Went here to pick up some Mexican pastries for my dad's birthday. He took one bite and was amazed, which is saying a lot. Huge selection of pastries, and although I didn't order food, the lunch/dinner menu looked extensive as well.

The pastries I got were tough and dry... Pineapple empanada tasted ick too; pineapple imitation or jam? yuck.

Turned on to this panderia by friend and fellow Yelper Doug Y, I have had to stop in 2 times since we went together early this week. It is located in the Athmar Park Shopping Center, which sounds a lot larger and maybe even cooler than it is..I remember it from years ago, when the gas station was a milk store. Apparently they still sell the Farm Store milk, though. It seems that there is a lot of dairy goodness on this block! The tres leches cake is fng incredible! I love this treat, and the stuff there is fantastic..I bought 2 slabs, ate one for breakfast while at the DMV, (which is also in the same complex) and am just finishing the other now 16 hours later..YUM! I would say this is one of the nicer run bakeries I have been to recently, the staff is friendly, and the baked goods fresh. I saw some entrees being served, and had to get a menu to go for next time, looks great as well.

If I could give a three plus this place would easily get it. It's a panaderia that has all the cookies and pastries you would expect but it also serves pretty good food. This is one of my spots for menudo in town since it is served todos los dias and not just on Saturday and Sunday. Get it with the bread that is served toasted and slathered (probably margarine but it still is tasty). If I'm in the mood I'll have tacos or a torta but the salsa here could use a little bit of help (menudo is served with chile pequin, dried oregano, and lemon which I usually add to the salsa). Not great but good and I know how clean the kitchen is because they were a client for a company I worked for and I was in there a number of times. Although there is no shortage of great mexican food in the area, sometimes you just have to have dessert to finish a meal.

Great breakfast burrito and Mexican pastries....we went here at the "suggestion" of yelp....and I'm happy we did....we had pastries an a breakfast burrito (bacon)...and I have to say it was the best burrito I have had in a long time....OK, the bathroom was a bit dated, but clean. Great independent.....great price!

Came in with La Familia since we were visiting Calina at Goldrick Elementary. This is a small Mom & Pop Mexican Bakery and they also serve items for lunch and dinner. A great variety of burritos, tacos, tortas, etc. Staff is very friendly. We ordered the menudo, pozole, beef soup, tacos al carbon and smothered burrito. All were very tasty!! The menudo and pozole were so good that Calina got some to go for a late night meal after a night out. Very good and inexpensive!

Celestial is a bakery/Mexican restaurant. They open at 6 a.m. They stop receiving orders at 8:30 p.m. But close the bakery at 9 p.m. They sell orejas, conchas and other Mexican pastries. You will also see donuts and pan blanco (bread rolls). Restaurant wise, I have only had the menudo. It's probably the best menudo you can buy. Weekend mornings are really busy and full of people waiting in line.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
