Meh.... For sushi I was not impressed. We came here after purchasing a special on Travel Zoo and I am really glad we did so. The listed price of the rolls was not what they would have been worth. Mediocre at best. The decor was beautiful and gave the feeling of being in a Vegas restaurant. With complimentary valet and fun cocktails this is the perfect stop before heading out on the town for other activities - I would just skip dinner here.

I attended the pre-opening event and was excited for the space to arrive given how long it had been under construction. It's a great looking room, however I really expected a more fitting crowd. A couple resto notes. 1. I really like that they are incorporating sous vide. Cutting edge for Denver (although I think they are doing it more out of efficiency & necessity?) 2. I was a bit concerned when I walked in and smelled fish. For a sushi place that should never be the case. Please note that I have not yet dined there - only cocktails. 3. During the evening the aroma went from that of fish to smoke. Apparently there is no hood? It seems certain restos can get away with no hood ventilation based on different cooking setups (see sous vide note above). In this instance it would have helped immensely as the lingering scent on my clothes was - interesting. All that being said, I'm sure they'll get the food situation worked out but I think their real strength would be as the setting for a "Bagatelle style" party brunch replete with bottle service and a 'spray zone'!

Despite reservations, we had to wait for 25 minutes or so. Food came out pretty slow. The pork belly mac n cheese is amazing though there is not a lot of it. The sushi rolls (california, caterpillar, sunshine, and salmon 2-ways) were just ok. The atmosphere is slightly pretentious.

We had a discount so we tried this place on Friday. We really liked this place. I'm not sure it's entirely worth the full price but everything we had was quite good. We really like the new style sashimi and the service was great.

Stopped in for happy hour food and drink. Exactly what I expected. Wine list is robust with a solid selection of red versus white wines. Good sake list and champagne selection as well. Happy hour food menu was good and not too pricy.

Waited for 1 1/2 hr for food. They didn't even check the food quality before serving. We ordered mussels dish and it tasted horrible after the 1st bite due to the mussels wasn't fresh, we then returned the dish. Lack of experience waiter, don't know which dish goes to which person. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant.

Went back a few times to enjoy the food and looks like the menu changed a bit. No more chef's tasting... (why!?!?) Duy's not always cooking the food.. (WTF... WHY!?!?!?) Then.. the EDM music starts.. the bar get's hopping.. oh.. I know now.. people go here for the "club" and not the food.. sad day.. sad day.. I'll just travel more for amazing food.

It's a good place!

Nick Shankland and Vincent Gallardo (the chef's) made me a delicious dish off the menu when I came in! Amazing service with a decadent atmosphere made my experience more than pleasant. 5 stars! Definitely recommend and will be back!

Went here last Saturday night with a couple of friends. Ordered the Pork Belly Mac & Cheese and the Mixed Green salad with a lemon vinaigrette and topped it off with the Samurai Old Fashioned. I was revised not to try to the sushi. The service was friendly and the decor was nice, although I felt the atmosphere was lacking inspiration and energy. Overall, food was ok, but not something I'd come back for. The prices for entrees were $25-28 and included all the typical items such as a sirloin, cured salmon, seabass, roasted chicken. This place presents itself as a fine dining establishment with the expense, yet lacks substinance and development in the food department. I left feeling quite uninspired by this establishment. This is not where I'd go if I was looking for somewhere good to eat. It would be more of a place you were obligated to go to because your hipster friends wanted to go to make an appearance.

Cool place. Great live music. Beautiful bathrooms that are a little confusing. Our waitress was pleasant but seemed disinterested. She didn't know that eel sauce was on her favorite roll. When I told her I was allergic to it, she said they could take it off if it was on there. We never got an answer either way, and then it came out with eel sauce on it. Our food took a LONG ass time to come out. We ordered five rolls, and we waited nearly an hour with no food. The pear drink was good. The breakfast drink was better. The Divinitea was the best. The Sunshine Roll was definitely worth the wait. The others were good. The fish was fresh. The Spicy Tuna was really spicy. Overall, I really liked the sushi but was unimpressed by the service. I know it's sort of new, but not new enough that it should still be having those problems. They did take our TravelZoo deal without any problem or attitude. I'd like to come back and give it another try, but there are so many other places in Denver I want to try or already love, I'm not sure how soon that will happen.

Swanky little place. I like the bartenders and the drinks were reasonable. I'll have to check out this place for dinner soon. They also had a good DJ on Saturday.

Chef Duy is back in a BIG way and I could not be happier! I took my 70 yr. old mother (who previously lived in Pueblo) here for dinner the other night and she was as blown away by Duy's cooking as she was at his place down in Pueblo. The sea bass was so melt-in-your-mouth-amazing she is STILL talking about it! We also got to try a clam chowder that was not on the menu and it was SO delicious; I REALLY hope they make it a regular feature. The mussels are a great start to a meal with the only drawback being they do not give you any bread to soke up that delicious juice!! The restaurant itself is beautiful from one end to the other and the champagne list is out of this world. This restaurant is for sure to be the next downtown hot spot so get there before you can't get in the door!!

Went and tried Epernay on Valentine's Day at the extreme recommendation from a friend. Perhaps he hyped it up too much for me because I was underwhelmed. The service was amazing and very friendly, but the food was just... Ehh. We started with a half dozen oysters and the Sweet Shrimp & Octopus Ceviche. The oysters, while fresh, were some of the tiniest oysters I have ever consumed. I know that Kumamoto Oysters are already small to begin with, but seriously these were tiny. The Ceviche was just okay - I felt the octopus was cooked wrong because it was way too chewy and it was like having a piece of gum in your mouth. For my main course I selected the Pan Seared Sea Scallops, which tasted fine but were nothing really special. I felt like I could get the exact same dish elsewhere for less. Maybe the kitchen staff were still working out kinks before the grand opening that was happening that weekend or maybe it was just because it was Valentine's Day, but overall I was just very unimpressed with the food. However I've had other friends go and tell me it was great so I'll likely go there again just to give it another shot.

Great service! Two favorite items were tuna sashimi with blue cheese foam and pork belly mac n cheese!
(4)Aileen D.
Beautiful space, beautiful people and even beautiful food. Our server was wonderful - VERY patient and accommodating. We sampled the spicy tuna rolls and steak rolls - not bad. The winners were the pork belly mac and cheese, tuna poke and mussels. I can't believe they did not have any bread for that amazing broth. I need to come back and try the rest of the menu.

Epernay Lounge, with a name like that you better buckle up! We arrived about 6:45 for our 7:00 reservation and after a perfect valet we met the rest of our dining companions who we busy testing the bartenders ability, what a concept! The decor reminded me of my time in Miami/South Beach which at the time of our dinner we all wished we were in Miami because was snowing to beat the band. (note we were there last weekend before restaurant week) After being seated in the middle of the room, drinks ordered we began to walk the seafood hall of fame, from chilled oysters on ice from B.C and Washington to a butternut squash soup, marlin poke and excellent sushi as our starters. The pace was so easy and unhurried that by the time we dived into the mains of sea bass basted in soy, baby bok choy and sushi rice to a great bowl of mussels, more sushi and a sirloin salad that was sliced with the deft hand of an excellent trained chef. Its the details!!! I could go on but he you need to check it out yourself! There is an added bonus the bar.....now that is another story!!! All in all a great time and we'll be back

On our anniversary, going to the theatre but forgot our tickets. Knowing how critical this was our waitress Taylor and the manager Chris really really helped us out by taking time out of their hectic jobs to print our tickets from their office printer. Awesome!! While Chris did so, Taylor made it a point to keep checking on us and even educated us on the wines they carry. It was among the top 5 best restaurant experiences I've had. Oh and the food was perfect. A totally different set of flavors that I haven't tasted before. Thank you Epernay!

I can't honestly tell you how the food was because I waited two hours and didn't get to have any! So this review is about the Epernay experience. I went there on a Saturday night for a friend's birthday dinner. It was a large group of 30 and we were asked to pre order so that the kitchen wouldn't run out of entrees. When we arrived for our 8:30pm reservation, there was a decent crowd in the lounge/at the bar. The manager showed us our table was ready but had us wait at the bar until everyone arrived. We didn't get seated until after 9pm. The waiter came out with a handwritten pre order list. He didn't know how to confirm who ordered what... so the birthday girl took the list and went from person to person to ask what we ordered. Everyone joked we should be tipping her instead of the waiter. They ran out of some dishes already even with pre orders. Then sushi was ordered separately. It was a huge cluster$@#! When the food slowly started coming out at 10pm, the waiter would yell out "who had beef tenderloin?... sea bass?" He had no idea where the dishes should go. Extremely unexpected for a fancy restaurant. It felt like a sports bar... but worse... even Hooters girls know where to set down the dishes. I had ordered the sea bass and at 10:30pm noticed no more food was coming out of the kitchen. When I asked, the waiter apologized and said there was no more entrees. What?! I had waited for two hours, did what I was asked with this pre order policy... yet there was no plate for me. Friends offered to share but I didn't want to take away from their already tiny portions. The waiter didn't ask if there was something he could do or if I wanted to order sushi. I ended up leaving with a friend to eat at a nearby food truck. At least I was fed! Epic fail.

The pear cocktail is delicious. Service this time was great. First time a newbie waited on us and she was adorable but she is no longer there. The sushi was ok. I like going here especially when I have theater tickets. It is right in the neighborhood. I will go back mostly for the convenience and friendly waiters.

Unfortunately I would not recommend Epernay to anyone who is looking for good, professional service for their money. I just hosted my 40th Birthday Soiree at Epernay over the weekend and although I was pleased with the food and drink selection, I could not have been more annoyed and disappointed with the service provided by the event coordinator Ashton and the GM Chris. I placed a 50% deposit with Epernay to host a party for up to 20 people, complete with food, drinks, dessert and decor. I even paid an extra $300 for an ice sculpture to work as the centerpiece of my section. The event was supposed to start at 7:00pm last Saturday evening However, when we arrived at Epernay a little after 7:00 not only was I NOT greeted by the coordinator whom I had been working with over the past month (She didn't come out to speak to me until at least 30 min after my arrival), but also nothing was set up for my party in my designated area; there was no decor as promised (Ashton said she couldn't find anything in the colors I requested) and the ice sculpture wasn't even complete as the young man was still working on it out on the street in front of the venue when we arrived. Chris bought us a round of drinks to try to smooth things over a bit, however, it quickly became clear that this was a first in a comedy of errors for the evening. When the ice sculpture was brought in my friends and I had to direct them on where to set it up and where to put the chairs in my designated area. ChBut here's the real kicker: No one told me ahead of time that that they were hosting another huge event there the same night, the WBFF Fitness & Fashion Spectacular Runway Show. This was a fashion show featuring about 20 male and female fitness models, agents, photographers, friends. If you go to the Epernay Facebook page there is an advertisement listed for the event, however, they posted that the same day, so no one gave me a heads up that this event would clash with my party or gave me the option to cancel and find another venue. Even worse, Ashton and Chris thought it would not only be a good idea to setup my party right next to the fashion show, but also that it would be a great idea to NOT rope off my area or separate it from this other very loud and boisterous event. As a result, a lot of the fitness people were occupying my designated space, taking picture with and attempting to lean against my ice sculpture (One guy who wasn't in my party almost knocked it over). A few people even came into my area, unsolicited, and ate some of the food that I had pre-ordered. Even one of the bartenders came over and ate my bacon wrapped shrimp thinking that it was a part of the fitness party (Ashton replaced that order on the house but seriously? Why is the bartender leaving the bar to impose on another party?) Many people at the other event were confused and thought the two parties were together. I had to ask at least three times if they could bring out a velvet rope or something to separate the two parties. Chris kept telling me that the Fitness event would be over in 30 minutes. Well, 30 minutes turned into nearly three hours because it was a full fashion show in which the models walked a makeshift runway (right in front of and next to my soiree) and posed in several outfits. There was a person with a microphone who was MCing the fashion and who was quite verbal throughout. Again, I paid a $732 deposit to host a small party there and I was not made aware of any of this. Before he left, the young man who provided the ice sculpture told me two things: 1, someone at the venue needed to make sure that they emptied the run-off bucket for the melted water from the sculpture and That he needed to be paid and tipped. What? Payment to the ice sculpture guy was never supposed to be my responsibility; the price was included in my bill/contract with Epernay. I was never supposed to meet with, or deal with any vendors. And the water bucket? It Didn't get emptied so of course the area around the sculpture flooded and my guests' feet got wet and we couldn't stand in the area to take shots off of the sculpture because there was water everywhere. When it came time to pay the bill, it took almost 35 minutes for someone to bring the bill out. When Ashton did bring it out, it was the wrong balance. The second bill t was also incorrect. There was a charge on the bill that said, "LIZ $114" but no one could articulate what it was for. So we argued back and forth over that and about the fact that they were trying to charge me for drinks that we did not consume. Again, I had a contract: Up to 15 Bellinis and Up to 20 Russian Punches. They wanted me to just pay the max. Also, the cake I ordered? Only half of it was eaten. I asked them if they could box it and they said fine. However, after we argued over the bill they made me wait another 20 min for the cake and then sent it out smushed in plastic wrap. For what I paid, what they wanted me to pay the service was awful.

I went to Epernay for my birthday, and was very disappointed. There are definitely better sushi places in Denver. The atmosphere was nice, but I found it weird that the men's restroom didn't have a door. If you passed the women's on accident you then found yourself in the men's. We ordered a variety of dishes. Sushi, Mussels, Crispy Bork Belly, and two main courses. They were out of 3 of the fish items that we ordered for nigiri. They forgot one of the rolls. The two main courses were severed cold. Not even room temperature. Nothing seemed to be right. The dish we raved about was the mussels. Everything else disappointed us. They said I would receive something special for my birthday, and nothing was done. I am giving them 2 stars because they are new, and they may not completely understand how to order the proper amount of food from their supplier. I don't think I would visit Epernay again.

I was so excited about this place, it has only been open for a few weeks, but they are doing everything right in regards to running a new restaurant. We went on an early Saturday evening, decided to sit at the bar to take advantage of Happy Hour (bar and lounge only). From the HH menu we got fresh oysters ($1.25 per oyster-awesome!) Two hand rolls that were huge ($3.00 a pop), and the Baby Spinach Salad-sous vide egg was out of this world, and the bacon vinaigrette was very good ($6.00). Now on to other menus! There is a small raw menu, a decent sushi menu, a starter and entree menu, and then a menu of specials. From the special menu we chose the 'sunshine roll', this sucker packed some great lemon flavor. From the starter menu we got Vanilla Sous Vide Lobster Tail, this was wonderful and cooked perfectly. For the entree we opted on the vegetarian dish of the day, which happened to be this delicious little mushroom and bleu cheese tartlette with a few pieces of kale and sweet potatoes on the side. I tried a couple of the specialty cocktails and they hit the spot. The service here was great, Joshua and Morgan were very helpful at the bar, as well as a super nice guy with an English accent (didn't catch his name). They have a crazy selection of champagne and sake, pretty damn fun in my opinion. The space is pretty swanky and pretty. I would recommend this place, especially if you are craving great sushi but also wonderful French/Global inspired fare.

Epernay's happy hour pricing and variety made me very happy. Solid bourbon old fashioned and 1/2 off champagne and wines. Sous vide chicken wings are reason enough to come back... and come back often. So incredibly delicious!! Think dynamite mussels in wing form.... Sooo good I was drooling after every bite! The bartender was congenial and very polished. However, the presense of an attractive girl backing him up with no service skills was weird and unnecessary. I'll need to go back for dinner sometime, but honestly... this place is worth the stop if you're heading to a show. Jonny wants wingy!!
(4)Terry R.
Literally the worst service ever. Could not even get a glass of water. In fact the waiter could not even run our tab correctly. The food was decent but it took forever. Had to get our own water and the manager was sexist by comping a table of girls who also had horrible service but not our table. Pitiful. Don't go ever

Very impressed. I bought a deal for 2 cocktails and 4 sushi rolls to try Epernay out last week, as they're a newer restaurant. We went early to take advantage of happy hour, as theirs is really decent - many $5 cocktails, $3 beers, small plates, etc. We sat at the bar for about an hour with a rather frazzled but very competent bartender serving us. We ordered from him: a Samurai Old Fashioned (which is an old fashioned with some sort of 'essence' in it and the most delicious cherries I've ever had, 'Bordeaux cherries'), a mojito (with properly muddled fresh mint, and I believe a sparkling wine in it in place of any soda water), a spicy tuna roll (perhaps the freshest tuna I've ever had!), salmon tartare (fresh, not swimming in sauce like some places), and pork belly sliders (didn't really care for them.... they were paired with a chocolate-y sauce, just weren't my style). Great service at the bar, excellent happy hour prices. We then moved to our dinner table. Our server was very accommodating, and took our Travelzoo thing with a smile on her face - no judgement, like I've seen elsewhere at times. The owner was visible, hard at work making sushi. We got: more samurai old fashioneds, more mojito, seared tuna nigiri, more spicy tuna roll, a roll made with raw beef and green onion, a California roll (which is normally rather dull to me, this was flavorful and fresh), and a yellowtail with jalapeno roll. Fatty tuna was on the menu yet not available - but that's to be expected, and I appreciate a chef only serving what he knows to be fresh. All in all, a great dining experience - fun, friendly, lovely decorating, great quality drinks and food. It seems to me that they've ironed out the wrinkles that others have mentioned in their posts, now that they've been open for a few months. We'll definitely be going back!

We tried out this place using a Travelzoo deal. the place was quite modern, although I wasn't really fond of the glass windows looking out to the busy street, the atmosphere it was trying to create was upscale, but the clear windows make the place feel like a diner. The service was a bit slow, but the waiter was very friendly. We like the rolls we ordered, and the cocktails were delicious.

We were soo excited to try this new restaurant and managed to get a table on Valentine's Day before their official opening this Saturday. Service and atmosphere were wonderful but food--it pains me to say, left us underwhelmed. Pork belly starter was an 80% fat chunk with a wee bit of meat. The mac cheese was delicious but lukewarm (kind of a theme). The tea smoked duck was just OK and not hot, the brown rice was bland, clumpy and cold. The bok choy was overcooked.and not cleaned properly to the point of being gritty. For a $24 entree this is definitely not acceptable. My wife's chowder was delicious but the sea bass that everyone raves about was fishy?! Her rice was cold as well. Opted not to stay for dessert. I wish them luck and know that these issues are easily remedied
(2)Andrew R.
I booked reservations at this restaurant a week before Valentine's day. Two days before Valentine's day they canceled the reservation and would not be able to help me. They blames the result on Open Table for not having a large party reservation in the system. Two days out from Valentine's day I am unable to book another restaurant. TL:DR Their bad service for reservations ruined my Valentine's Day.

Five stars in NOT enough! We had tickets to the theater last night and decided to go to Epernay Lounge. It is absolutely phenomenal! There are a lot of options in the theater district like Oceanaire, Limelight, Kevin Taylor, Prima, just to name a few. Hands down; Epernay Lounge far surpasses these guys. Why? This place is SPECIAL! Let's start with the food. The Sashimi taster was Superb! Fresh and incredibly tasty with a unique blend of sauces and spices. SPECIAL! The scallops, the salads, the entrees, and on and on. SPECIAL! The presentation of the food is absolutely beautiful; like an artistic masterpiece hanging in a museum SPECIAL: The service - they bend over backwards to make sure their guests are treated well. SPECIAL! The wine list is extensive including a vast array of Champagne. And the Happy Hour prices can't be beat. Their cocktails are creative, with fresh ingredients made in house. SPECIAL! The atmosphere -- Wonderful decor, floor to ceiling windows, warm colors -- it is a delight to dine here. I will continue to patronize Epernay Lounge, whether I am going to theater or not. So, if you are looking for a place that will make you feel SPECIAL -- don't miss it!

Went here yesterday for happy hour! Great specialty drinks that were only $5. The decor was very contemporary without the stiffness. I had the spicy tuna roll which was decent and my friends got the mac n cheese which they said was awesome. Joshua, the bartender gave us fantastic service and delicious drinks. We had so much fun. I would highly recommend this place, can't wait to go back and try the food!

My boyfriend and I had been looking forward to the opening of Epernay for weeks (maybe months for him)... They may be one of the only proofs that Google isn't perfect as Google Maps has them listed wrong. Epernay is ON 14th. Once we found it, we were surprised to find it mostly empty at 6PM. Here's hoping word spreads quickly. The entire staff was an astounding blend of friendly, funny and not overbearing. We went on a Thursday before a (really bad) show in the Performing Arts Complex. This is truly a restaurant you want to sit at for a couple hours, but with work and curtain time, we only had about an hour. We still managed two courses and plenty of drinks in that timeframe. They were very accommodating. We started with the spicy tuna roll - which is, shockingly, actually very spicy and Chesapeake Bay oysters - which were priced at just $10 for a half dozen. If I could have lived amongst those oysters, I would. I'll be talking about them for weeks. For our entrees I had the salmon and my boyfriend had the seabass. Both were...perfect and beautiful. I couldn't decide what to order so had the server pick for me. The salmon I ended up with was melt-in your mouth buttery and deliciously crispy all at once. The seabass had the right amount of sweetness and flavor. With 4 drinks, a sushi roll, oysters and two entrees we still made it out of there at just over $100. Tell all of the people. It's awesome.

Went here for drinks with my partner before going to see Le Mis and was pleasantly surprised. If you go during happy hour all their pricey cocktails are $5 and it is well worth the trip! Every one we tried was interesting and unique and the bar was quiet and intimate.

Perfect place for a night on the town. Sushi is great, drinks are strong, and the Chefs always have something awesome up their sleeve. Great place to grab a bite or a drink.

This will be, without a doubt, Denver's best new restaurant of 2013. My husband and I had dinner here before their actual opening and were floored by how amazing the food and service was. The smoked salmon sashimi is out of this world with a good amount of maple and smoky flavors. It was so good that we ended up ordering two! The duck entree and the salmon entree had flavors that complimented each other perfectly. And for dessert, the maple creme brûlée was to die for! Seriously! It was topped with bits of crispy bacon, so people who love the combo of maple and bacon will not be disappointed with this incredible dessert!
(5)Cindy E.
I went there last night for the first time. My rating would be a 4.5, but since that's not an option I went with the 5 because the staff put it over the top. We sat at the bar to ate and Joshua served us most of the night. He was friendly and very informative. We had so much great food. The yellowtail and jalepano sashimi was amazing as was the incredible truffle mac and cheese. The stir fry roll was delicious. I would DEFINITELY order all three of those again. They also have a great happy hour. We enjoyed our experience so much, we texted a friend to come meet us while we were there. I've already told people about this place today. Check it out, you won't regret it.

Stopped in for happy hour food and drink. Exactly what I expected. Wine list is robust with a solid selection of red versus white wines. Good sake list and champagne selection as well. Happy hour food menu was good and not too pricy.

What a nice, unexpected find! While waiting for Doyle and Debbie to start at the Galleria Theater, we ended up venturing here for a quick bite to eat. Of course the guy outside the theater working for them is really the one who convinced us to check it out (it is just around the corner from the theaters courtyard). Not only were they able to accommodate our short time window, but the food there was really amazingly good. We tried a few sushi rolls (yum), and also a couple of their sakes. It was my first cold sake and, wow, it was incredible. We actually sat in the bar area in some comfy chairs...The overall ambiance was definitely nice, low light, more on the fancy side. Service was excellent..very helpful and friendly. It looked like they had a nice happy hour menu too...but we were there too late (I think it ends at 6:30). Not only will I go back, but I am really looking forward to it.

Epic fail.

Love coming to this place! Everyone is so welcoming and so friendly! I love coming here for their drinks and desserts! If you're dropping by for a drink, make sure you meet Michael and Caleb. Favorite bartenders I have ever met!!

My girlfriend and I went here last Friday night. I hope the following review is helpful to all. Pro: Service was excellent. Taylor was a great and very professional server. The food was excellent as well. Con: Unfortunately the heat was not working, but the owner and our server apologized. (We even got a free cup of Miso Soup). In the end I would recommend the restaurant to anyone that wants a sushi spot that is modern but also has live music in the evening.
(4)Michelle A.

Nick Shankland and Vincent Gallardo (the chef's) made me a delicious dish off the menu when I came in! Amazing service with a decadent atmosphere made my experience more than pleasant. 5 stars! Definitely recommend and will be back!
(5)Heather M.
(3)Lyna P.
(2)Kimberly G.

Something wrong on the list? Bad everything for 3 years!!!! Never more!!!!!!!

(5)Aileen D.

(5)Yanhua P.
(4)Miranda P.
Great service! Two favorite items were tuna sashimi with blue cheese foam and pork belly mac n cheese!
(4)Shaunda F.

(5)Geneviève E.
Went here for drinks with my partner before going to see Le Mis and was pleasantly surprised. If you go during happy hour all their pricey cocktails are $5 and it is well worth the trip! Every one we tried was interesting and unique and the bar was quiet and intimate.
(4)Megan M.
Perfect place for a night on the town. Sushi is great, drinks are strong, and the Chefs always have something awesome up their sleeve. Great place to grab a bite or a drink.
(5)Christina F.

Hmmm. Shouldn't they be called "Happy Hours" if they last for more than just one? . . . So each week the world's most beautiful woman and I have our Wednesday Night Date Night. For our anniversary every year one of her presents is a season's pass to one of the DCPA play packages. Usually that includes something like 8 plays during the winter/spring season. And when those plays come up (they're scheduled on Wednesdays, our date night:), we're always looking for a place where we can grab a quick bite before the show. Enter the Epernay Lounge. For a long time we used to hit up Happy Hour at The Corner Office, but that has become so HH-crowded that there's rarely even a seat at the bar open these days. Looking for close-by alternatives we saw the Epernay Lounge across the street and decided to give it a try. Maybe it crowds up later in the evening (?), but every time we've gone in (just before 6 p.m. until just before play time at 7:30 p.m.), the place has been lightly used and we've never had a problem getting a booth or sitting at the bar for their HH treats. Best deals are the truffle mac & cheese, the spinach salad with bacon, blue cheese and poached egg (!), and their spicy shrimp (not tuna) roll. They've got a very good selection of $3 bottled beer and half-price wines available and the folks have always been really really nice. Can't talk about how they do with their regular menu, but when it comes to providing a place for a good HH before a show, the Epernay Lounge fills the bill just fine. Sign me, David "Broadway" M.

Sushi is very good. Fun bright bar and restaurant. Friendly staff. Right Next to the Denver Performing Arts Center. Saki was tasty.
(5)Nicole D.
Great pre-show drinks and dinner spot. Surprisingly not crowded on an Friday night around 6ish as well. Had tickets to see a show and found this little gem on Yelp. We had some sushi rolls and sake. Super tasty and just the right amount of food for a light dinner. Love the vibe too, kinda hip and trendy without really trying. Bartender was super attentive and friendly. Will definitely come back here when in the area as I would like to sample some other tasty treats they had on the menu.
(4)Victor V.
We arrived about 5:30 for a pre-theater dinner. Warmly greeted by our server Taylor, we were seated at a quiet table and offered water and he took our drink order right away. After he brought out our German Reisling, we decided to start with an appetizer of oysters on the half shell and shrimp cocktail. Both served very fresh and presented nicely. Deciding against a heavy dinner we selected another appetizer they named CHARCUTERIE. It was a great combination of cheeses, meats and toast points. Perfect dinner. Taylor was gracious and attentive. Will definitely return to enjoy other menu options.

Met some girlfriends frim work here and it was way more than i expected. Staff was amazing.managers were fun and engaging. We came foe happy hour stayed for the partying. Food was reasonably priced. You have to take in consideration the location and atmosphere. There is $12 valet parking.well worth it in the downtown area especially if you plan to stay for a while.

James F and I were off to the DPCA one evening and the Corner Office was packed to the gills! So we took a quick jaunt around the neighborhood and stumbled upon Epernay. We were immediately greeted by a super lovely hostess/server; while the place was packed, she assured us that she could squeeze us in tout de suite. While we waited, she continued to check on us and let us know the progress of our table. After we were sat, we let the server know we were in a bit of a hurry and she quickly grabbed our drinks and food order and even brought our bill right away. And sure enough, our martinis and sushi arrived in no time! But most importantly, everything was fantastic. We both loved our martinis and the sushi was top notch in my book. Beautiful presentation and very flavorful! While Epernay is swish and swanky, don't be fooled into assuming it's a club atmosphere, it's very far from it! Enjoy a fancy night out in a cool lounge with great service, excellent drinks, and tasty bites. I'll certainly stop back here before another show, Epernay rocked it!
(4)Montana N.
I love this place. The food is great and the setting is chic but not stuffy. They have a good selection of bubbles by the glass which is hard to come by in this town. They always have awesome music and bring in some solid DJs (my favorite is Already Sweaty and I'm not the only person who feels that way). Now let's get to the staff. These people are amazing. Always a guaranteed great night with happy, good looking people pouring great drinks. The owner is a good guy that spends his time working hard to grow his business and support others in the industry (he is also not horrible to look at and I'm not the only person who feels that way either). I highly recommend this spot to anyone that is thirsty and likes fun.

My husband and dear friends of forty years went here on Friday night before a show. Reservations were at 5:45. The valet service was great. We were seated promptly. Took awhile to get our drinks. We were than told they were out of the entrees we wanted to order. The place was practically empty. Thought that was odd. Everything came slowly and we weren't finished until 7:15. I will say the food was good but still disappointed we weren't able to get the dishes we originally wanted. Restaurant was very attractive. Will probably not go back and will choose another restaurant for our next show.
(3)Stefanie F.
This is the place for friends and style. The drinks are fabulous and we enjoyed the food. I recommend the sushi and green chili egg rolls.
(5)Kristine N.
Beautiful restaurant with friendly enough service. We had a few cocktails and a few bottles of sake at the bar to start off the night. Had some spicy edamame to munch on and it was really good. Then decided to grab a caterpillar roll before moving on for the night. It was decent but those are pretty standard and hard to mess up.
(3)Jennifer S.
Some coworkers and I stopped in after dinner to enjoy a cocktail before going to bed. The place was empty and I couldn't figure out why as the staff was really nice, the atmosphere was great and the drink list was extensive...how can you go wrong with a champagne bar?
(4)Kitten C.
Terrific atmosphere and staff! A truly BEAUTIFUL space.

Came in at 8pm on a Friday night for 6 people. Checked in with the hostess and she went to go figure out the table situation. The manager comes by and makes sure we were helped. They sit us in a white booth with tall backs and a tiny table. I told her we were eating and she said yes you can eat there. We ended up with 7 people and 14 drinks (7 waters and our alcohol of choice). We ordered a lot of food and there was no room. The booth thing was cool but wish we sat at a table instead. The sushi was pretty good, just a limited selection. They also fall apart very easily. Oysters were good sized and tasted fresh. Service from hostess, waitress, managers was great. We finished up around 10pm and they were in a hurry to clean our messy table. The place turns into a lounge and I think we were in the way with our empty cups and mini soy sauce bowls. The girls got a free class of champagne. We did order a "special" roll (stir fry roll) that was handwritten on the bottom of the page. Should be good right? Disgusting! It was old, left over, hard, tough pieces of steak rolled up in seaweed and rice.

I recommend this place for happy hour for sure...Half off wines and 5 dollar specialty cocktails are pretty hard to beat. I can only vouch for the good drink deals. I was not too impressed by the sushi or the small portion of mac and cheese we got. It seems like a good place to go late night for some dancing but a little to posh for me.

I stopped in here for an early happy hour the other day. The bartenders were excellent and friendly. The drink specials were also decent. Happy Hour Cocktails include: Buy One Get One Hot Sake, $3 Well Drinks, $3 Bottled Beers, Half Priced Wines by the Glass, Half Price Champagne by the Glass, and $5 Signature Cocktails. Since my beer of choice was not yet cold (I appreciate when they are honest about stuff like that), for my drink, I went with the Kaffir Lime Caipirinha (mugi ichi soju / muddled limes / kaffir lime leaves / sugar / served short), It was pretty decent. There are several unique cocktails on the menu and you can save quite a bit (50% to 60% off the regular price) if you order during HH. I also opted to try the fresh oysters ($1.25 per oyster durring HH). Sadly, it was early May, and I had forgotten the basic rule about no ordering oysters during any month without an "R" in it. This seemed to be true as these oysters were tired, bland, and gritty. I would be willing to try this place again.

A-OK, that is what yelp calls 3 stars and I feel that Epernay was indeed A-OK. We went there when we had a short period of time before a show next door. Had cocktails, sushi and a salad. The food, especially the salad, took quite a bit longer to get than we expected or planned, which is the one thing that would keep this from being higher up on the star category. Once we got it however, it was great. This is a short review for me, and that is in large part because we plan on going back and being able to update and elabortate. Until next time....

Not very impressed. The service was great but we weren't very happy with the food... Also when we walked in at 8, there was only 1 other table so that may have "killed it" for me. Great service, friendly staff, but not very good food/atmosphere.

Wow! Denver's best kept secret! Sushi was terrific. Hip modern atmosphere. Try the lamb entrée! It was delicious. Right in the middle of Denver's theatre district we stopped before the show. Looking foreword to coming back afterwards for a few drinks and dancing. The staff was very friendly and courteous. Definitely making this place my regular stop when I drive in from Colorado Springs. I love it! Can't wait to go back!

A girl friend and I stopped in for drinks before our show started next door at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House -- just quick drinks at the bar, so I can't attest to the food. The atmosphere is higher end, but it's what you'd expect for the area near the performing arts complex. The cocktails are a bit pricy, but you get what you pay for. My Manhattan was strong and just the way I like it, and my friend's champagne cocktail was delicious as well. The bartender was friendly and conversational -- I appreciate any bartender that respects a woman that knows what she's talking about when it comes to whiskey, that isn't taken aback when I say 'surprise me' when asked which whiskey I'd prefer and rises to the challenge, and that will chat with me about the ingredients used. I foresee stopping in again, most likely during Happy Hour for discounted drinks and those $1.25 oysters I've been reading about.

Came here for a special event. I love this place. Upscale, dressy, sophisticated, lots of gorgeous women and absolutely my scene. Walking in here makes you feel like you are in a James Bond movie. We came here on another night and it was a similar situation so people weren't dressed up just because of the special event. Drinks are pricey. But, you should be expecting that in an upscale place. Do not get it twisted, this lounge is targeting a specific clientele so the expensive drinks are part of that strategy. I highly recommend this place. They will let you in no matter how you are dressed but I suggest you dress to impress.

The Good: -Server (Nadine?) was very cool! She was attentive and patient while we took a few minutes to order. She deserves a promotion. -The sushi was really good! We got some of the basic rolls (california, spicy tuna, etc...) and they are better than some of the other places in the neighborhood. The Bad: -The place seems to have an identity crisis. The booths were cheap and slid around while I was trying to eat. The layout was kind of awkward. The mens bathroom doesn't have a door and the wallpaper is naked pictures of Eva Mendez. Apparently the womens bathroom had Adam Levine and Johnny Depp pictures. There was also a bathroom attendant in the womens bathroom which is just always kind of awkward and didn't make sense. I know that this is a "lounge", but it has a kind of confused vibe. -Food price was very high. Be prepared to pay 40% more than some restaurants in the neighborhood for some dishes. -We were freezing and put on our winter coats half way through the meal even though we weren't near the door at all. That all being said, the 3 stars are for service and food and the -2 stars are for everything else. I recommend checking out other sushi in LoDo unless you're at the Convention Center and it's freezing. I was not there for the nightclub atmosphere, so I may be way off with that, but we were there on a Friday night at 9pm and it was pretty empty.

I tried out Epernay Lounge during Denver Restaurant Week with MeetInDenver and it was absolutely delightful. They were very accommodating with regard to our last-minute reservation change and separate checks. The service was great. The food was outstanding. The grilled octopus was probably the best I've ever had, not rubbery, and deliciously seasoned. The new style sashimi was wonderful as well, the sauces were light and paired perfectly. The cocktails were spectacular. I really enjoyed their version of the French 75 and the sake-strawberry drink in a martini glass. I'm so glad this place participated in Restaurant Week because I'm not sure I would have heard of this restaurant, otherwise. We will definitely be back.

Very lively bar/club/lounge scene! GREAT service and very fun atmosphere! I look forward to coming back!

Great Happy Hour. See my tip. You never know who you might meet, and what random notes you might get (I did not write the note in the pic, lol).

Ordered three rolls, 2 were Unedible and the third was grocery store quality. Very expensive too much rice. The saki was overpriced, as we have bought that same bottle in DC, Annapolis, etc. we tried to send the bad rolls back, the manager came out and told us we had chosen incorrectly per our tastes and he would remake another roll at no additional charge. That too sucked and we really wanted to leave but kind of got strong armed to stay in that miserable place surrounded by miserable people. Experience was forgettable, as was the place and service and I still want my Friday night and my $100 back. What a colossal waste of time and energy.

(2)Daniel D.
Service was excellent to say the least. Sushi was on point and the drinks were strong. No complaints at all. At night it turns into a nightclub and the music is awesome. One of the best lounges in Denver. Would definitely come back again.
(5)Carol F.
Go for the sushi and the champagne. Skip the fillet.,Fillet arrived overcooked (grey inside) so I sent it back. Soon another overcooked fillet arrived. Waiter and manager both explained away the sad state of the meat by explaining that they use a sous vide cooker. Unfortunately, this means that it wasn't an off night. it was an actual choice. I'm told the sushi was good. Warning for guys. Bathroom doesn't have enough a door. Seriouly. Turn a corner and there are the urinals. Very odd place.
(2)Deborah B.
Great atmosphere. We came right after happy hour so they seemed preoccupied getting the restaurant ready for the night crowd after happy hour and forgot about the dinner folks, like us. Food was good, the small plates are actually really large! Oysters were ok, but we had to ask for dressings for them. Sushi rolls were good, but if I was going to spend the money then next time I would probably pick Izakaya Den. Great cocktails though. Sounds like happy hour is the time to check it out, but if you go around dinner make sure to check in on Yelp and you get 15% off!
(3)Megan S.
Great spot for a pre-show dinner and drinks. Surprisingly not crowded for a Friday at 6pm. The happy hour menu is great- try the truffle mac and cheese for sure. Our server (Tyler?) was great and attentive. Would recommend!
(5)Melanie G.
I find myself coming here more and more. At first I didn't know what to think but lately I've found myself choosing to eat or drink here almost weekly. Excellent staff, great crowd, and always just a fun time. Their management is incredibly involved and friendly and it shows! I can''t review a specific experience because I've been here so often lately, but I will say I came here for Happy Hour before seeing Motown: The Musical and the sushi was on point. Definitely try that here. Also, I've heard raves about the warm spinach salad. Stop in and see for yourself!
(5)Leslie H.
Patio is great. Sushi is average, shrimp cocktail was awful. After politely telling server about out the shrimp that tasted old and dry he said he'd tell the chef. I expected the normal apology or offer to replace it with something else, but the server never followed up. Fail. If you're in the mood for a bite before a show this place will do in a pinch, but certainly not a destination if you're not already in the area.
(2)Shea C.
My friends and I came here from out of town due to a deal we got on Living Social. However there was an event going on that cost $20 at the door. After speaking to the owner, he waved us in, and even bought us an entrée of yellow tail! The sushi was very good and so was the service.
(5)Alice G.
I ate at Epernay about one year ago, and again tried to eat there tonight. It is no longer a restaurant, but a bar. Please keep that in mind. It is a bar with very loud music and no real dining service available. Tables that are available are lounge style and it is not conducive to talking. I would call this a bar for the happy hour crowd or the 20's set. A bar that serves sushi. Just know that when you're headed there. We actually left and went across the street to the Oceanaire for a grown ups dinner.
(2)Jennifer A.
(1)Ethan N.
(3)Annette R.
It's a good place!

Something wrong on the list? Bad everything for 3 years!!!! Never more!!!!!!!
(1)Michael H.
(5)Aileen D.
(4)Alissa R.
(4)Amanda G.
We had a discount so we tried this place on Friday. We really liked this place. I'm not sure it's entirely worth the full price but everything we had was quite good. We really like the new style sashimi and the service was great.
(4)Eloy A.
Stopped in for happy hour food and drink. Exactly what I expected. Wine list is robust with a solid selection of red versus white wines. Good sake list and champagne selection as well. Happy hour food menu was good and not too pricy.
(3)Lisette M.
(3)Kane P.
Swanky little place. I like the bartenders and the drinks were reasonable. I'll have to check out this place for dinner soon. They also had a good DJ on Saturday.
(4)Jeremy L.

(5)R. W.

Great service! Two favorite items were tuna sashimi with blue cheese foam and pork belly mac n cheese!
(4)Shaunda F.

Prior to a DPAC show we decided to stop into Epernay Lounge for a drink and some munchies. We've walked by here enough to be intrigued by the posh atmosphere. We were able to snatch the last two seats at the bar, the very busy bar. We waited a considerable amount of time to be acknowledged and then an extremely long time to actually receive our first round of drinks. We ordered a round of martinis to start; the only flavor I tasted was sweet and not much else. We decided on a few things to eat, the stuffed mushrooms, tuna roll and a half dozen of oysters. The food was very disappointing in presentation and in taste. Mushrooms were anything but stuffed, a piece of cheese melted on top of a mushroom. The fact that they arrived 30 seconds after we ordered meant they were not cooked to order and were waiting under a heat lamp. Served lukewarm at best and became cold within minutes. The tuna roll was basic, but the tuna was chopped up and had a pastelike texture and not appetizing at all. The oysters were fine, I've definitely had better. The accompaniments were served without a utensil so we had difficulty putting anything on our oysters. The oysters were also not cleaned properly and had a lot of grit and were not enjoyable. The saving grace was that fact that their HH includes half off Champagne by the glass and we both had an excellent glass of Champagne that was normally $22 per glass for $11 each. Now that's a worth while HH deal. We were both very pleased with this deal. My recommendations for Epernay: 1. Have more bartenders during peak times to accommodate the rush, people will be much happier with service, will stay longer and order more. 2. If you're going to offer food it should be excellent and be executed well. If you can't do that, don't offer food and save yourself the trouble. 3. First impressions are everything, especially in CO with so many other options in close proximity. Your first impression was lack luster and for that reason it's not likely I'll return.
(2)Stephanie P.
Love coming to this place! Everyone is so welcoming and so friendly! I love coming here for their drinks and desserts! If you're dropping by for a drink, make sure you meet Michael and Caleb. Favorite bartenders I have ever met!!
(5)Aaron V.
(4)Kelsey W.
Not very impressed. The service was great but we weren't very happy with the food... Also when we walked in at 8, there was only 1 other table so that may have "killed it" for me. Great service, friendly staff, but not very good food/atmosphere.
(3)Rudy C.
(5)Katie E.

Went here last weekend for a friend's birthday party. I didn't know that this was a restaurant during the day until half way in the night. But I did enjoy the atmosphere at night. It felt very upscale and everyone was dressed nicely. Drinks are a bit high, but expected that night as I walked into the nice lounge. There were plenty of booths, which I liked, since a lot of places don't offer that many in regards to seating. It was packed, but the night I went, but not overly so where I was always shouldering someone trying to dance. Great place to hang out at night with friends and enjoy a good evening!

Very lively bar/club/lounge scene! GREAT service and very fun atmosphere! I look forward to coming back!

This is the place for friends and style. The drinks are fabulous and we enjoyed the food. I recommend the sushi and green chili egg rolls.

Great Happy Hour. See my tip. You never know who you might meet, and what random notes you might get (I did not write the note in the pic, lol).
(5)Charles B.

(3)Kristine N.

(3)Emily S.

Service was excellent to say the least. Sushi was on point and the drinks were strong. No complaints at all. At night it turns into a nightclub and the music is awesome. One of the best lounges in Denver. Would definitely come back again.
(5)Msi D.

(5)Deborah B.

Some coworkers and I stopped in after dinner to enjoy a cocktail before going to bed. The place was empty and I couldn't figure out why as the staff was really nice, the atmosphere was great and the drink list was extensive...how can you go wrong with a champagne bar?

Terrific atmosphere and staff! A truly BEAUTIFUL space.

Great spot for a pre-show dinner and drinks. Surprisingly not crowded for a Friday at 6pm. The happy hour menu is great- try the truffle mac and cheese for sure. Our server (Tyler?) was great and attentive. Would recommend!
