This was my daughter and my first time in Denver. We had read enough blogs to know south Broadway was a great place to visit so we planned to drive down and park and see what caught our eye. While we were looking at some of the restaurants we came across Gary lees and saw it had some good reviews so we drove down and we parked and heard thunder and decided to find a place quickly. and to our surprise we had parked right by this restaurant. It's a very cool garage setting. The waiters were helpful and beer choices from different local breweries as well as domestics. The menu isn't huge but sufficient lots of sandwiches appetizers to choose from we both got the pulled pork sandwich and I got sweet potatoes fries which were good and plentiful. She got regular fries which were also good. The sandwich came with your choice of four or five sauces. I had the Memphis and she had the Carolina. Very good. Would definitely go again.

Went to Gary Lee's on a Sunday afternoon for drinks and brunch. The draft beer and other drink selection was appropriate. The attention and speed from the waitstaff were also appropriate. Then there was the food. Kind of like a motorcycle accident... messy and unpleasant. The food came out quickly, but the eggs were cooked incorrectly, and there was a inadequate gravy/biscuit ratio. Further, my friend's breakfast potatoes were gleaming with oil and inadequate crispness. Because Gary Lee's strives to be a motor club, I think there are plenty of people that would really enjoy the spot due to ambiance alone, and if you are just going to grab a drink and check it out, I would say its worth a shot. Also, they have a dog hanging out there who is really cute. Just so... Meh. Came in with the girl for dinner, kind of a slow weekday evening. Maybe 10 other people total in the place. Bartender brought us drinks and a smile, but no waitress ever showed up. Bartender comes back around to take drink order, is on his way back when a waitress shows up, sees our drinks are taken care of, and never comes back by again. After waiting for fifteen minutes, I finally go up to the counter to order. Seems they were out of brisket (odd, because a half hour later, the table next to ours got a brisket meal), so I went with possibly the most bland meatloaf ever created. No flavor whatsoever, just meat on bread. Girl was pleased enough with her pork, but it wasn't anything special. Bland and mediocre food, seemingly confused and disorganized staff, and just an average meal at best. Not coming back.

Oh my...so much awful going on here. It's a shame, actually- I was looking forward to trying this place, the space/decor/theme is pretty awesome, so I had high hopes. Came here after a pretty intense day of being active so needless to say I was STARVING, hovering around HANGRY status. You don't want to see me hangry..it's not pretty. We didn't order anything fancy- I got the brisket sandwich while the rest of the group got a salad, some fries, and brussel sprouts. Easy enough you'd think, but we waited well over an hour for our food. I was pretty delirious and we were close to saying eff this and walking out over to Illegal Pete's next door. FINALLY the food comes, and I realize my bbq sandwich barely any sauce on it so I ask for extra. Little did I know this would cost anything extra nor did I think that ordering any of their sauces cost extra. It's only 50 cents, but they should put that clearly on the menu! And the fact that the guy charged me for bbq sauce that should have been on my sandwich in the first place. There was zero reason for our food to come out as slow as it did. the place was half empty. Get your act together, guys! I definitely WON'T be back.

One of the WORST dining experiences i have ever had...simply awful !!!!!.....From the moment that our waiter told us that the city shut down their smoker and could only serve us smaller portion ( no entrees ) I should have know this wasn't going to go well The service was so poor we had to actually go inside to the bar to get menus because nobody had brought them to us after sitting for 15 mins on the patio. When we were finally ready to order the waiter said, " we are outta beets so you cant order the beet salad ". ...ok...thank you ????? I ordered the smoked brisket sandwich with a memphis bbq sauce and my wife ordered tacos. The brisket did not even taste like it had been smoked.....more like boiled and the the sauce applied afterwards. Disgusting preparation and even worse presentation...the brisket on a bun that looked like it was from yesterday and it sitting on a dirty dinner plate. ( there was spots of whatever was served on the dish the last time it was used ).. and tasteless, as was the entire sandwich. I left half of it sitting on the plate. Along with the sandwich, i ordered the garlic mashed potatoes and gravy. When it arrived , the gravy had already congealed on top of the potatoes leaving it hard and crusty...are you kidding me ????? I cant even write anymore since i am so upset that we spent $40 for absolute crap !!!! Oh, and for those of you that like eating outdoors on the patio, you will have to share your experience with the dogs roaming around and coming up to your table ( that is such a nice touch ...OMG ) and the staff smoking with their friends/regulars(?) I cant see how this place can stay open unless it converts to only a bar. It was that bad !!!

I got to pick the restaurant this week for my regular lunch with the lady friend. We'd been here back in 2012 and she didn't like it at all and I was kind of neutral about it. But, it's really convenient for us and the place itself is kind of cool but it really is amateur hour. I think they must be surviving on a bar/late night crowd because the food and service at lunch were not impressive. I've met the owner and he seems like a nice guy and he did a great job with the re-model but I don't get the sense that he's all that interested in serving food or providing timely service - don't go for lunch if you only have an hour. There was only the bartender doing double duty that I could see but we were there a little later than the normal lunch crowd perhaps and it was s-l-o-w. Prices aren't too bad but your sides are extra. No rush to return.

The person who called this place 'a TGI Fridays for for wannabe Rockabilly greasers' is spot-on: I can't sum it up better than that. Hilariously, I didn't think people were even still doing the whole Rockabilly subculture thing post Hot Topic commodification in the 00's, but there were plenty of them to be found here. My main qualm with Gary Lee's is not the clientele, but the service - we sat and watched our food under the heat lamp for a full fifteen minutes while our server enjoyed a cigarette and a phone call on the front patio. Eventually, a flustered kitchen staff member brought out our plates. After that we did not see our waiter again, and instead two bar staff came over to fill our drinks and bring the check - which took asking twice and twenty minutes. The food was in line with the TGI Fridays comment above - the meats were not smoked and seemed like they'd been baked in the oven. The brisket was tough and flavourless and the sides were nothing special (particularly the pickles which tasted of nothing more than white vinegar - bland). The waitstaff and bar staff seemed completely overwhelmed despite the fact that the place wasn't at full capacity - so I'm not sure if it's a case of being understaffed or having lazy servers, but whatever the reason, this isn't a place I'd come back to - you can find far better, 'real' BBQ in Denver - this isn't it.

Terrible experience. I've been a fan of this place since it opened. But I haven't been there in about eight months. Decided to try it for brunch last Sunday. Our experience was sub par at best. There was one server handling the entire restaurant. He was confused, inefficient, and downright unfriendly. When our food finally arrived, the order was incorrect. But the server ran off, and there was a long wait before he returned and finally took our order back to the kitchen. Then, another long wait waiting for a replacement. And another long wait after asking for some utensils. The owner finally came around asking tables about their experience. We told him it was disappointing. He then offered to comp our meals. That was appreciated, but here is the kicker...we were given a check... There was no food charge on the check... But we were charged for our two soft drinks. Really? You offer to comp our meals and charge us for soft drinks? Not classy at all, even for a restaurant like this. It was a very cheap move that only added to the sour taste already in our mouths.

I came in a few nights ago for drinks with my roommate. We got to chatting with the bartender, Allister, who was friendly and attentive. The drinks were very fairly priced, I think $4 for good draft beer. Allister also told us about their bottomless mimosa brunch on weekends, so naturally I got a group of friends together for brunch on Saturday. We came in, and Aaron and Gina took great care of us. The brunch menu isn't extensive, but the four of us all found something we liked. I ordered the butternut squash hash with Brussels sprouts, onions, ham and eggs. Delicious! My friends ordered the eggs Benedict with a jalapeno hollandaise sauce, the breakfast burrito smothered in pork green chili, and the brisket red chili. All of the dishes were amazing! Plus, the best brunch I can remember, plus the bottomless mimosa came in under $20, which was a nice surprise. The atmosphere is great, the music is awesome, and the service is very friendly. I think I found my new brunch joint!

Gary's is a great spot if you love beer, cocktails, motorcycles, cars, good food and rock n roll. Everyone is super friendly and the food is great. I pretty much grew up under a car and really liked the ambiance of being in a chill industrial garage with awesome food and beer. This place is a must if you like to have a good time.

My husband and I stopped in tonight for a beer and ended up trying the brisket chili and pulled pork street tacos. Brisket chili is superb - tender and nothing but meat, scallions and sauce/broth that was perfect. Husband had the pulled pork street taco and loved it. They had some some good beer selections - Chainbreaker, Rogue Deadguy Ale, Tank 7, Upslope, Breckenridge Vanilla porter. The bartenders were friendly. Definitely will be back for another tasting.

Brunch here was fun. Prefect for a holiday girlfriends brunch without any wait. We had a group of 6 and they were very attentive. Food was good so was the bottomless mimosas.We had a vegan with us and they worked with us to make a breakfast burrito. It was so good we suggested that they add it to the menu. Our whole group would love to visit this place again.

Good BBQ according to my dinner-mates but nothing spectacular. I'm not much of a meat-eater but their side dishes are good - collard greens and Brussel sprouts! Yum! I went on a weekend night and it was busy. They have a big patio with lots of tables, as well as benches for people who just want to drink. The patio was full so I ate inside - it's an open air place where garage doors open up to let in a breeze. It was LOUD LOUD in there. My ears are ringing just thinking about it. The decor and vibe is definitely South-Boradway-cool. I dig it. Next time I go, I'll hold out for a patio seat.

Gary Lee's is a nice place, but it just doesn't wow me. I keep thinking I will like it more than I actually do. I don't dislike it, but I'm not raving about it. We had a better experience the 2nd time around, as it was a lot smaller and our server was on top of our small group and keep the orders flowing without an issue. The second time we were there for HH and I didn't see the specials until after I ordered (my bad), but I ordered a drink, which was good, but not part of Happy Hour. My bbq brisket sandwich was ok, but I wasn't overly enthused by it. The sweet potato fries were pretty good. The first time was a birthday party that was shortly after they opened. It was a shit show and the server never came around to take orders and I had to go to the bar to place an order for food/drinks. At the end of the night as people left and paid their bill, the bill was never adjusted and there was a huge amount left on the bill at the end of the night. I don't know that I will be back anytime soon. I think 2 tries is enough.

This is a TGI Fridays for for wanna be Rockabilly greasers. I heard two Sublime songs and stared at my cold, stale coffee while I waited for my cold breakfast. Skip this place, seriously. EDIT: I found out later that day that Gary Lee's kitchen had a fire and was closed for a while. We were getting brunch right after they reopened. So my first review, while accurate, may not be indicative of this place. The servers were dicks to us and the coffee and food was cold but maybe I shouldn't write it off... I'll try again when they are having a better day.

I am going to be 100% honest. The BBQ is not bad, it's actually on the better end of most BBQ joints I've been to. Unfortunately the service was heinous and ruined the overall experience. There's a lot places you can go and spend your money on dinner. I wouldn't waste your money on this one.

Perfect place to pony up to the bar and enjoy a cold one by yourself or with friends after work or before a night out. Huge patio space, clean and fun biker themed interior, very friendly staff(they come with handle bar mustaches :). Huge selection of beer an full bar! At first glance the bar food looked a bit iffy but I'm told looks are deceiving and it was all actually delicious! I'll give it a sample next time.

I think this is a great spot for drinks! I could take or leave the food. The menu had lots of options, but my picks weren't my favorite. Our first visit was a bit of an anomaly. We had Dave's birthday celebration here a couple of years ago. Our server asked us to order at the table (not the bar) and proceeded to have a bit of a service meltdown. Drinks were taking close to an hour to receive (whereas those who went against her advice and ordered at the bar got theirs right away) and the final bill was all on one tab after several people settled up separately (but were still on the tab). I ended up paying the balance which was waaaaay more than the drink an hour average would have suggested. But, I liked the overall gas station/auto shop aesthetic and the idea of Gary Lee's so I suggested it for a recent happy hour with a former coworker. Tuesday night and not part of a big group is the way to go. We received excellent service from the ultra personable bartender and my cucumber gin cocktail was delicious. They also have Rogue's Dead Guy on tap. We shared the fried avocado and brussels and neither were my favorite. The batter on the fried avocado could have used some kind of seasoning and the brussels (which come mixed with spaghetti squash) were a bit mushy for my liking (but I liked the flavor). But if you're in need of a couple of after work drinks, Gary Lee's is your place. It's also an easy walk from the Alameda light rail station if public transit is your thing.

Chose the pulled pork they were out of that. Server did not know the menu so I just ended up getting something custom that I didnt want. Wont be back.

Enjoyed a steak sandwich today. It was early and I was the only table. Food was okay....no steak sauce to eat on the sandwich. Service was not good however when she did come by she was friendly. Cool atmosphere but I won't worry about heading back anytime soon.

A friend and I hike on the weekend and head to a different restaurant each time for bottomless mimosas. This place was on our list so we stopped after Mt Morrison. The patio and ambiance are cute, very hipster rockabilly. The staff fit the style to a T, but unfortunately I think we may have interpreted the rockabilly character as just plain bad service. We didn't really "match" their other clientele, but they weren't too terribly busy so it was strange that we weren't taken care of a little more. I will say that their bottomless mimosas are a DEAL. Huge wine glass (not champagne) filled for both of us AND a full carafe to keep us going. That's probably the best deal we've found in Denver yet. The food was good, although I asked for jam for my toast and she told me they were OUT. Isn't there a grocery store down the street or something? Lol anyway, pretty inexpensive, probably a great nighttime hangout, but beware of feeling out of place (if that sort of thing gets to you). Make sure to see the bathrooms, sounds silly but they're super creative and kudos for cloth towels!

Decent bar, aggressively bad restaurant. The chili street tacos are decent, as is their sausage. That is where the decent ends and the terrible begins. Their meatloaf seems to be cut before being smoked on the grill. The result is a charred mess that leaves an over smoked and acrid taste in your mouth. Almost inedible and I eat everything usually. The pulled pork someone else ordered was also chewy and bland. Then there are the sides. The worst offenders on this gastronomic death row. To be fair the mashed potatoes are decent, in large part because of a substantial amount of cheese. The Brussels sprouts are over done and under seasoned. Easily the worst side however is the Cole Slaw. I like salads and slaws lightly dressed but the dressing was applied with an eye dropper and a careful hand. The resulting Slaw is dry and completely devoid of flavor. Don't get the wrong impression, I like BBQ, but I am not being a BBQ snob here. This is just bad food no matter how you label it. The final drink straw that broke the server's back was that the servers seem to know the food is bad aside from a few items and don't care. The service itself is OK for the most part but there are some long ten to fifteen minute periods when there is no service at all. Gary Lee's Motor Club and... Well, let's just leave it at that as they should have when they opened the place.

I went to Gary Lee's for a late night snack after a beer festival. What better to help soak up some beer than BBQ, right? The place is really cool, with a retro garage look and rockabilly tunes setting the mood. The beer selection is also pretty good, though we had our fill and didn't partake. I had the pulled pork sandwich with Memphis BBQ sauce caramelized brussel sprouts on the side. The sandwich was good, though the sauce was a little too spicy for my taste. The brussel spouts were delicious! Hubby had the Smoked Meatloaf with mashed potatoes. It wasn't your momma's meatloaf, as this one had a smoky BBQ flavor that was really unique and tasty. The mashed potatoes were so good that I found my fork constantly migrating over to his plate. Yum! All it was a tasty dinner, though for local BBQ I still personally tend to prefer Moe's down the road. Still, with lots of other great looking items on the menu I'm sure we'll be back again.

Great beer, good food, rude bartenders. Went in last night with a group of friends, trying to find a spot with outdoor seating, food, and semi-away from the Saint Paddy's Day madness. The patio is awesome and the place wasn't packed at all, so we went in to order drinks and food. The bartender was condescinding and impatient pretty much from the get go. I understand that it probably sucks to have a ton of drunk customers blabbering away on a day like yesterday, but my friends and I were far from wasted. The food that we ordered was overall pretty good. I loved the chicken wings and the burger, only complaint here is that the poppers were a bit too salty. But the bartenders, one male and one female, were rude all night! I felt likes was inconveniencing them everytime I odered a beer. Still tipped 20%, but won't be back.

I would come back tomorrow. The jalapeños with prosciutto were incredible and the beef brisket sandwich with chilula hot BBQ sauce was amazing. I grew up going to pig roasts in machine shops back east and this was pure nostalgia for me. I've already told a dozen people about it. Next time I'm In Denver I'll be going back to Gary Lee's for sure.

I have visited Gary Lee's on 3 occasions, the first time I just had cocktails and the bartenders were extremely nice the 2 gentlemen were very accommodating then I went back and had the brisket chili tacos and found them to be very odd and not my cup of tea and notice the service was not so friendly this round, Last time I went I tried the other type of tacos (pulled pork) thought for sure this would be up my alley and my friends tried the wings, the prosciutto wrapped poppers and the fried avocado none of us were happy but the two that ate the wings ended up getting food poisoning! This time again the wait staff was not very friendly at all, we have decided to no longer give this place a try ;(

I can't speak for the food because we didn't even eat. The ABSOLUTE WORST SERVICE I've ever experienced. This was last Saturday, the night of the big fight. We wanted to grab a quick bite and drinks. Walking into the place, I asked the waiter if we could seat ourselves. This guy, light hair, short guy, seemed instantly annoyed at our presence. I think he said yes, but he turned around so fast I'm not sure. We sat out on the patio and the place was maybe at a fourth its capacity at best. The waiter brings us menus and my husband asked what beer they had on tap. (Is this not a very common question for a bar/restaurant ?!) The server does not even look at my husband, drops the menus on the table and says "I'll get you the drink menu". That's it. Just walks away. The guy acted like we were really bothering him by, you know, asking a simple question. We stood up and walked away. We are new to the neighborhood and really thought this could be one of our go-too watering holes and eateries. The place has a great patio and we love throwing back drinks on summer nights on a good patio. I just don't get how a person in the service industry can come off being such an asshole and the place stays in business. Maybe they have decent food. We will never give it a second chance. By the way, we went to Atomic Cowboy, had excellent service, a few rounds of drinks, and great dinner. You should go there for excellent service and food.

Decided to check this place out after reading the reviews. It was an okay experience. The brussels sprouts were not as good as I was hoping. It was pretty flavorless. The smoked poppers just tasted like smoke. Way, way, way too smoky tasting. The gin cocktails were pretty decent, even though my second drink order got mixed up and I ended up with an interesting flavored gin beverage. I do like that they have a nice outside patio and their bathrooms are clean and well-stocked. However, service is slow and parking sucks. Also, the high tops inside need to be fixed. Holy wibbly wobbly! I was afraid to set my drink on it on the off-chance the table got bumped. It was so wobbly, it wouldn't take much to knock the table over.

Even though we were both under the weather, both my husband and I had an enjoyable meal here. The atmosphere is about as cute as can be; it actually looks and feels like you are in a garage. The ladies room is worth checking out (i am inferring that the men's is the same), but I won't spoil the surprise. I had the brisket chili and it was meaty, rich and filling. My husband had the deconstructed burrito and there was not a bite left by the end. We finished with the cherry pie and it was scrumptious, served a la mode. On top of great food, the service was great. We'll be back for more!

I didn't love it as much as I expected to given all the great reviews. I had the pulled pork sandwich. I've had better. It wasn't bad; it just wasn't particularly good. The house fries, on the other hand, were delish. A friend got the wings, and they were not crispy enough. Another friend seemed to like the pulled pork sandwich better than I did, but thought the Brussels sprouts were meh.

The barbecue is just average. When I got there and asked the bartender what beers they had all he said was "just what we have on tap & the bottles on the wall there" He seemed bothered by the fact that I was even asking. He was indifferent and kind of the tool. The smoked brisket "meal" was just brisket with the meager dab of sauce tossed on it. With just one side of caramelized brussels sprouts that were under done. The prices on the menu were wrong and I had to point that out so he corrected the price begrudgingly. For what you get I think even the corrected price is overpriced and I won't be coming back.

It's a little hard to spot from Broadway because it's set back from the street. They'll be getting a very cool-sounding new sign soon, which should solve that problem. Very cool interior. If you sit at the table tops near the bar, the bartender will come over and take your food and drink orders. Great service. Cholula hot wings: Good. Definite kick. Spiced Thai wings: Also good. Not as much of a kick as the Cholula hot wings. The wings come with carrot and celery sticks, along with your choice of dips. The honey mustard is really good, with a strong mustard flavor. The ranch dip has fresh dill in it. Brussels sprouts with spaghetti squash: Good. I like that combination and will try to replicate it at home. Fried avocado, which comes with your choice of dip. The breading was heavier and darker than I was expecting, so I laughed at the way the avocado slices looked (you can probably imagine what slices of avocado in a thick, dark-colored breading look like), but they were tasty, especially with the roasted pepper dip. Mint cherry limeade: Really good and refreshing.

2012 Review #275: We don't do exceptionally well when trying to eat on our "dating anniversary". Last year was the forget and regrettable Prohibition. This year was better at Gary Lee's. I think Gary Lee's wants to be a restaurant/bar, but I think it's just a bar. With food. Interesting cocktail list ; bipolar beer list (Pacifico is $6, Odell IPA is $4). Our waitress took a while to take our drink order, then left, even though we knew our food order. For food we got the smoked chicken dip, pulled pork sandwich, and portobello sandwich. The chicken dip was more like chicken spread. When I hear chicken dip I assume it's going to be hot, like buffalo chicken dip. This was very cold chicken spread, the consistency of cold cream cheese. It was supposed to be served with "veggies and crackers" which translated to: 5 carrot sticks, 7 celery sticks, 5-6 seeded cucumber halves, and 10 Ritz crackers. For $7 we got maybe $2 worth of product? Also, in what world can a tiny half-cucumber stand up to cold chicken? And Ritz crackers? Seriously? Buy Stacey's and charge an extra dollar for God's sake. Honestly, they should take this off the menu, call the spread chicken salad and make it a sandwich. It'd make more money and be more satisfying. Husband's pork was OK- tasted just sauce. Fries were excellent- some of my favorite ever. My portobello sandwich and Brussels sprouts side were OK. Both had this weird flavor of......fuel? Propane? Cooking implement? It was weird. The Brussels sprouts/spaghetti squash were much better than the sandwich. I was anticipating a big portobello cap but it was more like strips. Granted we were here on a Monday but it felt more like a bar than a place to eat. The owner was drinking/eating at the bar along with other on-the-clock employees which struck me as a bit unprofessional. I won't come running back unless its for fries or some awesome specials, but it wasn't a bad experience at all.

First of all, deconstructed breakfast burritos? Get off me. And yes, I'll have one. You see, for a person like me that likes to craft the "perfect bite" a deconstructed burrito allows me to enjoy one of my favorite breakfast items made just the way I like it. You get eggs, a tortilla, potatoes (that look like scalloped potatoes, but taste like hashbrowns), green chile, and I paid a little extra for pulled pork. Second of all, bottomless mimosas for $9? Yes, please. Even better I didn't order the bottomless option first and when I ordered a second, the server let me know that bottomless was the cheaper option (it's $5 for a single) and that she would just ring me up for that so if I wanted any more they'd be part of that cost. Saving me money and giving me more booze? I like it! Our server was super, super awesome. I was here for a lazy brunch with a good friend and I never felt rushed nor forgotten about. And the design/decor of Gary Lee's is awesome. Even the bathrooms are cooler than cool. I'll definitely be back from brunch and I look forward to trying other meals here as well, or even just hanging out for drinks with friends.

We stopped in the other night to catch part of Zina's birthday, wish her a happy, B-Day and grab drink. My Moscow Mules were light on the ginger flavor and heavy on the lime. They were arctic-cold in the copper mug and were quick to numb the lips. Although they seemed a bit weak, they packed a punch and two of them were enough to slur my speech. We also enjoyed a side of the brussels sprouts (I know, that is an odd snack to go with Moscow Mules, but you had to be there at the time). They were pretty decent, with nice flavor. The addition of sauteed spaghetti squash added a nice textural contrast. Service was very good. The internal set up seems to encourage people to stand so as to block any convenient walking path through the bar. Tip: It is only a few minutes walk from here to Sweet Action.

It's easy to miss this place. Only when I was designing a restaurant map for South Broadway did I discover Gary Lee's. Tucked back from Broadway, it's hard to notice this place when focused on the busy traffic. Last week, I inadvertently visited during a Baker Neighborhood party. Seemed like a good time, but I had other things to do. Later that week, I was in the neighborhood again with a starving guest and time to kill. We seated ourselves and starting cheering the San Diego Chargers. Sorry, Broncos fans, but I thoroughly enjoyed watching the lose. In the meantime, I ordered the meatloaf with Memphis BBQ sauce and brussel sprouts. It was solid, but the sauce was compensating for taste and dryness. This was most prominent when I finished the top piece. The bottom piece barely had any sauce and the taste difference was quite noticeable. One other thing. That night's live musician was LOUD, so choose your seats carefully if you want to have conversation or keep your hearing.

I really want to love Gary Lee's for the following reasons: 1. The location is stellar! GL's sits just off of Broadway on Cedar. Broadway is perhaps my favorite area in Denver and GL's fits in so well! It's certainly a welcome addition to an already awesome neighborhood. And everyone else and their dog agrees: this place was packed to the gills last Friday night! 2. The food is delicious! I tried the street tacos during my last visit and loved them! So much flavor and for a great price. 3. The drinks! Aside from your standard local beers like Agave Wheat and Mama's Little Yella Pills, you'll also find a long list of cool mixed drinks like their Moscow Mule, which was quite tasty. 4. The concept! I really dig the industrial interior as well as the patio. It's fabulous for warm summer nights and I can see some good times being had here during the cold winter. Unfortunately, there is one glaring thing that has caused me to lower my review to three stars: 1. The service. Yes, I realize GL's is wet behind the ears and still learning to walk, but with such an explosion in popularity, I'd hope for a better waitstaff. Perhaps I'm being too harsh, but waiting for 15 minutes to get a server's attention to order drinks is way too long. Perhaps GL's needs to hire a few more servers for the busy evenings? That being said, everyone working here has been terribly lovely and friendly. In any case, I want GL's to be one of my new favorite places, but until service improves, my visits won't be too frequent. I'll be crossing my fingers, Gary Lee's!

The design is fantastic. Even the bathrooms are a work of art. The indoor outdoor seating is nice. Even with the hot patio sun, the seats directly inside the door were cool. The specialty drinks are so cool and so refreshing. Some great original mixtures. I am beginning to really enjoy gin. Thank you Gary Lee. The food items are original and tasty. The smoke flavor is mouth watering goodness. I tried a variety of items and each was distinct and cooked perfectly. I generally do not like sweet potato fries - they seem like an annoying trend, but these were salted perfectly and very flavorful - served with a sauce that I could have drank alone. The bacon wrapped poppers are now wrapped in prosciutto, and were F'ng hot. I never think restaurants serve peppers to the n'th degree of hotness, but these were throat burning, followed by the squeeze of a lime from the bartender with a short lesson on the scientific reason limes bring the heat down in your mouth. Talk about hard work paying off. This is one man's dream and it is a gift to the rest of Denver. Well played Gary Lee, well played!!

This place is delightful. First, the atmosphere. Its so much fun! the garage doors, and clipboard menus and concrete floors really feel like a garage, as it used to be. Its clean enough to eat off the floor or table, so its not freaky, just fun. Plus there are the oldtimey side mirrors in the bathroom, just FUN!! They have handcrafted cocktails, which I love. I had the cucumber thingy, which was YUM. I really want to try the peachy lavendar thing, too. The food is pretty basic, with fancy aioli's. I had the ribeye sandwich, and my daughters had sandwiches as well. I do wish the club had more stuff, but my other daughters blat was perfect. Its all sandwichy food, that is a little fancy, but not so good you think oh I must go back to try the ___. The tiny fries were yum. I did not like that ketsup, as it seemed like pizza or tomato sauce: wierd, but not it a good way. I liked it enough to def go back, but for the drinks. They need a better app list, and a happier hour. THis place will be great in the summer on thier hipster modern patio. I actually DO have to go back, just for the lavendar peach drink.

We dropped into Gary Lee's for brunch on Saturday. We've been there three times over the last 3 months. One thing has been consistent good food, good drinks and slow or even uncaring service, like its an inconvenience to have customers come in. This Saturday was the absolute worse, we were one if only 2 tables in the whole place occupied and we waited 10 minutes to be greeted and another 5 minutes to take an order with the comment "I was busy with other tables" what a joke. The food came 15 minutes later and sat on the warming shelf for 5 minutes while the server talked to the bartender. It seems like a bad trend starting that the owner needs to address.

The greens were "ok" but too much meat and not enough greens. Fries have been great each time though. Love the atmosphere of the place but this last meal made me wonder if I'll come back.

I really wanted to like this place. A casual barbecue joint on Broadway? Sounds killer. However, It was all in all terrible when I went there. The Good The service was friendly, but understaffed. When they came by the table the servers were talkative, happy, and seemed excited about the food. However, they seemed to be panicked about trying to cover all the tables they were trying to cover. The Bad Basically, the food. The brisket chili street tacos (extremely recommended) were alright. No acidity, no spice, but the overall flavor was okay. On to the entrees! Terrible! The pulled pork was dry and bland, the sausage was pretty standard for any bbq joint, and the meat loaf tasted like last night's overcooked leftover well done burger doused in liquid smoke. The meat loaf was literally inedible. I was given about 3 bites off a friend's plate and I could barely consume 1. Someone thought putting 1/2 inch slices of meat loaf in a smoker for hours was a good idea, but the result is truly revolting. The sides were so lazily done that I can only imagine the cook that slapped them together. The cole slaw was bone dry cabbage. I actually like the taste of raw cabbage, but not when I pay for it is as a side. The "crispy" brussel sprouts were tepid sauteed veg that were neither crispy nor flavorful. All in all, if my black out drunk friend served me this I'd still say it was just okay. The only reason it's 2 stars is because the servers were enthusiastic, and frankly, they don't deserve to work at a restaurant that gets 1 star. To the servers, run! Run as fast as you can! Don't be associated with this slop that you're serving your customers!

Darn good. Very affordable. Friendly staff. Pie. Pie. Pie. Smoked meats. These are the words that immediately come to mind when thinking of our meal at Gary Lee's the other night. I enjoyed the open face smoked chicken sandwich. It was just what I was in the mood for. It wasn't the traditional dish but it was just as good. The chicken was wonderful with the smokey flavor. I loved the mashed potatoes and wished there was more on the sandwich. I expected them to be served on the side but they were actually under the piles of chicken. The gravy was thick and tied the meal together. I only ate the bottom of the buttered and toasted bun because it was just a bit too much for me. For my side I chose the sauteed brussels as did my mom. They were a hit. The brussels had a crunchy texture and a strong hit of black pepper that left a sting on your lips. The also had spaghetti squash throughout. I will forever order these because I know we'll be back. My mom and the hubs both had brisket and they loved it. I want to try the smoked meatloaf. For dessert, which I usually don't do, I enjoyed almost every bite of fresh peach pie. I felt like a jerk asking if the pie were fresh, but I've been dooped too many times by canned fruit pie with copious amounts of that goop that had been frozen for days-gross. The server said he understood why I asked and assured me the pies were baked fresh daily and were made from scratch with fresh fruit. Indeed it was. This compares to my grandma's pie and that's practically impossible! Comfort food from beginning to end! As we were walking out my husband said "I love the smell of smoked meats in the air, I'm so glad you brought me to a place with smoked meats!" I think we found a place that we can afford and both completely enjoy.

I've known Gary Lee for years, back when he used to bartend at the Skylark. Back when the skylark had a fun carefree rockabilly group. The skylark has drastically changed through the years due to the inflection of a different crowd. And I knew that Gary Lee was in the works on opening a bar and when I heard that he finally had opened his own place I decided to come on a Saturday night and it was amazing! They had a live rockabilly band, the crowd was all drunk and having a great time. It really reminded me of the good old days back before "scenesters" started showing up and shit talking everyone cause their lives were so miserable. I didn't see any of that at Gary Lees, it's just good people, having a good time. This place is fastly becoming my new favorite place to rock out on the weekends. :) Great job Gary Lee!

Gary Lee's is my new fave HH spot. It's got a cool, laid back decor and staff, a great menu, and nice happy hour specials. Very nice beer selection, and the cocktail menu was unique and yummy sounding. The music was a tad loud but my pals and I didn't have too much trouble talking over it. Also, it wasn't too crowded (Tuesday after work), which is a big bonus, although probably not in the owners' eyes. We didn't try much food, just the brussel sprouts and sweet potato fries. Both were excellent! The brussels were quite tasty with a hint of pepper, and the sweet potato fries were awesome because they were (a) not too salty, and (b) not too greasy. They really were just right. We'll be back here again and again!

I'm cool. Right? Well...I think I'm cool. On second thought, maybe thinking oneself is cool, means you're not cool at all? Coolness has never been anything I thought much about until I went to Gary Lee's. Gary Lee's IS cool. Gary Lee exudes cool. Am I cool enough to be here? "Act cool J...act cool." I started with the fried avocados paired with toffee bacon aioli and the smoked chicken wings. The wings were amazing. They reminded me of my favorite wings in Colorado at Oskar Blue's. Lucky for me, G.Lee's isn't 45mins away in Longmont. Next up: BBQ. Not cool. Oposite of cool. Hot...smokin'! Rather: SMOKED. Delicious! Brisket, pork, chicken...all cooked perfect! I can't wait to come back. So many great looking and creative dishes to choose from. Very cool.

S. Broadway's next hot spot! Set back off Broadway, with a patio, the inside is modern and comfortable. It is a great place to hang out for drinks, but we were there for the food: The Fried Avocado with Basil Bleu Cheese dip was excellent. The special order Portabella Mushroom tacos was much better than it would seem! The Brisket with the Carolina Gold sauce was so good, it felt like it was melting in my mouth! The House Coleslaw was fresh and crispy, a perfect complement for the brisket. Bonus: Gary Lee was the one who waited on us! Thanks, we'll be back!

Unimpressed. Our main goal was to get some grub, seemed promising since it has the word Grub in the name. When we walked in I was confused whether or not we seat ourselves, there was no one there and no sign... but alas we were finally greeted, it must have been the awkward standing there for 10 minutes confuses look, that hinted to them maybe these guys need some attention. The server came by and got us menus, and then disappeared for about 15 minutes, which felt like forever since I was starving and picked the first thing on the menu that looked good. The food was meh. I ordered the open faced chicken sandwich that was described to come with mashed potatoes and gravy, with a side of the cider braised collards. My sandwich had shredded pieces of their smoked chicken, which was dried, and small slather of mashed potatoes on a bun. Since my sandwich was dry, I assumed they forgot to put on the gravy. The BF had a really chewy steak sandwich and fries. I most likely won't be coming back here for the food.

Gary Lee's for brunch? Of course. I'm an omelet fan and they do their right, you'd be surprised how many places can't make eggs so this isn't a basic statement for me. More importantly, the house potatoes are amazing. Scalloped potatoes but crispy like a chip. So damn yummy.

Love it. Gary Lee's has only been open for a couple of months now, and I find myself there more often than I had expected. The food is DELICIOUS. I hadn't expected that at all! It reminds me of Stubens in a down-home kind of way, but with much more creativity. And the quality can't be beat. The pulled pork sandwich, the brussel sprouts, the chicken wings, the sausage.... all so yummy. Whenever possible, meat-based items seem to have been smoked. Smoked chicken wings? Fantastic. There are plenty of well lit areas to sit down and enjoy dinner. Prices were very reasonable, $10-$15 for dinner items. Bar-wise, it has a dive bar feel, with fun hubcaps on the wall and other motor-type things integrated into the beer spouts etc. You can tell Gary Lee put a lot of love and care into this place. They also have a patio that is perfect for our hot Denver nights and well behaved pups are welcome out there. I highly recommend giving this place a whirl - and have dinner!!!!

I came back here for lunch today and still enjoy the food and overall experience, but have to echo the complaints about the food service. A 30-minute wait in an otherwise empty dining room is far too long. Kitchen staff needs to be bumped up or processes need to be improved. I can't imagine how long it would have taken if the place had been packed. Other than that, I enjoyed the sausage sampler (with the exception of the tacky Ritz crackers that accompanied them) and the brisket taco was really good.

LOVE IT! My new local on a long list of locals! Sigh, I love West Washington Park! What isn't to love? Great food, great atmsphere (all retro and hip) and Gary Lee. Totally the coolest guy around. He was an art major in college (I KNOW!) and knows who the Venus of Willendorf is - OK, seriously, art people know art people, instant bond. Scott the barkeep is awesome too! Awesome food, everytime we have been in it is fantastic. Try the sausage sampler platter - OMG - MEAT deliciousness! The bathrooms are cool and there are shop towels instead of paper towels - totally cool. The music - geesh, don't make plans, you will just want to sit and listen to the tunes! The first two times we were there service was a little off but I attribute that it being a new place (hey hip-waitress type, turn off the cell phone and bring me my beer!) What Gary Lee has done to this run down property is amazing - our neighborhood is better for his blood, sweat and tears. Long live the small business and long live Gary Lees!!

Gary Lee took a run down building, and made it a work of art. He built the bar from the ground up, using repurposed materials from rail yards and engines. The beer taps alone are a reason to come in and check this place out! Beyond the ambiance is the quality of drink, food, and service. I had a long island iced tea which was of course perfect, and a few appetizers. The chicken wings have a great smoky taste and fall off the bone - there is a choice of sauces. The sweet potato fries came with a bacon- something sauce that was really great. I can't wait to try more. Gary Lee put his heart and soul into this incredible restaurant and it shows in every detail. Go in TODAY and support him!

Gary Lee's Motor Club is a well done homage to the wrench-turning profession and to the history of grease and oil covered garages of yesteryear. The atmosphere is fun and relaxed and the decor is, in a word, inspired. The amount of detail that was put into making this place what it is (visually) is incredible. The lights over the bar are modified piston heads, the bathrooms are like old steel plated washrooms (complete with grease rags in place of a hand dryer or paper towels), and the staff is a mishmash of biker-punk-trucker folks who really do their best to make you feel at home; they are genuinely happy that you're there and they recognize how valuable each and every person is to their success as a new bar (just under a year) in town. The food is two steps above bar food, and I mean that in a good way. Southern cooking like pulled pork (fantastic by the way), and creative comfort foods like the chicken, mashed potato, and gravy sandwich, will do more than satisfy your hunger. I don't know about bottled beers but they had about 12 taps most of which were pulling local brews and all of which (at least the ones I had) were great. Gary's is set back a bit from the street, so be sure not to miss it. Though, once Gary puts up his new, beautiful, classic 50's neon signage, I doubt you'll be passing the place by. I ate at Gary's for the first time last night and I can't think of one good reason I wouldn't go back there weekly. Great food, great atmosphere, great people, and live music. Gary's is probably the best bar I've been to Denver. Check it out!

Slow to acknowledge folks, slow to get another round of drinks, just not very good at all. Still, it's a fixable problem, and I'm confident they'll get it right. We are happy to have another awesome and unique spot in the South Broadway neighborhood. We stopped by on Friday night, the week after they opened, and it was packed! One of the bartenders seated us and let us know that they weren't expecting to be so busy. It was clear that they were still working things out, however, he ended up taking great care of us and treated the restaurant like it was his own. The food was great and the prices are really reasonable. You can tell they really care and have focused on the details. We are excited to have another great, friendly, well done, place in our neighborhood.

Possibly one of the best cuban sandwiches I've ever had, but the service was slooooww and ruined the overall experience. They need a mechanic to fix their service problems. What should have been a quick lunch was a 30 minute wait for food when there was only one other table. Sausages and dipping sauces were great, but they need to dump the Ritz crackers and use some decent cheeses, sliced appropriately and arranged more attractively.

Gary Lees is another strong entry into the South Broadway restaurant lineup. Service and atmosphere are both laid-back and comfortable. The drinks were very tasty, especially the lavendar-whatsit. The food was solid across the board, though maybe not particularly ambitious. No ring molds here. When the garage door is open the dining room can get a little smokey from those on the patio. This place is lovely to look at, attracts a great crowd, but has two serious problems: 1. Service 2. Food Sorry, but after two disappointing visits, I would feel foolish going back. My most recent meal was microwaved -- the plate wasn't hot except for where the food sat -- very disappointing. It took much too long and the service was inattentive.

We went for birthday brunch around opening time on Saturday 1/26. The food was pretty good. In fact, on that alone, I will be back (and may change my rating--if the other problems do not exist). The decor is fun and welcoming. The service was excellent. Even though she was busy, the female bartender (Elizabeth?) kept up with us (and for brunch, with a bottomless mimosa, there was some keeping up to do!). The mimosa was perfect. Some places the ratios are off, but GL's was spot on. So, service, and food are great. What was the problem? One of the other bartenders, who mayhaps had not started his shift, was sitting at the bar surfing the web on his laptop while his two unruly children were running amok. They were crawling along on the floor between the bar patrons legs and the bar, then they were behind the bar bothering the bartender (who kept trying to remind them to stay in front of the bar), then they were sitting at the bar (after crawling on the floor), then they were chasing each other around the bar. Not very professional, and not making me very happy for a Saturday morning brunch. Finally, the mother comes in but things don't change. When I get grabbed again by the child under my seat, I ask her if they belong to her, and she became very indignant and notified me that "she just got there." Not cool. I am putting this whole story in my review should the owner be monitoring, and mayhaps he would like to have a talk toward the professionalism of his staff (and their children, and their wives). The children were fine after I spoke to the mother. Anyway, the food was delicious. I had the deconstructed breakfast burrito, which was not what I had imagined, and so much better because of it. I suspected this would be just a burrito bowl and the tortilla on the side. Eggs were cooked however you wished. The potatoes were sliced thick and fried. Very tasty. The green chili was yum. We will be visiting this week from The Office and see what a lunch service has in store.

A bbq restaurant/ rockabilly bar on Broadway is a genius idea. Pulled pork and Johnny Cash? Yes, please. The decor was awesome and the food was solid. I'm a fan of anywhere that serves smoked hot wings, and smoked hot wings with Carolina Gold bbq is, like the restaurant itself, genius. The collard greens were tasty and the pulled pork sandwich was terrific. I stuck with the Carolina Gold, but I would like to try the other sauces. My friend had the chili, which I can certainly picture craving after a long day on the slopes. Where Gary Lee's lost me a little was the service. Our server was really nice, but we did receive the hot wings at the same time as the rest of the food, not before hand. Receiving an appetizer with a meal is a pet peeve of mine. This is an establishment has a very bright future ahead of it- I look forward to eating there again!

I'm not really into the whole motor theme and whatnot, but this place has good food and I've always had quick service with drinks. They smoke their own meat and their breakfast options are awesome. Mostly though, I'll keep coming back as long as I can get a drink quickly when they're busy - something a lot of places on S. Broadway struggle with.

I have been here several times now and have always gotten the things I look for in a "joint". My friend took me here on my birthday for brunch, I had a bacon stuffed waffle and couldn't have enjoyed it more! Add the bottomless mimosas and the great company and I started my birthday off perfectly! Judging by the crowd, even after all the work and effort (and certainly money) that's gone into this place, Mr Lee is going to do just fine here.

I tried the "cigar" sandwich w/homemade fries & it was delicious. As per the review in Fridays Denver Post the service was a bit slow. This is the owners responsibility to get corrected. There is no excuse for this after being open for four months. A good server makes a resturant money it does not cost it money. I asked for a small side order of mashed potatoes & gravey but according to the bartender there was to much drama in the kitchen today to deal with my request. I'll give this place another try only because the food was pretty good. My bartender Scott was great it's the kichen & lack of enough wait staff that will dog this place until they get it right.

Gary Lee's is a fun, hip place with great food, cool auto shop/gas station themed decor, and a friendly ambiance. We've had appetizers and sandwiches here while having drinks and have enjoyed everything we've tried and always have fun. They also have a nice patio for SoBo people-watching. We can't wait to go back and try their brunch!

ok kids, here's the scoop... this place is the bee's knees. go for a bloody marty and some pork street tacos, and ya might as well start off with the thai wings if your feeling like a little piggy (like we were tonight). also, gary lees serves up a damn good burger... get the pickled veg for a side instead of boring old fries. wait staff are hella nice, gary is a cool cat, and the decor is what you dream your crappy garage should be. love it.

I live about a block away from this place and checked it out on day 9 of them being open. Gotta say they rocked it from all sides. The decor of the place was well done, the food amazing, the staff took time to welcome our group of 8 guys and make sure all our questions were answered. The chef even stopped by our table to answer questions. I'm so happy this place is in the hood.

The location and decor are spot on. Couldn't be better. My issue was with the weak drinks and, frankly, shameful service my friend and I experienced a few weeks ago. Before I arrived, my friend ordered a drink and also put in a food order since she had missed lunch that day. I arrived 10 minutes later and she suggested that I order a double since her vodka soda was a tad heavy on the soda. I did so and was pleased with the result. However, the food just never came, and the bartender never said anything to us despite standing right in front of us every time he used the register. Finally, feeling faint and cranky, my friend asked where her fried avocado was, and he said, "It should be here in a minute" - without a glance at the kitchen, his register, or her! Needless to say, it wasn't there in a minute, and she asked a couple more times, getting crankier with each question. Finally, the food comes and guy says, "That was my fault: I forgot to put in the order until your friend got here, so that's why it took longer." This wasn't a great answer, and it certainly wasn't an apology, but we let it go. Later on, a manager or someone walked through and asked how things were so we mentioned that the wait time was kind of out of control. He apologized and offered to put something else in to show us it was a one time thing, so we ordered some tacos. Again, it took so long that we had decided to get the tab and cancel the tacos by the time they came. Since they were there, we ate them, paid, and left. Incidentally, we were charged for all doubles, the avocados, and the tacos, despite the manager's insistence that he wanted to make it right. Listen, I know that the kitchen gets backed up on occasion. This, in itself, is not really an issue for me. However, the place was only 1/3 full. My main beef is with the service. The bartender never apologized for his error, was not overly attentive, and did nothing to help us feel better about our objections the whole night. The manager was no better with the half-hearted pacification he offered. The food was okay; no complaints there. The service left a bad taste in my mouth; that combined with weak drinks results in the dismal 2 stars.

Get the prosciutto wrapped jalapenos and the sausage plate. These are the two best things I've eaten at GLMCC and I tell everyone about them. Decent beer selection and an awesome patio. Service can be a bit slow at times (I tend to wonder if they'll ever notice I came in) but when they arrive, servers are always very nice.

Four of us went to Gary Lee's on Saturday the 14th. We were greeted promptly and got a table right away, probably because their great patio was full. We were very happy with everything and our waiter, Rachel, was GREAT! We started with the jalapeno poppers and then had, between the table, the brisket (amazing!), the smoked meatloaf sandwich (very filling, mashed potatoes and gravy ON the sandwich), and Gary Lee's Club (big and good). We also ordered the brussel sprouts, collard greens and the pickled vegetable mix - all good! Especially the collards and we're from the South! We did save room for dessert and had the pecan pie and the peach pie with ice cream from Sweet Action! Will definitely return!

We stopped in Sunday night for a drink and some apps. The chicken dip was awesome, and the fries were surprisingly tastey. Gary Lee himself stopped at our table and chatted with us for a bit, then again as we were leaving. Our server Kat was attentive and nice. Super excited for another welcoming neighborhood joint!

I will preface this by stating that I have never written a bad review ever, and will usually give places a second chance, but the disappointment is still lingering.. I live a few blocks from here and frequent all of the bars and restaurants in the neighborhood and, being a lover of hot rods, rockabilly culture, BBQ, and beer... I was very excited to see what the restaurant was all about. Upon entering we sat a few tables from the bar. We were greeted, given menus and asked about drinks and were served them, in fine time. Then it went down hill. We sat for 20 minutes, maybe more without any further acknowledgment. One of the waiters/tenders walked by us numerous times, helped people around us, went behind the bar, was texting on his phone and never once helped us. The other bartender finally noticed me staring at them and from behind the bar, shouted and asked us what we wanted. He didn't even bother coming to our table, so we had to shout our order to him, just two appetizers. They came out very quickly which was nice. The food that we did have was fine, but nothing to "write home about". Our plates sat empty on the table along with our glasses.... no offers for another drink, or if we needed anything else. Another 10 minutes go by and the same gentleman that "took" our order shouted again from the bar and finally asked if we needed anything else. We said no, expecting him to bring us the check. Instead, he shouted out our total for the entire establishment to hear. He must have seen the shock on my face and said, "unless you want me to bring you the paper check?" WHAT?!?! Who does that?? I worked in the industry for years and that would never be acceptable. We walked up to the bar, paid the tab, and left in disgust and disappointment. What a terrible taste I have yet to get out of my mouth don't know if I will ever return to Gary Lee's and if I do, I am hoping that the results are much better. Such a disapointment.

Gary Lee's was just okay. I think I had hyped up the menu (ok...the drink menu) in my mind and just felt a little let down once I got there. The atmosphere was cool and the drinks were interesting. I had some pear thing that I didn't love, but was okay. Some of my friends got other drinks that I tasted and liked a bit more, but again, nothing too great. My group was there for happy hour so we split some appetizers. They were all just okay too. The sausage flavors were really unique, which was cool, although we didn't like the flavor of couple of them. The one appetizer we all agreed we didn't love were the stuffed jalapenos. They ended up only tasting like the smoker. I was hoping more of the other flavors would come out, but really, it was just smoke flavor, which was not my style. I may come back here for dinner sometime, but there are definitely other places I'd rather try first.

One of the better places to hang out in SOBO (South Broadway). Feels like you are in a neighbors living room and the food is terrific for a pub. I feel comfortable going in by myself to have a quick meal and meet new neighbors, and that is not something I normally do. Love the brussel sprouts adn chicken wings. Thanks Gary and team!

I had brunch here over the weekend and I seriously can't stop thinking about the bacon waffle. There were so many awesome choices on the meny (breakfast burrito deconstructed--portobello red pepper omelette) it was tough to decide. But the Bacon Waffle won and it was the bee's knees. Can't wait to go back. The lunch and dinner menu look great as well. The ambiance is friendly, crisp and clean, hip without hipster pretentiousnous and a generally fun place.

Sadly, I have to agree with some other reviewers on here about the service. THE WORST I've ever experienced. Our waitress was not rude, she was never testy, but she was entirely unconcerned and could not have cared any less. It took her 20 minutes to acknowledge us (a Tuesday, and the place was only half full). She never refilled our waters and it took over an hour to deliver our uncomplicated dinner orders. Even more sad, the food was so bad it was OFFENSIVE. I wanted this place to be great. I'd tried to go there two times before and could not get in and even recommended to other people to go. My food (brisket chili) was inedible and I told her I could not eat it. She said, "ok" and shrugged. She could have given a shit. The entrees of my cohorts were both nearly inedible and had clearly been microwaved. After waiting an hour for food on a slow night you still have to microwave the food? They couldn't actually cook it or heat it up on the grill? In the end, the really, really inept server offered me a piece of pie as a concession for my terrible meal. This too was subpar and scorching hot from the microwave. How can pecan pie be really bad? Unreal. I've known Gary Lee from his many years in and around SOBO and I am saddened that his place was such a letdown. I had high hopes. P.S. To the not mean but unfriendly, inept server: time for a career change.

Great addition to the neighborhood, theses guys did a great job converting an old building into a really cool bar. The staff are really nice, the prices are reasonable, and the food is great. I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxed drink or meal.
