Chan's Inn, a little hole in the wall Chinese joint smashed in a strip-mall isn't much to look at from all outward appearances. But they pack a punch! Not only is their egg-drop soup probably the best I've eaten in the Denver metro area, but they offer healthy options and great lunch specials. The service is always prompt and friendly, while the interior remains cutely cozy and clean. They don't offer the best fried food, but if you stick to traditional options or lean entrees, they serve it up hot and delicious.

My friend and I came here to try it out since I live just 5 minutes away. The food here is meh. Not great. If I had to compare it, it'd be like Panda Express. I ordered the wonton soup after reading several raves about it. In my opinion, it's awful. The meat was dry and wrapped in dumpling skin, not wonton skin. The soup is merely chicken broth with diced green onions. Real wonton has chopped shrimp in it with a thin egg-based skin.

Best Chinese food around town and to top it off they offer free delivery service. You can't beat that! I love their fried rice and hot and sour soup. I'm drooling just thinking about it... you will not be disappointed.

I've been going here for over 20 years, and have never had a bad meal. Best pork and garlic sauce anywhere, and the hot and sour soup is also the best I've ever had. Service is always prompt and friendly. I've checked out a lot of other Chinese food joints, and always end up back at Chans. Love this place!

Pretty friendly service. Lunch special includes entree, egg roll ,crab Rangoon, hot tea and soup! $5.75 wonton soup was really good! Everything was real fast and tasty even during Noon rush. Spicy depending on what you get .

I love their happy family and egg foo young. I wanted to get my wonton soup fix and i was not disappointed by theirs. Also, the hot and sour soup is amazing. Perfect place for a family night out and you can order take out too. The service is quick and the staff is extremely friendly. Would definitely go back!

So glad we found Chan's. It's our new favorite place to go out to eat. Everything tastes homemade and the hot and sour soup is the best I've ever had. Don't miss the special marinated pork egg rolls either!

  • Wade W.

I love this place. My family always has them deliver. We joke about how fast the delivery is. We joke that the guy cooked the food while driving to our house. These guys are super quick. Sometimes you really need quick! The food is really good and hot when delivered. This lends credence to our family theory that the food is cooked in the delivery car. Chan's Inn deserves my first 5 star rating for being fast and great food.

  • Chris A.

Loy the owner served us and was exceptional! The food was good and fresh and the Tsingtao hit the spot.

  • Ryan B.

Great food and fast service! One of my favorite restaurants!! The people are very friendly and always remembers the regulars

    (5)
  • Noah L.

Ordered from them several times. Every time the delivery man beats the time estimate by at least 20 minutes. Totally still believe he cooks it in the car on the way over.

  • laura g.

Awful, dry, over cooked food smothered in sauce to disquise the taste. Dirty restaurant, food all over the table cloth. Slow service. Greasy egg rolls. The bathroom doors look as though they have never been cleaned. I'm disgusted just thinking that I actually consumed food at this place.

Best food ever. Love them. Have been going for 15+ years. Recommend them to anyone. Very clean restaurant and tasty food.

Stopped in for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon with my daughter. We were the only customers in the restaurant. We ordered our lunch and I watched our server sit down at another table. As she waited for our food she was having her lunch too. As she sat and licked her fingers and then delivered our food. Never saw her go and wash her hands!! Gross!!! Our Sesame chicken was hard and over cooked and the wonton was cold and chewy! Horrible experience!

  • Nick P.

This is my favorite place. I've been coming here since I was 5, they have always had amazing service and amazing food. My favorite is the pork lo mein but really you can't go wrong. I recommend eating in, they are really great people.

  • Carmine G.

This place is by far my favorite Chinese restaurant in Thornton. Food is always amazing and fresh, service is always perfect, and lastly prices are the best around for Chinese food. Highly recommended if you are in need for a Chinese fix. The Chan's special egg rolls they are to die for they are a must try! They also deliver fast if you are too busy to stop in.

  • Chip J.

Good (if not extraordinary) food and a pleasant atmosphere. Friendly staff and an intimate, cozy atmosphere that the strip-mall exterior does not hint at. Low prices make for a great meal. Vegetarian options: Vegetarians are well-served. While I prefer my meals to have screamed their last breath, my lovely assistant is of the far more humane variety. The staff was willing to strip the shrimp out of the spring rolls and substitute tasty fried tofu instead, though she reports that her dish of spicy fried tofu, while firm and delicious, was not at all spicy. Next time she's going to ask them to lay it on a little thicker.

  • Nancy H.

I love their Chinese food. I go there at least once a month. Free delivery too. I usually order the pu pu platter and a some entrees. The mongolian beef, moo goo gai pan, sesame chicken and Moo Shoo pork(not sure how to spell that LOL) are all excellent.

    (5)
  • Adam S.

Had the chicken in garlic sauce and it was horrible. Little chicken, no vegetables, just noodles and lots of water chestnuts. TONS of sauce, I had to drain this stuff out. They do not carry brown rice so I got the fried. It was very bland and plain, no site of any egg or anything in it. The interior is nice and they threw in a free egg roll so I give them 2 stars instead of 1.

  • Sara L.

New to the area, my husband and I stopped in the other day after being recommended as local on Yelp. Can't say we were disappointed! Food was flavorful, arrived hot and quickly. We will definitely return.

  • Vince D.

I've been going here since the early '90s and the food is always consistently good at great prices for a full service restaurant. Egg drop & wonton soups are good, but their hot & sour soup is my favorite of anywhere. They have Vietnamese noodle bowls now too!

    (5)
  • Gabrielle L.

The food wasn't that good and the man on the phone and the delivery guy seemed like they were in a hurry and that I was a bother. I will not be going back but if you go don't order the beef lo mein or the egg drop soup.

  • Jeff A.

This is my go-to Chinese restaurant in Thornton. We just moved here not too long ago and were worried we wouldn't find good Chinese food close by. We were wrong. Chan's food is excellent and extremely well priced. I recommend going in for lunch if you can. The menu is discounted even more. Everyone here is also very friendly and the owner tries hard to learn everyone's name. Great restaurant all around!

    (5)
  • Brown C.

i went there last week. food is good. service is good. but the eggroll is........ a little sour Thank you!

    (3)
  • Patrick W.

The service is amazing as well as the food. Very friendly atmosphere! Very timely service. This is an excellent place to eat any day of the week!

  • Jeremy C.

This place is amazing. The food is delicious, the staff is friendly, and the food is cheap. I'm Always On the lookout for different places and I can't believe I have not been here sooner. Its a tasty hole in the wall.

This place is spot on for chinese. We have been eating here for almost 25 years. We first ate at Heaven Dragon when we moved up here, but, after a recomendation of a friend we quickly tasted the difference. I think Heaven Dragon has only ONE sauce, every dish tasted identical. The owners are friendly and are always happy to see us and our other family members, they are super nice people. Some of things we usually order is Combo Egg Fu Yung (the best in Denver), Chicken with Garlic Sauce, combo Lo Mein, and Sesame Chicken. Awesome Sesame Chicken as well. Try the Chans special egg rolls (you'll probably never eat another egg anywhere else)

  • Kristen W.

This is definitely some of the worst Chinese food I have ever consumed. Just spent forty bucks on delivery and trying to figure out something edible for dinner. We ordered hot and sour soup, egg flower soup, egg rolls, steamed dumplings, crab cheese wontons, sesame chicken, Orange chicken, and fried rice. Nothing has any flavor and the textures are somewhat disturbing. I would not eat here ever again if someone paid me to do so. The worst part? It might have been slightly less maddening just to have watched forty bucks go down the toilet. **steaming mad at terrible food and still hungry**

  • Adam P.

Based solely on Yelp reviews I stopped here for lunch the other day and ordered a noodle bowl. Maybe this was my mistake but it was horrible and so was the service. The place also reeked of funky incense and fish oil which was a big turn off. Maybe I'll give it another try but for now, two stars.

  • Robben H.

I ate at the Chan's Inn on a Friday night after reading good reviews of the spot despite the first review. The bill came to under $20 for two people - a steal for the amount of food, so come hungry! The food was surprisingly delicious. The food came out quickly and fresh and was so tasty. The chow mein noodles and hot and sour soup with noodle crackers were my hands down favorite. I will definitely go back!

  • Alex T.

when i first went there and saw the outside of the building i had a slightly bad impression. but when i went inside, it looked great. Looks like everythings brand new or just kept insanely clean. a few friends and i had the sesame chicken and the garlic chicken, some fried and steamed rice and their AMAZING hot and sour soup. that soup was LOADED with everything. man that was amazing. the sesame chicken was pretty good. i shoulda asked for it a little more spicy, but ill do that next time i stop by. The garlic chicken was tastey. very flavorful. i read the previous review about it and i think hes mistaken. there were no noodles in it and it wasn't overly sauced. it was great the way it was made. OHHHH and i cant forget the Chans special eggroll. that was somethin. haven't had an eggroll so delicious in my life. im probably gonna stop by there this week and try some other great meals.

My family and I have been coming here for years now. We absolutely love it here they take good care of these customers lunch and dinner are both great my family and i don't really like garlic so we ask for no garlic everything is made fresh and how I knew that you may ask is by requesting no garlic most places you go say that is already pre-made they can't do anything about the garlic but this place is fresh. Ps the special egg rolls are delicious We love this place hope you love it to!

I've made a couple of return visits since my first visit here, but I have to say that my most recent experience will be the last. I ordered the chicken with lemongrass. The chicken (if it was chicken) was of a very low grade and didn't taste like chicken at all. I wondered what I was ingested. I was offered a "to go" box. I accepted, but threw it out as soon as I reached my next destination. Interestingly, I noticed that you now receive a fortune cookie in a wrapper--something I commented on in a previous review. However, it is the cheap brand that has no orange or vanilla flavor. Crab wontons are awful. There's little crab or cream cheese flavor; the mixture inside fails to arouse the senses, unless repulsion is one of them. Time to find another option--the scoop places produce better food than what's on offer here.

  • Ken S.

Pretty good food. I need to check out more of their food selections, but what I had from the Pupu Platter and the Sesame Chicken was pretty tasty. Their Hot and Sour Soup kinda tasted generic, but everything else was good. The guy who I talked to recommended that I try the Country Chicken next time, so I will, and I'll post a review to that fact. Not bad, over all.

    (4)
  • Kim M.

Nor a good experience... All those reviews kind of made me walk in with really high expectations. When my husband and I went to chans for dinner it was almost closing time. A hurried order followed by a hurried delivery (which wasn't the best of Chinese take outs) was what we got. The food was super oily n not very appetising...

  • Mariah G.

My family has been coming here for many many years; best little secret in Thornton. Great service every single time that we visit, and definitely a classic and adorable atmosphere. The food of course is absolutely amazing; my favorite is easily the Chan's Special Eggrolls, so great! DEFINITELY must go here next time you're in town, or even make a special trip just for them, it's certainly worth it!

    (5)
  • Kevin M.

We recently moved to the area and have been playing Chinese musical chairs since. There are a lot of good offerings in the area but nothing that really wowed us or demanded loyalty. I think we've found that in Chan's Inn. They are quick, delicious and not overpriced. Great combination! We usually order the standby Sesame Chicken and haven't gotten adventurous yet, but so far we are not disappointed one bit. Don't let the single star reviews deter you - those were flukes in my humble opinion.

    (5)
  • David M.

Went in for takeout. Cozy neighborhood atmosphere. The special egg rolls are great as was the sliced chicken with snow peas and the shredded pork with garlic sauce. Decent prices and a wide selection of favorites on the menu. Will definitely return.

    (4)
  • Arthur Z.

Always great food and great service! Awesome noodles! Food is always fresh made to order, and prices have always been reasonable. Come and check them out!

    (5)
  • V.J. M.

Might be the worst Chinese food I have ever had. The egg drop soup was way too thick and gelatinous, the egg rolls were flavorless, and the sesame chicken was mostly just fried breading with little meat... And the meat was not white meat, but was the dark "mystery meat" that I can't believe restaurants still serve. I'm sorry Thornton, but your Chinese food sucks. For once, yelpers really let me down... How can all of you give this place 5 stars?!

    (1)
  • Charity R.

There's a party in my tummy, so yummy so yummy!! It was our first time here and we were definitely satisfied. Servers were very nice to my daughter and I as we looked through the menu. We ordered sesame chicken, garlic chicken and crab cheese wontons, it was fantastic!! No complaints and I even get a free order of wontons on my next order for writing this review.

Great Chinese food, best prices in town, friendly service. Is recommend their lunch specials in particular

  • Shirley A.

Whenever we eat at Chans Inn we are not disappointed. The Sweet and Sour Chicken, Green Pepper Beef, Chicken Chow Mein, and Broccoli Beef always hits the spot. Love the egg rolls. The vegetables are always fresh and crisp. We always have leftovers. Enough for lunch the next day for two meals. The staff is always friendly and attentive. If it wasn't for the salt and pepper shakers needing to be wiped off I would give it 5 stars.

  • Ryan T.

We are very picky out our Chinese food. Finally found a place we can go to that not only has GREAT food but gives you a lot for your money. I recommend this place to anyone looking for some great Chinese food.

I love this place! My family has been coming since before I can remember. Food is great and the staff is even better. It's a perfect example of a mom and pop restaurant. We have since moved away from the area but we still drive from Denver to get food here. Highly recommend this place!

    (5)
  • Jason N.

Omg love this place, some really great food and we just found out the deliver to our apartment complex and have been eating here for 2 years. Food quality and taste is one of the best. Will be eating here for along time to come.

  • Stein E.

We've tried Chan's 3 times now and they have the best beef and broccoli we've had in years! Plus, they make many dishes gluten free for those that need that.

    (5)
  • Ron R.

My family has been eating at Chan's for 15 years and it is without a doubt, THE best Chinese restaurant in North of Denver. For appetizers, the honey chicken wings and the dumplings are amazing. The hot and sour soup is fantastic. So many amazing entrees that it is hard to pick a favorite, but you really cannot go wrong with The combination Lo Mein, Happy Family or if you want some heat, the Shredded Pork in Garlic sauce is unbeatable. They also have a wide variety of very tasty vegetarian dishes. The owner is very personable and a gracious host, making sure to stop by every table and chat with his guests. While other Asian restaurants in the area such as Heavens Dragon and United Chinese go in for the glitz and have bland menu's Chan's is a down to earth, fantastic dining experience where the food is the star.

    (5)
  • Jamie G.

Great food and staff. Always a positive experience. Our favorite Chinese food in Thornton. Chan's egg rolls are AWESOME and prices are fair. Love the general tsao's chicken! Soups are amazing as well. We won't eat Chinese food anywhere else

  • Joey B.

VERY friendly staff. Clean place. Greeted with a smile, very affordable lunch specials and even available on the weekend! (Nobody does weekend lunch specials) I'm giving it 5 stars for price and food. Mm mm crab cheese wontons!

    (5)
  • Shane C.

Consistent, fresh, and delicious, this place is 100% my favorite off-the-beaten-path preference when it comes to Chinese food, and tops out all the big name places in quality. The kitchen is always spotless. Delivery, or dine-in are both good options. Just tried the Beef with lemongrass for the first time, nice! If only they would add a Sushi Bar.

Absolutely scrumptious :) We've Been eating here for a long time Always good services and great manners

  • Lu D.

This is the best Chinese food I have ever had! I have been eating at this restaurant for the past 10 years and haven't once been unhappy with the food or service. I come around so much the staff already knows what I want before I order. Kung pao chicken to die for!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
