Outdated and grimy looking but hey went there for the food not the ambiance. Great burger get the junior if it's your first time!! Definitely will be back, beats the chains hand down and possibly even the cricket!!

Junior Royal Pastrami for $3.49. Oh, yes. The burger itself is nothing special. Beef cooked on a grill to the hot and juicy stage. Good, but not fantastic. Then you add special sauce and hot, thinly sliced pastrami and it becomes superlative. It is obvious that the owners and workers enjoy their stint behind the counter and over the grill. You eat here because the food is good and it is a wonderful slice of Americana.

It's been a few years since I've been to Crown Burgers, but we've been doing our own little "best burger" evaluation, so we decided to stop by this location on Colorado Blvd. The first thing you always see in these places is that they are a slightly clean, greasy spoon. Walk to the counter, order up and wait. Cheeseburger - This burger was pretty good. I got the junior so it was the perfect size for me. I like how the bun was soft and thin. Pastrami Burger - DBF got this. Personally, the bite I had I wasn't impressed but I'm not sure if I'm a pastrami fan, so I'm not using my opinion in the star rating. He said it was really good, but a little messy. Fries - Good if you like think cut fries. I'm ok with them and would have liked a little thinner, but that's just a matter of preference. They were cooked good and crispy though so that was a plus. Service - Kid was very friendly and happy. It's a little refreshing in places like this as I wonder how rewarding it could be working here. Big Minus for Me...Styrofoam cups. Seriously? It's 2012 and we live in Denver. Those things wreak havoc on our planet. They can't be cheaper then alternatives. Please folks, just put a touch of effort into keeping up with the times. The final verdict is that there is a good chance we could go back. I would love to try their grilled cheese and maybe some baklava. I just hope they green up the restaurant a bit.

Fast paced, sit down, fast food? Weird looking place. But, the food is GOOD! 3.99 specials. Gyro, fries, drink. Not a bad deal. Also, tastes damn good. Pay extra for feta, but they sure give you a healthy serving packed with flavor!! They also have burgers and burritos. Stop by for a quick, well worth bite.

This is a great stop if you are in the hood, 3.99 for a gyros fries and a drink...? You can't beat it. Also try there famous pastrami burger...yummmm

Frozen french fries, frozen onion rings, frozen buns - do I need to go on...? Okay - there are so many better burger places in Denver; your burger fix is better served at HBurger or Park Burger!!!

Yum! Love the Fries! Lots of menu choices The burgers were very good! Great place for a quick meal or if you have a hangover! We ate here yesterday and got it to go, no complaints- service was nice and the food was good!

Crown Burgers has definitely earned the crown in my opinion. I always go with the double bacon cheeseburger and it never disappoints. Big thin patties always charred to perfection with heaps and heaps of beastly bacon with cheese melting off the sides. It's the real deal. And the dressing on em is perfect. Always juicy and have the perfect amount of grease. This is definitely my go to spot for a powerful burger. Loss of a star because sometimes the buns don't seem as fresh and fall apart (rarely but it happens) and the fries aren't spectacular. Good fries, just don't stack up to the burger. Thanks Crown Burgers. Thanks.

If you like Diners Drive-Ins and Dives (or just checking out divey places) this is a must-try. Simply amazing, homemade burgers. And the staff are amazingly friendly and make you feel like family. Love Crown Burger!

In a word: Terrible. It took 20 minutes of waiting in a hot, stuffy restaurant for one of the most pathetic excuses for a gyro I have ever had. Pita was dry and overloaded with tons of feta to make up for the tiny bit of meat they put on it. You could literally count the pieces of meat on it--four in total. Just pathetic!! My wife had a burger and her reaction was "it's OK." For a place calling itself "Crown Burgers," an "OK" burger is not what should be expected. So if you're driving by and thinking about going here, just keep on driving. Not worth your time or money.

First time eating here tonight. Bathrooms were out of order so we decided to take it to go. Was a little worried but once we got home all my worries went out the door. The burger was amazing!!! It was juicy, fresh toppings and just delicious. Fries were crispy and hot and great as well. Can't wait to come back, I will sure be eating at Crown Burger often.

Heard about this on the Dennis Miller Radio show--Dennis was raving about the location in Utah. Finally got around to going here, grabbing burgers and baklava to go for the family. Well, the kids don't pull any punches when it comes to praise or criticism of cheeseburgers. They unanimously said it was one of the best burgers ever! Loved the service as well, they were very friendly upon pickup. It's about 60 minutes away from where we live, but if in the area, we'll be coming back, again and again and...

I'm truly surprised I agreed to go eat at Crown Burger. I'm not snobby when it comes to eating out. I totally obey the five second rule when food falls on the ground. Crown Burger's one of those run down joints that I didn't expect much out of and I didn't read the reviews before coming. I didn't even know it was a fast food place. My boyfriend got the double bacon cheeseburger with everything which was delicious with the special sauce. I got the single cheeseburger with K-YM-O-P. We both got fries. Food came fast and it went down faster. The fries are incredible but my cheeseburger left a lot to be desired, too much bread and not a ton of flavor. We were in and out in less than half an hour and spent about $15.00 with water as our drinks. I'm torn after reading Bryan B's review below but those fries were damn good...

The first time I wondered into Crowne Burger I was not impressed with the inside, it was straight out of the 70s and seemed cluttered and dirty. However, I had a hankering for a Gyros and the one I got was pretty good. The next time I visited I had placed a carryout order over the phone. When I arrived they had the food ready. This is where the faint of heart should stop reading. . . Once I got home and opened my dinner I saw a tiny cockroach run accross my food. I was utterly disgusted, threw out the food and vowed never to return. DINERS BE WARE!!

Specifically and medically not for the weak of heart, but a Crown Burger is a sweet way to get your artery clog on, and with gusto. The burgers are awesome, with your standard fries/onion ring accessories, and their homebrew special dipping sauce is somewhere between ketchup and crack. I love that you can get all kinds of burger top add-ons, from your standard bacon or guacamole, to pastrami, all the way to an open-faced green chili nightmare. Aforementioned green chili is pretty good, considering this is not a mexican restaurant; the owner is Greek, and Greek fare is here and there on the menu, with gyros, baklava, and such. The combination of the green chili and gyros makes for one of my favorite breakfast meals: a monstrous burrito filled with gyros, green chili, eggs, cheese, and hash browns. Prepare yourself for an immediate nap, because it *will* put you down, if you dare to consume the entire affair. You can even order this monstrosity at a drive-thru, which means you don't even have to leave your pajamas. Or so I've heard. If you choose to go inside, be prepared for a bit of surreal: I don't think the decor or supplies have changed since the Seventies. Styrofoam cups, orange and brown everywhere, and ketchup and mustard squeezers to clutter your table.

Crown Burgers does everything RIGHT that the BIG CHAIN restaurants do WRONG. People that eat at McDonald's can shampoo my crotch.

Pastrami on a burger? Holy hell does it work well. Also this place serves yum-tastic steak fries. I'm finding this place to be a new addiction. Service is so fast I swear they must go through flux capacitors left and right. Friendly staff too. Inside dining is ok, nothing special besides all booth seating portions are large for the price. well worth giving it a try, you can be shy and go through the drive-thru and enjoy tasty eats at home! Plus you don't have to wear pants at home, so double bonus.

Double burger with cheese and fries is a can't miss. Tasty burgers. Good deals. Consistently tasty. Stop by when I'm in the mood for a decent fast food burger.

I think burger joints that are old are going to have amazing seasoned grills but this place is just jinky. We ordered the pastrami burger, gyro and green chili fries. Pastrami burger was salty but bland if that makes any sense (more salt than seasoning), gyro was dry and the green chili fries were boring. The only cute thing was they gave the little chooch some bacon. But seriously this place should be bulldozed over w. blue moon.

This place is filthy. Flies and other insects are everywhere. The tables and floors and chairs all feel greasy and disgusting. I walked in here expecting to order a delicious burger and within 5 minutes I could not imagine ordering anything. Not even a soda! I left (ran). I got a burrito, somewhere else. How this place stays open is a mystery to me. Then again, people everywhere eat a lot of crap. Oh well!
(1)

It is your typical dive place. I came here on the quest for the best burger in Denver. It is not the cleanest place and would remind you of a fast food joint from the 80's. The burgers are big and awesome, the fries are tasty, and the milkshake was good too. The price is less than most other places and the offer gyros and burritos as well.
(4)
Adam K.
Love me some Crown Burger!! I usually get their breakfast burrito with the green chili inside. Its the size of a Chipotle burrito but filled with breakfast deliciousness! And I can get it drive thru for about $4.50. Its my hangover cure of choice!!

There are certain foods I've always been on a quest to find the "best of", and when I first stumbled across Crown Burger over 15 years ago, I wasn't expecting to end my quest for the best BLT there. Sure, since then I've had a variety of really good BLTs elsewhere, but they always have a unique spin on them, like avacado, or some type of cheese - but then it's a BLAT, or a BLCT, or some other funky acronym based on the original. I always go back to the Crown Burger BLT. The bread is always perfectly toasted with just the right amount of mayo, bacon crispy and crunchy, lettuce crisp, tomatoes plumpy and ripe. About six months ago, my teenage daughter became obsessed with BLTs. Over winter break I finally introduced her to a Crown Burger BLT - she concurred. Oh yeah, their burgers are great too. They offer a unique variety of burgers, but I'm more of a plain cheeseburger kind of gal, and enjoy the junior cheeseburger with all the fixins' that go with it. Sure, the interior is definitely dated, but it adds a certain charm to the place. Besides, updating the decor isn't going to make already great food taste any better. And every time I've gone into Crown Burger, it's always been clean. I'll have to agree with Steve B. on this one - "old" does not mean "dirty."

Here is where it gets good: Quarter-pounder with cheese, fries and drink (10 cents extra for a huge azz cup ya heard) for UNDER FIVE DOLLARS.
(5)
Tommy S.
It's good but not great. The inside looks like what I would expect from looking at the outside. It's actually pretty clean but it seems dirty due to the very old furniture and counters. The burgers would be much better if they had higher quality buns. They are too small for the big patties. The gyro is quite good too. French fries, meh. Worth a look if you wanna remember the old guard of fast food.

If you are looking for a greasy, heavy burger then the crown burger is for you. This is not your avg fast food joint. There is so much variety on the menu but I never stray from the fresh cut steak fries & the crown burger, piled high with pastrami, it's delish!! I might have to go get 1 now!!

I used to work here for years. I've known the owners, George & Stella, for almost 11 years. They helped me get thru college & I loved working there. The food I never got sick of even after seeing, smelling, cooking & tasting for all the years. There are so many things made from scratch which is something you don't see very often. The green chili, the onion rings, salads, "secret sauce" & there breakfast burritos are to DIE for!! If you got a hangover this is what you need to help that rumble in your tummy! They serve breakfast till 11am which a lot of people don't know about. They also have awesome Gyros (the G is silent people)! Oh and Stella makes Baklava thats out of this world! The joint has been there for about 12 years now I think & it's not going anywhere anytime soon. If you happen to stop in say hey to George...he's the short dude with white hair. Tell him I sent ya!!

I wanted to like this place; really I did! I waited a very long time (and yes, I understand that lunch rush is a bad time to go to a place), but once we got our food, I really wasn't that impressed. I'm a burger fiend, and knowing how great the burgers are in Denver, I expected a lot. I was disappointed by the commercial frozen patty with no char and pile of shredded lettuce that I got. At least the steak fries were good

Crown Burger is a phenomenon. Walking into the joint is like stepping into a movie set. Everything looks completely familiar, but not quite from any actual experience you've had. The bright pumpkin orange booths, the brown tile floor, the old register counter ... all form the grungy patina of authenticity. This is fast food, yes, but from a slower time. I couldn't make sense of the menu at first, having grown accustomed to the orderly McRows of options we all see in every chain. The young woman behind the counter got me oriented pretty quickly: "Have you tried the Royal Burger? It's pastrami on a cheeseburger." Holy crap. That sounds ... amazing. "I might like fries, but do you have onion rings?" ... "I can have half and half?" God o-mighty. The TV in the corner plays the 49ers game, while a patron watches. He's got good hair. I walk by with my soda in a Styrofoam cup (I didn't know they still made those). He looks at me; I look at him; he looks at the TV; I look at his hair. He's got really good hair, like that guy from the Camel cigarette ads in the early 80's ... always camping by a river and smoking. I put my stuff on the table and make for the restroom to wash my hands. There's a sports section lying spread eagle in the stall, and maybe a little more "authenticity" than I expected. They call my number and it's time to try the signature burger.... It was ... okay. That's it. I like the concept, but the delivery was just so-so. I guess I'm in love with being in love with this burger more than the burger itself. The onion rings were different, almost interesting, but kind of bland. The fries were forgettable ... just those steak-cut things with little personality, like that little round-headed kid you grew up with but never thought of twice until I just now reminded you. I will go back to see what else is on the menu. I give it three stars because I believe you should do the same, but with no illusions.

My wife and I ate here yesterday. I got the Double Royal burger without the veggies and sauce, onion rings and a coke. Had I realized the burger was almost a pound itself (literally), I could have skipped the onion rings. At first I thought a pastrami burger was going to taste weird, but it was really good. The onion rings I thought left a little bit to be desired. They used real onions, but there was virtually no flavor at all to them. My wife had steak fries with her meal, which were good, but how screw up steak fries, really? The interior of the restaurant was older, but I view that as a plus. I love retro dining rooms, and if the quality of the food is good, who cares. Overall, it was a really good experience, and I will go back.

Horrible. This place was good many moons ago, now not so great. The food had no seasonings at all, no salt,no Nada. The place was dirty and smelly to boot. Too bad I used to love the food here.

ok....so YUMMY burgers, and i'm a burger fanatic.....used to go here all the time, if fact i craved it when i was preggers. BUT....the staff sucks. seriously, the drive thru people need new jobs, cause apparently, they hate the one they have. every time i ask for their "special sauce," which is probably just ketchup and mayo (like no one's ever tried that before), they sigh and act like i'm taking their new puppy. so sorry, but i like that stuff.....not paying $8 for a burger without it!

If you're craving fast food, skip supporting mega-chains with irritating hip-hoppity commercials that interrupt your radio listening experience to try to convince you that their cheap burger and grease fried potato strips are better than their competitor's cheap burgers and grease fried potato strips- go to Crown Burger for a burger and a blast from the past. This humble burger/taco/etc joint is a refugee from modern design and modern surly, acne-pocked teenagers to take your orders. A pleasant middle aged woman recommended the Royal Burger- seems like that's their first suggestion to everyone. I wasn't entirely impressed, but the onion rings were delicious, for onion rings. The burger was good, but I don't know that the pastrami on a burger thing works very well- it's like a sandwich trying to be a burger trying to be a sandwich. However, the meat is much juicier than big fast food will get you, and everyone is very friendly. It's not exactly a meal to write home about, but it's comfort food of a different kind- burgers that actually taste like the burgers you remember from your childhood.

My theory is a burger joint can't really let you down. With their flat grills and deep fried goodness, how can you go wrong. I found out yesterday. Starved and just off a plane we stop in seen two things we love. Burgers and pastrami! All under on roof! So we order the Pastrami burger, Gyro (I know...why...we always try out strange things hoping to find that needle in a haystack) and chili fries. Gyro...no bueno. Gamey, dry, and just off. I don't blame them for that though, I should have known better. The pastrami was just okay and the burger was flat, no real taste. No zing in the dressing, no pop from the pastrami. I just felt like we were eating in black and white. The chili fries were just fat potatoes fries with enchilada sauce over them. Really sad because we had so much hope for this place. But they did give our dog a piece of bacon which was great. I gave you a one star but Ramsey kept barking until I up'd you to two.

you craving a burger or gyro? stop at crown burger. they make everything to order so the food is always fresh and they mak sure your order is right! i ordered a gyro there recently and was so so so pleasantly surprised! the burgers don't disappoint either... god, my mouth is watering just thinking about this place.

Pretty damn good! This is a Mexican/Greek/American fusion fast-food restaurant. I would highly recommend the bacon-cheeseburger and get some extra secret sauce on the side if you order the steak-fries. I've heard that the pastrami burger is amazing. I'm not a fan of pastrami, so I've yet to stray from the bacon-cheeseburger.

4 1/2 stars! A decently priced, greasy, tasty, old school burger. Well done. Beat's the heck out of all these new re-invented old time burger joints like Smashburger, etc.

The best breakfast sandwich in town we do the thank you breakfasts from thier George is loud but you gotta love him hang in there Stella You can't beat the food prices and quality in town. Hope your here for a long time the rest of the menu is great you can not go wrong here.

I've gone to this place recently. I think their burgers are about a 3. But anything with pastrami is incredible. It's the best pastrami I've had ever. If you like pastrami, this is the place to get it. Also the best onion rings ever. Not soggy, very crunchy. Onion is crisp and great flavor, not just an oily flavor. That's why I go there. I might try a burger once in a while, but so hard when the pastrami is incredible. Jason's Deli was the former pastrami place for me.

I was looking for a bite to eat and found this little place. I ordered their mushroom and Swiss Burger and found it to be quite delicious. The streak fries are flash fried and tasty. The people were hospitable and easy going, found it east to strike up a conversation with them. They know the regulars well enough and I felt at home here. Tasty food, and nice service, I approve!

WARNING This review is not for the faint of heart. Seriously I probably will get a heart attack. The breakfast burrito here is ridiculously amazing! It's greasy, it's (chipotle) humongous, and to top it off its splashy. I order the bacon burro with chili inside and every bite was good. The ending was sad and guilty. I feel gluttony and fat. I'll do it again! $5 breakfast burro with chili

I love the double royal burger. You get a lot of food for the cost. The double royal burger is mouthwatering to say the least. I have yet to try the gyros even the reviews are really great. Once again, this family owned place beats any of the chains that I have tried. That is my story and and I am sticking to it!!

You have to kind of be into roadhouse eats to dig this place. Thankfully I am into that kind of thing, so it's a good fit for me. In the same tradition as Griff's or the now defunct Tammy's, Crown Burger serves up a heaping mess of a burger on a huge sesame seed bun. They are famous for their pastrami burger. Yes, you read that right, pastrami burger. Made to order fast, Crown Burger defines the term "short order cook" with precision. Fries, rings, shakes and soft drinks are all standard. It's counter service and they call your number when your order is up. They also serve up a decent gyro sandwich. The only warning I would issue is they are a bit heavy on the sauces, in the case of the burger it's a burger sauce which I think is ketchup, mustard and mayo, so If you like to condiment-ize in a more personal way, I would suggest asking them to hold the sauce. Support small, locally owned businesses, have a Crown Burger today!

I love this place. Whether it's the double royal burger or a gyro. The staff is great, the Greek lady at the register always remembers my family, make us feel like we are part of the crown burger family. It never fails the food is great and service always hits the mark for me. If you find your craving a awesome greesy burger or gyro and you are close to this place they don't disappoint. I also enjoy the baklava!

I was shocked to stumble on Crown Burgers. I used to eat at Crown Burgers in Salt Lake City and while I would never call it a great restaurant, it is a good burger place. I didn't even know they had a location in Denver. They are known for their pastrami burger...but I don't care that much for it. I do like their regular burger and their fries. In Utah they are very well known, have several locations and have even been called the best hamburger in Utah. I think that is stretching it...but they are a very good hole in the wall burger joint.
(4)

I went to Crown Burger on a recommendation by a highly respected foodie. I am honestly disappointed. I was told they had some of the best burgers in Denver. Ehhh, not so much. We walked in and I noticed this is a Greek restaurant. Why are they known for their burgers then? I ordered a regular cheeseburger and Brian got the Royal burger with pastrami. The lady at the register (might be the owner) suggested the Royal burger, saying that is what they specialize in. We got the home fries to share and were off and running. My burger was bland. It lacked more than flavor, it didn't even look appealing. Brian's Royal burger however, did look enticing and rather large. He loved it and and boy was it messy. The fries were boring as well and needed some seasoning. After realizing this is a Greek restaurant, I will try the gyro next time with a side of baklava. Overall, I was not impressed, but I will go back to try something other than the burgers.

Since my last review years ago, things have improved dramatically. Great burgers, great fries, and the best breakfast in town for the money.

So when you drive up to Crown Burgers you are instantly greeted with that old school burger joint feeling. Large giant advertisements painted on the windows, and on the inside you'll see the classic plastic bench seats and raised tables. Step right up to the counter and order your food, grab your ketchup bottle and wait for your number to be called. We ordered 2 burger combos, and a side of onion rings cooked crispy. Total $14. 10 minutes later the food was done, my number was called, and we sat down to eat. The burgers are down-right charbroiled greatness complete with the sauce that you would expect from a classic burger joint. Not greasy and cooked just right. The steak fries are flash fried, golden crisp on the outside, and moist and hot on the inside. The fries are definitely not your typical precooked Red Robin fries that have been lying under a heat lamp. There is nothing like freshly cooked steak fries! The onion rings were cooked just right, nice and crispy, yet not overcooked. The breading on the onion rings was just right, not too little and not too much. Overall this place serves great tasty food at a very reasonable price. They serve perfectly sized potions leaving you satisfied and not wanting more. On our way out we even overheard a customer saying "I don't think I can ever get tired of eating your burgers". Well guess what, I don't think I will either. I will go back over and over again. Well done Crown Burgers! There is a new "King" in town!

Where can you get dinner for under $5 drinks included while enjoying a combination of old time burger shack flavors with a twist of Greek? For $4.99 sandwich, fries and drink seems almost too good to be true. Then consider your sandwich choices are an old school 100% beef quarter pounder with heaps of shredded lettuce, a slab of tomato and special sauce or a gyro with big chunks of tomato and yummy tzadiki sauce. Cheese is a bit extra, but feta is definitely worth a shot. Not just behind the counter, but a breath of fresh air with always a welcome, don't forget to blow Sarah a kiss. You may just get her to giggle. You would never know from driving by, but this place is a cult classic. If you feel uncomfortable just spending $5 than definitely try the double royal monster burger with heaps of juicy pastrami that compliments the two beef patties. Best heart attack on a plate ever. If you drive by with out a try you are missing out!

Nice menu delivering good burgers by a great staff without the snooty hipster vibe of all the new 12 dollar (park, lark, illegal...) burger joints around popping up. I had the royal cheeseburger with a half pound of pastrami on it! Better than expected.
(4)
Sam K.
everyone is missing out! yea yea the royal pastrami burger is the bomb- but breakfast is probably the best and last real breakfast you can buy in a fast food setting! the breakfast sandwich is the best- i like the sausage and i always ask for the green chilli on it! remember! ask for the green chilli on it!

Good not great. After reading all the great reviews, I was so excited to try. Fries were undercooked and the burger was mediocre. Wasn't worth $10 for basically a double cheeseburger combo. Sadly I won't be back unless it was to give breakfast a try. Love supporting local businesses and glad they're doing well, but not good enough for this burger lover to venture back.

I really like this place. It's a hole in the wall with quality steak fries, burgers , and outstanding giros. Give them a shot!

Great fresh sandwiches. Been a customer for 25 years!!! Georgie does an amazing job!

The food tasted good. However, the restaurant is always in disorder, ( sticky floors, unwipped tables, general messyness) The cook was using his cell phone while he made my gyro which I feel is very unsanitary! Ive been going here for years and the PASTRAMI Burger keeps me going back even though I refuse to eat inside.

This little spot is pretty quick and I defiantly think better than any McD or BK. I went for lunch today and got a Jr. burger, fries and a cherry coke. The lady behind the counter was nice and saw my friend opening her gift for her birthday today, and gave her a free cookie. It was pretty soft and a nice little treat. The burger wasn't the best I had ever had, but it wasn't the worst. The lettuce and onion were fresh, I prefer no tomatoes. I assume if I got a quarter pound burger it would have been a bit thicker. (I will try next time) I liked the steak fries and mine were so hot I had to wait a few to eat (perfect!) My friend always orders the Tuna Melt when she goes, and that looked tasty. They also have fry sauce, which is her favorite! It is an old building and I'm sure could use some work, but it didn't make me feel unwelcome. It was a bit hot in there (I felt bad for the kitchen ppl) not sure how good the AC works. I probably smell like greasy food now, but you can't go into a little greasy food place without expecting some grease, right?!

On the hunt to find a quick and delicious burger that isn't Mcdonalds but isn't a sit down restaurant serving you a $15 burger. And I have finally found that charbroiled mouthwatering piece of goodness!! $5.66 for the quarter lunch special - burger, fries , and a drink - can't beat that! They also serve things like macaroni grilled cheese and are well known for their pastrami burgers. Everything looked and smelled delicious. I can't wait to go back to try something else!!!

Excellent gyros and baklava! Did not expect it! Fries were perfect, so was burger with tons of pastrami. Haven't been here in forever. Cool old building. Food was fresh and delicious.

Get the Royal Burger! If you've never heard of or tried a pastrami burger, you'll be in for a delightful surprise! Think big, juicy cheeseburger with lettuce and a huge (think - 1/2") slice of tomato. Then, ADD a huge pile of good pastrami on top of that (see pic)! You'll have to compress the sandwich just to be able to take a bite! I'll order it sans the tomato just to be able to take a bite without unhinging my jaw! Then there's the Double Royal... I ordered that once, and I'm a big eater! Their steak fries are pretty good, onion rings on the bland side, but come with a "ring sauce" to make up for it. The bottom line is, a Royal Burger, fries and a drink will cost about $10, and leave you stuffed and satisfied.

I've had this place bookmarked for some time thanks to my great Yelp family for always steering me in the right direction. After some much needed shoe shopping at DSW I was looking for a place to grab a quick bite to eat. Being the burger addict that I am I came across this place and decided this would be my dinner. Upon entering this is an old school burger joint. Plastic booths, hand writing orders, calling out orders to the line cooks in that wonderful short hand way, Styrofoam cups, and an al a cart menu. Thankfully I read some of the reviews or I would have ordered way too much food. I went with a Junior Bacon Cheeseburger, an order of onion rings, and a fountain beverage. All of this was under $10, so the price is on point for a solid burger experience. My burger was delicious, I thought the bun was a little dry and that took away from some of awesomeness. Bacon was fresh and crispy and was a thankful addition to the burger. There is only one size for the onion rings or fries and the size is big. The onion rings were piping hot with real onions, none of that fake crap. The onion rings were cornmeal breaded which I love. My one pet peeve is that the rings were not seasoned the slightest, not even a drop of salt. For me any place that uses the fryer needs to season their items even before or after being cooked. You have one chance to season and you missed the boat, one star deduction since this is such an easy step. The service is classic counter service, and it should be known that a lot of regulars come here and are addressed by name by the staff which is an added bonus. A great old school burger joint and worth a visit if you are looking for a juicy and tasty burger in Denver. Yum!

This place is great, five stars for CO place 4 if it was in CA. Lady at the front was very nice, and gave my kid a free cookie. We only had burgers, but I think I will go right now for a breakfast burrito.

This is the closest I've gotten to burgers from my favorite places back home. The decor is nothing to write home about, but the food more than makes up for it. They typically have great specials going if you're looking to save a few bucks, but I recommend the Royal burger in all its pastrami glory.

Crown Bugers is so much better than the national chains. It maybe a little pricey but worth every penny spent there. George and Stella are awsome! Way to go you 2 :)

First time trying this place in hope to find another hole in the wall burger joint but wasn't that satified with the service and overall food. The pastrami burger and onion ring did not taste as expected.

So I FINALLY got over to Crown Burgers for well...a Burger. Well, not just "a burger" but more like the true representation of why Crown Burgers is one of the Kings of my Denver BURGER TIME list. MASSIVE doesn't even start to describe the caloric overload I created in a custom-ordered Yelping Burger frenzy with fellow Denver Yelping Sensation Stephen K. last week (read his awesome review here: yelp.com/biz/crown-burge… ) Let's see if I can accurately remember the TITANIC recipe of ingredients for you... Generous slices of Sauteed Mushrooms secured between two good sized (1/4 lbs ) Burger Patties with an almost hazardous amount of melted, gooey Swiss cheese and also couple pieces of quality BACON for good measure. ----- all this served neatly wrapped for action in an Old Fashioned Paper wrapper. Simply Amazing and possibly unhealthy- but Delicious none the less. No Beer or Alcohol at Crown Burgers-- however if you are ever planning a Hedonistic BurgerFest-- stop by Crown Burgers and order for take away and make sure to ask them to wrap in foil.

Lyou northern Colorado people have a lot to learn about green chili! This is not good green chili, and I have yet to find a place with top notch green chili. Denver has no clue what green chili is supposed to be. Go to George's drive inn, in walsenburg co. That's where good green chili is made. I buy it by the gallon when I'm in huerfano county cause denver knows jack about chili! Also food poisoning is a regular occurrence here!!

Crown Burger is delicious. Seriously. It is a local business that has been serving Denver since 1987. They serve breakfast items, Greek items, Mexican food items and traditional American foodie stuffs. But what always stands out in my mind are the tasty burgers. I do not know why, but they are delicious and far surpass any other "fast food" burgers in town. And the fresh-brewed iced tea is a bonus!! The restaurant booth chairs are mustard yellow which add an old school feel to the dining experience. The only criticism I have is that the buns always seem dry and often fall apart, making for a messy meal. Dine in. You'll be glad you did.

Great royal pastrami burger and gyros! Been coming here for years and the best on this side of town.

Ok... I'm not a regular here though have been going here ever since they opened... maybe thirty plus years ago. Once or twice a month. .. whenever I want a fix for a tasty Greek-diner type of meal. Honestly, I've never been disappointed. Stella and George run a clean, comfortable and an efficient operation that serves good food. Parking is easy, the area is safe and the turnover means food that's always cooked fresh. I usually get the lunch special. .. incredibly tasty gyro sandwich with steak fries and a soda all for five bucks. You cannot go wrong with this! For breakfast, I get an egg sandwich with gyro meat on a pita with melted cheese for four bucks. Occasionally I might get a stuffed egg burrito smothered with green chile. Delicious... but you need to get exercise either prior to or after to work off the calories. Their burgers are good and lots of folks order the pastrami sandwich. Folks who go here are amply rewarded with food that's comforting and satisfying. Once in a while I treat myself. The food is good and the diner feel... works well.

They get a star for having a decent greasy spoon burger that still qualifies as food. However, I was blown away by how outright rude and disrespectful their staff was. We arrived two hours before closing time and put in our order. The entire time we could hear the staff in the back talking about how they wanted to close early so "we have to get the damn people out of here." They clearly have no concern for their customers or enough self-awareness to know that we could still hear them from ten feet away. We were still eating and talking as a family when, an hour before their sign said they were closed, the cook walks out to our table and tells us "their closed and it's time for us to leave." Minutes earlier they had locked the doors while people, CUSTOMERS, were still trying to come in and place an order. I guess they are not that concerned with making money or job security. I've never know a successful business that can turn away customers. So this cook stands there as we get our things and to-go boxes, then walks us out so he can lock the door behind us. Customer service aside: their staff can hardly behave like decent civilized human beings. Will never be back, and every time I drive by, I give them the bird.

Incredible tasting burgers and sides served up by nice people burger-stand style. I had the pleasure of watching the guy do the window signage and it reminded me how important it is to spend money locally as much as possible so local folks like that graphic artist get hired. I digress. They also have an incredible milkshake. Well worth a visit.

Oh Junior Royal Burger! I have dreams about you I cannot lie.. A friend told me.. If you have a meat craving go to Crown Burger. She was right! Sometimes a girl just needs a little meat on top of her meat! Pastrami, beef, cheese, bun.. Get in my belly! The breakfast burritos are GREAT!! They are a little pricey.. BUT.. They are the size of your face. Really, they are!. I usually cannot eat the whole thing for breakfast (unless I am looking for a food coma). The onion rings are great here as well. The only other thing I have tried on their menu was a BLT. And it was really great as well. Sad I don't live down the street from here anymore.. But it's probably for the best!

I wouldn't say this place is great by any means. The burgers are average and the special sauce they put on the burger is blah. I would just prefer regular ketchup and mustard. One positive thing is the burgers are charbroiled and I love that. And I would much prefer this place over mc donalds or whatever, but my brothers bar still holds the key to my burger heart. I hear the pastrami burger is good, maybe I'll be more impressed with that next time.

You want a greasy, high quality burger? Go to this place. I tend to stick to the simple things on the menu here-the "Royal" pastrami burger scares me. Although on my most recent visit, I decided to try the green chili smothered cheeseburger. Oh YUMMM. Their green chile is made in house and it is not only very flavorful but very spicy also. It comes in a close second only to Little Anita's up the way a bit. It's an old fashioned burger joint, reminscent of the mom and pop grease joints I used to frequent in Chicago. Their steak fries are tasty and they have a thousand-islandesque sauce you can dip it into. Good food here, you won't be sorry.

I definitely agree with Steve B's comment that many people confuse "Old" with "Dirty." After reading the reviews on here, I almost didn't try Crown Burgers. Almost. But, I figured I could always walk out if it was dark, dirty, and dingy. Crown Burgers was NONE of these. I'm so glad that I ignored the trepidation and made the drive. The booths are yellow plastic/formica with fake wood-paneled tables, reminiscent of McD's circa 1983. It's adorable! When we arrived (12:20ish on a weekday) the place was PACKED. Full parking lot. Jammed line. Good sign! We looked at the menu, and since it *is* the Specialty du Casa, the Man got the Royal Pastrami Burger, and I got a Junior Bacon Cheese. (No Tomato) (I can't lie. I made him get no Tomato too so I could steal a bite!) And we shared an order of Onion Rings. The Onion Rings were thick and not at all greasy, there was definitely cornmeal in the breading. They were awesome. (A heck of a lot better than the Chopped-Formed-Onionmeal-Matter-Rings over at BK) My burger looked small at first, but by the time I was on the last bite, I was REALLY glad I'd gotten the Junior. The patty is typical fast-food patty: thin, not the focus of the flavor. Here we focus on the Bacon... It's REAL! It even appeared to be of the Peppered Variety. Cooked to perfection, too, I noticed as I savored my "Pork Fat Rules!" moment when I nibbled on the overhanging Bacon. The "Special Sauce" is Mayo and Ketchup... I needed a little more ketchup. The lettuce and onion are diced, which is a good thing in my opinion. I think it makes it easier to eat. (Though I sure made a mess of it!) His Pastrami Burger.... YOWZA! He got the Full-Sized version. So, um... "Large" doesn't quite describe it. Beef patty stacked with peppery, hot, greasy Pastrami, and the lettuce, onions and special sauce. This Artery Clogger was all kinds of good! All in all, the food and fun retro-booths would make this a 3 star review. What bumped it up higher than that Jersey Shore chick's hair? (Couldn't resist that one. I just learned about the wonder that is 'Snooki') Well. It's simple. The Service. The counterstaff was cheerful, smiley, efficient, nice, friendly, and knew half of the customers by name. Not only that, but in the middle of that hustle, they found time to chat, ask about family, gossip, and even bring out an older gentleman's tray and condiments to his table. (I'm a sap.) The Owner is a Greek lady (you can tell because of the Greek Art-Adorned walls, Greek Flag, and, Oh yeah, a little girl who is apparently a Regular brought Grandma in, and we all got a lesson in Grandma's Greek Fisherman's Hat! So Cute!) This lady knew nearly everyone in there. She actually was the one who took our order. And on our way out, she stopped us and made sure we loved everything, and invited us back. With service like that, even mediocre food would taste good. This is Good Food, made all the better by personal, efficient, professional, friendly service.

Thanks to fellow Yelpers, I made it to Crown Burgers on So Colorado. I had the 1/4 pounder with fries, my guest had the bacon cheese burger. Both were cooked as ordered and the steak fries were hot and good. The buns were a little dry and not toasted, I'm a big fan of buttered-toasted buns. Mmmm, toasted buns. Total price, $11.50 tax inc. The place was a little smokey today, maybe a problem with the kitchen vents? The lady behind the counter was very friendly and helpful since we mentioned we had never been there and found it on Yelp. All in all, we'll be back, but not before exploring more places based on Yelp reviews. Keep up the good work friends!

Specifically and medically not for the weak of heart, but a Crown Burger is a sweet way to get your artery clog on, and fast too! The prices are very reasonable and they have many daily specials. If you choose to go inside, be prepared for a bit of surreal: I don't think the decor or supplies have changed since the Seventies. Styrofoam cups, orange and brown everywhere, and ketchup and mustard squeezers to clutter your table. This place has been around for decades and continues to provide good grub to the masses.

A few things that makes Crown Burgers different than your average fast food: -A non-descript yellow painted brick building -The drive thru features an old school speaker box and no fancy digital screen -There is only one size of steak fries and onion rings -You'll wait for you food for probably 5 minutes, as it's actually grilled and not just put into a microwave All of this sets Crown Burgers apart from McDonalds, Wendy's, etc in a great way. It's still the delicious, greasy food you crave but with a local feel and taste. The staff cares about what they do and make sure you're getting what you want. It's not as cheap as Burger King, but the difference in price is noted in the quality. Crown Burgers is definitely worth the occasional stop.

It's been a few months for me to be here, I enjoy the the egg sandwich with bacon. If you are looking something on the go in the morning. The hamburgers are good too so for some good food stop in try it, you won't be sorry.

A REAL hamburger..plain and simple. The lady at the counter wasn't the friendliest person in the world (the reason not 4 stars) but the burger was that old school diner good.

Every once in awhile, I get an urge for a huge, greasy bacon cheeseburger and a chocolate shake. This place hits the spot every time. Expect short, ill tempered service from the guy taking your order at the drive thru. But mm, greasy, delicious cheeseburgers...

I needed some comfort food before going to my aunts to clean out. This process is taking way too long. Anyway comfort food is what I wanted ok so I didn't need it but whatever. I decided to get a burger here for the first time ever. Love going to new places you know. I ordered a burger, fries and diet coke but my timing was off and everything was ala carte. Wierd. So I got a diet coke and a double burger. Wow! I had no idea how big it was but should have known when the price was 7 dollars. Didn't see that coming. I really enjoyed the burger and the sauces on it with lettuce and tomato. did not think it was greasy. I was full for the day and happy. I will try it again and go for the fries when it's meal time.

Walk in and grease and grime just overwhelms you. If you're tall enough you can see a dirt covered kitchen with an exceptionally greasy cook sweating over obviously unwashed cooking implements and a stack of raw pastrami about a foot deep and two feet wide. You'll likely see an old lady blatantly smoking in the corner. The mushroom swiss won't have swiss on it (really!) and the mushrooms will be slimly and not even halfway cooked. The fries will be unseasoned and bland, while the onion rings will be too thick and, yet again, undercooked. There won't be lids for whatever soda you order. The ketchup will be hot and obviously have been left out for weeks on end and sour tasting. You won't leave happy.

This place is doom if you're even toying with dropping weight, much less seriously considering it -- doom like Mt. Doom, doom like being the last X-Wing flying down a trench at breakneck speeds vainly hoping you hit a target 2 meters wide. That being said...it's a *superb* place if you want to get your grub on -- or just *cannot* keep those pounds on. *Ha*. :D I usually hit here every 1-1 1/2 years, but I'm gonna have to come more often after reading Terry L's review of the breakfast burrito. Came here today with him, and had a double bacon mushroom swiss burger, with thousand island dipping sauce. Heart attack in burger form, ahoy. (Yes, pics are up for it!) I wonder if they do fried eggs on burgers, too? I dunno...2 of those and onion rings was just shy of $20, but you get your money's worth here. The onion rings were sometimes smooth in texture, and sometimes rough and almost cornmealy -- but not the crunchy bread-crumb fried texture one typically finds at fast food places. They were pretty tasty. The burger was outstanding...my eyes fluttered at one point, having found the critical ratio of bacon to swiss to mushroom to beeeeeeeeeef, grilled beeeeeef... SO good. The service seems to be at least based on being family-owned by a short Greek man and his cheerful, always welcoming smiled wife -- maybe a son works there too, unsure? Pretty/very quick service for what we ordered. The joint was still half-full at 2pm on a Monday -- elderly people, moms with babies, hipster/slacker college kids, and more. Whatever they do, they have a loyal clientele; and with meals like this, it's really easy to see why. (Most single burgers clock in between $3-5, and they do have alternatives such as gyros, pastrami melts, salads, and yes, desserts and shakes too.) Yummy and tasty -- I've heard their breakfast burritos are roughly the size of aircraft carriers, so that'll be fun to try some lazy weekend morning too.

Outdated and grimy looking but hey went there for the food not the ambiance. Great burger get the junior if it's your first time!! Definitely will be back, beats the chains hand down and possibly even the cricket!!
(4)Dave B.

(3)Maria B.
(4)Christopher C.
This is a great stop if you are in the hood, 3.99 for a gyros fries and a drink...? You can't beat it. Also try there famous pastrami burger...yummmm
(4)Dax F.
Frozen french fries, frozen onion rings, frozen buns - do I need to go on...? Okay - there are so many better burger places in Denver; your burger fix is better served at HBurger or Park Burger!!!
(2)Amy F.
Yum! Love the Fries! Lots of menu choices The burgers were very good! Great place for a quick meal or if you have a hangover! We ate here yesterday and got it to go, no complaints- service was nice and the food was good!
(4)Coke V.
Thanks.
(4)Paul D.
If you like Diners Drive-Ins and Dives (or just checking out divey places) this is a must-try. Simply amazing, homemade burgers. And the staff are amazingly friendly and make you feel like family. Love Crown Burger!
(5)Steve m.
(1)Angelique M.
(4)Brian B.

(3)Bryan B.

(5)Jesusio C.
(5)James B.
Double burger with cheese and fries is a can't miss. Tasty burgers. Good deals. Consistently tasty. Stop by when I'm in the mood for a decent fast food burger.
(4)Anhers M.
But seriously this place should be bulldozed over w. blue moon.
(1)Frank T.
Oh well!
(1)Dave N.
(4)Adam K.

(4)Aaron A.
Here is where it gets good: Quarter-pounder with cheese, fries and drink (10 cents extra for a huge azz cup ya heard) for UNDER FIVE DOLLARS.
(5)Tommy S.

(4)Karissa W.

(4)Michelle F.
Horrible. This place was good many moons ago, now not so great. The food had no seasonings at all, no salt,no Nada. The place was dirty and smelly to boot. Too bad I used to love the food here.
(1)Lyz R.
ok....so YUMMY burgers, and i'm a burger fanatic.....used to go here all the time, if fact i craved it when i was preggers.
(2)Jelena W.
(3)Matthew M.
(2)Erin J.
you craving a burger or gyro? stop at crown burger. they make everything to order so the food is always fresh and they mak sure your order is right! i ordered a gyro there recently and was so so so pleasantly surprised! the burgers don't disappoint either... god, my mouth is watering just thinking about this place.
(4)Shauna S.
I try not to think about what I'm eating and where I'm eating it at and then it makes my grilled cheese sandwich and steak fries taste A-OK!
(3)AfterMidnight E.
(4)d p.
4 1/2 stars! A decently priced, greasy, tasty, old school burger. Well done. Beat's the heck out of all these new re-invented old time burger joints like Smashburger, etc.
(4)Thomas M.
The best breakfast sandwich in town we do the thank you breakfasts from thier George is loud but you gotta love him hang in there Stella You can't beat the food prices and quality in town. Hope your here for a long time the rest of the menu is great you can not go wrong here.
(5)Jaemis G.
(4)Judah H.
(4)Ivan N.
(5)River G.
Called this restaurant and the person who answered the phone told me to go have sex with myself.. Not too sure how i feel about the staff there.
(1)Eric M.
I love the double royal burger. You get a lot of food for the cost. The double royal burger is mouthwatering to say the least. I have yet to try the gyros even the reviews are really great. Once again, this family owned place beats any of the chains that I have tried. That is my story and and I am sticking to it!!
(5)Klaudio R.
I didn't like this place!!!!!
(2)Christopher S.
(4)Eric N.
(5)Chris H.
(4)Denise G.
(2)C B.
Driving by on Colorado and this looked like my kind of place. I was right. Royal burger was big, juicy and loads of pastrami. Highly recommended.
(4)Bob S.
Since my last review years ago, things have improved dramatically. Great burgers, great fries, and the best breakfast in town for the money.
(4)Mark L.
(4)Nate W.
A Colorado Classic! This place has been around forever. Great food. Check it out!
(5)Sharon J.
(5)Ty M.
Nice menu delivering good burgers by a great staff without the snooty hipster vibe of all the new 12 dollar (park, lark, illegal...) burger joints around popping up. I had the royal cheeseburger with a half pound of pastrami on it! Better than expected.
(4)Sam K.
everyone is missing out! yea yea the royal pastrami burger is the bomb- but breakfast is probably the best and last real breakfast you can buy in a fast food setting! the breakfast sandwich is the best- i like the sausage and i always ask for the green chilli on it! remember! ask for the green chilli on it!
(5)Matthew M.
(2)Michael C.
I really like this place. It's a hole in the wall with quality steak fries, burgers , and outstanding giros. Give them a shot!
(4)Rc P.
Great fresh sandwiches. Been a customer for 25 years!!! Georgie does an amazing job!
(5)J. P.
(3)Nick K.
Love this place! Every time I'm in the area I come here. Their burgers are top notch and affordable.
(5)Jamie D.
(3)Kelsie B.
(4)Agent O.
The food is good but I was shocked to see every single person handling food including the owner do not wear gloves!? Are you kidding me. Someone call the health department quick. Come on really wont be back til I see people handling food with gloves on!
(1)Corrie A.
Excellent gyros and baklava! Did not expect it! Fries were perfect, so was burger with tons of pastrami. Haven't been here in forever. Cool old building. Food was fresh and delicious.
(5)Thor C.
(4)Jennifer B.
Yum!
(4)Fales M.
This place is great, five stars for CO place 4 if it was in CA. Lady at the front was very nice, and gave my kid a free cookie. We only had burgers, but I think I will go right now for a breakfast burrito.
(5)S B.
This is the closest I've gotten to burgers from my favorite places back home. The decor is nothing to write home about, but the food more than makes up for it. They typically have great specials going if you're looking to save a few bucks, but I recommend the Royal burger in all its pastrami glory.
(5)Meg K.
Crown Bugers is so much better than the national chains. It maybe a little pricey but worth every penny spent there. George and Stella are awsome! Way to go you 2 :)
(5)TMZ F.
First time trying this place in hope to find another hole in the wall burger joint but wasn't that satified with the service and overall food. The pastrami burger and onion ring did not taste as expected.
(1)Terry L.
(4)Solowonnme G.
(2)Russ D.
(4)dom T.
Great royal pastrami burger and gyros! Been coming here for years and the best on this side of town.
(5)Denver B.

(1)John B.
(5)Angie R.
(4)Allie R.
(3)Kathleen A.
(4)Jamie L.

Pastrami Burger is nearly perfect. Gyros - not so much!
