The juke box played Lionel Richie and a bunch of stuff from the 50 s. Service was slow. There antipasta plate consisted of lunch meat- Ham, salami. There salad was just a bunch of iceberg lettuce with no effort to make it taste good at all. We will never go back. I have no idea how they are still in business.
(1)Michele T.
The sausage cannoli and sauce are delicious! We always stop by to pick up 1-2 dozen of the minis if we are going to an event like a pot luck. They are always the hit of the party and there are never any left. And we also get them just for us at home. They freeze well, so we stock up!
(5)Stephie B.
Absolutely love this place! If you are in a pinch for s fantastic to go meal it is a must! Dining in is just as good. Friendly service and the food is awesome. The Devils and Sausage Canoli's are absolute must haves!
(5)Don B.
This is the best kept secret in North Denver for the famous Cannoli sausage sandwich. I have been eating here for 38 years. It's almost like being part of the family. To eat here, and not get a Cannoli is just wrong! Plan on standing in line, regardless of what time you arrive. The spaghetti bucket is not what made them famous in the first place. Don't order it!
(5)Christina T.
Love the bucket for takeout and dressing for the salad. Good stuff and you have leftovers for a couple days. Great deal!
(4)Kate D.
Love this neighborhood gem! I'm really hoping they don't sell and close up shop. Until then, I plan on stuffing my face with their delicious, smothered meatball cannolis. So good! And for under $6.00, it's one of the best deals in town. A make or break for a good Italian joint is their marinara sauce imo, and they definitely get brownie points for theirs. Super flavorful. I was basically spooing the sauce off my dish and I am not ashamed to say so.
(4)Krista S.
I have always love Lechugas been coming for years. Great canoli's AMAZING PRICES and familiar faces. I would have given 5 stars but... seems as though owners have change and Patsy the woman who has been my server nearly every time I've gone over the past ten years wasn't there :( when I had asked one of the staff members if she was still there they made very rude remarks about her in front of several customers ( very unprofessional) and made sure to inform us all that she is now in the back rolling canoli's, so as to not interact with customers. She was part of the lechugas experience and I will miss her dearly! And maybe the new staff should be more conscientious of speaking badly about someone that people adored!!!
(3)P F.
My first visit for dinner left me satisfied. Solid food quality, good service, and fair prices. Seems like a great place for large groups. I will return.
(4)Elisha G.
Love this hole in the wall Italian Restaurant. The place just got a small facelift but the food is still the same deliciousness I've always to loved. Born and raised in North Denver, a Super Smothered and a side salad with ranch are the usual. Sit in the bar side and enjoy the North Side natives or the new Highlands hipsters.
(4)Dave B.
2.46 stars so I will mark it as 3. A neighborhood institution. Dull food. The Little Devil canolo is OK. Indifferent service.
(3)D M.
We have been eating their cannolis for takeout for probably 15-20 years. They are amazing. A must try!!
(5)Sarah S.
Just finished some Little Devils and and an order of Manicotti to-go. We couldn't be more happy about our choice to try Lechuga's for the first time! Delicious. On another note, their staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and poised. While picking up my take out, a surly lady (that is a generously phrased description of her) was rolling her eyes and complaining about how part of the dining room was closed, despite the fact that there were plenty of other comfortable seats in the house to choose from. Her incredibly rude attitude was met with extreme politeness from the staff, as they went out of their way to accommodate her whims. I feel bad for the serving staff as this woman is likely still frowning her way through an order of delicious food. The customer is not always right, sometimes they are awful people with ridiculous requests... the fact that their staff was able to realize this, yet move past it seamlessly was very impressive. Kudos on all levels to Lechuga's front and back of house staff.
(5)LaShawn R.
Man, I can't even begin to express how good their cannoli's are! I was going to meet my friend for lunch on the north side one Saturday afternoon, and had to stop here just because I was on that side of town for a few cannoli's to go! When you walk into the restaurant, there is a to-go counter with a selection of the sausage cannoli's. The devil ones have just enough heat to allow you to have the tingle but still thoroughly enjoy the flavor. I usually get a mixture of the mini ones and the larger one. I always say I'm going to freeze, them, but they never seem to last long enough for me to do that...I'll just have to keep trying!!
(4)Josh H.
I love this place. The food is always amazing, fresh, and the service is like your family.
(5)Tres B.
I'm not a huge fan of Italian food, but this old school Denver institution has some nice things happening. The take out counter serving sausage stuffed canolis is pretty cool and the dish is delish. The meatball calzone is huge and very good. What's peculiar is the disinterested Latinas serving the food and the shabbiness of this joint. It doesn't have an Italian feel, its like a Mexican restaurant serving Italian. If I was in the neighborhood I might stop again, but its not a destination restaurant, no matter the old school cred.
(3)Samantha S.
Came here for take- out... we got The Sausage Canoli's(3) and the Meatball Canoli (smothered in cheese and sauce- on the side). Loved them all. Won't go into too much detail, as many others have.... but wanted to give my two cents on liking it :)..... When ordering to go food, they do not have 'to go' cups, so if you want to have something to drink, you have to get it somewhere else, or from the Pepsi vending machine next to the counter .... PS, Every Tuesday is Spaghetti Night... ridiculously priced at 4.50 a person which includes Bread, salad, meatball/sausage.... dine in, 5-9 :) I may try that , I really liked the sauce!! PSS, our meal was like less than $15 :) Yeahhhhh!!!!!
(4)Shay L.
I went here only once and I had heard really great things about it. The problem is that when I went in no one bothered to come over for a least ten minutes. We finally gave up and left. It makes me sad because I really wanted to try the food that I had heard about.
(1)Leslie O.
I just went here for lunch for the first time a couple of days ago and it was definitely an experience! It was the middle of lunch rush, so we were seated in the back area...which is basically an old school lounge...complete with the vinyl half moon booths, the black light and random "murals" on the wall. I had the lunch special which is a sausage wrapped in pizza dough with cheese sauce and lettuce on top. I really don't understand what the lettuce was doing up there, to be quite honest. The sauce was just ok- a bit sweet for my tastes and the sausage was bland as well. As mentioned before- if you want to si, it is self seating, so make sure that you make eye contact with a waiter or waitress as you're walking to your table so they know you're sitting there. Otherwise, it could be a while. I don't think that the food was good enough for me to return...but it was extremely inexpensive!
(2)Mary Jo S.
You cannot beat the Tuesday spaghetti night special at Lechuga's; you get a plate of spaghetti, sausage/meatball, bread, and salad for $4.25! I add the homemade noodles for $1.00 extra and it was a hearty meal. We sampled the mini canoli (spicy and mild) for $1.45 each and drank $2.50 beers (a pitcher of Bud is $6.75, just saying). We felt like we were back in college and it was fun: Jukebox was playing and tables were filled. The take out line for the Buckets of Pasta and savory canoli was long and constant throughout the night. I will come back to get take out, as an Italian woman told me she could not make the meal for the price. So overall experience was great and the price point was perfect. Lechuga's gets the extra star for the price point, we walked away spending $25.00 per couple and that included several drinks and appetizers each.
(4)Sunchild O.
Mannn I hate seeing Lechuga's get bashed on Yelp!! If your a fancy pants kind of person, then maybe just take a cannoli or little devil to go. Make sure it's smothered! The atmosphere is definitely nothing fancy and it is family run. But I honestly get a kick out of the place. The little old lady waitress might be a little off, but I can't help but still enjoy her weirdly somehow. If you are going to sit down and eat here, please be patient and think about all the good things in life. It could always be worse! Five stars for this place hands down! All you new yuppy Highlands people can go away :)
(5)Bc C.
sadly, just like everything on the northside, or should i say lohi, this place has been gentrified. they raised their prices to where i won't be going back anytime soon. i miss the northside.
(2)Austen H.
My co-works first brought me a "little devil" and I really enjoyed it. I just though well that was good. I hadn't been there but this time I went! The place is a bit out of sorts and could use a remodel but the food is really good. We get them to go and that is really good because we can eat them in the office. Check the place out it is good food and the prices are great. We got a ton of food for like $18. We love to go here on lunch but go before 11:30am or it's packed.
(4)Russell G.
Came here to try the "little devils" and was disappointed. Absolutely nothing special about them. Save your money. Further, the place looks haggard and in dire need of remodeling...at least in the dining room. There was a bar on the opposite side of the entrance but I didn't bother going in there because I just wanted to get out of this place ASAP.
(2)Tracie B.
Some restaurants are dives and some are just dumps. Dives often have something (the food, the service or the atmosphere) that make people want to come back. Dumps are, well just unattractive, unclean places with bad to average food and indifferent service. Lechuga's... is a dump. There is nothing appealing about the food, service or the atmosphere. The sausage cannoli was a lump of sausage (which tasted just okay) encased in huge lump of cooked dough covered in overly sweet marinara sauce. Some would find it traditional Italian, but I found it just plan boring. Our waitress was friendly but never bothered to refill our drinks or ask how our meal was. This all constitutes a 2-3 star review. Here's the kicker - I have rarely ever seen a public restroom as disgusting and filthy as the ladies room at Lechuga's - and for that I can't in good conscience give it more than 1 star. Uck - never going back.
(1)Detric E.
Our server was very sweet. The food was lacking. I had a bowl of spagetti and meatballs with a little devil on the side. The sauce was the equivalent of Ragu. I wont be going back to eat there.
(3)Shary C.
Wonderful yummy food, love the cannolis with green chili. Five stars great place for dinner or a quick lunch. Or take out and enjoy at home.
(5)Greg D.
Do yourself a favor and check this place out. This is some of the best sausage and meat ball subs you'll ever have. Dont go to Lechuga's for the atmosphere go for the great food!
(5)Sarah J.
GROSS!!! We went for the Tuesday Night Spaghetti Special which I realize is really cheap but so is a can of Chef Boyardee! I mean how do you mess up garlic bread?! The salad, sauce, & garlic bread were all gross and so was the atmosphere! Patsy's Italian is soooo much better in every way! It's all about the sauce when it comes to good Italian food and Lechugas does NOT have it!
(1)Cherie G.
I was born and raised in North Denver (I refuse to call it "Highlands"), so this was a regular spot for me as a kid. I hadn't been back in YEARS, so when a group of us went to Gaetano's and were given an hour wait time, I decided to hike the troops to Lechuga's. Some things never change... When you walk in, the tables are on three levels, which face the "stage". It kind of reminds me of Ricky Ricardo's club, The Tropicana, if it were still around today... and if they served Italian food... and if it was in North Denver. The real eye candy is the neon mural on the wall. It's of the Vegas Strip, but not the current Vegas Strip... the 1967 Vegas Strip. The tables were small, which made for little to no room for our food and drinks. Our first waitress wasn't very good. We all ordered a plethora of food and salads. Everyone at my table received their salad except for me. The waitress finally brought my salad once everyone else received their entrees. Then, I had my salad for a few minutes, but never received my food. I looked back and saw it sitting on an empty table in back of us. I ordered a small, mild canoli and a small, hot canoli (for a whopping total of $2.90). I was given two hot canolis, but I decided not to send them back because I was starving! They were tasty, but quite spicy. My husband ordered the Elegante. It was a large canoli filled sausage, smothered with red sauce and topped with melted cheddar/jack cheese and shredded lettuce. Lettuce? Cheddar/Jack cheese? On a canoli? What?! It was SO random! If a smothered burrito and a manicotti had intercourse, the Elegante would be what their love child would look like. If you order the spaghetti, definitely order the hand-made noodles! They were SO good! The beer selection was pretty much nonexistent. Husband had to settle for Bud Light, which made him a sad panda inside. The band started playing and it was our queue to move on to our next destination. Overall, Lechuga's is very inexpensive and the food isn't bad.
(3)Digitel R.
Always get take out. Call in your Pizza (Sausage, Pepperoni. and Jalapeno.) Hands down the best pizza in town. Little Devils are awesome.. but again, Get it to Go.. its the best way to experience Lechugas. Don't expect a fancy restaurant - its a bar/lounge with Italian food. We have ate there a few times and each time the experience is always the same. Piss poor service and crappy atmosphere... Where ever they get their Italian sausage i would like to know so i could replicate these at home but until then once every few months is a nice treat. I wonder if Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives would do a show on this place... then ill know where the sausage comes from... Remember always get it to go. Pizza and little devils
(5)Melisa A.
Devil love when they are hot they are sooo Yummy. I have also had a super that has no green chili in cheese and marinara sauce.
(4)Jaime N.
My boyfriend and I ended up using the Yelp Monocle feature on our smart phone and happily stumbled upon Lechuga's! The two restaurants that we initially wanted to try were both closed, so we weren't too sure by the time we made it to Lechuga's. Something to keep in mind when you get there - the restaurant is self seating, so don't stand there with your gomper open like we did waiting for a host. Go have a seat and the staff will see you and get you taken care of. The prices are CRAZY good - I got fresh baked manicotti (you know it's fresh because the menu warns you that you'll be waiting for 30 minutes) and a salad for $7! Yep! $7! They seemed to have a lot of take out orders and only a few folks in the restaurant. They also had a lounge area for drinks, but we didn't go back there. All in all, I would say if you are up for a chill night out with your friends or partner, give Lechuga's a try!
(3)Michelle S.
Awesome cannolis!! The meatball and sausage are both delicious!! I've only ever been for lunch and it always had great prices and fast service. I love this little hidden gem!!
(4)DD T.
I know they're not traditional "cannoli"s, but, fantastic little devils and sausage rolls. And definitely not what you would expect in this neighborhood. I will be back, and soon!
(4)Bruce F.
They call it a cannoli but its a sausage wrapped in bread dough and then baked. I've been going to this place for 31 years and I can only hope to be going for another 31 plus years. Best lunch under $5.
(5)Corrina y.
Little Devils!!! These are a must, I get them to go and smother them at home, but I always have to get a hot mini for the drive home, because that is just torture smelling that great food. I have been coming to this place since I was just a child some 30 odd years ago, and I have introduced it to my husband and my kids. I will be eating here for the rest of my life. Oh yeah and the prices are great too.
(5)R. R.
Ok; Here's the deal- I've been coming to this place since I was a kid (direct shout out to all you "just" moved here gentrification-ites expecting a commercialized-chain-restaurant-esq environment) & this place is LEGITimate!!!! Couple pointers: *I HIGHLY recommend the Canoli's (hey, what they are known for)!!! *I also love the pizza & garlic bread :-) *salad & spaghetti is so-so, SEE ABOVE recommendations Everyone & I mean EVERYONE I have ever brought here has absolutely LOVED both the food & prices. Doesn't matter which acquaintance I brought: upper, middle, lower class; White, Black, Hispanic, Asian, Native- they ALL adore the Mom & Pop feel; not to Mention character of this place. My boyfriend flies in from UNM-ABQ to visit & our 1st stop every time we're coming back from DIA is Lechugas. Have another friend from DC that does the same!! After going away to college I've been all over, Boston, San Fran, Philly, even Europe, ect....never tasted a sauce spiced this way in my life. Closest was this hole in the wall place that serves Italian Subs in Medford, MA. SOOO; to all you "Bourgeoisie" people- get over yourselves & find the closest "Garden of the Olive;" this place is obviously not for you. BY THE WAY the food is NOT canned or reheated. My dad worked here in the 90's & nearly all of the food is fresh & still has the same great taste. Also- it's a hybrid American neighborhood restaurant to answer all those "confused" misfits on here. Simple answer- 2 owners, one's Hispanic, the other is Italian & the neighborhood goes way back as a Hispanic/Latino AMERICAN neighborhood, so yes there is some inclusion...but this in America folks....tomatoes are Indigenous to the United States- NOT Italy, so get off your high horses & stop claiming your authenticity nonsense. The Italian food US Americans are used to is actually Italian-American geniuses. This is an ORIGINAL restaurant, with a great niche that adapted to its main cliental. This place actually HAS been remodeled; to prove it- I even learned how to do the electric slide on the lounge side here 20 years ago when the Nuggets Logo on the wall was Rainbow colored. Back in the day the chairs were those old-school uncomfortable metal backs & the décor was 60's or 70's, so the dinning side is more comfortable nowadays- but it's usually best to get it to go unless you plan on drinking or having a large get together. Again, if you are afraid of a little "character"- keep moving...you should try Parker or possibly Highlands Ranch; they have several commercialized-chain-restaurants to your liking. I cannot stress how great the prices are here, especially for the taste (believe me when I say Mr. Boyardee doesn't come close). Again I can bring an entire group, like I did for my 21st birthday, & feed them, soda included; for around $50. That is cheaper than Micky D's PLUS; it's a sit down-support your local economy- real Mom & Pop place that has REAL history & real people. So here's to Lechugas ~Salud!~ to your oh-so-amazing-conglomerate-goodness of North Denver!!!!!!!!!!
(5)Terry B.
I have a tale straight from bizzarro land Seinfeld-style. What happens when four white people stumble into a place looking for a drink and there's a salsa band rocking out great Latin music? They dance...like white people trying to dance salsa. Everyone watches and laughs at them, they have a blast and then go home. I know, it's a short tale. We had no idea what we were getting into, but had a blast getting into it. They've got cheap drinks, the band was awesome, service was decent, the people were awesome and overall the night was awesome. I'll have to come back and visit for food.
(4)Gabby A.
Absolutely TERRIBLE food and service. We sat ourselves at a dirty table which got wiped down a few minutes later by the disinterested waitress. We were asked if we wanted to buy pirated DVD's before our waitress even asked us what we wanted to drink. The silverware she served us was dirty and was quickly swiped back and given to some guy that sat down 10 minutes after us and got his food 15 minutes sooner. Food which tasted like it came from a can, by the way. The garlic bread was cold and soggy, the food wasn't too hot (temperature wise) either and was HORRIBLE. I have no idea how this place is still in business. My dad's beer was served with an old, dry lime that looked like it had been used by 3 people before us. I can only assume people come here because they all know each other, it seems like a family business without the home-cooked taste. GROSS. NEVER GOING BACK EVER!!! No idea where these good reviews are coming from, makes me question the reliability of Yelp.
(1)Kendra R.
Little hole in the wall with great carolis/calzones. Get em to go but you'll stand in line for a bit. Get it smothered with cheese. Friendly staff. Don't be scared off by the graffiti on the building or the bars on the window. Ladies you may want to bring your own roll of TP and some hand sanitizer if you use the restroom.
(3)David T.
I love me some Lechuga's!! Although it'll always be Carbone's to me. But, there are a few things you need to know. 1) Serious dive - you are not here for the atmosphere although I notice lots of my fellow Yelpers have no problem with that. I think that's a good thing because some of the best food is in dives. I wouldn't recommend staying for Karaoke or other late night foolishness, however. This would have to be described as a transitional neighborhood. 2) There are only a handful of things worth eating, they are: -The cannoli (not the sweet kind) but really Italian pigs in a blanket. (they also do a small size called "little devils" (spicy) or minis (mild) - The pizza, if you order as I am about to tell you. Rectangular, medium crust (not too thick, not too thin). Don't even think of pasta or other menu items. Just say no. 3) I think they recruit servers from the rode hard, put up wet academy so don't expect Paris Hilton (oh, never mind, maybe you should). So, what you want to do is go early evening (or lunch for takeout) - sit in their dark, sketchy bar and order a pitcher of cheap beer. Order a pizza if you didn't think to call it in ahead of time. My favorite is cheese, onion and extra sausage (which is homemade and the best in the city). Maybe get some "minis" and a side of their sweetish red sauce to dunk them in and wait for a truly great pizza. Other than the homemade sausage, which I am totally addicted to, I am soooo into the crust. It actually has flavor. Yeasty, buttery almost. So unlike most of the cardboard you find, even at fancy schmancy pizza joints. Almost like a crisp dinner roll that mom used to make - I'm getting moist here. Then, you get the check (around $20) and head for the hills before the drunks start screeching "You are the wind beneath my wings".
(4)Mara M.
Went for Saturday lunch the door was Alright the service sucked every one we came in contact was RUDE and did not care we was there
(1)James S.
Get the little devils , a must stop for out of towners for good food.
(5)
