This is the best mexican I've found in Denver! The tacos dorado mixed are fantastic! Prices are downright CHEAP and the portion sizes are generous! The owners are wonderful. It breaks my heart that they are ALWAYS doing an awesome coupon. I feel like they're giving the food away. I just hope that people don't abuse the coupons after they've tried it. Use the coupon for your first visit....but please just support them without the coupon after you realize how fairly priced and amazing they are!

Great experience. They seem to have solid food at good prices. I look my girlfriend here because I'm cheap, and we enjoyed our meal. The place has a nice atmosphere, cold beer, and good service. There is not much more you can ask of a Mexican restaurant.

This place is great. The food is top notch and the service is spectacular. I really felt well taken care of and like the staff gives a lot of attention here. There are a lot of good looking things on their menu. I will certainly be back to try more. Thank you!

Early morning in a weekend, me and the wife came to enjoy breakfast. Very hard to enjoy breakfast anywhere on a Atkins diet. I asked for queso fundido w/ chorizo and a chorizo omelet. My wife got thick mild spicy menudo. The queso fundido was CHEESE yes lots of melted Oaxaca cheese. Very delicious if you like cheese. The omelet was just. My wife menudo was good. I don't fully appreciate the whole scenery here. Good food but terrible dining area and it killed me. The exterior and interior needs work.

The food was great, atmosphere was extremely nice and the staff was busy. If you're looking for a nice restaurant to have a family member this is a great choice.

I can't understand why so many people I denver give such high ratings to Mexican restaurants that have bland food. There are so many to choose from, yet people get sucked into thinking that a place with no flavor is good at all. The service was alright, but the place didn't seem very clean, there was sauce burned on the edge of the plate, and the server dropped a taco off my plate as she clumsily set it on the table For the food itself, I couldn't differentiate what was was eating with looking at it. The tamale, chile rellleno, and other items all tastes exactly the same. The presentation looked hurried and careless.

Authentic Mexican food for a GREAT value! The family-owned establishment makes you feel right at home. They look you in your eyes while you order and are very respectful. The food comes out fast, hot, and its delicious! I highly recommend this place if you're in the area.

Dined at this restaurant last weekend, having gone out of my way to use a restaurant.com deal. They would not honor the $10 certificate and hovered over my family until we paid our bill I'm full - as if we were going to try to bolt without paying. I've never experienced such rude treatment from a restaurant proprietor. Beyond that the food was mediocre. The chicken in my chicken burrito was salty and tasted as though it came from a can. The green chile was okay but with all of the Mexican restaurants in Denver this is certainly nothing to go out of the way for and because of the service I would certainly NEVER go back. If I found myself in the neighborhood I would choose the option directly across the street instead.

Not closed, not sure why yelp says that. It's open and delicious. Fajitas have after light citrus taste and the tacos dorados are legit.

Juarez has great authentic mexican food. I have been to just about every mexican restaurant on 38th. This is my favorite. They bring free chips and salsa to the table. salsa is fresh and flavorful. Everything they serve is on point. The buche, al pastor and carnitasare all awesome but so is just about every item on the menu.

Excellent... I got the #38, I think... it was the one with a tostada, enchilada, taco, chile relleno, and tamale - all for ONLY $9.99! They were ALL excellent and I couldn't finish it. Very authentic, which is why I LOVE hole in the walls... my waitress was SO polite and accommodating and the prices are great for excellent food! I was very happy that the Yelp reviews were correct! TRY IT!!!

This is a good neighborhood Mexican restaurant. Don't be put off by the worn exterior as the food is tasty and the service is pleasant and efficient. I had a Torta (Jamon y Queso) which was very good. Lettuce, tomato, avocado and little to no mayonnaise. A good deal at $4.50. The torta is recommended. Our server was friendly and patient with us newbies as we perused the menu. The atmosphere is a tad too cafeteria-like. Sterile. Certainly won't make you linger. - No Wi-Fi + Parking lot in the rear. Just go down the alley. + No hassles with the Yelp coupon. + The menu is funny. It is loaded with full-page ads including one en Español encouraging you to participate in the 2010 US Census - Website is very weak - No beer (but they do have a Corona bottle piñata) + Background music was Mexican and easy to listen to

I have a weird theory on Mexican food ... the cheaper it is the better it usually is. This place proves my theory true. It's an inexpressive hole in the wall that serves great Mexican food. It's got a madre and papa type of feel to it and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The food was very tasty and came out quick. Win/win if you ask me.

We stopped by one night and used a Yelp deal. We had a hard time finding the place, as it's a small restaurant on a small strip of storefronts. The lady who served us was pleasant. The food was okay. There wasn't really anything outstanding. They don't serve alcohol here, and everything else seems to come in glass/plastic bottles. I'm glad we came by to support small business owners, but I don't think we'll be back.

You could easily miss this place if you blink! A tiny nondescript restaurant right off of Federal Blvd. this place is amazing! The decor is nothing to write home about but that is part of its charm. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. We didn't do a lot of talking as she was mostly Spanish speaking but luckily a regular translated our appreciate for the fantastic food! Not only was she our waitress but the chef as well. JJ got the Beef Fajitas and I got a combination plate with: Chicken Taco, Tostada, Enchilada, Pork Tamale, Chile Relleno and beans and rice. We ended up splitting all of the food because it was that good. The flavors popped in all the right ways. A definite must, especially if you miss authentic Mexican food that doesn't require green chile smothering it to be good. The Verde sauce they served beforehand with chips was the best I have ever had!! A lot of the time restaurants will have very bland Verde sauce. Not true here! The sauce was bursting with flavor and just the right amount of heat. When you do come here, and you must come here, make sure to save a little room for Sopapillas or Churros. Delicious! Can you tell I am an instant fan of this place?

Honestly...I don't understand the positive reviews and very high average star rating. This place was absolutely awful. Our food (2 entrees and 2 side orders) was terrible. It's also not that cheap - we only tried it because we had a Yelp Offer ($5 for $10 - thanks Yelp). Our food with two sodas would have been $28 before tip if we didn't have the Yelp Offer. The specifics: Bad tasting food. No liquor licence, staff who clearly didn't understand what the Yelp Offer meant and a very nice waitress who was smiley, but clearly didn't know the menu (to be fair to her she mentioned it was her second day, but paying customers shouldn't really be used for training right?). For silverware I had one fork, my wife had one knife. Puzzling. My chicken fajitas were fatty and super greasy. My wife (a Mexican food lover) couldn't finish her Chile Relleno or Burrito as it tasted bad. The passable item was the singe beef taco (which I asked for shredded but it came in slices - but that's OK given the other issues we encountered). One star for the salsa. I suspected the worst when we arrived at LUNCH TIME and it was practically empty - 5 people in total). I really do wonder how this place is still in business. Maybe the owner makes money from other businesses apart from this one? Yelp Offer buyers beware. This was my first Yelp Offer purchase and I'll definitely think twice before buying another. Summary: - badly trained staff - awful food - poor decor / depressing vibe. - no beer / margs - no credit cards - debit only or cash

After coming back from LA, the location and exterior seemed completely normal to me, in fact maybe even too clean! And parking was a piece of cake! Yep! I scored a primo spot right in front of the door. We walked in on a Thursday around 6:30 and I realized what jerks we were, since they were probably hoping to close up by 7pm (going by the hours posted on Yelp), but we were on our way home from the airport and so hungry! The lady was super sweet, she sat us down in the completely empty restaurant and brought us chips and 3 salsas (which vanished instantly). She brought us water and came back repeatedly to take our order, but the menu was so extensive neither of us could decide on what we wanted. Our server gave us some recommendations and we had to ask for another minute to decide. There was a lot of back and forth "you get this", "why don't you get this?", "well we both can't get the same thing!", and finally we settled on 2 tacos Dorado (beef and chicken) and a plate with a chile relleno, enchilada, taco, and rice and beans. This was the perfect amount for two. The food itself was not the best mexican food I've ever had, but it was definitely A-OK! The price was totally right too! I did have a yelp check in of 25% off, and our total came out to around $11??! I'll be back since so many other things on the menu were screaming out to us.

First, we arrived at 8:15 pm for a quick bite not realizing that they close at 8. Bummer right? Not quite. Instead of turning us away, they were totally friendly and let us order food to go. First star. Second, they were friendly and helpful about everything even as we asked numerous questions about their dishes. Second star. Third, the food prices were incredibly reasonable--many combo plates were $8.00 or less. Third star. Finally, their food was frickin delicious--smothered burrito had a delicious chile sauce and their enchiladas were bomb. Fourth star. Finally, their salsa was delicious and spicy. Just what I like. Fifth star. Overall, I heartily recommend this restaurant. Don't let the somewhat hole in the wall appearance fool you. Friendly service, delicious food at good prices? Count me a fan. 5 stars.

How do you possibly get one star? Close before Yelp hours (and hours posted on your store) say you should close!!!! We were there at 5:30 on a Sunday...PLENTY of time to snag a burrito and run. But no....

I grew up in Austin, Texas, where tex-mex is king. I have had a LOT of really good tex-mex in my life, so I am not new to this type of cuisine, by any means. Using a yelp $5 deal to get $10, me and my dinner companion ventured to Juarez, which is living in obscurity. We were the only diners this Friday evening (6pm, they close at 7). Service was very friendly and attentive. The menu is reasonably priced. What came next was the real treat. The food is AMAZINGLY good. The salsa is spicy, as I like it. The chips were hot from the fryer. After we finished every scrap of the chips and salsa, the entrees were brought out. The fajitas looked "poster perfect", and apparently tasted just as good! I'm vegetarian, so I opted for the Chili Relleno. The owner/chef confirmed that their beans and rice are both vegetarian, so I was able to enjoy this dish fully with no substitutions or distractions. Asked if I wanted corn or flour tortillas, I chose one of each for the variety. I was very pleasantly surprised with the high quality of both. Just about fully stuffed and enjoying every bite, I was sad when the plate was empty. I may have to go back in a day or two just to get another "fix" of this amazing cuisine. I'm not a flan fan, but thought I would give it a try, since they did everything else so well. I'm still not moved by this traditional dessert, but it was definitely better than other flan I have had recently. As we were settling our bill and having a bit of a chat with the owner, we were told that the restaurant has been in operation at this location for 10 years. It's struggling to keep people coming in, as very few people know it's there. It's decor is in need of some TLC, and the hours are short - but i can't blame the owner for feeling down about the situation. I'm motivated to do my part and become a regular. heck, it's only 10 blocks from my house, so I have no excuse not to return. I love supporting local owner restaurants (especially single locations where the owner is on staff), that are not part of a corporate chain. I can completely forgive the (very) modest furnishings and harsh fluorescent lighting when every bite on the plate is this delicious. Now I just have to spread the word a bit with my friends, so we can do our part to keep it going! It would be terrible if this restaurant closed, due to lack of patronage, because I would miss it. I would miss it terribly! Note on parking: There are about 3 or 4 spots in front along 38th street where parking is freely available. If those spots are taken, try around the corner on the grid of streets, and just walk a block or two. I'd not recommend using the O'Reileys auto parts parking lot, even though it is directly across the street.

I expected to be wowed, based on Yelper reviews. With all of the really good Mexican restaurants near by, there is so much competition. Instead of ordering my standard bean and carnitas burrito smother in green (this is how I compare Mexican restaurants), I decided to try the chicken taquitos with a small side of green chili. The taquitos were fine and tasted fresh and well seasoned. The green chili, although very spicy (+) was very bland and had the consistency which suggested too much corn starch. If you can't nail the green chili, you can't get four stars in my book. Service is friendly, atmosphere is nothing to get excited about. Don't go on a cold day, as there is no air lock and every time someone came in, a blast of cold air filled the small room. I'm willing to give Juarez another try as the tacos seem to be highly recommended.

Here it is; I believe the 4.5 star rating says it all for the taste and authenticity of this Mexican Restaurant. The only thing I'm here to say is that this restaurant is not great for groups. We came in the afternoon when there was nobody else in the Restaurant and there were 16 of us split at two tables. This completely overwhelmed the servers and cooks. It took a while to get food and it came out intermittently, but once it was there it was very good. We all enjoyed our meals. Even our friend who ordered the Hawaiian Burger (not kidding - but it looked good and he said it tasted good). The Super Burrito is pretty good and a steal at $4 ($5 wet). If I went back that's what I'd order. I would recommend this place if you're nearby.

Holy Guacamole! This hole in the wall is awesome! I recently attended a school carnival and tried, for the first time, a Mexican snack called chilindrinas. It is a large flour chicharrone topped with cabbage, avocado, some cream, hot sauce, fresh tomatoes, and ... what I can best describe as pickled pig skin. Like most of my very favorite foods, it repulsed and compelled me at the same time. Soon, I got to craving some more chilindrinas. So, naturally, I googled them. I found that this tiny restaurant had them, it is close to me, so I went. Turns out, chilindrinas is an appetizer, so I ordered that, of course. Also I am a fiend for rellenos so I ordered the relleno plate as well, to go. The chillindrinas really were good, though a bit much on the picked pig skin, but I'm new to this food and can only take it small doses (what a wuss!!). That came with FOUR hot sauces, three of which were clearly homemade and really really good and hot and fresh and good, super good (did I say good?). The rellenos. Pablano rellenos. Homemade ecstasy. Just amazing. Not a deep fried extravaganza (not that I disdain those crispy rellenos) and 100 times better than the lumps of foul "relleno" served up at Jack'N'Grill. Just, lots of pepper, white cheese, and delicious sauce. I crave them every minute. The man working spoke English and was incredibly helpful and friendly. I will so be back. I actually am having to restrain myself from not going back right away. Great prices, great service, GREAT food. Street parking (worth it!), blah location (worth it!).

I came to Juarez expecting to get kidnapped, ransomed, returned as a mule, or filled to the brim w/delicious Authentic Mexicano food. Thankfully, only one of the above actually happened when I went to Juarez Mexican in highlands area. The atmosphere is nothing to look at and right off the road w/no real parking. Which is what I LOVE! I pay for food quality over ambience. It's fine, I came on a Sunday evening to use my Yelp Deal, we were the only ones there, like you would feel if you were in Juarez, Mexico, the only Americans there...Authenticity, I dig. It definitely felt authentic Mexican, you can hear the woman in the back cooking your food, the other woman took our order, she was super nice and pleasant. I think people like it when you attempt to speak their language or at least say gracias. The food came out quick and was on par w/other authentic Mexican joints. I ordered just a burrito and enchilada, enchilada was phenomenal. I'd go here again if I was on Federal and need somewhere I can trust and know what I'm going to get. Prices are cheap you'd think you're in Juarez, another authentic feature, you can get full on a $3.50 burrito. No joke... Go to this Juarez, you won't need to contact the local embassy before you go and you won't be on the news the next day :) buena suerte!

Wow, what a great little hole in the wall!!! I thoroughly enjoyed the two different salsas over my Al Pastor Burrito this late morning before my day really got along...Meat was tender and seasoned to perfection, beutifully rolled with delicious homemade refried beans in a freshly grilled tortilla. Amazing prices and service capped off a nice were a definite plus. If you want ambiance, avoid this place like the plague!! If you want killer homemade mexican served with a friendly smile, you must visit!!!

Went here with a friend of mine that was in town because my favorite place was closed and this place had been recommended to me and there was a yelp deal. We ordered combination plates, mine with a taco, enchilada, and chili relleno. They were very accommodating and let me get my taco pastor crispy. The taco was good, but everything else was pretty bad. Very bland and tasted pretty watery - not at all what we were looking for. I can honestly say it's some of the worst I've had in Denver and I hate to say that because they seemed like really nice people.

I admit it- I am not the biggest fan of Mexican food. Sure, I enjoy margs and getting stumbly when I drink them, with a giant bowl of chips and salsa to stave off hunger. That's not really Mexican food, but a statement about my health and penchant for loving alcohol and tortillas crammed into my maw. I go to Mexican restaurants because the people I surround myself with seem to enjoy it. Why? I have no clue. I seem to have gastrointestinal distress every damn time I eat Mexican. I am POSITIVE that the kind owners of this restaurant were hoping for a glowing review of their restaurant with mention of gastrointestinal distress sprinkled throughout the review. You're welcome. ANYWAY... I stopped in because of the glowing reviews. They served us a bowl of chips and three salsas. The salsas were pretty fantastic - green, medium and hot.... and they looked even better when I dribbled them on my crotch. That's another thing I do, dribble salsa on my crotch. I do my very best to avoid it, with barricades of napkins and menus, sugar packets, small furry animals, but nothing can stop that salsa from reaching my crotch. It's pretty sad, really. The Yelp App has a 25% off coupon, so I used that. The server was glad to help. I ordered the Tacos Dorado. The beef ones were pretty outstanding, I must say. Who would have thought a potato taco was tasty? Incidentally, went home and tried to make one, but it was pretty much the worst thing I have ever made- and I am pretty sure I had a peanut butter and salami sandwich once, folks. I am sure I did something wrong. I should probably stop watching "Chopped" because I seem to think i can make any food into something amazing by simply mixing savory and sweet flavors, right? Maybe it was the dehydrated potato flakes or the funyuns I used, whatevs. The space seems more like a bakery or a convenience store than a restaurant, but the staff is friendly, the salsa spicy, the tacos delicious and the price is great. I will go back. And hopefully no more more gastrointestinal distress.

i want to like this place. the food seems authentic and occasional hints of great taste sneak through. the problem was that everything was watered down and soggy. perhaps it was the watery lettuce. the staff is friendly and helpful, i'm just not sure so i will have to go back and give it one more try.

Oh so yummy! My boyfriend and I enjoyed Sunday lunch here and were very impressed. Despite the seemingly sketchy location and hole in the wall status, our waiter was very friendly and attentive and the restaurant definitely leant a laid back atmosphere. I was very happy to see that they have a vegetarian combo plate, as I am a vegetarian. It was wonderful! HUGE portions, so be prepared to take some home. The best cheese enchilada I've ever eaten, a chile relleno stuffed with cheese and spinach, a bean burrito and a flauta filled with potatoes- all this covered in sour cream drizzle, with co stars rice and beans. First time customers leave with a card stamped twice, and once you earn 5 stamps, your next meal is free! Needless to say, we'll be back for more stamps!

I've been meaning to try Juarez Restaurant for some time since Kate had mentioned it in thread a lonnnng time ago. The stars finally aligned and I got in there to sample their wares. Pretty standard street style fare, not terribly cheap but by no means overly expensive. I asked the guy that waited on me what his fav thing to eat was and he said the Hamburger Juarez . It's got a 1/4 lb burger topped with a grilled hot dog, ham, cheese, avocado, tomato, lettuce, and mayo. It was on special with fries and a drink for under 7 bucks so that's what I tried on this first visit. Pretty good burger. Not real high quality beef but decent and the grilled dog stuffed in there was a nice combo of flavors. I needed more of a condiument so I dumped the house salsa from the comp chips and salsa onto my sandwich and that worked well. The french fries were most likely frozen but cooked well. Overall a pretty solid rec from the guy that I believe might be the owner's son. I'll probably be back to try the tacos dorados which are a fried taco because as everybody knows "fried is better" : )

Just went to Juarez Mexican Restaurant for the first time and definitely going back!! Read the reviews online and decided to give it a try and wasn't disappointed. Without the aid of Yelp I would've never ever gone in to try this restaurant. The location, decor, and general ambiance are horrible, but the food is outstanding and makes up for everything else. The fish tacos were fresh, hot and tasty with the right amount of seasonings and a generous helping of chopped onion, cilantro, green onion, avocado, and fish fillet. Their tamales are great, and I can't wait to return to try the fajitas. This food could be served as $30 entrees at an upscale restaurant and not look out of place. Considering most of the dishes run around $10 or less, it is an absolute steal. Try them!

I heard from a coworker who heard from a friend that Juarez had the best Mexican food in Denver. I was warned it wasn't the nicest looking place, near the corner of 38th and Federal, not for the faint of heart to be sure. Well, this really is the best I've found in Denver. I have never seen anyone inside this restaurant and I can't understand it. The food is awesome. Their variety of fresh salsas blows other Mexican joints out of the water. My husband was served the biggest, fluffiest gordita with a pile of meat the size of Texas. Perfectly seasoned, tender, spicy carne asada. I had chicken tacos and have been swayed to serve tacos at home in this style, on tiny flat corn tortillas with only onion, cilantro and salsa for garnish. I know this is common in Denver, but they know how to do it right, with FLAVOR. The food was fresh and served hot. Everyone working inside was extremely friendly and helpful, though English was not their strongest suit. Unfortunately this place does not serve beer, or I would probably come a lot more. I would take off a star for that but I really can't, the food and service have been so good. I wish they were open on Tuesdays because I've shown up before and been surprised and disappointed they were closed :( They're open late at night and have great deals, the food is quite a bargain. Don't be scared off by appearances, this place is a hidden gem. Hours 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 10 a.m.- 3:30 a.m. Friday 9 a.m.-3:30 a.m. Saturday 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday. Closed Tuesday

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization.
