I had a long talk with the laughing fat man and he's thinking about some layoffs in the near future. He isn't feeling too funky anymore, from what I was told during our most recent conversation. The upstairs house music scene has been quickly run down with the hippity hop crap Mrs. Marva Munson so despised in Ladykillers. "Songs with the titles spelled all funny", she said. Major disappointment. Especially since it's out-of-the-way from other nightlife areas, unless you've got a sick mind and enjoy nearby establishments like Zen Ultra Lounge. Or are willing to hike up an estimated six to eight blocks to meet up with Jesus, still held hostage by the typical crowd of heretical hood rats at The Church.

I hadn't gone dancing in so long and a couple of days ago, I nipped that streak in the bud at Funky Buddha Lounge with one of my home-girls. We let our freak-flag fly and thankfully we were in good company. People came in and out of the place in waves, so it never stayed overly crowded for too long. Thankfully there's a downstairs and an upstairs to handle the overflow. Just about everyone was in a good mood and rather friendly. We hung out upstairs dancing to a couple of awesome DJs and being doted on by the sweetest, chillest bartenders. I'll be sure to go back the next time I am in town.

Let me just say that this place has decent music up top, the music on the first floor is sub-par on a Sat night. The 1 star rating is for the crooked bar tenders on the top floor. I ordered 4 drinks all night and get a tab back for $50 that's $12.50 per drink. Now I know drinks are not cheap these days but wow! The owners need to keep an eye on the till, I wonder how much is going into the bartenders pockets!

Went the other night after Dazzle for a later happy hour. They have $3 drafts & wells until 8 (dont know when it starts) And they have really good stuff on tap, Hoegaarden, Fat Tire, Guinness, Stella, etc. The bartender was pretty wasted but she was very friendly, naturally. The only people besides us that were there seemed to work there which was a big difference from Dazzle, which was packed. I don't know why this place was so dead, maybe everyone was upstairs? The bathroom was really dark :(.

Nothing special, at all. I went here on Friday night for happy hour, per a friend's request. We arrived and it was dead, which can be nice at times, but just made it seem kinda lame instead. The waitresses were pointless. We were on the upstairs deck, and there were 5 tables, including us, 2 cocktail servers, a bartender, and a busser. We asked for a drink menu, and it took 10 minutes. Really? We drank our drinks, the waitress never came back to take a re-order, or check on us, and my friend had to walk up to their station to ask for the check. There are so many better places in Denver, don't bother with this one. Oh, and their website link doesn't work. I had planned to look them up to see their hh specials, etc... We paid up, and headed out to our favorite bar...the Cruise Room...and once again, perfect drinks and perfect service. Night recovered.

Meh. This place is alright. I suppose it's not that bad considering it's in drunk walking distance from my apartment, there are places to sit, they don't charge a cover, and they have a roof top. BUT! What's with the creepy dudes lurking in the shadows???? I was drunk and ready to blow chow and I STILL noticed them. Sorry, I'm not OK with skeevy people watching my drunk gal pals dancing...it's creepy. I will say this though, it definitely did the job as far as being the closest place to go so we could all get our dance on...my living room was no longer big enough for dance party USA. Overall, the place was fine. I may have to come back sober-er to see if this place is somewhere I'd like to go again.

I visited Funky Buddha again on Friday and they seem to have gotten that horrible smell that was plaguing the location under control. So I am updating my review to 4 stars. FB has good music, reasonably priced drinks, and patios off the front and back side of the upstairs that are great on warm spring/summer nights. It tends to get a little overcrowded on the weekends, but is definitely a good bar option.

The Funky Buddha Lounge lives up to a third of its name. If you are looking for a funky experience or hoping to see Buddha nursing a drink, you are out of luck. That being said, it is a great lounge. My friends and I would congregate here after work often. On the more popular nights, we would grab a booth downstairs and do the whole liquid dinner thing. (The drinks can be strong and generally our will to imbibe would give way to growling stomachs, and so food was ordered and enjoyed.) On the occasions we couldn't secure a booth, we would hover until one did open up. In the summer, the upstairs is the place to be. That is, if you can find room. The place can get crowded. Luckily (for me anyways), the crowd always seemed to provide some generous guys and I remember getting a lot of free drinks. Unluckily (for you, the reader) I can't offer much info on the cost of drinks for this very reason... Regardless, the music is good, the people aren't bad and the food is tasty...go.

Funky Buddha is my wing man - dependable, unpretentious, chill and welcoming. Any given night, there are good deejays and drink specials. Never a cover. What more could you ask for? Well, you could say a nice rooftop patio - check. Or fabulously clean bathrooms - check.

Here's the breakdown: happy hour lasts until 8pm. This is enough time to actually get off work and participate with the rest of the happy-hour mongers. You can't go wrong with $3 drafts, especially when Guinness and Strongbow are on tap. Black Velvet anyone? The food is pretty tasty, as well. Pesto pizza, gyros, and lemon pepper wings. (Thanks for the recommendation bartender Lisa!) Besides that, the music is always turned to Alt Nation or some similar satellite radio station. Music is essential. Parking can be a bit of a pain since it's street parking. The rooftop bar has ample space for "lounging" and the downstairs bar is perfect for slower nights. I've only been here a couple of times and I'm usually gone before 9pm.

Not my place to go, I'm sorry but it was way over crowded up stairs that it was impossible to move around and actually enjoy the night so we left. Nice scenery though so i cant lie about that!

I really like Funky Buddha. I'm not a huge fan of the club scene, and even though this place definitely has it's too cool for school douches walking around, for the most part I've never been too bothered by the clientele. The downstairs is a lot quieter with just a bar and several booths. It has a fun vibe with it's brightly colored walls and pop culture paintings. Upstairs is really the club part. It's kinda pretty for a club and you kind of feel like you're in a greenhouse because of the roof and the ways the two ends open up into a patio. The seating areas are either at the bar itself (good luck finding a place to sit on a Friday or Saturday) and the couch areas that surround small coffee tables along one of the walls of the place. The couch areas are actually relatively easy to score, and are ideal if you're in a big group. The dancing area is really small, but I can honestly say that I've only danced there once, so this doesn't personally offend me. The music ranges from hip hop, electronic, and pop. Some people do go there to dance, my friends mostly go there to hang out, as do a lot of people. The place is either really crowded, or not so much. Either way, it's not impossible to walk around. If you need to paint the town red but also want a low key night, I'd go here!

Ok..yes..uh huh...i see....these are words that show someone you aren't too interested in what they are saying but you want to keep the ball rolling. This is kinda like funky buddah. The downstairs is chill and mellow but upstairs is busier and LOUDER!. The bar itself is ok and summers are cool with the open upstairs but its either hit or miss when you go there and while parking sucks around there dont park in the lot if you dont pay you WILL get a ticket( sorry Rene).....The dj's arent too good and the music is a bit too lous and the dance floor too small but its fun for people watching and the couches are a nice touch...un-huh..yea....really? you dont say...

If you're really into bars where you have to elbow your way through the crowd to move anywhere and where you are surrounded by people "making the scene" rather than enjoying a good cocktail or having nice conversation, Funky Buddha is for you. But count me out. Maybe I'm getting old, or maybe I'm getting more wise. Either way, I don't understand what the big deal is about this bar. It's overcrowded, overpriced and overhyped. The only positive thing I have to say about Buddha is that the decore is really quite nice. But how can you enjoy an atmosphere that's jam packed with loud, trendy singles? Give me a bar with a minimal crowd, a good cocktail and jazz music any day. Hmmm... sounds like Dazzle .....

Funky Buddha is a cool place to chill especially with the upstairs patio, my favorite part. Nice ambiance an it's conducive for mingling if you are hanging out solo. Great music, although the dance floor and the place in general is small. I find it a nice alternative to downtown bars.

Funkily surrounded by dilapidated parking lots the Funky Buddha pulls off its locational issues by transporting you to its trendy interior. The rooftop patio is the place to be with its hopping happy hour crowd and cool summer breezes. I hardly caught a glimpse of the downtrodden view because I was too busy taking in the hotties, mostly coupled up but eye catching just the same. Also yummy, the happy hour Almond Joy that will knock you on you a** if you drink it too fast. Got to love it! I could sip mixed up martinis and drool over this crowd way past happy hour's end at 8 pm.
