Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Favorite spot on Gaylord. Good beer list. Great food at reasonable prices. Happy Hour. TVs. Bar seating. Everything Denverites want from a restaurant like this.

I have eaten here several times now and have really enjoyed almost everything about it. The atmosphere is great and you really feel like you are eating in a locally inspired restaurant. During my visits, I have tried the pizza, pasta, and almost every appetizer and have more than enjoyed each of them. The food is fresh and made with quality ingredients by quality chefs. The only reason I wouldn't give 5 stars is based on the service. They seem to be understaffed most of the time. I imagine this is due to the lack of space in the restaurant as they probably do not want to overcrowd with kitchen and wait staff. Either way, every time I have been here, the staff seems stressed and overwhelmed, which rubs off on the customers. All together this is a great restaurant in a great location with a great atmosphere. I would recommend it to anyone in the Wash Park area.

Gaylord street restaurants watch out this place is going to kick your behinds. Great pizza lunch special with super drinks. Perfect for a summer day
(5)Frances G.
Young families, rejoice! This new addition to the S. Gaylord street boasts some pretty delicious pizzas, salads, and meatballs. The most attractive quality, however, had to be large patio with corn hole and tons of room for the kiddos to run around. And a large wine and beer list for the parents to unwind while their kids get wild. The most impressive to me was their solid showing of Italian apps, like prosciutto and melon and summer stuffed olives. I wasn't able (due to not being able to fit more food in my body) to order the Italian "Works:" the Truffled parmesan potatoes, pancetta, cheese fondue, diablo aoili. But - oh - I'll be back! The roasted beet salad was divine and pretty substantial for a mere $8, plus the pastas and pizzas are made in house! It's all in all - a great pizza and beer stop that I highly recommend if you're in the area.
(4)Andrew K.
Hands down one of the best causal restaurants in wash park. The pizza is great, the beer selection is vast, and the prices are reasonable. The many times I've been there I have yet to venture away from the spicy Italian sausage pizza. It's big enough to feed 2 people or take some home for leftovers. At $14 dollars you can beat it!
(5)Nicole D.
Love the huge patio and location. I met a few friends here and this place gets pretty packed by 6:30pm so go early! I had the beet salad with salmon and it was terrific. The waitress was so kind as to modify my meal for my dietary restrictions, which I always appreciate because I hate being high-maintenance. Everything looked great on the menu so I will definitely come back for more!
(5)Victoria N.
I discovered T&D for their HH, $5 1-topping personal pizzas, Chicken Parm Sliders, $2 off draughts, overall good deals! Monday is the best, they have half off selected wines all night and it is so worth it. Nice place, it gets busy, and there are always a lot of families with small children by 5:30, so be aware the noise level. I didn't particularly like the cheesy garlic bread, which is a shame, but overall, no complaints.
(4)Michael C.
This is a big family restaurant that has a farm to table feel to it. The lasagna is different but very good. Also don't miss the cheese bread.
(4)Marcy R.
Wonderful fresh and light food with great flavor! Love the atmosphere and outdoor patio. Also has very reasonable pricing! Will definitely be back!
(5)Katie H.
This place was a fantastic drop in on a Wednesday night. I sat at the bar and the bartenders were very nice and attentive to me, I could also really tell they were having fun! I recommend the bruschetta appetizer. I also got the summer salad wi zucchini and salmon which was excellent but the salmon was a tad undercooked. Would definitely go back here..loved the vibe.

Joined some buddies for some pizza and beers for lunch and this spot was really great! They have a really good patio to sit out to enjoy the nice weather along old south Gaylord . They offered a variety of delicious craft beers that paired very well with pizza. Every pizza we ordered was really good and you could tell all the ingredients were fresh, giving the pizza that extra umph of flavor. Our waitress, and service in general, was great! Very personable and she accommodated our every need! I really enjoyed dinning at this establishment and would recommend it to anyone!

We've been in a few times so I'm comfortable writing a review now. I've been really impressed by their food. I've ordered the summer salad (spaghetti squash), the beet salad, a quinoa dish (which I don't think they have anymore) and tasted a bunch of the pizzas. We also got the zucchini fritters last night which were absolutely delicious. The prices are great for the quality of food you get. The anbiance is a litle loud...it seems like a lot of people bring their kids here. I will say though, I'm not giving them 5 stars because the service is pretty spotty. We were in last night and our server just seemed incredibly rushed, which made it hard to order anything because she would always ask a question and then run off. Just didn't seem very genuinely interested in how dinner went for us. The last time we were here we waited about 10 minutes before anyone came to the table and then the server came out and gave us some sob story about how busy they had been blah blah blah. Wasn't really much of an apology, mostly just an excuse and kind of a 'deal with it' attitude. So, we love the food so we like to stop by and eat, but I wouldn't expect too much in the area of service.
(4)Elisabeth B.
I ordered two appetizers: 1) meatballs in tomato sauce and 2) bruschetta. The meatballs were EXCELLENT. Lots of flavor, perfect consistency, and nice size and texture. The tomato sauce was also sooooo delicious. I was completely blown away and satisfied just eating this dish alone. Never thought I could love meatballs and tomato sauce so much! I would have enjoyed the bruschetta if I had asked for no olives in it (if that is possible). I didn't realize it came with olives mixed in with the tomatoes, peppers, and balsamic vinegar reduction sauce. Next time, I will bring my boyfriend and order a pizza plus a pasta dish!
(4)Kelly R.
oh dear god...the PETE-ZA. So let me start by saying my favorite pie consists of: Canadian bacon, jalapeños, and pineapple. A spicy hawaiian if you will. HTD goes beyond by adding candied bacon....it's amazing. I could snack on the candied bacon all day. So I think, in my humble opinion, they should bring a side of it, just for those of us who think it's fab, along with the pete-za. Ok, one small complaint--and this won't prevent me from returning and ordering this amazing pie--- our pizza came somewhat watery in the middle...i hope they cook it more next time. I will be sure to ask. We also ordered the kale salad. One of the best i've had: totally simple and lovely.
(4)Kristin O.
Yippee! After a long wait for this place, it's open. Gaylord Street needed some fresh blood and this place delivered. They have a great tap list with tons of local brews (Denver Beer Co, Avery, Odell), tasty meatballs, and delicious margherita pizza with fresh, salty mozzarella cheese on top. Their patio is huge and has both sun and shade. They have bags on the patio and a great, easy-listening playlist. The inside is fairly big too, with table and bar seating. They are very well staffed and everyone is friendly without trying too hard. I ordered two beers, meatball appetizers, and an 8-slice margherita pizza for about $25!
(5)Lauren D.
It's not really surprising that I loved this place, considering Park Burger/Park & Co. are restaurant favorites of mine. Plus, it's pizza! The drive to the Wash Park area isn't exactly the shortest from our house, but the patio is nice enough, the pizza is just the right level of thin crust (and kale salad -- oh my gosh, yum!!) and the beer selection is great. Definitely a place I see us frequenting!
(4)Matt C.
Yummy food, fantastic staff, and very kid-friendly. We loved the 'works' as well as the garlic bread for appetizers. The daily creation (pizza) was a winner. Top it all off with a nice beer selection and great prices and you have a fantastic lunch location!
(5)Ashley P.
Great service and fun atmosphere. Took another reviewer's suggestion and got the meatball appetizer. So good. As was the pizza. And have to love a place that automatically serves a veggie with a kids meal. Happy hour was a great deal. $3 wine and $2 off tap beer before 6.
(4)Lea B.
The ambiance of this place is really cool. We got to sit at one of the tables that has a ski lift as the seat at the table, it's the little things. I ordered the burger, which is a weird choice at a pizza place. I wasn't a fan of the cheese on it but beyond that it was really good and flavorful. The truffle fries that came with it definitely made the meal. I tasted a friends margarita pizza, which was really good. I feel like the size of the pizza for the price is super reasonable, especially for Denver.

A friend and I met here one evening to catch up over dinner. We were there in time for HH so we ended up sitting at the bar for drinks and our meal. Bartender/ service was great with recommendations on drink and the menu. My friend and I couldn't get past all the delicious sounding apps, so after a couple recommendations from the bartender we ended up ordering polenta, mushroom arancinis, meatballs and three-cheese garlic bread. The garlic bread wasn't on our radar until the bartender overheard us trying to decide if we also wanted chicken parm sliders, so he suggested we get the garlic bread and use with the meatballs to make our own meatballs sliders- OMG, best idea ever!!! The polenta was probably our least favorite, but mostly because it was such a large portion and so rich along with everything else. The mushroom arancinis were decadent. And the meatballs, both in our garlic bread "sliders" and on their own were spectacular! My friend isn't a huge fan of ground beef and even she was proclaiming their awesomeness. Great line up of beer taps, and good selection of wine too. Service was prompt and everything was awesome- even the price! It was a cold, blustery day when we were here so we weren't able to enjoy their awesome looking patio area, but I can tell I will definitely be back to check them out in warm weather, and make next time I'll order something past the appetizer menu!
(4)Michelle C.
We had the Weekend Warrior. Pepperoni, pepperoncini, oregano on super thin crust so it doesn't stuff you. Yum for real!
(5)Jean-Pierre M.
The wrongs goods need some better service and we have pasta and it was very tasty The truffle potatoes as appetizer are excellent I recommend this restaurant did not try the Pissarro but they look good
(4)Jessica H.
I love everything about this place! Perfect date night spot, especially on the patio!
(5)Marisa W.
My friends and I tried this place for my birthday. It was crowded when we arrived, lots of people eating outside. They had a corn hole area for the kids to play and a nice beautiful garden outside. They also had ample bike racks. There was over 30 minute wait so we sat and relaxed for a while well we waited for table. The inside of the places just as beautiful as the outside. They had many different seating arrangements from two seaters to swinging benches that hang from the ceiling. It was unique look. The menu had a lot of salad pasta and pizza choices. Lots of the pizzas came with white or garlic sauce but if you ask They will swap out red for you. They also had a large drink menu. A good amount of wines and lots of different beers. They even had a Colorado cider that was right up my alley. They also have a juice bar in the place. Beware, it closes before dinner. Don't come here for dinner expecting a fresh squeezed juice. Hit it up for lunch if that's your MO. Unfortunately we waited forever for everything. They didn't come to take our order, after 10-15 minutes we had to flag someone down. They didn't even bring out our drink orders for 20 minutes or so. We waited so long for the food we were almost ready to leave. The waiter was very apologetic, and comped our drinks for the wait. He also brought us garlic bread on the house. That was a nice touch, but we were still hungry, waiting. The food was good but it was quite marred by the untimeliness of the events. The pizza had good crust, but none of the flavors wowed me. I got a pizza with pancetta and it was good, but was overly salty. The flavors just weren't balanced. My friend got their funguy pizza. Their garlic sauce was good, but again, the toppings didn't stand the test of time. My other friend ordered the bolognese, and she wasn't happy. It was too al Dente for her taste. Overall this is a cool place and it looks really nice but the food just isn't spectacular. If I'm going to wait so so so long for food, it better be banging. And it wasn't.
(3)Jill M.
I liked the friendly atmosphere, the clientelle, and the service. I thought the pricing was high for food that was good but not terribly special.
(3)Peter O.
The food is serviceable but my goodness was the service/ambiance lacking. Given a dirty water glass, asked for a new one and a glass of water. Server forgot about me. Dropped plates for pizza. Half the plates for our party were dirty as well. Music is too loud, could barely hear our server. Witnessed another server drop a full pizza. Numerous times drinks were dropped off without taking the empty glass. Quite possible that the staff was having a bad night. Rough scene.

I've been here twice now. Drink: the beer selection is good, but not overwhelming. Something to please everyone, and things you maybe haven't seen before, but not so long that you're left scratching your head. They also have a decent wine list - again, enough to make most everyone happy, but manageable. Overall: everything you need, and nothing you don't. Food: The pizza is good. Inventive choices, including some that will remind you of the burger offerings over at Park Burger (their sister restaurant). As has been mentioned, they get it right on the crust - just the right amount of thin without it being a straight up tastes-like-air cracker. There is also one burger on the menu and, as one might expect, it's great. They also serve Little Man on their dessert menu (alongside other things), so that's an added bonus if you like their ice cream. One issue with the pizza is that, although the crust and toppings were good, it felt like it was missing that one last bit of awesomeness that my favorite pizza tends to have. I would describe it as good, maybe even very good, but probably not great. Service: Both times, my waitress was kind and helpful. She didn't blow our expectations out of the water, but she took our orders promptly, checked in at the right times, ect. No complaints, but also no rave reviews. Decor/Atmosphere: Really like the feel of the place inside. Warm, inviting atmosphere with an appropriate, but not obnoxious, level of rustic Coloradoness. Exposed brick, wood slab tables, a couple of hanging ski lifts as high-top chair replacements. Big exposed pizza oven by the bar. My only small gripe is that the tables are a tad too close in places, making it difficult to hold a private conversation, or even get in and out to go to the bathroom without annoying the table next to you. Overall, I will definitely be back. It is a solid, low key, go-to type of place. It might never completely blow you away, but it will never disappoint either.
(4)Mike S.
Came in with a request for seating six people. Requested outdoor seating with the seating sea being completely empty. We waited. And waited. And waited some more. We thought that maybe all the people that started to get seated maybe had a reservation. When I went to ask the hostess about being seated she apologized that there was no outside seating. I told her that I knew that and we've been waiting for over an hour. When we finally got seated it started to rain. We went inside and had to wait for half an hour to get seated. We received a boilerplate apology and no discounted meal. So yeah, it sucked.
(1)Liz N.
Just finished a run at wash park and found this wonderful spot off yelp. Delicious choices for dinner and achieved several new beer badges on my Untappd app. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!!
(5)Keely I.
We got so lucky to find this place! Reading the reviews and seeing the pics here helped. Loved everything we ate and drank: craft beers, mixed drinks, meatballs, the specialty pizza. All delicious. The Atmosphere and neighborhood were very fun. Beware of street parking, we came out to a $25 ticket and noticed several other cars with them too. Nothing says "come and bring your business to our neighborhood" like a parking ticket.

My husband and I walked up Gaylord looking to try something new, and I'm so glad we did. We decided to eat dinner at the bar since Justin - our bartender - was so friendly and attentive. He recommended the lamb gnocchi to my husband, and it was fantastic. We started with the garlic bread, which was much tastier than your typical garlic bread. The cheese had a really nice flavor and it wasn't overly greasy. I ordered the chop salad and minestrone. The chop salad was perfection - great flavor, fresh ingredients and a nice size. The minestrone was fine, but I probably wouldn't order it again. Justin made a point of asking why I didn't finish the soup, which just shows how considerate he is of his customers. Without even hesitating, he took the soup off our check. I was almost embarrassed that he did, because again, it was perfectly fine. We had a great experience at this place, and the highlight was definitely the service. Looking forward to coming back again soon!

Amazing pizza, home man dough, great salads, awesome beer. Great service, super cute atmosphere. Will def be back!
(5)Chris H.
Homegrown moved into the old Il Vicino location in the Gaylord neighborhood of Wash Park. Fun atmosphere with a great outdoor dinning area. It really does have the feel of a neighborhood bar. The menu is wide and includes a lot more than just pizza, but being a pizza fan I thought I would start with trying pizza. I have to start by saying that my favorite pizza styles in order are Chicago stuffed, NY thin, and THEN wood-fired oven. Homegrown is wood fired. It was very good wood-fired...but very good wood-fired is not as good as the others. I do look forward to next Spring when I can ride my scooter back and try their hamburgers.
(4)Sarah P.
Amazing juice place open in their patio. Manager is super nice and knowledgable and amazing fresh combo flavors that are seasonal, interesting, and surprisingly yummy. I would highly recommend this place. The patio also has cornhole in it that seems to be a kid's playground- so very kid friendly.
(5)Tim L.
3.5 Friendly and quick service for sure. Food was fine. We had: Bruschetta appetizer (a tad too sweet with balsamic vinegar) 2 Pizzas - Wash Park on wheat and Weekend Warrior The Wash Park was apparently the table favorite. The Weekend Warrior was a tasty pepperoni pizza. The important part of a pizza is the crust. They have a wood fired oven. The crust/pie style is nearly Neapolitan... the pizza is cut into triangle slices but pretty floppy near the center.
(3)Grant N.
Above average pizza. Beer list is good too. We had chicken parm sliders and scarpone pizza. Good sized pizza for 13 dollars. High quality ingredients. We sat at bar. Great service. Our bill got goofed up so the bartender comped a drink. Overall good pizza, good drinks, cool spot. Overall 4 stars but I wouldn't spend more than 20 minutes to get here.
(4)Matt K.
I stopped by here with my son during happy hour. They helped find something on the menu that he would eat and had great brew specials. I definitely will come by again with my wife to explore more of the food options. The ambiance rocks for a lazy afternoon.
(4)Dominique M.
Service was excellent. Homegrown has a great patio area, where they informed us they'll also be running a juice bar (interesting). They don't have a full bar, but have a large brew list, wine, and champagne (works for me). We had the melon and prosciutto appetizer...a light and refreshing dish for two to share. If they keep it on the menu, I could see ordering this dish for myself in place of a salad. We also tried a polenta appetizer...served with a cream sauce and mushrooms. It had sort of an odd gelatinous texture to it, but the flavors were good enough to eat the whole thing. For our entree we ordered the margherita pizza and added meatballs and mushrooms. It was presented on a circular pizza pan that was way too large for the size of the pizza, which made the pizza look a little underwhelming. As for the taste, the mozzarella (which I understand they make in house) was great...tasted/looked high in milk content, with just the right amount of salt. The crust was soft, and the pizza was very lightly sauced (not my personal preference, but my fiance didn't mind). The mushrooms were meaty, but the meatballs were crumbled up on the pizza like sausage and lacked in flavor (we would have preferred the meatballs to be sliced in half or quarters). With two apps, four drinks, and a pizza, our bills was around 50 dollars...reasonable. We'll be back.
(4)Heather R.
Love this place for an affordable dinner! My boyfriend and I have been twice now. We enjoyed the kale salad, rigatoni bolognese, and a few different pizzas. The first time we dined here, they offered the option to accommodate two different halfs of a pizza as long as they had the same base, which was fantastic because we wanted to try two but didn't need both full pies. The second time we dined here, they had changed this rule so we skipped the pasta and got two separate pizzas. My boyfriend wanted the one they had on special which was spicy, and I'm a wimp when it comes to heat so wanted to get the funguy again. Please bring back the half and half option, as that was a huge draw for our return visit!
(5)Jenna L.
Homegrown Tap & Dough is fantastic. We had the funguy, the calzone pizza style and their chopped salad. They have THE best gluten free pizza in town and their pizza is the closest I've had to NY Brick oven pizza in Colorado. Awesome atmosphere with outdoor games for warmer weather and great beers on tap!
(5)Pete S.
Really enjoy this spot. Phenomenal location with an incredible patio. Maybe the best pizza I've had in Denver and an amazing tap list. I think it may be off the menu lately but if they will still make the Meat Lover's pizza please get it and thank a chef in person. Great seasonal bruschetta.
(5)Tara B.
Pizza 4 stars Pasta 2 stars Atmosphere 3 stars Service 2 stars I really want to like this place, but every time I come here I wish I went somewhere else. The pizza, salads and smoothies are good, but the service is slow and rude. It is a shame because it's in a great location and would be perfect for a great night with the family.
(3)Zoe E.
This place rocks! We went here with friends for lunch and it could not have been better. The service was great, multiple people took care of us in addition to our server who was really friendly and patiently answered questions since some of us had never been there. The food came out in a timely manner and tasted great- I got the beet salad and the Wash Park pizza, both were delicious. We ordered a wide variety of apps and entrees and everyone enjoyed their meals. Portion sizes were generous and a few of us brought leftovers home. I can't wait to go back for happy hour... $3 glasses of wine! I can't wait to try more of their menu items... I'll be back soon!
(5)B T.
The location is beautiful, but the pizza, eh. The il vicino that was there was better, here the pizza tastes over cooked, and burnt. The place is owned by park burger guys, they should stick to burgers. I'm only giving 2 stars for there beer selection.
(2)Steve B.
Huge fan. Great pizza and lots of vegetarian options too. Good beer and wine selection. Best of all? Free Ms. Pac-Man console.
(5)Lisa G.
Eaten here several times! Love the salads and pizza never disappoints. The service is just weird and most times the lunch "manager" looks surprised people come in. You wait a long while for anyone to come to your table and the staff just really doesn't seem to care much. So much potential but they need a livelier staff!!
(2)Melissa H.
Had the Caesar salad and a margarita pizza here. The pizza was pretty good but the salad was a little overpowered with dressing and cheese. It was still pretty good though. I'll go back!
(4)Liz F.
I thought the recommended pizza with the balsamic peppers was going to be better... I should try more pizzas!
(3)John W.
Dont get stuck in the chairlift booths. So uncomfortable I left with an aching back. And there is no good way to enter the seat. Need a reminder you a have a beer belly before you eat, then this is the chair for you. Food was good as always.
(4)Brandon V.
Awesome neighborhood atmosphere with outdoor patio. While the pizzas are what everybody orders, three rigatoni bolognese is a hidden gem on the menu.

Favorite spot on Gaylord. Good beer list. Great food at reasonable prices. Happy Hour. TVs. Bar seating. Everything Denverites want from a restaurant like this.
(5)Bryan D.
It's about time we got a good restaurant on South Gaylord! The meat lovers pizza is awesome. Great scene for the family. The salads are ok, i'm not a huge fan of the amount of arugula they use. My only complaint is no drinks on the patio!! I think it's a zoning issue.
(4)Brandy G.
This place is great. I've been here on two occasions, and both times I have been impressed by the atmosphere and the service I have received. With exposed brick walls and industrial type lighting/seating, it's a very cool but cozy feel, and the staff are super laid back and friendly. Not pretentious by any means. The bartender, Justin, is especially good, very attentive without being overbearing or hovering. The food is amazing, I've had their pizza, some salads, garlic bread, and their bruschetta appetizer. All was top notch. They have a great, varied beer selection and also a nice wine selection if you are not a beer person. On a Saturday night the place is hopping, and in cold weather the patio seating isn't available so keep that in mind, there may be a wait. But it'll be worth it.
(5)Denver R.
The restaurant is good--good selection of beers, and pretty good food. They need more vegetarian options, however, for me to go there more often. C'mon, people, some egglplant parm sliders--how easy is that, and how good? Do it! As to the juice bar in the separate structure outside: awesome juices, great selection, but I recently paid over 8 dollars for a fricking juice. Highway robbery.

Their pizza is actually very, very good. And the juicery attached to the restaurant offers a very good alternative for folks not looking to drink beer with their dough. Despite complaints of poor service by others on Yelp, we had a very, very attentive waitress who was familiar with the beers and the food and offered us some fabulous suggestions. My husband and I adore their patio and will definitely be repeat customers.
(4)Natalie B.
Great lunch on outside patio, great juices and one of the best pizzas I've ever had (roasted garlic, Sun dried tomatoes, truffle oil). Primavera pasta and kids meals were also great. Highly recommended!
(5)Matthew S.
I've been here a few times since their opening, twice for dinner and once for lunch. Every time the food has been really good. My favorite so far is the sausage and rapini The pasta has been cooked perfectly and the pizza great. The kids love the patio games and the old school Ms. Pacman. Has been very busy both times for dinner. The staff had been very friendly and wait times for food were not bad at all. Lunch is less busy and was nice as much of their menu can be made gluten free. One of our employees is gluten free and he said he was going to bring his family as well. Overall 3 for 3 at Tap & Dough.

it's rare to find a single must-go-back-for dish at any restaurant, but when you do, and it's reliably repeated time after time, it becomes iconic. homegrown's kale/pistachio/dried cherries/parmesan/lemon-olive oil salad achieves this exalted status. i could eat it every day with any of the proteins (steak, chicken, salmon) they offer in rotation. simply divine. and with a free space invaders machine to play on while you wait, this is a slice of nostalgic paradise in the midst of a fabulous neighborhood. the pizza oven can get a bit smelly by the evening, and sometimes they overdo the bleach when cleaning plates and tables, but otherwise the service is exceptional, the bar atmosphere is friendly, open and outdoorsy (massive patio), and the beer list is way above average. check it out.
(5)Andrew K.

Next time, I will bring my boyfriend and order a pizza plus a pasta dish!

oh dear god...the PETE-ZA.

(5)Tyler O.
(4)Sherry S.
(4)Matt K.
I stopped by here with my son during happy hour. They helped find something on the menu that he would eat and had great brew specials. I definitely will come by again with my wife to explore more of the food options. The ambiance rocks for a lazy afternoon.
(4)Marisa W.

(5)Kris D.
(5)Cassandra S.

(3)David B.
A large group of us gathered at this inviting little Wash Park restaurant/bar for a friend's birthday dinner. For most of us, it was our first visit. After being seated and receiving our drinks, the host walked over and asked if he could be of any service. We asked his advice for menu items, for which he provided multiple recommendations. He also advised that for pizzas with many toppings, be sure to order it "extra crispy," in order to guarantee that the middle avoids getting soggy. We ordered the apps and pizzas to the letter of his advice. Unfortunately, none of us were impressed or even happy with the food. The pizza rolls were burned on the outside, and doughy in the middle. The Chicken Club pizza "extra crispy" was burned on the outer 2 inches (far too much charcoal to consider it well done), and still arrived soggy in the middle. I've never had such a sweet sauce on a chicken gourmet pizza, so much so that perhaps the chefs made a mistake. Four others tried the same pizza and agreed. If we find ourselves in the neighborhood, we may drop in to try again, but we'll need someone else's recommendations.
(2)Bella L.
Great addition to the South Gaylord St area! Pizza itself was pretty mediocre. But affordable prices, very accommodating service; nice beer bottle and draft list; and great family friendly atmosphere.
(5)Margaret R.
I feel like I need to make a number of qualifications before I get into the meat of this review. First, the pizza was REALLY good. That's the only reason it gets two-stars. Second, I am a local restaurant junkie. I avoid chains and their corporate board-certified fake smiles and well-oiled service like the plague. I love supporting my community restaurants, even if it means that service is sometimes spotty, or if the place isn't perfectly spotless. I have literally sat at Kaos for 90 minutes waiting for a pizza before. We had some wine and laughed and got kind of drunk, and it was great. So, I promise you, and I hope, dear reader, that you believe me (as much as you can believe an anonymous person on the internet) that the service was absolutely terrible. Terrible enough that I might not go back, even though the pizza was oh so, so good. So why so bad, right? Like you're thinking "how bad can the service be if you will tolerate a 90 minute wait for food?" Well the key is really not the wait, it's the wait combined with ABSENT service. So, it took probably a solid 10 minutes or more for someone to come over to our table at all. We ordered drinks from Waiter #1. We got the drinks some decent amount of time later actually from Waiter #2. Then Waiter #3 came over and we put our order in. I had completely finished my beer by the time the food came out from Waiter #4, so I asked him for a second beer. We eat our entire pizza (no beer). Waiter #5 comes and takes our empty pizza pan, and I'm like, "hey dude, still waiting on a beer." So I'm chatting with the fiance, ya ya, but then I realize still no beer. I manage to flag down Waiter #3 (who is the guy who took our order, so, presumably, he was our "real" waiter or something) and I'm like, "hey, I've asked a bunch of people, still waiting on a beer." He's like OK. Then (no joke), Waiter #6 comes over with a beer - but oh, it's the wrong beer! Waiter #3 comes over and explains to a very pissed off and rude Waiter #6 that he didn't put the beer order in, and he's sorry. So I think, well Waiter #6 must be the barkeep or something, and she'll get me the right beer. FIFTEEN MINUTES LATER, I just flag down Waiter #3 (again), and I'm like dude forget it, we've been done eating for 30 minutes, we'll take the check. About TEN minutes later, Waiter #3 has disappeared (again), and so I go over to the check stand and make some poor schmuck print the check for me. I pay (no comp, no nothing, no nobody being like "oh shoot, we really screwed this one up"), and as we're walking out Waiter # 3 finally arrives with the check, and I tell him I've paid. "Sorry about the beer," he says. Dude. It's so not about the beer being the wrong beer at this point (stupid me: I should have just taken the wrong beer). I will be frank that I was extremely irritated at this point, and probably not entirely pleasant to deal with. But I'd been sitting on a very hard chair for what turned out to be like 30 minutes with no food, no drinks, and an ambience that was steadily becoming what could only be described as a hipster Chuckie Cheese. Seriously, all I need is a drink or a dessert or snack and I will sit there all night, waiting on any of those waiters to come by and shoo me out. Also - as a side note, but not necessarily a complaint - this place is OVERRUN with small children. It's just a fact of life, I guess, but I would keep that in mind if you want to have a totally relaxing grown-up night out. I don't know, maybe I'll forgive Homegrown Tap & Dough one day, and give them another shot. I'd like to think that this was just one of those unfortunate events where all of the stars misaligned. But this place isn't entirely Mom & Pop, what with Park Burger and Park & Co. (both of which I've been to and both of which have reasonable service). I would think, though, that someone else would have to drag me back.
(2)Katharine L.
This place has an incredible atmosphere, a list of about 20+ craft beers including rotating taps from multiple breweries and pizza that is to die for! We get the fungai pizza every time with an egg added to it. I'm craving it now!
(5)Erin H.
Food is good but the portions were too small for the price. More lettuce on salad and more meat on the pizza.
(3)Thomas K.
Made the mistake again of trying it. If possible service was worse. Set and watched table across from us wait 10 min for someone to ask them if they wanted something. I think they much teach the wait staff to avoid eye contact. Not sure how this place stays in business. Won't make the mistake again.
(1)John B.
They put forth a solid effort, but the food lacks some depth and flavor. Our table ordered a few salads, a variety of pizzas and the sausage rappini. The ingredients are good, but something is just missing. That said, the vibe/atmosphere is fun, so we'll return, but more for the beer/drinks with food as the sidekick.
(3)Nick M.
Homegrown is a great addition to the Wash Park area. Food was great. The service was very friendly. Homegrown is family friendly but also a good spot to go with the crew for a couple of beers. They have one of the coolest patios to hang out at that I've been to in a while. I would recommend HG to anyone that likes contemporary style eats!
(5)Thomas N.
Awesome place! The patio is kick ass. The ambiance both inside and out is great. The brew and food menu is solid. It has some very cool features for the locals like a drink board. Cool juice bar. Just a really cool place. And their bartender is John is great.
(5)James K.
Great beer selection but not impressed with the pizza. Have so far tried 3 different pizzas that were all underwhelming. Very greasy and short on selections. Maybe Il Vicino which had been there previously set a high bar on pizza, but the new pizza joint on Gaylord leaves a lot to be desired. Hopefully they'll expand their menu a bit.
(3)K R.
Just picked up a quick dinner to take home. Excellent burger and really good truffle fries. Spaghetti Pomodoro was also really good. We can't wait to go back and dine in.

Went on a Wednesday night around 8:30pm and the place was busier than expected. No open seats at the bar and a steady crowd in the dining area, but still plenty of open tables. This may have had something to do with the rain, prohibiting anyone to sit outside. We ordered two pizzas. I had the Wash Park and my date had the Scarpone. This was one of the best pizzas I've had in Denver, and I consider myself a connoisseur. We each had a small amount of leftovers to take home. Service was on point. Looking forward to my next visit.

Food, pretty darn good, apps, salads and pizza all strong. Service was quick but disjointed , everything just came fling to the table all at once and we were scrambling to make room for all courses. Good wine. Main problem for us was NOT a good place (at least on a Friday) if you don't love loud and ToNS of screaming kids. Might go back but it felt like chuck e cheez or a daycare . Too bad.

We tried this place early since we wanted to make sure to be seated outside. The patio must be one of the nicest in Denver - kids can play, there are benches to wait where families gather and it has such a relaxed atmosphere. My husband and I shared the melon salad with prosciutto and parmesan - we then had a whole wheat meat pizza and a kale salad with salmon. Everything was delicious ! The kale salad has some cherries and pistachios and lemon juice ... I could eat that almost every day ! We had the house white wine which was good also. When we left at about 6 - the place was full ... probably a very good sign ! Staff was also very friendly - we will definitely be back !

We ordered to go. "Thirty minutes," they told us. Exactly 30 mins later, I arrived to pick my stuff up. I was greeted by a line to be seated which I waited in. Once I got to the front, I told the hostess I was there for a pick up order. She told me to wait while she seated the people behind me. If I wanted to wait for you to seat patrons, why did I order to go? Once she seated two more couples, she came to the front and asked my name. Where had my food been? Right behind me on a rack next to the constantly opening front door. It had been there the whole time and as I would learn when I got it home, it had been there for quite sometime before I arrived. Everything was cold, the pasta, the pizza and the salad (congrats there, guys). The pizza supposedly had smoked mozzarella on it. Whatever it was, it was greasy and congealed and had not a hint of smokiness. The pasta had almost no sauce and the greens were undercooked and seasoned. Blessed with a corner lot on Gaylord St next to Wash Park, this place has an amazing location to fall back on. Maybe they can leverage that because both their service and food is awful. Fool me once...

We came here on Friday night while visiting from out of town. The service was great and the food was even better. My son had the meat lovers pizza and I had the antipasta salad.both terrific with a wide selection of beverages to compliment the fresh menu selections.

Homegrown Tap & Dough is a HOME RUN for our Gaylord Street/Washington Park neighborhood. Welcome to our hood!!!

This place has an excellent atmosphere for drinks or dinner, especially on a beautiful night to sit outside. We enjoyed trying some local beers and playing cornhole. The pizza was brick oven style and very flavorful. We also enjoyed the salad. I would definitely go back! It is located in a very cool area, too. Our only negative to this restaurant was we had poor service. We asked several times for straws and lemons and never received them so we finally went to the bar and got them ourselves. After that everything was great !

Homegrown Tap and Dough is close to our house so we want them to be good at what they do. It was their first week open and we had the following comments. Pizza pans are too large for the size of the pizza. The tables are too small for the pizza pans, two pans and two plates do not fit on one table (we felt squished). The booth benches seem to be the same as the previous restaurant and still are too tall and not deep enough for the tables. The ski lift chairs while meant to be cool are not functional, the old bar stools would have been better. The wait stand is immediately in the entryway, it should be to one side so that you can at least get in the door while asking for a table and what is that thing above the wait stand, presumably a light fixture? The whole layout feels odd; the flow through the restaurant is choppy, the old set up inside was nicer. The music was way too loud; we had to yell to speak to each other. Menus need to have a larger font, we could barely read them. The pizza crust was dry and had too much flour on it but the pizza inside the crust was very good. We were not exactly sure what they were catering to...families with kids (there were a bunch of screaming kids inside and cornhole outside) or beer drinking hipsters or ? As the name is Homegrown, you would expect Coors instead of PBR ($3 PBR at that). PBR needs to go far, far away; it's nasty and a sign of a restaurant trying too hard to be hip. Will review if we go again, right now we are on the fence.

It's about time we got a good restaurant on South Gaylord! The meat lovers pizza is awesome. Great scene for the family. The salads are ok, i'm not a huge fan of the amount of arugula they use. My only complaint is no drinks on the patio!! I think it's a zoning issue.

Great lunch on outside patio, great juices and one of the best pizzas I've ever had (roasted garlic, Sun dried tomatoes, truffle oil). Primavera pasta and kids meals were also great. Highly recommended!

Great addition to the South Gaylord St area! Pizza itself was pretty mediocre. But affordable prices, very accommodating service; nice beer bottle and draft list; and great family friendly atmosphere.
(5)Katharine L.

Made the mistake again of trying it. If possible service was worse. Set and watched table across from us wait 10 min for someone to ask them if they wanted something. I think they much teach the wait staff to avoid eye contact. Not sure how this place stays in business. Won't make the mistake again.

Just picked up a quick dinner to take home. Excellent burger and really good truffle fries. Spaghetti Pomodoro was also really good. We can't wait to go back and dine in.
