We were looking for a quick burger and fries after traveling all day before we settled down in our hotel room. Our hotel recommended this place. My husband had a pretty great burger and I got a blue cheese wedge salad. Both great and hearty portions for the prices. As an appetizer the stuffed bacon wrapped shrimp are a must! It was actually nice and quiet for a Thursday night so that was great too.

In town for the weekend and needed a good place to eat. after reading mixed reviews I was skeptical but I must say it was worth it. Great food and service. The hummus was amazing and unique!! Will definitely be back when I'm back in town!

Love this off the beaten path bar and restaurant just a short walk from 16th street mall. Staff is frindly and they have a killer happy hour menu.

The only thing worthy of one star at Hodsons were the potato dishes (fries and mashed potatoes) served with our Meals. The chicken was undercooked and the flavors of the steak were so bland we had to ask for steak sauce. Not impressed at all by this restaurant... It was entirely too expensive and I think we would have had a better dinner at Applebee's.

Here are the facts: 1) We got the 27 dollar steak and the 13 dollar chicken, brie and apple sandwich. Plus drinks, the bill was $60 2) Steak was mediocre. It was tasteless and I had to douse it in A1. The cut was way too thick and it tasted reheated. Something I would expect from a Denny's. 3) The Chicken, brie and apple sandwich was actually inedible. The whole, unseasoned Chicken breast was severely underdone and tasted like it was boiled in a vat of dirty brine. We got it taken off our bill. 4) We left nauseous. 5) Waitress was also the bar tender, and obviously didn't really care about the quality of our experience. She was inattentive. I don't doubt that this place might be good on the right night, but what we experienced was nothing short of disgusting. Seriously, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!

We ate there yesterday and our food sucked! The fries were chewy, the waiter screwed up the order and the burgers were barely warm. Also everything was bland. For such a fancy place, I was expecting much more.

I'm happily upgrading my rating for Hodson's. The same group of us went back, and our experience was much improved. The service was friendly and quick, and the General Manager even popped by to say hello. This visit was only for drinks (quite OK wine selection, by the way), but with renewed positive expectations, I know we'll be back again for a meal. Good job Hodson's!

Nothing to write home about, but the place is pretty cool, and the service was decent! Food wasn't bad...wasn't great either.

Great atmosphere/decor/table setup - amazing food choices that taste wonderful - the menu was concise and not too busy - I hate menus that have too many choices, they know their niche and update the menu with new items - I like that kind of fresh approach. The waitstaff (during lunch hour) was very attentive and was quick to suggest items or remark on items based on their own TASTE EXPERIENCE... this tells me the staff are fully aware of the menu. The drinks were very fun - I tried a version of a manhattan which was very tasty and presented artistically - as was the food when it arrived; I was visually delighted with this experience! I am definitely making a point of coming back for several visits to try more items and bring more friends.

We went there for the first time with a Groupon on a Sunday. It looked a little too fancy at first, but ended up being really relaxed and just nice. The place does not open until 4 pm which is about when we arrived. Great place to hang out at the bar and watch some football. We had 2 pizzas, the Denver Meats and the Hell on Earth. The Hell on Earth was awesome! We then ordered some fries which were also pretty darn good for fries. The staff was awesome (at least the bartender since we sat at the bar) Drinks were good and reasonably priced (we did go during happy hour). Overall this place is an A. Will be going back soon!

Pretty TERRIBLE....mediocre at best would be a compliment for the dismal and upsetting brunch.... no hostess when we walked in, then we were seated only table there and yet they still couldn't get it right. Ordered coffee...came in a dirty mug...some brown crusty stuff all over the handle. Wasn't given sugar selection or a spoon. When she did bring a caddy, it was sticky and gooey on the outside and packets were stuck together by steak sauce or ketchup. My meal.... GROSS and not even edible. My over medium eggs were beyond well done, greasy cold hash browns and the salmon was unflavored and VERY fishy. When I complained it was pretty bad... she made excuses and said they just started serving breakfast and their cooks have little experience... so when I just ordered a basic eggs and meat breakfast with scrambled though it would be better.... right scrambled!!! took 22 minutes to get a new one and the eggs were overcooked and still quite terrible. I asked for salt and pepper and there was a hair wrapped around the salt shaker stuck to it.... I seriously lost my appetite. But no worries... the waitress was behind the bar TEXTING yet again. I wouldn't normally care for a bev nap or coaster but my water condensated all over the table and made it ridiculously wet. Even for a groupon this WASN't worth it in the least! 2 stars based on the decor and great flat screens.

Say it and mean it . . . "Three stars is not an insult." Hodsons is A-OK . . . for lunch, that is. It's downtown. It's conveniently located. It's got pretty fast service--at least at lunch (the only meal for which I've visited). Its food selections are decent, and I've not had anything that was bad (but I've not yet had anything that was super great, either; but it doesn't take super great to get ya 3 stars). All in all, a good choice for a casual but professional business lunch (and what am I if not casual and professional . . .?). Ciao, :-D "CbutP" M

We went to Hudson's last night to use a Groupon that was about to expire. We waltzed right in, grabbed 2 seats at the bar and were immediately greeted by not one, but two different bartenders. I ordred a water (time to dry out after the holidays!) and my partner in crime a vodka drink from the happy hour menu and we set out to look at the menu. We finally decided on the stuffed shrimp to start, he ordered the lobster tacos and I had the rotisserie chicken salad. All 3 were great choices! The shrimp appetizer was 5 large shrimp stuffed with spicy stuff and wrapped in bacon. What they don't tell you is that they're also accompanied by 5 gigantic and delicious onion rings! Both the shrimp and onion rings were outstanding. The lobster tacos were also amazing - the standout on this dish was definitely the side of plantains. My salad was my least favorite of the three dishes. It was overly sweet with apples, strawberries, and dried cranberries, and topped with a sweet-ish cider vinaigrette. It could have used some more savory flavors, and the dressing seemed overly mayonnaise-y in some bites. It wasn't a bad salad, I just probably wouldn't order it again. Overall, I think some of the menu items are on the pricy side. The shrimp appetizer was $15, but the food is obviously high quality and well-prepared, so I guess you get what you pay for. We will definitely go back - I bought another Groupon today, and can't wait to try some of the items on the happy hour menu once I'm done drying out!

The service was outstanding, the decor was gorgeous and the flavors were nice, but all & all I'd rather spend my money at the Yard House. We came here with a Groupon. The menu is TINY and not very inspiring in my opinion. I finally decided on a cheeseburger and onion rings. Boring, but tasty if done right. The cheese on the cheesburger was EPICLY yummy. The flavor was great, but the bun was meh and although I asked to have the burger well-done (MY FAULT), it was SO dry that it lacked all flavor other than the cheese. Also, I wish the onions had been raw and I had to request pickles and mayo. The onion rings were tasty, but overly greasy. The texture was good, but the flavor wasn't really there. I asked for a side of dippin' ranch and it was SUPER flavorful, but to the point where it overpowered the onion ring in a VERY disappointing way. Also, it's WAAAAAAAAAAY to expensive for what you get. I did try a bite of the boyfriend's corn chowder and if you like cream and butter (and really, who doesn't) it's a BIG WIN! All & all, I won't be back.

Good stuff. Can't wait to go back. I was just there for happy hour and was thoroughly impressed. The beer selection is pretty good and the happy hour prices are hard to beat. I was particularly impressed by the liquor happy hour prices on premium liquor, not just cheap well drinks. We tried the sliders which were quite tastey. The menu was very interesting and I'm eager to go back for a meal. They have a nice patio area and a very large bar. This place will be a hot ticket in downtown.

Just had a great lunch at Hodsons. The service was friendly and efficient. We just ordered entrees and there was plenty of food without the soup, appetizer or dessert courses. One of us had the Ahi tuna salad. Delicious sushi grade tuna, sesame encrusted, on lettuce. The other had the Hodsons burger: black angus on a bun with lettuce, tomato, caramelized onion. With awesome fries!

Came here while on vacation. . Saw all the bad reviews and was hesitant however I Think they had just changed the menu and our food was very good. I had chicken salad and he got the dip sandwich. . And all the food that I saw around me looked amazing. Nice presentation and taste... wish it was in California.

Hodson's is my favorite spot to grab dinner downtown. The beer selection is great and the meat and potatoes flatbread might be the best "pizza" I've ever had. I've always had good service, and they know how to treat their regulars well.

We had a perfect experience here last night! I'm so confused how this place has such mixed reviews. They're located in a business building so I'm sure that's most of their customer base and being a Saturday night, it wasn't too busy. They were about three tables seated and a group of guys at the bar and the hostess told us we could go wherever we wanted. It was a swanky yet casual feel and there were tv's strategically placed throughout the space so there was a good view wherever you sat.Swanky place, a varied menu with items ranging from burgers to elegant salads to sushi, this place had it all. I was a bit worried it would suck since Hodson's didn't have the best reviews on here but we had $40 to spend with our Groupon so I went in hoping we would have a good experience at best. Hodson's completely went above and beyond my expectations--starting with our server, Kristina, she was on top of her game but overbearing and was great with refills (I completely judge a place on their iced tea and it was perfect). Since the menu items were on the pricier side, we split two appetizers to start out with. Little did we know that the two appetizers we ordered, the Asian Nachos and Dungeness Crab Dip, were the two biggest appetizers on their menu. Starting out with the Asian Nachos which were out of this world---crispy wonton chips with chilled chicken, avocado, mango, sweet soy sauce and wasabi cream sauce. We put a dent in the plate between the two but we couldn't finish it thanks to us switching back and forth from the nachos to the crab dip. Served in a hot skillet, the crab dip was divine. It was served along side warm flat bread and was the perfect contrast to the tangy and sweet Asian nachos. We finished this one and were scraping the skillet to get every last bite we could! To ensure we hit the $40 mark, we put in an order for a pizza to split which wasn't the smartest move on our part because we were near full by the time it came out. Our server earned even more brownie points for her timing with everything because I hate when you're sitting there trying to enjoy an appetizer and your entrée comes out. We were just done with our appetizers and while we were nearing done, she told us she just put the pizza order in. The pizza, the Denver Meats, came out and it was gorgeous with an array of cured meats like pepperoni, sausage, salami--it was heavenly. Unfortunately we could only finish one slice each which meant leftovers for later this week! The entire experience at Hodson's from start to finish was perfect and as much as I believe in writing a letter due to bad service, I also believe in giving props where they are due. I wrote the restaurant to let them know what a fabulous experience we had and hope that they keep up the great work. I'm still confused how they have unfavorable reviews on Yelp, I cannot wait to come here again! **PS They validate parking for up to 3 hours!!

Yes to the new menu!! We live very close so we would go because of location, and not wanting to cook. I must admit when my husband said lets run to Hodson's I was not thrilled because of tired old menu. When he was reading the menu I asked don't you have it memorized? He looked up, It is all new! I could not decide, it all sounded wonderful! We ended up with the coconut shrimp sushi roll, yum!! Pizza of some kind, very good! And sliders with mushrooms and a great sauce! I want to go back and try something else!!!

Ok. Let me say that this place has a burger with cinnamon-dipped pears on the menu. It's called the Fez burger, and it is delicious! Anyway, I went in last night for dinner and found that it was super packed during happy hour, and for good reason. Good beers are only $3.00 for a pint, so that's nice. It took a few minutes for someone to seat me, but once they did the service was very good. My waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu. It was a little weird I had to ask for a happy hour menu with my dinner menu, but not a big deal. I started out with lettuce wraps, which I expected to be little bite sized things. Nope. Instead I got four full leafs of lettuce wrapped around rice noodles, chicken, and fresh veggies with a yummy plum sauce. They were 2 dollars off on happy hour as well, which was nice too. Then came the burger, which, as I mentioned before, had cinnamon pears on it, as well as goat cheese and crispy onions. It was super original and very good. The fries on the side were tasty too; in fact the whole meal was super savory. Also on the menu was pizza, fried chicken, and sushi, so it seems like it would be good for everyone. It was a little expensive, but totally worth it. My server was not totally attentive, but as I said, they were slammed. Also, I was wearing jeans and a tee shirt, and everyone else was dressed up, so yeah, it feels pretty fancy. I'll for sure be back.

Hodson's is visually attractive and their service is always excellent. The food is also good. I like that they offer sushi, albeit, a pretty traditional, not-too-exciting selection. They use fresh, quality ingredients. They have a good happy hour as well. I love their nachos with chorizo. If I had to compare them to another restaurant, it would be Earl's, but with better service.

Great place downtown with a friendly staff. Great environment. A little pricey, but a great place to impress a date or out of town management. Good for breaking bread with co-workers as well. I've had the turkey burger and fish tacos. They both taste great.

This place is great! The beer selection is limited but there are some very good choices, the food is superb! We order the Central Park burger and fish tacos, both came out amazing. The only thing is the burger is almost well-done even though we order medium. The price is great for the quantity, quality of food and service. The seatings are very comfortable and big screen TVs everywhere. Outdoor seating area is also very nice although it was a bit chilly now to seat outside, in the summer and early fall it would be perfect. The restaurant is actually by 19th and Curtis, not the 18th and Curtis as shown on the address. We will be back soon!

Went here to use a Groupon before it expired and let's just say, I'm glad we got a good deal. We had their stacked caprese, butternut squash type soup, root spinach salad and something else (it really wasn't anything worth remembering). The caprese was was about 2 pounds of mozzarella with about three small tomato slices and NO basil?! The salad has very minimal toppings. The soup was great, but had more cream than necessary. Despite the mediocrity, the staff was very friendly, but didn't seem very educated on the menu or options, it was completely dead and they have great TVs for game watching.

This restaurant is great. I work in the North Tower of the building, and it's not just the great location that gets me coming back constantly. The entire staff is kind and prompt to help me whenever I need anything, the food is great, and the bartenders make great drinks. Lucas and Wesley, the managers, do a great job at keeping their staff together at all times and assuring each customer is happy with their experience. If you are looking for a good happy hour spot after work, this is a perfect place to hang out with some people. (They make a GREAT tito's mule) On Thursdays, they also have Ladies Night, so it's half-priced wine and cocktails all night- which, being a girl, I certainly love after a long day of work.

  • Maria M.

Food is over prized in my opinion, as are the drinks. We had the burger and duck oil truffled fries. The food was decent but nothing to write home about. The menu has no variety. The server must have been gay because he paid more attention to my male friends and their needs then to me. Not that I care but when you come to refill my friend's drinks ask me if I want another glass of wine. Frankly with all the locations in Downtown Denver I would be perfectly okay with never going here again..

Stopped in to meet a friend for lunch at Hodson's and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! We both had the local-Colorado-all-natural-grain-fed-organic, (and fresh), beef burgers! Boy they were tasty! The service was excellent, the management, (I believe his name was Mike), was in a freshly pressed and new looking shirt and was very friendly! He stopped by multiple times to make sure we enjoyed the food and libations and had a genuine personality. This restaurant has recently updated their menu and I couldn't have been pleased more with our experience! Definitely a must for local business men and downtown folk looking to enjoy a tasty lunch and ice cold martinis!

Checked it out for the fifth time post work for happy hour. Ive only ever sat at the bar so I cant comment on the experience from a table. Bartender are attwntive and nice ladies and gents. Im a sucker tip wise for anyone who remembers my favorite drink and they all do. Makes me feel pretty awesome and everyone loves that "regular" feeling, right? Happy hour menu is badass. Good variety of food and drinks and for one person, you can skate by with a stout well drink (wells here are more premium than some bars) and a sushi roll for around a tenner. I will warn you, douchey annoying people are common to run into here. Its not the servers fault though because the business is located in a place that attracts such a customer. So dont punish your server for the migraine you get after listening to some tool go on and on about their most recent trip to mexico or the pointless account they just landed. Also, dress here is like business casual during happy hour ive noticed. Not an official dress code but so many people are here straight from work that this is how the majority of custoners are dressed. Im mentioning this to give those who are more conscious about these things a heads up. Hodsons, you have awesome bartenders, good food, and a cool ambiance. So much so that I can ignore the silver "fox" next to me verbally undressing another patron at another table. That's saying something...right? ;)

A small menu with great variety. You can choose between burgers, pizza and sushi! We had the Fez burger last night and that was amazing. It was either that or the Turkey burger. All their pizzas come out nice and flavorful! Despite the lack of service last night from our waiter, we will still come back. I understand you guys were slow last night but c'mon now. My golden rule is if there is sushi on the menu, sit at the bar, not at a table. Service is like night and day. Bar service has always been exceptional. Table service has lacked quite a bit. If your waiter (like our's last night) starts ignoring you and cruising around the bar and chatting it up with his buddies, I would highly recommend requesting for another waiter/waitress. How hard is it to turn on the Avs game after requesting twice? Thanks for snapping back at me and ignoring us the rest of the time. Hodsons is in a business building and can be easily seen from the street. They will also validate your parking ticket for up to 3 hours which is awesome too! This place can get loud during happy hour but what place doesn't. The atmosphere is cozy and the seats are comfortable. If no one is there, I'm sure you could fall asleep on the bench seating! I like this place a lot. Now that I have been here a hand full of times, I know what to look for and things to avoid. A fun place to hang out and catch up with friends!

This was our second visit for dinner using a Groupon. I had made an Open Table reservation. It was really crowded as we waited about 5 minutes for the Host to seat us. We ordered the Shrimp & Lobster Risotto and the Petite Filet. The entrees came out in about 15 minutes. Good risotto takes atleast 25-30 minutes to prepare. The risotto was soupy and my husband had to ask for a spoon. My tenderloin was seasoned and grilled to perfection. The service started out attentive, but as the meal progressed it was difficult to get the spoon or a water refill. I wanted to order the cheesecake and a coffee if the server had come by, but we needed to get going to miss the "Parade of Lights" traffic. There are so many restaurants to try in LoDo that we probably won't be back.

Not really sure why some of these negative reviews are on here. We went on New Years eve and had a fantastic time. We started with caramel bacon sliders (AMAZING). We each got an entree and had the deconstructed chocolate cake for dessert. The wait staff was attentive and professional. The food came out in perfect timing. The flavors were very good on the appetizer and dessert and were still pretty good on the entree however my potatoes and carrots were slightly undercooked and tough. Overall a great place for the price point.

"A whole lot of mediocre" was my impression of the food here. This was a far cry from the claim of "An Exquisite Denver Dining Experience" that appears prominently on the website for Hodson's. We came here with a group last Friday. This was not due to an overwhelming desire to come here, but rather was the unfortunate result of the game known as "where have people NOT been before". I will say that the service was quite good, and that our server was very honest. She provided accurate descriptions of what we were ordering and she was quite correct. The pizzas here were decent, but nothing special. They did have some unique offerings. The HELL ON EARTH pizza (with Chorizo Sausage, Habanero Peppers, Shallots Garlic Cream, and Drunken Goat Cheese) was brutally spicy. It was more that I wanted that night, but on other occasions I would have loved it. I also had the TEMPURA SHRIMP ROLL ( with Asparagus, Carrot, Tempura Shrimp, Sweet Soy). The server had given fair warning as to what to expect. Although it had a nice presentation, the rice ratio was way too high and the rice itself was overcooked. The GRILLED ARTICHOKE with Hollandaise and Garlic Cream was rather disappointing. There was very little grilling on this soggy offering. The Hollandaise was weak and the Garlic Cream tasted like ranch dressing. It was, however, a very large serving. Happy Hour runs until 7pm Monday through Saturday. That was nice, as we were able to take advantage of it early in our dinner.

Hodson's was quite the "power lunch" spot so it seemed when I met a girlfriend for lunch one afternoon at 11:30. I decided on the salmon over quinoa, spinich and almonds and I literally wanted to lick the plate! The salmon was cooked medium and to perfection and the quinoa had a night flavor added to the texture. Good service too - but I dropped $25 on lunch.

nice set up, large area.. great outdoor seating too. the day we visited happen to be the busy day with two waiters and large group to take care of. servers were polite but was slow due to this. the food we got for the price.. it was ok. good thing we had group on but still felt like we got cheated. its right across from John Elway and Ritz and i am sure there presence must influenced the pricing of this place. Wouldn't get out of my way to eat here.

I am so happy to say that my second visit was just as good as the first. EXCELLENT service here, though I must say the hostess was awkward and from what I suspect completely high when we went. It was an awkward start, but things got much better. This time we got 2 entrees, 2 desserts, and 2 drinks with our $40 Groupon. The only bummer about this trip was the ice cream was weird. We got two different flavors and one scoop was REALLY icy, while the other was pretty smooth so who knows. I'll be back. Such a fan of this place.

So we went back and the things seemed to have gone downhill. We started with the sushi -- Shrimp, Bacon, and Avocado -- and it tasted as if I would have made sushi at home. It is partly my fault for ordering sushi at a place that also has pizza and burgers on the menu. The texture of the rice was just wrong. It was mushy and overcooked. Next we split a BBQ Chicken pizza and crab dip. I ordered the pizza without onions, but it was onion laden. The BBQ sauce had huge overpowering onions in it, so I was not a fan. I feel that since I asked for no onions, I should have been warned about the sauce, and I would have ordered something else. On the other hand, the crab was phenomenal. It is served with flat bread wedges. If you have ever made or had the crab cheese Hors d'oeuvres at somebody's house served on English Muffins with Old English cheese sauce, Hodson's dip is very similar. It is good. After 2 visits, one good and one bad, I feel that this place is overpriced. I can't say that I will never go back, but I can't see myself saying "Let's go to Hodsons" either.

This is a good place to have a beer during happy hour and watch your team play. The service is consistently prompt, professional, and excellent. The food, however, falls short of its own aspirations. Based on its location, décor, and menu, Hodson's can fairly be described as one restaurant trying to be both fine dining and a sports bar. It falls short of being a high-end sports bar because its menu does not deliver on that promise (except in price). I'll start with the appetizers---the house made chips boast inconsistent texture. The fries are solid, but its hard to make stand out fries. The chicken sliders, though made with high quality ingredients, taste like something frozen (though they clearly are not). The beef/bacon sliders, however, deliver. The Carpaccio lacks flavor, and the high quality raw meat is essentially deprived of is high flavor potential. The burgers are no more remarkable than any other "specialty" burger, though they have always been well-prepared. The sushi rolls, like the carpaccio, are high-end ingredients with out the high-end flavors. And that may be the best way to describe this menu--from the flatbread to the entrees to the sushi--all of the place with various medium-to-high end dishes that all fail to deliver high end flavor. Perhaps if the menu were refocused to be thematically consistent, rather than a hodgepodge of too many cuisines, they could deliver with more consistency. That said, I want to be clear: none of this is bad. It just fails to be as good as it could be. The Asian Nachos were a stand-out. Combined with a beer they made Hodson's a great happy hour stop over. But you shouldn't stay for dinner. Three stars is "A-OK." And that is certainly true of Hodson's. You'll have a good experience here.

I went here using a grupon deal. I got the chicken and waffles which was recommend by my server. He was super interactive with us and suggest the cheesecake which was massive and delicious! I wish I remember his name!! Great service! Defiantly be back!

I wasn't impressed. The food was very ho-hum and the menu was unimpressive. Their happy hour is popular - lots of people and of course the drinks are plenty. I just won't be going back because there was nothing special about this place. The service wasn't even that great.

Hodsons may be my favorite restaurant in Denver. First off, the food is fantastic. I have tried 90% of the menu and have never had a bad meal. The atmosphere is great, lots of big screen TVs for the sports fan and plenty of seating. Last but certainly not least is the staff. They are all super friendly and professional. If Wes is bar tending, make sure to order one of his signature drinks. Do yourself a favor and go!!

False advertisement with an older happy hour menu online. I remembered when they used have half yards, which was awesome in the summer and that was the main appeal here. Now there's no appeal. Had their $6 standard Moscow mule and it was not great. All of ours tasted different. Some had more vodka, some had less and it was all with flat sprite and barely any ginger beer. Will go elsewhere for happy hour thanks, might come back for dinner or lunch maybe?

The food is amazing! The service is terrible. We ordered food, came out separately, our drinks did not come out together. A friend ordered chicken on her salad which came out 20minutes after her salad. Also splitting checks was a complete mess. I hope they figure this out, because the patio is gorgeous and the food was yummy. Real shame

I love their happy hour. I live nearby and frequent this place after work. Great drinks at good prices. Happy hour food menu is a big plus too. The dinner menu is great, I've enjoyed everything I've tried. I recommend the short rib. Bartenders and servers are knowledgeable and friendly. I've had nothing but excellent service here.

Good happy hour! Heard of this place from Groupon. $20 for $40 worth of food. Nice tapas bar too.

My only complaint is that happy hour used to be a GREAT deal. Now, the limited HH menu just seems to be smaller portions but full priced for the size. $6 edamame, for example.

I've returned to Hodson's three other times since my initial review in late August. While each time has been exceptionally busy, I cannot stick with my original 3-star rating solely based on the lack of service we had during our first visit. I really LOVE their creative menu options! Hodson's isn't your typical corner grill. I can literally fit Hodson's into my day ANY day of the week! Salad for Lunch on a Tuesday, Sushi at Happy Hour on a Thursday, Soup & Appetizers on a Saturday after a long day of shopping on 16th Street Mall, or Brunch on a Sunday while we catch a Football game in the Bar! I'm grateful this place is only one block away!

Maybe just for drinks this place is okay, but would definitely never recommend it for dinner. The waitress was rude, the food sucked, and all-in-all it was pretty bad. The only redeeming factor was the wine.

Went to Hodson's Monday night. It was a bit quiet, but still good for happy hour because of the food and drinks. I had a Cold Snap, fungi flatbread and calamari. The beer was good of course, but I couldn't get over how good the flatbread was. The calamari was a little greasy, but also tasty. All in all, a solid happy hour place.

Hodson's is my favorite spot to grab dinner downtown. The beer selection is great and the meat and potatoes flatbread might be the best "pizza" I've ever had. I've always had good service, and they know how to treat their regulars well.

I went here using a grupon deal. I got the chicken and waffles which was recommend by my server. He was super interactive with us and suggest the cheesecake which was massive and delicious! I wish I remember his name!! Great service! Defiantly be back!

Good location with a large patio. Slightly outside of the core of downtown but a good place to meet for happy hour. Lots of draft beers to choose from. Asian nachos are awesome. Good place to watch a game - lots of TV's around.

I just went to Hodson's for lunch with some coworkers. I ordered the half soup half salad which said on the menu that it came with a bowl of soup. My other coworker ordered a cup of soup. My order came out with a tiny salad and a CUP of soup. The waitress claimed that my bowl was slightly larger even though they were the exact same size. The ceasar salad was mediocre and the soup was extra salty. My other co worker ordered a salad and substituted her chicken for shrimp. The waitress said it would be a small upcharge for the shrimp. I'm not sure if you consider $8 a small upcharge or not but thats what it turned out to be meaning she paid over $20 for a salad at lunchtime! I think at the end of the day this place is over priced for the food.

Great service! Sunday pizzas are buy one get one free. The fig and portabello mushroom pizza is worth the risk. I would give more stars, but the menu as a whole really was A-ok. We go out to eat very often, and this place wouldn't be my favorite simply because the food is not fantastic, but it actually is pretty good. The place was clean and not at all crowded so I think it's a great place for a Sunday quick dinner.

The food tastes good and is prepared well. However, the restaurant is incredibly loud and the service is appallingly slow. Our server checked on us maybe twice and it took nearly 45 minutes for food to arrive. This was during lunch hour and the place wasn't even full. I'll skip Hodson's in the future.

I am in the service industry and understand the importance in making a GUEST leave feeling that they had a great experience. If not, then make it great before they walk out the door. Unfortunately, hodsons did not make that happen. We waited for a bit before we were actually greeted. We ordered happy hour margaritas and grilled artichoke. We got overly sweet margaritas and edamame? We didn't even mention the artichoke/edamame mix up as we are very laid back people. The edamame had some horrible seasoning on it. We were starving so we ate them anyway, scraping off the seasoning. As our main course we ordered the half chicken split. I must say it was quite good with a great presentation. That is the only reason I gave them two stars. The atmosphere felt like an airport. We bought a groupon that was worth $40. Our bill came to $56 but aparently you cannot use it during happy hour. This is clearly not stated on the groupon, but they excuse is that it says in fine print "not valid with any other promotional offer", and apparently happy hour is a promotion. Regardless of previous posts saying that you can use it during happy hour... you actually in fact, cannot. Overall, it's pretty pricey for what you get and there are PLENTY of amazing restaurants in the area to go to instead.

The food would have been okay if it all came out together. The sushi roll was twice the price of regular sushi, and half as good. The server seemed flighty and didn't seem to care about us. My husband and I came during happy hour (with reservations) before a movie. They were busy, but not packed. The waiter wrote down the completely wrong entree for my husband, maybe apologized, maybe not. It sure didn't seem like it. I waited patiently for my husband's correct entree to come out, while my plate got cold. He didn't offer a warm up of my plate, he didn't comp anything despite having to wait and wait. Not impressed. Seems like the food could have been awesome if it was correct, and not cold. The server left something to be desired though. We are always good tippers for even "okay" service, but left something around 12% with a short note regarding our surprise that he did nothing to make up for his error in our food order. I wouldn't go back. Nuff said. Probably a good place for large group happy hours who don't care about money or when their orders come out. Not a good place for dinner.

I ordered prime rib Benedict with chocolate mousse for dessert and it was not great and hardly good. The poached egg was overcooked and the meat was sinewy and mostly fat. The mouse was days old at least and no longer presentable as mousse in my opinion. The bottom of the mousse cup had completely hardened. I have never even seen this happen with mousse before so who knows how long it was sitting before being served. The dessert was also overpriced - even if it had been fresh. DON'T Brunch here!

Both the fish tacos and the margherita pizza were good, and the pizza is a very good deal for $10. The decor is a little more upscale than I expected, and it had a pretty good Friday after work crowd. The server was nice and I would certainly go back for happy hour or dinner.

We had our son's wedding rehearsal dinner here and I just can't say enough about how great it all turned out. From the private room to the food and service. The menu planning, room set up, seating arrangements and timing were all offered and presented seamlessly and made making decisions a snap. The Hodson's food is absolutely delicious (compliments to the Chef!) and served hot and on time and the wait staff were friendly, accommodating, gracious and totally went the extra mile to meet the needs of a couple of our guests that have special gluten free diets. I love when that happens ~ a special thanks to you! We've been to Hodson's Centennial location many times but this was a first for their new downtown location and we loved it. Right in the heart of Denver made it easy for some of our out of town guests to walk to interesting sites nearby. One of my sons is a minister and has been doing weddings for 25 yrs and he rated this night in the top 2% best rehearsal dinner venues. How about that! Sincere thanks to each of you for making this important family celebration a hit! WD

This place is a half ass version of the YardHouse. Predictable menu that's WAY too expensive. The sushi is the worst I've had in my life- a huge salty over-seasoned rice ball with a 1/8" thick pc of tuna on top. 97% rice. I'm not exaggerating. The servers all look like they hate working here. Honestly contemplated a dine-and-dash because I felt ripped off.

Hodsons has good food, but just good. Like 5 out of 10 good. The atmosphere is very modern but in a cold, soullessly cheesy kind of way. The worst thing about Hodsons is its staff. I work in Denver Place, and I've been there probably 4-5 times, and every time I walk in, the hostess looks at me like I'm an alien and she has no idea what I might be doing there. They appear to screen out regular people in their hiring process in an attempt to only employee Space Cadets. The waitstaff is just as odd. While they have never been rude to me, I have been ignored, brought the wrong dish, had to flag down other servers to get my check, had the check screwed up (I had to straighten it out with my bank later) and wondered every time if I have wandered into a restaurant twilight zone. Even their take-out sucks - I called three times around 1pm on a week day to order lunch, and the phone rang and rang and was finally picked up by a voice mail that simply said the mailbox was full. WTH, Hodsons. I really can't stand that place. Totally not worth it.

From the website and menu, Hodsons seemed like they had a good selection and would be a great place for a date night. The location is not ideal, its in some sort of office building, so they don't even have a door to the street. The sports bar section takes up half of the this small restaurant, which greatly reduces the atmosphere of the restaurant side. For the higher price of the menu and drink items, I did not enjoy this half bar-half seating area vibe. The service was not great, pretty slow and our server did not seem very knowledgeable about the menu (not that big of a menu either...). Our cocktails were the quality of a drink half its price.. my blood orange margarita seemed obviously to be some syrupy mix, not at all fresh, and was actually warm at the bottom of the glass, had not been stirred well and definitely not shaken. The food was just okay, but surely not worth the price. The restrooms are actually not even in the restaurant, but in the lobby of this office building. Save yourself some money and disappointment and go anywhere else.

I hope they figure this out, because the patio is gorgeous and the food was yummy. Real shame

I love their happy hour. I live nearby and frequent this place after work. Great drinks at good prices. Happy hour food menu is a big plus too. The dinner menu is great, I've enjoyed everything I've tried. I recommend the short rib. Bartenders and servers are knowledgeable and friendly. I've had nothing but excellent service here.

That's saying something...right? ;)

One of the BEST happy hours downtown! AND it's from 3-7pm Monday thru Friday with great priced drinks and apps. We had the baked brie and yowza! FABULOUS! Super friendly bartender, cool ambiance, great food/drinks!

I wasn't impressed. The food was very ho-hum and the menu was unimpressive. Their happy hour is popular - lots of people and of course the drinks are plenty. I just won't be going back because there was nothing special about this place. The service wasn't even that great.

Came here while on vacation. . Saw all the bad reviews and was hesitant however I Think they had just changed the menu and our food was very good. I had chicken salad and he got the dip sandwich. . And all the food that I saw around me looked amazing. Nice presentation and taste... wish it was in California.

That was nice, as we were able to take advantage of it early in our dinner.

nice set up, large area.. great outdoor seating too. the day we visited happen to be the busy day with two waiters and large group to take care of. servers were polite but was slow due to this. the food we got for the price.. it was ok. good thing we had group on but still felt like we got cheated. its right across from John Elway and Ritz and i am sure there presence must influenced the pricing of this place.

I wasn't impressed. The food was very ho-hum and the menu was unimpressive. Their happy hour is popular - lots of people and of course the drinks are plenty. I just won't be going back because there was nothing special about this place. The service wasn't even that great.

Hodson's is my favorite spot to grab dinner downtown. The beer selection is great and the meat and potatoes flatbread might be the best "pizza" I've ever had. I've always had good service, and they know how to treat their regulars well.

That's saying something...right? ;)
