Spectacular! One simple word for for a simply amazing Mexican food restaurant. Las Caras keeps their quality high by making all of their sauces in-house (I'm partial to the enchilada sauce). All of their beans are vegetarian so the menu is open to just about anyone. They keep the menu simple which is good because the food is consistent and satisfying. This place gets packed on some days during the lunch hour but the wait is not usually not more than 5 minutes. I have been coming here for 6 years and have never been let down! Come and enjoy :)

I was excited to try based on the reviews...but disappointed. Not authentic Mexican food. Everyone working was very nice.

Sorry, I wrote the wrong review, so I am changing this. It still sucks, just not as bad as the place I was trying to review. I guess when you eat at so many restaurants, and so many suck, it's easy to get confused. This place is not nearly as repulsive as some, but I still consider this place to be a waste of money. Cheers!

We followed the recommendation of a neighbor and finally tried out this unassuming establishment near our house. So glad we did! DELICIOUS and reasonably priced. The chips and salsa were great. The black pepper they use adds a unique flavor. They do charge a dollar for them, but it's well worth it and they give you plenty. The chile rellenos were excellent, as were the enchiladas. Cooked to perfection; fresh ingredients. There are no rice and beans automatically served on the side of their dishes, which I like because I don't eat those anyway and including them raises menu prices. We had a wonderful meal out with expedient service for under $20. We will be back!

Fantastic food, great service, awesome family owned restaurant atmosphere. I've been going here for the past 2-3 years and the food is always good.

We stopped by for lunch since we were at the Target next door and was really disappointed in the food. Wasn't expecting anything exciting but it was just mediocre food. it was quite fast so I am assuming much of it is already prepared and they just scoop it out onto the plate to serve. It shows in the taste. Just because it's family owned doesn't mean that family knows how to make good food or run a restaurant well! There are many great Mexican restaurants around the area so we won't be spending our money here again.

Not so good. The food was so average, I found myself putting salt, pepper and salsa on everything. The margarita was just OK. I always get a relleno. I am a relleno expert I would say, and this wasn't even in the ballpark. The guacamole had no flavor whatsoever, and so bland I took the lime from my margarita and tried to enhance the flavor. Just not good. The staff was super friendly.

This place is fantastic. We live close by and is far an away our favorite Mexican place in Denver. The green chilli is unreal and the crispy chilli rellenos are awesome (and actually crispy). All the food is good and I wold highly recommend this place! I've seriously tried Mexican food across the West and I've never found a place I like better.

i'll admit i didn't know this place existed until i was taken there by my girlfriend and her sister. they've been going there since they were mini sized apparently and it's their favorite place for mexican. i'm not a huuuge mexican person, but i'll admit i love a good fajita and chips and salsa. i've been dragged there a handful of times with my girlfriend, have yet to go there on my own, which is a shame because it's pretty darn good. the first time we went i just had some of the chips and salsa. pretty good, nothing spectacular but decent. the second time around, i got green chile cheese fries. yummm. the fries were crispy, the green chile was yummy, and the cheese was melted just right. i had a bite of my girlfriend's rice, mmm. a lot like chipotle's. third time, we split a chicken fajita. very good and flavorful, no complaints. now the other couple times i didn't get anything, but if i was the type of person who craved mexican, i'd pick this place. the atmosphere is friendly, it's never been too busy in my experience. thumbs up.

I love Mexican food! I goto every one I find. This place was a shocker to me. The food bottom line is great. The atmosphere is.... Who cares the food is really good. That's all I am looking for.

I've never cared enough to write a review, but I have moved away from Denver and was searching for recipes that would satisfy the green chili craving. I ate at Las Cars 2-3 times a week for lunch. (it is close to the office) I miss it and it is sooooo delicious. I recomend the Nachos or the Quesadilla ....

Average at best... There's nothing really authentic about this place except maybe the music. I had steak tacos and my lady had a burrito, both things you can't screw up too bad. I'd give it a few notches above Taco Bell. It doesn't make any sense to read some of the "better" reviews, because it is clear they've never had authentic Mexican recipes. For instance, to say that their salsa is all the rave is just crazy!!! News flash people, restaurants like this all over the country mix grocery store Pace with fresh ingredients, and call it their own!! 2 stars was generous to say the least.

Went here the other day. The food is good, but it's not authentic mexican food by a long shot. Maybe should be called new mexican cuisine. The chile relleno is more like a cheese stuffed chile egg roll. It's good, just not what you would expect from a chile relleno. Definitely a good stop close to the apartment.

THIS is the Mexican restaurant I have been searching for! I had a delicious burrito smothered in cheese and green chili and it was perfection. My friends raved about the Rellenos, so that is next on my list to try. The service was friendly and fast. Regina took great care of us. I will absolutely be returning.

Las Caras is the sort of place where you can get a delicious meal without having to worry about what you are wearing or whether or not you brushed your hair. I mean, I'm not suggesting you stop in there covered in cat hair and wearing pajamas or anything, but I think they'd probably still serve you, with a smile, if you came in looking like that. I really enjoy their food. The food tastes very fresh. Nothing is what I would call spicy, but you can actually taste the ingredients which is what I look for in Mexican. I love their salsa. It's a bit on the sweet side but it's a good consistency (not chunky) and the red onion flavor is tasty. Their guac is really good too. The service is great, everyone is very friendly. And here is where they score huge bonus points with me - their iced tea is fabulous. I was raised by southern folk and we're a tad bit particular about our iced tea so I can't help but judge a place by their tea. The tea here is great. Always fresh, never weak, perfect!

Some Mexican restaurants are great because they are so 'authentic', whatever that means. From my admittedly gringo perspective, I don't think Las Caras can claim 'authentic'. However, it can easily claim a similarly important attribute: "good". I love the simpleness of their food, and their smothered chicken burritos in particular. It's easy for chicken burritos to be bland and boring, but these rise above. Their red onion salsa is as good as advertised. I've not had a bad meal here (been going for years) and occasionally enjoy the rellanos, enchiladas, etc but the burrito is my favorite. And it's comforting, of course, to have people of Asian heritage serving you tasty Mexican food in Denver.

Pretty average overall. I didn't like their salsa. Got a combo w a burrito and Chile relleno. Burrito was decent. Relleno was very tasty. If I go back I'll stick w rellenos as they're really good.

The fAmily owned restaurant is far from authentic mexican good. Everything comes from a can including the beans and the waitstaff for the most part is friendly. Ingot one waitress got my order wrong but did not want to be wrong she did fix the issue and brought the proper item. I would go further down the road to la cocina de Marcos owned by Hispanics with authentic mexican food and very cheap. Las Caras over charges for their food and drinks when it all Comes from cans

Not terrible, but you can easily find much better Mexican food without having to look very hard. The food was decent, but the menu is somewhat small and disappointing - no fajita plates, and no seafood on the menu, for example. There's not really any ambience to speak of; the place looks more like a smalltown diner on the inside. Prices are good though, and the food is quality enough to make it a good value. Overall, it's a good place to stop if you're starving at lunch and close by; but if you're going searching for great Mex, keep looking.

I'm from San Diego and I moved to Denver 6 months ago. I haven't been able to find any decent Mexican food since I got here, and I've been craving a good carne asada burrito for months. Las Caras isn't exactly what I was looking for, it's nowhere near as good as back home, but man was it tasty. I wouldn't really call it authentic mexican food, but it's certainly better than Chipotle or any of the other things around. It was an actual hand held burrito and it wasn't smothered which was great. (What is the obsession with smothering burritos around here??) The service was great and the place wasn't too packed.

Cool little restaurant in the strip mall next to the new Target going up. It wasn't very easy to find and I'd never have stumbled across without Yelping it. I'm glad I did though. We sat down around 6:30 and had our food really quickly. We both had smoothered burritos. I had ground beef in mine smoothered with enchilada sauce. My wife had grilled chicken smoothered with green chili. We both really enjoyed our meal. I never had an empty glass, and we had great service. The price was great, but I would have rather had another couple bucks built into the bill and been provided free chips and salsa. I'd rather not have to pay a couple bucks for chips & salsa. The food could have used a bit more spice too to be fair, but it was still good.

I was pretty surprised to see all the high ratings people have given to las Caras. I'm not saying that my meal was bad, but it just wasn't anything special. Basic texmex joints like this one are common place in any city let alone Denver. The chips, cheese, and tortillas were all store bought. The salsa was chunky but the tomatoes were canned and it was just way too sweet. If you want something more authentic, try La Loma or Los Carboncitos.

Las Caras Rocks! I have been there ten times and it is my favorite place! Michelle takes very good care of us every time and I love Regina and Steve! Awesome Salsa and Guac...and my wife is love with the Hyde Park. Every time I go to or leave Denver I drop by...it is convenient and cool! Thanks!

This place is a great small family run restaurant. I love the chicken enchiladas and the rice. The grilled chicken is cubed and has a wonderful flavor. My husband loves the smothered burrito(ground beef) with rice and green chilie. The service is always friendly and fast. The walls are line with painting done by one of the family members and pictures of the family. Don't order the margaritas, but a beer if you want alcohol.

The service was fantastic! That being said, the food was good, not great. They charge $1.00 for chips and salsa. Totally worth it! We ordered the special: bean and ground beef burrito, smothered, rice and beans on the side. Beans tasted canned. Rice was ok. The burrito was good. I loved the green chili smothering the burrito. I would go here again, but will be trying other Mexican restaurants looking for that full five-star place.

I live very close by and was craving some Mexican. Don't let the strip mall vibe fool you! I ordered to go combination cheese enchilada, taco, and chili releno. Plus a cup of their green chili. The salsa was amazing and the food was great! They had my order ready in 15 minutes. Yum!
this place is pretty fantastic. the service is phenomenal. the servers are so friendly and welcoming. the food is so delicious it makes you wish you had an extra stomach. the decor is weird and it's small and those are my two reasons for knocking it off a star. be careful if you order a side of sour cream with your YUMMY smothered burrito - as it's like 1/2 cup of sour cream (more than enough to share). LOVED my burrito, rice & beans and was entirely too full to touch the enchildada. hope you come here & enjoy!

The staff was attentive and friendly. I ordered the fajita burrito and when it came a I was a little disappointed because it came wrapped in tinfoil like a chipotle burrito, to be fair it did say it was a handheld burrito on the menu. Anyways once I took a few bites my mind completely changed. Great tasting Ingredients and I would recommend the steak, I thought it was marinated perfectly. The real special thing about this place though is the salsas. I had the hot salsa in my burrito which wasn't very hot but had great flavor and the mild one did as well, they both had a subtle fruity flavor. Will definitely be returning again.

Came for lunch on Wednesday. They had a good sized crowd, but with only two servers, so it was a bit slow. The servers though were nice. They failed the chips and salsa test. The initial salsa they brought out had huge chunks of stewed tomatoes and was too sweet. It did have a nice hint of spice to it. When they brought out my meal I asked for more salsa. She asked if I wanted medium or hot. She had brought out mild earlier. I asked for medium, but was disappointed when she brought a tomatillo salsa. I'm not a big fan of tomatillo salsas and this one wasn't very good. For my entree I ordered the #2 combination, which I got the ground beef taco, cheese enchilada and the steak smothered burrito. Overall the food was pretty good and the portions are excellent. The price was reasonable, but they charge $1 for chips and salsa.

The only reason I'm rating 2 stars is because they do have good food. The service, however, is TERRIBLE. I live accross the street and get take out from the restaurants accross the street alot, including Las Caras. My boyfriend and I called an order in the other night, they said it'd be 20-30 minutes. Then when we said we'd be paying over the phone with a card they said our order would take an extra hour and a half! We then decided to pay cash. When I went to pick up the food the lady at the front desk told me it'd be another 10 minutes. I was ok with this since I needed to do some shopping at target. When I went back (15 minutes later) the lady said 5 more minutes. I say whatever and ask for the bill. She runs my card, hands me my bill and then comments "if you don't tip this time we won't give you your food." Now I'm furious!! I work in the restaurant industry and have never received nor given a tip on a to go order. What has this lady done to deserve a tip? Anyway, after her comment I ripped up the credit card receipt without signing it and went to the pizza place next door. I'd rather go to Taco Bell than give these people my service ever again.

I have have been eating at this places for years and years . The food is always fresh and tastes amazing. The hot sauces are home made, some of the best I have ever had. The owners are cooking and service is always good. Try the guacamole chicken tostadas. Truly a family restraunt.

This place is pretty good, its across the street from my place, so when I'm not looking to pay too much or go too far i come here on occasion. The portions are very generous and the staff is friendly and family ran. Tends to get busy so obviously people line this place, id recommend checking it out if you're in the area.

Service is impeccable here. It is a small first come first serve place but it is worth the wait. I believe the owners are part of the kitchen staff and they have warm smiles that welcome everyone. Margaritas rock and their chili that smothers many of their plates is yummy and very savory.

Kat S.
Small hidden little place with good food. Enchiladas are delicious. Most dishes seem to be a bit too salty. Portions are good and the price isn't bad. It can get pretty busy at times and because of that the service definitely suffers. But it is worth your time to check this place out.

I wasn't very impressed with this place. I wouldn't go here if you are craving MEXICAN. It SEEMS that this place would like to cater to healthy people who would like to eat mexican STYLE meals... however, nowhere does it say that the ingredients are organic or prepared in healthy ways. Not really a place i would come back to based on my experience.

The food is a little pricy and it's very average. I got the stuffed grill steak burrito. Just a plain ol' burrito if you're around the area. Definitely nothing spectacular, but that's just my opinion because this place is always packed.

Very disappointing.... The 1st thing they don't serve complimentary chips and salsa. Their prices are kind of high not to be doing chips and salsa. Their menu was very limited. My normal combo is a cheese enchilada, bean burrito, and a guacamole tostada. They did not have this combo. Going through the menu a cheese enchilada is $5.00 .... yes just for one. The best service of my meal was when the waitress let me sub a guac tostada for a taco. How ever I did get charged for that. Which would have been ok considering I didn't have meat in my burrito. There was nothing special about this food, and there green chili is below average in taste. As far as service is concerned my waitress took my order and brought my food. Not much else to say. Not a place I want to return to.

This is a mom & pop restaurant that it just feels good to go to. The same family has run it for many years, but the food and friendliness are still fresh. The dishes are big and delicious, and prices reasonable (two of us often leave quite full for under $25, usually including a beer or two). The salsa is yummy - it has a "secret ingredient" (not so secret, they will tell you) which makes it a little sweeter than usual, and it's served with hot, thin, salty chips. The menu isn't huge, but the burritos are. Get them "smothered" for best results. :-)

I was in the restaurant business for 15 years (serving mexican food), and I can honestly say that Las Caras is the best Mexican food around! Between the breakfast burritos, and chicken smothered burritos, I am taking out or in the restaurant at least once a week. And over a 7 year period, i can honestly say that I have never had a bad meal! The green chili is second to none, and the chicken rivals (if not beats) Chipoltle. If I had one critisism, it would be that I am not a big fan of the red salsa (too oniony/vinegary for me).

One of my favorite Mexican spots in Denver. The waitstaff is super friendly and the food is legit. I've tried just about everything on the menu and the Chicken anything wins.

Las Caras is my wife and I's favorite Mexican restaurant in Denver. I'm from Los Angeles and am spoiled at the plethora of choices there but not much here in Denver. Nothing compares to L.A. in the mexican food scene but Las Caras rocks. There's a reason why Las Caras is always packed. They're consistent and their food is always good.

Yes! The quest for good Mexican has finally resulted in a success. After trying many of the usual suspects and throwing my hands up in frustration, a friend brought me to his go-to Mexican spot--the easy to miss and relatively non-descript Las Caras. The food, though, is anything but boring. A couple of thoughts: 1. Ambience: cozy, interesting art on the walls, and casual. As I mentioned, its tucked away in a non-descript mall, so I'm not sure they get many drive by customers; on the positive side, there was no wait! 2. Food: the red onion salsa is fantastic; seriously, fantastic. I ordered a combination platter--10 bucks later and armed with leftovers for another meal, I was in Mexican food heaven (or coma, rather). Awesome, flavorful food with high quality ingredients. And even better--all super veggie friendly. The beans and rice are 100% veggie, without lard/chicken stock. So get into your car, zip down I-25, and voila! Good Mexican awaits!

I like this place because it has decent prices, good food, and is very very cozy. I should give it 4 stars if I compare it with Mexican restaurants I've been to in CA, or TX. However, for Denver is as good as it gets. The food ingredients are always fresh and the portions are more then enough. I usually go there for the less then $4 breakfast burritos (Amazing) and for the Taco Salad. I get the Taco salad, with chicken, and spanish rice instead of the beans + medium salsa. Fantastic! Drink wise, they are ok considering they don't have a bar. A few mexican beers and some liquors. The Margaritas are "cheap mixed" drinks. I had one once and I never had one since. However, remember they don't have a bar. I go there for the food. The service is always great. It is a family own business, and I believe everyone who works there (kitchen and wait staff) are related. All of them are very nice people.

Las Caras is a small, quaint, family restaurant. Booths line the wall, smaller tables in the middle, small tables towards the kitchen to the bathrooms. I truly liked the smaller atmosphere, direct view of the kitchen and wait staff. They move in and out, I did not have to wait long for the waitress to take my drink order and order of chips and salsa. Everything came fast, with a smile, and I never felt rushed at any time. Ordered dinner combo number #6, which has a taco, smothered burrito and a chile relleno. Came with rice, refried beans, tomato, lettuce and sour cream. This plate, stuffed with food, was only $10. Ordered the chips and red onion salsa which was good. The salsa was a little too sweet for me, but had a wonderful flavor. I reached for the cholula sauce, which the waitress picked up on immediately and asked if I would like a hotter salsa. Bonus for being attentive. She brought out the hottest salsa at no extra cost. The hotter salsa was incredible. You can tell the tomatoes and onions were roasted, and it was nice and spicy. The rice was good, went well with the dinner. The beans were creamy and very tasty. I see where other people railed on this in previous reviews, I however found nothing wrong with them, nor were they dry. The dinner was incredibly tasty, my favorite meal while I was in Denver. The taco was simple with ground beef, cheese and lettuce. The corn tortilla shell was delicious, crunchy and tasty. The chile relleno was different than I have had in that it looked like a larger egg roll with the chile stuffed with cheese inside. The outside was perfectly crispy. The chile itself fit nicely, given the smaller portion, and the cheese was oozing when cut into. This went real well with the green chile sauce from the smoothered burrito and the spicy salsa. The smothered burrito really stole the dinner. I had mine filled with steak. The steak itself were cubed portions of steak which I enjoyed in comparison to sliced steak. The steak was filled throughout the burrito. My recommendation is to top it with the hot salsa and add a few dashes of cholula sauce. For the cost point, quality and taste, as well as a very diligent and friendly wait staff, Las Caras gets my nod this go 'round in Denver. I will definitely be back on my next visit. Total bill, including two Tecates came to $20 and change. My drink bill was almost as much as the meal! Had I stuck with just water it would have been around $11 plus tax. That is amazing given the flavor and quantity.

We usually stop in and grab takeout from here but being in the area, we stopped in for lunch. The staff is always pleasant and more than accommodating. The food here is traditional mexican fare, and better than a lot of places out there as well as always consistent. The green chile is flavorful and sometimes has a good kick to it which is nice. The rellenos are very good as are the enchiladas. My gf loves the steak burrito and says it is very well seasoned and flavorful. Only thing I'm not a fan of is the salsa that accompanies the chips as I'm not a fan of chunky tomatoes and theirs is pretty chunky. It does has good flavor however. Definitely a place that we like. Gets very busy very quickly at lunch time during the week if you're not in the door around 11.

We absolutely live this restaurant! We've been going for about 6 months pretty consistently and the staff always greets us as family and know our order by memory. It is a pretty small place and there is usually a wait on Friday and Saturday nights but it is delicious and worth the short wait.

I'm always on the hunt for good Mexican food. A few days ago I found pretty darn good Mex that really has that homemade flair. High points of deliciousness: 1. Their guac, while simple in appearance, is smooth and spicy. I dare you to take just one bite! 2. Their red onion salsa is so good (and famed) that you can get it to go - in pint-size. 3. Try the tacos. I can't remember the last time I had such a crunchy, delicious shell. It comes with mild, medium, or spicy green salsa on the side - I have to attest that the medium has good flavor. And they are not shy with the taco toppings here. 4. This place just feels comfortable. It's in a nondescript little strip mall off Tamarac so it doesn't scream "GET YOUR MEX HERE!" but I kind of like that. That is all!

Mediocre Food, Poor Value I tried this restaurant for lunch and left very unimpressed. There is no lunch menu and combos start at $9 for 2 items and the chips cost extra. My lunch tab was almost $14 total and I drank water. Starting with the beef taco; it was generic gringo style with tasteless ground beef, lettuce, cheese and grocery store style shell. The famous salsa, in my opinion is too mild and has a sweet canned tomato aftertaste. The chili rellano was a lot of deep fried dough with a filling of a few chili slices and white cheese. I'm sure this was 700+ un-needed calories, easy. The beans were dry and I've had better from a can (I'm sure these are of the canned variety) The rice was well, rice. Finishing with the smothered chicken burrito, the burrito was ok but the green chili did nothing for me and had too much garlic. My advice; pass on this one.

Travel much for business and I love finding little local mexican "dives". This place was perfect in that regard. Simple, no flash, brown table top mexican restaurant. No bar, working approach to service, & good prices (triple combo plates for $8.95). Minus 1 star for the food. It was just ok - main issue is it had that mexican food issue where it all tastes the same (heavy, cheesy, red sauce). My test plate at a new mexican places is always rellanos and carnitas. Rellano was good, but it is mostly about the deep fry (think Rellano Chimichunga), not the flavor of the pepper. Carnitas was not on the menu. Salsa was decent, though not spicy enough - ask for the spicy salsa. Chips were warm, but they cost $1. Minus 1 star for the margaritas. Powder mix I think. Just bad - which maka me sad. If I lived in area I would likely go on a semi-regular basis - esp with my kids as it is a good family location. As for just visiting for business, I doubt I will go back, but don't regret trying it. __________________________________________________Â_ Adding the following "crusade" to all of my reviews: Way too many undeserved 5 star ratings on yelp. Ratings should be a bell curve, with at least 50-60% of your ratings a 3. 5 should be another world special, not everyday good.

I like their combination breakfast burrito. The rest of their food is pretty average but reasonably priced. One plus is that it is family owned and the people are very nice. If you are in Tamarac Square and want Mexican I think Ajuaa is a better choice

We eat at Las Caras about twice a month, have always found it very friendly and accommodating -- they have no problem giving separate checks when we go with friends. It is family owned and feels like it. The only negative has been that sometimes there is a wait for a table because it is not a large place. But the wait is never more than ten minutes, and it appears that soon it will be taking extra space that has come available at the next door unit. It is a great place to meet friends for a low-key, unrushed dinner. The food is good, strictly Mexican and never disappointing.

I wasn't blown away. The staff is super friendly and I loved the enchiladas. Other than that, it was just eh. Chicken tacos had a great grilled flavor, but hope you don't mind dark meat. The sweet onion salsa tasted a bit more like spaghetti sauce than salsa. Taco shells a tad but stale. I'll probably make the trek to las delicias on Colorado blvd instead next time.

I visit this place all the time. It's like a hidden gem in the Tamarac shopping center. FOOD: This food is authentic Mexican food...and it is amazing. I had my very first chili relleno at this place and no place else compares. They are cooked to perfection here and they use the BEST cheese inside. Very tasty. The green chili has just the right amount of kick to it to make your smothered burrito taste yummy. I always get the steak burrito because I like the seasoning that is used when they marinate the beef. Breakfast burritos are great too...you have the option to get a handheld or smothered, and they will customize if for you (I hate eggs, so I always ask for one without and they have no problem with that) SERVICE: The service is always fast and always friendly. VENUE: This place is small, and it fills up quickly...so if you are going for dine in, make sure you go early to be the rush. Because it does become so busy they have to turn people away. OVERALL: I am a huge fan, I love this place. In my opinion best Mexican food in Denver that I have found. You've got my business here!

I've been going to Las Caras since I was eleven. I've traveled to the west coast, east coast and all over, yet I still believe, without a doubt that Las Caras has the best green chile so far! I always get a smothered burrito with extra green chile and am never disappointed with the quality or quantity you get. It's family owned and everyone there is very hospitable. It gets pretty insane there sometimes but it's so worth it to stay in or take out. You also have to try their friend banana. The cinnamon and the light crispy layer will definitely give you a Homer's drool moment.

I love the faces, the names a little creepy when you translate it though. This is really one of the best little spots for Mexican in Denver. The guac is excellent. They have numbered plates! The salsa is good for Denver Mexican food however sometimes it taste to much like cocktail sauce. If they start making their own tortillas and chips they will be the best!

Gotta have the chili rellanos. Ask for the hot sauce with your chip! It won't disappoint. This family owned place is off the charts good! Located in the ghost town otherwise known as Tamarac Square. Put Las Caras on your Bucket List.

I second the recommendation on the chile rellenos! So crispy and delicious...once it hits your mouth...it's so good! Combination platters for the win. My 90 year old Grandma-in-law ate a bowl of the green chile straight up when we went there. Even I was impressed! Great family run business with great service and great food.

Stopped here today on my quest to find the best breakfast burrito. A bit on the pricey side for me at 4 bucks, it was tasty, but I expected more. On the positive side, it was well wrapped, which I appreciate while driving (I think Santiagos wants to make a mess in my car). Restaurant seemed nice, staff was very friendly.

I've been eating at Las Caras forever, mainly because it used to be so close to my office. Now, it's not as close but I'll still go out of my way to meet friends there for yummy, cheese Mexican food. I do like their red onion salsa; it's not spicy typically but the flavor is very fresh. They offer other salsas, including a medium green one that is quite tasty. Their green chili is pretty mild, but it still tastes very good and I usually get it smothered over my chili relleno (the crispy kind) and steak burrito. They have wonderful extra crispy fries (beer battered type), and when you get them smothered in cheese and green chili it is a big piece of heaven! The only thing I really don't like on the menu is their refried beans, but hey no one is perfect. Service is friendly and prompt, but watch out the place is packed over lunch hour.

A hole in the wall place from the outside, friendly staff that greets you, quick service, very good food reasonably priced. The inside is well laid out, clean and quiet. Kid friendly. I would recommend it and will be going back.

(4)
M H.
The food is a little pricy and it's very average. I got the stuffed grill steak burrito. Just a plain ol' burrito if you're around the area. Definitely nothing spectacular, but that's just my opinion because this place is always packed.

Yum!
The price was reasonable, but they charge $1 for chips and salsa.

this place is pretty fantastic. the service is phenomenal. the servers are so friendly and welcoming. the food is so delicious it makes you wish you had an extra stomach. the decor is weird and it's small and those are my two reasons for knocking it off a star. be careful if you order a side of sour cream with your YUMMY smothered burrito - as it's like 1/2 cup of sour cream (more than enough to share).

(5)

(2)
Smidgie W.

Thanks!

(4)

Jessika K.

(5)

(2)
Sherri K.

Thanks!

Some of the best chili rellenos I've ever tasted- never would have guessed!

I like their combination breakfast burrito. The rest of their food is pretty average but reasonably priced. One plus is that it is family owned and the people are very nice. If you are in Tamarac Square and want Mexican I think Ajuaa is a better choice

This place is fantastic. We live close by and is far an away our favorite Mexican place in Denver. The green chilli is unreal and the crispy chilli rellenos are awesome (and actually crispy). All the food is good and I wold highly recommend this place! I've seriously tried Mexican food across the West and I've never found a place I like better.

i'll admit i didn't know this place existed until i was taken there by my girlfriend and her sister. they've been going there since they were mini sized apparently and it's their favorite place for mexican. i'm not a huuuge mexican person, but i'll admit i love a good fajita and chips and salsa. i've been dragged there a handful of times with my girlfriend, have yet to go there on my own, which is a shame because it's pretty darn good. the first time we went i just had some of the chips and salsa. pretty good, nothing spectacular but decent. the second time around, i got green chile cheese fries. yummm. the fries were crispy, the green chile was yummy, and the cheese was melted just right. i had a bite of my girlfriend's rice, mmm. a lot like chipotle's. third time, we split a chicken fajita. very good and flavorful, no complaints. now the other couple times i didn't get anything, but if i was the type of person who craved mexican, i'd pick this place. the atmosphere is friendly, it's never been too busy in my experience. thumbs up.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

(2)Sherri K.

(2)Smidgie W.
(4)Anne C.

(1)Jeff D.
(3)Rissa D.
(4)Joe J.
(4)Morgan A.
So good! Highly recommend! Family owned and operated. The food is delicious and not too expensive. Great margaritas too!
(5)Charles C.
(3)Victor M.
Thanks!
(5)Wendy K.
(4)Darin Y.
Huge portions and very tasty!! Excellent Salsa and Margaritas!
(4)Jessika K.
(4)Annie V.
I live very close by and was craving some Mexican. Don't let the strip mall vibe fool you! I ordered to go combination cheese enchilada, taco, and chili releno. Plus a cup of their green chili. The salsa was amazing and the food was great! They had my order ready in 15 minutes. Yum!
(5)Becky H.
My fiancé and I wanted to find a nice little Mexican place close to where we live and this place was definitely what we were looking for! The food is delicious but the wait staff is incredible!
(5)Meredith C.
this place is pretty fantastic. the service is phenomenal. the servers are so friendly and welcoming. the food is so delicious it makes you wish you had an extra stomach. the decor is weird and it's small and those are my two reasons for knocking it off a star. be careful if you order a side of sour cream with your YUMMY smothered burrito - as it's like 1/2 cup of sour cream (more than enough to share). LOVED my burrito, rice & beans and was entirely too full to touch the enchildada. hope you come here & enjoy!
(4)Spencer V.
(5)Michael S.
(3)Aylene M.
Visited for the first time tonight with my two kiddos. They were very friendly and my kids loved the food. Small but quaint and the food is good. Chips and salsa are worth the small charge.
(4)Randy B.
Excellent Mexican food. Chili Rellenos to die for. Excellent burritos. Very very good Mexican food! Enjoy.
(5)Tj W.
I just had the green chili breakfast burrito for the first time today when a co-worker recommended this place. WOW. I will visit in person to try some of the lunch menu in the near future.
(5)Alissa A.
(2)Ken N.
I have have been eating at this places for years and years . The food is always fresh and tastes amazing. The hot sauces are home made, some of the best I have ever had. The owners are cooking and service is always good. Try the guacamole chicken tostadas. Truly a family restraunt.
(5)Vanessa R.
This place is pretty good, its across the street from my place, so when I'm not looking to pay too much or go too far i come here on occasion. The portions are very generous and the staff is friendly and family ran. Tends to get busy so obviously people line this place, id recommend checking it out if you're in the area.
(5)Anita S.
Service is impeccable here. It is a small first come first serve place but it is worth the wait. I believe the owners are part of the kitchen staff and they have warm smiles that welcome everyone. Margaritas rock and their chili that smothers many of their plates is yummy and very savory.
(4)Kat S.
Small hidden little place with good food. Enchiladas are delicious. Most dishes seem to be a bit too salty. Portions are good and the price isn't bad. It can get pretty busy at times and because of that the service definitely suffers. But it is worth your time to check this place out.
(3)Max C.
(3)M H.
The food is a little pricy and it's very average. I got the stuffed grill steak burrito. Just a plain ol' burrito if you're around the area. Definitely nothing spectacular, but that's just my opinion because this place is always packed.
(2)Jen L.
(2)Jessica I.
(4)Terry M.
(5)Nicholas B.
One of my favorite Mexican spots in Denver. The waitstaff is super friendly and the food is legit. I've tried just about everything on the menu and the Chicken anything wins.
(5)Jason S.
(4)Chirag C.

This place rocks. It's cheap, fast, and VERY good. They even have stuff for picky little kids! My boyfriend and I are regulars here and the cute little short girl is just so sweet and adorable. AWESOME margaritas!

Great Mexican food at a great price!! Menu offers wide variety of selectaions. Staff is helpful and very friendly, too. Stop by Las Caras every time I'm in town on business!

Wonderful, small, family owned and unique. LOVED the egg-roll like rellenos! Combo 1 recommended - said to be most popular and I see why.
(5)Mike J.

(4)Rachel R.

(4)Robert M.

(3)B W.
Some of the best chili rellenos I've ever tasted- never would have guessed!
(5)Bill C.
I like their combination breakfast burrito. The rest of their food is pretty average but reasonably priced. One plus is that it is family owned and the people are very nice. If you are in Tamarac Square and want Mexican I think Ajuaa is a better choice
(2)Craig E.
(4)Erin J.
(2)Stephanie C.
(5)Moni L.
(5)Dusty S.
(5)Brad F.
Gotta have the chili rellanos. Ask for the hot sauce with your chip! It won't disappoint. This family owned place is off the charts good! Located in the ghost town otherwise known as Tamarac Square. Put Las Caras on your Bucket List.
(4)Mike M.
(5)Bellamy C.
(3)Sara G.
(3)Cliff M.
A hole in the wall place from the outside, friendly staff that greets you, quick service, very good food reasonably priced. The inside is well laid out, clean and quiet. Kid friendly. I would recommend it and will be going back.
(4)Adam D.
(5)Megan L.
i'll admit i didn't know this place existed until i was taken there by my girlfriend and her sister. they've been going there since they were mini sized apparently and it's their favorite place for mexican. i'm not a huuuge mexican person, but i'll admit i love a good fajita and chips and salsa. i've been dragged there a handful of times with my girlfriend, have yet to go there on my own, which is a shame because it's pretty darn good. the first time we went i just had some of the chips and salsa. pretty good, nothing spectacular but decent. the second time around, i got green chile cheese fries. yummm. the fries were crispy, the green chile was yummy, and the cheese was melted just right. i had a bite of my girlfriend's rice, mmm. a lot like chipotle's. third time, we split a chicken fajita. very good and flavorful, no complaints. now the other couple times i didn't get anything, but if i was the type of person who craved mexican, i'd pick this place. the atmosphere is friendly, it's never been too busy in my experience. thumbs up.
(4)E K.
I love Mexican food! I goto every one I find. This place was a shocker to me. The food bottom line is great. The atmosphere is.... Who cares the food is really good. That's all I am looking for.
(4)tanya B.
(5)Alissa A.
(4)M H.
The food is a little pricy and it's very average. I got the stuffed grill steak burrito. Just a plain ol' burrito if you're around the area. Definitely nothing spectacular, but that's just my opinion because this place is always packed.
(2)Kat S.
Small hidden little place with good food. Enchiladas are delicious. Most dishes seem to be a bit too salty. Portions are good and the price isn't bad. It can get pretty busy at times and because of that the service definitely suffers. But it is worth your time to check this place out.
(3)Max C.
(3)Rissa D.
(4)Joe J.
(4)Morgan A.
So good! Highly recommend! Family owned and operated. The food is delicious and not too expensive. Great margaritas too!
(5)Nicholas B.
One of my favorite Mexican spots in Denver. The waitstaff is super friendly and the food is legit. I've tried just about everything on the menu and the Chicken anything wins.
(5)Darin Y.
Huge portions and very tasty!! Excellent Salsa and Margaritas!
(5)Jessika K.
(5)Michael S.
(3)Aylene M.
Visited for the first time tonight with my two kiddos. They were very friendly and my kids loved the food. Small but quaint and the food is good. Chips and salsa are worth the small charge.
(4)Meredith C.
this place is pretty fantastic. the service is phenomenal. the servers are so friendly and welcoming. the food is so delicious it makes you wish you had an extra stomach. the decor is weird and it's small and those are my two reasons for knocking it off a star. be careful if you order a side of sour cream with your YUMMY smothered burrito - as it's like 1/2 cup of sour cream (more than enough to share). LOVED my burrito, rice & beans and was entirely too full to touch the enchildada. hope you come here & enjoy!
(4)Spencer V.
(5)Jen L.
(2)Jessica I.
(4)Terry M.
(5)Anna R.
(1)Jeff D.
(3)Rebecca M.
I was excited to try based on the reviews...but disappointed. Not authentic Mexican food. Everyone working was very nice.
(2)Kris K.

(4)Chris R.
Fantastic food, great service, awesome family owned restaurant atmosphere. I've been going here for the past 2-3 years and the food is always good.
(5)Lizbeth N.

(4)Sean Z.
(2)Smidgie W.
(4)Anne C.

(4)Sherri K.
(2)Charles C.
(3)Victor M.
Thanks!
(5)Mike J.
(5)Jillian B.
This place rocks. It's cheap, fast, and VERY good. They even have stuff for picky little kids! My boyfriend and I are regulars here and the cute little short girl is just so sweet and adorable. AWESOME margaritas!
(4)Linda H.
Great Mexican food at a great price!! Menu offers wide variety of selectaions. Staff is helpful and very friendly, too. Stop by Las Caras every time I'm in town on business!
(5)Patrick L.
Wonderful, small, family owned and unique. LOVED the egg-roll like rellenos! Combo 1 recommended - said to be most popular and I see why.
(5)Craig E.
(4)Matt M.
(2)Stephanie C.
(5)Moni L.
(5)Robert M.
(2)Dan S.
(4)Ryan Q.
Pretty average overall. I didn't like their salsa. Got a combo w a burrito and Chile relleno. Burrito was decent. Relleno was very tasty. If I go back I'll stick w rellenos as they're really good.
(3)Jeff E.
(5)Chirag C.
(4)Brad F.
Gotta have the chili rellanos. Ask for the hot sauce with your chip! It won't disappoint. This family owned place is off the charts good! Located in the ghost town otherwise known as Tamarac Square. Put Las Caras on your Bucket List.
(4)Mike M.
(5)Dusty S.
(5)Bellamy C.
(3)Erin J.
(2)Sara G.
(3)Cliff M.
A hole in the wall place from the outside, friendly staff that greets you, quick service, very good food reasonably priced. The inside is well laid out, clean and quiet. Kid friendly. I would recommend it and will be going back.
(4)Keith L.

(4)Rachel R.
We absolutely live this restaurant! We've been going for about 6 months pretty consistently and the staff always greets us as family and know our order by memory. It is a pretty small place and there is usually a wait on Friday and Saturday nights but it is delicious and worth the short wait.
(4)Alissa A.
(3)Max C.
(3)M H.
The food is a little pricy and it's very average. I got the stuffed grill steak burrito. Just a plain ol' burrito if you're around the area. Definitely nothing spectacular, but that's just my opinion because this place is always packed.
(2)Jessika K.
(5)Michael S.
(5)Jen L.
(2)Jessica I.
(4)Terry M.
(5)Anna R.
(1)Jeff D.
(3)Rissa D.
(4)Joe J.
(4)Rebecca M.
I was excited to try based on the reviews...but disappointed. Not authentic Mexican food. Everyone working was very nice.
(2)Kris K.

Thanks!

(2)Smidgie W.

(4)Ryan Q.
Pretty average overall. I didn't like their salsa. Got a combo w a burrito and Chile relleno. Burrito was decent. Relleno was very tasty. If I go back I'll stick w rellenos as they're really good.

(5)Dusty S.
(5)Brad F.
Gotta have the chili rellanos. Ask for the hot sauce with your chip! It won't disappoint. This family owned place is off the charts good! Located in the ghost town otherwise known as Tamarac Square. Put Las Caras on your Bucket List.
(4)Mike M.

(3)Erin J.

(3)Cliff M.
A hole in the wall place from the outside, friendly staff that greets you, quick service, very good food reasonably priced. The inside is well laid out, clean and quiet. Kid friendly. I would recommend it and will be going back.
