Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

If you go out for Mexican, chips and salsa should be as free as the water. Thank you La Pasadita. So many places in Denver do not understand this. Stuffed sopapillas, yes!
(4)Ursula M.
Awesome atmosphere in this little and cozy place! loved the traditional music playing in the background, great service, decoration and killer food. Best chips and salsa and quesadillas I've ever had. The salsa was very fresh and their food is not as spicy as tradicional mexican food - which for me is always a plus 'cause I don't like much heat. I also had a plate of shredded beef flautas, and they were great. Killer beans and rice as a side. Can't wait to go back!

Crispy relleno heaven I say! We just moved into the neighborhood and saw the exceptional ratings and new we had to check it out. I liked that it was humble and unassuming in a cool but dumpy throwback to the early 1900's. The service was quick and efficient and the food was delish!! I love that they have a patio area for lazy afternoons and the prices are super affordable. I recommend this place to all!!

I have been wanting to try this place for years and finally had some time today . Arrived around 1:20 and did not have to bad of a time getting street parking . The place is old and cozy which I like. I was shown a table as soon as I walked in. I ordered my normal taco and chili rellenos which were so good and for under $8 YUMMY!!! The free chips and salsa was so good with a very nice spice and so fresh! The kind that burns your mouth when you stop eating it .The taco was made with a in house fried shell which of course are the best! The relleno was very good and crispy! The beans were super good also! I cleared my plate but no room for anything else . Maybe next time !!! Thanks for a great experience ! I would recommend this place to anyone. So glad I finally stop here!
(5)Stephanie M.
If you love hole-in-the-wall Mexican food La Pasadita has every base covered with delicious margaritas, awesome chips and salsa and the best sopapilla you'll ever have. The food is outstanding and consistent.
(5)Holly C.
Best Authentic Mexican food ever. Had lunch with my son for twenty dollars. When we finished our lunch we were full and pleased. Great service and atmosphere but most importantly terrific food!
(5)Jennifer R.
Walking in I instantly loved the feel of this place as it reminded me of quaint Tex-Mex places in Texas. Chips and salsa were great which is always a good start. Per several Yelppers... Yelpites... Yelpers... recommendations, my husband got the crunchy chili rellenos and he said it was the best he can remember ever having! So that's an awesome compliment because we consider ourselves to be Tex-Mex connoisseurs. I had the chili verde plate (or something like that) which came with beans, rice, a bowl of green chili and tortillas. I really enjoyed it, however it was not super great green chili. Unfortunately the pork was a little on the tough side. (Next time I will try the cheese enchiladas, because I so love me a cheesy enchilada.) We topped it off with sopapillas and honey... lovely! Overall it was a wonderful and delicious dining experience, and as far as we are concerned we have found a great Mexican food go-to! (More parenthesis because screw proper writing etiquette! I love parenthesis!)))))

For years, we have jokingly called this TINY neighborhood gem Los Triangulitos, because the building is a weird triangular shape! In our humble opinion, they make the best Fajitas we have ever tasted. Everything they serve is delicious and authentic. Their only downfall is that their food is so good, so reasonably priced, that they can get very crowded. Sadly, it has been "discovered." Week days are a better bet than weekends to find a table and lunches better than dinners. We highly recommend the place.
(5)Frances G.
The food and service was fast and friendly and the salsa was spicy. Just how I like it! Expecting a little more heat and flavor to my enchiladas - I was a little underwhelmed. Not to say they're weren't cooked properly, I just like a little more heat and zing tome ocean cuisine. Per usual - the enchiladas were drenched in red sauce and paired with the requisite rice and beans. My favorite part was the guacamole with fresh diced jalapeños in the mix. You could not only taste the heat but tell they were fresh and newly added. What's the fun in eating Mexican if you're nose isn't gonna run a little :)?
(3)Alissa R.
Fast, Cheap, and in control! I have been an irregular customer here for years, and this place never disappoints. The menu is short and sweet, making it very easy to choose what you will devour. The prices are great, I can get a loaded chicken tostada with a tasty side of rice and beans for $5.95. And the service? Prompt and polite, I swear our meal was placed on the table 6 minutes after ordering. The salsa is good with a sneaky little kick, and they'll bring you more if you run out-just ask nicely. The place is so very clean and well kept, and I appreciate the open kitchen just in case I want to take a peak at how my taco's being handled. And that damn cute building, if they ever decided to move I may just have to purchase it to live in. See you soon La Pasadita, I hope to become more of a regular!
(4)Ryan P.
This restaurant has consistently set itself far apart from the sloppy, heavy, extra extra cheesy, tired bland heavy Mexican food that is very common. The food here screams authentic as the cooks wear white chef hats and aprons while they cook their yummy timeless recipes for their patrons in full view. They give just enough food to feel satisfied but leave a person saying to him or herself I am definitely coming back! Excellent prices, Great margs also! I would give them five stars but they are not gmo-free :(
(4)Rose A.
Quaint little spot, but the menu is really small without a lot of diversity. I love the little triangle block location off Park ave. Great people watching on a sunny day on the patio, but please add more items!
(3)Phoebe N.
I would ensconce myself in a tub of La Pasadita green chile were it socially acceptable. Nuff said.
(5)Steve S.
Just as I finish my review of Patzcuaro's, I hear about this little triangle of Mexican food goodness and schedule a visit. Picture yourself eating delicious Mexican food and being transported to the late 70's. Old TV in the corner, faded colors on all of the decor and prices that resemble the price of gas (that's a good thing). It is the perfect representation of how good food does not have to be delivered in a trendy wrapper. And the prices! I didn't know food still came that cheap! Now you've got to think to yourself all this cheap food has got to come at a price, like spending a night praying to the porcelain throne. But there is no price, it's just honest and cheap food with a pitcher of margaritas for under $15! My only warning is the place is small, so get a seat while you can. Then, prepare your cow-like intestinal system for a delicious meal of glorious, GLORIOUS Mexican food that sticks it's nose up to those Highland's snobs.
(5)Deb N.
This converted house has its own block! Small and Cozy. Park at the Safeway lot across the street. Get away for good Mexico fare. Margs and beers to go well with the homemade burritos, tacos, fajitas. Historical.
(4)Kimberly F.
So close to getting more stars! This place did have very good, authentic Mexican food. The chips were perfect (salty, thin, crispy, not greasy) and the salsa was some of the spiciest I've had a restaurant (+1)! That was probably the highlight. I was a little disappointed that my margarita was a little watered down. It was OK, but not the best I've had. The tamale plate was good, but a little light on the meat and spice. I tried my mom's chicken and beef fajitas and they were really good. Overall it was good, quick, and cheap, but not the best I've had.
(3)Jubal V.
Great prices! Really good food! Including chips & salsa...but the margaritas...meh...watered down...so I was obligated to order another one - strawberry - yuck. Come for the food & beer as well as excellent service!
(4)Tanya P.
We went here on a Thursday night for my boyfriends birthday after a recommendation from friends! When we walked in we were surprised at how small it was, only 10 tables inside, but the smallness of the place makes it great! Our service was not as attentive as I would have liked as there were only 3-4 other tables but otherwise it was fantastic. We had margaritas (which were strong), nachos as an appetizer, chimichangas, tacos, and tamales. All of the food was excellent and authentic! You could taste that it was homemade. The free chips and salsa they bring you in the beginning is delicious. I will definitely go back!
(5)Keith H.
Solid Mexican food. Guacamole was fresh, with great fried tortillas. My fiancé had the chicken burrito, which was good. The chile relleno and tamale I had were hot and very tasty. Quick and easy, good food.
(5)Kyle B.
I absolutely adore this little Mexican restaurant occupying the triangle between Park, 20th, and Clarkson. Their salsa is spicy and simple, their plates reasonably sized, and their service quick. Their enchilada plate is one of my personal favorites, as their enchilada sauce is flavorful without being overpowering. Plus, as I just found out from reading another review, it looks like they serve authentic flan.
(4)Kari C.
Great Mexican Food!!! This place was the most authentic & delicious Mexican food my fiancé and I have had in Colorado! My fiancé ordered a shredded beef chimichanga and I got the mixed (chicken & beef) fajitas...they were both delicious! The flavors were authentic...even down to the homemade salsa and guacamole. We also ordered the beef flautas (they only came with two) but they were yummy, and the sides were traditional and full of flavor. This will certainly be one of our new Mexican food spots in downtown! Hope you enjoy!
(5)Max C.
I was actually quite disappointed with our food here. We had the fajitas combination, the beef taco a la carte, the flan and of course, chips and salsa. The chips, fajitas and salsa, all were EXTREMELY salty! Aside from that the chips and salsa were ok. The fajitas were pretty terrible... hardly ANY kind of meat, chicken or beef, mostly just undercooked onions and some other vegetables (And an estranged piece of pork for some reason :/). The flan was just crap... Same exact "flan" you make from a store bought jello mix.
(3)Matt S.
Try the Chilli rellenos! Smothered in pork green chilli - all fried! Absolutely delicious. All washed down with a couple of Coronas. Great service too. This place has reset my bar for Mexican food.
(4)Josh W.
I have a hard time articulating how amazing this place is. I like it's quaint minimalistic atmosphere and the staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating but in no way overbearing. It is obvious that the proprietor takes great care in serving a consistently premium product. There is something to be said about the layers and complexity of the flavors in all of the dishes. On top of a great dining experience the prices are quite modest for the quality that you are getting!
(5)Lauren B.
This is authentic "Durango" style Mexican food. I'm from Tucson, one hour north of Sonora, Mexico, that abuts Durango, Mexico. So for me, this was like going home! Great food, good salsa and authentic tamales. Each state has their own flavor. If you're looking for Sonoran food in Denver, this place is close! Chips and salsa were outstanding.
(4)Rachel S.
YUM! A friend brought me here a while back and I was so excited to find it again... Love the authentic, inexpensive food and "hole in the wall" atmosphere. Can't ask for much more ;)
(5)Julie J.
This is the best Mexican I've had, period--Denver or any other town! The green chile is unreal! We have tried every item on the menu and none have disappointed--actually all have impressed. We go here at least once a week and if it weren't so fattening I'd eat here every day!! Our poor daughter has to listen to us rave about it continually through dinner every week. It is that good. Just ridiculous!!!
(5)Adam J.
We live in Congress Park, and we were living without a really good, solid Mexican restaurant nearby. We must have walked and driven by La Pasadita 20 times before either of us really bothered to wonder what it was. Turns out, it's a really good, solid Mexican restaurant on a weird triangular lot on one of the Nexuses of the Universe along Park. The restaurant itself is very small inside, but has a fairly substantial patio. Probably makes it better to eat here in the summer than the winter. Anyway, they have a pretty small menu that's full of the usuals. Nothing crazy on here, just your standard tacos, burritos, enchiladas, fajitas, etc. The prices are extremely reasonable - we had two entrees, a beer, and dessert for less than $30. Even their drinks are reasonably priced. I think a margarita was $4 or less. And the food is really good! It's what I might call Mexican comfort food. It's not trying to do anything outside the box, and eating it reminds you of all the good, solid Mexican food you've had in the past. There's some spice, which I like, and it just makes you feel warm and fuzzy. Service was kind of mediocre, but friendly. At 6pm on a Friday night we were able to walk right in and get a table, which kind of surprised me. The place filled up a little after 7. But try walking into Benny's on a Friday at 6 and you'll have a 45 minute wait, and you'll be eating barely passable food. I would not drive out of my way to come to La Pasadita, but if you're in the area, this is the best spot we've found yet.
(4)Will D.
Fun, authentic Mexican food. Great chips and salsa, great green chile and crispy rellenos. Stick to beer or wine; I think the margaritas are poured from a premixed cocktail bottle. All and all, great little place.
(4)Jenna C.
This place is great! Authentic mexican food, just the way you like it. I had the enchilada entree and the sauce was perfect. It came with rice and beans on the side. The chips and salsa were also delicious, tasted home made and fresh. My boyfriend got a chile relleno and it was THE BEST! I would have given this 5 stars if the margaritas were a little less "sour mix" tasting. But I am quite picky about my margs. Besides that, they didn't go light on the tequila! It was a great, cozy place, perfect find for that mexican food you KNOW you've been craving! (oh, affordable too!!)
(4)Ian M.
I bring everyone here, and it is never short of excellent. The most reliably high quality Mexican food in the downtown area. Margaritas might be watered down compared to a bar, but I think they're great for a restaurant.
(5)Jacqueline A.
Great little neighborhood Mexican joint. The prices are super reasonable and they have a cute little patio where you can enjoy a leisurely bite. I had tamales which were solid Mexican and my friend ordered the burrito smothered in green chile. The burrito was large and the green chili was tasty but very mild so if you like it extra hot maybe tell the kitchen to spice it up for you. I wouldn't say it's the best Mexican food ever but it is decent, the location convenient, the prices are great and the place is cute. If you're in the area give this place a try!
(4)Jennel R.
The best Mexican food I've found in Denver. Quick easy cheap and delicious . $3.75 imported Mexican beers and awesome staff. Just try it.
(5)Emily S.
I don't know, this place is pretty decent, but I wasn't really feeling my entree. I had the Chile Rellenos, which had a lot of great flavors, served with beans and Spanish rice. Now, this was my first time trying this dish, and I am really not that fond of it, to be honest. I really enjoyed the overall experience while here. The service was great, very speedy, accurate, and the server gave us exactly what we needed. Very inexpensive, but great sized portions! The places wasn't that busy when we came in for our business lunch, so we didn't have to wait very long for our food or a table... which there are only like 11 of! Like any other Mexican food restaurant, well.... maybe not all, they serve chips and salsa before your meal which was very good. The salsa had a lot of onion and cilantro in it, which normally I don't care for, but tasted real nice today. The chips were grainy tasting.. perfect for chips in my opinion...OK that's a bad description for the taste, but it makes sense to me. Overall, I'd say... Give it a try! It's pretty decent, I know I'll be back!
(3)Peter A.
A short walk from my place, La Pasadita is a great spot to quench my frequent cravings for Mexican. A quality cheap and cheerful, no frills, family owned joint it takes the place of my favorite proper Mexican around the way from my apartment in the BK. Yum. This jaded New Yorker says "vamos a comer".
(4)Adam K.
La Pasadita is my go-to place for Mexican food. It's a pretty small and funky triangular building, with not a lot of tables but some seating outside as well. Always had good service and good food. Tried a few things but normally go for the smothered burrito, and a good size to boot.
(4)Scott T.
I have always fantasized about owning this place. It has a charming patio, good location, and just enough space inside to keep it open for business. It also has a small residence upstairs. I would live and die in a place like that! The food is decent, honest food. Reliability is something worth cherishing, and it is part of why I am fond of La Pasadita. The food is always good. Try the sopapillas! S
(4)Mary H.
So. Good. You can get chile rellenos crispy or soft and both are amazing. My fav Mexican in Denver metro!
(5)Sonja C.
this place was a huge let down! their queso dip was literally just grated cheese they seemed to have put in a microwave and then added some green chile. it had no bite to it, no flavor. I had their chicharron bean burrito smothered in green chile. being from NM I know green chile. the chicharrones were awful in texture, my plate was luke warm, the cheese was barely melted, and the green chile; the green chile was horrible. it was bland, too mild, there was all of this pepper in it. pepper! wtf?! it was as if they expected all the spice and flavor to come from the pepper. my friend ordered the flan, which was obvious it came from a can. I really wanted to like this place but it further proved to me that Denver still doesn't know what good mexican food is. I would not recommend and will not return....
(1)Dan M.
Some of the best mexican food you can find. I miss this place even more since moving away from CO. You can barely find any decent mexican food in DC, but often when I am town I head back to La Pasadita in because they can make a great chile relleno, and the huevos rancheros always brings a smile to my face. I miss this place something fierce right now. They don't accept credit card so make sure to have cash (you can hit the ATM at the nearby grocery store), the staff is friendly the food is great and cheap, what more could you want.
(4)Taylor E.
Best Mexican food in Denver. It's tiny, and there's a small staff, so service isn't so good when it's busy. So avoid going there on Cinco de Mayo.
(5)Lara P.
I used to live within walking distance and spent an entire summer on the patio sharing pitchers of margaritas, crispy tortillas and guac, and chille rellenos. This place will never wow you with the food but you will always be happy with your order. The guac is perfect, the patio is shaded (but on Park Ave), and the fajitas come with everything you would want (including great flavor). This is a perfect place to spend an afternoon with friends. I've never sat inside, so I cant speak on that. Bring cash or a check. Ask for water.
(4)Sasha R.
given the ironically low standards of denverites for mexican food, which by the way is enabling some seriously poor-quality crap being slung elsewhere... i really do like this place. it's good, and cheap, with a non-frantic atmosphere.
(4)Thomas S.
Thanks to Nicholas N. getting an ROTD for his post on La Pasadita Inn yesterday, I found myself checking out this joint. First off, the food isn't going to make you do backflips and cartwheels. It is good. But not spectacular. I had chimichanga that was quite delish. It comes smothered with their wonderful green chilli and a side of guac. Yummy! My wife order the tamales, which I would rate as just okay. What really makes this place noteworthy is their location - close to downtown and my office - and their atmosphere - which is super cute and unique. I can't wait for the sun to come out so that I can sip on margaritas on their patio after work!
(3)Jason S.
To begin, Love the tamales!! Margaritas are o.k. Service could be done with a smile. The place could be cleaned; next time check out some of the decor and see the amount of dust:( Overall the food is good and the price is nice.
(3)Becca D.
I have lived in this neighborhood for four years now. I went to La Pasadita Inn when I first moved...it wasn't the worst I had ever had, but it certainly wasn't good. We tried again a few months later, and once again, very bland and forgettable. We recently returned, willing to give it another try, and yet again, the food wasn't good. Bland, bad green chilil, super small portions, etc. That visit will be our last.
(2)Sammy L.
Hands down some of the best Mexican food in Denver. Super cozy and the place is awesome for kids. Their Strawberry Margi's are like 4$ too!!!! Service is quick and the place is clean and friendly.
(4)Russ W.
Consistently the best and most flavorful Mexican food I've found in my hood, the Capitol Hill/East Downtown Denver neighborhoods. This is the perfect joint to drop in when you're in a hurry, rarely a wait for a table, 80% of the time you get seated immediately. Fast and GOOD food. La Pasadita isn't your generic canned SLOP serving "Mexican" joint which is about the only type of and most popular Mexican fare served in these neighborhoods. Thankfully, La Pasadita does not serve Old El Paso enchilada sauce poured over Sysco over starched pre-grated packaged cheese rolled into stale tortillas and topped with Sysco pre-shredded lettuce from a bag a la Benny's. :-) If you stop by in the mid-afternoon, and since the kitchen is wide open to the dining room, you can watch as abuela sweats over the steaming pots of homemade sauces and the fresh salsas they hand make on site. This is family affair here with what appears to be several generations of the same family working and running this little triangular gem of spicy neighborhood Mexican food. The salsa burns oh so good, and the green chili is superb, rich, spicy, and a flavorful soulful experience. Personal favorites, both the crispy and soft chili rellenos, and the stuffed sopapilla with ground beef. The salsa, can fire burn out your taste buds one day, and not so much so the next. It's full of HOT and onions, soupy rather than chunky, it's a real change from the salsas I'm accustomed to elsewhere. And once I got used to it, I cannot get enough. EXTREMELY reasonable prices, small dive-ish 10 table room with ancient Philodendrons snaking there way around the ceiling, nice outdoor patio on busy Park Ave. And tasty tarty boozy margs.
(4)Ryan G.
mucho mucho bueno. this is the place. i've lived in 2 mexican food havens - Austin (true tex-mex), and chicago (fancy ameri-mex). this is neither, but closer to tex-mex. the point is that it is finally the first place in denver i can call a RADICAL mexican joint, and i've been here over a year now. start with some very good margaritas. i had the tamales based on reviews, and it was dead on. melt in you mouth, perfectly balanced. second time in i had the fajitas which went down very nicely. typical but good. the queso was muy divertido (i'd add some chorizo next time). but this wouldn't be 5* without the atmosphere. very small but applicable to any need: date, buddies, solo. the servers were attentive and patient, even after our 3rd jug of margaritas. can't wait to hit the patio in the summer, which i hear is great for homeless watching. they need to make a better salsa. i forgot to ask if they have alternatives.
(5)Barbara P.
I turned to Yelp when I was ready to try a new Mexican restaurant. After reading the favorable reviews for La Pasadita, I was certain I had scored a winner. Ah, but Not so fast. Yes, the margaritas were cheap but they were also watered down. The chicken chimichanga was a combo of dark and white meat, which I thought odd to have dark meat in my chimi, and rice. And the chimi was seasoned with too much black pepper. What up with that! The guacamole served with the chimi had real no flavor, but added nice color to the plate! And I'm indifferent about the chips and salsa; nothing remarkable. My experience was obviously vastly different than our Yelp'ing friends. Simply put, La Pasadita was a huge disappointment because the expectations were so high.
(2)Carlos L.
This is one of my favorite all time Mexican Restaurants. Everything on the menu is done well and their green chili is awesome. Home cooked Mexican food for a great price
(5)Tristram N.
My favorite Mexican restaurant in Denver and ridiculously cheap too. I've been going for well over 8 years and they haven't raised prices once that I'm aware of. The queso dip is really good for an appetizer. For entrees, try the tamale plate or the stuffed sopapillas . If that's not enough for you try the fried ice cream- coated in corn flakes and honey- for dessert. A good place for a patio day... I just wish they were open Sundays!
(4)Haley M.
We've passed by La Pasadita Inn for years but never stopped in to try it. I can't believe what we've been missing!! If you like green chili, this is the place for you! I'd recommend the La Pasadita in dip -- it was delish! The chili rellenos and tamales are also tasty. And don't forget to have a marg - you won't be disappointed!!
(5)Jerod M.
Consistenly one of my favorite spots for good mexican. Nice little patio for warm days and a cozy inside for cooler days. Not a huge menu, but they cover all the basics and they prepare them very, very well. The Chimi's are fantastic, but I also very much enjoy the toco salad for a little ligher meal. Friendly people and great food...what else can you ask for from any restaurant?
(5)Travis R.
Right, so this place is on a triangle shaped lot between Park Ave and the "Not so Safeway" car park. Walk on over here (if your not female and alone in the dark) because if there are more than a few people in the place there wont be parking on the street. The portions are ample the prices are great, and they are not afraid to add a little spice to their delicious food. They don't take credit or debit cards so bring cash. Safeway across the car park has an atm if you forget.
(4)sandra p.
Yes, food is cheap. Yes, service is fine. But, the food is small. And NOT VERY GOOD. And only the first basket of chips and salsa is free. And the salsa is not good. The chips are too salty. My friend and I got enchiladas and tostadas, and the food is bland and not very tasty. I was hoping it would be good, but here's another failed attempt to find great Mexican food in Denver.
(2)Robb S.
The best & one of the least expensive Mecican restaurants in town !
(5)Green D.
The food was average and the patio is a nice seating option in this small establishment. However, it is the scowl on the waiter's face that will keep me away forever.
(1)Zeb C.
This is a great place with a great value.
(4)Megan W.
I am from a small town with a large Hispanic population. At friends houses there were generally home made tortillas and tamales instead of potato chips. I am SO picky about Mexican food. La Pasadita Inn has queso that is real cheese and chiles, and a relleno that makes my mouth water at the thought. The atmosphere is homey and the wait staff is very friendly. Plus, who can resist a marg on the patio in the CO summer? Nobody, that's who.
(5)Ian C.
Having just moved from Texas, my girlfriend and I were looking for somewhere to get some good fajitas, and La Pasadita delivered. The ritas are cheap too. We've been a few times now and the food is always on the salty side, but it's still seasoned pretty well. In TX, this place would probably get 3 stars, but since we're in Denver, it gets 4. And kudos to the waiter (the same guy who's always there) for memorizing your order without having to write anything down and actually getting it right.
(4)Alejandra Q.
I'd always been curious about this place. Up for some Mexican tonight, I hopped on Yelp and saw that it was rated pretty decently. As my partner and I approached the restaurant there were some people waiting outside while an employee hosed down the entire al fresco area - guess we won't be sitting outside. We went in and realized that there was nowhere to sit. The guy behind the register said we should come back in ten minutes and he would seat us straight away. When we returned there were two other groups there. He didn't even recognize us and went ahead and sat another couple. Not too good with faces perhaps? We were sat next and ordered. Chips and salsa were alright, nothing special. I ordered the Chimichanga with the shredded beef and my partner the Tamale plate. A wait was expected, there is only one guy cooking. Meals arrived. Mine looked OK, my partners was wrong; flautas instead of tamales. No apology offered. 5-10 minutes later the correct meal appeared, with me half way done. The Chimichanga was more rice than beef and the tamales were less than impressive. Service is hurried and less than friendly with staff running around looking left and right like they are trying to cross a busy four lane highway. Still on the hunt for good, inexpensive Mexican as this is not it. Will not be returning to La Pasadita.

As Emily says, this place defines "Hole-in-the-Wall." La Pasadita's small, triangular-shaped dining is frequently packed, so you may have to wait 5-10 minutes to get a seat, but it's worth your time. La Pasadita is just what a Mexican restaurant should be: Good authentic Mexican food, cheap prices, and cheery service. The staff is professional and friendly, and the quality of the dishes will satisfy any aficionado of southwestern cuisine. I recommend the Tamales and Chille Relleno. The margaritas are sweet, and in our case, not particularly potent, but they are tasty. So...if you have to have a booth to sprawl out in, move on. Otherwise, your'e in for a treat.

Great, quirky little spot down the street from my house. SUPER CHEAP! Portions are quite reasonable for the price and service is speedier than Gonzales. Good beer selection/prices. Only reason I didn't give it 4stars is because of the quality/authenticity of food and the fact that, while being cheep for main items, they recoup cost by charging for refills of the essentials (chips, salsa, fountain drinks). As for the quality/authenticity, I was born and raised in California so In all honesty I haven't found a Mex restaurant in this state that really meets my standards yet. BUT....Still good, quick and cheap! GRUB DOWN!!!

Painfully mediocre. Authenticity has nothing to so with it - the food just ain't that good. I ordered a bowl of green chile with decent flavor but it was extremely watery. The corn tortillas were warm but clearly not homemade. The crispy chile relleno had a small strip of pepper, about two inches long by half an inch wide. The rest resembled an egg roll stuffed with three Colby Jack string cheese sticks. Worse, what little pepper was in the relleno wasn't even a poblano. Based on the texture and saltiness, I'd guess it was a strip of canned Anaheim or Banana pepper. The chips and salsa are decent, but no better than middling. To the staff's credit, the service was really great. Otherwise, I'd be handing out my first one star review!

off the hook!! i get to denver every few weeks for work and this last time out there i had dinner with a friend. he lives right across the street from the place and we saw that they werent busy. i wasnt expecting much but i was definitely surprised. my buddy suggested i get the tamale/taco combo. great flavors and just the right amount of spice. because this isnt some hipster or fine dining joint, the food was basic and good. the service was decent and the prices were awesome! i may become a regular here!
(5)Ryan H.
Great tacos! Delicious rellenos! Best sopapillas! This has become my favorite Mexican restaurant in town. The quality of food that comes out of that little kitchen is amazing.

As a transplanted Canadian I have come to embrace the Colorado green chile craze. So much so that I have actively sought out every green chile offering in Denver (WTF i order green and it comes out red???). I've even bought the Hatch and made a pretty decent version myself. In my opinion La Pasadita's green chile is the best in Denver. Yes it is thin and there is no discernible meat but it has a certain je ne sais quoi that i have not found in any other restaurant green chile in town. but don't trust me-get on down and try. PS they're version of queso fundito is so hilariously bad you need to order it. It is so part of this restaurant's charm. Mi encanta/j'aime La Pasadita!
(4)Mandy O.
We got here early on a Monday just in time before the dinner rush so seating wasn't an issue. The place is small but quant. The service was phenomenal as was the food! I agree with others when they say the salsa is spicy but really delicious. Quality and quantity=fantastic!
(4)Josh S.
Easily the worst Mexican restaurant in town. Their margs are terrible. Food has to come out of a can and their green chilie was laughable. Never go here. We tried it cuz we always saw people there. It blows my mind that people are giving it good reviews. Crazy
(1)heather s.
I've wanted to try this little place for a very long time. We finally did this past weekend and it will be our first and last visit. I do love the space and would love to know the hisory of this building. I love that it has a quant patio area as well (though it's on a busy street). First off, may I say that their only tequila in Jose Cuervo. I really wanted to leave at that point as half my Mexican dinner experiences are about the margaritas. Even if it's with crappy sweet and sour (which they are) you can compensate with good tequila. Not here. I should have known when I saw people drinking frozen strawberry margaritas. Then the waitress came out. Believe me, I can get over the not speaking English part but the scoul on her face not so much. I'm not sure she has ever smiled in her life and she scared half the table. I asked three different people for water and never got any. I finally had to walk inside to ask again. Then we ordered more beers and the people that didn't order another got another and the people that wanted another beer didn't get theirs. So frustrating! The food was average at best. There are many different types of Mexican available in the Denver area for all different palates that are way better than this place. Go to Benny's and get good tequila, good food and excellent service and sit on their patio.
(2)Mtn M.
Servers usually aloof, but it's a cozy place with yummy dishes at a fabulous price. Great margs, enchiladas. Guacamole is not consistently great, but it's GREAT when it is! Great patio in the summertime although can be a bit noisy (good people watching can make up for that).
(4)Nick V.
Had the enchilada and a taco. Tagged on a chile relleno for good measure. Super tasty. Spicy like I like it. Even the beans and rice were good. Place looks sketchy but it's legit!
(5)Marc S.
The best Mexican food in Denver and backed up by natives of El Paso, TX. It's a small simple place that is clean but far from fancy.
(5)Roy H.
This is a nice little Mexican place...on its own island in the street between a few streets. You may not want to sit outside as enticing as it is..couple diesel trucks blew by and loud cars...Ill sit inside next time. Aside from that the food is really good and the service is nice. I had a huge burrito covered in green chile sauce. Yum yum! Also great prices for the portions!
(3)Kara A.
My fiance and I LOVE this place. Great, authentic Mexican food at really great prices. The only drawback is the atmosphere, which definitely needs some improvement. Our favorite menu item are the chicken enchiladas, but everything is good, from the guacamole to the tacos. We would definitely recommend this place to others.
(4)Chris H.
Great little Mexican restaurant with wonderful prices. The chips and salsa are very good...although I am a wimp so the salsa was a little hot for me, but great flavor. I had a $4.95 burrito and I have to say it was the best burrito I have ever had for $4.95. It came with a very flavorful green chili. The restaurant is small...but a nice atmosphere.
(4)Amanda M.
Okay, this is my go-to Mexican place. Going here has turned into a little game for me. I am going to suck up to the owner?/waiter and be sweet as pie until he cracks a smile. I have yet to see a REAL smile from anyone who works there. Maybe a smirk, but never a smile. They are not rude by any means, just not Bennigan's or Olive Garden friendly. Their food is excellent and I'm assuming they know it. I have gotten the chicken chimichanga probably 7 times now, and I probably won't ever order anything else off the menu, unless I get two meals at the same time (which is a possibility). One thing I really like about the chimichanga is I always find ONE lima bean in there. Is it a good luck bean? I have literally dug through the chimichangas to find where they are hiding lima beans and come up with nothing-- then randomly I'll see one sitting on my plate. I'm not a fan of lima beans in particular, but I eat the ones that I find in La Pasadita's chimichangas because I think they hold some sort of power. But that's our little secret....
(5)Erin E.
Best Mexican place in the 'hood. And did I mention CHEAP? This is probably the best example of authentic food at legit prices. I don't understand why other places charge double for the exact same food. Salsa has the perfect amount of kick. Flautas are excellent, as are the tacos, fajitas...ah everything is so so good. Rice is made with some peppers and onion, kicking it up a notch. Margs are good and inexpensive. Love the patio. Service is always polite. Small inside, so it seems to be best for date night/ few friends. I did see a group of 8-9 peeps on the patio the other night though- which makes sense, cause La Pasadita is accommodating. They'll make it work :)
(5)Tiffany N.
I still la-la-love La Pasadita Inn. And the fajitas here are still my favorite thing to eat. But, everything I've tried over the years has been fantastic. It's a pretty small place - there are less than 10 tables in here if I had to guess so I don't recommend coming with a group. But, for a 2 to 4-some it's great. Also, they've started taking credit cards somewhere along the way so you don't have to worry about forgetting your cash at home. Isn't that rad?
(5)M M.
I used to go to thei spalce allot, but with all the new restaurants in Denver now- we try new places more frequently. Teh green chili used to be one of our favorites, but this last time it wasn't nearly as good ans it had been in the past. Although, the steak ranchero was still very delicious. The service is failry quick and it's a great place for lunch. The parking is a nightmare since it's located between 3 streets with only 3 parking spots around it. Tip: park at Safeway across the street.
(4)Casey D.
Thanks Melissa F. I read a review for this place written by Melissa F. that was spot on. She gave this place 4 stars. The 1st star was for the promptness and friendliness of the staff. The 2nd star was for the nice, clean, and comfortable atmosphere. She gave a 3rd star for their affordable prices; and, a 4th star for their wonderful, authentic tasting food. The only reason Melissa didn't give them a 5th star was because they didn't have a very diverse menu. This is where I part ways with her. My reason for not giving a 5th star is that I felt that the portions were a bit small. La Pasadita Inn is a great pick for Mexican food!
(4)Kati B.
Health food it ain't, but if you're in the mood for cheesy, flavorful mexican food that will barely put a dent in your wallet, then La Pasadita is totally your jam. We came here on a warm, spring Friday night - they didn't have the patio open yet, and it's pretty small inside, so we were lucky to get a small table next to the window. We were instantly served with chips and salsa - the chips are nothing spesh, but the salsa is decent. Personally, I like atomically hot salsa, and this salsa is a solid medium on the temperature scale, so it should suit most people. We quickly ordered some margs - at like $4, how can you not order a marg or three? They are also decent, nothing spectacular, but a nice little tequila kick! For eats, I ordered a cheese enchilada + chile relleno combo. They made it vegetarian for me by subbing red enchilada sauce for the green chile that has pork in it. My bf ordered a ground beef chimichanga. Our food came out pretty quickly and we tucked right in! My relleno was crispy and cheesy, the rice and beans were tasty and flavorful and I really enjoyed the red sauce. I couldn't finisn the enchilada, so I handed it over to the bf, but it was also cheesy and yummy! Like I said, this is not a salad bar at Whole Foods, so don't expect to see a lot of fresh veggies here! But we enjoyed our meal, and it came to a whopping $30, which is damn good for 4 margs and 2 entrees. I think La Pasadita is ten times better than Las Delicias or 3 Margaritas, and for half the cost! Definitely check it out!
(4)Emily J.
La Pasadita is the epitome of your favorite "hole in the wall" Mexican restaurant. My friend lives in this area, within walking distance, and I am now extremely jealous of her. The chips and salsa brought to your table upon arrival are great. The chips are warm, perfectly salty, and the salsa is that wonderful balance of sweet and spicy. Make sure and get a margarita, possibly a pitcher if you are feeling adventurous. Be aware they are on the sweeter side but still pack a punch. Being a huge fan of chile rellenos, I order them wherever I go, they are my litmus test for Mexican food. La Pasadita's are top notch! When you say crispy, they are actually crispy, unlike a half-hearted crispiness found at other Mexican joints. La Pasadita is a very small place, about 8 tables total so there may be a wait. It's totally worth it though!
(5)Traci H.
As a Phoenix AZ native, I have been searching for an authentic mexican establishment here in Denver to call mine own. I will say I have not found one that compares to numerous that can be found in the desert. However, La Pasadita Inn is perdy darn good. The food is delicious and the prices are cheap. It can best be described as a better than average hole in the wall. Except that it's an awkward shaped building that stands alone in the middle of an intersection.
(4)Adam H.
First of all, I LOVE this place! I have been going to this restaurant for over two years, and I've always been happy with the food, pricing and service. It's a great place to go to get authentic Mexican food. Their beer and margaritas are very reasonably priced too. The staff has always been very friendly and accomodating. I have tried almost everything on the menu, and it's all delicious. Some of my favorites are the: chile rellenos, quesadillas, and the fajitas. Their queso dip is by far one of the best I've every had!! I have been to many of the surrounding Mexican restaurants in Denver, and this one is still my favorite.
(5)Cletus T.
This is not great food, but it has almost always been quick, friendly-enough, cheap and decent. I find Denver to be lacking in even passable Mexican food, so this has become a great stand-by for a quick, cheap meal out when we don't feel like cooking. Very limited beverage selection.
(4)Jeff M.
Authentic Mexican food... they definitely serve it! This restaurant sits on an island in the middle of traffic. It was the ideal lunch spot for where I used to work. I enjoyed the Tamales, that I've recently discovered. Also, I tried a new menu item - the Mexican burger... what the heck is this? I couldn't even guess what I was about to enjoy. It reminded me of a giant taco but with a burger patty in it instead. Definitely worth trying out. It looks to be family owned and operated, with grandma rolling silverware in napkins. It was a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The food was a little messy for take out though, definitely leaked out of my box a little. BUT, very tasty overall.
(4)Aric M.
Are the "margaritas" made with wine? Beans from a can? Rice made last week? Taco shell was like cardboard, tiny amount of meat, chile relleno was not worthy of mention, and, I cannot believe the whole AREA voted this to be an award worthy tamale? It's tiny, the cornmeal is mushy, and what was that filling again? Maybe mine was hollow by accident. Frozen tamales from Costco have more flavor. . . Have they changed hands? Plants are dying, the bamboo blinds and wall that my table sat next too had not been cleaned...lately. I don't understand the flawless 5 star reviews. Really quite a ways below average - I would not ever go back.
(1)Andy G.
I can't say enough about this place, as I've been there nearly on a weekly basis for years. The service is pleasant, the food excellent, and the price great. Where else can you get a pitcher of margs and three entrees for $30? All the salsa and chips you can eat, and on nice evenings a patio to sit on. And they do take credit cards now. Open every day but Sunday. Don't miss this. Groups any bigger than 6 - they don't really have room. Beer, Wine, and Margaritas. And Tequila I suppose.
(5)Shane M.
Disclosure up front. This is our favorite Mexican dive in Denver and we go nearly weekly. We love the food, plus it's cheap and usually fast! But make no mistake, this place is BASIC. There aren't any silly Taco Town guacamolito party concoctions or silly themed margaritas. You will not be checked on every two minutes to make sure your drink order is ok and you won't be engaged by chatty wait staff in suspenders. This is about basic, humble presentations and flavors. It doesn't work for everyone, that's cool. We LOVE it. And yes, they now take credit cards.
(4)Barb B.
Mexi-Quest continues with a place I have loved forever but hadn't been to since I moved away from Uptown. I wondered, as we walked in on a busy Cinco de Mayo, if it would hold up to my rosy memories of walking over on a random Tuesday night and eating way too much fried stuff with cheese. I am happy to say La Pasadita lived up to my memories and expectations. The green chile is phenomenal, I would say it is my favorite in Denver (then again I am no green chile expert, I just know what I like). It has the perfect level of heat for me. Spicy but not burn your face off spicy. The tamale plate is my favorite thing there. They are just amazing and combined with the smooth, fatty beans it is awesome. I don't eat chips often but my brother and our other friend ate the entire basket and they said they were great. The whole place is just adorable too. There are maybe 15 tables inside and then there's a patio outside with 10 more tables. The same guys have been working there for 5 years, they are great. They don't speak a ton of English but they are extremely nice. Right now La Pasadita is probably at the top of my list for Mexican restaurants in D-town. Give it a shot, just don't wander over to Unsafeway!
(4)Les G.
The food is awesome, love the stuffed sopaipilla, the enchiladas, fajitas, and chile relleno. The salsa is good too, great prices as well.
(5)Evan A.
Good little hole in the wall...well more hole in the intersection. Much like breakfast I highly doubt you can mess up Mexican food...well at least to me. It's either good or really bad. But this place had awesome reviews so I had to take my Mexican food loving friend to test it out. No frills but good food and most of all good prices. The portions aren't huge but they defiantly fill you up. I had the tamale and the taco with beans and rice which were awesome. Can't complain and I'll most def be back!
(4)David S.
Having eaten here twice, I don't see a reason to return for a third. Average food at best. There are many better places in Denver for comfort Mex. La Pasadita is not it for me.
(2)Melissa F.
Preface: I needed an alternative to Las Margaritas, which is always ok, but never great. When they recently raised their prices *again* (the 3rd time in the last 6 months), I drew the line. My husband is a teacher and I'm a student, so you can imagine that our present situation is unable to accommodate average Mexican food at gourmet prices. Present Day: Another thanks goes out to Yelp for helping me find this saucy little gem of a restaurant! 1st star is for the promptness and friendliness of the staff - the service was top notch and we arrived at 6:15 Wednesday evening and were home by 7. 2nd star is for the atmosphere - comfortable, clean and laid back. 3rd star is for the prices - $20 for chips and salsa, 2 beers and 2 meals? That' CHEAP, man...cheap! And, finally the 4th star is for the food - it had a wonderful, authentic taste, which I found to be fantastic. The only reason I didn't give them a 5th star is because they didn't have a very diverse menu...just the regular Mexican dishes, which is fine except that I like it when a chef will go out on a whim and choose to make a daily or weekly special that's seasonally delightful. We will definitely be returning.
(4)Lux B.
La Pasadita is probably one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Denver. I always get two cheese enchiladas and a tamale, a la carte, which adds up to a little under seven dollars. The quality and taste of the food is extremely consistent. The man who has always served us is quiet but attentive and polite. I think he may be the owner. I would definitely recommend this place for a quick and delicious tex-mex food.
(4)Brett C.
Been here a ton. It's one of those places that's imperfect, but you love it anyway. I'm partial to the chimichanga. Once I had the Mexican hamburger. Now, my only wish is that I could have a Mexican hamburger chimichanga. What I wouldn't do for one of those. My ladyfriend eats the chile rellenos. EVERY TIME.
(5)Andrea S.
La Pasadita Inn is perfect. The price is (very) right, and the food is delicious. If you truly love Mexican food you must try La Pasadita. It is typical Mexican fare, and can be heavy on the cheese depending on what you get, but oh what heavenly cheese! I think what really sets this place apart from say, Bluebonnet, or Las Margaritas and the like, is the quality. The food tastes fresh and well made. It's obvious your not eating Sysco brand refried beans, or Velveeta inspired queso. You can taste that your food was made with care and experience. We actually saw a lady preparing the pinto beans from scratch once. Speaking of queso, do try the Pasadita Dip (queso dip made from different types of fresh Mexican cheeses and spices). Holy crap, it was fun to eat! They serve it with fried flour tortilla slices, and it is really a treat. Not necessarily something to get every time, but worth it's decadence. Everything I've had is also really nicely seasoned, not just spicy. You can taste the herbs that they use which is very nice. As others have noted, the drinks are cheap and tasty. Ask for a corona in a glass with salt and a lime! Oh, and the lime we got: cut fresh (dry, old limes are a pet-peeve). The beer was $3.25, margarita was $3.75. Seriously. We had a meal for 2 with alcohol and app, and got out for under $40 with tip. Superb. It is a truly a hole in the wall place, set on the bottom floor of a little "business house" in a weird little corner of Park Avenue. Space can be tight if they are busy. It is SMALL, though always comfortable. This has definitely become my favorite Mexican place in Denver...well, actually it's a tie with Tacos Jalisco, but Pasadita is in my neighborhood. Go! Enjoy! **THEY ARE NOW TAKING CREDIT CARDS!**
(5)Melissa T.
The food is delicious. Simple, straightforward Mexican: beans, cheese, rice, tortillas. And it's fast. Like "How do they do that?" fast. And cheap. Fast, cheap, delicious Mexican food? Makes my little San Diego-raised heart flutter. Minus one star for only taking cash *and* for being closed on Sundays. I also don't care for the sometimes-awkward seat yourself situation. It's fine if there are open tables, but if they're full there's not really a place to wait except to stand outside, and there's no hostess overseeing the operation, so you're just sort of hawkishly watching to see who will be leaving soon.
(3)K M.
Pasdita is my local go to for Mexican food. I don't go there for the green chili, it's not the best; I don't go there for fancy Margs or tequila either, it's not that kinda place. I go for the best beans in town; for the ethereal masa in their tamales; for freshly fried taco shells; for delicious shredded beef; for lard fried chips and fresh salsa and for the quirky atmosphere and staff. It sounds weird but they also fry up the most delicious crinkle cut French fries; lard just makes everything better. As for the comment by another yelper regarding the waitress that doesn't speak English or smile, really? Sure the staff may not be the warmest, especially in the "American" sometimes overly chipper style; and the English spoken by the staff may be a bit broken at times. These are cultural differences. Being Mexican, I have experienced the difference from a charascoria in Juarez's service and English abilities and a taco stand on the beach at a resort in Cabo or in America for that matter, and find the differences perfectly acceptable. They are rude in no way at all. In Mexico you do not get chipper, overly chatty service. Perhaps in resorts you do, but not on the street. What this small group of 3/4 staff do is show up everyday, serve up delicious and very reasonably priced food, and that's what counts. Even while honing their English speaking abilities around less than sympathetic clientele and I for one love this place for it.
(5)Shannon C.
I read somewhere (my lush of a brain cannot remember where) that this place had amazing Arizona-style mexican. I grew up in Arizona, so I was expecting calabasitas, crispy, fresh chile rellenos, and fresh beans. However, what I got was bland gringo-mexican, with a side of refried beans (that tasted straight from a can), dry rice, and dry masa-heavy tamales. Sorry La Pasadita, I really wanted to like you, but I won't be returning.
(2)Andrew W.
The first thing I order at Las Pasadita is a Tecate with a lime and their Pasadita Queso dip. Wow! Queso here is heavenly. It is served in a large bowl, with large pizza shaped fried chips, not enough chips to cheese ratio here folks. Certainly, the proportions are a bit off, but they serve the endless baskets of chips to finish the orange bowl of love with. Step 1. Then you have to decide on what to eat, the queso is really filling for a couple and certainly by yourself. Everything here is good, good being under accountable. The food is really tasty, filling and completely affordable. I've eaten here regularly [a few times a month over a years time] and nothing has ever come close to disappointing my taste buds. Step 2. Don't do what I did and rely on your plastic. Usually, I go by myself and pay with cash, so it has never been an issue. They do not accept credit cards. Funny [quick] story, I was with my brother and his date and we all put our cards in to pay and no one had enough cash. The closest ATM is at the Safeway grocery store a block away. That was a bit embarrassing for the walk of shame, but it gave my brother and date some quality La Pasadita time together.

La Pasadita Inn has ruined all other Mexican restaurants in Denver for me. If I happen to find myself in another... the only thing rushing through my mind is the regret of not heading down there, even if I'm across town. Pasadita is not much to look at. Do not let this dissuade you. The place is run like a Mexican grandmother's personal kitchen (whenever I ask my Latino friends where the best places to eat are... invariably it's always 'my mom's'...) The salsa is what you'll be introduced to first... made fresh every few hours... it is chunky, spicy... and even better it slightly varies in flavor and intensity from day to day... further proof that the peppers were just chopped. Often I've found myself in the throes of a wonderful capsaicin high while sipping my margarita... contemplating if I'm euphoric from the peppers, or from the tequila. As for the margaritas... they are cheap, strong... and forgo the extra nonsense of added ingredients when tequila, lime juice and maybe a splash of sour will do just fine. I have yet to try most of the items on the menu... since my favorite dishes are so good it's hard to pull away and order something else. The huevos con chorizo are perfect... the ultimate hangover cure... served with beans and rice, the eggs and chorizo are scrambled in a perfect blend that 's not too salty, but perfectly indulgent. The fajitas are stellar... some of the best I've had in Denver... again owing it to the freshness of the veggies and other ingredients. Their chile rellenos are award winning... the chimichangas, perfectly (lightly!) fried and filling... and the pork green chili is fantastic. If you're lucky... every now and again the owner, Jose, will make an appearance... up from Mexico City. You'll probably see him sitting quietly, alone, folding silverware... but make no mistake, he's a mix between the Cowboy from The Big Lebowski... and a Mexican Jesus Christ. Maybe this is why the food is so good...

Trying not to be nasty: RUN AWAY! worst ever: steak ranchero? Small bowl tomato stained, jalapeno tainted gruel. Vaunted tamale plate? 2 3/8"X4"X 1" flour pogens with 2-3 shots of unremarkable green gravy. I had to grab a sandwich @ Safeway...somethings wrong here...chg to Polish ownership, maybe....not fair to Poles, really. Ye are warned..

Hand down- BEST MEXICAN FOOD IN DENVER! Must try the La Pasadita Dip- The restaurant is tucked away off Park Ave and is small but holds wonderful authentic mexican dishes. EVERYTHING IS GOOD-
(5)Scott K.
Simply the best. I love this place and can't get enough. Amazing chips and salsa. The best crispy chile relleno I have ever tasted bar none. The prices are very fair but there is limited seating. One of my favorite places.
(5)Quincy B.
Smothered burrito is the way to go!!! Love this place to sure the meanist hang overs. It family run and the beers are pretty cheap. It used to be cash only but changed that years ago. I recommend it!!
(5)Donald D.
Sigh. Painful to review this one. The worker was nice and attentive. The venue was authentically downscale. But the food . . . was not worthy of a frozen dinner. OK, so the chips were industrial. I kept an open mind. The menu offered a shredded beef taco -- usually a good sign relative to ground beef. But the corn taco shell had the flavor of the box from which it came; the taco featured bland beef and lettuce only. An enchilada was slathered with sauce that must have come from a can. The beans were passable. The rice should be passed by. The margarita was . . . not awful. Four stars? Five?! C'mon, Denver, show a little self respect!
(2)Trevor R.
It seems a little silly of me to seek out Mexican food in Denver on a brief visit from Austin, but such is the depth of my addiction to rice, beans, tortillas, and most importantly, salsa. I was downtown on-foot and led here for lunch by all the positive Yelp reviews. Was it life changing? Of course not. But it was fast, friendly, inexpensive, and fully satisfying. As I was eating solo, the single free basket of chips was plenty, and the salsa was excellent. Drinking a margarita before heading back to work seemed unwise, so I stuck with one of the reasonably priced Mexican beers. The service was prompt and efficient. Overall, a solid fix if you're craving authentic, no-frills Mexican.
(4)Matt M.
It is not the best Mexican food in all of Denver, it is not the biggest place, it is not trying to pretending to be anything other than a little neighborhood restaurant. They serve good food, at a reasonable price. All of your favorite dishes, all of your favorite flavors, and none of the stress of a fancy restaurant. Enjoy the patio. Enjoy the food. I took a gal here 11 years ago, and we just celebrated our 10 year anniversary.
(4)Will P.
Alright. La Pasadita is a little known Denver gem. It is SO reasonably priced, it would cost less to eat here for a week than to buy groceries to feed myself for a week. I would have gone 5 stars, but I must dock one, or really a half of one, just because the margs aren't up to my elitist standards. Aside from that, like I said, this is a relatively unknown spot in the 5280 that definitely deserves more press. However, it's so small and quaint that should there be mobs of people that take to it, I would never get a table. It's a perfect third or fourth date spot. Sort of seedy in a "I feel like I'm in mi abuelita's kitchen" kind of way, and perfectly delicious. Just check it out. Get the enchiladas. Lots of them.

Tasty, typical smothered Mexican food, conveniently located near the Un-Safeway with a decent patio to watch the traffic go by while you sip some margaritas. We've been here a couple times and for the price it's a solid Mexican joint worth giving a try. Nothing about going here lights my hair on fire, but I would certainly go back. The food is good. The service is good, depending on how busy they are. The ambiance is generic inside, but the patio is a nice outside feature. Definitely not a bad place for a $5 burrito and a pitcher of margarita. And frankly, compared to Benny's which everyone LoooOOOoooves I think its comparable. Smothered standard Mexican fare in a no frills setting. I'd recommend the Chimichanga and the Tamales!

Great Neighborhood Joint I really enjoy La Pasadita Inn, they're cheap and fresh. I even like their chips, and I don't care much for chips. I love the cozy little dining room in this funny little triangle building restaurant. It takes away from the often slow service when taking a seat back to the relaxing atmosphere. I also enjoy their house margs here, which I often try to avoid at most Mexican joints, but they're pretty good here. Mmmm, all just a short walk away from home.

Let me ask you a couple of questions. 1) Do you like seat-yourself restaurants? 2) Do you love good tamales? 3) Do you devour a nice bowl of very good green chili with warm tortillas? 4) Are you excited by sitting down, drinking a pacifico and having your food brought to you on a hot plate in less than 8 minutes? 5) Do you get your kicks from south-of-the-border drinks on a small shaded patio? If you answered yes to ANY of these questions, go to La Pasadita Inn right now and make it happen. La Pasadita is a no nonsense, fast, super radical mexican restaurant. The food is simple and perfect. eat it. now.

Pretty good, but not as good as I expected for the hype. Everything seemed pretty standard, nothing you couldn't make at home. The margaritas were pretty good though!

I have only ever been to this little gem for lunch. Someone has to add a better picture, because even after many trips I had a hard recognizing the place. La Pasadita is THE spot for lunch for some of my favorite people in the world. Thus, this place will always be a sentimental favorite for me. However, in all honesty, the food is truly delicious. The food here is simple and non-fancy Mexican cuisine that will fill you up without splitting your seams. My favorite is the enchilada and chili relleno combo. The relleno comes smothered in green chili and when ordered crispy the relleno retains its crunch. Yum! The service here is lightning quick. However, none of the food ever tastes the least bit pre-made. This place shares nothing in common with Taco Bell. Woo hoo! Pasadita is truly inexpensive and for what this place serves up it offers a great value. The place has the feel of a home more than a restaurant and the small size and pointed roof only help to further that feel. Pasadita is great spot to get a quick and tasty Mexican fix without breaking your budget or your belt.

Wow. And not in the usual good way. Wow as in I can't believe that if you search for Mexican in greater Denver (Castle Rock to Longmont) this is currently #5! Food was just ok. It looked ok and tasted ok. But it just wasn't good enough to come back for. Service wasn't too hot. They were full (why??) and he said we'd be next. We weren't. And then they brought me the wrong meal. We live within easy walking distance but I'd rather drive 15 minutes anywhere else.

I thought the food was good. They are not large servings, but I was not that hungry to that was ok. I did manage to eat the majority of the chips and salsa, which I think is some of the better salsa I have found in Denver. I ordered enchiladas and they were tasty. Again, not very large servings. The rice tasted really good to me too. The margarita was just OK for a "house" margarita. Not sure if there was as much tequila in it that I would prefer. May stick with the beer next time. The place is tiny so be prepared to wait or come back until some tables clear out. I noticed other reviewers said they do not take credit card, but they took mine, so this may be new for them. Worh the visit, but is simple/basic, but the food tasted good to me--especially for Denver.

We went to La Pasadita Inn last night and enjoyed every bit of it again. This is definitely our go-to place for Mexican in this town, I love the fajitas and the hubby loves the chimichanga. My in laws loved it and loved being exposed to some real Mexican food versus some of the crap they've tried back east.

This makes for a great stop if you're a biker or walker who doesn't mind heading down park ave w (from Colfax/cap hill/etc) to a baseball game, unless there's actually another reason to go to lodo... A great stop if you have time, that is, i was lucky to get right in & served but there is very minimal seating. I tried the tamales, featured on the menu as a Westword winner. The chips & salsa are great and I passed on the margaritas but I'm confident from other reviews they are the shizzie. Too bad there isn't a tap, not sure if they ever have a drink special either. Food came out pretty quickly and was great, good to the last grain of rice. Not much options on the menu but definitely worth exploring a few more dishes in the future. I doubt they can get anything wrong here.

What a cute little place this is! I love this building. The menu is small but well executed and I can appreciate that. The drink prices were reasonable. The margarita was nothing special, but not bad. The salsa was amazing and I could eat a vat of it in one sitting probably. The green chile is also delicious, really flavorful with a decent kick but the heat was not overpowering. I couldn't make up my mind so I settled on a burrito, and it was really good. Not too big. I wish there was a little more cheese, but they give a healthy serving of sourcream for only .75 so that's ok by me. The sopapillas were good and piping hot. For the price, this place is a great deal. Two people ate well and drank for under $25 before tip.

Mexican food is one of the most gluttonous meals I'll indulge in, and as such, I allow myself to hog out, guilt free. I do not take this pleasure lightly. I have an over-eating uniform...my biggest jeans and a flowy shirt and/or puffy vest to ensure I'll have room to expand. I ordered the flautas, and while I know they are meant to be thin these were the size of a pencil (ok, maybe more like a Sharpie). I almost shed a tear but thankfully, they were pretty tasty (and cheap $7), so it didn't bother me that much. I think next visit we'll order small add-ons (taco, chile relleno etc) to really be stuffed. I'm going to assume La Pasadita is intentionally a dive (if not, the huge tear in my booth seat is not as charming as originally thought). The place is tiny, but I like that it is a neighborhood spot with good, cheap food in walking distance to home.

Pretty tasty but not blown away. I wouldn't try to dissuade anyone from going, but I've had better Mexican food for the same price or less. I had the crispy chile relleno plate, and my boyfriend got the tamale plate, and both were fine. The guacamole was good because avocados are good. Everything was a tad salty for my taste, but still good in that salty, greasy, unabashedly unhealthy way. Warning: rellenos are smothered in green chile sauce - which is good - but I didn't see it coming. p.s. I caught said "owner?/waiter" crack a toothy grin at a couple of middle aged guys at a nearby table. I think "dad jokes" may be the key...

Pasadita Inn is a wonderful little gem. It's definitely a dive mexican place, but the food is just great! It's very inexpensive (without a drink, my meal is usually $6), and the food comes out very fast. I'd like to branch out and try some of their other menu items one of these days, but I always default to my enchilada plate. It never disappoints! The decor isn't anything fancy, but for good food at a great price, and fast service, this place has my vote!

MI FAVORITO!!! I Loooooove this place! I get take out atleast once every two weeks, it's an awesome little neighborhood joint that's small and quaint. Their green chile is one of the best I've had as well as the red enchilada sauce!! Tamales are killer and also the prices are great! Oh man, I love this place, I'll be sad when I move to another neighborhood!

If you are looking for super cheap, yummy, homestyle Mexican food, this is the place to go. After reading the good reviews on Yelp and since I was in the neighborhood, I decided to check it out. The place is VERY small - seriously only like 10 tables (maybe?) max so it has a pretty intimate atmosphere. Feeling feisty, my dining partner and I ordered tequila shots and washed them down with Corona and Modelo beer. Reminded me of my spring break college days in Mexico, and I think the waiter enjoyed liquoring us up. :) The food was pretty good - we ordered the sopapilla and chicken flautas. The green chili sauce and guac were awesome, and the standard chips and salsa were pretty good (but I've had better). For the price, this place really can't go wrong. I'm also glad that they accept credit cards (I heard that they used to not). Will definitely be back, especially once it's warmer out so we can sit on the patio.

If you're looking for awesome Mexican food, a very friendly atmosphere, and great margarita, seriously look no further. This place has the best waitstaff (I don't think the owner ever goes home), and awesome, low-priced food (but definitely not "cheap"). The green chili is awesome, and so are the burritos. Plus, you get all the chips and salsa you want! Definitely the place I take Denver visitors at least once.

Ate lunch recently - the whole dining experience was outstanding right down to the excellent salsa - hot but not silly hot. Strongly recommend!

Best Mexican food downtown. Get the tamale plate or enchiladas. It won't give you diarrhea like Benny's.

I've been eating at La Pasadita for many years now and it's always been at the top of my list when we're going for Mexican. Is there better in town? Sure. Is there cheaper...or more expensive? Sure. We LOVE the staff at La Pasadita. It's family owned and the same folks have been working there for years. My kids aren't mexican food eaters but love their french fries, which aren't anything special but my kids still go nuts over them. Their tamales are wonderful. Their green chili is always hot and to the point. Their crispy rellenos are to die for (even if they are Southwesternized.) My usual order is a cripy shredded beef taco. Wonderful slow roasted beef on a freshly fried shell, a crispy relleno and a guacamole tostada (not on the menu but they'll make it for you.) Oh and their salsa is firey and fresh! I hope to be eating here for many more years to come.

So this where we went after leaving Mojitos (read my Mojitos review for the entire story) and were so pleased wit the food and service! The service, was super quick and friendly..and the food was exceptional for what you expect cheap mexican food to be. Really good, and really spicy salsa. Our noses were running, but we couldn't stop munching on it! Great tamales! They had a plaque stating voted best tamale by westword, and I can see why! We love the tiny inside, only a few tables, and the cute little patio. I think this is our new favorite Mexican place. The only reason they get 4 stars is I wish they were open a bit later, and on sundays. Other than that, top notch for a hole in wall Mexican joint!

I'm mystified by all of the positive reviews. I went for dinner there last week because I could see how busy it was. Usually a positive sign. The margarita was tasty, but when the food came out it was a giant disappointment. First, the waitress was coughing and hacking...while my food was literally in her hands. Then the steak was served in a bowl of runny liquid with jalapenos but it was tough and tasteless. The beans were, no exaggeration, still frozen on one end. Very little or no veggie stuff (lettuce, tomatoes, etc) included. For the same price, I could have had a MUCH superior Mexican meal just blocks away at Las Delicious. Lesson learned.

Easily a fan of this tiny, locally owned/operated mexican restaurant. Obligatory chips and medium spicy salsa were excellent. Enjoyed a shredded beef sopapilla, and a crispy chili relleno for a very filling lunch. Both were cheesy delicious and smothered in a spicy but not too spicy yummy green chili. Service was competent and efficient (I don't need a server to be my best friend for a great dining experience) and the prices seem stuck in the mid 90's!!! Tasty margaritas and a shaded patio really make this a can't lose spot in my book.

Bland, subpar food. Good margaritas and desserts, but that's their only saving grace. I don't understand how this place is always full...

great local dive Mex; business has been there for many years....(1989 and earlier)

Best chips and salsa in Denver!! I used to live close to La Pasadita, I would visit this place regularly with friends and family and highly recommend it to anyone. The food is very flavorful and the service is more than sufficient. It's at an odd location but definitely worth visiting.
