This is one of my favorite places to smoke a fine cigar, and let me tell you - I smoke a LOT of cigars. It's a relatively small bar located inside the Brown Palace Hotel and as you can probably imagine, it's expensive. This is the place to go for your best occasions, or to impress a client etc. for business. One of my favorite aspects of Churchill Bar is that it's quiet - most cigar bars blast the music after 7pm, but not these guys. If you're looking to have a nice conversation with friends while smoking cigars, this is your best bet. They have a good food and drinks selection and you can order from the bar next door. Meals are upwards of $16. Their drink selection is good, including lots of wine (though I'm no wine expert), bourbon (even Pappy Van Winkle), and a few upper-end craft beers (Trappist stuff mostly). Bourbons range from $12 - $100 per glass (Pappy's) and the nice beers are around $16 - so yes, this place is pricey. My recommendation to save money is to bring your own cigars, as theirs are expensive, with a good, yet limited selection. Bring your own cigars and only order one drink and you're only looking at a $16 - $20 trip. You can also split a sandwich (reuben is highly recommended) to lower the trip cost. They do validate, so use their valet service to save on walking and parking. Most of their waitresses are great, very friendly and laid back. Although they don't have a large staff, so it can get slow if the place is packed. Overall, love the old-school atmosphere and always enjoy smoking here!

This was our favorite bar in Denver. Of course, my husband smokes cigars, I don't but love scotch. Not many states allow you to have both anymore. They even gave us blue cheese stuffed olives, smoked almonds and a spicy peanut mix! Loved this place!!

I immediately thought of Ron Burgundy's quote, "I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany," when I stepped inside Churchill Bar in The Brown Palace. Apparently, I wasn't the only one because just a few minutes after my arrival, I heard someone at a nearby table quietly whisper an Anchorman quote to the suit sitting next to him. This cigar bar is swanky, and as such, stuffy. They may as well have a sign that reads, "No suit, no scrilla, no service." Okay, there's not really a dress code, but you'd be hard pressed to find any of the clientele here not dressed as if they just stepped away from their very important job at a very important company to close a very important business deal. The bartenders and servers know their regulars by name. They know their drink preferences. They know their cigars. They know how to flatter them. I feel most people in Churchill Bar have a purpose for being there whether it's to drink scotch with a colleague (and the people who are at Churchill are the type of people who say colleague), impress a client, or to size up the competition. While it's certainly not the type of place I find myself in often, it has its place and serves its purpose with a bit of good ol' boys club flair.

It's small and dark and the chairs are thick leather so you'll feel important. my Dad once told me that these kinda bars are the kind that a man would take his mistress, and as i'm typing this, i'm wondering why he thought that. Shit.

Found this little gem while in Denver for a conference. Very cool feel, looks like the place hasn't changed is the prohibition era. You'll find a lot of old money hanging out here and in the hotel lobby lounge area. Drinks were on point also, they had a great variety of spirits and smokes. I stuck the the Breckinridge Bourbon with my Aging Room Bin No.1 which I picked up from Jerri's. I will definitely be back next time I'm in Denver!

I thoroughly enjoy this place, the ventilation in the cigar bar was great, normally when you're going to some cigar bars you wind up smelling the other guys Cigar more than yours, this place is luxurious, also the food is great I enjoyed the prime rib sandwich

This place reminds me of the Driskill in Austin, TX, but with more soul and cigars! The decor is rich, the food is delicious, the cocktails are magical, and the cigars are the cherry on top! If I had know that this bar or Brown Palace Hotel existed, I would have definitely booked my room here during my work's conference. Such a beautiful, classy place, with more character than anywhere else! Perfect place to stay while in Denver or to simply go out with work colleagues to wind down after a long day. I will certainly be looking for an excuse to get back to Denver asap ;)

Old school, but not as Churchillian you might think. One of the few places left in the USA where you an light up inside. I don't smoke, except for the occassional cigar 5-6 times a year. Here they have a solid selection, torch lighters and servers who know their stuff! Its clubby, but I take issue with the blonde wood, c1985. I would much prefer a dark mahongony look. Stil its tony and plush and the coushy couches and chairs are great. Plus, typically great food service you'd expect from The Brown Palace.

I discovered Churchill's about five years ago. The service is impeccable - and the snack tray they put on your table with blue cheese stuffed olives, almonds and bar snacks is killer! One of too few cigar bars left but this is one of the best! Check it out!

Stopped in for a cocktail while my wife was at the spa. Bartender was nice and prompt. Ordered a double Oban 14 and it was $40 yikes-o-rama! Come on guys, it's only $75 for the whole damn bottle!

My husband and I love this place. The atmosphere is relaxed, a number of regulars stopping by to enjoy cigars, share stories, and wet their whistle. Recently, we stopped by to enjoy cigars and watch the World Cup. It was lunch time, so I ordered a tuna sandwich with a side of cottage cheese. Let me tell you, this was the tuna sandwich to end all tuna sandwiches. Actual tuna steak on an open face sandwich.. yah, I know right! Overall fantastic place, with outstanding customer service. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I love a nice cigar and scotch after a meal . And this is where I love it the most.
(5)Diego R.
With the dwindling selection of places to smoke a cigar in the Denver area, this place maintains a sense of class and old charm. Above average scotch selection, although the cigar selection is average, they are well kept. Would be nice to see some Dunhill or Paul Garmirian choices. This place gets busy and smoky on the weekends, I would recommend going on a weeknight to enjoy the full ambience of the rich leather seating and decor.
(4)Nathan T.
Four stars because it is a classy cigar bar. Hard to find good ones anymore...maybe that is just a California problem. Good layout. Comfortable chairs and couches. Cigar selection could be improved, but it did the trick. Good scotch selection. Good place to reconnect with friends and colleagues.

I wanted to like this place, I really did, but there were a number of reasons I won't be back. #1) Slow and forgetful server. My drink took nearly 20 minutes to arrive, although I was sitting about 6 feet from the bar. I asked for a glass of water and it never arrived. Finally, when we asked for the bill it took another 15 minutes to receive. Needless to say I walked to the bar and settled up directly with the bartender. #2) D-Bags. At the table next to us were two pompous arsehats and their girlfriends/spouses who kept bumping into my friends chair, were overly loud, and otherwise obnoxious. If it were a one off, I'd have just let it go, but as we neared the end of our evening another group of similar d-bags rolled in and sat directly behind us with the same "look at me, look at me" attitude that made me want to put my cigar out on their face. *deep breathing exercises* OK, I'm better. On the plus side the pours are heavy and the selection of cigars is passable. Unfortunately those two things just weren't enough to make this a positive experience.

One of the few places in Denver where you get to be a man, and get anything for which you ask: - Smoke in-doors - Vaulted ceilings, classy decor and ambiance - Brass-studded leather club chairs and couches - Food from the adjacent restaurant's kitchen - Private cigar boxes - Stogies lit by your hostess - Peace and quiet on off-peak days/hours - Very interesting group of regulars - TV in the far corner, which you have the choice to enjoy or ignore Good selection of cigars, phenomenal selection of whiskeys. Bring a few friends and deck of cards.
(5)Jessica J.
Comfy, upscale, old school cigar bar. Picture it: Oversized worn in leather couches and arm chairs, along with some tables/chairs, a big bar and large humidor. It is floor to ceiling wood, leather and cigars. It works. Great ventilation system (translation no clouds of smoke lingering in the room). Fantastic service. You can order from the Palace Arms menu, but if you want free eats they will bring you stuffed olives (blue cheese), smoked almonds and Cajun mix if you need something to nibble with you drink and stogie. Awesome experience!

I definitely felt as if I had walked into somewhere in the UK when I entered this bar. A small group of us on a work trip wanted to find a good spot for a cocktail and yelp sent us to the Churchill Bar. To get to the bar, you have to walk through a wonderful lobby filled with luxury and beautiful adornments. It's gorgeous! I should have known that it might have been smokey in the bar - I really don't like leaving locations smelling of smoke (I'm spoiled to have lived in many cities where that is being done away with...). I never think of this anymore since Chicago is smoke-free, plus I was searching yelp based upon star reviews and not written reviews....PLUS, some people are calling this a 'cigar room', but it wasn't listed this way on yelp. Oh well, my own fault... I thought that the wine list wasn't quite as varied and long as I would have hoped for a bar in a hotel, though I suppose this is where you go for a cocktail or scotch as I've seen reading the other reviews... Service was slow though we were the only ones in the bar and I think that it's pretty expensive for the selection (of wine). Overall, a cute spot in a lovely building, but I think I would have enjoyed my drink in the lobby bar instead. Worth a look if you want a cigar, though...

A class establishment. Shockingly busy for a Tuesday but still able to get a seat at the bar, the bartender was friendly and poured me a quality neat rum and gave me a decent cigar. They give you your own ashtray and a piece of cedar to light the cigar with. Classic, comfortable, the way old school hotel bars should be.
(5)Kate L.
Churchill's is what you would expect from a cigar bar in the Brown Palace: leather upholstery, mahogany bar, and some token oil paintings on the wall. I joined colleagues for drinks and cigars, and oddly enough, the bar snacks were the best part (feta-stuffed olives and smoked almonds). The bar also seems to welcome the cigarette-smoking crowd, so beware that the smoky interior will not be limited to the softer scent of cigar smoke.
(3)Jason L.
GREAT BAR SNACKS!!! I loved the stuffed bleu cheese olives! I gauge a bar based on how good they make an Old Fashioned. Churchill's was very disappointing. But I can't hate on a place that lets you smoke cigars and stuffs you full of yummy olives and mixed nuts. If you go, they are not mixologists. Stick to safe spirits or wine.
(4)Michael W.
Nope. It's a nice looking place for sure, but not my speed at all. The selection is small, lacks diversity and is on the expensive side. These aren't bad cigars by any means, just not worth exclusively seeking out in my opinion. High name recognition brands (Davidoff, Ashton, etc.) are what you'll find here and not much else. The bar looked well stocked but to be honest after I scoped the humidor and noticed how unimpressive it was, I was out the door in a flash. Great place for high rollers who like the exclusive digs, tourist and those who want to pretend they understand what smoking cigars are all about. Worth a visit, but probably not a regular go to spot.

Now this is my kind of place. Nice cigar selection, great wine & spirits selection, great service & food... Just my style...

I love smoking cigars and going to cigar bars, so I'm always looking for somewhere new and good to go. Churchill's is located inside the Brown Palace (just go thru the lobby and thru a set of double door's and there you go). It's very nice in there and feels like an old school bar. Everything is covered in wood and there's a few nice chandeliers. A very nicely stocked bar with a avery cool bartender in attendance. He came by several times to see if we needed anything and brought out a very nice assortment of nuts to snack on. They had a good portion of the wall covered in cigars for sale. There were some nice brands in there, although we didn't purchase anything so I'm not sure how their prices were. I brought my own. Prices on drinks were about what you'd expect. $8 for mixed drinks, so nothing too exorbitant (or cheap). Just writing the review is making me want to smoke! I'll be back.

Service was terrible. It wasn't racial profiling it was age profiling. I being a 30 year old male with my smoking hot 29 year girlfriend were very disappointed. I would have smoked a cigar but it took way to long. Then there was the "locals" who showed up with their boxes of cigars and started degrading the waitress. Told her she looks like she lost wait and said "show me your dogs." The entire atmosphere was based around locals and could care less about newcomers. Was totally shocked to see such a great historical place lack absolute hospitality! At the Two Arms Palace now. We will see how that goes....
(2)Sarah K.
Cigar bar, need I say more? Large selection of cigars and whiskey. Wine menu will not disappoint. A little on the pricey side but made up for with great service and the uniqueness of the bar.
(4)Chris H.
This is my favorite place in Denver to have a drink. It's not cheap, but you can't beat the atmosphere...if you're ok with cigar smoke.
(5)Isibella A.
This is my secret little hide away! Hidden within the historic Brown palace hotel of Denver is the Churchill Cigar room. Interestingly it is one of the few remaining in the country. Think dark wood interiors and plush well appointed furniture. I don't even smoke and I love this place! The smoke level isn't even that bad, often with only one or two people actually taking cigars. Just relaxing in the environment makes me feel like i'm on some extravagant movie set from the 30s. I mostly like to enjoy some champagne here. They do serve food here, so you can get their delicious truffle fries and feast on some oysters. I'd suggest bringing friends here before or after a night out is a great idea! For anyone who likes to get dressed up and enjoys luxurious surroundings of decadence I cannot stress this place enough! The hungry kitten says: Oysters...mmm

We were visiting from California and chad was our server. He was SO nice and helpful. He told us about Uber, which seriously saved us so a big THANK YOU to him. This place was great. Every drink we received was perfect. Thank you for the friendly service!
(5)Zina S.
I LOVE an occasional cigar, but I particularly LOVE a cigar in a cigar bar. And not just any cigar bar but the good old "gentleman's club" kind of cigar bar. Complete with wood panels, weathered leather chairs, and the aroma! The cigar menu is basic, not very extensive, just good enough. I ordered a virgin mojito (I had a few drinks elsewhere), but will be back for drinks next time. The service was superb! Our waitress was courteous and friendly. She took good care of us. I will definitely be back for another puff of Davidoff.

It's the BP so everything is above and beyond. Churchill's is a a great place to sit and catch up with friends over a drink and/or snacks. IT feels like an old boys' club. I am not a smoker but have been known to enjoy a cigar with my scotch. I always take out of town guests here and they love this place. The ladies [Hailey, Jody and Shelly] are always gracious and accommodating and they sure know their liquor and cigars.

If there is any place in Denver that warms my heart - this is the place. You walk in through the antechamber, into a room with linen and wood walls, luxurious English furniture, and an impeccable ventilation system (but you will smell like smoke regardless, just an fyi). The selection of cigars is not extremely vast - probably 30 or 40 types - ranging in price from $15 to $150. The alcohol selection, on the other hand, is quite large. Louis the 14th for a $100 a shot all the way to Malibu for $5 a shot. But the big treat of the place is the atmosphere. It's like walking into a gentlemen's club (not the peep show type) in the 1920's. The waitresses are extremely poised, if not straight flirting with male customers (the waitress leans in to do the "lean and squeeze" while asking if "I can light that big cigar for you?" She seemed hurt when I said "Sweatheart, I'm gay.") But don't be fooled, females frequent this place as well. Overall, this is one place in Colorado all men must go to at one point. It's relatively hidden from popular view, but something that makes a cold snowy January night like a fantastical dream of wealth and taste.

I will definitely return. There was a great atmosphere and being that the bar is attached to the Brown Palace, access is easy. If you are a cigar smoker, there is no other place in the downtown area that you will enjoy more.
(4)Sarah Y.
I don't smoke cigars, but my boyfriend at the time did. It was a really classy place and nice atmosphere. I enjoyed my experience there. However, my mojito was terrible.
(3)Adam C.
Great service and friendly atmosphere. I believe this is the best place to smoke a fine cigar in Denver. Complimentary snacks, wonderful service, and reasonable prices on food.
(5)Winston C.
Welcome home Sir Winston! This is a great place to relax and unwind with your favorite single malt and a cigar. The have a comprehensive menu for both but be warned they are proud of them. The only other negative is they could certainly use another plasma TV, but that won't keep me from returning.
(4)Eric L.
I'm here on a solo run, and so far it's a pleasant experience. The food was great. The staff were very attentive. And best of all the atmosphere! If you're in the mood for a good smoke and a comfortable setting this is the spot!
(4)Tony M.
Comfy chairs and couches. Excellent service. Cigars, beers, drinks. This place is great.
(4)Terry B.
This is not a place for the smoke haters as it's a cigar bar. It's located in the lobby of the Brown Palace, and has excellent old-school drinks along with a limited menu. The kobe burger and gin martinis I had there were fantastic. The burger was requested medium rare, and dripped down my chin on each bite. Flavor was fantastic. This was one of the better burgers I've had and cooked to a perfect T. They have a decent selection of cigars as well or you can bring your own to smoke.
(4)Jaime Patricio M.
A good place to go to in downtown Denver for a wondrous hamburger. There are three options: 1) buffalo 2) Kobe 3) non-Kobe / non-buffalo. Spend the extra USDs and get the Kobe; the quality is simply amazing. Tender, moist and compelling. Most hamburgers made of non-high grade beef have little to no flavor and worst sometimes offensive flavor. This is a cute little bar-restaurant where it is designed to look like Sir Winston himself might have been enjoying his daily in-take of Champagne. There was a large selection of cigars! Amazing--I guess Denver has not allowed smoking in-doors. The menu is small and predictable; the portions and quality are large. The service was really friendly and made us feel not only welcomed but were placed at ease. A good eating experience, even though Denver is not one of my favourite restaurant cities.
(4)brewgirl b.
Decent bar, if you can stand cigar smoke. I was fine for one drink, and am happy for the cigar smokers they have a place to hang, but I couldnt imagine sitting here longer. Bartender was really sweet and attentive. They have great bar snacks: blue cheese stuffed olives, mixed savory crackers, etc.
