Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!! YUCK!!! this place was disgusting! the menudo was flavorless even a menudo out of a can is better then here. I saw some good reviews so decided to give this place a try. the food tasted old and my tacos were burnt when I told the waitress she yelled at me and said thats the way they make tacos. I've never seen a taco that had so much burnt cheese on it that all the tacos were stuck together. she yelled at me for about 5 min and then said if I didnt like the tacos then i shouldnt of touched them that way they could give them to someone else. I was shocked because regardless if i touched them or not thats a health code violation to give somebody else a plate that was delivered to my table. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! NO FLAVOR! and they only accept cash.

Doesn't even deserve a single star. What other people see in it I am not figuring out. Had a couple bites of our food and had to go somewhere else. Complete waste of money, time, and ingredients. The service was terrible as well. Everyone working there treated us like crap and were extremely ornery when we sent back our disgusting food.... Go elsewhere!!!

Best greasy tacos in Denver. If you get a chance, their bacon is on point. They actually have Tang on the menu. Crazy cool.

El Toro...what can I say. The steak tacos are good and take heed my dear yelpers, greasy is a perfect adjective for them. The bar is stocked and the beer flows easily. The menu is small, with burritos and tacos a plenty . The gringo breakfast will set u back about 5 bucks and get u enough food to leave a grown man satisfied. There is no children's menu but they do have Tang. Menudo and red beer is the breakfast of champions on a Sunday morning with a hangover to cure. The decor is...almost like the bar in the movie dusk til dawn...almost. Word.

This place is off the chain GREAT! They are known for their greasy tacos and menudo and that is what I stick to! Their red chile enchiladas are a miss, coagulated blood looking red chile is not my thing, but hey, whatever. The place is a total dive, but isn't that usually where the good food is?

Start with a mini pitcher (if you like your Budweiser with tomato juice, ask for it red) , get a few steak tacos (fried), and a bowl of green chile (not too spicy) with beans underneath. You'll appear to be a regular like everyone else. Don't let the area (sketchy) deter you. Bring cash (no credit cards accepted) and note the limited kitchen hours.

They have the best greasy tacos ever! We both got combo tacos and chili cheese fries to share and it was awesome! I liked the chicken the best. Hubby liked them all. We'll be back!

Don't let the location fool ya! Gringo breakfast with bacon is bomb if you're not into tacos and menudo. For myself it's bowl of menudo with tacos! My tradition is to eat the tacos over the bowl of menudo... let the drippings fall into the menudo! YUMMY!

This is a great hole in the wall Mexican restaurant, I've lived in the area my whole life and never knew it was right down the street from me. I visited for the first time on Sunday and was very skeptical when I walked in, but after a few minutes I was already being seen by a waitress. Normally I can only get menudo on Sundays around here but come to find out they serve it everyday of the week! So after being helped by a waitress right away I had already been surprised considering there were only two servers and a house full of customers. I asked the server for a bowl of menudo, a Mexican hamburger for my girl and a pint of menudo for takeout once I was done with my meal. My food arrived promptly after ordering and was absolutely amazing, yet again with a house full of customers I had been taken care of by my waitress often to refill our drinks and make sure our meal was good. Around the end of my meal my waitress walked up with my takeout and informed me that someone had decided to pay for our meal!? I was completely baffled by this gesture. Why another customer paid for our meal I do not know but I am certainly grateful. I made sure to tip my waitress heavily as should you. All in all this is one of my favorite places to goto now. Great homemade mexican food! Awesome customer service! And very thoughtful patrons! This has to be one of Denver's hidden gems!

I have been going to El Toro for YEARS and you cannot beat it for the best authentic greasy Mexican food. The steak tacos are out of this world. I always get a side of their potatoes and yummy enchiladas! Atmosphere is hilarious - very dive and you can buy interesting items at check out counter ... maybe you need a faucet? LOL! You have to go and try it!

I'm a glutton for greasy Mexican Tacos and this place has the good stuff. Had a cheese enchilada that was meh, but the tacos made up for it. If you're looking for something remotely healthy, or are turned off by grease, look elsewhere. If you're in need of a delicious greasy taco that melts in your mouth, check El Toro out. It's a diamond in the rough. Bar is open late but the food stops after lunch.

Wow! That was honestly the worst taco I have ever had. It was amazingly terrible. No, really! I recommend stopping in to El Toro to experience the most horrible thing ever. Tell your friends and family. Seriously. I got a beef taco and enchilada to go and I was absolutely floored when I unwrapped my taco and began the awful task of sliding the taco-flavored grease schlop down my gullet. It was so impossibly greasy that my teeth slipped off of it when I tried to chew. So here is how they accomplish the impossible: They construct a taco on an uncooked tortilla -- beef, cheese, etc. Then they take the whole thing and put it in the deep-fryer. Then they take it out and place it directly onto....no, not a napkin or paper towel, which would remove the excess grease....no, they place it onto aluminum foil, trapping all of the greasy awfulness in a wet, steaming pile. After downing the taco, I aprehensively tried the enchilada. Somehow, it also tasted horribly greasy. I'm not sure if it was truly greasy or if I was still tasting the world's worst taco. Honestly, my mouth was so greased up it was still slippery 8 hours later. But at least my joints were lubed up and moving freely. Somehow customers keep coming back for this stuff. I will not. But I do hope you try it. You will regret it, but at least you'll be able to brag that you've had the worst taco on the planet. El Toro, I award you only one star, not that you care.

A friend of mine that I've been friend's with since grade school had come here every Sunday he could (which was most Sundays btw) for probably... well over 25years???? He doesn't come here on Sundays anymore.... Now he shows up on Saturday. I missed him by a day! Once again we played the CC sneak and it was a blast and like last year we came here to celebrate... with a greasy taco (only 1/2 of one this time : ( but I still had to have my Gringo Breakfast w/bacon, smothered hot. Where do they get that damn bacon? Annnnd, they still do the friggin' best damn greasy taco in town! What no menudo? No bueno. No room in the stomach. Next week. Probably Saturday. Hello old friends! veinticuatro.

Terrible food and service. Menu read "Mexican hamburger", and I ordered fries. Perfect opportunity for the server to tell me it was a hamburger patty wrapped in a tortilla. Disgusting.

So unhealthy but sooo yummy! Steak tacos is where it's at. been going here since I was a kid and the same ladies still serve there, they are sweet too. Friendly and fast service even if it's busy!

Another WOW! The beef tacos are greasy, but the reason? The beef, chile and cheese are placed in an (un-fried) corn tortilla and fried in oil but quick. The result? The best ground beef taco you have ever had! I was looking at some of the ratings. The chile to me is more like gringo style. I'm use to the gravy thicker sauce (chile stew) type chile. But make no mistake! The menudo is the best in town! The closest is Mexico City on Larimer street down town which is Ed's (el toro) brother. Esther (ed's daughter) is the best waitress in the Denver Metro area! THAT my friend is no B.S.! She will have your order there in minutes, and I'm not talking about 30 + minutes!

When they say hot, they mean it. Green chili was great. Tacos excellent. Tostada good, mainly because of the tortilla. Burrito was run-of-the-mill. Son ranks meat options: 1) Steak, 2) Chicken, 3) Beef . Big screen TV had Jerry Springer, which suited both the clientele and staff. If you gotta go, hold it. There's only one way to cure the mens room: Burn it down.

AKA Greasy Taco. My coworkers were raving about this place just north of the on-ramp I-70. It was crazy. I think they make the tacos and then put them in the fryer. then add some lettuce and tomato, put them on a plate and watch the grease collect. It drips off the taco. The cheese gets burned and crunchy on the edges....like with grilled cheese. I guess they have other stuff on the menu, but the tacos are where it's at.
